- 0:41Speaker 1: super Bowl Rematch here Tray, did you hear what I said?
- 0:44Speaker 1: What super Bowl rematch? Yeah, it's a rematch. When he
- 0:48Speaker 1: says it, I said, it's not a rematch. In a
- 0:51Speaker 1: week on the gape with my girlfriend and hopefully fingers
- 0:54Speaker 1: crossed come back engaged. So I'm friend to come over
- 0:58Speaker 1: and help you out here. Fred should come over and
- 1:00Speaker 1: give them your blessing. Yeah, I'll present the ring like
- 1:03Speaker 1: Prema with Fred. Yeah, I know I was calling past years.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I've had very good records. You had a good record,
- 1:13Speaker 1: bless It's such a fraud. Don't make me go and
- 1:16Speaker 1: get my notebooks, you know. In that respect, it's a
- 1:20Speaker 1: good thing. This is in a way game Wait, wait,
- 1:22Speaker 1: what isn't the game here here? You know what this
- 1:26Speaker 1: is gonna be a top This is Patriot's Unfiltered fueled
- 1:31Speaker 1: by Duncan. All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is
- 1:37Speaker 1: Tuesday here at Gilette Stadium, a rare day after show
- 1:40Speaker 1: for the world's original podcast twelve Hours. Yeah. Usually, you know,
- 1:45Speaker 1: we usually we skip like after a Monday night because
- 1:48Speaker 1: Ei takes over the studio for Patriots Monday on a Tuesday,
- 1:53Speaker 1: and so we're like, all right, just let them have
- 1:55Speaker 1: their time. But I don't know where they are, so
- 1:57Speaker 1: we're here. But we were planning on having this show anyway,
- 2:00Speaker 1: so always. Yeah, So it's really a continuation of the
- 2:03Speaker 1: postgame show because, you know, not a lot of new
- 2:06Speaker 1: waste than one. Yeah, I mean, not a lot of
- 2:09Speaker 1: new information since last night builded his morning hit um
- 2:13Speaker 1: with Ei in you know, really just sticking to his guns,
- 2:19Speaker 1: not really not naming who the starter is. And I'm surprised,
- 2:23Speaker 1: you know, I really thought he would. I mean, I
- 2:25Speaker 1: just thought an easy way to to just kind of
- 2:27Speaker 1: I don't want to say bury this game, but kind
- 2:29Speaker 1: of put this game behind you would just be come
- 2:31Speaker 1: out and say, we got Mac a little work last night.
- 2:34Speaker 1: We're feeling good about the direction he's in. I mean,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I do, I do acknowledge maybe there's some health stuff
- 2:38Speaker 1: that they are still working through, but if it's going
- 2:41Speaker 1: to be close, just give him the confidence, name him
- 2:43Speaker 1: the starter, put all this to bed this week, Let
- 2:46Speaker 1: everybody focus on the Jets. And but it doesn't seem
- 2:48Speaker 1: like that's what they're gonna do. I agree. I mean,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you know, maybe a practice it'll be evident to the
- 2:52Speaker 1: team that macks the starter, but if they got to
- 2:55Speaker 1: read between the lines and themselves. You know, we were
- 2:59Speaker 1: talking about it before the show, and we knew what
- 3:01Speaker 1: was gonna happen if Mac didn't play well with the fans.
- 3:05Speaker 1: But he's a human being. You know, after two series,
- 3:10Speaker 1: you're yelling for your backup. That's that's gonna stick. That
- 3:15Speaker 1: that that's got to leave a mark, you know, And
- 3:18Speaker 1: some you know players will take that and use it
- 3:21Speaker 1: as motivation and get mad and you know, but other players,
- 3:26Speaker 1: you know, will be resentful, and you we don't know
- 3:30Speaker 1: which one it's gonna be from Mac. I think it'll
- 3:32Speaker 1: be a little both. I think he'll fight. I think
- 3:35Speaker 1: he's a competitor. I don't think he'll tuck tail. I don't.
- 3:37Speaker 1: But I also don't think he'll ever forget it. Well,
- 3:39Speaker 1: that's what I mean. I don't mean like giving up.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I mean, like, will he ever forgive? You know, now
- 3:46Speaker 1: if he plays so well that, you know, the Patriots
- 3:50Speaker 1: are like, you know, you're our guy. You know we
- 3:51Speaker 1: want to give you, you know, six years, two hundred
- 3:55Speaker 1: and thirty million dollars. Yeah, I mean I think he'll
- 3:57Speaker 1: he'll forgive then. But yeah, let's just say it's sort
- 4:00Speaker 1: of he remains like that kind of good quarterback. Well,
- 4:05Speaker 1: I could be a good quarterback and get money somewhere
- 4:07Speaker 1: else I don't need, you know. Yeah, right, but there's
- 4:09Speaker 1: no ignoring the noise. I mean even Jacobe Myers mentioned
- 4:12Speaker 1: after the game he didn't think it was fair after
- 4:14Speaker 1: all the work he had put in, that that was
- 4:16Speaker 1: the treatment that he got. Yeah, yeah, I agree. I
- 4:19Speaker 1: mean that's why I put the fans on the bad
- 4:22Speaker 1: list last night, Freddie. Yeah, I think they exacerbated the situation.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I mean, it ultimately started. Mike had the first bad
- 4:28Speaker 1: and coaches the plan. Yeah, I think was flawed. Yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I you know, we like we talked about it last night.
- 4:35Speaker 1: We we got you know, rumblings of it before the
- 4:38Speaker 1: game that that was what was going to happen. And
- 4:41Speaker 1: I said from the get go, if that's the plan,
- 4:43Speaker 1: I do not like it. Yeah, I do not like it.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Curse I do not enforce. And I'm telling you, if
- 4:49Speaker 1: Mack had come out and lit it up, they wouldn't
- 4:51Speaker 1: have taken him out. They would have maybe maybe if
- 4:54Speaker 1: the score was the other way toward the end, you
- 4:56Speaker 1: take him out, you know, just to avoid any you know,
- 5:00Speaker 1: you know, fourth quarter injury or something like that. But
- 5:03Speaker 1: you know they weren't going to take him out if
- 5:05Speaker 1: he was playing really well. Now that would be that
- 5:07Speaker 1: that's this doesn't make sense. How how bad was that
- 5:11Speaker 1: interception he threw? You know, when I first saw it,
- 5:13Speaker 1: like I saw it, I saw a Smith open. But
- 5:17Speaker 1: in order to get it to Smith, you had to
- 5:19Speaker 1: avoid a bunch of guys who were converging. Yeah, and
- 5:23Speaker 1: you know, so he was in a space but he
- 5:26Speaker 1: was you're right, yeah, well you described was right. He
- 5:28Speaker 1: was open quote unquote, but there were three guys around him.
- 5:31Speaker 1: You couldn't throw a laser because you had to get
- 5:34Speaker 1: it over at least one guy, and you know he's
- 5:38Speaker 1: not he's pedaling, he's back pedaling. He floats it over
- 5:41Speaker 1: and by the time the ball got there, there were
- 5:43Speaker 1: three guys on Smith, you know, So it was everything
- 5:46Speaker 1: I was hoping that he wouldn't do. When he came back,
- 5:48Speaker 1: it just looked exactly like what it was before, which
- 5:50Speaker 1: was forcing a ball into coverage off his back foot
- 5:55Speaker 1: like it was, it had no chance. And it's just like,
- 5:57Speaker 1: so I'm all for what you guys said about the fan,
- 6:00Speaker 1: but at the same time, like as just for me,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I was incredibly frustrated watching him come out and pick
- 6:05Speaker 1: up exactly where he left off against Baltimore in terms
- 6:07Speaker 1: of the turnovers. And it just depends what you think
- 6:10Speaker 1: of mac Jones to me, Like when Bill decided, Like
- 6:15Speaker 1: as the weekend went on, it was seemed apparent that
- 6:18Speaker 1: mac Jones was going to start. That's what most of
- 6:20Speaker 1: the you know, see, he's expected to start, he's expected
- 6:23Speaker 1: to play, and I think the fans sort of got
- 6:26Speaker 1: on board, well that's what Bill's doing, so that's what
- 6:28Speaker 1: we're gonna do. Um And then the first sign of trouble,
- 6:32Speaker 1: it was like, give us a ZAPPI. Yeah, Like, what
- 6:36Speaker 1: do you think if Mac like that? To me is
- 6:38Speaker 1: the bottom line. If you thought Mac was a franchise
- 6:41Speaker 1: quarterback after what he did last year, you wouldn't be
- 6:44Speaker 1: looking to change, right, And I think there was a
- 6:47Speaker 1: lot of people that are looking to change. It's deuces,
- 6:51Speaker 1: Paul to me and to MARRAWI, how you doing stand? Yeah,
- 6:58Speaker 1: I didn't run. I drove you filmed up unfiltered this morning?
- 7:02Speaker 1: We did. Yeah, it was it was a good one.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Paul really got animated. We could have used a filter,
- 7:06Speaker 1: yeah he could. I did my Robert Sali friend. You
- 7:08Speaker 1: would have liked it. Yeah, yeah, I got down, I
- 7:10Speaker 1: rolled up my sleeves. I got in. Somebody had to
- 7:12Speaker 1: come behind and hold you back, you know. Oh you
- 7:14Speaker 1: know I should have had you do. I almost wanted
- 7:17Speaker 1: to be like, who's more amimated? You know? Paul, Dan Campbell,
- 7:20Speaker 1: Robert like he's writ in that pantheum right. It was
- 7:24Speaker 1: gotta get you a more lack of sleep TV show.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I'm unconscious right now. It was like six Beth was
- 7:32Speaker 1: gone to work. It was not a good morning. I
- 7:35Speaker 1: had a Pedia light yesterday because now I feel great.
- 7:37Speaker 1: That's the difference. Pedia light those electro lights. You got
- 7:41Speaker 1: to do it the day before so that the next
- 7:43Speaker 1: day kicks in, you're hydrated, you're ready to go. Okay,
- 7:47Speaker 1: all right, I'm gonna try it next just out of curiosity.
- 7:49Speaker 1: What time did you get to sleep too? I went
- 7:53Speaker 1: to bed at two, woke up at nine. I'd be
- 7:56Speaker 1: fine too, that's a regular night sleep. Oh good morning.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I got to bed at three and I was up
- 8:03Speaker 1: at six. I see for me, I need about like
- 8:06Speaker 1: ten hours. You know what I got, Paul? You know
- 8:08Speaker 1: the you know this sound, The sounds like a fourteen
- 8:11Speaker 1: year old boy stomping just woken up into the bathroom
- 8:15Speaker 1: like his morning pete. Like, I'm half asleep and I
- 8:17Speaker 1: just like stomping in. You know there's no there's no
- 8:22Speaker 1: sleeping in our house. Well, I don't have kids yet.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Enjoy it. I get the dog licking me. Just god,
- 8:31Speaker 1: you got to take him for a walk. At him outside, No,
- 8:33Speaker 1: he had already been up, but he just you know,
- 8:35Speaker 1: he likes my taste. Oh my gosh. I just this
- 8:40Speaker 1: reminds me of the conversation of Buffalo wings and all right,
- 8:44Speaker 1: there you go. Oh yeah, I heard that story. It's nice,
- 8:51Speaker 1: little love it e there, get away from that game
- 8:53Speaker 1: for a second tomorrow. We you know, I said, this
- 8:55Speaker 1: show is like a continuation of the postgame show. But
- 8:57Speaker 1: you weren't on the show, So what do you what?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Were you as shocked as we were what happened? I
- 9:05Speaker 1: was it almost felt like I couldn't believe what my
- 9:09Speaker 1: eyes saw. Yeah, and I honestly thought the Bucks lost
- 9:13Speaker 1: to the Panthers. I was like, nothing could be worse
- 9:15Speaker 1: than that. Yeah, last night it might have been worse
- 9:17Speaker 1: than that. Yeah, just because coming into that game, like
- 9:21Speaker 1: it was really nothing about the Bears that really scared me.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I mean, obviously justin fields, you know what he's capable of.
- 9:28Speaker 1: But that was arguably his best game of his NFL
- 9:30Speaker 1: career that I saw last night, and I just it
- 9:33Speaker 1: was disappointing. It seems like the exact moment it was
- 9:36Speaker 1: just like disappointing. Was disappointing because he was starting to
- 9:38Speaker 1: get confidence with you, and you know, it just felt
- 9:41Speaker 1: like they took a step backwards. Yeah, it's funny. My
- 9:44Speaker 1: mom texted me after our pregame show. She was like,
- 9:46Speaker 1: I can't believe you made your key to the game.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Don't be stupid, And I'm like well, I called her afterwards,
- 9:50Speaker 1: was like, and what did they do in the game, Like, yeah,
- 9:55Speaker 1: it just I felt like they hit the snooze button
- 9:58Speaker 1: on the Bears. I didn't listen to. Yeah, they didn't.
- 10:01Speaker 1: They didn't add it off. I think stupid. Didn't protect
- 10:04Speaker 1: the ball, nothing, nothing, They didn't they didn't scare the bear.
- 10:09Speaker 1: But I think, like to Tamearith play like I kind
- 10:11Speaker 1: of had settled into like a feeling, like you said,
- 10:13Speaker 1: of like I think they're going to be pretty good.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Like I was getting back to the place of like,
- 10:17Speaker 1: all right, they might not make a playoff run or anything,
- 10:20Speaker 1: but this is twenty twenty one again. They're gonna beat
- 10:22Speaker 1: the bad teams and they will take care of the
- 10:26Speaker 1: teams that they're better. That's what I was thinking. And
- 10:28Speaker 1: then and then as it got to be ten nothing,
- 10:30Speaker 1: I was a little intrigued, just because I still thought
- 10:33Speaker 1: this is a terrible team. I think they'll get they'll
- 10:35Speaker 1: turned around, they'll score a touchdown, maybe we'll come back
- 10:38Speaker 1: for once, and and and Mike kept saying he wanted
- 10:41Speaker 1: He was like I want this team to like have
- 10:43Speaker 1: to play from behind so we can really see, you know,
- 10:45Speaker 1: what they're capable of. And I literally rolled my chair
- 10:48Speaker 1: over to Mike and I was like, hey, ten, nothing
- 10:51Speaker 1: like this is what you wanted to see, this type
- 10:53Speaker 1: of adversity, like the team playing from behind and not
- 10:55Speaker 1: having the lead in the beginning. Yeah, and then we
- 10:57Speaker 1: all probably thought the same things that becomes in it's
- 10:59Speaker 1: four ten ten, And I think everybody maybe was like
- 11:02Speaker 1: even me and maybe perhaps Paul who had been hesitant
- 11:05Speaker 1: to like pump the zappy train. But I don't know,
- 11:08Speaker 1: maybe there's just something special about this kid, and maybe
- 11:11Speaker 1: we're gonna roll in this game and we're gonna win,
- 11:12Speaker 1: and he's gonna put up forty points in these guys.
- 11:14Speaker 1: You know, for that brief moment, I think you thought that,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and you felt the energy in the stadium. Oh god,
- 11:18Speaker 1: the place was going crazy. There was an electricity. Oh yeah.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I literally rolled my chair over to Mike and I said, hey,
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'm not coming to work to America and coming down
- 11:27Speaker 1: with the fever. So one thing that kind of stuck
- 11:31Speaker 1: out cleared up in the fourth quarter is like, you know,
- 11:35Speaker 1: like you had said, like, you know, I still I
- 11:37Speaker 1: thought they were sort of settling into that team that
- 11:39Speaker 1: was going to beat the teams that they were better
- 11:41Speaker 1: than they weren't better than that team last night. No, No,
- 11:44Speaker 1: that that was to me the eye opening things like Chicago,
- 11:47Speaker 1: I think is a not a talent rich roster, but
- 11:52Speaker 1: their players were better than your players last night physically hard.
