- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast. It's our week
- 0:08Speaker 1: three preview. As always, hit that like and subscribe button
- 0:11Speaker 1: so we can continue to give you great content. We're
- 0:14Speaker 1: starting off with the Seahawks, the Super Bowl champs playing
- 0:18Speaker 1: the Washington Commanders. Now, I'm not sure this is going
- 0:21Speaker 1: to be too great of a game. There's a lot
- 0:24Speaker 1: of things going wrong for the Washington Commanders right now.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels, another elbow injury. Now everybody's second-guessing the decision
- 0:32Speaker 1: not to have some kind of surgery to repair that.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I'm not even sure if there is a surgery that
- 0:36Speaker 1: would have helped this situation. People are blaming Dan Quinn.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I don't know about that. What do you think about
- 0:42Speaker 1: that situation, Mitchell? Obviously, I have the Seahawks in control
- 0:45Speaker 1: of this game for a number of reasons that we're
- 0:47Speaker 1: going to go down. But I think that Jaden Daniels
- 0:50Speaker 1: situation is the news of the day.
- 0:51Speaker 2: It is the news of the day. And you got
- 0:53Speaker 2: to look at it. It looked like an absolute freak injury, right?
- 0:56Speaker 2: He trips over the guard perfectly. goes to stabilize himself
- 1:00Speaker 2: and hurts himself. I don't want to critique somebody's body type,
- 1:04Speaker 2: but there was concerns about Jaden Daniels coming out of
- 1:07Speaker 2: college because he's skinny. You know, it could adding more
- 1:11Speaker 2: muscle have helped him. I don't know, but here we
- 1:14Speaker 2: are year two of this same injury. And now the
- 1:17Speaker 2: commanders turn to Marcus Mariota and face the absolute red
- 1:21Speaker 2: hot Seattle Seahawks. Richard, this team has won 12 in
- 1:25Speaker 2: a row. They broke down. The longest win streak in
- 1:29Speaker 2: franchise history last week, breaking the 2005 Seattle Seahawks record
- 1:35Speaker 2: led by Matt Hasselbeck and Sean Alexander. Credit to this team.
- 1:40Speaker 2: They're starting to stack wins. And Richard, I don't see
- 1:43Speaker 2: anyone stopping them anytime soon. This Commander's team, good luck
- 1:48Speaker 2: on Sunday. I think it's going to be a long one.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I think Drew Locke has had plenty of time to
- 1:54Speaker 2: prepare for this game. He's settled in as a starter.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And I'm looking forward to this dark side defense getting
- 2:00Speaker 2: after Marcus Mariota. Richard, what do you expect to see
- 2:04Speaker 2: on Sunday when the Seattle Seahawks take on the Washington Commanders?
- 2:08Speaker 1: Well, I think since Mike McDonald has taken over, the
- 2:11Speaker 1: Seahawks are, I think, 16-2 on the road. 16-2. So
- 2:17Speaker 1: for some reason, I'm not going to speak anything jinxing
- 2:20Speaker 1: into existence, but I expect them to bring their defense
- 2:23Speaker 1: and their run game. I expect them to try to
- 2:25Speaker 1: get the run game going. They haven't had as much
- 2:27Speaker 1: success as they've wanted, so I'm sure they're going to
- 2:30Speaker 1: try to lean on that. Obviously, the offensive player of
- 2:32Speaker 1: the year, Jackson Smith and Jigba, is going to be
- 2:35Speaker 1: a factor in this game. Again, I expect them to
- 2:38Speaker 1: try to get Rashid Shahid involved. This is a perfect game.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Not a great secondary that you're going against. Not a
- 2:43Speaker 1: great pass rush. So try to get him the ball.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Try to find the rhythm there. Defensively, I expect them
- 2:50Speaker 1: to put a lot of pressure on Marcus Mariota. I
- 2:52Speaker 1: don't see... Mike McDonald taking anything for granted. He never
- 2:55Speaker 1: takes anything for granted. I'm sure he's preparing for the
- 2:58Speaker 1: Washington Commanders just like he prepared for the New England
- 3:01Speaker 1: Patriots in the Super Bowl. Mike McDonald is one of
- 3:04Speaker 1: the most detailed, attention to detail coaches in the National
- 3:07Speaker 1: Football League. So I expect that to be a really
- 3:11Speaker 1: fun game for this defense. Their number one in pass
- 3:14Speaker 1: defense right now, giving up only 136 yards per game.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Their second in scoring defense, second in total defense, only
- 3:21Speaker 1: have given up Eight and a half points per game,
- 3:23Speaker 1: so that's been fantastic. And they're taking the ball away.
- 3:26Speaker 1: They're third in the league in takeaways, four interceptions. Julian Love,
- 3:30Speaker 1: all pro Julian Love. I want you guys to say
- 3:32Speaker 1: it with me. I know everybody is like, man, but
- 3:37Speaker 1: I don't want to hear it. Julian Love right now
- 3:40Speaker 1: is playing the best at the safety position in the
- 3:43Speaker 1: National Football League. And it's not just the interceptions. It's
- 3:46Speaker 1: the command of the defense. It's the spots on the field.
- 3:48Speaker 1: It's the deterrents. He's doing a great job of deterring
- 3:51Speaker 1: passes and also great tackler. He's the linchpin, one of
- 3:59Speaker 1: the linchpins, because that defense has a ton of linchpins.
- 4:02Speaker 1: It starts with Leonard Williams up front. The big cat
- 4:05Speaker 1: is doing a great job controlling that line. Jaron Reed,
- 4:09Speaker 1: Byron Murphy, again, having a fantastic campaign, and it's not
- 4:13Speaker 1: always showing up on the stat sheets. This defense is stacked.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Ernest Jones. Devin Witherspoon, of course, you can't go without
- 4:20Speaker 1: mentioning him. Josh Jobe has been fantastic. So I expect
- 4:23Speaker 1: that to continue. I expect him to look to impose
- 4:27Speaker 1: their will on this Washington Commanders team and improve these statistics.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Richard, the Seahawks are obviously 2-0, big wins the last
- 4:35Speaker 2: couple weeks, but there's always areas for improvement. What do
- 4:38Speaker 2: you think needs to be the focus this week? How
- 4:41Speaker 2: does this team improve? They've obviously already won 12 in
- 4:44Speaker 2: a row, setting a franchise record. But how does this
- 4:47Speaker 2: team continue to get better as the season progresses?
- 4:53Speaker 1: Mike McDonald says it all the time. They're always chasing edges.
- 4:57Speaker 1: So I expect them to look at the things they
- 5:00Speaker 1: have not done well. And again, they have not run
- 5:02Speaker 1: the ball particularly well. I know they've tried. They've put
- 5:05Speaker 1: some effort into it. But that's one of the edges
- 5:07Speaker 1: I'm sure they want to sharpen. I'm sure they want
- 5:09Speaker 1: to sharpen just continuing to be explosive offensively, continuing to
- 5:12Speaker 1: put points on the board defensively. Defending the run, defending
- 5:18Speaker 1: the run. They've given up a little bit of leaky
- 5:20Speaker 1: yardage here and there. And it's probably just not up
- 5:22Speaker 1: to the standard that Mike McDonald expects. And not that
- 5:25Speaker 1: it's not great. It's top 10 in the league. So
- 5:27Speaker 1: let's not act like this is this is some crazy statistic,
- 5:30Speaker 1: like they're giving up a ton of rush yards. But
- 5:32Speaker 1: there's a standard that they have and a standard that
- 5:34Speaker 1: they set each and every week. And I think that's
- 5:36Speaker 1: what they're going to look to meet this week. It's
- 5:38Speaker 1: not about the Washington Commanders in this game. For the
- 5:41Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks, it's about them. And the reason they've had
- 5:43Speaker 1: such a great road record since Mike McDonald has got
- 5:46Speaker 1: there is because he does not take games for granted.
- 5:50Speaker 1: He's not taking this one.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Well, Polly Market gives the Seattle Seahawks a 74% chance
- 5:55Speaker 2: of winning this game. Richard, I'm guessing we already know
- 5:59Speaker 2: what direction you're going, but what do you see the
- 6:01Speaker 2: final score being on Sunday for the Seattle Seahawks against
- 6:05Speaker 2: the Commanders?
- 6:09Speaker 1: I want to keep it simple and just say a
- 6:10Speaker 1: lot to a little because I think that's what it's
- 6:13Speaker 1: going to end up being. But if I have to
- 6:15Speaker 1: put specific numbers on it, I think they're going to
- 6:17Speaker 1: try to score over 30 points. I think they're going
- 6:19Speaker 1: to try to hold Washington under 10. I think that
- 6:22Speaker 1: would be the goal heading into the game. But these
- 6:24Speaker 1: are NFL teams, NFL players. Anything can happen. I think
- 6:28Speaker 1: that would be the goal. Anything above 10, maybe 14 points,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I would expect this defense to be incredibly competitive. disappointed
- 6:36Speaker 1: in themselves.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I agree with you. I'm right there with you. I
- 6:38Speaker 2: think Seahawks win in a blowout fashion. Give me 28
- 6:42Speaker 2: plus to seven. Let's move to stay in the NFC West,
- 6:47Speaker 2: but another one of your favorite teams, Richard, the San
- 6:50Speaker 2: Francisco 49ers and their faithful take on the Arizona Cardinals.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Arizona got off to a hot start 1-0 in week
- 6:58Speaker 2: one and ultimately fell victim to this red-hot Seattle Seahawks
- 7:02Speaker 2: team last week. Now it's the 49ers' turn to take
- 7:06Speaker 2: on the division foe. Who do you like in this matchup?
