- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome it is verdict with senator ted cruz ben ferguson
- 0:03Speaker 1: with you senator i tell you what it's been a
- 0:06Speaker 1: really fun week it got a lot more fun on
- 0:08Speaker 1: wednesday congratulations uh it is official you are now a
- 0:13Speaker 1: number one new york times best-selling author while being a
- 0:19Speaker 1: u.s senator i gotta say it's pretty impressive well done.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Well, this was a very, very good week. Last week,
- 0:25Speaker 2: my brand new book came out. It's called Going Further,
- 0:28Speaker 2: The Incomparable Clarence Thomas. It's a biography of Justice Thomas, who,
- 0:32Speaker 2: as you know, has been a friend of mine for
- 0:34Speaker 2: 30 years. He was a guest on the Verdict podcast.
- 0:37Speaker 2: By the way, if you have not watched that interview,
- 0:41Speaker 2: it was an hour and 20 minute interview I did
- 0:43Speaker 2: with Justice Thomas. It is the one and only podcast
- 0:45Speaker 2: Justice Thomas has ever done. You can watch it on YouTube.
- 0:49Speaker 2: And I would highly recommend it. It was a fascinating
- 0:52Speaker 2: and wonderful interview. And the book, this week on Wednesday,
- 0:57Speaker 2: the new New York Times bestseller list came out, and
- 0:59Speaker 2: the book is the number one bestselling book in the
- 1:02Speaker 2: entire country. And that's the first time all five books
- 1:04Speaker 2: I've written have been New York Times bestsellers, but I've
- 1:08Speaker 2: never had a number one. And so that's really gratifying.
- 1:11Speaker 2: A whole lot of people, I think, are enjoying the book.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I did a rally this week up in Fort Worth.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And it was great.
- 1:18Speaker 2: A whole bunch of people had bought the book and
- 1:20Speaker 2: brought it to the event. I think people are really
- 1:23Speaker 2: enjoying the book, and it's a big, big threshold. We're
- 1:27Speaker 2: going to talk about that a little more. We're also
- 1:29Speaker 2: going to talk about the 25th anniversary of September 11th
- 1:33Speaker 2: that is coming up, and at the same time as
- 1:36Speaker 2: the 25th anniversary of 9-11, Abdul Al-Sayyad, the radical Islamist
- 1:42Speaker 2: candidate in Michigan, is participating in a conference with Radical
- 1:47Speaker 2: clerics with people who justify and give excuses for the
- 1:52Speaker 2: terror attack on the United States on 9-11. We're going
- 1:54Speaker 2: to break that down and actually go through the long
- 1:58Speaker 2: history Abdul Al-Sayed has of tweets that are just astonishing
- 2:02Speaker 2: about September 11th. He's deleted all of his old tweets,
- 2:05Speaker 2: but the Internet is forever. And when you try to
- 2:09Speaker 2: delete something, it doesn't go away. We're going to bring
- 2:10Speaker 2: you back to those and walk through just how extreme
- 2:15Speaker 2: and anti-American this particular candidate is. And then we're also
- 2:19Speaker 2: going to talk about China. Chinese espionage, Chinese spying. Chinese
- 2:24Speaker 2: spying here in the United States, not far away, but
- 2:27Speaker 2: here in America. Multiple instances of Chinese spying, Chinese ships
- 2:33Speaker 2: spying on military bases, intercepting communications. Chinese nationals engaged in
- 2:38Speaker 2: espionage here in the United States, and even an American
- 2:41Speaker 2: citizen pleading guilty to being a Chinese spy here in America.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I'm going to break all of that down on today's pod.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really it's going to be a very, very
- 2:49Speaker 1: special show. I want to also take a moment and
- 2:51Speaker 1: tell you about the midterm elections. The stakes right now,
- 2:54Speaker 1: they couldn't be higher. And we finally have a president
- 2:57Speaker 1: and administration fighting hard for America first. But if we
- 3:01Speaker 1: as conservatives, we lose our focus. Well, the same people
- 3:04Speaker 1: who created this mess, they're waiting to resume their destructive, progressive,
- 3:08Speaker 1: radical agendas. Now, protecting this momentum takes more than votes.
- 3:13Speaker 1: It takes everyday Americans like you and I staying in
- 3:16Speaker 1: the fight for our rights and our freedoms. And that's
- 3:19Speaker 1: why more and more people I know are switching to
- 3:22Speaker 1: a company that stands up for what we believe in.
- 3:24Speaker 1: It's called Patriot Mobile. They are America's only Christian conservative
- 3:28Speaker 1: wireless provider. Patriot Mobile offers premium priority nationwide service in
- 3:33Speaker 1: all three U.S. major networks. They give you unlimited data plans,
- 3:37Speaker 1: mobile hotspots, international roaming, and 100% U.S.-based customer support. Now,
- 3:43Speaker 1: not only can you switch now in just minutes with
- 3:45Speaker 1: new technology, but you can keep your same phone and
- 3:47Speaker 1: keep your same phone number. Now, this is where the
- 3:51Speaker 1: magic happens. Patriot Mobile puts your money towards causes defending faith, family,
- 3:57Speaker 1: and freedom. At no extra cost to you, they literally
- 3:59Speaker 1: contribute millions of dollars each year to organizations on the
- 4:03Speaker 1: front lines that are fighting for our God-given rights, as
- 4:07Speaker 1: well as our veterans. Now, Patriot Mobile isn't just talking
- 4:10Speaker 1: about saving America. They're actually putting their entire business behind
- 4:13Speaker 1: the fight every day. So if you're going to have
- 4:16Speaker 1: a cell phone and pay that bill every month, stand
- 4:18Speaker 1: with a company that's fighting for what we believe in.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I want to give you a free month of service.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Go to patriotmobile.com slash verdict. That's patriotmobile.com slash verdict. Use
- 4:29Speaker 1: the promo code VERDICT. You'll get a free month of service.
