- Lucas: Ciao, and welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for another tiny lesson? Lucas: Absolutey. In our last few episodes, we learned numbers from one to fifteen. Today we're going a little higher. Luna: Ooh, I love counting. What's our range today? Lucas: We'll learn sixteen to twenty. That's sedici, diciassette, diciotto, diciannove, and venti. Luna: Okay, let's start with sixteen. Sedici? Lucas: Exactly. Sedici. Say it slowly: seh-dee-chee. Luna: Seh-dee-chee... Sedici. Lucas: Perfect. In English, sedici is sixteen. So if you want sixteen euros, you'd say sedici euro. Luna: Sedici euro. Got it. Lucas: Now seventeen: diciassette. Dee-chah-set-teh. Luna: Dee-chah-set-teh... Diciassette. That's a mouthful. Lucas: It is. But you got it. Diciassette means seventeen. Luna: Diciassette. Okay. Lucas: Now eighteen: diciotto. Dee-choh-toh. Luna: Dee-choh-toh... Diciotto. Lucas: Yes. And nineteen: diciannove. Dee-chah-noh-veh. Luna: Dee-chah-noh-veh... Diciannove. That one feels like a tongue twister. Lucas: It's a bit long, yes. Let's break it: dici-an-nove. Diciannove. Luna: Dici-an-nove... Diciannove. Lucas: Great. And finally, twenty: venti. Ven-tee. Luna: Venti. That's easy. Lucas: Venti is twenty. And fun fact, venti also means 'winds' in Italian, but for now it's twenty. Luna: Oh, that's cute. So venti can be twenty or winds? Lucas: Exactly. Context helps. But today, venti is twenty. Luna: Let me try them all together. Sedici, diciassette, diciotto, diciannove, venti. Lucas: Wow, that was great! You got diciannove a little flat on the last syllable, but overall solid. Luna: How should I fix it? Lucas: Try diciannove with a bit more emphasis on 'no': dee-chah-NOH-veh. Luna: Dee-chah-NOH-veh... Diciannove. Better? Lucas: Much better. Nailed it. Luna: So now I can count from one to twenty in Italian. That's cool. Lucas: Absolutely. Let's imagine a little scene. You're at a café and you want to order a cappuccino that costs two euros. Luna: Two euro? That's a deal. Lucas: Right? So you'd say, 'Un cappuccino, per favore.' The barista says, 'Sono due euro.' You hand over a twenty euro note. Luna: So I'd say, 'Ecco venti euro.' Lucas: Yes! Ecco venti euro. Perfect. And if you needed to say you want sixteen euros' worth of something? Luna: Sedici euro, per favore. Lucas: There you go. Let's practice the whole set one more time. Repeat after me: sedici. Luna: Sedici. Lucas: Diciassette. Luna: Diciassette. Lucas: Diciotto. Luna: Diciotto. Lucas: Diciannove. Luna: Diciannove. Lucas: Venti. Luna: Venti. Lucas: Now from sedici to venti in order. Luna: Sedici, diciassette, diciotto, diciannove, venti. Lucas: Flawless. You're ready to count Italian money now. Luna: Grazie, Lucas. That was fun. Lucas: Prego. Remember, practice makes progress. Try counting things around your house today in Italian. Luna: I'll count my books: sedici, diciassette... Lucas: Exactly. Thanks for joining us on Fexingo. Keep practicing and we'll see you next time. Luna: Ciao! Lucas: Ciao ciao!
