- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: So years ago, in a time far far away, our
- 0:10Speaker 2: guest today and I were on the same season of
- 0:13Speaker 2: The Bachelor. Amanda Stanton, thank you so much for coming
- 0:16Speaker 2: on Almost Famous.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Hi, thanks for having me.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It's really good to catch up with you. I'm really
- 0:22Speaker 2: excited for you. You are a great follow on social media,
- 0:27Speaker 2: so I feel like, even though you and I maybe
- 0:29Speaker 2: haven't spoken, it's probably been three years, I keep up
- 0:35Speaker 2: with your life and so I feel like I know
- 0:36Speaker 2: what's going on. But I can't wait to be here
- 0:38Speaker 2: with you today to really get the details of what's
- 0:40Speaker 2: happening in the world of Amanda.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Yeah. I know. Last time I came on the podcast,
- 0:45Speaker 3: actually you weren't in town, so I was just talking
- 0:48Speaker 3: to ash So it's been a while.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Well, okay, obviously there's some very obvious big announcements in
- 0:54Speaker 2: your life. You recently just had a baby. Can you
- 0:59Speaker 2: walk us through kind of what this experience was like
- 1:05Speaker 2: where you're at now, just kind of give us a
- 1:07Speaker 2: little insight into what you know, what exists in your
- 1:09Speaker 2: world today.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Yeah. So it's funny actually because it's I get married
- 1:16Speaker 3: in twenty twenty two, and we originally were like, let's
- 1:20Speaker 3: wait until like our one year anniversary and then start trying.
- 1:24Speaker 3: But then I started just I'm a very like anxious person.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I always like think of a million different scenarios in
- 1:29Speaker 3: my head. So I was like, maybe we should start
- 1:31Speaker 3: trying a little sooner, just because you don't know how
- 1:32Speaker 3: long it's going to take. So it ended up happening
- 1:35Speaker 3: a little bit sooner. But I had a really good,
- 1:39Speaker 3: easy pregnancy. Honestly felt very long, but other than that,
- 1:43Speaker 3: it was good. And then we had Rosie last month.
- 1:47Speaker 3: She's a month old now, which is crazy. I don't
- 1:50Speaker 3: know how it's going by so fast.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know necessarily how to ask this question.
- 1:55Speaker 2: But obviously when you and I met, you had a
- 1:57Speaker 2: little family unit, Like you had a little family, and
- 2:00Speaker 2: you were a great mom, Your daughters had big personalities.
- 2:03Speaker 2: You guys were like best friends.
- 2:07Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:07Speaker 2: You and I were talking a second ago about like
- 2:10Speaker 2: Jess and I's you know, plan for a future family.
- 2:12Speaker 2: And one of my biggest concerns is I've gotten really
- 2:14Speaker 2: used to at thirty four years old, like just being me,
- 2:18Speaker 2: like it's me, you know, And now I'm getting used
- 2:20Speaker 2: to being me and Jess, and you know what that
- 2:23Speaker 2: looks like. It's it brings me like a lot of
- 2:26Speaker 2: anxiety to think of what it now looks like to
- 2:28Speaker 2: bring in a kid to that scenario. So I guess
- 2:31Speaker 2: my question for you is, when we first met, you
- 2:33Speaker 2: had this family unit. You guys had gotten really good
- 2:35Speaker 2: together and really used to being together. And now that
- 2:38Speaker 2: unit has expanded, what has that been like.
- 2:42Speaker 3: It's actually funny that you say that, because I feel like,
- 2:45Speaker 3: I mean, you know, like back years ago, like when
- 2:48Speaker 3: I was on the show, I got a lot of
- 2:50Speaker 3: like judgment for being like single mom on the show,
- 2:53Speaker 3: young mom whatever. And I feel like even this time
- 2:55Speaker 3: when I was pregnant, people are like, are you It's
- 2:57Speaker 3: going to be so much easier for you this time
- 2:59Speaker 3: now that you're like married and you have help and
- 3:01Speaker 3: you're older. And it's so funny because and not to
- 3:04Speaker 3: scare you, it's actually it's very easy this time. I
- 3:07Speaker 3: feel like I'm a lot more patient and stuff. But
- 3:09Speaker 3: when you're younger, like it is so easy because I
- 3:12Speaker 3: mean I was twenty one, so I didn't have that,
- 3:14Speaker 3: like I'm so used to living like my whole adult
- 3:16Speaker 3: life only having tory about myself, like I had kids
- 3:19Speaker 3: like from so early on, so it was all I
- 3:21Speaker 3: knew and it was really easy. But now with the girls,
- 3:25Speaker 3: I mean I was nervous mostly about like starting over
- 3:28Speaker 3: because of the age gap. So Charlie just turned ten
- 3:31Speaker 3: and kids will be twelve in April, and it doesn't
- 3:34Speaker 3: really feel like I'm starting over. It actually feels easier
- 3:37Speaker 3: because before I did two under two and now I
- 3:39Speaker 3: just have like one baby, which feels like super easy
- 3:43Speaker 3: to me. But that was my biggest fear, and it's
- 3:47Speaker 3: it hasn't happened yet. It's pretty easy so far.
