- Lisa: Hello and welcome to Nurtural Disasters. This is a podcast for those of us with toxic or emotionally immature parents. We might not have a bunch of credentials next to our names, but we do have PhDs from the Hard Knocks University. Basically, we want this to be a validating space for adult children of parents who had no business having children. Ken: Welcome to episode two of Neutral Disasters with Ken and my friend Lisa. Hey guys, Lisa: Episode 2 of Nurtural Disasters with Ken my friend Lisa. Hey guys, for our first episode we have like two listeners. Wow. It's like we begged our friends and family to... Ken: for our first episode, we have like two listeners. Oh, yeah. Yeah, we have two listeners. in our defense, we just uploaded last night our first episode. this is a yeah, you know, it's not like we begged our friends and Well, you told one person and then I told another person. our pretty much our capture rate is like two out of two. So that's pretty good. That's pretty good. So sorry. Lisa: Or capture rates, like two out of two. So that's pretty good. That's pretty good. Actually, I told three people, and I'm waiting for that third person. Well, hopefully, can you imagine, we'll just listen to this maybe like a year two down the road, and we'll have, what, hundreds, maybe thousands? Probably millions. right. We're not doing this for cloud money, or at least that's what we're going to hear later on. Ken: And I'm waiting for that third person. I'm hopefully like, can you imagine like, we'll just listen to this maybe like a year or two down the road and we'll have what, hundreds, maybe thousands. That's like a pripe dream. But, we're not doing this for cloud or money, or at least that's what we're going to hear later on and be like, oh yeah, that was us. We were, we were so humble. We were so humble before. What were you thinking? Humility's for losers. heard. Lisa: I'm here for that. Humility is for losers, I heard. So, Lisa, we're going to talk about an interesting topic today. Something just came up in the news and pretty much at the right time for us to look at. Ken: So Lisa, we're gonna talk about an interesting topic today. Something just came up in the news and at pretty much at the right time for us to look at. Lisa: Yeah, well, Ken: Yeah, Lisa: was kind of on the fence about talking about it because Ken: kind of on the fence about talking about it because it was kind of trendy. Lisa: it was kind of trendy. Ken: And what I mean is Lisa: What I mean is that, all of the online Ken: all of the online Lisa: mental health professionals and... Ken: health professionals and... Lisa: psychologists, Ken: Psychologists and life coaches are talking about Brooklyn Beckham Lisa: and life coaches are talking about Brooklyn Beckham Ken: the son of your favorite Spice Girl Lisa: the son of your favorite Spice Girl. Ken loves Posh Spice. She is. She was my favorite because Ken: Ken Ken loves pot spice. She is she was my favorite because when I was younger She was like the pretty one that was the cool one the quiet one like she didn't say a lot. So Lisa: I was younger she was like the pretty one. didn't say a lot so Ken: you just imagine Lisa: you just imagine Ken: her being kind of like Lisa: her being kind of like aloof about things like I'm just you know I have this persona I have to keep up and that's somehow very attractive. Really I like ginger spice she was my favorite spice girl. Ken: aloof about things, like I'm just, you know, I have this persona I have to keep up and that's somehow very attractive. I like Ginger Spice, she was my favorite Spice girl. I think a lot of people liked, They like baby spice? think people like baby spice, right? Lisa: They like Baby Spice? I think people like Baby Spice, right? Ken: Yeah. Lisa: I don't know. I think everybody picks their Spice, right? Ken: I don't know, I think everybody picks their spice, right? Like, Lisa: What an odd time we lived in back then. You like Spice Girls? Ken: What an odd time we lived in back then. Here, you like spice girls? I mean, I like some of their songs. Lisa: Yeah. I I liked some of their songs. And it's funny because, posh, her son, Brooklyn, Ken: And it's funny because, your posh person at Brooklyn, Lisa: as everybody knows, I'm sure. Ken: as everybody knows, I'm sure, he put this skating post on Instagram Lisa: he put this skating post on Instagram on his stories about everything that happened. He spilled the tea, it was piping hot, Ken: his stories everything that happened. He spilled the tea, it was piping hot, Lisa: some people were saying Ken: some people are Lisa: some of it was true, some of it was not. Ken: of it was true, some of it was Lisa: I mean, when we're there, that's his Ken: I mean, we weren't there. his version of Lisa: version of like what happened. Ken: what happened. his Lisa: mom ruined his wedding his mom was like, I guess ghetto booty dancing on him at the wedding and Ken: mom was his wedding, his mom was like, guess ghetto booty dancing on him at the wedding. So I don't think they've ever released a recording of that, right? You just have people's I guess anecdotal like examination of the events There was but we don't have any video or photos they were really good not to let that come out Lisa: was a photographer there but Ken: I heard they actually there was there's no photography or video allowed. I think they're confiscated. There's like cell phones or something like that. Like they weren't allowed to have that there. Lisa: I heard they actually, there's no photography video they're compensated. There's cell phones or something like that. That's what I heard too. That's smart. But at the same time, Ken: smart. But at the same time, Lisa: Two people are gonna have the different stories and you don't know, see one thing that I did notice about her, about your favorite Spice Girl. Yeah, I have to keep mentioning that she's your favorite. Well, years ago when I was reading about her, I instantly knew that she had an eating disorder. Ken: Two people are gonna have the different stories and you don't know, see one thing that I did notice about her, about your favorite Spice Girl. Yeah, just keep mentioning that now, right? Yeah, I keep mentioning that she's your favorite. Yeah, thank you for like 14 year old Ken that's like, oh yeah, pretty girl, oh yeah, favorite one. Well, years ago when I was reading about her, I instantly knew that she had an eating disorder. It was so obvious. when they had Lisa: It was so obvious. when they had Ken: There was an article about what she eats in a day. Lisa: there was an article about what she eats in a day. Ken: She does not deviate from her diet. Lisa: she does not deviate from her diet. It's Ken: It's very straight. Lisa: very strict. Ken: She only eats grilled fish and vegetables for dinner. And Lisa: she only eats grilled fish and vegetables for dinner. And Ken: she said every day, even if she goes out to a restaurant, she still has to eat that. it's interesting because there was a video of her on her birthday. Lisa: she said every day, even if she goes out to a restaurant, she still has to eat that. it's interesting because there was a video of her on her birthday. Ken: And instead of a cake, they had a watermelon, but it was Lisa: And instead of a cake, they had a watermelon, but it was to look like a cake. And I thought, dude, even on your birthday, Ken: to look like a cake. And I thought, dude, even on your birthday, you're still going to be so miserly. And I thought, Lisa: you're still going to be so miserly. I thought, Ken: Her kids must be so fucking miserable dealing with a mom like that because they have to cater to her eating disorder. Lisa: her kids must be so fucking miserable dealing with a mom like that because they have to cater to her eating disorder all the time. Well, I think have like a modern term for that, at least in the past couple of years. They call that like an almond mom. Ken: well, I think they, have like a modern term for that, at least in the past couple of years, they call that like an almond mom. Lisa: A lot of times it's a cover for eating disorders. Well, it's a personality-based eating disorder. You're literally thinking like a healthy sort of eating, but it's like it's an eating disorder, sort of. It kind of reminds me of like the orthorexia, if you're familiar with that. Not familiar with that. Ken: of times it's a cover for eating disorders. Well, it's a, it's a, it's a personality based eating disorder. you're. You're literally thinking it's like a healthy sort of eating, but it's like it's an eating disorder sort of. It kind of reminds me of like the orthorexia, if you're familiar with I am not familiar with that. Lisa: it's when Ken: it's when you... Lisa: you... Only eat healthy food. You don't eat any no junk nothing processed but you but it's such an extreme that it's an eating turns into an eating disorder and that's what I feel like for the most part it's that's her eating disorder and The only time like she goes wild is when she has a glass of wine or she Ken: only eat healthy food. You don't eat any junk, nothing processed, but it's such an extreme that it turns into an eating disorder. And that's what I feel like for the most part, that's her eating disorder. And the only time she goes wild is when she has a glass of wine or she drinks tequila. tequila part doesn't really surprise me because a lot of people who do keto, they actually can drink Lisa: drinks tequila the tequila part