- 0:58Speaker 3: You can catch Let's Talk every Sunday at one pm
- 1:02Speaker 3: and Thursday at seven pm on five eighty w c HS. Hollis,
- 1:09Speaker 3: I'm we we ran into we ran into each other
- 1:14Speaker 3: at Marshall's homecoming.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Yep, and one of the interesting things. And ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:21Speaker 4: we we.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Hollis and I had a conversation out front right prior
- 1:24Speaker 3: to coming on the show, and this show may jump
- 1:28Speaker 3: around quite a bit just because there's a lot of
- 1:31Speaker 3: different things that we both kind of want to get in.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And one of one of the interesting components to me
- 1:39Speaker 3: and we have we've talked a little bit about homecoming
- 1:41Speaker 3: and the relevance of it. But I probably I saw
- 1:47Speaker 3: I saw my roommate, Clifford Wright, and he was dying
- 1:52Speaker 3: to get to see my mom and my brother because
- 1:55Speaker 3: he hadn't seen him in like me and him hadn't
- 1:58Speaker 3: seen each other probably since maybe eighty four when I
- 2:06Speaker 3: left Marshall, and so he hadn't seen any of the family.
- 2:11Speaker 3: And he got close to my mom because he come
- 2:14Speaker 3: home stay with us, and he remember my brother.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Being young, and he was just dying to see them both.
- 2:21Speaker 3: When you when you when you think about homecoming and
- 2:24Speaker 3: as as a football player, and which is kind of
- 2:29Speaker 3: the same as what we call alumni weekend in the
- 2:33Speaker 3: in the pros, right what you get the opportunity to
- 2:36Speaker 3: get back and see some special people like you might
- 2:40Speaker 3: have had a full team, but there's there's a group
- 2:44Speaker 3: of guys that you hung out with, if you want
- 2:48Speaker 3: to call it that way. You know that you were
- 2:50Speaker 3: with every day, man, and this group of guys that
- 2:54Speaker 3: that I was with this weekend. You don't get to
- 2:58Speaker 3: be Carle the football player. You don't get to be
- 3:02Speaker 3: you know, you don't get you don't get to be
- 3:03Speaker 3: any of that who you become in that situation. It's
- 3:08Speaker 3: Crawley at marsh University, you know, Crawley, the guy that
- 3:12Speaker 3: that I talked to, the guy that I talk crazy.
- 3:15Speaker 4: To, or push him on the shove him around. It's
- 3:19Speaker 4: it's that kind of thing.
- 3:21Speaker 3: And I don't know what the fan base does, you know,
- 3:25Speaker 3: like you know that come back to homecoming, you know,
- 3:29Speaker 3: and maybe it's the same, But man, I don't think
- 3:32Speaker 3: there's anything any greater than coming back to homecoming and
- 3:36Speaker 3: seeing the guys that you spent almost every day all
- 3:41Speaker 3: day with them.
- 3:43Speaker 4: I don't know if there's anything better than that.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Homecoming is definitely just a special time. I mean, that
- 3:48Speaker 5: was kind of I've been to Like obviously, I've been
- 3:50Speaker 5: to the parties at Marshall's home coming for since probably
- 3:53Speaker 5: my first time, at least the first time in the
- 3:55Speaker 5: law time I actually went to the game and did
- 3:57Speaker 5: the tailgate and did all those sort of things. So
- 4:00Speaker 5: like each homecoming I've ever been to, whether it's Ace State,
- 4:02Speaker 5: Marshall at Southern University, it's always a special moment, you know,
- 4:07Speaker 5: where you get to see the people that you haven't
- 4:09Speaker 5: seen in a while and you just get to you know,
- 4:12Speaker 5: sort of strobe down memory lane and just reminisce about
- 4:16Speaker 5: the special time that that collegiate experience was. Right, you
- 4:19Speaker 5: get to see the guys, particularly if you played ball.
- 4:23Speaker 3: I think, do you think playing and I don't really
- 4:25Speaker 3: mean to cut you off, but do you think playing
- 4:29Speaker 3: ball is different than say, being a student and your
- 4:34Speaker 3: friends that come back.
- 4:35Speaker 5: I think it's a little difference because our memories are
- 4:39Speaker 5: maybe a little bit are somewhat different, right, because I particularly,
- 4:44Speaker 5: and I would say, I think it's special for any
- 4:47Speaker 5: collegiate athlete that played on the team, right because you
- 4:49Speaker 5: get to go and back and hang with the people
- 4:50Speaker 5: that you.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Spent the most time with during that period.
- 4:53Speaker 5: But specifically for football, Like, we didn't necessarily get to
- 4:57Speaker 5: participate in homecoming other than just kind of being the show, right,
- 5:01Speaker 5: so now that we get to participate, we get to
- 5:04Speaker 5: hang out, We get to sort of because you're not
- 5:07Speaker 5: just strictly reminiscing about, you know, things you maybe did
- 5:09Speaker 5: off the field, but you're reminiscing about those games and
- 5:11Speaker 5: things on the field. So it's definitely special and just
- 5:14Speaker 5: to see where everybody's you know, at now in life.
- 5:17Speaker 3: You know, on Thursday, I think I went down Thursday night. No,
- 5:25Speaker 3: I went down Friday night and got I got back
- 5:28Speaker 3: home at about two thirty Sunday, I mean Saturday, when
- 5:34Speaker 3: after the game, I probably didn't get home and get
- 5:36Speaker 3: in bed until about four thirty.
- 5:38Speaker 4: That is so far off of my stuff like that. Yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 4: and that's kind.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Of what you that's kind of what happens in that
- 5:46Speaker 3: situation because you're not time is just passing and you're
- 5:50Speaker 3: laughing and joking and reminiscing and you know.
- 5:54Speaker 4: And one of the interesting things that.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Always comes up, it seems to be around home coming
- 6:00Speaker 3: and guys coming around, is the is the difference in
- 6:05Speaker 3: the current situation, you know, versus what it was like.
- 6:11Speaker 3: You know, things look, how do things look now compared
- 6:16Speaker 3: to how things still look?
- 6:17Speaker 4: And there's nothing true as state baby State.
- 6:20Speaker 5: I mean, that's one of the just the points of
- 6:23Speaker 5: conversation always everywhere, just how upgraded the facilities are and
- 6:27Speaker 5: just how how nice it looks and what it would
- 6:29Speaker 5: have been like to play you know this or this
- 6:31Speaker 5: or that. And let me kind of while we're on this,
- 6:33Speaker 5: let me say this, like, how do you think like
- 6:38Speaker 5: just sort of with the movement of college football now?
- 6:41Speaker 5: I mean I've seen a kid the other day and
- 6:43Speaker 5: he's not necessarily a superstar athlete, superstar football player. I
- 6:48Speaker 5: mean his kids literally played at like four or five
- 6:50Speaker 5: different colleges. So like like in twenty years with kind
- 6:54Speaker 5: of the scenarios that are happening now, do you think
- 6:58Speaker 5: like the face of how all those homecomings will be
- 7:01Speaker 5: will be different?
- 7:03Speaker 3: I absolutely, I do think it's I think it's going
- 7:08Speaker 3: to be different. Because so if I'd have gone to
- 7:11Speaker 3: Marshall then went to somewhere else that went to app State,
- 7:15Speaker 3: then went to Furman or somebody like that would have
- 7:17Speaker 3: been in our conference. Like when homecoming shows up, what
- 7:23Speaker 3: groundwork do I have to go back?
- 7:26Speaker 4: You don't. It's like you don't build a connection yeah school.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Because and or those guys they may know you see.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I think it's even more important because if you come
- 7:38Speaker 3: to the game, man, you're looking you know, you're looking
- 7:41Speaker 3: for your guys. And when you came over, bro, I'm
- 7:45Speaker 3: I'm with those dudes. I'm with those guys, like, and
- 7:48Speaker 3: there's other dudes in the in the in the bleachers
- 7:52Speaker 3: in their group.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Do you have a group if you play one year?
- 7:58Speaker 5: Maybe maybe I just don't know because it's like a
- 8:00Speaker 5: lot of those guys they're not even there for the year, right,
- 8:03Speaker 5: So you may come in the summer.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Now you play a season, That's what I'm saying, So
- 8:07Speaker 4: you may come.
- 8:08Speaker 5: I'm talking about the calendar year, right, So you may
- 8:11Speaker 5: like let's say you come in in June or July,
- 8:13Speaker 5: you practice with the team, you do summer workouts, you
- 8:16Speaker 5: go through the season, and then some of those guys.
- 8:18Speaker 4: In January, you know, they're gone.
- 8:20Speaker 5: Yeah, so's it's so I'm just it's gonna be curious
- 8:24Speaker 5: to see in ten years how this thing is going on,
- 8:26Speaker 5: just not just homecoming, but just sort of the environment.
- 8:29Speaker 5: Like even if you you know, if you went to
- 8:31Speaker 5: five different schools and you made it big, you got
- 8:34Speaker 5: a lot of money, Like who do you give to firsts?
- 8:36Speaker 3: Like how does those things work? Like how do those
- 8:39Speaker 3: relationships carry on?
- 8:40Speaker 4: That?
- 8:40Speaker 3: That's crazy and I did not even when we were
- 8:42Speaker 3: talking about going here. That was that was something that
- 8:46Speaker 3: was totally not in my in my thought process, because
- 8:52Speaker 3: like I could, every one of those guys, I played
- 8:56Speaker 3: the maximum years possible with them.
