- 0:05Speaker 1: Sean Armstrong joining us right now on f T. Sean,
- 0:07Speaker 1: thanks for joining us. How you doing, Yeah, man, how
- 0:10Speaker 1: are you guys? We're good, We're good. I mean, just
- 0:13Speaker 1: to get into the combo favorite home run celebration slash
- 0:17Speaker 1: skit either from a teammate or just in general in
- 0:19Speaker 1: Major League Baseball for you right now.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I mean, i'd have to say probably Garcia for me,
- 0:26Speaker 2: whenever he hits a walk off or a big homer
- 0:28Speaker 2: for us.
- 0:28Speaker 3: I love the energy that he kind of brings. But
- 0:31Speaker 3: you know, we.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Actually had this conversation other in the clubhouse and it's like,
- 0:35Speaker 2: you know, kind of targeted more towards the freem endeavors
- 0:38Speaker 2: thing where you know, got mad.
- 0:40Speaker 3: It's like it's one of those things.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Man, it's like if you're gonna give it up and
- 0:45Speaker 2: you know it's gonna be, you know, an absolute bomb,
- 0:48Speaker 2: like I'm all for it, like Pemph the homer. I
- 0:50Speaker 2: think I think it brings more attention to the game,
- 0:52Speaker 2: and you know, like the younger generation, like.
- 0:54Speaker 3: It's all about the energy.
- 0:55Speaker 2: So like, you know, regardless, it's just part of baseball,
- 0:58Speaker 2: and I think it brings a lot of positivity for
- 1:01Speaker 2: the younger guys.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Should pictures have a skit though, I mean, like only closers,
- 1:06Speaker 4: which will get into the fact that you're a big
- 1:07Speaker 4: time closer. Now we're not in Columbus anymore, but like
- 1:11Speaker 4: you're you're like, should pictures have a skit? Like if
- 1:15Speaker 4: a picture comes off the mound and gives more than
- 1:17Speaker 4: just like the.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I mean, I think it's one of those things where
- 1:22Speaker 2: you kind of gotta be yourself. I'm not I'm not
- 1:24Speaker 2: a big urah guy when it comes to the mound,
- 1:27Speaker 2: but uh, I mean, if that's your thing, sure, go
- 1:30Speaker 2: for it. I mean, if you go out there and
- 1:32Speaker 2: kay the side and you know, like that that's part
- 1:34Speaker 2: of your you know, celebration.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Sure.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I mean we got a guy, you know, like Crvello
- 1:39Speaker 2: on us. I mean he celebrates after every strikeout. I
- 1:42Speaker 2: mean that's just who he is. But I mean I
- 1:43Speaker 2: think again, he's out there having fun, He's trying to
- 1:45Speaker 2: do his job. And you know, again, if if that's
- 1:48Speaker 2: part of you, like, I mean, I'm off for it.
- 1:50Speaker 2: You know, it's again it makes the game fun and
- 1:53Speaker 2: brings energy. I'm just I'm just not sure who are
- 1:55Speaker 2: a type of guy when it comes to you know,
- 1:58Speaker 2: coming off the mount.
- 2:00Speaker 4: All right, Well, pictures sometimes they don't always get to
- 2:02Speaker 4: celebrate at the end of their outing. But now that
- 2:05Speaker 4: you're kind of sliding into that closer's role and don't humble,
- 2:09Speaker 4: I don't know, like you're you're the guy right now
- 2:12Speaker 4: coming out of the pen to close the game out,
- 2:15Speaker 4: do you need to have your walkout music because that's
- 2:18Speaker 4: kind of the pictures celebration right now, like they celebrate
- 2:21Speaker 4: before they're even before they even get the three outs.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I mean, I like the walk up music whenever for
- 2:29Speaker 2: like the answery obviously, I think it kind of sets
- 2:31Speaker 2: the mood, sets the vibe, I mean, just like a hitter.
- 2:34Speaker 2: But I mean I think I don't know about the
- 2:36Speaker 2: whole playing you know, the walkout after every strikeout or
- 2:39Speaker 2: out that's.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Made in an inning.
- 2:41Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean i'd be I'd be lying if
- 2:44Speaker 2: I said that I'm a little OCD if they didn't
- 2:45Speaker 2: play my walkout whenever I'm running out onto the mound,
- 2:48Speaker 2: that it might you know, kill the vibes a little bit.
- 2:50Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean, big walk up component for pictures
- 2:53Speaker 3: and hitters.
- 2:54Speaker 4: All right, So I got to get into your kind
- 2:57Speaker 4: of mindset being a big league closer now, even though
- 3:00Speaker 4: it's really short, you haven't been a big league closer
- 3:02Speaker 4: long because you and I played together in twenty seventeen
- 3:07Speaker 4: in Columbus and you were still coming up, You were
- 3:10Speaker 4: still kind of getting your feet wet. You had a
- 3:11Speaker 4: little bit of time in the big leagues with the
- 3:14Speaker 4: of the Indians at the time Guardians now, and you
- 3:18Speaker 4: had a temper. I'll tell a story after you tell
- 3:22Speaker 4: the story, after you tell me where your tempers at
- 3:25Speaker 4: right now, because I think it's something that everybody needs
- 3:30Speaker 4: to kind of like live on that borderline. Compared to
- 3:33Speaker 4: twenty seventeen, where's your temper at now?
- 3:38Speaker 2: I think it's turned down quite a bit since then.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I mean, you played with me. I was a little
- 3:43Speaker 2: bit of a basket case whenever I was coming up
- 3:45Speaker 2: in the minor leagues. And I tell guys that all
- 3:47Speaker 2: the time, and you know, I think I'd be lying
- 3:49Speaker 2: if I said that. You know, my wife and my
- 3:52Speaker 2: kids were kind of the biggest component of kind of
- 3:54Speaker 2: bringing that back down to earth. And then you know,
- 3:57Speaker 2: also training, you know, a bunch of kids outside of
- 3:59Speaker 2: baseball on off the field, you know, like they watch,
- 4:03Speaker 2: you know, kind of what I'm doing every day, and
- 4:04Speaker 2: I think it's kind of those things were practice what
- 4:06Speaker 2: you preach. But uh, controlling the motions is part of
- 4:10Speaker 2: you know, failure is part of the game. And I
- 4:12Speaker 2: I mean, Kratzy you played with me. I struggled with
- 4:15Speaker 2: it pretty bad early on in my career.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Would you mind if you tell the story about the
- 4:20Speaker 4: one time Do you remember the one time where I
- 4:22Speaker 4: almost choked you out because of your temper?
- 4:27Speaker 2: Depends on which one it was, it depends. Was that
- 4:29Speaker 2: in Toledo or is that somewhere else?
- 4:31Speaker 4: No, it was in Columbus. So in Columbus we had
- 4:34Speaker 4: two We had two batting cages, and sometimes Sean would
- 4:38Speaker 4: get he would give up a hit, and he would
- 4:41Speaker 4: have the same reaction if he gave up three runs.
