- 0:06Speaker 1: This is America with Rich Valdez, powered by politiweek.com.
- 0:11Speaker 2: And Rich Valdez is with us, former Christie administration official.
- 0:13Speaker 1: You work for Chris Christie, you've been in politics, a
- 0:15Speaker 1: lot of public service stuff.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Rich Valdez, columnist now with the Washington Times.
- 0:19Speaker 4: This is America.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Richie V, you're on the air with the nation.
- 0:22Speaker 5: This is America.
- 0:24Speaker 1: With your host, Rich Valdez.
- 0:28Speaker 3: What's up, America?
- 0:29Speaker 6: I am Rich Valdez, Valdez with an S, at Rich
- 0:31Speaker 6: Valdez on all of the social media of your liberty-loving
- 0:34Speaker 6: Latino amigos 17 blocks away from Madison Square Garden right
- 0:37Speaker 6: here in Times Square, New York City.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Blessed and honored to be here with each and every
- 0:42Speaker 3: one of you, my wonderful audience, this solemn Friday night
- 0:45Speaker 3: edition of This Is America, which, of course, is our
- 0:49Speaker 3: late-night national town hall conversation. And you want to share
- 0:52Speaker 3: your opinion, know what to do, give me.
- 0:53Speaker 4: A call, 877-VALDEZ-1.
- 0:54Speaker 3: That's 877- 825-3371 and share your thoughts. We're talking about 9-11.
- 1:03Speaker 3: It is the 25th anniversary of 9-11. And if you
- 1:06Speaker 3: want to give me a call, we will air your
- 1:08Speaker 3: thoughts on our Open Phone America segment at the end
- 1:11Speaker 3: of the show. And I want to start with the
- 1:15Speaker 3: weight of this day, September 11th, 2026, the 25th anniversary
- 1:21Speaker 3: of the terrorist attacks that changed many, many things. And familia, look,
- 1:27Speaker 3: I remember being a young buck in Brooklyn, New York,
- 1:30Speaker 3: moved to Hudson County in Jersey and cutting hair in
- 1:34Speaker 3: the barbershop during that time. And, you know, I had
- 1:38Speaker 3: just started a corporate job, sold my barbershop, gotten into
- 1:41Speaker 3: a cell phone place and eventually took a job working
- 1:45Speaker 3: for one of the major cell phone carriers, Fortune 10
- 1:49Speaker 3: company at the time, probably still is. And I remember
- 1:53Speaker 3: how astounded I was by the 9-11 attacks. And for
- 1:59Speaker 3: those of you who've listened to this show for a
- 2:00Speaker 3: long time, you've heard my story. If you want to
- 2:02Speaker 3: hear it again, maybe I'll save it for the end,
- 2:04Speaker 3: for that last segment as well. But, you know, one
- 2:08Speaker 3: minute that morning it was, you know, pásame el cafecito, right?
- 2:12Speaker 3: Pass me the coffee. The next minute it's chaos, right?
- 2:18Speaker 3: People wondering, do we still have our liberty here? We
- 2:22Speaker 3: had come of age in many ways knowing America wasn't perfect,
- 2:25Speaker 3: but we didn't know that we would be subject to
- 2:28Speaker 3: Pearl Harbor-like attacks in this century. But that's exactly what happened.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And from the rubble of those towers, many a hero emerged.
- 2:38Speaker 3: It was a very, very just impactful time, I can say.
- 2:45Speaker 3: And I've been privileged over the years to sit down
- 2:48Speaker 3: with some of the giants who lived through that history.
- 2:51Speaker 3: America's Mayor Rudy Giuliani has joined me more than once
- 2:54Speaker 3: on this program, sharing the leadership that pulled New York
- 2:57Speaker 3: City through the smoke and the tears. Police officer from
- 3:02Speaker 3: the Port Authority Police Department, Will Jimeno, God bless him.
- 3:06Speaker 3: He came on to recount those harrowing hours where he
- 3:09Speaker 3: was trapped under the rubble in the World Trade Center
- 3:12Speaker 3: lobby where it meets the train station. You know, a
- 3:15Speaker 3: story of survival and faith that still gives me chills.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And these conversations aren't just interviews. They're living history. They're
- 3:23Speaker 3: reminders that ordinary Americans did extraordinary things in the most
- 3:31Speaker 3: dangerous of circumstances. Well, tonight we continue that tradition. We
- 3:36Speaker 3: welcome New York City Councilwoman Vicky Palladino. She'll be joining
- 3:39Speaker 3: us live from Queens. She's making headlines all week, honestly,
- 3:43Speaker 3: for standing tall and demanding that Mayor Zoran Mamdani stay
- 3:48Speaker 3: away from the city's official 9-11 memorial service. You may
- 3:53Speaker 3: have heard this clip of her that went viral. Check
- 3:56Speaker 3: this out.
- 3:57Speaker 7: I'm not asking politely for the mayor not to come
- 4:01Speaker 7: to 9-11, to that ceremony. I am asking, I am
- 4:06Speaker 7: demanding that he not show his face at that sacred ground.
- 4:11Speaker 7: He does not belong there. When you associate yourself with
- 4:16Speaker 7: the likes of Hassan Paika... And you have as your
- 4:20Speaker 7: chief counselor right here in this building, Rasim Qasim, who
- 4:27Speaker 7: was handed a sacred pen yesterday. Very cryptic.
- 4:32Speaker 3: And Councilwoman Palladino, she laid it out plainly right there.
- 4:36Speaker 3: This day is a sacred day. It's not a photo op.
- 4:38Speaker 3: It's not for politics. And she's not stopping there. Councilwoman
- 4:41Speaker 3: Palladino will be giving us the scoop on the absolute
- 4:45Speaker 3: all-out crazy spectacle of AOC. And Mayor Mamdani laughing, yes, laughing,
- 4:52Speaker 3: while the names of the victims were being read. Listen
- 4:55Speaker 3: to this.
- 4:57Speaker 5: Angela Reed Kite.
- 4:59Speaker 7: Andrew LaCourte. Carol Ann LaPlante. Jeffrey G.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Latouche.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Catherine L.
- 5:08Speaker 7: Labore. Amarneth Latchman.
- 5:12Speaker 8: Ganesh K. Ladkut.
- 5:15Speaker 7: James Patrick Ladley. Joseph A.
- 5:20Speaker 8: LaFalse.
- 5:21Speaker 7: Jeanette Louise LaFawn Menehino. David James LaForge. And my father,
- 5:30Speaker 7: police officer Ramon Suarez. Dad, we miss you. We love you.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I hope I'm making you proud. Just imagine, these are
- 5:42Speaker 3: the family members. acknowledging their names 25 years later. And
- 5:49Speaker 3: you've got the mayor of the city of New York,
- 5:50Speaker 3: a congressman representing the 13th congressional district, laughing it up,
- 5:57Speaker 3: having a grand old time. Now listen, I understand that
- 6:01Speaker 3: this might be a moment taken out of context. I
- 6:04Speaker 3: understand that they probably were not trying to be malicious.
- 6:08Speaker 3: My critique here is on, you are professionals. You live
- 6:14Speaker 3: in front of a camera. You should know better. There
- 6:18Speaker 3: is no room for that. There is no room for that.
- 6:24Speaker 3: They panned that whole room. You saw the face of
- 6:26Speaker 3: Barack Obama. You saw the face of Bill Clinton. You
- 6:30Speaker 3: saw the face of George W. Bush. You saw the
- 6:33Speaker 3: face of Joe Biden. The face of Rudy Giuliani. Every
- 6:39Speaker 3: single one of these statesmen were there with their wives
- 6:43Speaker 3: and And they all had a very solemn, serious face on.
- 6:50Speaker 3: There's no excuse to be chumming it up, palling around,
- 6:54Speaker 3: laughing it up the way AOC and Zoran Mandani were
- 6:57Speaker 3: doing it. I mean, that's just my opinion. And we'll
- 7:00Speaker 3: get into that with Councilwoman Vicky Palladino and get her thoughts.
- 7:03Speaker 3: She's a public official. She's a New York City Councilwoman.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I'd love to know if they've done this type of
- 7:08Speaker 3: thing to her, taking her out of context and whatnot.
- 7:11Speaker 3: And again, I don't know if it was out of context.
- 7:12Speaker 3: I don't think they were laughing at the dead. I
- 7:14Speaker 3: think they were uncouth, laughing at something amongst themselves. Yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 3: great to see you too. Sucks meeting here again, blah, blah,
- 7:22Speaker 3: you know, whatever. But you don't put that face on.
- 7:24Speaker 3: You don't give that energy out when people are remembering
- 7:27Speaker 3: the day that the towers got hit, right? And this
- 7:31Speaker 3: was a big deal. It was something, again, like I
- 7:34Speaker 3: remember it like yesterday. People lost a lot. You hear that?
