- 0:46Speaker 1: I can only imagine growing up in Chicago and the
- 0:48Speaker 1: peak and MJ, Like, how was that to get the
- 0:50Speaker 1: New Georgians when they first dropped wile MJ is still
- 0:52Speaker 1: killing up the street.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Well, I couldn't get him, man, I was from the hood.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Poor I ain't get him got in the game. But yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 3: but no, it's a thing here. I mean, obviously we
- 1:02Speaker 3: all grew up Bulls fans, and so everybody hears about joints.
- 1:05Speaker 3: That's like the hottest ticket. I think still to today
- 1:08Speaker 3: in Chicago for show.

- 1:17Speaker 5: We got an og and the bill showed me a
- 1:20Speaker 5: lot of love when I first got to Atlanta, so
- 1:21Speaker 5: I appreciate him. So him to step on the pod
- 1:23Speaker 5: with us and have a good time talk hoops, talk life.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I'm excited about this for show. Man. Listen, Man, we're
- 1:29Speaker 2: excited this episode. Man. He always showed love from the
- 1:31Speaker 2: very beginning, so we're very happy to do this. Man. Listen.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Champion in college and the NBA twelve year vet. Man,
- 1:37Speaker 1: we got Chicago's very own man. Hey, Walker, appreciate you
- 1:39Speaker 1: putting on this big dog.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Man.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Appreciate having me Man, long time coming, Man, Really big
- 1:44Speaker 3: fan of what you guys are establishing this space. Man,
- 1:46Speaker 3: I know it's a big space for everybody in it,
- 1:48Speaker 3: but you guys are unique.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Man. I enjoyed watching it for sure.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Show listen, we talk about Chicago's finest man. Talk about
- 1:55Speaker 1: high school Mark Corme. We sawed off the Domino mcdad man.
- 1:58Speaker 1: A lot of people don't know that.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Yeah, uh so, me and Donovan went the high school
- 2:02Speaker 3: together for four years. But the funny thing about it
- 2:04Speaker 3: Donovan was he was a two sport player, but great quarterback.
- 2:09Speaker 3: We all know his quarterback history and how good he was,
- 2:12Speaker 3: but he was a really, really good basketball player and
- 2:16Speaker 3: he got recruited to sports. A lot of people don't
- 2:17Speaker 3: know he played fuss Syracuse. He didn't get any minutes,
- 2:20Speaker 3: but even when won the national championship, he was on
- 2:22Speaker 3: the team. He was on the ross, he was on
- 2:23Speaker 3: the bench. So that's what he got recruited as he's
- 2:26Speaker 3: one of the best athletes I've ever seen. I don't
- 2:28Speaker 3: know if he could have been pro that might be
- 2:29Speaker 3: in a stretch, but definitely could have played overseas and
- 2:34Speaker 3: made money playing basketball.
- 2:35Speaker 1: You know, it's crazy. Shout out to journeys. Back in
- 2:37Speaker 1: the days, journeys used to have random throwbacks. But I
- 2:40Speaker 1: had a high school that Malcalma joined the dollar men that.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I was like, there's another Dov.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I got the high schol throw back. He must have
- 2:48Speaker 2: been nice.
- 2:48Speaker 4: I had high school. It was a football school, so
- 2:50Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying.
- 2:51Speaker 3: So, you know, obviously the football program is incredible, but
- 2:55Speaker 3: he helped me put the basketball team kind of probably
- 2:58Speaker 3: on the map.
- 2:58Speaker 4: He was a big part of that. And he was
- 3:00Speaker 4: a real two spot player.
- 3:02Speaker 2: That's great.
- 3:02Speaker 3: So do you feel like pro football players can hoop
- 3:06Speaker 3: in the NBA? I kind of opened up the bait
- 3:10Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Just no, I don't.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I don't think that. I don't think that I have
- 3:15Speaker 3: a I have a high level of respect for guys
- 3:18Speaker 3: that make it to the NBA. Right, I love football,
- 3:22Speaker 3: I love baseball, Baseball my first love. I don't think
- 3:24Speaker 3: I could play in the major leagues.
- 3:25Speaker 4: You know what I mean.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I don't think. I don't think football players playing in
- 3:28Speaker 3: the league. It's different. Okay, yeah, it's the reason why,
- 3:32Speaker 3: you know what I mean. It's only you know, the
- 3:34Speaker 3: rosters obviously extended, but at one point he was only
- 3:36Speaker 3: twelve pros man rosters of twelve, I think it that
- 3:40Speaker 3: the fifteen now with the you know, obviously with the
- 3:42Speaker 3: G League, I mean the D League and G League
- 3:43Speaker 3: and all that shit.
- 3:44Speaker 4: It extended, But no, I don't think so.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Before we against your career, may let's your script for show.
- 3:50Speaker 1: You gotta talk about the first time Y linked up man,
- 3:52Speaker 1: the first.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Time I'm at to one man.
- 3:53Speaker 4: We was.
- 3:54Speaker 5: I was a young pupp in Atlanta, and you know,
- 3:57Speaker 5: I just had turned twenty one, got drafted. I wanted
- 3:59Speaker 5: to go test my waters, test my luck in Atlanta.
- 4:02Speaker 5: So I go to the Intments, the most famous club
- 4:06Speaker 5: in Atlanta called Magic City. I walk in there, young,
- 4:09Speaker 5: don't know what to do, don't know nobody in there.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Smooth send me.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I go in there. I'm looking around.
- 4:16Speaker 5: Somebody come take me, you know, grab my hand, tell
- 4:18Speaker 5: me where to go, where I need to sit in
- 4:19Speaker 5: and everything.
- 4:20Speaker 2: He didn't know me from a can of paint. And
- 4:23Speaker 2: he seen me from a distant I think somebody might
- 4:24Speaker 2: have told him something like, oh he young fell he
- 4:26Speaker 2: just got drafted. He called me over there. I come
- 4:28Speaker 2: over there. He opened a briefcase, threw me some ones. Man.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I end up having a time that night, and I
- 4:35Speaker 2: never forgot that. I'm like, damn, And I was just like,
- 4:38Speaker 2: is that how you're supposed to do it Like, am
- 4:42Speaker 2: I doing this all wrong? But I just remember having
- 4:45Speaker 2: that time there and it was like a welcome to Atlanta.
- 4:47Speaker 3: You know.
- 4:47Speaker 5: You hear all the music videos and all this stuff
- 4:49Speaker 5: about Magic City and then going in there and then
- 4:51Speaker 5: see you and I knew you from the cover alive,
- 4:54Speaker 5: you know what I mean. I'm like that walker And
- 4:56Speaker 5: then for you to even embrace me, you ain't even
- 4:59Speaker 5: know me. I was just a young dude and to
- 5:00Speaker 5: do that it meant a lot.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Yeah, but that was my thing. Man.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I was really one of those dudes that, like I
- 5:06Speaker 3: was a I consider myself a basketball sovnt.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Man.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I followed the game. I'm a student of the game,
- 5:11Speaker 3: but I'm a fan of the game, so I watch everybody.
- 5:15Speaker 3: You know, I'm a part of my family is a
- 5:17Speaker 3: part of the Au circuit, you know, the mac Irvin fire.
- 5:20Speaker 3: So they raised mister Irvan raised me. God rest Is
- 5:22Speaker 3: Soul raised me. So I just followed basketball. It's like
- 5:25Speaker 3: it's been in my DNA for so long. So I
- 5:27Speaker 3: know all the players. I watch, college, high school.
- 5:30Speaker 2: You know, pro.
- 5:30Speaker 3: This is part of my situation when I do every
- 5:33Speaker 3: single day. So when I seen it, I always try
- 5:35Speaker 3: to make sure you know, the young guys can get
- 5:37Speaker 3: take care of. I came in the league at nineteen man,
- 5:39Speaker 3: so I played with a bunch of Vets, Rick Fox,
- 5:43Speaker 3: Dee Brown, Dana Barrows, purvisse Ellison paid So I was
- 5:47Speaker 3: a young gall on the team. So those guys kind
- 5:49Speaker 3: of like and I was nineteen turning twenty, so I
- 5:51Speaker 3: really couldn't do the club.
- 5:53Speaker 4: But they had to really kind of game. Ain't their
- 5:55Speaker 4: way in to get me in.
- 5:56Speaker 3: So it was like one of those things when I
- 5:57Speaker 3: see those guys take me up, take me up under
- 5:59Speaker 3: their arms, showed me how to do it. I always said,
- 6:01Speaker 3: when I become a VET, I'm gonna do the same thing.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Freaky ty. But you know what Chicago people do. Understand Chicago,
- 6:12Speaker 3: we don't have strip clubs, you know, so we don't
- 6:15Speaker 3: get that experience.
- 6:15Speaker 4: So I think that's what it was for me.
