- 0:03Speaker 1: Ulan was in an early season and she's a lesbian Bulan.
- 0:06Speaker 1: She was in love with Sleeping Beauty. No, she's Sheen.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I'm me, No me, not my name? Yo? Yo? What
- 0:19Speaker 1: is your childhood? I am a cook chokra.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Yo?
- 0:25Speaker 1: What's going down? Before? So round? I'm Roseamu and I'm
- 0:40Speaker 1: fran Torado. Yesterday's pop Culture, Today's takes. You know the drill? Rose,
- 0:44Speaker 1: Guess what I watched yesterday? What did you watch? I'm
- 0:49Speaker 1: not gonna guess. You're never gonna it's it's actually not
- 0:51Speaker 1: really that guessable because I actually felt like the movie
- 0:53Speaker 1: was a little forgettable. It was talk to me, you
- 0:57Speaker 1: thought it was forgettable. I thought it was, well, okay.
- 1:00Speaker 1: The problem, honestly was the hype, like people were really
- 1:04Speaker 1: hyping up this movie, and it really was just another
- 1:08Speaker 1: scary movie. I do, yeah, I think I said that
- 1:10Speaker 1: when I talked about it. I saw it that people
- 1:13Speaker 1: were saying it was like the best horror movie of
- 1:16Speaker 1: the year. It was like elevated. It was like on
- 1:18Speaker 1: the level of hereditarian. It's not. It's it's a really
- 1:20Speaker 1: good horror movie, but it's not anything groundbreaking. Yes, I
- 1:25Speaker 1: remember you talking about it I'm sitting here on the
- 1:27Speaker 1: Patreon trying to echo and amplify my colleague and say
- 1:30Speaker 1: that it really was. It was the thing for me. Okay,
- 1:32Speaker 1: so obviously the casting was insane. The like I thought
- 1:36Speaker 1: that the main girl, the final girl, which you know,
- 1:40Speaker 1: she was awesome. She was really good, and I loved
- 1:42Speaker 1: seeing Miranda Otto getting work is that she was the
- 1:46Speaker 1: mom she's Ao in from Lord of the Rings, Oh
- 1:50Speaker 1: my god, And she was aunt Zelda in Chilling Adventures
- 1:55Speaker 1: of Sabrina. Did you call Chilling Adventures of Oh wait, wait, girl,
- 2:00Speaker 1: girl girl. I watched every single episode of Chilling Adventures
- 2:05Speaker 1: of Sabrina and it never, not once realized that that
- 2:07Speaker 1: was a own Yeah, girl, Oh my god, I am
- 2:12Speaker 1: no man, I am a man. That's I am no mom. Wait,
- 2:16Speaker 1: that's fucking wild. She ate in that movie. She was
- 2:20Speaker 1: really really good. She should have had more to do. Honestly,
- 2:22Speaker 1: I kind of wish that she had to, like really like, yeah,
- 2:25Speaker 1: the monster. But I think it was smart that the
- 2:27Speaker 1: parents were these very sort of satellite figures because that
- 2:32Speaker 1: allowed everything to happen the way it happened.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I mean, it's a very well made movie, but it's
- 2:38Speaker 1: not you know, the past couple of years, there's been
- 2:41Speaker 1: this whole conversation around elevated horror with you know, things
- 2:45Speaker 1: like Hereditarian, the Witch and that kind of stuff, and
- 2:47Speaker 1: this is not that. It's just a really well made
- 2:50Speaker 1: scary movie. Yeah, I mean it felt elevated in that,
- 2:53Speaker 1: like the script wasn't complete garbage, but it is still
- 2:57Speaker 1: pretty silly. Like they're likening demon possession into like junkie culture.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Like they were basically like this girl was basically getting
- 3:04Speaker 1: addicted to being possessed by demons. Yeah, and like they
- 3:07Speaker 1: all kind of got well like ghosts, demons, ghosts, right,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and and they think that they there was this kind
- 3:14Speaker 1: of like rushy like I don't know, it was it
- 3:17Speaker 1: was interesting. I thought that the whole premise was interesting
- 3:19Speaker 1: and it wasn't something that I'd seen before, but it
- 3:21Speaker 1: really was not that scary. I thought. I watched it
- 3:23Speaker 1: with Dakota last night because I was just like, I
- 3:25Speaker 1: can't watch this alone. But I totally could have watched
- 3:27Speaker 1: it alone and been fine, Yeah, it's not there's it's
- 3:32Speaker 1: there's not a lot of jump scares. It's really more
- 3:35Speaker 1: movie about tension, and obviously tension is incredibly important in
- 3:39Speaker 1: horror movies and also very important to Kylie Minogue. Yes,
- 3:45Speaker 1: it was a single name. I still haven't listened to
- 3:48Speaker 1: the Kylie album in full and like a in a
- 3:51Speaker 1: way where I'm paying attention to it. I've I've had
- 3:54Speaker 1: it on in the background doing other things, but I
- 3:58Speaker 1: haven't done a close read. But yet I have listened
- 4:01Speaker 1: to it all the way through while working. Yeah, the
- 4:05Speaker 1: singles are it like for me, like I'm gonna listen again.
- 4:10Speaker 1: But like Kylie just from her going off of like
- 4:15Speaker 1: her last album, like her stuff can really blend together.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Sometimes it's kind of a Carly Ray Jeffson effect where
- 4:23Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, like every song is like a bop,
- 4:26Speaker 1: like this is good, like I love this disco like
- 4:29Speaker 1: Queen like but then you like can't really tell like
- 4:32Speaker 1: the last song from the song before it. Mm, yeah,
- 4:37Speaker 1: but you know I'll listen again. Well. On the subject
- 4:41Speaker 1: of horror movies, I saw The nun too last week.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I've never seen any noun movie. Well, I watched Well
- 4:47Speaker 1: there's only two of them, although they exist in the
- 4:50Speaker 1: Conjuring universe. I've never seen any of those movies like
- 4:53Speaker 1: Annabel or anything. Wait wait, wait, wait wait, I actually
- 4:57Speaker 1: only learning last night that Conjuring, Annabelle the Nun are
- 5:02Speaker 1: all related. Yes, they all exist in the same cinemas Insidious.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Also in that ords is something else. It might be.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I don't know, but I watched The Nun recently because
- 5:16Speaker 1: one of my TikTok mutuals was talking about it because
- 5:20Speaker 1: she's obsessed with nuns and she was and she's like
- 5:24Speaker 1: loves horror movies and said it was actually good. So
- 5:28Speaker 1: I watched it, and the first movie is good, even
- 5:30Speaker 1: though Testa Formilia is just such a nothing actress. So
- 5:37Speaker 1: last week I was actually I was supposed to go
- 5:39Speaker 1: on a date for I was supposed to go on
- 5:42Speaker 1: a date with this guy who had canceled on me
- 5:45Speaker 1: once before, and then we made plans to go on
- 5:47Speaker 1: a date and then the day of I was like
- 5:48Speaker 1: messaging him and didn't hear from him, and so I
- 5:51Speaker 1: was like, Okay, well, I'm just gonna take myself to
- 5:54Speaker 1: the movies and like, do that are you kidding me? Did?