- 8:59Speaker 4: So let's say some four, some three, some two.
- 9:02Speaker 3: You know, but even the guy who maybe came in
- 9:06Speaker 3: one year, he finished Marshall, Yeah.
- 9:09Speaker 4: And it was already a history before him.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Yes, he already catch up on right, he already knew
- 9:13Speaker 3: that guy that I might have played one year with
- 9:15Speaker 3: with maybe with freshman and I was a senior going out.
- 9:18Speaker 3: What they remember is I was there, somebody else was there.
- 9:23Speaker 3: We had a class, and we likely had probably hung
- 9:27Speaker 3: out with them at some point in time.
- 9:29Speaker 5: It's like, and you know, college is such a special time.
- 9:33Speaker 4: It really is.
- 9:34Speaker 5: And I think that you know, particularly if you play
- 9:38Speaker 5: a sport, you play football for us, it's a special
- 9:42Speaker 5: time because you know, not only on the field playing
- 9:45Speaker 5: and doing those things, we're living college students, we're living
- 9:48Speaker 5: a collegiate life. And I think that sort of thing
- 9:51Speaker 5: is just kind of gone, and I don't know if
- 9:54Speaker 5: woever replaced it. I don't know how those guys are
- 9:57Speaker 5: going to like turn out once the career is over
- 9:59Speaker 5: and they have to actually enter the marketplace and you know,
- 10:02Speaker 5: get careers and jobs and different things of that nature.
- 10:04Speaker 5: So it's going to be very interesting to see the
- 10:07Speaker 5: next five to ten years.
- 10:08Speaker 4: How does and.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Just to say this because it just dawned on me, like, so,
- 10:16Speaker 3: how do you come back for the and be part
- 10:19Speaker 3: of the alumni? Like like even alumni folks. Okay, let's
- 10:24Speaker 3: say somebody who maybe maybe maybe some men I own
- 10:27Speaker 3: money Okay, and then you leave go somewhere.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Else, like and then go somewhere and then go somewhere else.
- 10:35Speaker 6: Like.
- 10:37Speaker 4: What are you? Like? Who are you? Who are you befriending? Like?
- 10:40Speaker 4: Where are you?
- 10:41Speaker 5: But I guess in those travels, you know, I'm assuming
- 10:45Speaker 5: like there's probably one place is going to be more
- 10:47Speaker 5: special than the next, maybe depending on how much you
- 10:49Speaker 5: guys win when maybe you developed the you know, your fiance,
- 10:53Speaker 5: your wife, your girlfriend there.
- 10:55Speaker 4: So I'm sure that's what that happens a lot of time.
- 10:57Speaker 5: So I'm sure like it'll be maybe even if you've
- 10:59Speaker 5: gone afford the five different schools, it'll probably be in
- 11:02Speaker 5: that mix. One place it just it's special. I don't know,
- 11:05Speaker 5: but it's you know, hopefully they can draw the same
- 11:09Speaker 5: things we draw out of it, right, I guess so,
- 11:12Speaker 5: so let let me ask you this sort of to
- 11:15Speaker 5: move on from that point when we talk about you know,
- 11:18Speaker 5: homecoming WVU, I believe their homecoming is coming up. WVU
- 11:22Speaker 5: and Marshall both started out rough right, seasons started out rough,
- 11:26Speaker 5: particularly Marshall. I mean, they played Ohio State, played Virginia Tech.
- 11:29Speaker 5: They had a killer murder Rose starting out for you know,
- 11:33Speaker 5: a mid a mid major college, I mean. And in
- 11:35Speaker 5: addition with WVU, they were talking about firing Neil Brown
- 11:39Speaker 5: a couple of weeks ago. Right now, you know, both teams,
- 11:44Speaker 5: both schools are three and two. Wvu's two and oh
- 11:48Speaker 5: in their conference. Marshall was one and oh in their conference.
- 11:51Speaker 5: A big, huge win over aspect, you know. So far
- 11:56Speaker 5: as a media perspective, like it is situation in which
- 12:01Speaker 5: we just got a lot of time on our hands.
- 12:02Speaker 5: We like to pick these guys apart should we be
- 12:04Speaker 5: more patient? And and the second part of that question
- 12:09Speaker 5: is like, Connie, how do you manage that as a
- 12:11Speaker 5: player and type of coach?
- 12:13Speaker 3: First, as far as media, I think the media doesn't
- 12:18Speaker 3: have like I think they want to be the first
- 12:20Speaker 3: to say m coach hoff is on the block. Yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 3: you know, I think that's you remember if guys remember
- 12:29Speaker 3: I said it, I wrote about it. But at the
- 12:33Speaker 3: end of the day, you know, there's no certainty. You
- 12:38Speaker 3: can think that it can look that way. But all
- 12:41Speaker 3: of a sudden, because again to your point, when you're
- 12:43Speaker 3: reading out that that that opening season for Marshall, that
- 12:48Speaker 3: that was no joke. I mean, I don't know who
- 12:52Speaker 3: thought they were gonna win any of those games.
- 12:54Speaker 4: You know, I'm sure that coach Houff didn't. I don't know.
- 12:58Speaker 3: But they beat where they beat the game before, So
- 13:01Speaker 3: I get that. You never know, I get that.
- 13:04Speaker 4: And and and again.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I'm not sure he knew he was gonna win those
- 13:08Speaker 3: games and he but he but he ended up I'm
- 13:10Speaker 3: not saying he didn't think that they could. There was
- 13:12Speaker 3: some possibility. Yeah, tough, Yeah, but he knew it was
- 13:15Speaker 3: gonna be tough. And then all of a sudden, you
- 13:17Speaker 3: get in that game and then like, oh we can
- 13:19Speaker 3: win this game. You win that game. Now you turned
- 13:24Speaker 3: around and here you go playing Ohio State, you know
- 13:29Speaker 3: what I'm saying, And like, but then you jumped in
- 13:32Speaker 3: your conference.
- 13:33Speaker 4: You know, one game in.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Against that State, who is a good team, a good team,
- 13:40Speaker 3: you never know what they might pull up a really
- 13:42Speaker 3: good team and you get fifty something on them.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Yeah, and beat him, beat him down on home coaching,
- 13:48Speaker 4: you know.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Now you know there's some question about defense. You know,
- 13:51Speaker 3: they gave up what thirty some thirty some points. So
- 13:56Speaker 3: but that's a good win. Yeah, that's a good win.
- 14:00Speaker 5: And let me just say this, like going to Marshall Stadium,
- 14:03Speaker 5: it's Marshall State has a great stadium. Like, it's not
- 14:06Speaker 5: necessarily a bad seat in the house.
- 14:08Speaker 2: It's you.
- 14:09Speaker 5: It's a good viewing from any angle. The crowd was
- 14:13Speaker 5: into it, so it was a good environment down there.
- 14:16Speaker 4: I'll say that it is not old Fairfield Stadium, I
- 14:19Speaker 4: can tell you that.
- 14:20Speaker 5: But but like even to your point, you know, when
- 14:22Speaker 5: we talk about Neil Brown, I mean literally they were
- 14:25Speaker 5: talking about firing this man. Now you're finding yourself two
- 14:28Speaker 5: and on in the Big twelve.
- 14:30Speaker 3: And not to say that this is gonna happen that
- 14:32Speaker 3: because again you went out the Big twelve.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Guess where you at you in the playoffs? Yes, And
- 14:38Speaker 5: I'm just saying like, when you look at this schedule,
- 14:41Speaker 5: when you look at who's in the Big twelve w
- 14:43Speaker 5: V you might have a legitimate shot. I mean, because
- 14:46Speaker 5: you talk about Texas Tech, Baylor, Iowa State, Colorado, Arizona,
- 14:50Speaker 5: Arizona State, Cincinnati, UCF Utah Texas. Excuse me, how Texas, Houston, TCU,
- 14:57Speaker 5: Oklahoma State, which they already beat, Baylor, Kansas which they
- 14:59Speaker 5: already beat. They got only they could win some games
- 15:02Speaker 5: in this conference. In it and we may not be
- 15:05Speaker 5: surprised if they find themselves in a position to, you know,
- 15:08Speaker 5: compete for a conference title.
- 15:10Speaker 4: I mean, they're literally there now.
- 15:12Speaker 5: When a couple of weeks ago we're talking about firing
- 15:15Speaker 5: the man, start all over.
- 15:16Speaker 3: I'm gonna make the case that he loses a game
- 15:19Speaker 3: and he if he goes into the conference and starts
- 15:22Speaker 3: and and and was on a streak of losing and
- 15:24Speaker 3: lost a couple Yeah, but he might not be there.
- 15:28Speaker 3: I could, I could agree with that. I mean, and again,
- 15:30Speaker 3: let's cave y'all.
- 15:31Speaker 5: They play, They beat Kansas in Oklahoma State, which at
- 15:34Speaker 5: the bottom of the Big twelve.
- 15:35Speaker 4: But but WU was at the bottom of the Big twelve. Yeah,
- 15:39Speaker 4: because at that point you're assuming that you're there. Yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 4: And again, both the teams, Marshall and WV I think,
- 15:47Speaker 4: you know, I.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Do truly respect both of the coaches and I think
- 15:53Speaker 3: that they are. They're genuinely liked by their players, and
- 15:59Speaker 3: I think every everything else is someone looking at it
- 16:02Speaker 3: from the outside end.