doesn't really surprise me because a lot of people who do keto they actually can tequila Ken: tequila because it's Lisa: it's Ken: Dagave is low on the glycemic index, so it doesn't spike your blood sugar. Lisa: of Gave's low on the glycemic index. So it doesn't spike your blood sugar. I don't know if you've known people who are keto Ken: know if you know people who are keto or low carb. Lisa: low carb. And I know because I used to be used to bartend. So a lot people are just like just tequila shots. And I'm I'm keto. I'm like, I could tell. Ken: I know because I used to bartend. A lot of people are just like, just tequila shots. I'm keto. I could tell. Lisa: Anyway, but when I was thinking, Ken: anyway. But what I was thinking, Lisa: it's very similar to like when a parent has an addiction because Ken: very similar to like when a parent has an addiction because Lisa: I'm not sure if you know people with eating disorders and how Ken: not sure if you know people with eating disorders and how Lisa: eating disorders are very consuming. Ken: disorders are very consuming. Lisa: I mean, they can be even debilitating. Ken: I mean, they can be even debilitating. the whole family has to Lisa: the whole family has Ken: revolve around Lisa: revolve around your Ken: your Lisa: issues. Ken: issues. Lisa: So the child's needs become secondary. And when I thought, oh, those kids, poor kids, must be, Ken: So the child's needs become secondary. And when I thought, those kids, those poor kids, must be, Lisa: get so fed up Ken: get so fed up Lisa: Yeah, it's just exhausting to be around people like that and having to deal with it. And so it doesn't surprise me that finally someone spoke up. But I think it probably took someone from the outside like him, like Brooklyn, Ken: Yeah, it's just exhausting to be around people like that and having to deal with it. And so it doesn't surprise me that finally someone spoke up. But I think it probably took someone from the outside like him with Brooklyn Lisa: for someone comes from the same background as Ken: someone comes from the same background as Lisa: Posh. Because the, what's her name? don't know. Okay. I Nicola, Nicola, Nicola. His wife? Yeah, his wife. Nicola. Yeah, she's- It a very interesting situation because I think- Ken: Posh. Because what's her name? know. I Nicola. Nicola. His wife? Yeah, wife. Yeah, Nicola. Yeah. Nicola. So yeah, so it's a very interesting situation because I didn't even know a lot about this. I forgot that because they have a lot of kids, David and Victoria, So I didn't know one of the kids was named Brooklyn. I was like, you named your son Brooklyn? I was thinking Brooklyn. Every Brooklyn that I've ever met is a girl. So this might be the first Brooklyn male that I've ever seen. So yeah, but he's he. Lisa: like, I forgot that because they have a lot of kids David and Victoria. So I didn't know one of the kids was named Brooklyn. I was like named your son ago Brooklyn Brooklyn that I've ever met is a girl. So this might be the first Brooklyn male seen so yeah but he's I don't think he particularly put his parents on blast publicly like he did post on social media very kind of cryptic stories right it was not cryptic he you well well it's like it came up well we want to say it's like it kind of came out of nowhere Ken: I don't think he particularly put his parents on blast publicly. Like he did post on social media very kind of cryptic stories, right? Well, well, it's like it came out. Well, we want to say it's like it kind of came out of nowhere, but it came from somewhere. So it's kind of like, yeah, we know something about a person, but they've never kind of like dropped us Lisa: but it came from somewhere. it's kind of like, yeah, we know something about a person, but they've never kind of like dropped this Ken: breadcrumbs out. Lisa: breadcrumbs out. Well, from my understanding was that what happened was Ken: from my understanding was that what happened was Lisa: A week before he Ken: week before he spilled the tea, people were noticing on social media that they had unfollowed each other. So that was kind of a hint. But I guess this has been happening for years. Usually something like this, it culminates after years of pent up. Lisa: spilled the people were noticing on social media that they had unfollowed each other. So that was kind of a hint. But I guess this has been happening for years. Usually something like this, it culminates after years of pent up resentment. Yeah, it's kind of like Ken: Yeah, it's kind of like limit, like you have like a threshold that you have and then there becomes a limit where it just kind of like it has like a breach. And then once that breach happens, it's you either leave or you throw like a kind of like a tantrum. And it's he kind of down his exit. He found a door and he was like, I'm just going to I'm just going to go. Lisa: like you have like a threshold that you have and then there becomes a limit where it just kind of like it has like a breach. Mm-hmm. Yeah, because they can't I feel like he can't be controlled with money like his other Ken: And that's usually how it is. Yeah, because they can't, I feel like he can't be controlled with money like his other siblings. It's an odd thing to be controlling your child with money. I have personal experience for that. my dad is definitely does not have even close to the same amount of money the Beckhams, but he still kind of uses money as leverage. he does things like I'm going to cut you out of a thing and it works. Lisa: siblings are My dad is definitely does not have even close to the same amount of the Beckham's, he still kind of uses money as leverage. he does things like I'm going to cut you out of the thing and it works for a little bit. It works when you're a child. That's like the most threatening thing you could have when you're growing up and your parents threaten you of like kicking you out of the house, cutting you out of the will you get old. Ken: for a little bit, it works when you're a young adult, a child, that's like the most threatening thing you could have because when you're growing up and your parents threaten you of like kicking you out of the house, cutting you out of the will when you get older, like you don't have a solid job. You may have just came out of high school or college and they tell you that. it's like a power dynamic. It's like, I have the money, I have everything. Lisa: Like you don't have a solid job. You may have just came out of high school or college and they tell you that. It's It's like a power dynamic. It's like I have the money. I have everything. If you do something that I don't like or you don't stand in line, I'll take it all away from That's pretty much, I'm pretty sure that's what happened here. The only problem is I think he probably has his own nest egg. here's the thing, the family he married into, Nicole's parents, like he's a billionaire, like the dad is a billionaire. it's a very, that leverage doesn't work anymore, that money leverage. she's kind of using, I'm gonna say, Ken: If you do something that I don't like or you don't stand in line, I'll take it all away from you. And that's pretty much, I'm pretty sure that's what happened here. The only problem is I think he probably has his own nest egg. And here's the thing, the family he married into, Nikola's parents, like he's a billionaire. Like the dad is a billionaire. So it's a very... What that leverage doesn't work anymore that money leverage so she's kind of using I'm assuming they're using a different type of leverage at this point because the money is not the thing that could like deter him from leaving Use as leverage for him to come back to the family, right? Lisa: assuming they're using a different type of at this point because the money is not the thing that could deter him from leaving or use it as leverage for him to come back to the family, right? Ken: Yeah, I totally agree with you, Ken, because Lisa: Yeah, I totally agree with you, Ken, because think financial abuse is the lesser known abuse Ken: think that financial abuse is the lesser known abuse Lisa: that people are aware of. Ken: people are aware of. Lisa: the fact that, like you were saying, Ken: The fact that, like you were saying, he married into Lisa: he married into billionaire family so he can tell them to go fuck themselves, Ken: billionaire family so he can tell them to go fuck themselves. Lisa: especially when, Ken: Especially when, Lisa: Victoria was probably like, no, imagine being in a restaurant with your mom. And it's like, I only eat vegetables. Was that a British accent? Oh, I only eat fish and vegetables. Wait, is that what you think of British accents? I I've been to London. I know that's how they talk. I find it so annoying that the British could just do an American accent without any issue. And we can't do a British accent without like. Ken: Victoria was probably like, no, imagine being in a restaurant with your mom and it's like, I only eat vegetables. was that a British accent? I only eat fish and vegetables. Wait, is that what you think a British accent sounds like? Yeah, London, I know. I find this so annoying that the British could... Just do like an American accent without any issue and we can't do like a British accent without like them laughing at us. Everybody has a Cockney accent. Lisa: But we just say hello good night in only fish fish in vegetables for dinner Everybody sounds like Well, the thing is, like even as a, let's say