Medicaid Changes Affecting Noncitizens in NC | Wilmington News
Starting October 1, 2026, some noncitizens in North Carolina will lose Medicaid coverage — but U.S. citizens are unaffected. Green card holders, Cuban and Haitian entrants, and certain children/pregnant women remain covered. Others impacted include refugees, asylum seekers, and humanitarian parolees. Losing coverage affects everything from doctor visits to mental health care. NC DHHS hosts a Spanish-language Q&A event Aug. 25 at 6 PM on Facebook, X, or YouTube.
