- 0:10Speaker 1: Hello again, everybody. Welcome to this edition of Birds Weekly,
- 0:14Speaker 1: presented by the Inside the Birds. That word for my man,
- 0:17Speaker 1: my friend, my colleague, Ray Deninger. I'm Derek Gunn. We
- 0:20Speaker 1: are hitched the home stretch of the twenty twenty five
- 0:24Speaker 1: NFL season. And Wow, what a game it was in Buffalo.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Nail bider, hearts, stopping highs and lows, miscues, you name it.
- 0:33Speaker 1: This game entailed it all. And Ray, the first thing
- 0:36Speaker 1: I have to ask you is did the Eagles win
- 0:38Speaker 1: this game? Or did Buffalo lose this game? I mean
- 0:41Speaker 1: a thirty yard fumble, a blocked extra point, Josh Allen
- 0:45Speaker 1: getting tackled at the goal line, a failed two point
- 0:48Speaker 1: conversion when they should have gone for the extra point
- 0:50Speaker 1: and gone to overtime because the Eagles defense was gassed.
- 0:53Speaker 1: So I ask you again, my friend, did the Eagles
- 0:55Speaker 1: win this game or the Bills lose this game?
- 1:00Speaker 2: It's an interesting way to look at it, because you could,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I mean, you really could look at it that way.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I would, I would probably say, and it's hard to
- 1:11Speaker 2: say that you won the game when you didn't complete
- 1:13Speaker 2: a pass in the whole second half. Oh, I would say.
- 1:17Speaker 2: And we'll get to that, But I would say the
- 1:21Speaker 2: Eagles won the game with their defense. I would say
- 1:24Speaker 2: that if you asked me what was the difference in
- 1:26Speaker 2: this game, it was the Eagles defense. I mean they
- 1:28Speaker 2: played they played really good. I mean, they've been very
- 1:32Speaker 2: good all year, with the exception Chicago game, They've been
- 1:35Speaker 2: really good all year, but I think this might have
- 1:38Speaker 2: been their best. I mean, to shut down a team
- 1:41Speaker 2: like the Bills that were averaging twenty nine points a game,
- 1:46Speaker 2: number one rushing offense in football, I mean to shut
- 1:50Speaker 2: them down the way they shut them down. Yeah, I
- 1:54Speaker 2: would say the Eagles won this game. I really would,
- 1:56Speaker 2: and I think it was kind of a statement a
- 2:00Speaker 2: win for them going into the postseason. I know that
- 2:03Speaker 2: a lot of people are saying, you know, they've got
- 2:04Speaker 2: the Division one, they're in the playoffs, it's not that
- 2:07Speaker 2: big a deal. But no, I think I think it was.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I mean, yes, it was. You know, went over went
- 2:13Speaker 2: over the Raiders, Okay, went over Washington. Okay, if they
- 2:17Speaker 2: did some things that looked good, but come on, those
- 2:21Speaker 2: teams are what they are. I mean, this was going
- 2:23Speaker 2: on the road and playing Buffalo in Buffalo in December,
- 2:26Speaker 2: where they never lose up there, at that time of
- 2:30Speaker 2: the year. I mean they had they had a run
- 2:33Speaker 2: of twenty six and two in games late December games
- 2:38Speaker 2: up in that stadium, So nobody goes up there and
- 2:42Speaker 2: beats them. But for the Eagles to do that, I
- 2:44Speaker 2: think that was a big win. So, yeah, you can
- 2:48Speaker 2: look at it both ways, but the way I look
- 2:49Speaker 2: at it was, to me, this was a w for
- 2:51Speaker 2: the Eagles defense.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I agree with you one hundred percent. Let's stay on
- 2:54Speaker 1: at defense. I think right now, Ray, this this defense
- 2:58Speaker 1: is playoff ready. I think this defense is playing as
- 3:02Speaker 1: well as any defense in the National Football League. I mean,
- 3:05Speaker 1: they sacked Josh Allen five times. They harassed him all
- 3:09Speaker 1: day long, forced him to throw passes a little bit
- 3:12Speaker 1: sooner than he wanted to, head, moving his feet a
- 3:15Speaker 1: lot more than he probably wanted to. And the thing
- 3:18Speaker 1: I love about this unit, Ray, is you know, when
- 3:21Speaker 1: you look at a lot of top defenses, they rely
- 3:24Speaker 1: on maybe two or three guys to make significant plays
- 3:27Speaker 1: in games. This is a unit that doesn't rely on
- 3:31Speaker 1: just a few guys. It's a complete unit that compliments
- 3:36Speaker 1: each other very well, no matter who's on that field,
- 3:38Speaker 1: no matter how many rotations they put on a football field.
- 3:41Speaker 1: It's a unit that compliments each other well, from the
- 3:44Speaker 1: trenches to the linebackers to the back end of this defense.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they don't have the one big sack guy.
- 3:51Speaker 2: You know, they don't have one big guy that's got
- 3:54Speaker 2: nineteen twenty twenty one sacks. But as a unit's week thirteen,
- 4:01Speaker 2: they have the most sacks in the NFL. I don't
- 4:03Speaker 2: know how many people realize that, but they do. I mean,
- 4:05Speaker 2: since week thirteen, they have twenty sacks, which is more
- 4:10Speaker 2: than any other team in the league. So they're getting
- 4:13Speaker 2: they're getting pressure, and they're getting a pass rush, and
- 4:15Speaker 2: it's not just from one guy, but it's from the
- 4:17Speaker 2: whole unit. And you know, that's what you need, whether
- 4:21Speaker 2: it's from one guy or whether it's from your whole defense.
