- 10:37Your papa got scared this Halloween night. Are you laughing,
- 10:42little monster? Because Papa scream? I'm glad you've had fun
- 10:46on your first Halloween. Our next story is called bad
- 10:50Kitty Scary Cat and it was published by Neil Porter
- 10:54Book of Roaring Book Press has a copyright year of
- 10:58twenty sixteen and the author is Nick Rule.
- 11:02Speaker 2: She wasn't always a scaredy cat.
- 11:04Speaker 1: She used to be woof an angry kitty, a brave kitty,
- 11:10a clumsy kitty, a daring kitty, an energetic kitty, a
- 11:14fearless kitty, a gallant kitty, a heroic chillie, and an
- 11:19ebt kitty. A jumble kitty, a kittenish kitty, a loopy kitty,
- 11:25a muddle kitty, a numb kitty, an outraged kitty, a
- 11:30powerful kitty, a quick kitty, a resolute kitty, a strong kitty,
- 11:35a tough kitty, a upended kitty, a vixed kitty, a
- 11:41wet kitty, an exasperated kitty, a youthful kitty, and a
- 11:45zestful kitty. But then one dark and foggy night, something
- 11:49terrible happened.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Dean dall.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Out of the darkness and into our doorway appeared the
- 11:54most horrible and frightening creatures Kitty had ever seen. Trick
- 11:59or treat. She saw an awful alien, a bizarre bigfoot,
- 12:04a creepy clown, a dreadful dragon, an evil ectoplasm, a
- 12:10frightful frankenstein, a ghastly goblin, a hideous hag, an intimidating
- 12:16invisible man, a jarring jack, O lanterer, a killer craken,
- 12:21a loathsome lion, a monstrous mummy, a noisy nthandral, an
- 12:27odious org, a putrid pirate, a quirky qasamoto, a rusty robot,
- 12:36a scary skeleton, a toxic transula, uncle murray, Hey, I've
- 12:43ran out of candy, can I borrow some? A vile vampire,
- 12:47a wicked werewolf, an extremely exotic X ray creature, a
- 12:52yucky yetty, and a zany zombie. That's how she became
- 12:57a scaredy cat. That's how she became just a very
- 12:59very scared, scared, scaredy little kitty. Poor kitty, Poor poor kitty.
- 13:05But then oops, I dropped my canie. That's when she
- 13:09saw it. She saw apples, bubblegum, caney corn, dried fruit,
- 13:15english toffee, fudge, gum drops, hard candy, Italian truffles, jellybeans,
- 13:21kiwi fruit, lollipops, marshmallows, necklaces, oranges, pretzels, quins, candy, raisin, strawberry, licorice,
- 13:31taffy and salted nuts, vanilla cookies, white chocolate, wax lips,
- 13:37yellow bananas, and zoo animal crackers. Kitty decided there and
- 13:42then that she would not be a scared little kitty anymore.
- 13:45She decided she would be a bad kitty. But not
- 13:49just any bad kitty.
- 13:50Speaker 2: She would be.
- 13:50Speaker 1: A very, very, very.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Bad, bad bad kitty.
- 13:54Speaker 1: She attacked the alien, battered Bigfoot, clabbered, the clown, demolished,
- 14:00the dragon, eradicated, the ectoplasm flat and Frankenstein nod on
- 14:08the Goblin, harassed the hag, injured, the invisible Man, jostled
- 14:13the jackal lantern, kicked the kraken, lamb basted the lion,
- 14:18mauled the mummy, nullified the nan and thandravral overturned, the
- 14:23ogre pinched the pirate, quashed, the Quasioto, ruined the robot,
- 14:30smashed the skeleton, tackle the tarantula, upset, Uncle Murray vanquished
- 14:37the vampire, wiped the werewoof extinguished the x ray creature,
- 14:42yanked the yetti and zing the zombie.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Hooray for Kitty.
- 14:47Speaker 1: All by herself, Kitty managed to chase those horrible creatures
- 14:51back out into the night. Kitty decided there and then
- 14:54that she would never be a scaredy cat. Woof. Our
- 15:02next book is called Tacky in the Haunted Igloo and
- 15:05it was published by Houghton Mifflin Hardcore. It has a
- 15:09copyright year of twenty fifteen and the author is Helen Leicester.
- 15:14Halloween was coming to Nice icy Land, and this year
- 15:18was special because the penguins had decided to turn their
- 15:21iglue into a haunted igloo. Wouldn't that be fun? It's
- 15:24scary for the trigger treater guests.
- 15:27Speaker 2: For days.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Goodly and Lovely had decorated their home with cobwebs, pumpkins, skeletons,
- 15:33warning signs in all things Halloween. Meanwhile, Angel, neatly and
- 15:39perfect worked on the trees yummy gummy Swedish fish and
- 15:43awful waffles and what to tacky the penguin do, snakey
- 15:47tacky sample the treats by the dozen and pronounce them
- 15:51be smacking good. When the morning of the big Halloween
- 15:55night rode around, the penguins had a staff meeting. Who
- 15:59was going to haunt the igloo? They were, of course,
- 16:03and that meant that they had to choose very scary costumes.
- 16:08I'm scared of insects, said Goody, so Goodly became an insect.
