- 0:29Speaker 3: It's it's funny like, yeah, well they're all live in
- 0:32Speaker 3: front of people, in front of people.
- 0:33Speaker 2: But where's where's Semi well Samin?
- 0:36Speaker 1: What about it? Origin Origin Night? And although I guess
- 0:40Speaker 1: he is busy, he's down in Melbourne for Channel Line.
- 0:42Speaker 2: It doesn't work.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I don't get it, Like I don't know how it
- 0:44Speaker 3: can be, So it doesn't work. But he's never here?
- 0:47Speaker 1: No, and what in life? And what about Sammy? Like
- 0:50Speaker 1: when we got our radio jobs back at Kiss he
- 0:52Speaker 1: was all about us not having.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Our priorities right, he had not been there.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Here we are, our first live recording in front of
- 0:58Speaker 1: an audience, and he hasn't showed up.
- 0:59Speaker 2: No classic it's nice. Yeah we should get he shouldn't
- 1:02Speaker 2: get he shouldn't get paid this month.
- 1:04Speaker 1: No, he hasn't been well. We are going to talk
- 1:06Speaker 1: to him from the g the We're going to call
- 1:07Speaker 1: him and we're also going to talk to the King
- 1:09Speaker 1: Wally Lewis.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Here's a good Sammis cut in the lead up of
- 1:12Speaker 2: the King fair enough.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's coming up soon, actually about ten minutes.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I reckon, we'll get the King on.
- 1:16Speaker 3: It's a good drop the beer and can I know
- 1:19Speaker 3: the Queensland Ka beer and I've got in trouble for
- 1:21Speaker 3: that last night.
- 1:21Speaker 1: No, not buk So. And we're at We are at
- 1:26Speaker 1: Darling and Co. Though, which just across the road from Suncorp.
- 1:29Speaker 1: We can we can see Suncorp very quiet there tonight.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Of course that'll be the place for Game three.
- 1:35Speaker 2: But the decider, Yes, what a place that is for
- 1:38Speaker 2: a decider.
- 1:39Speaker 1: So ins and outs? You want to talk about some
- 1:41Speaker 1: of the ins and outs for the game tonight because
- 1:44Speaker 1: this will this will drop tonight this podcast and then
- 1:46Speaker 1: we'll have the.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Limiting outs for the team that won.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I know, classic New South walesn't it. I think Ethan
- 1:53Speaker 1: Strange probably the hardest done by. He had such a
- 1:56Speaker 1: great game for Game one for New South Wales and
- 1:59Speaker 1: was back on the bench.
- 2:00Speaker 3: The only two that I feel worthy Mitch Moses and Pains.
- 2:06Speaker 3: I don't think the others that don't make sense to me.
- 2:09Speaker 3: But why why would what would you change it?
- 2:12Speaker 1: If you were picking the team? Would you take Ethan
- 2:14Speaker 1: Strange out? For Mitchell Moses though.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I'd probably have him in the team at somewhere. But yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 3: I'm a big fan of Moses. I'd rather Moses not
- 2:22Speaker 3: in the team as a Queenslander. Yeah, I would have
- 2:26Speaker 3: loved to have seen him not in the team, but
- 2:28Speaker 3: I would have kept Strange somewhere.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I actually laughed about Gallen.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Putting him in the centers and I thought about it
- 2:37Speaker 3: and I really like it.
- 2:38Speaker 1: He was a ball runner, isn't he Like.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's strong and he can and he can
- 2:43Speaker 3: he can defend well, so.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I think they missed out with that. But he's still
- 2:48Speaker 2: on the bench, so he's a chance.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Of coming in begins for Queensland. Reesey Walsh and surprised
- 2:54Speaker 1: a lot of people given his current form.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Surprise me.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I just I'm hoping it's it'll, you know, for
- 3:03Speaker 3: the reason to spark his confidence again. I want to
- 3:05Speaker 3: see while she's playing good foota not just for queens
- 3:08Speaker 3: and you know, and also not just for the Bronx,
- 3:10Speaker 3: kind of for himself.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I want to see it for him because we all
- 3:14Speaker 2: know what he can do.
- 3:15Speaker 3: He's ad a up and down season, you know, injury
- 3:18Speaker 3: and the confidence you know, as soon as you play
- 3:21Speaker 3: a bad game after a season that he had, you
- 3:23Speaker 3: get you get scrutinized and straight on the front of
- 3:28Speaker 3: the bus. But we learn that much money, you can't really,
- 3:31Speaker 3: you can't keep doing this.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So I want to see it for him.
- 3:35Speaker 4: I want to.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I just want to see the confidence back, mainly for him,
- 3:38Speaker 3: because then if that happens and it's it's it's great
- 3:41Speaker 3: for all of us. So I don't know where he'll
- 3:44Speaker 3: come on. If he does come on, it might be
- 3:46Speaker 3: an injury, it might be that's why he's there, or
- 3:49Speaker 3: depends on how the game goes, you know, because both
- 3:52Speaker 3: players are completely different.
- 3:54Speaker 1: In the situation in the last game where Ponger obviously
- 3:58Speaker 1: center or sent off, would you bring Reese Walsh in
- 4:01Speaker 1: that situation so that he can play and fullback and
- 4:04Speaker 1: move and take another player off?
