- speaker-0: Welcome to the Mark Workman Show. We're just glad to have you back with us. It's got a great episode today for you, in the sense of the subject matter. I'm kind of excited about this subject because it's it's one that I think about quite a bit over the course of my career and just in terms of trying to understand kind of wealth, the words we use around that idea and what it really means. And so it's a subject that I've read extensively on myself and and Today we're gonna get into that subject. Kathy has just recently read a book that's really kind of triggered her in a positive way. You know, w the we hear that word triggered. It's usually in our culture today it's a negative. But for her it's been a real positive. So we're gonna talk about that today. we've been on hiatus a little bit and we're sorry about that. We've been traveling. we got to go to Omaha and spend time with our grandkids, which was just a blast. I read more books in the last few days in terms of children's books than I've done in my whole life. I have a granddaughter that lists one right after another. She'll go, The end, and then another book, you know. So that was really fun and got to spend time with them and it was just such a such a positive experience. So we're really glad to be back and this show is about being well within. You know, we're we're really focusing on that as the the new title for the show and it's not new to new to us necessarily. It's one that we've talked about before. But well within, that's really our goal for this is that we encourage you with these episodes. We encourage you to really pursue the the wellness as a wholeness concept that it's mind, body, and spirit. And we just want to encourage that. And today's subject, again, it's kind of an odd one to talk about, but you'll see the connection to health and your mind, your body, your spirit. all those kind of things in terms of some of the nuggets we pulled together from this book. Kathy's gonna talk about those things because it's just been one she's got a had her nose in for quite a while now reading and just really enjoyed it. So anyway, so welcome Kathy. Here we go. Thanks for back and being back the episode. We like doing these and just glad to have you back. speaker-1: Hey, it's good to be back. Yeah. Yeah, it was fun. as I'm looking at this oil well rig coming out of my head, it makes me think about how all of us really need to start thinking and mining and from from within. What's what's coming within? Cause I just even love the scripture that says from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. So I wanna know that what's the abundant in my heart is what's coming out and helping and and making the world a better place. speaker-0: That's right. Yeah. It's it's it's amazing how everything's so interconnected, you know, in many ways. We I think we try to connect things or put things in compartments when we don't realize there's a wholeness piece that if one area is off, the other one starts getting off as well. So there's just this interconnectedness between our spirit, our mind, our bodies, right? If we're not healthy, we can't think, our brain can't make decisions. I'm not a good businessman at that point because maybe I'm irritable and popping off to one of my vendors or you know, the health, the physical effects all these other areas and vice versa, right? Right. If we're not thinking clearly, and you know, God promises us a sound mind and you know, and that we can navigate things, but if if we're not renewing our mind by the the of his word, you know, each day, those kind of things, we can get off in our mind will affect our health, you know, physically, right? Yeah. Stress or whatever. So it all those interconnected pieces is really for well within, is just a really important concept, you know, so in my view. speaker-1: Yeah, absolutely. If you look at a vehicle, you you get one flat tire, you've stopped the whole car. So, you know, a lot of us are operating on a few wheels, but not all wheels. So it it really is about getting that that healthy balance in every area of our life. So again, back to health and and wealth today. We're gonna talk about wealth. our health is our wealth, first of all, but also if you think about the top two prayer requests that people get at church. it's about their health and their wealth. So it's worth looking into. And I'd have to say, we're gonna talk about this book here in a little bit, and it's one that came recommended to me. And when I first saw the title, I was like, Okay, well, we'll see. And so as we had time, I got to read it on the airplane. So on your speaker-0: trip what was your big takeaway from our visit to Omaha with the grandkids speaker-1: my goodness, those grandkids, I tell you what, just watching the continuous energy, like we had a little blow-up pool in the back, and I for hours they went up and down the slide, jumped, up and down, not just the the sheer energy that kids have, their peer, just freedom, the love they have, you know, the our little four-year-old, he's writing me notes, grandma, I love you, you know, and just the Just the things we can learn from them. We always think we're there to teach them things. And I tell you, I probably came away learning more from them than they did from me. But we had we had an amazing time. And, you know, just watching how as a family they've done a really good job at you know, keeping the processed foods and those things out. But the kids still have obviously, you know, peanut butter and jelly is still a big thing. So trying to figure out how we could change a few things. I had the kids making jam. with a real simple recipe of adding fruit, chia seeds and honey and that thickens up and makes an amazing jam. Kids loved it. And anyway, just value adding that adding protein and fiber to the everyday things they're eating. speaker-0: Yeah, what's interesting is each kid each kid's a little different. Like the oldest, i he Ice cream, no. Sugars, no, no candy. And he is a lean, mean fighting machine. Is he not? He is a he is a specimen at his age, even. Yeah. And then we have our five or six year old. I don't know if he's six or five. Six. speaker-1: He's speaker-0: He's six. Yeah. And he can't walk out of the store. Cookies. Look at those grandpa. I'll take some cookies and a donut. and I took him to the store a few times, you know, with me. And he was picking out everything that was fl flat out satisfying for the moment, right? Not really good. And then we have You know, and a couple others that are you know don't seem that interested in sugars that well. But Callan, the oldest one, he he could care less. Is that true? speaker-1: Yeah, he's really he's really made the connected the dots. And I'd have to say the six year old, he knows grandma's heart. I've got I've I'm a sugar girl too and at heart and having to work through that and working through that with the kids. Like, okay, I want to be able to be the fun grandma and let's celebrate and okay, let's have ice cream. You