Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome into the latest edition of the Inside the Charge podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm Maddi Glab. Today we are joined by veteran cornerback
- 0:06Speaker 1: Tredevius White. It's a great episode. Trey dives into the
- 0:10Speaker 1: dB Dinners, the origin story of that who pays for
- 0:14Speaker 1: these dinners, and the brotherhood that's created by having these dinners.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Trey said, actually the defense shifted gears because of these dinners.
- 0:24Speaker 1: A great answer from him there. We also dive into
- 0:26Speaker 1: how maybe he'll want to do podcasting or on air
- 0:30Speaker 1: stuff after he's done with football. Trey also talks about
- 0:34Speaker 1: how his injuries have helped Maxwell Harriston along the way,
- 0:38Speaker 1: and we discuss Trey's energy in this twenty twenty five season.
- 0:42Speaker 1: You don't want to miss it. Trey, thanks for coming
- 0:53Speaker 1: and hanging out with me. I appreciate it.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Oh yeah, anytime you asked me to do this, Maddie. Look,
- 0:59Speaker 2: I'm glad to be on with you. It's been a
- 1:01Speaker 2: few years. I know it's been I'm back. We can
- 1:04Speaker 2: make this thing official and we can get this thing rolling.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yes, I'm exciting.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Maybe the first of many. I don't know, Trey, Oh
- 1:10Speaker 1: for sure.
- 1:11Speaker 2: For sure, we definitely got something that works. We should
- 1:13Speaker 2: have something that work. I saw what you did with
- 1:15Speaker 2: my old teammate.
- 1:16Speaker 3: So maybe time to step in for sure. I got
- 1:20Speaker 3: to ask them for my blessing.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Okay, well ask them first. Well, Trey practice ends today
- 1:25Speaker 1: and I peek outside and it's all the young kids,
- 1:28Speaker 1: and then it's Trey White still at practice. Why are
- 1:30Speaker 1: you out there for so long?
- 1:32Speaker 2: Well, you know, I still have my routine that I
- 1:34Speaker 2: that I always been doing for years, that that I
- 1:36Speaker 2: like to do after practice that you know, pretty much
- 1:39Speaker 2: give me the confidence knowing that I kind of checked
- 1:41Speaker 2: every box to what I need to do and the
- 1:43Speaker 2: things that I need to cross out as far as mentally,
- 1:46Speaker 2: so I can know that I put a lot of
- 1:48Speaker 2: work in.
- 1:49Speaker 3: So but when I'm.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Out there after practice, like the young guys, like we
- 1:52Speaker 2: just talking about everything but football. But you know, we
- 1:56Speaker 2: do cover some football, but it's it's those are the
- 1:59Speaker 2: times that we that I cherish the most, Yeah, to
- 2:01Speaker 2: be able to talk to the young guys about something
- 2:03Speaker 2: other than football.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Life's outside of football and things like that.
- 2:07Speaker 2: So that's our little abundant time that we get after practice,
- 2:09Speaker 2: you know, because we've just been out there for so
- 2:11Speaker 2: long and everything was ball ball ball, and we're also serious,
- 2:14Speaker 2: so it's always good to find good time to you
- 2:17Speaker 2: know what I mean, check on the person. Yeah, and
- 2:19Speaker 2: those young guys been keeping me young, you know, the
- 2:22Speaker 2: questions that they ask, the questions that I ask them
- 2:24Speaker 2: because I don't pretty much know what's going on in
- 2:26Speaker 2: the young guys young guys world is today, so you know,
- 2:30Speaker 2: they keep me updated on everything like new artists, new
- 2:33Speaker 2: music that's coming out, you know, because I don't really
- 2:35Speaker 2: pay attention to the artists that they listen to nowadays.
- 2:38Speaker 2: So when we're in the locker room and I hear
- 2:40Speaker 2: a song like I go to my phone, try to
- 2:42Speaker 2: go to Shazam and try to put it up here.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Probably like I never heard of that. Yeah, they probably
- 2:47Speaker 3: like you still use that.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, cause I don't know what you guys
- 2:51Speaker 2: listen to. If I hear a song that I like,
- 2:53Speaker 2: I'm gonna try to get it. So yeah, but yeah, no,
- 2:55Speaker 2: it's been fun anytime. You know, after practice, we always
- 2:58Speaker 2: talking and always you know, joking. So and then on Thursdays,
- 3:01Speaker 2: on Thursdays, we have our dB dinner out each and
- 3:03Speaker 2: every week and we find somewhere around around buffalo around
- 3:07Speaker 2: or to park to go and uh, just fellowship and
- 3:09Speaker 2: break bread and that those are the things that you know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: that I cherish the most because you know, that's where
- 3:15Speaker 2: the team is built, that's where the camaraderie is built,
- 3:18Speaker 2: that's where the brotherhood is built.