- 16:04Speaker 5: Yeah, And I think what we just talked about with
- 16:07Speaker 5: the movement of collegiate football players, I almost think we
- 16:11Speaker 5: have to take the opposite approach in that we have
- 16:14Speaker 5: to be more patient now with coaches because we agree
- 16:17Speaker 5: because what you can I mean, I think sort of
- 16:20Speaker 5: the opposing argument will say, well, we shouldn't do that
- 16:23Speaker 5: because they can just get players in. But I think
- 16:25Speaker 5: that what we've seen is that that doesn't always result
- 16:28Speaker 5: in immediate wins because you just can't pick up thirty
- 16:31Speaker 5: and forty new guys implant them and thinking Okay, we're
- 16:34Speaker 5: just gonna win. There's a maturation process that needs to
- 16:37Speaker 5: be had. So we gotta be patient, I think with
- 16:40Speaker 5: coaches now, particularly collegiate coaches.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Well, and especially because when when there's a change in coaching,
- 16:47Speaker 3: usually why is that a change.
- 16:49Speaker 4: It's not because they're winning. It's because they're losing.
- 16:53Speaker 3: So you get rid of a coach, you bring a
- 16:54Speaker 3: coach in and your team and that team that he's
- 16:57Speaker 3: coming into is.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Sitting at the bottom of the bear. Yeah. And now
- 17:02Speaker 4: how many years?
- 17:03Speaker 3: How many years are you are you going to allow
- 17:05Speaker 3: him some He used to be three and then we
- 17:07Speaker 3: got the four.
- 17:08Speaker 4: If by four you're not looking good, we gotta let
- 17:11Speaker 4: you go.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I don't know if you can do that now, because
- 17:14Speaker 3: you got as many players leaving, like you said.
- 17:17Speaker 5: So you think what should be we should have less
- 17:20Speaker 5: or you gotta give you more time. I think you
- 17:21Speaker 5: gotta get more time. That's what I think.
- 17:24Speaker 3: You gotta give him five six years because it's just
- 17:27Speaker 3: it's too much movement and you don't get the opportunity
- 17:29Speaker 3: to jail.
- 17:30Speaker 4: I mean, we can.
- 17:31Speaker 5: You know, back in the days, you could get that
- 17:33Speaker 5: freshman class that could be all your recruits and you
- 17:35Speaker 5: can bring up from you know, pubs to.
- 17:37Speaker 3: And they're saying, by the time you get your time,
- 17:39Speaker 3: you get him to junior senior year.
- 17:41Speaker 4: We need to we need to be seeing some some
- 17:44Speaker 4: change here.
- 17:44Speaker 5: But now you don't. You don't have that because you
- 17:46Speaker 5: gotta plug and play. You gotta rosters. I mean, these
- 17:50Speaker 5: things are like legos and tetrics, right, you gotta recruit this,
- 17:54Speaker 5: you gotta bring these guys on. You gotta red shirt
- 17:57Speaker 5: this guy. I mean, it's literally playing like a big
- 17:59Speaker 5: jinga game where you have to figure out who are
- 18:02Speaker 5: the correct pieces, who are the plugging, plugging play guys,
- 18:06Speaker 5: and who are the guys that I have to you know,
- 18:08Speaker 5: bring along.
- 18:08Speaker 3: And the scariest thing to that is is, Okay, so
- 18:11Speaker 3: I need a quarterback. You're my quarterback. I hope, right,
- 18:16Speaker 3: I hope You've already had a good season. You're coming
- 18:20Speaker 3: off of a good season. So I'm thinking, okay, now
- 18:22Speaker 3: we get some Now, all we need is some receivers
- 18:24Speaker 3: and get help us on the line a little bit.
- 18:26Speaker 3: We get some protection. He can throw the ball down
- 18:28Speaker 3: the field. We can we can make a change. Well,
- 18:32Speaker 3: somebody saw that you were good.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Thing.
- 18:36Speaker 3: You know, somebody's negotiating with you with some men I
- 18:40Speaker 3: own money to get you somewhere else.
- 18:41Speaker 5: And see, And I like you said that, because that's
- 18:43Speaker 5: the other part of it now, right, So when you
- 18:45Speaker 5: talk talk about like coach Brown, coach health, Now, not
- 18:48Speaker 5: only do I gotta figure out who is the plug
- 18:51Speaker 5: and play guy who I gotta recruit, I gotta figure
- 18:53Speaker 5: out now I gotta figure out how to pay you. Yes,
- 18:56Speaker 5: And we talked about that extensively. And there's a coach
- 19:00Speaker 5: it's almost you gotta be a part of that conversation. Now,
- 19:04Speaker 5: it's not like you can just pass that off to
- 19:06Speaker 5: the ad or maybe some consulting you hire or some
- 19:09Speaker 5: you know, the third party groups. You as a coach,
- 19:12Speaker 5: I need to know like, Okay, we got this budget,
- 19:14Speaker 5: I can afford to do this. So now you got
- 19:16Speaker 5: math involved, the money in budgets.
- 19:18Speaker 3: And because and then the crazy thing to that is,
- 19:21Speaker 3: if you're the coach, how much do you actually need,
- 19:26Speaker 3: like from year to year, actually not even year to year,
- 19:29Speaker 3: semester the semester semester and that gets even more common
- 19:32Speaker 3: beginning of the season, end of the season. At some point,
- 19:36Speaker 3: I gotta know how much I need to start and
- 19:38Speaker 3: how much I'm gonna need when we get done. Now,
- 19:40Speaker 3: all of a sudden, you were sophomore coming in as
- 19:43Speaker 3: the quarterback. All of a sudden, you play well, you
- 19:46Speaker 3: help us win. We don't won four games this year,
- 19:49Speaker 3: and part of that is because you you as the quarterback.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Now I got I gotta start thinking about I gotta
- 19:56Speaker 3: negotiate with somebody outside of the program to get money
- 20:01Speaker 3: to pay you to keep you here.
- 20:04Speaker 5: And that is so complicated. And and the other part
- 20:07Speaker 5: of that, which I've just now thought about even to
- 20:09Speaker 5: that point where you know, if I am the quarterback
- 20:12Speaker 5: on this team, and you know, maybe I had a
- 20:15Speaker 5: good I had a decent, solid, you know, good season,
- 20:18Speaker 5: and now the coach is saying, well, look, these are
- 20:21Speaker 5: the points of your game where we can get better.
- 20:24Speaker 5: So this is the stuff, these are the things that
- 20:26Speaker 5: need to you need to work on in the off
- 20:27Speaker 5: season in order to flourish for the next season.
- 20:31Speaker 4: And I leave.
- 20:31Speaker 5: Now he got to start with somebody else. He got
- 20:33Speaker 5: to figure out how to evaluate that person because he
- 20:36Speaker 5: didn't have this spending amount of time they spent with me,
- 20:39Speaker 5: you don't even know what this person. So now basically
- 20:42Speaker 5: what I'm saying is, you know your off season program
- 20:45Speaker 5: is dramatically affected.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Right right, and and then.
- 20:50Speaker 3: And this is just again as players that we as
- 20:53Speaker 3: former players, we're sitting here thinking this through, and as
- 20:56Speaker 3: we talk about it, it brings up another point because
- 21:02Speaker 3: I'm automatically thinking the moment, the moment you put me
- 21:05Speaker 3: as a starter, and I've already made a couple of
- 21:09Speaker 3: plays and I become the starter.
- 21:12Speaker 4: I'm already talking about Okay, where's my money? Where my money? Like,
- 21:17Speaker 4: you know, the quarterback from UNLV. Right.
- 21:18Speaker 5: Yes, he came in under precipice that they were gonna
- 21:21Speaker 5: give him some money. He bought out now the three
- 21:23Speaker 5: games in that he like, uh, let's negotiate this thing.
- 21:26Speaker 5: I don't want this three thousand, y'all gotta come up
- 21:28Speaker 5: with some and you.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Just and and And the reality to that is is
- 21:33Speaker 3: sometimes that's not necessarily always possible. When you start talking
- 21:37Speaker 3: about Marshall or WVU, it may be somewhere else.
- 21:40Speaker 4: And then it may be at those schools I'm just saying.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Or even if it is, it just may not be
- 21:45Speaker 5: to the degree that another school exactly because even a
- 21:48Speaker 5: smaller school, heck, if you just got a couple booster
- 21:51Speaker 5: with these pockets who loved the football team, it could
- 21:53Speaker 5: be a no name school that we're not even familiar
- 21:55Speaker 5: with that could possibly pay you more.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Right, Yes, yes, so I just think that.
- 22:03Speaker 3: And I'm not blaming the player because because if I
- 22:06Speaker 3: was in that situation, I know, you know, I would
- 22:09Speaker 3: be asking. I'd be asking for my money. You know
- 22:11Speaker 3: I need some of that. Yeah, I gotta get some
- 22:13Speaker 3: of that. And and the other thing that that creates,
- 22:16Speaker 3: it creates the vision because let's say you're the Let's
- 22:18Speaker 3: say you're the quarterback. Okay, so we know we're supposed
- 22:22Speaker 3: to know that you're gonna make likely you're going to
- 22:26Speaker 3: make the most money. But let's just say you you
- 22:28Speaker 3: you were sophomore going into your junior year, hadn't started before.