like, yeah, she's like favorite spice girl. Even back then she looked like she was very like Ken: Well, the thing is, even as a, let's say, oh yeah, she's my favorite Spice girl, even back then, she looked like she was very Lisa: difficult to deal with. A little high maintenance. think a lot of the, when they were finding- Her name is Bosch. When they were finding personas for each of the girls, they're like, what could this girl do close to their personality? Ken: to deal with. A bit. I think a lot of the, when they were finding- Famous Bosh. When they were personas for each of the girls, were what could this girl do close to their personality, probably, as close as we can? And then they just looked at her and be like, okay, you'll just be the quiet, cool one then. Lisa: Probably as close as we can and then they just looked at her be like, okay, you'll just be like the quiet cool one then maintenance Ken: Let's just get we can't do high maintenance spice. Let's just do posh I'm Lisa: She must be such a pain in the ass have as a mom I'm just wondering if listeners Ken: just wondering if listeners are they can relate even if they their parents didn't have an eating disorder What if they had a parent who was addicted and eat? Yeah a parent who's an addict the whole family the same thing has to cater to that Lisa: they can relate even if they their parents didn't have an eating disorder. What if they had a parent who was addicted? And a parent who's an addict, the whole family, the same thing. has to cater to that. The one asshole. Ken: the one asshole your Lisa: your Ken: parent comes home drunk, Lisa: parent comes home drunk, Ken: you have to walk on tiptoes, walk on eggshells, Lisa: you have to walk on tiptoes, walk on eggshells, Ken: not to upset daddy, or you have to be very quiet in the morning because Lisa: not to upset daddy, or you have to be very quiet in the morning because parent is hungover. Ken: hungover. So you have to be very careful. It's like your whole life, you... I wonder if it's the same dynamic with the Beckhams. And we don't know if there's other stuff going on. know with... Lisa: So you have to be very careful. It's like your whole life you... I wonder if it's the same dynamic with the Beckhams. And we don't know if there's other stuff going on. I know with Ken: David Beckham, he's been accused of Lisa: David Beckham, he's been accused of Ken: multiple affairs. Yeah, yeah. So much so I think one of the fair partners actually, you know, commented on that. I didn't read into it, but apparently like she commented. Yes, she did. I don't remember her name, but I was like, OK, she wanted to chime in and the situation. And I'm pretty sure she's not very pro Victoria at that point. Interesting story. Lisa: multiple affairs. Yeah, yeah. So much so I think one of the fair partners actually, you know, commented on that. I didn't read into it, but apparently... she did? I don't remember her name. was like, okay, she wanted to chime in on the situation. And I'm pretty sure she's not very pro-Victoria at that point. Interesting story. maybe a couple years. Ken: maybe a couple years after college, I was actually working in West LA a shoe store and I went to Chipotle and I was right behind David Beckham at a Chipotle. In Beverly Hills. No way. He had like a little posse and stuff like that, but I met David Beckham. Seems like a really cool guy. He wasn't mobbed. I was telling people in any other country, David Beckham's like, Lisa: After college, I was actually working in West LA at a shoe store and I went to Chipotle and I was right behind David Beckham at a Chipotle. In Beverly Hills. No way. a little posse and stuff like that, but I met David Beckham. He was like a really cool guy. He wasn't mobbed. I was telling people in any other country, David Beckham's like would be mobbed, but in LA he's just, some guy. He's like, give me my have a burrito, please. Ken: would be mobbed. But in LA he's just, some guy. I wanted to take a picture with him but I had like no, I was like well I'm not a girl and you know. David Beckham. No I think this was during the time he was playing for the LA Galaxy so he was just in town a lot because of that. But that's my experience with David Beckham so. Lisa: I wanted to take a picture with him but I had no... I like, well I'm not girl. I think this was during time he was playing for LA Galaxy so he was just in town a lot because of that. That's my experience with David Beckham. So I've never met him, but I think I would stare at him because I think he's very handsome. He's a very handsome man. Yes. he didn't play football, like he would just be a model. I think he's a model, right? Most of the time, like even outside of his endorsements. Yeah, endorsements. He just he just plays Ken: I've never met him but I think I would stare at him because I think he's very handsome. He's a very handsome man. is. if he didn't play football like he would just be a model. For sure. I think he's a model right? Most of the time like even outside of... His endorsements. Outside yeah, endorsements. Like he just plays soccer and you know he's just a good looking guy and you can market that. Yeah for sure that's probably part of his... Lisa: soccer and you know, he's just a good looking guy and you can market that. Yeah, for sure. That's probably part of his appeal too. what's the third? Cristianado Ronaldo? I don't follow soccer, but he's very handsome too. He is a very handsome man. it's easier to advertise an athlete when they're very good looking. Like it's just like, that just makes their job so even if they're shitty. Even if they're like a horrible athlete like Anna Kornikova or something. Ken: his appeal too. Like what's the third, Cristian, Ronaldo, don't follow soccer, but he's very handsome too. He is a very handsome man. So it's easier to advertise an athlete when they're very good looking. Like it's just like, it just makes their job so much easier at that point, right? Even if they're like a horrible athlete, like Anna Kornikova or something, they suck. Well, the thing is I want to stand up for Anna Kornikova because she might be considered Lisa: They suck. Well, the thing is, I want to stand up for Anna Kornikova because she might be considered not as good as other people. But remember, she's a world class athlete. she at a certain time in the world was probably like a top 20, 30 women player in the world. Ken: not as good as other people but remember she's a world-class athlete so she's she at a certain time in the world was probably like a top 20-30 woman player in the world we might not give attention to someone that's like ranked 30th or like even 15th but when you're attractive it helps but it she's definitely no slouch like if she plays like even like a top like club player that's an amateur she'll like destroy him like that's we don't understand that we use Lisa: We might not give attention to someone that's like ranked 30th or like even 15th, but when you're attractive, it helps. she's definitely no slouch. Like if she plays like even like a top like club player that's an amateur, she'll like, destroy Like that's we don't understand that. yeah. She would destroy me for sure. not a normal tennis player. Like she's a lead tennis player. It's just that she played in a time where what? Ken: Oh yeah, she would destroy me. She is not a normal tennis player, like she's an elite tennis player. It's just that she played a time where, what, a dozen women were better than her. And that's not something to be shamed, I think. it's Winter Olympics just started. I was thinking in my mind the slowest person or the person that comes in last place at an event... Lisa: a dozen people, women work better than her. And that's not something to be shamed. think currently it's a winter Olympics just started. I was thinking in my mind that the slowest person or the person that comes in last place at an event is the best person at that thing, that sport in their country. Think about that. Like that person that's let's say like snowboarding, they come in last, that person is the best snowboarder in their country. Ken: is the best person at that thing, that sport in their country. Think about that. Like that person that's, let's say like snowboarding, they come in last, that person is the best snowboarder in their country. don't view it as that, do we? We're just like, who gets the gold? Who gets the, some people are just like, it's just great being there because I'm the best at this in my country. I don't think we put that into perspective. So Anna Kylianikova, at a time she was a world-class athlete. Lisa: view it as that, do we? We're just like, who gets the gold? Who gets the... Some people are just like, it's just great being there because I'm the best at this in my country. I don't think we put that into perspective. So Anna Konova, at a time she was a world-class athlete. She was a very pretty world-class athlete. And that's why you marry a celebrity at that point. Ken: She was a very pretty world class athlete and that's why you marry a celebrity at that point. Lisa: Yeah, and then I mean I don't follow the Beckhams Ken: Yeah, and then, I mean, I don't follow the Beckhams. But I think there was a, that's right. So in response to that David, Lisa: But I think there was a That's right. So in response to that David Cutie right Ken: right? Lisa: I guess you posted a picture of all with him and his kids, except for Brooklyn. My kids make mistakes. Your kid's 27. Ken: He's supposed to have a picture of all his, with him and his kids, except for Brooklyn. My kids make mistakes. like, your kid's 27. Lisa: But it's just the fact that you left your kid out. It kind of says a Ken: But it's just the fact that you left your kid out, it kind of says a lot. Lisa: It's petty. And when I see a parent being petty towards their kid versus more trying to understand them, like if you're trying to put yourself in your child's shoes versus being defensive, it's like Ken: It's petty. And when I see a parent being petty towards their kid versus more trying to understand them, like if you're trying to put yourself in your child's shoes versus being like defensive, it's it's very telling. I think it's like a power dynamic too. the parents don't want to admit that they're wrong at that point. Lisa: It's very telling. I think it's like a power dynamic too. The parents don't want to admit that they're wrong. Ken: Plus they don't want this family's spat to be in the public. So it's very interesting what Brooklyn would, what's he gonna do next? Cause he's getting advice to just lay low and just let it be, don't be in the public. Oh, there was an article I read, I think it was yesterday. He had a tattoo of his dad and he was getting it removed. Wow. Lisa: Plus they don't want this family's kind of like spat to be like in the public. So it's very interesting what Brooklyn would, what's he gonna do next? Cause he's getting advice to just lay low and just let it be, don't be in the public. Oh, there was an article I read, I think it was yesterday. He had a tattoo of his dad and he was getting it removed. Wow. Yeah. Ken: Yeah, so on my point, it's like there's people telling him to just lay low and stay quiet, stay out of the press. There's nothing positive you could do like coming out in public about this. This is as public as you should go. his father-in-law actually told him that and he's a billionaire and he's like, you maybe should just let it be. Don't draw any more attention to it. It can't improve the situation. Lisa: Yeah, so on my point, it's like there's people telling him to just lay low and stay quiet, stay out of the press. There's nothing positive you could do like coming out in public about this. This is as public as you should go. father-in-law actually told him that and he's a billionaire and he's like, maybe you should just let it be. Don't draw any more attention to it. It can't improve the situation. Ken: I think he got like advice from Lisa: I think he got advice Meghan she had her own situation with the royal family. And I think she even told them, hey, you should go onto like a talk show like Oprah and just do a tell-all like I So that's two very different things. You go on, Oprah still has a lot of cotton. You go on a show and you're airing out your dirty laundry. I don't even know what's the correct thing to do at this point. Ken: Meghan Markle, she had her own situation with the royal family. And I think she even told them, hey, you should go onto like a talk show like Oprah and just do a tell-all like I did. So that's two very different things. You go on, Oprah still has a lot of clout. You go on a show and you're airing out your dirty laundry. I don't even know what's the correct thing to do at this point. You are so right because there were people, they're so mean to me. Lisa: You are so right because there were people, they're so mean to Meghan Markle. I don't really know a lot about her, to be honest. they're they talk about she's a gold digger. She's manipulative. She manipulated Ken: be honest so they talk about she's a gold digger she's manipulative she manipulated Lisa: Prince Harry. Ken: prince Harry She isolated him from his family so she can manipulate him more and I have no idea about that. I really don't give a shit about the royal family. yeah, you bring up a good point because if you see that there might be the royal family So they have I think they have maybe like some something up there. They were keysters. But yeah, it's you bring up a point that Lisa: She isolated him from his family so she was, she can manipulate him more. And I have no idea. About that. I I really don't give a shit about the royal family Well, yeah, you bring up a good point because if you see that there might be the royal family So they have I think they have maybe like some something up there. They're teasters. But yeah, it's you you bring up a point that makes you think about Ken: makes you think about What they call it it's a it's it's kind of like they put Lisa: What do they call it? It's kind of like they put a scapegoat right there, right? They talk about it in narcissistic relationships. They'll have a scapegoat. Especially if it's like a partner, like a parent, and they don't like the partner. They'll just say the partner manipulated their child to not obey the parents. And they're saying the same thing about Nikola as well. Yes, they're pretty much putting her as a scapegoat. Ken: A scapegoat right there, right? They talk about it in narcissistic relationships. They'll have a scapegoat. Especially if it's like a partner, like a parent, and they don't like the partner. They'll just say the partner manipulated their child to not obey the parents. And they're saying the same thing about Nicola as well. Yes, they're pretty much putting her as a scapegoat. I think Meghan Markle was in that situation. They scapegoated her. Lisa: I think Meghan Markle was in that situation. They scapegoated her. But the media was so... Ken: But the media was so... Lisa: They were so rude to her. Ken: were so rude to her. Lisa: Well, they viewed her probably as a commoner. Ken: they viewed her probably as a commoner. Lisa: I think they still had the old expectations of... A colored commoner at that. She's a very pretty lady in my opinion. I think she's beautiful. I used to watch Suits. Ken: I think they still had the old expectations of... A colored commoner at that? She's a very pretty lady, in my opinion. I she's beautiful. I used to watch Suits. Lisa: She played the paralegal and I thought she was really pretty. Ken: she played the paralegal and I thought she was really pretty. But I can see the royal family just being like, bloodline is so pure. Would you not want to taint our bloodline? some, you know. Well, thing is, Lisa: But I could see the royal family just being like, our bloodline is so pure. We do not want to taint our bloodline or some, you know. Well, thing is, Ken: you ever live with a parent that's like that, like my dad tries to, you know, blame my fiance for how I am acting, but that's just scapegoating her. it's a common tactic with narcissistic parents, right? Lisa: if you ever live with a parent that's like that, like my dad tries to, you know, blame my fiance for how I am acting, but... That's just scapegoating her. it's a common tactic with narcissistic parents, right? And your, I would say your fiance for the record is the sweetest person I've ever met. I love her so much. She's so nice, so sweet. And she always tries to give people the benefit of the doubt, even if they don't deserve it. She, I tell her not to sometimes. Just let it brought- Ken: I will say your fiance for the record is the sweetest person I've ever met. I love her to death. She's nice, so sweet. And she always tries to give people the benefit of the doubt even if they don't deserve it. She, I tell her not to sometimes. Just let it I brought, the one thing I knew about her is Lisa: The one thing I knew about her is that she might have moments where she's very sassy, but I know it's like from her personality really is that she wants everybody to just like be okay with her. Like she gets worried when people don't like her and you say something mean to her. She takes that to heart. And I think that anybody that has Ken: she might have moments where she's very sassy. But I know it's like from, her personality really is that. She wants everybody to just like be okay with her. Like she gets worried when people don't like her or they say something mean to her and she takes that to heart. And I think that anybody that has that kind of outlook on life and just how they just want to be like accepted. Like you don't have to love her, but you just don't be mean to her. She worries so much about that. I feel like a person like that I don't think could really be super malicious. Lisa: that kind of outlook on life and just how... They just want to be accepted. You don't have to love her, but you just don't be mean to her. She worries so much about that. feel like a person like that, I don't think could really be super malicious. She's not malicious at all. worries about how other people are. I think there's like a... And it's not like something that's like a... Ken: She's not malicious. Yeah, because she worries about how other people are. I think there's like a... And it's not like something that's like Like she's faking it. There is like... She does empathetic qualities, like an empath. Lisa: like she's faking it, there is like, she does have empathetic qualities, like an empath. Ken: she sees Lisa: And she sees if someone may be in suffering or something like that. she, not only that, and she sees this in animals too. So we picked up like our stray cat, like she was so sad that the owners didn't want the stray cat back. Like she cried for her cat. Yeah. Ken: someone may be in suffering or something like that. she... Not only that, she sees this in animals too. So we picked up like our