- 0:01Speaker 1: Now on The Voice of New York, it's the Mark
- 0:04Speaker 1: Simone Show on 710WOR. Hey. Well, it's back to normal today.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Normal weather for the rest of the week. It'll be
- 0:16Speaker 1: low 70s. It'll be nice today. It'll be even nicer tomorrow.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Back to normal. The rain is gone. Yeah, it might
- 0:23Speaker 1: get a little on Saturday, but otherwise it's gone. A
- 0:26Speaker 1: lot to get to today. We'll get to the midterms
- 0:29Speaker 1: are about 35 days away. Not much time for anybody
- 0:33Speaker 1: to do much of anything. Republicans are not getting their
- 0:36Speaker 1: messaging together, not making the case strongly enough. But no
- 0:43Speaker 1: one knows what's going to happen. It's impossible to predict
- 0:45Speaker 1: right now. President Trump having AI meetings today with AI heads.
- 0:53Speaker 1: The problem is trying to put some control on AI,
- 0:57Speaker 1: it could– If you believe Bill Gates, get out of
- 0:59Speaker 1: control and wipe us all out and kill us in
- 1:01Speaker 1: a second. And then there are others that think that
- 1:06Speaker 1: it'll never be that bad. Then you got these crazy politicians,
- 1:10Speaker 1: these ridiculous Republicans and Democrats, these old men in the
- 1:14Speaker 1: Senate and the Congress calling for a kill switch. If
- 1:17Speaker 1: we only had a kill switch. There's no such thing
- 1:20Speaker 1: as a kill switch. There's no kill switch. You can't
- 1:25Speaker 1: have a kill switch. There's one thing Bill Gates was
- 1:28Speaker 1: good on on the Sunday show saying, anytime you hear
- 1:30Speaker 1: anybody say this, put in a kill switch, you can
- 1:33Speaker 1: be sure they don't know the first thing about the
- 1:35Speaker 1: internet or how anything works. And you get Senator John Kennedy,
- 1:40Speaker 1: you know, that fake southerner with all the, well, them
- 1:45Speaker 1: cute little things. You hear him talk about AI, it
- 1:50Speaker 1: sounds absolutely ridiculous. Now, the problem is if AI is
- 1:53Speaker 1: that dangerous, if it is the most dangerous weapon on
- 1:56Speaker 1: earth and could wipe us all out. Well, then you
- 1:59Speaker 1: got to make sure we control it. You got to
- 2:01Speaker 1: make sure China doesn't have control of it. Uh, we're
- 2:04Speaker 1: way ahead in the AI race way ahead. But if
- 2:06Speaker 1: we were to slow down or stop, China could get
- 2:09Speaker 1: way ahead of us. In fact, China right now is
- 2:12Speaker 1: recruiting more AI engineers than we are for some reason,
- 2:16Speaker 1: paying them more or whatever they have to do. But
- 2:19Speaker 1: you got to, this is like a nuclear arms race.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You got to stay ahead of China in this, uh, Hey,
- 2:25Speaker 1: Jimmy Kimmel Live, you know, this is a show hobbling
- 2:28Speaker 1: along on its last legs. It's in the final season.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Jimmy Kimmel Live has come to Brooklyn. He did the
- 2:33Speaker 1: first show last night with Mayor Mamdani. It's a week of,
- 2:40Speaker 1: you know, super left-wing, Trump-hating, all that sort of stuff.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Other guests, he's doing it from the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Hey,
- 2:48Speaker 1: by the way, this Kimmel show is hobbling along. I
- 2:51Speaker 1: think they're going to do five days this week. But
- 2:54Speaker 1: most weeks they can't afford to even do five days.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So they do four or three and then run some reruns.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And apparently he's just taken a huge pay cut. The
- 3:02Speaker 1: whole budget of the show has been cut by about 25%.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So he's had to take a huge pay cut as
- 3:08Speaker 1: they hobble along through their final year. But all the
- 3:13Speaker 1: left wing, the Trump-hating guests are all coming out for
- 3:16Speaker 1: this final week. Paul McCartney, Billy Crystal, Pete Davidson. Bruce Springsteen,
- 3:22Speaker 1: Howard Stern, and Maher Shala Ali. Who the hell is that?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Does anybody know? I don't know. But if you're in
- 3:33Speaker 1: the left-wing Jimmy Kimmel world, they've put that with these
- 3:36Speaker 1: other names. They've put that name with McCartney and Springsteen,
- 3:41Speaker 1: Maher Shala Ali. Whoever the hell that is, nobody knows. Hey,
- 3:46Speaker 1: you know, President Trump, he does do some great things.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yesterday he made a big announcement. They're going to build
- 3:52Speaker 1: the largest steel plant in the history of the world
- 3:55Speaker 1: in America. It's been a long time since anything like
- 3:58Speaker 1: that has happened. They're all in China. You know, we
- 4:02Speaker 1: lost a lot of our industries to China, a lot
- 4:04Speaker 1: of our manufacturing, steel, and things that be crucial to us.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Let's say there was a war and we were cut off.
- 4:12Speaker 1: All of our vital medicine is made overseas in China.