- 22:31Speaker 3: I'm a junior and I didn't started since a freshman,
- 22:34Speaker 3: and I'm playing dB.
- 22:38Speaker 4: They give you fifty dollars and I'm getting ten.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Yeah, uh uh, that can't work. Y'all gotta y'all gotta
- 22:47Speaker 3: bring me up. I mean, you got to bring me up.
- 22:50Speaker 3: If you can't bring me up, I gotta go somewhere.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:52Speaker 5: And then I think, just kind of lastly, it also
- 22:55Speaker 5: creates like this inequity, right right, because I think that
- 23:00Speaker 5: like a guy like Arch Manning, who is the nephew
- 23:03Speaker 5: of Eli and Peyton Manning, right, he's from the Manning
- 23:06Speaker 5: tree of quarterbacks, He's in a situation in which he
- 23:10Speaker 5: don't really got to worry about money, right, he could
- 23:13Speaker 5: just kind of go out there and play. He can
- 23:15Speaker 5: afford to be a backup. He can afford really to
- 23:17Speaker 5: take his time to mature, to really walk into the
- 23:22Speaker 5: position instead of sprinting and then really not getting all
- 23:24Speaker 5: the tools and lessons that need to be had so
- 23:26Speaker 5: he can actually afford Think about this, Think about this.
- 23:30Speaker 5: He can afford to be a backup, yes, you see
- 23:33Speaker 5: what I'm saying, and he can afford to really take
- 23:35Speaker 5: his time and then you know, going to the NFL
- 23:37Speaker 5: when it's his time. Where another kid who's not in
- 23:40Speaker 5: that situation, who may be equally as talented, that kid
- 23:44Speaker 5: can't necessarily afford to be a backup, that can't afford
- 23:48Speaker 5: to go to school, that can't finance him in a
- 23:50Speaker 5: way that's going to be not only feasible for himself.
- 23:53Speaker 3: That I am I able to think that I'm I'm
- 23:58Speaker 3: financially secure enough to.
- 24:03Speaker 4: I'm the lowest.
- 24:05Speaker 3: I'll just take the lowest amount on the offense just
- 24:08Speaker 3: because I don't need it.
- 24:10Speaker 5: But what I'm saying is like, you're what I'm saying
- 24:12Speaker 5: is that if you're an arch many and your goal
- 24:15Speaker 5: is to get to it, I'm just assuming that's his
- 24:16Speaker 5: goal is to get to the ROFL. What I'm saying
- 24:19Speaker 5: is that at this point, as a sophomore freshman in college,
- 24:22Speaker 5: money's not necessarily the factor. You see what I'm saying,
- 24:25Speaker 5: where I think another kid who was like maybe a
- 24:28Speaker 5: backup at Texas maybe making twenty thirty grand, and now
- 24:32Speaker 5: you're a good backup. You're, like I said, equally as talent.
- 24:34Speaker 5: And then like Kansas State say hey man, we'll give
- 24:38Speaker 5: you a meal. That kid's probably going to go to
- 24:40Speaker 5: Kansas State and being as he's not, Yeah, and arch
- 24:42Speaker 5: manity doesn't have to because money's not necessarily driving forth.
- 24:46Speaker 5: And that kid who can't afford to be that backup
- 24:49Speaker 5: that just say it, go and go to Kansas and
- 24:50Speaker 5: may find himself in a worser situation.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Can Can the kid? Though? Can the kid?
- 24:57Speaker 3: Because if I'm getting twenty and I think I'm better
- 25:02Speaker 3: than you and you're getting twenty.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Five, I'm mad. But you know what I'm saying.
- 25:07Speaker 3: So is the money? Is the money kind of the king?
- 25:14Speaker 3: Is that making the king? Like whoever's getting the most money, you're.
- 25:17Speaker 4: In the king.
- 25:19Speaker 5: I don't necessarily think it, like I think, I don't
- 25:21Speaker 5: necessarily think that. But what I do think is that
- 25:24Speaker 5: depending on your situation, Right, if you got a situation
- 25:28Speaker 5: at home where maybe you come from a project, so
- 25:31Speaker 5: you come from a trailer parker, you just come from
- 25:33Speaker 5: a very low social economic area, then that is going
- 25:37Speaker 5: there has to be a consideration because you can't walk around.
- 25:41Speaker 5: To your point, you can't walk around and maybe barely
- 25:43Speaker 5: afford to pay your campus rent, or you ain't really
- 25:45Speaker 5: got no car, or you just really don't have enough
- 25:48Speaker 5: money to sustain yourself because your family can't afford thistinue.
- 25:52Speaker 5: So if you're in a situation like that where maybe
- 25:54Speaker 5: you barely scraping by, you making twenty thirty thousand, and
- 25:56Speaker 5: then somebody just says, hey, this other school says, man,
- 26:00Speaker 5: I'll give you a half a million. What you're gonna
- 26:02Speaker 5: do is eighteen nineteen year old kid, you going with that?
- 26:05Speaker 5: I mean to the car analogy, like.
- 26:12Speaker 3: How many times did you jump into somebody's car, whoever
- 26:16Speaker 3: had a car?
- 26:17Speaker 4: I was fortunate enough to have a car.
- 26:19Speaker 3: If I was going somewhere, if we were guys were
- 26:21Speaker 3: talking about going bright, we're.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Loading in, we're loading down in that car.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Like not everybody, what athlete, what starting athlete, possibly does
- 26:33Speaker 3: not have a car.
- 26:34Speaker 5: Not that Like that's what I'm saying. That a big
- 26:36Speaker 5: D one Alabama, Georgia, Texas. They probably are rolling because
- 26:41Speaker 5: now they can afford to make that car payment or
- 26:43Speaker 5: buy that car, or maybe they're getting the car from
- 26:46Speaker 5: you know, that nil deal.
- 26:48Speaker 4: So that's what I'm saying.
- 26:49Speaker 3: So when you're looking at stuff like that, like to
- 26:51Speaker 3: your point, if I'm looking around and I'm a very
- 26:54Speaker 3: highly sought after Holly Tuted, you know, quarterback, and I'm
- 26:58Speaker 3: driving a Honda Civic and and somebody got Mercedes Benz
- 27:02Speaker 3: money for me over there, and and my family don't
- 27:05Speaker 3: get it, and I may be putting myself on the
- 27:10Speaker 3: football field in a worse position. And I'm just saying,
- 27:13Speaker 3: I think that's what ineequate inequality, so that it comes
- 27:18Speaker 3: into play. I think that they've created something that that
- 27:24Speaker 3: they're gonna have to They're gonna have to cap it.
- 27:25Speaker 4: They're gonna have to do something so that.
- 27:30Speaker 3: I'm not because right now, what you're doing is you're
- 27:32Speaker 3: chasing your You're you could you're judging your talent based
- 27:38Speaker 3: on where your money is.
- 27:39Speaker 5: But no, I see I think I think, Yo, Okay,
- 27:42Speaker 5: you're right, but I don't think you're I think in
- 27:45Speaker 5: some situations, I'm not saying, ah, in some situations, you're not,
- 27:50Speaker 5: like you said, you're basing your talent. Your talent is
- 27:52Speaker 5: going where the money at instead of your talent going
- 27:55Speaker 5: to where you're actually going to be able to be
- 27:57Speaker 5: matured and you're gonna learn the fundamentals and you're actually
- 28:01Speaker 5: going to be schooled correctly in order to make that
- 28:03Speaker 5: lead to the next level.
- 28:04Speaker 3: And last thing before we go for a quick break,
- 28:09Speaker 3: see the system the way if and I'm I'm pretty
- 28:12Speaker 3: sure that this is the way the system because it's
- 28:14Speaker 3: it's just like it is.
- 28:15Speaker 4: In the pros.
- 28:16Speaker 3: If you play, if you're the starting quarterback, I can't.
- 28:20Speaker 3: There's no way I can make more than you. If
- 28:22Speaker 3: i'm you know, if I'm your backup, or if i'm
- 28:26Speaker 3: if I'm not in maybe a.
- 28:27Speaker 4: More maybe more seniority, yes, yes, yes.
- 28:31Speaker 3: So if I'm a sophomore and and i'm I'm a
- 28:35Speaker 3: corner and I've made a few plays, but you're the
- 28:37Speaker 3: guy quarterback, I can't. There's no way I can make
- 28:42Speaker 3: maybe even close to your money or your money, or
- 28:45Speaker 3: make more than you because the first the moment you
- 28:48Speaker 3: figure out that I'm making more. But it's a problem.
- 28:54Speaker 3: I mean that's because that's the whole other thing. That's
- 28:56Speaker 3: that that happens in the league. Man Like when you
- 28:58Speaker 3: find out somebody's making this kind of money and and
- 29:01Speaker 3: you're thinking that you're better than them. There's no way
- 29:03Speaker 3: they can be making more than you. Brother, there's a problem.
- 29:06Speaker 3: All right, ladies and gentlemen, we're gonna take a quick

- 30:23Speaker 4: Hollis, we were talking.
- 30:26Speaker 3: A little bit about all the different money situations that
- 30:29Speaker 3: could that could take place, and you have something else
- 30:32Speaker 3: you want to want to jump into.
- 30:34Speaker 5: We got to talk about the Aaron Rodgers situation. As
- 30:37Speaker 5: you know, they again the Jets are struggling this season.