- 7:46Speaker 3: Listen to this. That's as the planes hit.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I'm over the heading footage.
- 8:00Speaker 3: That's the second.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Plane.
- 8:04Speaker 3: People freaking out. Debris falling to the floor. Watching planes
- 8:08Speaker 3: fly into buildings. Absolute chaos. You don't think we could keep.
- 8:17Speaker 1: A straight face for just a little bit?
- 8:25Speaker 3: Nobody wants to relive this day. But everybody wants to
- 8:29Speaker 3: commemorate it.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Why?
- 8:31Speaker 3: Because you have to. We have to acknowledge those who
- 8:35Speaker 3: have fallen to this. We have to remember what we've
- 8:37Speaker 3: gone through. And While the names of the victims are
- 8:42Speaker 3: being read and you've got family members doubled over weeping
- 8:46Speaker 3: on those reflecting pools, weeping on the signs where their
- 8:51Speaker 3: names are engraved, you've got these two giggling like a
- 8:53Speaker 3: pair of schoolgirls at lunch. Disrespect doesn't even begin to
- 8:57Speaker 3: cover what they've done, in my opinion. And a lot
- 8:59Speaker 3: of people are calling for both of them to resign.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I doubt anything will happen, but just interesting to note, right?
- 9:04Speaker 3: That's video that's not going to play well for them
- 9:06Speaker 3: come re-election time. But wait, there's more. Councilwoman Vicky Palladino,
- 9:11Speaker 3: she's also going to weigh in on President Trump's powerful
- 9:13Speaker 3: speech at the RNC midterm convention in Dallas, Texas. And
- 9:18Speaker 3: speaking of that, I've got a clip on El Trompito
- 9:21Speaker 3: at the RNC, and I think it's worth listening to.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Check this out.
- 9:26Speaker 2: On election night, we're going to prove that America does
- 9:30Speaker 2: not belong to those who hate it.
- 9:32Speaker 8: America belongs to those who love it.
- 9:53Speaker 3: So we got Councilwoman Palladino who will be weighing in
- 9:56Speaker 3: on President Trump's speech, like I mentioned, and also giving
- 9:59Speaker 3: us her thoughts. thoughts on the upcoming midterm elections in
- 10:05Speaker 3: addition to what she has to say about this 9-11
- 10:12Speaker 3: 25th anniversary. I also have a clip of President Trump
- 10:16Speaker 3: during 9-11 back in the days that I want to
- 10:19Speaker 3: play for you because I think It's important to remember
- 10:22Speaker 3: what El Trompito was doing back then. All right, check
- 10:26Speaker 3: this one out.
- 10:31Speaker 8: I've never seen anything like it.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I've seen two huge 110-story buildings that are reduced to rubble,
- 10:37Speaker 2: thousands and thousands of lives. I just got to see
- 10:40Speaker 2: something that I've never seen before. I have hundreds of
- 10:43Speaker 2: men inside working right now, and we're bringing down another
- 10:45Speaker 2: 125 in a little while, and They've never done work
- 10:49Speaker 2: like this before. And they're hardworking people, but they've never
- 10:51Speaker 2: seen anything like it. And they've never done work like
- 10:55Speaker 2: this before.
- 10:55Speaker 8: It's terrible.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Tell me what it's like at Ground Zero. Tell me
- 10:58Speaker 5: about the workers that you saw and what they're doing there.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Well, not only is it devastation, but it's very dangerous
- 11:04Speaker 2: because every few minutes a whistle would go off and
- 11:06Speaker 2: everybody would just run because you have all the buildings
- 11:08Speaker 2: around it, which are in such a weakened state that
- 11:11Speaker 2: people just don't know. And so they just have to
- 11:14Speaker 2: take off. And then they come back and they're working
- 11:16Speaker 2: under 50-story buildings that you don't know if they're going
- 11:19Speaker 2: to fall down. So it's a terrible thing for the workers,
- 11:22Speaker 2: and it's a terrible thing.
- 11:23Speaker 8: For the world, really.
- 11:25Speaker 5: Have you spoken to any of your men? Do you
- 11:27Speaker 5: know how they're reacting to this? Because emotionally, this must
- 11:30Speaker 5: be so incredibly difficult.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Well, there are a lot of them, but they've never
- 11:33Speaker 2: seen bodies like this. I mean, the bodies all over.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I mean, the great thing is when they find somebody
- 11:39Speaker 2: that's alive, like the five firemen that they just found
- 11:42Speaker 2: a little while ago. So that's the great thing, and
- 11:44Speaker 2: that's what they're all striving for. But Generally speaking, that's
- 11:48Speaker 2: not what the case. That's not the case. So they
- 11:50Speaker 2: are working very, very hard, but it's a very depressing
- 11:54Speaker 2: situation for these folks.
- 11:56Speaker 5: As you walked around and as you saw the piles
- 11:58Speaker 5: of rubble, there are thousands of families out there who
- 12:02Speaker 5: are hoping that someone might be in a pocket somewhere,
- 12:05Speaker 5: still alive, still breathing, waiting to be dug up. As
- 12:07Speaker 5: you assessed that damage, from your perspective, do you believe
- 12:10Speaker 5: that's possible?
- 12:11Speaker 8: Well, I would certainly not want to be the one
- 12:13Speaker 8: to say it's not possible.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Certainly it's... It's a tough situation, but you can't give
- 12:18Speaker 2: up hope because there's always hope. I mean, the five men,
- 12:20Speaker 2: I'm sure their families thought that they probably were gone.
- 12:23Speaker 8: And now they walk in the door. A couple of
- 12:25Speaker 8: them walked away after they.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Those five men he's talking about, one of them was
- 12:30Speaker 3: police officer Will Jimeno. And that was an amazing story. Again,
- 12:35Speaker 3: this is a file interview of President Trump when he
- 12:39Speaker 3: was just Donald Trump, the builder in New York City
- 12:41Speaker 3: on September 12th, I believe, of 2001. 25 years ago.
- 12:48Speaker 3: And just remarkable, right? Because some people in the news
- 12:51Speaker 3: were saying Trump doesn't know anything about this. He wasn't
- 12:54Speaker 3: at 9-11. He wasn't at Ground Zero. This is an
- 12:56Speaker 3: actual NBC News video of him at Ground Zero on
- 13:02Speaker 3: the day after 9-11. And as I understand it, he
- 13:05Speaker 3: was down there the day of. And I think Rudy
- 13:08Speaker 3: Giuliani has corroborated that because he has a building down
- 13:11Speaker 3: there and was checking on it. in uh... in the
- 13:13Speaker 3: hours after the attacks but uh... disinteresting how they'll do
- 13:17Speaker 3: anything to just poopoo this guy.
- 13:21Speaker 2: We dug out so there probably are some more people
- 13:23Speaker 2: in there and therefore you can't give up hope you've.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Had an impact on the skyline of new york what
- 13:28Speaker 5: is it like as you see it now.
- 13:30Speaker 8: Cycle whole different skylines like a whole different city and
- 13:33Speaker 8: world uh.
- 13:34Speaker 2: i cannot believe the site of lower manhattan without the
- 13:37Speaker 2: world trade center and therefore we have to rebuild not
- 13:40Speaker 2: necessarily in that form but We have to rebuild at
- 13:44Speaker 2: least as good and maybe better.
- 13:46Speaker 5: Just finally, can you tell me emotionally, as you walked around,
- 13:49Speaker 5: we've heard some of the stories from the firemen. They're
- 13:52Speaker 5: so exhausted, mentally and physically. What was it like for
- 13:56Speaker 5: you personally to go in and see all of what
- 13:58Speaker 5: you saw?
- 13:58Speaker 8: Well, it was amazing to see it.
- 14:00Speaker 2: It was a very depressing scene, but I'll tell you what,
- 14:03Speaker 2: you really can take heart. These firemen and policemen and
- 14:06Speaker 2: the construction workers equally, the courage they have is unbelievable.
- 14:10Speaker 8: I mean, they're working, digging out and lifting up steel.
- 14:13Speaker 2: And above them you have 55-story buildings that are very
- 14:15Speaker 2: possibly going to be pouring down on them any minute.
- 14:18Speaker 8: And they're working like nothing's wrong. I mean, they're amazing.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Well, I just went to what they call Ground Zero.
- 14:24Speaker 2: I've never seen anything like it.
- 14:25Speaker 3: This is the clip from the day before on the 9-11.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Devastation, the human life that's been just wasted for no
- 14:37Speaker 2: reason whatsoever.
- 14:39Speaker 8: It is a terrible scene. It's a terrible sight.
- 14:41Speaker 2: But New Yorkers are very strong and resilient and they'll
- 14:44Speaker 2: rebuild quickly.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Mr. Trump, what should be the response to this attack?
