- 0:40Speaker 1: it comes to home improvement projects. We're gonna get to that.
- 0:43Speaker 1: In just a moment, I mentioned the website Larsenhomeservices dot com.

- 1:13Speaker 1: Tellent forh number six oh eight five three five forty
- 1:16Speaker 1: three forty three. That's five three five four three four
- 1:19Speaker 1: three and Andrew. When it comes to every walk of life,
- 1:24Speaker 1: everything we experience, the reality is budget, money, affordability, value.
- 1:31Speaker 1: All of these things play into every decision we make, don't.
- 1:34Speaker 2: They everything we do.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I would say as a household, as a family, as
- 1:42Speaker 3: a single person, it doesn't matter.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It comes down to affordability. What can we do with
- 1:48Speaker 2: the money we have?
- 1:49Speaker 3: And I mean we walk into homes every single day
- 1:53Speaker 3: to try to help people fix their homes, save them time,
- 1:56Speaker 3: keep them safe, keep them off a ladder, keep them
- 1:58Speaker 3: off a roof. All comes at a price. And I
- 2:03Speaker 3: mean we've talked about this before. We're definitely not the
- 2:05Speaker 3: cheapest people out there. A lot of times we might be.
- 2:08Speaker 3: We might be the highest priced people out there, but
- 2:11Speaker 3: because of the experience that we.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Give with our services and the.
- 2:17Speaker 3: The skilled people that we have, I mean skilled, yeah,
- 2:21Speaker 3: people cost a lot. And one of the someone asked
- 2:25Speaker 3: me the other day. You know what makes what makes
- 2:29Speaker 3: me tick, what makes me want to grow the business,
- 2:31Speaker 3: And honestly, the biggest thing for me is is watching
- 2:34Speaker 3: the people that work for us succeed, Watching eighteen nineteen,
- 2:40Speaker 3: twenty twenty one year old I will call them kids.
- 2:42Speaker 2: That's how you know you're getting old. I'm saying, shot,
- 2:48Speaker 2: are you twenty one? Oh?
- 2:49Speaker 3: That's anyway you start to judge everyone on whether you
- 2:55Speaker 3: could be their father?
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah? Right, yeah, and I can anyway.
- 2:58Speaker 3: All right, Sorry, off topic, but watching them succeed, watching
- 3:01Speaker 3: them come come in and take a job because they
- 3:04Speaker 3: trust you, and then watching them succeed, then watching them grow,
- 3:09Speaker 3: And the first thing is always a new car or
- 3:12Speaker 3: a new truck, and then it's engaged and married and
- 3:14Speaker 3: a new home and kids. And that's the stuff that
- 3:18Speaker 3: makes me happy. That stuff in order to pay those
- 3:22Speaker 3: people a living way, not only a living wage, a
- 3:25Speaker 3: very very good living wage, like we have to charge
- 3:28Speaker 3: for what we do. We have to charge for their
- 3:30Speaker 3: expertise and their hard work. So everything comes at a price.
- 3:36Speaker 3: And sometimes people have a good idea of what a
- 3:38Speaker 3: project's going to cost.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Sometimes they have no idea.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Most times people have like a hope and a prayer
- 3:45Speaker 3: of what they think it.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Will cost or what they hope it will cost.
- 3:49Speaker 3: But I talk to the reps all the time about this.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Trust me, Sean, I have a point, but I might
- 3:55Speaker 3: get a little off topic.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Okay, I love it.
- 4:00Speaker 3: How many people walk onto a car lot and say,
- 4:04Speaker 3: you know, I'd like to buy that new Silverado over there.
- 4:07Speaker 2: How much is it?
- 4:07Speaker 3: And the salesperson says, well, that Silverado is going to
- 4:10Speaker 3: be fifty thousand dollars and you jump on, jump up
- 4:15Speaker 3: and down for join and gold.
