- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where we love a little free football.
- 0:10Speaker 1: I'm Greg Rosenthal here in the Chris Westling podcast studio,
- 0:15Speaker 1: and I'm with Patrick Claybon with all the claymates listening,
- 0:20Speaker 1: both of you. I'm with Nick Shook with all the
- 0:23Speaker 1: shook ones out there. And yes, this week twelve recap
- 0:28Speaker 1: is for all the NFL dailiens in our universe. What
- 0:33Speaker 1: a Sunday, an important Sunday where we finally lost Patrick
- 0:39Speaker 1: Claybon as a member of Team Analytics.
- 0:42Speaker 2: He's done with it. No, no, no over. I just
- 0:46Speaker 2: I needed a place to go. I went there briefly. No,
- 0:49Speaker 2: we're bat, Greg, stay there.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I've never seen Patrick as mata anything as he has
- 0:55Speaker 1: been about the fourth down decisions on this Sunday, especially
- 0:59Speaker 1: from Liam Cohen and Brian Shottenheiman.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Yeah, there were some ones that got a little bit
- 1:04Speaker 2: wiggily there. I went to a dark place, but I'm
- 1:07Speaker 2: back now. I did some research. Yes, I will get
- 1:09Speaker 2: you know again. I have hit my yelling quota now
- 1:12Speaker 2: twenty twenty five, not be yelling anymore. And we we
- 1:16Speaker 2: were gonna I have a take I'm working on when
- 1:20Speaker 2: we get.
- 1:20Speaker 3: There, okay, and we'll give it to the people.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Let's get there. Then let's talk about one of those games.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Let's lead off with Cowboys Eagles to Jerry World forty two.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Yards on the left hash to win the game, snapping
- 1:34Speaker 4: home forty two yard kick from Aubrey. The Cowboys have
- 1:40Speaker 4: won this football game. Butter Bubber, Butter, Butter Butters.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I don't know when they won one.
- 1:47Speaker 5: It's not like this.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Forty two for Aubrey and the Cowboys win twenty four.
- 1:52Speaker 6: To twenty one.
- 1:53Speaker 7: Oh.
- 1:54Speaker 1: The voice of the Dallas Cowboys, Brad Sham, I'm k
- 1:58Speaker 1: r l D. He can't remember a game where they
- 2:02Speaker 1: came back from twenty one nothing twenty one seven at halftime.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Yes, holding the Eagles scoreless in.
- 2:10Speaker 1: The second half, and perhaps overcoming a decision that made
- 2:14Speaker 1: Patrick a little bit crazy. Brandon Aubrey with the walk off.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Let's start with Shookie here. When the Eagles are dominating
- 2:23Speaker 1: this game in the first half, I just could not
- 2:27Speaker 1: imagine a scenario where the Cowboys came back and won it.
- 2:31Speaker 5: And they are now five to five and one.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And the theme early in this show is the Thanksgiving
- 2:35Speaker 1: games getting a little more interesting and the Cowboys getting
- 2:38Speaker 1: to five hundred what do you think was the most
- 2:40Speaker 1: important thing that turned this game around?
- 2:43Speaker 6: Oh?
- 2:43Speaker 8: I mean this could spider web in a number of
- 2:44Speaker 8: different directions, just based on the fact that it's not
- 2:46Speaker 8: going to be a normal Monday morning in Philadelphia after this.
- 2:49Speaker 9: But yeah, what was the most important thing?
- 2:50Speaker 8: Well, I agree with you that when they were up
- 2:52Speaker 8: twenty one to nothing, I thought there's no way they're rolling.
- 2:55Speaker 8: They even checked off the most important box, which is
- 2:57Speaker 8: get aj Brown involved and throw them a touchdown pass.
- 3:00Speaker 8: Their social media teams having a field day with it.
- 3:02Speaker 8: They posted a little video of Jalen Hurts sitting down saying,
- 3:05Speaker 8: so that's what y'all wanted, huh, Except this is not
- 3:08Speaker 8: what they wanted. They didn't want you to collapse in
- 3:10Speaker 8: the second half and give away possession by fumbling a
- 3:13Speaker 8: part return, by giving the Cowboys a chance that they
- 3:15Speaker 8: didn't cash in, by failing to get within field goal range,
- 3:17Speaker 8: and then giving up a field goal against your hated rival.
- 3:20Speaker 8: This is a game you should have pulled away, and
- 3:22Speaker 8: instead you crumbled. And that's why it's not going to
- 3:24Speaker 8: be a normal Monday in Philadelphia.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And I do want to get to the downside of
- 3:28Speaker 1: the Eagles at some point here, But this was an
- 3:31Speaker 1: awesome performance by a Cowboys offense who puts up four
- 3:35Speaker 1: hundred and seventy three yards twenty five first downs, and
- 3:39Speaker 1: George Pickens helps to take over in the second half,
- 3:42Speaker 1: finishing with one hundred and forty six yards and nine
- 3:45Speaker 1: catches on nine target on nine targets.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Every single time the ball went in George Pickens' direction,
- 3:49Speaker 2: he was making a play against a secondary where there's
- 3:53Speaker 2: always an overmatch in the favor of the Philadelphia Eagles
- 3:57Speaker 2: until they come into this situation where it's Ceedee Lamb
- 4:00Speaker 2: and George Pickens and you're able to get a player
- 4:03Speaker 2: who the folks watching that game, watching previous Cowboys games,
- 4:06Speaker 2: it's tough to watch and say that George Pickens isn't
- 4:09Speaker 2: the best player on the field, and you get him
- 4:11Speaker 2: for a third round pick, And thanks to the nature
- 4:14Speaker 2: of the franchise tag and all that, we may never
- 4:16Speaker 2: get to see what George Pickens might actually be worth
- 4:19Speaker 2: in an open market in this situation. But it's tough
- 4:22Speaker 2: not to say the top five in.
- 4:24Speaker 5: The league looking at you were saying he was the
- 4:27Speaker 5: best receiver.
- 4:27Speaker 2: In the league a little earlier in terms of like
- 4:30Speaker 2: who's executing, who's making the plays that are available to
- 4:33Speaker 2: them on the field, who's finishing plays Where you see
- 4:35Speaker 2: George Pickens get loose, he steps out of a tackle,
- 4:38Speaker 2: a legitimate threat to score every single time he catches
- 4:40Speaker 2: the ball. I understand there were some wiggly moments he did,
- 4:43Speaker 2: weird things that we had fun in talking about them
- 4:46Speaker 2: in Pittsburgh. But the results speak for themselves. Greg He's
- 4:51Speaker 2: a spectacular football player playing some of the best football
- 4:54Speaker 2: of his career right.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Now, and he did it on a day where his
- 4:57Speaker 1: running partner Cede Lamb let the team down ultimately thre Redrops.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I believe in this game a couple of real groaners
- 5:03Speaker 1: where he's just like knocking it down like a volleyball,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and then he didn't make a catch that preceded the
- 5:09Speaker 1: brot Brian Schottenheimer decision on fourth down that you know,
- 5:14Speaker 1: first of all, Ceedee Lamb should catch that ball. It's
- 5:16Speaker 1: a really difficult throw by Dak Prescott into a tight window,
- 5:18Speaker 1: but it goes through Ceedee Lamb's bread basket. It's tied
- 5:21Speaker 1: twenty one. All this is late in the fourth quarter.
- 5:25Speaker 1: We've got about three forty five to go and instead
- 5:29Speaker 1: of taking a chip shot Brandon Aubrey field goal, they
- 5:33Speaker 1: go for fourth end goal I believe from the Philadelphia
- 5:38Speaker 1: one yard line. But they throw the ball and that
- 5:40Speaker 1: was the point where you lost your mind, and I
- 5:43Speaker 1: think analytics lost you forever.
- 5:44Speaker 3: No, it's not that analytics lost me forever.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I think the Dallas Cowboys called all the way back
- 5:49Speaker 2: from down twenty one to nothing.
- 5:50Speaker 3: They had a chance to take the lead, yes, in
- 5:52Speaker 3: the fourth quarter.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And I understand the model and the folks that Next
- 5:56Speaker 2: Gen Stats put a lot of effort into the model,
- 5:58Speaker 2: but there's some limitations there and determining what the decision
- 6:02Speaker 2: should be in a football game that is actively happening
- 6:06Speaker 2: in the moment, so the model has to make a
- 6:08Speaker 2: few assumptions. And so you go in to the Next
- 6:10Speaker 2: Gen Stats page and they're very forthcoming, very open with
- 6:13Speaker 2: regards to how things are constructed. And so I'll read
- 6:16Speaker 2: you guys a quote. The actual yards to go is
- 6:18Speaker 2: a clear metric to provide to the model, because you
- 6:21Speaker 2: want to know the down and distance and how that
- 6:23Speaker 2: plays into your decisions. But there's not a lot of
- 6:26Speaker 2: information that's available to the model in that moment. So
- 6:29Speaker 2: the Vegas lines are used condense vast amounts of situational
- 6:33Speaker 2: historical knowledge about the teams into a small set of
- 6:36Speaker 2: numbers to involve that decision, specifically the point spread. And
- 6:41Speaker 2: you know my opinion on what the goal of the
- 6:43Speaker 2: point spread.
- 6:44Speaker 5: Is to make people gamble more, to provide.
- 6:47Speaker 3: An opportunity for people to make a decision to gamble.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I think that's only that small part of the NGS.
- 6:53Speaker 3: It's a small part.
- 6:54Speaker 2: But when we're talking about decisions that are point zero
- 6:56Speaker 2: zero nine in point zero zero four, I think in
- 7:01Speaker 2: terms of evaluating the decision, I would like a model
- 7:04Speaker 2: not to include Vegas is desired to make money on
- 7:08Speaker 2: the football game, because I know people think Vegas is
- 7:11Speaker 2: so smart and they know everything about football. They are
- 7:13Speaker 2: not making decisions to be right about the game. They
- 7:15Speaker 2: are making decisions to make money.
- 7:17Speaker 3: They want. The lines are there to encourage action.
- 7:20Speaker 2: So eventually you get to a point where you get
- 7:22Speaker 2: a line, and that's because the line is changing over
- 7:25Speaker 2: the course of the entire week because they would like
- 7:28Speaker 2: the money. The money is the priority there.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Yes, So I don't know how much it goes into it.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I think you have to trust what you see and
- 7:34Speaker 1: Brian Schottenheimer has said like he hears his dad's voice
- 7:37Speaker 1: in his head and that he wants to be more
- 7:39Speaker 1: conservative with these ideas. And I think he's thinking field
- 7:42Speaker 1: position is part of it, because what happened to the
- 7:45Speaker 1: Eagles offense is part of that decision. And what happened
- 7:50Speaker 1: to them is they got a couple first downs, but
- 7:53Speaker 1: they end up punting from their own nineteen yard line,
- 7:56Speaker 1: setting up the Cowboys to end up going on that
- 7:58Speaker 1: game winning goal drive. I was surprised because took the
- 8:06Speaker 1: Eagles defense is that is the great unit in this game.
- 8:09Speaker 1: A the Eagles offense is struggling, so if you put
- 8:12Speaker 1: three points on the board here, actually I'd have a
- 8:14Speaker 1: little bit of faith that the Cowboys can stop them.
- 8:16Speaker 1: But I didn't mind the call too much to go
- 8:19Speaker 1: for it there. I'm just more kind of amazed that
- 8:23Speaker 1: everything happened down the stretch of this game on both
- 8:26Speaker 1: sides of the ball. What disappointed you the most took
- 8:28Speaker 1: like of how the Eagles finished this game out.
- 8:31Speaker 8: Well, I felt like Patrick was heading toward making a
- 8:34Speaker 8: case for momentum for a second with like you know,
- 8:36Speaker 8: needing the context of the game to you know, kind
- 8:38Speaker 8: of make a better decision, which I was about to
- 8:40Speaker 8: be blown away by that, So thank you for steering
- 8:41Speaker 8: away from that.
- 8:42Speaker 9: That would have just made me useless for the rest
- 8:44Speaker 9: of the show.
- 8:45Speaker 8: I think it's just the second half lack of production,
- 8:47Speaker 8: not that it's a surprise from the Eagles offense that
- 8:49Speaker 8: has struggled mightily, and in fact, scoring twenty one points
- 8:52Speaker 8: against anybody is an achievement for them, at least as
- 8:55Speaker 8: of late. It's the fact that their defense given the
- 8:58Speaker 8: opportunity to get some stops, which they did get stops.
- 9:00Speaker 9: There was a lot of There was a sequence there where.
- 9:03Speaker 8: Cavante Turpin fumbles the ball in the backfield, Zach Bond recovers.
- 9:06Speaker 8: Like they made their plays defensively, but ultimately they were
- 9:09Speaker 8: not able to withstand the onslaught the offensive onslought of
- 9:13Speaker 8: nearly five hundred total yards from the Cowboys offense. That
- 9:15Speaker 8: is their only method to success is by throwing the
- 9:18Speaker 8: ball and trying to just move it through the air
- 9:20Speaker 8: as much as possible.
- 9:22Speaker 9: That's what disappoints me. Now, they did lose some.
- 9:24Speaker 8: Guys in this game, and then Andrew mccooba goes down
- 9:26Speaker 8: that that last drive as well and that's kind of
- 9:28Speaker 8: a bummer and explains a little bit of it. But ultimately,
- 9:31Speaker 8: if this defense is as good as we thought it
- 9:32Speaker 8: was for the last couple of weeks, they make at
- 9:34Speaker 8: least one stand in a key spot, and at minimum
- 9:37Speaker 8: this game goes to overtime, which is not what happened
- 9:39Speaker 8: to me.
- 9:40Speaker 1: It's it's so much more on the offense and the
- 9:43Speaker 1: game changed. We didn't know it at the time certainly,
- 9:46Speaker 1: but it's late second quarter. They had like a third
- 9:48Speaker 1: and two before halftime, and then they get a false
- 9:51Speaker 1: start penalty I think on Cam Jurgens.
- 9:54Speaker 5: It backs him up.
- 9:54Speaker 1: They don't get the first down, and then Dak goes
- 9:56Speaker 1: on a nice drive before halftime to at least cut
- 9:59Speaker 1: the deficit. And then after that, you know, the Eagles
- 10:02Speaker 1: offense goes three and out, one first down and then
- 10:06Speaker 1: upon another three and out. Jakb Elliott misses a long
- 10:09Speaker 1: field goal. At one point, you have the fumble. It's
- 10:12Speaker 1: a little bit of everything, but ultimately, like against this
- 10:15Speaker 1: Cowboys defense, which does look better, you know, you got
- 10:20Speaker 1: to be able to sustain drives a little bit more
- 10:22Speaker 1: because you can't expect their defense to hold up the
- 10:24Speaker 1: whole time. It was a really magical I think Dave
- 10:28Speaker 1: for the Cowboys and for Dak Prescott. Let's listen to
- 10:31Speaker 1: his rushing touchdown which tied the score early in the
- 10:34Speaker 1: fourth quarter.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Prescott on second down back and runs up out of
- 10:39Speaker 4: the pocket, runs to his left to the.
- 10:40Speaker 5: Town to the five, touch.
- 10:42Speaker 10: To his left, Summer Tift touch down, touchdown. Fuck have
- 10:47Speaker 10: them touchdown? Press Scott, you're too old to shummer fault
- 10:54Speaker 10: an extra point away from Tunning all the way back.
- 10:57Speaker 1: That that is awesome, and it's it's a reminder. Yeah,
- 11:01Speaker 1: one team was able to run the ball well today
- 11:03Speaker 1: and that team was the Dallas Cowboys. Not that it
- 11:06Speaker 1: was like incredible. Javonte goes eighty seven yards and Malik
- 11:10Speaker 1: Davis actually had a couple of nice carries off the
- 11:12Speaker 1: bench too, but Saquon Barkley ten for twenty two and yeah,
- 11:16Speaker 1: on a day where Davante Smith goes deep and ag
- 11:19Speaker 1: Brown goes over one hundred yards, like we said, they
- 11:22Speaker 1: have had no running game and they fall to eight
- 11:25Speaker 1: and three and give the Rams, who will be hearing
- 11:28Speaker 1: from later in the show, a chance to take the
- 11:30Speaker 1: one seed in the NFC.
- 11:32Speaker 2: And a credit to consummate Baald Knower Jerry Jones, as
- 11:36Speaker 2: the Wilson trade as well as the Williams trade seem
- 11:40Speaker 2: to this Dallas Cowboys defense. You go back to the
- 11:43Speaker 2: start of the season, they're inconsistency and just you know,
- 11:47Speaker 2: they get the Marvin Overshawn back, which also helps there.