- 14:47Speaker 7: How should the U.S. respond to such a devastation? Well,
- 14:50Speaker 7: I think they have to respond quickly and effectively. They
- 14:52Speaker 7: have to find out exactly what the cause was, who
- 14:55Speaker 7: did it.
- 15:09Speaker 2: And they have to go after these people because there
- 15:12Speaker 2: is no other choice. And then secondarily and much less importantly,
- 15:16Speaker 2: we have to rebuild in some form that will be
- 15:18Speaker 2: just as majestic as the World Trade Center.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Trump has been the same guy year after year after year.
- 15:24Speaker 3: That was him 25 years ago. Sounds exactly like he
- 15:26Speaker 3: does today. The only difference, he wasn't a Republican back
- 15:31Speaker 3: then and he wasn't the president. Those two things have
- 15:34Speaker 3: caused a lot of people to hate him. But it
- 15:36Speaker 3: doesn't change who he was or what he stands for.
- 15:39Speaker 3: So I always give kudos to El Trumpito Donaldus Magnus,
- 15:41Speaker 3: the 45th and 47th president of these United States. Now,
- 15:46Speaker 3: I want to take a quick pause right here, come
- 15:49Speaker 3: back and get into our conversation with Councilwoman Vicky Palladino.
- 15:56Speaker 3: That's coming up. We also will continue to dig into
- 15:59Speaker 3: reflections and different things. that are on your mind. If
- 16:03Speaker 3: you want to join the program, feel free to do so.
- 16:05Speaker 3: 877-825-3371 or 877-VALDES1. And remember, there is so much more
- 16:07Speaker 3: straight ahead. Keep it locked right here. I'm Rich Valdez.
- 16:09Speaker 3: This is America. This is America.
- 16:32Speaker 1: He's got the best head of hair and podcasting.
- 16:35Speaker 4: This is America with Rich Valdez.
- 16:38Speaker 3: All right, familia, welcome back. Rich Valdez keeping you company tonight.
- 16:41Speaker 3: And I've got Councilwoman Vicky Palladino from the city of
- 16:44Speaker 3: New York joining us. She made all sorts of headlines
- 16:47Speaker 3: this week when she told Mayor Mamdani that she wasn't
- 16:51Speaker 3: requesting that he doesn't come to the 9-11 ceremony. She
- 16:54Speaker 3: was demanding that he not show his face. Councilwoman Vicky Palladino, welcome.
- 16:59Speaker 7: Thanks for having me on, Rich. Looking forward to doing
- 17:01Speaker 7: this interview. Thank you.
- 17:03Speaker 8: You bet.
- 17:04Speaker 3: So obviously, you know, as I mentioned, you make headlines
- 17:07Speaker 3: a lot. That happens to you every now and again,
- 17:09Speaker 3: I guess, because you're so passionate. What I want to
- 17:12Speaker 3: know is, you know, there's a lot of people that
- 17:14Speaker 3: have comms directors, that have speech writers, lots of politicians
- 17:18Speaker 3: that pay people to give them these kind of zingers,
- 17:22Speaker 3: these one-liners to make sure they get all the headlines.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Do you write them yourself? Was this pre-planned? Talk to us.
- 17:30Speaker 7: I know, I know. Nothing, you know, my poor staff,
- 17:33Speaker 7: I say it all the time. My chief of staff,
- 17:35Speaker 7: she goes through the great pains of writing bullet points
- 17:39Speaker 7: for me to follow or whatever. But you know, when
- 17:41Speaker 7: you're so tuned in to the everyday, and I am,
- 17:46Speaker 7: and I am passionate, as you mentioned. And hot-button issues
- 17:53Speaker 7: are very, very big for me. And my Twitter is wild.
- 17:57Speaker 7: You know, not my council member Twitter. It's the Vicky
- 18:00Speaker 7: Palladino for NYC, and that is honorable. I think it's
- 18:05Speaker 7: Adam or Vicky Palladino, so if anybody wants to follow,
- 18:08Speaker 7: that's where I really, you know, let it loose, so
- 18:12Speaker 7: to speak, and I have much more freedom. I don't
- 18:15Speaker 7: need to follow the rules on the government page. So
- 18:18Speaker 7: the fact of the matter is, you know, this week
- 18:21Speaker 7: was exhausting. It was exhausting emotionally, physically for so many people,
- 18:28Speaker 7: but several weeks ago, Mr. Galanti, who does not live
- 18:32Speaker 7: in my district, he lives in Council Member Areola's district,
- 18:35Speaker 7: which is South Queens. And he decided to do a
- 18:39Speaker 7: petition about a lot of the nine, you know, September
- 18:43Speaker 7: 11th families who really, really did not want, legitimately did
- 18:48Speaker 7: not want Zoram Mamdani there, you know. And we heard
- 18:52Speaker 7: a lot of talk a month before, you know, about
- 18:55Speaker 7: how he shouldn't be there, the reasons why he should
- 18:58Speaker 7: not be there. And the reasons why he should not
- 19:01Speaker 7: be there is because of his anti-American, anti-Western culture, radical
- 19:08Speaker 7: Islamic friends. And Hassan Paika being in the forefront these days.
- 19:16Speaker 7: And Al-Said out there in, where is he? Minnesota or Michigan.
- 19:22Speaker 7: But he's running for the United States Senate. So with
- 19:25Speaker 7: all that being said, when Mr. Galante went to Joanne,
- 19:29Speaker 7: with this petition, he only had about 60,000. 60,000 went
- 19:35Speaker 7: to 80,000. 80,000 went to 101,000, which is when we
- 19:39Speaker 7: did the press conference this past Tuesday. But from Tuesday
- 19:43Speaker 7: to Wednesday, I want everybody out there to know, he
- 19:46Speaker 7: went from 101 on Tuesday to This is right before 9-11, Friday.
- 19:59Speaker 7: So we did this press conference. And like you say,
- 20:03Speaker 7: you know, I had my folder in my hand with notes,
- 20:06Speaker 7: which I did not read. But because I speak from
- 20:10Speaker 7: my heart and I stay on top of things, I
- 20:13Speaker 7: let him have it. And there I was on the
- 20:15Speaker 7: steps of City Hall. You know, I go white. I
- 20:19Speaker 7: see white, nothing else. And I just pouted home. I said,
- 20:23Speaker 7: you know what? Why should I get up at the mic?
- 20:25Speaker 7: I watched everybody get up at the mic. Very polite,
- 20:28Speaker 7: and that was very nice of them to do it
- 20:29Speaker 7: that way. You know, they asked gently. They were, just
- 20:33Speaker 7: stay away. One particular gentleman really hit home, and I
- 20:38Speaker 7: went on right after him. And he represented Catholics from Brooklyn.
- 20:44Speaker 7: And he said, it's got nothing to do with being Muslim.
- 20:48Speaker 7: And I did, you know, it's got nothing to, because
- 20:50Speaker 7: everybody likes to say Muslim, Muslim, Muslim, and I'm a racist,
- 20:54Speaker 7: I'm this, I'm that. Look, there's good and bad in
- 20:56Speaker 7: every culture, let's face it. But these were radical Islamic
- 20:59Speaker 7: terrorists that did what they did on that dreadful day. So, hey,
- 21:05Speaker 7: you know what? You're associating with Hassan Paika. El-Sahid, you
- 21:11Speaker 7: got this one up in the Bronx, Chevalier, who will
- 21:14Speaker 7: wipe her dirty hands on our flag. You don't denounce anything, okay?
- 21:19Speaker 7: So your phony baloney BS that you tried to feed
- 21:22Speaker 7: people a week or two before, that morning of our
- 21:26Speaker 7: press conference, that's when he signed this investigation that he
- 21:31Speaker 7: wants the air quality checked, that morning of our press conference.
- 21:36Speaker 7: Give me... In essence, Rich.
- 21:39Speaker 3: You know, Vicki, I felt like that was a smoke
- 21:41Speaker 3: bomb just to throw a little shade at Rudy Giuliani.
- 21:44Speaker 8: Correct.
- 21:45Speaker 7: And I was just going to say that. Our good friend,
- 21:48Speaker 7: Rudy Giuliani, how dare you, Zoran, how dare you even
- 21:54Speaker 7: accuse Rudy That man, who could have stayed on longer
- 21:58Speaker 7: because of the state of emergency we were in, but
- 22:01Speaker 7: he followed the rules. He left his office and he
- 22:06Speaker 7: had the election because he was term limited out. So
- 22:10Speaker 7: what a lot of people don't know, that happened on
- 22:11Speaker 7: primary day, by the way, back in 2001. But he
- 22:16Speaker 7: showed the most enormous amount of leadership and courage and
- 22:21Speaker 7: Everything this young guy is lacking, everything he's lacking, not
- 22:26Speaker 7: to mention the patriotism end of things. He glued us together, Rudy.