- 7:09Speaker 2: Do you think Jacoby Brissett can bounce back and get
- 7:13Speaker 2: Arizona close to a win against the Niners here? I
- 7:16Speaker 2: already know which direction you're going, inevitably. But what do
- 7:19Speaker 2: you think unfolds on Sunday for the Niners against the Cardinals?
- 7:26Speaker 1: Well, I think the Cardinals, you know, they battled early
- 7:30Speaker 1: on in that game against the Seattle Seahawks, but this
- 7:32Speaker 1: is a tough schedule for them. and I think they're
- 7:35Speaker 1: showing some promise. They're showing some growth, and I think
- 7:40Speaker 1: that's exciting for Mike LaFleur. Again, these are teams that
- 7:44Speaker 1: he's going to have to figure out a way to beat.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I think the Seahawks have beaten the Arizona Cardinals 10
- 7:49Speaker 1: times in a row or something like that. It might
- 7:52Speaker 1: be 12 of 13, and so eventually they're going to
- 7:56Speaker 1: have to get over that hurdle, and the San Francisco
- 7:59Speaker 1: 49ers aren't going to do him any favors. San Francisco
- 8:01Speaker 1: 49ers offense is going to be aggressive, push the ball
- 8:03Speaker 1: down the field. I'm sure they saw the same weaknesses
- 8:06Speaker 1: and concerns that the Seattle Seahawks were able to exploit.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And then on the other side, Jacoby Brissett can be
- 8:16Speaker 1: a really solid quarterback at times, but again, has his limitations.
- 8:20Speaker 1: And I think that the way Raheem Morris has been
- 8:23Speaker 1: calling this defense, he's done a great job. I think
- 8:26Speaker 1: Arizona has shown the propensity to run the football and
- 8:29Speaker 1: want to run the football. And with Fred Warner and
- 8:32Speaker 1: Dre Greenlaw, they're going to take pride in getting that
- 8:34Speaker 1: stop and getting that quelled. Marquis Siegel and Jair Brown
- 8:40Speaker 1: have been really physical this season, Mitchell. They have been
- 8:43Speaker 1: really physical safeties and really imposing their will and making
- 8:46Speaker 1: a point. And I want to see Grayson Holton. I
- 8:49Speaker 1: want to see how he continues to grow and how
- 8:51Speaker 1: he continues to blossom with his opportunity. Had a really
- 8:54Speaker 1: great game last week versus the Miami Dolphins, and I
- 8:57Speaker 1: expect that to continue. Nicholas John Bosa has gotten close
- 9:01Speaker 1: so many times. Could have easily had three or four
- 9:05Speaker 1: sacks on the season. But they've gotten away from it.
- 9:08Speaker 1: And I know he's frustrated and I know he wants
- 9:09Speaker 1: to finish the job as a defense. I think they
- 9:12Speaker 1: had four sacks last week for everyone or got one
- 9:14Speaker 1: Romello height, got one where he pushed the quarterback out
- 9:17Speaker 1: of bounds. Hey, it counts all the same. Um, but
- 9:20Speaker 1: I know he would want to get one in this game.
- 9:22Speaker 1: He want to, he, he wants to, uh, Jacoby Brissett
- 9:25Speaker 1: isn't a big scrambler. He's not going to be going anywhere.
- 9:28Speaker 1: He's going to be where he expects him to be. Um,
- 9:31Speaker 1: And they're going to want to get some turnovers. They're
- 9:33Speaker 1: going to want to create some turnovers. And that's what
- 9:35Speaker 1: I expect offensively. This offensive line for the San Francisco
- 9:39Speaker 1: 49ers has been fantastic. They deserve a ton of credit.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Coming into this season, I did not expect, have high
- 9:45Speaker 1: expectations for the interior of the offensive line. There were
- 9:49Speaker 1: a lot of question marks. Like, hey, what are they
- 9:51Speaker 1: going to do with that left guard position? Connor Colby
- 9:54Speaker 1: has started this season fantastic. He played great against the
- 9:56Speaker 1: Miami Dolphins. They, as a unit, have been one of
- 9:59Speaker 1: the best in the National League. Football League the first
- 10:01Speaker 1: two weeks of the season. And I know this week
- 10:03Speaker 1: it was the Miami Dolphins. Well, like, hooray, we got it.
- 10:07Speaker 1: But last week it was the LA Rams. And the
- 10:11Speaker 1: LA Rams have a lot of people that can rush
- 10:13Speaker 1: the passer. We saw it last night when they played
- 10:15Speaker 1: the giants, you saw Byron young, you saw a brand,
- 10:18Speaker 1: Brandon Fisk. You saw, you saw all these guys that, uh, Colby,
- 10:23Speaker 1: Colby Turner, guys that have really are really big time
- 10:27Speaker 1: impact players who didn't play well against the San Francisco 49ers.
- 10:31Speaker 1: And I think that offensive line had a lot to
- 10:32Speaker 1: do with it. Schematically. They're doing a great job. Um,
- 10:37Speaker 1: Kalon Black, we had him on the show, friend of
- 10:39Speaker 1: the program. I think he's going to have a bigger game. CMC,
- 10:42Speaker 1: depending on how many carries they want to give him
- 10:44Speaker 1: in this game. And again, your MVP candidate, Brock Purdy,
- 10:48Speaker 1: I expect him to have an incredibly efficient day, push
- 10:52Speaker 1: the ball down the field. I think they're going to
- 10:55Speaker 1: get Mike Evans and George Kittle more involved. Obviously, they're
- 10:58Speaker 1: banged up at receiver. They got some guys coming off
- 11:01Speaker 1: practice squad, and they're picking guys up off the street
- 11:03Speaker 1: because they have to. But you've got to eventually– Mike
- 11:07Speaker 1: Evans eventually has to have a 10-target game, and why
- 11:09Speaker 1: not now? I think George Kittle needs an 8-10 target game.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Why not now?
- 11:15Speaker 2: I'm with you. We talked about it last podcast. I
- 11:18Speaker 2: absolutely love what John Lynch did this offseason. The addition
- 11:21Speaker 2: of Mike Evans totally opens up this offense. It all
- 11:24Speaker 2: hinges on the health of CMC at the end of
- 11:26Speaker 2: the day. If this guy can stay healthy and productive,
- 11:29Speaker 2: much like he was last year, look out for the
- 11:32Speaker 2: San Francisco 49ers. I look at this game to be
- 11:35Speaker 2: an absolute blowout as well. I just think the Niners
- 11:39Speaker 2: are clicking on different cylinders. I know the Cardinals got
- 11:42Speaker 2: a week one win, but they're probably coming back to
- 11:45Speaker 2: earth here against Seattle and now San Francisco. But Richard,
- 11:48Speaker 2: before we leave this game, I know you're high on
- 11:50Speaker 2: Brock Purdy. You've already talked about him much. You said
- 11:52Speaker 2: that he might end up in this MVP conversation two
- 11:56Speaker 2: weeks into the season. Who's your top three for the
- 11:59Speaker 2: MVP race?
- 12:02Speaker 1: I think it's Josh Allen. Brock Purdy, and probably Kenneth Walker.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker has had a tremendous impact for the Kansas
- 12:11Speaker 1: City Chiefs. I think he leads the league in all-purpose yards.
- 12:14Speaker 1: He's doing it on the ground, through the air, and
- 12:17Speaker 1: he's doing it at times they need to have it.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Against the Indianapolis Colts, I do not think they win
- 12:22Speaker 1: that game if they have a different running back. I don't.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Even with Patrick Mahomes throwing for 300-plus yards, I think
- 12:29Speaker 1: they struggle to win that game if they're not able
- 12:31Speaker 1: to depend on their back to make plays at the
- 12:34Speaker 1: end of the game, and he did, made explosive plays.
- 12:36Speaker 1: So I think he's the MVP. Obviously, nobody would pick
- 12:40Speaker 1: him over Patrick Mahomes, but this is just week two, people.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Don't overreact. I don't need all these people coming. How
- 12:46Speaker 1: are you going to give it to him over Patrick Mahomes?
- 12:48Speaker 1: Settle down. Running backs haven't won an MVP in a
- 12:51Speaker 1: long time. Patrick Mahomes has much.
- 12:53Speaker 2: And they deserve it. And he just was a Super
- 12:55Speaker 2: Bowl MVP. And better yet, he's a Michigan State guy, Richard.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I co-endorse you on that selection right there. All right,
- 13:03Speaker 2: give me a final score of this game, Richard. How
- 13:06Speaker 2: close is it really going to be?
