- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Mark Simone Show on seven ten.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Wi Ben from Mark Today, Here's Ken Rosatto and very
- 0:08Speaker 2: good to be here on your Friday morning.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Well.
- 0:11Speaker 2: He is a healthy living expert who has worked with
- 0:14Speaker 2: leaders in medical aesthetics, and he hosts the Optimized Outcomes
- 0:18Speaker 2: with Paul Fulford podcast, which talks about health and longevity.
- 0:21Speaker 2: We say good morning to you, Paul Fulford.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Good morning, how you doing good?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Good to be good to have you on. I should say,
- 0:28Speaker 2: I just want to clarify you sound like you're in
- 0:30Speaker 2: studio because we have you on zoom, so it sounds
- 0:32Speaker 2: like you're literally sitting next to me.
- 0:34Speaker 1: So clear.
- 0:35Speaker 2: For years, Paul, so many people have suffered with obesity
- 0:37Speaker 2: and all the physical breakdown that comes with it. I
- 0:39Speaker 2: used to weigh nearly four hundred pounds years ago, and
- 0:42Speaker 2: I had gastric bypass. I did fenn Fenn got down
- 0:46Speaker 2: each time I got down a certain amount, but never
- 0:49Speaker 2: got all the way until the weight loss drugs right
- 0:53Speaker 2: and for the last thirty pounds because I needed to
- 0:55Speaker 2: stabilize blood sugar, I was put on ozepik. But talk
- 0:58Speaker 2: about how too many people are using it who should
- 1:01Speaker 2: not be, and how it wastes muscle as well.
- 1:05Speaker 1: That's a that's a great question.
- 1:06Speaker 3: And you know it's termed like o zempic body right,
- 1:10Speaker 3: and in New York, you don't sugarcoat anything. So let's
- 1:13Speaker 3: unpack it, right, Just imagine scrolling Instagram, every celebrity looks
- 1:17Speaker 3: like they accidentally walk through the dryer on high heat. It's,
- 1:21Speaker 3: you know, it's shrinking faster than a Yankees playoff lead
- 1:24Speaker 3: and sorry you blink and boom jaw lines are sharper,
- 1:29Speaker 3: arms get smaller, faces get hollower, right, and it's it's
- 1:33Speaker 3: in celebrity, in in in the you know, the Hollywood culture.
- 1:36Speaker 3: It's it's almost a disappearing act. And I'm not body shaming, right,
- 1:39Speaker 3: It's just me saying, why does everybody, you know, these
- 1:42Speaker 3: people in Hollywood look like they're on a diet of
- 1:45Speaker 3: almond their almond milk and their right. It's it's it's
- 1:49Speaker 3: just it's one of those things where what they do
- 1:52Speaker 3: and what the glp ones do, which are the Ozepics
- 1:56Speaker 3: and Wagovi's of the world, is they put you on
- 1:59Speaker 3: a CLOrk deficit, which makes it so that you consume
- 2:02Speaker 3: your fat stores and if you experience rapid weight loss.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Then your body is looking for fuel source, so it
- 2:11Speaker 3: starts to go and basically use your muscle as a
- 2:14Speaker 3: fuel source. So when you have rapid weight loss and
- 2:16Speaker 3: it's not managed and other interventions are done, you're going
- 2:20Speaker 3: to lose muscle, not just fat.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So let me clarify for everybody we're talking. And by
- 2:23Speaker 2: the way, the numbers are anywhere from twenty five to
- 2:25Speaker 2: forty percent of total weight loss could be muscle, and
- 2:29Speaker 2: that's a lot. And by the way, when we say muscle,
- 2:31Speaker 2: everybody thinks biceps. Muscle is heart as well. Muscle could
- 2:35Speaker 2: be liver, muscle could be your organs. So you know,
- 2:38Speaker 2: you have to be very careful when it comes to
- 2:40Speaker 2: not doing this the right way. My doctor had a
- 2:43Speaker 2: talk with me about this and he said, you're going
- 2:45Speaker 2: to consume this much protein each day if we're on this,
- 2:48Speaker 2: And by the way, the main reason was because my
- 2:50Speaker 2: blood sugar levels were ride at the pre diabetic level.
