- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks, Mike Clane. You got off to a good start
- 0:02Speaker 1: against Utah and not the finish that you wanted a
- 0:05Speaker 1: couple of nights ago. Just take us through your thoughts
- 0:07Speaker 1: in that game.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Yeah, our start was our start was good, and you know,
- 0:10Speaker 2: it sort of reminded me of the Nashville game when
- 0:12Speaker 2: we were home here. We you know, we score a
- 0:15Speaker 2: goal to go up three to one, gets just allowed,
- 0:18Speaker 2: you know, and we just right now whether it be
- 0:22Speaker 2: a save or two we need or you know, our
- 0:25Speaker 2: penalty goils been very good, but it wasn't the other night,
- 0:30Speaker 2: you know, and then power play's got to be better.
- 0:32Speaker 2: So it's disappointing in the sense that you know it's
- 0:36Speaker 2: there and there, and it's there for at least half
- 0:39Speaker 2: the game, and then all of a sudden, you know,
- 0:41Speaker 2: it's just kind of like an implosion, and so, you know,
- 0:45Speaker 2: extremely disappointing from that standpoint.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It seemed like everything that could go wrong in that
- 0:49Speaker 1: game unfortunately didn't go wrong. You have the two challenges,
- 0:52Speaker 1: you have the two double minors. You mentioned all the opportunity.
- 0:55Speaker 1: How do you keep when when when you're almost at
- 0:57Speaker 1: the top of that mountain you get pushed back down?
- 0:59Speaker 1: How do you keep that vibe and that energy high
- 1:02Speaker 1: on the bench after a lot of that adversity.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Well, there's you know, it's it's there's nothing you can do.
- 1:08Speaker 2: It's you know, how you deal with a diversity that
- 1:11Speaker 2: defines you really, you know, and the double minors they
- 1:15Speaker 2: certainly don't help. You know, they've got a good power play.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Their power play has been humming for a while here
- 1:20Speaker 2: since the break. So we didn't do ourselves any favors there.
- 1:23Speaker 2: We've got to be more you know, cognizant with our
- 1:26Speaker 2: hockey sticks, you know. But you know, the disallowed goals,
- 1:30Speaker 2: all those things. You know, all you can do is
- 1:32Speaker 2: just keep keep pushing. And I thought that, you know,
- 1:35Speaker 2: when we did go three one and they disallowed the goal.
- 1:40Speaker 2: You know, they scored and it was two two, But
- 1:42Speaker 2: we had plenty of opportunities to score and make it
- 1:44Speaker 2: three two. You know, it wasn't like we were you know,
- 1:48Speaker 2: it wasn't like we were in disarray or anything like that.
- 1:51Speaker 2: You know, we come out at the start of the
- 1:53Speaker 2: third period and you know, next thing, you know, it's
- 1:55Speaker 2: four two, and you know we just right now we're
- 1:58Speaker 2: just having a little bit of trouble. I guess rebounding
- 2:01Speaker 2: from those situations.
- 2:02Speaker 1: And we heard Jordan Eberley after the game. He had
- 2:04Speaker 1: some pretty pointed comments for the group that players had
- 2:08Speaker 1: a players only meeting. Obviously we don't know what was
- 2:10Speaker 1: said in that meeting, but what do you hope was
- 2:13Speaker 1: said and the message that got across to the group?
- 2:17Speaker 2: Well, I mean, you know, it's it's good that they
- 2:21Speaker 2: spoke among themselves. I'm pretty sure that a lot of
- 2:23Speaker 2: the messaging and a lot of the message that they
- 2:25Speaker 2: had for each other was the exact same message that
- 2:28Speaker 2: I'm giving them, you know, in terms of you know,
- 2:31Speaker 2: we we've got now eight games left or four points out,
- 2:36Speaker 2: you know, And like we talked about yesterday as a group,
- 2:41Speaker 2: you know, it's your mindset and what your perception of
- 2:44Speaker 2: the situation you're in is, you know, And if you
- 2:46Speaker 2: feel like you're in a tough spot, then you are.
- 2:48Speaker 2: If you feel like you're in a spot of opportunity,
- 2:51Speaker 2: then you are. Now, of course, we don't love what
- 2:53Speaker 2: we've done since the break to put us in this position,
- 2:56Speaker 2: but regardless, we're in this position. So what's happened in
- 2:59Speaker 2: the past passed and we've got to move forward here.
- 3:02Speaker 2: And yeah, I know I keep saying that, and you know,
- 3:04Speaker 2: that's got to be the focus for us right now.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Chicago, they're a team that, you know, out of the playoffs,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but they're still a very young team. They've got a
- 3:12Speaker 1: lot of talent on that roster. What challenges do they
- 3:15Speaker 1: present to your group tonight?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, like you said, they're young, they're talented, they
- 3:20Speaker 2: have speed, and they're not in the playoffs, so they're
- 3:23Speaker 2: playing no pressure hockey game and a lot of times
- 3:29Speaker 2: when you see that, you look at the you know,
- 3:30Speaker 2: a team like the New York Rangers right now that
- 3:33Speaker 2: are playing well, you know, they've been out of the
- 3:36Speaker 2: playoffs for a while. So this tends to happen with
- 3:40Speaker 2: teams that are in the situations. They're a very dangerous
- 3:44Speaker 2: hockey team to play against because of that. You know,
- 3:47Speaker 2: for us, the meaningful games are extremely important for us.
- 3:51Speaker 2: We've talked about that from day one for a number
- 3:54Speaker 2: of different reasons. So I'm looking forward to this game tonight.
- 3:58Speaker 2: See where we go from here.