- 4:24Speaker 2: That's the kind of pressure that you need to beat
- 4:26Speaker 2: the kinds of quarterbacks you're going to see in the postseason,
- 4:29Speaker 2: you know. And I always I remember one time interviewing
- 4:34Speaker 2: Bill Walsh, the great Bill Walsh, and asking him what
- 4:43Speaker 2: he considered to be the single most defining characteristic of
- 4:48Speaker 2: winning football games in a National Football League. And I
- 4:52Speaker 2: expected him to say something about the offense, because he
- 4:56Speaker 2: is the father of the West Coast offense. I mean
- 4:58Speaker 2: all that stuff in s Francisco. You always think about
- 5:01Speaker 2: him and that beautiful rhythm passing game that he built
- 5:05Speaker 2: out there. His answer to me was that the thing
- 5:11Speaker 2: that in his mind that determined winning and losing football
- 5:14Speaker 2: games was pass rush in the fourth quarter. He said,
- 5:18Speaker 2: that's he said, if you asked me, what is the
- 5:21Speaker 2: criteria and the defining characteristic of teams that win championships
- 5:26Speaker 2: is not the offensive side of the ball, it's pass
- 5:29Speaker 2: rush in the fourth quarter, being able to get pressure
- 5:33Speaker 2: on the on the on the other team's passer at
- 5:35Speaker 2: that critical moment of the game. I always found that interesting,
- 5:38Speaker 2: and it's sort of just reinforced what I was thinking
- 5:40Speaker 2: that here you have the master of all offense and
- 5:44Speaker 2: pro football starting in the eighties and carrying on, and
- 5:47Speaker 2: yet he's talking about what wins games is the guys
- 5:51Speaker 2: on the other side and their ability to get pressure
- 5:55Speaker 2: and break down my offense. And that's true. And right now,
- 6:00Speaker 2: with the way they're playing and the kind of contributions
- 6:04Speaker 2: they're getting from all those guys up there on multiple levels,
- 6:09Speaker 2: then you know they're they're going into the playoffs well armed.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I think you know, they're they're going to be They're
- 6:17Speaker 2: going to be a very tough out in the postseason.
- 6:20Speaker 2: You know, the offense. You worry about the offense a
- 6:23Speaker 2: little bit, how many points will they be able to score,
- 6:26Speaker 2: move the ball, that kind of thing, But their defense
- 6:29Speaker 2: will keep them in every game.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You know, Ray, you mentioned words like sacks, pass rush pressure.
- 6:38Speaker 1: The five sacks they got on Josh Allen on Sunday
- 6:42Speaker 1: was with the four men front, the twenty sacks they've
- 6:45Speaker 1: gotten over the last five games, four man front. If
- 6:50Speaker 1: they can get that kind of consistent pressure on quarterbacks
- 6:53Speaker 1: in the playoff where they can drop seven back in
- 6:55Speaker 1: coverage in flood lanes and zones, so quarterbacks can't fine
- 7:00Speaker 1: guys sitting down in holes or timing routes, taking away
- 7:03Speaker 1: crossing routes or curl in routes. Man, that's a huge
- 7:07Speaker 1: advantage for this team is they start to play some
- 7:09Speaker 1: of these upper echelon quarterbacks in the playoffs.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. And you know one of the things
- 7:15Speaker 2: that and that was I noticed that that it was
- 7:18Speaker 2: it was pressure from the down four. That's where he
- 7:20Speaker 2: was getting it from. And that's that's the way Vic
- 7:24Speaker 2: Vangio likes to play. I mean, he's not a guy
- 7:27Speaker 2: if if you look at over the course really of
- 7:29Speaker 2: his whole career, in the many stops that he's had
- 7:33Speaker 2: for as effective as he has been and how consistently
- 7:38Speaker 2: his defenses regardless of wherever he is, they're always in
- 7:41Speaker 2: the top ten somewhere. But if you look at his
- 7:45Speaker 2: blitz ratio, the amount of times that he sends extra
- 7:49Speaker 2: rushers very low. I mean, he he doesn't want to
- 7:52Speaker 2: play that game. He wants to get pressure with his
- 7:55Speaker 2: front four and then play coverage. Sometimes personnel doesn't allow
- 7:59Speaker 2: you to do that. There are even times sometimes this
- 8:02Speaker 2: year when you saw him blitzing a little more than
- 8:05Speaker 2: we normally would. But what you saw in this game
- 8:09Speaker 2: is really kind of the way he wants to play.
- 8:11Speaker 2: And that's the way they're playing going into the postseason.
- 8:15Speaker 2: And I mean they got I think you're right. I mean,
- 8:18Speaker 2: Josh Allen never looked comfortable in this game. Now, part
- 8:21Speaker 2: of it. Part of it was it was clear to
- 8:23Speaker 2: me that his the foot injury, even though he was
- 8:26Speaker 2: playing on it, it was it was bothering him. I mean,
- 8:29Speaker 2: you he's the guy that always likes to move around
- 8:34Speaker 2: and he makes a lot of big plays pass plays
- 8:37Speaker 2: outside the pocket. He didn't make any pass plays outside
- 8:41Speaker 2: the pocket in this game. Thirty five passes he threw.
- 8:44Speaker 2: We're all from in the pocket. Now, he got out
- 8:46Speaker 2: of the pocket and ran some, but he didn't get
- 8:49Speaker 2: outside the pocket and hurt you with the pass. So
- 8:52Speaker 2: he was kind of a station a little bit more
- 8:54Speaker 2: of a stationary target than he normally is. And the
- 8:57Speaker 2: Eagles pass rush took advantage of that, and they were
- 9:00Speaker 2: on him all the time. I just I found it interesting.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I saw a stat that the Eagles are now the
- 9:07Speaker 2: only team that Josh Allen has never beaten. He is
- 9:11Speaker 2: zero to three lifetime against Eagles. He's beaten everybody else,
- 9:15Speaker 2: but he has never beaten the Eagles. And he almost
- 9:18Speaker 2: pulled it off this time. I mean that that final play,
- 9:21Speaker 2: that final two point conversion, if he make if he
- 9:24Speaker 2: if he throws the ball on target, he would have
- 9:27Speaker 2: won this game. But wasn't quite able to pull it off.
- 9:30Speaker 2: But I think you saw that he was. In fact,
- 9:35Speaker 2: I read a story in the Buffalo paper today that
- 9:38Speaker 2: said that when he came off the field, and you've
- 9:43Speaker 2: been to that stadium in Buffalo with the Old Rich Stadium,
- 9:46Speaker 2: and you know, when you come off the field, you
- 9:48Speaker 2: go up that ram uh and both it's it's an
- 9:52Speaker 2: unusual setup because both of the locker rooms are there.