- 6:17Speaker 3: When I got to Atlanta, I got to really experience
- 6:20Speaker 3: the strip club like I had heard about Magic City,
- 6:23Speaker 3: heard about it.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Now I'm actually can be able to go to it
- 6:25Speaker 4: whenever I want to. Yeah, I take.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Advantage of that show and that time period. Yeah, that
- 6:32Speaker 3: was actually the crazy part. They had just got back out,
- 6:35Speaker 3: so I missed the first part, so I caught that
- 6:37Speaker 3: second wave when they got back out right around that time,
- 6:41Speaker 3: like they had went in and they got back out,
- 6:43Speaker 3: so number yus was doing it big.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I called imagined it was the first city you went
- 6:47Speaker 2: to a strip club?
- 6:48Speaker 3: Then?
- 6:48Speaker 2: Was it Atlanta?
- 6:50Speaker 4: I went to Atlanta? Dallas too, Dallasallas? Dallas was Dallas
- 6:56Speaker 4: one bad.
- 6:58Speaker 3: That's probably my two favorite cities to have them, Okay,
- 7:02Speaker 3: and then you know every every other city was.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Kind of justself so but when you want to turn up,
- 7:06Speaker 4: it was probably.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yeah for sure. Man, listen, we gotta get to it. Man.
- 7:13Speaker 2: What made you commit to Kentucky? Man?
- 7:16Speaker 4: Jamal Mashburn?
- 7:18Speaker 2: Straight up?
- 7:19Speaker 3: I just kind of loved the way he played. He
- 7:21Speaker 3: kind of mirror my game, you guys. So when I
- 7:24Speaker 3: came out, I was kind of, you know, an au circuit.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I got to play the point one two three. But
- 7:31Speaker 3: in high school, you know, obviously I was like a
- 7:33Speaker 3: four man, so it was a little different. So I
- 7:35Speaker 3: just got an opportunity of Coach Patino came in my
- 7:37Speaker 3: crib and he was showing.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Me the mass burning highlights. He was like, I'm gonna
- 7:40Speaker 4: let you do what he do. I was you know
- 7:43Speaker 4: what I mean.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I could shoot the three. I could be able to
- 7:46Speaker 3: put the ball on the floor handle it. So I
- 7:48Speaker 3: was like, man, this is this is the perfect spot
- 7:50Speaker 3: for me. But it really was because of mass burning
- 7:52Speaker 3: Man because the style of play. I wore twenty four.
- 7:54Speaker 3: He gave me his number, and I was just like
- 7:57Speaker 3: a huge I was a huge fan of his game.
- 7:59Speaker 3: I thought that's the kind of game I could be
- 8:01Speaker 3: like when I came into college. So that's what really
- 8:03Speaker 3: made me pick there. And then obviously the atmosphere and everything.
- 8:07Speaker 3: See I went there, they were only one year fresh
- 8:09Speaker 3: off probation. I don't know if you guys are familiar
- 8:12Speaker 3: when they went on probation, so coach he was just
- 8:15Speaker 3: building it back up to be in the powerhouse. So
- 8:18Speaker 3: that that's what made it special for me though. That
- 8:20Speaker 3: was the reason why I picked it though, I mean
- 8:21Speaker 3: because of the style of playing. Massburn went there.
- 8:25Speaker 2: For shore Man. Uncle rick y'all had a squad to
- 8:27Speaker 2: a d on that team.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Too, Yeah, da transfer we had nin pros.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah that's great.
- 8:33Speaker 5: So yeah, on before you tell me all the pros shit,
- 8:37Speaker 5: you think you're the best Kentucky team.
- 8:39Speaker 4: I think we're the best team ever in collage basketball
- 8:42Speaker 4: walk shit.
- 8:43Speaker 5: But I'm not.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I'm not saying it to be you know, being being biased.
- 8:46Speaker 4: I'm just I'm one.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I would say the Marching of victory, we won, but
- 8:51Speaker 3: like twenty four to twenty five a night, So when
- 8:54Speaker 3: you look at our numbers, you'd be like, oh, he
- 8:56Speaker 3: was cool. But I ain't played the last seven eight
- 8:58Speaker 3: minutes of games, you know what I'm saying. So a
- 9:01Speaker 3: lot of people don't even understand that. That's so our
- 9:03Speaker 3: numbers look a little crazy. I left the team in
- 9:05Speaker 3: minutes at like twenty seven twenty eight minutes a night.
- 9:08Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. Most team, most guys are
- 9:10Speaker 3: playing thirty five thirty six, So our numbers could be
- 9:12Speaker 3: totally different if we got a chance to play. But
- 9:14Speaker 3: most games, but just man, we had nine pros when
- 9:17Speaker 3: I practice, to be honest, was harder than our games.
- 9:19Speaker 4: I'm not gonna even frun.
- 9:20Speaker 2: What's the pros on your team?
- 9:22Speaker 3: Myself, Tony Dill, WALTI McCarty, Derek Anderson, Jeff Shepherd, Mark
- 9:31Speaker 3: Pope read pops right, Uh huh? Jeff Shepherd played in Atlanta.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Mark Pope the head coach. You know, he played four
- 9:40Speaker 3: or five years with Indiana and Denver, and I feel
- 9:44Speaker 3: like I'm missing one more to make the knife one.
- 9:47Speaker 3: They'll probably pop up to me here shortly. But yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 3: we were strong man. Y'all forgot about Scott Pageant, I know.
- 9:54Speaker 2: But so y'all think you better than a book. They
- 10:00Speaker 2: had the two twins, Twins Tylers.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Yeah, they were. They were good. I wouldn't. They had
- 10:07Speaker 4: a squad and they did their thing.
- 10:09Speaker 2: I was, I was.
- 10:11Speaker 3: I want to watch a lot of those games. I
- 10:12Speaker 3: was very supportive for them. And then they have a
- 10:14Speaker 3: book as your six man speaks value, so I'll see
- 10:16Speaker 3: where you at with it. But no, well we've been people.
- 10:22Speaker 1: They should the cold they superstar, especially that time period.
- 10:26Speaker 1: The competition around that time was crazy too. Yeah, but
- 10:29Speaker 1: you got to think about we something different. We think
- 10:30Speaker 1: when you think about us, you think about n LV
- 10:33Speaker 1: at ninety teen. Yeah, the Jordan team, you know what
- 10:37Speaker 1: I mean.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Don't you don't really put that Kentucky team in that
- 10:41Speaker 3: tam because I ain't win put them in the.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Same breakfast as when you talked about that.
- 10:45Speaker 2: So I was.
- 10:46Speaker 3: It's an argument. I mean, I love that you a
- 10:48Speaker 3: team in the nineties. I mean that nineteen ninety two.
- 10:51Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. So it's hard, you know
- 10:53Speaker 3: what I mean that Jordan. I didn't get a chance
- 10:54Speaker 3: to watch a lot of that. You know, Michael, and
- 10:56Speaker 3: they always put Michael them in that conversation m j
- 10:58Speaker 3: M team. But I like us in the ninety team.
- 11:01Speaker 5: And then.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Let's give respect what repect, dude, That Michigan team was tough.
- 11:05Speaker 2: For be freshman.
- 11:07Speaker 4: To be freshman, you gotta like, we gotta get them
- 11:10Speaker 4: that respect.
- 11:10Speaker 2: But y'all y'all better than I give you. Yeah, y'all
- 11:14Speaker 2: blew everybody up. We don't even bring up move Kentucky
- 11:16Speaker 2: teaming them get beat that is too loud.
- 11:19Speaker 4: But they raised my twelve, my twelve, yeah twelve team
- 11:22Speaker 4: and stuff.
- 11:22Speaker 2: That was good. Yeah, but it's quiet. They had to
- 11:25Speaker 2: They was took and that was big too.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Moving those big t Jones Anthony Davis was Yeah, they
- 11:33Speaker 3: had a big team too.
- 11:34Speaker 4: They was loaded.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I'll been good again, But like you said, no, yeah,
- 11:38Speaker 2: we've been.
- 11:39Speaker 3: In the original stretch for.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Before.
- 11:44Speaker 4: I'm gonna tell you it's me stretch for probably me
- 11:48Speaker 4: Derek Coleman.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Q.
- 11:51Speaker 3: She she while was a stretch for but you had
- 11:55Speaker 3: that pity petty though.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Yeah, they couldn't ripe.
- 12:04Speaker 3: We was built the same because it was a lot
- 12:12Speaker 3: of It was a lot of people back then. But
- 12:14Speaker 3: I feel like you was just way more skilled than
- 12:18Speaker 3: everybody just because you had that handle.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Yeah, because I feel like you more of a modern
- 12:24Speaker 3: day player, Like, let me tell you what's funny. So
- 12:25Speaker 3: it's just really a true story. So AU circuit. I'm
- 12:29Speaker 3: on the AU circuit. And just back when they changed it,
- 12:32Speaker 3: when you have to play with your state. You remember
- 12:34Speaker 3: used to go to camp. So my sophomore year, I
- 12:35Speaker 3: went to the Nike All American Camp. They put you
- 12:38Speaker 3: on different teams, you know what I mean. But so
- 12:39Speaker 3: the next year, the n C double A changed the rule.