- 30:40Speaker 5: I wouldn't stay struggling. The season is still young. Like
- 30:43Speaker 5: I said, we don't want to rest yet. Yeah, but
- 30:46Speaker 5: again there's been a lot of speculation. Obviously the Jets
- 30:48Speaker 5: fire the coach. A lot of people believe that that's
- 30:51Speaker 5: from Aaron Rodgers. He probably pushed for that, although I
- 30:54Speaker 5: guess he would probably be at me lead Denive Thatt
- 30:57Speaker 5: and just you know, being a former player at that level,
- 31:01Speaker 5: you know, just kind of going back into the locker
- 31:04Speaker 5: room and you know a player has that sort of
- 31:07Speaker 5: clout and power, particularly at the quarterback position. Kind of
- 31:10Speaker 5: how is that view like, how do you how do
- 31:13Speaker 5: the guys think of something like that. When you know
- 31:16Speaker 5: this coach or that coach is gone because of this player,
- 31:19Speaker 5: and the player still remains.
- 31:20Speaker 3: First and foremost. That power is that power is there, Okay,
- 31:25Speaker 3: that power. That power does work. Now, what's amazing to
- 31:32Speaker 3: me is that it's who it is I think is
- 31:38Speaker 3: what matters. But see who he is is not who
- 31:41Speaker 3: he used to be. Okay, And that's my thing. Okay,
- 31:45Speaker 3: and that's my point. I'm glad you went there because imagine,
- 31:48Speaker 3: like I said, you're a young dB. Maybe you know,
- 31:51Speaker 3: your second third year you just signed a long term contract,
- 31:54Speaker 3: so four or five year contract, you signed it. And
- 31:57Speaker 3: now you have this quarterback who's forty plus, who's on
- 32:00Speaker 3: definitely the down side of his career. He's probably got
- 32:03Speaker 3: one or two more seasons left, and yeah, four throws
- 32:07Speaker 3: and he gets the coach fires, Like, how does that
- 32:09Speaker 3: play in your mind? Because here's the here's the other thing. Okay,
- 32:13Speaker 3: I'm the dB second third year. I like my coordinator,
- 32:17Speaker 3: you know, I like my dB coach, which might not
- 32:21Speaker 3: be on the staff but with a new.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Head coach, and the quarterback might not be there because
- 32:26Speaker 4: he's probably going to retire.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Some right, so he he's likely to retire. Like you said,
- 32:31Speaker 3: year two two Max, I think two Max, this is
- 32:38Speaker 3: something that organizations buy into that they can't possibly be
- 32:47Speaker 3: another Aaron Rodgers. They can't, they can't not they can't
- 32:50Speaker 3: be another Joe Montana. But what we see are there
- 32:57Speaker 3: are other great quarterbacks. Yeah, all over the place. No
- 33:01Speaker 3: they're not Joe Montana, but there's something in their own
- 33:04Speaker 3: rights special.
- 33:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 3: And I think what happens is these these guys like,
- 33:10Speaker 3: who's the guy who's gonna walk up and say, hey,
- 33:14Speaker 3: you gotta go go see the coach, Go go go,
- 33:17Speaker 3: go go upstairs to see management.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Who's going who's gonna be that person?
- 33:22Speaker 3: And and and do I think do I think that
- 33:25Speaker 3: that's a possibility of of of of a.
- 33:28Speaker 4: Player having getting a coach fired? Absolutely? If because.
- 33:33Speaker 3: When I come to your team, when I come to
- 33:35Speaker 3: your team, I go to New Orleans, and New Orleans
- 33:39Speaker 3: is not playing a lot of bump and run. Okay,
- 33:42Speaker 3: like I'm that's who That's who I am. That's that's
- 33:45Speaker 3: what I've been able to do. You know, I don't
- 33:50Speaker 3: get I don't have that power. I don't have that
- 33:52Speaker 3: juice to say, Okay, well look look, yeah, I need
- 33:54Speaker 3: to be playing some man to man.
- 33:56Speaker 4: You know.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Now we got to being able to play some man
- 33:58Speaker 3: a man just but that was in conversation and all
- 34:01Speaker 3: that kind of stuff. But imagine being Aaron Rodgers. Yeah,
- 34:06Speaker 3: and I saw it's the whole change.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:08Speaker 5: And I'll say this in defense of Aaron Rodgers. When
- 34:11Speaker 5: we look at the coaching situation and we look at
- 34:13Speaker 5: kind of what happened to Zach Wilson after Aaron Rodgers
- 34:15Speaker 5: got hurt last year and then in sort of the
- 34:18Speaker 5: failure to bring a veteran in to try to salvage
- 34:21Speaker 5: what the seasons was because they had a dynamic defense
- 34:23Speaker 5: last year. So I think maybe management ownership can probably
- 34:27Speaker 5: justify the firing based on what happened last year and
- 34:31Speaker 5: kind of what's happening in the beginning of this year.
- 34:33Speaker 5: But if it it was the case that Aaron Rodgers
- 34:38Speaker 5: pushed for the coast to go, I think that's a
- 34:41Speaker 5: failure on management because I can't let you, as a
- 34:43Speaker 5: forty plus year old downhill quarterback, decide my mediate and
- 34:48Speaker 5: long term future.
- 34:50Speaker 3: I don't know this for a fact, but in the draft,
- 34:56Speaker 3: what did they do in the draft, Because you know,
- 34:58Speaker 3: you got you got a forty seven year old co
- 35:00Speaker 3: what about I'm gonna say, I don't think so. So,
- 35:03Speaker 3: so you put it and why would you not draft
- 35:07Speaker 3: a first round pick? Because if you draft a first
- 35:09Speaker 3: round pick and you're gonna pay him, that puts pressure
- 35:11Speaker 3: on me because you know, if I'm the quarterback, now
- 35:15Speaker 3: you you gotta pay this dude a bunch of money.
- 35:18Speaker 3: You're paying me already. Yeah, I'm your guy.
- 35:22Speaker 5: But she ain't got that much longer. You know what
- 35:24Speaker 5: I'm saying. It's like what people clown what Atlanta was doing. Right,
- 35:27Speaker 5: they had Kirk Cousins. They bath they drafted the kid
- 35:30Speaker 5: out of Washington. Why would you do that? Well, they
- 35:32Speaker 5: know Kirk Cousins probably ain't two, three, four, maybe maybe
- 35:35Speaker 5: three years, and they can bring this kid right along.
- 35:37Speaker 3: And he hasn't won. He hasn't won anything. You know,
- 35:42Speaker 3: he has won, you know, he just is not that guy.
- 35:44Speaker 3: So can we get an experienced guy to maybe make
- 35:47Speaker 3: us a little bit better and then when we get
- 35:48Speaker 3: into the into the draft.
- 35:50Speaker 4: Now we can go into the draft and get us
- 35:52Speaker 4: a quarterback.
- 35:52Speaker 5: So you said the judt should have probably got a
- 35:54Speaker 5: first round Absolutely, I can't disagree with you, Now, why
- 35:59Speaker 5: would you not?
- 35:59Speaker 4: But the only reason you wouldn't is because of Yeah, Rogers,
- 36:03Speaker 4: tell me why you wouldn't go get a quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
- 36:06Speaker 4: Daron Rodgers, And that's great. I can't.
- 36:08Speaker 5: I don't know if I'm in like kind of management
- 36:11Speaker 5: ownership position. I you know, to have some quarterback like
- 36:14Speaker 5: Aaron Rodgers, definitely, you think you could have some things going.
- 36:16Speaker 5: But I but you got a plan for the future, right,
- 36:19Speaker 5: But for the for the quarterback? Who is the dude?
- 36:23Speaker 4: Right? Like I'm still here now?
- 36:27Speaker 3: If you if you, if you tell me, like, look,
- 36:30Speaker 3: we're gonna draft the quarterback first round because we want
- 36:33Speaker 3: him to be under you for a couple of years.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Okay, similar to what Green Bay did with Jordan Love.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Yeah, that that that makes sense. Maybe that makes sense
- 36:43Speaker 3: to him.
- 36:44Speaker 5: And I would say it's a it's more imminent now
- 36:48Speaker 5: because you're a forty plus year old quarterback and you
- 36:50Speaker 5: ain't got that much time. You maybe have this season
- 36:52Speaker 5: and another one and really truthfully, it just maybe this
- 36:55Speaker 5: season and we got to start looking elsewhere.
- 36:57Speaker 3: If you're in if you're in Minnesota and Mike linn
- 36:59Speaker 3: is Is is the general manager, but you ain't having
- 37:03Speaker 3: that conversation with him. You you ain't even you ain't
- 37:05Speaker 3: even walking toward his office to even think that you
- 37:08Speaker 3: might have that conversation.
- 37:10Speaker 4: Right, he's gonna draft.
- 37:11Speaker 3: He's gonna make it to the point if we need
- 37:14Speaker 3: if he thought we need he's management now like he's
- 37:17Speaker 3: you know, if he thinks we need a quarterback, Bro,
- 37:19Speaker 3: we're gonna end up getting a quarterback.
- 37:21Speaker 4: If we end up if we need DB's, we're gonna
- 37:23Speaker 4: get DB's.
- 37:24Speaker 3: He don't care, He wasn't caring about who's who's Who's
- 37:29Speaker 3: Who's gonna get hurt? Whose feelings gonna get hurt? Because
- 37:32Speaker 3: because we're bringing this guy in.