- 9:56Speaker 2: You know, normally one team is at one end of
- 9:58Speaker 2: the stadium and the other team is in Buffalo. Both
- 10:02Speaker 2: teams have to go up up the tunnel together, and
- 10:06Speaker 2: one team's dressing room was on the right and one
- 10:08Speaker 2: team's dressing room was on the left. But when the
- 10:12Speaker 2: when the Bills went, when all the players went up there,
- 10:15Speaker 2: that all the Bills went in the locker room and
- 10:18Speaker 2: Josh Allen did not. He went straight to the x
- 10:20Speaker 2: ray room. UH, and they took him in and they
- 10:23Speaker 2: x rayed his foot because it was it was clear
- 10:26Speaker 2: that he was really hurting at the end of the
- 10:28Speaker 2: game and they wanted to make sure that he hadn't
- 10:30Speaker 2: re injured it. And Scott and Sean Sean McDermott said
- 10:35Speaker 2: in his press conference that the x rays were negative
- 10:37Speaker 2: and there was no further damage, so he'll be he'll
- 10:40Speaker 2: be good to go in the playoffs. But that's how
- 10:42Speaker 2: bad it was that when he came up the tunnel,
- 10:44Speaker 2: he didn't even go to the dressing room. He went
- 10:46Speaker 2: straight in to get more X rays.
- 10:48Speaker 1: You know, right, the the art of tackling has been
- 10:51Speaker 1: a lost start at the NFL level for for years.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But this Eagles team is such a good tackling team.
- 10:59Speaker 1: They could put a video together and when it comes
- 11:02Speaker 1: to form tackling and send them out to high school
- 11:05Speaker 1: colleges and even other pro teams and show them the
- 11:08Speaker 1: correct procedure for tackling. Early on in the season, we
- 11:12Speaker 1: were talking about how shoddy their tackling was. Whatever Vic
- 11:15Speaker 1: Fangio got these guys to do, I'd say the last
- 11:18Speaker 1: five or six games. Man, they don't miss, and especially
- 11:21Speaker 1: Cooper Degene, but as a unit, they don't miss when
- 11:24Speaker 1: it comes to tackling. They get the shoulder pad where
- 11:27Speaker 1: it needs to be, to get their hands where it
- 11:28Speaker 1: needs to be, and if they get their hands on you,
- 11:31Speaker 1: nine times out of ten you're not getting away from
- 11:33Speaker 1: them and it gets you on the turf.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. I mean the only game early in
- 11:39Speaker 2: the season, the tackling, I wouldn't say it was poor,
- 11:44Speaker 2: but you felt that it could be better. Once they
- 11:47Speaker 2: sort of hit their stride at mid season, it just
- 11:50Speaker 2: got better by the week. Now, the only game that
- 11:53Speaker 2: was an outlier was Chicago game. I mean that was
- 11:56Speaker 2: a game where as and especially in the second half
- 12:00Speaker 2: of that game, they it's they tackled poorly. I mean
- 12:04Speaker 2: there's and they and you know, pick FANGI will be
- 12:07Speaker 2: the first one to tell you that that they tackled
- 12:09Speaker 2: poorly in that game. Other than that, you're right, Uh,
- 12:13Speaker 2: in a league where and if you watch all the
- 12:16Speaker 2: games on you know, on Thursday, Saturdays, whatever days they play,
- 12:19Speaker 2: you you look around the league and you watch the
- 12:21Speaker 2: other teams play, tackling around the league is is not good.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I mean the Eagles stand out. When you watch the
- 12:30Speaker 2: Eagles defense, you you look a recognize right away. Boy,
- 12:34Speaker 2: these guys can really tackle. And in a league where
- 12:37Speaker 2: people don't tackle, well, that's a good quality to have.
- 12:40Speaker 2: And when you watch the Eagles, you see that they're
- 12:42Speaker 2: a lot different than these other teams. They're they're fast,
- 12:46Speaker 2: they're physical, and technically they're really good at the at
- 12:51Speaker 2: the art of tackling. And you mentioned Degene. Degene is
- 12:54Speaker 2: a great tackler. He is really really good. Uh. And
- 12:59Speaker 2: Nicole Dean, you know, I thought Nakobe Dean is a
- 13:02Speaker 2: terrific tackler, but anybody saw him play at Georgia, you
- 13:05Speaker 2: knew that, and early in the season when he was
- 13:08Speaker 2: not out there. That was early in the season where
- 13:13Speaker 2: the tackling seemed just a little off. They weren't as
- 13:15Speaker 2: good as crisp a defensive team. When he came in
- 13:19Speaker 2: and he was playing off off ball linebacker and you
- 13:23Speaker 2: got him on the field, it just seemed to make
- 13:26Speaker 2: everybody better because that's the thing he does best, is
- 13:30Speaker 2: that tackling. He's really good at that. And when he
- 13:32Speaker 2: came back, I think it picked up the defensive play
- 13:35Speaker 2: of the whole unit. Now we'll see, you know, he
- 13:40Speaker 2: didn't play in this game. I don't suspect that they're
- 13:42Speaker 2: going to play against Washington, so he'll probably he'll probably
- 13:47Speaker 2: get him back on the field for the playoffs, but
- 13:50Speaker 2: you know, when he comes back, obviously, that's another really
- 13:53Speaker 2: important part of the thing. And also he developed this
- 13:56Speaker 2: year in a way really good blitzer. I mean there
- 14:00Speaker 2: were a couple of games there where Fangio really unleashed
- 14:05Speaker 2: him as an a gap blitzer to great effect. I mean,
- 14:09Speaker 2: he was really good at it. So if I know,
- 14:13Speaker 2: Vic would prefer to get four man pressure, but if
- 14:15Speaker 2: you get into a game where you need a little
- 14:18Speaker 2: bit extra got the Kobe did out there. Has proven
- 14:20Speaker 2: himself to be a guy that not just gets your
- 14:22Speaker 2: pressure off the edge, but get your pressure right up
- 14:24Speaker 2: the middle, which is the worst kind of pressure for
- 14:26Speaker 2: a quarterback to deal with.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Hey, speaking of getting back in the field, good to
- 14:30Speaker 1: see Jalen Carter back in the trenches. He had a sack.
- 14:33Speaker 1: He had a huge blocked extra point. At the time,
- 14:36Speaker 1: you didn't know how big that was going to be,
- 14:38Speaker 1: but man, that was a big blocked extra point. Second
- 14:41Speaker 1: time this season he's blocked extra point or field goal.
- 14:45Speaker 1: This defensive you and had played very well without him,
- 14:47Speaker 1: but Ray, when he's in the trenches, the way he
- 14:50Speaker 1: collapses a pocket, this defense takes his game to another
- 14:55Speaker 1: level with him battling in the trenches down there.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you I would say that this. I think everybody
- 15:02Speaker 2: expected him because he was so good last year. I
- 15:05Speaker 2: think everybody expected him to take his game up to
- 15:07Speaker 2: another level and be a dominant player for seventeen weeks
- 15:11Speaker 2: this year, and I think largely because of the injuries,
- 15:14Speaker 2: he wasn't that. But you saw in this game now
- 15:18Speaker 2: that he had taken some he had missed some games.
