- 0:00Hi. I'm Murray from Sesame Street
- 0:02and I'm looking for the word on the street.
- 0:04What's the word on the street challenge?
- 0:07What is a challenge? Something that's hard but you
- 0:10would put your best into it. Welcome to hubba-wha a muppet
- 0:35quiz show brought to you by tough pigs.com.
- 0:38It's your favorite quiz show. That's not like the others here,
- 0:42Muppet fans, Muppet Animals and everyone in between competes for
- 0:48fabulous prizes, and to see who's this week's toughest Pig.
- 0:53I'm your host. Becca petunia of tough pigs.com
- 0:57and what a wild season of hubba-wha.
- 0:59It's been, we all learned so much about Betty, Lou and about
- 1:03Michael Martian. And somehow we learned a lot
- 1:07about the remake of psycho. And now look at us, here, we are
- 1:11right where we belong at the end of season.
- 1:14Season 2. And you know what?
- 1:16That means. Last season, we ended with a
- 1:19contest of Champions, a grab-bag episode, where tough pigs owners
- 1:24Johannes. And Ryan row competed to answer
- 1:28some of the hardest hubba-wha questions I'd ever written.
- 1:32Ryan was the winner last season and so this time I'm pitting him
- 1:37against tough pigs on their head honcho Jared fairclough.
- 1:41It's a Clash of the Titans so epic.
- 1:44Not going to need to unleash the kraken.
- 1:47We're going to need to unleash the counts pet octopus.
- 1:50Whose name is Helen. I know the kind of the name of
- 1:53the kind of cat, but I can't help you on the octopus.
- 1:56We did that earlier in the season.
- 1:58You okay, you'll hear that great.
- 2:01I want to, I can't wait to hear by the way, I am dying to know
- 2:04how the psycho remake came up. So, yeah.
- 2:07I mean, I'll spoil this, that's what happens when you have
- 2:11Patrick cotton or a lot, Octavia.
- 2:17The octopus is the is Octavia. Good name.
- 2:22As always, these questions were written by me with help from
- 2:25that amazing Muppet resource Muppet Wiki.
- 2:29Speaking of, let's agree to play fair today.
- 2:32Please don't, look at Muppet Wiki or any other resource
- 2:35during this game. You two already know the name of
- 2:38mr. Curly twirly.
- 2:40You shouldn't have to cheat to win.
- 2:42We sure do. So I've already mentioned both
- 2:46of your names and both of your roles but for tradition sake,
- 2:51let's Things off with our usual, first game to tell a face
- 2:56contestants. You're going to buzz in to
- 2:59answer three questions about yourself.
- 3:02Whoever buzzes in first will get introduced first ready, go.
- 3:09All right by a second Ryan. So Ryan.
- 3:13What is your name? My name is Ryan row.
- 3:16All right, and Ryan. What's your history with the
- 3:18Muppets? I've been asked this on a few
- 3:21different podcast. It's now and I always want to go
- 3:23back and listen to see if I give the same answer every time.
- 3:26But yeah, I was a couple of guests have been like, we've
- 3:30kind of come from this house. Yeah, when I had Anthony on
- 3:32earlier in the season, he was like, I say this, like we it's
- 3:36out there, right? Always love the Muppets.
- 3:39I watch Sesame Street. When I was a tiny child, my
- 3:43parents were always very good about making sure that if there
- 3:47was a muppet thing or a, Jim Henson thing coming on TV that I
- 3:50either watched it or Tape it for me.
- 3:53And then I kind of never outgrew The Muppets like some people do,
- 3:59I read Jim Henson to works when that came out, the big coffee
- 4:03table book, and that sort of turned me into a Super Geek and
- 4:06then I met and discovered the fact that there were Muppet fans
- 4:11like me on the internet and then it was like, I was a lost cause
- 4:16from there. I'm a up, a super nerd forever.
- 4:18Yeah, you know, there's you know there there isn't a word yet for
- 4:24for that kind of thing, right? But um, yeah.
- 4:28And now look at you, you run tough pigs.
- 4:32You have one of our other podcasts, the as Anthony calls
- 4:38it on this season. The flagship podcast, moving
- 4:42right along. We were the first half pig butt.
- 4:44So yeah, we weren't the first tough big podcast but where
- 4:48that's true. We are the earliest toughest
- 4:50podcast that is still going. I should say that our friends
- 4:53Julia and Laura had a podcast called frog.
- 4:55Kissin associated with tough pigs, but it's been a few years
- 4:59since there were any new episodes of that one anyway.
- 5:01And so the third question here is so in the, in the spirit of
- 5:08this episode, which is going to feature difficult questions,
- 5:14what? Is the Forgotten or obscure
- 5:16Muppet who you always wish had gotten more starring roles.
- 5:21You've asked me this one before too, I don't think so.
- 5:28Okay, I wonder what I said before.
- 5:30Well you know, I'll say forgetful Jones forgotten by a
- 5:36certain I guess people of a certain age people too young to
- 5:40remember having seen forgetful Jones on Sesame Street.
- 5:43And I'm Guess he was kind of phased out when Richard Hunt
- 5:47passed away. But yeah, I wish he had been
- 5:51recast. I guess they still could.
- 5:53Did he speak in the 50th Anniversary Special?
- 5:56He did. Yeah.
- 5:56And I'm pretty sure was Matt Vogel.
- 5:59Okay, yeah, that works. That's good.
- 6:00So they should bring it back. You should put him in some
- 6:02YouTube videos and stuff. Well, it's possible.
- 6:04He's forgotten himself. Yeah that that is always very
- 6:07possible with forgetful Jones arguably.
- 6:09He was in a YouTube video released the week that we're
- 6:12recording this. But he doesn't say anything.
- 6:15Yeah, that doesn't really count. It's a very brief Cameo.
- 6:18Anyway, you got all three of those questions.
- 6:21Correct, yay. That's 20 points.
- 6:24Race. Move on to our second
- 6:26contestant, Jared Jared. What's your name?
- 6:30My name is Jared Michael Faircloth.
- 6:33All right. Full name that doesn't earn you
- 6:35any bonus points. Not all right.
- 6:38Sorry and Jared a question. You've answered a million times
- 6:42on different things. What?
- 6:44Your history with the Muppets. I was a big Sesame Street fan
- 6:49from long ago. I am, I'm the youngest of 3.
- 6:52So my parents used to just plunk me in front of Sesame Street.
- 6:55While they got my sister and my brother ready for like
- 6:57kindergarten or school. And then I remember the first
- 7:01time I watch The Muppets and you who they were and you Kermit
- 7:04walls, but when I saw the others, I went to my best
- 7:07friend's place. So my best friend to this day.
- 7:09I was about seven years old and I had tonsillitis and I wasn't
- 7:12feeling well. So we're mom just put on The
- 7:13Muppet Movie And I watch that and I was like, who would these
- 7:17people like? What's this little, what who's
- 7:20this pig in this bear? And is do with the nose?
- 7:23And so then I just became obsessed.
- 7:27And, and I write for the, my mindset for a long time,
- 7:31obviously, ran that for six years nearly, I, I tried to
- 7:38write a tough pigs back in 2009 and got knocked back by 1:00.
- 7:41Mr. Johannes, and you, I don't worry about it.
- 7:44At least one article I did I had a couple of Articles while I was
- 7:51sort of while Ryan still have the mindset but before that for
- 7:56a even Muppet - that existed I tried to write for tough pigs
- 7:58and I got a very nice email from mr.
- 8:01Johan has fun fact that article I wrote on my mindset and is now
- 8:05on tough Peaks so I was playing the long con.
- 8:09Wow. Yeah.
- 8:10And then I took over well, not took over but join tough pigs.
- 8:1520 21 and here we are. Also have a great podcast named
- 8:18to introduce our guest star, which I'm wearing merchandise
- 8:21for right now. Well, see, I'm not.
- 8:24I'm not wearing my hubba-wha shirt today.
- 8:27Well, do I get bonus points of wearing my, a different
- 8:30podcasts? I have a sticker of it on my
- 8:34computer tower, but that counts. Yeah, yeah.
- 8:38And to introduce to introduce our guest star is coming back,
- 8:42correct? Yes, yes.
- 8:44Have recorded. Five or six five episodes so
- 8:49far. I think think you guys are next
- 8:51up. Now, that now that season 2 of
- 8:53Hubble was getting wrapped up. Yeah.
- 8:55Now I'm terrified because I need to edit it bill.
- 8:57Yeah. You're telling me.
- 9:00Yeah. And Jared who's the Forgotten
- 9:03Muppet that you wish had gotten more starring roles?
- 9:08I mean, the easy answer with me to say it.
- 9:10Mr. Kelly toilet, but I won't, I've always really loved Angel
- 9:15Marie. That pop it.
- 9:17And every time you see him turn up in just in the background of
- 9:22things, I think you'll in my purse, Most Wanted for a moment.
- 9:26Serious is in, he was in the ABC Series.
- 9:30In fact, I went to the set of the ABC series and it was
- 9:34everything I could do not to pick up angel Marie and put him
- 9:39on and play with him and pay the lenses like you'd better not do
- 9:42that and I was like, alright fine but I'd like to see more
- 9:45Angel Marie. She so fair answer, I love love
- 9:50those Muppet Monsters. So Jared you also got those
- 9:55questions correct. Tying the game at 20 to 20 and
- 10:00here we go. Entering the first leg of our
- 10:04race, a bit of a warm-up with a muppet production, that I know
- 10:09you've seen the Muppet Show, you know, there were a lot of songs
- 10:13performed on The Muppet Show, but, Not as many as there could
- 10:17have been because a lot of songs were performed twice.