- 4:32Speaker 1: And you can also just call them 972-PATRIOT. That's 972-PATRIOT
- 4:37Speaker 1: or patriotmobile.com slash verdict. And the promo code is VERDICT
- 4:41Speaker 1: for a free month of service. All right, Senator. So
- 4:44Speaker 1: let's just go back to the excitement. Where were you
- 4:47Speaker 1: and how did you find out that you finally have
- 4:49Speaker 1: a number one New York Times bestselling book? I don't
- 4:53Speaker 1: know who was more excited, by the way, if it
- 4:54Speaker 1: was me or you, because I was stalking it all
- 4:57Speaker 1: day on Wednesday and hoping that it was number one.
- 5:01Speaker 1: It's every author's dream. You've done, what is it, your
- 5:04Speaker 1: fifth book? I did one. Even just being a bestseller
- 5:07Speaker 1: is amazing, but being number one is a whole nother level.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I've got to say, Ben, you're hurting my feelings with
- 5:13Speaker 2: that word, finally.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I mean, there.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Seems to be a whole lot of judgment there. You're
- 5:18Speaker 2: casting some serious aspersions on my first four books. I
- 5:21Speaker 2: liked the first four. I thought they were good books.
- 5:23Speaker 2: They sold well. But I think the highest I'd ever
- 5:26Speaker 2: made was number five on the list. So number one
- 5:29Speaker 2: was gratifying. And look, this book really was a labor
- 5:35Speaker 2: of love. The reason I wrote it is because Justice Thomas,
- 5:39Speaker 2: I think, is an American hero. And he's someone whose
- 5:42Speaker 2: story is inspiring. And a lot of people don't know it.
- 5:47Speaker 2: A lot of Americans don't know his story coming from
- 5:51Speaker 2: abject poverty, facing just withering racism, and rising to the
- 5:57Speaker 2: very top, the pinnacle of American law. But also his
- 6:01Speaker 2: ideological journey, going from being an angry left-wing radical to
- 6:06Speaker 2: one of the most conservative thinkers in history. And the
- 6:12Speaker 2: book tries to do both of those and at the
- 6:14Speaker 2: same time take his more than 30 years of jurisprudence
- 6:18Speaker 2: and explain it. Explain it in terms that are understandable.
- 6:21Speaker 2: You don't have to be a lawyer. You don't have
- 6:22Speaker 2: to be a constitutional law expert. It's designed to make
- 6:28Speaker 2: you understand why it matters. Right now today, Clarence Thomas
- 6:31Speaker 2: is the second longest-serving Supreme Court justice in history. In
- 6:35Speaker 2: less than two years, he'll be the longest-serving justice in history,
- 6:39Speaker 2: and he has written opinions over the decades that are
- 6:42Speaker 2: profoundly consequential on issues ranging from race. There has been
- 6:47Speaker 2: no more important justice in the Supreme Court writing on
- 6:50Speaker 2: issues of race and the Constitution's protections against racial discrimination
- 6:55Speaker 2: by government than Clarence Thomas. And that, the book explains
- 7:00Speaker 2: at great length. He has written, obviously, on abortion and
- 7:04Speaker 2: Roe versus Wade. He has written on the Second Amendment,
- 7:06Speaker 2: the right to keep and bear arms. He has written
- 7:08Speaker 2: a great deal on Reconstruction and the fundamental rights of Americans.
- 7:17Speaker 2: And he's also written, there's an extensive discussion of his
- 7:22Speaker 2: opinion in the Kelo case. So the Kelo case was
- 7:26Speaker 2: a case where the court upheld a city taking a
- 7:29Speaker 2: woman's private home, not for public use, but instead for
- 7:36Speaker 2: a parking lot for Pfizer, the giant pharmaceutical company. And
- 7:41Speaker 2: Justice Thomas dissented in Kelo when he wrote in his opinion,
- 7:43Speaker 2: the Constitution says you can take private property for, quote,
- 7:46Speaker 2: public use. the Supreme Court over the years had basically
- 7:50Speaker 2: changed the words public use to public purpose. And Justice
- 7:54Speaker 2: Thomas said, look, that's not what the Constitution says. Public
- 7:57Speaker 2: use means you can take a house, say, if you're
- 7:59Speaker 2: building a road or a highway or a school or
- 8:01Speaker 2: a library, something that's a government building that the public
- 8:03Speaker 2: is using. But the argument here was not that the
- 8:06Speaker 2: public was going to use it, but essentially that there
- 8:09Speaker 2: was a broad public purpose in taking this poor woman's
- 8:12Speaker 2: house because a parking lot would be more valuable to
- 8:14Speaker 2: the community. And Justice Thomas says, look, that's contrary to
- 8:18Speaker 2: the words of the Constitution. What's interesting that I write
- 8:21Speaker 2: about in the book is even though in that particular case,
- 8:24Speaker 2: and Justice Thomas has dissented in many cases, he won
- 8:27Speaker 2: by losing because his dissent was persuasive. And many, many states,
- 8:32Speaker 2: including Texas, have passed laws that now put into law
- 8:35Speaker 2: that you cannot take private property for public purpose only
- 8:39Speaker 2: for public use. His dissent was more persuasive than the majority's.
- 8:43Speaker 2: And a prediction I've made, if a case comes challenging Kelo,
- 8:45Speaker 2: the court will overturn it now. It will embrace Thomas's
- 8:48Speaker 2: dissent as it has in so many other areas.