- 22:31Speaker 7: It was amazing. So now you throw the smoke bomb,
- 22:34Speaker 7: like you say, that morning, right before the press conference,
- 22:37Speaker 7: like you're doing something. You know, Zoe, go sit down
- 22:40Speaker 7: and shut up. Do us all a favor. Really, take
- 22:43Speaker 7: a back seat. And we don't need you. And I
- 22:47Speaker 7: give credit to Jessica Tisch. She did some round of
- 22:51Speaker 7: press yesterday on the 11th. And I was very proud
- 22:56Speaker 7: of her that she did that. And bottom line, Jessica
- 23:00Speaker 7: Tisch is our firewall. I don't know what we would
- 23:03Speaker 7: do without Jess.
- 23:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 3: You know, it's really challenging to see how Mayor Mamdani has,
- 23:10Speaker 3: he comes into this administration with a city council, many
- 23:13Speaker 3: of your colleagues that align with him, that are Democrat
- 23:16Speaker 3: Socialists of America. And, you know, I normally wouldn't be
- 23:21Speaker 3: Team Tish, but for seeing how far to the left
- 23:26Speaker 3: the rest of the Democrats are, you know, I'll take it, right?
- 23:29Speaker 3: It's kind of how it works.
- 23:30Speaker 7: Well, I think of the balance that she has to work,
- 23:34Speaker 7: first of all. Jessica Tisch is from the Tisch family
- 23:37Speaker 7: of New York. That's as old money as you could get.
- 23:41Speaker 7: One of the things I learned about Jess just yesterday,
- 23:44Speaker 7: and I keep in touch with Jess on text message,
- 23:47Speaker 7: great job, keep it up, don't lose the faith. You know,
- 23:50Speaker 7: I send her one line, you know, just keep going, Jess.
- 23:55Speaker 7: You got to understand, she could be doing anything. When
- 23:58Speaker 7: she went, this happened, she was in college. And when
- 24:02Speaker 7: she came out of college, which I did not know this,
- 24:04Speaker 7: her very first job was in counterterrorism. I learned that yesterday.
- 24:11Speaker 7: And she went to work for the NYPD. And she,
- 24:14Speaker 7: you know, I worked with her as sanitation commissioner. I
- 24:18Speaker 7: have to say, she is so thorough in everything that
- 24:23Speaker 7: she does. She doesn't leave a rock unturned. And she
- 24:28Speaker 7: tries to work things out. Now she's police commissioner. She's
- 24:32Speaker 7: of Jewish origin. strong Jewish descent. She's working for an
- 24:36Speaker 7: anti-Semitic mayor. She believes in her cops. She believes in
- 24:42Speaker 7: law and order. And if we were able to uncuff
- 24:46Speaker 7: our cops, which we cannot do because my city council
- 24:51Speaker 7: prohibits that from ever happening, we would have a normal
- 24:55Speaker 7: running police department. No, she's not Carrick. No, she's not,
- 25:01Speaker 7: you know, what the heck was his name?
- 25:03Speaker 8: I forgot.
- 25:05Speaker 7: I'm sorry. But she's not him. But she is as
- 25:08Speaker 7: strong as you're going to get in this administration. She's
- 25:12Speaker 7: all we have. She's all we have, Rich.
- 25:15Speaker 3: We're not going to see a Ray Kelly in the
- 25:18Speaker 3: Mamdani administration.
- 25:19Speaker 7: Ray Kelly. There you go. Correct. Correct. That's the name
- 25:21Speaker 7: I was looking for. But she's doing a hell of
- 25:23Speaker 7: a job. Look, somebody gives you breadcrumbs because that's all
- 25:27Speaker 7: you're giving them is breadcrumbs. And she's got to try
- 25:30Speaker 7: to make a loaf of bread. It doesn't work that way. And,
- 25:34Speaker 7: you know, I say to people now, I don't use
- 25:37Speaker 7: the word defunding the police. I use the word depolicing
- 25:43Speaker 7: because we do have 32,000 cops, which we're probably 7,000
- 25:47Speaker 7: to 8,000 short on that number. But they're not allowed
- 25:51Speaker 7: to do their job. They're de-policed. They're working with handcuffs.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Councilwoman Vicky Palladino, you mentioned Hassan Piker, and I'm guessing
- 26:05Speaker 3: there is some pushback related to your comments. He, of course,
- 26:09Speaker 3: made some comments where he kind of celebrated 9-11. You
- 26:12Speaker 3: making comments against him and against Zoran Mamdani and his
- 26:16Speaker 3: circle of friends that seem to also have either supported
- 26:20Speaker 3: or been unindicted co-conspirators like... Siraj, Hassan, the imam. There's
- 26:26Speaker 3: a lot of reason that these people are asking him
- 26:30Speaker 3: not to go. It's not because they don't like him.
- 26:32Speaker 3: It's because of his association.
- 26:34Speaker 7: That's right. That's 100%. Because in the very, very beginning,
- 26:38Speaker 7: when all of this first came, you know, started, let's
- 26:41Speaker 7: just say September 11th was coming, okay? So let's just
- 26:44Speaker 7: say these conversations started back in early, mid-June. That's how
- 26:51Speaker 7: far back. this has been like an underlying simmer. You know,
- 26:55Speaker 7: the pot did not come up to a full boil yet.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Right.
- 26:58Speaker 7: And, and what we were doing was we were laying
- 27:00Speaker 7: it all out there. Uh, and then, you know, a
- 27:04Speaker 7: certain radio talk show host on WABC radio. I don't
- 27:09Speaker 7: know if I'm allowed to say his name or not. He,
- 27:11Speaker 7: he went out and he really pounded it and it
- 27:15Speaker 7: pounded it hard. Uh, as did I, as a guest
- 27:18Speaker 7: on his show. And, I tried to stay honestly rich. Well,
- 27:23Speaker 7: you know, he is the mayor. This is way back.
- 27:27Speaker 7: And not to have the mayor of the city of
- 27:30Speaker 7: New York, even though I can't stand the guy, what
- 27:33Speaker 7: he stands for, who he stands with, maybe he should
- 27:37Speaker 7: be there. Okay. Just as ceremonial. Because remember, no politicians
- 27:42Speaker 7: are allowed to speak. This is a day strictly for
- 27:46Speaker 7: the family. So it's not like he, it's just going
- 27:48Speaker 7: to be his presence. His physical presence is going to
- 27:51Speaker 7: be there. So there was a time there where I
- 27:55Speaker 7: wriggled and wiggled, you know, a little bit on it.
- 27:58Speaker 7: And then I realized the stronger and watching these people
- 28:02Speaker 7: win these primaries and watching Hassan Paika work with Al-Sahid.
- 28:07Speaker 7: Then we've got, what's his name as his chief counsel? Kassam.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Kassam?
- 28:13Speaker 7: Ramzi Kassam. That's our chief counsel. His brother-in-law drove the plane,
- 28:19Speaker 7: one of the planes, his brother-in-law. How are we going
- 28:22Speaker 7: to allow this?
- 28:24Speaker 3: It's wild.
- 28:24Speaker 7: This is reality, everybody. This is what's working in New York. Now, no,
- 28:29Speaker 7: you don't belong there. Now I was perfectly strong, perfectly good,
- 28:34Speaker 7: and happy with coming out as powerfully as I did.
- 28:38Speaker 7: You talked about Hasan Piker. He's taking shots at me.
- 28:42Speaker 7: I've got people cramming my office with phone calls. I
- 28:46Speaker 7: had to keep my door locked. I never keep my
- 28:49Speaker 7: door locked. My office isn't closed. But I had to
- 28:52Speaker 7: lock my door and buzz people in. Never ever would
- 28:55Speaker 7: I do that. But let's remember too, what we uncovered
- 29:00Speaker 7: about Zoran. Zoran's got a whole committee working in city
- 29:04Speaker 7: council on the taxpayer dime to go after people like
- 29:09Speaker 7: me on social media. And that's what they're doing. So
- 29:13Speaker 7: they're flooding my social media with this BS. And they'll
- 29:18Speaker 7: put out a comment or two, but 700, I'll pick
- 29:21Speaker 7: one in particular, 743 people will leave the most disgusting
- 29:26Speaker 7: comments on that comment.
- 29:29Speaker 3: What are they saying to you?
- 29:30Speaker 7: Oh, it's disgusting. It's not even fit for me to
- 29:33Speaker 7: say on your show. I mean, it's really quite bad.
- 29:38Speaker 7: And I let it roll off. like a duck's back.
- 29:41Speaker 7: Off a duck's back. If I need security, I have
- 29:44Speaker 7: a lot of friends who are former police officers who
- 29:48Speaker 7: are now working security for different companies. And they've told me, Vic,
- 29:53Speaker 7: whenever you go somewhere, don't go by yourself. I'll go
- 29:57Speaker 7: with you. So I have a rolodex of people who
- 30:01Speaker 7: will accompany me when I do need to go out.
