Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_03]: What is happening everybody?
- 0:01[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to the sports cards CEO.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_03]: This is a special edition episode to talk about.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_03]: One of the biggest baseball cards ever to sell.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_03]: And it's on auction right now.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_03]: Little Matt, it's here with me.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_03]: What's up, buddy?
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: He did it a 40 70 season and a season unlike any other and naturely baseball history from one of the Cognitive Junior.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: There's a bright right on the bat of Evan Connor and what a fun season he is having.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, it's this round hard.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: He's the liar of the left.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_02]: My truck has ripped them all around.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: What's up, guys?
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: This is my truck.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: And he lists in the sports car.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: See you guys with current, bubbling hand.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_03]: Let's up, let's up.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_03]: So dude.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, kind of a special episode here.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_03]: Good friend of ours, friend of the show, dinged corners, has on auction the Pete Crow Armstrong debut patch PSA 1010.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_03]: One of the premier cards in all a baseball, especially considering what Pete Crow's doing right now.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_03]: And we just wanted to kind of digest it, talk a little bit about debut patches.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_03]: I want to get your insight on both the card,
- 1:28[SPEAKER_03]: It's relativity to the hobby, the timing of this card with the other debut patches that are going on.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of talk about it.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, lots and lots of talk about and it's going to be really interesting to see what this card goes for.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_04]: A card that I've personally held in my hand, multiple times, being corners have been super kind to show it to us.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm really excited to see what it does.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_04]: But let's dive into about the facts of this card.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, so a couple of years ago, as we all know, I'm tops really revolutionized the hobby with the introduction of the debut patch.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_03]: And so the debut patch is an actual patch worn during the debut game of a given player started with baseball.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_03]: He's now transcended into basketball and they take that patch after the game and they make it into a one of one autographed.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_03]: debut patch rookie card and it is pretty phenomenal marketing.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we talk to Mike Mayhand CEO over at Fanatics Collectibles over the collectibles arm and talk about the development of that.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_03]: Matthew, what's your take just as like a young collector in the hobby about the concept of a debut patch as a baseball collectible.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, I think it's awesome because it's a really, I mean, it's the biggest moment for a player than getting called up.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, especially in baseball, because in basketball, he's them a basketball basketball.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_04]: You're rookie, you're automatically on the team, right?
- 2:46[SPEAKER_04]: For baseball, you've got to earn your spot, man.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_04]: You've got to fight and not many players make it to the big leagues.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_04]: And so.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_04]: To be into the big leagues is such a huge deal and that debut patch is a special card man.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_04]: It's from such a big moment and I think it's one of the best ideas.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_04]: It really revolutionized from the sports card game as opposed to like the prior one of one which would be a top-strength super-fractor, a bum and cream super-fractor.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, you know, again, historically we've never seen anything like this before.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we know the relevance of game-used material and the significance and the price valuation of game-used materials.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you think about Jordan's iconic, you know, jersey sales, Kobe's jersey sales, Game-worn sneaker stuff, anything game-worn is super expensive.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_03]: So this is not only a game-worn piece, it's the actual patch, the logo man.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_03]: from their first game ever played in a professional uniform.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you can't even begin to fathom what that kind of value would be if you're looking at historical Hall of Fame type athletes like Mickey Manel, you know, Willie Mays.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_03]: good Lord if you had a Babe Ruth, you know, first Jersey he ever wore.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, and now you've got these modern players that have these these debut patches and they're getting chased not only by collectors in the hobby, they're getting chased by players themselves and the player's families.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_03]: And so it really is transcendent as far as how the collection side of the hobby, the game you
- 4:26[SPEAKER_03]: You've held the PCA WPatch and it's an interesting case.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_03]: You know Dean Corners is shared with us the story of it.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_03]: So a little background here, guys.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_03]: This card was in the 24 product, right Matthew?
- 4:38[SPEAKER_03]: 24 tops product.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_03]: It was a great class, huge class for debut patches that year.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_03]: You had Caminero's debut patch that year.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_03]: You had holiday that year.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you had the Paul schemes that year, right?
- 4:51[SPEAKER_03]: Cheerio.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_03]: PC, PCA, Cheerio, you know, our our buddy, current has both the Cheerio and the Camino.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_03]: And there's a lot of competition.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think early on though, people were a little bit like, what are these going to do?
