- 0:33Speaker 1: Okay. So I'm probably about to win the award for
- 0:36Speaker 1: the worst mom on the planet, but I have a
- 0:40Speaker 1: secret and I haven't told my husband and I don't
- 0:43Speaker 1: plan on telling him. I got my daughter a fake ID.
- 0:49Speaker 3: What?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Oh, whoa. You got your daughter a fake ID.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Yep. I am that mom. And before everyone starts judging me, just,
- 0:58Speaker 1: just hear me out. Okay.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:00Speaker 1: My daughter's in college and she's honestly an amazing kid.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Like she's incredibly responsible. She makes good grades. She tells
- 1:07Speaker 1: me everything. Um, and you know, we've always had that
- 1:12Speaker 1: kind of a relationship. But the problem is she's younger
- 1:15Speaker 1: than most of her friends and they're all turning 21,
- 1:19Speaker 1: you know, and going out to the bars and the
- 1:22Speaker 1: clubs and she's constantly getting left out. And, you know,
- 1:28Speaker 1: she gets really upset about it. And honestly, like that,
- 1:31Speaker 1: it just made me feel terrible for her. So like
- 1:34Speaker 1: months and months she was begging me and then I
- 1:36Speaker 1: finally caved and I mean, I figure if she's going
- 1:39Speaker 1: to get a fake ID, I'd rather she come to
- 1:42Speaker 1: me than some sketchy person she meets at college.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Okay. So you get her a fake ID. That is
- 1:50Speaker 2: kind of a, you know, I don't know. It's a
- 1:52Speaker 2: slippery slope. Yeah. Definitely a slippery slope. Could be dangerous. Okay.
- 1:56Speaker 2: It works. She begged till she got it. Interesting.
- 1:59Speaker 1: That is.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Well.
- 2:02Speaker 1: But I guess the bigger secret or whatever is that
- 2:06Speaker 1: my husband has absolutely no idea that I did this.
- 2:10Speaker 1: And he's the type that he would lose his mind.
- 2:14Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you right now, I would be
- 2:16Speaker 3: the husband that lost their mind. Yeah. I'm going to
- 2:19Speaker 3: be honest because, first of all, I have a son.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I don't have a daughter. If I had a daughter,
- 2:22Speaker 3: I feel like I'd be the most protective, psycho, lunatic
- 2:26Speaker 3: dad on the planet.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Right. Driving her to her classes.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah. I'd probably send a security detail with her. because
- 2:33Speaker 3: I just, I don't know. I feel like I would,
- 2:35Speaker 3: but so he doesn't know. Wow.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yeah. And he's actually like, he's always been that way,
- 2:40Speaker 1: like that ridiculously overprotective of our daughter. And like, what
- 2:45Speaker 1: makes me so mad is that when we had, like,
- 2:48Speaker 1: we have an older son and he's already graduated college.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And when he was that age, my husband pretty much
- 2:55Speaker 1: let him do whatever the heck he wanted.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 1: You know, but because she's our little girl, suddenly there
- 3:02Speaker 1: are all these like different rules and this double standard
- 3:06Speaker 1: and Honestly, I think his overprotectedness does more harm than good.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Do you think so? Now, but is there a reason
- 3:14Speaker 3: for that? Is there a reason for, you know, the
- 3:17Speaker 3: way we protect daughters more than sons? And I and
- 3:20Speaker 3: I just say that because I just said some areas
- 3:22Speaker 3: there should be. Yeah, that's what I feel like. I
- 3:24Speaker 3: feel like that's I don't know. Maybe I'm just an
- 3:26Speaker 3: overprotective dad. Maybe that's the case. But you think it's
- 3:29Speaker 3: a double standard?