- 3:19Speaker 3: When we spend our.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Time outside of the field and talking about things that's
- 3:23Speaker 2: bigger than bolved. So those those those times I really cherish,
- 3:27Speaker 2: and uh, those are the things that a lot of
- 3:29Speaker 2: guys miss when they when they're done with the league too.
- 3:31Speaker 2: So I just try to each and every time, just
- 3:34Speaker 2: try to really just be present and also give those
- 3:37Speaker 2: guys my under detention.
- 3:38Speaker 3: For sure.
- 3:39Speaker 1: When you came back to the team, the word on
- 3:41Speaker 1: the street was Trey White has to pay for the
- 3:44Speaker 1: dB dinner because he's back in the room. He's an
- 3:47Speaker 1: NFL veteran. Now this is all coming from Terran. Did
- 3:50Speaker 1: they make you pay for a dinner?
- 3:51Speaker 2: No? So usually how we do it We played Carlett,
- 3:55Speaker 2: So we played Carl Roulette. And that makes the dinner
- 3:58Speaker 2: so much fun because it's like, you know, we come in,
- 4:01Speaker 2: we joke a love, we eat real good food, and
- 4:03Speaker 2: we just keep ordering good food and good food stuff
- 4:06Speaker 2: to go.
- 4:06Speaker 3: But at the end it's the anticipation of who has
- 4:09Speaker 3: to pay for this food. So that's where the fun
- 4:11Speaker 3: come in.
- 4:11Speaker 2: So you know, they try to you know, the young
- 4:14Speaker 2: guys they always you know, we get here, they.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Be like, no, Trey White, you're gonna play this week.
- 4:17Speaker 3: You know what I mean, Big vet, you know what
- 4:18Speaker 3: I mean.
- 4:19Speaker 2: The older you know what, I'll be like, Look, we
- 4:20Speaker 2: gotta stand. We have a tradition here and we're gonna
- 4:23Speaker 2: stick with it. But uh, you know, if a young
- 4:26Speaker 2: guy gets hit with a bill, that's just extreme. I
- 4:29Speaker 2: just try to like throw him a couple hundred bucks
- 4:31Speaker 2: to try to you know, lighting the load. But everybody
- 4:34Speaker 2: had to go through it. So in Terran and Terran
- 4:37Speaker 2: to tell your funny story. So I believe Terren's second
- 4:41Speaker 2: or third year, he got his car got picked like
- 4:45Speaker 2: three times straight.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, three straight weeks his car got picked.
- 4:50Speaker 2: So now we have the rule that you know, if
- 4:52Speaker 2: your car get picked one week, the next week, your
- 4:54Speaker 2: car don't go.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Your car don't.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Well we made the room because of him because he
- 4:59Speaker 2: got hit three straight time. But also if you're late,
- 5:03Speaker 2: if you're late, you get a ten minutes grace period.
- 5:06Speaker 2: So we usually meet like six thirty or six forty five.
- 5:09Speaker 2: So we got ten minutes, and if you are late
- 5:12Speaker 2: those ten minutes, like you gotta pay half.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Oh but your card still goes in the thing.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Okay, so you could end up playing half full, but
- 5:21Speaker 2: for sure you're playing half. So I make sure that
- 5:24Speaker 2: I'm not giving up no freebies. Man, it's like I'm.
- 5:27Speaker 3: On time, I'm attentive. I'm gonna make sure I have
- 5:30Speaker 3: my card because if you don't have your card too.
- 5:32Speaker 2: The next time, you gotta pay. So a lot of
- 5:34Speaker 2: guys try to leave a call and use their idea.
- 5:38Speaker 2: They try to use that No, you gotta use your
- 5:39Speaker 2: debit card. But those times are the best times, like
- 5:43Speaker 2: because we just sit and chill and just relax. We
- 5:46Speaker 2: get to watch the Thursday Night Game, a little bit
- 5:48Speaker 2: of Thursday Night Game. We just just break bread and
- 5:50Speaker 2: just have fun and just in chat. And those are
- 5:53Speaker 2: the times that I chairs. I just love the DB's
- 5:55Speaker 2: Dinners on Thursday.