- 11:55Speaker 1: They just out physical the Patriots, and you something that
- 12:00Speaker 1: kind of got lost under the radar because of the
- 12:02Speaker 1: quarterback situation everything, the fact that Jamie Collins started what
- 12:07Speaker 1: is that saying? It's what is that saying here? Because
- 12:10Speaker 1: and I listen, Judon, I think had a good game,
- 12:12Speaker 1: not like he's the only guy that I could even
- 12:14Speaker 1: muster to put on the good list. So I'm not
- 12:15Speaker 1: trying to tell you this game last night was Jamie
- 12:18Speaker 1: Collins's fault. But I think you can look and say,
- 12:20Speaker 1: like two and a half sacks, he had a past
- 12:22Speaker 1: defense that turned into the Miles Bryan interception. What a
- 12:25Speaker 1: great game. I don't think he had a great game
- 12:27Speaker 1: last night. Now statistically he did, but I thought there
- 12:30Speaker 1: was a lot of slamming down inside looking for sacks
- 12:33Speaker 1: and allowing justin fields to get around him. And I
- 12:35Speaker 1: wonder if that's one of the things that Bill said.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I want to get Collins out there because I think
- 12:41Speaker 1: he might be able to better now at then hindsight,
- 12:43Speaker 1: it was not a good move. I didn't even notice
- 12:44Speaker 1: Jamie Collins all night. Well, I noticed him once when
- 12:47Speaker 1: he bit and got burned. Yeah, and Judon consistently allowed
- 12:51Speaker 1: Fields to get around him. I think he settled down
- 12:53Speaker 1: a little bit in that regard with his discipline in
- 12:55Speaker 1: the second half, and he made Fields make some decisions
- 12:59Speaker 1: and it didn't just easily get around him. But I
- 13:01Speaker 1: wonder if that had something to do with it. Was
- 13:03Speaker 1: it because of Fields that Collins was out there? I
- 13:06Speaker 1: don't I can't tell you that with certainty, but that
- 13:08Speaker 1: would be my guess. I mean, it's hard to say,
- 13:12Speaker 1: but I'm reading between the lines. It just felt like
- 13:14Speaker 1: they thought it was going to be a physical, upfront,
- 13:17Speaker 1: ground and pound kind of game, and that they were
- 13:18Speaker 1: gonna have to rotate a lot of guys in it.
- 13:20Speaker 1: It seemed to me my impression was that let's hold
- 13:23Speaker 1: off on Judeon for like, got to have it passing
- 13:25Speaker 1: plays and you know, kind of make him a little
- 13:27Speaker 1: bit more situational, rather than making him deal with every
- 13:31Speaker 1: first and second down having to stop the run and
- 13:33Speaker 1: set the edge and getting them all tired out, spread
- 13:35Speaker 1: out the load a little bit between Jennings and Collins
- 13:38Speaker 1: and him, But I mean, you know, and I guess
- 13:40Speaker 1: to some degree it worked because he's continued to be
- 13:42Speaker 1: productive here but not nobody else's really you know, like
- 13:46Speaker 1: before the game, it's like, oh, it's good to see
- 13:47Speaker 1: Lawrence guy back, you know, and I figured they'd be okay, yeah, yeah,
- 13:51Speaker 1: and he did. He ended up playing seventy percent of
- 13:54Speaker 1: the snatch, so it's not even like he got much
- 13:56Speaker 1: of a rest. I mean, what was he like eighty
- 13:58Speaker 1: percent last year? Who judo Juda? Yeah? Probably yeah, so yeah.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I mean, I I just think in retrospect it probably
- 14:05Speaker 1: didn't work, and Collins didn't play much, you know, twenty
- 14:08Speaker 1: two snaps, So I don't know. I mean to answer
- 14:12Speaker 1: your original question, Fred, I, I just don't know why
- 14:15Speaker 1: they did it, but I'm guessing it had something to
- 14:16Speaker 1: do with Fields. But I also, like we talked about
- 14:19Speaker 1: it when we just taped to the TV show, you know,
- 14:21Speaker 1: and Bill said, you know, they don't really have any
- 14:24Speaker 1: design runs with Justin Fields, and they had a lot
- 14:26Speaker 1: of last had a lot of design runs for him
- 14:29Speaker 1: last night. Yeah, a lot of like option runs type
- 14:31Speaker 1: of thing, you know. I mean, he always says, Bill
- 14:33Speaker 1: always says after every loss, you know, you know, it
- 14:35Speaker 1: starts with the coaching. We got a coach him better.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Last night was a game that he was not wrong,
- 14:41Speaker 1: but the coaching was a big part of the problem
- 14:43Speaker 1: last night. They were unprepared for what Chicago was doing,
- 14:46Speaker 1: and their decision to do what they wanted to do
- 14:49Speaker 1: offensively did not put his team in the best position
- 14:52Speaker 1: in my opinion. Yeah, yeah, I mean, I I mean,
- 14:55Speaker 1: my thing was just just didn't look ready to match
- 14:57Speaker 1: the energy the Bears, and the Bears seem like they
- 14:58Speaker 1: came in here and wanted to win right from the
- 15:00Speaker 1: get go. It was just way we had a game.
- 15:01Speaker 1: When they scored the touchdown to make it ten nothing,
- 15:04Speaker 1: their sideline exploded, and I was like, and they were
- 15:10Speaker 1: like not affected by because I think they looked at
- 15:13Speaker 1: it like they got the two touchdowns because we missed
- 15:16Speaker 1: a wide open guy and they got a hand on
- 15:18Speaker 1: a pass. We can move the ball. I think they
- 15:20Speaker 1: were kind of unaffected by the fourteen point, right, you know,
- 15:25Speaker 1: which I think a lot of people probably felt like, Okay, now,
- 15:28Speaker 1: slow start, we spotted them ten. Well, well, you know,
- 15:31Speaker 1: we'll win thirty one to ten. I think a lot
- 15:33Speaker 1: of people were feeling that way. Chicago. I don't think
- 15:36Speaker 1: ever looked at it that way. They immediately got the
- 15:39Speaker 1: ball and won seventy five yards and retook the lead,
- 15:42Speaker 1: forced to turn over on the Zappie fumble, and then
- 15:45Speaker 1: went back down and got another field goal, and then
- 15:47Speaker 1: got the ball to start the second half and had
- 15:49Speaker 1: another long drive. Like they were just unaffected by those
- 15:52Speaker 1: two touchdowns that the Patriots got. Yeah, disappointing is the word.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Why can't the defense with the mobile quarterbacks? I mean,
- 16:00Speaker 1: you know, I go back to my first year in
- 16:02Speaker 1: twenty nineteen with Lamar when they first kind of got
- 16:04Speaker 1: Lamar that first time. I mean, you know, you know
- 16:08Speaker 1: you're gonna have to be dealing with Buffalo and Miami
- 16:11Speaker 1: and not that Miami's mobile. But it's just these these
- 16:14Speaker 1: problems keep popping up, and it's just every time they
- 16:16Speaker 1: look like, who we don't know what to do again.
- 16:19Speaker 1: It just seems like to play last too long, like
- 16:21Speaker 1: you know, against the Patriots, these mobile quarterbacks are able
- 16:25Speaker 1: to buy time and by that time, everybody's so spread out,
- 16:28Speaker 1: there's huge running lanes. You know, you got to get
- 16:31Speaker 1: to him faster. You can't, I don't know, you can't
- 16:34Speaker 1: play that zero technique you know, where you're just taking
- 16:37Speaker 1: up space and allow this guy to run around back
- 16:40Speaker 1: there and make room for himself and buy time and
- 16:43Speaker 1: all that, and you can't cover forever, you know. Um,
- 16:47Speaker 1: and eventually he's gonna find huge open lanes to run,
- 16:50Speaker 1: you know, because everybody's so spread out by the time
- 16:53Speaker 1: the play breaks down. You know, I don't know, you know,
- 16:56Speaker 1: like what do I know? But it just seems like
- 16:58Speaker 1: other teams are able to do a little bit better
- 17:02Speaker 1: against mobile quarterbacks, you know, And what do we do
- 17:06Speaker 1: that's different? Well, we you know, we insist on those
- 17:08Speaker 1: big guys, you know, filling up two gaps and not
- 17:12Speaker 1: being aggressive, just taking up space, and that seems to
- 17:15Speaker 1: be one of the thing core principles of our defense
- 17:18Speaker 1: that a lot of other teams don't do. Yeah, you know,
- 17:20Speaker 1: And that's the conundrum that like you favor these bigger players,
- 17:24Speaker 1: but you can't stop the run, like you know, like
- 17:26Speaker 1: like we we always talk we need to get smaller,
- 17:29Speaker 1: faster linebackers sideline to sideline. All right, that's fine, but
- 17:33Speaker 1: you know you've got these big body guys Carl Davis,
- 17:36Speaker 1: you know, Devon Godcha, Jawan Bentley in the middle. They
- 17:40Speaker 1: can't stop the run. They haven't been able to stuff
- 17:41Speaker 1: the run for three four years now, so like something's
- 17:44Speaker 1: got to change, Like you keep going with these big guys,
- 17:46Speaker 1: and like, so if you can't stop the run with
- 17:48Speaker 1: the big guys, then why are you going with big guys?
- 17:50Speaker 1: Like just go with small guys and be faster. And
- 17:52Speaker 1: if you're not going to stop the run anyway, I'd
- 17:54Speaker 1: at least like to be fast and be able to
- 17:55Speaker 1: deal with some of the speed that you have to
- 17:56Speaker 1: deal with right now, Yeah, because like the speed that
- 17:58Speaker 1: they have that they don't seemed like they play those
- 18:00Speaker 1: guys a ton. But I mean, like the livebackers, you know, well,
- 18:06Speaker 1: you was hurt last night, but he's been there, he
- 18:09Speaker 1: hasn't He hasn't played that much. Mac Wilson plays a
- 18:12Speaker 1: little bit, Ray Kua McMillan plays a little bit, but
- 18:14Speaker 1: you don't really notice them. Bentley and and I'm not
- 18:19Speaker 1: picking on because I actually think he's played reasonably well
- 18:21Speaker 1: the last year. I mean I didn't notice so much
- 18:23Speaker 1: last night, but he flashed on one play where he
- 18:26Speaker 1: caused some pressure, and I think they have some mismatched
- 18:31Speaker 1: parts still. Yeah, it's I mean, it's a process. You
- 18:34Speaker 1: can't just rebuild it and get it the way you
- 18:36Speaker 1: wanted immediately. And it's been a couple of years. I
- 18:38Speaker 1: think they're still reworking the roster a little bit. Yeah, well,
- 18:42Speaker 1: I mean that's the thing. We talked about it last night.
- 18:45Speaker 1: They're not a good team, you know, in order to
- 18:47Speaker 1: be Patriots, in order to be a good team, you
- 18:50Speaker 1: have to be good consistently. Unless you're something consistently, you're
- 18:54Speaker 1: not that whatever it is, bad or good. I think
- 18:57Speaker 1: they're a team that plays good sometimes and plays really
- 19:00Speaker 1: poorly sometimes. They're an inconsistent team. At this point, Well,
- 19:04Speaker 1: I just to me, when I think of consistent, like
- 19:07Speaker 1: that starts with a quarterback. I need you to make
- 19:09Speaker 1: a decision. Pick one, don't play both, Like when you
- 19:12Speaker 1: have two, you have none, So pick one. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:15Speaker 1: because it's hard to as much as you say, like
- 19:18Speaker 1: you can do this narrative like oh, like the preparations
- 19:21Speaker 1: the same for both quarterbacks. We don't have to tweet it.
- 19:23Speaker 1: We don't change it. Yes you do, so pick one.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I don't At this point, I don't care who you pick.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Just pick one who you're comfortable with the rest of
- 19:31Speaker 1: the season. No more of this like, oh, we're gonna
- 19:34Speaker 1: pull Mac Jones put Bailey, and we're gonna pull Bailey
- 19:36Speaker 1: put Mac. No pick one. Yeah. I just the consistency thing.
- 19:40Speaker 1: And that's another like how do they look so good
- 19:43Speaker 1: against certain bad teams and so inapt against quality teams
- 19:49Speaker 1: like I just and it's been consistent. It's not like
- 19:52Speaker 1: one year, Oh this is one team that just they
- 19:54Speaker 1: were kind of front runners. It's different personnel now. I mean,
- 19:57Speaker 1: you've gotten rid of a lot of guys. I mean
- 19:59Speaker 1: I can't, I can't. And and here's I don't trust them.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I don't know when I will ever trust them. And
- 20:03Speaker 1: here's something to keep an eye on and your ears on.