- 15:21Speaker 2: He had a chance to rest up, get treatment on
- 15:24Speaker 2: his shoulders that he came back, and he really kind
- 15:26Speaker 2: of resembled Dylan Carter that we remember last year and
- 15:30Speaker 2: especially in the postseason. And yeah, when he's playing that way,
- 15:34Speaker 2: he's a huge difference maker. And the big sack that
- 15:38Speaker 2: he got on Allen in this game is just I mean,
- 15:42Speaker 2: there's evidence of why you can't if you're an offensive
- 15:47Speaker 2: coordinator or an offensive line coach, under no circumstance, can
- 15:50Speaker 2: you try and block him with one guy, you know,
- 15:53Speaker 2: And that's what you saw there. I think the Eagles
- 15:55Speaker 2: came out with sort of a six man look which
- 15:58Speaker 2: kind of spread out the protection and gave Carter a
- 16:02Speaker 2: rare one on one with the guard and he just
- 16:05Speaker 2: I mean, the guy had no chance and and nor
- 16:08Speaker 2: did Josh Allen. I mean when he came through. When
- 16:10Speaker 2: he came through there, it was it was a big
- 16:12Speaker 2: time sack. That's getting him back, You're right. I mean
- 16:16Speaker 2: they were able to weather it pretty well with the
- 16:18Speaker 2: guys in their defensive line. And full credit to Ojomo
- 16:22Speaker 2: and Jordan Davis playing a ton of snaps in there,
- 16:25Speaker 2: you know, And you're a good friend, Brandon Graham playing
- 16:29Speaker 2: the tackle position. I mean they they more than got by.
- 16:33Speaker 2: I mean they did well. But this guy, everybody knows
- 16:36Speaker 2: what he is and everybody knows how he can take
- 16:38Speaker 2: a game over, and you saw evidence of that the
- 16:40Speaker 2: other day. I thought that. I thought Brady made an
- 16:43Speaker 2: interesting point in his commentary when on the on the
- 16:47Speaker 2: block Pat, when you saw the effort that Carter made,
- 16:50Speaker 2: I mean coming through and then jumping and getting that
- 16:52Speaker 2: kind of extension and tipping the ball. You know, Brady
- 16:56Speaker 2: made a point about these are the kinds of things
- 16:59Speaker 2: that really good teams do. They never they play every
- 17:04Speaker 2: snap to the hill. You know, sometimes you see a
- 17:06Speaker 2: team they give up a touchdown, the other team's lining
- 17:09Speaker 2: up for an extra point. You know, guys just kind
- 17:11Speaker 2: of push and they they're not really busting it to
- 17:14Speaker 2: try and block the pat because we know what are
- 17:17Speaker 2: the chances you're going to block it? Right, But really
- 17:19Speaker 2: really good teams, they really really hungry teams are trying
- 17:22Speaker 2: to win a championship. They're playing all out to get
- 17:26Speaker 2: to try and block that PAT. And it doesn't seem
- 17:28Speaker 2: at the time like it's that big a deal. It's
- 17:30Speaker 2: one sticking point, but in a game like this, you
- 17:33Speaker 2: saw what a difference that that made. I mean that
- 17:36Speaker 2: block changed all the decision making in the fourth quarter.
- 17:39Speaker 2: And that's what you get when teams are giving you
- 17:42Speaker 2: one hundred percent effort on every snap.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Hey, it's that time of the year that everyone's trying
- 17:46Speaker 3: to clean up their habits and that includes me. Honestly,
- 17:49Speaker 3: having one less drink never felt easier. Instead of pouring
- 17:53Speaker 3: a cocktail, I just reach for souls out of office drinks.

- 21:07Speaker 1: So we go from the highest of highs to the
- 21:09Speaker 1: lowest of lows and Ray. We have to talk about
- 21:13Speaker 1: this lethargic offense. You know, the first half of this game,
- 21:18Speaker 1: I honestly thought it would be a carryover from the
- 21:21Speaker 1: Raiders in Washington game and that this offense was clicking
- 21:26Speaker 1: in that first half. I mean, they were against some
- 21:28Speaker 1: real estate in the running game, they were making a
- 21:32Speaker 1: few passes that they had to make to sustain drives.
- 21:35Speaker 1: They went to the locker room with the thirteen to
- 21:37Speaker 1: zhing league, and then all of a sudden, Ray the
- 21:40Speaker 1: second half comes around. This team can't stay on the field,
- 21:45Speaker 1: they can't move the chains, they can't run the football
- 21:49Speaker 1: on a defensive front that was giving up one hundred
- 21:52Speaker 1: and forty four yards a game on the ground. And Ray.
- 21:57Speaker 1: For the life of me, I don't know how to
- 21:59Speaker 1: describe what I saw for the last thirty minutes. How
- 22:02Speaker 1: do you have the football only eight minutes and forty
- 22:04Speaker 1: five seconds. Some people are trying to say, well, the
- 22:07Speaker 1: weather was bad, Buffalo played the same weather. They sustained
- 22:10Speaker 1: drives in that fourth quarter when they had to. This
- 22:13Speaker 1: offense could not sustain a drive to save its life.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I don't get it, Ray, Yeah, I kind of thought
- 22:22Speaker 2: the way you felt. I thought the offense in the
- 22:25Speaker 2: first half. Yeah, I mean, they had three consecutive possessions
- 22:29Speaker 2: where they got points, where they moved the ball down
- 22:32Speaker 2: the field and got some first downs, converted some third downs.
- 22:37Speaker 2: You know, Hurts made some good tough throws under those
- 22:39Speaker 2: conditions and touchdown field goal, field goal thirteen to nothing
- 22:44Speaker 2: at the half. That's pretty good. You know, the offense
- 22:46Speaker 2: looks pretty offense looks great, the defense looks great, and
- 22:49Speaker 2: the offense looks pretty good. Well, you come out in
- 22:52Speaker 2: the second half and the offense was a no show,
- 22:55Speaker 2: you know, I mean, you went the whole second half,
- 22:57Speaker 2: didn't complete a pass, no first down in the second half.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Now it's I thought that. I mean, it's this is
- 23:06Speaker 2: oversimplifying it, but for the lack of a better way
- 23:09Speaker 2: of explaining it, the play calling just got way too conservative.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I thought this thing, and I think some of it
- 23:17Speaker 2: was dictated by the conditions, which in the second half
- 23:20Speaker 2: got worse. We saw that, and I think the other
- 23:23Speaker 2: part of it was the field position where the drives
- 23:27Speaker 2: were starting was not particularly good. And I think, you know,
- 23:32Speaker 2: I think after that Chargers game, I think the coaches,
- 23:36Speaker 2: the offensive coaches got together and just said, you know what,
- 23:42Speaker 2: this is the only way we can lose games is
- 23:44Speaker 2: if we turn the ball over. Can't do that, you know.