- 5:56Speaker 1: The dB Dinners have been going on for a long time.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Started that.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Michael Hyde and Jordan Poorter, those guys must be twenty seventeen.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Then we didn't start that year. I think the first
- 6:09Speaker 2: year we started had to be twenty nineteen, twenty nineteen,
- 6:11Speaker 2: probably my third year, and it's been going on since then,
- 6:14Speaker 2: and man like I feel like that's when our defense
- 6:18Speaker 2: turned the page. Like I just feel like that twenty
- 6:21Speaker 2: nineteen year where you know, where we.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Made it a standard each and every Thursday, like we.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Set time aside no matter how long we're in this building,
- 6:28Speaker 2: Like we're still gonna set aside to hang out outside
- 6:31Speaker 2: of the field.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Even though we've been here together all day.
- 6:33Speaker 2: But those those Thursday nights are just like they're just
- 6:37Speaker 2: essential to like what we do as a team, how
- 6:40Speaker 2: we connect as a team, how we you know, care
- 6:43Speaker 2: about each other, and just how authentically like the conversations go,
- 6:47Speaker 2: and just how like just the love that we share
- 6:50Speaker 2: to each with each other, Like it just makes it
- 6:52Speaker 2: even more like because of a brotherhood. Because anytime, like
- 6:57Speaker 2: you don't just break bread with anybody, like allow anybody
- 6:59Speaker 2: just you into your home, yeah, in your home or
- 7:02Speaker 2: just because sometimes we had a few people's home before,
- 7:05Speaker 2: so like you don't just let break bread with anybody.
- 7:07Speaker 2: So like when you allow somebody in your home, or
- 7:09Speaker 2: you go break bread with somebody and have dinner with
- 7:11Speaker 2: them for extensively point of time. I think that you know,
- 7:15Speaker 2: those are important people, and then you try to cherish
- 7:17Speaker 2: the moment.
- 7:17Speaker 1: How did breaking bread off the field shift the defensive
- 7:21Speaker 1: mindset on the field to become this lockdown defense that
- 7:24Speaker 1: since twenty nineteen you guys rank top ten and a
- 7:27Speaker 1: lot of figures.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I just think that anytime you know, first of all,
- 7:30Speaker 2: the job that we have is hard, and so first
- 7:33Speaker 2: thing you got to do is acknowledge that. But then
- 7:36Speaker 2: you know, when you care about the people that you know,
- 7:38Speaker 2: you go to work. I always say this, it just
- 7:40Speaker 2: means a lot more, Like you care more. You you
- 7:44Speaker 2: don't want to let the guy next to you down,
- 7:46Speaker 2: so you know, come in. You know, Michael and Jordan
- 7:50Speaker 2: tarn tremain ed miss twenty nineteen, Matt malan or we
- 7:55Speaker 2: could just go on and on, like even Matt used
- 7:57Speaker 2: to join us in the DB's DV Donner. Sometimes it's
- 8:00Speaker 2: just that connectivity that we have and it's the standard
- 8:02Speaker 2: that we have here in Buffalo that those guys started
- 8:05Speaker 2: in twenty nineteen. But now that Michael has shifted on
- 8:08Speaker 2: to other things, we still have po here.
- 8:11Speaker 3: But the standard is still the standard.
- 8:12Speaker 2: And that's why I just feel like this group and
- 8:15Speaker 2: this team has always been successful because the standard that
- 8:17Speaker 2: we have no matter.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Who's here, plug and play, it's still always there.
- 8:22Speaker 2: And we're still going to continue to do those tradition
- 8:24Speaker 2: with the DV dinners and just hanging out outside of
- 8:26Speaker 2: the field, because I think that when you.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Do that, it just makes on the field so much
- 8:31Speaker 3: more easier.
- 8:32Speaker 2: The communication factor, just knowing what each others are thinking too,
- 8:36Speaker 2: and just how you see a play, how you see ball,
- 8:38Speaker 2: how you see this quarterback, how you see us playing
- 8:40Speaker 2: our coverage in these certain situations of the game. And
- 8:43Speaker 2: I just think that when you have that connectivity off
- 8:46Speaker 2: the field, they just make the things that's on the field.
- 8:48Speaker 3: So much more easier.
- 8:49Speaker 1: You got the bucket hot on, We're chilling, You're giving
- 8:51Speaker 1: me calm, cool, collected energy. Why are you bringing that
- 8:55Speaker 1: into this year?