- 16:12I'm afraid of the dark, admitted Lovely, so lovely. We're
- 16:15a dark outfit with a big black mustache. The scariest
- 16:19things I can think of are monsters, stammered Angel, who
- 16:25had become a monster, and thunder and lightning or worse,
- 16:28added Neatly in a stormy outfit. As for me, announced perfect,
- 16:33I am afraid of bubbles, bubbles, bubbles. But Perfect was perfect,
- 16:38so no one dared to ask any questions. Now the
- 16:43companions turned to Taki, Taki, what are you afraid of?
- 16:47Taki couldn't think of a single thing that frightened him nothing,
- 16:51but cried his companions. You can't wear nothing. It's Halloween,
- 16:55think Taki.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Think so.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Taki will off to a thinking place and thunk and
- 17:01thunk and thunk. Lozy that evening, the first trick or
- 17:07truers arrived at the haunted Igloo, shivering in julight at
- 17:11the scary sounds like the bows of the insect in.
- 17:15Speaker 2: The blub of a bubble.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Cobwebs surrounded the visitors and skeletons popped out of the walls.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Oh, it was so scary.
- 17:25Speaker 1: The trick or treers kept coming and coming and coming,
- 17:29and when they had been scared silly, they all departed happily,
- 17:33with shivering spines, feathers on end, and bags loaded with
- 17:36Swedish fish and awful waffles.
- 17:40Speaker 2: That was the best.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Hanted igloo in the history of the world. But wait,
- 17:44things were going too well. We're aware was tacky? Had
- 17:49he forgotten it was Halloween? Knock knock, banguity knock. The
- 17:54entire igloo clinked as it shook. Who should be banging
- 17:58so loudly? Noise hurt their earplaces? With caution, goodly, lovely angel,
- 18:05neatly and perfect creaked the door open, and there stood
- 18:09three ghosts.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Three ghosts.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Two wasted no time in announcing we're trick or treating
- 18:14ghosties and we ain't no two thief theories. So give
- 18:18all your yummy treats or we'll do something scaries. Give
- 18:24all your yummy treats. Now, that really was scary, And
- 18:28the reason it really was scary was that there was
- 18:31no yummy treats left thanks to the visitors, and especially
- 18:36thanks to snakey tacking, not a Swedish fish scale or
- 18:39an awful waffle crumble remain. Three ghosts searched tie and
- 18:45low and sideways for signs of a treat nothing, and
- 18:49after finding nothing, they whipped off their costumes gas. But
- 18:54the hunters were back. We's not called hunters for nutting,
- 18:58they grout, and with that they began and the chase
- 19:01gonna catch some pretty penguins and will grab him by
- 19:04the toe and we'll PLoP him in our treatsy bags. Haughty,
- 19:08ho ho. All this commotion to stir Tacky's nap or
- 19:14thinking must be part of time, he thought, as he
- 19:17rushed to get ready. Bursting on the scene, he shouted,
- 19:21is this a scary costume or what? His companions pointed
- 19:26frantically to the big bullies in the doorway. Takied Wada
- 19:30right up to the biggest hunter, gave him a friendly
- 19:33flipper slap and exclaimed.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Well, how do he do? Bro bro bro?
- 19:38Speaker 1: The hunter went from looking into looking slightly confused. Bro
- 19:43like in brudder, he mumbled as he looked at taking
- 19:47more closely. The big fellow began to get nervous. Him's
- 19:50got them same bootsies yep, same pansy's shirty and suspender
- 19:56rendered denders, same scary yup and looky him hat just
- 20:02like mine.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Gotta be knee brudder. And then a worst.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Thought hit him right in the hitty bitty brain. But wait,
- 20:10hym's just exactly like me. Him's meet twin, brudder. Then
- 20:15me's a twin and so scary looking me scared of meself?
- 20:20And if that, all three hunters dove their furry paws
- 20:24over their eyes. So there the penguins were stuck with
- 20:28three shaken and shivering hunters under the kitchen table. How
- 20:32long would they stay there? A week, a month, forever?
- 20:37The shivering would wobble the table, so the soup would spill,
- 20:40and there would they put their weebies when they sat
- 20:44down to eat. There were no treats left to coax
- 20:48them out. Maybe, just maybe they could frighten them away,
- 20:52so they tried their best or worst haunting noises went
- 20:58the insect wubb lubb moaned the dark one e each creached,
- 21:04screeched the monster boom bitty boom roared the thunder blooh
- 21:09blah blub bubbled the bubble. The hunter stitt in budge
- 21:14then Tacky chirped, Hey Bro, I'm coming home with you.
- 21:18Well that did it up, popped Big Bro. As he
- 21:23and his buddies fled the igloo, the hunter called, you's
- 21:27not coming home with me, twinsy brother, you bes too scarzy.
- 21:33He galloped away as fast as he could go, wondering
- 21:38does me have a bee like me? Twin brother as
- 21:42a sidekick's hissed.
- 21:44Speaker 2: You think you were scared?
- 21:47Speaker 1: We was seeing double two if you was twice as
- 21:51scary back in the igloo, goody, lovely angel, neatly and
- 21:57perfect hug Tacky Tacky was an but a nice.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Bird to have around.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Our next story is about characters Ali and Amy, and