- 20:07Speaker 1: It's it's it's the locker room. Other than Mac, it
- 20:11Speaker 1: doesn't seem anyone knew of the plan last night, and
- 20:16Speaker 1: you know, you have to really listen and pass words,
- 20:18Speaker 1: but it seems like guys were a little bit bewildered
- 20:23Speaker 1: at at what transpired. You know, Myers Steve I was
- 20:27Speaker 1: at Myers locker last night when he was talking to media,
- 20:30Speaker 1: and he literally said he was shocked when Mac was
- 20:33Speaker 1: pulled as fast as he was, but he said, that's
- 20:35Speaker 1: the NFL. Yeah, it's well, it's the NFL, but it's
- 20:38Speaker 1: it's also how how are my teammates being treated? You know,
- 20:41Speaker 1: first first thing is how am I being treated? That's
- 20:43Speaker 1: always their first thing, you know. But then that could
- 20:47Speaker 1: happen to me, you know. Um, So believe me they
- 20:52Speaker 1: they pay attention to everything and and keep an eye
- 20:56Speaker 1: on this, because I will be shocked if it's not
- 21:00Speaker 1: one apparent to the team who the starting quarterback is
- 21:04Speaker 1: for the Jets. I'll be shocked me too, if I
- 21:06Speaker 1: thought I would be too. But I'm already borderline shocked
- 21:11Speaker 1: that we don't know right now. Yeah, like I thought
- 21:13Speaker 1: when he talked to the media this morning, he would say,
- 21:16Speaker 1: you know, yeah, you know, we had a chance to
- 21:19Speaker 1: see Mack. He came out of the game physically. Okay,
- 21:22Speaker 1: you know, he'll he'll be the starter. It's a short week,
- 21:24Speaker 1: so tomorrow is game planned day. And I'm with you, Paul,
- 21:30Speaker 1: but I'll be even doubly shocked if by tomorrow at
- 21:33Speaker 1: four o'clock we don't know who the starting quarterback with you, Jet,
- 21:36Speaker 1: I'm with you. I think that he would look at
- 21:38Speaker 1: that in retrospect. He won't admit it to us, he
- 21:40Speaker 1: doesn't need to, but I think he would say that
- 21:42Speaker 1: the way he handled it last week was not in
- 21:44Speaker 1: the best interest of the team. Also, Fred, back to
- 21:46Speaker 1: what you said about, you know, paying attention to just
- 21:50Speaker 1: the little things. One thing we talked about in the
- 21:51Speaker 1: pregim show, which I don't know if you guys talked
- 21:52Speaker 1: about it again on the post game was um Isaiah
- 21:55Speaker 1: went and how he scrubbed his whole Instagram and then coincident,
- 22:00Speaker 1: didn't I didn't know that. Yeah, so another player did
- 22:03Speaker 1: the same thing last night. Um scrubbed his whole Instagram
- 22:07Speaker 1: and Damon Harris, Oh really, scrubbot whole instagram, changed profile picture,
- 22:11Speaker 1: deleted all his Patriots photos and why Yeah, and he
- 22:16Speaker 1: put a few back on there this morning. But it
- 22:18Speaker 1: was just very odd and it was just like, what
- 22:23Speaker 1: a weird thing to do right after the game. Maybe
- 22:25Speaker 1: he feels like I need to start over or something
- 22:27Speaker 1: like that, but but it's weird. Next thing, you know,
- 22:31Speaker 1: the house is for sale. Isaiah win Um. I'm obviously
- 22:37Speaker 1: he was limited all week in practice, but I still
- 22:39Speaker 1: think it's odd that his his Patres scrubbed and then
- 22:43Speaker 1: he didn't play well. I wonder, like, you know, people speculate,
- 22:46Speaker 1: and they should if he's being held out, you know,
- 22:49Speaker 1: because they might want to move him. I mean, and
- 22:52Speaker 1: I just said, and I did push back a little
- 22:54Speaker 1: on tomorrow last night in the pregame. He didn't play
- 22:56Speaker 1: because he was hurt. But that doesn't mean that he
- 22:59Speaker 1: also is not on the block, like I think Tamara
- 23:02Speaker 1: and I both can be right here right like he
- 23:06Speaker 1: he might be battling an injury that they said, you
- 23:09Speaker 1: know what you're not you're not playing well, and in
- 23:13Speaker 1: the back of their mind they're like, and we're going
- 23:15Speaker 1: to move you in a week, right. I don't think
- 23:16Speaker 1: they'll move them because who wants them? Yeah, but well,
- 23:21Speaker 1: you know you you say that, but like, let's go
- 23:24Speaker 1: back to the agents. The agents and other teams here
- 23:27Speaker 1: say you know, he's he's not being he's not being
- 23:30Speaker 1: used the right way, blah blah blah. They moved him
- 23:32Speaker 1: to right tackle they didn't. But I think that's why
- 23:35Speaker 1: you get the scrubbing of the stuff. So then you
- 23:37Speaker 1: get the other teams that their ego bring them over here,
- 23:39Speaker 1: we'll get them, right, you know, right, But a lot
- 23:42Speaker 1: of Patriots have done that. But if he's right, what
- 23:44Speaker 1: is he is? My point? I know, pro Bowl guard,
- 23:47Speaker 1: but he's a left guard. Okay, can you say it
- 23:49Speaker 1: like he's not that I think he is, Like we're
- 23:51Speaker 1: four years in. He's not what you thought here because
- 23:53Speaker 1: they haven't used them that way they should. He's a
- 23:56Speaker 1: left guard. He's a pro Bowl guard. They might need
- 23:58Speaker 1: a left guard. I just think it's weird. Why what's
- 24:00Speaker 1: wrong with cold strange? We'll see what happens if David
- 24:03Speaker 1: Andrews is out this week. Because David Andrews holds his
- 24:05Speaker 1: hand on every place, true. I just think it's Oh
- 24:09Speaker 1: and he deleted pictures again? Oh jeez, oh boy, Harris. Yes,
- 24:18Speaker 1: he only got three carries, so maybe he's and he
- 24:20Speaker 1: was healthy like they he wasn't like he was renewed
- 24:23Speaker 1: from the injury point. You know, who knows. I don't
- 24:26Speaker 1: know like this, I just think is this the thing? Now?
- 24:28Speaker 1: That's that was my question. It's like I would rather
- 24:32Speaker 1: like leave the pictures up there so then no one
- 24:34Speaker 1: knows if something is going. Oh no, they're acting out
- 24:38Speaker 1: children because because threebo did that debo scrubbed his page
- 24:41Speaker 1: of everything forty nine ers until and that's his whole
- 24:44Speaker 1: situation and then now it's bad, it's acting out. Is
- 24:47Speaker 1: that how you tell someone like, you know, no, Bill,
- 24:50Speaker 1: I'm good, Damian, you you're you're still You're still still
- 24:53Speaker 1: like okay, all right, it's I'll show you, right, sub
- 24:58Speaker 1: It's just so how you're doing, like I guess. So
- 25:00Speaker 1: it's like, because I erson you do that when you
- 25:02Speaker 1: break up with your girlfriend boyfriend, you delete your whole
- 25:04Speaker 1: page and change your profile chets page. I just it's weird,
- 25:12Speaker 1: you know, weird. Just another thing I wanted to bring
- 25:14Speaker 1: up was do you think that there's something to be
- 25:16Speaker 1: said for like maybe given the team the opportunity to
- 25:18Speaker 1: kind of come and play for Mac Jones who got
- 25:20Speaker 1: booed by his own fans here, like, you know, if
- 25:22Speaker 1: he really is the guy, I would I would hope
- 25:24Speaker 1: that on the team there's some sense of like this
- 25:27Speaker 1: guy has been like organizing offseason, he's a captain, let's
- 25:32Speaker 1: rally around this guy and play for him. Like I
- 25:34Speaker 1: don't get that sense at all, And it seems like
- 25:36Speaker 1: it's being fed too, because nobody really knows what's going on.
- 25:39Speaker 1: So I got the sense with Myers anyway, I mean
- 25:43Speaker 1: I agree at least like words. I mean, with his
- 25:45Speaker 1: words he supported, He's like supported. I mean, it's thanks,
- 25:48Speaker 1: but that's SNAFL so good luck. I just that's that's tough.
- 25:52Speaker 1: It's tough. I mean, I think everybody, except for maybe
- 25:55Speaker 1: the people booing him, felt a little bit bad for
- 25:57Speaker 1: for Mac. Class last night. There was a lot of
- 25:59Speaker 1: that on Twitter. Hard when when when Zappy came in
- 26:01Speaker 1: and immediately threw a touchdown, there was like five or
- 26:03Speaker 1: six people are like I kind of feel bad for Mac, Right, yeah,
- 26:06Speaker 1: I did. I literally texted my family. I was like,
- 26:07Speaker 1: I couldn't imagine just like internally being booed off and
- 26:12Speaker 1: then hearing my backup come in and he their cheers
- 26:15Speaker 1: a chance for him, he scores a touchdown, right, especially
- 26:18Speaker 1: because it's like a blown coverage. Like it wasn't like
- 26:20Speaker 1: he came in and threaded the needle and was like
- 26:22Speaker 1: throw a dime and you're like, well, I just gotta
- 26:23Speaker 1: tip my hat because he's really good. It was like,
- 26:25Speaker 1: I mean, and to be fair, I mean, maybe those
- 26:27Speaker 1: places were there to be Mabel Mac was in and
- 26:29Speaker 1: he just didn't make him. I don't I have I
- 26:30Speaker 1: won't eliminate that as a possibility. But still, but these
- 26:33Speaker 1: are the facts. Okay, this is the facts. So like
- 26:39Speaker 1: Mac Mac's first possession, he takes over at the twenty two,
- 26:42Speaker 1: I'm sorry, the seventeen. His second possession, he takes over
- 26:45Speaker 1: at the twenty one. His third possession, he takes over
- 26:47Speaker 1: at the twenty three. Zappy comes in. Where do you
- 26:50Speaker 1: think they took over midfield forty five? Second possession? What
- 26:53Speaker 1: do you think he took over field fifty? Like that's
- 26:56Speaker 1: like Matt, like Mac Jones and Bai Zappy had nothing
- 27:01Speaker 1: to do with their average starting field position on those
- 27:03Speaker 1: first five drives. Okay, the next drive that Baileys Zappie started,
- 27:08Speaker 1: where do you start his own? Twenty seven? How'd how'd
- 27:11Speaker 1: that end? Not with points? And then he went twenty seven,
- 27:16Speaker 1: eighteen fourteen, No points on any of those drives, Like,
- 27:20Speaker 1: that's not just an insignificant thing. You start near midfield,
- 27:23Speaker 1: you're probably gonna score, right, and you have that one
- 27:26Speaker 1: big chunk play and he makes it easy. He had
- 27:28Speaker 1: seventy three yards on two throws. Yeah, and one of
- 27:31Speaker 1: them was a terrible throw, an incredible catch by Myers.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Now the one to Parker good solid throw, great catch
- 27:39Speaker 1: by Parker, by good solid throw by Zappy. Yeah, and
- 27:42Speaker 1: Mac is not making those plays. And to Mike's point,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I don't know, but maybe he's missing some of that
- 27:49Speaker 1: stuff and maybe the reason for the timing of taking
- 27:53Speaker 1: Mac out. This kind of was a developing opinion as
- 27:56Speaker 1: I was driving in today, Like we all talked about
- 28:00Speaker 1: it at the time Live. How many times do you
- 28:02Speaker 1: just like take off? Yeah? Yeah, Like do you think
- 28:05Speaker 1: maybe Mac? And Matt Patricia and Joe jg Were saying, Matt,
- 28:07Speaker 1: I mean Bill s Bill, Matt and Matt Patricia was saying,
- 28:11Speaker 1: you know, Mac, where are you going? Just stay in
- 28:15Speaker 1: the pocket. There's plays to be made. Run the play,
- 28:18Speaker 1: execute your read, you know, go through your progressions. Don't
- 28:20Speaker 1: look to escape before you need to. And then it's
- 28:24Speaker 1: like three drives and the same thing happened, and the
- 28:27Speaker 1: pick was the same thing. He leaves the pocket and
- 28:30Speaker 1: goes over and makes the play, and they're like, you
- 28:32Speaker 1: know what, he's not trusting the process. We got to
- 28:34Speaker 1: get him out. Evan was funny because Evan was mad
- 28:37Speaker 1: before the game. You know, the fog is I'm really
- 28:40Speaker 1: worried about the all twenty two. I'm not sure, but
- 28:46Speaker 1: this is a good week for his analysis, Like was
- 28:49Speaker 1: mac missing plays? Like what was going on in the
- 28:53Speaker 1: route progress, you know, in the route trees while he's
- 28:56Speaker 1: in the pocket. See even if they were, even if
- 28:58Speaker 1: they he wasn't aarily missing receivers. I don't think they
- 29:02Speaker 1: want him running around like like he wasn't under siege
- 29:05Speaker 1: last night. I don't think that the pressure was such
- 29:08Speaker 1: that did you just had to get out Like against Baltimore,
- 29:11Speaker 1: he was under siege and he had to get out
- 29:13Speaker 1: of the pocket and make plays with his feet, and
- 29:15Speaker 1: I thought he did that effectively. I don't think he
- 29:17Speaker 1: had to do that last No. I think that was
- 29:19Speaker 1: more of like the hero Ball moment coming in showing
- 29:22Speaker 1: showing people like my angle works, it works, just fun.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I think it was I'm out of here, like I
- 29:29Speaker 1: don't think he trusted it, and like the first one
- 29:32Speaker 1: was like it was after that penalty right on. I
- 29:36Speaker 1: think Trent Brown got a penalty and that was third
- 29:41Speaker 1: and eleven and he scrambled up the middle for six
- 29:44Speaker 1: hut and it was like third and eleven, like unless
- 29:47Speaker 1: the red sea just parted and he has no one
- 29:50Speaker 1: near him, like you're not getting third and eleven right, yeah, yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 1: and it was quick. I thought it was a quick
- 29:57Speaker 1: decision to get out of the pocket. You mentioned like
- 29:59Speaker 1: he wanted to as the ankle. We were joking around
- 30:02Speaker 1: last night, like in the huddle, He's like, guys, here's
- 30:04Speaker 1: the play, but I'm going to test the ankle on
- 30:05Speaker 1: this plas test the ankle on too. Yeah. I mean,
- 30:09Speaker 1: ankle looked looked good. No one looked good. Like his
- 30:12Speaker 1: mobility looked fine. You know, he was other than the
- 30:15Speaker 1: one where he was under pressure and threw off his
- 30:18Speaker 1: back foot for the interception, he was planting. He was,
- 30:21Speaker 1: you know, distributing the weight fine. Didn't look like he
- 30:24Speaker 1: was favoring one foot. I thought that was the only
- 30:26Speaker 1: positive that came out as he hotel. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 30:30Speaker 1: What also didn't look at the running game. Yeah, it
- 30:33Speaker 1: didn't look at which was weird. I expected that to be.
- 30:37Speaker 1: The Bears came to play, they did, and they were
- 30:39Speaker 1: just beating us in the trenches both sides. And you know,
- 30:43Speaker 1: when you realize that, you gotta adjust, you know, And
- 30:46Speaker 1: I think you know, when Zappi came in, he was
- 30:48Speaker 1: using a lot of like swing passes and check downs
- 30:51Speaker 1: to Stevenson and they were kind of working, you know,
- 30:54Speaker 1: that's the other good one word. No, No No, he had
- 30:57Speaker 1: more than one. He had a lot of little check
- 30:58Speaker 1: downs to Stevens and none of them were positive. There
- 31:00Speaker 1: was one on the third down that confirmed many How
- 31:02Speaker 1: many yards catching did Stevenson have? He had a lot
- 31:05Speaker 1: of catches. He had eight catches, Yeah, and I think
- 31:08Speaker 1: that was there was only one of them that was
- 31:09Speaker 1: a positive, like a really good play at a twenty
- 31:11Speaker 1: yard play, and it was the first third down that
- 31:13Speaker 1: he came in. Well, I think the rest of them
- 31:15Speaker 1: were all plays down down nineteen points that they're throwing
- 31:18Speaker 1: underneath good luck. I think as we're scratching for positives,
- 31:21Speaker 1: I think one of them is like Stevenson kind of
- 31:24Speaker 1: emerging as a better pass as a decent pass catcher.
- 31:28Speaker 1: You know. I think he's far and away the better
- 31:31Speaker 1: of the two. Yeah, I think that. And I'm hoping that,
- 31:34Speaker 1: you know, the scrubbing of the Instagram changing their profile picture,
- 31:37Speaker 1: I'm hoping it was just like you know, one of
- 31:38Speaker 1: those like emotional things. Yeah, and then he because he's
- 31:42Speaker 1: slowly adding puctures back from last night, everything was gone
- 31:46Speaker 1: profile picture. Maybe it was just changing. But then also
- 31:49Speaker 1: archiving thirty Patriots photos. That's weird. But but add this
- 31:53Speaker 1: to Mary, add this to the little bucket of let's
- 31:57Speaker 1: watch the locker room. Let's yeah, this is part of it.
- 32:00Speaker 1: And that was you might need to go in and
- 32:02Speaker 1: talk to the fellas. I might come in on Friday,
- 32:04Speaker 1: and just but I think I would. I would rather
- 32:07Speaker 1: do it like and Irish could buy and not delete anything.
- 32:10Speaker 1: And just like if I was receiving trade interests or
- 32:13Speaker 1: whatever it is, I'd rather not know. Well, it's called
- 32:15Speaker 1: passive aggressive. It's passive aggressive. They use social media that way.
