- 0:18Hello, and welcome to Gatesleepers, the pop culture game show that shines a
- 0:22spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your games master and strutting billionaire in an
- 0:27oversized suit Matt Watson. Yes, and we couldn't play these games without our
- 0:32team captains, a pair of generational talents ready to grease up and smack down.
- 0:38First, don't treat her like a woman. Don't treat her like a
- 0:41man. Treat her like an order. Stevenson. Hello, it's me.
- 0:46And if you smell the literal food he's cooking, it's Jason Newell. Wow,
- 0:52that's amazing. That's me, that is you. Hello, Captains,
- 0:56are you ready for a series of games about the most iconic and most for
- 1:00vusial era in w w A history. I guess I don't know anything.
- 1:07This is a wrestling episode. This is basically Yeah, classically, Jason doesn't
- 1:11know much about wrestling. I've been learning, but Jason definitely doesn't know anything
- 1:15about wrestling. Pre meeting Matt and Audre I the Rock right, you told
- 1:23me that that's correct. That's the correct era. Great Ray Visterio, John
- 1:26Cena not so much. Okay, Well, this is gonna go swimming.
- 1:34I only barely knew that Ray Mysterio was not Attitude Era. Oh wow,
- 1:42But I do know a bit more Attitude Era in the sense of just through
- 1:48osmosis. It is the time period when the most the most sexist, and
- 1:53the most controversial things have happened in wrestling, And so I know those pieces
- 2:00via osmosis, and so I'm ready. I'm ready to tap into the recesses
- 2:04of my mind and what I have learned a cover time, ready to tap
- 2:07into the propaganda that WW have put out about about what the ad yes about
- 2:12the most important things. Yeah, never exactly. Can you name any any
- 2:15other attitude or wrestlers beyond the Rock? I feel like it was the triple
- 2:21h h b K time frame. HBK kind of missed it. Oh he
- 2:24missed it, Yeah, most of it. I don't know. China.
- 2:28Yeah, China, that'll do. Oh so the whole country of China.
- 2:31Yeah, so like yes, yeah, then that Well, we'll get into
- 2:38you. I think I think you know your stuff. I think you I
- 2:42think you've got some knowledge there. But it really sounds like to play these
- 2:46games about the Attitude Era, you'll each need to pair up with a fellow
- 2:49Beefcake in order to become the tag team champions of the World. So,
- 2:53Jason, who is your teammates today? He's a returning player. He hosts
- 2:59the ten exc podcast and he's really going to help me out today. It's
- 3:01Graham Robertson. Hello, Graham, how are you doing. Hello, I'm
- 3:06doing great. Thanks, thanks for having me on. Welcome, Welcome back.
- 3:07It's good to have you back on the podcast. You're very competitive gate
- 3:10Leapers player from from memory, I am, and we're entering an area I
- 3:15have a strong pride about as a host of a wrestling podcast. Someone that
- 3:21was what ching at the time, I'll be as a very small child,
- 3:25arguably shouldn't have been maybe shouldn't have been watching? Oh my god, no,
- 3:32and it was. Yeah, there was one child I think I was
- 3:36not allowed to watch after I hit my sister in the head with a folding
- 3:38chair. Is that a real story? That is a that is a genuine
- 3:44thing that happened. Oh my society? Probably why at home? Yeah,
- 3:52I didn't really listen to that. It was the late nineties. Come on,
- 3:59and I was like six years old. Command Yeah, but like I
- 4:01was supposed to do your cage fighters next weeks. That was the start of
- 4:11the core memory. But yeah, so some attitude or knowledge. You feel
- 4:15like you've got the pride of hosting a wrestling podcast, so you feel like
- 4:19you should win. Yes, but that's like all the wrestling I watched.
- 4:23Like, I think the last time I watched attitude stuff was when the network
- 4:28came out, which I don't even can remember when that was. Okay,
- 4:32you should probably know because of the next that's true. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:39good stuff, good stuff. I think I think you're gonna help out Jason
- 4:41and you're going to be a good team, strong team. And ultra who
- 4:44is joining you. He's a returning player, an executive producer, and the
- 4:48former prediction champion of our very own in house league. It's Adam Wood.
- 4:55Hello, Adams Dirty. I'm sorry fighting in our faction already. You know
- 5:04I and I didn't want to get into it, but I would like to
- 5:09let everybody know that before I lost the title recently to the commissioner, the
- 5:15guy in charge, Matt, So you know, I don't know, I'm
- 5:18not gonna say that there's foul play, but you know, take take that
- 5:23information and do what you want with it. But right before that, I
- 5:26did absolutely kick Graham's ass to retain? Was that all out? Wow?
- 5:32Was that the show where I did my predictions while live in the crowd?
- 5:40Yeah? Yeah, okay, okay, right, yeah yeah, that's the
- 5:44one that I beat you at. That's the one. Okay, okay.
- 5:47Context for listeners and Jason, Basically, I don't know how better explained this.
- 5:55Fantasy football happens here, but wrestling and I just come along every now
- 6:00and then. There's drama, which is very exciting to me, but I
- 6:03don't know how it works, and I hope to participate. Yeah, that's
- 6:08fantasy football for people who didn't have sex in high school. Yeah, but
- 6:14that was too long. But on the title, so yeah, yeah,
- 6:16yeah, it's the Fiction League and I'm the current champion. I'm a I'm
- 6:20a proud champion, although I don't have my belt yet. Oh is it
- 6:25in the UK? Or where is it? Thankfully no, I just decided
- 6:28to keep it here because I'm gonna win on the rematch obviously, So sure,
- 6:35October first, I'll see you October first. That's what wrestlers say,
- 6:38isn't it. They point and say a date. Yeah, this is more
- 6:41exciting to me than real wrestling. Yeah, yeah, I have states.
- 6:45I know those people. This is dramatic. So let's let's get into the
- 6:47Attitude Deer Adam. Are you familiar with that era of wrestling? Nope,
- 6:56So my my familiarity with the Attitude there as I grew up. I grew
- 7:02up a pretty goddamn Christian, you know, the real, good old fashioned
- 7:06kind. I was controversial in my church and because I was into Pokemon and
- 7:12my mom let me play Pokemon and that was too crazy. So Attitude Era
- 7:16wrestling off the table. So everything that I know of the Attitude Era exists
- 7:23from Nintendo sixty four video games at the occasional show on in the background at
- 7:29my cousin's house. Right, That's that's about it. So, yeah,
- 7:32this should be a fun time. I'm familiar with the characters, you know
- 7:35that kind of stuff. But yeah, yeah, Ver we will try to
- 7:40equal Graham's knowledge as a union. Yeah, I think it's honestly fair teams
- 7:46in the grand scheme. Yeah, but before we get to those games,
- 7:48you've cut your three sixteen promo. But we're going to need more branding if
- 7:51we could make this whole Attitude Era thing work. So I'd like each pad
- 7:56to come up with a turn of the Millennium WWE themed name. Please let's
- 8:01start with Jason and Graham. Do you have any team name ideas? Yeah,
- 8:03Graham, Yeah, so I know nothing about this we need Okay,
- 8:09okay, go on, but hold on, Graham. I have some pretty
- 8:13strong opinions on my favorite types of attitudes. Okay, okay. Number one
- 8:20just overall pleasant, great attitude. Number two curious, Yeah, shows that
- 8:28you want to understand. And No Three little saucy little yeah, little you
- 8:33know me. So you try to say that you're entering your attitude era,
- 8:37it is all three at the same time. Yeah, that's what I bring.
- 8:41No room for adjustments. Oh, it's definitely. There's definitely four.
- 8:45Four strongest attitude, open minded. We love an open minded attitude. Okay,
- 8:50so go so so, so tell me what are your team names based
- 8:52on that? Wow? I mean saucy is well is what caught my eye.
- 8:58Yeah, I mean we've got to give the people what they want,
- 9:00and we know that what the people want is head get our first. You're
- 9:03a reference. That's a good reference, I think. All Look, if
- 9:09you want to know the error, yeah, yeah, yeah, it wasn't
- 9:15their best stuff. And yeah it was also their best stuff and it's awesome.
- 9:20So like Summit to do with Head, to do with Thinking, Head,
- 9:22some kind of head, all Snow and head, Like if the Rock
- 9:28and Al Snow were tag partners, they might be Head and Boulders heads shoulders
- 9:39for this podcast. What do you think Head and boulders? Yeah, yeah,
- 9:43yeah, yeah I could be the Head, You could be the boulders.
- 9:46Yeah, okay, okay, it's decided. Yes we have Head and
- 9:50Boulders. Love this lovely bit of brand based word play there on the fly.
- 9:54Look at us, yeah, look at us. No, it wasn't
- 9:58all Graham. Okay, so we have Heads and boulders, but who will
- 10:05they be facing ultra adam boy? Oh boy, I you don't have any
- 10:09like yeah, I don't have any you know, concrete names off the top
- 10:13of my head. But I'm thinking maybe we can sort of reverse engineer this
- 10:16thing. Okay, So I think a good classic tag team, I think
- 10:20a good Attitude era starting point is to have at least like some sort of
- 10:26alliteration. Uh maybe one of the words ending in a double consonant or a
- 10:31Z instead of an S. Those all feel like good staples for like a
- 10:35late nineties, you know, definitely right right, Yeah, our names do
- 10:41already start with AS. So if there's anything that's a based room, I
- 10:48got nothing. Sorry, i'll cut out, I'll cut out any silence.
- 10:52Yes, thank you. I was really excited too. Well, there's the
- 10:56famed Attitude you remove the AA. You could try and stuff something in then,
- 11:00of course. Yeah, definitely Attitude era. Yeah, podcast, we
- 11:05both lived. This is only tangentially related. You also lived in Colorado at
- 11:09one point in time, so we could be the Altitude Era. That's pretty
- 11:16good. So the the Altitude Eras with the Z. Yeah, I think
- 11:24it was not the literation, but we got the Z. But we got
- 11:28the Z in there. Yeah, the Z is there. It's funny.
- 11:31I was I was racking my brain trying to think of good like classic tag
- 11:33teams, and the two most classic tag teams are just the name of boys.