- 8:56Speaker 2: I mean, I just feel like I be my best
- 8:59Speaker 2: when I'm myself, I play my best ball and I'm
- 9:01Speaker 2: just having fun and just letting my person out of
- 9:04Speaker 2: the show. And I just feel like when me coming
- 9:06Speaker 2: back and just a lot of people heard about that,
- 9:10Speaker 2: and you know, I just want to show that and
- 9:11Speaker 2: I just know how long the season can get, how
- 9:15Speaker 2: just repetitive it can get each and every week.
- 9:17Speaker 3: But I just feel like with me being myself and
- 9:19Speaker 3: just lighting up the room.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Man, you know, we got a lot of young guys
- 9:22Speaker 2: on the team, so they don't know how this NFL
- 9:26Speaker 2: ground is. After week twelve, No, you still have a
- 9:28Speaker 2: whole nother month of football left, well two months probably,
- 9:31Speaker 2: you know, with the playoffs, super Bowl.
- 9:33Speaker 3: So like I just.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I'm just gonna take that on myself to like, you know,
- 9:38Speaker 2: lighting the load, come in, just try to help the
- 9:40Speaker 2: young guys out, you know, because this thing is a marathon.
- 9:42Speaker 2: You know, you don't want to be peaking playing your
- 9:44Speaker 2: basketball Exeptember October. You know, you want to be peaking
- 9:47Speaker 2: in the right time around November, Thanksgiving time, Christmas, December football.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Because so you know, we got a lot of guys
- 9:54Speaker 2: in the locker room that know that. Yeah, so that
- 9:57Speaker 2: message is something that you know that we reiterate to
- 10:00Speaker 2: the young guys.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Knowing like, oh you're tired now, like you know, we
- 10:03Speaker 3: got young, this is young.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Like we're still in the first month of the season,
- 10:06Speaker 2: so we got a lot of ball left. But I
- 10:08Speaker 2: just think that when I have guys like myself just
- 10:10Speaker 2: being ourself, Dion Mad you know j Poe tearing these
- 10:15Speaker 2: guys uh keon.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Even though he's a young guy, he brings a lot
- 10:18Speaker 3: of energy to our team too.
- 10:19Speaker 2: So when we have guys like that and just lighting
- 10:21Speaker 2: a load, because you got to have the healthy balance
- 10:23Speaker 2: of serious and also a little you got to have
- 10:26Speaker 2: a little personality in it too to just have it
- 10:28Speaker 2: to mess to. You don't have one without the other,
- 10:30Speaker 2: because it could be very very very depressive if you
- 10:33Speaker 2: approach the season like that, or you know, the approach
- 10:36Speaker 2: your day like that, or.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Like oh I have to do this.
- 10:39Speaker 2: No, like we get we get to do is we
- 10:41Speaker 2: get to be here, We get to enjoy this and
- 10:44Speaker 2: we get to enjoy this thing that we call football.
- 10:46Speaker 3: And I just I'm excited to be back. I love
- 10:50Speaker 3: it here.
- 10:50Speaker 2: So you can just tell you know, it's a bressive
- 10:53Speaker 2: fresh air. I'm enjoying being back with my teammates. A
- 10:57Speaker 2: lot of guys that I've seen like grow into different roles,
- 11:00Speaker 2: a lot of guys I've seen uh excel their play,
- 11:03Speaker 2: come from practice squad and continue to get better and better.
- 11:06Speaker 2: And it's just a beautiful thing to see when you
- 11:09Speaker 2: can see like how they develop players, really developed them
- 11:13Speaker 2: and put them on a feeling and that development works.
- 11:15Speaker 3: So the machine and the system we have here is
- 11:19Speaker 3: next to no trey.
- 11:20Speaker 1: You talked about the balance that you need to have
- 11:22Speaker 1: in the defensive room. I'm thinking cornerbacks right now. You
- 11:25Speaker 1: bring the energy, Christian Benford brings the seriousness. There is
- 11:29Speaker 1: a yin and yang to you too. How does that work?
- 11:33Speaker 2: Well, you know, you don't want to have too much salt.
- 11:35Speaker 2: You got to have salt and pepper to balance it out.
- 11:38Speaker 2: But I just think that, you know, Cebe's a guy
- 11:42Speaker 2: that you know, he jokes around too. A lot of
- 11:43Speaker 2: a lot of people just think that this guy, you know,
- 11:46Speaker 2: it's just this altered serious guy, but he gives off
- 11:48Speaker 2: this very serious demeanor, but he jokes around.