- 13:07Speaker 1: Well, it looks like Polly Market has the 49ers at 79%.
- 13:10Speaker 1: And I agree with him. Again, this is a lot
- 13:15Speaker 1: to a little. I know that Kyle Shanahan is going
- 13:17Speaker 1: to look to put up points. I think he did.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Our good friend Jeff Halfley, a favor last week, and
- 13:23Speaker 1: took the foot off the gas late in that game
- 13:25Speaker 1: so that, you know, you got 35. That's enough. And, again,
- 13:30Speaker 1: Mike LaFleur is another friend of the program. There's so
- 13:32Speaker 1: many Kyle Shanahan tree guys that have come from his tree,
- 13:36Speaker 1: a guy that was his offensive coordinator. So I'm sure
- 13:39Speaker 1: there's a lot of mutual respect there, but not enough
- 13:41Speaker 1: respect for him not to put up 30, Mitchell. And
- 13:43Speaker 1: so I expect him to put up 30 points. I
- 13:46Speaker 1: expect him to hold Arizona to 17.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Okay, let's move on to the next game. The Cincinnati
- 13:53Speaker 2: Bengals head to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cincinnati, 2-0. I kind
- 13:59Speaker 2: of called this, Richard. I'm going to keep going back
- 14:02Speaker 2: to it and still they start losing. They're in your
- 14:04Speaker 2: power ranks this week. I got a simple question to
- 14:07Speaker 2: ask before we get into this game. Two weeks into
- 14:10Speaker 2: the season, is there a team that has surprised you
- 14:12Speaker 2: more by their success than the Cincinnati Bengals?
- 14:20Speaker 1: Yes, yes, the Raiders. But I'm very impressed with the
- 14:23Speaker 1: Cincinnati Bengals team, but I'm most impressed with their front.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Jonathan Allen, a tone setter. Dexter Lawrence, tone setter. These
- 14:30Speaker 1: guys imposed their will on the Houston Texans offensive line
- 14:34Speaker 1: last week, and it was most apparent on a fourth
- 14:37Speaker 1: and one when they turned around, C.J. Stroud turned around,
- 14:41Speaker 1: handed the ball off, and before the running back even
- 14:45Speaker 1: got going, Dexter Lawrence was in the backfield, walked through
- 14:49Speaker 1: the offensive line, walked through it like he was invited
- 14:51Speaker 1: back there, and made a TFL. This defense doesn't look
- 14:57Speaker 1: surprised by the results. Their offense has talked about it
- 15:01Speaker 1: all training camp. This is going to be a top
- 15:02Speaker 1: five defense. This is going to be a top five defense,
- 15:04Speaker 1: and they're showing why their offense had so much confidence
- 15:08Speaker 1: in them. This game wasn't won because of Joe Burrow. Now,
- 15:13Speaker 1: did Jamar Chase do some incredible things? No question. Does
- 15:16Speaker 1: him and Uh, Joe Burrell have a, have a great connection,
- 15:20Speaker 1: no question. And that's going to be the reason they
- 15:22Speaker 1: can go as far as they go. But this defense
- 15:25Speaker 1: is showing that, Hey, when you guys don't have it going,
- 15:27Speaker 1: when you guys aren't perfect, when you guys aren't scoring 35,
- 15:30Speaker 1: 40 points, we can hold it down. They held the
- 15:33Speaker 1: Houston Texans to six points after they had just scored
- 15:36Speaker 1: 31 against the Buffalo bills. You got to give them
- 15:38Speaker 1: a ton of credit for that. Um, Their pass defense
- 15:42Speaker 1: is a bit of a concern. Obviously, they do a
- 15:45Speaker 1: great job. They're rushing the passer in a great way.
- 15:47Speaker 1: They have eight sacks on a year. They're third in
- 15:49Speaker 1: rush defense. They're getting takeaways. They got four takeaways already
- 15:52Speaker 1: on a season. But they're giving up 284 passing yards
- 15:55Speaker 1: a game. And not that Aaron Rodgers, at this young
- 15:58Speaker 1: old age of 42, is going to throw for a
- 16:01Speaker 1: ton of yards. He's very beat up, both mentally and physically,
- 16:05Speaker 1: it looked like. He had a hard time last week.
- 16:08Speaker 1: But The Bengals aren't giving up a lot of points.
- 16:13Speaker 1: And they haven't intercepted the ball at all. And so
- 16:17Speaker 1: that's something that they can improve. But they're playing great defense.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I think right now, Polly Market has the Bengals at 64%. Mitchell,
- 16:28Speaker 1: what you think?
- 16:31Speaker 2: I'm taking the Bengals. I know this game, you know,
- 16:36Speaker 2: in Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh had a bad game last week. Tells
- 16:40Speaker 2: me they might bounce back, but I don't think since
- 16:42Speaker 2: he's a team they're going to bounce back against. This
- 16:45Speaker 2: team's hot right now. Like you just said, their defense
- 16:47Speaker 2: is playing well. I expect their offense to have an
- 16:50Speaker 2: uptick next week. I got the Bengals putting 27 points
- 16:54Speaker 2: on the board, 27-17 against the Steelers, and a double-digit win,
- 16:58Speaker 2: and continuing to climb up your power ranks, Richard. I
- 17:03Speaker 2: like the Cincinnati Bengals team a lot. Where do you
- 17:06Speaker 2: lie with this?
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I really like the Cincinnati Bengals. Now, I think
- 17:09Speaker 1: the Pittsburgh Steelers' defense is better than people give them credit. Obviously, T.J.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Watt is going to factor in into this game. Joey Porter,
- 17:18Speaker 1: they're going to make plays. They're going to make plays.
- 17:20Speaker 1: I think Pittsburgh's defense has been a bit overshadowed because
- 17:25Speaker 1: the offense hasn't been great. Now, they're still a one-on-one team.
- 17:28Speaker 1: They're still a one-on-one team, but they're top three in
- 17:30Speaker 1: pass defense, and that matters. That matters when you're going
- 17:34Speaker 1: against Joe Burrow, and Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins and
- 17:37Speaker 1: this high-flying offense, you got to have some guys that
- 17:40Speaker 1: can cover, and they do. And they got some guys
- 17:41Speaker 1: that can rush the passer. Cam Hayward is still going.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Cam Hayward is still playing at a high level. He
- 17:47Speaker 1: came in with me, Metro, and I've been doing TV
- 17:49Speaker 1: for five years, so that tells you what you need
- 17:51Speaker 1: to know. But it's going to be a fun game
- 17:56Speaker 1: to watch. It's just that Pittsburgh offense, what happened to
- 17:59Speaker 1: DK Metcalf, I expected more from him. Pittman. Pittman, we
- 18:05Speaker 1: thought that'd be a big addition to this team, and
- 18:07Speaker 1: a big-time playmaker hasn't really, really manifested itself that way.
- 18:12Speaker 1: So maybe this is the game that changes. It needs to.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I mean, Michael Pittman was out last week. He's questionable
- 18:17Speaker 2: coming into this week, but no question about it. I mean,
- 18:20Speaker 2: week one was nothing special. The Steelers need more flash
- 18:24Speaker 2: and flair offensively. I don't know if that's going to
- 18:27Speaker 2: happen with Aaron Rodgers under center at 42 years old.
- 18:31Speaker 2: but someone needs to inject some life into them offensively
- 18:34Speaker 2: because I would imagine, Richard, it's got to be incredibly
- 18:37Speaker 2: frustrating being a guy like Cam Hayward, being a guy
- 18:40Speaker 2: like TJ Watt. I mean, when you're giving it all
- 18:44Speaker 2: on your side of the field, this Steelers offense just
- 18:47Speaker 2: doesn't look to me like it has enough high-octane power
- 18:50Speaker 2: to be able to achieve what the Steelers are used to,
- 18:53Speaker 2: and that's the playoffs. That's beyond that. So we shall see.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I got bangles. You got bangles. Richard, this next game
- 19:01Speaker 2: is near and dear to my heart.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yes, very near and dear to your heart, Mitchell. And
- 19:04Speaker 1: it's also our sponsored segment, sponsored by Polymarket. We got
- 19:07Speaker 1: the Jets versus the Lions, and both teams are coming
- 19:10Speaker 1: off tough losses. I'm not saying I thought Detroit was
- 19:14Speaker 1: going to win that game because it was a battle,
- 19:16Speaker 1: but I thought they'd play better defensively. They got some
- 19:18Speaker 1: things to answer. But I thought the Jets had that
- 19:20Speaker 1: game versus the Packers. Detroit's back at home. Polymarket has
- 19:23Speaker 1: Detroit with a 74% chance to win overall. while the
- 19:27Speaker 1: Jets are at 27%. Mitch, I know you agree with that.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I do.