- 11:39Yeah, you'll be the Altitude Eras boys, just the Altitude Boys at
- 11:46that point. Yeah, yeah, good stuff. So we've got head and
- 11:50Boulders versus the Altitude Eras. I love it, all right. And if
- 11:54you're listening to this and thinking you all seem moderately entertaining, but I don't
- 11:58know my Stone Cold Steve Boston from my cold Stone Creamery. Don't worry his
- 12:03ultra with a little segment we like to call passing knowledge. The Attitude Era
- 12:11was a period in professional wrestling history which occurred from nineteen ninety seven to two
- 12:16thousand and two. During this time, WWF now w w E and w
- 12:22c W now a distant memory battled for television supremacy. The deal is finalized
- 12:28and the name of the contract dous S McMahon. However, the contract ran
- 12:35Shane McMahon. This caused WWF to market the WWF Attitude, which involved increasing
- 12:46violence, vulgarity, and sexism. Wrestling was at its most popular, and
- 12:50wrestling fans were at their least ridiculed. As a result, many fans insisted
- 12:56was the best era of professional wrestling. Lady. The Attitude Era gave us
- 13:03larger than life stars such as Stone, called Steve Austin, the Rock,
- 13:07Triple H, Mick Foley, China, and The Undertaker. It also gave
- 13:11us smaller than life stars such as Dick Togo, Barbara Bush, Scott Putski,
- 13:18and of course Al Snow. What does everybody want? What is everybody?
- 13:24Mister McMahon was the perfect villain for the Attitude Era, because everybody wants
- 13:28to beat up their boss while drinking a beer. It's the American dream.
- 13:33Oh no, that's actually Dusty Rhodes. But moving on, I admit I
- 13:37don't look like Dad's leader of the day it sposed to look. My Bellett
- 13:41gets a little big, mine is gets a little big. But brother,
- 13:45I am bed, and they know I'm bed. Austin three sixteen might say
- 13:48I just whooped your ass, but gate Leapers three sixteen says, we are
- 13:54just about to have a really fun pop culture panel show, and that's the
- 13:58bottom block. Thank you, Aldra. Was it fun researching the Attitude Era?
- 14:13Absolutely, the amount of nonsense that people could get up to, and
- 14:18it was like, this is fine. Yeah, yeah, it's certainly well
- 14:20until a bit into towards the end, but it certainly was pre nine eleven
- 14:24television, as it's referred to him, academic circles where just do whatever you
- 14:30want, no one Caresca's invincible, there's no consequences for any action. Oh
- 14:35my god, there went this hard and deep. Yeah. Yeah, it's
- 14:39changed with phonation. Yeah all right, just before we get to today's games,
- 14:43I've asked each player to bring in a muse it's something that inspires them
- 14:48or something they love from this particular fandom. The Attitude era is inspiring to
- 14:52me because it says you can be as controversial as you want as a broadcaster.
- 14:56Tit's cox asses. I can't honestly can't think of anything ruder than that
- 15:01death cuts. Somebody stop him, So Jason will start with you. What's
- 15:07inspiring you? From the World Wrestling Federation. Yes, so you guys told
- 15:11me that The Rock was part of this. Yes, great. I have
- 15:15no touchstone for ww and the Rock, but I have been enjoying the Fast
- 15:20franchise as of lateness. And probably the most iconic moment probably in the rocks
- 15:26life and mine for being honest too, is there's this moment where the Rock
- 15:31has a cast on and it's it's it's the third act and everything's blowing up,
- 15:35but the Rock's incapacitated, but not for longer. No no, no,
- 15:39no, no, oh, Dwayne's guy got out there. Yeah,
- 15:41So what he does. He proceeds with saying the phrase Daddy's got to go
- 15:46back to work, and then he flexes his arms so hard that the cast
- 15:50breaks and then he just busts out of the cast. Yeah, and he's
- 15:54completely fine afterwards. And I think that if that's not Attitude era, if
- 16:00that just isn't just what the rock is all the time, it's a spot
- 16:04I reckon he wishes he could have done during the Attitude era. Yeah,
- 16:07but it wasn't reinated out back that. Like, no, he was now
- 16:11right, like he's he's juiced now he's Yeah, franchise viagrad as he says.
- 16:15I'm sure he was all natural back then in the era of no consequences.
- 16:22Yeah, No, he's extra jude. He was like putting gnats in
- 16:26his veins or your your muse, your inspiration is getting so vainty that you
- 16:30bust out of yourself. Yeah, it's sad. Yeah, that's Attitude era
- 16:34from what I'm getting. Yeah, that does sound very aude. Yeah,
- 16:37you can have to break a cast. That stuff powerful stuff. Yeah.
- 16:42All right, let's let's move on over to your teammates in Head and Boulders.
- 16:47Graham, what's inspiring you from the Attitude era? Well, I thought
- 16:49it being the person that was a fan at the time, I needed to
- 16:53get something that I owned that I've got at the time, which there was
- 16:57surprisingly a lot of choice because I was a good little capitalist child. But
- 17:03it's the thing that I love the most that I still have. It's my
- 17:08goodness smoking skull stone called Steve Auston Belt, even though, which I love
- 17:15for many reasons, when it's just the fact that it's a great belt,
- 17:18but it represents how stupid children are in that I love the rock I hated
- 17:25stone called why have I got it? I don't because it's got a skull
- 17:30on it. I have walked past it in toys I rus seen WWF and
- 17:33that will have been enough for my little lizard brain by this for me this
- 17:38day. So that's that's nice and shiny as well. Honestly, it's a
- 17:42great nick and given it's got WWF on it, there's no shot of them
- 17:45ever releasing any more of these. It's probably you know, there's a little
- 17:48bit of value there, good little capitalist adult and sell it. Oh no,
- 17:56no, no, no, no no, it means too much,
- 17:57too much. That's an excellent muse. We always love much, especially historical
- 18:03much as that's always that's always good good. All right, let's move on
- 18:08over to the altitude eras and we'll start with you Adam, what's inspiring you
- 18:11from the Attitude era? My my greatest distant inspiration. It's really also what
- 18:18I think of what I think of the the Attitude Era. So my inspiration,
- 18:23again as someone who only knew it tangentially, is a big angry bald
- 18:30whites, uh I remember from that era. As a matter of fact,
- 18:36I didn't know until probably it would I mean it would have it would have
- 18:40been probably in the twenty tents I found out that Stone Cold, Steve,
- 18:44Auston, and Goldberg were in fact different people. And it wasn't until last
- 18:52night, whenever I was looking up Attitude Era stuff that I found out they
- 18:55weren't even in the same company at the time. Fantastic, but I think
- 19:02it really is indicative about late nineties excep. Prey nine to eleven television,
- 19:07just big angry bald white dudes wreck and shit slapping women and everybody's just like,
- 19:12yeah, let's go, yeah, brother, give me a beer.
- 19:17Yeah yeah, it's Stone called joining us. I suppose when you looked up
- 19:22that list of Attitude Era roster you have seen that there were plenty more bald
- 19:26white men other than just Stone called Steve. I think big angry bald white
- 19:33men who have always had a place in wrestling. There's always a space for
- 19:36a big, angry bald white man the whole goddamn world. Am I right?
- 19:44Hey man? Definitely the Fast and Furious franchise all over the pipeline for
- 19:52angry bald white men from WW to the Fast and Furious franch Yeah, it's
- 19:56a strong, it's a strong I have to say. I felt I felt
- 20:00an immediate kinship in connection with my teammate as with his news as I watched
- 20:07that film literally two days ago, so we're already in sync. This is
- 20:14good. I'd say it's a coincidence. But you watch a Fast and Furious
- 20:18movie every night, don't you grow? There's literally a Sky Movie channel showing
- 20:22all of them and repeat. It's impossible not to come on, I'm I'm
- 20:26only a white man myself. Come on. Well, I don't know how
- 20:30we got into that there, but proud statement of race declaration. But that's
- 20:36a that's a fantastic observation and a fantastic mus Goldberg and Stone called Steve Austin
- 20:41basically the same person. And finally, Audro, what's inspiring you from the
- 20:45attitude era? I forgot to grab it before we came in the room.
- 20:48But imagine that I am holding a Molly Holly action figure because I do have
- 20:52one, the only one. Yeah, yeah, that's good for wrestling.
- 21:02But Molly Holly is my inspiration. It was an era where women were not
- 21:06typically allowed to do I don't know, wrestling, So Molly Holly, great
- 21:11wrestler, really advocated for a lot of women's wrestling. She paid for Beth
- 21:17Phoenix's wrestling school because wrestling. She couldn't afford to go to wrestling school,
- 21:21and so she paid for Beth Phoenix's wrestling school. There was one I cannot
- 21:26remember which WrestleMania, the one where she shaved her head, but there wasn't
- 21:30going to be a serious women's match. There was going to be an evening
- 21:33gown match, and she offered to shave her head if they had a real
- 21:38match. She like pitched a hair versus hair match that she would lose so
- 21:44that there would be a women's match on the card. Nice. She's just
- 21:48been phenomenal for women's wrestling in an era where it wasn't a great time.
- 21:53Yeah, the number of women's wrestlers now who have said, who was your
- 21:57inspiration Molly Holly. It's a lot of them. Yeah, so, hell
- 22:02yeah, Molly Holly will inspire me to victory. Hell yeah she will.
- 22:06That's a yeah, A lot of fantastic things she's done for the business.
- 22:10Hell yeah. Yeah. Women did have a place in the Attitude here where
- 22:11they weren't just in evening matches. They had a place were players. And
- 22:19okay, okay from Molly Holly. And with that sentiment, right, teams,
- 22:27let's ring the bell and get this tag team match underway in round one.
- 22:37Round one is called IMDb trivia, which today stands for isn't McMahon diabolical?