- 11:51Speaker 3: He has fun too. But I just think he does
- 11:54Speaker 3: a great job of bolling.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Then when it's time to go on the field, he
- 11:57Speaker 2: get does a great job of just leaving that in
- 12:00Speaker 2: in the locker room and on the field. He's That's
- 12:03Speaker 2: why he's this this this great player at this great
- 12:06Speaker 2: cornerback because you know the way his attention to detail,
- 12:09Speaker 2: the way each and every day he approaches the game,
- 12:11Speaker 2: his attitude towards the game, and just the mindset that
- 12:14Speaker 2: he has each and every day.
- 12:15Speaker 3: That's that's why he's who he is. So I just
- 12:18Speaker 3: think that.
- 12:20Speaker 2: He needed me to come in to bring a little
- 12:22Speaker 2: bit out, you know, and I'm gonna bring it out.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I'm gonna bring it. It's there for sure. But you know,
- 12:28Speaker 2: I bring it out because you know, I've been here.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I watched him get drafted. I watch him, you know,
- 12:32Speaker 2: develop and continue to get better and better. But you know,
- 12:36Speaker 2: when he came in as a rookie, like we already
- 12:38Speaker 2: knew this guy was about business. He was well beyond
- 12:41Speaker 2: his years as far as football. I Q, having a
- 12:44Speaker 2: field for the game, understanding formations like understanding coverage, just read,
- 12:49Speaker 2: known how to eliminate things on the run.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Like the guy was beyond his years as far as football.
- 12:54Speaker 2: So it was just that that point of just this
- 12:57Speaker 2: guy is really gonna open his mouth on the field.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Let you we gotta tryin to hear see we gotta
- 13:01Speaker 2: say Chinese just can't point and.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Just go and do your job. You got to say something.
- 13:05Speaker 2: But uh, the guy he talks, I mean, but he's
- 13:08Speaker 2: he's I just love to go go to battle with
- 13:11Speaker 2: him because he gives me confidence too, because he talked
- 13:13Speaker 2: to me between the teen series.
- 13:16Speaker 1: But here he's the guys who fires other guys.
- 13:19Speaker 3: He's for sure, you know, because I wasn't. You know.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I joke around and I'm light hard and I joke
- 13:25Speaker 3: around a lot.
- 13:25Speaker 2: But when it comes to like getting the huddle up, like,
- 13:28Speaker 2: that's not me, I don't really, that's CB, that's Taylor
- 13:31Speaker 2: Rabb that's tearing.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Those guys have.
- 13:33Speaker 2: The speeches to get you fired up to run through
- 13:35Speaker 2: a while, but me, I probably just have everybody just laughing.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Would they huddle with Tavius hight be like before.
- 13:43Speaker 2: The game, Maddie, I can't even tell you because you
- 13:46Speaker 2: know what I know it'll be a lot of joking around,
- 13:48Speaker 2: you know, just lighthearted moments, but you know, in the
- 13:51Speaker 2: midst of a game and trying to get serious and
- 13:53Speaker 2: trying to get into their mode. That's why we know.
- 13:56Speaker 2: We got to know our teammates. My team, though not
- 14:00Speaker 2: with Trey White in the middle of the huddle, because
- 14:02Speaker 2: it's not going to go yeah, So they know the
- 14:05Speaker 2: guys that they need to put in there, so I
- 14:07Speaker 2: just stand to the side there. But when you know,
- 14:08Speaker 2: we get to the locker room and I'm sitting next
- 14:10Speaker 2: to CBO. We're gonna tell all the jokes then. But
- 14:13Speaker 2: those guys do a great job of getting us pumped up,
- 14:15Speaker 2: and that's what I need to But no, I'm not
- 14:18Speaker 2: doing any breaking down of the dB group because that's
- 14:22Speaker 2: just not.
- 14:23Speaker 3: The way that I do every day. That's that's not
- 14:25Speaker 3: my strong suit. I would say.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I think sometimes people wonder, like why am I here?
- 14:30Speaker 1: What is my purpose? What is the reason you come
- 14:32Speaker 1: back to this team? You've been through your injuries, the
- 14:34Speaker 1: acl achilles. The Bills draft a rookie cornerback in Maxwell Harriston.
- 14:39Speaker 1: He goes down with an injury during training camp. A
- 14:41Speaker 1: little bit of purpose there as to what you can
- 14:43Speaker 1: tell the rookie. What did you say to Maxwell Harriston
- 14:46Speaker 1: during that time?