- 4:06Speaker 2: You probably? Yeah, you probably do, But I don't know
- 4:08Speaker 2: who you take off.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's his capes works so hard.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah, now you've got Capble there, Yeah, Capble cable.
- 4:16Speaker 3: You the funniestory about him. He started on the wing,
- 4:18Speaker 3: I started in the back row, and then we swapped. Yeah, right,
- 4:21Speaker 3: and now he's one of the most reliable players in
- 4:24Speaker 3: the game. Yeah, he does his job no matter where
- 4:26Speaker 3: you put him at prop you know, half back, he
- 4:29Speaker 3: could play hook I reckon if if you gave him
- 4:32Speaker 3: a goal with it. But yeah, he is mister reliable,
- 4:34Speaker 3: and I think having a player like that, you know,
- 4:37Speaker 3: it doesn't matter what happens in the game.
- 4:39Speaker 2: He can feel that spot. So yeah, it's a it's
- 4:42Speaker 2: a hard one.
- 4:43Speaker 3: I don't know where they're going to put him, but
- 4:45Speaker 3: it'll be interesting to see what happens.
- 4:46Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm really excited.
- 4:51Speaker 1: And you know, the amount of Dolphins in the team
- 4:53Speaker 1: is indicative of fact good there going.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Well, they got six five five five in the team.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and he's but he's he's going great for the Dolphins.
- 5:01Speaker 1: So he'll come on what he reckons twenty minutes in
- 5:04Speaker 1: something like.
- 5:04Speaker 3: That, Yeah, I reckon maybe fifteen, Yeah, fifteen, Yeah, probably
- 5:09Speaker 3: at that fifteen twenty minute mark. But yeah, I'm pretty
- 5:12Speaker 3: pretty excited to see how he goes.
- 5:13Speaker 2: His energy this year. And his whole run.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Is yeah is I know I say that without a
- 5:19Speaker 3: second bad The lines he hits whole.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Running, no hole running, yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 3: But yeah, the lines he hits he runs with yeah
- 5:30Speaker 3: he yeah, he's on a mission.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeah, every time he's about to get that ball, he's
- 5:33Speaker 2: on a mission.
- 5:34Speaker 1: He's got a good level of magro.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and I love it. So I'm really excited for that.
- 5:38Speaker 1: All Right, we've got the King, Wally Lewis Dan, we.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Got the King?
- 5:41Speaker 4: Good? Good mate? Yeah, not bad? Did we wake up
- 5:45Speaker 4: well no, no not.
- 5:48Speaker 5: I can guarantee you didn't wake up. That was that
- 5:51Speaker 5: was done at about four forty four this morning.
- 5:56Speaker 4: They were the good ones.
- 5:58Speaker 1: So so what happens for what's the Origin day like
- 6:01Speaker 1: for you?
- 6:01Speaker 4: Wally?
- 6:01Speaker 1: What do you mean up to today?
- 6:04Speaker 4: Oh?
- 6:04Speaker 5: Entering phone calls and doing interviews, doing the whole normal thing.
- 6:11Speaker 5: It's a I think you wouldn't miss it for quens
- 6:16Speaker 5: talking about Origin.
- 6:17Speaker 4: You know, who's likely to be the key players for each.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Team and the pressure that sits upon the shoulders of
- 6:23Speaker 5: the Queensland players tonight.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And who do you what do you think then, mate?
- 6:27Speaker 1: Who do you think will be the key particularly for Queensland?
- 6:31Speaker 4: Oh?
- 6:32Speaker 5: Well, Kem Munster is certainly going to be the guy
- 6:34Speaker 5: that leads the way. And I'm going to say I've
- 6:37Speaker 5: been extremely impressed with Harry Grant's performances over the last
- 6:41Speaker 5: year or two. He certainly causes disruption to the opposition
- 6:46Speaker 5: defense and does it extremely well. The guy that does
- 6:51Speaker 5: a whole pile of the defensive work is Rupert Conner
- 6:55Speaker 5: in the Queensland team.
- 6:57Speaker 4: He's a guy that certainly is worth his weight in gold.
- 7:01Speaker 5: And I think that if he can sort of inspire
- 7:04Speaker 5: the queen playing guys into action up front to make
- 7:09Speaker 5: sure that they get rid of the pressure that the
- 7:12Speaker 5: joint Gantic in New South Wales forward pack will cast.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Upon them, I think it will be.
- 7:17Speaker 5: It'll promise great things for Queensland in the second half.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Well, I know we you know, everyone talks a lot
- 7:23Speaker 3: about New South Wales. You know the Halves got Moses
- 7:27Speaker 3: and Cleary and then also fall back into desca who
- 7:30Speaker 3: else apart from those three? So if we keep them quiet,
- 7:35Speaker 3: who else do we have to watch out for in
- 7:36Speaker 3: that team?
- 7:37Speaker 2: You reckon.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Mad? Who did you?
- 7:41Speaker 3: You mentioned Moses, Cleary and Antonesca. So if you take
- 7:46Speaker 3: those three out of the equation right and they keep
- 7:48Speaker 3: them quiet, who else you know can can win the
- 7:50Speaker 3: game for the New South Wales.
- 7:53Speaker 5: I make the guy that i'm I'm probably the president
- 7:56Speaker 5: of this guy's fan club. Despite him being a new
- 7:59Speaker 5: South Wales. Yeah, he's He's worth his weight in gold.