- 30:04Speaker 7: I mean, Richard, sometimes it's to the point where we
- 30:07Speaker 7: saw what happened to.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Charlie Kirk.
- 30:09Speaker 8: Correct.
- 30:10Speaker 7: You know, these maniacs are everywhere. I could be going
- 30:14Speaker 7: to the grocery store. You know, everything is public knowledge now.
- 30:19Speaker 7: Nothing is out there that isn't. So they're reaching me
- 30:23Speaker 7: on my cell phone. They're not just going through social media. And,
- 30:27Speaker 7: you know, sadly, there's nothing I can do to block
- 30:31Speaker 7: my address. So, you know, you got to hope these
- 30:34Speaker 7: people stay at bay because if they're willing to take
- 30:38Speaker 7: a shot at the president four different times, three different times,
- 30:41Speaker 7: it's three different times in one serious attempt. that he
- 30:44Speaker 7: had to get away in the back of a van.
- 30:46Speaker 7: Remember when he was overseas? So there are people out
- 30:50Speaker 7: there that are sick. And when you read their comments,
- 30:53Speaker 7: you know, I never took them serious. And I still
- 30:58Speaker 7: don't because nobody's going to stop me from saying and
- 31:00Speaker 7: doing what needs to be said and what needs to
- 31:03Speaker 7: be done. And it's you, it's me, it's others like
- 31:08Speaker 7: us that need to enlighten the American people Just not
- 31:13Speaker 7: New York. New York's a template and it's working. We
- 31:16Speaker 7: need to enlighten the American people that our country is
- 31:20Speaker 7: at stake right now. This November election is about, it's
- 31:25Speaker 7: a whole ball of wax because people have to understand
- 31:30Speaker 7: Senate and Congress and in these blue states, they're taking
- 31:36Speaker 7: these people very seriously. And there's some states that are purple.
- 31:40Speaker 7: that are taking these people very seriously. If we lose
- 31:45Speaker 7: the majority, my word, they can do, first of all,
- 31:51Speaker 7: it'll be impeach Trump every day. It'll be stack the
- 31:55Speaker 7: Supreme Court. They'd like to tear our constitution to shreds.
- 32:02Speaker 7: You know, they say in the Koran, now here's where
- 32:05Speaker 7: religion comes in, that if you don't follow Allah, then
- 32:10Speaker 7: you're an infidel. And this is fact. And this has
- 32:13Speaker 7: been going on for decades. You know, everybody forgets about
- 32:17Speaker 7: the 1993 bombing, Rich.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 32:20Speaker 7: Okay, the World Trade Center, they went underneath.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Yeah, Ramsey Newsom, the blind shake.
- 32:26Speaker 8: Correct.
- 32:27Speaker 7: That was a horrific day that I also watched live
- 32:31Speaker 7: on TV. I could tell you, my mother was sitting
- 32:33Speaker 7: with me right here in this kitchen, and we watched it.
- 32:36Speaker 7: And by accident. because they interrupted all programming. And they
- 32:41Speaker 7: took out I don't know how many floors. Don't forget
- 32:43Speaker 7: about 1993. People, this didn't just start to happen in 2001.
- 32:48Speaker 7: They'd been infiltrating our government for decades. Then you had
- 32:52Speaker 7: Biden for four years with open borders.
- 32:54Speaker 8: We don't even.
- 32:55Speaker 7: Know how many people came in and are existing amongst us.
- 33:00Speaker 7: So get back to the election in November and how
- 33:03Speaker 7: very important that election in November is. The United States
- 33:07Speaker 7: of America must remain the United States of America. We
- 33:11Speaker 7: are proud people. And what they're forgetting, those people, is
- 33:17Speaker 7: that we have a war going on right here. And
- 33:21Speaker 7: we will win this war.
- 33:24Speaker 3: I want to circle back to this because I think
- 33:27Speaker 3: it's really important. And I also want to get your
- 33:29Speaker 3: take on AOC and Mamdani chuckling it up during the
- 33:34Speaker 3: reading of the names, which was wild to watch. A
- 33:37Speaker 3: couple other questions that I have for you, but I
- 33:38Speaker 3: want you to keep it locked right here. We're coming
- 33:40Speaker 3: right back with Councilwoman Vicky Palladino.
- 33:43Speaker 4: This is America. This is America. This is America.
- 34:05Speaker 3: President Donald J.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Trump, Mr.
- 34:07Speaker 3: President, welcome to the program, sir.
- 34:09Speaker 8: Well, thank you, Rich, and thank you for everything.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I know you very well, and I listen, but I
- 34:14Speaker 2: have a lot of people that listen, and they love
- 34:16Speaker 2: your show, and I appreciate it very much.
- 34:19Speaker 3: All right, familia, welcome back. Rich Valdez here with Councilwoman
- 34:22Speaker 3: Vicky Palladino. She's incredibly passionate. She loves her city. She
- 34:27Speaker 3: represents the district in Queens, District 19. And, Vicky, I
- 34:32Speaker 3: want to circle back to something you were talking about
- 34:35Speaker 3: with regards to American pride and what it means to
- 34:40Speaker 3: be an American. What is at stake in this upcoming election?
- 34:44Speaker 7: Well, like I said, everything is at stake. What does
- 34:47Speaker 7: it mean to be an American? It means to be
- 34:49Speaker 7: all accepting. We accept everybody. You know, Ronald Reagan once said,
- 34:54Speaker 7: You know, you could go to France, but you'll never
- 34:57Speaker 7: be considered a Frenchman. You could go to England, but
- 35:02Speaker 7: you'll never be considered a Brit. You could travel all
- 35:07Speaker 7: over the world, but you could come to America and
- 35:10Speaker 7: you could come here and you could be an American.
- 35:13Speaker 7: What does that mean? That means you could pursue whatever
- 35:17Speaker 7: you want to do. You must come here legally and
- 35:20Speaker 7: the doors, the floodgates open for you. We are a
- 35:24Speaker 7: strong nation, and we will fight. You know, this is
- 35:28Speaker 7: what I was saying before. We will protect our homeland.
- 35:32Speaker 7: I hope it doesn't get to that, that that's why
- 35:35Speaker 7: this November election is as important as it is, because
- 35:39Speaker 7: we've got to understand that I've often said the word
- 35:44Speaker 7: tolerance got us into this situation. You know, we were
- 35:48Speaker 7: raised to be tolerant. Tolerant means to be kind and
- 35:51Speaker 7: to accept others for who they are. We don't want
- 35:55Speaker 7: to lose that. But at the same time, what they
- 35:58Speaker 7: did with that word tolerance was they kicked the door in.
- 36:02Speaker 7: And now we're stuck with all of this, the aftermath
- 36:07Speaker 7: of what that simple word tolerance means. And now here
- 36:12Speaker 7: we are. So that's why I'm urging everybody. We're the
- 36:16Speaker 7: only strong voices out there, Rich. There's not many of us.
- 36:19Speaker 7: Because there's a media blackout. Channel 2, Channel 4, Channel 7.
- 36:23Speaker 7: You know, you got CNN, who knows? MSNBC. But a
- 36:29Speaker 7: lot of these moderates go that way. That's not your news.
- 36:36Speaker 7: And sadly, what are we down to? We're down to podcasts.
- 36:41Speaker 7: And we're down to Newsmax. We're down to Fox. They
- 36:45Speaker 7: do not cover anything that's really going on. And this
- 36:51Speaker 7: is why we're in this situation also.
- 36:53Speaker 8: Ignorance.
- 36:53Speaker 7: Ignorance. People do not understand exactly because the comments that
- 36:59Speaker 7: I'm getting about, how could you say that? He's the mayor.
- 37:03Speaker 7: He belongs there. Oh, you don't know. Those are the
- 37:06Speaker 7: light ones. You don't know what you're talking about. What
- 37:09Speaker 7: that does is those are normal people that are just
- 37:12Speaker 7: don't know what's going on. And those are the people that,
- 37:16Speaker 7: if we're educated properly and got the newsprint in the
- 37:20Speaker 7: press properly and accurately, listen to mainstream media that got
- 37:27Speaker 7: it accurate, which there's no such thing. They got to
- 37:30Speaker 7: watch Fox. So they call me an old hag that's
- 37:33Speaker 7: a Fox hag or a Newsmax hag. I got one
- 37:36Speaker 7: person saying, oh, she's old. She'll probably be dying soon.
- 37:41Speaker 7: I can't wait for the day she dies. You know,
- 37:43Speaker 7: this is the kind of BS you get. But we
- 37:46Speaker 7: got to go after everybody unless we can.
- 37:51Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 37:51Speaker 3: You know, I think you're framing it appropriately because there's
- 37:56Speaker 3: a reality that the left within the media, the left
- 37:59Speaker 3: within the government, the left within our country, they kind
- 38:03Speaker 3: of collude, right? Because they have a similar goal. And
- 38:06Speaker 3: the idea is to, like you said, weaponize kindness, right?
