- 0:58The Arise Women of God Podcast hello.
- 1:01And welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast.
- 1:05I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 1:07Andersen.
- 1:08And joining me today is the terrific and talented Tiffany Fletcher, a member of our Women warriors of Light Advisory board.
- 1:16And today we are diving into the internal mechanics of revelation.
- 1:22First, we're going to discuss the still small voice and the best and easiest test to tell if it's from God.
- 1:29Second, we'll share a quote by Dallas Willard.
- 1:32Third, Tiffany is going to share the Wildflower miracle, proof that when you follow a prompting, you might just be the answer to someone's prayer.
- 1:41And finally, we'll talk about the early morning downloads, how to hand your problems to God at night and wake up with the solution.
- 1:50But first, let's kick it off by talking about that still small voice.
- 1:55God can absolutely speak to us through our thoughts.
- 1:57And we were told that he's a still small voice.
- 1:59And, and so many times in my life had those thoughts that just are inspiring and just lead me to do good.
- 2:07And I think that that's really how you know whether or not it's your thought or whether it's.
- 2:12It's not.
- 2:12Is.
- 2:12Is it leading you to do good?
- 2:14If it is, it's.
- 2:15It's thought from God and God speaking to you and in giving you an invitation to, to be his hands here on this earth.
- 2:23And, and I love that he works that way.
- 2:25I think.
- 2:26I think sometimes, yes, he can speak an auditory voice.
- 2:29Moses heard him speak through the bush, but I think most of the time it's he's speaking to us in a still small voice in our thoughts, in our mind and in our heart to help us know what he
- 2:42would have us Do.
- 2:43And again, if it leads us to do good, then it is good and I say do it.
- 2:48God, I think, gives us lots of invitations and he is so grateful when we are willing to act on them, to bless his children.
- 2:57There you have it, friends.
- 2:58If it leads to good, it's from God.
- 3:00But the tricky part is that the adversary is usually the second voice, the one that shows up five minutes later or an hour later telling you to doubt that idea as stupid or awkward.
- 3:13Dallas Willard once said that God's voice usually shows up like a thought that is not your own.
- 3:20Sometimes he tests us with a nudge that will bump us out of our comfort zone.
- 3:26The more I try to connect with.
- 3:28God and hear him better, sometimes I think he tests us a little bit, like, I'm going to give her this thought.
- 3:36And sometimes it's something that takes you out of your comfort zone a little bit, like text this person and you're like, I don't know them well enough to text them God, you know what I mean?
- 3:48But if it persists and it's a good thing, you're just, hey, I'm thinking of you.
- 3:53Or just thought I'd check on you, had a thought to connect with you today or something simple.
- 3:59If you've got a persistent thought and it's God, it's like God's almost tapping you on the brain, like, and you know, it's good, but it's a little bit scary.
- 4:09Try it anyway, right?
- 4:10It doesn't hurt to send someone some love or to pray for someone, hey, I'm thinking of you today and praying for you and your family.
- 4:18How hard is that?
- 4:19I mean, wouldn't you, even if it was somebody you didn't know very well, wouldn't you appreciate that somebody was thinking about you and praying for you?
- 4:27Yes, right.
- 4:29I'm like, all the prayers I can get send my way, Lord, you know, I love that.
- 4:35If it's something good, just act on it.
- 4:38I think the adversary is usually the second voice that comes and says, that's stupid, that's dumb, right?
- 4:46So my friends, we have to follow that first voice.
- 4:49When we do, we often find that our so called random thought was actually a precise answer to someone's desperate prayer.
- 4:59God loves when we are willing to be his hands on this earth.
- 5:02There are so many people who need love and who need to fill his love through us and, and he can use us in so many ways and, and who knows, we may be the answer to someone's prayers.
- 5:15I remember one time I was having a really really hard day.
- 5:18And I.
- 5:19I was like, I really love flowers.
- 5:21And so I was like, God, I just really would love some flowers.
- 5:26It was just a thought that I had.
- 5:28And I was like, you know, I just need flowers to help me feel just joyful today because it was a really, really hard day.
- 5:36That afternoon, a knock came to the door, and a woman in the neighborhood brought me some beautiful flowers that she had picked out of her garden.
- 5:44So lovely.