- 4:43Speaker 4: But he came into the batting cage, and there was
- 4:46Speaker 4: two of them long way, so it was you know,
- 4:49Speaker 4: once you were in one of them, you were safe
- 4:51Speaker 4: to be in the other one. You know, he was
- 4:53Speaker 4: throwing stuff around in the batting cage and he found
- 4:56Speaker 4: a broken bat from one batting cage. He threw it
- 5:01Speaker 4: and somehow it went through the opening and made it
- 5:05Speaker 4: into the other opening, almost an impossible shot, like dude,
- 5:08Speaker 4: perfect type of shot, and the bat hit me. I
- 5:12Speaker 4: was stretching in the other cage and I was sitting
- 5:14Speaker 4: on the ground and it hit me, and he and
- 5:17Speaker 4: shone through it, and he went from like one hundred
- 5:21Speaker 4: miles an hour mad to I am so sorry, like
- 5:27Speaker 4: I am so He's like, you were, you were so apologetic.
- 5:31Speaker 4: And then you came back to me after the game.
- 5:33Speaker 4: He said, I thought you were going to punch me
- 5:35Speaker 4: in the face when you did that. So I saw,
- 5:38Speaker 4: I saw a moment of maturity. And now look at you,
- 5:40Speaker 4: you're just so calm and collected.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Now, yeah, it was. It was a little bit of
- 5:45Speaker 3: a problem back then.
- 5:48Speaker 2: And I mean obviously, you know, I say it all
- 5:50Speaker 2: the time, especially like whenever you're in Bigley camp with
- 5:52Speaker 2: this that year, it's like you came in the clubhouse.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And I think that also speaks to, you know, testament
- 5:56Speaker 2: to you throughout your career too, is every clubhouse you
- 5:58Speaker 2: ever ran, it was like you were there for you know,
- 6:01Speaker 2: ten years, And you know, I think that's a testament,
- 6:04Speaker 2: you know, obviously to my maturity. But at the same time,
- 6:07Speaker 2: like having guys like you, you know, kind of groom
- 6:10Speaker 2: us in that way.
- 6:10Speaker 3: As we were coming up too. Helped a lot.
- 6:12Speaker 2: But yeah, I saw red and then I saw an
- 6:15Speaker 2: oh crap moment that this guy's huge and he might
- 6:19Speaker 2: actually kick my ass in this cave. So yeah, thankfully
- 6:22Speaker 2: we didn't in that way and we worked it out.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Yeah, we worked it out. We're still buddies. But do
- 6:28Speaker 4: the Rangers got a shot? Man? Do you guys have
- 6:31Speaker 4: a shot? Because of where you're at? Everybody like on
- 6:35Speaker 4: shows like this, and you know, AJ and I played,
- 6:38Speaker 4: so we're you know, we're giving it honest, like in
- 6:41Speaker 4: these moments, we know you're looking to the scoreboard, But
- 6:44Speaker 4: do you guys have a Do you guys in the
- 6:45Speaker 4: clubhouse say, well, if we make the playoffs or are
- 6:49Speaker 4: you guys saying when we make the playoffs, like, don't
- 6:52Speaker 4: make plans for October yet.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I mean, I think we can all like, I think
- 6:56Speaker 3: we all feel it, you know.
- 6:57Speaker 2: I mean, obviously this we've had a lot of peaks
- 7:00Speaker 2: and valleys over the course of the season that hasn't
- 7:02Speaker 2: gone our way, and we've lost some close games that
- 7:04Speaker 2: you know, obviously we'd be sitting in a different situation
- 7:07Speaker 2: if we would have won those games. But I mean
- 7:09Speaker 2: the vibes in the clubhouse right now, are you know,
- 7:11Speaker 2: they're really good. We have i mean seekers coming back,
- 7:15Speaker 2: you know, and then obviously we've had some daggers with
- 7:17Speaker 2: some players that we've lost. But I think that you know,
- 7:20Speaker 2: every young guy that's kind of came up and had
- 7:23Speaker 2: an opportunity is taken advantage. And i'd be lying to you, man,
- 7:26Speaker 2: I think the energy over the past three or four
- 7:28Speaker 2: weeks here has been probably better than it's been, you know,
- 7:31Speaker 2: throughout the main part of the season.
- 7:32Speaker 3: And I think every one of us believe in it, and.
- 7:35Speaker 2: We've all said it, like just get in, and we
- 7:37Speaker 2: got a really good opportunity to do some damage in
- 7:39Speaker 2: the playoffs. So like, I think every single person in
- 7:42Speaker 2: that clubhouse believes that we can get in. You know,
- 7:44Speaker 2: obviously we got to have some other things go our way.
- 7:46Speaker 2: There's you know, Seattle's kind of riding a roller coaster
- 7:50Speaker 2: right now as well. And yeah, I mean we are
- 7:52Speaker 2: scoreboard watching, but the only thing we can do is
- 7:54Speaker 2: take control of what we can control and control one
- 7:57Speaker 2: out at the time, one game at a time, and
- 7:58Speaker 2: try and win each game we got. We got a
- 8:00Speaker 2: heck of a schedule moving forward. We realize that, but
- 8:04Speaker 2: I think at the same time, it prepares us for
- 8:06Speaker 2: playoff baseball to be going against you know, number one
- 8:09Speaker 2: teams in the division throughout the remainder of the season,
- 8:11Speaker 2: I think besides two teams, and you know, they're all
- 8:14Speaker 2: playing for something too. But yeah, we believe in ourselves, man,
- 8:18Speaker 2: and like hell yeah, like we want to get into October.
- 8:20Speaker 2: We want to make a run at it, and you know,
- 8:23Speaker 2: like which we trust everybody in that clubhouse. And again
- 8:25Speaker 2: there's been some times that haven't gone the way we wanted,
- 8:28Speaker 2: but we're playing really good baseball collectively right now.
- 8:32Speaker 1: We are longtime fans of Omaha Steaks and I am

- 9:30Speaker 1: See site for details. Dig In Sean, you guys have
- 9:34Speaker 1: lost teammates at least temporarily, like Uvaldi Sieger. Send me
- 9:40Speaker 1: in some big names, right. Is it true that they're
- 9:43Speaker 1: calling some of those replacements the little rascals? Is that
- 9:47Speaker 1: a thing more on the TV broadcast or is that
- 9:49Speaker 1: permeating inside the clubhouse?
- 9:52Speaker 3: Honestly, man, that's a first for me. I haven't heard that.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Maybe that's more of a TV thing, But I'm gonna
- 9:57Speaker 2: definitely have to ask about that whenever I get there.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Today.
- 10:00Speaker 2: And I mean, but I mean the guys they brought
- 10:02Speaker 2: up man like it, like Freeman, Seeing that kid have fun,
- 10:05Speaker 2: you know, day in and day out, no matter where
- 10:06Speaker 2: he's playing, it's it's a joy to see man like
- 10:09Speaker 2: it fires us up whenever he crosses on play, tie
- 10:11Speaker 2: and run, whatever it may be, and you know.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Jumps in through the roof like he's he's a ball
- 10:15Speaker 3: of energy.
- 10:16Speaker 2: But you know a lot of the guys that we've
- 10:18Speaker 2: you know, brought up right now, like Dyling More stepping
- 10:20Speaker 2: up for Seeger, who's you know, like dealing with that
- 10:23Speaker 2: type of situation.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Hellman, who's been huge for us coming down the stretch.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I mean, you know, it's kind of throw and through
- 10:30Speaker 2: the guys that have stepped up, and you know, there's
- 10:32Speaker 2: a lot of energy, but the little rascals haven't heard it.