- 8:05Speaker 5: That guy, he is just one of the best workers
- 8:09Speaker 5: that I've that I've ever seen in origin.
- 8:12Speaker 4: He gets through it. Hudson Young in the second row
- 8:15Speaker 4: is certainly going to be able to assist him. And
- 8:18Speaker 4: that there's a bloke you know from your and my
- 8:21Speaker 4: former club, the Bronco's paying Hearf.
- 8:25Speaker 5: Who's probably going to make life very very difficult for
- 8:29Speaker 5: for the Queenslanders as well.
- 8:31Speaker 4: But certainly the one guy that that's got to.
- 8:35Speaker 5: Be stopped in the in the the Blues outfit is Cleary.
- 8:40Speaker 5: I thinks his leadership certainly will be will be quite
- 8:45Speaker 5: impressive as well.
- 8:47Speaker 1: How do you how do you see us using Recee
- 8:49Speaker 1: Walsh if at all? Do you do you do you
- 8:51Speaker 1: see them trying to get him into the game or
- 8:53Speaker 1: is it just a matter of an injury?
- 8:55Speaker 5: Yeah, well I think he's you know, it's probably one
- 8:59Speaker 5: of those situations where Ree certainly will be injected into
- 9:02Speaker 5: the game. When is that going to be Well, I
- 9:05Speaker 5: think that's going to be a decision for us ability
- 9:09Speaker 5: to make at a different stage of the game. Certainly
- 9:13Speaker 5: he might say, you know, I plan put him.
- 9:15Speaker 4: On ten minutes before the halftime hooter.
- 9:18Speaker 5: That may be the case planning before the game, but
- 9:22Speaker 5: a lot of the time you make a decision on
- 9:25Speaker 5: when you're going to.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Use a player where and for how long.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Through the course of the game, you might think that
- 9:32Speaker 5: things aren't going too well for us. He needs to
- 9:34Speaker 5: be out there, we need to shatter the Blues defense.
- 9:38Speaker 5: There'll be another opportunity if New South Wales have been
- 9:43Speaker 5: playing the game at a frantic speed and he can
- 9:47Speaker 5: be used at that time.
- 9:48Speaker 4: So I think the judgment the Billy is probably going.
- 9:51Speaker 5: To be one of the most important features for his
- 9:54Speaker 5: coaching tonight, because there's just too many good players on
- 9:58Speaker 5: show to you know, we're almost have a reading like
- 10:02Speaker 5: a book and say we'll use him at the ten minute,
- 10:05Speaker 5: then we'll do this, then we'll do this, then we'll
- 10:07Speaker 5: do this.
- 10:09Speaker 4: As you know orangin footy just isn't played that way.
- 10:13Speaker 5: You're able to try and take control of the game after.
- 10:19Speaker 4: You know, some features tend to just pop up.
- 10:24Speaker 5: There will be it might be an injury for the
- 10:27Speaker 5: opposition that comes up and you think, all right, now.
- 10:31Speaker 4: If if that's one of the key ball players.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Now it's sort of time to make the most, or
- 10:37Speaker 5: if it's one of their key defenders, I'm sorry you'd
- 10:39Speaker 5: use your key attacking player to try and make the
- 10:42Speaker 5: most and really slaughter the oppositions defense.
- 10:47Speaker 4: So it's pretty much a case of, you know, you
- 10:50Speaker 4: can have a plan for the game, but it doesn't
- 10:51Speaker 4: always turn out.
- 10:53Speaker 5: To be one which will continue to be featured throughout
- 10:57Speaker 5: the course of the game.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Hey that now, speaking of plans, Well, mate, I'm actually
- 11:02Speaker 3: here right now drinking you'll be Queensland Beer Co. Now,
- 11:08Speaker 3: was was that ever in your plans was to be
- 11:11Speaker 3: part own a in a beer company?
- 11:13Speaker 4: Did?
- 11:13Speaker 2: How did that come about?
- 11:15Speaker 4: Me? Well?
- 11:16Speaker 5: I probably thought that when I was approached and asked
- 11:20Speaker 5: was I interested in taking a role in a beer company?
- 11:24Speaker 5: And after watching you on numerous occasions, Mate, tack into
- 11:28Speaker 5: a beer or two or three or at different rugby
- 11:33Speaker 5: league functions, I thought that mightn't be a bad idea
- 11:36Speaker 5: at all.
- 11:36Speaker 4: There might be a chance of doing.
- 11:38Speaker 5: It, but made to be on the serious side to
- 11:42Speaker 5: be able to jump in with a couple of other
- 11:45Speaker 5: footy guys that have probably you know, played a fair
- 11:49Speaker 5: role in in in sport that has excited different people
- 11:56Speaker 5: around the state and usually sports fans are also beer
- 12:00Speaker 5: fans and.
- 12:01Speaker 4: They look to take part in it. And I thought
- 12:03Speaker 4: it was it was good. It was a good move.
- 12:06Speaker 5: I was approached by a man that I'm sure there's
- 12:09Speaker 5: no surprise to you.
- 12:11Speaker 4: And to have those guys involved that are all, you know, former.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Footy players that are involved in business ventures, I thought
- 12:21Speaker 5: it was an outstanding idea.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I know you're going to tell me, did I hear
- 12:25Speaker 4: a cash registering?
- 12:27Speaker 2: I was going to say.