- 5:58Speaker 1: He never respond? No? He did, Like by the time
- 6:01Speaker 1: I like, as I was sitting down in the theater,
- 6:03Speaker 1: he messaged me and told me that there was a
- 6:05Speaker 1: crack in his ceiling and oh, I'm s and like,
- 6:10Speaker 1: even if it's true, it's just like, why didn't you
- 6:12Speaker 1: say that this is the this is the second time
- 6:15Speaker 1: something like this has happened. So I'm just like, it's
- 6:17Speaker 1: not worth it to me. So I'm just done. But
- 6:21Speaker 1: I saw the Nun too, that guy, I saw the
- 6:24Speaker 1: nunto and it was bad, so bad, it was bad.
- 6:30Speaker 1: So the plot of the Nun movies is there's this
- 6:33Speaker 1: demon who takes the form of a nun because it's
- 6:38Speaker 1: like its whole purpose is to be just like incredibly blasphemous. Okay,
- 6:43Speaker 1: so that's why it, you know, stunts as a nun.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And I'm assuming the origin is somewhere along the lines
- 6:48Speaker 1: of like it used to be in a convent. Katie
- 6:51Speaker 1: Perry started renting the convent. Yes, yeah, well no, so
- 6:55Speaker 1: it held her original mortal form. Yes, it was, well,
- 6:57Speaker 1: it was in a convent. And then it takes place
- 7:00Speaker 1: in the fifties and in the first movie, because of
- 7:05Speaker 1: the bombings during World War Two, the like ground was
- 7:08Speaker 1: split open in this convent and let this demon out
- 7:11Speaker 1: because it had been sealed in there with the blood
- 7:13Speaker 1: of Jesus Christ. And Tessa Formilia is a prospective nun.
- 7:19Speaker 1: She hasn't taken her vows yet and she has like
- 7:24Speaker 1: ecstatic visions from God and so she is sent to
- 7:28Speaker 1: the convent and she helps like defeat this demon, but
- 7:32Speaker 1: it turns out they didn't defeat it, and it attaches
- 7:34Speaker 1: itself to this really hot guy who then in the
- 7:38Speaker 1: second movie is like going around to all these churches
- 7:41Speaker 1: and like killing priests because they're looking for this saint's' eyes. Okay,
- 7:47Speaker 1: and I'm almost into that, but it wasn't good. Yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 1: And Tessa Formilia and teams up with storm Read, who's
- 7:53Speaker 1: also a nun. Storm Read was doing. She's very out
- 7:58Speaker 1: of place in the movie. That's because she's such an
- 8:00Speaker 1: amazing Oh also, Susan from the Narnia movies, isn't it
- 8:07Speaker 1: as a teacher at a convent. I fucking love her.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I knew who she was immediately because she has such
- 8:13Speaker 1: a specific face. Her a little like porcelain dollphace. Yes, yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 1: she looks like a doll, she does. And so, I,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I mean, Tessa Formilia is just not a good actress.
- 8:27Speaker 1: And I and I did tweet this, and you know,
- 8:31Speaker 1: I hate to like reuse jokes that I made on Twitter already,
- 8:34Speaker 1: but I will I will forgive her for her acting
- 8:38Speaker 1: in the nun to the absolute second that The Guilden
- 8:43Speaker 1: Age season two starts and not a moment before. But yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 1: it was not a good movie. But and it wasn't
- 8:51Speaker 1: even that scary. But there were some a few good
- 8:54Speaker 1: jump scares and that, so that was disappointing. But there's
- 9:02Speaker 1: something else I've been watching that we need to talk about.
- 9:06Speaker 1: As long as it's not The Gilded Age, I'm okay,
- 9:08Speaker 1: Well it's worse. So for some reason, last weekend. Okay,
- 9:17Speaker 1: so for anyone who doesn't live in New York, we've
- 9:19Speaker 1: had two very rainy weekends in a row. So last
- 9:23Speaker 1: weekend it like rained all weekend. I wasn't doing anything
- 9:27Speaker 1: well except I went to baby tap runch. For some reason,
- 9:32Speaker 1: I decided to start watching the ABC series Once Upon
- 9:38Speaker 1: a Time, which is from two thousand eleven. Whoa, I
- 9:45Speaker 1: thought it was actually way for much longer. I did too.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I thought it was likely it must have been something
- 9:52Speaker 1: that came on like while I was in high school.
- 9:54Speaker 1: But no, it's starting in twenty eleven. Wow, I might
- 9:57Speaker 1: as well been have been from the nineties. Like I
- 10:00Speaker 1: watched the first season when it originally aired, and maybe
- 10:04Speaker 1: a little bit of the second season. But I fell
- 10:06Speaker 1: off because it's because it's Once upon a Time, because
- 10:10Speaker 1: it's Once apon a Time, and it's insane. It is
- 10:13Speaker 1: so the it's like the writers, I'm like worried about them.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I'm worried about the people who wrote it. Does it
- 10:22Speaker 1: does it jump off of like Disney plot points like
- 10:26Speaker 1: it used so Disney ip right to show the story.
- 10:29Speaker 1: The story of the show is there's this Girlie who
- 10:35Speaker 1: is like, she's a bail bonds person and this little boy,
- 10:40Speaker 1: this little boy comes to find her and he's like,
- 10:43Speaker 1: I'm your son who gave up ten years ago, and
- 10:47Speaker 1: I live in this town in Maine that is full
- 10:50Speaker 1: of fairy tale characters who don't remember who they are.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Of course it would be in Maine, And so she
- 10:54Speaker 1: goes with him. And what has happened is there's this
- 10:58Speaker 1: world where all fairy Hill characters exist together and the
- 11:03Speaker 1: evil Queen to get back at snow White. After snow
- 11:07Speaker 1: White like gets woken up by Prince Charming blah blah blah,
- 11:10Speaker 1: she cast this curse so that they're all transported to Storybrook, Maine,
- 11:17Speaker 1: and they all forget their lives and think they're just
- 11:20Speaker 1: normal people living in this town. So that's the whole
- 11:24Speaker 1: story first season. And the Girlie who was brought back
- 11:29Speaker 1: is the daughter of snow White and Prince Charming, because
- 11:32Speaker 1: right before the curse happened, they put her in a
- 11:35Speaker 1: magical wardrobe and transported her to our world because when
- 11:41Speaker 1: she they there was a prophecy made by Rumblestiltskinhe by
- 11:46Speaker 1: Rumblestiltskin that when she grew up she would break the curse.
