- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here. And you're about to listen to a
- 0:41hypnosis session specifically designed for investors and day
- 0:47traders that might have impulses and urges.
- 0:52Now, the actual client that I was working with had been
- 0:55diagnosed with ADHD. They weren't taking any
- 0:58medication for that ADHD and they were doing the kind of day
- 1:03trading which is very, very volatile, which is the very low
- 1:08timeframe, the one minute, 5 minute timeframes.
- 1:12Now this has. Big, big.
- 1:14Swings, which is how traders make their money by predicting.
- 1:19Volatility. Based on technical analysis and
- 1:22patterns and trends. But it's also very risky.
- 1:26Now where the risk comes in is if you follow a disciplined
- 1:30plan, you can always make money guaranteed.
- 1:33But what can happen is that if the emotions take over, you can
- 1:37then erode your gains and this particular client felt that they
- 1:42had put too much time in to be able to walk away.
- 1:46This is called. A a sunk cost fallacy.
- 1:51If. There is an evaluation that
- 1:53because you've invested so much, now you have to continue to
- 1:58invest more. The other phrase for this would.
- 2:00Be chasing losses. Now, at some level that's not
- 2:05always the case. It could be that what people are
- 2:08doing is accumulating more experience, more wisdom for the
- 2:10breakthrough. But what we need is a stop loss.
- 2:14So there's two elements here. 1 is that there's a hypnosis
- 2:18session all about them having the resources to be disciplined
- 2:22and focused. But at the same time there is
- 2:25this idea that if they can't get to a certain level of discipline
- 2:31and consistency within a time frame, then they've given it a
- 2:35good go, but now they need to pivot to do something else.
- 2:40And it links to this misattributed Einstein quote
- 2:43that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and
- 2:48expecting a different result. There are stop losses that are
- 2:53intuitive for traders. Most traders will have profit
- 2:56taking levels and stop losses to avoid losing, you know,
- 3:01exponential amounts. But at the same time, it's good
- 3:04to have a stop loss in life. That might be in personal
- 3:09things. It might be that you decide that
- 3:11you're going to pursue a career or self-employment for a certain
- 3:15period of time. That might be a certain number
- 3:16of years, but if it doesn't meet certain criteria by then, then
- 3:21you re evaluate if it's still the right thing to do.
- 3:24So there's a bit going on here. The person or the type of people
- 3:28that would benefit most will be day traders that have ADHD, but
- 3:31I would. Say.
- 3:32Everyone gets distracted, everyone has impulses, everyone
- 3:37is attached to doing things even if it no longer makes sense to
- 3:41do them. So I want you to think about
- 3:43that stuff before this hypnosis session starts.
- 3:46You really maximize the value for you in terms of getting the
- 3:49best value for it. Find a quiet, comfortable place,
- 3:53ideally the kind of environment that you're not going to be
- 3:55distracted or disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:18Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in a
- 4:26feeling of calm relaxation, and as you exhale, just allow your
- 4:34eyelids to close as you start to settle into that rhythmic
- 4:42breathing. When you breathe in, breathe in
- 4:48for longer, and as you exhale, just allow that outward breath
- 4:57to continue for longer than it normally is.
- 5:03That's in breathing, in relaxation,
- 5:15exhaling tension. And I want you to think of a
- 5:20place in nature, the kind of place where you felt very, very
- 5:28relaxed, maybe by a beach, maybe by a forest, maybe by a lake.
- 5:37And I want you to imagine being out there.
- 5:45Imagine the sensation of sunlight on your skin, a breeze,
- 5:52perhaps even the smells of nearby things.
- 6:01And I want you to imagine, I want you to imagine that
- 6:07somewhere nearby in that nature is a table and a screen.
- 6:16And I want you to imagine on that screen is a chart showing
- 6:24green and red candles of the NASDAQ, the whole index.
- 6:32I want you to imagine staring into that screen and just allow
- 6:39that part of you that can hyper focus to imagine seeing it
- 6:45changing in real time every few seconds.
- 6:52Every minute it shows a new candle and it's telling you
- 6:57information. And I want you to imagine that
- 7:01you allow that part of you to be focused on the screen as I start
- 7:09communicating to a different part.
- 7:14A part that doesn't want the future to be an echo of the
- 7:20past. A version of you that wants to
- 7:26have that stimulation without the frustration, to have that
- 7:34excitement without the crashes. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 7:46a cloud up in the sky. Just keep that other part
- 7:49staring into the screen. It's the part that wants change
- 7:54now. And just imagine staring up at
- 7:57that cloud, and the cloud starts making numbers, and the first
- 8:03number is 999. And then just imagine that cloud
- 8:10shifts to make 998. Just imagine there is a
- 8:18analytical part confused by this.