- 3:49Speaker 2: We were ecstatic here with the birth of Rosie. I mean,
- 3:53Speaker 2: it's it's such a cool thing to witness and it's
- 3:55Speaker 2: really cool for you know, for me to witness and
- 3:59Speaker 2: talk about with that actually just seeing everybody's lives move
- 4:04Speaker 2: in a direction that it was supposed to, you know that,
- 4:06Speaker 2: like you know, see all this come full cycle, and
- 4:10Speaker 2: so you know, speaking of full cycle, obviously now there
- 4:14Speaker 2: is a ten year age gap and you have a
- 4:18Speaker 2: ten and twelve year old. What have they been like
- 4:20Speaker 2: with Rosie? Like has it been Are they making it
- 4:23Speaker 2: easier on you?
- 4:25Speaker 3: Yeah, they're obsessed with her. I feel like they think
- 4:28Speaker 3: she's like their little baby doll. They always want to
- 4:30Speaker 3: take care of her. They want to hold her all
- 4:31Speaker 3: the time, beat her, change her diapers. And it's so
- 4:34Speaker 3: funny because when I was pregnant too, people were like, Oh,
- 4:36Speaker 3: they're going to be like such a big help, and
- 4:38Speaker 3: I wasn't really sure if they would be a help
- 4:41Speaker 3: or if they'd be kind of like uninterested in a
- 4:43Speaker 3: baby because they're at the age where they have friends
- 4:44Speaker 3: and sports and stuff, but they're obsessed. They've actually been
- 4:48Speaker 3: such a big help, which has been nice.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I feel like it has to be one of the
- 4:53Speaker 2: coolest things as a parent to see that, like to
- 4:57Speaker 2: know that you cared for the two of them, that
- 4:59Speaker 2: you're still caring for the two of them, but now
- 5:01Speaker 2: to see them, you know, kind of use the skills
- 5:05Speaker 2: that you showed them by being a mother to care for,
- 5:08Speaker 2: you know, their new sister.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Right. No, it's so sweet. I cry at least at
- 5:13Speaker 3: least twice a day, just like watching him. It's the
- 5:15Speaker 3: sweetest thing.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Well, let's talk about Michael for a second. Obviously, you
- 5:21Speaker 2: guys did get married in twenty twenty two. Yes, you know,
- 5:25Speaker 2: social media tells a piece of the story. It looked
- 5:28Speaker 2: like a beautiful dating relationship into a wonderful wedding and
- 5:33Speaker 2: a terrific marriage. What has it been like, you know,
- 5:36Speaker 2: for you to have you know now Michael with like
- 5:40Speaker 2: the three of you, you know, I guess the four
- 5:42Speaker 2: of you now? Like, how has it been helpful? Has
- 5:44Speaker 2: it been weird? At times? How is he as a dad?
- 5:48Speaker 3: He's he's so good. Well, I kind of, you know,
- 5:49Speaker 3: I got to see him kind of as a dad
- 5:51Speaker 3: beforehand with kNs in chart, but it's different at the
- 5:53Speaker 3: ages they're at than like with the baby. But he's
- 5:56Speaker 3: so good, he's so helpful, he's like the on top
- 6:00Speaker 3: of everything. He's actually he's watching her in the office
- 6:03Speaker 3: right now. But he's such a good dad. And he's
- 6:05Speaker 3: so great with the kids, the older kids.
- 6:08Speaker 2: So yeah, he's good's it's really it's really special for
- 6:14Speaker 2: me to see you meet a guy like him. I mean,
- 6:16Speaker 2: I don't know HI might have met him, but he
- 6:18Speaker 2: seems like a terrific, you know, guy who loves obviously
- 6:21Speaker 2: you and the family so much. Uh have you has
- 6:27Speaker 2: that changed? I guess experiencing that love, Like has that
- 6:29Speaker 2: changed you at all.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Yeah. I Mean it's funny too, because it's one of
- 6:34Speaker 3: those things like how I felt when we started dating
- 6:38Speaker 3: was kind of like I looked back at all these
- 6:40Speaker 3: other things that I had been like looking for before,
- 6:42Speaker 3: and I was like, oh, like this is how it's
- 6:44Speaker 3: supposed to be. But even like with the kids. One
- 6:47Speaker 3: thing that I thought was like really different was I
- 6:49Speaker 3: feel like back in my single mom days when I
- 6:52Speaker 3: was dating, I'd always look for someone who's like really like,
- 6:56Speaker 3: you know, fun with the kids and like, I don't know,
- 6:59Speaker 3: just good with the kids, like in a different way.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Whereas like Michael came along and like he's a little
- 7:04Speaker 3: more like strict and he has like these rules, and
- 7:06Speaker 3: I feel like it's been so good. I'm like I
- 7:08Speaker 3: was never even looking for that, which is like something
- 7:10Speaker 3: that's so important now. So he's definitely changed, you know,
- 7:14Speaker 3: kind of how I view things.