- 11:51Speaker 1: And that's what happens. At the end of the first season,
- 11:53Speaker 1: she breaks the curse, they get their memories back, and
- 11:56Speaker 1: then so the first season is like pretty tight and
- 12:00Speaker 1: it's made by the peep by two of the writers
- 12:02Speaker 1: have Lost. I don't know if you ever watched Lost,
- 12:06Speaker 1: but they use the convention of loss, which is like
- 12:09Speaker 1: half of the episodes are flashbacks and they like tell
- 12:11Speaker 1: you like a character's backstory, but it's also sort of
- 12:15Speaker 1: like yellow jackets vibes, and so Once upon a Time
- 12:19Speaker 1: does that. So half of every episode is or like
- 12:22Speaker 1: three quarters of every episode is like what's going on
- 12:25Speaker 1: in present day and then or maybe like two thirds
- 12:29Speaker 1: and then one third is a certain character's backstory, and
- 12:33Speaker 1: you see how all of the different characters have like
- 12:35Speaker 1: intertwined and like everyone is related to everyone. And I've
- 12:40Speaker 1: been I told Ryan that I was watching this, and
- 12:42Speaker 1: I've been texting him sort of like random out of
- 12:45Speaker 1: context things like just found out that Peter Pan is
- 12:49Speaker 1: Rumpelstiltskin's dad, or like Peter Pan isn't a version that's crazy, no,
- 12:56Speaker 1: because of like magic and they didn't even have sex.
- 13:01Speaker 1: They just like had like no, no, no, no, he was
- 13:04Speaker 1: he had he was a father, and he like grew
- 13:06Speaker 1: up and then used like dark magic to become young. Again.
- 13:10Speaker 1: What the mental backflips these writers have to do in
- 13:15Speaker 1: order to like it's just a reality gymnasium. Yeah, and
- 13:18Speaker 1: what else? In the third season, the Wicked Witch of
- 13:21Speaker 1: the West is one of the main antagonists. So in
- 13:25Speaker 1: the past, So I started watching this last weekend and
- 13:28Speaker 1: in the past week I've watched three and a half season.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I have nothing else but watching Once upon a Time,
- 13:38Speaker 1: And like I'm just keeping it on while I'm doing
- 13:42Speaker 1: other things, and I'll tune back in when someone says,
- 13:45Speaker 1: like we have to save Belle from from her husband
- 13:49Speaker 1: rumble Stiltskin. No, no, no no, no yea Belle Belle
- 13:53Speaker 1: from Beauty and the Beast. Rumbel Stiltskin is the Beast
- 13:55Speaker 1: from Beauty and the Beast. He also is the crocodile
- 13:58Speaker 1: from Peter Pan and he's Peter Pan's dad. No, Peter
- 14:02Speaker 1: Pan is his dad. Peter Pan is. Wait, So rum
- 14:07Speaker 1: Why is rumble Steelskin a primary character in this Oh,
- 14:10Speaker 1: he's because he's like the main antagon. Him and the
- 14:12Speaker 1: Evil Queen are the main antagonist. But the Evil Queen
- 14:16Speaker 1: who is sickening, she gets redeemed and like becomes a
- 14:19Speaker 1: good person and falls in love with Robin Hood. But
- 14:23Speaker 1: rumble Stiltskin kind of goes back and forth because his
- 14:26Speaker 1: whole thing at the beginning is like he has to
- 14:28Speaker 1: find his son. Is there anybody that are there? Anybody?
- 14:31Speaker 1: Is there? Anybody famous? And Jennifer Goodwin was is like
- 14:35Speaker 1: the top billed person she was on Big Love, but
- 14:41Speaker 1: she's that's kind of the only thing she's she's done since. Okay.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Jamie Dornan, who was in Fifty Shades of Gray, was
- 14:50Speaker 1: in the first season as the Huntsman from Snow White Love. Hat.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Joanna Swisher Garcia, who hosted The Queer ultimatum is Ariel
- 15:00Speaker 1: from The Little Mermaids at one point is like Friends
- 15:05Speaker 1: with snow White. So the season i'm watching now season four. Wait,
- 15:10Speaker 1: I've watched four. I've watched four plus seasons now in
- 15:14Speaker 1: the past week. You're like, hey, no, I'm not. So
- 15:18Speaker 1: the season that I'm watching now it's Frozen Anna and Elsa.
- 15:23Speaker 1: No it's not. Yeah, no it's not. Because this is
- 15:26Speaker 1: like twenty fourteen, so this is like peak Frozen Mania.
- 15:31Speaker 1: And this was the thing with the show because it
- 15:33Speaker 1: was on ABC, so they had access to Disney IP
- 15:37Speaker 1: so they put every character in. They put Frozenzen like
- 15:43Speaker 1: it's not even just fairy tale characters like Victor Frankenstein
- 15:48Speaker 1: is in it. No, King Midas isn't it and his
- 15:52Speaker 1: daughter is supposed to marry Prince Charming but he leaves
- 15:55Speaker 1: her for snow White. Okay, who else? Give me more?