- 32:22Speaker 1: The other thing did you see my Instagram? Yeah? No,
- 32:25Speaker 1: why what's on it? You know? The other thing the
- 32:27Speaker 1: other thing players will do in this age is, you know,
- 32:31Speaker 1: you know on social media is they won't scrub, but
- 32:33Speaker 1: they'll come up with like some weird where like you know,
- 32:37Speaker 1: just ain't fair. And then everyone's like, hey, you want
- 32:39Speaker 1: to elaborate. What does that happen with Cam Newton? When
- 32:42Speaker 1: we were at the Eagles training camp, we were there,
- 32:45Speaker 1: someone said, like, you posted such and such on your
- 32:48Speaker 1: Instagram story? What did that mean? He's like, uh, nothing
- 32:51Speaker 1: related to the Patriots. Like it was just crazy. So
- 32:54Speaker 1: but like they'll do that though, Yeah, you know, and
- 32:58Speaker 1: what are you shaking your hands here? Just tell us
- 33:00Speaker 1: who the starter is? What does it mean? Or you
- 33:02Speaker 1: know Patrick Chung was big on than that. You know. Yeah,
- 33:05Speaker 1: you know, sometimes people say things and you just can't
- 33:08Speaker 1: trust them. Okay, who were you talking about? Yeah? What
- 33:11Speaker 1: are you talking to? The best thing you can do
- 33:13Speaker 1: there is just ignore it, Yeah, because that's exactly what
- 33:15Speaker 1: they're craving. Oh yeah, they want everybody to be like,
- 33:18Speaker 1: what's the matter? What's the matter? Asked me about why
- 33:20Speaker 1: I have this bad look on my face? You right,
- 33:22Speaker 1: But I don't. I will say, you know, it probably
- 33:26Speaker 1: was just I'm hoping just you know, three carries. I'm
- 33:29Speaker 1: hoping that that it was just you know, it's kind
- 33:32Speaker 1: of mature, but well, I mean he sees the writing
- 33:35Speaker 1: on the wall too. He's going to be here another
- 33:36Speaker 1: half a season. Yeah, and so I'm hoping you know,
- 33:39Speaker 1: a few pictures were added back. Maybe it's just you
- 33:42Speaker 1: you've had a good night's sleep, you woke up and
- 33:43Speaker 1: you're like, all right, so keep keep on which pictures
- 33:47Speaker 1: like any anything in particular? Is there a pattern here
- 33:50Speaker 1: that the Steeler's picture was added back? You know that's
- 33:53Speaker 1: a good Nagie Harris isn't doing that well, like he's
- 33:57Speaker 1: approven that trade destination. Oh my gosh, that's that's reading. Really,
- 34:01Speaker 1: what are you talking about that dealers? He's readers would
- 34:05Speaker 1: want to trade for. They're not gonna trade Damien Harris.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Why not and leave themselves at one running back for
- 34:11Speaker 1: the rest of the year. How you got pier strong
- 34:13Speaker 1: you got to keep and maybe yourself with one running
- 34:16Speaker 1: back for the rest of the year. Like those guys
- 34:18Speaker 1: aren't ready. Maybe we're fire sale. Maybe we're like, you
- 34:20Speaker 1: know what, we lost one game, Like do I have
- 34:23Speaker 1: to be the one that raised the troops? They lost
- 34:25Speaker 1: one game. I don't know if Damien Harris isn't going anywhere. Yeah, okay,
- 34:29Speaker 1: they're not gonna trade Damian win could be traded because
- 34:33Speaker 1: they just won him out, But they're not gonna trade
- 34:35Speaker 1: Damien Happy. No, you can't. I don't know. He'll leaders
- 34:38Speaker 1: a free agent at the end of the year. More
- 34:40Speaker 1: than it was an emotional archive, I don't I would not.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I would be shocked if they traded. Why are you
- 34:47Speaker 1: acquiring people? It's one of the few teams in the
- 34:50Speaker 1: worst spot than the Patriots. Yeah, I don't know. I
- 34:54Speaker 1: don't know. I like Pittsburgh. Oh he might like them,
- 34:57Speaker 1: but like, seriously, if you're Pittsburgh, why would you trade
- 35:00Speaker 1: for somebody? You would trade somebody to somebody from draft
- 35:04Speaker 1: picks because you're rebuilding right. Yeah, now, Isaiah Win or
- 35:10Speaker 1: Kendrick Bourne, that's different. But damon Harris, non Hittsburgh will
- 35:15Speaker 1: trade for Isaiah Win. They need offensive line help. Okay.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Now if Kendrick Bourne scrubbed his page, then I'd be like, hmm,
- 35:24Speaker 1: that's different. That's different. Yeah, that's a different one. I
- 35:33Speaker 1: got two little sleep tip. We just put a last week.
- 35:35Speaker 1: We posted a do year life episode with Kendrick Bourne.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I figured we get people saying, oh, Patriots, you know,
- 35:43Speaker 1: maybe you know, Kendrick Bourne's out of the doghouse. Maybe
- 35:46Speaker 1: you know people reading into that you know, didn't happen
- 35:50Speaker 1: now did work? So he's a guy that out of
- 35:56Speaker 1: all these guys that we're talking about in terms of
- 35:58Speaker 1: never November first, by the way, it's the trade deadline,
- 36:00Speaker 1: so it's coming quickly today. I think Kendrick Bourne is
- 36:04Speaker 1: a candidate. So yeah, toe injury is that a sticking
- 36:07Speaker 1: point though? If he's got a little bit of an
- 36:09Speaker 1: turf toe, yeah, but I mean, whoever would acquire him,
- 36:11Speaker 1: you know it's turf toe. You know he's out for
- 36:13Speaker 1: a week or two or whatever, and you know you
- 36:15Speaker 1: go from there. Now if it's more serious, because turf
- 36:17Speaker 1: toe can be there's definitely varying degrees of that. You
- 36:21Speaker 1: saw the guy from Chicago, the offensive lineman that left
- 36:23Speaker 1: the game last night. They carted him off with yeah,
- 36:26Speaker 1: um and he I mean they didn't say turf toe,
- 36:28Speaker 1: but they said a toe injury. So when they announced that,
- 36:31Speaker 1: there's only one kind, right, So it's not it's it's
- 36:34Speaker 1: it's not as Jermaine Wiggins would say, it's not not Yeah,
- 36:38Speaker 1: but I don't think it would be a deal breaker
- 36:40Speaker 1: for someone that's looking for a wide receiver down the stretch,
- 36:42Speaker 1: ye Green Bay. I just wonder about like what kind
- 36:45Speaker 1: of like what what is going to be the motivation
- 36:48Speaker 1: for making trades. Is it going to be to acquire picks?
- 36:51Speaker 1: Is it going to be is it to win now
- 36:53Speaker 1: or is it for the What would your motivation be?
- 36:56Speaker 1: My mind right now would probably be to acquire picks too,
- 37:00Speaker 1: and and and shed you know, any positions of depth
- 37:02Speaker 1: that you potentially have and try to max your your
- 37:05Speaker 1: draft capital. But I also wonder about the the locker
- 37:09Speaker 1: room element of you know, and I don't want to
- 37:11Speaker 1: overplay what Kendrick Bourne potentially means or doesn't mean to
- 37:14Speaker 1: the locker room, but you know, just the ramifications of
- 37:16Speaker 1: trading somebody like Isaiah Wynn within the locker room versus
- 37:19Speaker 1: the ramifications for trading somebody like I don't think they're
- 37:22Speaker 1: gonna trade Damien Harris, but but Damien Harris, who you know,
- 37:25Speaker 1: or even Kendrick Bourne to an extent that I think
- 37:28Speaker 1: has some leadership juice within the locker room or guys
- 37:31Speaker 1: you know kind of look to them a little bit
- 37:32Speaker 1: for energy or barking. Yeah, I mean, I think I
- 37:39Speaker 1: would have do with Mike. I I'm not looking to
- 37:42Speaker 1: have the Fred Curst fire sale, but if I had
- 37:45Speaker 1: someone you know, calling me do that you can acquiring
- 37:48Speaker 1: about about guys um, I would definitely be looking to
- 37:51Speaker 1: acquire picks, not necessarily like acquired talent. I have to
- 37:56Speaker 1: have Evan pay very close attention to the mood practice. Yeah.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Another one could be Nelson. That's another one that I'm like,
- 38:06Speaker 1: didn't play much last night. Kind of the fourth receiver
- 38:09Speaker 1: all of a sudden. Yeah, he's a guy that I
- 38:10Speaker 1: don't think would have much. It's like I think someone
- 38:13Speaker 1: would would take Kendrick Bourne and say, you know, we've
- 38:15Speaker 1: seen him be productive, he's on a reasonable contract. Will
- 38:18Speaker 1: we'll take home. I could do some different stuff, you know.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Aglord makes a lot of money right and is doing now.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Troy Aikman on the broadcast last night said that Taekwon
- 38:27Speaker 1: Thornton is the second best receiver on the team right now.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Who was the first who? He didn't say, Uh, he
- 38:34Speaker 1: said Thornton is the I mean Myers, Myers has to
- 38:37Speaker 1: be the best. I guess that catchy, but he said
- 38:41Speaker 1: that Thornton is the second best. Like that really caught
- 38:43Speaker 1: my ears. I think I'm like, I think it's telling. Yeah,
- 38:47Speaker 1: he's he's a long way away. Still. Yeah, I didn't
- 38:50Speaker 1: see really much he had. I mean he has ability.
- 38:52Speaker 1: You can see it, like he has ability to get open.
- 38:54Speaker 1: And I thought that early one that Mac missed him.
- 38:57Speaker 1: I thought he was open. I thought he had a
- 38:58Speaker 1: step just when the Bears cornerback did the Ellis Hobbs.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I got beat by three yards, but the past was
- 39:04Speaker 1: off target. You did the that was that's otherwise known
- 39:07Speaker 1: as the Ellis Hobbs. I think Thornton can play, but
- 39:11Speaker 1: I mean we haven't really seen much yet. All right,
- 39:13Speaker 1: eight five five past five hundred is the ace ticket
- 39:15Speaker 1: hut line web radio at Patriots dot Com is the
- 39:18Speaker 1: email address. Let's turn to our listeners. We'll start with
- 39:22Speaker 1: Jim and new Haven. What's up Jim? Hey, Hey Fred?
- 39:26Speaker 1: How you doing in the gang? Love the show? Thanks,
- 39:27Speaker 1: thank you. I just got a little quarterback controversy point
- 39:32Speaker 1: and something about the defense and when Bailey Zappy was playing.
- 39:36Speaker 1: It was after the Cleveland game that you know, I
- 39:39Speaker 1: don't know if you want to call a weakness or
- 39:40Speaker 1: not potential weakness. In the locker room celebration, he was
- 39:44Speaker 1: talking to Craft and they looked about the same height,
- 39:47Speaker 1: and I was worried about his height and like maybe
- 39:49Speaker 1: tip balls and things like that than Robert Kraft. But yeah,
- 39:55Speaker 1: height is an issue. It's an issue with both guys though, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:01Speaker 1: I mean when you're that when you're that short, you
- 40:04Speaker 1: need to be carefully. You need to look for your
- 40:05Speaker 1: passing lanes. Do you need to You know it's subtle,
- 40:08Speaker 1: but you need to move your feet left or right,
- 40:10Speaker 1: just a little bit, just enough to get that lane. Yeah.
- 40:12Speaker 1: And to Jim's point, there were a number of passes
- 40:14Speaker 1: bad down last yes, yeah, just up. We had a
- 40:17Speaker 1: little yesterday. Yeah. I also got a point about the defense.
- 40:22Speaker 1: You know, to me, the last four or five years
- 40:24Speaker 1: kind of the same. We can't handle a running quarterback.
- 40:28Speaker 1: You know, they rushed when they rushed, the rushed passed
- 40:30Speaker 1: a quarterback behind them and you're out of position. And
- 40:33Speaker 1: to me, bad tackle. And they would say they tackle
- 40:36Speaker 1: very well, and I don't really see the great tackles.
- 40:39Speaker 1: To me, bad tack one. And um, they did not
- 40:42Speaker 1: tackle well last night. I think they've tackled well this
- 40:44Speaker 1: season though. Yeah. The other the other thing I noticed
- 40:48Speaker 1: that from last night was in the run game, initial
- 40:51Speaker 1: hit like one or two yards, but then the push
- 40:55Speaker 1: and one or two yard game turns into four. Montgomery
- 40:59Speaker 1: had a lot of yards after contact. Yeah. Yeah. You know,
- 41:03Speaker 1: even Matt Judan, who we probably think is the best,
- 41:06Speaker 1: you know, defensive player making plays and facts, but he
- 41:09Speaker 1: gets the sacks, but we still go for first down.
- 41:11Speaker 1: And one of the facts I think on one play
- 41:13Speaker 1: that he got then he doesn't set the edge and
- 41:15Speaker 1: fields runs right by him for the first down. So
- 41:17Speaker 1: in the gates what he just did, right, it seems
- 41:19Speaker 1: like it's not timely what they're doing. You know. Yeah,
- 41:23Speaker 1: they struggled, but I would say that they haven't really
- 41:27Speaker 1: struggled in the recent past with teams like last night,
- 41:31Speaker 1: like offenses that are like one dimensional and uh really
- 41:35Speaker 1: not overly productive. Those are the kinds that they usually
- 41:38Speaker 1: shut down and we and we saw when fields passed,
- 41:41Speaker 1: he missed a lot. He's inaccurate, but wide open and sewing.
- 41:45Speaker 1: The guy's wide open all nights. Yeah, so that's what
- 41:48Speaker 1: that'sn't made it worse for the defense last day because
- 41:50Speaker 1: it looked like the plan from non football coach was
- 41:53Speaker 1: stay in front of him, don't let them, don't let them,
- 41:56Speaker 1: you know, run through you run sideways. And then it
- 41:59Speaker 1: seems like that he could past all but they led
- 42:01Speaker 1: him run. That was a that was the thing. He
- 42:03Speaker 1: really wasn't a good pastor at all. So we had
- 42:05Speaker 1: the edge there and we gave it up. Yeah, they
- 42:07Speaker 1: need a better plan. Thanks, Jim, appreciate the call. We'll
- 42:10Speaker 1: go to Todd in North Carolina. Hey Todd, Hey, guys,
- 42:15Speaker 1: I think tomorrow was spot on. They didn't play within themselves,
- 42:17Speaker 1: and that's one of the things that she said before
- 42:19Speaker 1: a game, that they had to, you know, play their
- 42:21Speaker 1: style of game, and they just really didn't. They got outcoached,
- 42:24Speaker 1: they got outplayed. It just didn't look good. And the
- 42:28Speaker 1: other thing I remember is last week the lady called
- 42:31Speaker 1: in from Chicago and she was worried, and you guys
- 42:33Speaker 1: kind of poopooed her, and she said, you know, these
- 42:35Speaker 1: got I watched their practice fields. Has got something, he's
- 42:39Speaker 1: got some movement. He's a big guy. They got to
- 42:42Speaker 1: be prepared for him. And you guys didn't really take
- 42:43Speaker 1: her seriously. Yeah, I didn't know. I thought the Patriots
- 42:46Speaker 1: were good. I won't make that mistake going forward. Yeah,
- 42:50Speaker 1: I get it. I do get it, because I mean,
- 42:52Speaker 1: you're absolutely right. I pooh pooed it. I thought the
- 42:55Speaker 1: Patriots would roll in this game. I'll take my medicine.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I was wrong, and I agreed with so I guess
- 43:02Speaker 1: I eat some crow too. But you know, it's coaching.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I think I just think we got out coached. It
- 43:06Speaker 1: really felt like we were just grasping at straws. Yeah it,
- 43:11Speaker 1: I mean these are one of you know, usually when
- 43:13Speaker 1: Bill says, oh, you know, we got out coached. It's like, okay,
- 43:15Speaker 1: you know, team team loss, but this is one of
- 43:19Speaker 1: the games where I really do think, you know, we
- 43:22Speaker 1: lost the coaching battle. Yeah, I agree, And I feel like,
- 43:25Speaker 1: oh week I kind of was just like, is justin fields,
- 43:27Speaker 1: like you know, hitting a wall here? Or are they
- 43:30Speaker 1: just not using him right? And I think that Monday
- 43:32Speaker 1: night game last night, I think they used him appropriately.