- 5:46And it just was a.
- 5:47It was just such a blessing.
- 5:49And she's like, I don't know why.
- 5:51She's like, I was in my garden, and the thought came that I should pick some of these for you.
- 5:55And she's like, I know that they're.
- 5:57They're not much, but I just felt that maybe you could use them today.
- 6:02And I thought that was beautiful.
- 6:05Beautiful.
- 6:05What a beautiful gift, right?
- 6:08And I told her that they were answered to my prayer and that through her, I was able to feel God's love and that I felt seen and I felt heard, and I just thanked her for following the spirit
- 6:20and.
- 6:20And I think that we need more of that.
- 6:24When those thoughts come into our mind, they are from our Heavenly Father, because he knows the prayers of our neighbors and he knows what will bless them, and he will use us if we're willing to make a difference
- 6:37in their lives.
- 6:38God uses us to answer each other's prayers, but the good news is he also wants to answer you directly.
- 6:46I have found that if I lay my problems at the altar at night before I go to sleep, God often provides a download before the world gets too noisy the next morning.
- 6:58Sometimes before I go to bed and I'm dealing with a particularly plexing problem, either with work or with one of my kids or whatever family situation.
- 7:09Sometimes in my evening prayers, I'll just say, heavenly Father, here's some of the things I'm really wondering about.
- 7:15But this one in particular, I'm really like, I don't know how to solve this problem.
- 7:19It's almost like I'm just handing it to him, laying it on the altar and saying, can you help me figure this out?
- 7:26You know?
- 7:27And it's interesting how so many times as I start to wake up the next morning, and sometimes it's really early, you know, 4:35, sometimes 3 in the morning.
- 7:40But all of a sudden, these little thoughts will come into my mind, have you tried this?
- 7:45Or what about this?
- 7:46And I'm like, oh, my goodness, yes.
- 7:51So sometimes God will answer me first thing in the morning before phones or anything else.
- 8:00Is Turned on to distract me.
- 8:01It's like, I've got your attention now.
- 8:03Here's your thought, here's your answer, here's an idea.
- 8:07And so I try to remember and write those things down, because that's often how God speaks to me.
- 8:15Now.
- 8:15He may speak to different people different ways.
- 8:17I'm just sharing how he often answers and shares ideas and thoughts in my mind first thing in the morning.
- 8:24And there I will be honest, there have been times when it's like too early and I'm like, will you remind me of this when I wake up and I roll over and go back to sleep?
- 8:35But then I'm waking up, okay, remind me what that was again so I can write it down and act on it.
- 8:42But yeah, it's all about being intentional.
- 8:46And sometimes that intentionality happens in the heart of the moment.
- 8:51We have all been in those stressful situations where we don't know what to say in those moments.
- 8:57A quiet one thought prayer can change everything.
- 9:02This person has posed a question that I don't know how to answer.
- 9:06It's a stressful situation.
- 9:07I don't know how to solve this.
- 9:09Or a kid has.
- 9:10One of my children has come to me and I'm just like, I don't know how to react to whatever they're, you know, venting or sharing with me right now.
- 9:18And those silent prayers when I'm like, lord, please help me know what to say, guide me that I can say the right thing, that is also answered.
- 9:30Because something will pop into my mind.
- 9:32And all of a sudden I find myself saying something, and I'll look back on the conversation and go, that so was not me.
- 9:40That was an answer to my prayers.
- 9:42It was God putting thoughts and ideas into my mind of what to say and how to help whoever it is that I'm talking to resolve whatever conflict or stress or whatever.
- 9:55And so that is another way that we can both communicate to God in our thoughts, but also that he can help us through our thoughts.
- 10:03But it requires us inviting him in, you know, will you help me with this?
- 10:07And it's just a super fast prayer that is very often answered.
- 10:13I love that.
- 10:14I love that.
- 10:14I love that when we open our mouths, God will fill it if we ask.
- 10:19And I think that that's beautiful.
- 10:21So, my friends, God is speaking to you through your thoughts more often than you probably realize.
- 10:28Whether it's a nudge to bring someone flowers or the words to say to a struggling child, God is filling your mind with light.
- 10:37Remember, trust the first voice, ignore the second.
- 10:41And keep a pen ready for those early morning downloads.