- 4:16Speaker 1: All of our steel, you know, we need that kind
- 4:18Speaker 1: of stuff in the worst emergencies. We need to be
- 4:21Speaker 1: able to make it ourselves. So it's going to be
- 4:23Speaker 1: in Iowa. Largest steel plant in American history will be
- 4:28Speaker 1: built here. It'll create 60,000 new manufacturing jobs. And it's
- 4:34Speaker 1: a great thing. It's a great thing. And it helps
- 4:37Speaker 1: in the midterms, too. Republicans are defending all four House
- 4:40Speaker 1: seats in Iowa. The Senate seat is being vacated by
- 4:44Speaker 1: Joni Ernst, who's retiring. Trump won Iowa by 13 points
- 4:50Speaker 1: just two years ago, but it's close now. It's very close.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So that's a big announcement yesterday. Very, very good. Hey,
- 4:58Speaker 1: Senator John Kennedy. John Kennedy. Now, we'll give him credit
- 5:02Speaker 1: for one thing. He's pushing a bill that no politician
- 5:10Speaker 1: is allowed to name anybody anything after themselves any building
- 5:15Speaker 1: anything while they're still alive uh usually have to be
- 5:20Speaker 1: dead of course kennedy airport or reagan air i think
- 5:23Speaker 1: reagan was still alive when that airport was named wasn't
- 5:25Speaker 1: he but uh rfk bridge that sort of stuff uh
- 5:30Speaker 1: so kennedy pushing this saying you can't spend public money
- 5:34Speaker 1: to promote yourself you can't uh name anything well now
- 5:37Speaker 1: actually if you're donald trump this is not a good
- 5:39Speaker 1: bill he loves the name Everything after himself. So as
- 5:43Speaker 1: long as you're alive, you wouldn't be able to name
- 5:47Speaker 1: anything after him. Although they've named the Palm Beach Airport
- 5:49Speaker 1: after him, but that was Palm Beach in Florida's decision.
- 5:54Speaker 1: You know, it's driving the Trump haters crazy. If you
- 5:57Speaker 1: fly to Palm Beach, it's now the Donald J. Trump
- 6:00Speaker 1: International Airport. And it'll say that all over the place.
- 6:05Speaker 1: It'll say it on your ticket. Even the airport code
- 6:07Speaker 1: is DJT. So believe it or not, some of the
- 6:10Speaker 1: crazed Trump haters who are going to Palm Beach are
- 6:13Speaker 1: actually flying to Fort Lauderdale or to Miami just because
- 6:17Speaker 1: they won't go through that airport. Hey, for the midterms,
- 6:23Speaker 1: there's a lot of, not a lot, but a bunch
- 6:26Speaker 1: of Republicans who are turning on Trump as they seek re-election.
- 6:30Speaker 1: They're turning on Trump. They're bad-mouthing the Iran war. They're
- 6:35Speaker 1: distancing themselves from him. And there are others now calling
- 6:38Speaker 1: for him right now to end the war in Iran.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Which brings up a good question. How would you end it?
- 6:46Speaker 1: They haven't fired a shot in a month. Nobody's fighting.
- 6:50Speaker 1: What is their day? How would you end it? You know,
- 6:53Speaker 1: you could say, oh, the war is now in its
- 6:55Speaker 1: seventh month. Yeah, but it's only been like 12 days
- 6:58Speaker 1: out of seven months there's been any war. So if
- 7:01Speaker 1: you were to end it, who would notice? Nobody's firing.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Nobody's fighting. Hey, by the way, the Strait of Hormuz...
- 7:08Speaker 1: General David Petraeus reporting, and he's got very good intelligence
- 7:13Speaker 1: around the world, the Strait of Hormuz is even more
- 7:16Speaker 1: open than we think. A lot of tankers are coming
- 7:20Speaker 1: through the Strait of Hormuz. And it was thought 7
- 7:24Speaker 1: million barrels a day were coming through. He believes it's
- 7:27Speaker 1: 10 to 11 million barrels a day. In fact, he
- 7:33Speaker 1: says there was, and his intelligence is very good. He
- 7:36Speaker 1: has all kinds of sources there. He said there was
- 7:38Speaker 1: one day where they moved 17 million barrels through the
- 7:41Speaker 1: Strait of Hormuz, which is pretty much close to the
- 7:44Speaker 1: pre-war number. Admiral Cooper, who's the commander of all this, U.S.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Central Command, said on September 19th, commercial transit, volume of oil, cargo,
- 7:56Speaker 1: liquefied natural gas moving through Hormuz over the past two
- 7:59Speaker 1: weeks have reached the highest levels in six months. And
- 8:05Speaker 1: Petraeus writing a huge piece about this, that Iran is
- 8:08Speaker 1: under mounting pressure. The entire economy very, very close to collapse.
- 8:14Speaker 1: He reports that they're on the brink, very close to
- 8:17Speaker 1: total collapse. The blockade, we've been controlling Strait of Hormuz
- 8:22Speaker 1: and blockading. It has effectively just completely devastated their economy.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Treasury Secretary Scott Besson thinks Iran only has a few
- 8:30Speaker 1: weeks left of survival before the whole economy collapses. just collapses.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Now Democrats praying that doesn't happen before the midterms. Hey,
- 8:42Speaker 1: the UN stuff, nobody knows what the hell they do
- 8:45Speaker 1: at the UN except badmouth Israel, except do their anti-Semitic crap,
- 8:49Speaker 1: except tie up every parking space and hook her in
- 8:52Speaker 1: New York. Nobody knows what else they do at the UN,
- 8:54Speaker 1: but the Trump envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are
- 9:00Speaker 1: saying a lot of progress was made. Great progress was made.
- 9:04Speaker 1: especially with Russia and Ukraine, that had very, very lengthy talks.