stray cat, like she was, she was so sad that the owners didn't want the stray cat back. Like she cried for the cat. Lisa: She has a really big heart and I hate it people pick on people like that. Well that's the thing, my guy kind of picks on her because there's a situation, I don't want to talk about how the situation happened right now, but when I... Ken: She has a really big heart and I hate it people take on people like that. Well that's the thing, my dad kind of picks on her because a situation, I don't want to talk about how the situation happened right now but when I went to therapy and I told him about that and I worked through one or two years of just, if I only had stepped in right here and tried to de-escalate the situation, like a kind of like a mini fight between my dad and my fiance. Lisa: Mm-hmm. Ken: Like that would have fixed everything. But then as therapy went on, I realized it's just a moving go post. my dad would have found something else that he didn't like about her. to any ex-girlfriends or anybody else that I've dated that have met my dad, met my parents. I deeply apologize for his behavior because he literally Lisa: ex-girlfriends or anybody else that I've dated that have met my dad, met my parents, deeply apologize for his behavior because he literally has not ever said anything nice about anybody I've dated. So when you see a pattern like could say like maybe, oh yeah, maybe you just picked the wrong people to Ken: has not ever said anything nice about anybody I've dated. So when you see a pattern like that. You could say like maybe, yeah, maybe you just picked the wrong people to bring home. No, they could be as different as... Lisa: No, they could be as different as... I like made a list of it, Ken: like made a list of it, This person, this person, this person. And I asked my cousin who was like a objec- who's like a good objective observer from outside. It was like, could all of these people be bad to my dad? And then he told me, was like, well, he's bad because... Lisa: this person, this person, this person. And I asked my cousin who was like a good objective observer from outside. was like, could all of these people be bad to my dad? And then he told me, was like, well, he's bad because Ken: he thinks everybody's bad for you. So that's just how he is. And if you view it in that way, it's like, okay, so I know I heard about boy moms where I think Victoria Beckham might be a boy mom, where nobody's good enough for my son. The only person that's good enough for my son is me, the mom. Lisa: He thinks everybody's bad for you, so that's just how he is. And you view it in that way, it's like, okay, so I know I heard about boy moms where I think Victoria Beckham might be a boy mom, where... Nobody's good enough for my son. The only person that's good enough for my son is me. The mom. Victoria Beckham is a narcissist like some online people say... a narcissist, she is a boy mom. There has some narcissistic tendencies maybe. Like just delusions of ranger in her head. But I don't know if you've noticed narcissistic moms, have weird relationships with their sons. Ken: If Victoria Beckham is a narcissist like some online people say if not a narcissist She is a boy mom there has some Narcissistic tendencies maybe like just delusions of grandeur in her head Yes Relationships with her with her sons. It's like almost like they call it emotional incest and But the boy mom thing it's so fucking creepy Lisa: It's like almost like they call it emotional incest. And with the boy mom thing, it's so fucking creepy. And I have a family member. Ken: And I have a family member. Lisa: mom is Ken: mom is a full-blown narcissist. She's like, what would you say, low-grade narcissist? Lisa: full blown narcissist. She's like, what would you say, low grade narcissist. And she has Ken: And she has couple kids. Her eldest son, she has a weird relationship with him. Lisa: couple kids. Her eldest son, she has a weird relationship with him. Ken: When you say boy mom, Lisa: When you say boy mom, and she'll even post on social media, I'm a boy mom. Ken: she'll even post on social media, I'm a boy mom. And... Lisa: And Ken: I remember when her son was like six months. She was like, Lisa: remember when her son was like six months, she was like, Ken: you know when he goes pee his penis gets really big. I'm like, what? And then she'll say, she would say, when he kisses me on the lips, I just melt. Lisa: you know, when he goes pee, his penis gets really big. I'm like, what? And then she would say, when he kisses me on the lips, I just melt. Ken: You're talking about a baby, what the fuck? just thought it was so creepy. Lisa: You're talking about a baby. What the fuck? I just thought it was so creepy. Ken: And there's a weird enmeshment with her Lisa: there's a weird enmeshment with her Ken: son. Lisa: son. Yeah, and then when she was pregnant with the second one rather than she the way she talked about like I'm like did you name him so-and-so? no, we decided to name him though. I'm like you and the baby daddy No, me and my son her eldest son. I'm like as if he were the surrogate Ken: Yeah, and then when she was pregnant with the second one, rather than the way she talked about it, I'm like, did you name him so-and-so? no, we decided to name him the, you and the baby daddy? No, me and my her eldest son. like, as if he were the surrogate. spouse you know what i mean i don't know if victoria's relationship is like that with Lisa: Spouse, you know what I mean? And I don't know if Victoria's relationship is like that with Brooklyn. Brooklyn seems to be probably more of the, maybe the scapegoat. Or if he was the, her golden child, she's gonna hate all of his Ken: I would Lisa: significant others, regardless if, Ken: have thought that based on how they treated Nicola that she was like a peasant. Nope. Family of a billionaire. Lisa: daughter of a billionaire or daughter of a garbage man. she's gonna find something. I would have thought that based on how they treated Nicola that she was like a peasant. Nope. Family of a billionaire doesn't have Ken: doesn't have Lisa: any kind of like Ken: any kind of like terrible things she's did in the, that is known in the media. So Lisa: terrible things she did in them that is known in the media. So Ken: I don't know what it could be, but we all kind of know why. Boy, mom, nobody's good enough for your son. If she could marry her son, maybe that's it. yeah. That's why you call it emotional incest. I think, that's what we're thinking. That's probably. Lisa: I don't know. what it could be, but we all kind of know why. Boy mom, nobody's good enough for your son. If she could marry her son, maybe that's it. yeah, that's why we call it emotional incest, I think. That's what we're thinking that's probably what's happening. and I could see Victoria thinking of Nikola as a threat because Ken: That's probably what's happening. and I can see Victoria thinking of Nikola as a threat because Lisa: they can't guilt him with money anymore. They can't financially abuse him. Ken: can't guilt him with money anymore. They can't financially abuse him they do with the other kids. Lisa: they do with the other kids. Ken: Yeah, Lisa: It's like, were they gonna do? Bribe him with money? I don't think it worked, right? Even because I think Brooklyn has probably his own money a little bit. know he mentioned, was it maybe the Beckham brand? They wanted him to sign When he turned 18, that's right. I'm like, what is this Beckham brand that they're talking about? Ken: it's like, it's like, yeah, what were they going to do? Bribe him with money? I don't think it worked, right? Even because I think Brooklyn has like probably his own money a little bit. I know he mentioned was it maybe the Beckham Brand? They wanted him to sign on the dotted line. I'm like, what is this Beckham brand that they're talking about that that they needed him to sign on the dotted line. I'm like, this is like signing his like rights, his likeness over anything he's do does with Beckham name or something like that or who knows? Lisa: needed him to sign on the dotted line. is like signing his like rights his likeness over anything he's do it does with Beckham name or something like that or who knows he's i think he's famous enough where he can license out his name and image you know for different products well at least the Beckham name is like right people if you say Beckham you immediately think David and Victoria it's just but but then he refused to sign it right i think that's what he said i think i i'm not sure if he said it but Ken: I think he's famous enough where can license out his name and image for different products. Well, at least just the Beckham name. The Beckham name is like, people, you say Beckham, you immediately think David and Victoria. It's just entrenched in But then he refused to sign it, right? I think that's what he said. I think he, I'm not sure if he said it, but said they, it was kind of like a force. They were like, come on, sign it, come on, sign it, quick, quick. Oh, that's under duress. It sounds like under duress to me, but. Lisa: He said it was kind of like a force. They were like, come on, sign it, come on, sign it. that's under duress. It sounds like under duress to me, but. Yeah, so it makes me, boggles me. Maybe in a couple of months we'll find out more about that. he, Ken: Yeah, so it makes me, it boggles my mind. Maybe in a couple of months we'll find out more about that. it