- 7:16Speaker 2: How does that like, how does that work?
- 7:18Speaker 3: Like?
- 7:18Speaker 2: How do you We just spoke with Braiden Christina, who
- 7:21Speaker 2: recently got engaged at the Golden Wedding. Christina, you know,
- 7:26Speaker 2: has a daughter Braiden has now moved into that has
- 7:29Speaker 2: now moved into the house. They were talking a little
- 7:32Speaker 2: bit about like assimilating as a unit, and what does
- 7:36Speaker 2: a co parenting look like? Yeah, kind of how how
- 7:39Speaker 2: did that look for you as you did kind of
- 7:42Speaker 2: bring in somebody that maybe wasn't what you thought you
- 7:44Speaker 2: were looking for, who maybe did want to put down
- 7:46Speaker 2: some like boundaries that you'd never you know, thought of
- 7:50Speaker 2: and had different expectations.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I mean, it kind of was something that happened gradually.
- 7:56Speaker 3: I feel like, it's not something like you can start
- 7:59Speaker 3: dating someone and make it come in and like have
- 8:00Speaker 3: all these rules and start like disciplining your kids or something.
- 8:03Speaker 3: It's kind of something that just like evolved naturally over time.
- 8:07Speaker 3: But it's been it's been good. I mean I feel
- 8:09Speaker 3: like when he first moved in, obviously we took things
- 8:12Speaker 3: a little bit slower. We actually he didn't move in
- 8:14Speaker 3: actually until after we were engaged. But now it's it's actually
- 8:19Speaker 3: been so helpful. Like there's so many little things like
- 8:21Speaker 3: that he's stricter about that didn't even realize we're like
- 8:24Speaker 3: so chaotic in my life like how I used to parent.
- 8:28Speaker 3: So it's been nice and it's been good for the
- 8:30Speaker 3: kids too.
- 8:31Speaker 2: And it's I mean, you guys are living where.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Now, we're still in Orange County.
- 8:36Speaker 2: You're in Orange County, Okay. So you've you've got your
- 8:38Speaker 2: place together, the family set up in Orange County. The
- 8:41Speaker 2: connections are still there. Your nowork is still is that
- 8:43Speaker 2: where he's from?
- 8:45Speaker 3: He actually he was born and raised in New York, Okay,
- 8:48Speaker 3: and then he moved out. He was in LA for
- 8:50Speaker 3: a long time for like thirteen years, and then his
- 8:54Speaker 3: family moved to LA. And then now we're in Orange.
- 8:56Speaker 2: County and so you know your family and lives where
- 9:01Speaker 2: in Orange Conie. Also, so you have everybody around. Has
- 9:06Speaker 2: that been awesome?
- 9:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the best. I always say, like I would
- 9:09Speaker 3: never be able to move just because I couldn't leave
- 9:12Speaker 3: my parents and my sister. And it's great.
- 9:15Speaker 2: They come over and help, like they want to be
- 9:18Speaker 2: around the girls, they want to come over and hang out. Still.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, I see my family like multiple times
- 9:25Speaker 3: a week. I talk to my mom like fifteen times
- 9:28Speaker 3: a day. Like it's slightly slightly crazy.
- 9:31Speaker 2: That's okay. We both really appreciate having, you know, adult
- 9:38Speaker 2: children that are very much still in contact with parents.
- 9:42Speaker 2: We find that here at almost Famos podcast very healthy. Yeah,
- 9:46Speaker 2: it makes a lot more fun. I think for me,
- 9:49Speaker 2: that's one thing I'm worried about. Right. I live in Denver,
- 9:51Speaker 2: my parents live in Indiana, her parents live in Nashville.
- 9:53Speaker 2: We're so far away, so you know, that's always something
- 9:56Speaker 2: on the back of our minds too, of getting that
- 9:58Speaker 2: support from you know, the grandparents.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Right, I'm sure they they'll come visit all the time.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I mean I went through a short period of time
- 10:07Speaker 3: right and live close to my parents. My parents moved
- 10:08Speaker 3: to Saint Louis for like five or six years when
- 10:11Speaker 3: Charlie was born. So I've like had it both ways,
- 10:14Speaker 3: you know, being ore and my mom used to come
- 10:16Speaker 3: visit and stay with me for like weeks at a time.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's going to be a wild ride. As I
- 10:22Speaker 2: said earlier, it's really cool to see everybody, you know,
- 10:25Speaker 2: building these families and moving into a direction that it
- 10:28Speaker 2: was always meant to be. Now, we did have some
- 10:30Speaker 2: listeners write in some questions, and really the biggest question
- 10:34Speaker 2: for you on all of this was is Rosie related
- 10:37Speaker 2: to The Bachelor? Like, is the name Rosie? Did the
- 10:40Speaker 2: inspiration of it come from the show?