- 3:30Speaker 1: I do.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And also, like, listen, I didn't just hand her the
- 3:34Speaker 1: idea and tell her, like, go party. You know, we
- 3:36Speaker 1: had a very serious conversation about being responsible. I told
- 3:41Speaker 1: her absolutely no getting drunk, no driving after drinking, you know,
- 3:45Speaker 1: no doing anything stupid. And she's such a good kid.
- 3:49Speaker 1: You know, this is really it was really about being
- 3:51Speaker 1: included with her friends, like not going crazy, you know,
- 3:54Speaker 1: because she's really not that she's not that type. I
- 3:57Speaker 1: think that's the thing, too. It's like, you know, your kids.
- 3:59Speaker 2: You do know your kid. And I think you're right.
- 4:01Speaker 3: I know people and parents who let their kids drink
- 4:04Speaker 3: at home when they're underage. They're like, I'd rather him
- 4:07Speaker 3: and his friends do it here than, you know, and
- 4:09Speaker 3: that's another hot take, like whether that's right or wrong. Right.
- 4:12Speaker 2: But at least you're there. The fake ID.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Who knows?
- 4:14Speaker 2: I mean, well, who knows where she's going? And there's
- 4:17Speaker 2: a thing, you know, your kid.
- 4:19Speaker 3: There's also another side to this that, you know, you
- 4:21Speaker 3: always think your kids are close to you. But I
- 4:24Speaker 3: remember when I was a kid, I wondered to myself, well,
- 4:26Speaker 3: I was pretty open with my mom. But was I
- 4:28Speaker 3: open about everything? No.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I just also feel like you got to be on
- 4:33Speaker 3: the same team as your husband. If he finds out
- 4:35Speaker 3: and then.
- 4:36Speaker 1: This blows up, you're both keeping a secret from him.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I mean, I know what I did was technically wrong
- 4:41Speaker 1: and I know keeping something from this, like from my
- 4:44Speaker 1: husband isn't exactly great for a marriage. Um, but I
- 4:48Speaker 1: also feel like I'm protecting my relationship with my daughter.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And giving her a little freedom that her father refused
- 4:55Speaker 1: to give her. And honestly, I don't regret doing it,
- 4:59Speaker 1: you know? So I don't know. That's my secret. I
- 5:03Speaker 1: got my underage daughter, fake ID, hiding it from my husband.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And I actually think that I'm being a good mom.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Mom of the year. Best fake ID. Is it a
- 5:12Speaker 2: good fake ID? No, I'm just kidding.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Right. Well, hey, at least you're honest. And you do,
- 5:17Speaker 3: I think, you know, your parents do know you best.
- 5:19Speaker 3: So you know how... She's going to act. And I
- 5:23Speaker 3: hope that she's okay. But I don't know if I'd
- 5:25Speaker 3: care if my daughter was a little bit younger and
- 5:27Speaker 3: left out. Right.
- 5:28Speaker 2: That's what I'm wondering. Could she find friends her own age? Yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 2: so she don't grow up too fast. But I was
- 5:32Speaker 2: the young one in the group, too.
- 5:33Speaker 1: No, but they're in the same grade. You know, it's
- 5:36Speaker 1: not like they're not the same age.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Yeah, like I graduated when I was 17. Same. Yeah,
- 5:41Speaker 2: so I graduated young. Right. Well, I'm going to see
- 5:43Speaker 2: what people think. People are already calling. I'm curious. I'm
- 5:45Speaker 2: going to see what people think about whether they think
- 5:47Speaker 2: it's right or wrong.
- 5:48Speaker 3: I mean, you know, in Texas, I think actually if
- 5:50Speaker 3: someone's underage, I think the kid can drink with you
- 5:52Speaker 3: at a restaurant.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Oh.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Yeah, they can. They can drink with their parents. Isn't
- 5:55Speaker 2: that kind of weird?
- 5:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 1: That is weird.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It's kind of bizarre.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Wow.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Anyway, let's see what people think. But thank you for
- 6:01Speaker 2: your secret and for confessing.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Thanks, guys.
