- 0:08Hello there, and welcome to another mental health moment
- 0:11from the Life Lived Better podcast.
- 0:13This is the place where we take just a couple of minutes to care
- 0:16for our minds. I'm Paula, and in this episode
- 0:20we're talking about how mindfulness can support our
- 0:22mental health. Mindfulness is simply paying
- 0:26attention to the present moment without judgment.
- 0:30That may sound small, but in a world that pulls us in 100
- 0:33directions, it's actually a pretty powerful tool.
- 0:37When we practice mindfulness, we give our brains a break from all
- 0:41the racing thoughts about the past and all of our worries
- 0:45about the future. Research actually shows it can
- 0:49lower stress. It can ease anxiety and even
- 0:53improve our sleep. So how do we bring mindfulness
- 0:57into the daily routine? We'll first start with your
- 1:00breath. Take 60 seconds just to notice
- 1:03each inhale and exhale. There's no need to change
- 1:07anything, just notice. And then second, do one thing at
- 1:11a time. You know, whether it's drinking
- 1:13your coffee in the morning or washing your dishes, just taking
- 1:16a walk outside, just fully focus on that experience.
- 1:21Look around and see what you see, what you hear, what you
- 1:25smell, what you feel. Third, practice kindness towards
- 1:30your thoughts. When your mind wonders and it
- 1:33will just gently bring it back without criticism.
- 1:38Mindfulness isn't about perfection, it's just about
- 1:41being present. And the beauty of mindfulness is
- 1:45that it doesn't take any special equipment or even any extra
- 1:49time. It's more like a shift in how
- 1:52you show up in the moments that you're already living.
- 1:55So today, I invite you just take a few mindful breaths and notice
- 2:00how even that tiny pause can create some calm.
- 2:06The Life, Live Better podcast. Thank you for joining us for
- 2:08this mental health moment. Until next time, take care of
- 2:12your mind because it's the only one you've got.
- 2:15And don't forget that knowledge leads to a life lived better.