- 19:31Speaker 2: I expect the Lions to come in to Ford Field
- 19:34Speaker 2: with a lot to prove on Sunday. Aaron Glenn is
- 19:37Speaker 2: back in town for the Jets, former Detroit Lions DC,
- 19:41Speaker 2: so he's got a lot to prove too. A lot
- 19:43Speaker 2: of motivation in that clubhouse as well. But Richard, I
- 19:46Speaker 2: just think the Detroit Lions have to, have to go
- 19:49Speaker 2: out there and lay the smackdown on the Jets and
- 19:52Speaker 2: I expect that I expect Aiden Hutchinson to come out
- 19:54Speaker 2: and be a leader this on this defense the Lions
- 19:58Speaker 2: defense has been absolutely abysmal the last game and a
- 20:01Speaker 2: half something has got to change and it's got to
- 20:04Speaker 2: change against the Jets because listen I know it's Geno
- 20:07Speaker 2: Smith now under center for the Jets but This Jets
- 20:10Speaker 2: offense just doesn't have the high power that Detroit Lions
- 20:15Speaker 2: opponents have shown this early on in the season, playing
- 20:18Speaker 2: the Saints and the Bills. So if the Lions let
- 20:21Speaker 2: Geno Smith and the Jets go up and down the field,
- 20:24Speaker 2: I am going to be scratching my head and wondering
- 20:27Speaker 2: what in the world is going to happen this season. Richard,
- 20:31Speaker 2: I like the Lions a lot and I like them
- 20:33Speaker 2: to win. We'll see. It's a six and a half
- 20:36Speaker 2: point spread. You like them to cover. That six and
- 20:39Speaker 2: a half point spread is my question for you, my friend.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I'm not sure, Mitchell, because this New York Jets deep.
- 20:47Speaker 1: What's wrong, Mitchell? I can't be honest. I mean, I
- 20:50Speaker 1: can't be honest. You want the truth. You can't handle
- 20:53Speaker 1: the truth because this Jets defense is better than advertised.
- 20:57Speaker 1: It's a reason these teams have been struggling with them.
- 21:00Speaker 1: It's a reason that Jordan Love and the Green Bay
- 21:03Speaker 1: Packers struggled with them. They have some good pass rushers,
- 21:06Speaker 1: Will McDonald, Tavondre Sweat, Kingsley Inegbare. And then they got
- 21:12Speaker 1: the rookie, David Bailey. They got some guys that can
- 21:14Speaker 1: get after the passer, but they play solid, really solid defense.
- 21:18Speaker 1: And Aaron Glenn is going to have them guys, those
- 21:20Speaker 1: guys really hyped up for this one. There may be
- 21:23Speaker 1: some fans in Detroit looking longingly at Aaron Glenn. remembering
- 21:32Speaker 1: days where they actually played defense. Right now, Mitchell, you
- 21:35Speaker 1: call it e-fence because they're not bringing any D into
- 21:38Speaker 1: the D. Like, how you not going to bring defense
- 21:41Speaker 1: into the D? How do you, you can't spell bad.
- 21:47Speaker 1: It's bad ball. Mitchell, you got to score. They're going
- 21:49Speaker 1: to have to score. And you understand that. I understand that.
- 21:53Speaker 1: They're going to, Detroit's going to have to score points
- 21:55Speaker 1: in this game. Now, Again, Jared Goff, the most underrated
- 21:58Speaker 1: quarterback in the National Football League. In my opinion, he's
- 22:01Speaker 1: never higher than seven or eight in my rankings in
- 22:04Speaker 1: terms of quarterback play. I think he's always up there.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Can Jamison Williams finally start to get back to his
- 22:12Speaker 1: old form? Jameer Gibbs, have a day? I don't know.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Because if Brees Hall can find some traction, if our
- 22:21Speaker 1: guy Geno, friend of the program, You can find some traction.
- 22:24Speaker 1: This game is going to be a lot more interesting
- 22:26Speaker 1: than I think Polymarket thinks it's going to be. Polymarket
- 22:30Speaker 1: has them at 74%. I think it's more like 55%. Oh, boy.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Richard, you're breaking my heart right now. If the Lions
- 22:40Speaker 2: start the season off 1-2, I might just have to convert, man.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I might have to convert. I'm going to have to
- 22:46Speaker 2: put some Seahawks hats back here, some Niners hats back here. Hell,
- 22:50Speaker 2: I'll even throw a Cincinnati Bengals hat back there, man.
- 22:53Speaker 2: The Lions need to win. They must win. And what
- 22:55Speaker 2: concerns me most about what you just said, your analysis there,
- 22:59Speaker 2: Polly Market gives the Jets a 38% chance to get
- 23:04Speaker 2: 24 points or more. I mean, that's not a crazy,
- 23:10Speaker 2: you know, 38%. The Lions cannot give up 24 points
- 23:15Speaker 2: to Geno Smith and the New York Jets, Richard.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Mitchell. I know you like numbers, and you know I
- 23:21Speaker 1: love numbers. The Jets have the number one total defense,
- 23:24Speaker 1: number two passing defense, number two run defense. I'm just saying, Mitchell,
- 23:29Speaker 1: it's only two weeks into the season. It's only two weeks.
- 23:31Speaker 1: So it's not a huge sample size. I'm not saying
- 23:33Speaker 1: this is going to be one of the best defenses
- 23:35Speaker 1: in the league. But right now, they're one of the
- 23:38Speaker 1: best defenses in the league.
- 23:40Speaker 2: When we get through three games this year, Richard, I'm
- 23:42Speaker 2: calling it. I'm calling it right now. The Detroit Lions
- 23:45Speaker 2: are going to put 37 on the board. It's going
- 23:47Speaker 2: to be 37-13. The Lions win in dominant fashion. Bring
- 23:53Speaker 2: back the fan base a little bit. Calm us down
- 23:56Speaker 2: a bit.
- 23:57Speaker 1: There we have it. Well, only because they're friends of
- 24:02Speaker 1: the program and we love that Honolulu blue, I'm going
- 24:06Speaker 1: to give them a win, Mitchell. But it's going to
- 24:08Speaker 1: be by the skin of their chinny-chin-chins. And I got
- 24:11Speaker 1: the Detroit Lions winning this game. 24 to 21. Even
- 24:20Speaker 1: though the Jets have only allowed three touchdowns on the season,
- 24:23Speaker 1: I'm giving you three in the game. I appreciate that.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I appreciate that. Well, Richard, at minimum, I got to
- 24:29Speaker 2: believe the Lions are going to get off to a
- 24:31Speaker 2: fast start in this game.
- 24:32Speaker 1: And you know what?
- 24:33Speaker 2: If they do and then the Jets come back, I'll
- 24:35Speaker 2: just trade off my pick.
- 24:37Speaker 1: No question about it, Mitchell. That's the best thing about polymarketing.
- 24:41Speaker 1: It's an alternative option. to traditional sports books. You can
- 24:45Speaker 1: get in and out of your trades at any time.
- 24:48Speaker 1: That's the best part. You get to keep control. Taking
- 24:52Speaker 1: a quick break to tell you about this new prediction
- 24:54Speaker 1: market called Polymarket. It's the best new way to trade
- 24:59Speaker 1: in sports.
- 25:00Speaker 2: In the past, if you wanted action on the game,
- 25:02Speaker 2: you'd put some money in and if your team was
- 25:04Speaker 2: doing well and you wanted to cash out, they'd lock
- 25:07Speaker 2: the trade or take a huge fee.
- 25:10Speaker 1: But Polymarket is a prediction market It's a stock exchange
- 25:14Speaker 1: for sports, buying in and selling out on your terms.
- 25:18Speaker 2: When your team goes down to 20%, you can buy
- 25:21Speaker 2: in and sell it off at 40% when they come
- 25:24Speaker 2: back to double your money.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I've tried them all, and Polymarket is simply the best
- 25:29Speaker 1: prediction market. Better than DraftKings, FanDuel, Kalshi, you name it.
- 25:35Speaker 2: They're so confident you'll never go back to the other guys.
- 25:38Speaker 2: They're giving you a free $ 50 on your first trade
- 25:41Speaker 2: when you deposit just $ 10.
- 25:43Speaker 1: So download the Polymarket app today and use the code Sherman.
- 25:47Speaker 1: That's S-H-E-R-M-A-N. When you sign up, that code gets you
- 25:53Speaker 1: $ 50 free after you trade just $ 10.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Game you'll be at in Green Bay, in Lambeau. You know,
- 25:59Speaker 2: who is not going to be watching the Green Bay
- 26:02Speaker 2: Packers take on The Atlanta Falcons. Richard, the Atlanta Falcons
- 26:08Speaker 2: are off to a raging start, an 0-2 start in fact,
- 26:12Speaker 2: but Michael Penix is here to save the day. Oh boy,
- 26:17Speaker 2: let's start with the Atlanta Falcons. Is this rock bottom
- 26:21Speaker 2: for this franchise right now, starting 0-2 and just getting
- 26:24Speaker 2: absolutely dummied by division rival Carolina last week?