- 5:04[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, you know.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_04]: People were super hesitant like I remember the first one selling we're going for four or five grand of like decent players and now you're seeing basketball bitch player daddy patchers go for 60 70 grand.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and how much they've gone up.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_03]: So our buddy Dinkhorns, the story of this card is pretty cool, Matthew.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_03]: You want to share it with the listeners here.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_03]: So when, you know, he, he heard about the card being in the product, of course, he'd been tracking PCA up through the ranks of the minor leagues.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_03]: Life long cubs fan, he put a bounty out there of $10,000 for the card.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_03]: And at the time, you know, there'd only been one sale prior.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, one sale higher than that, I was like singa from the year before, and, you know, anyway, he was connected with this family that hit it within the first week of the product.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_03]: It was one of the first ones hit, and he had put a bounty of 10k, and somebody in the hobby, kind of a hobby friend of ours, you know, as well had connected him to the family's a father and his son that hit it out of a box, I think.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_03]: The the son's name was Blaine, if I was Brad.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_03]: and our buddy Dean Corners like got connected with him.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_03]: I think he spent like a week just having conversations with him just letting him know like, you know, his backstory.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_03]: Because if you go on Dean Corners Instagram page, he has some ridiculous stuff.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, and if you're fortunate enough to know him, you know, it's like a goody box every time we run into him at the national, he's like, hey, come check this out.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's like the most rarest crab I've ever seen in my life.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_04]: He's insane.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_03]: It's just insane.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_03]: And that's just this cards.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he does a lot of game-used stuff, a lot of rare collectibles.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, a quote directly from him is I'm not going to buy a car without a story.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_04]: Every car that he has has a story and that's what I love about looking at his collection.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he has just a row cards and every single one has a story and it's I love looking at his collection man.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and it's, it's fascinating because he's a storyteller by nature and by trade and, you know, it's just, it's cool to see him tell the story because he gets so energetic, just talking to him.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_03]: I talked him for like an hour, the other day when he's telling me about all this stuff and it's just, you know, the story, the story time.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_03]: But anyway, so the following the sun that hit it, he put the bounty out there.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_03]: They didn't want to let it go, actually.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_03]: So they negotiated, he said it's one of the most fun negotiations of his life.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think the number ended up being 17, 18k, he kicked in some alternative like little bonus stuff and again I don't know the details of that.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_03]: It was like a bonus if it graded well.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_03]: There was a bonus of like maybe having some kind of like access to collectible events and stuff like this and he was super generous like basically making sure that everybody was taking care of.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_03]: And you know again at the time it was like one of the highest paid numbers on a debut patch ever.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_03]: it's ridiculous the kind of year that PCA is having.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_03]: I mean just insane.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, and who would have still all come in because two years ago, his cards had a massive dip.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_04]: Like his red bubble ball is red for $2,000.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_04]: It's probably $100,000 card today.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_04]: Like it's insane.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it just goes to show man with these prospects like when they debut, there's always that sophomore slump and then the true great rebound well and you're seeing that like James Wood rebounder really well this year, Camanero never really fell off as just crushing the baseball.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_03]: But PCA, you know what I mean?
- 8:25[SPEAKER_03]: Just, I mean, right now Matthew, he's tied for the Major League leading home runs with 45 with Kaushwarber.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_03]: He has a hundred and seven RBI's is in the top five in RBI's.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_03]: He has 38 bags and he's batting 280 and is arguably the best defender.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_04]: No, there's not an arguably in that sentence.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_04]: He's the best defender in baseball and has he's the best defender we've seen in the last 10 years.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_04]: He comes more ground than anyone.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_04]: He and this way of people, there's no debate on MVP because he truly is the most valuable player to his team.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, all across the board is just so a couple things with with PCA specific to this debut patch PCA his his season this year will go down as one of the top 20 seasons in all of the history of major league baseball.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_03]: His F-War, I think, is pushing 11.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_03]: It's like 10 and a half or something like that.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's better than Mike Trout's best season, you know?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_03]: And it rivals like bonds in like 102.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_03]: Like it's insanity.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, again, I didn't pull the actual stats of what like Showcase 50, 50 season was.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_03]: But, I mean, there's a couple weeks left, I think, or a week or so left, maybe, I don't know, six or seven games.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: He'll get the bags.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_03]: He'll be one of how many players ever have gone over 40 40 40 40.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_04]: And for him as a speedster, like the bags weren't the problem for him.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, like, I mean, the home runs weren't the problem for him.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_04]: Like, he still doesn't have the bags.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but he will in the next few weeks.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_04]: But like 45 bombs at his size as his center filters insane.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_03]: and duties hidden bombs.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I mean, walk off.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_04]: And the thing you got to love about him, I mean, he's got that flaggerman as he really does.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_04]: Like people in Chicago adore him.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_03]: So, so again, it's kind of this perfect storm of the player, the card, the timing, the season.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I mean, it literally is a perfect storm.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_03]: Like, we were talking about this when I was talking with Dean Corne's on the phone.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, dude, you have caught lightning in a bottle.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_03]: And in this moment in time, where you, and that's really what he was saying.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_03]: He's like, man, you know, a truly hate to sell the card.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_03]: But I feel like this is just a moment in time that I have to, you know, take advantage of and just see what happens.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's like curiosity almost, but like,
- 10:50[SPEAKER_03]: just it's just in every single way, man.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's just fascinating.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_03]: So it'll be the first player with the debut patch to win MVP in his debut patch year, right?