- 8:23The hyper focus part is staring at the screen and the analytical
- 8:28is wondering how and why clouds are counting down in the sky
- 8:34like a giant countdown timer. Allow that analytical part to
- 8:43focus on the clouds and then and separate from that, that part
- 8:50still wants change. That part that really wants to
- 8:58make decisions inside structure to follow a plan to be free of
- 9:05chasing impulses launching in because of FOMO.
- 9:14There are now three different versions of you out there in
- 9:17nature. The hyper focus part staring
- 9:22into the screen, locked in where time disappears.
- 9:31An analytical part counting down a cloud in the sky.
- 9:36Maybe it's 994 now, or maybe less.
- 9:40Continuing to watch it countdown and then the part that wants
- 9:45change and just imagine there's a comfy chair there in nature,
- 9:51that part that wants change. Imagine sitting on that chair or
- 9:57lying on the chair if it's a recliner, something comfortable.
- 10:02And I want you to imagine that that part doesn't want anything
- 10:07light or superficial. That part wants to go deep.
- 10:17So imagine sinking into that chair, eyelids getting heavier,
- 10:21jaw getting loose, and just focus on the very top of your
- 10:27head, almost like a high-powered torch is shining from your head
- 10:35into your brain. And just imagine your eyes
- 10:39focusing on where the light would be if it was inside your
- 10:43head. That's it.
- 10:48Feel your shoulders, loosen your jaw, unlock your forehead,
- 10:53smooth your breathing slow and steady.
- 10:58That's it. Focus on the light inside your
- 11:00head. And as you inhale, tension rises
- 11:05to the surface. And as you exhale, that slides
- 11:11down your body and through your feet and just let your legs grow
- 11:17heavier, your arms warmer, your thoughts slower, as if your
- 11:25whole body drifts into that deep absorbing state where focus
- 11:31becomes effortless and that sense of stillness and calm
- 11:37becomes easy as you focus on that light there inside your
- 11:46brain. Imagine relaxing your eyelids
- 11:52even more and changing that focus so the light is now in
- 11:56your chest. A soothing, relaxing light,
- 12:01calming you down. As your body relaxes, your
- 12:05imagination awakens and I wonder if you could imagine walking
- 12:11down a long descending corridor that is filled with glowing
- 12:18lights. And every step down the corridor
- 12:23your mind grows quieter, your body melts deeper.
- 12:30And the scanner mind just keeps noticing things.
- 12:36Maybe it's a message on the wall, a door unlocked or a
- 12:41picture. Just keeping it gently occupied
- 12:44with the deeper mind starts to open fully.
- 12:48Now I'm going to countdown from 12:50 and you will imagine
- 12:57continuing to walk down the corridor 10, deeper and deeper.
- 13:06987 letting go, continuing to walk down the corridor 654
- 13:13sinking into the chair 3, two and one.
- 13:22Imagine a doorway at the end of that corridor, A doorway that
- 13:29leads into your own control room, A control room that can
- 13:34regulate things that are normally unregulated, things
- 13:39like impulsivity and focus, a sense of control.
- 13:45But you're standing in front of the door at the end of a
- 13:47corridor that leads to that control room.
- 13:51And as I countdown from 5 to 1, you will imagine opening the
- 13:56door, walking through the door, and then closing the door behind
- 14:03you. Five hand on the hand or 4
- 14:12turning the hand or three opening the door, 2 walking
- 14:17through the door and one closing the door behind you.
- 14:23And you're now in a control room, a calm, strategic, high
- 14:29performance space inside your mind, the surface level, but
- 14:37deep, deep down. And imagine this room filled
- 14:43with screens showing charts, criteria, patterns.
- 14:50But I want you to notice something important.
- 14:54Every chart in this room moves slowly, deliberately and
- 15:01predictably. There's no chaos here, no rush,
- 15:09no spikes of dopamine or adrenaline.
- 15:13This is a place where you can see the whole picture, not just
- 15:20flashing temptations. And in the centre is a large
- 15:26switchboard, and three switches stand out.
- 15:33One, impulsivity is now off, and if it isn't, switch it to off.
- 15:44Two, FOMO neutralized. That fear of missing out has
- 15:49made you made decisions that break your own criteria.