- 10:34Speaker 3: So I'm gonna have to ask about that when I get.
- 10:36Speaker 7: There, all right.
- 10:37Speaker 1: So our teammate Ken Rosenthalo, of course writes for The
- 10:40Speaker 1: Athletic as well, put this in his article from this morning.
- 10:43Speaker 1: David Murphy, former Outbuilder now Rangers TV analyst dubbed them
- 10:48Speaker 1: the little rascals. Cody Freeman, Alejandro Zuna, Michael Hellman and
- 10:52Speaker 1: Dustin Harris.
- 10:52Speaker 7: So there you go.
- 10:53Speaker 3: The more you know, perfect, I like it.
- 10:57Speaker 4: That's why you come on here. You find stuff out.
- 10:59Speaker 4: You don't watch, you don't watch your own games. You
- 11:00Speaker 4: just sit in the pen getting ready to throw. Well,
- 11:03Speaker 4: why do you think that energy is a thing? I mean,
- 11:05Speaker 4: you guys have some dudes that have some serious resumes,
- 11:09Speaker 4: some nice backs of the baseball card. Do you feel
- 11:12Speaker 4: like sometimes too many veterans or too many like solidified
- 11:17Speaker 4: guys kind of become a little malaised during the season,
- 11:21Speaker 4: not that they're not playing hard, but just that energy
- 11:24Speaker 4: that you're talking about of a guy who's like, I'm
- 11:26Speaker 4: in the big leagues, Like, here we go, let's get it.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I think the difference Man and upset it is like
- 11:33Speaker 2: it's not like a we're not a hoorrah team, you know,
- 11:37Speaker 2: like and as far as that goes, and you know,
- 11:39Speaker 2: obviously we have guys that are at times like you know,
- 11:42Speaker 2: Garcia's homers and stuff like that in big time situations.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I mean, it fires us up.
- 11:46Speaker 2: But I think that it's more of the standard that
- 11:50Speaker 2: the front office is set for us, and that's the
- 11:52Speaker 2: expectation to win. And I think that with the resume
- 11:55Speaker 2: that our guys do have, and coming off you know,
- 11:57Speaker 2: the twenty twenty three World Series and then last year
- 12:00Speaker 2: being the season they wanted after winning a World Series.
- 12:03Speaker 2: I think it's just more of like the expectation of
- 12:05Speaker 2: the standard here is to win baseball games, and we.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Never get too high, we never get too low.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And it's like whenever we were going through it, you know,
- 12:12Speaker 2: a stretch we were losing games, like nobody's sitting around
- 12:16Speaker 2: complaining and you know, like or whatever it may be
- 12:19Speaker 2: about playing time or being optioned or whatever, it's like
- 12:22Speaker 2: you still come to the field one day at a time,
- 12:25Speaker 2: you know, take care of your business, to your routine,
- 12:27Speaker 2: and have the expectation to win ball games. And you know,
- 12:30Speaker 2: like you know, de grim Vivaldi, those guys they're not
- 12:33Speaker 2: they're not big hoorai guys either. The expectation and whenever
- 12:36Speaker 2: they get the balls to get a w and whenever
- 12:39Speaker 2: things on the go o their way, they're right back
- 12:40Speaker 2: in the pen, you know, the next day, talking to
- 12:43Speaker 2: whether it's delivery, scouting reports, tipping pitches, whatever it may be,
- 12:47Speaker 2: trying to find the next advantage to win the.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Next baseball game.
- 12:51Speaker 2: And again I don't spend a lot of time with
- 12:52Speaker 2: the hitters obviously, but it seems like they're all and
- 12:55Speaker 2: they're kind of doing the same thing, their same routine.
- 12:58Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean, I don't I wouldn't say that
- 13:00Speaker 2: it's like, you know, anything like that. I just think
- 13:03Speaker 2: that it's just an expectation and that's a standard, and
- 13:05Speaker 2: that's something that you know whenever I signed see why
- 13:08Speaker 2: express you know, from the first conversation on is we're
- 13:12Speaker 2: here to win a World Series.
- 13:13Speaker 3: We're here to win baseball games. That's our expectation.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Is no like if we make the playoffs, if we
- 13:18Speaker 2: get there, it's like our we're here to win, and
- 13:22Speaker 2: you know, like that's the one common.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Goal, you know.
- 13:24Speaker 2: And obviously it's a long season and we put ourselves
- 13:27Speaker 2: in a good spot going down this last stretch, and
- 13:30Speaker 2: we just got to control what we can control.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Army, Can you tell me as we get in a
- 13:35Speaker 4: little bit of your journey to becoming the closure of
- 13:38Speaker 4: the Rangers, can you tell me every number you've ever
- 13:41Speaker 4: had in the big leagues?
- 13:45Speaker 2: Uh, probably fifty one with Cleveland, thirty seven with Seattle,
- 13:52Speaker 2: forty three with Baltimore, sixty four with Tampa. I think
- 14:00Speaker 2: I was forty three with Tampa two, maybe forty six,
- 14:07Speaker 2: forty six. I do not know my number in Miami,
- 14:12Speaker 2: and then my number here is forty three in Texas,
- 14:15Speaker 2: and then I do not know my numbers in Saint
- 14:20Speaker 2: Louis or Chicago.
- 14:21Speaker 3: To be honest with you, forty three good core.
- 14:25Speaker 4: That's pretty good. Forty three, sixty four and thirty, but
- 14:28Speaker 4: that's pretty good. All of those stops, all of those
- 14:31Speaker 4: stops to get you to the point where you are
- 14:33Speaker 4: right now and a team that's on the brink of
- 14:36Speaker 4: doing something awesome in the playoffs. What part of that
- 14:40Speaker 4: journey do you feel like was like essential to be
- 14:45Speaker 4: able to get you to where you are right now
- 14:47Speaker 4: to have success, Because if people look at your career numbers,
- 14:50Speaker 4: they're gonna be like, dang, how'd this guy bounce around
- 14:52Speaker 4: a lot? It's the life of a I don't even
- 14:55Speaker 4: know what I'd call you, Like a middle not a
- 14:58Speaker 4: middle reliever because you throw a way too hard to
- 15:00Speaker 4: be a middle reliever and have too much anger, but
- 15:03Speaker 4: just a just a non closer, a non closing reliever
- 15:07Speaker 4: to bounce around like you had. With the career numbers
- 15:09Speaker 4: that you have, which of those stops. Do you feel
- 15:12Speaker 4: like was essential to put you in the place where
- 15:15Speaker 4: you're at right now?