- 26:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Mitchell, I talked to one of my boys who's
- 26:32Speaker 1: an Atlanta Falcons fan, and he's scraping the Falcon off
- 26:37Speaker 1: of his license plate this week if they lose to
- 26:39Speaker 1: Green Bay. Mitchell, that's where they are right now. The
- 26:42Speaker 1: city of Atlanta is ready to scrape the Falcon off
- 26:45Speaker 1: of their license plates week three into the season. So
- 26:50Speaker 1: that tells you all you need to know about the
- 26:51Speaker 1: Atlanta Falcons. But the Green Bay Packers have a lot
- 26:54Speaker 1: of promise. They have a lot of promise. Julian, I mean,
- 26:57Speaker 1: the Green Bay Packers have a lot of promise. Jordan Love.
- 27:00Speaker 1: is playing solid football, not his best football, not his
- 27:02Speaker 1: worst football. Jonathan Gannon is starting to find his rhythm
- 27:06Speaker 1: with this defense and all these playmakers. Eventually, they're going
- 27:10Speaker 1: to get Micah Parsons back. That'll take them to another
- 27:12Speaker 1: level defensively. But until then, Lucas Van Ness has been
- 27:17Speaker 1: playing really fantastic football. He deserves a ton of credit.
- 27:20Speaker 1: And when Micah comes back, that's just going to elevate
- 27:22Speaker 1: him even further offensively. Christian Watson has had a great
- 27:27Speaker 1: start to the season. Uh, I think that's going to continue.
- 27:30Speaker 1: I think they need to feed him even more. I
- 27:32Speaker 1: think he needs more opportunities, more chances. Uh, they need
- 27:34Speaker 1: to get the run game going. Obviously without Josh Jacobs,
- 27:37Speaker 1: it's a different game. It's a different ball game. They're
- 27:39Speaker 1: doing it by committee. They're trying to find a guy
- 27:41Speaker 1: to get it done. If he gets to get it,
- 27:43Speaker 1: gets a chance to return to the lineup this season,
- 27:46Speaker 1: that'll be another tremendous boost and put them right where
- 27:49Speaker 1: they need to be. But I think this is a
- 27:52Speaker 1: really big game for both teams. Um, For Atlanta, they're
- 27:56Speaker 1: heading in two different directions. If Atlanta loses this game,
- 27:59Speaker 1: Kevin Stefanski, he's going to have a lot of very
- 28:02Speaker 1: tough questions to answer. We saw Drake London arguing with
- 28:05Speaker 1: fans last week. Kyle Pitts, Bajon Robinson. Like, what do
- 28:10Speaker 1: you do? You have weapons. You have all these things.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Do you fire sale and say, hey, this isn't our team.
- 28:16Speaker 1: We're going to reset. Or do you say, hey, we're
- 28:19Speaker 1: going to keep fighting with Michael Penix and Tua Tunga-Vailoa.
- 28:23Speaker 1: That's a decision you're going to have to make. what's
- 28:26Speaker 1: going to happen with James Pierce, one of their best
- 28:28Speaker 1: defensive players. I like their secondary. I like their young group.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I think they're starting to get something on defense if
- 28:35Speaker 1: they can get all of their pieces out there. I
- 28:37Speaker 1: think AJ Terrell may be out of this game. So
- 28:42Speaker 1: if they can get all their pieces out there and
- 28:44Speaker 1: healthy at the same time, it's a fun group to
- 28:48Speaker 1: watch defensively. Offensively, it looks like it should work. It
- 28:51Speaker 1: just hasn't. And A lot of that has to do
- 28:53Speaker 1: with the quarterback play. You keep trotting Cooper Rush out there.
- 28:57Speaker 1: I can't expect it to go well. So hopefully Pennix
- 29:01Speaker 1: injects some life and some energy into this team. But
- 29:05Speaker 1: right now, Polly Market is not feeling it. They got
- 29:08Speaker 1: the Green Bay Packers at 72%, and I think that's
- 29:11Speaker 1: about right. I have the Green Bay Packers winning this game,
- 29:14Speaker 1: getting back on track offensively. Matt LaFleur starting to really–
- 29:20Speaker 1: really allow Jordan Love to push the ball down the
- 29:23Speaker 1: field and show how talented this offense can be.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Yeah, one other point of emphasis for the Green Bay Packers,
- 29:31Speaker 2: they got to get a run game established because Marshawn
- 29:34Speaker 2: Lloyd you know, was thrusted into the starting role after
- 29:37Speaker 2: Josh Jacobs suspension. And we haven't seen a ton of
- 29:40Speaker 2: consistency there. Look for the Green Bay Packers to establish
- 29:44Speaker 2: a run game in this game against the Falcons. That's
- 29:48Speaker 2: my area of concern for this Packers team going forward
- 29:51Speaker 2: is can they run the football? We'll take a look
- 29:53Speaker 2: at that on Thursday night. Make sure to join Richard
- 29:56Speaker 2: Sherman and co. on amazon prime thursday night football richard
- 30:00Speaker 2: let's take a look and talk about the carolina panthers
- 30:03Speaker 2: who are going to be facing the cleveland browns you
- 30:06Speaker 2: know both of these teams one and one uh cleveland
- 30:09Speaker 2: good for them deshaun watson we talked about it looked
- 30:12Speaker 2: like the deshaun watson of old and then on the
- 30:15Speaker 2: other side bryce love uh i'm sorry i always do
- 30:19Speaker 2: that bryce young has really started to establish himself as
- 30:23Speaker 2: a bona fide starter in this league and has started
- 30:26Speaker 2: to remove some of those question marks as to why
- 30:28Speaker 2: he was the number one pick in the draft a
- 30:30Speaker 2: couple years ago. Richard, this Carolina offense has been high-flying.
- 30:35Speaker 2: They've put up 30-plus points in back-to-back games. Do you
- 30:38Speaker 2: think they can keep that momentum rolling into Cleveland and
- 30:42Speaker 2: their face off against the Browns?
- 30:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think they can. They started it with Chicago. Obviously,
- 30:50Speaker 1: they lost that game, but they scored 37 points, and
- 30:53Speaker 1: then they have 34 this week. They're second in the
- 30:55Speaker 1: league in scoring and passing offense, second in touchdowns. They're
- 31:01Speaker 1: scoring points, and Bryce Young looks fantastic. People were on
- 31:06Speaker 1: the borderline of calling him a bust. There were people
- 31:09Speaker 1: that were whispering things, and I think Dave Canales has
- 31:14Speaker 1: finally kind of unlocked him and allowed him to get
- 31:18Speaker 1: the ball down the field. They have these big-time playmakers,
- 31:21Speaker 1: Tedderall McMillan, Jalen Coker, Xavier Leggett, and they're finally starting
- 31:26Speaker 1: to get them space and get them the ball in
- 31:29Speaker 1: space and set them up with opportunities. You know, you
- 31:32Speaker 1: don't have to push the ball down the field every play.
- 31:34Speaker 1: You have to eventually get there, and they're starting to
- 31:36Speaker 1: find a rhythm and find a way to do that.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Chubba Hubbard, when you start to push the ball down
- 31:42Speaker 1: the field, it opens up things in that run game.
- 31:44Speaker 1: So I think The Carolina Panthers have started to find
- 31:46Speaker 1: that rhythm and that confidence. And once you get confidence
- 31:49Speaker 1: in this league, you're going to be a tough outfit
- 31:51Speaker 1: to deal with. And then defensively, they had a horrid
- 31:54Speaker 1: showing to start the season. Absolutely terrible showing. You know,
- 32:00Speaker 1: 59 points. But then you turn around and say, hey,
- 32:03Speaker 1: enough's enough. Hold the Atlanta Falcons to three points. So
- 32:06Speaker 1: this team is on the rise. And then the Browns.
- 32:09Speaker 1: The Browns. Same old Browns. Same old Browns. I guess not.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Todd Munkin didn't like that. He didn't like that. He
- 32:16Speaker 1: didn't like when Mike Tomlin said that. And his team responded.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson, I think, is second in the league in
- 32:22Speaker 1: accuracy or in completion percentage. He had a really good game.
- 32:25Speaker 1: This was probably his best game in the last two,
- 32:29Speaker 1: two and a half years. And hopefully he can build
- 32:32Speaker 1: on that and get confidence. You know, you're overcoming the fans.
- 32:35Speaker 1: You're overcoming the issues. You know, the way people are
- 32:39Speaker 1: talking about you with social media. People are chirping. every
- 32:43Speaker 1: which way, and so much negative energy aimed towards him,
- 32:46Speaker 1: for him to respond this way is really cool. They
- 32:49Speaker 1: got some young playmakers. Fanning, I think, is going to
- 32:53Speaker 1: be a big-time guy in this league. And if Deshaun Watson,
- 32:55Speaker 1: if they can just catch his passes, if they can
- 32:57Speaker 1: catch his passes, if he can play like he did
- 33:00Speaker 1: last week, there's a chance. There's a chance. They got
- 33:05Speaker 1: enough guys on defense to give them a chance. They
- 33:08Speaker 1: got some pass rushers. Maybe, maybe the Browns can pull
- 33:15Speaker 1: it off if the Browns go to them, but I
- 33:16Speaker 1: don't know. Dave Canales in Carolina. I got the Carolina
- 33:19Speaker 1: Panthers winning this game 24-28, or 28-24.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Okay, and Polly Market likes them too. They give the
- 33:25Speaker 2: Panthers a 59% likelihood of winning this game. We shall see.