- 11:00[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_03]: You know, the highest selling debut patch to this point in time is Paul schemes.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, thanks.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_04]: You're right.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_03]: 1.1 million.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_03]: The Nick Kurtz did 570, I believe.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_04]: I 16.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_03]: 516.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_03]: And so, Matthew, off the cuff, what's your gut?
- 11:17[SPEAKER_03]: What is this card so far?
- 11:19[SPEAKER_04]: 1.2 million dollars.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_04]: You think it does one, too?
- 11:22[SPEAKER_04]: I do.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_04]: I think it does 1.29.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_03]: I was talking to him today, and I said, man, you know, I am captain conservative, especially when it comes to this podcast with cards.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_03]: It continues to blow my mind what things sell for, but considering everything about the card, everything about the player, I mean, here's the other thing.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_03]: Becouse 24 years old.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, this is this 24-year-old season.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_03]: So, I mean, again, at 24, you know, you figure if he has 10 seasons in this kind of swagger, I mean, you're talking about 500 home runs, you know, beyond Hall of Fame, multiple MVP opportunities, like, I mean.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I think just, I think people are overlooking just how remarkable it is that someone beat Showhail Tony for the MVP for the first time in five years.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for sure.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_04]: Like I think people are really like overlooking that.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_04]: Otani's, in all the, in my opinion, the best player of all time, and you have a 24-year-old kid that plays for the soccer club so you can just be him.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_03]: And so there's so much opportunity still ahead on this card.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_03]: And that, because of his age and because of his, you know, skill set.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_03]: And that's why I think the card's going to do extremely well.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if there's going to be some corporate money that gets involved.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, like, would the Chicago Cubs buy this card?
- 12:41[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, who knows?
- 12:42[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Dick's sporting goods, bought the Paul Scains 101.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I'm saying.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_03]: So is there a big Chicago company?
- 12:47[SPEAKER_03]: Is there a big Chicago based?
- 12:49[SPEAKER_03]: You know, is there is there somebody like that that could come in?
- 12:53[SPEAKER_04]: And here's the biggest thing on auction, right?
- 12:55[SPEAKER_04]: Danny P. Good buddy of ours told me something about there's a really big one on one that went on auction and a guy was offered a million dollars private and he's like You know what I'm gonna go auction and it golden and it's gonna do you know over a million well Turns out the guy who offered him a million ended up winning it for 600,000 because there weren't more than two betters on the card above 600,000
- 13:17[SPEAKER_04]: So that's your risk when you, that's your risk when you auction it because you have to have two people more than two people who are willing to fight it out for that card and for this card right here, I mean, I think the possibilities are absolutely endless and I'm really, really excited to see to this.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_03]: You know, but it would be interesting to see if there's like a corporate, you know, Chicago entity that comes in and says, you know, hey, like this is our guy, right, you know, I think the loyalty aspect in the modern game, like a lot of these teams are trying to lock up these guys, you know, for their career.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_03]: It's understandable that Pete Crowe could be in Chicago forever, you know?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_03]: And if somebody like that gets into it, I mean, who knows, man?