- 15:59Speaker 1: I'm Ursula was in it, but it was kind of
- 16:00Speaker 1: a fake out. But then it turns out she isn't
- 16:03Speaker 1: it the Wicked Witch of the West. As I mentioned,
- 16:05Speaker 1: Dorothy wasn't it? And I have a and I saw
- 16:08Speaker 1: a spoiler that Dorothy and Little Red Ridinghood have a
- 16:11Speaker 1: lesbian relationship at something. I know, it's just so insane
- 16:15Speaker 1: that the fuck it's a fan fiction. This is the
- 16:18Speaker 1: world's most high profile Disney fan fiction. Like, but it's
- 16:23Speaker 1: crazy and they do kind of the later in I
- 16:26Speaker 1: get to it, the more they sort of like wink
- 16:29Speaker 1: wink to the fact that everyone is related and like
- 16:32Speaker 1: it's super ridiculous, meaning they're all incestuous, Like they're all
- 16:36Speaker 1: fucking no, they're not incestuous. It's just like the family
- 16:38Speaker 1: tree is very convoluted, but it's it ran for seven seasons.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I'm only gonna watch six because the seventh season is
- 16:47Speaker 1: like a reboot kind of a yeah, it's like they
- 16:51Speaker 1: like they like start with new characters, Like the story
- 16:55Speaker 1: of the the that we're following ends at the end
- 16:58Speaker 1: of the sixth season. From what I've heard, that is
- 17:00Speaker 1: so I I honestly okay, I don't even know how
- 17:04Speaker 1: to process all of this, because this is actually literally
- 17:07Speaker 1: the first time I've ever heard the plot or like
- 17:11Speaker 1: conceit of Once upon a Time described to me in
- 17:13Speaker 1: any capacity. I've only ever seen images of this show
- 17:17Speaker 1: and understood vaguely that it was like widely popular on
- 17:20Speaker 1: network TV. But because I don't watch Network TV. And
- 17:24Speaker 1: because it's Network TV, they're twenty two episodes. No, there's not. Yeah,
- 17:29Speaker 1: and are they are they forty five minutes to eat? Yep,
- 17:31Speaker 1: Holy shit, that's a lot of television. Rows. Yes, it
- 17:35Speaker 1: was a really rainy weekend. But I'm concerned even for
- 17:38Speaker 1: you and your well because I've been watching it, like
- 17:41Speaker 1: while I eat lunch. Right, I've been watching like five
- 17:44Speaker 1: to six episodes a night, Nike. That's a lot. That's
- 17:51Speaker 1: I mean it is. If I was watching five or
- 17:54Speaker 1: six episodes of Once Upon a Time to, like, you know,
- 17:56Speaker 1: at night, it would be a very sedating it would
- 17:59Speaker 1: have a very dating I am fully and no thoughts
- 18:05Speaker 1: head empty, and you know I can't. It's the kind
- 18:08Speaker 1: of show where, like I am mostly paying attention, but
- 18:10Speaker 1: I also can be on my phone or something else.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I mean, you know, Okay, maybe this is not necessarily
- 18:41Speaker 1: my Once Upon a Time, but something that I have
- 18:43Speaker 1: watched many, many, many episodes of, despite the fact that
- 18:46Speaker 1: it is just simply not good. Is Project Runway. There
- 18:50Speaker 1: was a new season that air Project Great. No, it's
- 18:53Speaker 1: not it's not good. It's not a good show. The
- 18:56Speaker 1: judge used to be and yeah, it used to be,
- 18:58Speaker 1: but the judge, I would never Yeah, I'm watching current current,
- 19:03Speaker 1: like I'm watching this year's Project Runway with like Elaine
- 19:06Speaker 1: Welterroth and Christian Siana who still hasn't like become a
- 19:11Speaker 1: good him. Gun, he's just bitchy anyways. But No, that's
- 19:15Speaker 1: like similarly like a show that I just like I
- 19:17Speaker 1: have on. I'm like kind of paying attention. I'm kind
- 19:20Speaker 1: of not I'll like clean the house while it's on,
- 19:23Speaker 1: and I mean I'm mostly paying attention. I'm like pretty invested.
- 19:30Speaker 1: It's a little it's sick and it's to them that's
- 19:35Speaker 1: like they're sick. No, I'm sick too. I'm sick because
- 19:39Speaker 1: I chose this. I chose this knowing that the quality
- 19:43Speaker 1: is not good. The cgi is horrible. It's like shot
- 19:49Speaker 1: you know and like can like British Columbia or something,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and like the acting is awful, like the lead actress
- 19:58Speaker 1: is so wooden and like bad and it. But I'm enthralled.
- 20:04Speaker 1: G love. Look, I'm so happy that this is your journey.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I don't know where it's gonna end or you're gonna
- 20:10Speaker 1: you're not gonna finish it. You said, well, I'm going
- 20:12Speaker 1: to finish the mean I'm going to finish six seasons.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I'm on season four now, so and at the rate
- 20:18Speaker 1: I've been going, well, I have a lot going on
- 20:20Speaker 1: this week, and I'm gonna be out of town this weekend,
- 20:22Speaker 1: so I probably won't finish it. What do you do
- 20:24Speaker 1: this weekend? I'm going up to Beacon to stay with
- 20:28Speaker 1: my cousin and her wife. Oh cut, that's gonna be
- 20:30Speaker 1: a very nice little Yeah, We're gonna do like lots
- 20:33Speaker 1: of autumnal stuff. I was gonna just take I've never
- 20:36Speaker 1: been to Beacon. I was going to just take the train,
- 20:39Speaker 1: but now I'm thinking maybe about renting a car and
- 20:43Speaker 1: driving up. I thought that would be nice and then
- 20:45Speaker 1: maybe I can do some antiquing and be able to
- 20:48Speaker 1: bring stuff back with me. So Becon is the town,
- 20:51Speaker 1: and DIA Beacon is like the art museum. Whatever can
- 20:56Speaker 1: I say something? Sure DOA Becon is categorically boring. And
- 21:04Speaker 1: I've never gone there and been like wow, what a
- 21:09Speaker 1: great time? Like and and and we as New Yorkers
- 21:14Speaker 1: try to go up there all the time, Like I'm
- 21:18Speaker 1: constantly I've seen people with that mirror James Yeah, or
- 21:22Speaker 1: the James Charles. It's like girl, we've seen this like
- 21:25Speaker 1: and then they add new like sculptures or whatever. It
- 21:27Speaker 1: all looks the same. It just looks like, you know,
- 21:29Speaker 1: like I don't know, spray painted like junkyard objects, like
- 21:33Speaker 1: in an empty lawn. Like do you begin as boring?
- 21:37Speaker 1: Why are we going there? Why would it's more fun
- 21:39Speaker 1: to literally just rent an Airbnb and stay inside, which
- 21:41Speaker 1: is part It's like kind of what you're doing, You're
- 21:43Speaker 1: just gonna well, you know, I'm staying at you know,
- 21:46Speaker 1: a lovely house and a lovely house, but you're not
- 21:49Speaker 1: gonna there again. And hopefully, hopefully we might because I
- 21:52Speaker 1: kind of want to just be outside the whole weekend
- 21:54Speaker 1: and like the leaves will be starting changing, but you
- 21:57Speaker 1: won't go. I know that it's beautiful out there. Oh wait,
- 22:00Speaker 1: so I have an update on that? What? So I
- 22:03Speaker 1: recently update on your Apple allergy. I recently ate an
- 22:08Speaker 1: Apple because I wanted to see, you know, like your
- 22:10Speaker 1: body changes and like some people age out of allergies,
- 22:15Speaker 1: I'm I'm still allergic. I'm still sensitive, but I don't
- 22:20Speaker 1: think the allergy is quite as bad as it used
- 22:23Speaker 1: to be, and it's like manageable enough that I can
- 22:26Speaker 1: eat an apple. So I could go apple picking what
- 22:33Speaker 1: and I'm considering it right, but you know, it's kind
- 22:36Speaker 1: of it's not at the point. I kind of still
- 22:38Speaker 1: only want to eat, want to eat an apple under
- 22:41Speaker 1: kind of controlled circumstances. Cooked right, you can eat, can
- 22:45Speaker 1: eat cooked out. You can have an apple pie, yes,
- 22:47Speaker 1: or apple sauce or apple juice or apple cie. But
- 22:49Speaker 1: this apple. But what I learned is that the darker
- 22:53Speaker 1: red and apple is, the less allergens are in it.
- 22:57Speaker 1: So I think that's like a little safer. Too bad
- 23:00Speaker 1: that red apples are the worst apples you think? So
- 23:04Speaker 1: red delicious apples are categorically like the least respected apple
- 23:09Speaker 1: among anybody who what is produced? What do you think
- 23:11Speaker 1: is the best? I mean, it's really just personal preference,
- 23:16Speaker 1: Like people like there's like zillions of breeds of apples.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I once had like a book that was like an
- 23:22Speaker 1: apple encyclopedia or whatever. Fucking nerd, I'm such a nerd.