- 2:53Speaker 2: That's why, and I'm still on the baby dose point
- 2:55Speaker 2: two five. But he said, you're going to consume one
- 2:58Speaker 2: to one and a half gram of protein per pound
- 3:01Speaker 2: of body weight. You're going to do resistance exercises that
- 3:05Speaker 2: will help preserve your muscle and you're going to drink lots.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Of fluids every day. That's what I did.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Now in spite of that, I still look a little
- 3:13Speaker 2: bit gaunt at times. I had another doctor friend of
- 3:16Speaker 2: mine save me and say, if your doctor still has
- 3:18Speaker 2: you want to take it off. Unfortunately, it's because of
- 3:20Speaker 2: blood sugar. It's not because of weight loss. But too
- 3:23Speaker 2: many people say I need to lose five pounds after
- 3:25Speaker 2: the holidays, give me a prescription. That's not what you
- 3:28Speaker 2: want to.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Do well, And that's and again that was the original
- 3:32Speaker 3: intention behind these medications, right, like when you look at
- 3:35Speaker 3: what a lot of things are FDA cleared for in
- 3:39Speaker 3: use in practicality, they're not always prescribed for what they're
- 3:43Speaker 3: cleared for, and you get ancillary and side effect benefits
- 3:48Speaker 3: that can happen. And that was what was noticed. For
- 3:51Speaker 3: your diabetic patient. Are people that need blood sugar like yourself,
- 3:55Speaker 3: They were experiencing this weight loss. And I think the
- 3:58Speaker 3: biggest problem is I've got family members that before these drugs,
- 4:03Speaker 3: right would gain and lose the same one hundred and
- 4:05Speaker 3: fifty pounds their whole life as long as I can remember,
- 4:08Speaker 3: And each time they went off the strict regimen they
- 4:11Speaker 3: were on and went back to the way they were
- 4:13Speaker 3: doing things, they got fat or faster because they had
- 4:15Speaker 3: less muscle. Right, So what your doctor was telling you
- 4:19Speaker 3: is absolutely perfect advice.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I mean, you have to strength.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Train, you want to eat one to one and a
- 4:26Speaker 3: half grams of protein for your ideal body weight. It's
- 4:29Speaker 3: also you kind of look at it from a standpoint
- 4:31Speaker 3: you want to have a good portion of healthy fats
- 4:35Speaker 3: and you want to eat nutrient dense foods to get
- 4:39Speaker 3: your carbs as well.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Absolutely, everybody. This is Paul Fulford on with us right now.
- 4:43Speaker 2: He is a healthy living expert. He's worked with leaders
- 4:46Speaker 2: in medical aesthetics and he hosts the Optimized Outcomes with
- 4:50Speaker 2: Paul Fulford podcast seven to ten WR, the Voice of
- 4:53Speaker 2: New York. This is the Marx Simoncio, Ken Risotto Win
- 4:55Speaker 2: from Mark Today, also Paul. For decades, parents have always
- 4:58Speaker 2: said clean your place, and then, of course fifty years
- 5:01Speaker 2: ago we used to hear there are children starving and
- 5:03Speaker 2: insert your country here, right, and that sort of ingrained
- 5:07Speaker 2: in us that you got to finish everything on your plate.
- 5:09Speaker 2: But that is the worst thing you could do to children.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Write well, yes, you know right.
- 5:15Speaker 3: You know, I would say that it's Porsche control just
- 5:19Speaker 3: like anything else. Right, if you put it on their plate,
- 5:21Speaker 3: just make sure it's the right portion. And again like
- 5:25Speaker 3: we still want to you know, I have I have
- 5:27Speaker 3: a little niece, and it's almost like bribing her to
- 5:30Speaker 3: get to eat the protein. She just wants to eat
- 5:32Speaker 3: the mac and cheese. Right, So if you put it
- 5:35Speaker 3: on the plate, they have to finish it. But do
- 5:37Speaker 3: it in the right portions, you know, do it in
- 5:39Speaker 3: the like ninety grams of proteins, thirty grams of healthy fats,
- 5:43Speaker 3: and fifty grams of healthy carbs. Right, Just do it
- 5:45Speaker 3: in the right portions and say they don't get you know,
- 5:48Speaker 3: whatever that treat is that we have to bribe them
- 5:50Speaker 3: with unless they finish their plate.
- 5:53Speaker 2: That's a good idea, say that you got to play
- 5:54Speaker 2: the game with kids, not being a dad. I only
- 5:57Speaker 2: know from the from having been a kid, that's it.