know, but yet at the same time finding that balance and how to how to teach them out of it. It's a real thing for these parents that are trying to do the right thing for their kids because the kids are so marketed to and programmed to. you know, one of them said, Can have cereal for breakfast? Well, they didn't have cereal in the house, but they saw me as a weak link because mom and dad were gone. And we didn't give them cereal, by the way. but anyway, for the parents out there that are fighting the good fight of feeding your kids good, healthy things and limiting all the excess sugar, it's hard and I applaud you. Right. speaker-0: Well, let's get into what we kinda do every episode and let's just talk about the problem first and the solution. And then we're gonna get into our subject on the book. but I think it's important to go over these things every episode, to be honest with you, because if there's new people watching, they're gonna go, I got that one, I see that. my gosh, I do that all you know. So I think it's important to be repetitive with some of this. And and some of the people that watch episodes probably, you know, tune us out at this point. But if you're new and this is gonna be new information for you. And to be honest with you, I think it's going be interesting. So let's just talk about the problem and we'll we'll just go from there and I'll turn you loose. speaker-1: And no apologies for the repeat because we are constantly being programmed to if you sit in front of the TV at all, you watch. ads over and over and over for pharmaceutical things for health issues that you're gonna have. And what we focus on a lot of time is what we get. All of a sudden, you know, my my leg starts twitching and maybe I've got that or maybe I've got this. So looking at the great big problem, recognizing that 93% of the population has some sort of a metabolic issue. And you know, again, if we have one kid that's failing the class, it it might be the kid. But when we have the whole classroom is failing, we have got to evaluate the classroom. All right. And so when you look at this great big problem over there from obesity, type two diabetes, neuropathy, psoriasis, dementia, all of these different things that you can see there on the wheel, the root cause is one thing. And that gives me great hope. And that's what gives me my passion about the product and the company that I'm working with as we're targeting that. We can take care of all the other stuff. And we've kind of been you know, diagnosed into, you might get this or you might get that. it's genetic. When a lot of it is, you know, it's just family habits. 270 million people are taking medications that are lifestyle driven, that can be reversed or healed through lifestyle changes. So again, that's that's what excites me and keeps me going on this. We can identify some of the other things of insulin resistance skin tags. I had no idea that that was a s a symptom of of insulin resistance. And basically insulin resistance is your body trying to protect yourself. Your cells just shut up and say it can't take any more. And then your body starts, it's just like your gas tank. Once you click it and it says, you know, it clicks off. If you keep Pushing that fuel thing, it's gonna run all over the place and cause you all kinds of problems. And that's what's happening within us as well. And speaker-0: So when you so when you look at this wheel, excuse me, what on that wheel when maybe you were presented this information for the first time that did did you connect with? What was something what was made you really jump in on this? speaker-1: Well, being in the weight loss industry for over a decade, obviously the obesity and then, you know, I used to see people get off their I I I would see people get off their sleep apnea, you know, get their energy back, all of those things. But probably on a personal note, the Alzheimer's, you know, I watched my dad disappear and he was trying, but they had him on statins, you know, he still had his little He's eating healthy, he's having a bowl of cereal for breakfast and orange juice, you know, thinking he's doing things right. And I watched him disappear betwe before my very eyes. And then of course it's, you know, told, it's a genetic thing, so be careful. And that was a real fear for me for a long time. I would say I had to work through that myself personally. And so just to see all those different things on there and people that I love and care about that have dealt with those, it it's given me a a real passion. And the other side of it is to see the fruit of like our the generation before us has lived through the fruit of of big pharma and we see what's happening. They're not getting better, they're getting worse. But when I can watch people make some small changes and work on that insulin resistance, get their blood sugar level and watch the healing that comes amazing and quickly and consistently, that is exciting. speaker-0: Yeah. Well, one of this morning, and I'm not gonna say names, I don't know the names, but you had a quick text this morning of a testimony is I my my I'm down six pounds, my husband is down five pounds. This is all in a week, I think, is what you're telling. speaker-1: Yeah, a couple of weeks. speaker-0: And that the the in the text that that you read to me, the gal used the word lifestyle. I she says I can see this can be a come of lifestyle that would be beneficial to us. Is that kinda how she's speaker-1: And she's a gal that has had great success with, you know, her weight loss and stuff, but she just was feeling like, okay, I'm getting out of control again. And this has been a great tool for her and her husband to stop the evening snacking and just get whew back into control and feeling the benefits right away. I love that. speaker-0: Yeah, and that's a common testimony too. It's not uncommon to hear that, but you as just reading that this morning, the fact that she used the word lifestyle meant quite a bit to me, just in the sense I immediately thought of it as like, she's getting it. She realizes it's not just, hey, this isn't a diet. This is going to become a lifestyle. It's going to become the way I live, that I read labels, that I'm looking at what I'm putting in as a fuel. Yeah. You know, and realizing it's affecting my bet metabolic health. So to me, the word when when I hear people start using lifestyle, that always is encouraging to me. speaker-1: Yes, it's a long term consistent thing that we're gonna do to get great results. speaker-0: That's right. So let's talk about the solution. and go through that. And it's again, it's it's w one that we're gonna talk about later today and just in the terms of the business side of it a little bit, but this is the solution on the product side. speaker-1: Yeah. The solution is a a simple company and product that I found that uses a Yerba Mate tea. It's actually a nutraceutical. They've had over probably over 50 different clinical studies that they've done on it. We're in multiple countries and people