- 22:42Brother? You're getting better at these yeah, so it helps that wrestling
- 22:49is just acronyms. So so I have here a beautifully drawn ring. Uh,
- 22:56it's a square with some things in the corner. In this ring are
- 23:00six words. Each of those words corresponds to a multiple choice trivia question about
- 23:06the Attitude era. Teams will take turns picking words from the board and answering
- 23:10questions for a single point. It couldn't be more basic trivia, Very normal
- 23:15podcast. Start to the I'm not doing anything weird with this one. This
- 23:18is very normal. I promise that makes it feel more like something weird it's
- 23:22going to happen. But I'm going to skim right past that. None of
- 23:23the words are trick questions at all. So we will we will begin with
- 23:30head and boulders, and I will read the six words that you can you
- 23:33can choose from we have what young dude? Rude X seven and hose any
- 23:44of those words jumping out at you Graham as a potential question, I was
- 23:48going to defer my captain for the first, but I mean, givens we
- 23:52pick given, we picked Saucy as a team. I feel like we have
- 23:56to go in with rude. Off the food. Going with rude. Your
- 24:02question relating to rude is this, which of the following names was a real
- 24:06attitude era wrestler Bush puppies, beaver cleavage or pussy sugar tits? Oh my
- 24:15god, jesus, I mean I can't none of them. Bring them.
- 24:22You've got bush puppies. I mean hush puppies is what Jerry Lawler used to
- 24:26call tits. So okay, I feel like that's where he's getting that from.
- 24:32I don't I'm not sure hush puppies. Now, what do you think?
- 24:36Jason the beaver cleavage could call tits hush puppies is crazy. Yeah my
- 24:42opinion, that's that's my thought process right now. I can't think of anything
- 24:47else. EqA clean the last one, the sugar tits one. That's a
- 24:52crazy that's crazy. Yeah, that's real. It's a crime. Yeah,
- 24:56that's like, that's that's a twelve year olds like Xbox schemer tech. Right,
- 25:00Yeah, I mean it does. Were the Attitude, it sounds like
- 25:03they were going for like a bond girl tightening, a pussy galore type.
- 25:07You can probably get away with that kind of thing. That's insane. I'm
- 25:14told I'm pulled towards beaver as often I am in life. So that amen.
- 25:19Brother, h So you're going with a bee beaver cleavage. I don't
- 25:25think it's right either. What does that even mean? Well, it is
- 25:30right, it is Beleage. It was a character for a month during the
- 25:33Attitude era, and it was actually it was a parody of Leave It Either,
- 25:37which is now featuring its second reference on where it was just like this
- 25:44this sitcom star had skits where he would like essentially be in love with his
- 25:48mum and like hug her buzzom and it was a gimmick for about a month
- 25:51until they decided to scrap it. Yeah, this is why I didn't get
- 25:53into wrestling. Wow, that's what I mean. That might be back there,
- 25:57That might be a bit of import that which just that it just lodged
- 26:00on my impressionable brain waiting to come both in a podcast twenty years like complex,
- 26:08We've all got it. It's really there's a lot of love my teammate
- 26:12that are coming out right now. All I'm saying is it's probably a good
- 26:15thing that he hit his sister with a steel chair. I forgot about that.
- 26:19That's gonna that's gonna focus on would have been, could have been much
- 26:25worse. But there's a there's a point. There's a point for you there.
- 26:26That's good stuff. Off to a great start, victory. Okay,
- 26:30we will move on over to the altitude eras your five words, Aldro if
- 26:34you'd like to read them off what young dude X seven and hose and I
- 26:44would like to clarify just because it is attitude era. It's like fire hose
- 26:48not a derogatory term for a woman. Correct, Just to clarify it is
- 26:52the attitude era. Yeah. Yeah, never I'd write sex work because on
- 26:56the on the board. I'm just that kind of guy. Yeah, because
- 27:00the way you phrase that sounds like I'm just a nice guy, you know.
- 27:03I just that's the Yeah, that's you're explaining the joke, and I
- 27:08don't know what's going on. Is there a word there? Let's let's go
- 27:12with hose. Yeah, you're going with a hose. I'll be god his
- 27:17hose. Right, it's gotta be named one of these. If only it
- 27:25was, it gets even better hose. Which of the following liquids was not
- 27:29sprayed at a McMahon during the Aptitude era? Is it a sewage? Be
- 27:36beer or ce milk? They've got it. It was the stone cold era,
- 27:42so they've got to have sprayed beer at him, right at someone?
- 27:47Or is this the trick? Beer beer feels right? See hearing that question,
- 27:51it very much seems like sewage would be a thing that they would spray
- 27:56on a McMahon and the era I'm leaning towards that one being not. It
- 28:03kind of psyching myself out. I feel like the milk thing would have been
- 28:07like two thousand four at least, right, I feel like it might have
- 28:11been a little bit past that time. And again it does seem like they
- 28:15would spray ship on a mcman many in the late nineties. Should we should
- 28:19we go on milk, Let's go milk, you go in milk, milk,
- 28:25Let's go milk. Final answer, It is not milk. It is
- 28:27sewage milk. Yeah. Angle sprayed milk in two thousand and one. Stone
- 28:34Cold sprayed beer in nineteen ninety nine, Eddie Guerrero sprayed sewage in two thousand
- 28:41and four. There was some sewage spraying from a wrestler at one point,
- 28:45but it was it was era a McMahon want spray the Spirit squad with sewage
- 28:52as well? Yes, that's league which, Yes, there's a lot of
- 28:59rege going on right now, and in wrestling they like spraying things out of
- 29:03nozzles. I got that one wrong, but I was close enough to it.
- 29:07That has sounded like I kind of knew when I was talking about absolutely
- 29:11of all, like two thousand and four, you nailed it, You nailed
- 29:14it. Yeah, if this is our ruthless aggression episode from last year,
- 29:17you'd be doing great. Okay, we need another words, we need another
- 29:22question. Yeah, so the words are again, what young dude an ex
- 29:30secut away captain here? I love I love just the phrase what what you
- 29:34know what? With no punctuation, what yeah? What? Yeah? I'm
- 29:40blight on every wrestling promo. Thank you, Stone Cold, that we now
- 29:44have to hear fucking what after every person's line twenty five years later. Let's
- 29:48let's find out how it happened, shall we? Because here is your question,
- 29:52Stone Cold. Steve Austin has had many catchphrases over the years, but
- 29:56how did he come up with his infamous what response? During his He'll run
- 30:00in two thousand and one? Is it A? One of the crew members
- 30:03in Catering would use it as a response when wrestlers asked for third portions B
- 30:10When he called fellow wrestler Christian on the phone. He couldn't understand what Christian
- 30:14was saying, so he'd respond with what or see. Red Bull had just
- 30:18hit the Western market and featured a commercial where an old person would yell what
- 30:23at a young person for not understanding how much energy the young person had.
- 30:29So you've got catering, you've got a phone call, or you've got red
- 30:32Bull. We're red Bull. I mean, I believe Matt would have looked
- 30:36up when a product came out to make a line up. I don't,
- 30:41but I don't. My gut went to catering. That's where my instinct went.
- 30:45I do not know again, Yeah, yeah, I like that gut
- 30:48reaction. I don't remember a lot of commercials of Red Bull growing up,
- 30:55except for the Red Bull Gives You Wings. Ye. Wrestling is all about
- 31:02they love their inside jokes and they love ribbing each other with things, so
- 31:06I can believe that there would be some kind of ribbing inside jokes when he
- 31:08started it. That's okay. Yeah. Yeah. So so the catering thing
- 31:12that came out to you, Yeah, there's some there's some hungry people.
- 31:18Yeah, I just screwed that guy not giving them third portions. Come on,
- 31:21mate, stone Cold, Steve Boston. I'm paying for all of this
- 31:25food with my current Yeah, what a what a fucking power player being the
- 31:30guy had to look at like stone cold. Nah, you're stopping it too
- 31:37portion you bought go on what I can't hear. I can't even hear you
- 31:41talk to me that. It's so ridiculous. You are not the only angry
- 31:45bald white around here. Typhoon doesn't get seconds genuinely might have been playing one
- 32:00of the oddities during the attitude eras. That is that is an on point.
- 32:02Hey, okay, okay, course I just took a stab in the
- 32:07dark. So you're going with a the catering the catering one. Yeah,
- 32:12that is incorrect. It's actually Christian on the phone. He would regularly call
- 32:16Christian to organize car share stuff, and he could never understand what the hell
- 32:21that Canadian was saying accent yes, which, again, knowing Christian, could
- 32:30have also been a rib. Yes, that's very true. How's everyone's father's
- 32:36doing. Oh shit, Okay, time for another question, which means we
- 32:42need another word the altitude eras Young dude X seven? Those are three?
- 32:49That's also another Xbox schemera tag of mine. Yeah, seven, young dudes.
- 32:59Let's go x even on this one, just going at seven serious.
- 33:04WrestleMania X seven is regarded by many as the peak of the Attitude era and
- 33:07one of the greatest shows of all time. But which of these legends did
- 33:13not participate in the Gimmick Battle Royal that took place at that event? Was
- 33:17it A the Repo Man, B Kimchi or C mantor I have no clue.
- 33:30Are you familiar with the Gimmick Battle Royal? That took place at that
- 33:32show that there was a gimmick Battle Royal. Yes, yes, it was
- 33:37kind of like the halftime show where they threw in a load of wrestlers from
- 33:39the eighties into a Battle Royal. I have seen this. I do vaguely
- 33:45remember it. I wouldn't have like also seen it, I think, but
- 33:50I don't. I went through a lot of like the Royal Rumbles and WrestleManias
- 33:53of that era, and again, like you said, regarded as one of
- 33:57the better WrestleManias. So I definitely watched this. Uh repo man sounds familiar
- 34:02to me, mantor sounds familiar to me. I'm gonna say it's kim Chi
- 34:09just just out of the random bullshit gimmick names floating in my head. That
- 34:15one doesn't seem that one. Yeah, that was that was a little too
- 34:21far fetched, exactly. No, I just think he wasn't in that.
- 34:27You just think he wasn't in that Battle Royal. Yeah, but was still
- 34:29definitely a legend. H I would not be surprised. I'm gonna be rich.