- 12:32Speaker 5: That may have been the case, but I was suggesting
- 12:36Speaker 5: that if I asked for a little bit of a story,
- 12:39Speaker 5: I may have been reminded of the numbers on my
- 12:42Speaker 5: birth certificate.
- 12:43Speaker 4: They were a little bit older than the.
- 12:47Speaker 1: You are the statesman of the players made. It's true,
- 12:50Speaker 1: the elderly statesman. So well you got you've got a
- 12:54Speaker 1: score prediction for tonight, mate, what do you think is
- 12:56Speaker 1: going to happen?
- 12:58Speaker 4: I never I hate making a school prediction.
- 13:00Speaker 5: So many things can can really rule that and give
- 13:05Speaker 5: it no chance whatsoever. There may be a little bit
- 13:08Speaker 5: of a shower come down, there may be a player
- 13:11Speaker 5: that gets hurt. But I've been Queensland to win it,
- 13:14Speaker 5: so yeah, there could be particularly with a referee from
- 13:18Speaker 5: south of the border.
- 13:20Speaker 4: That could happen who has been in the news a
- 13:23Speaker 4: little bit lately.
- 13:25Speaker 5: That may that may be the case, but I think
- 13:28Speaker 5: for Queensland to win it, we're going to be winning
- 13:31Speaker 5: it by by two or four points.
- 13:34Speaker 4: I can't see. It's absolutely racing away.
- 13:37Speaker 5: With monotonous regularity to the tryline and to restrict New
- 13:43Speaker 5: South Wales.
- 13:44Speaker 4: From chalking up a high score.
- 13:46Speaker 5: I think it's it's really got to be on the
- 13:48Speaker 5: shoulders of the workhorses at the back of.
- 13:50Speaker 4: The Queensland pack, Reuben kind, Kurk.
- 13:53Speaker 5: Cap Well and Britain their korra. They're going to have
- 13:56Speaker 5: to do a whole pile of work and made it.
- 13:58Speaker 5: There is one guy that I'm really going to be
- 14:00Speaker 5: looking forward to watching tonight and having seen his performances
- 14:04Speaker 5: in the first one.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Maxie Platt.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Yeah, she gets through some work and he does with
- 14:11Speaker 5: almost not less regularity, but it becomes very valuable to.
- 14:14Speaker 3: His teammates, heading places that I wouldn't have.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Did you play with his dad? Did you play with
- 14:20Speaker 1: John Plath?
- 14:22Speaker 5: Yeah, it was a little a little bit after it,
- 14:24Speaker 5: but Platty I came from the I was playing for
- 14:26Speaker 5: the same club. It was winter Badley where Platy came from,
- 14:30Speaker 5: and I've got to say he's the cheekiest little that
- 14:33Speaker 5: I ever used to enjoy his entertainment. And when the
- 14:38Speaker 5: Broncos were at their best, Plathy played a significant role
- 14:42Speaker 5: in making sure that they were a first class too.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I think Max is a big, big, big key
- 14:50Speaker 2: to us tonight. I think.
- 14:54Speaker 3: I think he could actually set a couple of tries
- 14:56Speaker 3: up in this game. And I reckon that could be
- 14:58Speaker 3: the difference is that Ford's playmaker skills and you know,
- 15:01Speaker 3: like you just said it, you said yo, And then
- 15:03Speaker 3: I think on outside we got class.
- 15:05Speaker 2: So it's going to be good and it's going to
- 15:07Speaker 2: be fair. It's going to be a great game.
- 15:08Speaker 5: I ain't Yeah, I don't think there's anything that's a
- 15:11Speaker 5: surprise in State of Origin. You've got the world's best
- 15:14Speaker 5: players on show to see them go out there and
- 15:19Speaker 5: they have a bit of a role to play a
- 15:21Speaker 5: part in the team game. But they've also got one
- 15:25Speaker 5: that goes without saying, and that's refusing to let their
- 15:28Speaker 5: mates down.
- 15:29Speaker 4: You've done that.
- 15:30Speaker 5: You know how great it can be and how disappointed
- 15:34Speaker 5: you can be if you if you fail to provide
- 15:38Speaker 5: that assistance.
- 15:38Speaker 4: For your teammates. You're not demanding it, but you're expecting it.
- 15:42Speaker 5: And that may sound a little bit similar, but certainly
- 15:46Speaker 5: in a match of this importance, these guys go out
- 15:49Speaker 5: there and they just refuse to give up.
- 15:52Speaker 4: They provide their best. If it's good enough at.
- 15:54Speaker 5: The end of the night, well they finish in with
- 15:56Speaker 5: the right numbers on the scoreboard. If it doesn't, well
- 15:58Speaker 5: it's going to be a very embarrassing next twelve months.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Listening to the Blues chair.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Carry on, I couldn't stand it. I couldn't stand it.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us, Thanks mate, my pleasure. Here
- 16:12Speaker 1: he is King Wally Lewis now actually speaking of playing
- 16:16Speaker 1: for your mates. We had Anthony Milford on the radio
- 16:18Speaker 1: show this and I want to play I want to
- 16:22Speaker 1: put a bit of this video and play some of
- 16:23Speaker 1: the audio for those that wouldn't have heard it.
- 16:26Speaker 2: What happened.
- 16:26Speaker 1: But Mills opening game, his very first game, is a
- 16:29Speaker 1: young fellow, he was on fire for the Broncos, gets
- 16:31Speaker 1: his first game for Queensland and about was it.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Just just the start of about ten minutes into the
- 16:38Speaker 3: second tennis in the second half, Queensland a going.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Pretty I thought we needed to change up.