- 9:08Speaker 1: He said, when you all sit down in person, the Russians,
- 9:11Speaker 1: the Ukrainians, it really makes a difference. And they said
- 9:14Speaker 1: they're closer than ever to resolving the thing. And when
- 9:18Speaker 1: they had these meetings, they also discussed Iran with the
- 9:21Speaker 1: Iranian officials, and they were joined by the Saudis, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar,
- 9:28Speaker 1: all were there. They think they made a lot of progress,
- 9:31Speaker 1: but who knows? Who knows? They also got approval, Witkoff
- 9:36Speaker 1: and Kushner, for the $ 3 billion reconstruction plan for the
- 9:41Speaker 1: Gaza Strip at the Board of Peace Summit. So they
- 9:44Speaker 1: claim they got some stuff done. We'll see. We'll see
- 9:48Speaker 1: if they really actually got anything done. The UN, of course,
- 9:54Speaker 1: a total, total waste of time, doing absolutely nothing for anybody.
- 9:59Speaker 1: uh hey aoc uh everybody thinks she's running because she
- 10:03Speaker 1: seems to be campaigning all over the place it just
- 10:07Speaker 1: never stopped she was at cornell where they're dealing with
- 10:10Speaker 1: this rape problem and their anti-semitism out of control at
- 10:17Speaker 1: cornell listen to what happens at the AOC. She's there
- 10:20Speaker 1: to speak. Listen to the crowd.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I'd like you guys to repeat after me. From the
- 10:25Speaker 2: river to.
- 10:26Speaker 1: The sea, Palestine will be free.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 10:35Speaker 1: This is what they do at Cornell. That's the ultimate
- 10:38Speaker 1: in anti-Semitic wipe out, kill Israel. chant that river to
- 10:42Speaker 1: the sea crap that's what they do at cornell everybody
- 10:47Speaker 1: stay the hell away from cornell besides the rape uh
- 10:51Speaker 1: situation they're dealing with those allegations the anti-semitism is totally
- 10:57Speaker 1: completely out of control there right now uh billy joel
- 11:02Speaker 1: you know he's a great motorcycle collector remember that uh
- 11:05Speaker 1: store in oyster bay More than a store, that big
- 11:09Speaker 1: showroom where he had hundreds of his motorcycles on display. Well,
- 11:15Speaker 1: he's getting rid of the whole collection. It's going up
- 11:17Speaker 1: for auction. 75 motorcycles going up for auction, including Harleys, Yamahas, BMWs.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Expected to fetch big bucks in November. According to Christie's
- 11:30Speaker 1: Auction House, they'll handle the auction. Billy Joel, you know,
- 11:33Speaker 1: he's now $ 77, 000. And, you know, he's had some serious
- 11:37Speaker 1: medical stuff with the brain. He's got a problem with
- 11:40Speaker 1: his balance, a brain problem. So hopefully he's getting better.
- 11:44Speaker 1: But obviously he can't be riding motorcycles anymore. You know,
- 11:47Speaker 1: and he was just fine. Remember, he was crashing into trees.
- 11:50Speaker 1: There was an accident every two weeks. He was running
- 11:53Speaker 1: off the road and all that. So in his condition,
- 11:55Speaker 1: he cannot, cannot, cannot ride a motorcycle. So they're all
- 12:00Speaker 1: being auctioned off. The auction will be November 20th, 21st,
- 12:03Speaker 1: Javits Center. including, ooh, look at this. It's 1978 Triumph
- 12:13Speaker 1: T140 Bonneville.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I don't know what the hell that is. They all
- 12:18Speaker 1: look the same to me. They all look like just
- 12:20Speaker 1: the same motorcycle. But this beloved bike was given to
- 12:24Speaker 1: Joel by Madison Square Garden for his 150th sold-out show
- 12:28Speaker 1: and is going to be auctioned, estimated 15,000. That's all
- 12:32Speaker 1: it is, 15,000? Does that sound right? No, it doesn't make,
- 12:38Speaker 1: you know, with these rare car auctions, there are a million, 800,000, 15,000.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Joel's large collection also includes a 1982 Ducati Mike Howlwood 900.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I don't know what that is. Who the hell knows
- 12:52Speaker 1: what all this stuff is? But there's a lot of
- 12:54Speaker 1: motorcycle collectors out there who are yelling and screaming that
- 12:57Speaker 1: they do. Also, a restored 1975 Ducati 750 Sport. Expected
- 13:00Speaker 1: to fetch around 35,000. That's not a lot for, these
- 13:07Speaker 1: are supposed to be such rare things. Before the auction,
- 13:10Speaker 1: if you want to just look at this stuff, for
- 13:13Speaker 1: about a week, October 8th to 12th, it'll be on display,
- 13:17Speaker 1: Rockefeller Center. Christie's has a big showroom in Rockefeller Center.
- 13:20Speaker 1: You can go there, October 8th to 12th, take a
- 13:23Speaker 1: look at this. Proceeds from the sale will go to
- 13:25Speaker 1: the Joel Foundation, a nonprofit centered on music education and
- 13:30Speaker 1: the arts. I know some guys that are big, big
- 13:33Speaker 1: motorcycle collectors. And they'll take you to their showroom and
- 13:37Speaker 1: they got like 20 of them lined up. And they're
- 13:40Speaker 1: explaining each one to you. And I don't know if
- 13:43Speaker 1: I should tell them that to all of us, they
- 13:46Speaker 1: all look the same. Can't tell one from the other.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I don't see any difference. Why don't you just pick
- 13:51Speaker 1: the best motorcycle that you like and just ride that.