- 14:02[SPEAKER_03]: I, my gut is, I think it, I don't know that it exceeds the schemes, but I think it gets pretty close.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_03]: But, but here's, here's the thing, though.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_03]: This is where I want to go with this conversation.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_03]: The timing of when this card ends is five days after the Cooper Flag, the con-kennipple,
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: And they live in Harper.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_03]: So this is the first sales publicly of these iconic NBA debut patches.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_03]: The Cooper flag is on bits.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_03]: I think it ends next Thursday.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to have it.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_03]: Is it three and a half million?
- 14:36[SPEAKER_03]: Why does PCA not to go higher?
- 14:38[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, if you compare the players, flag, incredible rookie season, but you know when MVP, I mean, granted, it wasn't rookie season, PCA had literally a top 20 season in all baseball history, Cooper Flag didn't have a top 20 season in the NBA.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that isn't saying.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Cooper flag the debut patch.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it had offers like raw like non PSA 1010 or one on auction at 4 million.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_04]: So it's going to be really curious to see what it goes for an auction.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_03]: Here's the other thing, too.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: The Cooper flag, the Dylan Harper and the conchanipular all fanatics.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_03]: This cards on Golden.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's pretty ingenious.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's not competing with those, but it's competing from a separate auction house.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_04]: So then it's kind of like a battle between the auction houses to say, look, you can sell more for debut patches.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I think, and it's lining up that the PCA ends after the Cooper Flag.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_03]: So let's say the Cooper Flag goes for $5 million.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think somebody comes in and sees PCA value at $2 million?
- 15:40[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's definitely possible.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_04]: I think the possibilities are endless on this car.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_04]: Like, it was funny because I was having the conversation about with someone about the Kobe Jordan logo man that sold for $12.9 million.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_04]: That broke the card record.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_04]: And it was projected to go for like $78 million.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_04]: And I might do the possibilities are endless on this phone.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_04]: Like, people are so underestimating what this card can do on auction and it ended up doing like $20 million.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_04]: 12.9.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_03]: So here's the thing.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_03]: Like, do you think that like the shine index and Mr.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_03]: Wonderful?
- 16:10[SPEAKER_04]: That's a great question.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think that they get in on it?
- 16:13[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I don't know if they were, they never made a bounty on the flag, which kind of because on every car, big car, like the Otani, congee, double lug a man, like they made a bounty and said, hey, we're offering this for this and they ended up getting that car.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_04]: They made no bounty on the flag.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_03]: Well, here's the thing.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that they play the game with young players.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_04]: Like I think that no, no, they definitely do.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you think so?
- 16:38[SPEAKER_04]: If you saw his Wanderfranco and Zion Williams, I mean, he has to Jason the Mingaz Super.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_03]: But that was a former, that was a former life.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_03]: I think with Mr.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_03]: Wonderful, I think there's specifically going, Kobe, you know, LeBron, Jordan, Showhay.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he owns a lot of Wimbie.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_04]: What do you do that PCA is comparable to Wendy as Wendy is debasque ball young phenom comes in It's suddenly a top two player in the game like yeah, I don't think so because Personally, I don't think so he I don't think he has the same kind of lure
- 17:16[SPEAKER_03]: because Wimby like legitimately looks like an A like he's seven foot four whatever he like he you know what I'm saying like Pete Crow is very unassuming like Aaron judge Holy cow dude like he's a six foot seven like you know what I'm saying yeah Well this brings me to a question like what would a Wimby debut patch fell for dude You think it would go like 10 million plus if Flags does five six yeah I mean it's got to be what did the show what did the show hey logo man just do
- 17:46[SPEAKER_03]: 11 million the gold the MVP gold the double.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, if if that's the market I just might my thing comes back.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, okay, how many how many people are literally competing for that high value asset?
- 18:02[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I'm saying like
- 18:05[SPEAKER_04]: It's the same thing I brought up about the the car that stole because there was only one buyer on it about 600 About 600 K and he got it for 600 K and he was willing to pay a million like I but look what what didn't corners asked me the other day As he said give me the percentages of what you think it goes for so it's like person what is the percentage it goes for 800 to a million from a million to 1.2 from 1.2 to 1.4 and 1.4
- 18:29[SPEAKER_04]: point five million on and I was pretty much split like 30% 30% 30% and like I still think there's a true possibility that the card goes for 1.5, 2 million plus.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, and it could, which is just mind boggling, but if you look at other non-day view paths, one of one sales.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the Mahomes National Treasures RPA 101, $5 million.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_04]: the loot the local man five million dollars the judge super five point two million dollars yeah and you're looking those are the top three and those like you're looking at the baseball it's not Otani, but it's you know your second third best guy and it's a debut patch this is something that those aren't those are all there they're not debut patchets
- 19:17[SPEAKER_03]: Well, here's the only thing, man.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_03]: Here's the only thing for me with this and I'll play, you know, kind of, capital conservative again, is yes, PCA is had a ridiculous season.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, he's shown that he can be the most dynamic player in baseball, but he's still 24.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Patrick, my home's this one, how many Super Bowls now?