- 15:53So just imagine neutralizing FOMO so it loses its grip on
- 15:59your decisions. And most importantly of all, see
- 16:05a switch called criteria and switch that on fully with
- 16:16impulsivity off. The noise goes quiet, twitchy
- 16:22urgency dissolves, and that act now Reflux shuts down, and when
- 16:33FOMO is neutralized, it's because you've activated
- 16:37patience. You don't need to dive in,
- 16:43because the nature of markets is that there will always be
- 16:48another entry, a Mistrade, a setup you couldn't quite.
- 16:58Time loses all emotional charge and power over you.
- 17:05You feel No Fear of missing anything, in the same way that
- 17:11you wouldn't be upset about missing a train if you knew for
- 17:16certain there would be another train coming along soon.
- 17:24Isn't it better to wait for the right train than to jump on to
- 17:31just any train and find that it's taking you in the wrong
- 17:34direction? But most importantly of all,
- 17:39criteria is on you. Know your criteria, what it
- 17:47takes to make an optimal entry. Clarity, precision, quality over
- 17:56quantity. Isn't it better to make 3 trades
- 18:02a day that are great than 10 or 15 average trades?
- 18:10Discernment is more important than just making a decision,
- 18:18because anyone can make a decision.
- 18:22But making a bad decision is costly.
- 18:26And that's why due diligence, discernment, and discipline
- 18:34means that when you do make a decision, it's more likely to be
- 18:40a great decision to just allow that configuration to lock in.
- 18:50Because the mind is now open to powerful, helpful, useful
- 18:55suggestions. I want you to fully, fully
- 19:01embrace a new identity, not an impulsive, chaotic, speculative
- 19:10random trader. You are a disciplined trader.
- 19:15You trade your plan, you follow your criteria, and your system
- 19:21decides your decisions, not your impulses.
- 19:28And every part of you that once chased dopamine through
- 19:31impulsive trades now realise that the highest dopamine is
- 19:38earned from mastery, not chaos. And mastery comes from criteria,
- 19:46patience, structure and control. And I want you to think of an
- 19:57old belief, something like money comes easily or money's easy to
- 20:05get. And for that to be true, you had
- 20:09to think of moments in your life where you made a trade, it went
- 20:17well, and suddenly there was a high return on that initial
- 20:22investment. But I want you to think that you
- 20:27can't cherry pick. I want you to get a sense that
- 20:34when it comes to trading, you can't say you made a profit on
- 20:39one trade if you made a loss on the other.
- 20:43And I want you to feel that all of the hours of study, learning,
- 20:49and experience that means that money is a reflection of
- 21:03everything that's come before all the hours of study you
- 21:10didn't get paid for, all of the hours of trading that didn't
- 21:15turn a profit. That is evidence to say that
- 21:21money can come easily, but won't necessarily because money
- 21:29rewards value being created for the world or the ability to make
- 21:36discerning choices and take measured risks.
- 21:47Because money only feels easy when discipline is high, when
- 21:51criteria are met, when emotion is off and logic is off.
- 21:59The mind now rejects randomness. Feel it rejecting gambling
- 22:05energy. Feel it rejecting forced
- 22:09intuition that contradicts your rules.
- 22:15I want you to imagine that your intuition is only one ingredient
- 22:19of decision making, and when your intuition also matches your
- 22:24criteria, that's an ideal entry. But if either the intuition or
- 22:35the data is not quite right, you would rather not catch that
- 22:42train that is taking you to a place that you don't want to go
- 22:46to. So imagine feeling grounded and
- 22:49calm, aligned with your criteria, not in conflict with
- 22:56them. And here, in this control room,
- 23:02feel that your unconscious mind is becoming ruthlessly
- 23:07strategic. A losing trade is just
- 23:12information, not identity, not hope, not rescue missions, and
- 23:17not reloads. Any compulsion to make it back
- 23:22dissolves because you exit when the criteria says exit with
- 23:33neutrality, with discipline, with clarity, with an air of
- 23:40professionalism. I want you to think of a pact,
- 23:50an agreement you are going to make with yourself.
- 23:55You've tried this trading and the definition of insanity is
- 24:00doing the same things and expecting different results.
- 24:05So you are introducing a stop loss in your life beyond a
- 24:13certain date, and you know that date trading continues only if
- 24:21you're making more than $10,000 a month consistently and you're
- 24:25actually following your criteria.
- 24:28Trades are based on criteria, not emotions and impulses.
- 24:36And this isn't punishment or a restriction, It's a performance
- 24:42threshold, a professional standard.
- 24:49If the criteria is met and the results achieved, then it makes
- 24:56sense to continue day trading with confidence and calm.
- 25:02But if either 1 is not met by the end of that month, your
- 25:08unconscious accepts the pivot. You will stop day trading.