- 15:18Speaker 2: You know, I mean I'd be lying if I said that,
- 15:19Speaker 2: you know, all of them weren't essential. I mean, they're
- 15:21Speaker 2: all a piece to the puzzle, you know, Cleveland being
- 15:25Speaker 2: able to have the bullpen and the starting rotation. They
- 15:28Speaker 2: kind of groomed me and set the standard of what
- 15:30Speaker 2: it's like to be a big leaguer and also what
- 15:33Speaker 2: it's like to be a veteran and a presence towards
- 15:35Speaker 2: younger guys.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I mean that was huge.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Uh, you know obviously when I was in Baltimore and
- 15:43Speaker 2: experiencing the struggles and the struggles as a team as
- 15:46Speaker 2: a whole like that, I mean, that's that's a learning curve.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Going to Tampa and learning the kind of like the
- 15:54Speaker 2: whole philosophy of analytics and motion capturing, kinetrax and you
- 15:59Speaker 2: know everything that Kyl Snyder and that group does like
- 16:02Speaker 2: kind of grooming me to really fully understand that type
- 16:05Speaker 2: of data. And then I mean, I think you can
- 16:08Speaker 2: buy in all of those they're all essential, But I
- 16:09Speaker 2: mean I think that the biggest thing for me was
- 16:12Speaker 2: probably Tampa and the culture that that front office built
- 16:17Speaker 2: through a clubhouse and the standard that that pitching staff
- 16:21Speaker 2: held for every single individual, and then Snyder's ability to
- 16:25Speaker 2: individualize every single pitcher that stepped in that clubhouse. So
- 16:30Speaker 2: like just like understanding that it's not a one size
- 16:34Speaker 2: fit all, that every single person is different, every single
- 16:37Speaker 2: person gets out differently, and you know, like just and again,
- 16:41Speaker 2: the culture.
- 16:41Speaker 3: The culture is a big thing, man. I mean, I
- 16:42Speaker 3: think we can all agree.
- 16:43Speaker 2: To that when it comes to baseball, Like if you
- 16:45Speaker 2: don't have culture, you don't have a vibe, you're not
- 16:47Speaker 2: gonna win a lot of baseball games. And that's that's
- 16:50Speaker 2: a big part of everything. But you know, career as
- 16:53Speaker 2: a whole man, I think that's kind of what has
- 16:56Speaker 2: really groomed me to their like never get too high
- 16:59Speaker 2: and never get too and you know, like I've said
- 17:01Speaker 2: it before, I got a toattooed on me, like never
- 17:04Speaker 2: fear failure. So a recording of God, God's plan, It's
- 17:06Speaker 2: gonna happen, like felare is a part of this game.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Learn from it, and anytime you get the baseball, treat
- 17:12Speaker 2: it like as your last.
- 17:14Speaker 7: I love that.
- 17:15Speaker 4: I love that. I felt like anytime you got the
- 17:17Speaker 4: baseball and I used to say, you and Trevor Bauer,
- 17:20Speaker 4: I'm sorry, Mike Clevenger used to play catch against each other.
- 17:23Speaker 4: You guys didn't play catch with each other. You played
- 17:26Speaker 4: against each other like you would be like fifty feet
- 17:28Speaker 4: away from each other and just throw as hard as
- 17:29Speaker 4: you could. So I like that. That's a good, good mantra.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Every time you got the ball. Your birthday's coming up.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Do you feel like your birthday, which is on September eleventh,
- 17:39Speaker 4: is overshadowed every year? Or do you feel like farther
- 17:42Speaker 4: and farther we get away from that terrible day in
- 17:46Speaker 4: our history, you get to celebrate it more. Because I
- 17:50Speaker 4: remember you said that one time when we played together
- 17:53Speaker 4: that you were like, you guys get to celebrate your
- 17:55Speaker 4: birthday all the time, and mine gets overshadowed by September eleven.
- 18:00Speaker 4: And you were like, but that's okay, Like I feel
- 18:02Speaker 4: like it's kind of fair.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I mean it's a you know, one of the worst
- 18:07Speaker 2: disasters in American history, So I mean, rightfully, so that's
- 18:11Speaker 2: going to take the cake.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I mean, it's just another day. Man.
- 18:15Speaker 2: The older I get, you know, turning thirty five this year,
- 18:17Speaker 2: it's like, cool, you know it's another birthday, and you know,
- 18:21Speaker 2: actually being in New York, I'm actually thinking about going
- 18:23Speaker 2: down to the uh you know where the trade centers
- 18:27Speaker 2: and everything were on on on our off day in
- 18:30Speaker 2: New York. So like that'll kind of be cool to
- 18:32Speaker 2: kind of go there where it happened, and then also
- 18:35Speaker 2: kind of, you know, celebrate my birthday on an off day,
- 18:38Speaker 2: but go see some history and see some cool things
- 18:40Speaker 2: I've never been to before.
- 18:42Speaker 1: That's actually a really good idea, really good idea to
- 18:44Speaker 1: go check it out around their Freedom Tower. But yeah,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I didn't know that birthday on nine to eleven. That's
- 18:49Speaker 1: tough because it's a somber day you know, in the
- 18:51Speaker 1: country too, right, so you're kind of like, yeah, I
- 18:54Speaker 1: want to celebrate, but also this day is for.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Remembering, right absolutely.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well report back. It's definitely a good spot.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I highly recommend to check it out. Shawn. Awesome, great
- 19:06Speaker 1: having you on here. Thanks for the time, and keep
- 19:08Speaker 1: doing your thing.
- 19:09Speaker 4: Good luck.
- 19:10Speaker 1: We're watching these last few weeks here, we're scoreboard watching
- 19:12Speaker 1: with you.
- 19:14Speaker 3: I appreciate it, guys, thank you for having me.
- 19:16Speaker 1: All Right, we've got Red Sox catcher Carlos Snarbias with
- 19:18Speaker 1: us right now on foul territory, Carlos, how's life with
- 19:21Speaker 1: the Red Sox?
- 19:23Speaker 7: So boys, how are you doing? Really good? Really good?
- 19:25Speaker 7: Hearing in suck Gramando right now?
- 19:29Speaker 1: Oh you got any uh, you got any suggestions for him?
- 19:32Speaker 7: Krats on what to do out there.
- 19:34Speaker 4: I had never been to Sacramento. I'm nope. I only
- 19:41Speaker 4: International League guys. So I hear there's a lot of
- 19:44Speaker 4: good place, good places. What are guys doing? Not really
- 19:47Speaker 4: the day place you want to have like an off
- 19:48Speaker 4: day or something. I don't think, but.
- 19:53Speaker 7: I mean, we just got here last night.
- 19:55Speaker 8: Is my my first time here, actually my first time
- 19:57Speaker 8: going into the West Coast the whole the whole season around.
- 20:02Speaker 4: So nice rookie year. You're always getting out You're getting
- 20:07Speaker 4: out there. You remember your first you remember your first
- 20:10Speaker 4: first flights across the country. Did we have did we
- 20:14Speaker 4: have any turbulence or were we good?
- 20:16Speaker 7: No?
- 20:16Speaker 4: No turbulence on this flight?
- 20:18Speaker 8: Oh my god, bro, no no more, please, no more.
- 20:21Speaker 8: That was that was really tough when we went to Minnesota.
- 20:24Speaker 8: But it was like like forty minutes, like really Trulans.
- 20:27Speaker 7: That was bad.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Was there was there certain guys who were like was
- 20:32Speaker 4: there anybody crying on the plane, because I know, now
- 20:34Speaker 4: this is a gross generalization, but I know some Latin
- 20:37Speaker 4: guys whenever there's turbulence, they stopped playing cards. They just
- 20:41Speaker 4: sit there and they're like, oh please please. Was there
- 20:46Speaker 4: anybody that was really taking the turbulence tough?