are getting the same results, you know, which is awesome. And it's a three three protocol, you get two teas and one balance. You can actually it's because it's a nutraceutical, you can have more of any of it that you want. It's not a real detailed, what do I want to say, legalistic protocol. You add it to your lifestyle, however it's going to work best for you. But in doing that, you're also adding some of the intermittent fasting, as you can see on the side over there, the top one. When we're eating all the time, our blood sugar is spiking, therefore our insulin, your pancreas, everything all systems have to go and they're basically going on high tilt. Which is storage mode and damage mode. So when we can add these simple products, get the food noise down, get the inflammation down, get our blood sugars level. When insulin is low, fat can go. And not just fat, but all the other things. The inflammation is going, the cravings are going, the energy crashes are going. So it creates this real consistency, which you can see down below on the protocol, you're now. giving your body the rest that it needs, the the tools are being used appropriately to again quiet that food noise. Then we're adding the extra fiber back in. Fiber was kind of a big deal when we started doing all the processed foods. It took the fiber out. So the shelf life of the food would last longer, but your shelf life doesn't last longer. And it's not just fiber to keep bulking and running things through. It that fiber is what feeds the microbiome. So we're recognizing that it's insulin resistance and gut dysbios biosis that's really causing so many problems because the gut is connected to the brain. We're seeing a lot more of the depression and anxiety and we're not recognizing that it's all because our gut needs needs to get healthy. So when we can get both of those healthy, get the food cravings, all those under control, get the gut healthy, we see the whole body respond in an amazing way. speaker-0: Yeah. Well, I would say that from my perspective, even I like I think the fiber and the balance that I've added to my life has been probably the biggest change for me. You know, I I probably was doing no fiber maybe, I don't know, in the years past. You know what I mean? But I would say that the balance has been one that it's a yeah, I know I'm getting good h healthy gut fiber, you know, rejuvenating my my my gut health every day. And it's and it's really easy to do. And I love the taste of it. know, that kind of thing. So that's never an issue. But I would think that's one of the biggest things for me as a testimony that I've added back is the fiber where I think most of my life I was getting almost none, you know. speaker-1: Yeah, and it and we really need to be getting a lot more fiber. And obviously we all like simplicity and it's hard to be able to cut up salads and you know, get all the fiber all the time. Those things are great and by all means add them in there. But when we're getting that variety, not just one type of fiber, but the seven to eight different soluble and insoluble fibers, all of those are feeding the different gut biome and making a healthy atmosphere. Because most of us have been on some kind of antibiotics that kills off a lot of things. We've been on different medications. all the sugars, those things are just a toxin and and and poisoning our our our systems. speaker-0: Yeah, one hundred percent. So so let's you know switch gears here a little bit. and and just as we move from the solution, but the the part of it is is there's a solution too, we're gonna get into our subject matter today about this idea of the the book we the book that we're gonna kind of focus on today is it's called the the science of getting rich. And maybe we'll talk about the title first. but it's it's a book written nineteen seven, nineteen eleven. speaker-1: Nineteen hundred th this w Wallace D. Waddles was around he in the nineteen hundreds. So yep, he's got some really great speaker-0: It was early nineteen hundreds. So so you'd say, well, it's not gonna be a modern look at wealth. Well, principles about wealth are are are really timeless. And the the th money changes, the style of money, fiat, gold, silver, all those kind of things change. But the principles about as we talk about philosophically about this idea of being wealthy or being rich really don't change much in my opinion. So and and if you're off, you're gonna know it. You know, if you're spending too much or how however you handle your monies, you know, you'll you know pretty quick because it shows up as problems. So but you talked to me over the last few days that you had the hardest time maybe with the title. The science of getting rich. Explain why you had trouble with was it the word rich? Was it the word science? Was what was the problem in the title? speaker-1: probably the combination of the two, because we're doubting science these days, as well as the whole rich thing. You know, we're watching, we've demonized the rich because we've seen some wicked things happen with a lot of extra finances. But I also think that as Christians, we're kind of taught, you know, to be content and that somehow God wants us to live in this poverty mode. And, you know, but yet if you look back to like when this guy is writing, we're talking about. You know, even America, people desired to come to America because the opportunity was there. They could build something, they could grow. And yeah, when I was on the airplane, I found myself kind of hiding the title, you know, because it it just we we all want it, but we don't want anybody to know that we're curious about it. So anyway, that was kind of some of my own rash. And as I read through the book, I really had to go, okay, that rashes me. Why? Because we know that so many things are upside down now. You know, if if we're supposed to do this, then you probably should have been done doing that. So when I sense in myself, okay, I have a rash about this, then what's the mindset? And so I was really challenged with that. speaker-0: Yeah, well and the motive today is that is that there's a there's an opportunity with this company, Unicity, to become a distributor and a partner and to build and build a network of people. it is multi-level marketing. everything's multi-level marketing, whether you believe it or not. Walmart doesn't make anything. Every product on the shelf is made somewhere else, distribute distributed through probably sixteen different channels to get to the store shelf. So it's all a joke when we use multi-level marketing, you know, and that kind of thing. But but really what we I know that when I grew up I was almost terrified of the idea of wanting or wanting to have a good life. I in my church system I was told to be small, live small, think small. And the idea of saying I want to be rich would be almost sinful, really. Right. You know, and I grew up that way. And but then I always secretly wanted to do well. I wanted to be have success. I wanted to have a successful