- 33:30Speaker 2: I like the Panthers as well. Next game, you called
- 33:33Speaker 2: them your most surprising team to start this season. The
- 33:37Speaker 2: Las Vegas Raiders, 2-0. against the New Orleans Saints that were, again,
- 33:42Speaker 2: one play away in overtime against the Lions for being 2-0.
- 33:47Speaker 2: They're fresh off a win against the Baltimore Ravens. Both
- 33:50Speaker 2: of these teams are surprising. We talked about it the
- 33:53Speaker 2: last couple podcasts. Tyler Shuck has got to give the
- 33:57Speaker 2: New Orleans Saints fan base a lot of reason to
- 34:00Speaker 2: believe in this team going forward in the division and beyond.
- 34:03Speaker 2: And The Las Vegas Raiders, I mean, again, another surprising team.
- 34:08Speaker 2: But you bring in the veteran presence of Kirk Cousins,
- 34:11Speaker 2: and you bring back Max Crosby, and you bring a
- 34:14Speaker 2: stabilizing force and an offensive mind in Clint Kubiak to
- 34:19Speaker 2: the fold. All of a sudden, we're starting to see
- 34:21Speaker 2: what Ashton Gentry really looks like with a bona fide
- 34:24Speaker 2: offensive line in front of him. They spent big on
- 34:27Speaker 2: the center, Tyler Lindenbaum. You know, we're seeing some uprising,
- 34:31Speaker 2: a young talent on the outside, Cody White. Michigan State Spartan,
- 34:36Speaker 2: two receptions for touchdown last week. Who's going to win
- 34:40Speaker 2: this game, Richard? This one is very tricky to me
- 34:43Speaker 2: because are the Las Vegas Raiders for real? Are the
- 34:47Speaker 2: New Orleans Saints for real? Both of these teams kind
- 34:50Speaker 2: of look it. Who do you like more?
- 34:55Speaker 1: That's a great question. I think the Raiders have been
- 35:00Speaker 1: better defensively. They've been more disruptive, been more aggressive. The
- 35:06Speaker 1: Saints have been great offensively, and Tyler Shaw looks the part,
- 35:09Speaker 1: especially in the second half and the fourth quarters. They've
- 35:11Speaker 1: really had offensive explosions. New Orleans has been more productive offensively.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Better on third down. I mean, the Raiders are really
- 35:29Speaker 1: explosive offensively. I think Clint Kubiak likes that, but it's
- 35:33Speaker 1: bang or bust in this In this offense, I think
- 35:36Speaker 1: the Saints and Kellen Moore have been more consistent, methodical,
- 35:40Speaker 1: just more dependable offensively. Give me the Saints in this game.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Give me the Saints in this game. Give me the
- 35:45Speaker 1: Saints by three. Okay. We'll see.
- 35:48Speaker 2: I mean, Polly Markey gives them a 62% likelihood to
- 35:51Speaker 2: win this game. This will be the first game of
- 35:54Speaker 2: the season for Brock Bowers, more than likely. We'll see
- 35:58Speaker 2: how he responds with Kirk Cousins. This team could only
- 36:01Speaker 2: get better. It's great to see both these teams performing well, though.
- 36:05Speaker 2: And goodness gracious, it's good to see a team, a
- 36:07Speaker 2: couple teams out of the NFC South, actually look like
- 36:10Speaker 2: they realize the NFC regular season has started. Carolina Panthers
- 36:14Speaker 2: and the Saints are starting to show up a little
- 36:17Speaker 2: bit for that division for once in a number of years.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Another game to really keep an eye on. This game,
- 36:23Speaker 2: I think, is probably going to be one of the
- 36:24Speaker 2: better games of the weekend. The Baltimore Ravens facing the
- 36:28Speaker 2: Dallas Cowboys. Both of these teams are 1-1. Obviously, Dallas
- 36:32Speaker 2: bounced back last week with a win over the Commanders,
- 36:35Speaker 2: whereas the Baltimore Ravens, as we just discussed, lost to
- 36:38Speaker 2: the Saints. Who needs this win more for you, Richard?
- 36:44Speaker 1: Both. Both needed more. Neither one of these teams wants
- 36:48Speaker 1: to start the season 1-2. I think the Ravens had
- 36:52Speaker 1: a great showing last week. I thought they did a
- 36:54Speaker 1: good job. I thought the Cowboys did too. C.D. Lamb
- 36:56Speaker 1: said the NFL drug tested him after, as they should.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Check what he own, Mitchell, because you have those kind
- 37:01Speaker 1: of numbers in this league and you dominate like he
- 37:04Speaker 1: did that game. That's what's going to happen. You're going
- 37:06Speaker 1: to get that knock at your door. Hey, here's the cup.
- 37:09Speaker 1: And can they continue that? Dak Prescott and this offense,
- 37:13Speaker 1: can they continue to be explosive? Can this defense figure
- 37:17Speaker 1: it out? Caleb Downs had a better game last week. Um,
- 37:21Speaker 1: the defense as a whole played better. Um, but the Ravens,
- 37:28Speaker 1: they have to find a better way to finish games.
- 37:31Speaker 1: And I think that's the biggest thing for them. Uh,
- 37:33Speaker 1: this season is, is continuing to find that. I think
- 37:36Speaker 1: they've lost 15 games when leading heading into the fourth
- 37:40Speaker 1: quarter since 2021. That's a lot of games. That's the
- 37:43Speaker 1: most international football league. So finishing games is a big
- 37:46Speaker 1: deal for them. Uh, Their defense has to be great.
- 37:51Speaker 1: They have to be great. They have to be great
- 37:53Speaker 1: this game against the Dallas Cowboys. Obviously, Lamar Jackson and
- 37:56Speaker 1: Derrick Henry are going to do their job. They're going
- 37:58Speaker 1: to do what they've always done. But I think, hmm,
- 38:05Speaker 1: I definitely think the news either way. You know, I
- 38:09Speaker 1: think the expectations for Baltimore are higher this season than Dallas.
- 38:13Speaker 1: So I think it would mean more. for them to
- 38:16Speaker 1: lose this game. And if Dallas wins this game, it
- 38:19Speaker 1: kind of washes the taste of that New York loss,
- 38:23Speaker 1: that Giants loss away and starts to give them a
- 38:26Speaker 1: little bit more credibility going forward. But I... Tyler Shaw
- 38:32Speaker 1: and those guys really... Every time I believe in Dallas,
- 38:42Speaker 1: every single time I believe in Dallas, it's like I'm...
- 38:46Speaker 1: It's like I'm jinxing them. Give me Baltimore. Give me Baltimore. 30-26.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Man, I was hoping you were going to take the Cowboys.
- 39:05Speaker 2: I wanted to go against you on that one. I
- 39:07Speaker 2: like the Baltimore Ravens too. I think Lamar Jackson has
- 39:10Speaker 2: got to show up and show out in this game
- 39:11Speaker 2: against Dallas. That being said, who knows if C.D. Lamb
- 39:15Speaker 2: keeps this thing going, the Cowboys defense can be tough
- 39:18Speaker 2: to stop. Javante Williams needs to get more involved, establish
- 39:21Speaker 2: a run game for Dallas to have any hope in
- 39:23Speaker 2: this game. I, too, like Baltimore. As does Polly Market, 61% like.
- 39:30Speaker 2: for the Ravens to win. Another very interesting game on
- 39:34Speaker 2: Sunday night, the L.A. Rams, fresh off a win against
- 39:38Speaker 2: the New York Giants, take on the Denver Broncos, who
- 39:41Speaker 2: looked a lot better in Week 2. This is showing,
- 39:46Speaker 2: this is actually a great game on Sunday Night Football
- 39:49Speaker 2: right here. Polly Market likes the Rams, gives them a 56%
- 39:53Speaker 2: chance to win this game, 56% likelihood for the Rams.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Who do you like, Richard, the Rams or the Broncos?
- 40:01Speaker 1: Well, I like the Rams, especially if Devontae is going
- 40:03Speaker 1: to have the game he had last night. And then
- 40:07Speaker 1: Puka Nakua comes back, Kyron Williams, Blake Corum, you know,
- 40:11Speaker 1: they're just, they have a real great compliment. And again,
- 40:15Speaker 1: the reigning MVP of the league, Matthew Stafford, is starting
- 40:20Speaker 1: to find his legs again, starting to play consistent. Sean
- 40:23Speaker 1: McVay went out there in his press conference and said, hey,
- 40:25Speaker 1: maybe that was on me. Maybe the coach shouldn't make
- 40:28Speaker 1: bad decisions and put the team in a bad spot
- 40:31Speaker 1: because when they have a full week's rest and can
- 40:33Speaker 1: sit there and prepare and not have the biological or
- 40:38Speaker 1: the clock issues or the body clock issues, they're a
- 40:42Speaker 1: great team. Uh, um, Trent McDuffie got an interception last week.