- 8:51Speaker 1: All right, Senator, let's get into Abdul El-Said. He is
- 8:55Speaker 1: going to join a panel. And the anniversary, an important anniversary,
- 9:00Speaker 1: the 25th anniversary of 9-11 is coming up. He is
- 9:04Speaker 1: going to join a panel with 9-11 conspiracy theorists at
- 9:09Speaker 1: an Islamic convention. Now, this convention clearly is being done
- 9:13Speaker 1: just days before the 9-11 anniversary. Obviously, they chose that
- 9:17Speaker 1: on purpose. But I cannot believe that more are not
- 9:22Speaker 1: talking about the Democratic Michigan Senate nominee and what he
- 9:27Speaker 1: is scheduled to speak at and who's around him.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Well, I got to say it. The Democrats running for
- 9:32Speaker 2: Senate across the country seem to be competing with each
- 9:34Speaker 2: other in terms of who can be more radical, more extreme,
- 9:37Speaker 2: more out of the mainstream. On Wednesday's podcast, we covered
- 9:41Speaker 2: James Tallarico, the extreme left-wing Democrat running for Senate in Texas.
- 9:45Speaker 2: And in particular, we uncovered The Zoom call he did
- 9:50Speaker 2: six years ago with left-wing activists from the Sierra Club
- 9:54Speaker 2: where he pledged to, quote, dismantle capitalism.
- 9:59Speaker 1: These guys are.
- 10:00Speaker 2: radicals and extreme. Well, Abdul Al-Sayed basically said to Telerico,
- 10:05Speaker 2: hold my beer, I can be more extreme than you can.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And the story you just noted, so this coming week,
- 10:13Speaker 2: is the 25th anniversary of September 11th. That was the
- 10:16Speaker 2: most horrific terror attack on the homeland in American history.
- 10:21Speaker 2: And instead of honoring that attack, instead of honoring the
- 10:28Speaker 2: nearly 3,000 lives that were taken that day, Abdul El-Sayed
- 10:32Speaker 2: is speaking at an Islamic conference that is essentially defending
- 10:37Speaker 2: the attackers. Here, I'm going to read to you a
- 10:39Speaker 2: story from the Washington Free Beacons. Democratic Senator, Michigan Senate
- 10:43Speaker 2: nominee Abdul El-Sayed is scheduled to speak at an Islamic
- 10:46Speaker 2: convention this weekend, six days before the 25th anniversary of 9-11.
- 10:51Speaker 2: On a panel alongside a quote 9-11 truther and a
- 10:56Speaker 2: Muslim cleric conspiracy theorist who has called for an examination
- 11:01Speaker 2: of the official narrative surrounding the terrorist attacks. El-Sayed is
- 11:06Speaker 2: headlining the Islamic Society of North America's annual convention in
- 11:09Speaker 2: Detroit on Saturday. There, El-Said will speak on a panel
- 11:13Speaker 2: to examine a, quote, turmoil to America, alongside left-wing pundits
- 11:18Speaker 2: Sent Uygur and Zaid Shakir, an outspoken New Jersey-based cleric.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Both men have promoted conspiracy theories surrounding 9-11, in which
- 11:30Speaker 2: Al-Qaeda operatives killed 2,977 Americans. Quote, I no longer believe
- 11:33Speaker 2: the official 9-11 story. Ugyur declared in a social media
- 11:43Speaker 2: rant in February. Ugyur, who hosts the Young Turks YouTube show,
- 11:48Speaker 2: is now pushing debunked claims about Israeli involvement. Because, of course,
- 11:52Speaker 2: Israel is the one that committed 9-11. Don't you know that?
- 11:54Speaker 2: I mean, look, these guys are radicals and kooks. Including the, quote,
- 11:59Speaker 2: dancing Israelis myth, an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that posits that
- 12:03Speaker 2: five Israeli spies filmed and celebrated the terrorist attack. Quote,
- 12:08Speaker 2: I didn't know we arrested Israeli spies who were here
- 12:11Speaker 2: to document the event, wrote Ugyur, who is the uncle
- 12:15Speaker 2: of Hassan Piker, a close al-Said ally who has said
- 12:18Speaker 2: that America deserved 9-11. Boy, I didn't know that. Did
- 12:21Speaker 2: you know that Sank Ugyur is the uncle of Hassan Piker?
- 12:25Speaker 1: You know what? I did know that only because I've
- 12:27Speaker 1: had to deal with him so many times. You know, he...
- 12:30Speaker 1: He had to go on Piers Morgan's show and do
- 12:32Speaker 1: a mea culpa after losing it when he was debating
- 12:35Speaker 1: me recently over the issue of Israel, oddly enough, because
- 12:39Speaker 1: he's absolutely obsessed with Israel and anyone that supports Israel.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And this is where the hate comes from within the
- 12:45Speaker 1: Democratic Party. By the way, that clip when it went
- 12:47Speaker 1: completely viral, Piers brought him back to try to rehabilitate himself,
- 12:51Speaker 1: and then he doubled down on it, which was even funnier.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Well, Hassan Piker, who's campaigned alongside Abdul Al-Sayed, said America
- 12:59Speaker 2: deserved 9-11, he's the nephew of Sankogir, who now Abdul
- 13:04Speaker 2: Sayyed is sitting on the panel with, Ogir was widely mocked,
- 13:08Speaker 2: as one outlet described it, for going full 9-11 truther. Similarly,
- 13:12Speaker 2: Shakir has called for a, quote, examination of what he
- 13:16Speaker 2: describes as glaring weaknesses and inconsistencies in the official 9-11 narrative.
- 13:21Speaker 2: He has argued that the U.S. government used the attacks to, quote,
- 13:24Speaker 2: launch a war on Islam. And he directed followers to
- 13:27Speaker 2: the writing of David Ray Giffen, a leading 9-11 conspiracy theorist,
- 13:31Speaker 2: who has argued that the United States orchestrated the attacks. Look,
- 13:34Speaker 2: these people are kooks. This guy is standing there going, oh, yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 2: the American government is the one that knocked down the
- 13:38Speaker 2: World Trade Center. The American government is the one that
- 13:40Speaker 2: attacked the Pentagon. But they're not just kooks. It's not
- 13:44Speaker 2: just crazy. It's not just thinking you see little green men.