- 13:55Speaker 1: It's like Jay Leno with the 5,000 cars. You ever
- 14:00Speaker 1: get up in the morning, you don't know what to wear.
- 14:02Speaker 1: What shirt should I wear? Which pants should I, you
- 14:05Speaker 1: got to make this, imagine going to the garage, you
- 14:08Speaker 1: got 5,000 cars. What car should I take today? What
- 14:11Speaker 1: a complicated world. Now, in the case of Jay Leno,
- 14:14Speaker 1: it's different. You know, he was an auto mechanic, a
- 14:17Speaker 1: great auto mechanic before he became a comedian. He was
- 14:20Speaker 1: an auto mechanic. He worked for Rolls-Royce. So he understands
- 14:23Speaker 1: all this stuff. And I'll bet you, knowing Billy Joel,
- 14:26Speaker 1: he knows how to fix a motorcycle, knows all about it.
- 14:29Speaker 1: But if you're going to pick a hobby, riding around
- 14:33Speaker 1: in motorcycle and all that. I don't know. It's not
- 14:35Speaker 1: the right one. Speaking of legends, Rod Stewart has announced
- 14:40Speaker 1: his retirement after six decades on stage. You know, he
- 14:44Speaker 1: had some medical troubles and had a canceled show, so
- 14:47Speaker 1: he's announced his retirement. Does that mean he's not well
- 14:50Speaker 1: enough to... Well, wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait
- 14:52Speaker 1: a minute. Look at this. The final tour will be
- 14:56Speaker 1: next year. Wait a minute. Obviously, if he can tour
- 15:01Speaker 1: for another year, he can tour. So this is like
- 15:04Speaker 1: a Streisand deal. Remember, every year she'd announce it's the
- 15:07Speaker 1: farewell tour. It'll be your last chance to see her.
- 15:10Speaker 1: She would do that to sell tickets. That way everybody thinks,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I got to get it. I got to see this.
- 15:14Speaker 1: It's going to be her final tour. And then a
- 15:17Speaker 1: year later, there'll be another farewell tour. Well, then everybody said,
- 15:20Speaker 1: this is it. I got to buy a ticket. Then
- 15:22Speaker 1: there'd be another farewell tour. So I think you may
- 15:25Speaker 1: be seeing that from Rod Stewart. Anyway, we've got a
- 15:29Speaker 1: lot to get to today. We'll get to Good Morning America. Apparently,
- 15:34Speaker 1: it's going to be a shakeup there. I didn't realize this.
- 15:36Speaker 1: They all hate each other, all these anchors. They can't
- 15:39Speaker 1: be in the same room with each other. They hate
- 15:41Speaker 1: each other so much. We'll get to that coming up.
- 15:46Speaker 1: As I say, the weather will be good today. It'll
- 15:48Speaker 1: be a nice day. We went through a hell of
- 15:51Speaker 1: a stretch of three or four days of the crappiest
- 15:53Speaker 1: weather imaginable. And now, great day today, even nicer tomorrow.
- 15:58Speaker 1: It's Mark Simone here. Three hours every day, three hours
- 16:01Speaker 1: every day, nine to noon every day. Here on 710WOR. No.
- 16:06Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show. Nine till noon weekdays. More Mark.
- 16:13Speaker 3: 710WOR.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Well, hey, as I mentioned, Jimmy Kimmel in New York
- 16:19Speaker 1: for a week doing the show from Brooklyn. Mayor Mamdani
- 16:23Speaker 1: the guest last night. So, you know, Kimmel hates, hates
- 16:27Speaker 1: Donald Trump. And hey, before we get to that, let
- 16:30Speaker 1: me just point out something. You know, they fired Colbert.
- 16:32Speaker 1: They threw him the hell off the air. And they
- 16:35Speaker 1: replaced it with Byron Allen's Comics Unleashed, which is just
- 16:41Speaker 1: a bunch of comedians, Byron Allen talking to them. And
- 16:43Speaker 1: it's just very funny comedy. It's not political. It's not
- 16:47Speaker 1: even topical. It's just funny stuff. And the show's been
- 16:49Speaker 1: on about 20 years. So that's what replaced Colbert. It
- 16:53Speaker 1: is crushing Kimmel and Fallon In the big demo, 18
- 16:59Speaker 1: to 49, that's what you look for in television, 18
- 17:03Speaker 1: to 49, the Byron Allen Show on CBS Comics Unleashed
- 17:07Speaker 1: crushing Kimmel and crushing Fallon. Now, Kimmel has his audience,
- 17:13Speaker 1: but it's generally older people, very old. It's an old audience.
- 17:17Speaker 1: And Colbert's audience was very old. That's another reason they
- 17:19Speaker 1: want to get rid of him. His audience, all 65 plus,
- 17:22Speaker 1: it's all angry white liberals. And this Comics Unleashed is
- 17:27Speaker 1: doing so well that CBS has decided to give it
- 17:30Speaker 1: a primetime special coming up. It's going to be the
- 17:33Speaker 1: 20th anniversary of Comics Unleashed, although it's only been on CBS,
- 17:37Speaker 1: you know, about six months, but they're going to get
- 17:39Speaker 1: a big primetime special. You know, you don't see that
- 17:43Speaker 1: for Jimmy Kimmel. Now, so anyway, Mamdani's on with Kimmel,
- 17:48Speaker 1: and Kimmel hates Trump, hates him so much, but he
- 17:51Speaker 1: starts asking Mamdani, how do you have this relationship with him?