- 40:46Speaker 1: The defense looks great. Aaron Donald, Aaron Donald. I think
- 40:49Speaker 1: he led the league in interior pressure this week, uh,
- 40:53Speaker 1: at 27%. This was just his first game. Yikes. Yikes. Uh,
- 41:01Speaker 1: so if Aaron Donald's coming back playing the way he
- 41:03Speaker 1: did now, this is a really good Denver Broncos offensive line,
- 41:07Speaker 1: but I'm not sure Bo Nix has seen many like this. So, uh,
- 41:13Speaker 1: This secondary, along with that, I got the Rams winning
- 41:16Speaker 1: this game. In a defensive battle of sorts, I'm not
- 41:21Speaker 1: going to say it's going to be 10-9 or anything
- 41:22Speaker 1: like that, but I'd say 17-20. You know what?
- 41:26Speaker 2: This is where you and I differ. I like Denver
- 41:28Speaker 2: in this game. They're at home. They're at mile high.
- 41:31Speaker 2: We saw Jalen Waddell get more involved in this offense
- 41:33Speaker 2: last week.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Bo Nix.
- 41:35Speaker 2: The defense stepped up against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have
- 41:39Speaker 2: been one of the– More potent offenses over the last season.
- 41:45Speaker 1: I like Denver.
- 41:45Speaker 2: I think they're finding their form. Bonex, again, his third
- 41:49Speaker 2: game back from injury. And Jalen Waddell. And keep an
- 41:53Speaker 2: eye out for Jonah Coleman. I already talked about it
- 41:55Speaker 2: on the last podcast. I think he takes over this
- 41:58Speaker 2: RB role for the Denver Broncos and gives them some life.
- 42:01Speaker 2: I got Denver pulling out a win at home, 24-21.
- 42:06Speaker 1: All right, everyone.
- 42:06Speaker 2: You know what time it is. We've got Philadelphia versus
- 42:09Speaker 2: Chicago coming up. And you can catch all the action
- 42:13Speaker 2: on your terms with Sling TV. Get instant access with
- 42:17Speaker 2: day passes starting at just $ 4. 99, three or seven day
- 42:21Speaker 2: passes or monthly plans. No long-term contracts or commitments. Let's
- 42:27Speaker 2: break it down, Richard. The Philadelphia Eagles 2-0 taking on
- 42:32Speaker 2: the Chicago Bears. A lot of stories that come into
- 42:35Speaker 2: play here. The Eagles nearly lose to the Tennessee Titans,
- 42:39Speaker 2: nearly lose to the Washington Commanders, yet prevail in both
- 42:43Speaker 2: games in our 2-0. The Chicago Bears, high-flying offense, put
- 42:48Speaker 2: up 59 points week 1 and then put up a
- 42:51Speaker 2: measly 3 points in week 2 and take the L.
- 42:55Speaker 2: And also, what we thought was lose Caleb Williams for
- 42:58Speaker 2: a long extended period of time turned out not to be.
- 43:02Speaker 2: But we're probably going to see potentially Tyson Bajent at
- 43:06Speaker 2: quarterback for the Bears. What are you looking for in
- 43:09Speaker 2: this game, Philly versus Chicago on Monday night?
- 43:14Speaker 1: Mitchell, I don't know how to feel. The Philadelphia Eagles
- 43:17Speaker 1: needed a last-second touchdown with nine seconds to go to
- 43:21Speaker 1: beat the Tennessee Titans who won three games last year.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts looked fantastic during that drive. I thought Devontae
- 43:29Speaker 1: Smith looked really great throughout this game. Looked dependable. They
- 43:33Speaker 1: did a great job. They lost Dallas Goddard. Brought back
- 43:37Speaker 1: Philadelphia's favorite son, Zach Ertz, back into the fold, which
- 43:41Speaker 1: is great. Stanford man. Love to see it. Love for
- 43:44Speaker 1: Zach to get back in the mix. But Caleb, like,
- 43:51Speaker 1: come on now. Come on. Mitchell Hurts. I played football
- 43:54Speaker 1: for a very long time. If I hear somebody scream
- 43:58Speaker 1: on that field when they're laying down, their season is over.
- 44:01Speaker 1: That's like a signal to everybody. You get on a knee,
- 44:04Speaker 1: you go touch the cart, you go talk to them,
- 44:07Speaker 1: you know, pat them on the back. They give the
- 44:09Speaker 1: crowd a wave. That's a wave goodbye, Mitchell. That's a
- 44:12Speaker 1: wave see you next year. I will not be returning
- 44:15Speaker 1: with pads on this season. When they came out and
- 44:18Speaker 1: said Caleb Williams is day-to-day or week-to-week, All right, now.
- 44:28Speaker 1: All right, now. This is a bit of an exaggeration.
- 44:32Speaker 1: You're doing a little too much. Doing all that screaming
- 44:35Speaker 1: and hooping and hollering. If you don't walk your ass
- 44:36Speaker 1: to the locker room and get checked out, for him
- 44:39Speaker 1: to get on a damn cart for a grade one,
- 44:42Speaker 1: even a grade two hamstring, a grade two hamstring, you
- 44:45Speaker 1: got to be like, all right, now. Like, grade two
- 44:47Speaker 1: hamstring's tough. But a grade three is tearing it off
- 44:49Speaker 1: the bone. If it's a grade one and you got
- 44:54Speaker 1: on that cart and put a towel over your head
- 44:58Speaker 1: Be ashamed of yourself. You should be ashamed of yourself.
- 45:01Speaker 1: This ain't no like, oh, it's the fingernail polish. It's this,
- 45:05Speaker 1: it's that. It's like making, this is football. Grade one hamstring.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Maybe you're frustrated that the game's, that you're not playing
- 45:14Speaker 1: well and the team's not playing well and you're not
- 45:15Speaker 1: going to play this game.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Cool.
- 45:17Speaker 1: I understand that. Like, man, I had this one. Like,
- 45:19Speaker 1: I'm so ready. Like, ah, my hamstring.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Like, dang.
- 45:23Speaker 1: But then the cart. The card is when I don't understand.
- 45:26Speaker 1: People are tapping you on the shoulder. Don't tap me
- 45:28Speaker 1: on my damn shoulder for a hamstring. I walked it off.
- 45:31Speaker 1: I walked off an Achilles. Rupture. Gone. Foot hanging. And
- 45:37Speaker 1: we catching a card for a grade one and a
- 45:40Speaker 1: half hamstring? Hate to see it. Now, what were we
- 45:47Speaker 1: talking about this game? Oh, yeah, yeah, Mitchell. With all
- 45:49Speaker 1: that being said, sorry. With all that being said, I
- 45:53Speaker 1: got Philly in this one, Mitchell. Philly, Chicago didn't do
- 45:57Speaker 1: enough offensively. They scored three points against Brian Flores' Minnesota
- 46:01Speaker 1: Vikings defense. I don't see Tyson Bajan or Case Keenum
- 46:06Speaker 1: or even Caleb if he comes out there. Because right now, Caleb, you, you, you,
- 46:09Speaker 1: they're going to be talking crazy to you if you
- 46:11Speaker 1: come out there. Yikes. You're going to hear guys at
- 46:15Speaker 1: the line.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Ah!
- 46:18Speaker 1: It is. Like, oh, man, my bad. Had a hangnail. Sheesh.
- 46:25Speaker 2: All right, guys, please make sure you tune in on
- 46:28Speaker 2: Monday night and start watching football the smart way, whether
- 46:32Speaker 2: it's a Saturday in the fall or a Monday night
- 46:34Speaker 2: football game like this one. Check out Sling's Day Pass
- 46:38Speaker 2: subscription and get instant access to 24 hours of live
- 46:43Speaker 2: TV starting at just $ 4. 99. Drop who you got in
- 46:47Speaker 2: this one's comments and watch the game on Sling.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Football is back. And if you're getting ready for the season,
- 46:55Speaker 1: pull up to your local Lids. The exclusive 47 NFL
- 47:00Speaker 1: collection is available only in store at Lids. And this
- 47:04Speaker 1: gear is the gear you're going to need if you're
- 47:06Speaker 1: going all in all season.
- 47:08Speaker 2: No doubt about it. We're talking NFL graphic tees. The
- 47:12Speaker 2: iconic 47 hitch headwear silhouette. Richard, you like this, man?
- 47:18Speaker 1: I love this.
- 47:18Speaker 2: The Detroit Lions 47 hitch headwear I got on. and
- 47:23Speaker 2: fan gear that looks good on game day, Monday morning
- 47:26Speaker 2: and every day in between.
- 47:28Speaker 1: And listen, I know a little something about being all in.
- 47:31Speaker 1: The Legion of Boom energy, it was not casual. We
- 47:35Speaker 1: didn't walk on the field hoping people noticed us. We
- 47:38Speaker 1: set the tone. We brought the energy. We made sure
- 47:42Speaker 1: everybody knew exactly who they were dealing with.
- 47:45Speaker 2: That's how you should rep your team, Richard.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Confidence.