- 16:44Speaker 1: New South Wales has the ball on the attack, there's
- 16:47Speaker 1: a cutout past Milford's there to make the tackle.
- 16:51Speaker 3: They went to pass and I mate quicker hands and
- 16:54Speaker 3: I expected So I can't hit a bloke without the ball,
- 16:57Speaker 3: so the passment behind him.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah, so you hit Anthony Milford. Well, I had to
- 17:01Speaker 1: pull out so hard he was knocked out. Yep, you
- 17:04Speaker 1: can cuss your own mate.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I was a big boy back then, undred and nine
- 17:07Speaker 3: kilo as I was. You want to run into these things.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I don't want it in the back of the Yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 2: he got it.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Well, you know what, and he was gone. He never
- 17:15Speaker 1: came back.
- 17:16Speaker 3: He evened it up about four weeks later. Yeah, he
- 17:18Speaker 3: knocked me out for fifteen minutes. I think he won.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Well, and the year later he did his shoulder. Never
- 17:23Speaker 1: played Origin again. So now that wasn't my You were
- 17:25Speaker 1: effectively Origin.
- 17:26Speaker 3: I was dropped by then, so I couldn't have effected
- 17:29Speaker 3: that one. Yeah, No, I didn knock him out.
- 17:31Speaker 1: He could have been anything.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Mil Look, he actually was playing a great game of
- 17:34Speaker 2: footy before I knocked him.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Anyway, But he did knock you out. About four weeks
- 17:39Speaker 1: later in the Bronx game.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I was asleep for five ten fifteen. I think
- 17:42Speaker 3: they said snor and blood out of my face. I
- 17:46Speaker 3: had the ambulances and I had the Yeah, the ambos
- 17:49Speaker 3: in tears, laughing, and they actually said this is professional.
- 17:52Speaker 3: And at the time she said don't he would be loving.
- 17:55Speaker 2: This right now, said you had an audience, had a
- 17:58Speaker 2: great audience. I don't remember any of it. Yeah, none
- 18:01Speaker 2: of it. I thought I was going back out.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Going to talk to Sammy in the second Sammy's.
- 18:07Speaker 3: On wouldn't take a public bus on a public bus
- 18:09Speaker 3: in Melbourne? Yeah, okay, Well, jeez, that's that's hard work.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Isn't it really hard for him at the moment?
- 18:15Speaker 1: It's not us glamorous when it seems anymore?
- 18:17Speaker 2: Public bus?
- 18:20Speaker 1: So a couple of the we didn't get through the
- 18:22Speaker 1: through the whole team lest so let's do that. So
- 18:25Speaker 1: playing the fullbacks to Desko pongs evenly matched, you go
- 18:30Speaker 1: through the back lines.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Yeah, and I don't think there could be any anymore
- 18:35Speaker 3: even if.
- 18:36Speaker 2: You tried it.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Cobbo and had a pretty ordinary start, probably the
- 18:41Speaker 1: worst game I've seen him play for game one. But
- 18:44Speaker 1: you couldn't.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Never do that again.
- 18:45Speaker 4: I don't think.
- 18:46Speaker 3: I don't think he's ever dropped four balls in the
- 18:48Speaker 3: first half Leland the whole game of football.
- 18:51Speaker 1: So and Cobo's career form, isn't.
- 18:54Speaker 2: He Yeah, I was.
- 18:55Speaker 3: If there's anything I was ever proud of was seeing
- 18:57Speaker 3: him back, seeing him back there.
- 18:59Speaker 2: But also the game he played that was unbelievable.
- 19:02Speaker 3: You got Center's, you got Colaa Toya, you know, Stags, Hammers, Hammer,
- 19:07Speaker 3: and then you got the wingers like Mark.
- 19:10Speaker 2: You say that.
- 19:11Speaker 1: And I said, yeah, Marky, Mark, he's one of the
- 19:17Speaker 1: most exciting players. This is interesting to see now because
- 19:20Speaker 1: now he's up up against the absolute best, so it'll
- 19:24Speaker 1: be interesting to see if he can do.
- 19:25Speaker 3: So he's up against Cobber, Yeah, I'm right, Yeah, that'd
- 19:28Speaker 3: be actually a great match up. And then we've got
- 19:30Speaker 3: jo Jo Fafiedah.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yeah, we found out today. It's really real name, got
- 19:35Speaker 1: nicknamed by a kindergarten and kid in France.
- 19:39Speaker 2: In France.
- 19:40Speaker 3: But I think the backs, you know, and again you
- 19:43Speaker 3: go five eight Mitchell Moses camera monster. That even match
- 19:47Speaker 3: up Nathan clearly seeing Walker different parts of their career,
- 19:50Speaker 3: but even match up, they're both the can both turn,
- 19:55Speaker 3: but they can just something can come out of nothing.
- 19:58Speaker 3: You know, you've got to be always on it and
- 20:00Speaker 3: be careful for those two.
- 20:02Speaker 4: You know.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I see this as one of the most evenly matched
- 20:04Speaker 3: Origin games for a long time.
- 20:07Speaker 2: I don't think we will, but we'll do it. They
- 20:09Speaker 2: did again, well, you know, the way they started Game
- 20:13Speaker 2: one was awful.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Yeah, all the mistake it was.