- 12:42Speaker 3: You have to play with your your actual state and city.
- 12:45Speaker 3: So our point guard that we took, mister Irving, I
- 12:48Speaker 3: don't forget this. The point guard that we took got
- 12:50Speaker 3: hurt first day and mister Irving was like, hre you
- 12:53Speaker 3: the point I'm like what, I ain't never played point
- 12:56Speaker 3: guard in my life. He was like, you're the point man.
- 12:58Speaker 3: About a fifth day, bro, I'm leaving the camp and
- 13:00Speaker 3: assists and scoring and this we loaded like Stephan there
- 13:04Speaker 3: Stephan was right behind me. Felipe Lopez draw Ward. I mean,
- 13:08Speaker 3: it's it's it's it's campus crazy, it's sunny camp. And
- 13:11Speaker 3: that's what took me over the top. Like I went
- 13:13Speaker 3: from like top fifty to I left that top five
- 13:15Speaker 3: in the country and it was it was history after that.
- 13:18Speaker 3: But it was because one of the point guards got hurt.
- 13:20Speaker 3: He just threw me the balls like you know, you
- 13:22Speaker 3: the point, and so I got to play point guard.
- 13:24Speaker 3: So it was it was over after that.
- 13:26Speaker 2: You always dribbling.
- 13:29Speaker 4: I just wanted, yeah, dribble, that was all my thing.
- 13:31Speaker 3: And then when I went to camp with Stepan and
- 13:32Speaker 3: all them, and they were showing me all the tricks
- 13:35Speaker 3: and you know what I mean, like we'd be working
- 13:36Speaker 3: on the dribbling moves.
- 13:37Speaker 4: So I just I started taking a liking to it.
- 13:39Speaker 4: So I just became a big part of my game.
- 13:41Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 13:42Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a true story right there.
- 13:44Speaker 3: But it just threw me the ball, like you know,
- 13:46Speaker 3: you the point at All American Camp, that's like, and
- 13:49Speaker 3: I just perhams. I left the camp for like the
- 13:50Speaker 3: first five day. I ran out of gas though, like yeah,
- 13:56Speaker 3: but it was cold. It gave me opportunity to put
- 13:58Speaker 3: me on a bigger stage. My recruiting went through the roof.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Man I left there. I mean, I was high five
- 14:03Speaker 3: in the country.
- 14:04Speaker 4: It was over.
- 14:05Speaker 5: What's it like playing for Rick Potino? So I got
- 14:07Speaker 5: a story for you. My dad, Rick patino first coaching
- 14:10Speaker 5: job was in Boston University. My dad was on that team.
- 14:14Speaker 5: He was the point guard for bu Rick Patino's first job.
- 14:17Speaker 5: My dad said he was crazy. He said they had
- 14:20Speaker 5: him holding bricks, doing defensive slides, all type of crazy stuff.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Y'all was good. Was he crazy with ye? Yeah, he was.
- 14:27Speaker 4: He was.
- 14:27Speaker 3: He was. He was crazy, but he was a good
- 14:29Speaker 3: crazy if that If that makes sense, you know, he
- 14:32Speaker 3: gonna push you to the match. You gotta work hard.
- 14:35Speaker 3: My first year was was really tough for me. I'm
- 14:37Speaker 3: gonna be honest. I wanted to transfer Christmas now you
- 14:40Speaker 3: get the little Christmas bread. I wanted to leave after that.
- 14:43Speaker 3: But back then, when I came out, you had to
- 14:45Speaker 3: sit out, so I would have to literally sit out
- 14:47Speaker 3: the whole next year. So I was like, man, I can't.
- 14:50Speaker 3: I ain't gonna sit out the whole year. But he's
- 14:54Speaker 3: gonna make you work hard.
- 14:55Speaker 5: Man.
- 14:55Speaker 4: But one thing about him.
- 14:56Speaker 3: He gonna get the best out of You're gonna be
- 14:57Speaker 3: in the best shape of your life, and he's gonna
- 15:00Speaker 3: amaze your talent if you guys even know. Like so
- 15:03Speaker 3: when obviously coached me in college, but when he came
- 15:05Speaker 3: to the pros, I mean, I made I made the
- 15:08Speaker 3: All Star team the first year because he knew.
- 15:11Speaker 4: He moved me from the three. I went to pros.
- 15:13Speaker 3: I played my whole rookie year at small forward my
- 15:16Speaker 3: whole year, so which was cool. But you know that's guarden, Scottie.
- 15:20Speaker 3: You know that's guarding like elite three men in the league.
- 15:23Speaker 4: You know what I mean.
- 15:23Speaker 3: So he moved me to four. He was like, you
- 15:25Speaker 3: moved to the fourth. He was like, you finna have
- 15:27Speaker 3: an advantage on the offensive end. You're gonna have to
- 15:30Speaker 3: woke up a little bit. So I went from like
- 15:32Speaker 3: two twenty five to two forty. Like he was like,
- 15:34Speaker 3: you're gonna guard for us, but we're gonna move you
- 15:36Speaker 3: to the four. You're gonna have your most success. And
- 15:38Speaker 3: that was the best thing for him, and made the
- 15:40Speaker 3: All Star team in ninety eight. Off that that's crazy.
- 15:43Speaker 2: That was good for you.
- 15:44Speaker 3: You can always rebound, so that was that was easy,
- 15:46Speaker 3: get down there and bang.
- 15:48Speaker 4: But I can see it was ability now because I
- 15:49Speaker 4: can dribble, so I can put me in the one
- 15:51Speaker 4: floor at the role.
- 15:52Speaker 3: That's that stretch started spooky going out here on the
- 15:55Speaker 3: stree point line and coach Pete for that. Because I
- 15:57Speaker 3: went to the league as a small four, I was
- 15:59Speaker 3: guarding three and even we won a championship in Miami,
- 16:03Speaker 3: I played all three because you remember you D was there. Yeah,
- 16:06Speaker 3: I gotta remember you D wasting power forward and they
- 16:08Speaker 3: had just went to the Eastern Conference finals when I
- 16:10Speaker 3: signed there.
- 16:11Speaker 4: So Ralphs was like, yo, I played three. He loved you,
- 16:15Speaker 4: d y'all we know that. You know he love you.
- 16:20Speaker 3: So he was like tooth Dings. He was like, yo,
- 16:22Speaker 3: you got a lot of playing three. And he was like,
- 16:25Speaker 3: you got to come off the bench for a little bit.
- 16:28Speaker 3: He's like, So they figured it out because I played
- 16:30Speaker 3: for Stand first. A lot of people know that step
- 16:33Speaker 3: down here. So I was coming off the bench, came down.
- 16:38Speaker 3: He was like, yeah it was ten and ten.
- 16:41Speaker 4: Shaq was hurt. He was like, man, come on down,
- 16:43Speaker 4: I'm coming down fire Stand.
- 16:46Speaker 2: That's crazy, Yeah, that's crazy. What's going on with Jimmy
- 16:51Speaker 2: like for a long time, for a long time, bro
- 16:56Speaker 2: with Jimmy.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Jimmy messed up.
- 16:59Speaker 3: He went to the met don't go to the media
- 17:02Speaker 3: now with Pat Rods now when he got the microphone and.
- 17:05Speaker 4: He got the pinion nah.
- 17:07Speaker 1: And it's funny because they was talking about it like
- 17:08Speaker 1: it was an anonymous quote unquote. They was just like, hey,
- 17:10Speaker 1: one thing you don't do is don't fuck with Pat
- 17:11Speaker 1: Roder because he got none to lose.
- 17:13Speaker 2: And everybody like, what the fuck that means? We came
- 17:14Speaker 2: out seven games suspended. He was like, god damn, what
- 17:18Speaker 2: was that adjustment? Though?
- 17:19Speaker 3: From college to the NBA though at Boston because you
- 17:22Speaker 3: had what you ever was like seventeen or some of
- 17:24Speaker 3: your rook here, yeah eighteen someone like seventeen. It was
- 17:28Speaker 3: hard for me because we were terrible. Man I won.
- 17:32Speaker 4: I don't know if you guys know, Man, I'm won
- 17:33Speaker 4: fifteen games.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I had the worst record. But the best thing for me, Yeah,
- 17:39Speaker 3: but for me is I played for Email car Okay,
- 17:42Speaker 3: so Email was the GM and the head coach of
- 17:45Speaker 3: the team, and basically, you know, after like thirty games,
- 17:49Speaker 3: he was like, you see, we want doing that. He
- 17:51Speaker 3: was like, it's your show, and he just let me play.
