Speaker 1: Optimism is rooted in youth. That's the story for this
• 0:03
Speaker 1: evening as the Kraken get goals from Ty Nelson, Jagger-Ferkus,
• 0:07
Speaker 1: Logan Morrison, and J.R. Avon to hold off the Calgary
• 0:10
Speaker 1: Flames in a 4-2 victory, improving to 2-0 in preseason play.
• 0:15
Speaker 1: Glad you're hanging out with us. Mike Benton again with
• 0:17
Speaker 1: you back in Network Central. Here to wrap this one
• 0:19
Speaker 1: up as we have our highlights coming up, our final totals,
• 0:22
Speaker 1: and a look ahead. Here for what's next as the
• 0:25
Speaker 1: Kraken again improving to 2-0 in preseason play. And the
• 0:29
Speaker 1: Flames moving to an 0-1 mark to open their side
• 0:34
Speaker 1: for the preseason. To the highlights we go. And just
• 0:37
Speaker 1: like last night in period one, the Kraken looking for
• 0:40
Speaker 1: a familiar source offensively from the blue line in the
• 0:44
Speaker 1: opening minutes of play.
• 0:46
Speaker 2: Seattle clears the zone.
• 0:47
Speaker 3: Gunny Newman sends it ahead. Far side.
• 0:49
Speaker 2: Morrison to the slot.
• 0:50
Speaker 3: Nelson scores! Ty Nelson coming right down Broadway off a
• 0:58
Speaker 3: nifty pass from the left circle and the Seattle Kraken
• 1:03
Speaker 3: on the board early 15.09 to play in the first
• 1:06
  Speaker 3: 1-0 Kraken.
• 1:07
Speaker 2: Well it was a great zone exit from the Seattle
• 1:09
Speaker 2: end of the ice that got that puck up to
• 1:11
Speaker 2: Morrison and he dropped the puck right into the slot
• 1:14
Speaker 2: to Ty Nelson. Ty Nelson's got his second goal in
• 1:17
  Speaker 2: as many nights.
• 1:18
Speaker 1: Ty Nelson getting the Kraken on the board at 451
• 1:21
Speaker 1: of period one, made it one nothing from Logan Morrison
• 1:25
Speaker 1: and Yanni Newman. Those two players also on the board
• 1:28
Speaker 1: once again with points in back to back games. And
• 1:32
Speaker 1: for Ty Nelson, certainly turning plenty of heads with his
• 1:35
Speaker 1: shot and an opportunistic type of play as well as
• 1:38
Speaker 1: he has goals in back to back preseason games to
• 1:42
Speaker 1: open the preseason slate. And that made it.
• 1:44
  Speaker 2: 1-0.
• 1:45
Speaker 1: Then late, in period one, the Kraken also going right
• 1:48
Speaker 1: back toward their prospect pool, looking to extend the lead.
• 1:52
Speaker 3: Tyson jugged off to the half wall.
• 1:54
Speaker 2: Now Avon in the slot, picked up.
• 1:56
Speaker 3: Ferkus scores! Jagger Ferkus will sneak that up under the crossbar.
• 2:04
Speaker 3: That's a power play goal for Seattle. 10-37 to play
• 2:08
Speaker 3: in the first 2-0 Kraken.
• 2:10
Speaker 2: A bit of a broken play there that came off
• 2:12
Speaker 2: the half wall and Ferkus was parked on the far
• 2:15
Speaker 2: side of the slot. He gets a puck right onto
• 2:17
Speaker 2: his tape. It's a one-timer. Glove side on Devin Cooley.
• 2:21
Speaker 2: Cracking her up 2-0.
• 2:23
Speaker 1: Power play certainly churning on through a production in the
• 2:26
Speaker 1: first couple of games. That was the third power play
• 2:28
Speaker 1: goal on the Kraken side in their second preseason game.
• 2:32
Speaker 1: Jagger Ferkus on the board at 923 of period one. J.R.
• 2:38
Speaker 1: Avon just sneaking a pass through the lane in time
• 2:41
Speaker 1: and Ferkus going high over the glove on Devin Cooley.
• 2:44
Speaker 1: Avon and Oscar Fisker-Mulgaard had the assist on the play,
• 2:48
Speaker 1: and the Kraken holding a 2-0 lead in period one,
• 2:52
Speaker 1: looking pretty comfortable, just like 24 hours ago against the
• 2:56
Speaker 1: Vancouver Canucks. But Calgary eventually found their way on the board.
• 3:00
  Speaker 1: Idar Sudiev made a 2-1 game in a 13-0-1 of
• 3:04
Speaker 1: period one. Samuel Honzek with the assist on the play
• 3:07
Speaker 1: as the Flames capitalized off a Kraken giveaway, and Sudiev
• 3:11
Speaker 1: beating Philip Grubauer in between the circles, but no more
• 3:15
Speaker 1: offense coming for that opening set of 20 minutes with
• 3:18
Speaker 1: a Kraken outshot by Calgary 9-7 in the first period,
• 3:22
Speaker 1: but holding a one-goal lead. Waters would calm in the
• 3:26
Speaker 1: second period, no scoring between the two teams. A Kraken
• 3:30
Speaker 1: outshot the Flames 8-7, enough for Philip Grubauer to take
• 3:34
Speaker 1: a seat after 40 minutes of play as he turned
• 3:37
Speaker 1: in 15 saves on 16 shots, eventually replacing him, Nike Koko,
• 3:42
Speaker 1: to begin period three. But what do the Flames have
• 3:47
Speaker 1: in store in their look here to tie things up?