- 47:48Speaker 2: No apologies. Whether you're hosting the crew, watching the family,
- 47:52Speaker 2: tailgating before the game, or sitting across from somebody wearing
- 47:55Speaker 2: the wrong colors. Get to your local lids and rep
- 47:59Speaker 2: your squad the right way.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Football isn't just a Sunday thing. It's a rivalry. It's tradition.
- 48:06Speaker 1: It's pride. It's who you are all week long. So
- 48:10Speaker 1: don't wait until kickoff to get ready. Pull up to
- 48:13Speaker 1: Lids and go all in, all season, only in store
- 48:17Speaker 1: at Lids.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Richard, it's the fourth quarter and the Richard Sherman podcast.
- 48:22Speaker 2: I'm going to rattle off a couple games to you,
- 48:25Speaker 2: and you're going to give me immediate feedback on who
- 48:28Speaker 2: you like to win and a quick explanation as to why.
- 48:33Speaker 2: We start with the red-hot Buffalo Bills, fresh off a
- 48:36Speaker 2: win against my Detroit Lions. Let me take a moment
- 48:39Speaker 2: to pause and reflect. They're taking on the 0-2 L.A.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Chargers.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Richard, who do you like? Polly Market likes the Bills
- 48:48Speaker 2: at 76%. I like the Bills, too.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Josh Allen and two 6'5, 6'6, prototypical quarterbacks heading in
- 48:59Speaker 1: two different directions, Mitchell. Got the Bills. I do too.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Buffalo Bills, 3-0. Chargers, and we already called it, guys,
- 49:05Speaker 2: dating back to the last podcast, look out for the
- 49:08Speaker 2: Chargers to start 0-9 this season. There's a legitimate runway
- 49:13Speaker 2: for that to happen. Game two, the Chiefs taking on
- 49:17Speaker 2: the lowly Miami Dolphins. You already listed, Ken, Walker III, K-9,
- 49:22Speaker 2: Michigan State alum as number three candidate in your MVP honors.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Who do you like in this game, though? You think
- 49:30Speaker 2: K-9 leads the Chiefs to another win?
- 49:34Speaker 1: No question. I think K-9 leaves the Chiefs, and then
- 49:37Speaker 1: that defense is going to take advantage of a Miami
- 49:40Speaker 1: Dolphins offense that hasn't shown a ton of life. I
- 49:43Speaker 1: think they're going to make some plays. These young guys,
- 49:45Speaker 1: I like Noel Williams. I like him at corner. He
- 49:47Speaker 1: just keeps showing up on tape for me, and it's great.
- 49:50Speaker 1: It's fantastic. They're going to pass. Russell's going to get home.
- 49:53Speaker 1: And then again, the Chiefs with an Arias. You weren't
- 49:57Speaker 1: here for that, Mitchell, but the Chiefs with an Arias
- 49:59Speaker 1: usually end up in a Super Bowl. We'll see.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I like the Chiefs, too. It looks like they're back.
- 50:03Speaker 2: Not even an ACL injury could stop This team, Patrick Mahomes, man,
- 50:09Speaker 2: he's one of a kind. Another team that's red hot,
- 50:12Speaker 2: this Minnesota Vikings team lose Kyler Murray early in the
- 50:16Speaker 2: season to a nasty hit. He goes into concussion protocol.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Insert Carson Wentz leads the team to a 2-0 start.
- 50:23Speaker 2: They take on the 0-2 Tampa Bay Bucs. Do you
- 50:27Speaker 2: think Kyler Murray and this Vikings team improves to 3-0?
- 50:33Speaker 1: Well, they're going to lean on their run game like
- 50:34Speaker 1: they have been. Aaron Jones has done a fantastic job
- 50:36Speaker 1: for them. They're going to continue to use him and
- 50:39Speaker 1: lean on him. And if they can do that against
- 50:42Speaker 1: this Bucs team, that is a struggle. Baker Mayfield has
- 50:46Speaker 1: struggled to start this season. So I got the Vikings
- 50:48Speaker 1: and Brian Flores making Baker Mayfield's life hell like they
- 50:52Speaker 1: have the previous two quarterbacks they faced. I got the
- 50:55Speaker 1: Vikings continuing on 3-0.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Shout out to the Bucs representing the NFC South so
- 51:01Speaker 2: well to start the season off at 0-2. Richard, there
- 51:04Speaker 2: was a lot of hope for this New York Giants
- 51:07Speaker 2: team and fan base heading into the season. They start
- 51:11Speaker 2: the season off 1-0 with a win against the Dallas Cowboys.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Lose pretty handily to the LA Rams, and now they
- 51:19Speaker 2: take on the Tennessee Titans. Word on the street is
- 51:21Speaker 2: Jackson Dart could miss the entire season.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Boy, oh boy.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Jameis Winston takes over for this giants team. Who do
- 51:30Speaker 2: you got, man? And very unfortunate news for Jackson dart again,
- 51:35Speaker 2: cannot confirm, but it's looking like it could be a
- 51:37Speaker 2: long one for them. But who do you like in
- 51:39Speaker 2: this game? Giants or the Titans?
- 51:43Speaker 1: Well, I got to say the giants, even with everything
- 51:45Speaker 1: that's going on. Um, I think they're going to lean
- 51:47Speaker 1: on their run game. Jameis will play better than he
- 51:50Speaker 1: did last, uh, last night. Uh, I think he will
- 51:54Speaker 1: have to play better. Um, I think Cam Ward is
- 51:56Speaker 1: starting to figure it out for the Titans. They played
- 51:58Speaker 1: some good football last week. I thought they gave the
- 52:01Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles all they can handle. But the Giants are
- 52:05Speaker 1: well coached in every aspect. I think they were a
- 52:07Speaker 1: little shell-shocked. You lose your starting quarterback. You're worried about him.
- 52:10Speaker 1: He's on the mind of your team throughout the game.
- 52:13Speaker 1: But Javon Holland. Javon Holland's a guy. Abdul Carter's a guy.
- 52:17Speaker 1: I think they're going to have a good day, and
- 52:20Speaker 1: I think that's why they can pull this one out.
- 52:22Speaker 1: I got the Giants. Give me the Titans.
- 52:23Speaker 2: Robert Sala doesn't continue this winless streak. I got Robert
- 52:28Speaker 2: Sala in the Titans. Then, Richard, the New England Patriots
- 52:31Speaker 2: 1-1 take on the 1-1 Jacksonville Jaguars. Both teams, you know,
- 52:37Speaker 2: interesting teams in this AFC. Both could be contenders. Who
- 52:41Speaker 2: do you like to come out victorious in this one?
- 52:45Speaker 1: Well, I know that Jacksonville defense, as opportunistic and aggressive
- 52:49Speaker 1: as they are, I think they're going to look to
- 52:51Speaker 1: bounce back. And then Trevor Lawrence. Trevor Lawrence and his
- 52:55Speaker 1: receiving core. I think they're going to look to have
- 52:58Speaker 1: a good day against this New England Patriots defense that
- 53:02Speaker 1: really gave Aaron Rodgers a very long and tough day.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I think they're going to struggle a bit more with
- 53:08Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence. I got the Jacksonville Jaguars winning this game.
- 53:11Speaker 2: And then finally... Tale of 0-2 teams. I didn't see
- 53:16Speaker 2: this one coming. Houston Texans 0-2, taking on the Indianapolis Colts,
- 53:20Speaker 2: also 0-2. The Colts had a heck of a fight
- 53:24Speaker 2: against Kansas City last weekend. Who do you think wins
- 53:28Speaker 2: this game? A battle which both teams desperately need.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Well, I think the Texans defense that was one of
- 53:38Speaker 1: the top in the league last year are still licking
- 53:40Speaker 1: their wounds. They're still trying to figure it out. They
- 53:41Speaker 1: had a better showing last week versus the Cincinnati Bengals,
- 53:46Speaker 1: but still gave up 20 points and could not stop
- 53:48Speaker 1: Jamar Chase, even with Derek Stingley, one of the best
- 53:51Speaker 1: corners in the National Football League. Those LSU buddies were
- 53:54Speaker 1: going at it, and Jamar Chase got the best of
- 53:56Speaker 1: that matchup. So I'm not sure. C.J. Stroud threw for
- 54:00Speaker 1: 300 yards, 350 yards on 55 attempts, but they weren't
- 54:04Speaker 1: able to get David Montgomery in the run game going.
- 54:07Speaker 1: And obviously, Jonathan Allen and Dexter Lawrence had a lot
- 54:11Speaker 1: to do with that. I think they start to figure
- 54:13Speaker 1: it out. But DeForest Buckner is nothing to sniff at either.
- 54:16Speaker 1: That defensive line can get it done at a high level.
- 54:19Speaker 1: And then Jonathan Taylor. Jonathan Taylor looked really good versus
- 54:22Speaker 1: the Kansas City Chiefs. They ran the ball well. Can
- 54:25Speaker 1: they do it against this monstrous defense? We shall see.
- 54:29Speaker 1: I think I got the Houston Texans winning this game 17-14.
- 54:33Speaker 2: Well, hey, that concludes our Week 3 prediction.