- 17:54Speaker 3: So I got a chance to play through one mistakes
- 17:56Speaker 3: and get some real minutes. I mean, sometimes you come
- 18:00Speaker 3: and youn't getting the opportunity to do that. So he
- 18:02Speaker 3: let me play through my mistakes and that's why I
- 18:03Speaker 3: was able. I think I have like seventeen now. Was
- 18:05Speaker 3: they put up some decent numbers. A rookie, that's fire.
- 18:08Speaker 3: I was right behind Ai. You know, y'all know what
- 18:10Speaker 3: a I was over there. Yeah, yeah, I was cooking work.
- 18:13Speaker 3: But they were losing two though, but A I was
- 18:16Speaker 3: cooking too. So me and him ray Allen and that
- 18:20Speaker 3: class too, we're all doing really really good. But yeah,
- 18:23Speaker 3: it was just it was It was hard though, but
- 18:25Speaker 3: I just kind of like because I was just coming
- 18:27Speaker 3: from college. Man, well I just lost six games in
- 18:30Speaker 3: two years. Yeah, I think my first year. I think
- 18:33Speaker 3: my first year we lost four games. At my freshman
- 18:36Speaker 3: year four or five, and then we won a championship.
- 18:39Speaker 3: It was thirty six and two. So I hadn't lost
- 18:41Speaker 3: a lot in the last couple of years. So it
- 18:43Speaker 3: was like trying to stay focused and so they did it.
- 18:46Speaker 3: I was, you know, I have the credit, but I
- 18:47Speaker 3: played for a Hall of Fame staff. A lot of
- 18:50Speaker 3: people don't know that that was connected with the organization.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Dennis Johnson now rest of so he was on the
- 18:55Speaker 3: He was on that staff as well. Casey Jones was
- 18:59Speaker 3: on the staff as well. Tommy Heinsen obviously was calling
- 19:03Speaker 3: the game. So it was a lot of the old
- 19:05Speaker 3: guys read all back was still alive and still coming
- 19:08Speaker 3: to the games. So I was around a lot of traditions.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Jojo White, I'm thinking about everybody that was just in
- 19:13Speaker 3: the gym all the time.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Sorry, it was like so it was cool.
- 19:17Speaker 3: So they was kind of like starting to build it
- 19:19Speaker 3: around a little bit. What was that old ship moment though?
- 19:22Speaker 3: In the NBA, Like who did you metch up with?
- 19:23Speaker 3: It was like, God, damn, this ain't nothing like college man.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Person guard me was Dennis Rodman. He's super strong man,
- 19:32Speaker 3: quick feet. Couldn't really score on him. That was that
- 19:36Speaker 3: was a challenge for me. But guarding, yeah, Tim duncan
- 19:41Speaker 3: Man I the playing power forward, bro, I mean footwork,
- 19:46Speaker 3: big dude.
- 19:47Speaker 4: Got all the moves.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Elite.
- 19:50Speaker 4: You can't. He ain't gonna talk to you. He doing
- 19:52Speaker 4: a hed and giving you no you know, you ain't
- 19:54Speaker 4: getting you nothing.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Back, you know, kills and then my best matchup would
- 19:59Speaker 3: be probably Ticket Me and had some moments so like
- 20:02Speaker 3: especially when I first came in the league because KG
- 20:05Speaker 3: was in Chicago. Well he's not from Chicago. Yeah, so
- 20:07Speaker 3: a lot of people in Chicago loved him for the
- 20:09Speaker 3: one year he came up and played Rounnie Fields. So
- 20:12Speaker 3: me and KG had some battles. We locked Summer League.
- 20:15Speaker 3: It carried over into the real games. But that's the
- 20:18Speaker 3: one guy that we have them two games we played.
- 20:20Speaker 3: We're gonna be special for sure.

- 22:43Speaker 3: To be a part of that, To be a part
- 22:45Speaker 3: of that, even though it's a circus kind of like,
- 22:46Speaker 3: you know what I mean, but it was it was
- 22:48Speaker 3: dope to see him go out the way he did
- 22:52Speaker 3: and to be a part of and the player you know,
- 22:54Speaker 3: sgnificant roll. I got like twenty some minutes that game.
- 22:56Speaker 3: I was like, sure, I was happy about that, you
- 22:58Speaker 3: know what I mean. And it was my first one too.
- 23:00Speaker 3: To be at Massive Square Garden and playing my in
- 23:03Speaker 3: my first game too was special. But it's something I'll
- 23:05Speaker 3: always remember. Man at that locker room, and you know
- 23:07Speaker 3: what I'm saying, I couldn't send in the back of
- 23:09Speaker 3: the bus, you know, imagine on the bus and then like, look,
- 23:11Speaker 3: you can't send in the back of the bus with
- 23:14Speaker 3: the guys. It was just the whole experience was was
- 23:16Speaker 3: was dope to be a part of that and the
- 23:18Speaker 3: sea might go out like that. I liked it better
- 23:21Speaker 3: in ninety eight than when he and I was you know, lucky,
- 23:24Speaker 3: I was party. We could talk about. That was part
- 23:25Speaker 3: of both.
- 23:26Speaker 4: When his last one in Washington was Washington Wizards too.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 23:30Speaker 1: We talked we got to have cag on the show.
- 23:32Speaker 1: He talked about that opening situation with a lot with
- 23:34Speaker 1: him and Kobe. It was just like that was Kobe's
- 23:36Speaker 1: coming out party and were trying to put him against
- 23:37Speaker 1: my It's a legendary moment, especially for the alscer game.
- 23:40Speaker 2: We talk about Howl like Lessard is now.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Then moments help make a lot of Hooper's memories for
- 23:43Speaker 1: like good moments for basketball.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and then you know what's crazy, man, the
- 23:47Speaker 3: guys that you know, it was crazy. Prize money was
- 23:51Speaker 3: not obviously not as big back then, but guys was like, man,
- 23:54Speaker 3: I want this twenty thousand.
- 23:55Speaker 4: You know we're gonna win, We're gonna compete.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Well, these guys now getting two fifty three hund half
- 24:00Speaker 3: million dollars to play, it's different now.
- 24:02Speaker 4: But yeah, so I understand.
- 24:04Speaker 3: I see what they's struggling that because these guys probably understand,
- 24:06Speaker 3: but the money was different. You know, it's different now
- 24:08Speaker 3: you got guys making thirty forty fifty million. They like,
- 24:11Speaker 3: I ain't looking at that.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Like we just talked about that, Like you said, two
- 24:15Speaker 2: hundred and fifty. Now they sneezed at that. Boy, twenty
- 24:17Speaker 2: g's they not even pulling up.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Yeah, but gods, we played gods playing for that prize money, man, man,
- 24:22Speaker 3: like we was in there, they was getting it on.
- 24:24Speaker 3: At least that you knew that second you knew either
- 24:26Speaker 3: knew that third and fourth quarter is gonna be competitive,
- 24:29Speaker 3: even if the first and two wasn't right, but that
- 24:31Speaker 3: third and fourth was gonna be good for sure.
- 24:33Speaker 2: I know we talked, we kind of skipped over we
- 24:35Speaker 2: went to your.
- 24:35Speaker 5: Pro But you was part of the best draft class ever, yes, sir,
- 24:39Speaker 5: and I just wanted to point that out, like you said,
- 24:41Speaker 5: you know, you said Bubba Chuck Iris and being the
- 24:43Speaker 5: first pick and the list goes on. That draft class
- 24:46Speaker 5: was so loaded, Like did you know when you was
- 24:49Speaker 5: part of getting drafted? Did you know, like, man, I'm
- 24:51Speaker 5: with a bunch of killers, or you thought, like man,
- 24:54Speaker 5: I got snubbed that probably should have been a No.
- 24:56Speaker 2: One pick?
- 24:56Speaker 4: Did you now? My draft process was? It was hard.
- 24:59Speaker 4: I went worked out for nine teams, so I worked
- 25:01Speaker 4: out from two to eleven.
- 25:03Speaker 3: I didn't work out for the Toronto Toronto I think
- 25:06Speaker 3: they was picking one, so I didn't work out for them.
- 25:10Speaker 3: But it was hard, like you had to go in
- 25:11Speaker 3: there and I didn't know to the draft day, the
- 25:14Speaker 3: Celtics called my agent was like, look, we're trying to
- 25:16Speaker 3: move up and we're gonna take them. I didn't know
- 25:18Speaker 3: why I was going. But there was some great workouts
- 25:21Speaker 3: because back then I don't know how they do it.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Now you compete it against other guys. So like most
- 25:27Speaker 3: of my workouts, I went in with all the small forwards.
- 25:31Speaker 3: So it was like Charif Me, John Wallace, Tim in
- 25:36Speaker 3: that class, Dante Jones he was at Misissippi State, John Wise, Me,
- 25:42Speaker 3: Waltim McCarty, and my teammate.