- 43:35Speaker 1: I feel like we haven't really seen that out of him.
- 43:37Speaker 1: That was probably arguably his best game as a pro. Yeah. Um,
- 43:41Speaker 1: and I'm just really sad and unfortunate that he had
- 43:45Speaker 1: against us. Yeah right, Yeah, like any other game, but
- 43:48Speaker 1: that one right, save that for the vikings. Um. Eldred's
- 43:52Speaker 1: in North Carolina. Hey, Aldred, Aldred? Oh, I don't even
- 44:00Speaker 1: hear the truck, Aldred, you're there, Aldred? Aldred talks to us.
- 44:05Speaker 1: All right, please we'll go to the We got a
- 44:08Speaker 1: lot of emails, a lot of emails, Antoine writes in
- 44:14Speaker 1: from Montreal. You guys touch quickly on the multiple quarterback point,
- 44:18Speaker 1: I'm just gonna off my head, but I can't remember
- 44:21Speaker 1: them playing well against one. This mobile quarterbacks well against
- 44:25Speaker 1: one since the league has shifted that way. Unless the weather,
- 44:28Speaker 1: level of the field. I feel like it comes back
- 44:30Speaker 1: to the fact that they would rather have sound and
- 44:33Speaker 1: discipline players in the field instead of the best athletes.
- 44:36Speaker 1: I would think that to stop an athlete at quarterback,
- 44:39Speaker 1: you need athletes to catch him and bring him down
- 44:42Speaker 1: because when they play sound and everything is covered, the
- 44:45Speaker 1: QB takes off for twenty yards, so we have eleven
- 44:48Speaker 1: guys trying to catch him. Maybe it comes back to
- 44:50Speaker 1: the epic Fred and Paul argument about playing the young, faster,
- 44:53Speaker 1: more athletic players. So what they make, So what they
- 44:57Speaker 1: make some mistakes and blow a cover for a sixty
- 44:59Speaker 1: yard touched down. I'd like to see them stop a
- 45:01Speaker 1: drive on third down and not have a fifteen play
- 45:04Speaker 1: eight r drive. Thanks for the therapy, Keep up the
- 45:07Speaker 1: great work. Yeah, And to his point, like we talked
- 45:10Speaker 1: about the linebackers earlier, you know, with ray Kua, McMillan
- 45:13Speaker 1: and mac wilson. I looked up they played twelve plays
- 45:16Speaker 1: and eleven plays nothing, So they were among the least
- 45:18Speaker 1: utilized defensive players they had last night, you know, they
- 45:22Speaker 1: had more Jabril peppers. I think when Dugger went out, um,
- 45:26Speaker 1: you know, he played a reasonable amount, but I don't.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I don't really know why they It just seems like
- 45:35Speaker 1: Bill can't help himself. He's gonna he's gonna gravitate toward
- 45:38Speaker 1: to buy over like oocha or you know mack Wilson
- 45:44Speaker 1: or something like that too. And I'm not telling yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 45:47Speaker 1: And I'm not telling you that mack Wilson's the answer.
- 45:49Speaker 1: I think he's not. Like he's a cast up. But
- 45:52Speaker 1: like I thought there were opportunities in the draft to
- 45:56Speaker 1: get some athletes and maybe mold them for the future.
- 45:59Speaker 1: And smaller but sideline linebacker. Yeah yeah, But at the
- 46:07Speaker 1: same time, like I would just say, like they should
- 46:09Speaker 1: be better than this. If Kyle Dugger is the player
- 46:12Speaker 1: that a lot of people say he is, and and
- 46:13Speaker 1: Adrian Phillips, I think he's a really good football player too.
- 46:16Speaker 1: I mean, those are two good in the box safety
- 46:18Speaker 1: types that they have to be better than this, like
- 46:21Speaker 1: they just like Kyle Dugger, he got hurt again, Like
- 46:24Speaker 1: you know, it stinks that somehow he gets hurt against
- 46:26Speaker 1: the mobile quarterbacks and then all of a sudden, it's
- 46:28Speaker 1: like we don't have our only guy that can stop people.
- 46:31Speaker 1: But he missed a nice tackle in the backfield. Oh yeah,
- 46:33Speaker 1: he struggled. Yeah, maybe that was and maybe he was
- 46:36Speaker 1: hurt before that. Assistency, you know, consistency, it's Wan writes
- 46:40Speaker 1: in from Stratford. Three quick points. One This one is
- 46:44Speaker 1: for Paul. We kept more injury free. Um two we
- 46:48Speaker 1: should have stuck with Mac for at least the first half.
- 46:50Speaker 1: And three. Silver pants are cursed and I'm glad Fred
- 46:53Speaker 1: called it last night. The silver they're like gray and
- 46:57Speaker 1: they don't match the helmet, So I am not on
- 47:00Speaker 1: board and needs silver pants. Like what like I was thinking, like,
- 47:03Speaker 1: you know, they have like a shiny silver helmet. What
- 47:06Speaker 1: if the pants were shiny silver? That would be kind
- 47:09Speaker 1: of like they lions shiny silver pants. But I mean like,
- 47:17Speaker 1: like you know how like like chrome some people wear
- 47:20Speaker 1: the bubble jackets and they're like shiny, you know what
- 47:22Speaker 1: I mean, Like the pants are like that, So you
- 47:25Speaker 1: mean like, uh, like Notre Dame's helmet. It's like yeah, chrome, yeah, chrome, yeah,
- 47:31Speaker 1: chrome pants. Yeah, chrome pants. He has to seem like
- 47:36Speaker 1: he was chrome. But it seemed like Judean was slow
- 47:39Speaker 1: to get up a few times during the game. Anyone
- 47:41Speaker 1: else see this And do you think you'll show up
- 47:43Speaker 1: on the injury report. Nah, nah, nah, I don't know.
- 47:48Speaker 1: I don't know. Refresh my memory was the on it
- 47:50Speaker 1: last week? I don't think so. Okay, Um, I think
- 47:54Speaker 1: I threw. Did you think it was weird last week
- 47:56Speaker 1: that the Bears had no one? Yes? I actually meant
- 47:59Speaker 1: to talk about that pregame show. I've never seen that. Yeah,
- 48:02Speaker 1: that's you know, like we always talk about things that
- 48:04Speaker 1: I see it, like in the playoffs sometimes yes, you know, yeah,
- 48:07Speaker 1: but no injuries to report? Nothing? Yeah, yeah, I thought
- 48:13Speaker 1: that was weird. Yep, damon in the UK with the
- 48:16Speaker 1: crowd chanting zappie? Did Bill listen to the polls of
- 48:19Speaker 1: the school teachers and fourth graders last night? Just kidding?
- 48:23Speaker 1: If he listened to my little pole, he would have
- 48:24Speaker 1: stuck with Mac. What annoys me most is the position
- 48:27Speaker 1: Jones was put in. He had six throws. Even Tom
- 48:30Speaker 1: Brady has thrown a pick in his first six passes
- 48:32Speaker 1: before Rogers missed a lot early in Week four. It's
- 48:36Speaker 1: a bad throw, but I get him being a little
- 48:38Speaker 1: nervous under pressure from the rushers, especially if he knew
- 48:41Speaker 1: he was coming out after that drive. He didn't know
- 48:44Speaker 1: he was coming out after that drive, and with the
- 48:46Speaker 1: crowd chanting the backup's name. Can you blame him at
- 48:49Speaker 1: a young stage trying to force some magic. I agree
- 48:52Speaker 1: with that element. It's just that, like Bill told Mac, ostensibly,
- 48:58Speaker 1: that's the way Bill has explained it. That the plan
- 49:00Speaker 1: was that both of those guys were going to play.
- 49:02Speaker 1: It had nothing to do with when or you know,
- 49:05Speaker 1: like after a pick or anything like that. But I
- 49:08Speaker 1: agree with the emailer there, like, I don't think that's
- 49:11Speaker 1: setting your quarterback up for a position to succeed. I
- 49:14Speaker 1: think that you're asking for trouble by saying you're coming
- 49:17Speaker 1: out at some point. Yeah, it's kind of like, you
- 49:20Speaker 1: know when everybody said, why wouldn't he just say that
- 49:22Speaker 1: Mac is the quarterback? And I brought up the fact
- 49:24Speaker 1: that maybe he's trying to send a message to Zappi.
- 49:27Speaker 1: Max's not ready to play. So I'm not going to
- 49:29Speaker 1: tell you publicly that when Mac is ready to play,
- 49:32Speaker 1: he will unquestionably be the starter, because what does Zappi do.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Maybe he says, I'm really doing well here, but I
- 49:39Speaker 1: have to do better because I have no chance to
- 49:42Speaker 1: be the starter. Once Mac comes back, I have to
- 49:44Speaker 1: do something to impress him and show him that I
- 49:46Speaker 1: need to be the starter, and instead of just handing
- 49:48Speaker 1: the ball off and you know, using play action and
- 49:51Speaker 1: making throws, I'm going to start trying to play outside
- 49:53Speaker 1: myself and do things that I'm not capable of doing
- 49:55Speaker 1: because I had to show him I could do it all,
- 49:57Speaker 1: I could be everything. Right. Well, I think that made
- 50:00Speaker 1: some sense, But it works the other way too with Mac.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Like you told them specifically, you're coming out, So I'm
- 50:07Speaker 1: not going to just throw that ball away on third down.
- 50:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to jam it in at the triple
- 50:11Speaker 1: coverage they get picked. Ye, all right, I'm gonna take

- 1:00:55Speaker 1: the blockchain. Yeah, in the blockchain. The Patriots need to
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: get on the blockchain. Is in offensive line blocking and
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: wins together. Yeah, it's just in play. I do appreciate though,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: in the locker room that everyone kind of took accountability
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: for it and it said like I'm not even gonna lie,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: like they completely outplayed us. It wasn't like you know
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: anything that like you can't even make excuses for what happened. Basically,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: they outplayed us, they wanted it more. Yes, like and
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: some of the other losses this week this year. Yeah,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: you know, penalties, turnovers, dumb plays. Yeah, there were so bad,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: but they got physically. Oh yeah, this wasn't This wasn't
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: like the Patriots beat themselves with those things like you mentioned.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: This was like, oh, they completely outplayed us. They wanted
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: it more. I mean it wasn't quite no punts force,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: but it was about as close as you can yet. Yeah,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: without being that bad. Yeah, what did I say that
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: dude's name was? Who? Who? Trenton casts. Oh and by
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: the way, we haven't mentioned Bailey the punter. Yeah, he's
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: been not good, not good line drive, punts, no hang time.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: They had great feel position. Yeah. I saw Mike Rees
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: ask Bill this morning about the weather, like it almost
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: seems like he's trying to give them an out for
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: the poor performance to say, Oh, I think it did.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: But maybe Bill wasn't biting on that one either. So yeah,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: another thing to watch. I mean, it just it feels
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: like your list of things to watch versus your list
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: of things to feel good about, your list of and
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: you know, Marcus Jones had several opportunities for you know,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: to return in the kickoff game and not much. There
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: wasn't a lot of good blocking up front. Think he
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: got past the twenty five once? Yeahn't. They're you know,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: really missing Cody Davis in a time like this. Bill
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: would go on a long diet tribe as to say,
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: to say, we lost sixty six positions. If if, if
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Mike had asked it in that way, I mean, just
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: how do you know? Bill? You know you allowed some
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: punt returns last night looked like Marcus was having trouble
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: on kick returns. Do you really miss Cody Davis? He
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: would have gotten a long, So you can't. You can't
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: replay Cody Davis sixty six can't have a backup a position.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Let's get to the perfect. Justin's in Virginia. Hey, Justin Bred,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: I think you're getting better at those reads. It was
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: kind of rough, he really is. He's coming into his own.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I think you're mixing me up with Hardy. He's coming
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: into his own. You're right, week six, he's getting stride.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: Week six jumps. Do you guys think about our chances
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: to make the playoffs? Not good? Is there a slither
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: is there something like you know, let's put it. We
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: talked about it last night. These two next games are
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: must if you if you think they have a chance
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: for or you want to have a chance for the playoffs,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: the next two games are must. I think wins three.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: There's still so many good teams in the rest of
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: the schedule, right, And it's like that's why I think
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: any wins. But you can pencil wins some losses. You're
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: gonna lose the Buffalo at least once and probably twice.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: So if you pencil that in, like, how do you
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: how do you figure it from there? Right? You know,
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Like listen, I thought they were gonna be eight and nine.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: I'm worried about that at this I think you're gonna
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: end up being right about perfect. You know, some wins,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: some concerns. Means the Dolphins missed two of for like
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: multiple weeks. We still didn't catch up to the Dolphins, right,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: do they lost three games in a row? YEA, yeah, yeah, yep.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: One of those beings this we needed to make hay
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: last night and we didn't do it. No, we we
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: came out flat. It was I think the only way
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: they made the playoffs is if they catch a break
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: with other teams injuries, kind of like what happened last
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: year with the seven games, what happened to the Jets. Yes, yes,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: losing two players this week? I think that, But I
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: mean with teams that you're not expecting to beat. Yeah,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: like the Jets you're expecting to beat. Now, that doesn't
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: mean we just learned. That doesn't mean you're gonna beat them.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: But like if you know, Josh Allen goes to and
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: suddenly you're able to beat Buffalo in a game that
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: you didn't expect to win. You know, Davante Adams doesn't
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: play in the Raiders game, right, you know, forget Justin Jefferson.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: There's no way he plays on Thanksgiving? Right, Uh speeds
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: of Fresnoy speak. Hey, that's a that's a stunning game.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: I was. It was just crazy. At first, it was
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: super exciting with Hey, maybe z that they can step
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: it up, But in the end, it's just like, I
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: don't know what I'm more frustrated about massive the defense. Um,
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: I was going to actually ask about what Justin justin
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: the last call I was asking about, but do a
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: variation on it. So assuming the House of Cards is
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: basically all falling apart and the season is kind of
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: slipping away. And that was the inflection point for that
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: last way last night, Like if they're not going to
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: be a playoff team, what is it that you're looking
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: for from from them the rest of the season, Like
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: what kind of signs of growth would you be looking for? Stabilization?