- 38:10Speaker 3: They weaponize the good nature in people. That's correct. So
- 38:15Speaker 3: they can do what they do and we can go,
- 38:18Speaker 3: but how could you exclude this? Or how could you
- 38:20Speaker 3: go at them this way? And how could you do that?
- 38:22Speaker 3: Not realizing the damage that's really being done if we don't.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Take action.
- 38:27Speaker 7: I'm sick and tired of the word racist. Like one
- 38:29Speaker 7: of the things Hassan Piker and others have accused me
- 38:32Speaker 7: of very loudly is that I'm a racist. I'm the
- 38:36Speaker 7: furthest thing from a racist. Let's define. First of all,
- 38:40Speaker 7: they watered down that word racist several years ago. Let's
- 38:45Speaker 7: come forward. Now, you could say whatever you want, right, Hassan?
- 38:50Speaker 7: You're free to call.
- 38:52Speaker 8: Me all kinds of names. Yeah, free speech.
- 38:53Speaker 7: Oh, yeah, you can say whatever you want and condemn
- 38:57Speaker 7: our country and its patriots and condemn our president, condemn
- 39:02Speaker 7: our way of life and all of that. See, they're
- 39:05Speaker 7: so one-sided. It's all their way or no way. And
- 39:09Speaker 7: if you dare disagree with these people, as I do,
- 39:13Speaker 7: as you do, me a little bit more loudly because
- 39:15Speaker 7: I have the platform of the council, but either way,
- 39:20Speaker 7: don't be calling me names. And that's what I said
- 39:23Speaker 7: when I was on another show. I said, hey, Hassan,
- 39:25Speaker 7: I want you for five minutes. That's all I need
- 39:27Speaker 7: you for is five minutes. Don't be calling. And he
- 39:30Speaker 7: put it up on his thing. He put it up.
- 39:32Speaker 7: So she wants me for five minutes. So they made
- 39:35Speaker 7: fun of the fact that I was Italian and I
- 39:37Speaker 7: sounded like some sort of mob wife. I could care
- 39:41Speaker 7: less what they say. This comes under. Sticks and stones
- 39:44Speaker 7: can break my bones, but your words will never harm me.
- 39:48Speaker 7: So keep going. Give me the platform I need. Make
- 39:51Speaker 7: me famous so I can continue to come after you, Hassan.
- 39:55Speaker 8: Continue.
- 39:55Speaker 4: I love it.
- 39:56Speaker 3: You know, Vicki, what's interesting with a lot of that
- 39:58Speaker 3: is that the mob wives aren't really bad people. I've
- 40:03Speaker 3: come to know a few of them over the years.
- 40:05Speaker 3: They're not bad. It's not an insult. They're good people.
- 40:08Speaker 3: I just want to pause right here, Vicky. We're going
- 40:09Speaker 3: to come right back and get your take on that,
- 40:12Speaker 3: as well as AOC and Mamdani chopping it up, your
- 40:16Speaker 3: thoughts on Trump's speech. Keep it locked right here. It's
- 40:18Speaker 3: Rich Valdez.
- 40:20Speaker 4: This is America. This is America.
- 40:36Speaker 1: He's brown, he's bald, and he's breaking it down.
- 40:39Speaker 3: Oh, he's so handsome.
- 40:40Speaker 7: What's his name?
- 40:41Speaker 4: Rich Valdez.
- 40:44Speaker 3: All right, familia, welcome back. We continue with Madame Councilwoman
- 40:48Speaker 3: Vicky Palladino, District 19, New York City Council. Vicky Palladino,
- 40:53Speaker 3: you're never at a loss for words. You always have
- 40:55Speaker 3: a lot to say. Your wisdom, your passion are definitely
- 40:58Speaker 3: appreciated on this program. I want to get your take on...
- 41:02Speaker 3: on everything we're talking about, but I want to add
- 41:04Speaker 3: into the mix the conversation between AOC and Zoran Mamdani. Now,
- 41:10Speaker 3: some people are saying this is being taken out of context.
- 41:13Speaker 3: They're just trying to throw shots. And that may be true.
- 41:15Speaker 3: But what I've seen the video, I saw Barack Obama
- 41:19Speaker 3: sitting next to Mike Bloomberg, sitting next to George W.
- 41:22Speaker 4: Bush.
- 41:22Speaker 3: I didn't see any of them laughing and making a
- 41:25Speaker 3: joke when you're at a commemoration for one of the
- 41:27Speaker 3: largest terrorist attacks in American history. So what are your
- 41:31Speaker 3: thoughts on this?
- 41:32Speaker 7: Well, Rich, to your point, 100%. We saw generations of
- 41:36Speaker 7: presidents there and their wives. They were as solemn as
- 41:40Speaker 7: I've ever seen them in my lifetime. To watch IOC
- 41:44Speaker 7: and Zoran do what they did, like you say, it
- 41:47Speaker 7: could have been a bleep on a screen and a
- 41:49Speaker 7: camera caught it. The bottom line is this. They have
- 41:52Speaker 7: no clue, Rich. They have no clue what that day means,
- 41:57Speaker 7: nor do they ever really want to know. They were young.
- 42:02Speaker 7: They cannot encompass really true. Because, I mean, I know
- 42:07Speaker 7: a lot of young people who were hit really hard
- 42:10Speaker 7: yesterday in their minds and the seriousness of it. These
- 42:13Speaker 7: are leaders, people who want to become leaders. You know
- 42:16Speaker 7: the cameras on you.
- 42:17Speaker 3: You fools.
- 42:17Speaker 7: Right, exactly.
- 42:19Speaker 3: And you're a professional in front of the camera. You're
- 42:21Speaker 3: a professional in front of crowds.
- 42:22Speaker 7: Damn right. You know you're on the camera. You don't
- 42:25Speaker 7: act like old chums who are giggling like school-age children.
- 42:31Speaker 7: Because that's technically what they are. He's 34. Let's remember everybody.
- 42:35Speaker 7: He only became a citizen seven years ago, eight years ago.
- 42:38Speaker 3: And I mean, not in defense of him, but I
- 42:40Speaker 3: don't think he was even in New York when we
- 42:41Speaker 3: had 9-11.
- 42:42Speaker 7: No, I don't believe he was either. I heard that too.
- 42:46Speaker 7: Someone told me that. It's in the back of my
- 42:48Speaker 7: mind somewhere. I can't get specific. But I remember hearing that.
- 42:52Speaker 7: And point being, they did what they did. It was stupid.
- 42:57Speaker 7: It was ignorant. But that's exactly who they are. That's
- 43:01Speaker 7: exactly who they are. And that was a microcosm, a
- 43:05Speaker 7: microcosm of what we could expect. Should she, that lunatic,
- 43:11Speaker 7: who's going to run- All out crazy. All out crazy, right?
- 43:14Speaker 8: I forgot.
- 43:15Speaker 7: All out crazy. Is she going to run for president?
- 43:18Speaker 7: Is she seriously considering that? Or is she going to
- 43:22Speaker 7: run for state senate for Chuck Schumer's seat? Maybe I
- 43:24Speaker 7: should go for that seat. What do you think?
- 43:27Speaker 3: I'm all for it. I'm all for it. Can you imagine?
- 43:30Speaker 7: Oh, boy, would I love to go up against her.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Yeah, what a face off that would be. It would
- 43:34Speaker 3: be great. Where can people send donations in case they
- 43:38Speaker 3: want to see that happen, Vicki?
- 43:39Speaker 7: Oh, not yet. I don't have anything set up yet.
- 43:42Speaker 7: I'm waiting to see how this election goes on the
- 43:46Speaker 7: 4th and the 3rd, rather. And everybody get out there
- 43:50Speaker 7: and vote, please. It's one vote, one person, one vote. Please,
- 43:55Speaker 7: with the vote of fraud, stop talking about it because
- 43:58Speaker 7: it's discouraged too many people from voting. Get out there
- 44:01Speaker 7: and vote. Your very life is at stake.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Now, Vicki, I want to get into what you said.
- 44:06Speaker 3: You said this is an important election. I think that
- 44:09Speaker 3: that same point was underscored by President Trump days ago
- 44:12Speaker 3: in Dallas, Texas, at the Republican National Midterm Convention. And
- 44:17Speaker 3: this was I thought it was a great speech. It
- 44:19Speaker 3: was good to see Trump on his game doing what
- 44:21Speaker 3: he does best, in my opinion. coalescing the people, bringing
- 44:25Speaker 3: people from the fringes in to the big tent. And
- 44:28Speaker 3: great to see. I think a lot of people are nervous.
- 44:32Speaker 3: I think if the election were today, perhaps we'd be
- 44:34Speaker 3: in good shape, but we still have a month and
- 44:35Speaker 3: a half or whatever to go. So it puts a
- 44:38Speaker 3: lot of us on edge. Talk to me about your
- 44:40Speaker 3: thoughts on his speech and the message that he spread
- 44:45Speaker 3: at the convention.