- 10:43Speaker 3: Not at all? And it's so funny because I didn't
- 10:45Speaker 3: even think of it until we posted her name, and
- 10:49Speaker 3: then people were like, oh, like it's the Bachelor, And
- 10:51Speaker 3: I was like, that's so funny, because I think had
- 10:55Speaker 3: I thought of that, maybe it would have been something
- 10:56Speaker 3: where I was like, maybe we shouldn't name or this.
- 10:58Speaker 3: But I feel like, I mean, I was on it
- 11:00Speaker 3: so long ago I almost like forget, so it just
- 11:02Speaker 3: wasn't even something that crossed my mind. But no, it's not.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Where did the inspiration come from?
- 11:09Speaker 4: Then?
- 11:10Speaker 3: Be honestly, just like the name and with Kinsley, Charlie
- 11:14Speaker 3: and now Rosie, like there's really no meaning behind any
- 11:16Speaker 3: of the names.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Just picked him, just liked him.
- 11:30Speaker 2: How does that process work? Like how do you pick
- 11:32Speaker 2: a name? Do you just sit down with Michael and
- 11:34Speaker 2: be like, hey, what do you like? What do I like?
- 11:38Speaker 3: Yeah, like I started, you can look online. They have
- 11:41Speaker 3: like you know, just like lists of like thousands of names,
- 11:44Speaker 3: and we would just go through them and like find
- 11:46Speaker 3: one that we like and be like, oh, do you
- 11:47Speaker 3: like this one? And for the most part we actually
- 11:49Speaker 3: kind of had the same taste with names. But we
- 11:52Speaker 3: changed Rosie's name probably three times when I was pregnant,
- 11:55Speaker 3: Like we were fully calling her a different name and
- 11:58Speaker 3: then changed it. We got like three different name signs
- 12:01Speaker 3: for her room. We could not make up make up
- 12:03Speaker 3: her minds, but we finally did.
- 12:05Speaker 4: When she was just to jump in here. Hi, guys,
- 12:08Speaker 4: it's Ashley. When she came out and you were holding her,
- 12:12Speaker 4: were you like, yeah, she's a rosie. Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I mean now looking at her like the other names
- 12:17Speaker 3: that we had picked, and like, she is such a rosie,
- 12:19Speaker 3: Like none of these other names would have even worked.
- 12:22Speaker 4: So cute. Well, I hate to jump into the conversation late,
- 12:26Speaker 4: but I'm assuming that you didn't ask this question done
- 12:29Speaker 4: because it's kind of like a female a female question.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Uh.
- 12:32Speaker 4: You mentioned on your Instagram story soon after she was born,
- 12:36Speaker 4: you said that you'll tell her full birth story eventually,
- 12:40Speaker 4: but like this one you said there was like a
- 12:42Speaker 4: little traumatic. We can you hint to us as to why.
- 12:46Speaker 4: I know that you'll probably want to share the entire
- 12:48Speaker 4: thing on your own.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it was, so it was kind of crazy. So
- 12:52Speaker 3: I they always say like the third comes really fast, Yeah,
- 12:55Speaker 3: and I didn't know because they had like such a
- 12:57Speaker 3: big age gap. I'm like, is this going to still
- 12:59Speaker 3: be true because it's been ten years or whatever, But
- 13:01Speaker 3: I mean she came really fast. It was like, honestly, easy,
- 13:04Speaker 3: as fast as labor, and then when it came time
- 13:07Speaker 3: to push, everything went super fast and easy until the end.
- 13:13Speaker 3: She had it's called the shoulder dystocia. I don't know
- 13:16Speaker 3: if you know that. It's it's basically where their shoulder
- 13:17Speaker 3: gets stuck, which doesn't sound dangerous, but it's really dangerous.
- 13:22Speaker 3: It's an emergency. So basically, all like the sirens and
- 13:26Speaker 3: lights started going off. She wasn't breathing at first.
- 13:29Speaker 4: This is traumatic.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it was very traumatic. So I wasn't able to
- 13:34Speaker 3: hold her right away. They had to take her to
- 13:36Speaker 3: the side, like I saw her. But then at the
- 13:38Speaker 3: same time, I'm laying there, so there's nothing I could do,
- 13:40Speaker 3: So Michael was with her anyway. It was chaotic and
- 13:43Speaker 3: it all happened so fast. But then once, you know,
- 13:47Speaker 3: like they got her breathing and her oxygen went up
- 13:50Speaker 3: and everything was fine, and she's been great ever since.
