- 0:24Welcome back to another collaboration of the Minis
- 0:28Micros, as I call them, and Minis as Pete from the Days of
- 0:32Noah podcast calls me. Pete, we got some time today to
- 0:36jump into a couple cool topics. We have to be with you again.
- 0:40You as well, Sir. And yeah, on our show, we, we
- 0:45track them as many episodes just to keep them separate from the
- 0:49full episodes and number them accordingly.
- 0:53And this one is about time, isn't it, Rod?
- 0:56Yeah. I mean, we've had a couple of
- 0:57interesting conversations off air and the idea of this
- 1:02hermeneutical hygiene that the, you know, that's the term the
- 1:05late Doctor Chuck Missler came up with.
- 1:09We all know what hermeneutics is, but Chuck would go above and
- 1:11beyond and say it's, it's a hygiene thing.
- 1:14It's a constant effort to keep it clean, right?
- 1:18And there's just so much honor that I have for him personally.
- 1:22So a, a bit of these miniseries are going to be geared towards,
- 1:28let's really look at what the words mean so that we actually
- 1:31understand the context, so that we understand the scope of
- 1:34what's being said. And I'm not insinuating any of
- 1:37us are outright ignorant or stupid here.
- 1:41I'm just saying there's, oh, it's multi layered.
- 1:43So there's always more. It's really a healthy exercise
- 1:47that a couple of you out there, I believe are going to maybe
- 1:51learn how to study your Bible better just from listening to a
- 1:54couple of these. So Pete, we'll kick it off with
- 1:56time, right? This is once again a
- 1:59conversation we've had behind the scenes.
- 2:01It's a strange experience. I mean, I actually had to
- 2:06challenge myself. How do I deal with time?
- 2:08What's my definition of it? What's my experience of it?
- 2:12Uneducated, right? Like what?
- 2:14What does it feel like for me? How do I express it?
- 2:18And that's an interesting one. It seems like some days I'll
- 2:23wake up and to be honest with you Pete, it's like you have to
- 2:28re remember and re engage all over again.
- 2:31There's other days I wake up and I feel like I know exactly
- 2:34what's going on, where I am in life, how things should go it.
- 2:39It's a little back and forth for me.
- 2:41So time is a very interesting subject.
- 2:46I'm kind of curious, you know, before we get into definitions
- 2:49and cultural worldviews and hermeneutics on time, what would
- 2:54be your 30,000 foot view of explaining time to somebody
- 2:59personally? I think as it relates to
- 3:05relearning each day how to follow God and keep him in mind
- 3:12throughout all of the, let's say, more tangible things, that
- 3:17use of time really comes into play.
- 3:20You know, sometimes I think like I get up and I have this set
- 3:26amount of time before I really have to get going and I'm trying
- 3:29to reawaken the spiritual side of myself and the carnal side is
- 3:34just not feeling it. And you know, sometimes I think,
- 3:38well, if I use some of my time before I go to bed to pray, you
- 3:43know, what kind of bookend the day, maybe I'll wake up with
- 3:47more of that mindset. But it doesn't always work that
- 3:50way. And so I think time as a
- 3:55resource is, is kind of what comes to mind, right?
- 4:00I think as we get older, we hope that we have more money.
- 4:05So because our time seems to be decreasing as our
- 4:09responsibilities and interests and and vocational goals and
- 4:15passions seem to increase, we hope that we have more money so
- 4:21we can pay the neighbor kid to mow the lawn instead of us
- 4:24having to do it. But I think a lot of us, myself,
- 4:28in all fairness, full, Full disclosure, feel like there's
- 4:32just not enough time or money to do all of the things and, and
- 4:37feeling the weight of the responsibilities of adulting.
- 4:43I just don't feel like it today. So I think, I think time can can
- 4:49feel weary as it will get into the the Kairos and the Kronos.
- 4:55The Kronos being the linear concept that can feel really
- 5:00weary sometimes. And recognizing that God's
- 5:06timeline isn't ours, He sees things in a different way.
- 5:13And what we count as slowness is not slowness to God.
- 5:19Is there spaces within the spaces?
- 5:24I love your your point because a lot of the people that are
- 5:29listening to this are trading their time for money, right?
- 5:35Laborious efforts in order to just it's like you're trading
- 5:39lower quality time in hopes of having higher quality time
- 5:44slots. Very fascinating.
- 5:46So definitionally let's look at this through the English here a
- 5:49little bit. Time is explained as an
- 5:52irreversible progression of existence from past to the
- 5:56future, measured by events like day and night, but is understood
- 6:00in physics as a relative dimension intertwined with
- 6:03space. We all know the space-time
- 6:06continuum. Albert Einstein's work time has
- 6:10been explained as a dimension. The four dimensional space-time
- 6:14physics considers time 1/4 dimension inseparable from the
- 6:19three spatial dimensions length, width and height.
- 6:23Just as kind of a quick caveat, something that's popping up into
- 6:25my mind, I I have to give some declaration to it was knock
- 6:30commodities back in the 1300s. I believe, if I'm getting the
- 6:34year correctly by memory, who studied that?