- 34:35No, kim Chi was in the Battle Royal. It was Mantle that
- 34:38wasn't there. So sorry, there was no no Mantle appearance at Wrestleman near
- 34:43X seven. I don't know who she is. My favorite drag queen and
- 34:49I just love the image of a drag queen being in ww Maybe there was
- 34:52a drag game in w W A in the ante era. Oh oh,
- 34:58are you thinking of a Pat Patterson evening in the match? I'm not thinking
- 35:01of the Pat pat I mean I usually am, but I'm not right now
- 35:04thinking of that match. I was thinking of gold dust, of course,
- 35:08gold dust. Yeah, like before drag was popular, doing drag on now,
- 35:13I mean one big versus a woman. I mean yeah, yeah,
- 35:16yeah, yeah, definitely towards the gimmick. Okay, all right, we
- 35:22got one final question for each team, which means there are two words left
- 35:24on the board, young or dude. Young or dude? Which one are
- 35:28you this? Which mutually exclusive? At one point in my life I was
- 35:34both. I am in that phase now where I'm accepting those is less true
- 35:38and every passing day, let's just let's know who you are. Let's just
- 35:44go to dude. You go a dude? Yeah, hope for a big
- 35:46Lebowski themed question. Yeah right, era, right era, Here is your
- 35:52question about dude. Which of the following fifty eight year old actors was on
- 35:57the same high school wrestling team as Mix only A. Kevin James, B.
- 36:02Charlie Sheen or C. Robert Downey Jr. I know the answer,
- 36:08actually know the answer to a question. Having read excellent autobiogy book his first
- 36:15one, have a nice Day, I think it would be that he talks
- 36:16about this. He mentions that Kevin James was the champion of his wrestling school.
- 36:23I was wrestling college or whatever his high school. Yeah. Yeah,
- 36:25yeah, the fake with confidence that is the correct. Yeah, come on,
- 36:34you're happy with that, Jason, You're happy sick. I can believe
- 36:37Kevin James. Paul bart mall cop Yeah, yeah he could. He could
- 36:40takedown a guy, and he absolutely can. Yeah, that is Kevin James.
- 36:45Good knowledge. Graham. Wow, that's amazing. I love that you
- 36:49still ask Jason for him, Like, yeah, actually I should. I
- 37:01should have dispeated you right now. I should. Just don't trust that,
- 37:07Nor do I think Kevin James is a real person or fifty eight. I
- 37:12don't think I was surprised they were all fifty eight, but I guess time
- 37:15happens. So yeah, all right, Well, the altitude eras that leaves
- 37:20you with Young Young. In nineteen ninety nine, the twenty nine year old
- 37:23Mark Henry and seventy seven year old May Young entered into an on screen romance.
- 37:29This included many shocking moments, such as pregnancy and an attempt by Bubba
- 37:32Ray Dudley to abort the fetus using a power bomb. However, what did
- 37:37May Young eventually give birth to? Is it a a bloody rubber hand,
- 37:44be a bloody rubber foot, or see a bloody rubber chicken, bloody rubber
- 37:51hand? Mate Young, was almost my muse, okay, your knowledge,
- 37:57your knowledge coming in coming in there. This seventies seventies woman getting power bombed
- 38:02through a table is an icon. Yeah, it's pretty impressive. Is it
- 38:07a whole adult hand? Was it a baby hand? At the time for
- 38:12the skit, it was a guy with his hand in a rubber glove covered
- 38:15in blood, appearing between this pension his legs. Oh yeah, And that
- 38:21was the attitude Era May Young's. And I can and I just I've just
- 38:25confirmed the real answer, And I didn't actually ask, Adam, do you
- 38:29want to go with ultras? Answer correct? No, I think it's Robert
- 38:34Downey Jr. Yeah, it absolutely is a bloody Yeah. What does she
- 38:44give birthtie famously born from ninety seven to two thousand and two, one of
- 38:50those. Yeah, oh god, that's a great all right, that's all
- 38:53the questions on the board. So that's the end of round one. Let's
- 38:57use some of that Vince McMann attendance figure mass to calculate the later scores.
- 39:00So because of that, I'm going to add ten thousand points to each team
- 39:04score and really have to be the classic wrestling thing. So we have the
- 39:09Altitude Eras are on ten thousand and one points and Head and Boulders are on
- 39:15ten thousand and two points. Oh nice. I think I'm having an out
- 39:17of body experience. I think that's what's happening right now. Yeah, it's
- 39:20getting weird this one. Not only do I not know what's going on,
- 39:23everything you tell me is a shock. Yeah to my sister. Look,
- 39:27that's that's the Attitude Era. Yeah. Up next is round two. After
- 39:30these smart ads. Of course, hopefully you get a commercial for the number
- 39:35one sponsor of the Attitude Era, Chef Boyard beef Ravioli, and I'll send
- 39:40to the brand name there if if Chef Boyard doesn't get back to me.
- 39:49Round two. It's called Promo Class and it's a game we've played before in
- 39:52a few different forms. So in this game, I'm asking our players to
- 39:55cut promos on each other. If you don't know what promos are, it's
- 40:00when wrestlers yell into a microphone to sell the story they're telling in the ring,
- 40:04and also tickets, mainly tickets. In turns, a player will cut
- 40:07a promo on their teammates. That promo will contain clues to three things.
- 40:13Who you are, where the match will take place, and who your opponent
- 40:16is, who who you'll be facing. Crucially, the promo cutter must cut
- 40:21their promo without saying any of the names or places written down. After your
- 40:24thirty second promo, I'll ask your teammates to answer those three questions, with
- 40:29a point for each correct answer. But just the word and yeah, words
- 40:32on here, just the words on there. You can say anything else and
- 40:36it can be as obvious as you'd like. Beyond that, yes, okay,
- 40:38So we'll begin with Graham for Jason. So Graham, you're up to
- 40:42the up to the microphone first to cut promo. You can you can do
- 40:45an impression if you'd like, or you can just do that generic like let
- 40:47me tell you something, brother. That's that's fine too. That's all I
- 40:52know about wrestling. Okay, are you ready? Yes? Any time starts
- 40:57now finally I have I'm back to the Big Apple and this Sunday, I
- 41:04go up against this giant seven feet tall, five hundred pounds. He's going
- 41:08to put on a hell of a performance. You better buy tickets because it's
- 41:12Sunday the Big Apple. You're going down, brother. Okay, Okay,
- 41:16that's the end of your promo. Okay, any ideas there? Jason?
- 41:20Who Graham is well? Or so he's back? Yeah? And you just
- 41:25told me that The Rock came back to WWE recently? Okay, yeah,
- 41:30so is he the But he didn't do the can you smell when I'm cooking?
- 41:34Because I think give Graham would have done that. But that's the only
- 41:37restaurant I know too. Yeah, that's what it was the Rock, and
- 41:40it was the Rock. Yeah, there's a point there, But where's the
- 41:45match taking place? New York City? Baby, New York City? Goods
- 41:47stuff? And who are you? Who is he facing? I'm seven foot
- 41:53five hundred pounds. Well there's well, there's there's Andrea the Giant. Yeah
- 42:00there's but he's dead maybe now by now I can't say anything. There's the
- 42:06Great Colleague, he's giant. I know that guy. There's the Big Show.
- 42:10I know that guy. Maybe Andrea the Giant's he looks like a boy.
- 42:15That would be five hundred pounds. You're going with Andre the Giant.
- 42:17I don't. Yeah, yeah, I'm not going to be I don't.
- 42:22It's it's not Andre, any of those three that I say. It was
- 42:27the Big Show. It was the Big Show. Damn. I should have
- 42:29known. I said the word giant. I said the word. You know,
- 42:32the Big Show's real, man, You did say the word giant.
- 42:37It was a good promo, Graham, good stuff. Thank you very much,
- 42:39thank you very much. Okay, now it's going to be Adam for
- 42:44Ultra over over at the altitude Heras looking to get some points on the boards.
- 42:50Adami ready, I think, so let's do it. Three two one.
- 42:54Let me tell you something. I'm mad. You know what I'm mad
- 42:58because this Sunday come across the pond to kick your ass. You some bitch,
- 43:02you big red sm bitch. And let me tell you some I don't
- 43:05know where you're from, but where I'm from going across the pond, all
- 43:07that does is disturbed a good fishing hole. So this Sunday, I'm gonna
- 43:12be coming across the pond and we'll be kicking your ass. I don't care
- 43:14who your dad is. I don't care who your half brother is. I
- 43:16don't care what that who's in that God damn RN he's carrying around either one,
- 43:21two, three, tell you there we go perfectly thirty seconds, just
- 43:24like they do on TV. Okay, that was Adam's very energetic promo.
- 43:31Uldray, who is Adam? My brain? I can't remember? Who is
- 43:39the hell? Yeah? And I want to say stone cold? It is
- 43:42stone cold. I just suddenly doubt everything in my wife the second I'm asked
- 43:47to answer a question across the pond. So we're going to I'm gonna say
- 43:52London, Yep, London, England absolutely as a point, red faced and
- 43:59urn. So I would go for Kane. It is Kane. Kane is
- 44:04the opponent. Good stuff. Three points there for the altitude. Yes,
- 44:09yes, yes, good promo cut and Adam. Okay, it's the Captain's
- 44:14turn to cut some promos for our special guests. Jason you're up first,
- 44:21just sounds vaguely aggressive and yeah, yeah yeah, are you ready? Yeah?
- 44:27Three? Two, one, okay, a hello. I this evening
- 44:37or a weekend or a week night whenever we often do this. I am
- 44:42going to kill you or rob your grave, whatever this person does. I'm
- 44:47very controversial at the moment because I think my views are out of date.
- 44:52I think, but we'll find out if people in the north, uh big
- 44:57fat as well, I'm going to kick your ass in. Really, I'm
- 45:02fuck, are you kidding me? There were a there were a cover.
- 45:08I'm sure there are. Yeah, I'm sure like to like fifteen seconds of
- 45:19that. It's just me saying I'm open with Hello promo Okay, just like
- 45:28you know how all promo said something about up He said something about up north.
- 45:32So yeah, like, I mean there's a lot of places up north,
- 45:37and I'm going to guess that it's in Canada. Yeah, You've got
- 45:39the location. It's good stuff, good stuff. You've got a point because
- 45:43I knew it. I knew would be north of where he or he was
- 45:45right now, that's what I he said, Robin Graves, So that makes
- 45:52me think he is the undertaker. He is the undertaker. Good stuff.