- 37:35Speaker 5: Yeah, and speaking of trading, you know Davontae Adams, Aaron
- 37:41Speaker 5: Rodgers former teammate in Green Bay now Okla Rata and
- 37:45Speaker 5: it's from all speculations, look like he's demand in the trade.
- 37:48Speaker 5: He's a wide receiver, was the all world wide receiver
- 37:51Speaker 5: and he was, you know, Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers.
- 37:56Speaker 5: Kind of what what is the thought process behind that?
- 37:58Speaker 5: You know, you be even a former player and you
- 38:01Speaker 5: just being in a situation that's just not going anywhere.
- 38:05Speaker 5: You probably don't like the system, the head coach from
- 38:08Speaker 5: a business standpoint, do you kind of just have to
- 38:11Speaker 5: get out of there to sort of preserve your career
- 38:13Speaker 5: so your numbers don't totally just.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Dip down again, Never had to experience that, because that's
- 38:18Speaker 3: that wasn't even the thought process back in the day,
- 38:21Speaker 3: right You If you was on a team and things
- 38:23Speaker 3: were going bad and you're like, man, the only way
- 38:26Speaker 3: you could quote get out of it was you you know,
- 38:30Speaker 3: contract had to be up, and you just wasn't hearing
- 38:33Speaker 3: nothing from from management. You You couldn't. You weren't going
- 38:37Speaker 3: to demand a trade that wasn't really going to happen.
- 38:41Speaker 3: So but but to try to figure out like what
- 38:48Speaker 3: he's trying, what he's trying to, where he's trying to go,
- 38:51Speaker 3: and what he's trying to get. But there ain't no
- 38:54Speaker 3: guarantees how many how many the bike is a five
- 38:58Speaker 3: and zero? Okay, who got that? Nobody thought that? So
- 39:03Speaker 3: you can't you can't ever really assume what kind of
- 39:06Speaker 3: team you on, what's getting ready to happen?
- 39:09Speaker 4: Is it going to be good? Going to be bad?
- 39:11Speaker 4: If it starts out.
- 39:12Speaker 3: We talked about Marshall, We talked about the review starts
- 39:14Speaker 3: out bad and all of a sudden, Oh we get
- 39:18Speaker 3: into this run. These dudes are jumping as soon as
- 39:21Speaker 3: anything looks dark.
- 39:23Speaker 5: But I say this though in his defense, I mean,
- 39:25Speaker 5: the Raiders haven't been a quality, good organization in a
- 39:29Speaker 5: lot of years. So at some point, if I'm a
- 39:32Speaker 5: professional and I'm looking long term in order to maybe
- 39:36Speaker 5: get that next contract, I probably gotta be thinking about
- 39:39Speaker 5: moving on from a situation in the organization because, like
- 39:42Speaker 5: you said it, But but if you're not going to
- 39:45Speaker 5: you know, be at your full potential at that particular organization,
- 39:48Speaker 5: you may want to think about moving on, particularly if
- 39:50Speaker 5: things you're not you're losing, you're not getting your numbers.
- 39:54Speaker 5: You know how that goes far as business and contract wise. Yeah,
- 39:56Speaker 5: I mean we've seen Randy Moss not necessarily struggle, but
- 39:59Speaker 5: it wasn't a great time with the Raiders. That just
- 40:02Speaker 5: doesn't seem to be the landing spot for these top
- 40:04Speaker 5: wide receivers.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Well, and I think and and part of that again,
- 40:08Speaker 3: you know, the Raiders may be in this place of
- 40:10Speaker 3: where they're you know, money's not they're not really throwing
- 40:13Speaker 3: money around. And if and if you're not a team
- 40:16Speaker 3: that's not throwing money around, there's no reason for you
- 40:19Speaker 3: to bring in that that top dog.
- 40:22Speaker 4: Player because he's going to demand some money.
- 40:26Speaker 5: But yeah, yeah, but I think you also made demand
- 40:29Speaker 5: just to be on a quality organization too, because I mean,
- 40:32Speaker 5: how much does that come in a factor? But like
- 40:34Speaker 5: I said, because I think you like, you're gonna make
- 40:36Speaker 5: the money regardless right now.
- 40:38Speaker 4: Again, how much you make is determined, you know, in
- 40:40Speaker 4: your contract.
- 40:41Speaker 3: My reason to go to New Orleans, my reason to
- 40:43Speaker 3: go to New Orleans, and I had a couple of
- 40:44Speaker 3: teams that were out there, even even even Pete Carroll
- 40:48Speaker 3: was want to be he was.
- 40:51Speaker 4: With the forty nine ers, okay, And.
- 40:55Speaker 3: My issue was like, I don't want to go anywhere
- 40:59Speaker 3: and have to not necessarily fight for a position or
- 41:05Speaker 3: that I'm not gonna that you're gonna bring me in
- 41:06Speaker 3: and turn around and say, oh, well, you know, yeah,
- 41:09Speaker 3: he's old, he ain't better than what we got, and
- 41:11Speaker 3: we're gonna cut him. I ain't going somewhere to get cut.
- 41:14Speaker 3: If you want me, then I wanted to. I wanted
- 41:16Speaker 3: to guarantee contract for that one year, okay, And so
- 41:20Speaker 3: the Saints offered that to me, and so I am,
- 41:24Speaker 3: you know, to turn down Pete Carroll was a difficult
- 41:27Speaker 3: kind of thing.
- 41:28Speaker 4: But I don't want to go out there.
- 41:29Speaker 3: You got you're telling me, you're telling me you got
- 41:32Speaker 3: some good guys. Okay, that's great. Now this is not
- 41:36Speaker 3: about my skill set. This is about me being thirty three.
- 41:40Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, and I know where I'm at. Okay,
- 41:42Speaker 3: I know, I know that it. You know, maybe I'm
- 41:46Speaker 3: not gonna be the perfect you know, the player that
- 41:49Speaker 3: I thought I was prior to. But I don't want
- 41:52Speaker 3: to go out there and then you send me home.
- 41:54Speaker 5: So I guess what you're saying it was. It really
- 41:56Speaker 5: depends on where you're at in your career. Yes, because again,
- 41:59Speaker 5: if you kind of if you're looking at the you know,
- 42:02Speaker 5: sort of the tail end of the career, do you
- 42:04Speaker 5: want to go somewhere where I can get working stack
- 42:06Speaker 5: of as much as possible, as far as on the
- 42:08Speaker 5: business side.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Right.
- 42:09Speaker 5: However, I think if you're DeVante Adams, where you're sort
- 42:11Speaker 5: of in your prime of your career, you may be thinking, hey,
- 42:14Speaker 5: I want to go to a good organization where I
- 42:16Speaker 5: got a chance to catch a lot of balls and win.
- 42:18Speaker 3: But but that team might not need you.
- 42:22Speaker 5: I don't know, you always need a Devonte Adams man.
- 42:26Speaker 5: I mean, I see what you're saying. They might not
- 42:28Speaker 5: have room for you may already have what they what
- 42:30Speaker 5: they have, but.
- 42:31Speaker 3: Yeah, because because because what's gonna happen is somebody's got
- 42:34Speaker 3: to go.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Yeah, somebody's gotta go.
- 42:36Speaker 3: Now, you might have you might you might not have
- 42:39Speaker 3: a guy who's him, but you may have a guy
- 42:40Speaker 3: that you think man's gonna be. You know, he's gonna
- 42:42Speaker 3: be great in a couple of years. Okay, Now what
- 42:45Speaker 3: are you gonna do with him? Are you You ain't
- 42:48Speaker 3: gonna cut him?
- 42:50Speaker 4: You know? And and and what's he gonna do?
- 42:52Speaker 3: Because it ain't about really the ownership now because now
- 42:56Speaker 3: it's the player that you gotta that you're gonna replace
- 42:59Speaker 3: him with.
- 43:00Speaker 4: What is he gonna do? Right? He's leaving? Yeah, I
- 43:03Speaker 4: mean it's trade, so yeah, you know he he coming in.
- 43:08Speaker 3: The issue with those kinds of trades, somebody's what team
- 43:12Speaker 3: do you know don't have a number one?
- 43:15Speaker 4: I mean every team got a number one, but they
- 43:17Speaker 4: may not be the number one, you know.
- 43:20Speaker 3: But they think that they think that Okay, yeah, they
- 43:24Speaker 3: think that getting paid that.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Yeah, So why are we bringing him in?
- 43:30Speaker 3: Why am I gonna bring him in because it's gonna
- 43:32Speaker 3: you know, because again, like you said, it's business, right, Yeah,
- 43:35Speaker 3: business is money. So now the question will will be
- 43:39Speaker 3: who will be willing to throw that money out there?
- 43:42Speaker 5: Yeah, And I mean he turns thirty two this season,
- 43:46Speaker 5: which thirty two now is a little different than thirty
- 43:48Speaker 5: two back in the day. Yes, because of how they
- 43:50Speaker 5: treat their body in different things.