- 13:48Speaker 2: It is anti-American conspiracy theories that always, always, always blame
- 13:53Speaker 2: America and always, always, always apologize for radical Islamic terrorists
- 13:57Speaker 2: who are murdering Americans. It is conspiracy theory with an
- 14:05Speaker 2: ideological bite to it. And look, in a September 11,
- 14:12Speaker 2: 2012 essay for CNN, that called Muslims, quote, another victim
- 14:18Speaker 2: of 9-11. El-Sayed cited a study conducted in California that
- 14:23Speaker 2: found a dramatic increase in premature births for Muslim women
- 14:26Speaker 2: after 9-11 compared to before the attacks. El-Sayed omitted from
- 14:31Speaker 2: his essay the findings of his own study comparing birth
- 14:34Speaker 2: outcomes for Muslim women before and after 9-11, which found
- 14:38Speaker 2: no difference in premature births. Shakir in addition to propagating
- 14:43Speaker 2: 9-11 conspiracy theories, has blamed Israel for other terrorist attacks
- 14:47Speaker 2: and called for Muslims to, quote, use guerrilla warfare to
- 14:52Speaker 2: achieve their desired political outcomes. In a 1992 treatise, Shakir
- 14:58Speaker 2: argued for Muslims to embrace, quote, extra-systemic political action ranging from, quote,
- 15:05Speaker 2: non-cooperative tactics to guerrilla war in order to influence government
- 15:11Speaker 2: policies or eradicate the system altogether. Shakir asserted that every
- 15:16Speaker 2: major Muslim political gain in modern history was brought about
- 15:19Speaker 2: through such action and cited the creation of the Islamic
- 15:23Speaker 2: Republic of Iran and the, quote, armed struggle that led
- 15:27Speaker 2: to the Taliban control of Afghanistan. So understand this. Abdul
- 15:30Speaker 2: Al-Sayed is sitting next to a guy who thinks it's
- 15:33Speaker 2: great that the Ayatollah carried out a revolution in Iran
- 15:37Speaker 2: and and took Americans hostage for 444 days and waged
- 15:41Speaker 2: war against America for 47 years. He thinks it's great
- 15:44Speaker 2: that the Taliban took control of Afghanistan and oppressed women
- 15:47Speaker 2: and enforced Sharia law on everyone. And by the way,
- 15:50Speaker 2: coddled and nurtured al-Qaeda, which launched 9-11. These are the radicals,
- 15:55Speaker 2: and this is who al-Sayed is associating with on the
- 16:02Speaker 2: anniversary of 9-11. This is who the man is. When
- 16:04Speaker 2: he tells you who he is, believe him.
- 16:07Speaker 1: All right, let me pause just for a second and
- 16:08Speaker 1: talk about something that is about to happen. 25 years
- 16:12Speaker 1: ago is the anniversary of 9-11, and America faced the
- 16:16Speaker 1: heartbreak of a terrorist attack at home. Now, just three
- 16:19Speaker 1: years ago, on October 7, 2023, Israel endured that same
- 16:23Speaker 1: heartbreak in the Holy Land. Different decades, different attacks, the
- 16:28Speaker 1: same evils. Now, each year, the International Fellowship of Christians
- 16:32Speaker 1: and Jews hosts Flags of Fellowship. It's a movement that
- 16:35Speaker 1: you can get involved with with your church, where thousands
- 16:38Speaker 1: of churches display memorial flags to honor the 1,200 lives
- 16:42Speaker 1: lost on October the 7th. It's a way to stand
- 16:45Speaker 1: with Israel in faith, prayer, remembrance, and solidarity. Each flag
- 16:50Speaker 1: represents a loved one, a family forever changed, and a
- 16:53Speaker 1: promise that we will not forget. Today, hatred and violence
- 16:57Speaker 1: still threaten our world. Yet scripture calls us to stand firm,
- 17:01Speaker 1: comfort the grieving, honor those that were lost, and shine
- 17:04Speaker 1: a light in the darkness. Now together, we remember and
- 17:07Speaker 1: honor and declare that evil will not have the final word.
- 17:11Speaker 1: So join thousands of churches and get yours involved all
- 17:15Speaker 1: across America in this powerful act of remembrance and support
- 17:19Speaker 1: for Israel. You can learn how your church can participate
- 17:22Speaker 1: in Flags of Fellowship at joinfof.org. That's joinfof.org. Senator, I
- 17:31Speaker 1: want to go back to this conference for a second.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And who is putting on this conference where Al-Said is
- 17:38Speaker 1: going to be hanging out with these conspiracy theorists on the,
- 17:41Speaker 1: basically on the 25th anniversary of 9-11?
- 17:43Speaker 2: Well, it's a group that's called the Islamic Society of
- 17:47Speaker 2: North America. And it was founded, do you know who
- 17:50Speaker 2: one of the founders was?
- 17:51Speaker 1: Who is it?
- 17:52Speaker 2: Abdul Al-Sayed's father-in-law. So his father-in-law was one of the
- 17:56Speaker 2: founders of this organization. By the way, his father-in-law is
- 18:00Speaker 2: also the single largest donor to Abdul Al-Sayed's super PAC.
- 18:04Speaker 2: So this is a man who's funding his campaign. And
- 18:09Speaker 2: what is the Islamic Society of North America? Well, it
- 18:12Speaker 2: is a group with extensive ties to the Muslim Brotherhood,
- 18:15Speaker 2: which is a terrorist organization. It's been designated... by the U.S.
- 18:18Speaker 2: government as a terrorist organization. It has been designated by
- 18:21Speaker 2: Egypt and Saudi Arabia and the UAE as a terrorist organization.