- 17:55Speaker 1: You know, a lot of these left-wing... angry left-wingers hate
- 18:00Speaker 1: that Mom Donnie is so chummy with Trump. And Mom
- 18:03Speaker 1: Donnie starts to explain it to him. He said, well,
- 18:05Speaker 1: obviously we have our differences, but what brings us together,
- 18:09Speaker 1: we both love New York City. We're both New Yorkers
- 18:12Speaker 1: and we both have a love of New York City.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Now there's a big difference. Mom Donnie's been in New
- 18:18Speaker 1: York about 10 minutes. He's 12 years old. He never
- 18:21Speaker 1: had a job before. Trump has spent 75 of his
- 18:24Speaker 1: 80 years in New York City, and not just living here,
- 18:31Speaker 1: but he's transformed a lot of New York. You got
- 18:35Speaker 1: to remember, Trump has rescued parts of New York. You know,
- 18:39Speaker 1: this is hard to imagine, but in the late 70s,
- 18:41Speaker 1: the area around Grand Central Station was just totally decaying.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Grand Central Station was crumbling. It was a mess. The
- 18:50Speaker 1: whole area around there was on its way to being
- 18:53Speaker 1: just a rundown ghetto. This is hard to believe now.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You remember back then, Jackie Onassis stepped up trying to
- 19:01Speaker 1: form some kind of committee to save Grand Central. They
- 19:04Speaker 1: were even thinking of tearing it down. The neighborhood had
- 19:06Speaker 1: become so bad. And there was an awful, disgusting, decrepit
- 19:11Speaker 1: old hotel, the Commodore, next to it. Well, Trump bought
- 19:14Speaker 1: that hotel. The area was so run down, he got
- 19:16Speaker 1: the Commodore for nothing. This is his first major project
- 19:20Speaker 1: in New York. He's a very young guy. He rebuilt
- 19:22Speaker 1: it into the Hyatt, this big, shiny, gleaming, magnificent new hotel.
- 19:27Speaker 1: And it helped turn that whole neighborhood around. All of
- 19:30Speaker 1: a sudden, conventions, tourists, everything were coming to the Hyatt.
- 19:33Speaker 1: It just transformed the neighborhood and saved it. And then
- 19:37Speaker 1: he went to Columbus Circle. This is hard to believe,
- 19:40Speaker 1: but in the late 80s, Columbus Circle was a really
- 19:45Speaker 1: run-down place. You had this decrepit old New York Coliseum there.
- 19:50Speaker 1: before the Javits Center. It was the New York Coliseum
- 19:52Speaker 1: where they had the convention, but it was a crummy-looking building.
- 19:56Speaker 1: And in the front of it all evening were the
- 19:59Speaker 1: prison buses to go to upstate prisons or Rikers Island.
- 20:03Speaker 1: That's where the families would get those buses to go
- 20:06Speaker 1: visit relatives. I mean, it was just a run-down, crappy area.
- 20:10Speaker 1: So Trump builds the Trump International Hotel and Apartments Condos
- 20:16Speaker 1: in Columbus Circle, somehow convinces John George to open his
- 20:20Speaker 1: restaurant there. And it transforms the whole neighborhood. All of
- 20:25Speaker 1: a sudden, the neighborhood takes off. Next thing you know,
- 20:26Speaker 1: you get the Time Warner Center and everything. So he
- 20:29Speaker 1: saved that neighborhood. You can go around the city and
- 20:32Speaker 1: show examples of this. Hey, when you drive down the
- 20:35Speaker 1: West Side Highway, And you see those like 11 unbelievable
- 20:39Speaker 1: skyscrapers in a row, those apartments. Those were railroad yards.
- 20:43Speaker 1: It was Trump that did that. So he's done a
- 20:44Speaker 1: lot from New York. So Mamdani revealing to Jimmy Kimmel,
- 20:48Speaker 1: who was not happy about this, that he texts back
- 20:51Speaker 1: and forth with Trump all the time, that they're texting
- 20:55Speaker 1: each other left and right. He said often he talks
- 20:58Speaker 1: to him about this Sunnyside project to build housing in Queens.
- 21:03Speaker 1: This is Mamdani's dream to... to build 12,000 affordable houses.
- 21:10Speaker 1: There's a railroad yard that could cover it up and
- 21:12Speaker 1: build it there in Sunnyside, Queens. Now remember, Trump, the
- 21:17Speaker 1: whole Trump family, the original business was affordable housing, low-income
- 21:21Speaker 1: housing in Brooklyn and Queens. They built probably a couple
- 21:24Speaker 1: hundred thousand of those units. So this is a guy
- 21:26Speaker 1: who knows exactly how to do that. Mamdani wants to
- 21:30Speaker 1: do it, and if he does it, it'll cost $ 3 billion.
- 21:33Speaker 1: If he lets Trump do it, it'll probably cost $ 200 million.
- 21:36Speaker 1: So he could save the city a fortune by having
- 21:39Speaker 1: Trump's company do it. But, you know, he won't do that.
- 21:42Speaker 1: But you could see Kimmel getting madder and madder. The
- 21:45Speaker 1: thought of Mamdani texting back and forth with Trump all
- 21:48Speaker 1: the time. But Trump, everybody has a cell number. Everybody.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Everybody in the press. Every member of the media has it.
- 21:56Speaker 1: People call him, text him. He responds to everybody. He
- 21:59Speaker 1: texts hundreds of people a day. It's a fascinating subject
- 22:03Speaker 1: for Somebody to take a look at how he does this.