- 45:58Did he say anything you are anything about me? I don't think I'm going
- 46:05to get at that point, but take a stab giving him a person he
- 46:07could get this attitude here them. I'm gonna say the rock No, I'm
- 46:15the rock stone called no it was there was STI called big. I wish
- 46:22it was a big man. He was. He's third was the rock Stone
- 46:24called big boss. Most important in the attitude, Absolutely no. There weren't
- 46:30necessarily any clues in there, but it was Triple H. Triple I was
- 46:35going to say that you're married to Stephanie McMahon. I know that about that.
- 46:37That that would have helped you said that, But it was the dastardly
- 46:43time that got that got Jason there. Okay, Ordre, it is your
- 46:47turn to cut a promo for Adam. Are you ready? Yeah? The
- 46:52time starts now this weekend in what I think is the maybe the biggest place
- 47:00in the Longhorn State. I hope I'm gonna kick your butt and you're not
- 47:07going to be able to bring in your husband Triple H to see and when
- 47:14when I win, the whole crowd will be satisfied. Oops. I messed
- 47:19up my catchphrase. It's not satisfied. It's a different phrase. That sounds
- 47:24a lot satisfied. That is your time. That is your time sounds in
- 47:30this. I'll let it pass, I'll let it pass. No name was
- 47:36specifically said, Adam, who do you think ultra is? I'm gonna pass
- 47:39on that. I'm gonna just take Yes, you are, Stephanie McMahon,
- 47:46that is that is a point. Then do you know where the match is
- 47:51taking place? The Longhorn State? Right? Is this? Can I ask?
- 47:54Is this? If you get if you get the state, we're in
- 47:57Texas, right, you're in Texas. I'll I'll give you that because everyone
- 48:00else had like a country kind of thing, so you can have Texas,
- 48:02gotcha? Gotcha? Or yeah we have definitely good old Texas. I uh
- 48:07again, I don't know anyone from this era, so so catchphrases. I
- 48:15haven't had me lost. Unfortunately, Let's go with China. China is gonna
- 48:22beat my ass, going with China. Going with China for yeah, not
- 48:24not the location, but for the yeah, yeah it's not China. It
- 48:31was. It was Trish, Stratus and Stratus. It would have been satisfaction,
- 48:37not satisfied, would have been closer. Yeah to it so I'll take
- 48:40that one. I'll take that one definitely. Definitely. It's very much a
- 48:45case like you said, I could, I could picture all of the faces
- 48:49in my head with the second I've gotta I gotta guess. I'm like,
- 48:51oh wait, they're all Molly Holly right shit fuck? Okay, Well,
- 48:59I mean two points there, good stuff. I think everyone did. Okay,
- 49:01they're considering. But let's let's let's do another pass. Let's let's broaden
- 49:07things out a little and be a little silly. Yeah. This is no
- 49:09longer going to be about the attitude era in terms of WWF, but just
- 49:14people in places that are very turn of the millennium, very sort of nineteen
- 49:17ninety seven to two thousand and two. So hopefully our listeners can play along
- 49:22with this one a touch more. Any and and Jason as well. We
- 49:29will go back to Graham. Graham for Jason. Here, I did not
- 49:32realize it was a second prompt. Wuld you give me give me five seconds?
- 49:37Yeah? Absolutely? Okay, yeah, yeah, nice? Nice?
- 49:40All right? Here is you count down three, two one? You call
- 49:45yourself the commander in chief? Well, the only command I care about is
- 49:50Star Command. This Sunday Fans better get your tickets from platform nine and three
- 49:54quarters. Then head up to that magical school because me I'm gonna blow you
- 50:01to infinity and beyond. You've been busy getting blown by Monica Lewinsky. Where
- 50:05you're gonna get blown away by me this Sunday. Yes, what a promo.
- 50:12Okay, fantastic stuff. I think there was a there's enough in terms
- 50:15of clues. Yeah, it's a big part of this game. I found
- 50:20out Jason who who was Graham? Graham is buzz LIGHTYEARA is buzz Lightyears?
- 50:27Command? Good stuff? What location is the match taking place? Hogwarts?
- 50:31It is taking place in Hogwarts? And who is buzz light Your opponents?
- 50:37Well, it's definitely I was it's a president, but then you you narrowed
- 50:40it now with Minel Lewis, I'm guessing I'm Bill Clinton. You are Bill
- 50:45Clinton? Yes, that's crazy. Three for three, an excellent promo,
- 50:49excellent world play, yea, and brands against them. I don't know where
- 50:54my location is. I'm just gonna stay here. Yeah, oh right,
- 51:05I can name a place I know when it comes back. Okay, Adam,
- 51:09are you ready for yours? Fuck it? Yeah, let's go.
- 51:13Yeah, let's go. Three two one. All right, Jack, let
- 51:16me tell you something. This Sunday, We've got a different kind of corporate
- 51:21ladder match going on. Now. I know that we're going to be surrounded
- 51:23by all of the hottest pirate of music of the time, But I'm a
- 51:28different kind of pirate jacket. Let me tell you something. By the time
- 51:30you mess with me, you're gonna be sinking to the bottom. And that's
- 51:34where I'm comfortable. Just like the Titanic, I'm gonna have your ass flipped
- 51:38over quicker than I can flip a goddamn crabby patty. I'm gonna toss your
- 51:43ass and the chum bucket with the rest of the Titanic where you belong,
- 51:46You cute motherfucker. I'm sorry saying it to people. Lots of clues in
- 51:55there, lots of clues to so sorry a lot. So who do you
- 52:01think Adam is? I think he's SpongeBob. Adam is SpongeBob SquarePants, that
- 52:07is correct, and crabby patties. And where is the match taking place?
- 52:12I'm between bottom of the sea and Davy Jones locker. Okay, well I
- 52:15can tell you now it's neither of those. Okay, Love that I love
- 52:21this for us Bottom of the Sea, famous nineteen ninety nine cultural icon Bottom
- 52:24of the Sea. The location was there was a bit in there with the
- 52:30pirated music and the corporate thing. It was it was naps. The headquarters
- 52:35is where this match is taking place. Yeah, I'm be good. I
- 52:37didn't drop one and move on because that was that was a tough good,
- 52:42having order's brain going napped the headquarter. Yeah, because I was like pirate,
- 52:47pirates, ocean here, where here we are? And then the opponent,
- 52:54who is SpongeBob going to be facing Titanic was mentioned, but he did
- 53:01say Jack. So is that Rose is the other one? I've never seen
- 53:07Titanic you know. Okay, No, it's not Rose, it's Leonardo DiCaprio.
- 53:14Oh so I should have gone for the actual actor. Dang, I'm
- 53:19so sorry. I really let you down here, like Rose not letting Jack
- 53:25onto the piece of driftwood. I have let you down. You have seen
- 53:30it. No, I know that one. Okay, now it is time
- 53:37for our captains to cut their final promos. You can use that middle one.
- 53:40By the way, that location you can describe, you can use synonyms
- 53:44for that. Yeah, I knew that yeah, okay, I just if
- 53:50I can, we can skip the pleasant trees at the beginning. Let's assume
- 53:52you've already built this. Sure, Yeah, let's start halfway through. I
- 54:00think it would help though. It's you the exact date and time of the
- 54:05match, So get that out of the way. With again that very it's
- 54:09definitely happening Sunday. We've all made that very Okay, Yeah, thanks guys.
- 54:16Never has the captain had so much help. I'm with that. I
- 54:22stop the time or whenever you already Jason, listen, guy, this Sunday
- 54:27night. As I was told by my friends, you think you're the top
- 54:30gun Maverick, you think show me the money? Uh? Well, me
- 54:36and my friend Sam Wise, he's gonna bring ham Wise all the all the
- 54:40game, geez, and we're gonna kick your butt over in this large sphere,
- 54:45the sphere that has lasted for a thousand years. I assume a big
- 54:52in a big circle, you know that place. Yeah, that's your time
- 55:00ticket. That's not like space. So it's Jason is Frodo Baggins. Yeah
- 55:09that's me me Tom Cruise, Yeah correct, Yeah, that's not what the
- 55:17tricky thing, No, far thousand years a thousand. Is it the Millennium
- 55:28Dome? It is the Millennium Dome thousand. Oh is this a real place?
- 55:37I think it lasted about Yeah, became the O two arena that it
- 55:43is now. Okay, that's funny, that's just a fact. Yeah,
- 55:46I did, yeah, three for three you needed to do stop the tickets.
- 55:52Well, that was great promo, Thank you, thank you, lovely
- 55:55stuff with the hand Wiser is definitely a characters I read. I read one
- 56:04chapter of Lord of the Rings and that's all. It probably is am wise.
- 56:07That probably his dad is ham Wise. And finally we're going to come
- 56:10to Auldre's Ultras's promo Auldress silly promo read I think so okay, times thoughts
- 56:17now this Sunday at the Music Festival before the year two thousand, that was
- 56:23really controversial. I'm leaving my husband, Homer and my kids at home,
- 56:30and I'm going to kick your butt and you'll be saying, oops, oops,
- 56:35I did it again when you lose to me again. This is assuming
- 56:38we've already had a match. But uh, you you can't. You can't
- 56:45really dance very well, but and that translates to your wrestling ability. That's
- 56:50the time stuff yeah. That the promo of all of it, first off,
- 57:00incredible, Jock Captain. I also do like that you included the fact
- 57:04that this is a rematch because if this happened at Stock ninety nine, you
- 57:07know that March Jason and Britney Spears have crossed paths before. Uh all three
- 57:15points. Yeah, lovely stuff. That's the That's the slickst answer revial we've
- 57:23ever had on this podcast. If it was a video medium, I was
- 57:28going I was going to put my hand up to the and be like I've
- 57:31had it up to here, to the top of my blue hair. Yes,
- 57:37smoothed by the way, you just nailed that, like top to bottom.
- 57:40That was its impressive. Thank you. Alright, seems good stuff.
- 57:45That's the end of the rounds. Let's throw mankind off of Helen a Cell
- 57:49so we can use Mick Foley stitches to calculate the latest scores. Those scores
- 57:53are oh yeah, I've got to add the ten thousand on Hank Matt screwed
- 58:01Matt mat to the century. Okay, we have the altitude eras are on
- 58:08ten thousand and ten points, but Head and Boulders are still in the lead
- 58:13with ten thousand and twelve points. Round three next after some commercials. Of
- 58:19course, try not to think about how wrestling is just a commercial for the
- 58:22next show. It ruins the magic. See you after this. Round three
- 58:31is called not Scattergories. Hang on a second. Is that the news desk
- 58:36jingle? This was the news, it's quarter past the decade, It's time
- 58:42for the news. Okay, I guess it's time for ten XT's news desk.