- 19:34[SPEAKER_03]: Three.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_03]: Aaron Judge has done it for five seasons, six seasons of doing what he did, you know?
- 19:42[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_03]: So I think there's still a little bit of the bad taste in the mouth from some high and people potentially that got burnt on Zion, got even burnt on like Lucas' value, where it is now, you know?
- 19:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_03]: And I think when you get like, look at Jackson Holiday.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, again, some of these guys with baseball is just a fickle game, man.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's such a fickle game.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_03]: And you look at how many people in the league have been like competitive for, you know, seven, eight, ten years.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_03]: And this is great timing for it because the the potential is there, but I don't know.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder how much that might keep somebody from going after it in a really high number.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I know, I mean, but I'm really excited to find out and guess what, if it's corporate money like you said, they're not looking at Zion Williamson and Luka Dawn to crisis there.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_04]: No, put the megabit in there and they're saying this is in this is going in a museum.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, that's another thing you have to look at.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm telling you, do corporate money's change the game.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_03]: When you get corporate money coming in like this, it's completely changed the game.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_03]: What's what's also interesting about this is when you start to get into the debut patches really set itself apart because it's game used.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's the debut game.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_03]: It's an autograph.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_03]: It's 101.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_03]: There are so many 101s though.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 21:01[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Dynasty 101's, you know, you've got top scrim, you know, 101's, you know, you've got Bowman 101.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, so again, I think that compared to years past, you know what I mean?
- 21:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like a trout 101 or show, hey, one of them.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, they're, they're only, I mean, even the trout super salt for 4 million.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_03]: So it'll just be interesting.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_03]: It don't know.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_03]: It just be interesting to see.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we're super excited for him.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think the timing of this thing is phenomenal.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_03]: It ends five days after the Cooper flag.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I think it will really show where the market stands on how baseball compares to basketball when it comes to high-end pricing.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_03]: Because if you look at, you know, overall the high sale of all time is the Jordan Kobe logo man, right?
- 21:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yep, and then was there not a car that broke that, but didn't the Pokemon break it?
- 21:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean it did 16 million, but like yeah.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_03]: So, so you've got the Manel and the Honest Wagner, and then you've got the show, hey, dual MVP gold logo, man.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_03]: You know, so I don't know, it'll be interesting to see how this compares, because I mean, people always talk about, you know,
- 22:07[SPEAKER_03]: NBA is more of an international market, but show a is making baseball more of an international market, although PCA is not an international type player, but he kind of has that swag or they so it the stars are a lot, man.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_03]: But if you had to say right now, Matthew, you said it.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_03]: You stand firm 1.2 $1.2 million.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_03]: That's my prediction I hear.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_03]: Little man.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_04]: I'll tell you this.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_04]: I'll tell you this.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_04]: My prediction for the Cooper flag is five is five million.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_03]: You think it does five.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_04]: I think there's one thing.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's doing Harper does one point five.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was going to say, do you think that do you think the PCA should do more than Dylan, Dylan Harper in in Continental?
- 22:45[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely, and it doesn't that's awful.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_04]: Like PCA is Yo and Harper is a roll.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_04]: He's not a roll player.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_04]: He's a great player, but he's like kind of a roll player on a great first team We saw him pop off in the finals, but like PCA is a super star on a great club's team
- 23:02[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know a whole lot about the cubs like playoff runs and all that kind of stuff this year, but like, you know, if they make, I think they're probably a playoff contingent team, right?
- 23:10[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I don't know.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_03]: But again, if you saw PCA after this auction, if he comes out and they have like a crazy playoff run, you know what I mean?