- 14:47Speaker 2: Just, man, it's okay to feel the emotions of being
- 14:51Speaker 2: angry being mad about the situation, but I mean I
- 14:55Speaker 2: always I just told him, like, there's nothing you could
- 14:57Speaker 2: do about it right now, But the only thing you
- 14:59Speaker 2: could do is just take it one day a time,
- 15:01Speaker 2: like bo, bottle this up, understand it, like process it,
- 15:05Speaker 2: you know, to gather all the information that you need
- 15:08Speaker 2: to get yourself right so you could be the best
- 15:11Speaker 2: best version of yourself when you get back. But take
- 15:14Speaker 2: this time to mentally sharpen yourself, get into the playbook more,
- 15:18Speaker 2: go into the details of the defense, go into why
- 15:22Speaker 2: why Bobby Babe just calling this defense?
- 15:24Speaker 3: And what personnel, what situation of the game.
- 15:27Speaker 2: So once you come back, like you could just know like, Okay,
- 15:30Speaker 2: it's first second down, second second and second seventh plus is.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Get back on trackground? What Bobby gonna call here?
- 15:38Speaker 2: I'm talking about things like that because I just know,
- 15:41Speaker 2: like I told him, like I've been through this, been
- 15:43Speaker 2: through this more extensively than what you. The blessing for
- 15:46Speaker 2: you is you can come back and play, but I
- 15:48Speaker 2: have to sit out the whole year twice, so you know,
- 15:52Speaker 2: just giving them all the little nuggas that I can
- 15:54Speaker 2: give him in that moment, but just knowing that he's
- 15:57Speaker 2: gonna handle it the way that he want to handle it,
- 15:59Speaker 2: but also just telling him that you have a great
- 16:03Speaker 2: support system here as far as the rehab for your
- 16:07Speaker 2: mental too, and also just as far as guys upstairs.
- 16:11Speaker 2: You can get as much family as you need, like
- 16:13Speaker 2: what you can get as many.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Breakdown as as you need, however you want it.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Broke it down in your iPad so it could be
- 16:20Speaker 2: personable to you, so you can study film and watch
- 16:23Speaker 2: film the way you want to do it and understand
- 16:25Speaker 2: it the way you.
- 16:25Speaker 3: You would like to do.
- 16:26Speaker 2: But you know, it's it's still it's anover never anything
- 16:30Speaker 2: with me too, of talking to him, because I see
- 16:32Speaker 2: him working, See how you come in each and every
- 16:34Speaker 2: day early to get his treatment, get his running in
- 16:37Speaker 2: a pool, doing things like that.
- 16:38Speaker 3: I actually seen him out here working out a little
- 16:40Speaker 3: bit earlier.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Too, so just to see the way he's he's come,
- 16:44Speaker 2: just from training camp when he was on crutches to
- 16:47Speaker 2: putting the knee brace on the walking running to doing
- 16:50Speaker 2: some little running. I got his on my phone, I told,
- 16:54Speaker 2: because this is what I always deal with my rehabs,
- 16:57Speaker 2: you know, just random videos of things that's going on
- 17:00Speaker 2: when I'm doing So I got a video off my
- 17:02Speaker 2: phone of like Matt Malono getting treatment on the table.
- 17:04Speaker 2: But then I turned the camera it's Max and doing
- 17:07Speaker 2: his first time running.
- 17:08Speaker 3: In the pool. Oh wow, so I have that on
- 17:10Speaker 3: my phone. Yeah, that's why I told.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I was like, bro, like these type of these moments
- 17:14Speaker 2: like this, like you're gonna look back at it. You
- 17:15Speaker 2: can be like man like and this day like this
- 17:18Speaker 2: is what I was doing, but now I'm out here.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Catch an interception like so it's like it's a process
- 17:23Speaker 3: to it.
- 17:23Speaker 2: So then I just try to be there for him
- 17:25Speaker 2: and lighting the moment too, because I know how extensive
- 17:28Speaker 2: the rehab could be, and how repetitive it can be,
- 17:31Speaker 2: and how aggravating it could be coming in every day
- 17:33Speaker 2: doing the same thing. But you just got to know,
- 17:35Speaker 2: like at the end of the the end of the day,
- 17:37Speaker 2: like that light is at the end of the tunny
- 17:39Speaker 2: this is just a little step to you getting to
- 17:41Speaker 2: back to where you want to be. So and he's
- 17:43Speaker 2: been doing great of just you know, receiving all the
- 17:46Speaker 2: information from everybody around him, but also taking that and
- 17:50Speaker 2: actually doing it and putting it into his rehab and
- 17:53Speaker 2: also just coming with a great attitude each.