- 58:45This is a segment we do on the ten xt podcast where we flash
- 58:50back to the headlines from this time period. So let's do it here.
- 58:53The jingle is spoken. I guess your first piece of news from twenty one
- 58:57to twenty six years ago is President Bill Clinton appears on national television to say
- 59:01I did not have sexual relations with that woman. Do you do you remember
- 59:07that? Graham given a reference to it in one of my clues. Yes,
- 59:10it is. It's about all built and it is really remembered for now
- 59:16surely right, Yeah, I know he played the saxophone and had a blowjob.
- 59:22Yeah, he didn't have to play the saxophone or become president to get
- 59:25remembered that well. So honestly, yeah, he's the real wind to play
- 59:30a saxophone of a horn of types, a woodwind of sorts. Yeah,
- 59:37I am a feminist. I shouldn't kelo bassoon let Bill Clinton back? Yeah
- 59:43yeah yeah yeah, oh boe. We'll move on to our next piece of
- 59:50news. The why two K problem causes unrest as many experts believe global computer
- 59:55systems will fail. Do you guys remember this? I'll be honest, I
- 1:00:00don't remember nine to eleven, So okay, you don't remember y two K?
- 1:00:04Yeah? Two K? That was the Jericho thing, right, yeah,
- 1:00:07yes, yes it was. Yeah. Do you think you would be
- 1:00:13would you have been like if we were adults, would we be panicking at
- 1:00:16the time? Would you have been panicking? Would you have been doomsdaying?
- 1:00:20I think you would think. I think you'd have been. I would have
- 1:00:22day Yeah, you'd have been nuclear bombs yeah yeah, yeah, bombs are
- 1:00:29going to hit my house tomorrow. Yeah, get paranoid. It is true.
- 1:00:32Yeah, I'm growing up. Friends of ours had like a it was
- 1:00:37basically like a Tupperware party, but for survival items, and so they were
- 1:00:42like, demonstrate this is like the crank radio. Okay, yeah, so
- 1:00:46that you can hear about all the terrible things that are happening out there built
- 1:00:51a little shelter where they put a ton of survival rations. Nothing happened.
- 1:00:55Spoiler alert. I remember I was in high school when either thirteen or twenty
- 1:01:00twelve one of those bullshit Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was like,
- 1:01:07that's bullshit. But twenty twenty thirty three, that one is real. So
- 1:01:09prepared. Yea, yeah, that one is happening. That's fair. Definitely
- 1:01:14Okay. In your final piece of news on the morning of September the eleventh,
- 1:01:17the world, No, actually, let's just move on. Let's move
- 1:01:20on. Yeah, don't have a memory of that. Yeah, okay.
- 1:01:23Back to the games. Round three is called not Scategories of For this episode
- 1:01:28only Sparkle I r L. In this game, I'll ask our Attitude era
- 1:01:34experts to name as many list items as they can from a given category in
- 1:01:39forty five seconds. God only they won't actually score points for the number of
- 1:01:44items they list. Instead, I'm going to ask our captains to guess how
- 1:01:47many they think their teammates will get, and the closer you are to that
- 1:01:52number, the more points you'll get. Right, I'm famously really bad at
- 1:01:55this. Although there is mostivation for our experts to as many as possible,
- 1:02:00as each category will have a gold plated answer worth a bonus two points if
- 1:02:06you can say it. We will begin by naming what the category is.
- 1:02:07In the first category is wrestlers, nice and simple wrestlers. That's no wrestlers
- 1:02:13abroad. Yeah, so questions, Oh, because he gets micro after that.
- 1:02:19Yes, okay, that's right. Yes, that's correct. That's correct.
- 1:02:21Because it's not just going to be wrestled. There will be a most
- 1:02:25name a lot of wrestlers exactly. Yeah, that's going to say something like
- 1:02:30how many bald whites are there in in ww Yeah, okay, okay,
- 1:02:37exactly that. No, So with the knowledge that it's wrestler's captors, I'd
- 1:02:42like I'd like you to write down a number that you think in forty five
- 1:02:45seconds, your your expert will be able to name. How are you feeling?
- 1:02:49How are you confident experts? No, yes, but it's it's it's
- 1:02:55more just the white man confidence I've taken all things in life that things will
- 1:03:00generally turn out fine. Imagine how far you could go if you were bald.
- 1:03:07So we've got numbers written down, captains, Yes, yes, we
- 1:03:12will begin with Graham, and here is your specific category that you'll have forty
- 1:03:15five seconds to list as many things as possible from this category. Wrestlers who
- 1:03:20held the Intercontinental Championship during the Attitude era can remind me that the atude is
- 1:03:25ninety seven to two thousand and two thousand two. That is correct, halfway
- 1:03:30through ninety seven to halfway through two thousand and two, and you've got forty
- 1:03:34five seconds to name as they punishment for naming someone that's wrong. No,
- 1:03:38not at all. Not I might say a name in wrestlers. I think
- 1:03:43it's what I'm going to go down here. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:45Who had the bell? Okay, Okay, are you ready? I'm ready?
- 1:03:52Okay, three two one, Chris Jericho, Steve Blackman, Perry Saturn,
- 1:04:00Ray, Mystereo, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Hurricane Helms, The
- 1:04:04Rock, Christian Edge, Matt Hardy, h Raven Rhino, Uh Bob,
- 1:04:16Holly Crash, Holly fuck It, Molly Holly, China, The Big Boss
- 1:04:26Man, gold Dust, Barbara Dudley, Dee Bond Dudley. You're five seconds.
- 1:04:35Vince McMahan's, Shane McMahon, Linda McMahon, all the McMahon's. Yes,
- 1:04:44there's a lot of wrestlers named. There absolutely not many champions, and
- 1:04:49we are your name, my name six? All pretty good? It's pretty
- 1:04:54good. Yeah, you have six of them and probably about twelve who never
- 1:04:58held the Intercontinental Championship. But the crucial thing, what did Jason write down?
- 1:05:03Jason wrote down five? Five? Okay, yeah, that's what that's
- 1:05:09worth two points in of itself. And you did not name the gold plated
- 1:05:12answer. I'm sorry to say that was William Regal is what we were like.
- 1:05:17Fuck. You didn't name two comebook characters though, And I was surprised.
- 1:05:23Which ones Raven and Rhino? Oh yeah, Ravens, which yeah yeah,
- 1:05:29I was like, oh weird, I know them. Yeah, all
- 1:05:31right. We will move on over to Adam and Adam's wrestler category, not
- 1:05:36including the Royal Rumble match. Name wrestlers who competed in pay per view main
- 1:05:42events during the Attitude era. Oh okay, are you ready? Let's go?
- 1:05:45Time starts now. Stone called Steve Austin, the Rock, Kane Undertaker,
- 1:05:55Vince Smithman, Goldberg, That's who it was. That's who I was
- 1:06:04thinking of. Uh, I'm just drawing a blank, holy shit, Edge
- 1:06:12Christian, the Hardy Boys, inst you got ten seconds. See, Oh
- 1:06:23I get all the Bob Whites. They just merge together. They're all the
- 1:06:28things, understand, Mick Foley mankind all of the egos. There you go,
- 1:06:31that's your that's your time. You just squeezed in. Mick Foley does
- 1:06:42any of the mix. Yeah, but you did manage to name six main
- 1:06:46events as they're six people who did main event an attitude and a few who
- 1:06:51didn't. But that's okay, no penalties there, ultra. The crucial thing
- 1:06:57is, though, what did you write down? I said, because I
- 1:07:00said four? Okay, yeah, we didn't know what the category wasn't I
- 1:07:06didn't want to like, I didn't think I had four once it was up,
- 1:07:12and you did say you said mister McMahon. You said Vince McMahon there,
- 1:07:15Adam, if you'd have said Shane McMahon, you would have got the
- 1:07:18bonus two points, because Shane McMahon was the gold plate did answer that day.
- 1:07:24I didn't know that he ever remained invented. Actually, I mean it
- 1:07:28makes sense because they had that whole thing. I was watching some Attitude here
- 1:07:30and stuff the sporting and I was surprized at how much time those two dudes
- 1:07:35take up like yeah, yeah, like the McMahon show, Shane earned it
- 1:07:42into in his defense, Shane earned his place amongst the boys by taking some
- 1:07:46gross McMahon will always be a boy for me. McMahon was my favorite hero
- 1:07:54after the first pay per view I ever watched Restless seven weeks and against aj
- 1:07:59Styles. Fucking love Shane forever. But it did blow my mind that,
- 1:08:03like the first forty minutes of an episode of Raw, are just them standing
- 1:08:06in different places, this yelling at each other. Yeah, crazy, the
- 1:08:13commands. If you if you owned your own television show, come on,
- 1:08:16I'd be all over it. Even when I was off screen, I'd have
- 1:08:19a little picture of myself in the corner or something. What's Gray, I'm
- 1:08:23up to? What's he doing right now? That's they've not given you your
- 1:08:30own wrestling promotion yet, but there's still time. I've given me my own
- 1:08:33podcast, which I do mostly feel. Yeah, it's good. Okay,
- 1:08:41Let's let's have another pass at that exact same game. This time the category
- 1:08:45is branding branding, So can I get a number written down from from our
- 1:08:48captains? How many you think are experts are going to get? Like eight
- 1:08:55or something? I wrote a number crossed it out, rode a number,
- 1:09:04all right, branding mean okay, okay, I hope you bring a lower
- 1:09:09number here. Yeah, it's a couple of numbers in the in the room.
- 1:09:14And Graham, let's get specific with your branding category. Name as many
- 1:09:18pay per views from throughout the Attitude era, then, so the names of
- 1:09:21major events from the Attitude era, each one on the counters once. You
- 1:09:27can't have each successive year just just the brand's names of pay per views.
- 1:09:32I think a low number, but I'm going to try and go ham here.