- 23:47Speaker 2: So our strategy moving forward is we're just not going
- 23:50Speaker 2: to turn the ball over and we're not going to
- 23:52Speaker 2: ask our quarterback to do things that would lead to turnovers,
- 23:56Speaker 2: you know. And I think that was especially with the
- 23:58Speaker 2: weather conditions up there. I think that with Nick Sirianni
- 24:01Speaker 2: and Kevin Bittulo and all the other offensive coaches, when
- 24:05Speaker 2: they talked, they said, look, we're thirteen points, we're up,
- 24:08Speaker 2: we're up two touchdowns here. The only way, the only
- 24:12Speaker 2: way Buffalo Buffalo is not going to drive the ball
- 24:14Speaker 2: down the field on our defense. The only way they're
- 24:16Speaker 2: going to get back in the game is if we
- 24:18Speaker 2: turn it to start taking some riskier plays, try and
- 24:22Speaker 2: keep the offense open, you know, ask the quarterback to
- 24:24Speaker 2: throw the ball more and make a couple of mistakes,
- 24:28Speaker 2: give them some turnover and get them back in the game.
- 24:30Speaker 2: I really think that that that a little bit of
- 24:33Speaker 2: what happened in Los Angeles had stayed with them to
- 24:36Speaker 2: the point where they just said, once we got the lead,
- 24:39Speaker 2: we're not turn turnovers are going to beat us. We're
- 24:41Speaker 2: not going to turn the ball over. And they sort
- 24:43Speaker 2: of reverted into that way of thinking again. And in
- 24:45Speaker 2: the second half they just shut it down. I mean,
- 24:47Speaker 2: you saw some of it was just the play calling.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I mean they had, uh you know, remember they had
- 24:53Speaker 2: the one play they were like third and eleven or something,
- 24:56Speaker 2: and they ran like a give up draw play to to.
- 25:00Speaker 1: To the other the third running back Shipley.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Yeah, they ran kind of a give up handoff play
- 25:10Speaker 2: that there's no chance you have. There's no chance in
- 25:13Speaker 2: the world you're gonna get a first down there. But
- 25:15Speaker 2: they're just saying, look, well, let's run this and then
- 25:17Speaker 2: we're gonna punt it. You know, we're not even thinking
- 25:19Speaker 2: about trying to get a first down. We're just gonna
- 25:20Speaker 2: run in a punt and instead of in that situation, Okay,
- 25:26Speaker 2: it's not ideal if you're a third and long, but
- 25:30Speaker 2: run some kind of a pass play and if there's
- 25:34Speaker 2: and who knows, somebody might get open and you might
- 25:36Speaker 2: convert it. But if it's not there, just have Hurts
- 25:39Speaker 2: throw it away and then you're gonna punt it anyhow.
- 25:41Speaker 2: But you know, okay, it's gonna be punting it from
- 25:44Speaker 2: there instead of two yards forward. Give you, but at
- 25:47Speaker 2: least give yourself a chance to convert the third down play.
- 25:49Speaker 2: They didn't, so they weren't even thinking about that kind
- 25:52Speaker 2: of thing. And I just don't know how you can
- 25:55Speaker 2: do that when the team you're playing against is the
- 25:58Speaker 2: team that's averaging twenty nine points a game, and their
- 26:02Speaker 2: their calling card all year has been winning games coming
- 26:05Speaker 2: from behind in the second half. Now you can just say,
- 26:08Speaker 2: we'll just keep going three and out, three and out,
- 26:10Speaker 2: three and out, three and out, and that's fine. Our
- 26:12Speaker 2: defense is going to win it for us. Really, I
- 26:14Speaker 2: almost came back to bite you at the end.
- 26:17Speaker 1: You know you you mentioned play calling, but I will
- 26:22Speaker 1: expand to that and say was it play calling or
- 26:25Speaker 1: was it execution? Uh? Cam Jurgens looked like a matador
- 26:30Speaker 1: with a cape in terms of letting d tackles just
- 26:33Speaker 1: run by him. I thought Steen had the worst game
- 26:36Speaker 1: he's had this season. I thought route running was poor.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I thought guys were just you know, half asking when
- 26:43Speaker 1: it comes the route running. Obviously, the running game had
- 26:48Speaker 1: nowhere to go. I mean there were a number of
- 26:50Speaker 1: times when the ball was snapped and a red jersey
- 26:54Speaker 1: was in the backfield before Saquon even touched the ball,
- 26:58Speaker 1: So you know, those players were not going anyway. So
- 27:01Speaker 1: how much of it was play calling and comparison to
- 27:04Speaker 1: how much of it was execution.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it had to go hand in hand.
- 27:12Speaker 2: I mean there was I think even Sirianni sort of
- 27:16Speaker 2: alluded to that that the execution was poor. And it was,
- 27:20Speaker 2: you know, for the offensive line that I thought had
- 27:24Speaker 2: made some strides in the previous couple of weeks, I thought,
- 27:28Speaker 2: especially the second half of that game was a step back.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Jurgens really struggled, Steen really struggled. I mean it was
- 27:37Speaker 2: that was really true. And you know, you win the game.
- 27:42Speaker 2: It's a big win, a tough spot and a good
- 27:46Speaker 2: win that keeps you alive for the number two seed.
- 27:50Speaker 2: But you know that to me is the one worry
- 27:55Speaker 2: that comes out of this is this offensive I mean,
- 27:59Speaker 2: this is now this is now an ongoing thing for
- 28:02Speaker 2: this whole season. This isn't like one week or oh
- 28:05Speaker 2: that just kind of oh yeah, that was kind of
- 28:07Speaker 2: a bad week. We've seen this now a number of
- 28:11Speaker 2: times where there'll be a good half and then the
- 28:14Speaker 2: next half the offense just turtles up, you know, and
- 28:18Speaker 2: it's and then the defense is hanging on, fighting tooth
- 28:22Speaker 2: and nail the whole second half to protect whatever lead.
