- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Darren. All right, well it's September
- 0:09Speaker 1: twenty first. I'm Alex Garrett, and uh, you know, it's
- 0:14Speaker 1: a pretty incredible anniversary. Twenty three years later. You know,
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Mets hosted the Braves for the first baseball game
- 0:22Speaker 1: in New York City since the September eleventh attacks. And
- 0:27Speaker 1: sure enough, Mike Piazza had this moment twenty three years ago. Tonight,
- 0:33Speaker 1: Bopez wants it away and a chippy to left tenner
- 0:36Speaker 1: Andrew Chance on the lot, this one has a chance.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Tell them Mike Piazza and the next league cree to two.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And that was yes, how we rose on the call.
- 0:50Speaker 1: When he was on the TV side of things on
- 0:54Speaker 1: September twenty first, two thousand and one with Fox Sports
- 0:57Speaker 1: New York. I've played you what Derek Jeter said about
- 0:59Speaker 1: the after math of nine to eleven and what the
- 1:01Speaker 1: role the Yankees played. But this homer by Piazza certainly
- 1:06Speaker 1: took the cake as well. And I'm putting this on
- 1:09Speaker 1: the news feature because it is a news story. The
- 1:11Speaker 1: twenty three years ago, Mike Piazza hit an incredible emotional
- 1:17Speaker 1: home run against the Braves, and we may never forget
- 1:21Speaker 1: that moment either, as it really uplifted the city in
- 1:26Speaker 1: its darkest days following nine to eleven. Now, in a
- 1:32Speaker 1: commitment to news, I do want to say that there's
- 1:35Speaker 1: an interesting new poll out with Harris and Trump on
- 1:39Speaker 1: this day, September twenty first, let me tell you about it.
- 1:43Speaker 1: The New York Post reported that polling shows Virginia could
- 1:46Speaker 1: be a swing state in twenty twenty four. That's right,
- 1:49Speaker 1: a deadlock between both Trump and Harris. Harris had the
- 1:55Speaker 1: support of forty seven percent of old dominion voters compared
- 1:59Speaker 1: to Trump's forty six percent. According to University of Mary
- 2:04Speaker 1: Washington in Virginia and their state is actually doing early
- 2:09Speaker 1: voting if you could believe that it's Optember twenty first
- 2:13Speaker 1: and we're talking about early voting. Harris in this poll
- 2:19Speaker 1: led slightly forty eight to forty six. And this also
- 2:22Speaker 1: included a four percent third party candidate voting polling as well,
- 2:30Speaker 1: and UMW political scientist Stephen J. Farnes says this new
- 2:34Speaker 1: survey suggests Virginia could be getting a much closer look
- 2:37Speaker 1: from both presidential campaigns and may deserve to be treated
- 2:41Speaker 1: as a swing state once again this year and of course,
- 2:46Speaker 1: they thought Virginia was in the bag. The Post rights
- 2:51Speaker 1: and Biden actually won the state by ten points in
- 2:55Speaker 1: twenty twenty, while Clinton took the state in twenty sixteen.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Obama also won Virginia in twenty twelve and oh eight.
- 3:03Speaker 1: The latest polling confirms other surveys that Virginia has become
- 3:07Speaker 1: a nail bier as the race enters the home stretch.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Glenn Youngkin, of course, was the Red Wave leader back
- 3:16Speaker 1: in twenty twenty one when he got elected. And could
- 3:21Speaker 1: that lead to a presidential vote for President Trump in
- 3:23Speaker 1: this election three years later. We'll have to see, but
- 3:26Speaker 1: Virginia is in play. Polling in certain areas are saying
- 3:30Speaker 1: that they're deadlocked. I think that's a lot of America's
- 3:35Speaker 1: feelings right now. They don't know what to do. So
- 3:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna just say this. Don't go to the polls early.
- 3:44Speaker 1: If you're not sure. Go to the polls on November fifth,
- 3:50Speaker 1: election day, so that you can get the full picture.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Don't be pushed into this early voting bull crap, because
- 3:58Speaker 1: that's what it is. Be yourself. Vote who you want
- 4:03Speaker 1: to vote, but do it after you found out everything.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Don't just rush to the polls because early voting is open.
- 4:09Speaker 1: That's not the way elections should be done in this country.
- 4:14Speaker 1: They rush you to the polls and probably rush you
- 4:17Speaker 1: to vote for Kamala Harris with a Democrat. They don't
- 4:19Speaker 1: really rush you to vote Republican ever, So don't rush,
- 4:23Speaker 1: take your time, really make a educated and by listening
- 4:27Speaker 1: to both views too, but really educated vote instead of
- 4:34Speaker 1: this rushing early voting get to the polls now nonsense.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And let's not forget that illegals are voting too. I mean,
- 4:44Speaker 1: this is not a conspiracy. There is literally a story
- 4:46Speaker 1: today where in Iowa, Attorney General Brenna Byrd announces she
- 4:54Speaker 1: will be prosecuting a non citizen who was arrested in
- 4:57Speaker 1: charge with allegedly registered to vote and illegally voting. So
- 5:05Speaker 1: that being said, we have to be aware that we
- 5:12Speaker 1: have election integrity everywhere, and I don't think early voting
- 5:19Speaker 1: brings us that integrity. I'm just gonna say that here
- 5:23Speaker 1: on the podcast. You could drop my rating down to
- 5:26Speaker 1: two stars. I don't care. We need election integrity and
- 5:30Speaker 1: early voting. On September twenty first, for what now polls
- 5:34Speaker 1: are saying is a swing state. That's a little much.