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: Like, that's where I think whoever buys this card could turn it and like double up.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 23:26[SPEAKER_03]: Hi there.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_03]: if it's it's so it's it's really wild to consider but you know super happy for our buddy Dean Corners and just excited to see what what goes down with this thing and we'd love to hear what you guys think like you know what I mean can you think of another like asset that's been produced in the last five years that would have more significance to the hobby than this card you know
- 23:52[SPEAKER_03]: I think with these, with these game-used things that they've been doing with these patch autos, I mean, it is really revolutionized where the hobby space is right now.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_03]: I can't think of a other than the Cooper Flag arguably.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_03]: I can't think of another part of this.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_04]: I'm also, Dad, I'm pretty sure that the Jackson Dart debut patch sold for half a million last night.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_03]: Do what?
- 24:12[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you heard me right.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_04]: The Jackson Dart sold for half a million.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_03]: So this is in football too, I didn't you know this.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_04]: I think they just started this year.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_04]: I could be completely wrong.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_04]: But I still also want to post.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_04]: You can go look it up.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_04]: The Jackson Dart, like on Golden Last night, half an hour ago.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_03]: There wasn't like a troll that was like joking about it.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, he's told on Golden Last night.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_04]: You look it up.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_04]: Go on car batter, go on car batter, and look up.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_04]: Just dart, and then put like over 100k because there's no other Jackson Dart part that we sell for more than that.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_04]: I'll do enough money.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_03]: The fact that Jackson's time stills.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my gosh.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_03]: So I'll see.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_04]: Dar, oh, just sort and then sort by price.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_04]: Jackson, Dar, sort by price.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_03]: I don't see it.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_03]: Dude, I swear it's sold.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_03]: Should I go find it or no?
- 24:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'll see it.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_03]: I said that the highest one I see is a gold 10 to 10 right now.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_03]: Wait, what are you looking at?
- 25:01[SPEAKER_03]: Card ladder.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, a gold 10 of 10, what do you do?
- 25:04[SPEAKER_03]: 17k.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, his black fine ice over 204,000.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_04]: Did you spell his name wrong?
- 25:09[SPEAKER_03]: J-A-A-X-O-N.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's, that's not right.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_04]: You put Dart.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_03]: I was J-A-X-S-O-N. Yeah, it's put Dart.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_03]: $500,000 right now.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: Just did it right golden-less.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_04]: What was the card?
- 25:21[SPEAKER_03]: It was the premiere NFL premiere patch.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yep, tops premiere 2025.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yep, $500,000 for that.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_03]: Well, there you go.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, truth be told that that's a...
- 25:36[SPEAKER_04]: Discone do more than that if it doesn't do more than the jackson dark gray to the PSA 10 10 and it's a true debut patch.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_04]: I'd be shocked.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you know, I think this is a great opportunity for Golden, you know, with the kind of fanfare that they've gotten with the, you know, the Netflix show and all.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, it's like, hey, you guys have built your brand to this point and now you have an opportunity to see if you can market this card to the most premier buyers in the world for an asset like this.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think it's brilliant.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just sitting here with my, I got my little popcorn, you know what I mean?
- 26:12[SPEAKER_03]: I'm eating it to see.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, it will, I'm excited.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just excited.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's cool to be able to hold the card, too.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_03]: And then there's no
- 26:23[SPEAKER_03]: Well, dude, this was like a special episode.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_03]: Really just talking about this, talking about Pete Crow, talking about the car, talking about the state of the hobby right now.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's wild, man.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_03]: It's wild.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_03]: I never thought when you and I got into this or whatever.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_03]: We would be hosting a podcast with a friend of ours.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_03]: Who's has a car that's on auction is gonna do probably a million dollars in like here we are They know so it's just fascinating But super happy for Dean Corners for setting a stage man.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's very very smart his approach He's one of those guys.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_03]: I just love picking his brain man He doesn't really do a lot of interviews and podcasts and stuff but one of these days, man We're gonna get him on here.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_03]: We'll get him on
- 26:58[SPEAKER_03]: He's fascinating to talk to because he's so smart at the way he kind of attacks things.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's just the rarity conversation and just his brilliant.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_03]: So it's a lot of fun.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_03]: Well, Lil Matt, man, appreciate it.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_03]: To our listeners, like I said, kind of a short and sweet episode today, but we're just celebrating our buddy and this car that's going to set the stage, I think, for the next little bit of sports cards and this hobby that we all know and love.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_03]: So appreciate you guys tuning into this special episode of the sports card CEO.