- 28:24Speaker 1: You have.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Okay, I mean, you've gotten this far, you won yourself
- 28:28Speaker 2: eleven games, and you're into the playoffs. All well and good,
- 28:31Speaker 2: but at some point you got to figure in the
- 28:35Speaker 2: playoffs that that's going to get you. You know, you
- 28:40Speaker 2: need your offense. The defense has given you four quarters
- 28:43Speaker 2: every week. I mean, you can book that, but you
- 28:48Speaker 2: need the offense to be give you four quarters too.
- 28:50Speaker 2: If you're really, if you really fully intend to make
- 28:53Speaker 2: another run and get back at the super Bowl and
- 28:55Speaker 2: what you saw yesterday, Yeah, you got out of there
- 28:57Speaker 2: with the win, But is that the kind of football
- 29:00Speaker 2: it's gonna win for you in the postseason? Forget you
- 29:02Speaker 2: a big game. Probably not.
- 29:05Speaker 1: You know, there's too much talent, too much money tied
- 29:08Speaker 1: into this offense for this offense to be that bland.
- 29:13Speaker 1: You have a thousand yard rusher, you have a thousand
- 29:15Speaker 1: yard receiver, you have another receiver who's about to pass
- 29:18Speaker 1: a thousand yard mark in receiving. You have a two
- 29:20Speaker 1: hundred and fifty million dollar quarterback. Now, offensive line has
- 29:24Speaker 1: been a problem, yes, which you still have talent along
- 29:27Speaker 1: the offensive line as well. You could tell at the
- 29:30Speaker 1: end of this game when Buffalo started putting its drives
- 29:33Speaker 1: together that this Eagles defense, as well as it had
- 29:35Speaker 1: played all game long, it was gassed. That's why I
- 29:39Speaker 1: was a little bit surprised when Sean McDermott decided to
- 29:42Speaker 1: go for two instead of taking extra point for us
- 29:44Speaker 1: in the overtime and see if you can stick it
- 29:47Speaker 1: to the Eagles in overtime. But as you just alluded to,
- 29:51Speaker 1: you know, we've seen this too many times where the
- 29:53Speaker 1: offense has been has had to be on the field
- 29:56Speaker 1: way too long and yet make a play at at
- 29:59Speaker 1: the most opportunit time to save the day for this offense.
- 30:03Speaker 1: In the second season, you can't rely on that against
- 30:07Speaker 1: several of these offenses you potentially could face, or you're
- 30:10Speaker 1: gonna be one and done. Is that simple. You're gonna
- 30:12Speaker 1: be one and done if this continues. This has been
- 30:15Speaker 1: going on too long all season. And then to have
- 30:18Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni say after the game, well, you know, when
- 30:20Speaker 1: things are going bad, the offense is stagnant, you know,
- 30:23Speaker 1: I gotta have more conversations with the offensive coordinator on
- 30:25Speaker 1: the sideline. Shouldn't you be doing it the whole game anyway?
- 30:28Speaker 1: I mean, you should be doing it from the first
- 30:30Speaker 1: game of the season, whether it's your OC or your DC.
- 30:33Speaker 1: When the series is over, you talk to him about it.
- 30:36Speaker 1: What's working, right, what do you think we need to do.
- 30:38Speaker 1: That's part of your job as the as the architect
- 30:41Speaker 1: of a football.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Team, right. I agree. And to your point about Seawn's
- 30:47Speaker 2: decision to go for the two right there, yeah, I
- 30:53Speaker 2: was surprised. I was surprised. I understand sort of his
- 30:58Speaker 2: saying was, you know, we had the moment them. You know,
- 31:00Speaker 2: our offense was moving the ball, their defense was sort
- 31:04Speaker 2: of on its heels and all that stuff. So I
- 31:06Speaker 2: felt like, you got we can, we can, we can,
- 31:10Speaker 2: we can win it right here, you know, and you
- 31:13Speaker 2: put everything on one play. I I would not have
- 31:18Speaker 2: done that. I would have kicked the pat taken it
- 31:21Speaker 2: to overtime because the Eagles offense had shut down the
- 31:26Speaker 2: Eagles even if they got with if even they got
- 31:28Speaker 2: the ball in this in the overtime period, what are
- 31:31Speaker 2: you going to do? I mean, how many times have
- 31:32Speaker 2: you seen that? It's you know, wait, if you're going
- 31:34Speaker 2: to flip the switch now and all of a sudden,
- 31:36Speaker 2: the offense is gonna come out, it's going to start rolling.
- 31:38Speaker 1: No.
- 31:39Speaker 2: I mean, the offense to me was I had the
- 31:42Speaker 2: feeling if you had to come back and play another
- 31:44Speaker 2: quarter and the offense went back on the field was
- 31:45Speaker 2: going to be the same thing. The offense was gone.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Uh and whereas the Bills offense had been coming on.
- 31:52Speaker 2: And I really think if that had gone to an
- 31:55Speaker 2: extra period, I think Buffalo would have won.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh.
- 31:58Speaker 2: And but you know, Sewan decides to roll the dice
- 32:01Speaker 2: on one play and then wound up losing it. But
- 32:04Speaker 2: I was a little bit surprised by that decision. But
- 32:09Speaker 2: to the bigger question here of what to do with
- 32:11Speaker 2: the Eagles offense, it's you know, it's worrisome. And you
- 32:18Speaker 2: talked about the high priced talent over there. Listen, you've
- 32:21Speaker 2: got a lot more money invested, You've paid a lot
- 32:23Speaker 2: more money for your offense and you have for your defense,
- 32:26Speaker 2: I mean you, and so in terms of looking ahead
- 32:30Speaker 2: for roster construction next year and how the salary cap
- 32:34Speaker 2: is going to be allocated in things, you know, you
- 32:37Speaker 2: got a lot of really really valuable young defensive players
- 32:41Speaker 2: that you're going to have to sign and keep. You
- 32:43Speaker 2: know how you're going to work that money out now
- 32:46Speaker 2: because you've got a ton of money now on the
- 32:48Speaker 2: offensive side. And this isn't a worry yet because you
- 32:53Speaker 2: have this season to play out. But next year, when
- 32:56Speaker 2: you start with the book keeping and the year after that,
- 32:59Speaker 2: it's going to be a little bit more of a
- 33:00Speaker 2: challenge because you've got a lot of really good young
- 33:02Speaker 2: defensive players and that's a great thing to have, but
- 33:05Speaker 2: you're gonna start paying them when the contract comes up,
- 33:08Speaker 2: and how are you going to make that work with
- 33:10Speaker 2: what you're paying the guys on the offense. That's going
- 33:12Speaker 2: to be a challenge for Howie Roseman.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Can can we take a moment to give some love
- 33:17Speaker 1: to special teams play for the Eagles and two guys
- 33:19Speaker 1: in particular. You look at brad Man seven punts, three
- 33:23Speaker 1: hundred and eighty eight total yards in punting he was
- 33:26Speaker 1: averaging fifty five yards a punt. He hit one sixty five.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Two sixty yarders in that weather, in.
