- 0:11Speaker 1: On the podcast, we get to spend some time with
- 0:13Speaker 1: a very special guest, somebody who is renowned, respected and
- 0:17Speaker 1: has so much wisdom to share with us. This stops
- 0:20Speaker 1: justin Colson. By the way, I'm the founder of Happy
- 0:22Speaker 1: Families dot com dot you and the host of the
- 0:24Speaker 1: Happy Families Podcast and the parenting expert on Parental Guidance
- 0:28Speaker 1: Channel nind's TV show All about Parenting. We start filming
- 0:31Speaker 1: season two real soon. Can't wait to tell you more
- 0:33Speaker 1: about that. A little while ago, in episode three hundred
- 0:36Speaker 1: and twenty four of the Happy Families Podcast, I had
- 0:39Speaker 1: a chat with one of Australia's best known parenting authors,
- 0:43Speaker 1: speakers and thinkers. You might have heard of him. You
- 0:46Speaker 1: probably have. His name is Steve Bidolf. Steve Bidolf and
- 0:49Speaker 1: I had a great chat about one of his most
- 0:53Speaker 1: recent gifts to the world, a brand new book called
- 0:56Speaker 1: Fully Human. And as we chatted, I asked Steve, what's
- 1:00Speaker 1: the single overarching thing that matters most for parents?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yes, if I could write it on the sky, you know,
- 1:07Speaker 2: get one of those plans to ride it on the sky.
- 1:09Speaker 2: It would be that hurry is the enemy of love,
- 1:14Speaker 2: and it's become my motto. It's on the top of
- 1:16Speaker 2: my website. It's because when we hurry, of course we
- 1:20Speaker 2: love our children and we love our partners. But if
- 1:22Speaker 2: we're rushing, we never quite connect. And it's only by
- 1:26Speaker 2: slowing down that we really are with each other. It
- 1:30Speaker 2: takes time to find your kids when they come home
- 1:32Speaker 2: from school, and husband and wife to find each other
- 1:35Speaker 2: get attuned again. And so you know, hurrying is the
- 1:39Speaker 2: madness of the modern world and it destroys love. And
- 1:42Speaker 2: so please, if you possibly can slow it down? Does
- 1:46Speaker 2: that make sense? Kylie?
- 1:47Speaker 1: And justin Steve Bitoff episode three hundred and twenty four
- 1:51Speaker 1: is where you can go to hear the entire conversation.
- 1:54Speaker 1: What a great tip, what a great idea, What an
- 1:56Speaker 1: important reminder for us as parents. Just when you think
- 2:04Speaker 1: you've got this parenting gig nailed, your child hits some
- 2:07Speaker 1: new milestone that leaves you figuratively banging your head against
- 2:10Speaker 1: the wall. You wonder, where's the instruction manual? Your growth guide?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Is that instruction manual a webinar outlining basic milestones so
- 2:19Speaker 1: you know where your child's at, where they're going and
- 2:21Speaker 1: what you can expect. Get insights, reassurance and support from
- 2:26Speaker 1: your Growth Guide, available online at Happy families dot com
- 2:29Speaker 1: dot au. It's the Happy Family's podcast, the podcast for
- 2:32Speaker 1: the time poor parent who just wants answers now. I

- 2:40Speaker 1: and giving you the very best bits from our very
- 2:42Speaker 1: best interviews. I can't wait to tell you about the
- 2:44Speaker 1: rest of this week. We're going to be speaking with
- 2:46Speaker 1: Maggie Dent on Wednesday, talking about her book, Raising Boys
- 2:50Speaker 1: and whether the culture is unkind to young boys. Tomorrow
- 2:53Speaker 1: a chat with one of Australia's most recognized child and
- 2:56Speaker 1: adolescent psychologists. His name is Andrew Fuller. We're going to
- 2:59Speaker 1: be talking about fee and how we can respond to
- 3:01Speaker 1: our kids feelings in helpful ways. And one of my
- 3:04Speaker 1: favorite researchers on the entire planet, a guy called Ethan Cross.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Professor Ethan Cross is at the University of Michigan and
- 3:12Speaker 1: he does some extraordinarily important work on how we can
- 3:15Speaker 1: manage our own big emotions so that we can be
- 3:17Speaker 1: better parents. I can't wait for you to hear Thursday's
- 3:19Speaker 1: episode It's All coming up. On the Happy Families podcast tomorrow,