- 23:28Speaker 1: But categorically red delicious are disgusting. They're literally not good
- 23:32Speaker 1: for anything other than apple sauce, like meally tasteless, like
- 23:36Speaker 1: hard to eat. But I mean I love like a
- 23:41Speaker 1: honeysuckle moment. I love a Gala apple, pink Lady delicious?
- 23:46Speaker 1: What was that pink Lady delicious? I love? I love
- 23:49Speaker 1: a pink Lady apple. I actually love a pinkly apple.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Honey crisp is kind of a cop out, but I
- 23:54Speaker 1: love a Jonah gold apple. What do you like green
- 23:58Speaker 1: apples for cooking? I'm not really going to go out
- 24:01Speaker 1: of my way to eat a green a grand because
- 24:03Speaker 1: they're more tart. Yeah, and tart apples are much better
- 24:06Speaker 1: for cooking if you're going to do a pie or
- 24:08Speaker 1: something like that. But wait, okay, so let's go apple picking. Actually,
- 24:11Speaker 1: like it's we need to go very soon because there
- 24:14Speaker 1: are I mean, I don't know how global warming has
- 24:16Speaker 1: affected like apple seasons, but like there's very very limited
- 24:20Speaker 1: weeks wherein you can go to get certain breeds of
- 24:22Speaker 1: apples and good apples. So I'll strategize and maybe we'll
- 24:25Speaker 1: figure it out. Well, I might go this weekend without
- 24:29Speaker 1: if it's an option. Oh, I want to go to
- 24:31Speaker 1: a pumpkin patch, you know what? Okay, Okay, this is
- 24:33Speaker 1: kind of once upon a time coded and that's like
- 24:36Speaker 1: brain rot TV. But I am continuing my journey with
- 24:41Speaker 1: the morning show. Okay, and you've seen and heard about
- 24:45Speaker 1: it on Twitter. I assume what have you heard? What
- 24:47Speaker 1: have you seen? Well? I know that someone went to
- 24:50Speaker 1: Reese Weatherspoon went to space. You know that Reese Weatherspoon
- 24:53Speaker 1: goes to space. I know that John Hamm is in it,
- 24:57Speaker 1: and it's kind of an Elon Musk character. Unfortunately, that's
- 25:02Speaker 1: about as much as I know. Okay, and I have
- 25:05Speaker 1: multiple people in my life pressuring me to watch it.
- 25:09Speaker 1: You would love it. I'm starting weekly viewings at my
- 25:15Speaker 1: house on Wednesdays if you would like to join. It
- 25:17Speaker 1: is that level of like truly like I'm on the
- 25:22Speaker 1: edge of my seat waiting and wondering what the writers
- 25:26Speaker 1: are going to do this a week because this show
- 25:30Speaker 1: starts out as like a oh, it's a show about
- 25:33Speaker 1: a morning show, and then it's kind of me too,
- 25:35Speaker 1: and then like Steve Carell is like this like big
- 25:38Speaker 1: bad Matt Lower like me too, Kui. But then the
- 25:41Speaker 1: show pivots to being extremely anti canceled culture and is
- 25:45Speaker 1: trying to paint this like nuanced sympathetic portrait of like
- 25:48Speaker 1: a kind of maybe predator Okay aka Steve Carell. Anyways,
- 25:56Speaker 1: the show when it started was trying to be a
- 26:00Speaker 1: kind of like hyper finger on the pulse, like talking
- 26:03Speaker 1: about pop culture in real time kind of show. So
- 26:06Speaker 1: the news they were reporting on was the news of
- 26:09Speaker 1: the year that they were writing, well, right, didn't they do? Covides.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Season two of More of the Morning Show is literally
- 26:17Speaker 1: all about covid. See I could never hor But the
- 26:22Speaker 1: thing is is that the writing is actually so sorry
- 26:26Speaker 1: egregious that it is so good, Like it is one
- 26:31Speaker 1: of those shows it I feel like you and I
- 26:34Speaker 1: like we understand the difference between like a good bad
- 26:38Speaker 1: show and a bad bad show. Okay, and this show
- 26:41Speaker 1: has so perfectly rounded around bad back to good again
- 26:48Speaker 1: that makes it so sublimely watchable. And things happen in
- 26:52Speaker 1: the show that are so shocking, not on the plot level,
- 26:57Speaker 1: but shocking that a writer would write it, and that
- 27:01Speaker 1: I scream. I literally sitting alone watching TV. I am
- 27:04Speaker 1: screaming at the TV because this is so wild meat
- 27:08Speaker 1: on a time. Yeah, obviously, Like one of my favorite
- 27:11Speaker 1: things is that, like in the beginning of the show,
- 27:12Speaker 1: like Reese Witherspoon is like, I think like a Burnett readead,
- 27:15Speaker 1: like a reddish burnette head like and she kind of
- 27:18Speaker 1: has like a like a more of a Southern Burnett head,
- 27:20Speaker 1: and she has like a kind of Southern accent. And
- 27:22Speaker 1: then by season two she's just blonde and doesn't drops
- 27:24Speaker 1: the accent and she's just Reese Witherspoon again. And then
- 27:27Speaker 1: she pivots to being a lesbian immediately and she's a
- 27:30Speaker 1: lesbian Marles Yes, and then so by season three. The
- 27:35Speaker 1: most amazing thing about this show is not only in
- 27:40Speaker 1: the first episode do they talk about the insurrection, the
- 27:44Speaker 1: war in Ukraine and the pandemic. They talk about the
- 27:47Speaker 1: pandemic every scene.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Still, not every episode, rose every single scene, a character
- 27:54Speaker 2: somehow finds a way to mention the pandemic, as if
- 27:58Speaker 2: it's like prevalent information or as if like if they
- 28:01Speaker 2: didn't mention the pandemic, like we would have been thrown
- 28:03Speaker 2: out of reality or something. And you're like, no, like
- 28:06Speaker 2: we really don't need to be reminded that a pandemic
- 28:09Speaker 2: happened and happened in the in the year of the show,
- 28:12Speaker 2: because I think it's like twenty twenty two in the show.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Anyways. Bradley Jackson aka Reese Witherspoon was at the Capitol
- 28:20Speaker 1: on LA on January sixth with Lady Gaga. She was
- 28:24Speaker 1: there on the ground reporting on it, and when she
- 28:28Speaker 1: goes to space, which is a kind of deal struck
- 28:33Speaker 1: with this Elon Musk figure who's trying to buy the
- 28:35Speaker 1: network and save them from financial ruin. Right after this happens,
- 28:40Speaker 1: the network and the show as a whole becomes full
- 28:45Speaker 1: sci fi thriller because they're because the network is being
- 28:52Speaker 1: attacked by a cyber terrorist who has who takes over
- 28:59Speaker 1: the entire building, is able to like shut off the
- 29:01Speaker 1: lights and stop the elevators and like transmit videos to
- 29:06Speaker 1: like transmit videos to like the network and like text
- 29:11Speaker 1: like text like the employees things like and and like
- 29:14Speaker 1: record their every move because like all of a sudden,
- 29:17Speaker 1: alder phones are bugged and tab It's so funny. It's
- 29:22Speaker 1: such an amazing show to behold. You have to watch it.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I'm literally after this most recent episode, I was like
- 29:30Speaker 1: weekly viewings at mine. I cannot watch the show alone.