seemed like, yeah, he did pretty much air out his dirty laundry on like Instagram pretty much. So, Lisa: it seemed like, yeah, he did pretty much air out his dirty laundry on like Instagram pretty much. So, it kind of gets. Ken: It kind of gives, Lisa: What do you say, like, gives more clarity to why they had a falling out? Yes. Because they did have a falling out. It sounds like a financial abuse situation because they're so concerned Ken: what do you say, like gives more clarity to why they had a falling out? Because they did have a falling out. sounds like a financial abuse situation because they're so concerned with Lisa: with money. Ken: money. Lisa: It's funny, I was, there's a therapist online, her name is Whitney Goodman. I read her book, Toxic Positivity, Ken: There's a therapist online, her name is Whitney Goodman. I read her book, Toxic Positivity, a few years ago. Lisa: a few years ago. And she said something very good. It just came out and it was so, basically about financial abuse, she said, Ken: And she said something very good. It just came out and it was so... basically about financial abuse. said, was never unconditional. was always a transaction. And I was like, oh, right. The whole... it was transaction. Lisa: the relationship was never unconditional it was it was always a transaction and I was like, right the whole it was transaction and Brooklyn said they were so focused on appearances But that's that's a very narcissistic family thing. Well, thing is they're selling image, right? So they don't want any kind of image They don't want their image to be altered in a certain way and how Ken: Brooklyn said they were so focused on appearances. But that's a very narcissistic family thing. the thing is, they're selling an image, So they don't want any kind of image. They don't want their image to be altered in a certain way and how they're viewed a certain way. Lisa: a certain way. Ken: So if he does choose to talk, that could torpedo how they look like in the public, especially in British media and stuff like that. Yeah, mean, Harry wrote that book, Spare. Lisa: So if he does choose to talk, that could torpedo how they look like in the public, especially in British media and stuff like that. Oh yeah, could be, yeah, mean Harry wrote that book, Spare, that actually your fiance was telling me about. I haven't gotten, I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet, Ken: Actually, your fiance was telling me about. I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet, Lisa: Brooklyn could probably Ken: Brooklyn could probably Lisa: write a book, know, oh, spill all the tea. Oh. Ken: write a book and it's got all the T. Oh. Yeah. Yeah, that would be very interesting. I'd read that. But I always I always want to bring up that point where they would scapegoat like the spouse, right? That of your child. That's apparently. Lisa: Yeah, that would be very interesting. I'd read that. I always want to bring up that point where they would scapegoat like the spouse, right? That of your child, that's apparently the spouse is influencing the child's like combativeness or willingness to fight back blame them. It's like you brainwash my daughter or my Ken: the spouse is influencing the child's combativeness or willingness to fight back and blame them. It's like you brainwashed my daughter or my son. that is total BS because Lisa: it's told. BS because Ken: that person probably just gave your daughter or son Lisa: that person probably just gave your daughter or son Ken: clarity and courage to stand up for themselves. Lisa: clarity and courage to stand up for themselves because this doesn't happen out of nothing. This is probably through many, many years of Ken: because this doesn't happen out of nothing. This is probably through many, many years of ill treatment, Lisa: ill treatment, Ken: just weird kind of like parenting and stuff like that, emotional abuse. It doesn't happen just for overnight. Your kid isn't, it's very unlikely that Lisa: just weird kind of like parenting and stuff like that. emotional abuse. It doesn't happen just overnight. Your kid isn't... it's very unlikely that they didn't just... Ken: they didn't just, one day just met a girl and the girl was just like, you know what, I'm gonna turn against them because I love my wife. Lisa: one day just met a girl and the girl is just like, you know what? I'm gonna turn against them because I love my... Ken: No, you probably did something to the kid where it's just like, oh yeah, I have a support group now. I'm not afraid to tell you what a piece of shit you are, Lisa: No, you probably did something to the kid where it was just like, oh yeah, I have a support group now. I'm not afraid to tell you what a piece of shit your mom. I don't know. Ken: dad. It gives them courage. It really does. It's like Lisa: It gives them courage. It really does. It's when you have someone else and they love you unconditionally, Ken: you have someone else and they love you unconditionally, Lisa: you gain that courage Ken: gain that courage talk back against your oppressors. And when you get older, it's like it makes it... Lisa: to talk back against your oppressors. And when you get older, it's like it makes it it doesn't make it any easier when you get older either. But you always know your parents are like your parents. And then there will be people around. They'll tell you, hey, Ken: It doesn't make it any easier when you get older either. Like you always know your parents are like your parents and then there will be people around. They'll tell you, Hey, be nicer to Lisa: Be nicer to Ken: David and Victoria. Lisa: David and Victoria. Be grateful because they pretty gave you like an empire to feed upon. Ken: Be grateful because they pretty much gave you like an empire to feed upon for the rest of your life. Right? were talking about last time. Lisa: We were talking about last time. Ken: I'm surprised you didn't bring it up about Lisa: I'm surprised you didn't bring it up about Ken: being a nipple baby. Lisa: him being a nipple baby. Oh yeah. The nipple big, right? Ken: yeah, the Nepal baby right? Lisa: always going to be invalidating his experience because he went to the fanciest private schools and had the best of everything. But the thing about him is that he's not educated. He never went to college, as far as I know. He's never really had a real job. He's basically just lived off his can see how that situation gets more complicated. Yeah, because he is pretty much being funded by what? and dad. Well, probably now his wife. Ken: Yeah, because he is pretty much being funded by what? Mom and dad? Lisa: I think it was a rumor. said that Nicholas's father gave her a million dollars a month an allowance. You're laughing. And I thought, OK, even if it's not true. That's still enough money for people for them to live comfortably. don't know her very well. Does she work? She's a model? she a model? Okay, the way I said it. I know a lot of people from wealth that just become models, right? It's like, well, you're pretty and your parents have money, so might as well become a model. Ken: I don't know her very well. Does she work? I know a lot of people from Wealth that just become models, right? It's like, well, you're pretty and your parents have money, so might as well become a Gives you something to write on the resume. Lisa: something to write on the resume. What are you talking about? Normal people need resumes. Ken: What were you talking about? normal people need Lisa: They don't need a resume. The wealthy do not need resumes. No. They just need like, hey, hire my daughter. Ken: The wealthy do not need resumes. They just need like, hey, hire my daughter. Lisa: Not to change the subject, well, something kind of related is that I've Ken: That's a change of subject. something kind of related is that I at country clubs And these are exclusive country clubs. Lisa: clubs in LA. and these are exclusive country clubs. remember seeing a lot A-list celebrities who go there. Ken: remember seeing a lot A-list celebrities who go there. And one thing I did notice Lisa: And one thing I did notice the country club members is how much Ken: the country club members is how much give their children Lisa: give their children Ken: It's like, oh, your kid needs a job? Oh, I own a da-da-da-da-da this company this. Why don't they just come work for me? And da-da-da-da-da. They just give each other jobs. No resume, Lisa: It's like, oh, your kid needs a job. Oh, I have a, I own a, company, this. Why don't they just come work for me? And da, da, da, da. They just give each other jobs. No resume, experience, nothing. it makes you realize you're missing out on a lot of Ken: experience, nothing. makes you realize you're missing out on a lot of Lisa: opportunities Ken: opportunities Lisa: I guess it ties into the concept of financial abuse. It's on a different level versus, Ken: I guess it ties into the concept of financial abuse. It's on a different level versus... Lisa: rich people are more susceptible to financial abuse. Ken: rich people are more susceptible to financial abuse. the carrot is always being dangled in front of them, people like us who just come from Lisa: the carrot is always being dangled in front of him. people like us who just come from Ken: lower class families, parents are like, well, I'm taking you off the wheel. Like, you don't have anything, so fuck you. Well, the thing is you say that, but it's like, that's why I bring up the... Until