- 25:15You will protect and conserve your capital, and you will move
- 25:19to a different form of investing or trading that doesn't operate
- 25:25on the same time frame. This isn't a failure, it's just
- 25:32strategy to avoid that sunk cost fallacy.
- 25:43Consider it, if needed, a mature pivot, a profitable path with
- 25:50less noise and more structure. Your unconscious calibrates 3
- 26:02trades, not 6, not 9 or 10, not 15 or 23 trades, quality trades,
- 26:14criteria aligned trades, and nothing else.
- 26:22And every impulse becomes a cue to just slow down.
- 26:28Every urge becomes a cue to breathe.
- 26:30And that intuition? That doesn't make the decision.
- 26:38It just helps to consider it a cue to check the criteria.
- 26:45And when intuition matches criteria, you make the trade.
- 26:51Nothing gets executed unless it meets the rules cleanly.
- 26:59And as you start to think of that ADHD, think of it no longer
- 27:05as a saboteur. Think of it as your high
- 27:09performance engine, where your brain enjoys structure, your
- 27:15brain enjoys rules, and your brain enjoys focus when the
- 27:21environment is right. And what if day trading becomes
- 27:27a structured challenge where the game is not chasing the move,
- 27:33the game is sticking to the criteria.
- 27:35And what if that's where the real dopamine comes from now,
- 27:43where the reward is discipline, not randomness?
- 27:54And I want you to consider that there are multiple ways to feed
- 27:59your impulsivity, and trading doesn't not need to be that.
- 28:09Think of a future where you're teaching trading, explaining
- 28:13setups, helping others to navigate the charts.
- 28:30And what if that gave you way more satisfaction and dopamine
- 28:40than making a trade ever did? What if that becomes a future
- 28:47outlet, a pressure valve to release a safe container for all
- 28:56of that creativity and spontaneity to find a home?
- 29:04You don't need chaos for excitement.
- 29:08What if you can get it from teaching, helping, mentoring, or
- 29:11just sharing what you've learned with the world?
- 29:13And what if that takes the pressure off trading to provide
- 29:18everything? I don't want you to imagine
- 29:24floating through time to your stop loss the final day of a
- 29:30month and just imagine two parts.
- 29:37If the version of you is having those 10,000 months and is
- 29:43disciplined, then you see yourself continuing on that path
- 29:48with even more discipline and making even more per month.
- 29:55But if you don't, I want you to imagine seeing you strategically
- 30:01pivoting to something else more profitable that aligns more with
- 30:07your nature. Either future is desirable, but
- 30:16what decides it is your criteria and your performance.
- 30:23Not willpower, Not shame, not criticism, or anything else.
- 30:32The criteria determines your future in the same way that your
- 30:38criteria determines a trade. And if your unconscious mind
- 30:44agrees, let me know by nodding your head.
- 30:52See that future version of you doing well in any timeline?
- 30:59Maybe swing trading, maybe day trading.
- 31:01But you are still calm, confident, disciplined.
- 31:06Impulses come, So what an impulse knows means nothing if
- 31:14you don't reward it with behaviour.
- 31:18An impulse is just a feeling, and that feeling will pass.
- 31:25But just imagine now leaving that control room, finding
- 31:29yourself there in the corridor, walking all the way down to the
- 31:33other end of the corridor. And then imagine finding
- 31:40yourself on a comfortable chair out in nature.
- 31:45And as you leave the chair, you see two different versions of
- 31:49you, the analytical part staring into clouds.
- 31:54Maybe you can even see what number clouds are saying now.
- 31:58And as you walk into that part, feel that the analytical,
- 32:03logical part is now aligned with your stop loss, your criteria,
- 32:08your strategy. And then that hyper focus part
- 32:13still staring into a screen. Step into that.
- 32:16All parts merged into one aligned with your higher self.
- 32:23A part that already knows the best way forward for you.
- 32:30As you leave the screen feel you have so many choices, so many
- 32:36skills, so much knowledge. There is only one thing you're
- 32:40not willing to do and that is day trade without discipline.
- 32:49If you day trade intuitively, recklessly, with impulses and
- 32:53FOMO, then it means day trading is not for you.
- 32:59But if you can, with structure, discipline, and discernment, you
- 33:05have permission to continue forever, so long as the criteria
- 33:12is there. And just imagine now, floating
- 33:16all the way back, all the way back to the present, taking a
- 33:22deep breath in through your nose and out through your nose.
- 33:27Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes.
- 33:29Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 33:34from 1:00 to 10 to awaken you Starting to count 123 waking up
