- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to this episode of the Daily Writer Podcast.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: You know, on a day-to-day basis, we are consumed with the here and the now as writers.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: We're consumed with what we have to write and publish today or this week or this month or for a certain client.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: But expand your horizons and think not just about this week, this month, or this year.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Go beyond even the next five or ten years.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: I want you to stop and think a hundred years into the future.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Think about this question.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: How will people 100 years from now be able to interact with your writing?
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Now, of course, nobody can predict what the technology of the future is going to be like.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: That's why I believe it's important to create something physical that can be passed down to future generations.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: One of my most treasured possessions is a tattered notebook that my grandmother Louise used to write her poetry in.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: And she died when I was three years old.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: But whenever I look through that notebook and whenever I see her poems, many of which actually are quite good as poems, it's almost like she's there with me because I'm holding the actual notebook that she used to write those poems in.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: And that's not something that you can get on a computer screen.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: It's not something that you can experience on the internet or by watching a screen.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Now, in terms of writing, I think that every author should create a print book.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Not only is a print book more prestigious than an ebook, it's something that you can pass down to your kids and your grandkids and all future generations.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: As writers, I believe that we have a responsibility to think not just about the impact that we leave in the world today, but how we will impact those in the future far beyond our lives as well.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Here's today's question How do you imagine your writing might impact someone a hundred years into the future?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