you become an adult, that financial abuse... Lisa: lower class families, the parents are like, well, I'm taking you off the will. Like, you don't have anything, so fuck you. just Well, the thing is, you say that, but it's like, that's why I bring up the... until you become an adult that financial abuse until you're self-sufficient let's say that that financial abuse doesn't matter if you're super rich super wealthy or just someone in no cost it i told you right like my my dad me all the time probably from when i hit 18 all the way to now and um Ken: until you're self-sufficient, let's say that that financial abuse doesn't matter if you're super rich, super wealthy or just someone in the middle class. Like it works. I told you right. Like my dad me all the time, probably from when I hit 18 all the way to now. And one story that happened was that this was crazy. Lisa: One story that happened was that this was crazy. I told you this story. exactly 10 years ago. Ken: I told you this story. exactly 10 years ago. left my job Lisa: left my job Ken: decided to go to grad school in Japan, Tokyo, Japan. Lisa: decided to go to grad school in Japan, Tokyo, Japan. Ken: And that's like, I just decided that's what I'm gonna do. My Lisa: And that's like, I just decided that's what I'm gonna do. My career isn't going anywhere. I have to change something with my life or at least attempt it, right? Or I'll regret it. Ken: career isn't going anywhere. I have to change something with my life or at least attempt it, right? Or I'll regret it. I told my dad that. Lisa: I told my dad that. And he threatened to disown me. Like you're out of the family. You get nothing out of this. Nothing. So he told me this probably like two months before I was going to embark not move. Right. was in a scramble to try to find like storage, like storage lockers, like, uh, for my stuff, because I couldn't take it all with me. It was impossible because I'm thinking it's like, Oh yeah, he's going to cut me out. Ken: And he threatened to disown me. Like you're out of the family, you get nothing out of this, nothing. So he told me this probably like two months before I was going to embark and move, right? I was in a scramble to try to find like storage lockers for my stuff because I couldn't take it all with me. That's impossible. Because I'm thinking it's like, yeah, he's going to cut me out. call this bluff. I'm like, I'm going to do this anyway. I don't care what you say. Lisa: call this bluff, I'm like, I'm gonna do this anyway, I don't care what you say. Ken: Two weeks before I was about to leave, he backs off and he just totally backtracks. he tacos and he like backtracks. Lisa: Two weeks before I was about to leave. He backs off and he just totally backtracks. tacos and he like backtracks. by the way, I just turned 30 at that time. At that point I knew, you can't threaten me. I'm an adult. It doesn't work on me. Ken: by the way, I just turned 30 at that time. At that point I knew you can't threaten me. I'm an adult. It doesn't work on me. have some money, I was like, if I sleep on the streets, I'm totally fine with it. You can't threaten me with that. for him, Lisa: I have so many, was like, if I sleep on the streets, I'm totally fine with it. You can't threaten me with that. And for him, that's how you knew like he had no control over me at that point. Like I just, I just broke control. So once, once you break control of that and they can manipulate you, he'll find, they'll still try to find other ways. They'll try to guilt you into something. Like my dad will. Ken: that's how he knew like he had no control over me at that point. Like I just broke control. So once you break control of that and they can't manipulate you, they'll still try to find other ways. They'll try to guilt you into something. my dad will, Lisa: Now he's like, so you don't need the money. You don't need the house. I know you love your mom. Ken: now he's like, oh, so you don't need the money. You don't need the house. But I know you love your mom. Lisa: So she he dangles that. So it's like he's like, I know you care about your sister. You want to come back to see her. You don't want to just disown the family, right? Like once me and mom are gone, your sister is who's going to look after your sister. And he like, he knows it's like, OK, I don't have a good relationship with my sister Ken: So he dangles that in front of me. it's like, he's like, I know you care about your sister. You're going to want to come back to see her. You don't want to just disown the family, right? Like once me and mom are gone, your sister is who's going to look after your sister. And he like, he knows, was like, okay, I don't have a good relationship with my sister Lisa: right now. But before I did, I still care about my sister. So Ken: now. But before I did, I still care about my sister. So eventually it just, it moves to goalposts. So it's like that, financial manipulation. Lisa: Eventually it moves to goalposts so it's like that financial manipulation wants to get the financial aspect off of it, it's gonna be something else. Ken: wants to get the financial aspect off of it, it's gonna be something else. Lisa: Like they have no control over Brooklyn right? He literally is married to a billionaire's daughter. That's why it was probably easy for him to just tell the family to fuck off. Versus the other kids I think they might be younger. I think they're younger. Than him. Ken: they have no control over Brooklyn, right? He literally is married to a billionaire's daughter. Mm-hmm. That's why it was probably easy for him to just tell the family to fuck off. Yeah. Versus the other kids, I think there might be younger. I think they're younger. think, how many kids were there? I think four or five. Lisa: I think, four or in addition to Brooklyn? I didn't look into it, but they have a lot of kids. They have a lot of And I looked at their family pictures like, how come they all don't look alike? Which really, I don't want to bring up like conspiracy theories. was like, hmm, are they all like the same dad? They all look kind of different. Ken: in addition to Brooklyn, I didn't look into it, but they have a lot of kids. They have a lot of kids. And I looked at their family pictures like, how come they all don't look alike? Which really, I don't want to bring up like conspiracy theories. was like, hmm, are they all like the same dad? I'm like, they all look kind of different. Yeah, it's funny you're talking about your situation and... Lisa: Yeah, it's funny you're talking about your situation in Japan. Because before I went no contact with my mom. Ken: Because before I went no contact with my mom, to have Invisalign. Lisa: to have Invisalign. Ken: I had braces when I was a teenager, I guess it caused a lot separation between my molars, Lisa: I had braces when I was a teenager, but I guess it caused a lot of separation between my molars, right? Ken: So I needed to those molars closed up because I was constantly getting food stuck in it. But, and then when I went to see the orthodontist, they were like, oh yeah, just, I'll need this line for six months and it would be around $2,2,500. I figured, okay. And then when I told my mom, she's Lisa: I needed to have those molars closed up because I was constantly getting food stuck in it. But, and then when I went to see the orthodontist, they're like, oh yeah, just, all you need is an Invisalign for six months and it would be around $2,000, $2,500. I figured, okay. And then when I told my mom, she's Ken: insisted on Lisa: insisted on getting it for me and paying it for me. And I thought, oh, okay, fine. I mean, I could always do installments. It's Ken: getting it for me and paying it for me. And I thought, oh, okay, fine. I mean, I could always do installments. Lisa: no big Ken: no big deal. and But she was so insistent and then eventually we had a fallout I went no contact and after I went no contact she used that the fact that she paid for my Invisalign Lisa: And but she was she was so insistent and then eventually we had a fallout. I went no contact. And after I went no contact, she used that. The fact that she paid for my Invisalign Ken: To say I paid $2,000 $3,000 for her braces and then she cuts me off. Okay, she made herself to be like such a victim Lisa: say, I paid two thousand dollars, three thousand dollars for her braces and then she cuts me off. She made herself to be out like such a victim because of it. And she used that as a way to make me look bad. Ken: of it and she used that as a way to make me look bad. And I thought, that was so emotionally and financially exploitative Lisa: And I thought, that was so emotionally and financially exploitative her to do that. Ken: her to do that. I heard through the grapevine, obviously, people would tell me, my family, she's saying this about you. She makes herself out to be such a victim. And eventually, after hearing that for months, I got so pissed that I was talking to a family member of mine who I just talked about earlier, the one who's kind of emotionally incestuous with her son. I told her, Lisa: And I heard through the grapevine, obviously, people would tell me, my family, she's saying this about you. She makes herself out to be such a victim. And eventually, after hearing that for months, I got so pissed that I was talking to family member of mine who I just talked about earlier, the one who's kind of emotionally incestuous with her son. I told her, Ken: you know, Lisa: you