- 13:54Speaker 4: So you were still able to push her out even
- 13:56Speaker 4: though the shoulder was a little off.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Yes, I mean kind of there had to be some
- 14:01Speaker 3: intervention exactly.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yeah, So, but it's crazy because my doctor was saying,
- 14:10Speaker 3: with like a shoulder distocia, which I've heard of, I
- 14:12Speaker 3: only know, one of the person who had a baby
- 14:14Speaker 3: that had that baby like didn't make it, and it's
- 14:17Speaker 3: so scary that when it happened. My doctor was saying
- 14:21Speaker 3: that usually it's like with bigger babies, and she was
- 14:25Speaker 3: only seven pounds, so we're not really sure, Like I
- 14:28Speaker 3: don't really know why, but she's good now and it
- 14:31Speaker 3: all worked out. I'm like so thankful, but it was
- 14:33Speaker 3: very traumatizing.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Were you so relieved when you started going into labor,
- 14:38Speaker 4: because I know that the week or so leading up
- 14:40Speaker 4: to it, you're like, how am I still pregnant? Was
- 14:41Speaker 4: she exactly at like forty weeks?
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean right there. And it's so weird too,
- 14:46Speaker 3: because of everything that kind of happened, Like during birth,
- 14:49Speaker 3: I had kinson charboth a thirty seven weeks and towards
- 14:52Speaker 3: the end, I was like trying not to complain. I'd
- 14:54Speaker 3: never been pregnant that long before, but I just felt
- 14:57Speaker 3: like she was too big for me. Yeah, it was
- 15:00Speaker 3: like she's huge, Like I'm so uncomfortable, and I'm like,
- 15:02Speaker 3: maybe everyone just feels this way and now I'll getting
- 15:05Speaker 3: back and kind of like I think she was just
- 15:07Speaker 3: like too big. I think that's why it kind of happened.
- 15:09Speaker 3: I wish I would have had her sooner. But it's
- 15:12Speaker 3: all good.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Now, can you teach me something here? Obviously I'm very
- 15:17Speaker 2: uneducated in this field, and two of you can teach
- 15:22Speaker 2: me a lot. I've heard, you know, Jared's reaction before.
- 15:26Speaker 2: But what was like, what did Michael do during this
- 15:29Speaker 2: whole process that was good? Bad? I mean, I've had
- 15:33Speaker 2: one of my best friends he passed out and had
- 15:35Speaker 2: to get his own separate room. He couldn't even be
- 15:37Speaker 2: in there anymore. The doctors like get out of here,
- 15:39Speaker 2: Like what is he doing during this whole process.
- 15:42Speaker 3: It's funny because we had talked about it before because
- 15:45Speaker 3: Michael definitely could get like a little queasy, but he
- 15:48Speaker 3: was so good, you know, like holding my hand and
- 15:50Speaker 3: just whip me through everything. But when the doctor came in,
- 15:53Speaker 3: like Michael didn't want to cut the cord and he
- 15:55Speaker 3: didn't want to be like he wanted to be up
- 15:58Speaker 3: where I was. He didn't want to be down.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Okah, that's what I ended.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think it's like it's good at least
- 16:04Speaker 3: they know, like you don't want a situation where they're
- 16:06Speaker 3: down there and they like pass out or something. But
- 16:09Speaker 3: then with everything that ended up happening. It ended up
- 16:12Speaker 3: not working out because he had to go to the
- 16:13Speaker 3: other side to be with the baby. So he ended
- 16:16Speaker 3: up seeing everything, and he told me everything, and it
- 16:19Speaker 3: was my third time obviously having a baby, and he
- 16:22Speaker 3: told me things that I didn't even know, like we're
- 16:24Speaker 3: going down in the room, and so he's a little traumatized.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, it's so funny. I was like, bird's
- 16:33Speaker 4: eye view is okay. Full frontal is not okay. And
- 16:36Speaker 4: then it was like after the fact when he was
- 16:39Speaker 4: over at the little table with Dawson and they're like
- 16:41Speaker 4: stitching me up. He's like they were like pretending to
- 16:44Speaker 4: cover you. But like I saw that entire process.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Oh god, I'm so sorry.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Don't be sorry. It's beautiful. I mean, it's natural, it's beautiful.
- 16:55Speaker 2: It's just I I love I mean I do. I
- 16:59Speaker 2: always asked my buddies now that they're having kids, like
- 17:02Speaker 2: what what were you doing? And they all have very
- 17:05Speaker 2: different reactions. I will say the most common nominator for
- 17:08Speaker 2: all of them though, is like their eyes open up
- 17:11Speaker 2: like that was wild, Like I don't know, like none
- 17:13Speaker 2: of them are like, yeah, that was a good, cool
- 17:15Speaker 2: like thing. To see it was like no, whatever was
- 17:17Speaker 2: happening was like out of this world wild.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Yeah, Amanda, you posted something on Instagram last week that
- 17:26Speaker 4: really resonated with me as being like a feeling like
- 17:30Speaker 4: a disgusting pregnant woman because as we all know, and
- 17:33Speaker 4: I don't have to say aszillion times, but like I
- 17:35Speaker 4: just don't thrive during it, Like I just don't feel
- 17:38Speaker 4: my most I don't. I'm not my most beautiful. That's fine.