- 11:52Speaker 2: But the run defense better, defense better overall, even though
- 11:55Speaker 2: they did get Torch deep a couple of times and
- 11:58Speaker 2: the pressure kept Jalen Hurts from stepping into throws. But
- 12:02Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts far and away the leading rusher. He had
- 12:04Speaker 2: ten more yards than Saquon and he averaged four yards
- 12:08Speaker 2: of carry. He had the most explosive run of the
- 12:10Speaker 2: Eagles offense on the day. And you know, Lane Johnson
- 12:15Speaker 2: being out, it didn't get it definitely wasn't going to
- 12:17Speaker 2: get better. But we saw how much worse it was
- 12:20Speaker 2: going to be against this Ebra Flu's defense. And it's
- 12:24Speaker 2: you know, over on the defensive side. You know Mkooba
- 12:27Speaker 2: gets hurt, but not just that, because he's on Turpin
- 12:30Speaker 2: coming out of the backfield on the Pickens play that
- 12:33Speaker 2: got them in field goal range on that last drive,
- 12:36Speaker 2: and he's running to get Turpin runs into Quinyon Mitchell,
- 12:39Speaker 2: which is how George Pickens got that open in the
- 12:41Speaker 2: first place. Just a rough situation in spots for the
- 12:45Speaker 2: defense and then for the offense. Is the entire second
- 12:47Speaker 2: half things went south?
- 12:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of amazing where I know Jalen Hurts
- 12:53Speaker 1: can't hold the ball, but Dak and Jalen Hurts held
- 12:55Speaker 1: the ball the same amount of time tonight. And you
- 12:57Speaker 1: know which team had a higher pressure rate, Dallas Cowboys.
- 13:02Speaker 1: The Doomsday defense is back. They're in the mix at
- 13:05Speaker 1: five and one, five five and one.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Sheok violently shaking his head at Doomsday defense.
- 13:10Speaker 9: Not a fan, No, it'd be my Doomsday.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I'm still you know, I'm still not forgiving Darry for
- 13:16Speaker 1: the Michael Parsons trade. But damn it, if they don't
- 13:19Speaker 1: put on a good show, would they be facing a
- 13:23Speaker 1: team on Thanksgiving? Also, coming off of victory, let's go
- 13:26Speaker 1: to the Chiefs in Arrowhead.
- 13:29Speaker 3: So if the Colt should blitz, they do criss cross blitz.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Mahomes goes over the middle to pass.
- 13:33Speaker 11: This didn't catch made by Worthy and a catch and
- 13:38Speaker 11: cold territory of thirty one yards. Worthy with the great
- 13:41Speaker 11: catch burning Chavarius warned the ex chief and the Chiefs
- 13:45Speaker 11: are in business at five point fifteen to go.
- 13:47Speaker 3: In the overtime, tight to twenty.
- 13:49Speaker 12: Oh.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Mitch Holtis on k f n Z with the heady
- 13:55Speaker 1: called noting, Yes, it was a Tarvarius word revenge game,
- 13:59Speaker 1: but the chief got their revenge in the end, twenty
- 14:02Speaker 1: three to twenty in overtime. A fascinating game. It felt
- 14:08Speaker 1: like a playoff game the Eagles Cowboys was just weird fun.
- 14:14Speaker 1: This felt like it could have been in January, and
- 14:17Speaker 1: I shouldn't be surprised shook in the end that the
- 14:22Speaker 1: Chiefs made the plays to win as if it was
- 14:25Speaker 1: a January game. Down twenty to nine going into the
- 14:29Speaker 1: fourth quarter, the Chiefs are driving. Patrick Mahomes needed to
- 14:34Speaker 1: win this game if they were going to win this game,
- 14:36Speaker 1: and they did.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Obviously.
- 14:38Speaker 1: It was gonna be the biggest fourth quarter comeback of
- 14:40Speaker 1: his entire career. And when Kareem Hunt fumbled the ball
- 14:43Speaker 1: in the red zone while they're going in to start
- 14:46Speaker 1: the fourth quarter, I really thought, man, that's probably it.
- 14:51Speaker 1: But you know what, Steve Spagnolo kept sending the house,
- 14:55Speaker 1: Chris Jones kept getting pressures to get the Colts off
- 14:59Speaker 1: the field, and ultimately the Chiefs offense which just couldn't
- 15:03Speaker 1: buy a big play all day, just ground down this
- 15:06Speaker 1: Colts defense and eventually wins it in overtime, a gut
- 15:12Speaker 1: check win. And I don't think you can overstate how
- 15:15Speaker 1: important it is to this entire Chief season.
- 15:18Speaker 8: No, absolutely not, especially after Travis Kelsey was outspoken this
- 15:21Speaker 8: week saying that people needed to stop being selfish. This
- 15:23Speaker 8: was going to be a situation that was going to
- 15:25Speaker 8: test your you know, intestinal fortitude as a team, Like,
- 15:28Speaker 8: how are you going to overcome this adversity at home
- 15:31Speaker 8: against one of the rising star teams of the AFC
- 15:34Speaker 8: this year, one of the darlings in the Indianapolis Colts
- 15:36Speaker 8: with one of the most complete offenses in the NFL.
- 15:38Speaker 3: How do you do it?
- 15:39Speaker 8: You outgain them nearly two to one, very close to
- 15:42Speaker 8: two to one, You overcome early and mid early fourth
- 15:45Speaker 8: quarter turnover as well, and you mount the comeback. Which
- 15:48Speaker 8: is a prime example of why when we continue to
- 15:51Speaker 8: consider this team week by week, no matter their record
- 15:54Speaker 8: five and five now six and five, we cannot put
- 15:57Speaker 8: them to bed because they have the culture and the
- 15:59Speaker 8: experience is to overcome adversity in situations like that. Sometimes
- 16:02Speaker 8: they need to remind themselves that they're capable of it.
- 16:05Speaker 8: And I hate to put too much importance on a game,
- 16:07Speaker 8: but this type of comeback and then winning it in overtime,
- 16:10Speaker 8: it didn't feel inevitable. Watching from Afar might have felt
- 16:13Speaker 8: inevitable just because of the Chiefs, but it can be
- 16:15Speaker 8: the type of game that informs your team that yes,
- 16:18Speaker 8: you can do this, and it injects belief and hope
- 16:20Speaker 8: and optimism into the group, and it takes a little
- 16:23Speaker 8: bit of that pressure off that you're no longer now
- 16:25Speaker 8: you're slightly above five hundred, this is where the run starts.
- 16:28Speaker 9: Let's build momentum from here.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Well, yeah, they would have been at five and six.
- 16:31Speaker 1: And the rest of the AFC, I think, is watching
- 16:33Speaker 1: this game and they're like, come on, Colts, can you
- 16:36Speaker 1: just drive the stake through their heart? Because there were
- 16:38Speaker 1: so many opportunities to do so, and sometimes it's these
- 16:43Speaker 1: small little margins. And I'm going to go through a
- 16:45Speaker 1: few different scenarios in this game, but one actually is
- 16:49Speaker 1: late second quarter and at this point that the Chiefs
- 16:53Speaker 1: and the Colts are trading touchdowns for field goals and
- 16:57Speaker 1: it's fourteen to six, and it looked like I thought,
- 16:59Speaker 1: you know, the played a really good game play calling.
- 17:02Speaker 1: They were going to escape the first half with one
- 17:04Speaker 1: extra possession. Those are like the small margins and probably
- 17:07Speaker 1: go up even more than fourteen to six. They get
- 17:10Speaker 1: stuffed on a second in one type of carry or
- 17:13Speaker 1: second and two, something like that, and then on third down,
- 17:16Speaker 1: Spagnolo kind of Jedi mind tricks Daniel Jones into changing
- 17:21Speaker 1: the play at the line of scrimmage into a pass
- 17:24Speaker 1: on third and one at midfield, and then Jones does
- 17:27Speaker 1: pass it, but the Chiefs, they're so smart, they change
- 17:30Speaker 1: their defense back and Jones doesn't have time to really adjust.
- 17:34Speaker 5: And they get ready back people out out.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Of the box and they stop them and Stike and
- 17:39Speaker 1: then decides to punt, and it's around midfield, and that
- 17:42Speaker 1: started a trend of Shane Stike and punting on fourth
- 17:47Speaker 1: and short. He punted two different times in the second
- 17:50Speaker 1: half on his own forty on fourth and three, and
- 17:53Speaker 1: I think you know both the models and Patrick Clay,
- 17:56Speaker 1: but I would probably defend that decision. I thought, with
- 18:00Speaker 1: the way the game was going, I would have liked
- 18:01Speaker 1: to see him go for I think less forgivable to
- 18:04Speaker 1: me was punting on fourth and four from the Chiefs
- 18:07Speaker 1: forty five yard line with five thirty six to go,
- 18:11Speaker 1: you're on the other side of the fifty.
- 18:13Speaker 5: You're up at that point a field goal.
- 18:15Speaker 1: And that sequence, to me was so telling because whether
- 18:17Speaker 1: you give credit to the decisions or more importantly the players,
- 18:21Speaker 1: the Chiefs were just not allowing the Colts offense to
- 18:25Speaker 1: do anything. And you get the ball at midfield, up
- 18:27Speaker 1: three with about six minutes to go, you should just
- 18:29Speaker 1: win that game, and they go three and out. And
- 18:32Speaker 1: the Colts defense had been kind of bailing them out
- 18:35Speaker 1: over and over again, just bending and not breaking, and
- 18:38Speaker 1: eventually they did break.
- 18:39Speaker 2: And it also the aggressiveness not just from Shane Steichen
- 18:42Speaker 2: what you would have liked to see in those situations,
- 18:44Speaker 2: but on Daniel Jones in the plays before those situations,
- 18:47Speaker 2: because on that fourth and ultimately four, Doms throws short
- 18:51Speaker 2: of the sticks to get his third and ten and
- 18:55Speaker 2: they get a six yard completion. They're to Michael Pittman Junior.
- 18:58Speaker 2: And it's a trend it went for most of the
- 19:01Speaker 2: second half where the Colts would be in great situations,
- 19:04Speaker 2: there will be incomplete passes on third down. Ultimately they
- 19:08Speaker 2: go five of sixteen on third down in this game
- 19:11Speaker 2: where they have the opportunities. But you see the Kansas
- 19:15Speaker 2: City Chiefs lose to the consummate twenty twenty five rock
- 19:18Speaker 2: fight team in the Denver Broncos. And when they get
- 19:21Speaker 2: in a rock fight that's not against the Broncos shootout.
- 19:25Speaker 2: I will favor the Colts and Dimes every single time.
- 19:28Speaker 2: But as the score remained low in this game, it
- 19:30Speaker 2: seemed more inevitable. And you mentioned the Kareem Hunt fumble,
- 19:33Speaker 2: it could have been even worse. It could have been
- 19:35Speaker 2: even more of a like overtimes not in question if
- 19:39Speaker 2: Kareem Hunt doesn't put that ball on the turf, and
- 19:41Speaker 2: the Chiefs just win this second half running away.
- 19:43Speaker 1: No, And the game starts with Laatu Latu having his
- 19:46Speaker 1: third interception of the year put him on the Pro
- 19:48Speaker 1: Bowl ballot as a cornerback.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Forget it.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I mean he's got more than he's a cover edge
- 19:54Speaker 1: a lot of like the top players in the league.
- 19:56Speaker 1: And he picks off Mahomes, tips it in the air
- 19:59Speaker 1: to himself and they score or a short you know,
- 20:01Speaker 1: three yard touchdown drive right after that.
- 20:05Speaker 3: So one of their two scores that they got two
- 20:06Speaker 3: touchdowns right on a.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Play to play basis.
- 20:09Speaker 1: The Chiefs look like the better team thirty three first
- 20:11Speaker 1: downs to ten ninety one offensive plays, and yet like
- 20:16Speaker 1: the thing that stands out to me shook is the
- 20:18Speaker 1: Colts had no pass rush whatsoever. They missed a Forest
- 20:21Speaker 1: Buckner so well, And I actually thought it was a
- 20:23Speaker 1: pretty uneven game from Patrick Mahomes. He goes for three
- 20:27Speaker 1: hundred and fifty yards. He ultimately makes the winning play
- 20:29Speaker 1: there in overtime. But I think Tony Romo is usually
- 20:32Speaker 1: pretty forgiving, was noting how he's getting off his receivers
- 20:36Speaker 1: awfully quickly, and there's some numbers out there where they
- 20:39Speaker 1: are just not doing anything against man coverage this year
- 20:42Speaker 1: or in this game, he's eating up zone and when
- 20:45Speaker 1: they went to man today with Tarvarius Warden Sauce Gardner,
- 20:48Speaker 1: like they were not getting any production and so they
- 20:51Speaker 1: really had to work for it. Kareem Hunt had thirty
- 20:53Speaker 1: carries in this game for one hundred and four yards.
- 20:55Speaker 1: He's stuck with the run in part because Mahomes was uneven.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And yet you know, they made it happen, Mahomes and
- 21:01Speaker 1: Chris Jones, especially in the.
- 21:02Speaker 8: End, and it's indicative of something that Mahomes has battled
- 21:05Speaker 8: a few weeks now, and I think it really came
- 21:08Speaker 8: to a head against Denver, a game that he just
- 21:10Speaker 8: always felt like. It looked to me like he was
- 21:12Speaker 8: always uncomfortable in that game and just didn't really know
- 21:14Speaker 8: where to go, which is very uncommon for him. He's
- 21:16Speaker 8: one of the best play extenders and somebody who makes
- 21:19Speaker 8: something out of nothing in the NFL, and to have
- 21:22Speaker 8: that kind of carry over into an uneven game today
- 21:24Speaker 8: against a quality opponent doesn't surprise me at all. What
- 21:26Speaker 8: does surprise me that the Chiefs were able to commit
- 21:29Speaker 8: to the run and break a one hundred yards with
- 21:31Speaker 8: a thirty carry performance from Kareem Hunt, because this is
- 21:33Speaker 8: a Chiefs team that has not been able to run
- 21:34Speaker 8: the ball consistently for most of this year. Safer when
- 21:37Speaker 8: you get inside the five or the ten, you just
- 21:39Speaker 8: handed it off the Hunt and he runs a couple
- 21:40Speaker 8: of guys over and gets it to the end zone.
- 21:42Speaker 8: So that's encouraging to me. But I also pivoting kind
- 21:45Speaker 8: of back to the Colts here for a second. We
- 21:47Speaker 8: give the Patriots a lot of stuff because Okay, well
- 21:51Speaker 8: they're unproven, like who have they played?
- 21:53Speaker 11: Right?
- 21:53Speaker 9: We don't know about them?
- 21:54Speaker 8: Why don't we say the same thing about the Colts
- 21:56Speaker 8: because this is one of those examples where you look
- 21:59Speaker 8: at them and you go, you need Daniel Jones to
- 22:02Speaker 8: make a play, you need Jonathan Taylor to have a day.
- 22:05Speaker 8: Sixteen Carriacs for fifty eight yards is not a day
- 22:07Speaker 8: when compared against the rest of Jonathan Taylor's season. How
- 22:10Speaker 8: much do you trust this Colts team because they're going
- 22:12Speaker 8: to be in a situation like this in the playoffs.
- 22:14Speaker 8: This is a test and I think if anybody was
- 22:16Speaker 8: looking for a reason to be confident in them, they
- 22:19Speaker 8: failed that test today.
- 22:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree.
- 22:22Speaker 1: There were so many opportunities for them to win and
- 22:26Speaker 1: to show that they were like a difference making offense,
- 22:30Speaker 1: and they started out that way in terms of like
- 22:32Speaker 1: the play calling, but ultimately that sequence I mentioned where
- 22:36Speaker 1: they get the ball at midfield with a chance to
- 22:38Speaker 1: put the ball away, like Jonathan Taylor doesn't even get
- 22:40Speaker 1: the ball. And it's worth noting like Jonathan Taylor and
- 22:43Speaker 1: their running game like wasn't that effective overall today and
- 22:46Speaker 1: including in short yard situations. So it's like you're kind
- 22:49Speaker 1: of damned if you do, damned if you don't. The
- 22:51Speaker 1: offensive line had a bunch of penalties, like they had
- 22:53Speaker 1: their chance to kind of stamp themselves and now they
- 22:55Speaker 1: didn't do it.
- 22:56Speaker 2: You saw a flash of it where there was a
- 22:58Speaker 2: play I believe in the second where Quentin Nelson is
- 23:01Speaker 2: pulling around.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Gets a great block.
- 23:03Speaker 2: They get a great seal on the edge as well,
- 23:05Speaker 2: and Jonathan Taylor goes down the sideline and you almost
- 23:08Speaker 2: needed the Colts. The Colts needed Jonathan Taylor to have
- 23:11Speaker 2: that signature like huge home run hit a run where
- 23:16Speaker 2: that's Those are the big plays on the offense at
- 23:18Speaker 2: this point where the Chiefs were able to, you know,
- 23:20Speaker 2: keep a lid on Alec Pierce and we want like, well,
- 23:24Speaker 2: maybe Dimes gets involved in the run game. He had
- 23:26Speaker 2: a first down scramble, but he's not moving like proham
- 23:30Speaker 2: Dimes in the run game. I know it's it's November,
- 23:33Speaker 2: and he just looked a little clunky moving around. I'm
- 23:36Speaker 2: sure he's you know, the Chiefs defense was beating him
- 23:38Speaker 2: up as well.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I don't think he's one hundred percent because he's he
- 23:42Speaker 1: was questionable on the injury report, and he was moving
- 23:44Speaker 1: around and he's stuck in the pocket and made some
- 23:47Speaker 1: really good throws to start this game out including the
- 23:50Speaker 1: first touchdown that that he threw, which I thought was
- 23:53Speaker 1: an incredible example of him staying in the pocket. But
- 23:56Speaker 1: he did give the Chiefs a couple of chances to
- 23:58Speaker 1: pick the ball off in this game too, they just
- 24:00Speaker 1: didn't take advantage. And then look if the Chiefs do
- 24:03Speaker 1: turn this season around, circle back to about three minutes
- 24:07Speaker 1: left in this game. They had a fourth down and
- 24:10Speaker 1: it felt like not season to go. But it was
- 24:13Speaker 1: a big moment and Rashi Rice, if you're watching on YouTube,
- 24:17Speaker 1: you'll see Rashie Rice makes a nice catch after Mahomes,
- 24:20Speaker 1: you know, drops back to pass. The throws like a
- 24:22Speaker 1: little bit high. And I've been getting on Racei Rice
- 24:25Speaker 1: for not really making plays this year. He did have
- 24:27Speaker 1: a good game today. After one misplay early, then goes
- 24:30Speaker 1: eight for one forty one big time play by a
- 24:34Speaker 1: big time play.