- 10:23Specifically, 40 songs were performed twice 40.
- 10:29Yeah. We're not going to deal with all
- 10:33of them because that's a big number, but we are going to play
- 10:38this new game which I call mysterious theater with Vincent
- 10:43twice as winning a to say Vincent.
- 10:46Twice again. See, the thing is.
- 10:49I add the echo in any way but that's just how he introduces
- 10:54himself, right? He says, I'm Vincent twice.
- 10:56Vincent twice. I mean, look, I should have said
- 10:58it twice. I'm not going to retake it.
- 11:01I'm not going to retake it. No, no, it's all good.
- 11:04I want to be honest, I want to be honest with with the
- 11:08listener. So I'm going to name a song.
- 11:13That was performed twice on the It show, you are going to buzz
- 11:18in to describe the two times. It was performed.
- 11:23You'll get a point for each sketch.
- 11:25You can describe. You'll also get a point.
- 11:28If you can, name the episodes that these sketches were in.
- 11:33So let me give you an example because I know that there's a
- 11:36lot of information there. Let's say I said the varsity
- 11:40drag you'd buzz in and say that Statler and Waldorf do a little
- 11:46dance to it in little barbershop quartet outfits.
- 11:50And you could also say that Betsy Bird dance to it in
- 11:53Gonzo's nightclub, you'd earn 1 point for each of those I'll be
- 11:59pretty forgiving with the descriptions.
- 12:02I know you might not remember, let's say the nightclub or what
- 12:06Statler and Waldorf were wearing, I'll be pretty
- 12:09forgiving. You'd also earn one point for
- 12:12telling me that Statler and Waldorf danced in. the Steve
- 12:17Martin episode, and a point for telling me that Betsy danced in
- 12:22the James Coburn episode so altogether, you can earn four
- 12:28points for each question or twice to Tutus.
- 12:37Ah we could also bring in and just named one of the crimes
- 12:43that's just just like just like in our more popular hubba-wha
- 12:48game. The triangle is right, right?
- 12:52You should buzz in. Even if you don't know every
- 12:55answer because you'll get points for what you do know, okay, all
- 12:59right guy. All right, so you're going to
- 13:02buzz in each again. Is worth one point for a total
- 13:06of four points for each question for points on the table.
- 13:10Wait, until I finish naming the song to buzz in I don't know how
- 13:15you'd buzz in if I didn't finish naming this, all good evening
- 13:20and welcome to mysterious theater.
- 13:24I am your host Vincent twice. Vincent twice, question 1, Some
- 13:29Enchanted Evening Ryan, so Wayne and Wanda tempted to sing Some
- 13:42Enchanted Evening. I want to say maybe the Connie
- 13:47Stevens episode. Okay.
- 13:49That is not the Connie Stevens episode, okay?
- 13:53Do you remember what happened to Wayne in that?
- 13:56I'm still going to give you the point, I said I'd be.
- 13:58Oh, yes. Okay.
- 13:59So Wayne sing Some Enchanted Evening.
- 14:03You may meet a stranger and then a Monster eats him.
- 14:07And Wanda says he said, meet not eat.
- 14:12And I think that's a the audience laughs.
- 14:14Yeah, that's it. Can you name the monster?
- 14:18Is it Gorgon Heap? It is the Gorgon heat, okay, you
- 14:21don't get an extra point for any of that, well, but I, I'm sure
- 14:25everyone is very impressed by me.
- 14:26Yes, yes, I am very much so and I actually can't think of the
- 14:31other performance of that song. Okay, so Jared, there are still
- 14:36three points on the table. Yeah, another performance.
- 14:39And if you remember what episode Wayne sang that Towanda.
- 14:43But frankly it's tough to remember what?
- 14:45Episode Wayne and Wanda stuff was in.
- 14:48Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:50Okay huh. See the thing is I got a big
- 14:55Muppet fan so it's don't worry. Only only about half of this
- 15:02show is actually about the Muppets, you'll see.
- 15:04Okay, look guys I'm obsessed with the soccer remake so I
- 15:10can't wait can't wait till that becomes You're more of a Vince
- 15:12Vaughn and fan, right? Yeah.
- 15:15Guess the weight and they do that Movie shot-for-shot remake.
- 15:18Sure did. You'll hear about it?
- 15:20On one of the most pointless films ever made.
- 15:26Okay, well, it was it sung, I've got a funny feeling, it's being
- 15:31sung by someone dancing with Miss Piggy.
- 15:36And I want to say it's one of the human guest stars.
- 15:41But that's the app. Can I just say it's being sung
- 15:45by Miss Piggy at some point? Well, that's not correct.
- 15:47So okay, I can't even be generous well.
- 15:51So first of all the way had Wanda bet was from the Avery
- 15:56Schreiber episode. Okay?
- 15:58But more importantly, I just have a quick question for you
- 16:02guys. Just make a complete fool of
- 16:07myself of course. Because Bert sings it to Connie
- 16:13Stevens so it was somewhere in my head.
- 16:16Yes, yeah, yeah, of course. All right, let's move on to the
- 16:20second song. He only sings a few lines of it
- 16:22though, right? And then they do that dance
- 16:24number song. I mean they don't do the full
- 16:26song but he sings the opening, they do a dance and then he ends
- 16:30with like once you have found her never let her go.
- 16:36So it counts as the song, he sings more of it than Wayne
- 16:39does. That's true.
- 16:41Yes. Song.
- 16:44Number 2. Carbon paper.
- 16:50Ryan. Well, So, is this only on the
- 16:54table? I think I believe that Ralph
- 16:57sings this at his piano, it just does.
- 17:00You don't have your standard Ralph sings the song at the
- 17:03piano numbers. He actually sings it with the
- 17:05guest star. So if you can remember the
- 17:08number, you could get the guest star, but I will give you a
- 17:10point for Rolf at the piano. Now, I can't remember who the
- 17:15guests are was, okay. So this is one.
- 17:18This is one of those things where if I heard the song, I'd
- 17:21go. Oh yeah.
- 17:21But even just to hear the word, Project.
- 17:24Huh? Like I need to Google it from
- 17:27the lips. If you've been listening to
- 17:29listening to my paternity, they talked about this a couple weeks
- 17:33ago and behind on my better G. Well, there you go.
- 17:37Sorry, my bad surgery hosts, you know, they're listening Jared,
- 17:43do you know the other one? I don't know.
- 17:46The other one, I'm gonna just pick it.
- 17:48Pick a character and on the hopes I get something right?
- 17:51Just gonna throw something at the wall, save it stick, X.
- 17:54Was it Electric Mayhem? It was not.
- 17:58Um so Rolf is thinking that as a duet with Phyllis George in the
- 18:02Phyllis, George episode. Yeah, I'm not that familiar with
- 18:05that one. And in the Leo Sayer episode
- 18:09carbon paper is a nice ooze debut song in the context of the
- 18:14episode, we are told that this is the first number.
- 18:17She has been able to perform. Okay, question 3.
- 18:23Temptation. Jared.
- 18:30Okay. The first one is sung by all of
- 18:34the frogs and Miss Piggy, mmm. And that's the one that's the
- 18:38famous in that famous one where she performed by Richard Hunter
- 18:41one point in Franco's at some point, correct?
- 18:44And that is very early on. Hmm, is that Connie Stevens?
- 18:48It is not Connie Stevens. Ah, Do you know the other
- 18:53performance of Temptation on the show?
- 18:59I don't know, I don't. Okay, let's go to Ryan Ryan.
- 19:04First of all, do you know when the Muppet Glee Club sang A
- 19:08Temptation? Well, I'm also thinking that it
- 19:11was very early was it, was it, the Juliet prowse episode?
- 19:15The first is, it is so early an episode.
- 19:19Yeah, I didn't think it was that early good.
- 19:21I can't think of the other one. We're jumping to the fifth
- 19:25season in the James Coburn. Episode a octopus marching band
- 19:31performs temptation. Is it instrumental?
- 19:34Yes. Okay.
- 19:37We were remiss in that regard. Question for friendship.
- 19:45Jared, did the Electric Mayhem? Sing this on a boat.
- 19:49I feel like I remember seeing someone on a boat, it is not the
- 19:53Electric Mayhem on that boat. Is it a boat?
- 19:57Yeah, there is a boat involved. I'm I'm awarding myself 500
- 20:02points for that. Any other guesses for me?
- 20:12Gonzo no. Let's skip to right?
- 20:14Let's, let's pasta Ryan, Ryan. Yeah.
- 20:16Any of them. It's Kermit and Robin and to
- 20:21Wales. Hmm, it's probably from like the
- 20:25third season but I don't know which episode it is.
- 20:29And then does the song also come up in the show, tune medley with
- 20:34Ethel Merman. It does, do you remember which
- 20:37Muppet sings it with her? I'm going to give you the point
- 20:40anyway because you describe the sketch as I said.
- 20:43But do you remember is is that fuzzy?
- 20:49It is Fozzie. Okay.