- 25:44Speaker 4: So it was like six or seven of us.
- 25:45Speaker 3: So a lot of times you'll come to those workouts
- 25:47Speaker 3: and it'll be four y'all in the same workout.
- 25:50Speaker 4: So and that's what made it different. You were maybe
- 25:53Speaker 4: two teams.
- 25:54Speaker 3: I got to work out by myself, but all the
- 25:56Speaker 3: rest of them was competitive workouts, like you had three
- 25:59Speaker 3: four guys and then you go at it. They throwing
- 26:01Speaker 3: the ball in the middle like one on ones, I
- 26:03Speaker 3: get it on like type of shit like So that
- 26:05Speaker 3: that's what made it really really special. But I had
- 26:08Speaker 3: great workouts. I felt good leaving everywhere. I ain't you know,
- 26:11Speaker 3: I never felt like I didn't have a good workout,
- 26:14Speaker 3: and what I did that was different. Probably I don't
- 26:16Speaker 3: know what guys do now. I never left school, so
- 26:19Speaker 3: I stayed up on the coach Patino, So when I
- 26:21Speaker 3: put my name in the draft, I stayed working out
- 26:24Speaker 3: up under him. So I stayed doing the same workout.
- 26:27Speaker 3: You know, most guys put their name in the draft,
- 26:28Speaker 3: they going to get the car they kick up now. No, no, no,
- 26:33Speaker 3: I stayed locked in like I just stayed right there.
- 26:36Speaker 3: I didn't move until the day after I got drafted.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Then I moved out of Lexton, Kentucky. But before then,
- 26:40Speaker 3: I just stayed locked in. But it was different though.
- 26:42Speaker 3: You had to play like they made you play one
- 26:44Speaker 3: on ones and you get it on. So did you
- 26:46Speaker 3: have a mess up with Sharif in the workout?
- 26:48Speaker 4: No, I didn't play against Sariff.
- 26:50Speaker 3: I was a surprised Sharif because I ain't really know
- 26:53Speaker 3: much about them, you know what I mean, Like the
- 26:54Speaker 3: other guys I knew a lot about because Sharif in
- 26:56Speaker 3: there going three, so he went off the board.
- 26:59Speaker 4: Early, man, you know what, you know what I mean?
- 27:02Speaker 3: It was nice though, it was nice, but then I
- 27:05Speaker 3: was like he went to Van Couver. I was like cool,
- 27:09Speaker 3: I'm like, that's truth.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Far.
- 27:13Speaker 3: I was like cool, I don't want to go there,
- 27:15Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. So it was it was
- 27:16Speaker 3: one of those situations. But it was that that small
- 27:19Speaker 3: for and my group in ninety six was real tough.
- 27:21Speaker 3: But I mean, obviously I'm being low bias, but I
- 27:23Speaker 3: believe you guys really look at the second round picks.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I mean, Steve Nash went thirteen, I mean swept No.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Steve was sixteen. I think Kobe went thirteen. So you
- 27:34Speaker 3: got to really think about that draft was so deep,
- 27:36Speaker 3: and the second round picks were really good players in
- 27:38Speaker 3: the league, you know what I mean, and they helped
- 27:41Speaker 3: teams out, so that that draft was really really good.
- 27:43Speaker 2: I would say it's probably the best draft.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I know.
- 27:45Speaker 5: They would probably say Jordans and them and all those famous.
- 27:48Speaker 3: One to sixties us to go all the way through,
- 27:52Speaker 3: pick out a couple of second round picks. Dudes had
- 27:54Speaker 3: some really good careers. Carry Kettles went eighty.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Socks baby, Yeah, Carry was good. Was loaded.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Yeah, That's what I'm saying.
- 28:01Speaker 3: When you really think about it and you go through it,
- 28:03Speaker 3: you be like, man, it was a lot of good
- 28:05Speaker 3: players in this draft that had impactful NBA careers.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Most definitely, how was it man? You know, so you
- 28:11Speaker 1: get your footing at Boston and then you get your
- 28:13Speaker 1: running mate. Well, wish you allip.
- 28:16Speaker 3: It was cool, man, because see Paul came in a
- 28:19Speaker 3: situation where when coach p first took all his first
- 28:21Speaker 3: draft and then Paul had a chip on his shoulder,
- 28:24Speaker 3: y'all to know Paul supposed to went like three or
- 28:26Speaker 3: four in a draft. He slid the team. Yeah, so
- 28:28Speaker 3: he slid on us like at number ten. So we
- 28:31Speaker 3: coach pe was like, we got to steal and it was.
- 28:34Speaker 4: It was.
- 28:34Speaker 3: It was beautiful, man, because me and Paul, we had
- 28:37Speaker 3: so much respect for each other to begin it, and
- 28:39Speaker 3: our games didn't getting each other way. Yeah, if that
- 28:41Speaker 3: makes sense, you know what I mean, we didn't. You know,
- 28:43Speaker 3: he played different type of games, you know what I'm saying.
- 28:46Speaker 3: So it made it real easy for us. But we
- 28:48Speaker 3: hit it off off the court. I think that's what
- 28:50Speaker 3: I probably our best thing was that me and Paul
- 28:52Speaker 3: became friends early on, started hanging out, started building the rapport,
- 28:56Speaker 3: and that's why we was able to play, you know,
- 28:58Speaker 3: five six years together and you know, obviously we didn't
- 29:01Speaker 3: win a title. We both ended up winning one, but
- 29:03Speaker 3: we had a lot of success. We helped put the
- 29:05Speaker 3: organization at least back in respectful. You need to be
- 29:08Speaker 3: respectful again.
- 29:09Speaker 4: So that was fun. And then the crazy part. We
- 29:12Speaker 4: never argue. Man, we never got in each other way.
- 29:16Speaker 3: And Paul tough. I argue about to Paul all the time.
- 29:18Speaker 3: He won the toughest at that position. The first or
- 29:21Speaker 3: second year that'll had that great record, Yeah had it.
- 29:26Speaker 3: What happened was, you know, so when coach p came
- 29:30Speaker 3: in first year, we only won fifteen games my rookie years,
- 29:34Speaker 3: so we came in, we immediately jumped to thirty something.
- 29:38Speaker 3: We didn't make the playoffs though, but everybody's like, yeah,
- 29:41Speaker 3: we're right there. Then that lockout year happened and we
- 29:44Speaker 3: didn't improve. That was Paul first.
- 29:46Speaker 4: That ninety nine year, like twenty games, I think it
- 29:49Speaker 4: was like fifty two games.
- 29:50Speaker 3: We didn't make no noise. We were bad. And then
- 29:54Speaker 3: the next year is when we took off Coach Pe.
- 29:57Speaker 3: We got out to a bad start. Coach P stepped down,
- 30:00Speaker 3: Jim O'Brien stepped in, Yeah, and then we took off
- 30:03Speaker 3: at one forty nine. Yeah, okay, that was the second year. Yeah,
- 30:06Speaker 3: so it was like really like his second year that
- 30:08Speaker 3: we took off on the on the Jim O'Brien. But yeah,
- 30:11Speaker 3: coach PA, could you know, man, I played with about
- 30:14Speaker 3: fifty dudes.
- 30:14Speaker 4: In two years. You know you can't do that in
- 30:16Speaker 4: the league.
- 30:18Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 30:19Speaker 3: It was a revolving He wanted the press first of all.
- 30:22Speaker 3: That was that was probably the biggest problem.
- 30:24Speaker 2: That's the league. It's crazy.
- 30:26Speaker 3: That's why college coaches don't make it. He wanted the
- 30:28Speaker 3: press because doing that ship to want. So he wanted
- 30:33Speaker 3: the press. That was first of all. It was finding
- 30:36Speaker 3: guys that can really fit into that. And once that,
- 30:39Speaker 3: once that was over, then he wanted to win. You know,
- 30:41Speaker 3: you rebuilding, you know what I'm saying. So his patience
- 30:44Speaker 3: was over. He traded Chauncey Billers bro was our third
- 30:49Speaker 3: PIC said about forty games, are.
- 30:53Speaker 2: You doing.
- 30:56Speaker 3: A little more?
- 30:57Speaker 2: That's like yeah, he was, he was saying, because they
- 31:00Speaker 2: was taking for TIMVD.
- 31:02Speaker 3: But we got three or six three six, we get
- 31:06Speaker 3: and Ron. You know what I'm saying, we rebuilding, We're
- 31:08Speaker 3: building the team. We're going to be good.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Yeah, crazy coach that's my dog. You out of pocket,
- 31:16Speaker 2: betraying cho you first, that would have been insane, bro.
- 31:21Speaker 4: You got to think it was Chauncey, me Ron and Py.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Damn.
- 31:27Speaker 4: He could have been you know what I'm saying.