- 17:55Speaker 3: And every day.
- 17:56Speaker 1: You have such a great mindset. You want to help
- 17:59Speaker 1: your teammate. You want to leave this place better than
- 18:02Speaker 1: how you found it. How did you get to that
- 18:04Speaker 1: place as a player?
- 18:06Speaker 2: You know when you when you accomplished it a lot, Maddie,
- 18:09Speaker 2: like so early in your career, especially for me, so
- 18:12Speaker 2: early in my career going up Pro Bowls, being an
- 18:14Speaker 2: All Pro things like that, It's just like you try
- 18:18Speaker 2: to find other ways to, you know, to get that thrill,
- 18:23Speaker 2: you know, because you know, individually, like you can do
- 18:27Speaker 2: a lot. But like I said this like probably four
- 18:30Speaker 2: or five years ago, like it was back in twenty
- 18:32Speaker 2: twenty one, I did it. It was just like now
- 18:34Speaker 2: it's like, how can I pass that torch? How can
- 18:37Speaker 2: I give little gems to the guys behind me? So,
- 18:40Speaker 2: like I told Max and de Strongness, I was like,
- 18:43Speaker 2: when I'm done here and I'm watching you guys on
- 18:46Speaker 2: the field, like it's gonna be my responsibility, Like if
- 18:49Speaker 2: you guys are out there looking good, like I'm gonna
- 18:50Speaker 2: feel great that I was able to like give you
- 18:53Speaker 2: guys some little nuggets and I'm on my couch watching
- 18:56Speaker 2: you guys make plays.
- 18:56Speaker 3: I'm like, man, I had a little hand in that,
- 18:59Speaker 3: you know.
- 19:00Speaker 2: But if I leave here and you guys are not
- 19:02Speaker 2: performing well, I'm gonna take that to heart because I'm
- 19:04Speaker 2: gonna feel like I failed you guys as far as
- 19:06Speaker 2: a vet of giving you the game that you know,
- 19:09Speaker 2: Vince that I had, Like I had this, you know,
- 19:11Speaker 2: even though it not in the corner back room.
- 19:12Speaker 3: You know. I had Ronald Darby for like a few months,
- 19:15Speaker 3: great resource.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Then I had Vante Davis, Philip games Leave, like all
- 19:19Speaker 2: these guys like we had at safety Kirk Coleman my
- 19:23Speaker 2: third year or two, so a lot of guys that
- 19:25Speaker 2: played a lot of great football that helped me.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Along when I was a young guy of like, man,
- 19:30Speaker 3: this is the process. This is how you do it.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Like you had a good game, okay, so what like
- 19:34Speaker 2: this is how you approached the next week? Oh, you
- 19:36Speaker 2: had a bad game, so what like this is how
- 19:38Speaker 2: you attack the questions with the media gonna ask you like,
- 19:42Speaker 2: this is this is how you do it. I remember
- 19:44Speaker 2: having a bad game my rookie year against A. J. Green,
- 19:46Speaker 2: and I kind of just like after the game, I
- 19:48Speaker 2: carry up, got out the locker room, and Rizzo Lorenzo
- 19:51Speaker 2: Alexander got on the bus. He was like like that
- 19:54Speaker 2: ain't how you do it, like young but like, okay,
- 19:57Speaker 2: you had you had a rough one, but two two
- 20:00Speaker 2: weeks straight before you had great ones and you handed
- 20:03Speaker 2: it different. So Na, no, this is the time where
- 20:05Speaker 2: you stand up and just show who you are as
- 20:07Speaker 2: a person that stuck with me, like that still sticks
- 20:10Speaker 2: with me, like getting on that bus, like Lorenzo coming
- 20:13Speaker 2: and sit with me and like talking to me, like
- 20:14Speaker 2: telling me, like, nah, this is not how you do it,
- 20:16Speaker 2: like do it a different way. And ever since that day,
- 20:19Speaker 2: like it stuck with me. But like my respect for
- 20:23Speaker 2: Lorenzo like here, like because like that was real, that
- 20:28Speaker 2: was real. A lot of guys probably thought about telling it,
- 20:30Speaker 2: but he actually came to me and said it to me.
- 20:33Speaker 3: And I was able to take that even though I
- 20:35Speaker 3: was mad.