- 33:36Speaker 1: That weather, and he penned. He had two put two
- 33:38Speaker 1: down inside the twenty in a game that was consisting
- 33:44Speaker 1: of sloppy and Clement cole Weather. Field position was paramount,
- 33:51Speaker 1: and man did he did. He put Buffalo in some
- 33:54Speaker 1: long field positions and then Jake Elliott finally refinds his touch,
- 33:58Speaker 1: he hits, he goes two to two in the field goal.
- 34:00Speaker 1: If EBIs is one of those two, it's a different game.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Special teams, to me, which has overlooked a lot of times,
- 34:06Speaker 1: was integral in this particular game. Yeah.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Absolutely, absolutely. Special teams was huge. Uh. And I know
- 34:13Speaker 2: there was a lot of talk this week when the
- 34:15Speaker 2: Pro Bowl teams were announced. Yeah, and you know, the
- 34:19Speaker 2: Eagles had their representatives and there was some talk about, oh,
- 34:24Speaker 2: you know, Jordan Davis shouldn't you know, Jordan Davis had
- 34:27Speaker 2: a real good case to make the team. I agree
- 34:29Speaker 2: with that. Yeah, you Dallas Goddard maybe, I mean, I mean,
- 34:33Speaker 2: you know, ten to eleven touchdown catches, that's a lot,
- 34:36Speaker 2: you know, So there are a lot of people that said,
- 34:38Speaker 2: you know, Why didn't he make the team? Why didn't
- 34:40Speaker 2: he make the team? I was thinking about, man, I
- 34:43Speaker 2: was thinking about it, is there is there a punter
- 34:45Speaker 2: in this in the NFC that's been better and more
- 34:48Speaker 2: consistent he has over the course of the season. I mean,
- 34:51Speaker 2: nobody ever talks about him. And we do talk about
- 34:54Speaker 2: Elliott from time to time, but nobody ever mentions the punter.
- 34:56Speaker 2: And he has been great. And I mean it was
- 35:00Speaker 2: never more evident than yesterday because, as you said, on
- 35:03Speaker 2: a day like that, with the weather being what it was,
- 35:06Speaker 2: you knew that this was going to be a game
- 35:07Speaker 2: where field position was going to be huge. And he,
- 35:12Speaker 2: I mean, he was a big factor in the Eagles
- 35:15Speaker 2: doing that. And I mean the play that the play
- 35:19Speaker 2: that drove me crazy was the one where he punts
- 35:22Speaker 2: the ball and just kills it dead at the one
- 35:26Speaker 2: yard line. It's like, I mean, it was like it
- 35:29Speaker 2: was like a tiger Woods. It was like a tiger
- 35:31Speaker 2: Wood six iron, stopping like six inches from the cup.
- 35:35Speaker 2: You know, he punts it sixty yards and spins it dead.
- 35:40Speaker 2: That that ball, Derek, that ball is dead. It's not
- 35:43Speaker 2: even moving. It's laying at the one yard line. And
- 35:46Speaker 2: one of his own teammates, comes down, picks it up
- 35:49Speaker 2: and steps on the goal line and instead of giving
- 35:52Speaker 2: Buffalo the ball as like the six inch line, which
- 35:54Speaker 2: is right where it was, you give it to him
- 35:57Speaker 2: at the twenty. I mean, that was a huge That
- 36:00Speaker 2: was a huge twenty yards you just gave away there.
- 36:03Speaker 2: And you know, I'm sure that when when Mike Clavey,
- 36:07Speaker 2: the special teams coach, has all those guys in the room,
- 36:11Speaker 2: that that that that they're going to talk about that play.
- 36:13Speaker 2: You gotta use. You gotta be so smarter than that.
- 36:16Speaker 2: You know, man could not have kicked a better ball.
- 36:19Speaker 2: And one of his guys down down downfield makes just
- 36:24Speaker 2: a bonehead play and given and winds up giving Buffalo
- 36:28Speaker 2: a twenty yards twenty yard break and field position.
- 36:31Speaker 1: You know. So now we're down to the final game
- 36:35Speaker 1: of the regular season and the two seed is still
- 36:38Speaker 1: very much in play after Chicago lost a thriller, what
- 36:42Speaker 1: a game that was in San Francisco on Sunday night.
- 36:46Speaker 1: So the Eagles are going to close out the regular
- 36:48Speaker 1: season against Washington. The team is going nowhere, obviously, but
- 36:51Speaker 1: a team that's playing four jobs and a team that
- 36:55Speaker 1: is still still seething after an incident that happened a
- 36:59Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago against the Eagles when they decided
- 37:02Speaker 1: to go for two points in a game that was
- 37:04Speaker 1: already decided, right, and then Quinn, the head coach, says,
- 37:07Speaker 1: you know, that's how they roll, and we'll see him
- 37:10Speaker 1: again in two weeks. I expect this. I expect this
- 37:14Speaker 1: to be a little bit on the extracurriculus side as
- 37:20Speaker 1: these two teams close out the regular season.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I think there's gonna be a lot of stuff
- 37:24Speaker 2: after the whistle, a lot of push and shoven, a
- 37:26Speaker 2: lot of jaw on finger pointing. That was one of
- 37:30Speaker 2: the reasons why. I mean, and we talked about it
- 37:32Speaker 2: a week ago, like, what was Nick Sirianni thinking going
- 37:35Speaker 2: for two there? Yeah, I mean it's it sets off
- 37:38Speaker 2: a skirmish at the moment, I mean after, you know,
- 37:41Speaker 2: after after the play, there's pushing and shoving because and
- 37:45Speaker 2: clearly that Washington was responding to the fact that what
- 37:48Speaker 2: are you doing going for two here? So and then
- 37:50Speaker 2: when it was over, you know, Quinn Dan Quinn says
- 37:53Speaker 2: what he says, we'll see them in two weeks. You know,
- 37:56Speaker 2: why if if you're Nick Sirianni, why give a team
- 38:00Speaker 2: that kind of incentive if you're going to see them
- 38:03Speaker 2: two weeks for a game that could be really important
- 38:06Speaker 2: for you. It doesn't mean anything for them, but it's
- 38:08Speaker 2: really important for you in terms of field, in terms
- 38:10Speaker 2: of postseason play. I mean, it didn't make any sense
- 38:15Speaker 2: why he did it anyway, but given that other part
- 38:19Speaker 2: of it, that it could come back and aunt you
- 38:20Speaker 2: or give a team that should just be mailing it
- 38:23Speaker 2: in and looking forward to the off season. Now all
- 38:26Speaker 2: of a sudden you have put a chip on their shoulder.