- 22:06Speaker 1: You remember later they found out Reagan wrote these beautiful
- 22:08Speaker 1: handwritten letters to people, three or four of them a day,
- 22:12Speaker 1: and they couldn't figure out how does he have time
- 22:14Speaker 1: for three or four of these a day? Somebody should
- 22:16Speaker 1: look at it. How does Trump have time to text literally,
- 22:19Speaker 1: literally two, 300 people every day back and forth? So
- 22:24Speaker 1: Mamdani out there campaigning for who knows what.
- 22:27Speaker 2: I'm excited to make the case directly to New Yorkers
- 22:30Speaker 2: and also to make it very clear what a Blakeman
- 22:34Speaker 2: governorship would look like for a city that cares so
- 22:37Speaker 2: deeply about the immigrants who call it home.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Whoa.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Blakeman government. Oh, my God. Terrible. He'd lock up criminals.
- 22:46Speaker 1: We'd have a border. The economy would better, better. We'd
- 22:49Speaker 1: have drilling, fracking. We'd have nuclear weapons. Your energy bill
- 22:53Speaker 1: would drop by about 3,000%. Yeah, that would be awful. Blakeman,
- 22:58Speaker 1: of course, always going after Mom Donnie. Instead of getting
- 23:00Speaker 1: a free bus ride, the people of New York City
- 23:03Speaker 1: got a rate hike. So his promises aren't being upheld
- 23:07Speaker 1: by him. I feel that he is untrustworthy. Yeah, it's
- 23:11Speaker 1: a different world if you're a Democrat than a Republican.
- 23:14Speaker 1: You know, if you're a Republican campaigning and you're Bruce Blakeman...
- 23:19Speaker 1: And you say, I'm going to do this and this.
- 23:21Speaker 1: And then all the reporters gather. Well, how are you
- 23:24Speaker 1: going to do that? How are you going to get
- 23:25Speaker 1: that done? Well, here's how I did it in Nassau County.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And he explains how he would do it. It's different
- 23:30Speaker 1: if you're a Democrat. If your mom's dining and you're campaigning,
- 23:32Speaker 1: you yell, free buses for everybody. And no reporter asks
- 23:37Speaker 1: you anything. They don't say. No reporter ever said to him,
- 23:40Speaker 1: wait a minute, you have no control of the buses.
- 23:43Speaker 1: That's state control. The MTA controls the buses. You have
- 23:45Speaker 1: absolutely no authority. How are you going to do that?
- 23:47Speaker 1: No reporter ever asked him during the entire campaign.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Never.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Whatever he promises. We're going to open grocery stores. By
- 23:56Speaker 1: the way, it'll cost $ 35 million to open two grocery stores.
- 24:00Speaker 1: No reporter has ever said to him, you know, we
- 24:03Speaker 1: checked and the top grocery stores in the world only
- 24:05Speaker 1: cost a million each. Why are yours $ 35 million? No
- 24:09Speaker 1: reporters ever asked him that. No reporters ever said, well,
- 24:13Speaker 1: why don't you just lift the property tax and On
- 24:16Speaker 1: the grocery stores, and that way they could bring the
- 24:18Speaker 1: cost down on everything 35%. You wouldn't have to open
- 24:21Speaker 1: all this stuff. So nobody ever asked that stuff. You know,
- 24:24Speaker 1: by the way, everybody's complaining about high gas prices. In
- 24:27Speaker 1: New York, they're much higher than everywhere else. Gas is
- 24:30Speaker 1: averaging $ 4. 40 a gallon. It's $ 5. 40 in New York. It's
- 24:34Speaker 1: always more in New York. And the reason is the
- 24:37Speaker 1: state puts all this gas tax and fees on each gallon.
- 24:41Speaker 1: It's about 75 cents a gas tax, a gallon, here
- 24:45Speaker 1: in New York. You know, in Texas, they had a
- 24:46Speaker 1: great governor, Abbott. He has lifted the tax on diesel fuel.
- 24:51Speaker 1: It's too expensive there. So he lifted the tax for
- 24:53Speaker 1: the next 60 days. No reporter ever asks Hochul about
- 24:56Speaker 1: this or Mamdani, especially Hochul. Why don't you lift the
- 25:00Speaker 1: gas tax for 60 days if you're so concerned about it?
- 25:03Speaker 1: Lift the gas tax. Remove it for 60 days. They
- 25:07Speaker 1: never ask. Anyway, we've got a lot coming up. We'll
- 25:09Speaker 1: take some calls, too, and just to A few minutes.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Mark Simone here. Nine to noon every day. Three hours
- 25:15Speaker 1: every day on 710WOR. Live from the WOR LifeVac studios,
- 25:21Speaker 1: the Mark Simone Show. Hey, we'll take some calls. 800-321-0710
- 25:26Speaker 1: is the number.
- 25:27Speaker 3: 800-321-0710.
- 25:27Speaker 1: So you got a new problem in New York. You know,
- 25:29Speaker 1: shoplifting became legal under de Blasio, under Hochul. under mom
- 25:42Speaker 1: donnie it's just legal they won't under this crazy da
- 25:45Speaker 1: alvin brag you're not going to get arrested for shoplifting
- 25:48Speaker 1: so it goes on all the time the result is
- 25:51Speaker 1: you go into the drugstore everything's locked up you want
- 25:54Speaker 1: although they don't lock up the shampoo kind of an
- 25:57Speaker 1: insult to shampoo but you want some aspirin you want
- 25:59Speaker 1: uh you want some uh i don't know some allergy
- 26:04Speaker 1: medicine anything it's locked up you got to push the
- 26:07Speaker 1: button wait for some angry looking woman to show up
- 26:10Speaker 1: with a key furious that you bothered her and she
- 26:13Speaker 1: unlocks it for you. So it's, it's, and these are professionals.