- 29:33Speaker 1: That's actually the other thing about it is, like watching
- 29:35Speaker 1: it alone feels crazy. I'm like, I can't, I can't
- 29:38Speaker 1: believe that I'm experiencing this in a silo. That's sort
- 29:42Speaker 1: of how I'm feeling about the new season of American
- 29:44Speaker 1: horror story. I wish I was watching it with people,
- 29:48Speaker 1: because how do you watch it on Hulu? Yeah, okay,
- 29:51Speaker 1: it comes out Fridays on Hulu. Okay, I guess I'm
- 29:53Speaker 1: gonna have to watch It's Kim Kardashian will win an Emmy.
- 29:59Speaker 1: She's the best part of it. Well, she's so good.
- 30:01Speaker 1: She's playing a character named Chavn. I know, well that's
- 30:05Speaker 1: really good. That's a really well named character. And she
- 30:08Speaker 1: says things like did you see the clip that was
- 30:11Speaker 1: going around on Twitter from the most recent episode. She's like,
- 30:14Speaker 1: so the season is about Emma Roberts, noted transphobe, no
- 30:19Speaker 1: transphobe Roberts. She's this like a former CW actress who
- 30:26Speaker 1: just had a role in like I think we're supposed
- 30:29Speaker 1: to imagine is like a like an A twenty four
- 30:32Speaker 1: sort of hereditary esque movie, and she's getting Oscar buzz
- 30:36Speaker 1: for it. And also while she's trying to get pregnant,
- 30:40Speaker 1: she has fertility issues and so it's sort of like
- 30:42Speaker 1: Rosemary's Baby vibes. But Kim Kardashian plays her publicist slash friend, Chavon,
- 30:48Speaker 1: who is like ballbuster, you know, like her first like
- 30:53Speaker 1: her literal first scene, she's like on the phone with someone.
- 30:55Speaker 1: She's like, suck my clip, and she's trying to like
- 31:00Speaker 1: whip Emma Roberts into shape so that she'll get an
- 31:03Speaker 1: Oscar nomination. And in the most recent episode, she's like,
- 31:07Speaker 1: you have to, like, you have to campaign for this Oscar, Like,
- 31:13Speaker 1: do you know how much work has gone into this?
- 31:15Speaker 1: Do you know how many blow jobs were given to
- 31:17Speaker 1: get you this nomination? Yeah, Derek's job might never work again.
- 31:44Speaker 1: You know, like the sort of insane dialogue that we
- 31:48Speaker 1: have come to know and expect from American horror story
- 31:53Speaker 1: paired with like the craziest possible person to be speaking it,
- 31:58Speaker 1: which is m Kardashian, And it's beautiful. I watched that
- 32:05Speaker 1: clip and was like kind of stunned by how truly
- 32:11Speaker 1: watchable it was. But also like, Kim Kardashian's not a
- 32:15Speaker 1: good actress, like she she delivered your face is kind
- 32:19Speaker 1: of like Kimucha girl. You're like, WHOA, No, okay, What
- 32:24Speaker 1: the thing I'm trying to google right now is there
- 32:26Speaker 1: is this famed Oscar campaigner that The New York Times
- 32:29Speaker 1: wrote a profile on like years ago, and she looks
- 32:33Speaker 1: exactly like Chris Jenner. But she's not, and I want
- 32:36Speaker 1: to know who she is. It's just so funny in
- 32:39Speaker 1: that clip because she's like, do you think Jamie Lee
- 32:41Speaker 1: Curtis wanted to talk about being a NEPO baby? No,
- 32:44Speaker 1: but she did it because she wanted an oscar. She
- 32:46Speaker 1: wanted the becking asker. I mean, like that's really real.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I'm just like kind of curious about So can you
- 32:51Speaker 1: tell me actually without spoiling, like how the horror has
- 32:54Speaker 1: started to be folded in? Yeah, So Emma Roberts is
- 32:59Speaker 1: trying to get ignant. She's having fertility issues, and so
- 33:03Speaker 1: she goes to this fertility center to have an embryo implanted,
- 33:10Speaker 1: and things weird things are happening. She thinks she's being stocked.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Someone breaks into her apartment. It's very like Rosemary's Baby vibes,
- 33:20Speaker 1: like she she thinks weird stuff is happening, and everyone
- 33:24Speaker 1: around her is telling her it's not and gaslighting her.
- 33:28Speaker 1: So that's where the horror is coming in. And there's
- 33:32Speaker 1: like some body horror stuff. But there hasn't been that
- 33:36Speaker 1: much of it yet. It hasn't been that spooky. I
- 33:39Speaker 1: mean it's been spooky but not scary, Okay, And I
- 33:43Speaker 1: think there are only maybe two episodes left because this
- 33:47Speaker 1: is what well, this is part one of the season
- 33:50Speaker 1: because the girl the strike, right, but hopefully they'll be
- 33:54Speaker 1: able to resume production soon. Yeah, I'm excited to watch.
- 33:58Speaker 1: It seems like income comparison to all the other American
- 34:01Speaker 1: horror stories. Well I shouldn't say that because I haven't
- 34:03Speaker 1: watched the most recent ones, but if it's like kind
- 34:06Speaker 1: of light horror, I'm like interested to see what I'm
- 34:09Speaker 1: more understated or maybe reserved. It's not understated, it's not
- 34:13Speaker 1: at all as it is. It just is kind of
- 34:16Speaker 1: crazy that they're doing this pregnancy storyline when there have
- 34:21Speaker 1: been so many pregnancy storylines in American horror story. Like
- 34:25Speaker 1: last week when I watched the first episode of the
- 34:29Speaker 1: new season, I then went back and watched the pilot
- 34:33Speaker 1: of the first season Murder House, and literally in that episode,
- 34:39Speaker 1: Connie Britton gets pregnant. Like they have done some kind
- 34:42Speaker 1: of pregnancy thing. Yeah, pretty much every season in America.
- 34:47Speaker 1: In in murder House, I'm pretty sure, an asylum in Coven,
- 34:52Speaker 1: Sarah Paulson's trying to get pregnant in Hotel, like Gaga
- 34:58Speaker 1: is collecting babies. There's always some kind of like hysterical
- 35:02Speaker 1: pregnancy or magical pregnancy is horrific. Yes, it is body horror. Yeah,
- 35:08Speaker 1: but this is like very like directly obviously an homage
- 35:13Speaker 1: to Rosemary's Baby. It's also the first American Horror Story
- 35:16Speaker 1: season that's based on existing ip It was adapted from
- 35:21Speaker 1: a novel that I think maybe hasn't even been released yet.