- 20:49Speaker 7: Bro?
- 20:50Speaker 8: We literally started like just I mean joking about it
- 20:53Speaker 8: the first ten minutes, and then after damn fifteen, it's like, okay,
- 20:57Speaker 8: this is serious, and everybody stop playing cards, is just
- 21:01Speaker 8: like back in their seats with the seatbelt on it,
- 21:04Speaker 8: and it's like, okay, just just I mean just silent totally,
- 21:08Speaker 8: you know what I mean, Like nobody's talking for the
- 21:11Speaker 8: next twenty minutes. Some people like, you know, I like
- 21:15Speaker 8: yelling like hey, what what is that?
- 21:17Speaker 7: Like what I like? But it was, I mean fun,
- 21:20Speaker 7: but like a scary moment at the same.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Time, Carlos, was anyone yelling out any jokes trying to
- 21:27Speaker 1: lighten the moment and be like if we all go down.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I hated playing with so and so, I loved playing
- 21:34Speaker 1: with so and so. I don't know, just somebody trying to.
- 21:36Speaker 6: Look out there.
- 21:39Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean when we land, I don't know who's
- 21:42Speaker 8: saying I think it's ref nited. I say, like, oh
- 21:44Speaker 8: my god, twins are so are so fun right now,
- 21:47Speaker 8: because I mean, if we make through this and we're
- 21:50Speaker 8: gonna we're just about to play the series against Minnesota,
- 21:53Speaker 8: it's like, okay, if we if we get through this,
- 21:56Speaker 8: we're gonna we're gonna wing everybody.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Now, yeah, exactly, exactly survived. Hey, tell us, tell us
- 22:07Speaker 1: about what it's like to catch some of these guys
- 22:10Speaker 1: that have been shining this year from the pitching staff.
- 22:13Speaker 1: And of course we're gonna start with Garrett Crochet and
- 22:16Speaker 1: Kratz said, that's your cy young pick, so he already
- 22:19Speaker 1: voted for you.
- 22:21Speaker 7: That's my that's my pig too, So we're good. Bro.
- 22:25Speaker 8: Now he's a he's a he's a different piecet bros.
- 22:28Speaker 8: He's an animal. He's always prepared, I always said in
- 22:31Speaker 8: interviews late. His preparation is into the next level. Like
- 22:37Speaker 8: he's as soon as he's finished one start, he gets
- 22:39Speaker 8: the off day, and right after that day, he's he's
- 22:43Speaker 8: prepared his next auting, like taking notes. Scar Reports asked
- 22:47Speaker 8: me questions about it, and sometimes I go like, gee,
- 22:50Speaker 8: it's like we got three more days, so let me,
- 22:53Speaker 8: let me figure out, let me get the scar report,
- 22:55Speaker 8: and we talk tomorrow. So always he's he's always a head,
- 23:00Speaker 8: of course, I mean besides his his skills, his pitches
- 23:04Speaker 8: are elite, fast, elite. His quarter is the lead sweeper,
- 23:09Speaker 8: change up like every once in a while, but those
- 23:11Speaker 8: two main pitches, wills and the sinker a little more
- 23:14Speaker 8: to a leftist and to arieties to get back and
- 23:17Speaker 8: count two.
- 23:17Speaker 7: So last two ordeans for him is being a little rough. Uh.
- 23:21Speaker 8: You got a lot of misfires trying to trying to
- 23:24Speaker 8: go back back foot with the counter and the sweeper
- 23:27Speaker 8: and ended up like out over to variety.
- 23:31Speaker 7: So he's he's work, he's he's working on that. I
- 23:34Speaker 7: know he's not. He's not. He's not happy about it.
- 23:38Speaker 8: But like we got him Tony and hopefully, hopefully it's
- 23:41Speaker 8: going to be a good one.
- 23:43Speaker 4: But how do you know? How do you know he's elite?
- 23:46Speaker 4: You have like four minutes in the big leagus like
- 23:49Speaker 4: you you you talk, you talk, you really do, and
- 23:52Speaker 4: you command like that presence like you've been in the
- 23:55Speaker 4: big leagus and it looks like these pictures they follow you.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Who do you did that too? Or who do you
- 24:01Speaker 4: give like, how do you know like he's the elite
- 24:05Speaker 4: because other people tell you, or it's because you're a
- 24:08Speaker 4: student of the game and you watched a lot of games.
- 24:11Speaker 8: I mean, I watch a lot of games. Of course,
- 24:13Speaker 8: I'm I'm a rookie, you know what I mean. But
- 24:15Speaker 8: I always ask questions. I have really good mentors throughout
- 24:20Speaker 8: I mean my Orch experience, but I mean a really
- 24:24Speaker 8: good mentor. When it was my time with the yankeestory,
- 24:27Speaker 8: Trevino helped me a lot. He was my guy there,
- 24:31Speaker 8: Gary Cole bro he helped me a lot. Like last
- 24:35Speaker 8: year especially, I called him a lot. I call him
- 24:37Speaker 8: his his rehab assignments in the minors when he was
- 24:41Speaker 8: trying to get to the big least again, So we
- 24:44Speaker 8: got a lot of conversations about the game plan and stuff.
- 24:47Speaker 8: So I just see bees I mean, and it's like
- 24:51Speaker 8: the same type of preparation and focus as I mean
- 24:57Speaker 8: Gary cole had in the moments. So it's of course,
- 25:01Speaker 8: it's we are at the end of the.
- 25:04Speaker 7: Season right now.
- 25:05Speaker 8: I mean, we're seeing a lot of pitchers right now,
- 25:07Speaker 8: and Broke Creche is one on the top right, I
- 25:09Speaker 8: mean top three right now. That's my piag we got
- 25:13Speaker 8: like I don't know, three or maybe three more outings
- 25:15Speaker 8: for him, So we gonna we're gonna make this ruin
- 25:19Speaker 8: to be to him getting in the into the.
- 25:21Speaker 7: SI War.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Time for your weekly Arena Club segment where we see
- 25:26Speaker 1: what AJ pulls from a slab pack and we go
- 25:32Speaker 1: pull Emerald pack this week. AJ looking for something big.
- 25:37Speaker 6: Always, I'm always looking for the big thing next.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Big things, got big money, big money.
- 25:41Speaker 6: Baby.
- 25:42Speaker 4: We've got a.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Dave Winfield card from nineteen seventy four, seventy four tops
- 25:47Speaker 1: card from this Emerald pack. Estimated value three hundred bucks.
- 25:53Speaker 1: You could sell it back for two seventy sold sold.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I feel like you are into more of the current players,
- 26:00Speaker 1: be accurate, like d my show room.
- 26:02Speaker 6: I have a Robbin you out, I have a Griffy
- 26:03Speaker 6: Rookie car.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Oh that's true, So I mean I have some.
- 26:06Speaker 6: Older vintage players. Bob Gibson.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you have Gibson.
- 26:10Speaker 5: So I know I disagree Scott, But Dave Winfield for
- 26:13Speaker 5: that amount of money back, I'm reselling it.