- 18:24Speaker 2: And the Islamic Society of North America is closely affiliated
- 18:27Speaker 2: with the Muslim Brotherhood, so closely that the Islamic Society
- 18:31Speaker 2: of North America was named an unindicted co-conspirator in a
- 18:36Speaker 2: 2008 Hamas fundraising case, the Holy Land case, This is,
- 18:43Speaker 2: and by the way, that was a case where millions
- 18:45Speaker 2: of dollars had been funneled from Americans to fund Hamas
- 18:49Speaker 2: and to fund terror attacks. The group, who's an unindicted
- 18:53Speaker 2: co-conspirator in that, is who is hosting Abdul Al-Sayed. By
- 18:58Speaker 2: the way, another speaker at the conference is a Texas-based
- 19:01Speaker 2: cleric named Yassir Qadi, who has called the Holocaust a hoax.
- 19:07Speaker 2: These are not mainstream. These are not normal people. These
- 19:09Speaker 2: are radicals. And I want to note also, Do you
- 19:12Speaker 2: know who used to be on the agenda? He's not
- 19:13Speaker 2: going to be on the agenda, but he was originally.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Who was that?
- 19:17Speaker 2: A Pakistani cleric named Tariq Masood. He was scheduled to
- 19:22Speaker 2: appear at the event. And he admitted to forcing his
- 19:27Speaker 2: 13-year-old niece into marriage.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Wow.
- 19:33Speaker 2: In compliance with what he believed was Islamic law. And
- 19:37Speaker 2: he's been accused of pedophilic rhetoric and marriage with her
- 19:41Speaker 2: own family. And he argued that Muslims should marry their
- 19:46Speaker 2: 13-year-old nieces and nephews and their family. and should essentially
- 19:50Speaker 2: rape children. So this Pakistani cleric was on the agenda,
- 19:56Speaker 2: and actually Verdict covered this. We covered this in a
- 19:58Speaker 2: previous pod, and we said Abdul Al-Sayed is speaking alongside
- 20:01Speaker 2: this person who quite openly is bragged about pressuring his
- 20:07Speaker 2: 13-year-old niece, forcing her into marriage, and said this was
- 20:09Speaker 2: a good thing. And Abdul Al-Sayed's defense at the time was, well, yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 2: we're both speaking at the same conference, but we're on
- 20:16Speaker 2: different panels. I'm not speaking on the same panel with him.
- 20:18Speaker 2: He's on a different panel. The public outcry was so
- 20:21Speaker 2: great that they canceled the cleric Tariq Massoud, but you
- 20:25Speaker 2: know what? Abdul Al-Sayed is still speaking there with every
- 20:27Speaker 2: other conspiracy theorist, and being an anti-American... Holocaust-denying, 9-11 truther,
- 20:36Speaker 2: Hamas and al-Qaeda-defending zealot and Islamist, well, that is apparently
- 20:41Speaker 2: a very popular thing in the Democrat Party right now.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it really, really is. And this, again, goes back
- 20:47Speaker 1: to the civil war that we're witnessing right now in
- 20:50Speaker 1: the Democratic Party. It's really funny, by the way, and
- 20:52Speaker 1: I want to get your reaction to this. You had
- 20:56Speaker 1: some Democrats come out and say that Hassan Piker and
- 20:59Speaker 1: Al Saeed basically need to get out of the Democratic Party,
- 21:01Speaker 1: that they're not stop using the word Democrat with Socialists
- 21:04Speaker 1: of America. James Carville came out and said that. I
- 21:08Speaker 1: kind of laughed at his meltdown because it's only because
- 21:11Speaker 1: they're afraid they're going to lose that they're now saying this.
- 21:14Speaker 1: They did not keep any of these crazies in check.
- 21:17Speaker 1: And now he's like, get out of my party. You know,
- 21:20Speaker 1: quit using the name Democratic. Just be a socialist if
- 21:23Speaker 1: you're going to be a socialist. And my response would be, well,
- 21:26Speaker 1: then why did you allow them to run in the
- 21:28Speaker 1: Democratic primaries if you're now claiming that they are not Democrats?
- 21:33Speaker 2: Look, they're taking over the Democrat Party, and it is–
- 21:38Speaker 2: It's clear that not every Democrat in the Senate or
- 21:42Speaker 2: House is a Marxist or an Islamist, but every one
- 21:46Speaker 2: of them is terrified of the Marxist and Islamist. And
- 21:49Speaker 2: they're holding the party hostage. They're winning primaries all over
- 21:52Speaker 2: the country from New York City to Michigan to Colorado
- 21:56Speaker 2: to Florida to Oklahoma. And all the Democrats are terrified.
- 22:01Speaker 2: And by the way, these radicals pretend they're not as
- 22:06Speaker 2: radical as– As they are. So, for example, I want
- 22:09Speaker 2: to listen to you. I want you to listen to
- 22:11Speaker 2: Abdul Al-Sayed on CBS talking about 9-11 and pretending that
- 22:18Speaker 2: he's much more reasonable on it. Give a listen.
- 22:21Speaker 1: We noticed that there were some resurface posts on 9-11.
- 22:25Speaker 3: And I was wondering if it's making it challenging to
- 22:28Speaker 3: reach more Republican or more moderate voters in this race.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I think all of us look back
- 22:33Speaker 4: and say 9-11 was an awful thing that happened in
- 22:35Speaker 4: this country.
- 22:36Speaker 3: And I think all of us also look back and say,
- 22:38Speaker 3: think about all the wars that were fought, and how
- 22:41Speaker 3: much safer do we feel like they made us? How
- 22:44Speaker 3: many lives did they ruin? And my point is just
- 22:47Speaker 3: to say that what happened on 9-11 is a disaster.
- 22:51Speaker 3: It was a terrible attack on our country.
- 22:54Speaker 4: And our responsibility is also to think about how do
- 22:57Speaker 4: we build.
- 22:57Speaker 1: An America where we.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Are protecting our servicemen and women, from being asked to
- 23:04Speaker 3: fight in wars we have no business fighting that ultimately
- 23:08Speaker 3: end up doing harm to people.