- 20:51Well done. Thank you.
- 20:52Um, for what it's worth. I mean that's not the song and
- 20:57I'm naming. It depends on for what it's
- 20:59worth. The Kermit, Robin and Wales is a
- 21:03pretty easy to forget, despite being such a good sketch that
- 21:08they wrote a book version of it, and was a picture book that was
- 21:12just Kermit and Robin's whale Adventure, but it's easy to
- 21:17forget because it is from the Chris Langham episode, which is
- 21:21not on Disney plus question. 5, everything's coming up roses.
- 21:30Jared is that I feel like I've prematurely buzzed is that, is
- 21:38that in the Ethel Merman episode as well in that big it is
- 21:40actually not despite being a song that I can see her.
- 21:46Singing it. Yeah.
- 21:48Yeah. We all remember her singing at
- 21:50an airplane. Hmm.
- 21:52As the as of the shell-shocked pilot who thinks he's Ethel
- 21:56Merman Probably. Yes everything's coming up roses
- 22:07except for this answer. Is it is it Gonzo singing up
- 22:12with the chicken? No one day.
- 22:15You'll be right Jared with Gonzo singing.
- 22:17If a chicken Ryan. Do you have a guess?
- 22:20Yeah, one of them is Liza Minnelli at the end of her
- 22:25episode when the the murder mystery Is resolved and
- 22:28everybody's happy. Absolutely is.
- 22:30And what is the other one? I don't know if you were
- 22:33listening to Muppet turkey. You'd never know.
- 22:37Pearl Bailey sings it. As part of the Camelot medley of
- 22:41course of course is. All right, I'm not getting
- 22:46invited back. Am I Jared?
- 22:48Listen, we're not at the part that you're going to be best at
- 22:51the part that isn't about the Muppets.
- 22:53Okay, excellent. Question 6, Singing in the Rain.
- 23:01Ryan Gene, Kelly very reluctantly sings, a little bit
- 23:06of it at the end of his episode after much much coaxing by the
- 23:11Muppets. Yes, and I'm gonna rain.
- 23:19I want to say there's a way in and Wanda performance of that to
- 23:22involving lots of rain. No, no, not one.
- 23:26There's another time that they get rained on but not bad.
- 23:29Yeah, that's what I'm picturing but it's yeah.
- 23:31I don't know who it was. I don't remember the song now
- 23:35that I've taught my it's fine Jared.
- 23:37Do you have a guess for another time that Gonzo and a chicken?
- 23:41No, that's not true. Um, no.
- 23:43Was it positive a, it is fuzzy. I will give you a poem, singing
- 23:48it. Do you know who he's singing it
- 23:50with? Because that's the guest star.
- 23:53Is it rich little? It is Rich.
- 23:55Little as part of a medley but what a terrible episode, you
- 24:02pulled that one Jairus question. Seven top hat, white tie, and
- 24:07Tails. Ryan Rudolf, Nureyev sings that
- 24:16one wearing the titular top hat white tie and Tails?
- 24:20Yeah. Do you remember who he's with?
- 24:21Is it piggy? Yeah.
- 24:23I mean, it's piggy. It's everyone, yeah, he's with
- 24:25the cast very over as the finale.
- 24:27Like yeah. The final number I can't think
- 24:33of the other one. It's a very challenging round.
- 24:36I I wanted to write a challenging finale and like half
- 24:40good at it, but only half. Yeah.
- 24:42Well, there's some flexibility. Yeah, that's the point of
- 24:46Vincent twice Jared. Do you?
- 24:49Uh, do you know the other time I have?
- 24:51AA. Kind of remember this song.
- 24:52I can't remember every Dolph. The Red-Nosed Reindeer sing it.
- 24:55So I'm just gonna again, throw something at the wall did wine
- 25:00and want to sing that. No.
- 25:02Um, so Gonzo Ow. Oh, you are kidding me?
- 25:06No, I'm not. It's a tap dance number.
- 25:10That's what Gonzo is tap dancing to in oatmeal in the Lola Falana
- 25:15episode. Okay, question 8, how high the
- 25:21Moon Jared. I'm Riley.
- 25:27Buzzing in collection. Save Brian.
- 25:29Doesn't know it. So, I'm just hoping to guess how
- 25:31high the Moon that is sung very famously by, by the Electric
- 25:43Mayhem. I'll give you a point, really.
- 25:48It isn't Electric Mayhem. Number, first of all, I'm not In
- 25:52that, how high the Moon is sung? Okay, is it an instrumental?
- 25:58Am I wrong on this? Is it not have lyrics?
- 26:02I'm not confident that it does. Okay, no, there there is, there
- 26:06are lyrics. Although I know that it was an
- 26:08instrumental in at least one episode of The Muppet Show.
- 26:11So okay. All right.
- 26:13Um, I will give you a point for the Electric Mayhem.
- 26:17That's that's very generous and then the other one was performed
- 26:23by Miss Piggy? No, no.
- 26:29It wasn't. Do you remember what a guest
- 26:32when the Electric Mayhem performed it because they
- 26:34performed it with a guest star, when a guest Cloris Leachman?
- 26:41No Ryan. Can you steal?
- 26:44Hmm. No, unfortunately.
- 26:47Okay. So, first of all, in a
- 26:49construction site, the Electric Mayhem and Dudley Moore are
- 26:53performing how high the Moon - while it falls apart on them.
- 26:56And I had no idea that's what song that was.
- 26:59Yep. And then later in the Roger
- 27:02Moore episode Nigel, conducts, The Muppet Show pit Orchestra in
- 27:08a performance of it. Question 9, we got two more of
- 27:13these question. Nine for he's a jolly good
- 27:16fellow Jared that's sung. When they think it's Kim it's
- 27:24me. They correct.
- 27:26Do you remember what episode that is?
- 27:29Lala? No, I can see it was.
- 27:33Was that a female guest? Sure.
- 27:35But I'm not giving you a point for 50% of the guests.
- 27:41No, but I can see her with them all singing.
- 27:43It brunette or black hair or something.
- 27:46Um, she's got dark hair, you're right again.
- 27:48Still not still not giving show. I'm just gonna explain how he's
- 27:52going to find a woman and hopefully that will It's it's
- 28:00it's it's it's not I done that but I can't think of who it is.
- 28:08Can I steal this point? Sure, Brian.
- 28:10Who is it? It's Linda Lavin.
- 28:12It is Linda Lavin from the Muppets.
- 28:13Take Manhattan. Yes.
- 28:15The very same from the episode of The Muppets.
- 28:17Take Manhattan that I was on on Movin, right.
- 28:19Along. Jared, do you remember the other
- 28:21time because you buzzed in. No, I done.
- 28:27Okay, yeah, I don't know, either in the Loretta Swit, episode 0,
- 28:32on daily, The Muppets, The Muppets sing it backstage, when
- 28:36they think, Miss Piggy and Fufu are quitting The Muppet Show, I
- 28:41could say Loretta Swit, and I didn't say it and I'm believing
- 28:45by will sing for his a jolly good fellow himself.
- 28:53And the last question a Vincent Thrice question.
- 28:58Whoa for me and my gal, there are three correct answers here
- 29:04for a total of six points. Jared, okay, I'm just gonna take
- 29:12a punt and say why? No wonder no incorrect.
- 29:17If I don't know what a chicken I'm going to be very not God's
- 29:19Own a chicken either. I'll give you that Ryan.
- 29:22Can you name any of these? Yeah, I one of The Jug bands.
- 29:27No, no. I might must be thinking the
- 29:30different song but the old ladies.
- 29:33It's not the old ladies either. So, all right, there's three In
- 29:39order a chicken plays, it on bells in the Kris Kristofferson
- 29:45and Rita Coolidge. And the same, didn't think you'd
- 29:48get that mulch, sings it to a gargoyle in the Debbie Harry
- 29:53episode except he sings it. As, for me and my coil right?
- 30:00Waka waka and Gene Kelly sings it as part of the medley of
- 30:05songs, he's trying to sing instead of saying it in there,
- 30:09Okay. Okay.
- 30:11Well, that was a challenge. Yeah, but you guys stuck with it
- 30:18and I will congratulate you twice.
- 30:21Congrats, congrats. Now if you remember last
- 30:27season's finale, we had a special round all about
- 30:31hubba-wha, not the show hubba-wha but Frank Oz's,
- 30:36favorite random interjection, huh?
- 30:39Ha ha this season. I figured I'd modify it into a
- 30:44new but similar form in a game that I call Hubble law, says
- 30:59wobba. That's right, if you at home,
- 31:04were surprised about how I didn't talk about Wubba Wubba at
- 31:08all on the Monsters. Episode of this show.
- 31:11It's because I was saving all of my Waba Inge for this game.
- 31:16I will be asking you questions about Muppets saying
- 31:20wubba-wubba-wubba. Get these questions correct and
- 31:24you'll earn a point for each one, but please follow the
- 31:29rules. If you buzz in before, I'm done
- 31:32reading the question, I'll Wubba you question one who is the
- 31:38first? Sesame Street character to ever
- 31:41say wobba, when talking about things that monsters do Ryan,
- 31:51Ernie? It is Ernie.
- 31:53Yeah. Really in the introduction to
- 31:57the song imagination. He tells Burt that he can't
- 32:00sleep because he's afraid of monsters.