- 1:09:38I don't care look for that gold plated answer. True, Okay,
- 1:09:44your time starts now. Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, Backlash, Vengeance, Judgment
- 1:09:50Day, Summer Slam, Servirus series. Uh, I'm blanking New Year's Revolution
- 1:10:00of Resolution, whichever it was called, rebellion. I'm trying to think GM
- 1:10:12mode, Come on, GM Mode, come back to me. Fuck it,
- 1:10:15Extreme Rules. I know it wasn't there, held us out, wasn't
- 1:10:17there one of the bank, It wasn't there. You're ten seconds. I
- 1:10:24don't know. Uh, Insurrection December to Demember two thousand and six, not
- 1:10:34December to Dismember. You scored no mercy no you at times if you can't
- 1:10:39have no, but you did. You managed to name nine. Yeah.
- 1:10:46Wow. And not only did you name nine, you also named Rebellion,
- 1:10:50which was the gold plated answers two points. I wondered if one of those
- 1:10:55Ukish ones would have him the ones you went for. That's really good.
- 1:10:58You got the golden ticket answer, as you're right, I did go low.
- 1:11:00I know branding man before I would have gone forward. No points there,
- 1:11:09but two points from the gold plated answer and great knowledge as well.
- 1:11:12Graham, Yeah, thank you. I feel like the only like big repeated
- 1:11:15one that you missed was King of the Ring. That's the one that was
- 1:11:16like, yeah, you've got you've got all the big hitters. Okay,
- 1:11:21Adam, your list category is name as many playable match types from SmackDown two
- 1:11:28know your role for the PlayStation one that's crazy type. So essentially you're listing
- 1:11:39wrestling match types here. I used to go with the House of a kid
- 1:11:42I hated just because he owned that game. I think we can all relate
- 1:11:47to that on glass Okay, I can't top that. Okay, Adam,
- 1:12:00are you ready to start naming match types? Uh? Sure, Yeah,
- 1:12:02let's fucking do it? Okay? Three? Two one? Uh, tables,
- 1:12:10ladders and chairs match, hell in the cell. Uh, let's go
- 1:12:14a Royal rumble and battle Royal tag team. I don't know that counts two
- 1:12:23thousand and one. Bron Panties, blank on a whole match, Shark cage
- 1:12:27match, no disqualification. Uh, you got ten seconds? Man, I'm
- 1:12:40drawn, I'm coming, I'm coming up. Lame now, I what's the
- 1:12:45one? Uh, I'm trying to think of the other sexiest one. Oh
- 1:12:46shit, I don't I don't have other sexiest one right down. But that's
- 1:12:53the time. Yeah. Unfortunately they weren't bron Panties matches. I'm sure Graham
- 1:13:00will remember from playing with that kidd. He hates you. But you did
- 1:13:05manage the name five? You got five? Yeah from that, you didn't
- 1:13:11name the gold plate ad answer, which was a Tornado tables match. That's
- 1:13:16what I was looking for there. But how many points will you score for
- 1:13:20your team? What? What did Ultra go for? I wrote four four,
- 1:13:27so it's two points. I wrote five, and then I crossed it
- 1:13:30out, and then I wrote three, and then I crossed it out because
- 1:13:32I was like, I can't write the same number again. And then I
- 1:13:35just rewrote four fantastic. Okay, we're going to have one final pass at
- 1:13:43this game, but this time we're gonna flip the script, and this time
- 1:13:46our captains are going to be listing things from Attitude era adjacent things their specialities,
- 1:13:53so to speak. The rock movies. Well, Jason, it's exactly
- 1:13:56that, because there is a key caveat though it's not including Fast and the
- 1:14:02Furious movies anything anything apart from Fast and Furious. Okay, name films starring
- 1:14:09Dwayne the Rock Johnson. And but first, before this, Graham, could
- 1:14:13you write down a write down a number. I can ping you one on
- 1:14:15Discordant. Oh yeah, ping me a number. Jason's already poised. Nailed
- 1:14:20his colors to the Rock Mast. Yeah, yeah too, Yeah, the
- 1:14:26name from It's true a Todd's Rock the Rock Mast. That's definitely to my
- 1:14:36Billy, Roger n with it with S and John that's true. That is
- 1:14:45true. Let's go. Okay, you payed the number. I'm remembering Khaki
- 1:14:51button up with rolled up sleeves and I'm envisioning that and it's gonna bring me
- 1:14:56the victory. Okay, picture that rock, Yeah, because that's a that's
- 1:15:00four of his movies right there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:15:01okay, absolutely, yeah, time stops now. Scorpion one, uh no,
- 1:15:08the Scorpion, King Mummy two is what it is? Rampage, Jumanji
- 1:15:12one, Jumanji two, A hard Line to Walk, uh fucking uh,
- 1:15:16Steamboat, Cruise, Jungle the Disney's Steamboat, Don't go Cruise? Yeah,
- 1:15:23okay, thank you, Journey to the Sending of the Earth. What else?
- 1:15:29What else? G I Joe Retaliation? Did I say that? No?
- 1:15:32You got you got that one? Uh? Jumanji? Oh? Uh
- 1:15:39la la Gama damn it? What is san Andreas fault? I think is
- 1:15:42that? Is that technically you said the title by saying it because you just
- 1:15:45had an extra Okay, okay, la fault whatever it was Andreas, Okay,
- 1:15:50there it goes. That's your time, okay. Fine. There was
- 1:15:54one thing. There was a film that you fucking black Adam. Oh no,
- 1:15:58there's a film that you named that we didn't name it? Fine?
- 1:16:00Oh okay, no, I think which one? Yeah? Yeah, it
- 1:16:04was like the hard Line to Walk, hard walk, hard walking, toll
- 1:16:10walking walking tall. Yeah, I feel like it was. I actually knew
- 1:16:15that. Yeah, yeah that Sean Williams Sean William Scott. Maybe, oh
- 1:16:21wow, oh wow, that's a blast proof monk. Yeah, great film.
- 1:16:27Well no, probably not. But when it came out cinema, yeah
- 1:16:33you did day nine Oh wow. Really it's still yeesus. That was a
- 1:16:38lot. I can only apologize, Yeah I can. I can reveal because
- 1:16:41of the magic of Discord brain went with six six six has been the number
- 1:16:45six has been? No, no, no, you've got it. You've
- 1:16:47hold your phone. Oh sold phone the wrong it's nine. It's nine three
- 1:16:51points. Yeah, yeah, I'm not doing that. I've already given each
- 1:16:57team an extra ten thousand. Yeah. Most it's no points for that.
- 1:17:01And also you didn't get the goal plated answer I was. I was looking
- 1:17:05for tooth Fairy. Oh damn, the tooth Fairy. Sorry, do you
- 1:17:14know it's actually a good film. Stephen Merchant yea, oh, it's been
- 1:17:18a long time. I did it. I did at one point. This
- 1:17:20is just the level of rock fandom I have. I did at one point,
- 1:17:24go and watch every single film in his filmography start to finish. Damn,
- 1:17:29not as bad as you think. It's not as bad as I think.
- 1:17:31And what's your review of Be Cool? Be Cool is really good.
- 1:17:35Isn't that? Yeah? Oh no, I'm thinking Gets Shorty wasn't it?
- 1:17:41Isn't be cool like the sequel to Get Shorty. You're like a prequel to
- 1:17:44it. He plays like a really if I recall, I remember it being
- 1:17:49pretty good. I've got a list of list of names, list of titles
- 1:17:54here, and Faster's a really good one. Faster to Surprise strong film him
- 1:17:58and Billy Bob Thorne and it's him a more tweener bad guy, good guy,
- 1:18:02roll grad. This should Graham's question. So it turns out I'm shocked.
- 1:18:10What would you would you have done the Attitude dera Once then continental champion
- 1:18:17Graham always put down the number three. I think we would have done great.
- 1:18:20Yeah, yeah, okay, because the category there was revealed in advance
- 1:18:27of the number, I'm going to do the same for Adam an Audra over
- 1:18:30at the Altitude Eras, and I'm going to say the Audra Specialist category Adam
- 1:18:33is women of the Attitude era, women who were signed to a contract during
- 1:18:39the Attitude era. I can tell you now, in total it was the
- 1:18:42exact same as the number of rock movies, minus The Fast and the Furious.
- 1:18:46So is the exact same number pool number of things to draw from.
- 1:18:50You know she knows one, you know she's got one. Yeah, yes,
- 1:18:56So if you got a got a number written down there, Adam,
- 1:18:59Yeah, sure, yeah, it's just a set one year way, beautiful,
- 1:19:03beautiful, I've got it. You want to turn it upside down,
- 1:19:10we'll discuss after it. We'll get it, okay, okay, yeah,
- 1:19:14okay, it's nonsense humor. It's not a clue. Al dry. Are
- 1:19:18you ready? Yeah? Three, two one, Trish Stratus Leader China.
- 1:19:29We'll go with May Young she was technically present, Molly Holly So Victoria,
- 1:19:40the ca Cats, the Cat, Catherine, Jacqueline, Catherine Jacqueline fuck.
- 1:19:53And then then we've got we've got people who I don't know if they were
- 1:19:57the same era. Awesome con We'll go with Gail Kim. I don't know
- 1:20:05if this is the same era. I feel like there's a million that I
- 1:20:09know that I'm missing. You got you did really well? You got eight
- 1:20:14okay wow, yea and the number Adams sent me with seven, So it's
- 1:20:18gonna be two points? Oh yes, yes, nice, nice work,
- 1:20:23good stuff, but no gold plated answering. Afraid I was looking for Ivory.