- 5:38Speaker 1: That is a little much in Virginia. So if you
- 5:42Speaker 1: want to and if you're a Virginian today and you
- 5:45Speaker 1: see AH voting early, you know they get the rock
- 5:48Speaker 1: the vote out and get out the vote type of stuff.
- 5:51Speaker 1: If you see that but you're not ready to vote,
- 5:53Speaker 1: then don't vote. Don't be pressured to early vote. That's
- 5:58Speaker 1: not a good way to catch your vote. It is
- 6:00Speaker 1: a civic duty, it was a it is a privilege,
- 6:03Speaker 1: it is an honor to have a say in our
- 6:05Speaker 1: presidential elections. So don't just rush to it because they
- 6:09Speaker 1: say early voting starts today, Say you know, I'm gonna
- 6:13Speaker 1: give this some time. I have till November fifth. Let
- 6:17Speaker 1: me give this some time, because clearly it looks like
- 6:21Speaker 1: and sounds like the Harris Trump campaigns have maybe an
- 6:25Speaker 1: even chance at Virginia, which I guess might be a
- 6:31Speaker 1: first in a long time if they've been going blue
- 6:35Speaker 1: a lot of these years. So if it's a swing state,
- 6:41Speaker 1: if it's a deadlock state, then don't rush out to vote.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Let them come to your state and talk to you Virginians.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Let them talk to you face to face in Virginia
- 6:54Speaker 1: before you go out and rush and make a vote
- 6:56Speaker 1: before the early vote. As early voting gets underway, and
- 7:00Speaker 1: I presume that campaigns might make another stop there before election,
- 7:03Speaker 1: Y wouldn't you say at least they should with this
- 7:06Speaker 1: polling coming out specifically, So that's the polling up date.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Virginia is virtually deadlocked, typically blue, but it went read
- 7:15Speaker 1: for Glenn Youngkin could go red for Trump in November.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I don't know yet, but please, Virginians, I know the
- 7:22Speaker 1: polls are open, don't go early if you're not ready.
- 7:28Speaker 1: And that will go for any state who has early voting,
- 7:31Speaker 1: because early voting might mean the easiest choice, make the
- 7:35Speaker 1: harder choice. Go with your conscience, not the advertisements to
- 7:43Speaker 1: early vote today. We have till November fifth. Let's pump
- 7:48Speaker 1: the brakes on any polling results, on any voting now,
- 7:57Speaker 1: because early voting is not really election integrity. And maybe
- 8:05Speaker 1: you disagree, maybe you agree, Alex GWYC dot com. But
- 8:09Speaker 1: you know what's even more wilder than early voting. How
- 8:11Speaker 1: about this? We have sports betting, horse race betting, but
- 8:24Speaker 1: when it comes to elections, let's go gambling. Let's go gambling.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Did you hear about this? Thursday of this week, the
- 8:34Speaker 1: commodity Futures Trading Commission sought to convince a panel of
- 8:41Speaker 1: judges to consider its emergency motion to stay at district's
- 8:45Speaker 1: previously previous ruling against election betting. There's this predictive market
- 8:59Speaker 1: and I've never really done out with any of this
- 9:01Speaker 1: predictive market agent call she who is I kid you
- 9:11Speaker 1: not opening up to allow users to bet on the
- 9:15Speaker 1: outcome of future events, including on the upcoming US elections
- 9:23Speaker 1: and congressional elections in November. Rob Schwartz, the General Council
- 9:30Speaker 1: of the CFTs SEE said at the hearing this week.
- 9:36Speaker 1: The CFTC and ky She had been in a lawsuit
- 9:38Speaker 1: since late last year after the agency that call she
- 9:43Speaker 1: could not offer contracts related to congressional control contracts. Then
- 9:48Speaker 1: last week, a judge for the US Extra Court for
- 9:51Speaker 1: the District of Columbia ruled that the CFTC was actually
- 9:56Speaker 1: exceeding his authority when it pushed back against the predictive
- 9:59Speaker 1: market cal she and I believe this allowed actual bets
- 10:06Speaker 1: to go on for the election. According to the New
- 10:11Speaker 1: York Times and other places, I mean I took a
- 10:14Speaker 1: screenshot of this. Here's the headline in the New York
- 10:16Speaker 1: Post and the New York Times. Should betting on US
- 10:18Speaker 1: elections be legal? The question is before the courts, Sarah
- 10:23Speaker 1: Kessler says in her article this past week, as pundits
- 10:28Speaker 1: were sharing sometimes wildly different takes on Kamala Harris and
- 10:32Speaker 1: Donald Trump's debate, traders were putting money on which candidate
- 10:38Speaker 1: would win the election on both predicted and polymarket two
- 10:46Speaker 1: prediction markets. The odds were favoring Harris. But then get this.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Within hours of the US District Court judge giving Calls
- 10:56Speaker 1: the greenlight to offer election contracts, the company had posted
- 11:01Speaker 1: one CEO called the first trade on the made on
- 11:05Speaker 1: regulated election markets in nearly a century. So right now
- 11:10Speaker 1: there is a gambling outlet overseas, by the way, that
- 11:16Speaker 1: was briefly allowed to take bets from Americans on November's elections.