- 24:35Speaker 2: You could almost say it was a one handed gram
- 24:37Speaker 2: the way he had to reach up and stab that
- 24:39Speaker 2: where it would have been a nasty Mahomes miss. If
- 24:41Speaker 2: that goes to the turf would have said, hey, that
- 24:43Speaker 2: would have been a tough catch for Rashee Rice instead,
- 24:46Speaker 2: first down and now they can't they can't be killed
- 24:48Speaker 2: at the zombie Chiefs.
- 24:49Speaker 1: They are, and that sets up a beautiful Thanksgiving matchup.
- 24:53Speaker 1: They're six and five. The Cowboys are five to five
- 24:55Speaker 1: and one and both very intriguing. Meanwhile, this cold it's
- 25:00Speaker 1: lost Somewhere Texans fans are at home cheering for the Chiefs.
- 25:05Speaker 13: Uh.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Somewhere, Jaguars fans will get to them. We're cheering for
- 25:09Speaker 1: the Chiefs and could make it very interesting atop the
- 25:12Speaker 1: AFC South. All right, let's go from that Thanksgiving game
- 25:15Speaker 1: and set up the next one. Yes, the Detroit Lions
- 25:19Speaker 1: are hoping for an easy Sunday and they did not
- 25:21Speaker 1: get one.
- 25:22Speaker 14: Here come the Lions now opening possession of overtime golf
- 25:26Speaker 14: up under center turns.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Gives to Gibbs. Gibbs had to.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Take the.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Get up?
- 25:37Speaker 5: Who cut down?
- 25:38Speaker 12: Detroit Lion?
- 25:40Speaker 3: W off shand up stand up?
- 25:44Speaker 14: Sexting hoards sremire gives to the House.
- 25:48Speaker 3: No, the first play from shrimmaging over time.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Why didn't you know?
- 25:54Speaker 8: You know?
- 25:58Speaker 5: He can't? Ah?
- 26:00Speaker 1: Wow, my good Oh put that on the Call of
- 26:03Speaker 1: the Year list. I don't know if we've been doing
- 26:05Speaker 1: one this year. We should now Jamir Gibbs does it again.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Two hundred and nineteen yards on the ground on only
- 26:13Speaker 1: fifteen carries. He scores three touchdowns on the day. For
- 26:18Speaker 1: you fantasy owners, he adds eleven catches. It's the Jamir
- 26:23Speaker 1: Gibbs offense. He is the best pound for pound player
- 26:26Speaker 1: in the NFL. Like Ali Connelly was saying on our
- 26:30Speaker 1: Saturday show, check that out. The Lions survive all time
- 26:35Speaker 1: Jamis Winston game in terms of entertainment value and win
- 26:39Speaker 1: thirty four to twenty seven in overtime. And yes, they
- 26:45Speaker 1: had to stop Jamis Winston because of the overtime rules.
- 26:49Speaker 1: That touchdown did not end the game on a drive.
- 26:52Speaker 1: While we're here, let's actually listen to another Dan Miller
- 26:56Speaker 1: call because it was another big time player ending the
- 26:58Speaker 1: game for the Lions.
- 27:00Speaker 5: Fourth and five with the Lions get to stop here,
- 27:03Speaker 5: this game's over. Winston's gonna work out of the gun.
- 27:06Speaker 14: Four across the food for Detroit long count play clocket three.
- 27:12Speaker 3: There's the snap to Winston.
- 27:14Speaker 14: He's back on fourth down looking pressure.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Cut the ball.
- 27:19Speaker 14: Games this tall gamell games, Hey notch, it comes up
- 27:23Speaker 14: with a sack.
- 27:24Speaker 12: Get out of here, poys, go to the locker room.
- 27:27Speaker 3: This game's over.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Ah, that's another great call and uh, I do love
- 27:32Speaker 1: a Lomas Brown just screaming in the background.
- 27:35Speaker 5: I believe that was him shook.
- 27:38Speaker 15: Uh.
- 27:39Speaker 5: Look, they needed this.
- 27:40Speaker 1: You cannot slip up to the Giants the way things
- 27:42Speaker 1: are crowded in that division.
- 27:44Speaker 5: What did you think about how hard it was for
- 27:47Speaker 5: the Lions to win this game?
- 27:49Speaker 8: I think that the visceral nature of those two calls
- 27:52Speaker 8: explains it all for the Lions today, because you're absolutely right,
- 27:55Speaker 8: this is a game that they cannot afford to slip up.
- 27:58Speaker 9: They couldn't let this one get away.
- 27:59Speaker 8: They couldn't affor falling to six and five, and they
- 28:01Speaker 8: shouldn't because it's the Giants, a team that hasn't won
- 28:04Speaker 8: in ages, a team that's playing Jameis Winston at quarterback.
- 28:07Speaker 8: You should be able to make him make a mistake
- 28:08Speaker 8: or two because that's what he's known to do. Instead,
- 28:10Speaker 8: Jamis has one of his best days that anybody's gonna remember.
- 28:13Speaker 8: He catches a touchdown pass and it wasn't just catching
- 28:15Speaker 8: in the end zone. It's a catch and run. The
- 28:17Speaker 8: Lions in the fourth quarter had to find themselves just
- 28:19Speaker 8: wondering how did we get here? And it took a
- 28:21Speaker 8: great effort for them just to get into field goal
- 28:24Speaker 8: range to send this to overtime. It was a tough
- 28:27Speaker 8: game for them through all four quarters despite Jamir Gibbs
- 28:30Speaker 8: having such a great game, and felt like the rest
- 28:32Speaker 8: of the offense really couldn't figure it out. Defense couldn't
- 28:34Speaker 8: stop Jamis, who made a bunch of big plays until
- 28:36Speaker 8: Jamiir rips that one off in overtime.
- 28:38Speaker 9: A sixty nine yard run.
- 28:40Speaker 8: Two touchdown runs accounted for one hundred and eighteen yards
- 28:43Speaker 8: of his two hundred and nineteen total yards. He was
- 28:45Speaker 8: the guy for this team and that's why once he
- 28:48Speaker 8: got in the end zone, that was the first time
- 28:49Speaker 8: Lions fans could think, oh my god, we may actually
- 28:51Speaker 8: avoid disaster right now.
- 28:53Speaker 9: And it's all because of the guy in the backfield
- 28:56Speaker 9: with Gibbs in the back of his jersey.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 1: They were down twenty seven seventeen after Winston passed the
- 29:01Speaker 1: gunner Olshefski he or passed from gunner Olshefski and then
- 29:07Speaker 1: immediately Gibbs response, so they're down ten points in the
- 29:10Speaker 1: fourth quarter, Gibbs responds with a forty nine yard touchdown
- 29:13Speaker 1: run that is epic, like all time great Barry Sanders
- 29:18Speaker 1: Hall of Fame type stuff, just putting the team on
- 29:20Speaker 1: his back.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's finishing those runs.
- 29:23Speaker 2: There was the He also almost had another long touchdown
- 29:26Speaker 2: run in the second half where the Giants are able
- 29:29Speaker 2: to get him out of pounds inside the five, and
- 29:31Speaker 2: all that did was delay the Jumior Gibbs touchdown reception
- 29:35Speaker 2: where he catches the ball and extends to get across
- 29:38Speaker 2: the pilot. Just a great game from Gibbs where you wonder.
- 29:41Speaker 2: You look at the numbers and Jamior Gibbs is averaging
- 29:44Speaker 2: fourteen yards to carry and it's like, how how is
- 29:46Speaker 2: this possible that the game goes to overtime when your
- 29:49Speaker 2: best player on offense is averaging fourteen yards to carry.
- 29:52Speaker 2: That's because they couldn't stop Jamis in the first half.
- 29:55Speaker 2: He had two hundred passing yards and two touchdowns in
- 29:58Speaker 2: the first half, like Wandell rob and was almost a
- 30:00Speaker 2: fantasy wide receiver one purely off of what he did
- 30:05Speaker 2: in the first half. It was so much offensive success
- 30:07Speaker 2: where it's like, why have we been keeping the Jamis?
- 30:10Speaker 2: And Mike Kafka wrapped up Also, Yeah, every Giants game
- 30:14Speaker 2: could have potentially.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Been like this, but instead we got the twenty twenty five.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Oh, it goes back to what I've been thinking ever
- 30:19Speaker 1: since Dark came in and Winston. It's like Dable in
- 30:24Speaker 1: this entire organization deserves everything they got for starting Russell
- 30:28Speaker 1: Wilson in the first place. There was a lot of
- 30:30Speaker 1: evidence that Jameis Winston was a much better quarterback entering
- 30:34Speaker 1: twenty twenty five than Russell Wilson. And in Wandale, Yeah,
- 30:38Speaker 1: had one thirty five before halfter, What did he You
- 30:40Speaker 1: didn't like my Russell Wilson Bury all there?
- 30:43Speaker 8: No.
- 30:43Speaker 2: I was reminded that there was another team that was
- 30:46Speaker 2: up three in the fourth quarter late with a gold
- 30:50Speaker 2: to goest situation and eschewed the field goal, ultimately leading
- 30:53Speaker 2: to the loss.
- 30:53Speaker 3: And that was a decision by Mike Kafka.
- 30:55Speaker 2: They were up twenty seven to twenty four, they had
- 30:58Speaker 2: a fourth down end goal, and they had an incomplete pass,
- 31:02Speaker 2: so Detroit didn't have to use use their timeout. Molik
- 31:05Speaker 2: Neighbors is watching from home and sends out this, Sometimes
- 31:10Speaker 2: I think they'd be making us lose on purpose, because
- 31:12Speaker 2: there's no way you throw the ball instead of running
- 31:14Speaker 2: it to make them burn two timeouts. Then you don't
- 31:16Speaker 2: kick the field goal. They have to go down and
- 31:18Speaker 2: score football common sense? Am I missing something? That's what
- 31:21Speaker 2: Melik Neighbors said during the game.
- 31:23Speaker 5: I love that he posted that, and I appreciate it.
- 31:28Speaker 1: You got the tweet you sureing it while READI itt no,
- 31:31Speaker 1: but you left out the four slammers that he put
- 31:34Speaker 1: behind football common sons exclamation point four times?
- 31:38Speaker 5: Am I missing something? And you're right.
- 31:41Speaker 1: That drive for the Giants ended with what under three
- 31:46Speaker 1: minutes to go in the game, and it ends up
- 31:49Speaker 1: being a Jake Baits. It took the Lions that long
- 31:53Speaker 1: Jake Baits fifty nine yard field goal, or else they
- 31:57Speaker 1: would have lost that game.
- 31:58Speaker 5: And yeah, that was an unconventional decision.
- 32:02Speaker 1: I do think the kickoff rule, right or wrong, is
- 32:05Speaker 1: playing a pretty big role in the coach's decisions to
- 32:09Speaker 1: do this, because they're thinking, Okay, if we hit the
- 32:12Speaker 1: field goal, we're up six, but the kickoff is probably coming.
- 32:16Speaker 5: Out to the thirty to thirty five.
- 32:18Speaker 1: That's like thirty yards of field position, whereas in the
- 32:21Speaker 1: past that would have been maybe twenty.
- 32:23Speaker 8: You don't like it, sh I push back against that
- 32:25Speaker 8: because you still have to force that team to go
- 32:26Speaker 8: down and get a touchdown. And what's the role the
- 32:28Speaker 8: worst place to be is up six in a game
- 32:30Speaker 8: because you could still lose and you know they have
- 32:32Speaker 8: to go get a touchdown. That's fine because in this
- 32:33Speaker 8: game the Lions were struggling to do anything outside of
- 32:36Speaker 8: Gibbs ripping one off. I would trust my defense in
- 32:39Speaker 8: that scenario and kick the three go up by six,
- 32:42Speaker 8: so you don't run the risk of Jake Baits hitting
- 32:43Speaker 8: the game tire, which, by the way, the one he
- 32:46Speaker 8: may decided to overtime just barely snuck in there. Imagine
- 32:49Speaker 8: if you're up six and they had to fight just
- 32:51Speaker 8: to get into position there. So I disagree with that,
- 32:52Speaker 8: but I do I agree with what you're saying overall
- 32:54Speaker 8: because field position I think plays a big part in
- 32:56Speaker 8: a lot of these decisions, but in this one specifically,
- 32:58Speaker 8: you kick the field goal, you take points every time.
- 33:00Speaker 9: But that's not with the benefit of hindsight.
- 33:02Speaker 3: But it's also not just the fourth down decision on
- 33:06Speaker 3: the incomplete pass.
- 33:06Speaker 2: There was the second down decision to throw the ball
- 33:09Speaker 2: at all that stopped the clock after the Lions had
- 33:12Speaker 2: called a time out.
- 33:13Speaker 3: I think that's the one that bothers Malik Neighbors and maybe.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Me the way the wide open throw that Jameis Winston missed.
- 33:21Speaker 1: I mean, I can't kill that. That just he missed
- 33:24Speaker 1: the throw, which is a very unfortunately kind of like
- 33:27Speaker 1: Jamisy ending because he was incredible in this game. Can
- 33:32Speaker 1: we can we at least listen to the receiving touchdown?
- 33:35Speaker 1: This is one of the plays of the year.
- 33:38Speaker 16: First in Canada, Detroit thirty three pistol formation. Singletary's the
- 33:42Speaker 16: back behind Winston. Winston pumps his right leg, takes the
- 33:45Speaker 16: snap play faith. They run an end around for Rowshwsky.
- 33:48Speaker 16: Who's gonna throw it?
- 33:49Speaker 3: He does throw it down the up sideline for whisks.
- 33:51Speaker 5: Oh he's as mayor James for the touchdown.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Holy cow, Oh do you.
- 34:00Speaker 10: Want to touch step at people Jameis Winston.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, that's Bob Popa, Oh my gosh, a
- 34:10Speaker 1: w fan and Carl Banks. The transition to the celebration
- 34:13Speaker 1: in front of the camera. Put that on the Jamis
- 34:17Speaker 1: Winston Hall of Fame reel.
- 34:18Speaker 5: That's beautiful.
- 34:19Speaker 2: The famous dual sport athlete at Florida State, who at
- 34:22Speaker 2: quarterback is one of the more awkward movers in NFL history,
- 34:27Speaker 2: somehow gets past the line of scrimmage, shook and turns
- 34:30Speaker 2: into an exciting athlete where Derek Barnes has the worst
- 34:33Speaker 2: rep I've ever seen him have.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Jamus not only adjusted.
- 34:36Speaker 2: To the football but stiff arms Barnes, steps out of
- 34:39Speaker 2: it and goes into the end zone.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Ay.
- 34:41Speaker 8: I saw some shades of Plaxco Burst there on that catch.
- 34:44Speaker 8: I mean, just boxing out the defender and breaking the
- 34:46Speaker 8: tackle adjusting to it in mid air. When el Shewsky
- 34:48Speaker 8: stepped up by the way because he had to step
- 34:50Speaker 8: up into a pocket, that just became a pocket in
- 34:53Speaker 8: the middle of the play. I thought, there's no way
- 34:55Speaker 8: he's throwing at the Jamis downfield. And then he lets
- 34:57Speaker 8: it go and I'm like, oh my god, Jamis is there.
- 34:59Speaker 8: And as soon as he boxed him out, that's when
- 35:00Speaker 8: I was like, oh, this is amazing. The broken tackle
- 35:03Speaker 8: was the cherry on top. I had the celebration. You're right,
- 35:06Speaker 8: Paul fam reel right. And that was the second trick
- 35:08Speaker 8: play that worked for them. They had a throwback pass
- 35:10Speaker 8: to Jamis earlier that he had for a touchdown to
- 35:12Speaker 8: Wandale Robinson to open the scoring.
- 35:14Speaker 9: Wild Day.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Yeah, that was a thirty nine yarder from Jamis.
- 35:18Speaker 1: There was a third and ten from his own end
- 35:21Speaker 1: zone where he throws it totally under fire a ball
- 35:26Speaker 1: that I thought might have scraped the top of the
- 35:28Speaker 1: dome and it goes to Isaiah Hodgens complete down the field.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Just amazing timing, Hut spot everything and talent out of
- 35:38Speaker 1: Jamis and Hodgens there and then he has a third
- 35:40Speaker 1: and seventeen later in that drive. So I disagree with
- 35:44Speaker 1: you both after hitting those plays. You know, Jamis didn't
- 35:48Speaker 1: execute on the play on the goal line, but you
- 35:50Speaker 1: have a guy open on the goal line, you could
- 35:52Speaker 1: go win the game right there. And Nick use the
- 35:54Speaker 1: phrase trust your defense with the two twenty twenty five Giants.