- 20:36Speaker 2: I mean I took that bottle that up and like
- 20:38Speaker 2: knowing that he's telling me that out of love and
- 20:40Speaker 2: for the betterment of me for the future. And you know,
- 20:44Speaker 2: so that's you know when guys like me being younger,
- 20:48Speaker 2: like I didn't understand those things in the moment, but
- 20:51Speaker 2: like sitting here now.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Like I get it. And for me, like I got
- 20:56Speaker 3: to pass that along. Yeah, because he did that for me.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Guys like cow we too did that for me, So
- 21:01Speaker 2: like I got to pass that alone. And I just
- 21:03Speaker 2: feel like when you approach it with that type of mindset,
- 21:06Speaker 2: like you get blessed too in the midst of everything
- 21:09Speaker 2: of that too. So yeah, that's that's what it's all
- 21:12Speaker 2: about like I just care about like the art of
- 21:14Speaker 2: cornerback first, and then I have teammates that you know,
- 21:17Speaker 2: younger than me that watch me and watch the things
- 21:20Speaker 2: that I do.
- 21:20Speaker 3: So I just try to pay for it. Training.
- 21:23Speaker 1: You got to get going because you got other stuff
- 21:24Speaker 1: to do before meetings begin. You're pretty good in front
- 21:28Speaker 1: of this, Mike. I think you got a future here.
- 21:31Speaker 1: You know, valedictorian in high school, you had a what
- 21:34Speaker 1: was your gpa? Four point three?
- 21:36Speaker 3: Like three? Shoot? Yeah.
- 21:40Speaker 2: A lot of people, you know, ask me about doing
- 21:43Speaker 2: that because I was just actually doing an interview with
- 21:45Speaker 2: Adam Scheff the Darta yesterday and I was just she
- 21:47Speaker 2: was asking me some questions and the way I was
- 21:50Speaker 2: explaining everything.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Into details, like down to the t. She's like, yeah,
- 21:55Speaker 3: that was like probably the best answers. Like I've been
- 21:58Speaker 3: doing this for five years, and like her dad got.
- 22:01Speaker 2: On, her mom got on, and she was like the
- 22:03Speaker 2: mom was like, she's been doing this for five years
- 22:06Speaker 2: and I never got on a camera when she interviewed
- 22:08Speaker 2: the player like this the first time ever, because like
- 22:10Speaker 2: you were just so great, like just the way you
- 22:13Speaker 2: just talked in articulated yourself and did everything.
- 22:16Speaker 3: But I don't know, Maddie. It could be something.
- 22:21Speaker 2: It could be something, but I just think, well, like
- 22:24Speaker 2: I when I get to talking, I just like to
- 22:27Speaker 2: explain it to details, especially if we can go on
- 22:29Speaker 2: to talk about ball, going to talk about cornerback specifically
- 22:32Speaker 2: in the mindset, and just like reading routes things like that,
- 22:36Speaker 2: like the little exit and os like I like to
- 22:38Speaker 2: explain those type of things.
- 22:39Speaker 3: So and I'd like to talk to a little bit.
- 22:43Speaker 3: I like, you know, once you get back and forth,
- 22:44Speaker 3: I get comfortable. I like to talk a little bit.
- 22:46Speaker 3: So who knows, we might can get something going.
- 22:49Speaker 2: We might I might have a future in this. And
- 22:51Speaker 2: I like to set up you know, the microphone got
- 22:54Speaker 2: to be like this, I could.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Just sit back like sure, So I tryal to come
- 22:58Speaker 3: up a little podcast or something.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Well, we appreciate the time. Maybe we'll see you again.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Yeah for sure, looking forward to it. Thank you for
- 23:05Speaker 2: you know, inviting me on. You know, like I said,
- 23:07Speaker 2: your fav man forward to this one, you know, because
- 23:11Speaker 2: you know, over the years, like you've been here since
- 23:14Speaker 2: what y're.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Twenty twenty nineteen, twenty nineteen.
- 23:16Speaker 2: So yeah, so we became familiar with each other over
- 23:19Speaker 2: the years, so you know, feel comfortable talking to you
- 23:22Speaker 2: for sure. You've always been so nice to me and
- 23:24Speaker 2: so polite. So and then you know some of my
- 23:27Speaker 2: people from Zoo too. Yeah, yeah, we got that connection
- 23:31Speaker 2: for sure.
- 23:32Speaker 1: All right, thank you man, appreciate it, you know what.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Thanks for watching this week's episode of Inside the Charge.