- 20:15Speaker 2: It was just un Origin like. So I don't think
- 20:19Speaker 2: we'll see that again.
- 20:20Speaker 3: But yeah, you go, you know, Dylan Lucas on his day,
- 20:24Speaker 3: but I think it's going to be unreal. But you
- 20:25Speaker 3: got Kirk cape Ole there, who's a he's a warrior.
- 20:28Speaker 3: He's done it for forty years. He probably he looks
- 20:31Speaker 3: like he's been playing for one hundred years.
- 20:33Speaker 1: One of the best first halfs in Game one. Second
- 20:36Speaker 1: half he got movement of the centers, which is not
- 20:38Speaker 1: where he you.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Know, but he can play there. He can play anywhere.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Kur.
- 20:42Speaker 1: But I think if that happened again, you know, be
- 20:44Speaker 1: terrorized by stags because yeah, it's just SAgs just.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Too too quick. Is well he's too powerful too. But yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 3: I reckon it's the bench. Yeah, I truly believe it's
- 20:55Speaker 3: the bench that's going to win this game. It's it's
- 20:58Speaker 3: not even the people on the bench, it's how they
- 21:00Speaker 3: use them right with the game now it's there's not
- 21:05Speaker 3: so this is one of the most important parts of
- 21:06Speaker 3: our game right now is how the coaches use their bench.
- 21:09Speaker 3: We've got Sammy, Sammy on the line. Okay, Champion, I mate,
- 21:14Speaker 3: How's how's my mind? How's Melbourne?
- 21:17Speaker 4: Melbourne is Melbourne today?
- 21:19Speaker 6: It's beautiful weather down here and I'm really excited for
- 21:23Speaker 6: tonight's game.
- 21:24Speaker 4: It doesn't look like.
- 21:24Speaker 6: There's any rain around, which is good because were Origin suck?
- 21:30Speaker 2: Have you had a few and.
- 21:33Speaker 4: I've had a few beers.
- 21:34Speaker 6: I wish I had a glass of wine at lunch today.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I just sounds a bit slobby, that's all. I'm just check.
- 21:41Speaker 6: I've just been listening to you and keep this waffle
- 21:43Speaker 6: for the last five minutes, Tom to talk about waffling.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just nice. I said slowy, I said sloby, mate.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Not yeah, okay, yeah, okay, sweet sweet.
- 21:51Speaker 1: I'm sloppy. Do you like just being in Melbourne and
- 21:56Speaker 1: driving around? Is there you know the because the amount
- 22:00Speaker 1: of Origin Jerseys we see just walking around here is
- 22:03Speaker 1: out of control? But what about in Melbourne? Is there
- 22:05Speaker 1: that level of excitement or what's it like?
- 22:08Speaker 7: There's so much more today actually compared to yesterday. We
- 22:11Speaker 7: got here yesterday down here with some of the Bronco sponsors,
- 22:14Speaker 7: so it wasn't as many Bronc as many Origin jerseys.
- 22:20Speaker 4: But yeah, today definitely walking around the streets here a
- 22:23Speaker 4: lot more.
- 22:26Speaker 6: This This pains me to say at the end of
- 22:30Speaker 6: the day, there's been a lot more Blue jerseys. And yeah,
- 22:32Speaker 6: I hundred percent I brushed your coach because I just
- 22:34Speaker 6: need money to time away from you.
- 22:36Speaker 2: We don't see each other all week, mate said, this
- 22:39Speaker 2: is our one day a week.
- 22:39Speaker 4: Do we get this? How good is that?
- 22:43Speaker 1: Fortnite?
- 22:43Speaker 2: You rushes for the Bronx? Why do we pay this play? Honestly,
- 22:47Speaker 2: you don't pay me, So that's why.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I mate, Sammy, do you reckon?
- 22:50Speaker 6: Though?
- 22:51Speaker 1: I was? I thought it might be maybe fifty to
- 22:53Speaker 1: fifty in the g tonight, like as far as fans,
- 22:55Speaker 1: just because you know, there's so many Queensland is playing
- 22:58Speaker 1: for the Storm. They've got obviously a huge support there
- 23:01Speaker 1: that maybe that might transfer to Queensland, but just judging
- 23:04Speaker 1: by the jerseys on street maybe not.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Yeah, this is street chat for the time being.
- 23:09Speaker 6: I'm getting picked up on the bus at quarter past six.
- 23:13Speaker 6: Maybe it might change when I get to the stadium,
- 23:15Speaker 6: maybe there might.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Be more Queenslanders there.
- 23:18Speaker 6: I will say I bumped into Matt yesterday. He had
- 23:22Speaker 6: some of the Fogs nineteen eighty broute.
- 23:26Speaker 4: They were there, they were heading to the stadium.
- 23:29Speaker 6: I bumped into some of the QRL sponsors as well,
- 23:32Speaker 6: Steve Lacy from Rebel Sport and a few different guys,
- 23:35Speaker 6: Rich from from another brand which I won't mention it
- 23:39Speaker 6: because they sponsored me, not the show.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Game dropping people that run businesses like what's doing here?
- 23:46Speaker 2: Like I don't get it?
- 23:48Speaker 4: Yeah, why not?
- 23:49Speaker 2: Anyways? You know what, who? What are you picking the
- 23:52Speaker 2: night of than.