- 35:58Speaker 5: Defense, I'm never trusting defense. They just lost. They just
- 36:02Speaker 5: lost me.
- 36:02Speaker 8: They can get after Jared Goff. You know Brian Burns
- 36:04Speaker 8: a little on that last drive. Brian Burns did go
- 36:06Speaker 8: take a breather, So maybe maybe you're right.
- 36:09Speaker 5: And yeah, it's crazy.
- 36:11Speaker 1: The Gibbs day as great, like they have really leaned
- 36:14Speaker 1: into playing him more forty eight snaps to twenty two
- 36:16Speaker 1: for Montgomery. And I know he hit those two big
- 36:19Speaker 1: plays and that's like most of his yard, but he
- 36:21Speaker 1: had a seventy five percent success or seventy seven percent
- 36:23Speaker 1: success rate on his fronts today, so it was not
- 36:26Speaker 1: even just the long ones. Put that man in whatever
- 36:29Speaker 1: conversation you want, offensive player of the year, I guess,
- 36:32Speaker 1: and I'm glad because if if the Lions had lost
- 36:36Speaker 1: on that play to Jamis Wins, I think you just
- 36:39Speaker 1: have to eliminate them from playoff contention.
- 36:42Speaker 5: I just think your season's over. Wow, you just have
- 36:44Speaker 5: to go home. So it's a good thing.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Like a rule, it's just a new rule.
- 36:47Speaker 5: They're seven.
- 36:50Speaker 1: And man, this NFC North, like all the teams are
- 36:52Speaker 1: a little bit flawed and really have no idea. Who's
- 36:55Speaker 1: going to go out on top. Let's talk about another one.
- 36:58Speaker 1: After this break, you will go to lambeau Field.
- 37:12Speaker 17: It is second down and goal to go inside the
- 37:15Speaker 17: one yard line. Love under center, Wilson alone back. They've
- 37:18Speaker 17: got a wing set up in the right side, and
- 37:21Speaker 17: Love takes hand off up the middle.
- 37:23Speaker 11: It's Wilson to the endside, touch down, and the Packers
- 37:28Speaker 11: cash in and take US sixteen.
- 37:31Speaker 5: To six lead.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Emmanuel Wilson, Congratulations to that young man. Congratulations to the
- 37:38Speaker 1: people who picked him up in fantasy and just played
- 37:41Speaker 1: him right away. Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers who
- 37:44Speaker 1: are seven three and one. They destroy the Minnesota Vikings
- 37:50Speaker 1: twenty three to six in a game where it felt
- 37:55Speaker 1: like the Vikings were not getting into double digits. Shook
- 37:59Speaker 1: if you gave them another sixty minutes of play.
- 38:02Speaker 9: Yeah, you're asolutely right.
- 38:03Speaker 8: In fact, it was so apparent that they weren't getting
- 38:05Speaker 8: into double digits that Matt Lafleur, perhaps uncharacteristically just leaned
- 38:09Speaker 8: on the run in the second half, played as conservatively
- 38:12Speaker 8: as possible, just run heavy, not taking any chances, settling
- 38:16Speaker 8: for field goals, just slowly building that lead because he
- 38:19Speaker 8: watched his defense dominate JJ McCarthy and the whole Vikings offense,
- 38:23Speaker 8: especially in the second half. By the end of this game,
- 38:26Speaker 8: the Vikings they had ten total net yards in the
- 38:29Speaker 8: second half ten. At one point in the fourth quarter,
- 38:31Speaker 8: they were at negative eleven. They were being outgained something
- 38:33Speaker 8: like one forty to negative eleven. Complete domination started with
- 38:37Speaker 8: the Packers defense, and the offense was able to just
- 38:39Speaker 8: ride the ground game. Didn't need Jordan Love to be
- 38:41Speaker 8: a hero, and they were able to ride the ground
- 38:43Speaker 8: game without Josh Jacobs because of Emmanuel Wilson. Great day
- 38:46Speaker 8: for him with a career high one hundred and seven
- 38:49Speaker 8: and two touchdowns and a feel good win for the
- 38:51Speaker 8: Packers who have to really like what they're seeing from
- 38:53Speaker 8: their defense.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Yeah, the defense has taken over against some lackluster offensive competition.
- 38:58Speaker 1: We'll get to the Jj McCarthy of it all, But
- 39:00Speaker 1: what did you see out of the defense in terms
- 39:02Speaker 1: of averaging or only allowing two point two yards per
- 39:07Speaker 1: pass play on the vikings and then picking them off
- 39:10Speaker 1: a couple times late.
- 39:11Speaker 8: I saw a very consistently collapsed pocket and some of
- 39:14Speaker 8: it had to do with JJ holding onto the ball
- 39:16Speaker 8: for an extra beat, which we know that's typical of
- 39:18Speaker 8: him so far in his pro career and dating back
- 39:20Speaker 8: to when he was at Michigan as well.
- 39:22Speaker 9: But it was a pass rush that came at you
- 39:23Speaker 9: from every angle. It wasn't just Micah Parsons. It was
- 39:25Speaker 9: Rashan Gary, it was Devonte Wyatt.
- 39:28Speaker 8: They were game wreckers coming from all different directions, and
- 39:31Speaker 8: especially after you know there's a bit of a shuffle
- 39:34Speaker 8: on the offensive line, like it just gets worse and
- 39:36Speaker 8: worse for McCarthy and the entire offense.
- 39:38Speaker 9: But they just had no hope.
- 39:39Speaker 8: They were backed up inside their five at one point
- 39:41Speaker 8: and McCarthy twice had to run forward just to avoid
- 39:43Speaker 8: getting sacked for a safety. It was complete dominance and
- 39:46Speaker 8: it wasn't just one guy. Parsons obviously does a big
- 39:48Speaker 8: part of it, but this is a complete defensive unit
- 39:53Speaker 8: just imposing their will in Minnesota.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Before before I moved to the JJ Videll actually just
- 39:58Speaker 1: how did Jordan Love look like health wise? Is I
- 40:00Speaker 1: did not have eyes on this too much, and it
- 40:03Speaker 1: just felt like maybe that was part of the decision
- 40:05Speaker 1: making with all the running too.
- 40:06Speaker 8: That was and there was actually a point in the
- 40:08Speaker 8: broadcasts where I think it was Greg Olsen on the
- 40:10Speaker 8: call who was consistently noting that he was handing it
- 40:12Speaker 8: off with the wrong hand oftentimes, which indicates that he
- 40:16Speaker 8: might be dealing with something. And it was an unremarkable
- 40:18Speaker 8: game from him by design, like he finishes fourteen to
- 40:20Speaker 8: twenty one four one thirty nine, but if you had
- 40:22Speaker 8: to recap that game, he doesn't play much of a
- 40:24Speaker 8: part in it. And I think a lot of it
- 40:26Speaker 8: was just built around protecting and avoiding risk, and because
- 40:29Speaker 8: their defense was so good, they were able to do that.
- 40:31Speaker 8: So it's something that we have to, I think, continue
- 40:33Speaker 8: to monitor especially in what has been a very up
- 40:35Speaker 8: and down season for Jordan Love overall. But on a
- 40:38Speaker 8: daylight today, it didn't really matter much, which is good
- 40:40Speaker 8: for them.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're heading into just that monster Thanksgiving game
- 40:44Speaker 1: against the Lions. This is one of the best Thanksgiving
- 40:47Speaker 1: slates we've had, just because the games are so meaningful.
- 40:51Speaker 5: It's now that time, unfortunately, that.
- 40:53Speaker 1: We do have to talk about JJ McCarthy, which at
- 40:55Speaker 1: this point it doesn't feel like fun. First, let's actually
- 40:58Speaker 1: let Wayne Lairvi from w R and W talk a
- 41:02Speaker 1: little bit about JJ McCarthy at least his last pick
- 41:05Speaker 1: of the day.
- 41:06Speaker 17: Swap to the left side, Jefferson, why to the left
- 41:08Speaker 17: balentime that way as well. Safeties are high coverage. Just
- 41:11Speaker 17: saw here's the snap. McCarthy looks Fire's left side and the.
- 41:17Speaker 5: Overthrow better sceptin.
- 41:20Speaker 17: Evan Williams william his second game in a row with
- 41:25Speaker 17: an interception, and that will do it. Evan Williams delivers
- 41:30Speaker 17: his second consecutive dagger.
- 41:35Speaker 5: Love a second consecutive dagger.
- 41:38Speaker 1: We we thought about listening to Paul Allen on Minnesota,
- 41:41Speaker 1: you know, just for the kind of disappointment of it all,
- 41:45Speaker 1: but it just seemed mean and like he might be
- 41:47Speaker 1: over at that point of the game there, four and seven,
- 41:50Speaker 1: like he didn't even really have the juice to be
- 41:52Speaker 1: that sad.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Yeah, we heard Paul on the downside last week.
- 41:57Speaker 2: We had a chance to listen to it before the show,
- 41:59Speaker 2: and it's it's not a person who expected a different
- 42:04Speaker 2: outcome at this point, the offense struggling JJ McCarthy with
- 42:10Speaker 2: a big overstride on that overthrow to Jalen Naylor, who
- 42:13Speaker 2: you wanted that ball a little bit on the inside.
- 42:16Speaker 2: But yeah, the emotions come through from Paul, one of
- 42:19Speaker 2: the best in the game. But he's honest. He's honest
- 42:21Speaker 2: in the way he feels about it. It's not a
- 42:22Speaker 2: good feeling in Minnesota or I.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Don't know if I've ever seen this, Like JJ had
- 42:26Speaker 1: a negative point sixty five EPA per play today and
- 42:29Speaker 1: before those last two interceptions it was actually negative point
- 42:32Speaker 1: four something, So it wasn't even just the turnovers. That
- 42:35Speaker 1: means every time JJ McCarthy is dropping back to pass
- 42:39Speaker 1: like they're giving up two thirds of a point, it's
- 42:42Speaker 1: just a crazy stat What like, what did it look
- 42:46Speaker 1: like when you're trying to isolate his play shook versus
- 42:49Speaker 1: just the Packers defense playing well.
- 42:51Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, that's how in effective they are as
- 42:53Speaker 8: a passing offenseve Jj quarterback. It's funny because I brought
- 42:57Speaker 8: up the Matt Laflord leaning on the run in the
- 42:58Speaker 8: second half. Kevin O'Connell tried to do that in the
- 43:00Speaker 8: first half, like more than probably he's done the entire season,
- 43:04Speaker 8: and it kept them competitive, but it also felt intentional,
- 43:06Speaker 8: as if to not throw his quarterback to the Wolves.
- 43:09Speaker 8: But if this is your starter and you want to
- 43:10Speaker 8: contend with him, eventually you're going to have to test him.
- 43:12Speaker 8: In the second half, they had to test him because
- 43:14Speaker 8: they were the deficit was increasing incrementally, and ultimately he
- 43:18Speaker 8: failed that test. And what you see from him is
- 43:20Speaker 8: inconsistent feet, which O'Connell has talked about trying to marry
- 43:23Speaker 8: the eyes and the feet, and you see somebody who
- 43:26Speaker 8: is not entirely confident in the decisions that he makes,
- 43:30Speaker 8: whether it's with timing, hesitating for half a beat or
- 43:32Speaker 8: a full beat, whether he the pockets collapsing on him.
- 43:35Speaker 8: He doesn't sense the rush, which has been an issue.
- 43:38Speaker 8: He gets his arm hit on his first pick, which
- 43:40Speaker 8: sends it flying right into the hands of a defender
- 43:41Speaker 8: for an interception, or it's just the.
- 43:44Speaker 9: Fact that he doesn't seem like he's up to speed
- 43:46Speaker 9: with the game.
- 43:47Speaker 8: And then when he sails that pass, that's one of
- 43:49Speaker 8: the few times that he throws it in rhythm with
- 43:51Speaker 8: obviously a very big stride. Footwork again not working very well,
- 43:54Speaker 8: but he sails it to the point where you get
- 43:55Speaker 8: the leap from Jalen Neelers if he's like, I have
- 43:57Speaker 8: no shot of getting that ball.
- 43:58Speaker 9: This is just what we're dealing with right now.
- 44:00Speaker 8: It's got to be so frustrating to be a Vikings
- 44:02Speaker 8: receiver right now knowing that the guy who's you know,
- 44:06Speaker 8: directing your offense can can douce makes some magic, but
- 44:09Speaker 8: the quarterback just can't make it happen.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Very difficult decision for Kevin O'Connell. I think whether to
- 44:14Speaker 1: keep playing him because he's at a like Zach Wilson,
- 44:17Speaker 1: early Zach Wilson level right now where it just feels
- 44:21Speaker 1: like maybe you owe it to the team to give
- 44:23Speaker 1: Brosma a chance for a couple of weeks and just
- 44:25Speaker 1: see it if that's any better. Let's listen to Koc
- 44:29Speaker 1: after the game.
- 44:30Speaker 13: I still believe you know, he's he's absolutely under control.
- 44:34Speaker 13: From a play call standpoint. There's little things, you know
- 44:37Speaker 13: that happen, like a quarterback getting tripped up, you know,
- 44:40Speaker 13: on a play pass where you might have a look
- 44:42Speaker 13: at something, or you know, just maybe the dialogue in
- 44:46Speaker 13: the huddle making sure all eleven are on the same pittures.
- 44:48Speaker 13: Little things that come up here and there that just
- 44:51Speaker 13: continue to limit your chances of having ultimate success enough
- 44:55Speaker 13: against the good defense to go put points on the board.
- 44:58Speaker 13: But it is one of those things where I do
- 45:00Speaker 13: believe wholeheartedly that you know, it takes a driver two
- 45:03Speaker 13: of confidence building to truly cement kind of what we
- 45:07Speaker 13: want to be as an offense.
- 45:09Speaker 1: So if their season was not over before this week,
- 45:11Speaker 1: it is now. And unfortunately they had some major injuries
- 45:15Speaker 1: in this game too. Donovan Jackson, their first round guard,
- 45:19Speaker 1: goes out late. Christian Daris saw their left tackle was
- 45:23Speaker 1: hurt during the game, as you kind of heart alluded
- 45:25Speaker 1: to in the call, and Josh Mattelis, their great safety,
- 45:27Speaker 1: was also hurt. So when it rains, it pours for
- 45:30Speaker 1: the Vikings. But yeah, the Packers set up a really
- 45:33Speaker 1: big one On Thanksgiving. We'll be talking about that on
- 45:35Speaker 1: Tuesday will be our Thanksgiving preview. Let's wrap up the
- 45:38Speaker 1: NFC North here with the team that was leading the
- 45:42Speaker 1: division heading into Sunday.
- 45:44Speaker 5: Fourth one seconds snap back Rudolph pro wep.
- 45:48Speaker 12: A complete it was better Gov. Bears are gonna win
- 45:52Speaker 12: this one. Betet down again. The Bears got their hands
- 45:57Speaker 12: up on fourth don at six and we got a Oh,
- 46:03Speaker 12: Jeff Joniak, He's on this show every freaking week. Thirty
- 46:07Speaker 12: one twenty eight. Bears survive another one, this time over
- 46:13Speaker 12: the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 46:16Speaker 5: So that's a win?
- 46:17Speaker 1: What by three points today, two points last week, four
- 46:22Speaker 1: points a few weeks back before that, and five points
- 46:26Speaker 1: against the Bengals are a team that finds a way
- 46:30Speaker 1: to get it done.
- 46:31Speaker 5: How did they get it done today?
- 46:32Speaker 3: Patrick Well?
- 46:33Speaker 2: I will call it because I thought of a name
- 46:35Speaker 2: for Dennis Allen's defense. They are the bend and break
- 46:38Speaker 2: their hearts defense from the Chicago Bears. Where it works
- 46:42Speaker 2: once again. The Steelers a mass three hundred and forty
- 46:44Speaker 2: five net yards. They outgained the Bears. They converted eight
- 46:46Speaker 2: to fourteen first downs. They got big chunk plays like
- 46:49Speaker 2: Kenneth Gainwell on a fake tush push where all the
- 46:51Speaker 2: fake tousch pushes are way more successful than the actual
- 46:54Speaker 2: touch pushes going around in the league. Kenneth Kennedy had
- 46:57Speaker 2: a fifty two yard or somehow didn't get in, but
- 46:59Speaker 2: they don't let him score. They let Jaylen Warren score,
- 47:02Speaker 2: by the way, so Kenny g leads the Steelers in rushing.
- 47:06Speaker 2: But you get another great Nashan Wright interception where he
- 47:09Speaker 2: almost does the same thing he did last week, where
- 47:11Speaker 2: it's a great one hand essentially interception to rob dk
- 47:14Speaker 2: Metcalf of a completion on the sideline. And then late
- 47:17Speaker 2: you get Montes Sweat getting the Bears an extra possession
- 47:21Speaker 2: with a strip sack. He has six and a half
- 47:23Speaker 2: sacks over his last six games. And yeah, they give
- 47:26Speaker 2: up yards, but this team is going to get the
- 47:29Speaker 2: ball from You get an extra possession or two in
- 47:32Speaker 2: this instance, and get enough to hold on and get
- 47:35Speaker 2: a win. In the fourth quarter against a Steelers team
- 47:38Speaker 2: with Mason Rudolph that did move the ball. They lost
- 47:40Speaker 2: dk Metcalf for a stretch in this game. He would
- 47:43Speaker 2: eventually come back. Joey Porter Junior also left this game,
- 47:46Speaker 2: which had an impact on the defense. But you get
- 47:49Speaker 2: three touchdowns from Caleb nice work with the ball.