• 3:50
Speaker 3: Here's Idar Sunyav shoots. He scores. Idar Sunyav, left circle,
• 4:00
Speaker 3: able to go upstairs over the shoulder of Kike Koko.
• 4:05
Speaker 3: The Calgary Flames tie the game 2-2, 934 left in
• 4:08
  Speaker 3: the third.
• 4:11
Speaker 1: The sole source of offense for Calgary, Idar Suniev, not
• 4:15
Speaker 1: just once but twice on the board in the Flames
• 4:18
Speaker 1: preseason opener. That goal tied things up to a 10-26
• 4:21
Speaker 1: of period three, beating Nke Koko from the outside. Jones
• 4:26
Speaker 1: and Wiebe had the assist on the play, and it
• 4:29
Speaker 1: felt like anyone's game at that point. But the Kraken
• 4:32
Speaker 1: again back to the power play and again going right
• 4:36
Speaker 1: back to youth with their aim here to take the
• 4:39
  Speaker 1: lead once again.
• 4:40
Speaker 3: Tyson Jugnauth, right side shot, through traffic, scores! Tyson Jugnauth,
• 4:48
Speaker 3: a point from the line, and it'll be right in,
• 4:52
Speaker 3: tipped on goal, and in by Logan Morrison. The Kraken
• 4:56
Speaker 3: back on top by a 3-2 score, a power play goal.
• 5:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, Morrison parked in front of the net on top
• 5:02
Speaker 2: of that blue paint, presents his stick, Jugnauth has time,
• 5:05
Speaker 2: puts a nice floater on net, Morrison with the deflection
• 5:08
Speaker 2: and the crack and half the lead back 3-2.
• 5:10
Speaker 1: Fourth power play goal for the Kraken in two preseason games.
• 5:14
Speaker 1: They are finding plenty of production on special teams as
• 5:18
Speaker 1: Logan Morrison got his second goal in as many nights
• 5:21
Speaker 1: for preseason play. Tyson Jugnaud, J.R. Avon had the assist
• 5:26
Speaker 1: at 11.59. The shot by Jugnaud just getting through traffic
• 5:30
Speaker 1: and enough off of Morrison's stick where the Firebirds connection
• 5:34
Speaker 1: put the heat on the flames for the 3-2 Kraken lead.
• 5:37
Speaker 1: getting into the dying minutes of period three. But the Kraken, again,
• 5:41
Speaker 1: having to survive special teams from the other side of things.
• 5:45
Speaker 1: The Flames go to the power play, but the Kraken
• 5:48
Speaker 1: looking to put this one to bed.
• 5:49
  Speaker 2: Here's Zane Porek.
• 5:50
Speaker 3: Left side, pulled the trigger, left the puck in the faceoff.
• 5:54
  Speaker 2: J.R.
• 5:54
Speaker 3: Athon walks in, empty net, he scores! J.R. Avon caps
• 6:02
Speaker 3: off a three-point night, a goal, and two assists, and
• 6:06
Speaker 3: the Seattle Kraken put this one away, 4-2, 15.3 left
• 6:12
  Speaker 3: in regulation.
• 6:13
Speaker 2: Well, a big part of closing out a game, closing
• 6:15
Speaker 2: out the third period, is your goaltender, and Coco coming
• 6:17
Speaker 2: up with a big save there that Avon found the
• 6:20
Speaker 2: rebound on, got it cleared through the neutral zone, and
• 6:22
Speaker 2: made a nice move just before the blue line to
• 6:25
Speaker 2: find that open net at the far end, and Kraken
• 6:27
Speaker 2: are up two again, 4-2.
• 6:29
Speaker 1: Coachella Valley seeing plenty of that kind of production from
• 6:32
Speaker 1: last year. J.R. Avon capping a three-point night with an
• 6:35
Speaker 1: empty net goal, also shorthanded at 19-44 after the Carson-Raycoff
• 6:40
Speaker 1: tripping penalty at 18-41. That didn't matter. Avon putting on
• 6:45
Speaker 1: the finishing touches, and the Kraken dows the flames tonight
• 6:48
Speaker 1: in a 4-2 victory, improving defense. to 2-0 in preseason play.
• 6:53
Speaker 1: Your final shots on net in favor of Calgary, 24-23,
• 6:58
Speaker 1: giving Nikkei Coco the win in net. All he had
• 7:01
Speaker 1: to do was make seven saves out of eight. Philip
• 7:03
Speaker 1: Grubauer to no, pretty solid in the opening 40 minutes
• 7:07
Speaker 1: of this preseason game. 15 saves on 16 shots that
• 7:11
Speaker 1: he saw. Devin Cooley went all the way as scheduled.

Speaker 1: hits in this game. Zane Parekh earned the third star honors.