- 6:36There's 12 dimensions from Genesis and they put him to the
- 6:41stake. He, he was killed because they
- 6:43said it was advanced witchcraft or just blasphemy, but that's
- 6:47accurate. So he would not be a martyr
- 6:49today. He would actually be, you know,
- 6:52recognized and respected. He was in a different time slot
- 6:56of experience, irreversible progression.
- 7:01I perceive it as like the moment by moment.
- 7:05I think prophecy is an interesting thing.
- 7:07We'll get to the the cyclical nature of prophecy at some
- 7:11point, maybe in this miniseries, Pete.
- 7:13But to plant a seed, the prophetic nature and its
- 7:16originality, the etymology of it talks about time travel within
- 7:22the psyche or the spirit, but the body not quite being there,
- 7:26right? I mean, harpazo is a whole
- 7:27different time travel type scenario.
- 7:30Philip, who goes to see the Ethiopian eunuch, obviously is
- 7:34not restricted by the time space continuum I just mentioned, but
- 7:39we're not quite there yet. Just I'm a little excited for
- 7:42this one. I've been actually planning this
- 7:44for months, even though I still feel underprepared.
- 7:49So just human perception of time and that that measurement,
- 7:52right? Let's we know there's the speed
- 7:55and the gravity effects of time. This is a fascinating 1.
- 8:00You look at some of the mechanics.
- 8:04It was once again the late Doctor Chuck Missler, who shared
- 8:07an experiment that 10 years ago blew my mind.
- 8:10I'm still grappling with it. He had mentioned about twins
- 8:14being born on Earth and one traveling at the speed of light
- 8:18going to the closest star, Alpha Centauri, and returning, and how
- 8:22long it would take for a ship traveling at the speed of light
- 8:26to do so. And upon that ship's arrival,
- 8:29after 30-4 years, the twin sibling would be 9 years younger
- 8:40than its other sibling on Earth. And it's like, well, like that
- 8:43doesn't even make sense. Like how do we wrestle through
- 8:45this? So just some extreme examples
- 8:48that are provable within the mechanics of space-time
- 8:53continuum and it's core definition though it's in its
- 8:58most fundamental sense, time is a continuous irreversible
- 9:02progression of existence. It it's the observers, the the
- 9:09observational frame of reference by the moment to moment our
- 9:14everyday usage. We say very specific things like
- 9:18a allotted time or a duration of time, an instance or an
- 9:23occasion, right? I've told you 3 times already a
- 9:26specific period in the Victorian times, we say in personal, I had
- 9:33a great time on this recording, right?
- 9:35I mean, we think about the way that we use the time in the, in
- 9:38English Camden's and that's not necessarily how it was used in
- 9:43the ancients. So Pete, I'll kind of pass it to
- 9:45you if we want to get into the some of this Greek mindset on
- 9:49the way that they define time and let's see where we go from
- 9:54there. Right.
- 9:56And typically we think of the the linear sequential measurable
- 10:03time and that's the Kronos idea from the Greek concept.
- 10:08And I think of the late comedian Mitch Hedberg.
- 10:12He he had some great one liners. If you know him, you guys can
- 10:16still look him up on YouTube and find some clips.
- 10:18But he had one rod where he's like, if somebody says, you
- 10:22know, this is a picture of me when I was younger, Mitch would
- 10:25say, well, every picture of you is when you were younger.
- 10:29Yeah, exactly even. If it was 5 seconds ago.
- 10:33So that's how we think of it, right?
- 10:35We're kind of stuck in that moment.
- 10:37We're always in the present and God is not bound by that,
- 10:41obviously. And again, I think that can be a
- 10:47good thing when we're reveling in the beauty of nature or with
- 10:52a special someone or a day that we've been waiting for has
- 10:57finally arrived and we have those moments where it's like we
- 11:02don't want it to end. And then there's kind of the
- 11:05grind, the Kronos of the linearness grinding on.
- 11:11Am I ever going to have that debt paid off?
- 11:14Am I ever going to see that relationship turn around?
- 11:18Is my job ever going to be fulfilling?
- 11:21Am I doing the things that I'm supposed to do?
- 11:25Is this is this in my scroll God that you wrote for me or am I
- 11:30off course? So we we have those kind of
- 11:33questioning moments. And then the Greek also has the
- 11:36Kairos type of time, which is the opportune or the right
- 11:42moment, kind of that supreme moment that comes in everything
- 11:50into the alignment. And you know, I think many of
- 11:54you could have those stories of like when God moved, you
- 11:59couldn't believe how fast everything unfolded and how
- 12:03things fell into place when that Kairos time happens.
- 12:08And we can have that sort of bias to, you know, big events
- 12:16where we just kind of fall into everything is just going to keep
- 12:19continuing as it is. You know, one of the concepts I
- 12:24think that was alluded to with Jesus when he said, as in the
- 12:28days of Noah, people were just going about their normal
- 12:31business. And yet behind the scenes, when
- 12:35we pay attention to what God is doing prophetically, cyclically,
- 12:40and in time, he's doing things. Things are lining up.
- 12:45And on another episode, we'll talk about some of those
- 12:48cyclical things where it's incredible.