- 47:52Speaker 1: He did.
- 47:54Speaker 3: End up falling victim to t J.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Watt had another strip sack herbig jumped on top of
- 47:59Speaker 2: it for a touchdown. One hundred and fifteen career sacks
- 48:02Speaker 2: for TJ Watt. He passed JJ Watt. Yeah, famously Justin
- 48:06Speaker 2: James Watt, who played for the Houston Texans. So, Greg,
- 48:10Speaker 2: I'm going to ask you, how many sacks does TJ
- 48:12Speaker 2: need to, in your mind be a better player than
- 48:15Speaker 2: JJ Watt.
- 48:18Speaker 5: I don't think there's a number.
- 48:19Speaker 3: Oh.
- 48:20Speaker 1: I think what TJ would have to do is be
- 48:23Speaker 1: the one of the best players ever for like a
- 48:27Speaker 1: couple of seasons in a row. And I and it's
- 48:30Speaker 1: crazy to say that, because you're making me. You're the
- 48:32Speaker 1: one that says, oh, you don't like to compare him.
- 48:34Speaker 3: I know, but their brothers in the stat was there.
- 48:36Speaker 1: As I say, TJ Watt is a inner circle, first
- 48:40Speaker 1: ballot Hall of Famer yep. And yet I don't think
- 48:44Speaker 1: there's anything he could do because I think JJ Watt
- 48:48Speaker 1: is the best defensive player since I started covering football,
- 48:51Speaker 1: which is like twenty something years now, which is crazy
- 48:53Speaker 1: twenty years.
- 48:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I think he's the best. So I don't think.
- 48:56Speaker 5: I don't think. I don't think TJ could get it
- 48:58Speaker 5: number five.
- 48:59Speaker 1: By the way, on our top twenty five players of
- 49:00Speaker 1: the last twenty five, we know what TJ was on
- 49:02Speaker 1: that list.
- 49:03Speaker 5: Yeah, look credit to.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Him, just down because there's nothing he can do.
- 49:06Speaker 5: He was like twenty one.
- 49:07Speaker 3: He ketch big brother.
- 49:08Speaker 5: He can climb that list, but we'll get into the
- 49:10Speaker 5: top five would be tough.
- 49:11Speaker 2: There was nothing he could do on one of the
- 49:12Speaker 2: biggest defensive possessions because the Steelers again that chances in
- 49:15Speaker 2: the second half, there was a third down where the
- 49:18Speaker 2: Steelers secondary just releases DJ Moore to the grass. They
- 49:21Speaker 2: were trying to pass DJ Moore on Essentially there was
- 49:25Speaker 2: no defender there and so Caleb Williams hits him for
- 49:28Speaker 2: his third touchdown of the day. There's a chance though,
- 49:32Speaker 2: with Mason Rudolph in a comeback attempt. He hit Pat
- 49:34Speaker 2: Friarmouth for six and then got the ball back with
- 49:37Speaker 2: a minute and twenty nine.
- 49:38Speaker 3: Seconds to go.
- 49:39Speaker 2: But there was Jakwan Brisker on fourth down, the call
- 49:41Speaker 2: that you heard from Jony k as they fade to
- 49:44Speaker 2: black and the Bears get another big.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Hell, let's listen to another call from Jonyack it could
- 49:48Speaker 1: that play because to me, it was typical of what
- 49:50Speaker 1: we've seen a little too often from the Steelers defense
- 49:52Speaker 1: this year.
- 49:53Speaker 6: Third got a sixth shotgunch staff caleob Toasch thetball playing up,
- 49:58Speaker 6: but got a Steamni Scott j More Touchcot Bears Baby bearsipticably.
- 50:06Speaker 5: I mean, there's nowhere nobody on the screen.
- 50:09Speaker 1: It just you just see that more often, and in
- 50:12Speaker 1: a game where the Steelers had a higher success rate
- 50:15Speaker 1: passing the ball, a higher success rate running the ball,
- 50:19Speaker 1: you just see these mistakes sometimes from the Steelers defense
- 50:22Speaker 1: and they're just not as complete as you want them
- 50:25Speaker 1: to be. Ultimately, I guess we get Aaron Rodgers back
- 50:30Speaker 1: next week. Mike Tomlins said after the game, I thought
- 50:33Speaker 1: it might look a little different with Mason Rudolph, and
- 50:35Speaker 1: it ultimately didn't.
- 50:37Speaker 5: Really. We did not have a wide receiver top thirty
- 50:39Speaker 5: six yards in this game.
- 50:40Speaker 9: Shook no, and that's not surprising.
- 50:42Speaker 8: What infuriates me with the Steelers team is you just
- 50:44Speaker 8: never get the complimentary football. You get one week where
- 50:46Speaker 8: the defense is really good, like last week against Cincinnati,
- 50:49Speaker 8: you get this week where the offense isn't great, but statistically,
- 50:51Speaker 8: they put up, you know, three hundred and forty five yards.
- 50:53Speaker 8: They're in the game, it's thirty one twenty eight to
- 50:55Speaker 8: the nyl and the defense drops the ball. And that
- 50:58Speaker 8: is why I think that they perfectly present their record
- 51:00Speaker 8: at six and five.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Now.
- 51:02Speaker 8: They are a near five hundred team with the potential
- 51:05Speaker 8: to put together a great performance against a good team
- 51:08Speaker 8: and challenge them, but ultimately cannot be trusted to produce
- 51:11Speaker 8: in big spots against red hot teams like the Bears,
- 51:14Speaker 8: especially on the road, which is a bummer.
- 51:16Speaker 9: And I don't think Aaron Rodgers makes that any better
- 51:17Speaker 9: for them.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Unfortunately, Yeah, they Caleb Williams play was probably the worst
- 51:22Speaker 1: sack that he's took this year in terms of not
- 51:25Speaker 1: understanding he needed to get rid of the ball there
- 51:27Speaker 1: and spinning back. But a Bears fan hit me up
- 51:30Speaker 1: after that one was like, the difference is now the
- 51:32Speaker 1: Bears have a Caleb Williams a quarterback and he's playing
- 51:36Speaker 1: the way where immediately he responds with like a touchdown
- 51:39Speaker 1: drive after that. So kudos to the Bears staying atop
- 51:43Speaker 1: this division, and kudos to Ben Johnson proven all those
- 51:46Speaker 1: people wrong who said that he just didn't have.
- 51:49Speaker 5: It as like a leader.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Is he a leader of men? Or is he some
- 51:52Speaker 1: sort of egghead? I mean he's he might be the
- 51:54Speaker 1: biggest star in the locker room this year.
- 51:56Speaker 18: Oh yeah, I tell you what.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I tell you what.
- 52:02Speaker 3: It takes a village.
- 52:04Speaker 18: It takes a village. And I'm talking about players, I'm
- 52:07Speaker 18: talking about coaches, I'm talking about training staff, I'm talking
- 52:10Speaker 18: about everybody in this building. And here we are that
- 52:15Speaker 18: half the season and our depth is being tested. All right,
- 52:21Speaker 18: how we're gonna win this game? We got no linebacker?
- 52:30Speaker 3: You guys so bad at I I love that they
- 52:33Speaker 3: have fun of Chicago.
- 52:34Speaker 5: They they're doing that you make a pint.
- 52:38Speaker 1: I'm just gonna go, uh huh, doing straight up migos
- 52:43Speaker 1: ad libs for Ben Johnson. That's how you know you
- 52:47Speaker 1: got it, man, Go Bears. Eight and three, Mama, let's
- 52:55Speaker 1: just go. Let's go to Let's go to Tennessee, Seattle.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, this stact.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Let's not go.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Let's just point out the fact that the Steelers fell
- 53:04Speaker 1: to six and five today, and after having such a
- 53:06Speaker 1: big lead in the AFC North, there was a risk, yes,
- 53:09Speaker 1: that they gave up that division lead before Thanksgiving.
- 53:13Speaker 5: The Ravels will go for it on fourth end goal.
- 53:17Speaker 15: DeAndre Hopkins splits out wide to the right, Z eight
- 53:19Speaker 15: flowers to the left, Derrick Henry alone to the backfield.
- 53:21Speaker 15: Lamar unders center on fourth end goal from the Jets too.
- 53:26Speaker 15: The gives to Henry right side.
- 53:28Speaker 5: He's got a holy g in touch then.
- 53:31Speaker 1: Driven easy pasy Derrick Henry and that run. But it
- 53:38Speaker 1: was not in easy games for Derrick Henry and this
- 53:42Speaker 1: Ravens team trail that halftime, struggled with an opponent that
- 53:48Speaker 1: they would seem to overmatch on paper again, but end
- 53:52Speaker 1: up winning by a couple scores. Again, these games have
- 53:56Speaker 1: been consistent, Patrick, twenty three to ten.
- 53:58Speaker 5: Does that make you feel any better?
- 54:01Speaker 2: No, it did not make me feel better because the
- 54:04Speaker 2: concerns over the past few weeks of eight moving around
- 54:07Speaker 2: more slowly and sluggish and looking like he's uncomfortable in
- 54:11Speaker 2: the pocket. Today was the biggest example of that, in
- 54:15Speaker 2: a game where Torod Taylor had more passing yards, more completions,
- 54:19Speaker 2: and more touchdowns than Lamar, who was coming off a
- 54:22Speaker 2: streak of thirty consecutive games with a touchdown pass and
- 54:25Speaker 2: now there's no touchdowns in his last two games.
- 54:28Speaker 3: You have to go back to twenty nineteen for that.
- 54:31Speaker 2: And other than literally the Derrick Henry touchdown run which
- 54:35Speaker 2: pat Riccard comes around and blows up that side of
- 54:38Speaker 2: the field. They could blocking on that play and Henry
- 54:39Speaker 2: is able to walk in. Everything was a slog. It
- 54:42Speaker 2: was difficult. Kyle Hamilton left the game multiple times, comes
- 54:46Speaker 2: back in, which is something that you know, you grow
- 54:48Speaker 2: accustomed to Kyle Hamilton doing.
- 54:50Speaker 5: At this point, did he finish the game.
- 54:52Speaker 2: He didn't finish the He went into the locker room
- 54:55Speaker 2: stayed in after the game. Coach Tarball said nothing major
- 54:58Speaker 2: concerning at this point for Kyle Hamilton, which is good
- 55:01Speaker 2: news because the defense once again held the opponent under
- 55:04Speaker 2: twenty points and the offense just scratched out enough in
- 55:09Speaker 2: this sense, but the way things are currently constructed and
- 55:11Speaker 2: they're currently playing on offense where receivers aren't necessarily getting
- 55:16Speaker 2: a ton of separation, the time is a little You know,
- 55:22Speaker 2: Lamar had a lot of time to throw, which he
- 55:23Speaker 2: typically does because he extends plays, but his ability to
- 55:27Speaker 2: be explosive back there is a big part of holding
- 55:30Speaker 2: the ball and clearly not one hundred percent, and the
- 55:32Speaker 2: whole offense in general is not at one hundred.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Yeah, they were held under two hundred and fifty yards
- 55:37Speaker 1: against a Jets team. It's almost doing it perfectly in
- 55:42Speaker 1: terms of they're competing every week. But there are probably
- 55:45Speaker 1: some fans that wouldn't mind getting a higher draftic. They're
- 55:47Speaker 1: not embarrassing themselves. They've definitely improved on defense, especially they
- 55:51Speaker 1: hold the Ravens under two hundred and fifty yards. Now,
- 55:54Speaker 1: the Ravens have held six straight opponents under twenty points,
- 55:58Speaker 1: and one of them was the Rams. The rest of them,
- 56:00Speaker 1: you know, and one of them was the Bears, who
- 56:02Speaker 1: is a very good offense. They have found different formulas
- 56:07Speaker 1: to win. You're an AFC North expert, Shook, having lived
- 56:11Speaker 1: in Ohio. How are you feeling about the fact that
- 56:15Speaker 1: everyone was right? Yeah, the Ravens are going to catch
- 56:17Speaker 1: the Steelers. They've already caught them. I mean, it's a tie,
- 56:20Speaker 1: but they're winning the tiebreaker right now. How do you
- 56:23Speaker 1: feel about where this Ravens team is at though? With
- 56:26Speaker 1: these wins like Vikings, this Browns game, the Jets game,
- 56:29Speaker 1: even the Dolphins game, they all feel pretty similar.
- 56:32Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean you could sound cliche and just say
- 56:34Speaker 8: a win's a win right, and that's really what matters
- 56:35Speaker 8: most of them at this point. I would like to
- 56:37Speaker 8: think that they're a team that's going to peak at
- 56:39Speaker 8: the right time, and they're just kind of building that way.
- 56:41Speaker 8: It's just that it's it's so small and increments that
- 56:45Speaker 8: there's not really like a case building that that's actually
- 56:48Speaker 8: going to come to fruition. And it starts with Lamar.
- 56:50Speaker 8: But the side that you have to be really confident
- 56:53Speaker 8: in is this defense. For what you just said, holding
- 56:55Speaker 8: a bunch of teams under twenty points. Ever since they
- 56:57Speaker 8: acquired a Loie Gilman, they've been able to go to
- 56:59Speaker 8: this three s ifety look that's allowed them to look,
- 57:01Speaker 8: you know, present so many different defensive looks for opposing
- 57:04Speaker 8: quarterbacks that they're just super effective in coverage. They can
- 57:06Speaker 8: do a number of different things with a personnel grouping
- 57:09Speaker 8: that is unorthodox by today's standard, even in the in
- 57:11Speaker 8: the world that we live in where everybody's prettymuch running
- 57:13Speaker 8: nikel defense as their base defense. And I think that
- 57:15Speaker 8: that is what's going to carry them through this period.
- 57:19Speaker 8: And you hope that eventually Lamar gets healthy enough or
- 57:22Speaker 8: comfortable enough that their offense opens back up, because it
- 57:25Speaker 8: just hasn't. And I think that when they played the
- 57:27Speaker 8: Browns last week that did not do them a favor
- 57:29Speaker 8: because they couldn't get in any rhythm in that game
- 57:30Speaker 8: because that Brown's defense was all over them. And so
- 57:33Speaker 8: it's not surprising to see them only put up twenty
- 57:34Speaker 8: three points and struggle in a game like this. It
- 57:36Speaker 8: was the perfect time for the Jets to turn to
- 57:38Speaker 8: Tyrod as opposed to justin Fields to give them a
- 57:40Speaker 8: chance to be competitive, which I think, you know, played
- 57:42Speaker 8: a part in this game. But ultimately, when I look
- 57:44Speaker 8: at the Ravens, I'm still very confident that they're going
- 57:46Speaker 8: to win the division. They're going to be in the playoffs,
- 57:48Speaker 8: and you hope that they peak at the right time
- 57:51Speaker 8: so you can take them seriously as a team that
- 57:53Speaker 8: can win in the playoffs.
- 57:54Speaker 5: I just, you know, I want to look at it closer.
- 57:56Speaker 1: But on a day where the Jets got like no
- 57:58Speaker 1: pass rush, their pressure rate is really low, and the
- 58:03Speaker 1: Ravens offense has like a very low success rate against
- 58:07Speaker 1: the Jets, little surprising thirty five percent compared to fifty
- 58:11Speaker 1: percent for the Jets. But they are in first place
- 58:14Speaker 1: and they will be playing on Thanksgiving night, against the Bengals,
- 58:18Speaker 1: and yes, they'll have to try to win that game
- 58:20Speaker 1: to stay atop the NFC or the AFC North. Let's
- 58:24Speaker 1: now flip over to the NFC and see if the
- 58:28Speaker 1: Seahawks could take care of business down in Tennessee.
- 58:31Speaker 3: Third down and six slot to the New York side.
- 58:34Speaker 17: Smith and Jigman now comes over from left to life
- 58:37Speaker 17: four man rush.
- 58:38Speaker 6: Donald has time, gonna let it fly, got a man
- 58:40Speaker 6: jsid makes the Cats, takes the tackle.
- 58:43Speaker 5: He's gonna back into the end zone for a touchdown.
- 58:47Speaker 11: Shayhawks sixty three yards single coverage.
- 58:54Speaker 5: You guys know better than that Tennessee, do they?
- 59:00Speaker 13: Yeah?
- 59:00Speaker 1: It was actually one of two different times on this
- 59:03Speaker 1: day where they got Jackson Smith and Jigba singled up
- 59:07Speaker 1: on a safety and he took it to the house.
- 59:10Speaker 5: Well, not each time.