business. I wanted to be free. You know, I've always told you in your And I've talked about it many times, but I'm very repetitive on this subject. Is and any rant I give any young person who's wanting to start a business is don't chase dollars, chase freedom. And the dollars will follow. If you're chasing passions and freedom, I want to be left alone. I want to be able to do whatever I want, whenever I want. Those all those subjects I you and I have talked about over the years, and I've really kind of been able to create that environment and I want it that way the rest of my life. I want freedom. But I also have to admit, you know, I I I like the ability to buy People's meals across the room. I like to be able to give, sew into other businesses, you know, and so and they don't even know I'm doing it sometimes. So I'm very anonymous about that kind of stuff. But the truth of it is, is no poor person has created anything. They don't they don't have the the power, the influence, or anything to create anything. And it takes people with wealth and vision and and creativity and a good heart to sew into things, create things. And you you've got to have wealth. And you and the word rich goes along with. that, right? So but but why have we created such a negative connotation in the modern age about those who are rich? It's real. Don't you agree? speaker-1: Yeah, absolutely. And I think, again, I think that's probably the the big piece that I would encourage anybody to read this book because I really felt like literally like my mind was like there was challenges and just soil was being softened up and reminded of who God is. He's the limitless God. And anything in nature, everything in nature grows and expands. A seed goes to the ground and it grows and expands. We grow and expand. And when I want to honor God, I want to be as big as I can so He can work through me. And when we are doing well, the people around us do well. If we don't show up to our job, somebody else has to do it. And that's the same with wealth. If if somebody else can't do it, we're all being taxed to take care of people that aren't able to take care of themselves. And I think A lot of it is mindset that we have. And so, so yeah, I was excited to read about the book. speaker-0: Well, in unicity, and you found this out and like I'm amazed what you've been able to do with just in just a few months into this. Really you've been in it about a year, but you became a partner, I want to say in December or November. And you y and these things take hard work, they just don't happen overnight. And you've been a very very diligent worker. And I always tell you the luckiest people in the world go to work every day. You know? Yeah. The luckiest people in the world go to work every day. And you're getting up and going to work every day, doing this and doing it the way they're trying to train you. They give great training, but there are people in this that within just a few years are making millions of dollars. And and I don't want to talk focus on the dollars. Right. But you got to understand you can go there if you want, right? speaker-1: And here's where I I think, like before you're talking about the multi-level, let's let's back it up to, you know, everybody's doing the pyramid scheme. And we know about the pyramid, the food pyramid was totally upside down. They had us eating all of these grains. stay away from the protein and fat. We now know that was a total lie, and it's upside down to that. The same goes true when I hear people talk about, the the the pyramid scheme. You're part of a pyramid scheme. And I look at this and I go, okay, at the top, you've got this. guy at the top. But all these people down here are fighting competitively against their boss, against their other caseworker or their other employees, colleagues, trying to get to the top. When you're a part of a business like I'm, I it's upside down because I start myself at the bottom and then I grow other people and we're all growing together to the top. And in the book he talks about how we've been programmed to be in this competitive mind business model instead of a creative mind business. And that's again, you can recognize when we're in this competitive mindset is like I'm trying to work harder than the next guy so I can get something that take it away from him. And when we realize that God is a limitless God, I don't have to compete with anybody. There's enough supply for all of us. So when I can come alongside another Unicity Distributor to help more and more people. to me, that's a beautiful thing. And then I'm we're working in creativity, we're not working in c competition. And so I think the pyramid thing is another one of the great big lies. And when people really find out how beautiful this model is of creativity, they would never clock in and sell their soul for somebody else and clock in and do a nine to five and not. be able to do what they love and God put in them for a passion. speaker-0: Right. Well, you said here God's design is to go forth and multiply. And I think that is the the you know, you you know, we're talking about a business here with unicity, the opportunity to to join as a partner and and kinda follow you and you'd be the leader I guess in some ways is i because you speaker-1: I have a leader. speaker-0: You have a leader, right? You have people helping you along and and it's a real opportunity. You know, everyone's I've been asked many times about multi-level marketing over my life. I have a thriving business in the oil field and different things I've done. But the I always tell them they're absolutely real. It's 100% real. It's the easiest way to get in. And what do we know about it? It's also easy to get out. Very few people stick with it because it's hard work. speaker-1: Yeah, it's been it's been oversold and there's obviously been some issues that have made it bad. But I've had bad experience at a restaurant and service doesn't make me stop going. No. I go to maybe different places. And that's where I think, you know, we've thrown the baby out with the bathwater. And yes, there's probably some shady things out there, but there is it, like I said, in in every arena. so Yeah, to me I'm pretty excited. And I look back just over the pattern of my life and the interests and the things that God has placed in me, how they've grown and I've stretched. And the thing is, when you outgrow an area, which we're supposed to do, you move to the next level. And there was places in my life where I felt stuck, you know, in in jobs and certain things. But when I focused on, hey, do a great job where you're at, all of those pieces have been pieces that have grown me to where I'm at now. So I might be at the starting point of something else, but it's just expansion. speaker-0: Yeah, I always tell these young people that come and want counsel on starting a business, you know, and I I do some counseling that way a little bit over the years. And, you know, I always tell them, I've told my own sons this, it takes three to five years to get to be an order taker, essentially. You do you build this fountain network, it takes three to five years, you're gonna have droughts, sometimes four and six months. You know, I I've started three entrepreneurial things and and did well in all of them in many ways. But there was also failings in me and my thinking process, that that first of all, the ones I always go back to is I thought everybody was good. You know, I I grew up with Midwest Nice, everybody's good. And then what as soon as I had it clicked in my brain, no, you gotta be cautious. People are not speaker-1: Good. Well, it's not that they're not good. They're programmed for competitive. It's a com it's a competition. And so competition means there's a loser. But when we're working in creativity, there's no losers. speaker-0: Yeah, that's a great point. 