- 12:52He's using the same pattern that he did with an ancient Pagan
- 12:57ruler. And he's doing the same pattern.
- 13:00Even the amount of time that they're on the political stage
- 13:04thousands of years ago, that archetype is replayed today.
- 13:10So I think it was Dutch Sheets. If you guys can look him up on
- 13:16YouTube, he has a Daily Show called Give Him 15 that is is
- 13:21really good. And one disclaimer I will say
- 13:24real quick. I I love Dutch Dutch's stuff and
- 13:28his brother Tim's as well. He does tend to reference the
- 13:33Passion translation, which I don't want to get into a rabbit
- 13:36trail on that rod, but it's not technically a biblical
- 13:40translation. So if you hear him reference, if
- 13:44you hear him reference the Passion translation, just, you
- 13:47know, take it with a grain of salt.
- 13:49It's not technically a Bible translation, but wonderful stuff
- 13:53from Dutch. And he was the first one that
- 13:55mentioned this idea of Kronos and Kairos.
- 13:59And that's that's kind of where I want to leave that is these
- 14:05two concepts and understanding that with God, it's not all the
- 14:09same thing. And to ask him to help us have
- 14:14his perspective of how he is having our lives and the bigger
- 14:18picture play out. Yeah.
- 14:22And I think it's it's literally a duty for us to also make it of
- 14:26interest for us to understand the boundaries or parameters on
- 14:29this thing. Why does it feel like when
- 14:33you're having fun, time flies by, Sad, lonely, rainy day piano
- 14:40moments. It's like you're bored, time
- 14:45trots along, sluggish pace. Why do we perceive it that way?
- 14:51Does it have to do with our interests, our energy?
- 14:54I mean, how do we talk about seasons?
- 14:58How do we talk about appointed times, which is much different
- 15:03than times alone? Or what about the twinkling of
- 15:07an eye that the apostle Paul talks about?
- 15:09Which is the fastest measurement of time in the Greek and the
- 15:13Hebrew mindset, all to be discussed here in the very near
- 15:16future? I feel like, Pete, this is a
- 15:19really good kind of ground episode, getting people
- 15:22interested in time. We have much more meat to get
- 15:26into regarding the Hebrew mindset.
- 15:30Bible verses verbatim, just like Psalms 9012, teach us to number
- 15:35our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom and much more.
- 15:40Even the Vedas have some very interesting concepts of time and
- 15:45we'll kind of close out on this one.
- 15:46It's been an honor to be with you for a Part 1 on TIME, Pete.
- 15:51You bet. Yeah, I look forward to the next
- 15:53one. Thanks, Rod.
- 15:54God bless guys. I came from the sun, but one of
- 16:16the only straight from the heavens.
- 16:20He really owed me. All in my life I was beating up.
- 16:25All in my life I didn't handle. All in my life I was stuck in on
- 16:29track. All in my life I didn't handle
- 16:31rap. I didn't know why my life was so
- 16:33wet. I didn't know why my life was a
- 16:36rat. I didn't know why I couldn't get
- 16:38up. I was so stuck.
- 16:39And the monkey was stuck till I found out.
- 16:42And I broke everything till I found out.
- 16:44And they took everything until I was hurting.
- 16:46My heart was strained. Yeah, I was broken.
- 16:49I had all this pain. Held on the hope.
- 16:51It got harder than this hope. Then I went to the side of this
- 16:54mode. I had no truth but to look to my
- 16:56cat. He gave me to me up, open my
- 16:58eyes. He gave me earrings.
- 17:00And he told me I'm blessed. He told me he just believe in
- 17:03this time. I told him I can't change all of
- 17:05my ways. He said I got you.
- 17:07Just look at this. I looked at him and he showed me
- 17:10his ways. Then he just told me how I am
- 17:12this time. Then he just told me I'm not in
- 17:14this world. He told me I come from the
- 17:16heavens above. I'm a new creature.
- 17:18I come from the sun, from the one and only straight from the
- 17:21heavens. You really owe me.
- 17:23I came from the sun. I was really with him.
- 17:25And heavenly places I'm sealing. Y'all can't even go that way,
- 17:30y'all don't even know that way. Y'all want to play like Patty
- 17:33Kay but this ain't no game. But it's right.
- 17:37You wank this so fake when you walk under me and I know you're
- 17:40a snake. You think you can beat me but
- 17:43you got no power you want in a way I take out that chopper,
- 17:47I'll put on your chopper and I'll prank on your face.
- 17:51I see you laughing. You think that you got me but
- 17:53you got no way. The evil you say for my life is
- 17:57OK because it's made for my good.
- 18:00My God is created. He created you so you really is
- 18:03cooked. I said all these things 'cause I
- 18:06know what is true and you know you win for but like I did case
- 18:10we're done with the games. You can never win.
- 18:12I know the things that's gonna happen to you when you die.
- 18:16You didn't say living your life 'cause you know you can never go
- 18:19and get saved. You know his great day, His
- 18:22mercy was true from you when you're my started the plot.
- 18:26Thought you could take on my God's spot.