- 32:02Who say wobba wobba? Yeah, even back then they knew
- 32:07that that's just a thing monsters too.
- 32:09Question 2, one year earlier than that in 1971.
- 32:15Big bird says whabah as part of a secret handshake, with which
- 32:20one of his non-monster friends, Ryan, this is a guess but I'll
- 32:29say Gordon, it is not Gordon, good guess.
- 32:32Gordon is not a monster. So you got that, right?
- 32:37Is it? Bob is not Bob.
- 32:40It is. Big Bird's best friend little
- 32:43bird. Oh sure.
- 32:47Question 3. Wait, little birds has such a
- 32:49tiny hand. How can he do a secret
- 32:51handshake? I mean, I didn't re-watch the
- 32:53yeah, I'll tell you I use Muppet Wiki question 3, it's what
- 33:01monsters say, which Sesame Street crew member used this as
- 33:06an explanation when asked about the origins of the phrase while
- 33:10Bubba, Jared will adjust Stone. It is not Johnstone good guess
- 33:20was it Norman Styles? It was Norman Styles.
- 33:22Ryan you're our friend Johannes conducted that interview you can
- 33:28read it on tough pigs.com. Indeed I was there too by the
- 33:33way oh I'm sorry. Oh wow.
- 33:36Okay so now that's right I'm going to talk about things
- 33:40conversations I've had with people, huh?
- 33:42Chi. But um, I will say that I Check
- 33:47to the, I apologize. I just checked the article and
- 33:49Joe has the byline. He did other transcribing on
- 33:52that one so he gets. Yeah, he gets credit.
- 33:56That's all I checked. Yeah, question for in 1991, Elmo
- 34:02plays this appropriately named monster sport.
- 34:10Jared is it huh? Bubble?
- 34:14Mommy doll. I'll give it to you because it's
- 34:16wobbly. Yeah, that's why I said, hell
- 34:18yeah, hubba hubba. Now, we did that last season.
- 34:21Now we're on blah, blah. Question 5, what recurring
- 34:26Sesame Street sketch, featured characters saying Wubba, Wubba
- 34:30in every single episode. Jared.
- 34:38Ah, monster tree house, Jared. I'm not my clothes.
- 34:43You're so close. It wasn't a treehouse apply.
- 34:46Yes, it was. It a playhouse kindergarten.
- 34:50I can't walk give it to Ryan because he'll know it.
- 34:53It's monster Clubhouse. It is the monster Club House.
- 34:56Ah. And then they get chased by an
- 34:59elephant. It's true question.
- 35:01Six. In one of the two Kermit, the
- 35:04Frog. Mark person sketches, Kermit
- 35:09teaches Max furball femur how to avoid which Waba named monster.
- 35:17You are not going to know this one.
- 35:20Can you repeat the question? Sure.
- 35:22Well, let me let me, let me give a bit of explanation.
- 35:24Especially for folks at home, who might not, who will really
- 35:27not know this. Briefly in the 70s, there were
- 35:32two sketches to recurring sketches that were Kermit, the
- 35:35Frog smart person. Kermit is wearing a plaid
- 35:39jacket, and sitting behind a desk that says, Kermit the Frog,
- 35:43smart person, and humans would come up to him and Ask him for
- 35:48help solving problems. They only did this twice in one
- 35:52of these Kermit teaches Max furball femur about different
- 35:58emotions and one of them is fear and we learn that Max furball
- 36:04femur is afraid of a monster and the monster has Waba in its
- 36:08name. What is the monster that he's
- 36:12afraid of who has Wubba in its name?
- 36:18Ron's buzzed in Orion. Do you have a guess?
- 36:21Yeah I'm good. This is I'm just making this up.
- 36:24The Loch Ness Wubba Monster clothes and buy clothes I mean
- 36:31not close. Okay.
- 36:33Jared Can you steal that would pay the Bubblicious world of dr.
- 36:42Zeus further, it is. Of course, the great grey-green,
- 36:49greasy, Wubba Wubba monster. Well how coolly we didn't get
- 36:55that. Now, I said that curb it would
- 37:00help humans in these sketches and the humans were played by
- 37:03Sesame Street humans, who played Max furball femur in this
- 37:08sketch. Ryan.
- 37:13Amelia Doug Otto. It is Emilio Delgado.
- 37:18I've seen one of those sketches and he was in it.
- 37:20So I figured out where the gaps in the British furchester Hotel
- 37:26spinoff series. What is Phoebe's Waba themed
- 37:31catchphrase? I've seen so much of that show.
- 37:37She says it a lot. Yeah, my niece is obsessed with
- 37:40it. Ryan.
- 37:45Do you have a guess? I have a guess.
- 37:47Oh my Webber. I like it.
- 37:49But it's not that. Okay?
- 37:52It is it not. Is it just like Wubba, woo, or
- 37:54something like that? You would think it is.
- 37:57Fuzzle wobba now it is yeah. Oh fuzzle wobba.
- 38:03Wow. She says that a lot question 9,
- 38:06which first lady read a book about monsters saying wobba when
- 38:10she appeared on Sesame Street, Ryan, I think this is Laura
- 38:19Bush. It is Laura Bush.
- 38:23And here's a question that I wrote for myself and myself only
- 38:30in a track on his 2021 album garbology, which rapper rhymes
- 38:36wubba-wubba-wubba, with the words Tundra, nah ambra, number
- 38:42and Thunder. Jared your guess.
- 38:49Was it was it was that for? No, I know.
- 38:52I don't know. That was the, that was the
- 38:53buzzing for this. Was it?
- 38:59Kanye? No.
- 39:00I think he released his issue. Kanye, it's not a comedy.
- 39:04A good guess you said 20 21? Yeah.
- 39:09Came out last year. Tyler the Creator.
- 39:17No, it was a horse. Aesop Rock.
- 39:20And hey, do you hear something? It it sounds a little bit like a
- 39:28Like a clock. Oh, it's time for beat the time.
- 39:35Beat the time A game, A game inside of a game.
- 39:42What? Hubba-wha wobbly wheel of Wubba
- 39:49Inge so much. We are going to have a Wubba
- 39:52Wubba themed beat the time round.
- 39:56So for those who don't know, Beat the time is our
- 40:00head-to-head round starting with Jared.
- 40:03You are going to name a celebrity or group of
- 40:07celebrities who appeared in the celebrity version of monster in
- 40:12the Mirror wobba wobba song. Hmm.
- 40:16There are 25 total celebrities who appear in that sketch.
- 40:22Yeah, we're groups of celebrities.
- 40:24Yep. Jared you're going to name one.
- 40:26Then we'll pass to Ryan. You'll take turns until neither
- 40:30of you can name something if you get it wrong or you answer to
- 40:34slow, your opponent, will have a chance to steal.
- 40:37We'll keep going until neither of you can answer.
- 40:40So there are 25 of them. Jared name one The Simpsons.
- 40:46Correct. Well you took the easy one.
- 40:49Is that Canada's 105? I'm counting that as one.
- 40:51That's what that kind of really. Well, the group, one of two
- 40:56reasons why I included group, because okay.
- 40:59Yeah, yeah. There's another group in
- 41:02question, though. But Ryan, can you name a
- 41:04celebrity or group Geena Davis? Geena Davis is one of them.
- 41:12Jared. I hold the two on you.
- 41:16Um, I just trying to think of who was a celebrity, what year
- 41:20was this thing released? The early 90s I was maybe one
- 41:26inch maybe early 90s, I will check.
- 41:29Let's The Simpsons are Ram. So it was early nineties.
- 41:31Yeah. Let me just check the gear
- 41:36because that's a fair question to ask.
- 41:44We Season 22, which was 1990 1990.
- 41:49Okay. I want to say Rhea Perlman but I
- 41:59feel like she was in dance myself to sleep.
- 42:01That's Liberty. One, they did and Danny DeVito.
- 42:07I don't think they were in it as well, but left to go.
- 42:10Hang on, let's go with. Let's go Danny.
- 42:14Danny DeVito, not in this one. No didn't think so.
- 42:17Yeah. There because there was this
- 42:19there was there was put down the duckie and was there all but
- 42:22Democrats myself to sleep. I don't actually know if.
- 42:25Yeah, they danced during the instrumental be okay.
- 42:29And I think that 14 sing later to possibly, but they all have
- 42:34some of the same celebrities. Yes.
- 42:36And some different celebrities. Yeah, tricky but no, Danny
- 42:40DeVito is not in this one. Okay.
- 42:43Ryan, Robin Williams. Robin Williams is there.
- 42:49He is. He sure is interesting.
- 42:52It comes out of a trash can. Okay?
- 42:57Nonnie celebrity. Well 80s, celebrity is probably
- 43:01celebrities. Paul, Simon.
- 43:09Paul Simon is in, put down the duckie.
- 43:12Damn it along with Ladysmith black mambazo.
- 43:17Ryan. I-i'm pretty sure Whoopi
- 43:24Goldberg is in it. Whoopi.
- 43:26Goldberg is in it because it's always safe to guess.
- 43:29Whoopi Goldberg. I know.
- 43:30She's yeah, she's in every. Yeah.
- 43:33Yeah, Jared any other 90s late 80s celebrities I'm trying to
- 43:42hear that show. The luck style in the 80s and
- 43:44carried into the 90s. This Grover can't Dinner.