- 4:16Speaker 2: That's great, I love that price. Let me just write
- 4:18Speaker 2: a check.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Nope, absolutely, almost nobody, Almost nobody does it. We have been,
- 4:28Speaker 3: We've just been. You take out payments on a car,
- 4:31Speaker 3: like that's just what people do. Not everybody, but and
- 4:34Speaker 3: I'm throwing numbers out there, but I would say at
- 4:36Speaker 3: least ninety five percent of all people that go to
- 4:39Speaker 3: buy a new.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Vehicle, they take out a loan finance.
- 4:42Speaker 3: They hope that the old car that they had has
- 4:44Speaker 3: some value still in it, and they either sell it
- 4:46Speaker 3: out right or they trade it in and they get
- 4:47Speaker 3: a new vehicle.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Because what does that salesperson.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Always ask, what type of payment are you looking for yes,
- 4:55Speaker 3: not how much would you like to pay for the car,
- 4:59Speaker 3: because we.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Don't think about it in those terms.
- 5:01Speaker 3: We think about it and I would really like this vehicle,
- 5:03Speaker 3: and I would like a payment under five hundred dollars
- 5:06Speaker 3: a month or under four hundred dollars a month, right,
- 5:11Speaker 3: But nobody ever thinks about that when they go to
- 5:14Speaker 3: buy a new roof or go to get new gutters.
- 5:17Speaker 3: And it's because we just haven't been trained that way.
- 5:21Speaker 3: But look, when you put a new roof on your home,
- 5:25Speaker 3: you are you are adding value to your home. You
- 5:29Speaker 3: are adding I would call stability to your home. There's
- 5:32Speaker 3: almost nothing more important than keeping water out of your home.
- 5:35Speaker 3: You drive around the country all day long, around Wisconsin,
- 5:38Speaker 3: you see rotten barns. The first thing that went wrong
- 5:40Speaker 3: with those barns was the roof went bad. Nobody fixed
- 5:43Speaker 3: the roof and it just rotted from the inside out.
- 5:45Speaker 3: A roof is very very very important. Nextally, keeping the
- 5:48Speaker 3: water away from the foundation so it can infiltrate it
- 5:50Speaker 3: can't infiltrate your home, very very very important. But we
- 5:55Speaker 3: might come out and do an estimate and you really
- 5:57Speaker 3: want it, and then we drop a twenty thirty thousand
- 5:59Speaker 3: dollar bomb on you, and you're like, oh, but we
- 6:03Speaker 3: have options. We have payment options. We have payment options
- 6:08Speaker 3: that nobody else has. A lot of people offer no interest,
- 6:15Speaker 3: no interest, no payment deals.
- 6:16Speaker 2: We have those.
- 6:18Speaker 3: But when I'm coming to do a roof for twenty
- 6:20Speaker 3: thousand dollars, a lot of times one year of no interest,
- 6:24Speaker 3: no payments really isn't going to help somebody because if
- 6:27Speaker 3: they don't have the money for it now, probably not
- 6:29Speaker 3: going to have the money for it in a year.
- 6:31Speaker 3: And you know a lot of times those no interest
- 6:33Speaker 3: no payment deals they balloon in the end if you
- 6:35Speaker 3: don't pay them off on time.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Right, Well, what if I could say to.
- 6:38Speaker 3: You, we can give you no interest, no payments for
- 6:42Speaker 3: a year. Whatever you pay off is awesome, comes off
- 6:45Speaker 3: the principle if you pay it all off, fantastic. If
- 6:48Speaker 3: you don't, it will then roll into a six point
- 6:52Speaker 3: nine to nine percent payment. You can't even go to
- 6:56Speaker 3: the bank right now and get six point nine to
- 6:58Speaker 3: nine percent on an unsecured loan doesn't exist.
- 7:02Speaker 2: You might be able to get a heelock.
- 7:05Speaker 3: But the rates that we have in the payments that
- 7:08Speaker 3: we have are phenomenal, and we what we really want
- 7:11Speaker 3: to try to do is just fit it into somebody's budget.