- 26:18Speaker 1: They all look like kids, but they're professionally organized by
- 26:21Speaker 1: professional gangs and they hand them these big, massive trash bags. And, uh,
- 26:29Speaker 1: you know, then they, um, they get these trash bags,
- 26:31Speaker 1: they fill them up. If you're under a thousand dollars,
- 26:34Speaker 1: they will not arrest you. So they've trained these kids
- 26:37Speaker 1: how to run around and throw everything in the bag,
- 26:39Speaker 1: steal everything. And they can fill that bag right up
- 26:42Speaker 1: to $ 999. So it's been a big problem. And you've
- 26:46Speaker 1: seen the result that you got to ring a bell
- 26:50Speaker 1: and everything's locked up. So New York City restaurants, this
- 26:54Speaker 1: is the new problem. More and more people go into
- 26:56Speaker 1: a restaurant, they sit down, they order, they eat, they
- 26:59Speaker 1: have dinner, and then they run out without paying the check.
- 27:01Speaker 1: They're called dine-in dashers. Well, dine-in dashers... have become a
- 27:07Speaker 1: huge problem in New York. It's happening more and more
- 27:09Speaker 1: and more. It's growing. Now, the police will not do
- 27:13Speaker 1: much of anything because it's a misdemeanor. Let's say it's
- 27:19Speaker 1: a $ 100 restaurant loss. It's a misdemeanor. They're not going
- 27:22Speaker 1: to do anything. So restaurants don't know what the hell
- 27:25Speaker 1: to do. But what they've been doing, these restaurants, is
- 27:31Speaker 1: trying to shame the person on social media. It's worked
- 27:34Speaker 1: in a few cases. So they all have surveillance video.
- 27:38Speaker 1: They can get a picture of the people from the
- 27:40Speaker 1: surveillance video, and then they'll post it online saying this person,
- 27:45Speaker 1: theft of services, and they'll try to shame the person
- 27:48Speaker 1: on Instagram and Facebook and TikTok. And here was one restaurant.
- 27:52Speaker 1: They put the picture up and everything. Within 10 minutes,
- 27:55Speaker 1: somebody texted them with the name of the perp. And now, again,
- 28:01Speaker 1: if the police aren't going to do anything, I don't
- 28:02Speaker 1: know what it means once you identify them, but at
- 28:04Speaker 1: least you can embarrass them online. but it's going on
- 28:07Speaker 1: all over the place. What's the deal with the phones?
- 28:09Speaker 1: They're not working. Are they, uh, Oh, they're, they're working,
- 28:14Speaker 1: but this isn't working in here, but let's go to, uh,
- 28:18Speaker 1: Mike calling from Florida. Mike, how you doing? Mike, are
- 28:23Speaker 1: you there? Mike in Florida. I don't know. It sounds
- 28:29Speaker 1: like they're not working. Maybe you guys have to pick
- 28:33Speaker 1: it up in there. This, this, uh, These buttons in
- 28:36Speaker 1: here aren't working. Hiya. Hey, Mike, there you are.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Good morning. Yes. Good morning, Mark.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:42Speaker 3: You've been pointing out how the left likes to create
- 28:45Speaker 3: hysterias to get the voters motivated, the most recent one
- 28:49Speaker 3: being the AI hysteria. I'd like to remind people that
- 28:54Speaker 3: in 1979, and you can just imagine who led these things,
- 28:57Speaker 3: Bruce Springsteen had the No Nukes concert, and stupid Jane
- 29:01Speaker 3: Fonda had the China Syndrome concert, And for 50 years
- 29:05Speaker 3: since then, or 47 years since then, we've lagged behind
- 29:09Speaker 3: nuclear energy. Nuclear energy that would have been a boon
- 29:14Speaker 3: to everybody was sidetracked because two idiots created this hysteria
- 29:19Speaker 3: that everybody signed on for.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Yeah, these left-wing people, they shut down. Andrew Cuomo, one
- 29:26Speaker 1: of the ways he really damaged New York is he
- 29:27Speaker 1: shut down Indian Point. That's 25% of our electricity. Exactly.
- 29:32Speaker 1: It tripled everybody's electric bill.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:36Speaker 3: And it's, you know, there should be a nuclear power
- 29:38Speaker 3: plant in every corner by now. That's not crazy. No, but,
- 29:43Speaker 3: you know, what I'm saying, it's, you know, it's safer,
- 29:45Speaker 3: far safer than it's ever been. You know, they've changed
- 29:48Speaker 3: the technology. But AI, my point is that they're going
- 29:51Speaker 3: to do the same thing to AI that they did
- 29:53Speaker 3: with the nuclear power. You know, they're going to make
- 29:56Speaker 3: us lag and, you know, we're going to suffer for it.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely right, Mike. Great call. Thanks for calling. Yeah.
- 30:02Speaker 1: They did the same thing, as we've pointed out, with electricity.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Believe it or not, when electricity was invented, same thing happened.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Everybody said, it's going to kill us all. Electricity is
- 30:13Speaker 1: going to wipe us out. It's going to be out
- 30:16Speaker 1: of control, this thing called electricity. This got so widespread
- 30:21Speaker 1: that a woman wrote a book called Frankenstein. about electricity
- 30:26Speaker 1: could create a monster that could run around killing people.