- 23:10Speaker 4: And we're seeing that right now.
- 23:12Speaker 3: If you look at the consequences of this war, that
- 23:15Speaker 3: we have no business fighting, the billions of dollars.
- 23:18Speaker 4: That are being spent to raise our gas prices, we're
- 23:22Speaker 4: in a quagmire we don't know how to get out of.
- 23:23Speaker 4: And you'd think that after the disasters in Afghanistan.
- 23:28Speaker 1: And Iraq that we would have learned a lesson, but
- 23:30Speaker 1: apparently not.
- 23:32Speaker 3: And so I just think it's really important for us
- 23:34Speaker 3: to be learning the lessons of our history. And I'm
- 23:37Speaker 3: talking to Michiganders every single day who wonder when the
- 23:40Speaker 3: era of all these wars.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Is going to end because that's what Donald Trump said
- 23:43Speaker 4: he was going to do. He said America first.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I'm America first.
- 23:46Speaker 4: There is not a day that goes by that I
- 23:48Speaker 4: don't think about the destruction that 9-11 wrought and also
- 23:54Speaker 4: think about how do we build an America where we're
- 23:57Speaker 4: not constantly fighting wars we have no business to fight.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Both of those things can be true.
- 24:03Speaker 1: All right. So, Senator, you hear that. And it is, again,
- 24:07Speaker 1: he's clearly saying, all right, I got to pivot from
- 24:09Speaker 1: what I've been saying and what I really believe. And
- 24:12Speaker 1: I'm going to totally change it. And you're like, all right, buddy, sure,
- 24:15Speaker 1: I believe you.
- 24:16Speaker 2: So what's interesting, if you actually listen to the words
- 24:18Speaker 2: he said, he's not even entirely pivoting. So like what
- 24:20Speaker 2: he says there at the end is, quote, there's not
- 24:23Speaker 2: a day that goes by that I don't think about
- 24:26Speaker 2: the destruction that 9-11 wrought. What's interesting, when he's talking
- 24:30Speaker 2: about destruction that 9-11 wrought, he doesn't mean the 3,000
- 24:33Speaker 2: Americans murdered. He means the destruction that America destroyed al-Qaeda,
- 24:38Speaker 2: that America destroyed the Taliban. He is mourning that it
- 24:42Speaker 2: cost the terrorists their lives. And by the way, if
- 24:47Speaker 2: you think, well, no, no, no, surely that can't.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Be the case.
- 24:51Speaker 2: As I mentioned, he had made a ton of tweets
- 24:57Speaker 2: about about 9-11. And when he launched a Senate campaign,
- 25:00Speaker 2: what did he do? He deleted all of them. So
- 25:03Speaker 2: there were 11 tweets from 2020 to 2022 in which
- 25:08Speaker 2: he trivialized 9-11. And you listen to some of them.
- 25:12Speaker 2: So here's one he sent. The fact that the U.S.
- 25:15Speaker 2: government continues to pit the Afghan people against 9-11 families
- 25:18Speaker 2: is appalling. All are victims. All deserve the full share
- 25:23Speaker 2: of support they are owed. Here's another one. The hypocrisy
- 25:27Speaker 2: of the U.S. war on terror, withholding humanitarian aid from
- 25:30Speaker 2: the Afghan people who had nothing to do with 9-11
- 25:33Speaker 2: but endured 20 years of war for it and are
- 25:35Speaker 2: now facing famine while exporting weapons to Saudi government allies
- 25:40Speaker 2: that exported the ideology that created bin Laden. Here's another one.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Defending America never should have meant responding to tribalistic grievance
- 25:47Speaker 2: with tribalistic grievance as so much of the post-9-11 era
- 25:52Speaker 2: has been. Rather, it should have meant embracing the ideals
- 25:55Speaker 2: that transcend it Here's another very revealing one that he
- 26:00Speaker 2: sent on September 11th, 2021. Quote, Today, I mourn the
- 26:06Speaker 2: 3,000 lives, 6,000 injuries, and infrastructural devastation in New York,
- 26:12Speaker 2: perpetuated ignorantly in the name of my faith. Tomorrow, I'll
- 26:17Speaker 2: mourn the 1 million lives, millions of injuries, and infrastructural
- 26:22Speaker 2: devastation in three countries, perpetuated ignorantly in the name of
- 26:27Speaker 2: my country. So understand, when he's saying he weeps the
- 26:30Speaker 2: devastation of 9-11, he doesn't mean the Americans killed. He
- 26:34Speaker 2: means he's mourning that we killed so many al-Qaeda terrorists
- 26:40Speaker 2: and Taliban terrorists. That's who he's mourning. And here's another
- 26:46Speaker 2: tweet that he deleted. COVID-19 has taken over 3,000 American lives,
- 26:49Speaker 2: more than 9-11. I hope that means we'll spend the
- 26:52Speaker 2: next 10 years fighting a war for public health and
- 26:54Speaker 2: against climate change and poverty like we launched a global
- 26:57Speaker 2: war on terror after 9-11. We could save lives rather
- 27:01Speaker 2: than take them. This is over and over and over again.