'Cause though any of those people that I felt like robbed me, you know, way back when and put me in a hole more than once is just that, you know, I I use the word you just said it. I think it's right on the money. It's comes from the book. Basically is what you're saying is that they were in a competitive mindset and had to either beat me or crush me or whatever they needed to do. But as soon as I realized that that they're they're operating in that environment, I was able to start operating better from my own side. Right. 'Cause I am creative. I like creating things, you know, th hence the podcast. Music or whatever, even in the businesses I do in the ideas that I get and able to create them. I I enjoy that. I love it. I love coming to work, you know. I absolutely love it. So it's it's I don't know what I'm gonna do about having a hobby. You know, I I'm a mess, you know. So, but you know, but the unicity offers you this opportunity, there's a mindset that goes into it that's got to be evaluated. You have to think about are you chasing dollars because you're in a bad situation and you want to get out of as fast as possible. And then the first thing that comes along that challenges you in this business of unicity can be discouraging and you quit, right? When it takes three to five years. Yeah. speaker-1: Well, you know, you get excited about something, you think everybody else should be as excited as you are. And I remember when I first heard about my very first pyramid scheme, I guess, would been Mary Kay. I was a young gal and I'm thinking, my gosh, why doesn't everybody do this? You know, and then I did creative memories. these were all things that I just enjoyed doing and so was a part of it, but I don't think I ever saw the big picture. And even just thinking about this comet competitive nature versus the creativity, I think we've been set up for the competitive, whether it's Democrat or Republican, when as Americans, we were designed to be creative and growth and and and those sorts of things. So obviously there's always gonna be something that comes against that. And if you don't recognize what it is, you can't sidestep it. speaker-0: Well you have written down here, thoughts are stuff. Yeah. This is one of your nuggets from the book. Thoughts are stuff. Be careful what you create with your own thoughts. speaker-1: Yes. I think when we you know the Bible says take every thought captive, but we are being bombarded with the technology and with everything coming our way, the propaganda. We are being bombarded in our thoughts. And those thoughts create things, which when you get that reality in place, you're like, ooh, I don't want to think about that very long. I want to think about good things, think on these things, things that are good, right, pure, and holy, you know, because God wants us to expand in those good ways. And I always think about, you know, because there's so many crazy things being exposed right now. And when I find my piezo meter getting off, you know, I'm okay, I'm out of peace here. It's like, then I'm focusing on the wrong thing. I'm thinking about the wrong thing. And actually, you know, a lot of those things have us thinking things into existence that aren't even right. You know, at the end of the story, I love to hit one of the lines in here. I wrote it down, excuse me. The world is not going to the devil. is going to God. And so when we keep talking about, it's getting worse and worse and worse. Well, we're just creating those things with our thoughts. So taking every thought captive, thinking on the things that we do want, and realizing we have limitless a hundred years ago, nobody could have fathomed the things that are being developed now because somebody had a thought. And when you have that thought, the universe actually brings things to you to create that. And That's kind of wild to me. But but I love it. speaker-0: Yeah, and I again I think for me it was a thinking of somehow creating an environment for my life that I would have lack or needed God. I was told by my church to need God, to have lack and have a a requirement that He would save me in financially or whatever. And there was never this idea of creating, you know, I was on I was entrepreneur from the day I was born. I don't even know how it happened, but I would I came out of the womb entrepreneurial, meaning I'm gonna create things, right? But then I'm told by my lifelong church system to live in a way of lack, so you always need God. Sure. And I swear to you, that still to this day bugs me. Sure. I have a str I I will fight those urges for because I trusted my authority. I trusted my pastors and teachers that told me to live small, think small, be satisfied. You have a word on here about contentment. And in the sense that you're using contentment on this list as one of your nuggets is is to live satisfied and live small. Where you know, that's what they mean by contentment, is to be content with whatever you get. speaker-1: Don't want more. Don't want to grow. And he in this book, he actually says, you know, if you're in that place, that's sin. Because God wants to work through us. And yes, we recognize we have a need for God, but when you realize God is substance, God is the author and the finisher. He is the the the creative one. All of those things, that's who we are. That that's what a Christian should be a creator, a you know, a leader, a Giver, all of those things should flow out of us. speaker-0: Yeah, you say here to stop filling up on limiting mindsets, as you've already mentioned libit limiting mindsets. what would be w a limiting mindset you're filling up on? The what what is can you think of an example in the culture that they're throwing at you that puts limits on us? speaker-1: absolutely. You watch the television, watch politics, watch them over and over work on the the whole poverty thing. You know, and that again was another one of those rashes, like he said, stop looking at all of that, you know, poverty thing. And I'm like, Well, aren't we supposed to be helping out? And he goes, You're gonna help out when you show people how to truly get rich. I I'm talking rich on so many different levels, but when you think of