- 26:16Speaker 1: And if you want to get your own pack or
- 26:18Speaker 1: new card, you can get twenty percent off your first
- 26:20Speaker 1: slab pack or card purchase at arenaclub dot com slash foul.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Do you ever get on him about his pants and
- 26:27Speaker 5: why he tight rolls his pants at the bottom? Why
- 26:29Speaker 5: don't you ask no one ever talked to him, what
- 26:31Speaker 5: the hell's wrong with your pants?
- 26:32Speaker 6: Dude? Yeah?
- 26:34Speaker 8: I asked him about it one time and told me, like,
- 26:36Speaker 8: in high school, I think it's this is right. In
- 26:40Speaker 8: high school, he's always told so his his pants never
- 26:43Speaker 8: fit him, like like longwise, so he's on one day
- 26:47Speaker 8: he just put it like that, and it's like he
- 26:50Speaker 8: keep it and he's speeching right now in the biggies
- 26:52Speaker 8: like that. I used told me, like, bro, you're in
- 26:54Speaker 8: the big league. You can make your pants however you want.
- 26:57Speaker 8: I said, I know, I want to keep like this.
- 26:59Speaker 4: So yeah, the reason nobody says anything is because he's
- 27:04Speaker 4: six foot seven. Who wins in a fight him or
- 27:08Speaker 4: all this? Chapman, I got it.
- 27:12Speaker 8: That's like, but I gotta say, choppy, bro, choppy workout
- 27:15Speaker 8: every day. He's I don't know, he's another beast right there,
- 27:19Speaker 8: so probably choppy.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Okay, what is it like catching him right now? I
- 27:25Speaker 4: caught him backing let's see, I'm seventeen, and then again
- 27:30Speaker 4: in spring training, and then twenty Also, what is it like,
- 27:34Speaker 4: what is it like catching him on the heater that
- 27:38Speaker 4: he's on right now, fifty straight batters that he faced.
- 27:40Speaker 4: You think he's so good you didn't even want to
- 27:43Speaker 4: catch the one strikeout so he could get four strikeouts
- 27:45Speaker 4: last night.
- 27:47Speaker 8: I told him, I told him yesterday, like, Bro, you're
- 27:49Speaker 8: still making history. You got a four strikeout night and
- 27:52Speaker 8: in it's safe. So it's like, no, that bitch West grows.
- 27:57Speaker 8: I don't know if, of course this is my first time,
- 28:00Speaker 8: my first year catching him. I didn't see him like
- 28:02Speaker 8: when he was I don't know in twenty eight when
- 28:05Speaker 8: he was throwing like one o five. But right now,
- 28:07Speaker 8: to me, how he's pitching, how are looking from behind
- 28:11Speaker 8: the play?
- 28:12Speaker 7: He's on his peak.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Bro.
- 28:13Speaker 8: He can throw ninety nine when he wants, he can
- 28:16Speaker 8: throw ninety five. He can get the split down, he
- 28:18Speaker 8: can throw the slider. Yesterday he got a couple of
- 28:21Speaker 8: days off and his fastball wasn't there, so we were
- 28:25Speaker 8: lean a little more on the houspy and the spin,
- 28:29Speaker 8: so we got the slider and and the split. It
- 28:32Speaker 8: involved early, so it's like he's able to do that, bro,
- 28:37Speaker 8: and his age, like thirty seven years old, he's able
- 28:40Speaker 8: to this day, Bro, the slighter is the pitch we
- 28:43Speaker 8: can throw sliders. This day is the split we can
- 28:46Speaker 8: throw split. And this day is the fast one. You
- 28:48Speaker 8: may see ten fast in a row. So it's like
- 28:51Speaker 8: he's the pitcher, like he can do that right now,
- 28:53Speaker 8: and he's always prepared and he's he's not his business. Bro,
- 28:56Speaker 8: He's been in a in this live for a while
- 28:59Speaker 8: and he knows when he when he needs to.
- 29:01Speaker 7: Come like right away throwing a hundred.
- 29:04Speaker 8: He he will do it when he trying to command
- 29:06Speaker 8: and trying to manage his his worklow, he can throw
- 29:10Speaker 8: ninety five and then as the bats going through ninety nine,
- 29:13Speaker 8: you know what I mean.
- 29:14Speaker 7: So it's a it's a different animal. So proud to
- 29:18Speaker 7: just just got him at.
- 29:20Speaker 8: This at this time of the year for him, you know,
- 29:24Speaker 8: like social history what he's doing fifty batters in a row.
- 29:29Speaker 8: So I just I just feel feels blessed, blessed to
- 29:32Speaker 8: be behind the playwind.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Hey Carlos, did you hear about that story where he
- 29:38Speaker 1: goes in spring training, Oh, I think I'm gonna actually
- 29:41Speaker 1: spot my fastball now a billion years into my big
- 29:44Speaker 1: league career. Did you hear about that. It looks like
- 29:47Speaker 1: you did from your smile, And what did you think
- 29:50Speaker 1: when he finally realized I'm not just gonna throw it
- 29:52Speaker 1: towards the play, I'm actually going to aim this thing
- 29:55Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 29:56Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean it's kind of kind of it's kind
- 29:58Speaker 8: of crazy because I mean, when you are a catcher,
- 30:01Speaker 8: you want to call fast all away fast well le
- 30:03Speaker 8: fastball opinion, especially with the pitch come so now, I
- 30:06Speaker 8: mean he's after he's being a lead for a while
- 30:10Speaker 8: and he's just saying like, okay, and I'm actually locating
- 30:13Speaker 8: my fastball now in when I want it away when
- 30:16Speaker 8: I want it. It's like, okay, just I mean, I don't,
- 30:19Speaker 8: I don't. I don't know why you didn't before. Let's
- 30:21Speaker 8: do it, you know. So it was I don't know
- 30:24Speaker 8: his his pitching. We com picching now and every pitch
- 30:28Speaker 8: had had an intent probably I don't know all decoration
- 30:33Speaker 8: on him what he's succeeding, succeeding right now, but he
- 30:37Speaker 8: was a big, big adjudgment for him.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Bro, he throws two fastballs and people don't don't know this,
- 30:45Speaker 4: but it's fastball. When he goes glove side into a righty,
- 30:48Speaker 4: it cuts correct and then when it way, it's sinks
- 30:52Speaker 4: it runs away from the righty or into or lefty.
- 30:54Speaker 7: Yes, yes, yes, it's more like a runner.
- 30:58Speaker 4: But yes, nobody.
- 31:00Speaker 7: Yeah, he throw both. He throw both, so.
- 31:03Speaker 4: He throws the sinker and sometimes also.
- 31:07Speaker 7: I think that's that's that's a misfire. You gotta be
- 31:10Speaker 7: ready for it.
- 31:10Speaker 8: And you you as a catcher, I mean you know
- 31:13Speaker 8: it's tough for like, especially with him, like with his
- 31:16Speaker 8: wind up and his mechanics. Is it's gotten you fast.
- 31:20Speaker 8: So those those into a too already misfires.
- 31:25Speaker 7: We want to go up away with the sinker. It's
- 31:28Speaker 7: not a sinker.
- 31:28Speaker 8: It's more like a like a runner with the force
- 31:32Speaker 8: in sometimes cuts, So you gotta be ready for it.