- 35:24Speaker 1: You know, the girls have been asking for an American
- 35:26Speaker 1: Horror Story episode. I think we should do it. We
- 35:29Speaker 1: should do a Patreon one. I also feel like I've
- 35:32Speaker 1: never seen Rosemary's Baby, never favorite. It's one of my
- 35:36Speaker 1: favorite scary movies. I will never forget watching it for
- 35:38Speaker 1: the first time. Actually, what the bed that night in
- 35:41Speaker 1: my grandparents' house on Long Island. Oh my god. I
- 35:46Speaker 1: was far too young to watch it, But that's how
- 35:49Speaker 1: I consumed a lot of media as a child. I'm
- 35:51Speaker 1: being too young, being too young, by the way, just
- 35:54Speaker 1: for the curiosity of the visions, I found this woman.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Her name is Peggy Siegel. She looks exactly like Chris Jenner.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Look at this, isn't that jarring? She's ashamed she could
- 36:05Speaker 1: be Chris Jenner's Madame Tussau's. Yes, her her whole job
- 36:11Speaker 1: is like running like Oscar campaigns. Like, I mean the
- 36:15Speaker 1: people who do that are like the evilist. Oh yeah,
- 36:20Speaker 1: most jaded, most powerful, most powerful people fish in the
- 36:25Speaker 1: entertainment hartist workers like they know where the bodies are
- 36:29Speaker 1: buried because they buried them completely unstoppable. Do not try
- 36:33Speaker 1: and cross an Oscar pr girl, Like, absolutely, they will
- 36:37Speaker 1: eat you alive. I would never in my life challenge
- 36:41Speaker 1: someone who works in awards in an awards organization. No scary,
- 36:48Speaker 1: definitely not just to like cap this like little culture
- 36:52Speaker 1: catch up. Something else that I did watch recently was Dix,
- 36:55Speaker 1: the musical by Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson. I'm sure
- 36:59Speaker 1: you've already seen, like all of our friends are posting
- 37:00Speaker 1: on this movie or in it or are in it. Yeah,
- 37:04Speaker 1: Bowen's in it. Our good friend Megan Malally is in it.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Mean friend of the pod Meghan Malali and Nathan Lane
- 37:13Speaker 1: are in it. They are amazing, amazing this movie. I
- 37:17Speaker 1: literally so. I watched it in a screening with Josh
- 37:20Speaker 1: and Aaron, and it was such a bizarre experience because
- 37:25Speaker 1: I just from the opening scene through the entire movie
- 37:30Speaker 1: all the way until the end, I just kept asking myself,
- 37:33Speaker 1: how did this movie get made? Like? How? Like it
- 37:37Speaker 1: is such a baffling, baffling, disgusting, like knowingly like like wild,
- 37:48Speaker 1: gross roller coaster of a film that is so kind
- 37:52Speaker 1: of like faggotty and also so like polarizing for the
- 37:58Speaker 1: sake of being polarizing. Was like, how did they? How
- 38:01Speaker 1: did this get made? Is kind of like one of those,
- 38:04Speaker 1: but like different from Bottoms, which is kind of like
- 38:06Speaker 1: another movie where it's like it goes off the rails
- 38:08Speaker 1: and you're like, oh my god, how did this movie
- 38:10Speaker 1: get made? But I think that something I want to know,
- 38:14Speaker 1: like kind of what your relationship is to films like
- 38:19Speaker 1: this one, which I would say, first of all, I
- 38:21Speaker 1: would recommend Dix Musical to anybody who wants to go
- 38:23Speaker 1: see it and anybody that is like ready to be
- 38:26Speaker 1: completely shocked by whatever it is that they see or watch.
- 38:30Speaker 1: But to me, it's in the category of like Barb
- 38:33Speaker 1: and Star, dumb and dumber. It's like Cheech and Chong
- 38:38Speaker 1: Did you ever watch like those movies? It's kind of
- 38:41Speaker 1: like it's kind of like faggot White Chicks? Did you
- 38:43Speaker 1: ever watch White Chicks? Yeah? And which I like, but
- 38:46Speaker 1: those are not like my preference either type of movie
- 38:50Speaker 1: at all, like screwball comedy is that that's what it is,
- 38:53Speaker 1: a screwball comedy. So I actually kind of like I
- 38:57Speaker 1: was on board for a Barbon Star just because it's
- 38:59Speaker 1: like women. Yeah, I don't think Barbin Star is as
- 39:03Speaker 1: good as like gay people on Twitter think it is,
- 39:06Speaker 1: but it's still pretty good. I also don't I think
- 39:09Speaker 1: the movie, much like these other films, are like kind
- 39:12Speaker 1: of hard to follow, and and Dix's The Musical is
- 39:14Speaker 1: another one where it's just like things just kind of
- 39:16Speaker 1: happen and you're like, work, Okay, let's do this, Like
- 39:19Speaker 1: I can't believe I'm watching this. What Megan Malaly does
- 39:24Speaker 1: is so beyond funny in this film, like it's worth
- 39:28Speaker 1: it to watch it just for her. But it's also
- 39:30Speaker 1: amazing to watch Josh and Aaron like get their moment
- 39:32Speaker 1: when they've been like comedic voices behind Like so many
- 39:36Speaker 1: other films and projects, they're like the comedians comedians, like
- 39:39Speaker 1: they're in community with so many of our friends. Yeah,
- 39:43Speaker 1: I'm excited to see what they make next. If this
- 39:45Speaker 1: is like the most this is like the most whack
- 39:47Speaker 1: a doodle like debut movie they could possibly make very
- 39:51Speaker 1: so like, how did they get Megan thee Stallion in
- 39:53Speaker 1: this movie? I'm so like, I'm so she is such
- 39:56Speaker 1: a real one for doing it, and she seemed to
- 39:59Speaker 1: have tons of fun. I loved great, great. I guess
- 40:03Speaker 1: that's where we're going to wrap up this culture chit chat.
- 40:07Speaker 1: See you next week and now a clip from our
- 40:18Speaker 1: Patreon become a patron at patreon dot com slash like
- 40:22Speaker 1: a Virgin for weekly bonus episodes and more. Today, what
- 40:29Speaker 1: we just decided we were going to talk about is Autumn, Autumn, Fall, Fall,
- 40:34Speaker 1: Fall into my ass. Fall is I know, I'm gonna
- 40:45Speaker 1: like like fifth grader who like working on a book
- 40:48Speaker 1: or like giving a presentation on a booker apart, but
- 40:50Speaker 1: didn't read the book. No fall is interesting, No fall
- 40:54Speaker 1: is my favorite season? Is your favorite season? Totally my favorite?