even the word money rich. We're gonna help people to grow themselves when there's opportunity for them to get the things they need, whether it's the education. I mean, we do need some things to grow, but when they see the possibility and the availability, people have worked their way out of out of poverty. It's not an environment that we're in, it's not something that was, you know, has been given to us, or even the limitations of the government or whatever. All of those different mindsets are constantly keeping us small. Giving us excuses, we become the victim. And what's the point of trying? speaker-0: Right. You know, and it it and I again I think even like some of the training we've gotten through education, the school system wants to produce a functional employee. You know, that's that book we read about education, how they want they're trying to turn everything into function. Like you're gonna learn how to be a welder, you're gonna learn how to be an accountant, you're gonna take this job, you're gonna do this during the rest of your life to serve society in this function. And they're not talking about doing well, you know, and or or you know, having wealth or the ability To pay your bills and those kind of things. You know, I I don't think there's any worse feeling I've ever had in my life when I wasn't meeting my responsibility as a husband and father to take care of my family. When I really did have lack and had work problems, you know, over 35 years, you know, those were some of the worst things in the world. Couldn't sleep at night, would wake in the morning, I felt shame, you know, and there's no there's no good thing that comes from living in a a life of lack by choice. speaker-1: Right. Yeah. I and you know, one of the big things he talks about in there that's w one of the he talks about the law or the science of getting rich. There's a science to it. It's the way you do things. And gratitude is one of those things that is so important because it keeps our minds on the good things. It keeps us focused on what's possible. It keeps us focused on, well, it keeps us connected to God and in in this place of gratitude. And it just opens our minds to what's available. draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you. But when I'm grumbling and complaining, I'm really my own worst enemy. And I guess that's what I'm I'm recognizing. even back to real quick, I people that don't read, well then you gotta do the field trip. And I'm just thinking, I like reading books so The field trip isn't quite so painful, or at least I know what's coming. I know some areas that I can take responsibility for and change. And this book I would say has been very powerful in that. he even talks about, you know, if you're wanting to get well, stop focusing on all the sick. We keep, you know, researching more and more and more about the problem. And I think there's wisdom in understanding some things, but also knowing that health and healing isn't something I have to ask God if he wants me healed. You know, I think we all have this question of, does he want us healed? Well, he made your body to heal, but we also have to work together in that and to get it. And now we're we're recognizing a lot of the things that were stumbling blocks for us because we're believing the wrong source. speaker-0: Yeah, one hundred percent. You have another one here. to get more we must make constructive use of what we have. What's that principle? speaker-1: liked he he was talking about in here if you're not in this place where you know you feel like you're set up for success or you're in the business you want to be in he said work your way out of where you're at be the best employee where you're at be too big for your space you know your boss will see my gosh these guys need to be you know you're gonna move up and move out just in where you're at and he said you know you want to you you want to have a grocery store one day well Maybe start with a fruit stand. You know, if you can afford a fruit stand, start your fruit stand and grow out of that. Grow into the next, the next stage. So I think that's where using wherever you're at right now, that is the tool. That's the substance that you have. Grow it. And then you'll continue to grow out of that. speaker-0: So, how does that connect with the unicity partnership? Because really, you can do this from anywhere, you can do it from your kitchen table, you can start with like almost very little investment. And actually, on the initial investment, they give you enough product basically to get back your business start. It's a free startup. And it always comes down to character for me. You know, the so many people run into roadblocks and like even little ones, tiny little roadblock, a a no, whatever. Ain't gonna work. And I'm like, you gotta steal yourself at the core of who you are, that this is what I believe in, this is what I'm gonna do. And you will you'll be shocked at where you're gonna be in three to five years. Are you not shocked where you are in six months? speaker-1: Eight months. Yeah, absolutely. And I think when again, any other business that I go in and I think of the people that are in a business and a right now, they don't believe in it, they hate it, but it pays the bills. And so when I can be in a business that I believe in, that I love, that I have a passion for, that I see the fruit of, to me, it's only gonna grow. And I've had friends come to me, Hey, I wanna be a part of this. I wanna be a part of this. And these are the people that I wanna draw is people that say, Hey, we gotta we gotta a mission and I I call it I I this is my healing ministry. And when you can see so clearly the root of things and I have an opportunity to help people target that route, it's pretty cool. speaker-0: What's what's been maybe as a on a consistent basis for you doing this business that you would describe as the obstacle or thing that maybe annoys you the most in the sense of you you gotta keep going. And there's days when you're probably even thinking and and I know you well enough that you probably don't have days like this, but what moments have you had where you're like, you know, i that you've reached it like you know what I mean, there's challenges. speaker-1: I would say it's kind of like when you're w trying to help a wounded animal and it starts biting you and you're like, Hey, I'm just trying to help. Some days I feel like that, you know, when people like, Okay, well, I'm having a hard time, you know, being consistent. I can't take these two little packets, the flavor bothers me. And I'm like, Well, then what's your option? Then then stay on your medication, stay sick, stay lethargic, stay miserable. But so wanting it more for somebody than they want it for themselves is probably my biggest heartache in this business. speaker-0: That is a great answer. I was try I was wondering where you're gonna go with that. That that is absolutely the truth about you. That I think that's your frustration if you do get a feedback like