- 31:34Speaker 8: Like as a as a hitter, I don't know. I
- 31:37Speaker 8: never faced him, so I don't I don't want to
- 31:39Speaker 8: face him. I want to catch him. So like it's
- 31:42Speaker 8: going on you fast, and he got he got controls.
- 31:45Speaker 7: Of all his pitches.
- 31:47Speaker 8: He he can't control the fast, but he can control
- 31:49Speaker 8: the sinker, the slighter the split. So the split is
- 31:53Speaker 8: the most difficult right now because you don't know where
- 31:55Speaker 8: it goes.
- 31:55Speaker 7: But it's nasty, like you got we fund it.
- 31:58Speaker 8: You gotta swing a miss with that pitch, so you
- 32:01Speaker 8: keep callinghim. But sometimes cuts down sometimes aren't fade down,
- 32:05Speaker 8: so he's like, you gotta be ready for it.
- 32:06Speaker 7: But the common thing with the split is going.
- 32:10Speaker 8: Down always, So that's why it's a good pitch. You
- 32:13Speaker 8: can find swinging and miss there, so we continue to
- 32:16Speaker 8: call it. But that's what happened yesterday. That's plea was
- 32:20Speaker 8: like ninety two and cuts down a little bit, and
- 32:23Speaker 8: they previously that he throw me was like more straight down,
- 32:26Speaker 8: So it just it's just something you gotta be ready
- 32:29Speaker 8: for it.
- 32:29Speaker 7: But it's nazy, all right.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Well tell him when you see him today that I
- 32:34Speaker 4: never had any problem catching him or heading off him,
- 32:38Speaker 4: and he'll he'll know exactly what you're talking about. But
- 32:41Speaker 4: my question was going to be on that split, because
- 32:44Speaker 4: I remember the first time I ever caught that split.
- 32:46Speaker 4: He threw it one time in a bullpen in twenty seventeen,
- 32:50Speaker 4: and it's like a it's like a knuckleball sometimes, like
- 32:54Speaker 4: the way it comes out, and then in eighteen he
- 32:56Speaker 4: started throwing it in spring training. I remember catching him
- 32:59Speaker 4: in twenty then and thinking I don't like, I didn't
- 33:03Speaker 4: even want to call it. Do you ever sit there
- 33:04Speaker 4: and go just like you said, like it's gonna be nasty,
- 33:07Speaker 4: do you ever sit there and go I don't know,
- 33:10Speaker 4: Like this is a one run game. I know this
- 33:13Speaker 4: will get the strikeout, but I gotta keep it in front.
- 33:15Speaker 4: I'm not sure where it's gonna be. Do you ever
- 33:17Speaker 4: hesitate or you're just like now whatever?
- 33:19Speaker 8: We got this yeah right now at this point though,
- 33:22Speaker 8: But early on this season, I remember one series we
- 33:25Speaker 8: went again to Milwaukee that was like maybe early June.
- 33:29Speaker 8: There's split wasn't there. It was like he was throwing that.
- 33:33Speaker 7: On the deer, like so it was bad. It was bad.
- 33:36Speaker 7: I remember where I cool Istory like one day.
- 33:39Speaker 8: I think it was a safe in Milwaukee or not
- 33:41Speaker 8: a safe because I think we lost those three games.
- 33:43Speaker 8: But it was one game there and he is knocked
- 33:46Speaker 8: down like so bad out front.
- 33:49Speaker 7: I just blogg and got it, got me into the throat.
- 33:52Speaker 8: So it's like okay, wait after the game, like I
- 33:54Speaker 8: just went on him in his logo and said like,
- 33:57Speaker 8: hey bro, this is clarid. You're gonna throw again in
- 34:00Speaker 8: December at you house. We're never gonna throw this is
- 34:02Speaker 8: split again. And then and then he got a little
- 34:05Speaker 8: I mean, he joked, but then he was like, Okay,
- 34:08Speaker 8: you're gonna see that. I'm gonna, I gonna, I'm gonna
- 34:11Speaker 8: fix this this pitch.
- 34:12Speaker 7: Bro.
- 34:12Speaker 8: Like literally two weeks after he started throwing the split.
- 34:16Speaker 8: I think we were in New York, the first series
- 34:19Speaker 8: in New York, and we threw one to Bolpy. I
- 34:22Speaker 8: remember that one, and we threw him out with that
- 34:25Speaker 8: one said like, okay, bro, this is split place. And
- 34:28Speaker 8: after that, brother, like that was early like mid June probably,
- 34:31Speaker 8: and after that the split is being amazing. Like I
- 34:35Speaker 8: don't I don't, I don't hesitate that that that pitch anymore.
- 34:38Speaker 8: Like I said, you gotta be ready because you don't
- 34:40Speaker 8: know where it goes. But like it is nasty, it
- 34:42Speaker 8: is nasty, and like you you find swing a miss,
- 34:46Speaker 8: but now don't don't, don't don't hesitate early June probably
- 34:50Speaker 8: may but now but no.
- 34:52Speaker 4: Now, all right, So you were the Yankees and then
- 34:56Speaker 4: you get traded to the Red Sox. What is that?
- 34:59Speaker 7: Like?
- 35:00Speaker 4: What is that feeling of constantly being surrounded in the
- 35:03Speaker 4: Yankees organization of Red Sox suck? Red Sox suck, And
- 35:06Speaker 4: all of a sudden you're like wait a minute, I
- 35:08Speaker 4: just got traded to them. I just spent all this
- 35:11Speaker 4: time saying how much the Red Sox suck, and now
- 35:14Speaker 4: I love the Red Sox and the Yankees suck. Take
- 35:17Speaker 4: us through that emotion when you got traded, but you
- 35:20Speaker 4: got traded to the Red Sox.
- 35:24Speaker 7: No, bro, it's not a secret, like how's how's this rivalry?
- 35:28Speaker 7: You know what I mean?
- 35:29Speaker 8: Like of course when I was over there, like you
- 35:32Speaker 8: always see the Red Sox as as.
- 35:34Speaker 7: They see it, you know.
- 35:35Speaker 8: So when I when I got traded, I wasn't Venezuela
- 35:38Speaker 8: playing Winter Bowl. Actually I remember it was the h
- 35:42Speaker 8: that day, so it was the last day of the
- 35:45Speaker 8: Winter meetings.
- 35:46Speaker 7: So I just keep my phone on ring just in case.
- 35:50Speaker 8: And I went to a bayroom and my phone, my
- 35:52Speaker 8: phone was was ringing. Somebody was calling. I didn't think
- 35:57Speaker 8: the answer. I didn't have the number safe. So then
- 35:59Speaker 8: like findnes after my phone keeps kids training, So I said, okay,
- 36:03Speaker 8: I just pick it up and it was somebody from
- 36:07Speaker 8: the Yankees telling me that it was trade to the Rex.
- 36:10Speaker 8: So I was like okay, I just said I just
- 36:12Speaker 8: sat like okay, like this just happened. Just ninety years
- 36:16Speaker 8: with them, so it's like, Okay, I guess this is good.
- 36:20Speaker 7: Uh, And then I look into the news.
- 36:23Speaker 8: That was the same day that the character check got
- 36:26Speaker 8: got traded to here to to Boston, so it's like, okay,
- 36:31Speaker 8: this is this is interesting, like the thing is is
- 36:34Speaker 8: making move and they want to and I just I
- 36:37Speaker 8: just part part of it at the moment.