- 23:55Speaker 3: You know, you've got a few debutones there. What are
- 23:58Speaker 3: you actually expecting from the from the game tonight?
- 24:02Speaker 6: Well, I don't know if those same opportunities are going
- 24:04Speaker 6: to be there that we're in the first half of Queensland.
- 24:06Speaker 6: So I think you're going to have to fight for
- 24:09Speaker 6: those opportunities, and it might take a little bit of
- 24:12Speaker 6: strong defense, maybe hitting underneath the board to get some turnovers.
- 24:16Speaker 6: But what I saw in game one was very very
- 24:21Speaker 6: good and very positive. We had our opportunities as a
- 24:24Speaker 6: Queen's m team and we executed really well, and then
- 24:28Speaker 6: I think we're going to have to do the same
- 24:31Speaker 6: thing this summer around. We're just going to have to
- 24:34Speaker 6: hang in there, keep thirteen players on the field and
- 24:37Speaker 6: go from there.
- 24:38Speaker 4: But I've got all the confidence of the world with
- 24:40Speaker 4: this Queen's Lane team. I think the changes Billy has made.
- 24:43Speaker 8: I'm really interested actually to see how he uses well
- 24:46Speaker 8: ching and I'm sure that he's done work throughout the
- 24:49Speaker 8: week and behind closed doors to know and understand what
- 24:53Speaker 8: that's going to be. And we just have to see
- 24:55Speaker 8: how that unfolds when the game starts.
- 24:57Speaker 6: But I heard you waffling before ot about the benches
- 25:00Speaker 6: and how important they are, and I think they always
- 25:02Speaker 6: after these game. So I think where I think we
- 25:05Speaker 6: have from New South Walest covered.
- 25:07Speaker 8: I think they've got all physicians covered on that bench.
- 25:11Speaker 8: And I think that we will be coming back.
- 25:14Speaker 6: To Brisbane with a drawn series and we'll just smoke
- 25:17Speaker 6: them at home.
- 25:17Speaker 1: And so court if we uh, you know, well, we
- 25:20Speaker 1: are going to win tonight. But after we win tonight,
- 25:22Speaker 1: who's the Who's man of the match do you think
- 25:24Speaker 1: for Queensland.
- 25:27Speaker 9: I think he might even be a little mate at
- 25:28Speaker 9: the back or and emotionally charged Tino for I saw
- 25:33Speaker 9: his thoughts of players to go back to him and
- 25:36Speaker 9: his family losing his dad to speak.
- 25:38Speaker 8: But we saw the emotion of Cameron Monthster last year.
- 25:44Speaker 6: And how that really inspires the group.
- 25:47Speaker 4: I'm hoping that.
- 25:48Speaker 6: These Queensland boys are really behind Big Tina as well
- 25:51Speaker 6: this time around and really.
- 25:53Speaker 4: Really support him.
- 25:54Speaker 6: I don't think they're walking off the field with a
- 25:56Speaker 6: loss tonight, and it will be off the back of
- 25:59Speaker 6: a huge forwards performance from Tino. And I think KP
- 26:05Speaker 6: back really wanting to repay the boys for what happened
- 26:08Speaker 6: in game one.
- 26:10Speaker 2: He's my big He's part of the match.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Who's that teen KP?
- 26:14Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 26:15Speaker 3: I think Tina goes hard, but I just think KP
- 26:17Speaker 3: from game one he was our best player.
- 26:19Speaker 2: We win that game.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I believe he gets me in the match and again
- 26:23Speaker 3: I think for this game he'll be a massive part.
- 26:26Speaker 2: To us winning.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Can you boys explain that as a non footballer For me,
- 26:30Speaker 1: the idea of losing your dad and then playing a
- 26:32Speaker 1: game of footy, you know a few days later, it
- 26:36Speaker 1: doesn't actually work from in my mind, like why would
- 26:40Speaker 1: he be doing that and how how does a footballer
- 26:42Speaker 1: rationalize it or why does he want to play?
- 26:45Speaker 6: I can't make I can't explain it myself personally, says,
- 26:48Speaker 6: I haven't lost my father.
- 26:49Speaker 4: I have lost my mother. I'm lucky enough to still
- 26:52Speaker 4: have the.
- 26:52Speaker 8: End of my life, but yeah, you know, things happened
- 26:55Speaker 8: with I've missed.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Certain things within my family.
- 26:59Speaker 8: I can still remember missing two of my brother's weddings.
- 27:03Speaker 4: There's been family also.
- 27:05Speaker 6: Not necessarily my mom and dad, but you know, some
- 27:08Speaker 6: significant people within.
- 27:09Speaker 8: My family where I haven't been able to go to
- 27:11Speaker 8: their funerals.
- 27:12Speaker 6: But it's at the end of the day, it's that job.
- 27:15Speaker 4: We got there and we have to go do a job.
- 27:18Speaker 6: And he just hit down, bump up, and refocus on
- 27:22Speaker 6: what you need to do and go out there and
- 27:23Speaker 6: do it. And then the time will come after this
- 27:26Speaker 6: game for teen how to go spend some time with
- 27:28Speaker 6: his family. His family would be there supporting him one
- 27:31Speaker 6: hundred percent, wanting him to go out there and do
- 27:34Speaker 6: what he loves doing because that's what his dad would
- 27:36Speaker 6: have loved to have seen.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm the same.