- 59:11Speaker 1: Eight for one, sixty seven and two touchdowns overall. Not
- 59:15Speaker 1: only did he have that that long one, he also
- 59:18Speaker 1: had a fifty six yarder in the game that did
- 59:21Speaker 1: not go for a score. Jackson Smith and Jigba has
- 59:24Speaker 1: set the all time franchise record for yards by a
- 59:29Speaker 1: Seahawks receiver in a season in Week twelve. In Week twelve,
- 59:34Speaker 1: you know how you always have to be like, well,
- 59:35Speaker 1: you know the season's line, like there was never a
- 59:38Speaker 1: season that was shorter than twelve games. It's ridiculous. He
- 59:43Speaker 1: is really incredible, and I'll just say it here. Patrick
- 59:48Speaker 1: score this one for the Jackson Smith and JIGBA MVP campaign.
- 59:52Speaker 2: I think at a certain point, after after the four
- 59:56Speaker 2: i NT game, perhaps we don't we don't give these
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: points to Sam Donald now or if the Seahawks win,
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: those points generally are going to JSN.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: And Donald had an uneven game. I know the stats
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: look great in those I mean, every one of his
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: deep throws to JSN is like better than the last.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: It was really awesome, like that particular throw, but the
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: other deep one was great too. But he had a
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: couple turnover where he plays in this game. He was
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: lucky not to get picked off a couple different times
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: it didn't happen, and so they got away with it.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: And overall, thirty to twenty four is the final score,
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: and it was not as close as that would indicate.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Because Chamary DK, who might be making All Pro as
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: a return man as a rookie, which is pretty great
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: for the Titans, return another punt return. So that's one
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: of the Titans touchdowns. And then they had a never
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: ending drive at the end.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: Of the game.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: They ended their chance to win with a touchdown drive.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: They they did they It really did feel like they
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: were kind of just trying to score to make themselves
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: feel better. But it took forever for them to score
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: at the end of the game and essentially ended the game.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: And if you watch Mike McCoy the interim head coaches
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: press conference after it, you would thought they won the game.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: They were so happy, And I think that was because
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: cam Ward played awesome in this game. It was his
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: best game of the season. It was one of the
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: best games any quarterback has had against the Seahawks. And
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: if nothing else, he also led the team in rushing.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: That was one reason why they were not competitive in
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: this game is they had Their success rate was through
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: the floor in terms of Tony Pollard and Tyzeri spears.
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: But cam Ward looked great.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I'm not sure we can really drive much else from
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Titans games for the rest of the year.
- 1:01:36Speaker 8: No, And I think that's got to be the focus
- 1:01:38Speaker 8: from here on out is how much progress does cam
- 1:01:41Speaker 8: Ward make him and Shamiri dk and, like I a
- 1:01:43Speaker 8: manner like the future of the team kind of worry
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: about the running game. I mean, I have a lot
- 1:01:48Speaker 8: of respect for Tony Pollard, but I also know that
- 1:01:50Speaker 8: the offensive line, no matter how much they've invested in it,
- 1:01:52Speaker 8: is just not a good group and it's not good
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: for run blocking. So I don't hold that against Tony
- 1:01:57Speaker 8: Pollard necessarily, But it's got to be all about cam
- 1:01:59Speaker 8: Ward because that is obviously your franchise quarterback. You spent
- 1:02:02Speaker 8: the number one pick on him, and you're also going
- 1:02:03Speaker 8: to have a really high pick again, and you don't
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: have to spend it on quarterback as long as you
- 1:02:07Speaker 8: keep him on that path. So it's really encouraging to
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: see him have, you know, the best game of his
- 1:02:12Speaker 8: season because you know, like when I do QB index,
- 1:02:14Speaker 8: he's always in that lower third.
- 1:02:16Speaker 9: But I kind of want to nudge him up, and
- 1:02:17Speaker 9: he has like a bad game.
- 1:02:19Speaker 8: It's just that the Titans are so bad that he
- 1:02:22Speaker 8: can only do so much, and so to see him
- 1:02:24Speaker 8: have a good game like this, it gives me a
- 1:02:26Speaker 8: lot of, you know, reason to bump him up, because
- 1:02:28Speaker 8: I think he's been fairly steady in most of his
- 1:02:30Speaker 8: games this season.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I was locked into this one, and I was noting
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: at halftime and even going into the third quarter. They
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: had three points at that point, and then he missed
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: the throw on a screen to Spears, and I was like,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: that's the first even minor mistake Kim Word has made
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: in this game. He was playing about a perfect game,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: and yet they had three points on the board, which.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: I think exactly what the Titans are right it really,
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: but he.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Hits a deep shot, he has another deep shot that
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: hits his receiver in the hands. He has a play
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: a dime over the middle to James Proche. They started
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Van Jefferson, Chamiaradka and James Proche at wide receiver. The
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: leading receiver is Gunner Helm on this day, and the
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: coaches have been telling Ward to run more, and I
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: think it was a coaching point in this game because
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: there were many key important moments where he did run
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: the ball and get first downs with his legs. And
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: then yeah, if you're watching this game on YouTube, you'll
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: see this isn't a throw of the Year candidate, because
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: if we had cam Ward throwing the ball against his body,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: across his body while going out of bounds like another one,
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: I think we have seven of them this year, but
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: there was a crazy third and nine that was just
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: awesome to Xavier Ristreppo, who Titans, you know, fans have
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: been calling for all season and they got him. He
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: had a lot more conventional throws in this game, but
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: it was nice to see the cam Ward specialist.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Yeah, they were calling for him because it's you know,
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: we've it's an eligible because we do have cam Ward
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: fadeaway out of bounds shots, but none to Xavier or
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: Strepplo because that's his first career catch on that great
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: ball from cam Ward where it was all day. He
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: was pressured on forty two percent of his dropbacks. In
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: those dropbacks, he was nine or fourteen four one hundred
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: yards with a plus eleven completion percentage over expected against
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: a defense that has dogged everybody, including you know, the
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: Rams got the win.
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: But Matthew Stafford a couple weeks ago.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: And you might have thought, okay, well, cam Ward holds
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: onto the ball, that's why the pressure rate. So I No,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: in this game, he was getting rid of.
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: The ball for the most part.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: Derek Hall of the Seahawks had five quick pressures on
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: his own. The Seahawks actually, you know, struggled other than
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: really Derek Hall to get like a ton of quick pressure.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: But for the most part, like they were better. I
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: thought cam Ward like for one game, like outplayed Sam
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Darnald by just a little bit. But we shouldn't give
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: too much credit. Seattle had a big lead in this game.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: They did what good teams need to do, and they
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: did give the ball to Kenneth Walker a little more
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: or he played a higher percentage of snaps today, which
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: I was interested to see. He had two thirds of
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: the snaps and two thirds of the touches, and going
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: into the week, they kind of said that that was
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: what's gonna happen, so they might be kind of riding
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: ken Walker. And they ran the ball quite well today
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: against the Titans. So they take care of business. Only
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: uh three losses on the season, eight and three for
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: the Seahawks. Let's take a break and uh we will
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: be back on the other side. We have not checked
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: in with the New England Patriots.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: The Bengals in a two by two set set me
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: down in five lockoes under center the veteran quarterback with
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: a play fake and.
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: A deep drop a lot of time double back kickball
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: for upside fifteen to ten, Come on around back over
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: the end zone.
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: Let's mark as Jones.
- 1:05:52Speaker 12: I never picked six against six and thirty.
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: Oh boy, I don't look you up.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: It's amazing how quickty ten fick.
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: You needed the touchdown on offense, you needed a getoff
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: on defense.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Oh that's Scott Zolek on w b Z along with
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Bob Sochi. The Marcus Jones Pro Bowl season continues apace.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: He also had the game ceiling pass defense on the
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: very last play of the game. Yes, the Cincinnati Bengals
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: were in it until the last play of the game,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: but the Patriots escaped twenty six to twenty and Joe
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Flacco and all the magic that he's brought is, you know,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: come back to Earth. They don't want to pick on
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: him too much. But on a day where the Bengals
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: defense showed up, shook and got a lot of stops
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: in the red zone, especially on the one yard line,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: the Bengals offense without Jamar Chase and then without T
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: Higgins late in the game wasn't up for the challenge.
- 1:06:54Speaker 8: Yeah, there was even a bad sequence in the fourth
- 1:06:56Speaker 8: quarter where yoshavask goes down Andrey Yoshvasco's down. The next played,
- 1:07:00Speaker 8: t Higgins goes down and you're like, oh man, what
- 1:07:02Speaker 8: else do the Bengals have to deal with. It's already
- 1:07:04Speaker 8: a rough day for them offensively, but you know, not
- 1:07:06Speaker 8: to start negative and everything. But that's kind of the
- 1:07:08Speaker 8: story of the game, is that their defense gave them chances.
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: They made it tough for Drake May and the Patriots
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: offense throughout most of the day, and the Bengals offense
- 1:07:16Speaker 8: simply couldn't capitalize. Now, that pick six that we just
- 1:07:18Speaker 8: played was Joe Flacco's second pick six in as many weeks,
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: and each of them are equally as ugly, which kind
- 1:07:24Speaker 8: of just captures where the Bengals offense is right now.
- 1:07:27Speaker 8: And in games in which their defense does show up
- 1:07:29Speaker 8: and their offense fails to show up or at least
- 1:07:32Speaker 8: do their part, that explains why they've lost both of
- 1:07:34Speaker 8: those games and why they're three to eight right now. Now.
- 1:07:36Speaker 8: On the Patriots side, you give them credit because Drake May,
- 1:07:39Speaker 8: they got enough done in the first half to be
- 1:07:41Speaker 8: able to just kind of chip away with the field goals,
- 1:07:43Speaker 8: but they need to look really inward here going forward
- 1:07:46Speaker 8: at their red zone offense, because it was bad today.
- 1:07:49Speaker 8: They had a sequence of nine plays, six of which
- 1:07:52Speaker 8: were on the Bengals one, and they didn't get any
- 1:07:55Speaker 8: points out of it. They went back down there again
- 1:07:57Speaker 8: four plays, the last one field goal because Mike Frabele
- 1:08:00Speaker 8: learned from the earlier go for an attempt and decided,
- 1:08:03Speaker 8: let's just take the points.
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: Three points counts. Patrick.
- 1:08:05Speaker 9: It's a good thing he took the points, because that's
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: what they won by six.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: It was a rage field goal decision. You look over
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: the camera cuts to Mike Rabel to see what he's
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: going to do. He's already got three fingers up and
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: very frustrated fashion because they it wasn't just a goal
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: on stop on third down end goal on the previous
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: goal one stand, they got a they got a holding penalty,
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: They gave him first and goal again.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: At the one, and they still didn't get it.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: They had seven snaps total from the one because there
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: was one other one on the ensuing drive that they
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: got from the one. They didn't score one time. And
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: that's why I worry for this Patriots team, which is
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: ten and two but lost the left side of their
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: offensive line to injuries today. Jared Wilson, you know, their
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: their third round pick who's been playing left guard for
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: them and has had his shaff struggles this year, is
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: carted off today with an injury, and then Will Campbell
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: is carted off with the knee injury. He had the
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: towel over his head as he was carded off. It
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: didn't look good. We're not going to speculate at this point,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: but obviously if they lose both those guys, especially Campbell,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: who has stabilized that left tackle and been playing really
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: solid for them, they could be in trouble. Because I
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: saw something written about this game that's, like, you know,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: the Patriots rookies have helped to change their offensive line
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: from embarrassing to above average this season, and now they'll
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: be tested, and I'm like, they're not above average.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: They've been bad.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Will Campbell's probably been their best player at left tackle,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: but they've just gone from by far the league's worst
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: to like acceptable in parts. But their running game has
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: been terrible for a reason, and it's their offensive line.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: The red zone offense you mentioned today and Drake May
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: entering this week, has faced the second most amount of
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: quick pressures in the entire NFL. Only the Chargers have
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: been worse in terms of quick pressures. So these injuries
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: I think really calls into question how they going to
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: construct an offense moving forward.
- 1:10:02Speaker 8: Yeah, absolutely, especially when you can't consistently run the ball.
- 1:10:05Speaker 8: And now you've lost half of your offensive line, so
- 1:10:06Speaker 8: you're definitely not gonna be able to consistently run the ball.
- 1:10:08Speaker 9: It's just going to put more on the shoulders of.
- 1:10:09Speaker 8: Drake May, which to this point he's been able to
- 1:10:12Speaker 8: handle it, and you give him credit for that, but
- 1:10:13Speaker 8: I think today was the first preview of what it
- 1:10:15Speaker 8: might look like if he's not able to handle it,
- 1:10:17Speaker 8: or if the road is just too bumpy for him
- 1:10:19Speaker 8: to find you a steady rhythm, because that's basically what
- 1:10:22Speaker 8: this entire offense was in the second half, him missing throws,
- 1:10:25Speaker 8: him being pressured and rolling out and not having time
- 1:10:27Speaker 8: to throw or find somebody, people not getting open. The
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: one time he throws a touchdown pass in the end zone,
- 1:10:32Speaker 8: it's a product of an offensive pass interference because it's
- 1:10:34Speaker 8: a pick play. Like these are challenges that they're going
- 1:10:36Speaker 8: to encounter going forward. If they are limited offensively, too
- 1:10:40Speaker 8: much is going to be on their quarterback, and that
- 1:10:41Speaker 8: is why you should be concerned about them. But I'm
- 1:10:43Speaker 8: not going to take away from the fact that the
- 1:10:45Speaker 8: first team to ten wins in the NFL. All right,
- 1:10:47Speaker 8: I'll give that that credit.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: That's amazing. And the Bills lose earlier in the week.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: They're up a two and a half games in the standings,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: a couple games in the lost column. Those games against
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: the Bills and Ravens like looking even more interesting coming up.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: But I think they're going to have to have their
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: their defense step up. It's it's not just about, you know,
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: one side of the ball. I think they could do it.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: They did get kesh On Booty back today and Ramandre
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: Stevenson back today and they made it work. And the Bengals,
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: who might get Joe Burrow back on Thanksgiving just just
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: to enter is massive.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Yes, Niggaly Booty is massive, Greg, as you know, his
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: return helps. As you know, a team that has relied
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: on explosive plays didn't didn't get very many today. I
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: thought there was gonna be a great opportunity with the matchup,
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: but as you mentioned, al Golden's defense stood strong and
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: the gift basket may need to go from Voxborough to
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: Jalen Ramsey for being involved in this situation where if
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: Jamar Chase is in this game because should pointed it out,
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: Yoshi goes down, there's no Higgins relying heavily on Mitch
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Tinsley in the fourth quarter, who did have a touchdown
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: catch where if if Joe has more options that he's
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: not looking staring down the chick in the flat for
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Marcus Jones to take the other way.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: This game is entirely.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Different preseason superstar Mitch Tinsley. That's why you watch the
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: games in August, man. Yeah, and it's unfortunately we will
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: almost certainly won't get to see t Higgins on Thanksgiving.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: Jamar Chase will be eligible to be back.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: T Higgins' mom did tweet out that it that she thought,
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: you know, her son was okay, and by that, I
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: think just like feeling okay.
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: But it would be.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: Surprising, you know, if he goes through the protocol quick
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: enough to play on Thursday night, so they'll have that
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: game against the Ravens. Let's go to Arizona, the game
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: that truly made Patrick lose his mind.
- 1:12:40Speaker 19: They're not showing blitz, they said for here we go
- 1:12:43Speaker 19: to set off to throw lookie lookie fars the jeep downfield.
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: That pole is going to be not the way, not the.
- 1:12:50Speaker 9: Way, look the way to jack winning.
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: It over time with another torific defensive play. All these
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: cardiac cats they win it again. I you win on
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: the roads for the jackson Bill Jaguar.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: They're back to being fun. Then it certainly was messy
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: twenty seven to twenty four in just like a connoisseur's delight.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: To me, this was a delightful game. I can't wait
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: to watch it a little closer. Frank Frangie on wj
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: XL watched it extremely close, and yes, the Jaguars defense
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: bails out Liam Cohen and Trevor Lawrence who had four
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: turnovers on the day, and they escaped the desert with
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: a victory to get them to seven and four. But Patrick,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: I do want to hear about the decision making process
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: late in the game and what you thought of Liam
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: Cohen and his fourth and one call.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Liam Cohen and the Jacksonville Jaguars late in the fourth
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: quarter have an opportunity fourth and one to kick a
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: field goal and go up six late and the models,
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: both models, both widely distributed models, had a slim margin,
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: but still a margin in favor of going for it.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: Liam Cohen ultimately decides to have Trevor Lawrence throw the
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: ball to Tim Patrick and it's incomplete with a minute
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: and forty three seconds to go, so instead of a
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: six point lead with a minute forty it is now
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: a three point lead, and Jacoby Brissett promptly goes down
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: the field. They get Chad Ryland on a kick and
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: the game goes to overtime.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: I got to throw at the end zone. I loved
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: that little game management. By the way, Jacoby Presett does
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: not spike the ball with about fifteen seconds left. Instead,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: he runs the call there. I thought that was a
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: veteran move and tries to get the defense not really
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: ready for it. He gets a one on one on
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: the side. It doesn't work out, but yeah, it was.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: It was a little next level. I think you got
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: to look at the game in front of you, and
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: I think that was what's frustrating you, because for the
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: most part, the Jaguars defense was playing pretty well in
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: this game, and all they had to do is stop
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: the Cardinals from scoring a touchdown with no timeouts.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: And we've seen the impact that having more of their guys.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: Of course, they're missing incredible amounts of pieces, including the
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: guy they traded up for in the top ten of
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: the NFL draft.
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: We hope to get back.