- 27:06Speaker 2: He has sent tweet after tweet after tweet. And the
- 27:13Speaker 2: amazing thing is he deleted them all. He thought no
- 27:16Speaker 2: one would notice. And this is someone This is someone
- 27:20Speaker 2: who wants to represent the state of Michigan in the
- 27:24Speaker 2: United States Senate. And he won the primary. And among radicals,
- 27:28Speaker 2: by the way, Bernie Sanders is supporting him. Elizabeth Warren
- 27:30Speaker 2: is supporting him. AOC is supporting him. Chuck Schumer is
- 27:35Speaker 2: supporting the guy. The senator from New York is supporting
- 27:39Speaker 2: the guy who is mourning the terrorist who carried out
- 27:41Speaker 2: the 9-11 attacks. It is astonishing.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Let me just take a moment and tell you about
- 27:47Speaker 1: an amazing opportunity for not only you, but your family
- 27:50Speaker 1: or your grandkids to learn about helping others. If you're
- 27:54Speaker 1: going to change someone's life, you want to know it
- 27:56Speaker 1: actually lasts. And that's one reason Compassion International has become
- 28:01Speaker 1: one of the most trusted child development ministries in the world. Now,
- 28:05Speaker 1: independent research shows children sponsored through Compassion actually stay in
- 28:09Speaker 1: school a lot longer. They're 40% more likely to graduate
- 28:12Speaker 1: from high school. And then this stat is even more amazing. 80%
- 28:17Speaker 1: more likely to finish college. That's because sponsorship isn't just
- 28:21Speaker 1: temporary relief. It's long-term investment through the local church, meeting
- 28:27Speaker 1: the fiscal needs while sharing the hope of Jesus. And
- 28:31Speaker 1: you can do what I do every month for just $ 43.
- 28:35Speaker 1: You can help shape a child's future. So sponsor a
- 28:39Speaker 1: child today at Compassion.com. That's Compassion.com. Senator, I want to
- 28:46Speaker 1: get into a bigger story, and it continues to get
- 28:49Speaker 1: bigger and bigger, and that is the issue of Chinese
- 28:51Speaker 1: spying and espionage and the influence in America. We've got
- 28:55Speaker 1: a new story this week. We have found out that
- 28:57Speaker 1: Chinese container ships have been used. It's a company called Costco.
- 29:03Speaker 1: They're owned by the Chinese government, and they apparently have
- 29:07Speaker 1: insanely sophisticated listening devices, spying devices on board of these
- 29:13Speaker 1: cargo ships that have been collecting intel for the Chinese
- 29:16Speaker 1: Communist Party in Beijing and concealing this equipment like, hey,
- 29:21Speaker 1: we're just here offloading equipment in America's ports. They've been
- 29:24Speaker 1: doing this apparently for years in the U.S.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Well, there are three related stories that are broken in
- 29:32Speaker 2: recent days, and they all concern Chinese spying and espionage
- 29:36Speaker 2: here in the United States. The first one you just referenced.
- 29:40Speaker 2: is a Chinese state-owned shipping giant, Costco, and this is
- 29:44Speaker 2: how Reuters has reported it, that Costco uses concealed equipment
- 29:49Speaker 2: on board its ships to spy on military communications near
- 29:53Speaker 2: the coastline of target nations, including the United States, two
- 29:57Speaker 2: senior Trump administration officials said. The officials who spoke on
- 30:00Speaker 2: conditions of anonymity to discuss U.S. assessment of the Chinese
- 30:03Speaker 2: program said Costco has a decades-long intelligence collection partnership with Beijing.
- 30:12Speaker 2: The arrangement allows China to collect communication signals from vessels
- 30:16Speaker 2: and aircraft operating across Europe, North America, and Asia. The
- 30:20Speaker 2: advanced equipment aboard the ships is intended to enable China
- 30:23Speaker 2: to gather information about, quote, military communications technologies and encryption developments,
- 30:29Speaker 2: one of the officials said. The effort also allows Beijing
- 30:32Speaker 2: to monitor key shipping lanes and maritime routes crucial for
- 30:35Speaker 2: trade and military navigation, the official added. Costco did not
- 30:40Speaker 2: respond to a request for comment, while the Chinese embassy
- 30:43Speaker 2: in Washington rejected the U.S. claims. President Trump and Chinese
- 30:48Speaker 2: leader Xi Jinping plan to meet in Washington for a
- 30:50Speaker 2: summit later this month, where they're expected to discuss a
- 30:53Speaker 2: range of issues related of sensitive security and trade issues.
- 30:57Speaker 2: The officials did not detail the type of equipment Costco
- 30:59Speaker 2: ships were allegedly using, but said they were, quote, sophisticated
- 31:04Speaker 2: signals intelligence collection platforms, not routine communications hardware. They said
- 31:10Speaker 2: Beijing uses the information gleaned to bolster its position in
- 31:14Speaker 2: territorial disputes and provide maritime reconnaissance and early warning indications
- 31:19Speaker 2: of foreign military targets. The Pentagon put Costco on its
- 31:25Speaker 2: list of companies linked to China's military in January 2025.
- 31:30Speaker 2: And nonetheless, Costco remains one of the top global shipping
- 31:35Speaker 2: companies calling at U.S. ports and has several terminal service
- 31:39Speaker 2: joint ventures for container ships at U.S. ports. So these
- 31:43Speaker 2: are container ships. They don't look like they're not military vessels.
- 31:46Speaker 2: They don't say Chinese Navy. They're a container ship. filled
- 31:49Speaker 2: with spy equipment and conducting espionage on U.S. soil.
- 31:55Speaker 1: This is another example of the bigger threats, and we've
- 31:58Speaker 1: been talking about this a lot from China. It also,
- 32:01Speaker 1: when you go back in time and you see how
- 32:04Speaker 1: long they were doing this, a lot of this happened
- 32:07Speaker 1: under the Biden administration. And I ask the question, who
- 32:10Speaker 1: is asleep at the wheel and how were they not
- 32:12Speaker 1: doing more? At least now we're starting to find and
- 32:14Speaker 1: arrest different people that are involved in espionage. But it
- 32:17Speaker 1: seems like they could get away with whatever they wanted
- 32:19Speaker 1: to while the Biden administration was in charge.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Look, when Biden was in charge, there was no one
- 32:26Speaker 2: minding the till. Another case that just broke is two men,
- 32:31Speaker 2: two Chinese nationals were arrested, Yuance Chen and Liren Rian Lei.