- 27:39Speaker 3: I can't speak from experience, but I just know he
- 27:42Speaker 3: must from you know, when I was not ten years old,
- 27:45Speaker 3: so I knew his family pretty well, and I just
- 27:49Speaker 3: knew how much his dad, you know, how much foot
- 27:52Speaker 3: he meant to him, but also his dad, and growing up,
- 27:56Speaker 3: all his dad ever wanted was came, you know, he
- 27:58Speaker 3: just he was so happy whenever he came, did anything well.
- 28:01Speaker 3: And because of what came went through when he was
- 28:03Speaker 3: a younger, fella, yeah, too small.
- 28:05Speaker 2: You're never going to make it.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Clubs brushed him right, and his dad was the only
- 28:08Speaker 3: one kept saying, you'll make it, mate, You're good enough.
- 28:10Speaker 2: You'll just keep working.
- 28:11Speaker 3: And I know I was there those those conversations, So
- 28:15Speaker 3: when that happened, I just knew that his whole family
- 28:18Speaker 3: would have said, you know, your dad's going to be
- 28:20Speaker 3: watching you, and he'll be spraying you up from up there, saying,
- 28:23Speaker 3: don't you dare not play for me, because what he
- 28:26Speaker 3: would want is for him to go out there play
- 28:28Speaker 3: for him, because you know, the happiest that he was was.
- 28:32Speaker 2: When he was watching his son play rugby league.
- 28:34Speaker 3: So I think that's the reason why they do it.
- 28:37Speaker 3: And like Sammy said, alfter the game, he'll then go
- 28:41Speaker 3: home and spend all of that time with his family.
- 28:43Speaker 3: So I think it's Yeah. I think there's a lot
- 28:46Speaker 3: of there's a lot of you know, people saying how
- 28:49Speaker 3: could you do it? But when you play the game
- 28:52Speaker 3: and you know it's it is for your family. You know,
- 28:55Speaker 3: I'm being like that that that is it like you
- 28:58Speaker 3: do it for the family because you got there because
- 29:00Speaker 3: of them. Yeah, so that's that's that's my experience in
- 29:04Speaker 3: that I said first hand, I have I don't know,
- 29:06Speaker 3: but just now in months in his family that would
- 29:08Speaker 3: have been, you know, the reason why he ended up
- 29:10Speaker 3: playing that game.
- 29:11Speaker 1: It makes sense. So hey, Sammy, let's put together a
- 29:14Speaker 1: multi mate. Do you think an Origin MAULTI You've got
- 29:18Speaker 1: to try and score.
- 29:19Speaker 2: He's hard.
- 29:20Speaker 1: It's hard. I mean betting on Origin is like kissing.
- 29:22Speaker 2: You five tries in the game.
- 29:25Speaker 1: But yeah, there could be nothing. I'm going to grant Harry,
- 29:28Speaker 1: grant to score like that anytime you're still there sound yeah?
- 29:33Speaker 4: Yeah. I think what we saw last time round was
- 29:35Speaker 4: all that.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Are we interrupting something?
- 29:39Speaker 6: No, no, I wish, But what what I think we
- 29:43Speaker 6: learned last time my last game is the full backs
- 29:46Speaker 6: is defending the line?
- 29:47Speaker 4: Is there a bit that keep it in behind is
- 29:50Speaker 4: going to be there?
- 29:50Speaker 6: We saw new south Wales score if that we saw
- 29:52Speaker 6: Queensland score for.
- 29:53Speaker 4: It as well. Artist think that it's like the semiwalkick
- 29:57Speaker 4: kicks through and it's either.
- 29:58Speaker 6: Going to be and the outside back or maybe a
- 30:01Speaker 6: back roll. I say, I love the follow I think
- 30:04Speaker 6: you're stand up tonight as a senior sword at the
- 30:07Speaker 6: end of the.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Team and I want to go I'm going.
- 30:09Speaker 8: To go Capes.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Nice?
- 30:12Speaker 4: Now?
- 30:12Speaker 1: Is it wrong for me? I just feel like I.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Feel like I feel like a far longer. He's not
- 30:20Speaker 4: playing in this game.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Even though he's in Melbourne.
- 30:24Speaker 2: He could come in both.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Go to which is Hammers well hamm Yeah.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Actually you know what, you know, I feel like odds
- 30:33Speaker 1: if we're going to play for the most likely thing,
- 30:35Speaker 1: we should put a blue in. No, don't, no, no,
- 30:37Speaker 1: because I just feel like they will score it some stage.
- 30:40Speaker 4: They will score it some stage, Yeah they will.
- 30:42Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, but we don't even don't even wish up
- 30:47Speaker 9: on anyone scoring mate.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, well then I'll put the hammer in. All right,
- 30:52Speaker 1: the hammer's in. Okay, so we've got Hammer, Capes and
- 30:55Speaker 1: and Harry Grant. That's not a bad bet.
- 30:57Speaker 2: I love it.
- 30:57Speaker 1: I like that, all right, Sammy, have fun and I
- 31:02Speaker 1: make rug up. I've heard it's freezing there.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, there's a little bit chilly today, but it's
- 31:07Speaker 4: all good.
- 31:07Speaker 2: I have some beers, mate, relaxed you have. You've had
- 31:09Speaker 2: a tough week of work with us, has it, so
- 31:11Speaker 2: you know, just go enjoy yourself.