- 36:40Speaker 7: So it's like really cool for me. Of course, like
- 36:42Speaker 7: a lot.
- 36:43Speaker 8: Of emotions, Like I don't know if I was happy
- 36:46Speaker 8: or not at the b at the beginning, but then bro,
- 36:50Speaker 8: like I just I just continued to play over there.
- 36:52Speaker 8: That was December twelfth, I think, and I was training
- 36:56Speaker 8: really good in the off season.
- 36:58Speaker 7: I just finished my program.
- 37:00Speaker 8: I I just want just want to be ready and
- 37:03Speaker 8: get get ready to to spring training.
- 37:06Speaker 7: So that was happy bro.
- 37:08Speaker 8: Like after I mean the first time I got I
- 37:10Speaker 8: got into into into for my yers, it was really cool,
- 37:14Speaker 8: like everybody was so happy with me, like it was
- 37:17Speaker 8: really good welcoming and I just I just feel home
- 37:20Speaker 8: from from day one. So that was crazy, like how
- 37:24Speaker 8: how I was seeing the Red Source and now from
- 37:28Speaker 8: purday I feel home here Like it was such a
- 37:31Speaker 8: special and now it's the opposite, you know what I mean,
- 37:34Speaker 8: you see you see over there and you want to
- 37:36Speaker 8: beat them.
- 37:39Speaker 4: That's it's easy to switch to want to beat them.
- 37:41Speaker 4: What did they tell you coming into the season. What
- 37:43Speaker 4: did the Red Sox tell you coming into the season?
- 37:45Speaker 4: Because Connor Wong and had a really good year last year,
- 37:48Speaker 4: did they say it was gonna be a split? They
- 37:50Speaker 4: say it was gonna be a platoon? Did they say
- 37:52Speaker 4: it was going to be you know what they liked
- 37:54Speaker 4: from you that they saw that they wanted you to
- 37:56Speaker 4: continue to do over here with the Red Sox.
- 37:59Speaker 7: Yeah. No.
- 38:00Speaker 8: At the beginning on Sprint twenty, I just I just
- 38:02Speaker 8: was fighting to get to get the job, you know
- 38:04Speaker 8: what I mean, like to get the second spot. Uh
- 38:09Speaker 8: I was already in the village with the Yankees, but
- 38:11Speaker 8: I never made my you know what I mean, my
- 38:13Speaker 8: from day one in the Big Grey, So I was
- 38:16Speaker 8: fighting for the spot. I had the new like two
- 38:21Speaker 8: days before we break camp.
- 38:23Speaker 7: So I don't know at the moment, I mean, Connor
- 38:27Speaker 7: was a guy.
- 38:27Speaker 8: I just want to help him and work together. Uh so,
- 38:34Speaker 8: and then unfortunately that happened to him early early on
- 38:38Speaker 8: the season. It was nobody left, you know what I mean,
- 38:41Speaker 8: Like I just I used to accountability on that one
- 38:44Speaker 8: that that I.
- 38:46Speaker 7: Was playing a little more more time.
- 38:48Speaker 8: So it was like, I don't know, like maybe in
- 38:51Speaker 8: April I think it was so and then you know,
- 38:55Speaker 8: I mean he went back and we we just keep
- 38:57Speaker 8: working together, you know what I mean, Like I don't
- 39:00Speaker 8: we never okay, you're you're the starting now or you're
- 39:02Speaker 8: the backup now. We're just from day one, we're gonna
- 39:05Speaker 8: work together as a team. We always been tall like
- 39:09Speaker 8: from from ac as a team. When you want to
- 39:12Speaker 8: win a word ceio of when you want to accomplish
- 39:15Speaker 8: big things, everybody gotta be involved, you know what I mean.
- 39:18Speaker 8: From als, We're here, the guys center play right now.
- 39:21Speaker 8: So it's like everybody got to be in the same boat.
- 39:24Speaker 8: I'm gotta be ready to win games. So like I said,
- 39:27Speaker 8: like I've never been told I know you're going to
- 39:29Speaker 8: be the starting now, you're gonna be the back up whatever,
- 39:31Speaker 8: like from from from day one, the the goal is
- 39:34Speaker 8: the same work work together.
- 39:37Speaker 7: But yeah, that's that's basically what happened, all right.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Last one, who's better you or your cousin Omar, Because
- 39:45Speaker 4: I'm sure when you first got the big leagues, people
- 39:48Speaker 4: were like wait a minute, did Omar Nervaas get taller
- 39:52Speaker 4: and he changed his name? What's up with that? So
- 39:55Speaker 4: who's my horror? Man?
- 39:59Speaker 8: I thin I've been hearing that like, oh you're home
- 40:03Speaker 8: or whatever. No, I mean not now, but for some
- 40:06Speaker 8: months it was the same thing everywhere I went. But
- 40:10Speaker 8: I remember bro Omar has having had nine years in
- 40:13Speaker 8: the big list. I gotta say him, bro I just,
- 40:15Speaker 8: I just, I don't have my four year yet, so
- 40:18Speaker 8: it's like I gotta say him.
- 40:20Speaker 7: I gotta. I gotta respect.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Seniority for now, for now. But the career, the career
- 40:28Speaker 1: is young for you. So we're excited. Man, you've got
- 40:30Speaker 1: a great personality. This was really fun to hear some
- 40:33Speaker 1: of your stories, especially about Chapman and all the other
- 40:36Speaker 1: guys that you're catching. So thanks for joining us. Don't
- 40:38Speaker 1: be a stranger. This was really good. And good luck,
- 40:40Speaker 1: good luck in this last little stretch here we'll be watching.
- 40:43Speaker 8: Thanks Carlos, thank you, bro I I just I give
- 40:46Speaker 8: me like one moment, I just want to say thank
- 40:48Speaker 8: you to Aja. I just see him when I was
- 40:50Speaker 8: when I was young, seeing him catching and of course Eric,
- 40:53Speaker 8: I don't know every if you remember we meet him
- 40:56Speaker 8: the Yankees. I was so young. You were there, but
- 40:58Speaker 8: I was I don't know, right in rookie ball. But
- 41:01Speaker 8: you guys are always fun to watch. And I remember
- 41:05Speaker 8: Eric always had the smiling your face, always always always joking.
- 41:11Speaker 8: That was that was really cool to see when it
- 41:13Speaker 8: was at that age. So thank you guys, no doubt.
- 41:18Speaker 4: No doubt.
- 41:20Speaker 5: By the way, you can smack Veritech for me when
- 41:22Speaker 5: you see him, I will.
- 41:26Speaker 4: Yeah, just.
- 41:29Speaker 7: Just like that.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Yeah, don't just smack him on unannounced. Definitely give him
- 41:37Speaker 1: this disclaimer.
- 41:38Speaker 7: Yeah, take a video. I'm gonna take a video away
- 41:42Speaker 7: like that. Hey bro, this is from.
- 41:44Speaker 4: From a yes exact. We have a long history, so
- 41:48Speaker 4: we know each other for a long long time. So
- 41:50Speaker 4: really good guy, really good guy.
- 41:54Speaker 7: Thank you.