- 30:29Speaker 1: That's where the book Frankenstein comes from. This hysteria about
- 30:32Speaker 1: how dangerous electricity was. So it's happened a lot. The
- 30:36Speaker 1: only thing with AI, it is different in that it
- 30:40Speaker 1: can take action. It can attack a website. It can attack,
- 30:44Speaker 1: it can hack into stuff. It is something that you're
- 30:47Speaker 1: going to have to figure out how to keep it
- 30:49Speaker 1: under control. Anyway, let's go to, you guys have to
- 30:51Speaker 1: push it in there, I think. David in Connecticut. David,
- 30:54Speaker 1: how are you doing? Good, Mark.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Hey, good morning. Hey, regarding the motorcycles, I just want
- 30:59Speaker 4: to give an example. Each one is completely different. They
- 31:03Speaker 4: have different personalities, just like a restaurant does. They all
- 31:05Speaker 4: have different atmosphere.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 31:11Speaker 1: That explains it. You believe this guy? He thinks they
- 31:13Speaker 1: have personalities. What is wrong with you? They have a motorcycle.
- 31:16Speaker 1: What do you mean they have personalities?
- 31:19Speaker 3: They do.
- 31:19Speaker 4: What's the difference between a Ferrari and a Volkswagen? You
- 31:22Speaker 4: don't think they have different personalities?
- 31:24Speaker 1: Yeah, well, one costs 12 cents and the other is
- 31:26Speaker 1: like $ 500, 000. One goes a million miles an hour and
- 31:29Speaker 1: one goes and barely runs.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Okay, well, you just made my example. One goes.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Okay, but in that case, I would get rid of
- 31:39Speaker 1: the Volkswagen and I'll just drive the Ferrari. Why can't
- 31:41Speaker 1: you just pick one motorcycle?
- 31:45Speaker 3: I get it.
- 31:46Speaker 1: No, I don't. Are you a motorcycle collector?
- 31:50Speaker 4: No, I own a couple old cars, but I did
- 31:53Speaker 4: have a motorcycle. Okay.
- 31:55Speaker 1: And then, you know, when we're driving, and you motorcycle
- 31:58Speaker 1: people weave in and out, and we can't stand this.
- 32:01Speaker 1: You drive us all nuts on the road.
- 32:02Speaker 4: Oh, I agree with that.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:03Speaker 4: You get injured that way.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:05Speaker 4: You get killed.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. Well, good point. What is the personality
- 32:10Speaker 1: of a motorcycle, though, besides comfort and speed? What else
- 32:13Speaker 1: is there?
- 32:15Speaker 4: Some are much lighter. Some are much heavier.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:19Speaker 4: Some are designed for the highway. Some are designed for off-road.
- 32:22Speaker 4: That's the easiest example.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Okay. All right. Well, that clears it up. Thanks for calling, David.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Take care.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Take care.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Thanks. I still don't get this. It's a motorcycle. Get
- 32:35Speaker 1: a car. You can sit in a nice, comfortable seat.
- 32:37Speaker 1: You can hear the radio. You can talk on the phone.
- 32:41Speaker 1: You got a cup holder you can drink. Get a car.
- 32:44Speaker 1: What are you riding around on a motorcycle for? Let's
- 32:47Speaker 1: go to Dennis in New Jersey. Dennis, how you doing? Dennis,
- 32:54Speaker 1: are you there?
- 32:56Speaker 4: Yes, hi. Dennis from Glen Rock.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Yes.
- 33:01Speaker 4: On the restaurants, why don't they ask for the credit
- 33:04Speaker 4: card first before they.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Oh, I like that.
- 33:07Speaker 1: That's a good idea. Yeah. Okay, well, No, very good point, Dennis.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Thanks for calling. Thanks for calling. That's what's going to
- 33:15Speaker 1: happen because, you know, once they start stealing everything out
- 33:18Speaker 1: of the drugstore, now everything's locked up. That's going to
- 33:21Speaker 1: happen in restaurants because all this dine and dash. You're
- 33:23Speaker 1: going to have to pay ahead of time. Now, of course,
- 33:26Speaker 1: these guys could have bad credit cards, but they'd have
- 33:28Speaker 1: time to check out the credit card. Anyway, we got
- 33:32Speaker 1: a lot to get to today. Don't forget, I'm here
- 33:33Speaker 1: three hours every day, nine to noon every day. on
- 33:38Speaker 1: 710 WOR. Then coming up at noon, you got Buck
- 33:40Speaker 1: and Clay. That's a really good show. Then you got
- 33:43Speaker 1: the most listened to radio show in America. You got
- 33:45Speaker 1: Sean Hannity, three o'clock. You got Jesse Kelly at six,
- 33:49Speaker 1: nine o'clock. Very funny and very interesting show. Makes a
- 33:53Speaker 1: lot of great points on there. Well, in fact, we'll
- 33:55Speaker 1: talk about one of his points after the news coming up.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Jimmy Fela, every night, nine to midnight, On 710WOR. Mark Simone. Mr.
- 34:04Speaker 1: New York. Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon.
- 34:10Speaker 1: On 710WOR. Hey, we're back to normal weather-wise. It's going
- 34:15Speaker 1: to be a nice day today. No rain. It could
- 34:18Speaker 1: be some rain late tonight overnight. But then tomorrow is
- 34:21Speaker 1: supposed to be a really nice day, like 75, some sunshine.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Back to normal weather. We've got another two hours to go,
- 34:28Speaker 1: and we'll get to it right after the news on 710WOR.