- 38:28Speaker 2: It didn't have to be there, you know, why'd you
- 38:31Speaker 2: do that? And so that's what you got here? And
- 38:35Speaker 2: I know there's going there has been already and there
- 38:37Speaker 2: will be more talk about, well how should the Eagles
- 38:40Speaker 2: approach this game? You know, you've got guys that probably
- 38:43Speaker 2: could use arrest. The whole team could probably use the
- 38:45Speaker 2: rest at this point. You know, maybe just maybe just
- 38:48Speaker 2: sit them out, play the backups. You know, who knows
- 38:50Speaker 2: the backups might be able to beat the Washington anyway,
- 38:53Speaker 2: because the Washington they're not. But now to me, and
- 38:57Speaker 2: this is just me, Okay, if the two seed is
- 39:01Speaker 2: in play, I'm playing it. You know, if there's a chance. Listen,
- 39:05Speaker 2: if the Bears had won, if the Bears had won
- 39:09Speaker 2: in San Francisco and wrapped up to then we don't
- 39:12Speaker 2: even have this conversation. If this game, if you're locked
- 39:15Speaker 2: into three, then then everybody sits. I totally get that.
- 39:19Speaker 2: But if there's a chance, if there's a chance and
- 39:22Speaker 2: you could get the number two seed here, which means
- 39:24Speaker 2: the chance of playing two games at home instead of
- 39:26Speaker 2: just won, I think you got to go for it.
- 39:29Speaker 2: I really do. Because even though the Bears are playing
- 39:33Speaker 2: Detroit and Detroit is out of the playoffs and have
- 39:35Speaker 2: had a very disappointing season and they haven't played very well,
- 39:40Speaker 2: I don't think that Detroit's going to lay down in
- 39:43Speaker 2: this game. I think it's been a very frustrating season.
- 39:46Speaker 2: It's been a big disappointment for them from where they
- 39:48Speaker 2: were last year to where they are this year. They're
- 39:51Speaker 2: playing a division fox there. There's a long history between
- 39:53Speaker 2: these two teams, and I don't think Dan Campbell's the
- 39:56Speaker 2: kind of guy that's going to let his team lay
- 39:58Speaker 2: down in this game. I think he's going to say, Okay,
- 40:01Speaker 2: we're not going to the playoffs, but we can spoil
- 40:03Speaker 2: the Bear season, and that's what we're going to do today.
- 40:06Speaker 2: I think I think Detroit. It wouldn't shock me if
- 40:10Speaker 2: Detroit not Chicago off it really would. But I think
- 40:13Speaker 2: on the larger scale, how does this affect the Eagles.
- 40:16Speaker 2: I don't think you even think about that. I think
- 40:18Speaker 2: if you're the Eagles, you're saying, look, there's a chance
- 40:20Speaker 2: that we could get number two. It's absolutely an advantage
- 40:23Speaker 2: to us to be number two. Were to play it
- 40:25Speaker 2: for number two, that's how.
- 40:27Speaker 1: I would go, Well, I can't wait to see it.
- 40:30Speaker 1: You don't know how long the regulars are going to play,
- 40:32Speaker 1: if they're going to play at all, But it is
- 40:34Speaker 1: a divisional matchup, and the Washington Commanders have that proverbial
- 40:38Speaker 1: chip on his shoulders and it's still extant in minds
- 40:41Speaker 1: what the Eagles did just a couple of weeks ago.
- 40:44Speaker 1: And of course we will be back here next week
- 40:46Speaker 1: to talk about the Eagles and the Washington Commanders wrapping
- 40:50Speaker 1: up the twenty twenty five season. Oh, by the way,
- 40:52Speaker 1: this is the last show Ray and I get to
- 40:54Speaker 1: do together this season. Ray has other commitments to take
- 40:57Speaker 1: care of, but I will be back next week with
- 41:00Speaker 1: another co host. But Ray before I let you go.
- 41:02Speaker 1: I just wanted to say it has been my honor,
- 41:04Speaker 1: my privilege, and my pleasure chopping it up talking football
- 41:08Speaker 1: with you in twenty twenty five. And I want to
- 41:11Speaker 1: wish you and your beautiful wife a happy, prosperous and
- 41:14Speaker 1: healthy twenty twenty six.
- 41:16Speaker 2: My friend absolutely right back at you to Gunner. I
- 41:22Speaker 2: when Jeff Mosher called me before the season said I'd
- 41:26Speaker 2: like to put you and Gunner together and do a
- 41:29Speaker 2: weekly I know you do, you know, one or two
- 41:31Speaker 2: of these a year, but we'd like to do it
- 41:33Speaker 2: every week. Would you be willing to do that? I
- 41:35Speaker 2: couldn't say yes fast enough. I mean chance, the chance
- 41:39Speaker 2: to get back together with you and sort of rekindle
- 41:42Speaker 2: the old conversations from back in the day when we
- 41:46Speaker 2: work together on the old pre and post game show.
- 41:49Speaker 2: To do that again and work with you again and
- 41:51Speaker 2: talk Eagles football, it was an absolute joy. I absolutely
- 41:56Speaker 2: loved doing this. It was great to have another season
- 41:58Speaker 2: to work with you and I share the same feelings.
- 42:02Speaker 2: I'm for you and your family and everybody and team
- 42:09Speaker 2: gun I just wanted to say happy holidays and happy
- 42:13Speaker 2: New Year, and the best for a wonderful and Prosperous
- 42:16Speaker 2: twenty twenty six.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Thank you, my friend. I am touched. And on that note,
- 42:21Speaker 1: that will rap up this edition of Birds Weekly, presented
- 42:24Speaker 1: by the Inside the Birds Network. Poe my man, my friend,
- 42:27Speaker 1: my colleague Ray didn't jump, Derek Gunn. We'll see you
- 42:29Speaker 1: next week. So long, everybody,