- 17:42Speaker 4: And I'm looking back at pictures of myself from like
- 17:44Speaker 4: a year ago today and I was like, Dawson, there's
- 17:46Speaker 4: your hot mom, Like what has happened to me? But
- 17:49Speaker 4: this time, I like know that I can, like I
- 17:51Speaker 4: will rebound. But you posted something about saying how like
- 17:55Speaker 4: you got yourself ready for an Instagram reel or like
- 17:58Speaker 4: a story set and you try to feel like you're
- 18:01Speaker 4: very cutest, but like at the end of the day
- 18:03Speaker 4: you still felt like discouraged with how you feel postpartum.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Can you elaborate on that?
- 18:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I was actually just thinking about this this morning
- 18:11Speaker 3: because I've been really hard on myself. I am five
- 18:14Speaker 3: weeks postpartum today, and it's like, you know, like these
- 18:18Speaker 3: things take time, like you just had a baby, like
- 18:20Speaker 3: you know you're going to go back eventually. And I've
- 18:23Speaker 3: been a little hard on myself. It's random fact, like
- 18:27Speaker 3: I literally have not lost a pound since I've been
- 18:29Speaker 3: back from hospital. No, and you know, I've been a
- 18:33Speaker 3: little down on myself about it. Then I was thinking,
- 18:36Speaker 3: you know, like when you're pregnant, you have like all
- 18:38Speaker 3: these fears, like you hope everything goes well with like libor,
- 18:41Speaker 3: and I was nervous about like you know, having postpartum
- 18:45Speaker 3: depression or baby boots, all these things that I don't
- 18:47Speaker 3: have luckily, and I'm like, Okay, well I feel really
- 18:50Speaker 3: lucky that like the hardest thing for me right now
- 18:52Speaker 3: has just been like that I'm not losing weight fast enough,
- 18:56Speaker 3: like at least I don't have all these other things.
- 18:58Speaker 3: And that's kind of like helped me, Like it'll I'll
- 19:01Speaker 3: go back to normal in time, like it is what
- 19:03Speaker 3: it is. It sucks in the moment when you don't
- 19:04Speaker 3: fit in your clothes and stuff, but it'll all be okay.
- 19:09Speaker 3: But yeah, I've been trying to just like put make
- 19:11Speaker 3: up on when the bathing apps and like little things
- 19:14Speaker 3: like that definitely definitely help kind of pull you out
- 19:17Speaker 3: of a rut. Yeah, but I feel you I'm pregnant
- 19:21Speaker 3: for me is bad, Like I do not feel good when.
- 19:25Speaker 4: I'm Yeah, it's just not a fun time. It was
- 19:27Speaker 4: like last week I started to like finally not like
- 19:30Speaker 4: feel I've started to feel like relatively not nauseous during
- 19:34Speaker 4: the afternoon pretty consistently, and I was like, Okay, go
- 19:39Speaker 4: to your skincare closet and like pick out a few
- 19:43Speaker 4: fresh items and like, let's start like actually getting your
- 19:47Speaker 4: skincare routine and caring about that again. So that felt good,
- 19:50Speaker 4: and I put make upon a couple times last week,
- 19:52Speaker 4: and that it does. But then sometimes I feel like, oh,
- 19:56Speaker 4: I tried today, Like I tried so hard, and I
- 19:58Speaker 4: still look in the mirror and I feel defeated because
- 20:01Speaker 4: it doesn't look right. Yeah, it doesn't look the same.
- 20:05Speaker 4: It doesn't look like what I know I'm supposed to
- 20:07Speaker 4: look like when I try.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I get that too, even now postpartum. Like I
- 20:12Speaker 3: was like, you know, I'm going to like go buy
- 20:14Speaker 3: a couple of pairs of genes and like a bigger
- 20:15Speaker 3: size just in the meantime, so I don't want to
- 20:17Speaker 3: just be living in spats all the time and then
- 20:19Speaker 3: I put the genes on and I was like, they fit,
- 20:21Speaker 3: but like, I don't look good in them, So what's
- 20:24Speaker 3: the point? Like, you know what I mean, it's kind
- 20:26Speaker 3: of the same mentality, but I feel you it's hard.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Of course you do look good, yeil, Like, what is
- 20:32Speaker 2: the consensus for because this is obviously a topic that
- 20:37Speaker 2: I'm hearing about all the time, you know, on social media,
- 20:40Speaker 2: people you know, mothers are coming down and they're like, hey,
- 20:42Speaker 2: I don't feel like I used to and I haven't
- 20:45Speaker 2: you know, gone back to what I used to look
- 20:47Speaker 2: like in the mirror and all those things. What is
- 20:49Speaker 2: like the consensus advice that you two are receiving that
- 20:52Speaker 2: maybe a listener could receive to kind of like work
- 20:56Speaker 2: through this and with it and like heal a little
- 20:58Speaker 2: bit mentally, you know, emotionally and mentally.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Well, I guess I'll go first. I think it's not
- 21:04Speaker 4: so much advice that I have been given so much
- 21:07Speaker 4: as like I can give myself now because I've gone
- 21:10Speaker 4: through it before. But I think that like just having
- 21:16Speaker 4: faith that like you're gonna you will go will feel
- 21:19Speaker 4: back to normal, like because the first time it's scary
- 21:22Speaker 4: because you really don't know like, is this feeling in
- 21:26Speaker 4: my body right now? And my self confidence like gonna
- 21:30Speaker 4: stick like this? And I guess, and maybe I'm not
- 21:33Speaker 4: speaking for everyone, but for myself, I know that like
- 21:37Speaker 4: within a few months after having him, I was just like, oh,
- 21:40Speaker 4: what a relief. I feel like me again. And I
- 21:42Speaker 4: do see these Instagram reels that I can sadly not
- 21:46Speaker 4: relate to this summer, but I can't wait till the
- 21:48Speaker 4: following because it says like, this is your summer where
- 21:52Speaker 4: you're not pregnant and not freshly postpartum and you get
- 21:54Speaker 4: to enjoy drinks and feel like yourself by the beach.