- 44:48Speaker 7: Thank God. I am so happy to see him. There
- 44:51Speaker 7: were so many rumors going around. And we, you and
- 44:54Speaker 7: I know that he's fine. But he was so on
- 44:58Speaker 7: top of his game. I'll go so far as to say,
- 45:01Speaker 7: I really think, Rich, this was probably one of the
- 45:03Speaker 7: best speeches he ever gave. He rattled off the accomplishments
- 45:10Speaker 7: of the Trump administration in 19 short months. People need
- 45:15Speaker 7: to hear this. We're getting all wrapped up in this
- 45:18Speaker 7: background music of what they are dictating, the media is dictating,
- 45:24Speaker 7: that we hear. Trump needs to do this more. We've
- 45:29Speaker 7: got how many days until the election? We have until
- 45:32Speaker 7: November 3rd. Get out there on the stump again, Trump.
- 45:36Speaker 7: Gather the people. He also has a very good bench
- 45:40Speaker 7: of people that he could send out, using J.D. Vance
- 45:43Speaker 7: more than he ever has. Let's get the bench out.
- 45:47Speaker 7: Let's get people out. But you, Trump, you did such
- 45:51Speaker 7: a fabulous job. When I heard the list, it was astounding.
- 45:57Speaker 7: And he stayed on script, which was super important. And everybody,
- 46:01Speaker 7: he looked healthy. He sounded phenomenal. I had somebody in
- 46:05Speaker 7: the room with me watching the speech, and they wiped
- 46:08Speaker 7: their brow. They said, oh, thank God he's back. He
- 46:12Speaker 7: was that good. So I am really happy, and I
- 46:16Speaker 7: really hope he gets out and does this more. People
- 46:20Speaker 7: need to see and hear his accomplishments, exactly how he
- 46:25Speaker 7: fixed this country. with illegal immigrants. There's no border crossings.
- 46:31Speaker 7: Imagine that. Look at what he did with those ships. Now,
- 46:35Speaker 7: if you listen to the left, he went and, you know,
- 46:38Speaker 7: he bombed ships. No, he took down drug cartels, everybody.
- 46:42Speaker 7: Drug cartels. What we've got doing in this country now
- 46:47Speaker 7: has dropped so much. This needs to be shouted out there.
- 46:51Speaker 7: People need to know. And the list goes on and
- 46:54Speaker 7: on and on and on and on. And, you know,
- 46:58Speaker 7: I don't know what else to say. We just keep
- 47:01Speaker 7: saying what we need to say. Just keep saying it.
- 47:04Speaker 8: Right.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Yeah. The momentum is there. I think we all have
- 47:07Speaker 3: to keep our foot on the gas, get through to
- 47:09Speaker 3: the finish line. Don't pump those brakes. Yeah. Councilwoman Vicki Palladino,
- 47:15Speaker 3: I want you to get your, I guess your final
- 47:17Speaker 3: thoughts on, and again, underscoring what you started telling me before,
- 47:23Speaker 3: which was the, uh, The importance, right? I think President
- 47:25Speaker 3: Trump framed it accurately. The backdrop of 9-11 with a
- 47:31Speaker 3: mayor who is friendly towards Islamist radical sympathizers who have
- 47:38Speaker 3: ties to different elements of various attacks. It's a juxtaposition
- 47:45Speaker 3: that I thought I'd never see in my life. I
- 47:48Speaker 3: doubt you ever thought you'd see it. And here we are.
- 47:51Speaker 3: And I guess from a political perspective, and I think
- 47:54Speaker 3: President Trump's calculus, and he's usually right on these things,
- 47:57Speaker 3: is that people are going to see this and not
- 47:59Speaker 3: like it. People are going to see this and take action.
- 48:02Speaker 3: And they're going to say, this is about America, maintaining America.
- 48:06Speaker 3: It's about keeping America what it is and avoiding socialism,
- 48:12Speaker 3: you know, capitalism versus socialism. What are your final thoughts
- 48:17Speaker 3: on that election? Is that the right way to frame it?
- 48:19Speaker 3: And is it going to be successful?
- 48:21Speaker 7: Yes, I do believe it's the right way to frame it.
- 48:25Speaker 7: I want everybody to take their minds off of the
- 48:28Speaker 7: gas prices. I really do. It hurts our pockets. There's
- 48:32Speaker 7: no question about it. Everybody's hurting. Guys, you got to
- 48:36Speaker 7: put this on the back burner. You got to concentrate
- 48:39Speaker 7: on what's at stake here. And what I said before,
- 48:42Speaker 7: is quite true. You know, vote as if your life
- 48:45Speaker 7: depends on it, because it does. We are at a
- 48:48Speaker 7: crossroads now. And we will never, Trump will be disarmed.
- 48:57Speaker 7: Everything he's done, all his good, will go to the
- 49:00Speaker 7: wayside as if it never happened. They will go after him.
- 49:04Speaker 7: They will impeach him every single day. They will staff
- 49:08Speaker 7: the courts, the Supreme Court. Can you imagine having these
- 49:11Speaker 7: lunatics in Congress, in control of Congress and God forbid
- 49:17Speaker 7: the Senate and Hakeem Jeffries? as Speaker of the City Council,
- 49:22Speaker 7: he too has taken a knee to Zoran Mamdani. The
- 49:27Speaker 7: Democratic Party is dead. The Democratic Party, and I have
- 49:32Speaker 7: to say, last night when Kennedy spoke, and he put
- 49:37Speaker 7: it out there, And he said it really very well.
- 49:41Speaker 7: He's from a staunch Democrat family. His uncle, his father,
- 49:47Speaker 7: you know, assassinated. JFK would have been a Republican today.
- 49:51Speaker 7: His dad, they'd be rolling over in their graves, and
- 49:56Speaker 7: they probably are, watching what's happening to America. That's not
- 50:01Speaker 7: their party anymore. The Democratic Party has ceased to exist
- 50:07Speaker 7: as we know it. So it is not the Democratic Party.
- 50:12Speaker 7: It's we, the American people, versus the communists. You're an American?
- 50:19Speaker 7: Vote the American way of life. Don't vote the communist
- 50:23Speaker 7: way of life. This is a bipartisan election. You must
- 50:27Speaker 7: crisscross on the ballot here in New York. If you
- 50:31Speaker 7: don't vote Hochul, vote Blakeman. Do this down the line
- 50:35Speaker 7: throughout the country. I just want you to vote American
- 50:40Speaker 7: because it's American versus communism. The Democratic Party, folks, is dead.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Couldn't have said it any better myself. Councilwoman Vicky Palladino,
- 50:48Speaker 3: we're going to leave it right there. I want to
- 50:50Speaker 3: thank you for being here.
- 50:51Speaker 7: Thank you, Rich, for having me.
- 50:52Speaker 3: Keep fighting.
- 50:53Speaker 7: Thank you. Thank you, Rich. Appreciate you.
- 50:56Speaker 4: This is America. This is America.
- 51:17Speaker 1: He's making podcasting great again.
- 51:20Speaker 4: This is America with Rich Valdez. This is America.
- 51:30Speaker 1: He's making podcasting great again. This is America with Rich Valdez.
- 51:38Speaker 4: This is America.
- 51:42Speaker 1: He's making podcasting great again.
- 51:45Speaker 4: This is America with Rich Valdez.
- 51:50Speaker 3: All right, familia. Welcome back. Rich Valdez, keeping you company tonight,
- 51:53Speaker 3: Friday night, nine 11 25th anniversary. And I want to
- 51:59Speaker 3: get into a couple of things. One, I want to
- 52:02Speaker 3: remind you to check out my episode on Lindsay Clancy
- 52:05Speaker 3: from yesterday. If you didn't have a chance to check
- 52:08Speaker 3: that out, um, It's good to be back from Puerto
- 52:11Speaker 3: Rico and my vacation with my family. A guy's trip.
- 52:14Speaker 3: We took a guy's trip. My brother has a stepbrother.
- 52:20Speaker 3: They're sons, so my nephew. I guess we can call
- 52:22Speaker 3: the other guy my nephew, too. And my big brother.
- 52:27Speaker 3: We had a great time. It really was. I've mentioned
- 52:31Speaker 3: that in a previous show. But just reiterating that it
- 52:34Speaker 3: was a good time and I appreciate you all you know,
- 52:38Speaker 3: putting up with me enjoying myself. I've taken a good
- 52:41Speaker 3: amount of time off this summer and lots of exciting
- 52:45Speaker 3: things have occurred. I think, you know, life is one
- 52:48Speaker 3: of those things you have to live, right? You can't
- 52:51Speaker 3: just think about doing stuff. You got to do stuff.