that. It's because they just haven't a given you always say give it a good adult try. Yeah. And those folks that don't give it a good adult try, I think that frustrates you, right? speaker-1: It does. Because I know that our worst enemy is our inner me. And that's probably why when you start reading and you start learning and recognizing mindsets are so powerful. and when you can see those mindsets and I know something but I can't communicate it in a way to connect dots for them, then I feel like I've failed. speaker-0: Right. No, that that was a great answer. I I didn't know kind of where you what you would identify as a frustration, but that is you one hundred percent. Yeah. You want it more for them than they do. Yep. speaker-1: Isn't interesting? Yeah, it is. speaker-0: So speaker-1: And I feel like God's in that same place for us when He's watching us live small and He's like, Hey, you're one of my kids. Come on. I w I want to work through you, but I can't work through you if you're not willing to pick up their tools and work and expand and grow. speaker-0: Right. So talk a little bit about the unicity partner opportunity, explain it, and and just you know, and invite people to join you. And if they're looking for even a side gig, this would be a great way to do that. I believe it takes time, it takes hard work. you got to be consistent and not be afraid to talk to people, not be afraid of no's. I always say, well, how many, how many no's do you think you and I've talked about this before in my business? I'm a much different model. I'm a wholesaler, so I'm trucking. Only high volume truckload only to big industry. So I'm I'm selling chemical from all over the world into industrial uses in truckload only. I'm not selling a pail. I'm not selling a pallet. I'm selling full truckloads only. And I figure I probably have talked to probably 5,000 people. And only one yes every 5,000 people. You know what I mean? It's that bad. You know, because there's so few people that are buyers and they're buying from the big big boys, Halliburton, Bayreuth, or wherever. So I'm in competition with these big boys. They can offer a level of service. Maybe I can't in some ways. But my point is, is if I operated my business over the years on if I got a no or not, I would never be in business. Right. It's crazy. speaker-1: Yeah. No is your next yes. speaker-0: Yeah no I I go I just live hey no problem if you need anything just give me a holler. You know I exist now hey and if you don't mind can I keep in touch with you now yeah, no problem. Yeah. And it's some t some of my customers it took seven years to get them. speaker-1: Think about that. Well, and I guess I feel like even with this for myself personally, I you know, I was listening to Shannon Davis. She's with she's the gal that got me excited about this. I saw the bigger picture because I sit and I percolated. I listened and I listened and I'm like, hmm, wow. And it's not like I was in a place where I felt like I needed the product, but I know a lot of my clients that did. And so I'm like, I'm never gonna ask my clients to do something I haven't done. So I had to be the guinea pig and I'm like, all right, bite the bullet, let's do this. I see the bigger picture, I love it. But it took me time to percolate. And and as I'm throwing things out on my Facebook, I'm trying to do educational things to get people, yeah, that makes sense. When we can start connecting the dots for ourselves, but it takes time to percolate. And I don't know who's watching things, but you know, after several months or whatever, all of a sudden somebody that I haven't heard from in years is saying, Hey, send me that link. I've been watching what you're doing. So living it out, I always say it's a live it, not a diet. And as long as I'm just living it out, I'm I hope to draw people. And you'd asked me about inviting people to the business. And of course, again, it's if people understood, I wish I would have known this way back when, but I probably wasn't mature enough to handle it. But People go to college, they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars, they finish their college degree and have nothing, no job, right? This company, you invest a small amount, you get the product right back. You're getting taught, you're, you know, we're being educated and taught by people that have already gone before us. You know, I'm talking about the there's millionaires in this company that are taking the time to train us. I think it's amazing. so the training is available, the systems are in place. And if you have a passion for healing and helping people and you need a tool to do it, join me. I can't reach everybody by myself. When you got 93% of the population is metabolically unhealthy, I think in America too, COVID was kind of this big aha. We are very Unicity is very big in other countries because they don't have the medical options that we do. But we're now recognizing that our medical options aren't really options. And for those that that want something different. There's other tools out there. And I'm not saying I'm the only tool. I'm just saying this is a tool that I know I feel great about. And it can take care of your health and your wealth. If those are your two biggest prayer requests, let's get after it. speaker-0: Yeah, and and I I I'm I'm part of the business. I'm a partner with you and and I do I do it as a way of supporting you. I do this podcast as a way of supporting you and I do promote 'cause I I've enjoyed the product. But I'll tell you one of the things that I have take I can take away from unicity, 'cause I sit in on the some of the trainings. I go on Tuesday night calls, the science calls, different things. I'm aware of what's going on is and I can name some names, but Shannon and Trent and you know, all the the doctors and different people that are involved and trying to teach people about insulin resistance, gut health, all these kind of things that Unicity's involved with their with their products and the way they're trying to present them is just some of the kindest, nicest, respectful people that I've listened to in a long time. I always say like especially after Trent, you know, he you can tell that guy's just a nice guy. speaker-1: Well, and they have a heart for this. It's not about the riches. The riches come when you're doing what God put in you to do. And that's what I've loved watching the people that have gone ahead of me. you know, they're just it it it should flow freely. There should be this creative flow that comes and that he talks about it in the book, you know, the science of getting rich, how things come to you. when you can let them flow in and out. And a lot of times it's cleaning up our brain. speaker-0: Yeah, no, I I I one hundred percent believe it's cleaning up your brain. It's getting you know, and I I had to struggle with that myself, as I shared earlier. But you know, again, you mentioned it again. It's it it you know, I would say if you come into this business with the idea of chasing