- 11:22Speaker 1: This does not help election integrity either. So we've gone
- 11:25Speaker 1: from electioneering too. Let's go gambling. That's right, Let's go gambling.
- 11:31Speaker 1: And I really hope the CEFTC gets this together, because
- 11:35Speaker 1: while it's blocked now, Kessler wrights, a federal appeals court
- 11:40Speaker 1: has since emporarily blocked the bets, but the US District
- 11:44Speaker 1: Court's decision has essentially opened the door for legal gambling
- 11:49Speaker 1: on politics. That will. I have my feelings about players
- 11:56Speaker 1: betting on other sports because it could lead to their
- 11:58Speaker 1: own sports. But if you will allow betting in elections
- 12:04Speaker 1: and allow the presidential election to be bet on, They're
- 12:08Speaker 1: not just going to be your average finance bros betting
- 12:10Speaker 1: on this. There will be campaign advisors, there will be
- 12:16Speaker 1: maybe even poll workers. There will be people who are
- 12:20Speaker 1: influencing every step of the way during this election cycle.
- 12:25Speaker 1: No matter when, if this ever starts, there'll be people
- 12:30Speaker 1: influencing this election cycle every four years who might also
- 12:35Speaker 1: want to put a bet in. And you don't think
- 12:38Speaker 1: as much as their bias against Trump. Now that down
- 12:41Speaker 1: the road, a poll worker who might be, you know,
- 12:45Speaker 1: you're nice person, but then all of a sudden they're
- 12:48Speaker 1: hiding votes because they bet on deserted elect candidate to win.
- 12:53Speaker 1: What is this district judge doing even allowing for a
- 12:59Speaker 1: second a bet to be made on our election. It
- 13:03Speaker 1: opens the floodgates. It opens the floodgates for KOLs and
- 13:11Speaker 1: other markets to say, hey, you know what, come on,
- 13:13Speaker 1: gamble on the election. You know, I always feel like
- 13:20Speaker 1: boxers were killed by the mob after they lost. They
- 13:25Speaker 1: didn't throw the match, or they lost or they won,
- 13:30Speaker 1: they were killed for that or maybe g regiously harmed,
- 13:35Speaker 1: but they definitely had stuff done to them if they
- 13:38Speaker 1: did not go the gambler's way. And the threats on
- 13:45Speaker 1: even poll workers to vote to do things if this
- 13:49Speaker 1: comes about, so let's not allow gambling. It's as bad
- 13:55Speaker 1: as electioneering. Now, let's not allow gambling now in a
- 14:00Speaker 1: time where election integrity is at a fever pitch of doubt,
- 14:14Speaker 1: gambling opening the door to gambling would you lead to
- 14:18Speaker 1: even more, wouldn't it. So let's not go gambling with
- 14:22Speaker 1: our elections. Because these people who are running are trying
- 14:27Speaker 1: to run to run the country. We have enough outside
- 14:31Speaker 1: influences who you know, might try and sway certain things,
- 14:37Speaker 1: might be hacking into campaigns like Iran's doing. We don't
- 14:40Speaker 1: need this either, and we don't need poll workers to
- 14:47Speaker 1: be further influenced or other campaign officials to be further influenced,
- 14:52Speaker 1: and election officials to be further influenced to swing the
- 14:55Speaker 1: election a certain way. So shame on the Judge cob
- 15:04Speaker 1: for opening this door for even one day where call
- 15:07Speaker 1: she would start opening up election bids if we don't
- 15:13Speaker 1: like electioneering, then we sure as hell shouldn't like gambling
- 15:20Speaker 1: and the idea of gambling on this. What do you
- 15:23Speaker 1: guys think, alex g NYC one is my Instagram in
- 15:27Speaker 1: ex Alex at alex gnyc dot com. Should we start
- 15:30Speaker 1: gambling on our elections? It's bad enough when pro sports
- 15:36Speaker 1: players are betting on their own sports. Now let's not
- 15:40Speaker 1: let the election cycle be determined by a gambling circuit
- 15:46Speaker 1: because that would really tarnish election integrity. That's my one
- 15:51Speaker 1: laup on News Today. Talk to you soon on the
- 15:54Speaker 1: Alex Kurtt podcast. One leg Up Network