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: But Devin Lloyd back in this game, who actually knocked
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Jacoby Brissett out of the game briefly, but because he's
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: Jacoby Brissett and has his jersey in Canton, Ohio, he
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: summons the will to come back into the game and
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: be very successful.
- 1:15:35Speaker 5: I have QB hits for Devin Lloyd.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: He's all over the place, does everything for this defense
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: where I would understand trusting the defense where Josh heinz
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: Allen is having a solid game getting pressure, the Cardinals
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: dealing with injuries of their own on offense, and the
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: Jacks have been getting off the field. And it's one
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: of those very frustrating games on the Jags offense where
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: you get both good Trevor and bad Trevor trading places
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: during the game. There was one interception in the red zone.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: I understand Kalais Campbell's been playing football for two hundred
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: and fifty years. He jumps up, tips the ball, it
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: gets picked off. Those types of things happen. Yes, the
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: other two Trevor Lawrence interceptions were downright nasty and kept
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: the Cardinals in the game where it's a weird dichotomy
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: because they had a whole lot of success running the
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: ball early, including with Trevor Lawrence, and late in the
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: game you get that interception. They come back, Trevor and
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Jacoby Myers hook up on back to back plays and
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: get a touchdown, and it's like, yay, Jack's passing game.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: Next possession is a turnover where you're just not sure
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: how this passing game is going to operate.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: I don't know what to think of this Jaguars team.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: They had a design run success rate today of twenty percent.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: Their running game was awful, So everyone's so mad at
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: the play call on fourth and one, rolling Trevor Lawrence out.
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: They did call a running play on third and one
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: in Baseil Twoton, who I think is the better short
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: yardage back, gets stuffed. So their offensive line is just struggling.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: But that's why you just kick the field goal there.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: I think because of this situation, Trevor Lawrence has not
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: shown you that he can be trusted. He doesn't even
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: have an open receiver there. I mean to watch that
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: must have felt so helpless for a Jaguars team. And
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: then you watch Jacoby Brissett do what Jacoby Brissett does
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: and overcome the Zebras who gave them a terrible spot
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: which cost them about forty seconds on the final drive
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: because they didn't mark it as a first down and
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: then they had to go for a fourth down and
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: instead of being able to spike the ball, it was
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: a whole thing.
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: And then you know, he gets down and at least
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: has a chance to go win the game.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: But when I watched this ending sequence two shook, I thought, like,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: Jonathan Gannon is a defense first coach, and I know
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: they forced some turnovers today, but they never get.
- 1:17:48Speaker 5: The stop that they need.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: It sucks because they keep losing close games but they
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: never get the stop that they need.
- 1:17:53Speaker 8: It's the story of their season, the fourth quarter woes,
- 1:17:55Speaker 8: and today was the fourth quarter in overtime woes. It
- 1:17:58Speaker 8: was a really fun game because it was very bad
- 1:18:00Speaker 8: and forth in the final quarter. But that's not what
- 1:18:02Speaker 8: you expect from your team when you have a defensive
- 1:18:04Speaker 8: minded coach like Jonathan Yahn. That's not what I expect.
- 1:18:06Speaker 8: When I look at the Cardinals week by week and
- 1:18:08Speaker 8: make my picks, I go, well, you know what, at
- 1:18:09Speaker 8: least I trust their defense, and now it's Jacoby Brissett,
- 1:18:11Speaker 8: so I trust him to give maximum effort and maybe
- 1:18:13Speaker 8: throw them into situations in which they could potentially win.
- 1:18:16Speaker 9: But then it's the fourth quarter problem.
- 1:18:18Speaker 8: It's you can't trust them in the final period, which
- 1:18:21Speaker 8: is what happened for them today. Although it was really
- 1:18:23Speaker 8: nice to see Greg dors get loose and move them
- 1:18:26Speaker 8: into field goal range. I thought I was kind of
- 1:18:28Speaker 8: hoping they would spike it or something, just to give
- 1:18:30Speaker 8: himself maybe one core shot the end zone before kicking
- 1:18:33Speaker 8: the field goal.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: But it's fine, Okay, I see what you're saying. You
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: could have maybe gotten two throws there, and yet well.
- 1:18:38Speaker 9: Lined up with like sixteen seconds.
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: I was like, bike it, come on.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, I think I get what he was thinking,
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: though I think he saw like they're a little frazzled
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: trying to get set up.
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: But I hear what you're saying.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: And Patrick and I had a long conversation about Greg
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Dortsch in the newsroom, where I said Greg Dortsch is
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: a championship level fourth receiver. Like if you get dorts
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: as your fourth receiver, you build everything out backwards from there.
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: He can get you to the ship. So the Cardinals
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: at least.
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: They have that, they have that foundational piece of a
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: receiving group, which is Greg Dorson is the one.
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: And who knows, maybe the Cleveland Browns have a foundational quarterback. Okay,
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: I'm just little funny.
- 1:19:19Speaker 20: Win shot out Sampson in you never know it's possible, shouting,
- 1:19:23Speaker 20: geto the backfield here it's a three by one. Shador
- 1:19:26Speaker 20: on third down, throws at Sampson to the flat Sampson
- 1:19:29Speaker 20: thirty five, Sampson forty, Sampson first down.
- 1:19:32Speaker 5: He's on the raid of thirty five. Get to put.
- 1:19:34Speaker 6: Ray's gone, Dylan Sampson touchdown, and that is a LONGUS
- 1:19:41Speaker 6: play of the year.
- 1:19:43Speaker 9: For your Cleveland brown sixty six yards to the house.
- 1:19:48Speaker 11: Nill at Sampson's second receiving touchdown, and for Shador Sanders
- 1:19:52Speaker 11: the first passing touchdown of his young NFL career.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: Ooh, we haven't heard from andrews Ciciliano and too long
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: he Andrew Nathan Zigura also on the call for wk
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: RK Browns win easy twenty four to ten in Vegas. Yes,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Shadar Sanders the first rookie quarterback, or maybe it's debut
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: quarterback for the Browns to.
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: Win in the last eighteen attempts.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: Wow, it's a wild stack.
- 1:20:22Speaker 8: You know how old I was when they had a
- 1:20:24Speaker 8: quarterback win his debut?
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: Old?
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: How old?
- 1:20:27Speaker 8: I think?
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: It was?
- 1:20:27Speaker 12: Two?
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: Okay?
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: Uh No, Shouldar didn't have to do a ton of
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: the heavy lifting obviously on that play it's a lot
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: of yak. But he did have a beautiful throw early
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: in the game. Quin Shaw juggins with a couple rushing touchdowns,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: and more importantly, the defense just dominates the Raiders. What
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: did you see out of shadur Nick will start there?
- 1:20:48Speaker 8: Well, I anticipated a nasty game between two two and
- 1:20:50Speaker 8: eight teams, and we got a bit of a nasty game.
- 1:20:52Speaker 8: But what wasn't nasty was Shador. He looked better than
- 1:20:55Speaker 8: he did in relief last week. You could tell that
- 1:20:58Speaker 8: the week of preparation gave him confidence. He got the
- 1:21:01Speaker 8: ball out on time. He didn't hold onto it very
- 1:21:02Speaker 8: long except for maybe one or two plays, which is
- 1:21:04Speaker 8: very encouraging because that was his biggest weak point.
- 1:21:07Speaker 9: He showed off his arm.
- 1:21:08Speaker 8: The throw he has, it's like a fifty two yard
- 1:21:10Speaker 8: at Isaiah Bond That sets up a quinch on Judkins touchdown,
- 1:21:14Speaker 8: rolling right away from pressure, fires it on the run
- 1:21:17Speaker 8: over the dB perfectly puts it on Bond for the
- 1:21:20Speaker 8: big completion That was at that point their longest play
- 1:21:22Speaker 8: of the season before the Samson touchdown. So I thought
- 1:21:25Speaker 8: that he executed it in spots. It was uneven, It
- 1:21:27Speaker 8: was pretty inconsistent. The offense is still a mess, it's
- 1:21:30Speaker 8: still dysfunctional. They still are a low ceiling unit. But
- 1:21:33Speaker 8: ultimately he steadied them enough and did enough things. Made
- 1:21:37Speaker 8: one bad mistake on an interception that's very typical of
- 1:21:39Speaker 8: a rookie. So I say, decent, solid, good thing to
- 1:21:43Speaker 8: build on, not a nightmare, which is more than they
- 1:21:45Speaker 8: could say about most of their season.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and more than you can say about this Raider season.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: You don't want to go too crazy on a day.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Their drop back success rate the Browns was twenty three percent,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: Like they weren't consistently do it.
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: But he did have a thirty nine yarder to Judy.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: You mentioned that play to Bond, which which is almost
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: a replay of the chance he had to tie the
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: game late last week to Isaiah Bonnie. He missed it
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: last week, he hits it today. Miles Garrett is doing
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: unspeakable things on the football field. A couple more sacks today?
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Was it two forced fumbles? What is it like watching
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Miles Garrett right now as a Browns fan?
- 1:22:21Speaker 8: Well, it's interesting because you know Brown's fans in the
- 1:22:24Speaker 8: moment when they trade it out of two back to
- 1:22:27Speaker 8: five and took Mason Graham, a lot of them were
- 1:22:28Speaker 8: upset because they wanted Travis Hunter, they wanted the new toy.
- 1:22:31Speaker 8: But I think that they're all pretty happy with the
- 1:22:33Speaker 8: decision that they made now because Mason Graham, his arrival,
- 1:22:36Speaker 8: has brought this defensive line to a higher level, better
- 1:22:39Speaker 8: than they were when they had Zadaria Smith and Miles Garrett,
- 1:22:41Speaker 8: when they had Jadevian Clowney and Miles Garrett, because now
- 1:22:45Speaker 8: there's interior pressure that is consistent, and especially against an
- 1:22:48Speaker 8: offensive line that's really bad in the Raiders, I mean horrible,
- 1:22:51Speaker 8: worse than you would ever imagine bad. And then you
- 1:22:53Speaker 8: deploy Miles Garrett against that and it's like watching a
- 1:22:56Speaker 8: monster just feast, just do whatever he wants, just destroy
- 1:22:59Speaker 8: a left tackle, line up over the center and shoot
- 1:23:02Speaker 8: the a gap. Cause all kinds of problems for Gino
- 1:23:04Speaker 8: Smith make his day awful. Ten total sacks for the Browns.
- 1:23:08Speaker 8: Miles Garrett had three. He has eighteen eighteen with six
- 1:23:12Speaker 8: games to play, like he's gonna break the record.
- 1:23:15Speaker 5: He's a little bit don't risk.
- 1:23:18Speaker 9: I'm saying he never care. I don't care. I don't
- 1:23:20Speaker 9: care he's gonna break it.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: So Reggie White Ones had nineteen sacks through the first
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: eleven games of the season. That was in nineteen eighty seven.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: The previous record holder Mark Gastino had seventeen and a
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: half sacks. And of course, yes, Garrett gets more games
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: to play with to try to break Michael straight Hands record.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: He also had four TFLs today, so he is on
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: an insane tackle for loss rate two and it was
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: three total sacks. I only saw the two forced fumbles,
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: but he had another one. And yeah, this season just
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: can't fast enough for the Raiders.
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: They're getting worse screct Ye.
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: They're the worst team in the NFL. They're worse than
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: the Titans.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: It's not even close where I was.
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: That was my thoughts because I know everybody was excited
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: about the opportunity to see should or play, see Miles
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: Garrett play against the worst offensive line that I have
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: ever seen.
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: I truly think.
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: I believe at this point in the NFL, I have
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: not seen an offensive line worse than this. And miles
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: average get off is still, you know, at twenty nine
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: years old, zero seven to one today, still getting off
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage faster than anybody. And you know,
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: this line is overmatched everywhere, but definitely overmatched with the
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: best defensive player that you know, since since JJ Watt
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: was doing things, since Aaron Donald was wrecking things, it's
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: not even close. Miles is shouldn't be on the same
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: field disease, guys.
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: That's absolutely fair. So the Browns three and eight, but
- 1:24:43Speaker 5: they are two and zero.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: In Kevin Stefanski hot seat matchups, he had that one
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: against May McDaniel where I thought, maybe the loser gets
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: fired and they blew out the Dolphins, but they didn't
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: fire McDaniel, and then beats Pete Carroll, who is not
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: having much fun in Vegas. Let's go to New Orleans
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: where no one who was rooting for the home team
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: was having any fun.
- 1:25:05Speaker 5: It's yours cousins, looking, He's gonna sil.
- 1:25:08Speaker 6: It for Mooney, Dunhill Mooney touchdown Atlanta.
- 1:25:12Speaker 12: Oh my goodness, there were two block Shirts back there
- 1:25:16Speaker 12: thought they had.
- 1:25:16Speaker 17: Good position and Cousins dropped it in a bucket to
- 1:25:21Speaker 17: Darnell Mooney.
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: Big time throw from Kirk Cousins.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: Oh, you can't came Kirk Cousins down for too long, Patrick,
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: No matter what you want to do, that's Wes Durham
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: on WZGC. The Falcons win twenty four to ten on
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: a day where, yes, their defense was the best unit
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: on the field. The Saints' offense only scores three points.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: They get their only touchdown on a pick six right
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: by Kirk Cousins. Wasn't there a pick six in this game?
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: Or am I crazy?
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: Yeah? No, Cousins.
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: Cousins threw a pick six, and thank you.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: They got the score and they had chances Greg, but
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: they elected to to not score him do anything.
- 1:25:58Speaker 5: That's true. They elected to kick a field goal late.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: But yeah, there was a fourth down that they went
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: for where Taysom Hill threw the ball instead of kicking
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: a field goal.
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: That didn't work.
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: Look, we pick a lot of games throughout the course
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: of the season, and we're going to be wrong so often.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: But for some reason, I feel like you picking the
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: Saints to win this game, Patrick, drove you more crazy
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: than any pick you made all season.
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: Yes, you were chugging hater aide as.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins was piloting a two play sequence where they
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: got eighty one yards off of a second and twenty four.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: That touchdown to Mooney was preceded by like a forty
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: yard screen to Beajon Robinson.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: Yeah, the screen came on second and twenty one because
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: Kirk the pressure got to the Saints get pressure on
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: Kirk Cousins, and it looked like typical twenty twenty five
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: Kirk Cousins where he wasn't sure what to do. The
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: pressure came, he threw the ball to absolutely nobody. The
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: Saints lobbying Brian Brecy arms out to the stripes where
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: the referees do that thing where they have the long discussion,
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: and then they dropped the flag out thinking the Saints
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: got a chance, they got a chance. They get off
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: the field here, they'll go back down and they're going
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: to score this time. No, it's a screen to Bajon
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: and then immediately Darnell Mooney and Kirk Cousins like dust off.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: It looks like prime Darnell Mooney and prime Kirk Cousins,
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: where it's like, what are you doing, Saints? What are
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: the Saints doing it?
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: I love I love Kirk was kind of like gearing
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: back to get everything into that throat, and uh, they
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: get a win, which you know for the season they had.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: Anyone is going to feel good four and seven for
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: the Saints. I mean for the Falcons and the Saints fans.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: After that touchdown, they all just left. If if if
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: you're I was watching that late in the game, and
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: like when they hit that touchdown to go up two touchdowns,
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: there's about ten minutes left, and it's not like you're
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: really trying to beat traffic in New Orleans, like you're
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: walking out of there or just the traffic's not that bad,
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: it's fine. Uh, but people are just like, no, I've
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: had enough of the New Orleans Saints and just a
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: sad performance. Tyler Shuck SHOOKI was the leading rusher on
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: the day where Alvin Kamara left the game pretty early
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: to injury. They had nothing going whatsoever on the ground.
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: Taysom went ten carries for seventeen yards.
- 1:28:08Speaker 9: Yeah, can we end this already?
- 1:28:10Speaker 8: I'm pretty sure we've graduated from the Taysom Hill experience
- 1:28:12Speaker 8: as a ball career.
- 1:28:13Speaker 9: I think we've proven that in previous weeks.
- 1:28:15Speaker 8: Whenever Tyler shuck, a guy who can improvise is your
- 1:28:18Speaker 8: leading rusher, but is not the leading rusher that you
- 1:28:21Speaker 8: want to run like the Titans want cam Ward to run.
- 1:28:24Speaker 9: You know you're in a bad place.
- 1:28:26Speaker 8: But when I look at this team defensively and I think, well,
- 1:28:29Speaker 8: how do you give up twenty four points to Kirk
- 1:28:31Speaker 8: Cousins and Darnell Mooney in the Atlanta Falcons and Bijon
- 1:28:34Speaker 8: Robinson helber player. But here's how Because I look at
- 1:28:37Speaker 8: this group of players and all I see is the
- 1:28:39Speaker 8: twenty ten, twenty eleven Cleveland Cavaliers, where it's Baron Davis
- 1:28:42Speaker 8: and Luke Harron Godi and Sean Livingston getting his last
- 1:28:46Speaker 8: shot at the NBA which ends up getting him a
- 1:28:48Speaker 8: spot with the Warriors. Like it's a bunch of no names,
- 1:28:50Speaker 8: this is a Saints team that is very clearly in
- 1:28:53Speaker 8: a transition period right now.