- 43:52Speaker 3: In that nature, I give you that's making seventeen and
- 43:54Speaker 3: a half million a year, schedule to make thirty six
- 43:58Speaker 3: million in between twenty five and twenty six, twenty six
- 44:04Speaker 3: if he if and again to that point, if if
- 44:07Speaker 3: somebody's gonna be willing to pay that, I'm gonna pay
- 44:09Speaker 3: that because he's originally signed a seventy two million dollar
- 44:13Speaker 3: contract which is not fully guaranteed. So I mean, yeah,
- 44:17Speaker 3: there's a lot to consider now, like I said, because
- 44:19Speaker 3: you can't even just consider whether he's number one receiver,
- 44:22Speaker 3: how he fits in bla bla. You have to consider
- 44:24Speaker 3: taking on that contract to or something similar to it.
- 44:26Speaker 4: Absolutely, and again to the guys that you've already paid.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that I think that becomes that becomes
- 44:34Speaker 3: a huge challenge just simply because you know, we don't
- 44:40Speaker 3: have we don't, we don't.
- 44:41Speaker 4: We don't have to do this, you know what I'm saying,
- 44:44Speaker 4: We don't have to do this. And if we do it,
- 44:47Speaker 4: what does it do? Does it?
- 44:48Speaker 3: Does it mess up the chemistry? And again, chemistry is
- 44:53Speaker 3: one of the things that I think is is under
- 44:58Speaker 3: it's under the under the rug when it comes to money,
- 45:02Speaker 3: because some of these dudes are only out here for
- 45:06Speaker 3: the money. And I'm not even saying, yeah, they want
- 45:10Speaker 3: to they want to make it their business, right, So
- 45:12Speaker 3: I want to go to the highest bidder. Okay, that's fine,
- 45:15Speaker 3: But if you're on the other side of that, I
- 45:19Speaker 3: don't want to just get a guy who just wants
- 45:20Speaker 3: to get money, even if he's just if he's good,
- 45:23Speaker 3: I want to I need chemistry. I need because what
- 45:26Speaker 3: is my goal is if my team is if the
- 45:31Speaker 3: goal is to go to the super Bowl. But I
- 45:32Speaker 3: don't need that knucklehead guy just because he's good.
- 45:36Speaker 4: And I mean, yeah, that's another fact that he considered
- 45:38Speaker 4: as well.
- 45:38Speaker 3: And not saying that, you know, Adams, I'm not yeah,
- 45:40Speaker 3: I'm not saying that, but I'm just saying, you don't
- 45:43Speaker 3: even want to create a situation where a guy is
- 45:46Speaker 3: coming in and his expectation is he's going to be
- 45:49Speaker 3: the number one guy, and maybe he's not going to be.
- 45:51Speaker 3: Maybe he's not going to be your number one guy.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Even though he's a number one guy. You already got
- 45:57Speaker 3: that guy who doesn't have that guy regardless of if
- 45:59Speaker 3: he he's good or not, he's considered himself the number one.
- 46:04Speaker 3: You have given him the credit as being the number one.
- 46:07Speaker 5: I didn't necessarily think about that far as like positionals,
- 46:10Speaker 5: you know, coming in particularly like mid season, and hey,
- 46:13Speaker 5: I'm asserting myself because I'm.
- 46:15Speaker 4: That right, Yeah, because he's coming in as one. Yeah.
- 46:19Speaker 5: So jumping back to college football just for a second,
- 46:21Speaker 5: talking about Alabama losing the Randy Like, like I want
- 46:26Speaker 5: to say, whoever bet Vandy is still in Vegas right
- 46:30Speaker 5: now living it up. I get if you pissed a
- 46:33Speaker 5: couple of thousand on that team right now, you maybe
- 46:36Speaker 5: can buy a house or a car. Because this is
- 46:38Speaker 5: something I never would have seen coming Alabama that beat Georgia,
- 46:42Speaker 5: number one team to come country rivalry, all that big,
- 46:45Speaker 5: huge win, great game, and I don't think probably what
- 46:48Speaker 5: it looked like to me watching the game, they just
- 46:50Speaker 5: didn't they weren't They didn't come down from that game.
- 46:56Speaker 3: I've said this before and I say it again. Nick
- 46:59Speaker 3: Satan's not losing that game, man. Nick Saban is not
- 47:02Speaker 3: losing that game. I'm just telling you because you Nick
- 47:07Speaker 3: Saban is not that team is is not going to
- 47:11Speaker 3: lay down because they are continue celebrating a win and
- 47:16Speaker 3: carry that over into a nown to what's a loss
- 47:20Speaker 3: to a.
- 47:20Speaker 4: Team that.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Shouldn't even shouldn't even play You could be playing your backups. Okay, yes,
- 47:29Speaker 3: Nick Saban is that's not happening.
- 47:31Speaker 4: Now.
- 47:32Speaker 3: That does not mean that the coach is not a
- 47:33Speaker 3: great coach. It doesn't mean that. But I'm just making
- 47:36Speaker 3: the case. When you want to ask the question the
- 47:40Speaker 3: relevance of Nick Saban here is here's the relevance of him.
- 47:44Speaker 4: You don't you don't lose that kind of game under
- 47:47Speaker 4: a Nick Saban.
- 47:48Speaker 5: Yeah, he seems pretty you know, stern in that. I
- 47:51Speaker 5: don't know if he necessary, but but I'll say this
- 47:54Speaker 5: though too. Nick Saban also did say on the tele
- 47:57Speaker 5: on the broadcast, hey, you know, he he really downplayed
- 48:01Speaker 5: Bandy and like, we don't lose the teams like that.
- 48:04Speaker 5: So but I'm thinking in his preparation. I don't know
- 48:07Speaker 5: if the team whoever he's playing, really comes into mind.
- 48:11Speaker 5: The preparation is the preparation right with him, it's always
- 48:15Speaker 5: the same. It's consistent.
- 48:16Speaker 4: Yes, yes, and see that that.
- 48:21Speaker 3: My thought process of Nick Saban is the moment that
- 48:25Speaker 3: you just won this big game, and that that that
- 48:28Speaker 3: you've got this little game coming up. Yeah, the very
- 48:32Speaker 3: first thing app before we even get done celebrating the win.
- 48:37Speaker 3: We're the very first thing I'm talking about Now we
- 48:40Speaker 3: need to take the same kind of energy into next week.
- 48:45Speaker 4: We don't.
- 48:45Speaker 3: We don't want to look at who the team is.
- 48:46Speaker 3: We don't want to look at the record, we don't
- 48:48Speaker 3: want to look at none of that. We want to
- 48:50Speaker 3: play at this same level they want to practice.
- 48:53Speaker 4: First thing. We talking about playing at the level that
- 48:56Speaker 4: we play at.
- 48:57Speaker 3: It was extremely difficult because I mean, you're talking about
- 49:01Speaker 3: playing Georgia. It's Georgia and Alabama's top five teams at
- 49:05Speaker 3: the time, right, that's basically a super Bowl, a college
- 49:08Speaker 3: football championship, not in the middle of the season, in
- 49:11Speaker 3: the beginning of in the September October. That's basically the
- 49:15Speaker 3: biggest game probably almost of the season, other than the
- 49:18Speaker 3: championship game, and I don't know how you come down
- 49:22Speaker 3: from that in a week, and then you got to
- 49:24Speaker 3: face a team like that, which you, like you said,
- 49:27Speaker 3: we can play our third string and possibly beat them.
- 49:29Speaker 3: It is. It is really difficult. But now let's go
- 49:34Speaker 3: back and and I'm sure that you can't recall, nor
- 49:38Speaker 3: can I recall. Maybe the listeners maybe can't recall, but
- 49:42Speaker 3: maybe have to go look it up.
- 49:46Speaker 4: Do you remember? Can you remember a game?
- 49:49Speaker 3: Because I'm sure that Nick Saban had some games that
- 49:52Speaker 3: were big games and then came back and it was
- 49:55Speaker 3: playing somebody that was they're so so I'm not sure
- 49:59Speaker 3: that Nick Saban lost it of those games.
- 50:01Speaker 4: We would have heard about that.
- 50:02Speaker 5: I mean, I can't, but I think that would have
- 50:05Speaker 5: been brought up somewhere, and I don't think and why
- 50:08Speaker 5: he was on his run at least, and he's like
- 50:10Speaker 5: maybe in the beginning somewhere.
- 50:11Speaker 4: No way Nick Saban loses a game like that.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Why because he's gonna whatever his magic was, whatever his
- 50:19Speaker 3: conversations were in the locker room. On the field, you're
- 50:24Speaker 3: ready to play that team, just like you were ready
- 50:27Speaker 3: to play the number one team or number two team.
- 50:30Speaker 3: Everybody don't know how to do that. I don't know
- 50:32Speaker 3: how to do that. You know what I'm saying, You
- 50:34Speaker 3: just don't. That's not something that you just wake up
- 50:38Speaker 3: and do. You have to have that has to be
- 50:41Speaker 3: who you are. And Nick Saban, to me, I don't
- 50:45Speaker 3: think anybody can can top all of the different things
- 50:51Speaker 3: that he constructed in the coaching system, not just him,
- 50:56Speaker 3: but his coaching staff, and what he drew into his
- 51:01Speaker 3: into his players, what he forced into his players, and
- 51:04Speaker 3: how he made them play and how they enjoy playing,
- 51:07Speaker 3: and how they understood who they were Alabama, Okay, and
- 51:13Speaker 3: you don't.
- 51:14Speaker 4: Alabama does not lose.
- 51:17Speaker 3: Football games the teams that they're supposed to beat, and
- 51:21Speaker 3: they beat the teams that everybody thinks that they might
- 51:23Speaker 3: not be able to. That's what we do here at Alabama.