- 21:57Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh, yeah, that's a great feeling.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, that's that's how I'm hoping to feel
- 22:02Speaker 3: by the.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Summer, Amanda. Any advice that you've been given, no, I mean.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Kind of kind of just what I said earlier though,
- 22:10Speaker 3: was like I've just been trying to like change my
- 22:12Speaker 3: perspective and being like, well, I'm so lucky that this
- 22:14Speaker 3: is like the only thing that I'm like struggling with
- 22:16Speaker 3: right now, because it's, like Ashley said, something that I
- 22:20Speaker 3: know is not going to last forever, and I feel
- 22:23Speaker 3: lucky that, like That's that's what I'm stressing about, you
- 22:25Speaker 3: know what I mean, because there could be so many
- 22:27Speaker 3: other things. So that's kind of what's helping me.
- 22:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 22:41Speaker 2: I used to Amanda this was recorded and documented. I
- 22:46Speaker 2: thought it was really sweet as and true. I was
- 22:49Speaker 2: not lying to her. But Ashlely with Dawson would show
- 22:52Speaker 2: up to the podcast and be like, Ashley, you look
- 22:54Speaker 2: beautiful to day and she'd be like, no, I don't,
- 22:56Speaker 2: don't say that, it's not true, and I'd be like,
- 22:58Speaker 2: all right, I'll stop saying like not my deal is
- 23:02Speaker 2: my role of acne.
- 23:03Speaker 4: And I would get on the podcast after throwing up
- 23:06Speaker 4: multiple times pregnant with Dawson, and he would say these things.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah, not my role. That's Jared's role. He gets to
- 23:13Speaker 2: deal with whatever this is outside of me. But as
- 23:17Speaker 2: you like for a partner who is going through this,
- 23:21Speaker 2: like what things has Michael done or or even you know,
- 23:23Speaker 2: Jared done to really support you well during this time.
- 23:28Speaker 3: I feel like Michael was like so sweet throughout the
- 23:29Speaker 3: whole pregnancy and even now I can't really think of
- 23:32Speaker 3: like anything specific. Yeah, I don't know, actually, do you
- 23:36Speaker 3: have any anything?
- 23:37Speaker 4: Okay? So, like I finished breaking bad last week and
- 23:41Speaker 4: I finished a whole five season series in five weeks, okay,
- 23:45Speaker 4: because and that's actually not It wasn't that like excessive.
- 23:48Speaker 4: I was watching hour and a half every day.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Actually, you don't have to. You don't have to like
- 23:53Speaker 2: apologize for yourself. It's fine. You watch an episode, now,
- 23:56Speaker 2: tell us what happened.
- 23:57Speaker 5: Right.
- 23:57Speaker 4: So I would like be in bed and watch an
- 24:00Speaker 4: episode at like noon on a weekday, and Jared would
- 24:02Speaker 4: be and I'd be like, stop judging me if you
- 24:04Speaker 4: walk into the bedroom, because I'm like, you think I
- 24:06Speaker 4: should even be reductive, And he's like, I'm not judging you.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I swear relaxed, enjoy yourself. I want you to. And
- 24:13Speaker 4: I think, Ben, my best advice to you for the
- 24:15Speaker 4: future or any other guys out there, is just like, truly,
- 24:19Speaker 4: don't judge your girl when she's like just resting. Because
- 24:24Speaker 4: I saw this again funny Instagram real the other day.
- 24:26Speaker 4: It was like, oh, hey, what's up today? I just
- 24:29Speaker 4: like created a kidney? What'd you do?
- 24:31Speaker 3: You know?
- 24:32Speaker 4: So it's like I'm still sitting there being really really productive.
- 24:35Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Okay, So yeah, no, that's a good one. I would
- 24:38Speaker 3: say the same with Michael like when I'm like taking
- 24:41Speaker 3: a nap on the couch like in the afternoon or something,
- 24:43Speaker 3: just like not not judging. That's a good one.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I feel like that's so easy, Like is it just
- 24:47Speaker 2: obvious to me that, like, hey, your wife's pregnant, like
- 24:51Speaker 2: don't tell her to get up and see what?