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: Shout up with Luke aret Gody.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: I just think I would ever hear about if you
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: had not said his name, I would have never thought
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: about Luke Aeron Gody. Ever, again, my issue with the
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: Taysom experience today is it was all the highest leverage
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: plays in the game. Yeah, it was fourth and one
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: in the red zone and a gold to go situation.
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: And then yeah, let's get shuck out of here. Let's
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: get Taysom to come in and throw a pass. He's
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: zero for two through the air in this game where
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: it's not sneaking up on anybody at this point. When
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: Taysom Hill comes in, it's not, oh no, what are
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: the Saints gonna do. It's the Taysom Hill package in
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: the same Taysom Hill package, now under three different coaching regimes,
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: where it's the same Taysom Hill package, and let's let's
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: get rid of it. I don't want to see Taysom
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: Hill package anymore.
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: No, I don't. It's I don't know.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: Kellen Moore has got that special connection. He's got that
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: he's got that loyalty to his brother, and he just
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: he just keeps giving it, giving him the ball man.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Kellen Moore just not inspiring in his first Saints season.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: Let's take one final break and we'll get to a
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: team that's been pretty inspiring all season. Yes, it's the
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: Los Angeles Rams. We're gonna say goodbye to Patrick Bye.
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: Everybody go say hello to the children.
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: I shall Stafford the pistol has to go up and
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: over his left shoulder to.
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: Catch the snap locks.
- 1:30:20Speaker 19: One zoe is a touchdown, Devontae Adams racing underneath another.
- 1:30:27Speaker 19: Matthew Stafford's got twenty four yards and you can let
- 1:30:31Speaker 19: those MVP chants bring in again. It's one, two, three
- 1:30:38Speaker 19: for Matthew Stafford and Debunte's gut too. Oh, it's back
- 1:30:44Speaker 19: to a three store lead. Matthew to the bonte.
- 1:30:48Speaker 5: They are sizzily, They are sizzly. You know who else is?
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: Sisley jav Long on KSPN.
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: I met grunting in the background. Our friend Maurice Jones
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: drew the Rams. Make it a laugher on Sunday night
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: football thirty or to seven, Yes, if it's a day
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: that ends, and why DeVante Adams is scoring a touchdown
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: often two And this thing not only was over at
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: halftime thirty one to seven.
- 1:31:16Speaker 5: At halftime, there was not much more to play. We
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: just got a field goal in the second half and
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: we were killing time.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: Took because Baker Mayfield was out with a left shoulder injury.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: More on that in a second, But this was a
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: night I don't think it would have mattered if Baker
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: was healthy or not. In fact, he was healthy until
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: they were down three touchdowns. Man, When the Rams offense
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: is looking good, and they've looked great in the first
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: quarter of these games for over a month now, it
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: just seems like no one can stop them.
- 1:31:48Speaker 8: Yeah, and then you add in a pick six of
- 1:31:50Speaker 8: fifty yards and it's like, oh, now, you just put
- 1:31:53Speaker 8: that on the board as well.
- 1:31:54Speaker 9: They do feel.
- 1:31:55Speaker 8: Unstoppable at times, especially you know, against opponents that struggle
- 1:31:59Speaker 8: to give them resistance. This is not the Seahawks game,
- 1:32:01Speaker 8: but it is. I mean, it's another example of how
- 1:32:04Speaker 8: good this offense can be. Like it honestly feels vindicating.
- 1:32:09Speaker 8: It feels like justice has been served to DeVante Adams
- 1:32:12Speaker 8: for the time that he spent in Vegas with the Raiders,
- 1:32:14Speaker 8: because now he is in the perfect He's in football
- 1:32:16Speaker 8: Heaven with Matthew Stafford. They're just making beautiful music art
- 1:32:21Speaker 8: every weekend and we all get to sit back and
- 1:32:24Speaker 8: watch it.
- 1:32:24Speaker 9: And sometimes it'sdn't blow out fashion like this.
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: And maybe the best catch he made all night was
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: actually called back by a penalty, a leaping grab he
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: made in the second half he did have one drop.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: I swear he said more drops with the Rams than
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: any other time in his career. But he keeps getting
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: it done, and the MVP conversation put it on the board.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: Patrick Claibahn, wherever you are tonight, is only going to
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: help with Stafford getting those three touchdowns in the first
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: half and that drive. That touchdown that we just heard shook.
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: It just shows you how they can do anything they
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: want to do with the Rams because the Bucks are
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: trailing twenty one nothing. You mentioned the pick six that's
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: on a play where kateat and essentially drops the ball
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: as he's going to his knees and Kobe Durant steals
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: it from him. Look like he might have been down,
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: but by the letter of the law, I guess he
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: got to do a football move and Durant returns it
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: the other way, and so it's it looks like a
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: blow out early, but the Bucks finally get a touchdown
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: on the drive where Mayfield actually hurt his left shoulder,
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: but they get it to twenty one to seven, and
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: then literally just four plays later, it's like a three
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: yard run and then it's Pooka up the seam for
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: like twenty four yards, it's Momfield for fourteen and then
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: a dime to DeVante Adams. So they can be explosive
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: or they can turn the running game. And their success
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: rate was through the roof, and I think that gets
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: lost a little bit that the run for me, for
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: the Rams sets up the pass. Obviously the past is
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: the most important thing, but they are in favorable situation
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: so often because of the run.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:33:57Speaker 9: Absolutely, And it all goes back to Kyen Willy and
- 1:34:00Speaker 9: the role that he plays in this offense. But it's
- 1:34:01Speaker 9: not just that.
- 1:34:02Speaker 8: It's the offensive line and how they've been very cohesive
- 1:34:05Speaker 8: this year, whether it's protecting Matthew Stafford or opening running lanes,
- 1:34:07Speaker 8: it's really allowing Sean mcvady get creative with how they
- 1:34:10Speaker 8: want to run the ball. And then beyond Kira Williams
- 1:34:12Speaker 8: in Blake Koram and we've enjoyed a little bit of
- 1:34:14Speaker 8: a difference in style. Where Korm's more of a north south,
- 1:34:17Speaker 8: less vision type of runner. Kyron obviously more dynamic, able
- 1:34:20Speaker 8: to you know, find lanes and run through them. And
- 1:34:23Speaker 8: I think it just fills out this offense. Like you
- 1:34:25Speaker 8: bring in Devonte Adams and you put him next to
- 1:34:27Speaker 8: Pooka Nakua. You have a very good one two receiver
- 1:34:29Speaker 8: tandem Kyram Williams and Blake korm solid one two running tandem.
- 1:34:33Speaker 8: And when it all marries together under Sean mcvay's vision,
- 1:34:37Speaker 8: this is what it looks like.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: Right in the difference this year, more than any year,
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: I feel like it's it's a difference making defense. So
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: the Rams get six quarterback hits, four sacks, seven tackles
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: for loss, and ten passes defense against Baker Mayfield and
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: Teddy Bridgewater, who you know was not Jameis Winston coming
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: off the bench in the second half. But Baker Mayfield
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: then the first half, goes nine for nineteen for forty
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: one yards. He has those two interceptions, one obviously not
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: his fault. But what shouldn't get lost is, you know,
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: on plays, you know, other than that interception, they were
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: still averaging about two and a half yards per pass
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: and against the pressure, I believe he was zero for
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: four when they blitzed him, he was like one for
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: five and took a sack. The pass rush was just awesome,
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: whether it was Verse or Kobe Turner. And then Baker
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: hurts it his shoulder and he didn't really show it
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: at first on a run and he follows it up
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: with a couple of nice passes.
- 1:35:39Speaker 5: But you see him win.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: See after they get a touchdown, and you remember, I
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: believe I guess I'll put you on the spot.
- 1:35:45Speaker 5: You remember how Baker's career ended in Cleveland, right.
- 1:35:48Speaker 9: Mm hmm, yeah, yeah, it was. It was the twenty
- 1:35:51Speaker 9: twenty one season.
- 1:35:51Speaker 8: It was after he letend of the playoffs and their
- 1:35:53Speaker 8: first playoff win since they'd returned in ninety nine. And
- 1:35:56Speaker 8: he was playing through multiple injuries that year, and the
- 1:35:58Speaker 8: first one was the left shoulder, which ended being a
- 1:36:00Speaker 8: torn laboram that didn't require surgery, but as somebody who's
- 1:36:03Speaker 8: torn both of his laborums and had surgery on one
- 1:36:05Speaker 8: of them, that surgery is not super successful anyway, and
- 1:36:08Speaker 8: it's not an injury that you can just like rehab away.
- 1:36:11Speaker 8: And he gets annoying and he gets painful and bothersome
- 1:36:13Speaker 8: even when you're not actively using it as you're throwing shoulder. Now,
- 1:36:16Speaker 8: we don't know what happened to him this time, but
- 1:36:18Speaker 8: he's got a history of having injuries with that shoulder,
- 1:36:21Speaker 8: and that's what contributed to his downfall with the Browns.
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: It was that it was a knee.
- 1:36:24Speaker 8: He struggled that year while playing through those injuries, and
- 1:36:27Speaker 8: it bumps me out for him because this team is
- 1:36:29Speaker 8: so banged up already. They're missing multiple receivers. Their offensive
- 1:36:33Speaker 8: line has been a shuffling act all year. They haven't
- 1:36:35Speaker 8: had Bucky Irving for a considerable stretch of time. Now,
- 1:36:38Speaker 8: and then your quarterback, the guy who has been basically
- 1:36:40Speaker 8: carrying you in most weeks and propelling your offense forward
- 1:36:44Speaker 8: through scenarios in which most quarterbacks wouldn't get you to
- 1:36:47Speaker 8: the other side. Now he's banged up. And you saw
- 1:36:50Speaker 8: what happened tonight. You take him out of the equation
- 1:36:51Speaker 8: when he's already banged up and they're just a non
- 1:36:54Speaker 8: competitive offense.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and look they were without Jabell Dean, their best
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: cornerback tonight. Bucky Irvy and who you mentioned, Hassan Reddick
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: was out, and you know, the Rams start a new
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: right tackle, Warren McLendon. They put Rob Havenstein on injured reserve.
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: You didn't notice any difference. That's one area where like
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: Hassan Reddick could possibly help. You're missing your two starting
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: guards from week one. I kind of forgot during the
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: week when I said they're only missing one guard, I
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: forget Cody Mock's already out for the season. So yeah,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: just a lot of issues and they're falling to six
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: and five, and we're right back to where we tend
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: to be, which is the NFC South winner is probably
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: going to be the four seed. And yes, the Bucks
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: schedule gets much easier the rest of the way, but
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: they're out of point, especially if Baker's not one hundred percent,
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: where no win is going to be assured. Meanwhile, the
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: Rams are the one seed and in a week where
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: they put Hanstein, Quinton Lake, and Tyler Higbee on injured reserve, look,
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: they look so deep there.
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: Tight ends were so important in this game.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: You know, you get Kolbe Parkinson for a touchdown, Davis
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: Allen gets Loose for three catches, and this is just
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: a really complete team. And to me, for the Rams,
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: it's all gonna be about weeks fifteen and sixteen. In
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: a five day period, they will play the Lions and
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: then they'll play the Seahawks on a Thursday night, and
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: that's gonna to me really decide whether they are the
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: one seed or who knows Seattle might be able to
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: run this table too, and it could all come down
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: to that Week sixteen game that's in the future. This
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: team is maybe the best Sean McVay team we have
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: seen yet, to the point where him and Stafford are
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: getting into it and mcvay's getting mad at like thirty
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: one to seven. Did you see that, where like Stafford
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: missed a couple throws and they're like yelling at each.
- 1:38:37Speaker 8: Other, at which point that Matt Matthew Stafford probably shouldn't
- 1:38:40Speaker 8: even be in the game, Like, just take them out,
- 1:38:42Speaker 8: because the biggest key for me is once they get
- 1:38:44Speaker 8: to that week fifteen sixteen point, how healthy can you
- 1:38:46Speaker 8: be when you get there? That's what's most important, all right,
- 1:38:49Speaker 8: So they're nine and two before we leave for the day.
- 1:38:53Speaker 8: We did have some breaking news as we were watching
- 1:38:57Speaker 8: this game. Chip Kelly is out as the Las Vegas
- 1:39:02Speaker 8: Raiders offensive coordinator. So Patrick Claybon has been just killing
- 1:39:07Speaker 8: Chip Kelly week after week all season long.
- 1:39:10Speaker 5: I feel like he was first.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: Maybe Pete Carroll was first, but Patrick Claybon was second,
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: and it felt weird that he is not on the
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: show for this.
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: So we're gonna do an NFL Daily first. Jock We're
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: gonna call Claybon.
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: Right now, just on my phone. I mean, he's not
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: gonna pop up. I never call him on the phone,
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: so he might not answer. We'll see if this works.
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: Maybe we'll even edit it out. I got to put
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: this thing on speaker and we'll see how this goes.
- 1:39:37Speaker 9: Is this the first time you've called somebody while you're
- 1:39:39Speaker 9: not driving?
- 1:39:40Speaker 5: Patrick? This is Greg.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: You are on NFL Daily right now? Are you free
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: to talk? You are on NFL Daily? Are you aware
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: that the Raiders have been watching the show and that
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: they have fired Chip Kelly?
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: Tonight?
- 1:39:55Speaker 21: You know what, Greg, I appreciate not just Tom Brady's
- 1:39:58Speaker 21: commitment to being an NFL list an NFL Daily note listener,
- 1:40:03Speaker 21: but Pete Carroll clearly the It had nothing to do
- 1:40:07Speaker 21: with the output, the ability UH to all to be watchable,
- 1:40:12Speaker 21: to be fun. This was purely reaction to our continued
- 1:40:17Speaker 21: conversation regarding Chip Kelly, which comes to a sad and
- 1:40:21Speaker 21: empty ending.
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: Tonight, You're you are such a pro I mean, you
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: had that answer ready. I'm fumbling around trying to put
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: it on speaker. You have this thing answered before I
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: even get there. What did you think I was possibly
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: calling you about right now.
- 1:40:34Speaker 7: Well, when you started a conversation with I am on
- 1:40:36Speaker 7: NFL Daily right now, my brain went to any number
- 1:40:40Speaker 7: of places where it's like.
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: Recording. We finished recording the show.
- 1:40:46Speaker 7: I'm watching Van Perino with my kids because you know,
- 1:40:49Speaker 7: another circumstance, it was concluded while we left the podcast studio,
- 1:40:56Speaker 7: and so yeah, this is this is big news, very
- 1:41:00Speaker 7: important news.
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: It's Markee news. Right now.
- 1:41:03Speaker 7: In November of twenty twenty five, Key is doing something
- 1:41:07Speaker 7: else for the remainder of the season, which congratulations to him,
- 1:41:10Speaker 7: because his previous thing was.
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: Not going well.
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: Yeah, honestly, it might not be the worst thing for him.
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: He's the highest paid offensive coordinator in the league. That
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: money is guaranteed, it goes on into future years. And
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: I now feel bad for interrupting your family time. Thank
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: you Patrick for chipping in as always, no thank you.
- 1:41:26Speaker 7: Greg, and thanks to Chip Kelly for truly providing us
- 1:41:29Speaker 7: with something unique in twenty twenty five.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: It was great.
- 1:41:33Speaker 5: Thanks see you man.
- 1:41:35Speaker 8: Unique in the form of ten Zacks giving up to
- 1:41:37Speaker 8: the Browns today the first time in my memory that
- 1:41:39Speaker 8: I can see the Browns fire and getting someone fired
- 1:41:42Speaker 8: on the same day the.
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: Raiders just keep cycling through head coaches so quickly, and
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: you got to think Pete Carroll, you know, is maybe
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: on the way out too. He had not fired a coordinator,
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: took in fourteen seasons during the season when he was
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: with Seattle.
- 1:42:02Speaker 8: Now that he's fired two, he's fired too. To Patrick Graham,
- 1:42:07Speaker 8: keep an eye over your shoulder.
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: Patrick Graham's doing the best that he can.
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: All right, fun Sunday, I think we really crystallize what's
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: going on here in both conferences. It's really coming down
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: in both conferences. If you look at it to ten
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: teams for seven spots, and it's fascinating that the three
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: teams out right now in the AFC are Pittsburgh, Houston,
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: and Kansas City all at six and five, while you
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: know the Chargers, Jags, and Bills have the last three
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: spots at seven and four. We talked about the AFC
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: North before and then I think the same is basically
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: the case in the NFC. Ten teams for seven spots.
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: I'm including the Cowboys in that mix at five to
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: five and one, and we kind of have the Panthers
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: and the Bucks playing the roles of raven Steelers in
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: the NFC where just one team is getting that spot
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: and it's probably gotta be the four seed.
- 1:43:01Speaker 8: It's all shaping up, shooky, it's all gonna change. It's
- 1:43:04Speaker 8: gonna change. I'm telling you, we're gonna get a lot
- 1:43:06Speaker 8: of movement in these.
- 1:43:07Speaker 9: Next six weeks.
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: Okay, looking forward to it. Let's get out of here
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: because we got another show to do soon enough. Monday
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: Night Football, as we do each and every week, my
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: parents are arriving on a plane during Monday Night Football,
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: was like, can we go live after Panthers forty nine
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: ers when the parents are a right, some things.
- 1:43:29Speaker 5: Are more important than family.
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: Panthers forty nine ers live on YouTube me and shook
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: see you then,