- 43:54No, no, no. Okay.
- 43:56Then no, I have no idea now. This was before Grover, got
- 43:59famous, it wasn't a celebrity So, it's the guy who played
- 44:09Dwayne Wayne on a different world whose name is, is it?
- 44:17Wait, wait, because I don't have Dwayne Wayne written.
- 44:20Is it? His last name is like Hardison
- 44:27or Harrison or give me a last name and I'll give it to you if
- 44:31you named his last name. Well I'll say Harrison.
- 44:37It's not Harrison, okay? Yeah, I don't know your clothes.
- 44:44Jared, you want to steal that one.
- 44:46Know who the hell is? Shane read doing Wayne from the
- 44:51sitcom, a different world. He had the he had the glasses
- 44:55with the flip up. Sunglasses Jared and from a
- 45:02different country. Yeah.
- 45:05And both of those things might be hindering your programs here.
- 45:10Nick. Right now, I'll just stop
- 45:11talking about obscure Australian thing.
- 45:12Yeah, of course, I can get those Yeah, lift off to reminisce
- 45:15chair lift off. Do you have no idea what you
- 45:17know? Of course, I don't.
- 45:18But I had a little puppet that gave me nightmares.
- 45:21They didn't appear on Sesame Street.
- 45:24Now, they didn't know, you know, some of these.
- 45:29Some of these are Muppet Show. Guest stars.
- 45:32Oh okay. Linda Lavin but good guess,
- 45:37right? If you want to try for the last
- 45:38name of Wayne's from different worlds, you can I mean it's not
- 45:45Harrison but you were close. Okay, so it is.
- 45:49It is it Hardison? It is Hardison, okay?
- 45:53Wow, Jared is something like Hakeem.
- 45:57It's Kadeem, Kadeem, okay? Yeah.
- 46:02But I feel like a last name is, you know, enough information.
- 46:05Okay, thank you. I'll take him.
- 46:09Jared, any gotchas? I got I've got nothing.
- 46:12I'm just I'm just I'm so ashamed of myself the sitting in a real
- 46:16shame spiral. I've been so excited to come to
- 46:18this podcast and I'm just, this is showing had terrible and
- 46:23listen, they're still there, still there, still more to come.
- 46:26And again, the sum of this is not about the Muppets.
- 46:29So you're going to give you a great or another perspective.
- 46:32You're showing that you have more important things.
- 46:36Yeah, good actually matter in real life to yeah your memory
- 46:40Again, like the Australian show. Liftoff, exactly, Ryan's, you
- 46:43want to knock out a couple? So, I'm trying to think of
- 46:46Sesame Street Gangsters from. Around this time, I'm going to
- 46:50say, En Vogue En Vogue is let me just make sure that there are no
- 46:55members of En Vogue who appeared separately, because I do not
- 46:59know their names. By heart unfortunately.
- 47:07No. None of the members of En Vogue.
- 47:10Okay. And you said there were Muppet
- 47:14Show. Guest stars, yeah.
- 47:21You get another one wrong and I'm going to call it.
- 47:24Well it is this going back to Jarrod though.
- 47:26Oh Jared I thought you are you awake?
- 47:31Yeah. I've thrown in the towel.
- 47:32It's just. Hey, but Ryan.
- 47:33If you got another one wrong, I'm calling it.
- 47:37Well, you know, these people. My now I do have no excuse.
- 47:41I just haven't, you would like a teenager?
- 47:45I wasn't a teenager yet but I haven't seen this thing in a
- 47:48long time. You lived in America.
- 47:52I did Pee-wee Herman was in put down the duckie.
- 47:57There's got to be some kind of athlete.
- 48:02There was on the show or is at least one athlete finance my
- 48:07age, Martina Navratilova. No, I just remember her doing
- 48:19something with big. What I do on the show her around
- 48:21that time, too, so I'm gonna call it.
- 48:24Okay. That's Wise.
- 48:25Wise Choice. Yes, some of these celebrities,
- 48:28I don't know some of them. Ya know, our celebrities you
- 48:33both know, even even Jared I'm sure.
- 48:36Um, so Maria, Conchita Alonso is the first.
- 48:42I'm not sure. I remember who she is.
- 48:46Number two Candice Bergen. Yes, number three.
- 48:50Ray Charles who sings a full verse by himself.
- 48:55Well, that's embarrassing. Number four Championship.
- 48:58Chubby Checker. Really?
- 49:00Yep. Number five.
- 49:01Glenn Close okay. Yeah, I remember her being on
- 49:04it. Number six time daily.
- 49:09Bo, Diddley Ebert and Siskel both pre Jurassic Park.
- 49:14Jeff Goldblum Charlene hunter-gault Bo Jackson, Kid and
- 49:23Play Robert MacNeil Lou Diamond Phillips Julia Roberts, Jeff
- 49:32Smith, presumably not the author of bone and Shazam.
- 49:38Now but I don't know who that Jeff Smith is I can check on
- 49:41Muppet Wiki because I don't either he's a celebrity chef who
- 49:45hosted The Frugal Gourmet. Okay?
- 49:48Which was a PBS cooking show and apparently Elmo showed up on
- 49:52that show. Periodically, good to know.
- 49:59Tracey Ullman. Blair Underwood and Malcolm
- 50:03Jamal Warner. Okay, so let me Ooh up the
- 50:08points. Brian's you got for celebrities
- 50:13and Jared? You got one.
- 50:16I got The Simpsons which I guess is it 5?
- 50:20But I'm not counting. That's fine.
- 50:22Damn it. I should have been like I'm like
- 50:24I feel like Maggie would only be half now.
- 50:27That's fair. Okay.
- 50:30Well you can't make like Grover and pass out just yet because
- 50:36it's time for one more throw. Back game, you know, last season
- 50:41we played a game called the people.
- 50:43You don't meet each day about some of my favorite 90s, Sesame
- 50:48Street characters, who no one else really cares about?
- 50:52Well, I decided to make this game even harder for our next
- 50:56round. Which I'm calling the people.
- 50:59You really don't meet each day. Look naming things as hard.
- 51:05And you know what else is hard, remembering.
- 51:07Some of the Jim Henson companies least re-watched projects.
- 51:13So in this game I'm going to name a character from a Jim
- 51:17Henson company film or TV program.
- 51:21Your job is to tell me what they're from and who played them
- 51:28after that. There might be some additional
- 51:30questions about the Der or the project.
- 51:34You'll understand when we get there, each correct answer is
- 51:38worth two points. Please, wait until I finish
- 51:41asking the question to buzz in. So Folks at home can at least
- 51:45attempt to play along. So just like in Vincent twice,
- 51:51you can get points for naming the show.
- 51:53They're from and who performed them buzz in.
- 51:56If you don't know both if you just know one, you'll still get
- 51:59points. Question 1.
- 52:02Bulb foot. Ryan both event of course, is
- 52:10the heir to the throne of the entire universe.
- 52:14He's from Aliens in the family. He sure is the the the all to
- 52:19short-lived. Henson company said come from
- 52:22the 90s. Do you remember who played?
- 52:26Oh, yes, he was formed by David Redmond, correct.
- 52:28Um, do you know who performed by Obits face David Rudd?
- 52:33It was doing the voice and body but not the face, I'm not sure.
- 52:38But all I'm still giving you points for yeah Rodman, but I'll
- 52:41Venture a guess and say John Kennedy it was John Kennedy.
- 52:46Kind of that era bonus question, good that you guys can buzz in
- 52:51for. So Jared you can answer this
- 52:54speaking of aliens in the family, how many episodes of
- 52:57aliens in the family ever aired Jared, right?
- 53:06It is eight Corral Jared. It's about those stupid things
- 53:10over on the back of my head that I hear you.
- 53:11So you see, here we go. Now, we're not talking about
- 53:13Muppets, we're talking about Creature Shop stuff.
- 53:16Now you're getting them. When will we be doing the round
- 53:20on the ABC series liftoff tire? That's the Australian I base
- 53:24that you sound I assumed. Yeah.
- 53:28Question 2 Gertrude Lintz. Hmm.
- 53:32I will tell you this is not a puppet character.
- 53:36Trying to think of something that would have said.
- 53:38Such a weed name in it, that wouldn't be weird in that.
- 53:42I don't think I've watched this one since it came out.
- 53:46Since it came out. I guess that's a clue.
- 53:50I was alive when it came in. Yeah.
- 53:53And how old are you? I'll be 31 in five.
- 53:57Okay. Uh, sorry.
- 53:58Okay, so you're only couple, you'll All Die Young to me.
- 54:01Okay. Ryan you buzzed in.
- 54:04Yeah, I mean, this is a guess, but I'll say this is a character
- 54:08from Jack and the Beanstalk the true story.
- 54:12It is not a character flaw. I was gonna say, okay, sorry.
- 54:17but, you know, As good. Guess.
- 54:20Yeah, around the state around the same time.
- 54:23So I'll tell you the movie and then I will still let you guys
- 54:28buzz in to name the actress. The movie is, of course, the
- 54:33first full-length Creature Shop movie buddy.
- 54:39Ryan and Avery. So it is Rene Russo.
- 54:42Who? Of course, I learned this week
- 54:45is not the same person as Renee O'Connor.
- 54:48I don't even know who Rene O'Connor is.