- 6:01Speaker 3: But well you knows, I think too when you look
- 6:03Speaker 3: at this from a psychological standpoint in these kids looking
- 6:07Speaker 3: at their idols, right, that's just the part that hits hard,
- 6:10Speaker 3: you know, And there's new research that shows, you know,
- 6:13Speaker 3: children are developing body image issues before they lose their
- 6:16Speaker 3: baby teeth, you know. And and the thing is in
- 6:19Speaker 3: New York kids are more aware, they grow up faster,
- 6:22Speaker 3: They see everything, They absorb culture like a sponge on
- 6:25Speaker 3: the f train floor.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:26Speaker 3: It's it's one of those things that you know, it's
- 6:30Speaker 3: it's a dangerous thing, and it's it's one of those
- 6:34Speaker 3: things kids should be learning multiplication not macros.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I remember we're talking thirty five forty years ago, Paul
- 6:42Speaker 2: I saw a TV show. It was a news a
- 6:45Speaker 2: news show. I won't mention which of the which of
- 6:47Speaker 2: the brands it was, but where they took a series
- 6:50Speaker 2: of babies, maybe a year old, and they or two
- 6:54Speaker 2: between one and two, and they put them in a
- 6:55Speaker 2: room and they showed them pictures, and they showed pictures
- 6:59Speaker 2: of people of every different race and ethnicity, and then
- 7:02Speaker 2: they showed those same races and ethnicities as thin and
- 7:06Speaker 2: as obese, and in every single case, the children reacted
- 7:12Speaker 2: to obese people in a negative way. Now, there could
- 7:16Speaker 2: have been conditioning by that point, because the children are
- 7:18Speaker 2: one to two years old. There's already conditioning, of course,
- 7:21Speaker 2: but it was interesting to see that race did not
- 7:24Speaker 2: impact them anyway, whether it was white Black, whatever, Asian, whatever.
- 7:29Speaker 2: It was obesity that impacted them, So you have to
- 7:33Speaker 2: wonder what that's about. Is it something genetic, what is it?
- 7:37Speaker 2: But whatever, in our minds, we tend to gravitate right
- 7:40Speaker 2: towards somebody who appears whatever our definition of healthy is,
- 7:44Speaker 2: whether it be for reproductive reasons or whatever. But there
- 7:47Speaker 2: is a healthy way to go about it and then
- 7:49Speaker 2: an unhealthy way. I think America is obsessed with the unhealthy.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and you're actually right, there are psychological cues that
- 7:55Speaker 3: are ingrained in us that.
- 7:59Speaker 1: You realize.
- 8:00Speaker 3: You see these things in its subconscious right, where stronger
- 8:05Speaker 3: jawline typically denotes more power. And when you look at
- 8:11Speaker 3: a woman versus a man in a traditional sense, you know,
- 8:14Speaker 3: an hourglass shape signifies beauty, a V shape for a
- 8:18Speaker 3: man signifies you know, strength and power. Right, So there
- 8:21Speaker 3: are these subconscious cues that our body looks at things
- 8:25Speaker 3: to being proportionate in how our brain process is information
- 8:30Speaker 3: that you can see that even at a young age,
- 8:33Speaker 3: like you're bringing up in that study, there are things
- 8:36Speaker 3: that are ingrained and we are sort of our environment, right,
- 8:41Speaker 3: Like certain people tend to have biases based on what
- 8:45Speaker 3: they're around as.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Well, absolutely. Well.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Listen, we want to get a website for more info. Paul,
- 8:50Speaker 2: what's your website?
- 8:51Speaker 3: So the the vice manufacturer I work for is Sinoshoreleutronic
- 8:58Speaker 3: dot com and for all things Optimize Outcomes, which the
- 9:04Speaker 3: podcast discussed all things in a way that are what
- 9:09Speaker 3: I'm trying to coin as biofunctional aesthetics, which is bio
- 9:13Speaker 3: biology by biohiking, biology, functional medicine and medical aesthetics.
- 9:17Speaker 1: They're all blending together now.
- 9:19Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, we can take you know, we can
- 9:21Speaker 3: take seven to ten years off somebody's face, but if
- 9:23Speaker 3: they're only going to three live three more, what's the point, right?
- 9:25Speaker 1: You know? So people want anti aging as much as longevity.
- 9:29Speaker 3: And it's and it's very much you know, in the
- 9:32Speaker 3: in the public eye. The podcast is Optimize Outcomes and
- 9:37Speaker 3: that's on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Very good Healthy Living Expert podcast host Paul Fulford. Great
- 9:46Speaker 2: to have you on. We've got to have you on again.

- 10:00Speaker 2: one one hundred three two one zero seven ten for