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Mike is Mac the guy was my anti. That's the
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: big one, because are you looking for a quarterback? Do
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: you have the quarterback? I mean the other stuff you
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: can put little pieces in, but I think that's the
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: big question you got to find out. And I would
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: start it this week because we've been talking about make
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: him the starter. Let him work through whatever he's got
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: to work through until you either feel like, all right,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: he's starting to work through it and he's showing signs
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: of progress and we feel good about his trajectory now,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: or he continues to play like he's been playing. He's
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: a turnover machine. The offense can't string two first downs
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: together with him playing, and then you know, yeah, he's
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: not He's not the guy. You know we were around
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: in two thousand and one when Bill famously said Tom
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Brady's our start, Our quarterback for the foreseeable future. That
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: put an end to the whole you know, questioning, and
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: I think it helped Brady and it helped his teammates. Okay,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: this is the guy that's gonna be you know, I'm
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: an offensive lineman. This is the guy behind me. I
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: know how he plays. He's different than Drew bledsoe you know,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: and I you know. So I think Bill needs to
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: do that this week. And he doesn't have to come
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: out and proclaim it to us, but he needs to
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: do it with the team in practice. Matt Jones is good,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: but I think but I think it would mean be
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: more impactful if he did it, yeah, publicly, because I
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: think that was the key in two thousand and one,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: right right, there were nobody nobody else was asking questions
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: about it. It ended, Yes, yeah, it ended. There was
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: like the that the fallout after that press carvage. Everybody
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: went in the locker room. We all talked to Drew.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Drew took the high road, even though he was he
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: gave a lot of next questions. He was pissed, but
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: you know, to meet question, you know, I understood her.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: I knew how emotionally was so I let it slide
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: for eight or nine years. This was his team, you know,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: so I get it. But Bill put an end to it, right,
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: and it was not it was not an issue. Now
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: I think that there's you know, I think there's a
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: big difference in that one guy was playing so much
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: far and away better than the other. Yeah, in in
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: this case, you watched last night, so you know, so
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: I wonder, like you know, with other head coaches, like now,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: this is the third time in Bill's career where he's
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: had like a quarterback decision to make, you know, going
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: back to Bernie Kozar, you know, yeah, what I mean,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: what do you do if you get to the end
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: of this year and you just you don't really believe
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: I mean, I mean I'm saying you're the coaching staff,
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: you just don't believe Max the guy, Like, you know, like,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: how do you approach it? You got to I mean,
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: he's under contract. I mean you could try to trade him.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: You've got Bailey Zappy who you know, maybe you could
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: trade Mac and just you know, kind of go with
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Zappy or you know, do you keep both of them,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: kind of compete and try to bring somebody else in
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: as well. Like I don't it's just a hard place
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: to be. What we talk about when you're in purgatory
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: in the NFL, it's like you're damned if you do
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: and you're damned if you don't. Yeah, you know, the
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: only thing that saves it is you know, you get
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: that first pick and then you then you can determine
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: your fate. But you know, right, otherwise you're searching every year.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: But oh, sorry, ahead. This makes me think about Paul's
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: statement that he's made about, you know, not having like
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: the guys these stars around the quarterback. Do you think
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: that it could help to get Mac Jones or Bailey Zappy,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: like that wide receiver one like that guy like a
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: DeVante Adams obviously hurt obviously not him, but help a
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: lot that would help, can't hurt. But I wonder if
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: like you go into next season get let's say, let's
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: say that it doesn't happen the way Mike is saying, like,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: you don't find out about Mac this year, and it
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: kind of like is shaping You're stuck in the middle.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: You mean, well, or like Mac plays but he's okay. Um,
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: you know, the high ankle sprain is not gone, by
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: the way, Like there's a chance that he misses more
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: time due to that ankle um because without having the
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: complete time to rest, like, it's not going to just
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: go away. So what if you get caught not you know,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: like he doesn't play great, Zappy plays a little bit.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: It's gonna be an open co petition going into camp
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: next year, Mac, I could absolutely see's like, you know,
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: I trade me, I'm out of here, Like I don't
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: want to, like I don't need this. Yeah, Like I
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: think there's a there's there's a chance for like a
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: really tumultuous offseason if it's not what Mike says, like
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: play Mac and find out if Max the guy. But
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: even that stinks, you know, like open competition and start
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: it's like it totally stinks. I'm saying that you avoid
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: that by just making the decision now and letting Mac play. Yeah.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: I thought it was interesting that he Max said, you know,
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I've been in this position before, Like I'm just gonna
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: go out there, I'm gonna practice, I'm gonna get back
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: into routine, and I'm like, you've been in this position before.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: I mean, is he comparing it to like, you know,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: when he was behind Jalen Hurts that's what that's what
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: he said. But he was never like he was never
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: in play, right, He was never the starter, and then
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: he got hurt and then he had to win his
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: job back. That never happened. But even like when he
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: was when he was like the fifth quarterback in the room,
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: he wasn't really in play. He beat out Bryce Young,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: yeah barely. Yeah his last year, Yeah, that's it. Yeah,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: like he didn't have he wasn't like in competition with
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts in TUA. But in his answer he went
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: back to Pop Warner and little Jimmy Sullivan. I remember
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: there was a quarterback he did say, Pop beat out
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Jimmy Sullivan is silly. That was a really awkward answer.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: I agree, he said, though that's Fret's not lying about that. No,
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: it's not. It's just it's just he answered that way
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: in the context of a question about leadership of the
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: team right now, it seemed like he was kind of
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: mentally turtling a little bit. It was a very strange response.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: I thought, it's got to be tough up there, because
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: you know that every word you say, he's going to
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: be it's going to come back to you afterwards. He's
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: getting dissected, but not only the the media, your own
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: your but also your own coaches are going to go
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: through and have their all their no what are you saying?
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: You know, Uh, it's it's a tough position. I kind
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: of feel bad for him. I do feel bad from him,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: but at the same time, I know that, Like the
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: first question on my mind is like, like if for
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: the rest of the season, if you're not gonna make
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: the playoffs, it's all about Mac, But the entire season
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: hasn't been all about Mac. Is he going to be?
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Is the franchise quarterback? I just wonder if there are
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: other things. There's so many holes to plug. I don't know,
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: he's wondering other things to be on the lookout for it,
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: keep open, interest alive and thanks for the car listen.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: In terms of the rest of the team, I think
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: they've got the makings of, you know, some players. I
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: think there's some good play, you know, like Barmore's got
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: to get healthy obviously, but you know, I think Jonathan,
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: there were some young guys that are making just some
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: young guys, and I think you can build. I think
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: you need an infusion of some talent though, and I
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: think next year. You gotta you gotta be aggressive, you know,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: and and spend a little bit of money draft well again,
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: you know, and I will you have to have you
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: can't just have one good draft. You have to have
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: a series of good drafts to get back up there.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: And I would also say, like, I think they have
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: some young guys making contributions, but there were a lot
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: of openings for young guys to step into. That doesn't
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: necessarily mean they're great just because they're playing. Like I
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: hear a lot of people are, Buddy Fitzie, I've heard
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks. Here's you know, all ten
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: draft picks played in the game. I mean, real happy
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: for you, Like, you know, it looks like it looks
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: like Marcus Jones is a dynamic return guy. Made a
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: really nice play on defense last night, but he's had
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: a very minimal role on defense. Jack Jones looks like
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: he's a ball hawking kind of defensive back. It's gonna
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: give up some plays, but he's gonna make some plays. Okay,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: you got a backup quarterback who played because you don't
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: want her to play, Like, I'm not really sure that's
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: a feather in anyone's cap. You know, you have a
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: guard who's playing out of complete necessity. He's been okay,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: he's not a bust, he's been okay. Cole Strange like yeah,
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: but like, don't confuse it with all these guys are playing,
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: so they're all, what a what a bang up draft?
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Sometimes that's right. Well, and like the thing for me
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: is none of it's really mattered. Like you look at
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: their production in twenty nineteen with the tight ends, they go, well,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: spend all this money on tight ends. There still getting
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: the same production on the tight ends. And all these
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: old linebackers last year, all these complaints about the defense
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: can't stop anybody getting new guys. They still can't stop anybody.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: So like nothing's changing, and the personnel has evolved a
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: little bit, certainly a quarterback, it's changed. It's changed within
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: this season. That's like what's frustrating to me is that
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: we're seeing the same movie over and that's another one
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: over again. Think back to the off season of twenty
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: twenty one, they had the free agency splurge like two
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: hundred and whatever million, and there were a lot of
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: analytical pieces telling you how many teams have done this
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: in the past, And I think Mike Reis had a
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: great breakdown that it almost always works in year one
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: and there's almost always a drop off in year two,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: and everybody laughed. Those teams don't coached by Bill Belichick. Okay, well,
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: which ones of those free agent acquisitions have been better
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: in year two? Well? So far, Jude On, I think
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: I think he's been the same. But I'll even give you.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: I'll give you that he's been better. I think he's
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: been the same. I mean after the last night's game,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: I'm not really prepared to say anybody right like Jalen
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: Mills looks to me to be far worse than he
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: was last year. I think he looked disinterested at times
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: last night. He wanted no part of tackling anybody. I'm
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: hoping by the end of the season will say John
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: hu Smith. The tight ends have been very quiet. Agalore
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: had a little splash early, He's now a non factor.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: Kendrick Bourne, I mean, we forget about in Devon. Gatcha
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: is a part of a defensive line that can't stop
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: the run. So I know he's the best defensive tackle
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: in football according to his coach, but he but he
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: can't stop the run. Parker might end up with better numbers.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: Parker's not a free agent splash from two years ago.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: Parker they traded for this year. Okay, oh, okay, yeah,
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: but I think, like all everything you're laying out, Paul,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: this is like it's just making me feel like, you know,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: Fred said, Oh, we're gonna have some money to spend.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, right, I'd rather be spending that money
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: on guys who are on the team that are good
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: that you want to retain. It's like, rather than another
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: one of those free agent spending speeds, which sounds great
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: at the time, than cap space club. You mean it
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: like if you're going to take some of that cap
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: space and and have a guy like let's just say,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: like the one, the one draft pick that I'm really
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: really like, sort of intrigued with this is Thornton, Okay,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: because I think he has a skill set to be dynamic.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: I don't know if he is, but I'm willing to
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: take some time here to find out. Let's say he
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: was like finishing year three and he was that guy.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: He's a guy that you're talking about up there with
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: like Justin Jefferson and those guys. No, now I have
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: the cap space. Let's splurge on keeping this guy right
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: and a deal that because this guy, this guy's a
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: different maker that I already have, I don't have to
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: worry about him fitting into my locker room, my system.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: I know he can, you know what I mean. That's
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: the kind of thing that I like the cap space for.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: So I don't have to let talented players go because
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: you know, that's what the dump teams do, Mike, And
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: then I think it's a question of do they have
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: the talent and the guys that they want to retain
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: that I have shown up, you know, And that's like
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: just the thought of another one of these free Asian
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: splurts is where all of a sudden you're getting all
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: these new guys and like, you know, the thing of
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: like retaining Jacobe Myers, where it's like, hey, here's a
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: guy to hold up as an example that came in
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: as an undrafted rookie who has performed and delivered no
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: matter who he's been playing with. He's you know, they
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: should be able to resign like and and will they
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: I don't know, we don't know, We don't don't know.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: But he's one of the few guys that you should
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: that you can say we developed him ourself. He's been productive.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: He's not in one a elite talented player that's going
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: to break the bank. So and I know we're getting
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: ahead of ourselves the off season. But John and Maine writes,
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: and this reminds me of the quarterback controversy between Hugh
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: Millen and Scott Zola. They both were terrible, but Zola
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: won a few games, so everyone was clamoring for him,
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: but neither one of them were very good. Time to
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: draft to Drew BLEDSOE do you think Bailey's Appy's building
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: a whole post football career here in New England by
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: his performance. That's a good job if you can get it.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: It's a great call right there. He's right. That happened. Yeah,
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: Zoe won a couple of games and everybody went crazy.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: I think it's the z I told you. It's it's
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: part of the Name's got personality too. There's something you know,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: he's likable. Chris with a great point, Paul, Chris, t
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: I a n what's up? Christian? That's a good point.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: You break up there, Paul, Well, and I think I
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: could be more depressed. But after being on hold, what
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: depression I was after last name. We're working through it
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: together here, um, and I just think they weren't ready
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: from Jump Street when they came out, they just right
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: away it was ten to nothing, and I was like, okay,
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: Chicago came to play, Um, are we going to show up?
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: And it kind of reminded me of like the twenty
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: twenty home game against the forty nine ers here where Yeah,
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: just from Jump Street that got smacked on the malt
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: and that was it, and I similar game. I really
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: don't have like numbers as far as you know, the
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: sort of the instances and how like these type of
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: games seem to be occurring more often to me for
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: some reason. Yeah, I think I saw something Mike and
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: I were talking about Christian. I think they've lost something
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: like five of the last seven home games or something
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: like that. There's a large percentage, and they've all been
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: by double digits, yeah, or the amount of or they
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: like Max lost like six or something of his last
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: eight and they've all been by double digits or something
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: like that. I mean, not good. Whatever it is. Yeah,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: the trend is not a good one. Yeah. Yeah. The
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: aura of Gillette Stadium is gone. Yeah it is. And
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: I Paul brought up a great point last week about
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: what does it say about your roster when you got
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: a sign Cannon and Collins. I mean, what does that
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: say about your team building? It just gets back to
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: what you guys talked about in the draft and all
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: that stuff. Um, it's just really really frustrating as a
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: fan when you look at it the amounts of missus
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: and then you got to have guys coming here to
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: to sort of you know, to fill in the gaps,
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: and then you still get smoked. Um. You know, it's
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: just it's crazy. But I do have a question for
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: the whole group. Has Bill lost team yet? No? No, okay,
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: you think, but but but we talked about like what
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: would it take for like Bill to lose his job,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: And I think we've said in the past, like it
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: would he would have to totally lose the team, you know. Yeah,
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: So keep an eye, keep an eye on the little things,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, to me, one of the little things
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: is a wide receiver saying it that's yeah, you know,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: that's not right. What happened last night. Yeah, it's the
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: second time. That's a sign to me that things aren't
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: exactly Yeah, great, you put that in the bucket along
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: with the instagrams. That's why I'm not willing to say
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: they haven't lost. I don't. I'm not telling you that
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: he's lost the team because I don't know. I don't
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: I haven't been in the locker room. Like, I couldn't
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: even tell you what the mindset. Now, if Fred asked
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: me the mood, I'd have to say, chiefs Rid, I
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: really don't know. I don't know what I mean. They
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: like just facts are facts. They just got thoroughly outplayed
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: by a team on national television that has had won
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: two games going into it that you know, by all accounts,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: they should have smoked. I mean, it's it's uncharted territory.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: I mean, they were like nine and a half point
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: favorites at some point the week and they they lost
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: by Eldred's in North Carolina. What's up Eldred? Hey? So listen, ladies,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: are you are y'all doing good? Well? You know what?