- 51:27Speaker 3: I'm not I'm sure that's not what he said, but
- 51:29Speaker 3: I'm saying.
- 51:30Speaker 4: That might have said it.
- 51:31Speaker 3: That's who I think Nick Saban is, and I think
- 51:36Speaker 3: his players bought that. You come in, you was, you
- 51:39Speaker 3: were with Nick Saban for two years. You come in
- 51:42Speaker 3: and you get a whole nother kind of speech. All right, guys,
- 51:44Speaker 3: this team's you know, you know, let's go. We can
- 51:48Speaker 3: get them that ain't enough, that ain't enough, that ain't
- 51:52Speaker 3: that ain't.
- 51:53Speaker 5: Enough to be san See, this is why for those
- 51:56Speaker 5: who don't understand athletics, for those who don't understand sport,
- 52:01Speaker 5: that's why a coach is critical. You gotta have the
- 52:04Speaker 5: right if you're if you're in, particularly if you're winning games.
- 52:06Speaker 5: I'm just talking about we're talking about purely w's and l's.
- 52:10Speaker 5: A coach in that is critical because again, I think
- 52:15Speaker 5: a lot of us who have coached before can probably
- 52:18Speaker 5: get you up for the big game.
- 52:20Speaker 4: But yeah, that's the easy part. We can get you up.
- 52:22Speaker 5: We can do all the preparation, but it's those little that, hey,
- 52:24Speaker 5: we're supposed to win, and sometimes those become difficult. And
- 52:28Speaker 5: I know that's been a criticism of coach huff Right,
- 52:31Speaker 5: he give them up for the big games, and they
- 52:32Speaker 5: sort of lose the little ones.
- 52:33Speaker 3: Right, because he's a because he's a he's a good talker,
- 52:36Speaker 3: you know, and he's a motivator.
- 52:39Speaker 4: What's happening is, I think is the motivation isn't always.
- 52:44Speaker 3: I don't know, connect. It may not connect. He's not
- 52:48Speaker 3: he's probably putting it the same way. But the players
- 52:51Speaker 3: not taking it. They're not hearing it because they're looking
- 52:53Speaker 3: at the film, they're looking at the record.
- 52:55Speaker 4: They like, oh man, and that's one of the most dangerous.
- 52:58Speaker 5: Absolutely, you got to take everybody as you know, like
- 53:00Speaker 5: Lou Holtz they win a championship to yeah, I got
- 53:03Speaker 5: a championship team.
- 53:04Speaker 4: We gotta come out strong, you know, I think, and
- 53:06Speaker 4: you know, to.
- 53:08Speaker 3: The public, it's kind of the same kind of thing
- 53:12Speaker 3: when you when you start to think about you're like
- 53:15Speaker 3: a kid, like you think he's good and so you
- 53:21Speaker 3: just think he can just go out and be good
- 53:24Speaker 3: every game against every team. It's it's a different it's
- 53:29Speaker 3: a it's a different mindset, bro. When you go in
- 53:33Speaker 3: when you go into Chicago Bright, when Chicago was everything right,
- 53:39Speaker 3: you go into Chicago Bright, be just a half an
- 53:46Speaker 3: inch off for you're getting killed. Yeah, you know, when
- 53:50Speaker 3: you go into Chicago, you better be like like every
- 53:54Speaker 3: every one of your senses better be working top notch
- 53:58Speaker 3: if not a buve.
- 53:59Speaker 5: You see, I don't know. I just don't know how
- 54:02Speaker 5: you if you're Bama, I don't I do not understand.
- 54:05Speaker 5: I don't know how you come off that win and
- 54:07Speaker 5: have that against Vandy.
- 54:10Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 54:11Speaker 3: I don't know how you muster that up. I mean,
- 54:12Speaker 3: like you said, maybe a saving magic. I don't know,
- 54:14Speaker 3: maybe you got the pixie dust, the mountain dust, whatever.
- 54:17Speaker 3: I don't know how you muster that up after And
- 54:20Speaker 3: I'm not saying in general, I'm saying particularly after a
- 54:24Speaker 3: win like Georgia, in a game like that, and I think,
- 54:27Speaker 3: and I think, like you know, I think there's a
- 54:31Speaker 3: I think there's a coach that has all the all
- 54:36Speaker 3: the magic in his hand, and he's at a team,
- 54:41Speaker 3: he's at a program that he that he builds it,
- 54:44Speaker 3: and and they start to buy into that belief.
- 54:49Speaker 4: Yeah, Chicago, bro.
- 54:52Speaker 3: The thought that they was gonna not just beat you,
- 54:55Speaker 3: not just win the game, but they were gonna beat
- 54:57Speaker 3: you down. They were gonna physically beat you down so
- 55:00Speaker 3: that the next time you come in here to play again,
- 55:03Speaker 3: you ain't gonna forget.
- 55:04Speaker 4: That Alabama had that.
- 55:08Speaker 3: You come in as a recruit, a freshman at that program,
- 55:13Speaker 3: what's the first thing you know? You probably ain't playing
- 55:16Speaker 3: why because you not in tune yet? You think you
- 55:20Speaker 3: can go out and celebrate it. You know, you can
- 55:22Speaker 3: have played in one game and not not here. You
- 55:27Speaker 3: needed to have gone somewhere else. I just think that
- 55:31Speaker 3: that program under Nick Saban, certain teams you know, old
- 55:36Speaker 3: Packers back in the day. I mean, and I think
- 55:39Speaker 3: this is all still connected to as far back as
- 55:41Speaker 3: you want to go. The team and the connection with
- 55:44Speaker 3: the coach and if they can find a marriage that
- 55:48Speaker 3: is unseparable.
- 55:51Speaker 4: Broh, thank you. I mean, I mean, you're right.
- 55:56Speaker 5: I think we had the same thing with Phil Jackson.
- 55:58Speaker 5: We had the same thing as say, oh he had
- 56:00Speaker 5: great players, but they wouldn't win the chips till he came.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Exactly what I mean, and again, look at that, look
- 56:06Speaker 3: at the personality that we build. We build that personality.
- 56:11Speaker 3: He's he is who he is, right, like Phil Jocks said,
- 56:14Speaker 3: is just who he is. But who he was to
- 56:16Speaker 3: those players and what he brought to those what he
- 56:19Speaker 3: was saying practice, what he expected from him.
- 56:22Speaker 4: They were like, oh you expect this, I mean because
- 56:26Speaker 4: go back to state. Well, you know, my first year.
- 56:29Speaker 3: Down the state or when you're there, I'm trying to
- 56:34Speaker 3: I'm trying to convince everybody to be where top of
- 56:38Speaker 3: your game, as top shape as you can play, give
- 56:41Speaker 3: everything that you got. Everybody wasn't on board with that.
- 56:46Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying everybody wasn't they weren't they?
- 56:49Speaker 3: You know? And so when you when so now I'm
- 56:52Speaker 3: pushing you, You're okay with that push. I'm pushing somebody else.
- 57:00Speaker 4: Man.
- 57:01Speaker 3: I don't like coach coach tripping. Man, he always da
- 57:04Speaker 3: da dada. How can a coach be tripping if he
- 57:07Speaker 3: wants the best out of you? You know what I'm saying,
- 57:12Speaker 3: Because at the end of the day, you can say,
- 57:15Speaker 3: you can say that coach is tripping if you're not playing, right,
- 57:18Speaker 3: you know that's that's justifiable, right because you think you
- 57:21Speaker 3: should play. But if you playing, you rotating in you
- 57:25Speaker 3: you in a regular schedule like you get in the game,
- 57:28Speaker 3: you doing something you can't you can't. There's nothing you
- 57:32Speaker 3: can say about the coach because I'm giving you an
- 57:37Speaker 3: opportunity to play. Now, I'm trying to tell you, dude,
- 57:41Speaker 3: you're better than that. You hear me, Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 57:45Speaker 3: Then you go do whatever you want to do it evening.
- 57:48Speaker 3: And then by the time we get the game time,
- 57:50Speaker 3: you ain't ready to go.
- 57:51Speaker 4: You ain't. You ain't even playing full You can't play.
- 57:54Speaker 3: You can't play top knots cause you because you ain't
- 57:59Speaker 3: put in no work in the week, you didn't try
- 58:02Speaker 3: to stayed up too late.
- 58:04Speaker 4: Yeah, and now the coach gets all that blame. But
- 58:09Speaker 4: I mean that's the game, right, that is the game.
- 58:11Speaker 4: I mean, I to your point, do I think I
- 58:13Speaker 4: think you might be right?
- 58:14Speaker 3: Man.
- 58:15Speaker 4: I think at the end of the day, saving him
- 58:17Speaker 4: was probably the missing piece of that game. Yes, sir,
- 58:20Speaker 4: And it doesn't mean that this team won't be a
- 58:22Speaker 4: national champion. Yeah, I don't know now, but and you
- 58:26Speaker 4: know who else.
- 58:27Speaker 3: Is not thinking that the other teams that they play
- 58:30Speaker 3: because if that, if that happened, Oh, we can catch them.
- 58:34Speaker 4: Yeah, we just need to catch them the right time. Yep. Yeah.
- 58:40Speaker 3: Well, ladies and gentlemen, we got to get out of
- 58:41Speaker 3: here and we will be back next week. Thank you,
- 58:45Speaker 3: break your wall.