- 52:54Speaker 3: And of course, you know, being able to afford stuff
- 52:56Speaker 3: comes into play, but where there's a will, there's a way.
- 52:59Speaker 3: And I tend to lean towards the figure out a
- 53:03Speaker 3: way to make it work, right? Go on Groupon, find
- 53:06Speaker 3: the way to get the cheaper flights, Do what you
- 53:08Speaker 3: got to do. This is a new era of life. And,
- 53:12Speaker 3: you know, being that we're reflecting on 9-11, I think
- 53:14Speaker 3: it's great that we talk about this stuff. Because 9-11
- 53:20Speaker 3: was 25 years ago. I had a brand new baby,
- 53:25Speaker 3: my big girl. And I remember I was getting ready
- 53:28Speaker 3: for work. And at the time I worked for a
- 53:32Speaker 3: Fortune 10 communications company. In Manhattan, I had an account,
- 53:37Speaker 3: a major bank, Goldman Sachs, who was one of the
- 53:41Speaker 3: accounts that I serviced for this company. And I was
- 53:44Speaker 3: in fact going to be visiting the World Trade Center
- 53:49Speaker 3: that very day. And I remember I was feeling very lackadaisical,
- 53:54Speaker 3: if that's the right word. I just didn't want to
- 53:57Speaker 3: go anywhere. I was, you know, lollygagging around the house.
- 54:01Speaker 3: I remember my wife, I was married back then. She said,
- 54:04Speaker 3: you're going to miss the bus. I was like, no,
- 54:06Speaker 3: I'll catch the next one, don't worry. Excuse me. And
- 54:11Speaker 3: you know what was interesting about it was I normally
- 54:14Speaker 3: didn't do that on days like that. But the news
- 54:17Speaker 3: was on like it was every other day. It was
- 54:19Speaker 3: a beautiful September morning. And I remember her telling me again, hey, listen,
- 54:27Speaker 3: you know, stop straightening your tie. It looks fine. You
- 54:31Speaker 3: better get going because... There was a plane crash. Some
- 54:35Speaker 3: small plane hit the World Trade Center. Now, my ears,
- 54:40Speaker 3: you know, peaked up. And I said, what?
- 54:43Speaker 7: Who?
- 54:44Speaker 3: And she said, yeah, like one of those little planes
- 54:47Speaker 3: hit the World Trade Center. And she said, you know,
- 54:51Speaker 3: there might be traffic, so you better hurry up. And
- 54:53Speaker 3: I thought to myself, it's terrorism. You know, my cynical
- 54:59Speaker 3: nature kicking in. So I start, I'm glued to the
- 55:02Speaker 3: screen now. My ADHD hyper-focus locks in on WPIX News.
- 55:07Speaker 3: Watching what's going on, play-by-play. And as I'm watching it,
- 55:11Speaker 3: whatever it was, 10 minutes later, an hour later, whatever
- 55:13Speaker 3: that time frame was, the next plane hits while they're
- 55:17Speaker 3: filming the first plane, you know, inside the building. And
- 55:22Speaker 3: because these buildings are so massive, a full jumbo jet
- 55:27Speaker 3: could fly into it and they... didn't honestly know that
- 55:31Speaker 3: it was a commercial jetliner until the second one hit
- 55:33Speaker 3: it and they saw it. A lot of people thought
- 55:36Speaker 3: it was a smaller plane, including the people reporting the news.
- 55:41Speaker 3: And I thought that makes sense because sometimes smaller planes,
- 55:46Speaker 3: or at least smaller aircraft like helicopters, would fly sideways
- 55:52Speaker 3: in between the Twin Towers while they were doing tours
- 55:55Speaker 3: to show off with the people inside the helicopter. And
- 55:57Speaker 3: I only knew that because I'd been on one. And
- 56:00Speaker 3: I had some friends that worked at the heliport. And
- 56:03Speaker 3: I remember getting a discount and taking my ex-wife on
- 56:11Speaker 3: a helicopter tour. And I remember them doing pirouettes and
- 56:14Speaker 3: me squeezing her hand. I was like, oh my gosh,
- 56:16Speaker 3: I got to get out of here. I was not
- 56:18Speaker 3: a fan of the glass-bottomed helicopter. It was nice, but
- 56:24Speaker 3: it was nerve-wracking to tell you the truth. But I
- 56:27Speaker 3: remember them doing these little pirouettes and things like that.
- 56:29Speaker 3: So I figured, oh, somebody was doing that with like
- 56:31Speaker 3: a Cessna or something and, you know, crashed, uh, you know,
- 56:35Speaker 3: clipped a wing or something is what my initial thought was.
- 56:38Speaker 3: Then I see that there's a hole in the side
- 56:39Speaker 3: of it. Then you see the next big plane come
- 56:41Speaker 3: in and boom, there it is. Now I lived at
- 56:44Speaker 3: the time in North Bergen, New Jersey, which probably I'm
- 56:48Speaker 3: going to say four and a half miles directly away from, uh,
- 56:54Speaker 3: from New York city and maybe six or seven miles, um,
- 56:59Speaker 3: maybe five and a half miles, six miles away from
- 57:01Speaker 3: world trade center. And I could see it directly through
- 57:04Speaker 3: my bedroom window, clear kind of unobstructed view. I lived
- 57:08Speaker 3: on the, uh, the third floor. Long story short, when
- 57:14Speaker 3: I was watching this, what many say was a controlled
- 57:18Speaker 3: demolition with, um, all I could say was the implosion
- 57:23Speaker 3: of these towers when they went down on TV and
- 57:26Speaker 3: the TV stopped working because there were TV antennas on
- 57:30Speaker 3: top of the World Trade Center. I said, I don't
- 57:34Speaker 3: believe it. I looked outside and they were gone.
- 57:40Speaker 4: And I was like, no way.
- 57:42Speaker 3: Like, how could that be? Because it was really just
- 57:46Speaker 3: a state of incredulity, right? You just, could not believe
- 57:50Speaker 3: what was going on. And all I saw was like
- 57:53Speaker 3: that cloud of smoke and an empty gap where those
- 57:58Speaker 3: two towers once stood. And it was clear as day
- 58:00Speaker 3: to me. This was not an accident. This was not anything.
- 58:03Speaker 3: This was terrorists. This was, you know, the powers that
- 58:06Speaker 3: be doing what they do. I immediately heard the jets
- 58:09Speaker 3: flying overhead, F-15s and whatnot, whatever they were, F-35. And
- 58:15Speaker 3: that was my story. Now, I don't know why I
- 58:18Speaker 3: didn't head into the city that day. I really don't.
- 58:21Speaker 3: I don't know that I would have made it down
- 58:23Speaker 3: to the World Trade Center in time. I would have
- 58:26Speaker 3: probably arrived around 9 or 9-ish to the city. My
- 58:33Speaker 3: office was on Broadway in the Flatiron section. So there's
- 58:37Speaker 3: a chance I might have been on the train on
- 58:39Speaker 3: the way if I went first thing. Or I would
- 58:43Speaker 3: have just been trapped in Manhattan. I don't know. But
- 58:46Speaker 3: I know that something told me not to go, not
- 58:48Speaker 3: to leave my brand new baby, not to leave my home.
- 58:51Speaker 3: And I didn't. I listened to that, which, you know,
- 58:54Speaker 3: I don't know if that's always the right thing to do.
- 58:55Speaker 3: Because when you have ADHD, you know, you always get
- 58:58Speaker 3: these procrastination feelings. Don't do this. Don't do that. Okay,
- 59:01Speaker 3: no problem. I'll just keep watching my show or keep,
- 59:04Speaker 3: locked in on the news or whatever it is. So anyway,
- 59:07Speaker 3: that is my 9-11 story and so many more, honestly,
- 59:12Speaker 3: that came as a result of that. There was my
- 59:15Speaker 3: first visit going down there. I worked for a cellular
- 59:18Speaker 3: phone carrier and I remember getting off the subway down
- 59:20Speaker 3: there and the smell of burnt human flesh was something
- 59:24Speaker 3: I'll never forget. As soon as those subway doors opened,
- 59:26Speaker 3: you could smell it. It permeated the The actual subway station.
- 59:32Speaker 3: And it's a smell I'll never forget. I'll never get
- 59:36Speaker 3: out of my mind because it was so unique and
- 59:39Speaker 3: so horrid. But something that serves as a reminder of
- 59:43Speaker 3: the gravity and intensity of this day. So for those
- 59:46Speaker 3: that commemorate this day and lost people, I salute you.
- 59:51Speaker 3: I salute the fallen. And for everybody else, I always
- 59:55Speaker 3: say you got to stand for something. Because if you
- 59:56Speaker 3: stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything. And the only
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good people
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: to do nothing. So make sure you do something. Hasta
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: la proxima. Take care. Good night. And God bless you, America.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: I'm Rich Valdez. And this is America.
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: This is America.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: This is America.