- 54:50She played Gabby Xena's sidekick on, Xena Warrior Princess.
- 54:56No, that's a very different people though they're not the
- 54:58same. Um, so bonus question.
- 55:01Again, either of you can buzz in for this name, at least one
- 55:05person who helped perform buddy. The gorilla for this movie.
- 55:14Jared Allen Troutman. No.
- 55:18Ah I will tell you there are there are one, two, three, four,
- 55:25five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve people who
- 55:31brought buddy the gorilla to life in a movie that not even
- 55:36you guys remember. Ryan, can you name one of the
- 55:40people who brought brought buddy the gorilla to life, Michelle
- 55:44insist e or Michael and sisti? However, it's pronounced.
- 55:48You are right. I'm not sure if Michelin or
- 55:52might be Salon sounds? I think it's Misha Lon, but yes,
- 55:58that is one of the people who brought buddy to life others on
- 56:03the list that I would have accepted Peter Elliot Mack
- 56:06Wilson, Lynn Robertson, Bruce, Mark Sealy, Rob Tighe, Nur
- 56:11Peter, Hearst Leaf, Tilden star Townsend and vocals.
- 56:15Provided by Gary a Hecker, ha. See Gita and the That was
- 56:21guessable. Frank Welker?
- 56:23Oh sure. Now okay if we need animal noise
- 56:26yeah that's all he does. Frank Welker question 3 Miss
- 56:31Suzie. The Henson company project Jared
- 56:37is that Jack In the Beanstalk. No but this is much newer than
- 56:43Jack and the Beanstalk Miss Suzie newer than Jack and the
- 56:47Beanstalk. Yes Henson company.
- 56:50Yes, these are all Henson Company.
- 56:52Products lie. None of these are Muppets or
- 56:56Sesame Street. Turkey.
- 57:00Hollow it is not Turkey Hollow. Miss Suzie is of course the
- 57:06teacher on Sid the Science Kid. Okay, can anybody name the
- 57:13performer of Miss Suzy, Donna? Kimball it is done a Kimble
- 57:18General with Sonia. Leslie, performing the mocap
- 57:25because that show used mocap question for Jack Robinson.
- 57:32Brian, this has to be Jack In the Beanstalk.
- 57:37The true story. It is Jack In the Beanstalk.
- 57:39The real story, do you remember who played Jack Robinson in Jack
- 57:44and the Beanstalk the train? I'm picturing it being Matthew
- 57:48Modine, it is Matthew Modine? Yeah, somebody somebody tell
- 57:53tell the B-52s because it is Modine.
- 58:00There's a reference for you guys.
- 58:02I like that one. So here's yeah.
- 58:04See that that music reference people get.
- 58:07So another question, the female lead in this TV series who was
- 58:12of course, named on Dean, no relation to Modine is that you
- 58:18ending and on Dean was of course the adopted daughter of Thunder
- 58:23delve a giant. You remember this?
- 58:26You you know these things which Member of the Henson family
- 58:32played on Dean. Jared you busted a little early
- 58:38but I'll give it. Did it's fine and it's Brian's
- 58:44wife correct. It is Brian's wife.
- 58:46What they may or may am a meow meow, she's in Ferris Bueller.
- 58:50She isn't Ferris Bueller and she's wonderful and she smiled
- 58:53at me once in Melbourne. Yeah MIA MIA MIA mi amor.
- 59:00You guys are singing opera yeah. I am gonna give it to you
- 59:07because you are so close on. Such a does this not with an
- 59:11assertion? It does start with an ass?
- 59:14Yeah, I want to, once I met it's not solved for they know.
- 59:19What's who's that? There's somebody else mirrors
- 59:22for someone else. Yeah.
- 59:23And he's okay. Okay, Jared.
- 59:25See if you can spot. Brian Henson's wife.
- 59:29Mia Sara in this episode of Jack and the Beanstalk, the real
- 59:33stuff. Now question, what Henson role
- 59:39did Mia Sara previously auditioned for Ryan Sarah and
- 59:50Labyrinth. Correct question question 3 or
- 59:54third follow-up question about Jack?
- 59:56And the Beanstalk, the real story because I know you're
- 59:59itching to answer this, who played the role of on Dean's.
- 1:00:02Father Thunder Del the Giant. Ryan bill mereta, it is Bill
- 1:00:10Beretta in a non puppet roll. Yeah, is Bill Beretta walking
- 1:00:15around Big Balls. Giant I have seen Jack In the
- 1:00:19Beanstalk. The real story, we watched it at
- 1:00:22school. I've only remember watching it
- 1:00:25at school, not like as an educational thing but like as a
- 1:00:30like, oh it's almost winter break like, here's something
- 1:00:33that we can watch. And I will say it is on Amazon.
- 1:00:36I tried re-watching it during like lockdown.
- 1:00:42Um, and I you know I love a lot of the things.
- 1:00:46The Henson company is done. I could not make it through the
- 1:00:50first episode. How many episodes are there?
- 1:00:53I think three it was a mini. It was it was one of their like
- 1:00:57they were doing like Prestige miniseries, right?
- 1:01:00That which doesn't exist anymore on network.
- 1:01:02So that today this would be a Netflix Series.
- 1:01:05That would be like, like 10 hour-long episodes, like 60
- 1:01:10Minute episodes, and it would be way too long and 10 interminable
- 1:01:14episodes. Yes, Mia Sara from Ferris,
- 1:01:17Bueller. Not giving Matthew mon Dean.
- 1:01:21Excuse me, Matthew Modine enough information to solve the mystery
- 1:01:25of the giant bones question. Five, fifth character here
- 1:01:32Hubble. Aw.
- 1:01:38Does that name sound familiar? Only because I'm thinking of
- 1:01:40Hoggle. Yeah, it's not Hoggle.
- 1:01:43I'm not gonna make it that easy not in the finale.
- 1:01:47Hubble heavily of Allah, like, the astronomer And this is
- 1:01:56something that was actually produced by the Jim Henson
- 1:01:58company, or they worked on it. Ryan.
- 1:02:07I'm attempting to just get one point because it sounds like it
- 1:02:10could be a character from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the
- 1:02:12Galaxy. It is not a character from The
- 1:02:14Hitchhiker's Guide, but yes, dance and Company did work on
- 1:02:17that. Ya know, they were more involved
- 1:02:21with this one than hitchhikers. Okay.
- 1:02:24There's a show trying to think of about monsters monsters in
- 1:02:30the fit and I wasn't much news. Van was the aliens one because
- 1:02:33it's nice because I know it's not that.
- 1:02:35Aliens in the family. We did that one monsters in the
- 1:02:39Attic or something. Well, it's rather like I go,
- 1:02:43it's not. It's everyone's favorite dog
- 1:02:47movie. That Danny horn, had to talk
- 1:02:51about once on tough pigs. Back in the early 2000s.
- 1:02:54Good boy. Yeah.
- 1:02:56Who played Hubble and good boy. You can buzz in.
- 1:03:00If you remember, Ryan, I Know Carl Reiner did a voice in the
- 1:03:08movie. It is not Carl Reiner a good
- 1:03:11guess. Is this the voice?
- 1:03:14Yeah, I mean, I'm not asking you to name the dog Leslie Nielsen.
- 1:03:18It was not, it was Matthew Broderick.
- 1:03:22Spanky a Ferris Bueller. Oh yeah.
- 1:03:25Dagnabbit. Well, a lot of very Ferris,
- 1:03:28Bueller, heavy, heavy episode next time I'm just going to
- 1:03:32whatever the next question is, the answer is out.
- 1:03:34Rach. Well question. 66 character here
- 1:03:37is Grohl trod. Ryan.
- 1:03:43I gotta make a guess brats of the last nebula.
- 1:03:46It is not brat sofa. Last nebula.
- 1:03:48Good guests. What's brats of the Lost nebula?
- 1:03:52Well, imagine that brats were in a loss nebula.
- 1:03:58That one I think I cancelled after one episode.
- 1:04:01It was on Saturday mornings on Fox.
- 1:04:03It was yeah and puppets didn't last, I don't have any questions
- 1:04:07about brats of the Lala but was that Was that age of resistance?
- 1:04:15It is not age of resistance. Worth noting brats of the Lost
- 1:04:20nebula was a creature shop project that aired on WB in
- 1:04:251998. Bill Beretta worked on it.
- 1:04:31John Kennedy Trish sleeper Gordon Robertson.
- 1:04:35A lot of people that we know there were 13 episodes recorded
- 1:04:40only three Ever aired in the United States, three, the rest
- 1:04:45did release in in Canada and apparently, they're now on Roku
- 1:04:51all 13 of them. Why haven't we, why haven't we
- 1:04:54been Ryan? Write this down.
- 1:04:56I don't know. This sounds like something I
- 1:04:57would have covered by my. Yeah, yeah, and it says here on
- 1:05:01Muppet Wiki ironically, brats of the Lost nebula was selected by
- 1:05:06TV Guide, as one of the top ten children series of the year in
- 1:05:10the same week that WB Canceled the series of w, be doing it,
- 1:05:16doing it, then, too. This is a timely reference when
- 1:05:19we're recording this anyway. The character Grohl trod of
- 1:05:23course appears in Gulliver's Travels played by whom I was
- 1:05:29going to say Ted Danson but obviously he's like Gulliver, is
- 1:05:33that guy? Can I ask you this?