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: For twenty years, like I said, I enjoyed the high
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: and little loads, But this time I'm not enjoying the loads.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: I'm getting my butt kicked every date, every day. Now
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: I know how to feel it be down below the
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: we below the pack. We ain't in the pack, we
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: below the pack. Yeah, you know, but my question is this,
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: I know I don't think that was fair how he
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: did Mac And like I told you a couple of
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: weeks ago, if we're in the top five or ten,
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: I still draft a quarterback. I still would draft one
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: if you Yeah, if you're in the top five, absolutely
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: I would. But because that means you lost a lot
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: of games, even if you're in the ten, because I
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: don't know if you have a chance to get one
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: of those guys. Yeah, but I mean I think it's hard.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: But we know Bill won't do that. Bill a trade out,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: you know, that right to get more picks. We noticed, right,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: I boy don't like last time he had an opportunity
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: to pick a quarterback in the first round, he didn't
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: trade it. I would he took the quarterback, yeah, but
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: he could have traded up the one that I wanted.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Like I said, everybody said he he was a bus
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: but that's justin field. I see, say bad with a
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: bad team. Now, Like I said, we've been been with
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: Daniels last year and this year might be a little
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: bit better. They might have been, but like, yeah, I
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: mean it's hard to just automatically assume that. Yeah, and
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: I like Justin Fields, but he hasn't looked good as
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: a pro. Yeah. But but one more question, act y'all
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: because I gotta run real quick. Okay, we're talking about
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: the off season. I know you're talking a little bit
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: of all season and free agency, right a little bit? Okay,
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: how many free agency people you think will come and
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: you don't have a two office coordinator? Yeah, I don't
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: think that that's an issue. If you want a free agent,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: I think you just give them botload of money in
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: bam and you get it. Yeaham, That's how they did
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: it two years ago. They didn't have a quarterback, but
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: they overpaid for everybody. Yeah, but most people want to
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: win too. And and I think last I agree with Hardy,
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: you packed it in with twelve minutes. No, this least
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: fight to the end. I don't know care if three
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: points or se Yeah. I just disagree that they packed Yeah,
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: I thought they I think they threw the ball on
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: every play, Like I don't really understand, Like the Bears
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: weren't stupid like some teams aren't. They didn't allow you
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: to throw a bomb. They played everything underneath and they
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: made you check it down in the running back, so
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: you couldn't do Yeah. They number three in the pass
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: and yeah they number three, so they're good at debt. Yeah,
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: they are good at debt. Yeah, but I mean, you
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: weren't facing the Lions, all right, different, I gotta go,
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: Thank thanks, Aldred. Let's go to Jeff in California. Hey, Jeff, guys,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: what's going on? Hey, Hey Jeff guys. Hey, uh So,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: I just wanted to call and pick you guys brain
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: because during the off season, everybody was making the immediate
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: comparison of Mac making the second year jump to Burrow,
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: and during the off season I had called it it
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: put it to you guys whether or not it might
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: be more like a Mac to Baker Mayfield second year jump. Well,
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: you were right. Seems like we're trending a little more
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: in that direction now, yeah, yeah, I mean, I do
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: wonder how much teams have watched Mac. Now, you know,
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: he's now played twenty two games, He's eleven and eleven,
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: He's got twenty one picks in twenty two games, And
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: I wonder how much teams have sort of watched him
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: and said, these are the things he did, these are
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: these are the trends, these are these are the things
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: we have to watch for. And there's a there's a
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: book out on him. Now, I do why I worry
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: about that. Yeah, it's not. Yeah, And I don't know
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: if you guys noticed it last night, because they had
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: it on the broadcast. I kind of flashed it real quick.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: They made a big deal about. I think it was
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: the second TD where Mac came off the sideline and
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: walked up to Bailey Zappy and congratulated him. Yeah, after
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: the second T But I don't know if you guys
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: noticed it because they flashed it on the broadcast. I
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: think it was on the first t D And when
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: that happened, they went to Mac pasting on the sideline,
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: and I swear to God, the moment that they flashed
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: to him, he dropped an F bomb right after the
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: TD and the whole crowd was going nuts. Oh really, yeah,
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Marine Colo Matt says he saw the same thing. Lapan
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: and I both saw and commented on it. What do
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: you think he was f bombing the fans or the situation?
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: The situation. I think I think it was the situation.
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: I think he was. He realized and I text my
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: brother about this right when it happened, I said, and
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: Mac never played again because I just I think you
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: I think, like, my thought is, I think they lost
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: him last night, and I think what you guys touched
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: on the fans are partly to blame. Yeah, I think
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: they might have lost him. Well, I think they lost him,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: but I don't I don't necessarily say they lost him forever.
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: But yeah, they did lose him last night. It seems
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: to me though from the post game, and you can't
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: really judge, but from his post game, it seems like
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: he got talked to in a positive way from Bill,
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: like because when he came out in the post game,
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: he seemed to be on board. You know, I thought
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: he was trying to convince himself. I gotta be honest
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: with you. Maybe, but I wouldn't go with the onboard thought. Okay,
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: I thought, I agree with Jeff. I'm not telling you
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: they lost him forever, thanks Jeff, because the other guy
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: didn't play well. If the other guy played well last night, yeah,
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: I think you'd a lost him forever. Oh yeah, but
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: they could still get him back. They're just gonna have
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: to work at it. Alex and Englewood New Jersey. What
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: a rough primetime game. That was a beatdown. I feel
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: like Matt tried to play a bit of hero ball,
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: go out and show the fans he's better than Zappy.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: Do you all believe that could be a possibility? I
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: didn't see that. Also, we can pause that. Can we
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: pause the Zappy fever and just let Mack get back
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: to the number one? I wrote in before the season
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: started and called it a seven and ten season. This
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: game certainly doesn't help me feel we will be any
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: better than that. I expect a rebound with the Jets
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: in them to put up a much better fight than
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: last night. I think they will. Oh yeah, yeah, I
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: mean I think. I mean, the Jets are are feeling
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: it right now. They've won some games, I mean, won
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: an opportunity for them. I mean, of all the things
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: that have changed since you know, twenty eighteen, here like
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: the one thing that hasn't as the Patriots keeps smacking
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: the Jets around, like regardless of it's Cam Newton or
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: you know, Mac Jones. So I think I think the
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: Jets they got something to prove in this game. I
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: think they're gonna come out car. They've had some injury
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: issues this week. I can't believe I'm saying this, but,
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: like the Breeze Hall injury to me is an enormous
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: break for that I've never thought i'd worry about, like
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: a big injury for the Jets going into a Patriots game.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: But that's that's a huge break. Yeah, this this email
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: made me laugh. George and Madison New Jersey named this coach.
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: I attended Wesleyan University. My first coaching position was with
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: the Baltimore Colts. I won six Super Bowl rings as
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: head coach and two as defensive coordinator at two different organizations.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: I'm widely considered to be the best football coach of
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: all time and a defensive genius. Yet I've never heard
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: of a quarterback spy? Who am I? That made me
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: like Patricia? That made me like RPI? I just going
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: by everybody. Everything gets blamed on Ma, Patricia, not Bill.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: Let's see people calling in. It's a big show. Thank you,
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: every big show. But we rarely get to talk the
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: day after a game. Decompressed. Chad's in LA. What's up? Chad? Hey? Everyone?
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: How you doing today? Good chat? It's been better? Uh?
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: A couple questions? Um, the the lady that lived in Chicago.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: That kind of gave everyone, um, a little bit of
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: a warning. Yeah, Todd talked about that earlier on a call.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Yeah do you think that's legit? Okay? And then, um,
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: rarely do I blame coaching for you know, what happens
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: in the game. I feel like, you know, one of
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: the greatest of all times would have been able to
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: you know, I mean, prepare the team and do all
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: those things. So if there was a breakdown, what is it?
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: And then my last question is, you know, of course
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: about Zappy and h Jones, I feel that it was
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: unfair to Zappy. I mean, he had a winning streak.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: Rhythm is important, and I just feel like they kind
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: of gave that a way in order to try Jones again.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: And even though he came out strong, I still think
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: you know that that Myers play, that that disrupted handoff
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: might have shook him a little bit. Yeah. Wait, what
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: is the thing about the the coaching, No, the Myers thing, like, well,
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: the fumbled handoff is Zappy didn't give it to him,
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: Like what is it like it was, Oh yeah, the
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: ball never got into Myers hands. Okay, because the announcers
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: made it sound like he hit him on the numbers
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: and Myers dropped it. It was a handoff, got a
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: pass and it never really got in. Like I think
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: both guys are at fall, but I mean, Zappy is
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: the guy responsible on a play like that, And I
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: mean I think there's an element of Zappy wasn't quite
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: as bad as everybody thinks he was with this, and
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: he was terrible in that game last night. He had
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: a little spark when he came in, mostly because Jacoby
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: Myers made an incredible catch and then he went. I mean,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: he played the balance of the game and they scored
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: fourteen points. Right, He played three quarters and scored fourteen points,
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: just like in Green Bay he played three plus quarters
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: and scored like seventeen points. Like, they haven't been overly
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: productive with the exception of the Cleveland game offensively. What
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: would you do if Mack is healthy? Man, Mac would
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: be my quarterback. I wouldn't really have a decision to make.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: But evidently he's not healthy, so I don't know. I
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: don't know what I would do. What if he has
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: two picks in the game, would you would you change
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: it out Atack? No? If Mac is healthy, he'd be
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: my quarterback. But he's saying during the game, I wouldn't
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: change him out if he's healthy, right, I agree, I think, yeah,
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: I think I'm with Mike, like you have to find out. Yeah,
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: pick one. You're gonna just keep going back and forth.
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: And then Zappy goes in. He throws two interceptions. All right,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: we're back to Mack like you just you have to
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: find out. With Mac, I think. I mean that's fair,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: that's fine, that's fair. Yeah, he's played better than Mac
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: Jones in in twenty two. There's no question. All right,
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: thanks Chad M happ in Colorado, says Fred, I realize
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: you couldn't stand my watching McCall a candy bars, but
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: humor me, please as I continue to beat this drum.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: If Belichick selects a draft pick based on positional need
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: or the best player left on the board, no disrespect
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: to Bailey, but why did he choose a quarterback to
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: back up second year Mac with Hoyer on the team
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: and other veterans out there. That is arguably Zappy wasn't
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: the best player left in the fourth He was chosen
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: because of a suspected need. Coach had doubts about Mac,
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: and now, whether Belichick intended it or not, there is
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: a quarterback controversy. Perhaps Zappy makes better decisions, relatively better passes,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: such as swing passes to the backs downfield balls and Mac.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Perhaps Zappy has comportment better suited to starting in the NFL.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: That might be true. The rest of it I don't
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: agree with. However, if Belichick really made the interesting choice
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: of Zappy based on presumptive need, then why have Mac
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: as a captain, et cetera, et cetera. In any event,
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: it all really boils down to the O and D lines.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: Without those being core strengths, were in trouble regardless, Thank
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: you a team. You make even the tough seasons and
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: times better. Luncheon me next month after I make some
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: moonlighting cash. Okay, all right, don't spend it on us,
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: you know. Yeah. I was one of the very few
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: that brought that up as a possibility. I don't know
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: the answer, but at the draft I wondered if this
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: was sort of a hedge or if it was just
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: good business. I always think it's good business the draft
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: quarterbacks here, but I did wonder if there was an
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: element of, you know, we want to develop a young
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: guy so he has someone that he legitimately perceives as
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: competition as opposed to a thirty six thirty seven year
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: old guy who's really just there in case of emergency. Yeah,
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: my only thing is just I think maybe it's just
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: unfortunately because of his size, it's just happy looks to
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: me like career backup. Like yeah, I mean, and I
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: know that it is what it is. But but there's
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: not a huge difference in their sizes there. Really it's
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: like one inch, yeah, maybe an inch and a half
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: in Max's favors a big inch though Nick in Kansas
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: first looks smaller in his uniform. Yeah, first off, and
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: he looks like the kid from Hoosiers first off, switching teams.
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: I'm a zappy guy. Now. Belichick said that his decision
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: to put zappy and wasn't performance based, but I'm not
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: buying it. Mac had some scrambles, had picked up a
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: few yards, but I think he was scrambling to show
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: Bill that he was healthy and could play. Clearly, his
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: ankle wasn't a problem, it was his ability to connect
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: with receivers. Zappy brings that he cooled off in the
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: second half, But for what the coaches were asking of him,
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: I think he did over first. I hope Mac doesn't
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: become another Harry or Win. Not saying we should trade
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: him this season, but we should get rid of him
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: while he still has some upside. I just wow. Yeah,
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: I at this point, I'm just I don't know what
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: I want. But I think back to the year two jump.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: I have not seen a Year two jump. I forgot
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: who asked that question, but it's just I feel like
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: I think Mike was saying this as I walked in
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: when you guys were talking about I think he came
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: in and showed us the same thing that he was
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: doing before he got injured. And just not I'm just
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: not excited about either those guys. And I get that
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: like some people, I see Bailey Zappy is something new
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: that you haven't explored yet, and but I don't really
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: see anything out of these two guys that makes me
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: think that they're gonna get you back to where you
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: want to be, competing with Buffalo in Kansas City with
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: that kind of team. So you want to go with Zapp,
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: be fine, but I think you need to aim a
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: little You probably saim a little higher if you're ready
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: to already move on from Mac. Yeah, yeah, I think
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: both of them could be, especially Mac. He can be competent,
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: but you gotta block for him. You know, he's gonna
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: he needs things to be right. Yeah, he needs things
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: to be right. He's not gonna win games on his own,
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: you know. It's it's just it's been disappointing, and I
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: think seeing him back out there last night, it just
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: kind of, you know, just brought the disappointment back out
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: of just remembering looking at him last year, seeing a
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: comfortable guy, looked like he was in control and confident.
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: And I don't want to see he looks broken right now,
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: because I think that's too extreme, but he just is.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: And seeing anything like saw all the more reason declare
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: him the starter and let's go. Let's put our full
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: organizational support behind him and see what we've got, and
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: see what we have definitively. So would you be mad
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: if they did that to ZAPPI? Um, well, only in
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: the fact that I think Mac is better. But at
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: least they'd be making a commitment. At least they'd be
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: you know, moving in a in a solidly in one direction.
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: At least you'd have that. I would disagree with the
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: person they did it with, but at least they're doing
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: it with somebody. Yeah, but I think it should be mad.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: I need a decision to be made before this Jets game. Like,
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: if Max's ready to go, and he's good enough to start,
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: he plays the whole game. If he goes, there's four
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: picks in the first half, don't care, plays the whole game. Yeah, Like, yeah, sorry,
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: he wants to fight his battles and figure it out.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: Ye I wouldn't. You don't care. I wouldn't really care.
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: I mean, I agree generally with the point of Fred
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: that I think that I think that Mac has a
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: slightly higher ceiling, but I'm not really It certainly hasn't shown.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: That's the only thing I would say. But I would
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: agree with that. I would agree with the panel. If
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: I had to choose, you're asking me to choose, I
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: would choose Mac. But I think it's more important that
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: they simply choose. Yeah, choose and stick with it, Like
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: you can't change her. Like if obviously, if he reaggravates
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: his ankle and he doesn't feel well, yeah, but Baileien, Yeah,
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: but it's different yeh. But but if he goes out
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: there and you take him out because he threw two picks. No,
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: leave him in there. You have the blue pill or
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: the red pill? Which pill will you choose? What's what
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: movie is that? Paul? No, no idea? Okay what movie is?
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: You're gonna tell No, you don't like the matri see it. No, procedurally,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: you don't like your don't. As Mac would say, I
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: like my routine. My routine is lawn order and that's
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: what I'm sticking quick you and my wife. Yeah, I
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: mean it's like background noise. It's always on it. They're
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: gonna prosecute it. They're gonna take you from Apple's tonight.
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: Um let's go to Cody and Fresno. What's up? Cody? Hey, guys,
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: Just to touch on what you guys we're saying right now,
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: I agree that consistency is key across the board, whether
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: an offensive play calling or personnel on the field. You know,
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: they really can't get it going without consistency. But um
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: my point to calling, I don't know if you got
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: touched on it. The tip balls from Zappy? Is that
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: really his fault or where the Bears just they just
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: showed up last night? No, I think I think Bears
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: had their hands up. What you're supposed to do with
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: any quarterback. But like there are quarterbacks who have more
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: tip balls than others, it's their faults. There's gonna be
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: one of those things. It's going to start to annoy me.
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: It's like, as this week is gonna go on, you're
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: gonna be told that Bailey Zappy wasn't quite as bad
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: as you think he was last night telling you trying
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: to figure out Paul. Yeah, he said you played terribly,
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: but he did outside of the three turnovers, you know,
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: the handoff as his fault, I give him that, and
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: you know the two the two interceptions off the pig,
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: you know those are unfortunate because if they weren't it,
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: were they going to be completed? Were there's going to
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: be Aaron passive? Well, what about the errant passes that
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: he did throw? I thought one of his biggest complete
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: one of his biggest completions in the second half. I'm
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: completely convinced he overthrew Hunter Henry in Taekwon Thornton made
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: a sliding catch. Now maybe I'm wrong, maybe he was
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: targeting Thrownton all along, but I mean Henry jumped for
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: that ball, so if he knew he wasn't the intended receiver.
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: I don't think you would have done that, but and
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: Paul had Henry you I was in. I squeaked one out. Cody.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: It was close, and I hate you know how much
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: I hate fantasy, but I need it now, I need it.