- 32:36Speaker 2: They were arrested last year, but the news just became public.
- 32:39Speaker 2: They were charged with acting as agents of the Chinese
- 32:43Speaker 2: government without notifying the U.S. Attorney General. They were working
- 32:47Speaker 2: on behalf of China's Foreign Intelligence Service. And according to
- 32:52Speaker 2: the Justice Department, their activities included gathering intelligence about U.S.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Navy bases and American service members and assisting efforts to
- 33:02Speaker 2: recruit people inside the United States military who could potentially
- 33:07Speaker 2: become intelligence assets for Beijing. Prosecutors say Chen was directed
- 33:14Speaker 2: to visit a U.S. naval installation in Washington State in
- 33:17Speaker 2: a Navy recruiting center in San Gabriel, California. At that
- 33:21Speaker 2: recruiting center, Chen allegedly obtained personal information about Navy recruits
- 33:27Speaker 2: and apparently transmitted that information to a Chinese intelligence officer.
- 33:32Speaker 2: According to the criminal complaint, Chinese intelligence said allegedly instructed
- 33:36Speaker 2: Chen on how to engage and recruit future sailors and
- 33:42Speaker 2: how to reduce his chances of getting caught. Federal prosecutors
- 33:47Speaker 2: allege Chen and Lai helped facilitate a $ 10, 000 cash dead
- 33:51Speaker 2: drop in Livermore, California. This particular payment was compensation for
- 33:57Speaker 2: national security information that had previously been provided to Chinese intelligence.
- 34:03Speaker 2: He didn't merely communicate remotely with his handlers. He traveled
- 34:05Speaker 2: to Guangzhou, China, and met with MSS intelligence officers in
- 34:09Speaker 2: April 24, and again in March 25 to discuss compensation
- 34:13Speaker 2: and intelligence assignments. Lai, likewise, entered the United States in
- 34:19Speaker 2: April 25 on a tourist visa, claiming that his trip
- 34:22Speaker 2: was related to his online retail business. But according to prosecutors,
- 34:25Speaker 2: weeks later he traveled from Houston, our hometown, to all
- 34:29Speaker 2: the way to Southern California before returning to Texas. And
- 34:32Speaker 2: he was arrested in Houston. That's going on. And then
- 34:36Speaker 2: there's one more story, because I said there's three. And
- 34:38Speaker 2: I got to say, the third story hits really close
- 34:41Speaker 2: to home. It's an American citizen, Thomas Weir Palkin II,
- 34:48Speaker 2: who was sentenced on September 1st to two years in
- 34:51Speaker 2: federal prison after pleading guilty to acting as an agent
- 34:56Speaker 2: of a foreign government inside the United States. According to
- 34:59Speaker 2: the Justice Department, Palkin worked from 2019 until 2026 at
- 35:04Speaker 2: the direction of people he knew worked for the Chinese government.
- 35:09Speaker 2: One of his handlers was a woman identified as Kathy.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Prosecutors said Kathy gave Palkin assignments. He was directed to
- 35:15Speaker 2: meet potential intelligence assets in America. He provided those potential
- 35:20Speaker 2: assets with devices, including laptops, and cell phones so he
- 35:24Speaker 2: could communicate with his Chinese handlers. And he passed along
- 35:27Speaker 2: assignments telling those individuals one information China wanted. For doing this,
- 35:33Speaker 2: prosecutors say Pocken received at least $ 100, 000, while China also
- 35:38Speaker 2: paid for several of his trips between China and the
- 35:41Speaker 2: United States. Now, I got to say, look, when I
- 35:44Speaker 2: read this story, I'm like, Tom Pocken, Tom Pocken II.
- 35:49Speaker 2: He's a Texan, and there's a reason I paused, because
- 35:51Speaker 2: his father... Tom Pauken Sr., was the chairman of the
- 35:57Speaker 2: Texas Republican Party. Tom Pauken ran for governor in Texas.
- 36:02Speaker 2: You were not living in Texas then, so I don't
- 36:03Speaker 2: know if this name leapt off the page that you banned.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't.
- 36:07Speaker 2: But Tom Pauken ran for governor of Texas in 2014.
- 36:12Speaker 2: He was the chairman of the Republican Party. He was
- 36:14Speaker 2: the chairman of the Workforce Commission. He was the chairman
- 36:18Speaker 2: of the Republican Party from 1994 on. to 1997. So
- 36:21Speaker 2: his son just pleaded guilty and was just sentenced to
- 36:25Speaker 2: prison for being an agent for the Chinese government, paid
- 36:29Speaker 2: more than a hundred grand. That is astonishing and it's
- 36:32Speaker 2: deeply disturbing.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it really is. And this is, again, just how
- 36:36Speaker 1: much they're working overtime to get into the United States
- 36:40Speaker 1: of America and their tentacles into us.
- 36:43Speaker 3: They are.
- 36:43Speaker 2: China is engaged in a thousand-year war against the United States.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Their objective is global dominance. Their objective is military dominance,
- 36:51Speaker 2: economic dominance. And I've spent my entire tenure in the
- 36:54Speaker 2: Senate arguing that we need a comprehensive strategy, much like
- 36:58Speaker 2: we had against the Soviet Union, to win the Cold War,
- 37:02Speaker 2: because they're fighting to win, and far too many Americans,
- 37:05Speaker 2: particularly American politicians, are not even aware this battle's going on.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a great point. Don't forget we do this
- 37:11Speaker 1: show Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as a podcast. If you're
- 37:14Speaker 1: listening on the radio, we love that you found us.
- 37:16Speaker 1: And stay with us all week long. You can download
- 37:19Speaker 1: Verdict with Ted Cruz wherever you get your podcasts. And
- 37:22Speaker 1: we'll see you there on the podcast all week long.
- 37:23Speaker 1: You've been listening to Verdict with Ted Cruz. Have a
- 37:26Speaker 1: great week.