- 1:05:35Is it puppet character, or is it a like an actor?
- 1:05:38No, it's an actor. There are basically no puppet
- 1:05:40characters in In that movie that miniseries.
- 1:05:43Yeah, I don't, I guess they did like effects.
- 1:05:47I'm not actually certain what they did.
- 1:05:51I've watched this one in school to for what it's worth although
- 1:05:55that was tied into the book. We were reading.
- 1:06:00Was it was it mild night? Danny DeVito.
- 1:06:03It is not any of you don't greet guests though.
- 1:06:06Zan's? Like that sort of name like he'd
- 1:06:07play. That kind of character.
- 1:06:09Yeah, great guess, Ryan Can you steal?
- 1:06:12I cannot. Okay.
- 1:06:14It is of course, lots of hug and bear himself, Ned Beatty.
- 1:06:20Hey now here's a bonus question, obviously Gulliver's Travels is
- 1:06:26a work of classic literature that gets referenced all.
- 1:06:29All the time, but in the computer game, Grover's travels.
- 1:06:34This particular adaptation is specifically referenced.
- 1:06:37When a twiddle bug, complains that Grover Jared, is it that
- 1:06:46guy from cheese? I'll give it to you.
- 1:06:48Doesn't look like Ted Danson. That was a pure guess, huh?
- 1:06:56Doesn't look like that guy from. Cheers is honestly funnier.
- 1:06:59That it's yeah, that's fine. All right, questions seven.
- 1:07:05Anti Helena. Ryan.
- 1:07:12This is from MirrorMask, it is from mirrors like the, the sort
- 1:07:17of evil twin version of the main character.
- 1:07:19Correct. You remember the name of the
- 1:07:22actress who played the main character and her evil twin?
- 1:07:25It is something like Stephanie Leonidas.
- 1:07:31You got it right? Okay.
- 1:07:32I have no idea how you pulled that.
- 1:07:35Let me tell you, I saw MirrorMask in the theater.
- 1:07:39I was thinking well, I was maybe one of only two people in that
- 1:07:43theater. I didn't see it in theaters.
- 1:07:45I was, I was alive then. Committed enough to the gym
- 1:07:48isn't company to go skate. It's pretty good, though.
- 1:07:50Don't know. It's not bad.
- 1:07:51Yeah, it's very strange. But it's yeah.
- 1:07:55Well, here's some, here's some bonus questions.
- 1:07:56About MirrorMask, MirrorMask was originally conceived as a sequel
- 1:08:01to which Henson film Ryan Labyrinth the Labyrinth second
- 1:08:10follow-up question. Why wasn't the film a sequel to
- 1:08:14Labyrinth? Jared, they couldn't get Bowie.
- 1:08:23They couldn't get something but it's not Bowie.
- 1:08:25I couldn't get the rights to it. Yes I will.
- 1:08:33I feel like I need a little more specificity.
- 1:08:37Okay. They couldn't get the rights to
- 1:08:39Labyrinth. Okay, yes.
- 1:08:46That's all I'm sticking with that.
- 1:08:47Ryan. Do you do you have any, any more
- 1:08:49specific answer there. They couldn't get the rights to
- 1:08:54the, the Brian froud Creations. They couldn't get the rights
- 1:09:02that were still owned by lucasfilm, because film was not
- 1:09:06on board with them. Making example, huh, question 8,
- 1:09:11a mischievous duck named Hugo. Ryan Hugo is from Julie's, Green
- 1:09:24Room. He is Netflix series with Julie
- 1:09:26Andrews and he is performed by Tyler.
- 1:09:29Bunch, is performed by Tyler Bunch.
- 1:09:31He is one of the highlights of that series question, nine Bode,
- 1:09:37the Tibetan Mastiff. It might be body.
- 1:09:40The Tibetan Mastiff. I've never watched this one.
- 1:09:43Jared is it like cats and dogs? It is not cats and dogs.
- 1:09:47Good guess? Okay.
- 1:09:51Ryan, Can you steal the sound? So familiar is, I think he's
- 1:09:57from the Curious creations of Christine McConnell.
- 1:10:00He is not. It's from the film Rock, dog,
- 1:10:04which the Jim Henson company did work on light.
- 1:10:08Not producing who plays body or Bodie?
- 1:10:12The Tibetan mastiff in rock, dog.
- 1:10:15Can I ask a clarifying question? Yes.
- 1:10:18Is or I mean maybe you don't ask this but is Is he the titular
- 1:10:21Rock, dog? Yes, Chevy Chase.
- 1:10:25Know what? Can I ask what year it came out?
- 1:10:29Like two years ago? I think hold that guy.
- 1:10:33Oh God. Okay, 2016.
- 1:10:38So more than two years ago Russell Brand it's an animated
- 1:10:42movie. It was co-produced by a Chinese
- 1:10:46animation company, hence, why he's a Tibetan Mastiff.
- 1:10:51And the Henson company did not produce it, but did additional
- 1:10:55work on it is on Muppet Wiki because had additional work, the
- 1:11:00answer is Luke Wilson. Now one thing that the Henson
- 1:11:05company Henson company, again, helped out a little with
- 1:11:09character design in particular. Peter de seve was the character
- 1:11:14designer for the movie and Peter decisive had previously designed
- 1:11:19some characters for Sesame Street name, one recurring
- 1:11:24character, he designed that debuted in Sesame Street's 40th.
- 1:11:28Season, there are five listed characters.
- 1:11:31He designed recurring characters, who debuted in
- 1:11:34Sesame, Street's 40th season. Ryan, was that a buzz?
- 1:11:41And yeah, ovejita, it is not overheat.
- 1:11:45A good. Guess she's probably a few years
- 1:11:47earlier than that. Yeah, um, It's not Mari, is it?
- 1:11:52It's not marry me Celia. Yeah, berries.
- 1:11:55Also all earlier. So yeah, the the secret clue
- 1:11:58that was in here. Was that rock.
- 1:12:00Dog is a computer animated movie.
- 1:12:05Because I'm, of course, thinking of blog, gonnigan niblet, mrs.
- 1:12:09Sparklenose, and Peck the chicken of course.
- 1:12:13Yeah. And last question in this round,
- 1:12:17Goofer, the sounds very familiar.
- 1:12:21Ryan Goofer is from the Happy Time.
- 1:12:24Murders, Goofer is from the happy.
- 1:12:26Tha, yes, he is. And you remember who plays
- 1:12:29Goofer I do. Well, Ryan buzzed in so Brian
- 1:12:34doesn't remember will pass to Jared thinking about who might
- 1:12:37have worked on that movie. My colostrum.
- 1:12:43It is not Michael, who Strom, okay, Center messy, it is Drew
- 1:12:46Massey, nice work Jared. So here's a follow-up.
- 1:12:50Question. Should I see the Happy Time
- 1:12:54murders? Well it is what it is.
- 1:12:57This is a question that every fan of the Jim Henson company
- 1:13:01must ask themselves at a certain point in their life.
- 1:13:04No I think I've seen Gulliver's Travels and I've seen yeah
- 1:13:07Beanstalk the real story and I've seen Sid the Science Kid.
- 1:13:11Here's the thing though. None of those are like sub like
- 1:13:19sixth grade boy, level humor. So it's maybe just watch it once
- 1:13:27or see how far you can get into it.
- 1:13:29But but you know practice self-care.
- 1:13:32Make sure that you promised yourself before you start the
- 1:13:34you don't have to make it all the way through.
- 1:13:36You can turn it off. Plenty of water.
- 1:13:38Yes, stay hydrated throughout it.
- 1:13:40Um it's it's fine but like Fine. Oh, and what's that?
- 1:13:48It's fine. It's I watched it.
- 1:13:49I went to a preview screening and then I saw it again before I
- 1:13:52wrote my review, just make sure I agree with everything I've
- 1:13:54written and that's last time. I've watched it and I'm not in a
- 1:13:57rush to watch it again. Well, you remembered that Drew
- 1:13:59Massey played Goofer anyway, we are coming up on the end of the
- 1:14:04show. Sorry, I know this one ran a
- 1:14:07little longer but I think that's fitting for a finale.
- 1:14:11We're coming up on the end of our show, but now the points are
- 1:14:13even bigger because we have Heard the anything in the world,
- 1:14:17prize game. You guys are now able to ask me
- 1:14:20anything in the world or at least anything in the world of
- 1:14:23Henson on The Muppets. Each of you will get to ask me a
- 1:14:27champion level question about a Henson or Muppet fing of your
- 1:14:31choice. If you stumped me, you'll earn
- 1:14:3310 points. So let's start with Jared Jared.
- 1:14:36You have a question for me. I do I do let me just stop pull
- 1:14:41up my notes, okay. Becca, the very first episode of
- 1:14:48Sesame Street was brought to you by which letters and numbers.
- 1:14:54This is a great question and I wish I knew I will be completely
- 1:14:58honest with you, I will be guessing so guy, I'll give you,
- 1:15:02I'll give you a little bit of help.
- 1:15:04There were three letters and two numbers.
- 1:15:06See, I would have gotten it wrong already because I thought
- 1:15:08it was two and two back then. So it is of course, the letters.
- 1:15:13Hmm. W.