know, Ken: in certain things, you know what she says about you, Lisa: insert name. You know what she says about you, right? And she goes, what? I'm like, she said this and this and this about you. And she goes, really? I'm like, yeah. And I don't even want to say it because it's bad. You know, basically alluding to her being, Ken: And she goes, what? I'm like, she said this and this and this about you. And she goes, really? I'm like, yeah, and I don't even want to say it because it's bad. You know, basically alluding to her being Lisa: a slut, basically. Yeah. So anyway, I told her and, but amongst other things, she goes, I have a bone to pick. And I'm like, okay. Cause I was pissed at that time. Ken: slut, basically. Yeah. So anyway, I told her and amongst other things, she goes, I have a bone to pick. And I'm like, okay, because I was pissed at that time. Cut to... Lisa: cut to sometime later, I talked to Ken: Sometime later, I talked my family member, and she goes, oh, I confronted your mom about what she said. You know what your mom said? I'm like, what? She said, that you're a miserable person. I'm like, oh, that I'm a miserable person because I said what she had said about you, Lisa: my family member, and she goes, I confronted your mom about what she said. You know what your mom said? I'm like, what? She's like, that you're a miserable person. I'm like, that I'm a miserable person because I said what she had said about you. Ken: she had an audience. She didn't just tell me. She told a lot of other family members that. So I have witnesses. But the fact that rather than say, oh, I fess up, Lisa: And she had an audience. She didn't just tell me. She told a lot of other family members that. So I have witnesses. But the fact that rather than say, I, you know, fess up, I said this about you. No, she Ken: said this about you. No. She doubled down and said that I'm a miserable person. So Lisa: doubled down and said that I'm a miserable person. So Ken: it's kind of it goes along with the Beckham's, know, Brooklyn's parents, Lisa: it's kind of it goes along with the Beckham's, you know, Brooklyn's parents they double down and say my child is wrong Ken: they double down and say my child is wrong Lisa: I don't know. What do you think Ken? Ken: I don't know, what are you thinking? Lisa: anybody that's gonna confirm their beliefs that they're the right ones in their parenting, they're not gonna snap out of it. Like even if someone tells them they're... really screwing up. don't think it's gonna manipulate their situation at the moment. I'm just thinking Ken: People that have similar personalities probably... Lisa: people that have similar personalities probably get together right? David seems overall in a persona kind of like a nice guy but then we're all thinking why is he going along with us? Ken: get together, right? David seems overall in a persona, kind of like a nice guy. But then we're all thinking, why is he going along with the deal? I really don't know. I don't think they've said a lot about how David views this other than the fact that David kind of not talking to his son, kind of avoiding his son. Lisa: What's the deal? I really don't know. I don't think they've said a lot about how David views this other than the fact that kind not talking to his son, kind of avoiding his son, not really giving out any kind of like nuggets in public and in media. So. Ken: not really giving up any kind of like nuggets in the public and the media. So. Lisa: There's actually this one lady on Instagram, I think one or more of her children are estranged from her. Ken: There's actually this one lady on Instagram, I think I want her more if her children are estranged from Lisa: And she says, through counseling, she said Ken: And she says through counseling, she said realized that she was an emotionally abusive parent. And she's like, oh, I don't believe my kids it. It's changing themselves for me. I was so toxic. Lisa: realized that she was an emotionally abusive parent. And she's like, I don't blame my kids for. estranging themselves from me. I was so toxic and she has this whole blog saying I'm giving them space Ken: and she has this whole blog thing. I'm giving them space while they figure things out. And if they want to come back, let them come back and I will be here and my door is always open for them. And Lisa: while they figure things out and if they want to come back let them come back and I will be here and my door is always open for them and I've Ken: changed and I've been going through therapy and changing my ways. And she gives them the space and she, Lisa: changed and I've been going through therapy and changing my ways and she gives them the space and she Ken: you know, she does not Lisa: you know she does not diminish Ken: diminish their experience with her. The fact that she validates them. It's very, actually very, she's built up a lot of emotional maturity. And I was reading the comments and people saying, I wish my parents had half of this Lisa: their experience with her. The fact that she validates them, it's very, actually very, she's built up a lot of emotional maturity. And I was reading the comments and people saying, I wish my parents had half of this Ken: self-awareness. Lisa: self-awareness. I would reach out to them. Honestly, the thing about the parent, right? It's very, in my opinion, very hard to admit that you screwed up. Ken: I would reach out to them. Honestly, the thing about the parent, right? It's very, in my opinion, very hard to admit that you screwed up. That's admitting that you messed up your kid and stuff like that. Lisa: That's admitting that you messed up your kid and stuff like that. Especially the boomer generation. That's the ego will not allow them to see that they do anything wrong. And I'm not trying to boomer bash, but I see that a lot in that generation. And so many of my friends just have these issues with their boomer parents. And, you know, to be fair, they were the the me generation, right? Back in the 70s. There's a reason for that. Well, maybe how they were brought up, too. They never got the opportunity to call their parents out on. Ken: And I'm not trying to boomer bash, but I see that a lot in that generation. And so many of my friends just have these issues with their boomer parents. you know, to be fair, they were the the me generation, right? In the 70s. There's a reason for that. Well, it may be how they were brought up to. They never got the opportunity to call their parents out on any kind of bullshit their parents did. Right. Usually. And then they got to a point where it's like, I'm the parent now. Lisa: kind of bullshit that parents did right usually and then they got to a point where it's like I'm the parent now Ken: I don't care what my kids say about me. And that's. Lisa: don't care what my kids say about me and that's that could Ken: That could Lisa: either be one of two ways if you're like a parent that's doing you know like the horrible stuff to your kids raising them Ken: either be one of two ways. If you're like a parent doing, you know, like the horrible stuff to your kids, raising them. Either the kid is gonna like exit your life or you're gonna throw some hissy fit and try to, you know, leverage things to get your kid to be around. Lisa: either the kid is gonna like exit your life or you're gonna throw some hissy fit and try to you know leverage things to get your kid to be around. Yeah, because they're boomers, right? I don't know. They're not that old. I think they would be Gen Xers. Are they? She's okay. So yeah. Yeah, because Victoria was born in 74 they look great. I will say, obviously they take really good care of themselves. Okay. And it's, oh, they have four children. Ken: I don't know, they're not that old. I think they would be Gen Xers. They would be Gen Xers. Lisa: a brand to promote. So I would think that's why they. Ken: brand to promote, so I would think that's why they all look great. Lisa: Great. Yeah, that's true. Ken: Yeah, it's interesting with the toxicity of the boomer generation, Lisa: Yeah, it's interesting with the toxicity of the boomer generation, you know, our parents being boomers Ken: know, our parents being boomers and Lisa: and Ken: our parents didn't get along with their parents. Lisa: our parents didn't get along with their parents. My mom did not get along with her mom Ken: mom did not get along with her mom. Lisa: at all. My grandmother played favorites with her kids. My grandmother had 12 children Ken: grandmother played favorites with her kids. My grandmother had 12 children and she favored the boys over the girls. But that was pretty normal back in the 60s. Lisa: and she favored the boys over the girls. But that was pretty normal back in the 60s. It was intergenerational, Ken: It was intergenerational, Lisa: But you know, on this note, Ken: But you know, on this anything you want to add, Ken? No, maybe we should, we're running close to the time and then. Lisa: you want to add, Ken? No, maybe we we're running close to the time and then. Ken: Should pick it up in the next episode? Lisa: Pick it up in the next episode? Ken: Okay, well thanks for listening. This is only our second episode, but we're really excited. We have so much to talk about. Lisa: OK, well, thanks for listening. This is only our second episode, but we're really excited. We have so much to talk about. Ken: We'll see you next episode. Lisa: We'll see you next episode. All right, bye, guys. Bye. Ken: Bye.