dollars, you're gonna struggle, I think. You have to come with the idea of freedom and helping people. Others you know, we we always talk about on this podcast that we want to be others minded. You know, we do this, th th there's no monetary value for us at all in terms of what I'm doing. And I'm promoting the oil field. I have other opportunities. Podcasts that I do with for my my guys, you know, with with what I'm doing in my business. But on this side of it, you know, we want to be others-minded always. And I I walk that way. You do too. We want to walk in the way of thinking of others first, and how can we move them along? How can we encourage them? And that's the best thing we can give: encouragement to get healthy, get your mind right, get the mindsets right, start walking, whatever, you know. speaker-1: And I think the very best way to do that is to get out of the competitive mode and get into the creative mode and recognize when you're feeling competitive. And there's been times when I've had, you know, other health people come into my little world and I'm like, wait a minute, this is my world. And I'm like, no, no, no. We're working together for the same purpose, maybe a different tool, but I can now be in this mental place of truly want to encourage them where they're at, regardless of what their the thing is they're doing. speaker-0: Right. So if you if you're interested in the business side of this and you want to have a side gig that and connect with Kathy with and be a part of her team and and begin to you know spread your wings in terms of creativity, I would encourage you to get a hold of Kathy. We'll have contact information in the description on the podcasts and on YouTube, Spotify. It goes everywhere. You believe LinkedIn, you wouldn't believe all the places this is played. And we're starting to to be honest with you, just to talk about the show itself a little bit, we're we're getting views. We're getting more views than I ever thought we'd get. Yeah, 'cause it this we're like a piece of sand on the on the beach, w you know, in the with podcasts, right? There's so many, so many th millions of But what I found out is only only like fourteen percent or sixteen percent, maybe that's the number, are actually putting out content. Most of them have started their c podcast and don't do anything. They just name it, get it started, and it sits there for years actually and never does anything. But we're starting to get views, we're starting to get follows, those kind of things. So if you can please subscribe and like. That is great. Helps the show. In the description will be some contact information for Kathy and in terms of you're interested in the business opportunity and I would encourage you if if if you if you feel stuck, if you feel as though you're There's something more, you're not satisfied. If you're not content with your job and what you're doing, I would incur entrepreneurship, start a business, and I don't care what it is. If it's not this, do something, because you're gonna find freedom like you never had before, and you'll never go back to the job just overbroke. What is a job? It's just overbroke. They aren't gonna pay you to be wealthy. They're not gonna pay you to have freedom. They're pay they're paying you to do a task. And at the end of the day, they they if you go, they do not. care, right? So we encourage you with that. and so I'm gonna put up the QR code too for the product information. you can choose mine or choose Kathy's and we'll know who is the winner. speaker-1: You're the winner. speaker-0: I know you're the winner. That's a great line. so but anyway, here's the QR codes. It's really you get the best price. You can it acts at you get the the ability to buy it at a much cheaper price than you can find out anywhere else. Amazon's two thirty-five, free shipping support. you actually connect with Kathy or I on it. so you you can just scan that right from your screen and and go from there. So we'll leave that up for a few seconds there. But any closing speaker-1: Just when we get well within, we splash all over the people around us. So I would say start with you. You know, we've been taught to we take care of everybody else, but we don't take care of ourselves. And when we start taking care of ourselves, we get better and we can expand and grow how God designed and the all of creation is all about growth and expansion. speaker-0: Right. No, I like that a lot. it's it's hard to change mindsets, but if you start today and you mentioned reading books, If if you can begin to read, read on subjects you're interested in, and those mindsets will you might get challenged in some of the mindsets you've carried for a long time. So begin to read. Put yourself in a position to talk to people and have discussions with people that are different. You know, I I don't think we have discussions enough anymore, you know, about and especially with people that maybe think a little different than and And and seek out people that you perceive as successful or are doing well in whatever they're doing and ask them questions. I guarantee ya they are interested in helping you, whether you they I there's very few that wouldn't help you. Right. speaker-1: And they didn't just arrive. They had to go through some hard knocks and figure some things out. So it's all part of growth. speaker-0: One hundred percent. Hard knocks everything th that has what I would say maybe wounded or scarred me has helped me along the way. It's terrible to say it that way, but it's the truth, right? So welcome we just thank you for coming to the Mark Workman Show and the Well Within podcast in terms of us and some of our discussions, we're just always glad to hear. Subscribe and like, follow the show. just we're we're gonna keep doing these every Thursday and And we just thought from this book that we had kinda you know promoted today, again I wanna Yeah, it's nine bucks. So it's it it everyone I've had people tell me, books are expensive. And I always use the example of my oil field book that I bought that I paid I paid like $125 for it, but it was a r it was a deep description of every chemical process, all the different terms, I learned a lana language, and I paid $125 for that. that's been a that's been now sixteen year career, seventeen year career off of reading that book for $125. And I still refer to it. It's sitting right over on the shelf. And when someone uses language or different, you know, copolymers and different different words they use that I'm trying to figure out what they're talking about, cross-linkers or whatever, I have to go read it again. The book's been priceless. It's cheap. It's a giveaway, right? So I encourage you with that. Read books, learn a language, learn an you know, start an instrument, be creative, start a business. And and if you want to start a business with Kathy, get a hold of her. So we just really hope you do that. And again, thanks for everything. Thanks for coming to the show, and we'll do another one next week. Have a good one.