- 1:15:15I'm going to tell you if you're incorrect or correct, when you
- 1:15:17know what I'm fine. I'm just gonna, I mean, why am I
- 1:15:19even waiting? I'm just guessing randomly okay
- 1:15:22w d and our and the numbers were of course 3 and 7.
- 1:15:32You got two of the five correct? Okay.
- 1:15:35Wow. It was brought to you by the
- 1:15:37letters w. S&E.
- 1:15:41And by the numbers two and three.
- 1:15:45So So I knew W because for whatever reason, I mean Maybe
- 1:15:51I'm Wrong, maybe this is just a coincidence, but I feel like I
- 1:15:54remember W the W which cart there was like a Dublin, which
- 1:15:59cartoon Wanda the which I think is in it like more than what at
- 1:16:02least two times. Yeah.
- 1:16:05And this is, I didn't have that many.
- 1:16:07Yeah, I mean. Well so I remembered that.
- 1:16:11So that was why I was like started with W the others.
- 1:16:15I had no idea. It's always been, kind of funny
- 1:16:18to me that they didn't move. Numerically like the first
- 1:16:26episode is ABC and one and two. Yeah, yeah yeah, and I wonder
- 1:16:31how they decided this I guess I wouldn't be surprised if like at
- 1:16:36that point in the show they were like, well we have more
- 1:16:38cartoons, we made with the number two in them right there
- 1:16:42were like, okay, the the Jay cartoons are still, the
- 1:16:46animators are still working on, we got to wait till the end of
- 1:16:48the season to get to that. All right, well Jared, you have
- 1:16:54earned yourself, an additional 10 points, amazing Ryan.
- 1:17:00So mine is also about Sesame Street.
- 1:17:02This is something that I only recently learned about via
- 1:17:07Muppet Wiki. So I'm I'm betting on you.
- 1:17:11Not also having recently learned about as yeah, Muppet Wiki, but
- 1:17:14we'll see in Seasons 7 and 8 of Sesame Street.
- 1:17:20Treat there was a Muppet character who was the
- 1:17:23superintendent of 123 Sesame Street.
- 1:17:27So the question is, what was her name and which Muppet performer
- 1:17:32performed her? I don't know this and it's
- 1:17:36funny. I know.
- 1:17:38I have definitely heard Shane talking about this.
- 1:17:42Okay, at one point because as has been established on this
- 1:17:46show, Shane kind of is Muppet Wiki.
- 1:17:50Um, if Muppet Wiki were a person, I'm gonna guess her name
- 1:17:56is Gladys because all Muppets are named Gladys and she was
- 1:18:02performed. Bye.
- 1:18:05Jerry Nelson. Fortunately, it does you're both
- 1:18:09incorrect. She, her name is Winnie,
- 1:18:12Wiggins. And she was performed by Richard
- 1:18:15Hunt, should have gone with gladys's performers.
- 1:18:20Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:18:21And if you because both both other gladys's are Richard hot?
- 1:18:25Yes, that's interesting. And if you look at a picture of
- 1:18:29her on Muppet Wiki, you can hear the Richard Hunt Voice without.
- 1:18:33Yeah, even that. Actually hearing the recording
- 1:18:35of it. You can just tell by looking at
- 1:18:37the picture with his voice. For that character would sound
- 1:18:40like Winnie Wiggins. She only appeared in a handful
- 1:18:43of episodes. I don't know why they dropped
- 1:18:45her after that, but I see. And she's in the Sesame Street
- 1:18:48cookbook. Yes.
- 1:18:50I think we need to bring back when he.
- 1:18:52Yeah, sure. Yeah.
- 1:18:53And it's funny because in season 10 and we talked about this, we
- 1:18:56talked about this last season and we talked about this this
- 1:18:59season in season 10, they pitched the idea of Ernie and
- 1:19:03Bert. Lady right.
- 1:19:05Yes, is a similar character cousin and this was only two
- 1:19:09years after they stopped using the super you feel.
- 1:19:13Yes. The same thing.
- 1:19:15I mean I know that a superintendent and a landlord
- 1:19:19are not the same. No, no.
- 1:19:21But they I mean they work together I was gonna say in for
- 1:19:24the sake of the plot of Sesame split, it's not going to be
- 1:19:28functionally different, right? All right.
- 1:19:30So you've also earned yourself 10 points, all right.
- 1:19:33And now Now we can move into our final round.
- 1:19:37Save the word. But first, a look at the scores
- 1:19:41Jared you have 47 points. Ryan you have 80 points.
- 1:19:48Oh, I'll leave Shell, I'll go. Hey, listen, Jared it's still
- 1:19:52anybody's game because in this last round I'm going to be
- 1:19:56asking you one challenging question about a muppet
- 1:19:59production. After you hear the question,
- 1:20:02you'll each send me your guests. As well as the point value, that
- 1:20:07you are going to bet, okay? So we're going to end where we
- 1:20:13began with the Muppet Show. You know, I've been re Watching
- 1:20:18the Muppet Show and I noticed something a little odd in every
- 1:20:23episode. It's Kermit who says the guest
- 1:20:25stars name, just Kermit have a monopoly on saying the guest
- 1:20:30stars name during the theme song.
- 1:20:32No, there is one Muppet other than Kermit who said a guest
- 1:20:38stars name during the Muppet Show theme song, which Muppet
- 1:20:42was it and which guest star do they name?
- 1:20:47So you guys are going to send me a bet and the answer to both of
- 1:20:53those questions. Whoever gets more of those two
- 1:20:57questions, correct will win their points.
- 1:21:00So if Ryan gets none of them but Jared only gets one of them
- 1:21:04Jared will win points, right? Okay.
- 1:21:08All right. You're going to send them to me
- 1:21:11and how many points will go? 47, 47.
- 1:21:13And Ryan you have 80. So again, there is one, let me
- 1:21:17read this because I want to be very clear.
- 1:21:19There is one Muppet other than Kermit who said a guest stars
- 1:21:23name during the Muppet Show theme song, which Muppet is it
- 1:21:29and which guest star do they name?
- 1:21:36This is during the original run of the show.
- 1:21:39This is not like when they perform the Muppet Show Theme,
- 1:21:42you know, at the O2 or whatever. Okay, I've got my answer, I just
- 1:21:50haven't thought about the guests.
- 1:21:54Okay, you just have to hope that, you know, more of these
- 1:21:57two answers than than your opponent does.
- 1:22:04And submitted. Okay, okay, well, you reach,
- 1:22:14guest the same Muppet, but different guest stars, you also
- 1:22:20each bet different amounts of points.
- 1:22:25Jared, you bet, 47 points, all in baby Jared which Muppet did
- 1:22:31you name? I guess, Fozzie Bear and which
- 1:22:35guest star? Did you say Fozzie Bear said
- 1:22:38during the theme song? I don't love the answer, but I
- 1:22:41did say, Julie Andrews. Okay, Ryan, you bet one point.
- 1:22:47And you also said, Fozzie Bear, says how confident I am?
- 1:22:51Although, yeah, I policy is the second banana, you know, that
- 1:22:54it's still going to be anybody's going to be, huh?
- 1:22:56Sure, I mean, makes sense and which guests started your name.
- 1:23:00I said, Nancy Walker, which I'm just remembering.
- 1:23:02That's the one where Kermit is out sick, I think.
- 1:23:05Yeah, Kermit's out sick, but Kermit is still there for the
- 1:23:08theme song. Least.
- 1:23:10Let me double-check. I'm sure you get anxious.
- 1:23:14When when guests I'm sure you're right.
- 1:23:19I will check the yeah. It's still Kermit in the so
- 1:23:27Neither of you are right on any of these damned if I'm gonna
- 1:23:31lose all 47 points. That does mean you lose all the
- 1:23:35yes, but I will be honest with you guys.
- 1:23:40This was a trick question. What nothing I said was a lie
- 1:23:47but It is not the name of the guest star of the episode that
- 1:23:54it said in because in the Liza Minnelli episode and then reused
- 1:24:01in the Jean-Pierre rampal episode, after blowing his
- 1:24:05trumpet, Gonzo says, eat your heart out.
- 1:24:10Dizzy Gillespie. That's it.
- 1:24:13Wow, dirty trick. That is a biggie trick.
- 1:24:19It's Are just not that I never said it had to be the guest star
- 1:24:23of that episode. So Ryan by guessing carefully by
- 1:24:29betting carefully. Yeah you are our winner you one
- 1:24:35last season's finale to with 79 points.
- 1:24:40So you win your choice of A magnet of Ned Beatty or this,
- 1:24:52two-piece magnet, I made of Yorick you can use to.
- 1:24:56Wow, thanks, I gotta say, I was really excited when you said a
- 1:25:01magnet of dead baby, I don't actually have that.
- 1:25:04I would have to make it, I know, traditionally on this show.
- 1:25:08People always choose the Muppet themed price.
- 1:25:10But yes, I have to go with the York magnets up there.
- 1:25:15That will be will be sent to your way and that brings us to
- 1:25:18the end of another one so guests.
- 1:25:21Where can people find you? If you wish to be found, let's

- 1:26:37Maybe. I haven't, who knows the, the,
- 1:26:40the timeline is weird. It's a, it isn't weird timeline
- 1:26:43maybe. Yeah.

- 1:28:09with wobba wobba. I'd like to thank some people