- 40:57Speaker 1: I think you're more of a summer girl. I'm a
- 40:59Speaker 1: summer girl. Yeah, i'd say it is your summer girl
- 41:01Speaker 1: by I am by him Yeah yeah yeah. But I
- 41:07Speaker 1: love Fall. Yeah, I love everything about it. I don't
- 41:11Speaker 1: want to sound like satanist girl Autumn. Yeah, blasphemous girl Autumn.
- 41:18Speaker 1: I think, especially as someone who grew up in a
- 41:22Speaker 1: place that doesn't have seasons. I what I like more
- 41:28Speaker 1: than anything is the noticeable changing of the seasons. And
- 41:32Speaker 1: that's why I love fall, because it's so transitional. In
- 41:37Speaker 1: an effort to veer us away from a conversation where
- 41:39Speaker 1: we discuss the weather. Well, but but that's not the
- 41:43Speaker 1: thing that I love the most about fault Like, the
- 41:45Speaker 1: things that I love about fall are the rituals of
- 41:52Speaker 1: what you were the one who suggested this topic. Okay,
- 42:02Speaker 1: let me I'm not being helpful, you dumb, I'm not
- 42:05Speaker 1: being helpful. Let me. Let me just start with this.
- 42:09Speaker 1: What is a visceral memory of autumn you have as
- 42:14Speaker 1: a child, whether it's something you do with candy apples,
- 42:18Speaker 1: the first time you saw fall leaves, a first autumn
- 42:23Speaker 1: in New York, maybe a a a poignant memory about
- 42:27Speaker 1: your like I'm in New York and it's autumn. I'm
- 42:30Speaker 1: experiencing autumn in New York, a la Ella Fitzgerald and
- 42:32Speaker 1: Louis Armstrong kind of moment. Do you have something where
- 42:35Speaker 1: it's like, oh, like, I'm fully in a Meg Ryan
- 42:38Speaker 1: movie right now. Yeah, being a kid and being in
- 42:42Speaker 1: Central Park, same because we we always used to come
- 42:47Speaker 1: up here. This time of year to visit my grandparents
- 42:53Speaker 1: and my other family on Long Island and that, and
- 42:56Speaker 1: we would always come into the city. And I actually
- 42:59Speaker 1: I do have a very very specific memory of my
- 43:05Speaker 1: my uncle Ira and his wife coming in to visit
- 43:09Speaker 1: them when they lived here, and like going to Central Park,
- 43:15Speaker 1: going to some like place to get pancakes, and just
- 43:21Speaker 1: being totally gagged by New York in fall. The first
- 43:27Speaker 1: time you go to New York you feel like you're
- 43:29Speaker 1: in a movie. Sorry period, Hey to be corny about it,
- 43:31Speaker 1: but like I just I also my on my first
- 43:34Speaker 1: visit to New York, I definitely went to Central Park
- 43:39Speaker 1: and I remember the feeling of being in that park
- 43:43Speaker 1: and ex climbing one of those huge rocks, climbing on
- 43:46Speaker 1: the huge rocks, but also rose going to see the
- 43:50Speaker 1: Balto statue. I made pilgrimage to go and see it
- 43:54Speaker 1: because I knew it was there, but it's like you
- 43:56Speaker 1: kind of have to like get go on a map
- 43:58Speaker 1: and like find it. I'm more into the Alice in
- 44:01Speaker 1: Wonderland statue, Okay myself, that's I love that. But you know,
- 44:05Speaker 1: if I haven't already said it on the record, Balto
- 44:08Speaker 1: is hot. Balto is hot. He has Kevin Bacon's voice.
- 44:12Speaker 1: This is something that queer and trance people know to
- 44:15Speaker 1: be true. Were you ever sexually attracted to Balto? No? Okay,
- 44:20Speaker 1: I mean I've been sexually attracted than a sexually attracted
- 44:24Speaker 1: to other animated animal characters. Okay, let's let's follow that
- 44:30Speaker 1: which ones well? Okay, I mean, obviously the tiger from
- 44:33Speaker 1: Zutopia a hundred like that is definitely a humanoid, like
- 44:38Speaker 1: an anthropomori, like making furries, like it's helping furries discover
- 44:44Speaker 1: themselves as kids. I think Tony the Tiger, duh, Tony
- 44:52Speaker 1: the Tiger could get it destroy me. Yeah. Old Simba
- 45:00Speaker 1: middle transition Simba yeah, like and move and Mufasa yea yeah,
- 45:07Speaker 1: like right after Nala. Oh my god, I just saw
- 45:10Speaker 1: an amazing meme about the look that Nala gives Simba
- 45:13Speaker 1: after he like tumbles on top of her when they're
- 45:16Speaker 1: wrestling in the grass and she looks at him like
- 45:18Speaker 1: you're trying to fuck. Do you remember that scene? Oh
- 45:22Speaker 1: my god, that between these crazy the Lion King's not
- 45:26Speaker 1: really my don't that's not my favorite Disney movie. I
- 45:30Speaker 1: was firmly in the Princess camp. Okay, so the Lion
- 45:34Speaker 1: King really didn't do it for were there any other
- 45:36Speaker 1: animated dogs or or tigress or lions that you found attractive?
- 45:41Speaker 1: Robin Hood perhaps, and the Disney's Robin Hood was was
- 45:44Speaker 1: is another one that although I did love that movie,
- 45:48Speaker 1: love that movie when I was a kid, You're so weird. Yeah,
- 45:53Speaker 1: I didn't think about him like that? What I didn't
- 45:57Speaker 1: think about him like that? Once I again with this
- 46:00Speaker 1: like moral purity. Okay, other animated animals have been attracted
- 46:06Speaker 1: to I don't know, yeah, okay, well I was just curious.
- 46:09Speaker 1: I think, what about you? Well, I've already named like okay, yeah,
- 46:14Speaker 1: Robin was definitely one of them. Tony the Tiger is
- 46:19Speaker 1: definitely kind of in that category. I think a lot.
- 46:25Speaker 1: This isn't for me, but there are many many queer
- 46:30Speaker 1: people that will understand when I name that spirit Stallion
- 46:35Speaker 1: of the Cimarron. It was not to me, but to
- 46:39Speaker 1: others too many in our community. Sure it was a
- 46:43Speaker 1: hot horse some I'm a horse girl, but not like
- 46:47Speaker 1: I want to fuck the horses. Yeah, unless it's like
- 46:50Speaker 1: the horse from Daniel Radcliffe's Equis, Well, he doesn't. We've
- 46:56Speaker 1: had this argument before. He does it he gets kills
- 47:00Speaker 1: the horse. Horse, he blinds the horses. He blinds horses,
- 47:04Speaker 1: does not the horses after he bottoms. For that, he
- 47:08Speaker 1: has sex in the stable, and he feels bad that
- 47:12Speaker 1: the horses witnessed it, so he blinds them all right,