- 31:31Speaker 3: You know he got patient, But from my understanding, he
- 31:35Speaker 3: probably can tell the story different. He was in you know,
- 31:37Speaker 3: he loved Kenny and because he traded for Kenny, Kenny
- 31:41Speaker 3: was kind of like I think he was. I would
- 31:43Speaker 3: say it was out of prime, but he wasn't prime Kenny. Yeah,
- 31:49Speaker 3: but he always left Kenny from New York, so he
- 31:52Speaker 3: got an opportunity to get Kenny, so he got Kenny.
- 31:55Speaker 3: I think that was from New York stuff they had
- 31:56Speaker 3: going like that. Yeah, but that's that's what made it
- 32:02Speaker 3: special though. But man, yeah, I played with cha man,
- 32:04Speaker 3: I played half the season with.
- 32:08Speaker 4: John What's up?
- 32:09Speaker 2: Out of that would have been Yeah, that's the.
- 32:17Speaker 4: First Danny we got. Brian Stiff.
- 32:20Speaker 2: You wasn't my bro.
- 32:26Speaker 4: It was making me like an old man. What was
- 32:37Speaker 4: more like?
- 32:37Speaker 5: You know, you had your own shoe. Yeah, we had
- 32:40Speaker 5: Jason take them the same thing. It was more what
- 32:42Speaker 5: was better having your own shoe or being on the
- 32:44Speaker 5: cover of the video game.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Wow, that's a great question. I think being on the
- 32:51Speaker 4: cover of Video.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Game Live Too that was a special Live Too.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:57Speaker 3: One of the process of of going through it to
- 32:59Speaker 3: make thinking of it. It wasn't even about the bread
- 33:01Speaker 3: because the bread back then probably what they're paying now
- 33:04Speaker 3: is by quadruple what they're paying the guys now. But
- 33:07Speaker 3: just the fact that I'm gonna be in like twenty
- 33:10Speaker 3: million homes, you know what I mean Like this, that
- 33:13Speaker 3: was like the dopest part about it, making my grid.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Like we bought that game. That was yeah, before two
- 33:22Speaker 2: K that was the last one though, before he was
- 33:27Speaker 2: ninety nine, right.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I still had a run when because remember Georgia came
- 33:33Speaker 1: back on the Wizards.
- 33:34Speaker 2: And all that. I was still playing a lot of.
- 33:37Speaker 1: People, was playing a lot of time, respect now because
- 33:40Speaker 1: K had a run at the beginning on dream but
- 33:42Speaker 1: then Dream CATVI was kind of iffy until about first two.
- 33:46Speaker 3: I don't know, Dreamcasts took over though. Yeah, yeah, respect,
- 33:51Speaker 3: but it was dope, dope the process like putting on
- 33:53Speaker 3: the look, the whole little spandex suit and going through
- 33:56Speaker 3: the moves. Yeah, you know, I really feel like you
- 33:58Speaker 3: gotta know, a part of they're gonna use your moves
- 34:01Speaker 3: and stuff for so I always thank my agent for
- 34:03Speaker 3: that back. I'm like, man, this is one of the
- 34:05Speaker 3: dopest deals you ever got me. You'll be able to
- 34:07Speaker 3: be a part of that and to see where games
- 34:09Speaker 3: are now, you know what I mean. At least I
- 34:10Speaker 3: can go back and through that. I can always show
- 34:12Speaker 3: that little me on the cover. I mean that was
- 34:15Speaker 3: a part of it.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Now, when you when you have on the game, did
- 34:18Speaker 2: you did you pick your team?
- 34:19Speaker 4: No?
- 34:19Speaker 3: I never wanted to play with myself, but we played
- 34:21Speaker 3: that game a lot, my boy, that you know, we
- 34:23Speaker 3: used to play that. That was it.
- 34:24Speaker 4: We played Video Man all the games. That was what
- 34:27Speaker 4: You ain't pick yourself, No, it's hard to pick myself.
- 34:30Speaker 2: I picked myself very single time. Shoot every time. If
- 34:35Speaker 2: I'm on the cover, like yeah, yeah, I'm fifty five
- 34:38Speaker 2: or eight every day, shoot every shot with me, and
- 34:43Speaker 2: I better be a ninety five.
- 34:44Speaker 3: I'm living out my Dreams't put the ship me.
- 34:48Speaker 4: On the game. I didn't know.
- 34:50Speaker 2: That's before graphics got real, before I got real with
- 34:54Speaker 2: a glitch Shippy game.
- 35:00Speaker 4: Uh, I don't even remember doing it like it's doing
- 35:02Speaker 4: it for the game.
- 35:05Speaker 3: To the signature I'm trying to think about it, like now,
- 35:09Speaker 3: I don't think and I had a commercial. They didn't
- 35:12Speaker 3: even use it for the commercial either. Maybe for the
- 35:14Speaker 3: commercial they used it for the commercial.
- 35:17Speaker 5: Did you realize like at that moment you're like, man,
- 35:19Speaker 5: I'm a superstar or was it like still just like
- 35:21Speaker 5: I'm hooping. Man.
- 35:23Speaker 4: My biggest moment was probably outside of one.
- 35:26Speaker 3: You know, we all feel we get drafted, made it,
- 35:28Speaker 3: but outside of that, to be honest, by the All Star,
- 35:32Speaker 3: when I actually got select to All Star, when I
- 35:34Speaker 3: was in that bus bro with all those dudes in
- 35:36Speaker 3: that locker room, and as a fan, you gotta think
- 35:40Speaker 3: I'm looking at Wretchie Miller, I'm looking at you know, Joe,
- 35:42Speaker 3: I'm looking at Tim Hardaway, Alonzo Morning, I'm looking at
- 35:45Speaker 3: all the dudes. I just like every day I'm on
- 35:48Speaker 3: TV watching these dudes, and now I'm in the same
- 35:50Speaker 3: locker room with him, you know what i mean. Larry
- 35:52Speaker 3: Barry was the coach, you know what I'm saying. So
- 35:55Speaker 3: it was just that whole thing. Then I'm in Massive
- 35:57Speaker 3: Square Guard for the game, you know what I'm saying.
- 35:59Speaker 3: So I think that probably was when it like really
- 36:01Speaker 3: hit me, like you know, I really arrived and.
- 36:04Speaker 5: Me and you got the same experience. My first All
- 36:06Speaker 5: Star game was in my only All Star game. It
- 36:08Speaker 5: was in the Madson Square Goer too, and that's how
- 36:11Speaker 5: I had that same feeling. But you kept playing and kept.
- 36:16Speaker 2: I had my moment.
- 36:19Speaker 4: I missed.
- 36:20Speaker 3: I felt like I got snubbed twice, you know what
- 36:22Speaker 3: I mean. The other years I didn't deserve it, but
- 36:24Speaker 3: I felt like it was two other years I should
- 36:26Speaker 3: have made it. But you was like sn at the crib,
- 36:28Speaker 3: like when they're doing on T and T they doing
- 36:30Speaker 3: the revealing you like, man, I knowing for to make it,
- 36:32Speaker 3: make it.
- 36:32Speaker 4: I was a little salted.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Years ago. See d C.
- 36:37Speaker 4: I think they played in d C. I'm trying to
- 36:38Speaker 4: think what year that was.
- 36:39Speaker 3: You was here, right, Yeah, I went well, I played
- 36:44Speaker 3: three and then also the Rookie game in Cleveland. So
- 36:48Speaker 3: my first year I played, made the rookie team. That
- 36:51Speaker 3: was cool in Cleveland because we all none of us
- 36:53Speaker 3: made it, but Kobe. I think Kobe was the only
- 36:56Speaker 3: one that made the real All Star Game. So me
- 36:59Speaker 3: a all us was on just a rookie game for sure.
- 37:03Speaker 3: You talk about that that other you know what I'm
- 37:05Speaker 3: saying George's one.
- 37:07Speaker 2: How was that game? Man?
- 37:09Speaker 4: What the last one?
- 37:14Speaker 2: Said? My nigga two k.
- 37:18Speaker 3: I the last The last one special for me, all
- 37:26Speaker 3: honesty for me personally. That was the year m J
- 37:29Speaker 3: came back. I don't know if you guys familiar, but
- 37:31Speaker 3: when he came back in No. Three, I got a
- 37:34Speaker 3: real I got a phone call that summer and we know,
- 37:38Speaker 3: I kind of like control to run with the pick
- 37:40Speaker 3: up ball where we played that, which is actually right
- 37:43Speaker 3: on the street that we were on, feeling right. But
- 37:46Speaker 3: the thing is, he called me like, yo, block number.
