What happened
AlterNet reports that Hasan Piker sued CNN contributor Scott Jennings in federal court in Washington, D.C., alleging defamation and seeking $72.5 million in damages. The complaint concerns an August broadcast on Jennings’s Salem radio show, where Jennings said Piker was “calling for Black voters to be lynched.”
According to the lawsuit, the underlying clip combined excerpts from three streams and removed context showing that Piker was describing and mocking someone else’s remark. AlterNet says the clip circulated through the National Republican Senatorial Committee before…