- 24:54Speaker 4: He would never tell me to do that. It's just
- 24:56Speaker 4: more of like how you feel because you feel like
- 24:59Speaker 4: you you should like be doing something. I don't know.
- 25:02Speaker 4: I think that a lot of people out there are
- 25:03Speaker 4: like I feel so unproductive. I just feel like a
- 25:06Speaker 4: bump on a log. And it's just like if the
- 25:09Speaker 4: people around you and Bracy being a bump on a log,
- 25:11Speaker 4: then you can like just relax a little bit more
- 25:13Speaker 4: truly yourself.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Yes, exactly, that's fair.
- 25:18Speaker 4: But Amanda, I was going to ask about your massages
- 25:20Speaker 4: that you've been getting, the lymphatic drainage massages that you
- 25:22Speaker 4: said I have been helping you.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I love them. So I've been trying to go
- 25:26Speaker 3: once a week because it just kind of like gets
- 25:28Speaker 3: things moving, like flushes like water and like swallowing out
- 25:31Speaker 3: of your system. And I've noticed a bit difference to
- 25:34Speaker 3: gone three or four times now, So I've been trying
- 25:37Speaker 3: to do that once a week plus. It's nice to
- 25:39Speaker 3: like get out of the house and like go do
- 25:40Speaker 3: something for myself. But I love it. You should find
- 25:44Speaker 3: someone close by. I did it during pregnancy too, but
- 25:47Speaker 3: I think it's especially helpful like postpartum with like swelling.
- 25:51Speaker 3: I didn't know, like I just guess I forgot that,
- 25:53Speaker 3: Like I was more swollen the week after I had
- 25:57Speaker 3: her than I was the ivy.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Everybody looks as much like in the pictures, like you're
- 26:03Speaker 4: like a baby announcement picture when you like do your
- 26:07Speaker 4: makeup and you're like, okay, it's been twenty four forty
- 26:09Speaker 4: eight hours, let's put it out there. And then you
- 26:11Speaker 4: put your makeup on, you think you kind of look cute,
- 26:13Speaker 4: and then you see the picture and you're like, my
- 26:15Speaker 4: face is twice as us because there's so much salt
- 26:18Speaker 4: of my body right now.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Yes, oh my gosh, I almost couldn't fit my feet
- 26:23Speaker 3: in my shoes like I was, you know, but I
- 26:26Speaker 3: feel like it helped. You would just kind of like
- 26:27Speaker 3: blush all of that out totally.
- 26:30Speaker 2: So as we close up here with you, Amanda, what like,
- 26:34Speaker 2: what's uh?
- 26:35Speaker 4: I mean?
- 26:35Speaker 2: You obviously have a lot going on, and again it's
- 26:38Speaker 2: okay to be like nothing more than what's happening in
- 26:40Speaker 2: this house. That's great, But is there anything our listeners
- 26:43Speaker 2: can pay attention to anything happened in your life that
- 26:46Speaker 2: you want to talk about a little bit.
- 26:49Speaker 3: No, pretty much, just that's all what's happening in the house.
- 26:54Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, I got a question. Then, Yeah, how did
- 26:57Speaker 4: you play the most perfect birthday party? For Charlie's tenth
- 27:01Speaker 4: birthday party? It was like curated to perfection in the
- 27:05Speaker 4: Taylor Swift Eras theme. It was nuts for something that
- 27:08Speaker 4: you just said, you just threw it together. You're like,
- 27:10Speaker 4: I haven't planned anything like bad days before.
- 27:13Speaker 3: No, it actually turned out a lot better than I was,
- 27:15Speaker 3: like than I was expecting. So what happened was I
- 27:18Speaker 3: didn't plan anything for Charlie's birthday because I was due
- 27:22Speaker 3: at the like around the time of her birthday, I
- 27:24Speaker 3: thought that I was going to have Rosie like a
- 27:25Speaker 3: lot sooner. So then like as every day went by,
- 27:28Speaker 3: I was like, oh my god, I'm going to have
- 27:30Speaker 3: her on Charlie's birthday. So I think I had a
- 27:32Speaker 3: lot of guilt and I was like, I have to
- 27:33Speaker 3: plan a good birthday party for Charlie because like, we
- 27:36Speaker 3: didn't do anything for her birthday, so I managed to
- 27:39Speaker 3: pull it together at kind of the last minute. But
- 27:42Speaker 3: it was fun.
- 27:43Speaker 4: She had a good Amazon seems like a lot of
- 27:45Speaker 4: those products you got from Amazon.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Everything everything was from Amazon.
- 27:49Speaker 2: That's some mom magic.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Mom magic would be, what did we do before Amazon Prime?
- 27:54Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 27:56Speaker 4: It's a lot harder to be a mom, not in
- 27:58Speaker 4: today's date age.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Well, Amanda, it's really great to catch up with you.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Very excited to get congratulations on the birth of Rosie
- 28:06Speaker 2: and your beautiful family. Tell Michael congratulations from all of us.