- 7:14Speaker 3: If we show somebody a price and they really really
- 7:16Speaker 3: really want to do it, and we show them a
- 7:18Speaker 3: payment that's too much, we can extend terms, we can
- 7:22Speaker 3: lower interest rates. There's all kinds of things we can do,
- 7:25Speaker 3: and we have it. We can do it all right
- 7:27Speaker 3: in the home, right on a computer or right over
- 7:29Speaker 3: the phone, and get people approved and give them the
- 7:32Speaker 3: help they need to fix their home so it looks
- 7:34Speaker 3: and functions.
- 7:35Speaker 2: The way that they deserve their home to.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Look in function and not having to break the bank
- 7:40Speaker 3: to do it.
- 7:41Speaker 1: One of the things Andrew to is is that word
- 7:43Speaker 1: value is what is it? What is it worth? What's
- 7:46Speaker 1: the value to you? Is the importance of you know,
- 7:49Speaker 1: when you talk about, you know, buying a new car
- 7:52Speaker 1: versus versus putting a new roof on your home, for
- 7:56Speaker 1: you know, what's the long term value that that car is?
- 7:59Speaker 1: We all though the second drive it off lot depreciating.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It's it's process.
- 8:04Speaker 1: It's a losing it's a losing asset. Your home, on
- 8:07Speaker 1: the other hand, is something that when it comes to
- 8:09Speaker 1: putting money into something or somewhere, you cannot go wrong
- 8:13Speaker 1: doing the right thing by your home, and specifically we
- 8:16Speaker 1: talk about Yeah, you mentioned barns and what happens to
- 8:19Speaker 1: barnes and how they start to deteriorate. Is the importance
- 8:22Speaker 1: of having a dry house, having a good solid roof
- 8:26Speaker 1: to keep everything inside, uh, keep it, keep everything from
- 8:31Speaker 1: from falling apart from falling down. I know a lot
- 8:33Speaker 1: of times, and I know you've talked about this. You
- 8:35Speaker 1: talk with folks that are building new homes those type
- 8:38Speaker 1: of things, to talk about beautiful countertops and great little
- 8:41Speaker 1: gas fireplace, those type of things. Those things are all
- 8:44Speaker 1: nice and good, but without that, without that fantastic if
- 8:47Speaker 1: we're gonna do some remodeling, without that fantastic roof, all
- 8:50Speaker 1: those other things are really not really of much value
- 8:55Speaker 1: when it comes to things like gutters. When it comes
- 8:57Speaker 1: to things like roofing, these are values. And as we
- 9:00Speaker 1: talk with Andrew this morning about taking care of your home,
- 9:03Speaker 1: you do not want to let these things go unattended.
- 9:05Speaker 1: You don't want to cut corners. The other reason, Andrew,
- 9:08Speaker 1: I know in working with you is you guys did
- 9:11Speaker 1: the roof on the preval household a number of years ago.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Is when it comes to that estimate, you're going in
- 9:16Speaker 1: great detail of what is included in that. Like some
- 9:20Speaker 1: folks may give you an estimate and it doesn't include everything,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and all of a sudden you get to the end
- 9:23Speaker 1: you're like, wait, this is way more than what was estimated.
- 9:27Speaker 1: It's like, well, we ran into this rant of this.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Your guys go up in the attic. They're looking at
- 9:31Speaker 1: the looking at the roof from the bottom side, they're
- 9:33Speaker 1: looking around the chimney. They're doing all these things. And
- 9:36Speaker 1: then when the give gives you, guys, give that estimate
- 9:39Speaker 1: to the homeowner. They can stand by you, guys can
- 9:41Speaker 1: say this is what you're doing. It's it's really amazing.
- 9:44Speaker 1: So when we talk about value, we talk about spending
- 9:47Speaker 1: your hard earned money where you're going to put it.
- 9:49Speaker 1: No better place to put it than in your house.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And of course working with somebody that you trust, that
- 9:53Speaker 1: you know somebody's going to get the job right. Talk
- 9:55Speaker 1: with Andrew Larson, a team of Lars Home Services tel