- 37:52Speaker 3: You know, it's like you could call people block and
- 37:54Speaker 3: everything private number, and he's like yo. He's like, yo,
- 37:57Speaker 3: I hear you gotta you know you got the run going,
- 37:59Speaker 3: and I'm thinking about coming back. I'm like, it's like
- 38:02Speaker 3: may Bro, I'm like, I'm about to go on vacation
- 38:04Speaker 3: kicking we locked out the playoffs. He like, I'm trying
- 38:07Speaker 3: to get in the gym, and I need you to
- 38:08Speaker 3: call everybody in the gym and get them in the gym.
- 38:11Speaker 3: I'm trying to come back. So you know, Michael Jordan
- 38:14Speaker 3: tell you that. You know, You're like, man, I'm like, okay,
- 38:17Speaker 3: everything stopped. Now I'm back in the gym, So we stopped.
- 38:22Speaker 3: I called all the guys like, Yo, MJ. Want to
- 38:24Speaker 3: come back, and he wanted everything to be prot He
- 38:28Speaker 3: wanted to work out in the mornings. So we all
- 38:30Speaker 3: used to work out with Tim Grover in the mornings,
- 38:33Speaker 3: lifting there and doing you know, our conditioning with him,
- 38:36Speaker 3: and we played every day at two o'clock. I'm not
- 38:39Speaker 3: talking about man. The gym used to be thirty five
- 38:42Speaker 3: forty pros. Like you lose that you might not get back,
- 38:45Speaker 3: and you may not get back on the court. Like
- 38:47Speaker 3: we used to have to start another court just so
- 38:49Speaker 3: guys can get some working. But everybody wanted to be
- 38:51Speaker 3: on that main court, you know what I mean, going
- 38:54Speaker 3: against him. But he wanted everything to be assimilated to
- 38:56Speaker 3: coming back. So I got an opportunity of a lifetime man.
- 38:59Speaker 3: We and really good friends. I started hanging with him
- 39:01Speaker 3: off the court, spending a lot of time with him,
- 39:04Speaker 3: and the best part was just just competitiveness, man, Just
- 39:07Speaker 3: to see how you work, how hard he work, even
- 39:09Speaker 3: at the age that he was at, and how good
- 39:12Speaker 3: he was, and where I could see the separation to
- 39:15Speaker 3: him and you know, some of the greats and how
- 39:17Speaker 3: he separates hisself determined to win. I mean every day
- 39:21Speaker 3: was a battle, bro, just to talk shit like who
- 39:24Speaker 3: won today? Like you know we're gonna play ten, twelve,
- 39:27Speaker 3: fifteen pickup yans. He want to dominate that, that whole
- 39:29Speaker 3: set he want to he want to dominate that run.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Just to watch how he took that, it just instilled
- 39:36Speaker 3: a lot of me and like the work that you
- 39:37Speaker 3: got to put in to actually win a championship and
- 39:39Speaker 3: to be at the level that he's at. But those
- 39:41Speaker 3: are invaluable years that I would I would never pass
- 39:44Speaker 3: up the two years I got to be with him
- 39:46Speaker 3: and be up under his umbrella and watch him work,
- 39:48Speaker 3: and especially at that age. And I finally got me
- 39:51Speaker 3: one of six, so I was able to talk some
- 39:53Speaker 3: shit back to him. But yes, you know he type
- 39:55Speaker 3: person like you ain't never want nothing, Like if you
- 39:57Speaker 3: ain't want nothing, you can't really talk shit to him
- 39:58Speaker 3: here about winning, Like what's that?
- 40:00Speaker 5: Like, what's those moments like like being with MJ. And
- 40:04Speaker 5: I heard this all the time. I've been around him
- 40:05Speaker 5: sometimes and he just talk a bunch of shit.
- 40:08Speaker 3: I mean, just like us man, he talked big ship,
- 40:12Speaker 3: not a bunch of shit, big shit, But I mean,
- 40:14Speaker 3: how can you argue with it? You gotta, like, you
- 40:17Speaker 3: gotta find every good thing you got going on.
- 40:22Speaker 4: You gotta find everything you can.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Man.
- 40:24Speaker 4: But I'm in surreal moment. You know, you gotta think
- 40:26Speaker 4: about it.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Man.
- 40:27Speaker 3: We all grew up Michael Jordan's fans, man, so to
- 40:29Speaker 3: have an opportunity to be around him, to know him personally,
- 40:32Speaker 3: to know his family, know his kids, and be in
- 40:34Speaker 3: his personal spaces with something that I always appreciated and
- 40:37Speaker 3: always loved and value to this day.
- 40:40Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 40:41Speaker 4: So you don't you don't pass up those opportunities.
- 40:43Speaker 3: And we all did myself, Mike Finley, Juwan, Howard, Ken, Richison, Me,
- 40:48Speaker 3: Bobby Simmons, like all of us, had the opportunity of
- 40:50Speaker 3: a lifetime to be around him on a daily basis
- 40:52Speaker 3: and work out and train with him. And it was
- 40:54Speaker 3: special and it was you know, it was fun memories
- 40:56Speaker 3: man on and off the court.
- 40:58Speaker 1: You talking any younger place is like almost an NBA
- 41:01Speaker 1: or college kids that was around you.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Y'all seen like blossom after those runs A.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Man, Bobby was one. Bobby comes up. Bobby ended up
- 41:10Speaker 3: getting most improved. Well, he started MJ took him to
- 41:13Speaker 3: Washington with him. I don't know if y'all know the story.
- 41:15Speaker 3: So he went to Washington with MJ and then ended
- 41:18Speaker 3: up trading to Milwaukee, and then Bobby ended up turned
- 41:20Speaker 3: into you know, most improved. I think he wants six
- 41:23Speaker 3: man all that stuff. So to see him do that
- 41:25Speaker 3: was one And I think that came from being up
- 41:28Speaker 3: under Mike Tulis. That's me personally from watching it, because
- 41:32Speaker 3: Bobby was always very skilled and MJ kind of like
- 41:36Speaker 3: injected that into him, like you you know, you could
- 41:38Speaker 3: be better, you can be good. So that's the one
- 41:41Speaker 3: guy that kind of you know, sticks out to me,
- 41:42Speaker 3: like right off the top of my head, that that
- 41:44Speaker 3: really benefited from that situation for sure.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I'll start with you in the situation, y'all can both
- 41:49Speaker 1: kind of relate to this, you know, having a base
- 41:51Speaker 1: in a great franchise for a long time and then
- 41:53Speaker 1: switched the teams the first time, you know, saying leaving
- 41:55Speaker 1: Boston the first time the Hawks of the first time,
- 41:57Speaker 1: how is that feeling? Like I feel like you build
- 41:59Speaker 1: something he'll be with is like, all right, now, I
- 42:00Speaker 1: got to move on to start the next chapter in
- 42:02Speaker 1: my career.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Moment like man gonna lie, Man, I'm gonna keep it real,
- 42:06Speaker 3: and I was crowd like a baby like I was.
- 42:08Speaker 4: I couldn't believe I got traded.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Bro.
- 42:10Speaker 3: It was like it was because I felt like we
- 42:12Speaker 3: was just starting to like become one of the you know,
- 42:14Speaker 3: we did looten Eastern Conference Finals. We end up losing
- 42:18Speaker 3: to Jersey, but we caught them New Jersey team when
- 42:20Speaker 3: they were they get to the finals back to back.
- 42:24Speaker 3: But I felt like we was like, you know that
- 42:26Speaker 3: we was right there to like really turn the corner.
- 42:28Speaker 3: So it hurt, like personally by myself, I crowed like, damn,
- 42:31Speaker 3: I ain't want to go nowhere else. You know, if
- 42:33Speaker 3: we had built so much there, we were starting to,
- 42:36Speaker 3: you know, really get to that next level. And then
- 42:38Speaker 3: to get traded. It was tough, but the best thing
- 42:40Speaker 3: for my trade, A lot of people understanding. I got
- 42:42Speaker 3: a chance to go play with three you three great players, man.
- 42:45Speaker 3: I got to play with Mike Finley, Steve Nash and
- 42:48Speaker 3: Dirt Yes sir, and then Antoine Jamieson was our sixth man.
- 42:52Speaker 2: Damn.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Yeah, So you know what I'm saying. So I went
- 42:56Speaker 3: to a situation. Now I knew I was gonna win
- 42:58Speaker 3: where and have to do it all? You know in Boston,
- 43:02Speaker 3: you know, me and Paul felt like we had to
- 43:03Speaker 3: go get fifty five sixty at night. But that team,
- 43:06Speaker 3: I ain't have to do that. We have four five
- 43:08Speaker 3: guys that can get it done. So that was a
- 43:10Speaker 3: different That was different, and there was that was a
- 43:12Speaker 3: good situation, but we just ran into that Sacramento team.
- 43:14Speaker 4: Man, that last Sacramento run, y'all remember that last well,
- 43:20Speaker 4: Mike Bibbie all, we ran to that last run.