- 1:20:27Oh fuck Ivory, I even I even thought about her earlier. Sorry,
- 1:20:33sorry Ivory. Okay, that's the end of round three and if D
- 1:20:39equals two and X equals five, then the scores must be suck it and
- 1:20:45those skulls. Oh, it's all tied up now. Both teams are on
- 1:20:48ten thousand and sixteen points. Wow, Forever in gaily PRIs history. Yeah,
- 1:20:56I see you record. It's a record, really is? This is
- 1:20:58gonna make a mess for leaders for sure. Yea, Hey, Granty,
- 1:21:01we're a draw brother that the quick fire around changes everything. But before we
- 1:21:12get to the quick fire round, let's talk prizes. This episode's star prize
- 1:21:15is the concept of family. No TV family was quite as dysfunctional as the
- 1:21:19McMahon family, which is why they went on to inspire the Osbourne's, the
- 1:21:24Hogans, the Kardashians, and the Crizzlies basically hacks who use their family for
- 1:21:29entertainment. And please do check out our recent Barbie episode featuring two members of
- 1:21:32my family. Our winning team will also receive assigned belt from the Attitude era
- 1:21:42and let's see here. It's the Intercontinental Championship and it's signed by Chris Bent
- 1:21:46okay, there's there's no prize this week. No, no prize happening this
- 1:21:50week. Is that bad? Is he a bad guy? Yeah? Google
- 1:21:54Chris ben my favorite wrestler from about two thousand and two two two thousand seven,
- 1:22:02right about two thousand and seven seven, I lost fell off the Christi
- 1:22:09fandom. Yeah, jumped off the bit of dragon crowdly. Yeah yeah,
- 1:22:17yeah, google it up. Next. This is our crucial quick fire around.
- 1:22:21But first, our main events is brought to you by Slim Jim.
- 1:22:26Slim Jim, because you're allowed a dog treat too. Jesus Christ are googling
- 1:22:38Christi? Yeah, okay, yeah, but googling alive. That's that's that's
- 1:22:44the thing that happened in two thousand and seven. In case you're one,
- 1:22:46Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's the I'm not him, literally,
- 1:22:51he was my favorite wrestler, so that yeah. I literally remember where I
- 1:22:57was. I mean, it's not no exciting at my computer, but I
- 1:23:02remember my mom's skydiving and I heard I remember my mom coming into the room.
- 1:23:10Think you like Chris Benoit, Yeah, yeah I do. You might
- 1:23:14not like him after what I've got to say. It was just so eerie,
- 1:23:18like because it was an audiobook I was listening to and it was just
- 1:23:21Stephen Fries voicing. And now onto an audio essay by Stephen Fry Chris Benoit.
- 1:23:31Okay, our final quick Fire round will test your broader pop culture knowledge
- 1:23:35and it's called fake k Fabers as we won't be dealing with real WWF wrestlers.
- 1:23:42No, I want to test your knowledge of wrestling characters from outside of
- 1:23:45the world of wrestling and from other parts of fiction. So in this game,
- 1:23:49I will give our players clues to a fictional wrestler from pop culture history.
- 1:23:55Those clues will be given in the style of a ring announcer announcing their
- 1:23:59entrance and their way to the ring. Oh, and of course there's a
- 1:24:01classic gate leaper's twist. You need to give me a hell yeah. So
- 1:24:05before you say the name of the wrestler, you need to say hell yeah
- 1:24:09it's and then the name of the wrestler. Okay, it's quick fire,
- 1:24:13so you buzz in by yelling out your team names. Let's practice that now,
- 1:24:16head boulders, knees, and toes knees. I'll do. I'll take
- 1:24:20it. Yeah, altitude era. I normally start with a nice So this
- 1:24:27is good for me. Yeah, that's actually that's good. Yeah, it's
- 1:24:30convenient, it's convenient. Yeah, I'm just gonna go ahead, head,
- 1:24:35Yeah, what does everybody wants? Head? What does everybody needs? Solution?
- 1:24:48Okay, I'm going to give you an example, just so we can
- 1:24:50see how this goes. Should I try and do the Howard Finker one?
- 1:24:55Making his It's deeper, isn't it? Making his way to the ring from
- 1:24:59what on Mexico? Waiting at it however much Jack Black weighed in two thousand

- 1:25:08Hell yeah, it's Nacho. Yeah, hell yeah, it's well that or

- 1:26:41I don't know if I should take that. Should I take that?
- 1:26:44I mean finisher. I don't think that's his name head. If heads can
- 1:26:48say his name, then I can't. I don't know if I can say
- 1:26:50it's Bullman. But I thought it was Randy the Ram. But yeah,
- 1:26:55i'll give you that. I'll give you Randy Dram. I'm gonna give that

- 1:32:05one was like, no, this is too much. Can I get half
- 1:32:10a point if I named the actor's name just in case it's a tie.
- 1:32:13It's just in case it's a tie shot. I don't think it's gonna be
- 1:32:17I don't think so. The head of Older's Hell, yeah, it's Steven
- 1:32:19A. Mel Yeah, there's your half point. Take it. We'll move
- 1:32:23on to the next. But it's the guy's name, Jack Spade is the
- 1:32:27name of the character's a great wrestling name, Jack Spade. Yeah, that's

- 1:33:14making his way to the ring, playing a parody of w c w's most
- 1:33:18popular wrestler, Fire Up the Sparklers. It's attitude eras Yes, Adam,

- 1:33:35that's the Buzzer. Holy shit, that that got closer than it than it
- 1:33:41needed to be at the end, pretty close point. I swear to God.
- 1:33:45If it's like by a point and I'm miss King, I'm gonna be
- 1:33:47really upset. Well, we'll find out in just a moment, because before
- 1:33:51we get to the final scores, I'd like to thank our players. You've
- 1:33:56all pushed your bodies to the absolute limit and now you're addicted to powerful opioids.
- 1:34:01Brutal Graham. We co host the wrestling podcast called ten XT with our
- 1:34:08good friend Peter. Could you try and explain what it's all about? Sure,
- 1:34:13we watched the episode from NXT from ten years ago roughly that week.
- 1:34:19Yeah, we review the matches roughly. Mostly we just talk about what happened
- 1:34:26ten years ago. We talked about the beautiful Sammy Zane, we talked about
- 1:34:30the sports of the names, and we just we shoot the ship. That's
- 1:34:33great, Yeah, oh yeah, that's a that's a good description of what

- 1:34:40far in this episode, you obviously are check out ten xt. Adam anything
- 1:34:44anything to promote any goodwill you want to put out into the world. I

- 1:34:54know, I'm a big fan of Bethesda games too, so my life for
- 1:35:00the past month has consisted of Starfield and nothing else. So I'm just gonna
- 1:35:05probably go back into my whole after this and continue to play Starfield and I
- 1:35:10see people for a long time after my hibernation. I'll let you know if
- 1:35:15there's anything I need to promote. Okay, Okay, I can thank one

- 1:35:40Final scores, who is going to be holding the gold well? Graham already
- 1:35:44is with his stone cold Steve Auston replica. But should he be? Because
- 1:35:50Head and Boulders finish on ten thousand and twenty and a half points. It's
- 1:35:59good, it's a good effort. The Altitude Eras finish on ten thousand and
- 1:36:05nineteen points. Today's winners Head and Boulders. I mean that's Jason Coots with
- 1:36:12actually knowing pop culture. Thank you, Jason, thank you good stuff.

- 1:36:23And I really like this shirt, and so I didn't want to have

- 1:36:38is our lovely special guests are both wearing a wrestling podcast for w w E.
- 1:36:47We have been gate Leapers. Thank you so much for listening. Subscribe
- 1:36:50to this feed for more geeky game shows. We've got game shows about a
- 1:36:54w w w E and lots of things that aren't professional wrestling. I promise
- 1:36:58please leave us a five star review if you had a good time, and
- 1:37:00ignore this sentence. If you didn't, please share this episode with a friend,
- 1:37:04a wrestling fan, a local wrestler. Vince McMahon, he's not busy.
- 1:37:11We'll be back next time when we'll be giving our captains a choice.
- 1:37:15But until then, I leave you with this. It has been said that
- 1:37:18anything can happen here on gate Leapers, but now more than ever, truer
- 1:37:21words have never been spoken. This is a conscious effort on our part to
- 1:37:26open the creative envelope, so to speak, in order to entertain you in
- 1:37:30a more contemporary manner. Even though we call ourselves podcast entertainment because of the
- 1:37:34talking involved. The keyword in that phrase is entertainment. Gate Leapers extends far
- 1:37:41beyond the strict confines of podcast presentation into the wide open environment of broad based
- 1:37:46entertainment. We borrow from such program niches like panel shows like Eight out of
- 1:37:50Ten Cats Does Countdown, or conversation podcasts such as those on Spotify, daytime
- 1:37:57quiz shows like Jeopardy and others, prov podcasts like comedy Bang Bang, and
- 1:38:01other widely accepted forms of entertain Vince didn't we at gate Leapers think that you,
- 1:38:09the audience are quite frankly tired of having your intelligence insulted. We also
- 1:38:15think that you're tired of the same old, simplistic theory of Jason's team versus
- 1:38:18Order's team. Surely, the era of the superhero urging you to say your
- 1:38:23prayers and take your vitamins is definitely passee. Therefore, we've embarked on a
- 1:38:28far more innovative and contemporary creative campaign that is far more invigorating extemporious than ever
- 1:38:34before. However, due to the live nature of Gatekeepers and this studio,
- 1:38:39we encourage some degree of parental discretion as relates to the younger audience allowed to
- 1:38:44access podcasts. Other series programs such as ten xt and drink Apedia need that
- 1:38:49same discretion. We are responsible podcast producers who work hard to bring you this
- 1:38:55outrageous, wacky and wonderful world known as Gateleepers. Though some fifty just give
- 1:39:00me how this speech is. Through some fifty years, Through some fifty years,
- 1:39:06the gate Leapers have been an entertainment mainstake here in North America and all
- 1:39:11over the world. One of the reasons for that longevity is as the times
- 1:39:15have changed, so have we. I'm happy to say that this new vibrant,
- 1:39:18creative direction has resulted in a huge increase in podcast listenership. We are
- 1:39:23also listened across the world, for which we thank Spreaker Prime and iHeartMedia for
- 1:39:28allowing us to have this creative freedom. But most especially, we would like
- 1:39:31to thank you for listening. Gate Leapers is definitely the cure for the common
- 1:39:36show. That's a all right, goodbye, that's a parody of that,
- 1:39:42yet that's the whole speech that Vince gives is like welcoming to the attitude era,
- 1:39:46and that's like verbatim, Yeah, well we just figured he was having
- 1:39:54a stroke. But it was psicon. It was originally called Monday Night Gate
- 1:39:58Leapers before they set yes m