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: I'm all in, How did you do that? I won
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: by six points the Max Baby comparison. I mean, didn't
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: do anything good? No, I mean the pick was absolutely
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: his fault. Absolutely totally agree. And when Dad comes in
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: and gives us that spark of life, you get hope. Yeah,
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: I thought ZAPPI made one play and Mac didn't make any. Yeah,
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: the play to the play to Parker. I give that
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: play to Zappy. I think that was a great throw
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: to Parker. That's it. That's all I got. Yeah, all right, Cody,
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: I mean really, I mean the two scoring drives were
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: a total of seven plays, and they will they both
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: involved one player in each drive, and one of the
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: plays on the first drive was all Myers. Yeah. Like,
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: and to your point, he started at better field position
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: they did. I mean, the two quarterbacks did very little
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: last night, and I agree with Cody. Mac Jones didn't
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: make any positive plays. Really, I'm just confused, Like why
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: Mac hasn't had a great second year just because like
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: in the off season he lost his way, got born
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: in shape, was at nutritionists, all the things like okay,
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: you go back to okay, worked in the elements, he said,
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: he working different elements, Like, oh, he did all the
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: right things. So what's the issue. I don't know, Like,
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: but you got to look at McDaniel's leaving and taking
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: at least three other offensive coaches with him, and then
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: they bring in Patricia and Judge and and not and
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: on top of that they try to install a new offense.
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: Like is that part of it? I don't know. But
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: but those those are things that happen. Those are facts. Now,
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: did they negatively affect mac in the offensive? You have
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: to look at that. You have to consider it. You
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: have to consider it because they happen. Those were things
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: that happened in the offer. In addition to the positive
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: things that he took care of himself. He got leaner,
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: he got stronger, he worked out with his you know,
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: um his wide receivers on his own. Those are all
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: good things. These other things happen too. Were they good
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: or bad? Yeah? And I would trace it back to
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: last year too. I mean some of those games at
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: the end of the season, they look similar to what
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: we're seeing now. So I mean, I don't see it
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: as like everything was perfect when we last saw maclast winner,
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: and now we came back and everything has gone completely sideways,
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: like it's it's been a while, And I think Fall's
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: point is like teams getting a sense of what they
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: like to do with him. I think that that's that's
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: a valid part of it too. As we got to
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: the off season, I think everybody sort of stepped back
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: forgot about the way the season ended and looked at
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: the entirety of the rookie season and said, pretty good, right,
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: ten and seven, pretty good, ignoring the fact that he's
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: two and seven now it was last nine games. Yeah,
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: and again like this isn't a negative like slant. He's
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: eleven and eleven with twenty one picks in twenty two games.
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: Like that's what Mac Jones's career is, so basically the whole,
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: Like instead of fixating on the other rookie quarterbacks last year,
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: who none of which had none of whom had any
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: success except for Mac. Yeah, and by the way, great,
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: real happy for you, but he didn't have a lot
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: of success either. You know, by the way, averaging a
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: pick a game in the season isn't that bad if
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: you're throwing for forty touchdowns, you know, with thirty five
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: seventeen touchdowns is a high number in today's NFL. Seventeen
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: intercept I mean intercept. Yeah, that's a high number in
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: today's NFL. Now, if you want to throw forty five
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: touchdowns and you're making some mistakes, I can live with that. Yeah,
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: But if you're like thirty two touchdowns seventeen picks, that
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: ain't great. Yeah, that ain't great. You gotta be you
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: gotta be under fifteen, I would say, to be one
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: of the better quarterbacks, and like the best ones are
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: in single digits. I mean, like, what's Aaron Rodgers throw
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: like four now this year? He's a mess. Who knows
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: how many picks he's gonna end up with. But I'm
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: just saying, like I think there's this sort of feeling
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: that he accomplished more than he did. That's why I
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: asked the question a little while ago to you guys
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: like he just needs to name Mac the starter and
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: go with it. Well, what if he just says I'm
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: just gonna name Zappy the starter? And go with it. Well,
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: I would disagree with who he chose, but I would
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: agree with the commitment. Yeah, I would agree with because
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: like and I think it was Cody who just called
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: right And to his point, Bailey, Zappi's played better than
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: Mac Jones this year, right, Yeah, that's what's hard. I
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: just I can't remember the last time I was impressed
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: with Mac playing a game like, I mean, Jacksonville last year,
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: I guess, but that was Jacks played well in Baltimore
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: this year, you know, for part of the game. It's like,
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: it's like that. But I'm gonna be fair. I don't
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: want to give Zappy all the credit for playing well
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: last night when it was two drives, right, like it
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: was two quarters and then the other two quarters back
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: through three picks. Right, you means Zappy no against Baltimore
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: against Baltimore. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that was probably one
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: of his better games. But it involved no touchdowns and
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: three interceptions. Ye. Let's go to Scott and Wellesley. What's
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: up Scott? Scott? Oh? Sorry, all right, Let's go to
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: Brian and Florida. What's up? Brian's gone? What's going on here?
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: Everybody's bailing? How about Josh and Dallas. Hey everyone, Hey,
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: Josh artist gears to uh to the defensive side of
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: the ball. And if this has already been stated earlier,
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: then forgive me. But they flashed the dat up on
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: the screen last night that said something like the Bears
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: converted more third down last night than they had since
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: two thousan fifteen, I think correct. I believe the color
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: was the quarterback and Matt Forte was a running back,
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: so that's just correct. Twenty fifteens the last time they
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: had eleven third down conversions in one games. So that
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: was disappointing to to see, especially considering, you know, they
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: even said on the broadcast usually in these kinds of games,
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: Belichick is going to make you uh find another way
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: to beat him. And it felt like they were pretty
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: much on par with the rest of the games they
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: played this season in terms of rushing attempts, field passing attempts.
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: And so I'd love to just shoot your thoughts on
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: whether you think that breaks down to coaching schemes or
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: was it just xes and OSM. Even in the Brady era,
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: there were some games where the Patriots would play a
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: team that they don't face a lot and all of
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: a sudden, like Matt Flynn from Green Bay looks like
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, you know, and it's almost like Bill gets
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: stubborn about his game plan. Well like and you don't
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: he didn't know the game plan. He didn't. Yeah, that's
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: what it is. And I think last night he had
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: that that line during the week that Chicago hasn't run
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: and run any design runs for Justin Fields, and they
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: came out with a lot of design runs the other
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: team game plans and he didn't know the game plan.
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: I think that more often than not, he's the best,
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: so his game plan is accurate to what the other
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: team's going to try to do. Last night it wasn't. Yeah,
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: you know, when you're talking about a coach there that
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: he's relatively new too and doesn't have a he doesn't
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: have like a dossier that Bill could look at and say, Okay,
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: this is his patterns, these these are his tendencies. You know,
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: A conundrum for you at last year j and Indy
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: writes in it seems to me that mac Jones is
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: operating at a four G frequency in the NFL is
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: operating at five G. He is an iPhone six. The
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: NFL is an iPhone twelve. Poor Mac. Yeah, I feel
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: bad for Mac. But like, if you feel like that,
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: what do you feel like ZAPPI is operating now? Zappy
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: sort of an Android? He's not, He's an android? Uh?
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: The fold up one, the new Sam Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: you think that he's high tech. Phone still always chumps
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: anything that Andrew would do. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, Andrew
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: can keep coming out with cool phones, and it's just
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: it's never going to be folded up phone is really cheap.
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: Oh really? Oh okay, I misunderstood the analogy. Jay and Indy.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: I can't let the olds talk. Yeah, over in the corner,
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: J and Indy, I heard it said that Bill Belichick
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: is a great coach, and some would say he's the
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: greatest of all time. But why does it seem that
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: he's been getting out coached by other teams coaches so
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: much in recent years. Well, that's what happens when you lose,
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: you know, So what happens when you don't have better players? Yeah? Right, exactly,
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: you know, Um he says exactly in a way like
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: I'm thinking the opposite. Maybe he wasn't the greatest, because
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: I don't know what is the greatest I'm gonna try
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: this email in case, how can you ever know? I
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: gonna try this email? Even an amazing coach never won
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: a game, but he could come out. He was the best.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: Lee and Fall River writes in do you remember the
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: days when players wore the pat Patriot logo? Top gun
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: was out, Kate Bush was on the radio, Daniel LaRusso
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: and Johnny were doing karate, and we pulled the first round,
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: fifteenth overall quarterback to go with a later round draft
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: guy in the draft drafted after one hundred while getting
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: smoked by the Bears. That would be Tony Easton. I
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: would imagine. No, the more things changed, Tony Easton was
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: eighty three. Oh yeah, it's a famous class. There's big
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: time class and all that stuff is going on now. Yep,
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: I think that's his point. Yeah, the pat Patriot, Patriot,
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: pat Patriot And going back new season of pretty good Cobra. Kay.
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: I haven't seen it. I heard it's uh decent, it's better. Yeah.
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: The last the last couple I wasn't huge on, but
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: this one I got. This season was worth it. There
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: was some good. Uh what season is five? What show
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: we I was talking about? Four or five? Four? So
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: I means I have to see three of all. I know.
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: I saw the Yeah, she doesn't watch anything. There's no law,
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: there's no order. Heard of the karate Yea. The show
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: Oh Okay Cobra Kai Okay, based on the original Audrey
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: and New Hampshire says people are forgetting that the number
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: one thing that seems to mess up young quarterbacks is
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: a change of scheme and a change of coach. That's
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: exactly what has happened to Mac. And he's being judged
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: as if he's all been if it's all been steady,
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: just because Bill is still in charge. I simply can't
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: look at Max's performance without this important dynamic. It's unfortunate,
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: but I don't think we can make a fair assessment
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: at this time. Man. I mean, I think that's a
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: fair like extenuating circumstance. I just don't think it explains
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: his play completely. Yeah, I mean I think. But a
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: part of it too is just for me, Like I
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: thought they were doing everything to make it easier on it.
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: I think they changed the offense to help him, things
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: like that's what I like, why else would you do it?
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: I mean I think it was It doesn't looked like
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: I mean the driving point, Like if Josh McDaniels didn't leave,
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: I don't think they would have changed the offense. But
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: what they did was they used it as an opportunity
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: to change the offense for him. Like they did it
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: because of the coaches. That was the reason that we're
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: going to change this, because we have coaches coming in
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: and don't know the other offense. Yeah, so we're going
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: to teach them this. But while we're doing it, it's
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: going to be catered to you, Matt Jones. And everyone
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: goes through this all the time, like all the things
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: that they're doing differently than last year or all things
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: that should be right in Max wheelhouse and they haven't
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: really manifested. That's what's so weird. That's what's so weird. Um,
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: let's see. Dave writes in from Toronto, first time emailer,
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: a long time listener regarding size Paul's inference that our
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: two quarterbacks are the same size. I didn't say they
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: were the same size. I said they're both small. Because
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: this isn't correct. One six three Matt Jones is six
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: foot two inches five and five eighths. Bailey Zappy is
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: six foot zero inches and a half two inch difference
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: different difference of two point one two five in the
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: NFL is huge. Combine this with the arm length difference
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: for tip balls see below. So there's a significant arm
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: length difference between the two UM measurements on that. Yeah,
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: he says it's He says it's significant. One is um
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: has a wingspan of seventy four and three quarters, the
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: other has seventy nine and one eighth. So, uh, that
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: puts Mac in the twenty ninth percent tile and Bailey's
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: in the ninetieth percent. Tyler the other way around, they're
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: both small. So Bailey's got a long arms. Sure, I mean,
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: you can give me a numbers both snow, I'm sorry. Yeah,
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: Mac has seventy nine in an eighth so he's in
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: the ninetieth percent times long. Yeah, but in terms of
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: arm length it's not that much different. Although Mac is
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: thirty two when five aids puts him in the seventieth
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: percent time, why are we doing this? And Bailey is
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: thirty one and three eights puts him in the twenty
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: eight percent? Time? We are both small, by the way,
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: for NFL standards, they're both small for quarterback standards. Yes,
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: for NFL quarterback standards. They're both small, Yeah, particularly when
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: you take into account that neither of them is a
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: dynamic athlete. Like if you're small and Russell Wilson in
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: his prime, you can get away with it, or you
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: have the aptitude of like Drew Brees in his prime,
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: you can get away with it. I haven't seen that
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: for either one of these two guys. Right, A couple
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: more calls, Patty and Agaham, what's up? Patty? Stop everyone? Hey,
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: So you know last night when I turned on the
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: pregame show, Maas started with her big key was don't
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: do anything stupid. And I'm sorry, but going into the
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: game planning to play two quarterbacks was flat out stupid.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: I don't I really don't understand the logic of it.
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: I mean, I could say two examples and my football
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: and the thirty plus years I've been watching football. One
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: was in two thousand with Drew Bledsoe and Michael Bishop.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: But I mean you had a known commodity with Drew
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: and you were I mean you were trying to pretty
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: much give crap. Yeah, that was different. See, I I
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: don't know this, but I think this is Bill covering
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: up for his quarterbacks. Him saying that, so that if
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: I do have to yank a guy for performance, we
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: can say it was the plan. Yeah, and I think
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: he's covering up it's quarterback, and I think he thinks
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: he's doing them, you know. So you think he put
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: that out there before the game and Casey had to
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: do it. Yeah. I said, I said this to Alex
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: during the game. I said, watch like in the post game,
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: Bill is going to be asked why he pulled him
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: when he did, and he's going to say, oh, it
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: was designed that way all along. We were only going
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: to play him this amount of stabs. It just so
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: happened that it happened after a pick. I was like,
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: he's probably gonna say that, and he's going to say
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: it wasn't performance based. But he didn't. But I think
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: he said it wasn't planned. They didn't have a plan
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: on when to take when. Yeah. Yeah, any doubt he
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: doubled down on that this morning. None of it makes sense.
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: None of it makes sense. Do you think it was
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: stupid to play both of them? I agree, yeah, And
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: I think you just you gotta live and die with
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: one of them. I mean, if if if you get
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: mac a break for another week. So what I mean,
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: if you get who cares what the end result is,
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: even if they still would have gotten blown out, that'd
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: be playing the whole game or mac playing the whole game.
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: Just I mean, to me, that's this is like, this
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: is a kind of crap where you can lose your
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: locker room. What's doing doing stuff like this? And yeah,
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: I don't know. I said last night, I'm I'm resetting
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: my expectations for this team. I thought that this could
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: be a ten win team. To me, they'd be lucky
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: to win anywhere between like four or five games this year. Now,
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: I don't know. Man, Yeah, that's that's really harsh. It's bad.
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: I know, I know. Thanks. You know. Here's the other
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: thing about Bill, and people have said it before, like
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: he doesn't look at quarterback is much different than any
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: other position, you know, but it is. But he says
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: it is all the time. Yeah, he says that that
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: there's a uniqueness to that position. He says that all
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: the time. Okay, well then you know then the speculation
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: is wrong. But I agree, No, I agree with you.
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: And that's how he that's how he acts. It's not
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: what he says, but it's how he acts. Yeah, I
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: agree with you, but the quarterback position is completely different
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: than every other position out there. Yeah, you know, like
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: do you remember when, like the Miami game, all of
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: a sudden Cole Strange get out the sack. He got
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: run right by and then he sat out the next
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: two series, Like you could do that and like no
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: one bats an eye, you know, or Isaiah Wynn and
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: Marcus Cannon in Cleveland. Right, you can't do that and
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: expect it to just fly under the radar at quarterback, like,
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: no one's going to talk about it. No one in
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: the locker room is going to say something about it
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: or think something about it. It's even worse than than
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: saying it thinking it. If there's some people like, well
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: what do we do? And now you know what's happening.
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: There are guys that are zappy guys, and there are
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: guys that are matt guys. You know what's happening. It
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: has to it's human nature. All right, we're gonna have