- 43:23Speaker 3: So we couldn't win. Get over that hump. But that
- 43:25Speaker 3: was so I got traded to a safe I would
- 43:27Speaker 3: say a safe space. Well, you know, sometimes you can
- 43:30Speaker 3: go to a situation. You'd be down in Memphis at
- 43:34Speaker 3: that time, there was bad. I could have went back
- 43:37Speaker 3: to Atlanta with oh you know what I'm saying. I
- 43:40Speaker 3: could have went to a bad situation. But I went
- 43:42Speaker 3: to a winning situation. So I think that was That's
- 43:45Speaker 3: what helped me out a lot.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Did you see that potential in Dirk?
- 43:49Speaker 4: Yeah, he was tough.
- 43:51Speaker 3: I don't know if I saw m v P no
- 43:53Speaker 3: Dirk at that time, but I saw the skill set.
- 43:56Speaker 3: The game was changing over when the big man can
- 43:58Speaker 3: shoot the three step out because Dirk don't really got
- 44:02Speaker 3: a lot to shake me down handle. Everything is puffed
- 44:04Speaker 3: fake here, fake and he legit seven feet so he's
- 44:08Speaker 3: getting it off, you know, with his arc and everything.
- 44:11Speaker 3: So but you can see it though he was starting
- 44:13Speaker 3: to get as tough as him and Steve Nash had
- 44:15Speaker 3: a great, you know, chemistry together, so we had to
- 44:18Speaker 3: figure like, I had to figure out how to play
- 44:20Speaker 3: with them more so than you know what I mean,
- 44:23Speaker 3: them have to figure out to play with me. I
- 44:24Speaker 3: have to like get in the corner, get some cuts,
- 44:26Speaker 3: back door cuts. You gotta like figure it out because
- 44:29Speaker 3: everything was going through those two guys.
- 44:31Speaker 2: A lot of people don't know. For the young people
- 44:33Speaker 2: watching this, Michael Finley was a dog.
- 44:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Michael Strong too, Michael Michael was. Mike might
- 44:38Speaker 3: have been the second league score because you know, Nash
- 44:41Speaker 3: is more like a fifteen to fifteen type of guy.
- 44:43Speaker 4: But I think Mike was the second league scorre on
- 44:45Speaker 4: that team.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Squawk Yeah.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Is good. And we had Travis Best to y'all know,
- 44:53Speaker 4: Travis Bes was nice too.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, shot killer.
- 45:00Speaker 5: So we had.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Lessend some games though. We underchieved though, losing the first
- 45:07Speaker 3: round was underachievement. Yeah, you know what I mean, So
- 45:10Speaker 3: that we never got it, got a chance to see
- 45:12Speaker 3: it out. And then obviously y'all know what happened the summer.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Steve Nash went the Phoenix. Yeah, broke that up real quick.
- 45:17Speaker 3: That was necessary though, that was necessary. Yeah, Mark Cuban
- 45:21Speaker 3: dropped the ball.
- 45:21Speaker 2: On them, but he got Phoenix necessary.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Yeah that's that. That's It's crazy, how like it could
- 45:32Speaker 3: change in months. But yeah, he he left, and so
- 45:34Speaker 3: that next year was your last year.
- 45:36Speaker 4: No, I played.
- 45:40Speaker 3: My last year in the league. No, no, no, I'm
- 45:43Speaker 3: talking about the Dallas Yeah, was like, yo, I gotta
- 45:48Speaker 3: get a point guard. I got traded for Jason Terry.
- 45:51Speaker 2: That's how you came to the Yeah, he came and
- 45:53Speaker 2: blessed the city.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I got trade up for Jason Terry. That's how
- 45:58Speaker 3: Jason Terry ended up there. And then I went and
- 46:01Speaker 3: played half the year. And like I was telling y'all earlier,
- 46:02Speaker 3: in the Cats, man we was terrible. So I was like,
- 46:06Speaker 3: man so And the funny part about it, the selfish
- 46:09Speaker 3: called me. So I was still really good friends with
- 46:11Speaker 3: the equipment manager and people in the front office. So
- 46:15Speaker 3: me and Danny Ainge. We you know, we had some
- 46:17Speaker 3: words and the paper and everything, so we weren't doing
- 46:19Speaker 3: them the same page. So they was like, yo, would
- 46:22Speaker 3: you come back? I was like, I was like, commediately,
- 46:27Speaker 3: please come, please come get me out here. Next thing,
- 46:30Speaker 3: you know, bro on the West coast. They called me
- 46:32Speaker 3: and was like, man, they traded back for me. So
- 46:34Speaker 3: it was different from me because Doc was the coach.
- 46:36Speaker 3: So I think I want to say, I don't know
- 46:38Speaker 3: if it was doc first year, well, if it was
- 46:40Speaker 3: the second, well five, yeah, it was Doc first year
- 46:44Speaker 3: with the selfis or the second. I think it was right,
- 46:48Speaker 3: but it was dope because they were like five or
- 46:52Speaker 3: six games of the five hundred, and we won like
- 46:54Speaker 3: twelve out of thirteen. We took off and ended up
- 46:57Speaker 3: being the three seed and got upset by the pace
- 47:00Speaker 3: are you boys?
- 47:04Speaker 4: Yeah yeah us in seven games.
- 47:06Speaker 3: They gave me the fake suspension fighting Jamaine on there,
- 47:09Speaker 3: the fake fight like all that. That's crazy, man, like yeah,
- 47:14Speaker 3: that was That's how I went. And then I didn't
- 47:16Speaker 3: And then that summer I didn't sign back. The felt
- 47:19Speaker 3: just kind of low ball me and Miami offered me
- 47:21Speaker 3: more money. Signed with Miami is it true.
- 47:24Speaker 2: When you get to Miami, it's a real coaching like
- 47:28Speaker 2: that body fat.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Yeah. I had my run as bro. Yeah, I ain't
- 47:31Speaker 4: gonna lie man.
- 47:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:34Speaker 3: So the first time I get there, So when I signed,
- 47:37Speaker 3: he's like he came, he brought me in. So I
- 47:39Speaker 3: played at like probably two between two fifty five two sixty.
- 47:43Speaker 3: He was like, uh, I need you a two fifty
- 47:47Speaker 3: and ten percent body fat. You got thirty days, Like
- 47:51Speaker 3: it's like you got you know, because training camp start,
- 47:53Speaker 3: so it's like you need to get down here, figure
- 47:56Speaker 3: it out. I need just that's why I want you
- 47:58Speaker 3: at opening night. So I basically had two months to
- 48:02Speaker 3: get there and give you a break until one s
- 48:05Speaker 3: the season start.
- 48:05Speaker 4: You got to weigh in every Monday. Every Monday you
- 48:08Speaker 4: got a way in.
- 48:09Speaker 3: So he gave you a number, so your number may
- 48:10Speaker 3: be like I said, had to be between two forty
- 48:13Speaker 3: eight two fifty two at that time, and then I
- 48:15Speaker 3: had to be a ten percent body fat. So you
- 48:18Speaker 3: got to be weigh in every Monday. You gotta be
- 48:20Speaker 3: at those numbers. If you don't, you get fine.
- 48:23Speaker 2: That's crazy. Hell check it would.
- 48:28Speaker 4: I mean it was cool.
- 48:29Speaker 3: I had one episode that I that we didn't come in,
- 48:32Speaker 3: but it was me Posy and shot Bro Like y'all
- 48:35Speaker 3: know how skinny Posey is, how pos they make his Yeah,
- 48:39Speaker 3: but Pa was he was in one of the moves.
- 48:40Speaker 3: So I got suspended once for like three games. But yeah,
- 48:44Speaker 3: he was on it every week. He used to be
- 48:46Speaker 3: on it. That was a that was that was like
- 48:48Speaker 3: a pet peeve with here.
- 48:49Speaker 2: So you got suspended if you didn't make that like
- 48:51Speaker 2: that was.
- 48:51Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I got suspended three games for it my
- 48:53Speaker 3: first year of my second year, I did. Yeah, we
- 48:57Speaker 3: got suspended. He used to finest it. I forgot his story. Yeah, yeah,
- 49:01Speaker 3: with the baby.
- 49:02Speaker 4: But Shack, if you have a shock, tell your story, Shack.
- 49:06Speaker 3: I always held so Shack when we played with three,
- 49:08Speaker 3: like three twenty yeah, if you ever look at it.
- 49:11Speaker 3: But Shack say he played in the Lakers at three seventy. God,
- 49:15Speaker 3: that's what that's what he says. I mean, I don't
- 49:17Speaker 3: know how true it is, but Shack say he played
- 49:19Speaker 3: with the Lakers at three seventy.
- 49:25Speaker 2: Three seventy might be three.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Shack was m v P. Yeah, so he won the
- 49:34Speaker 3: multiple a couple of times at that way. Yeah, at
- 49:37Speaker 3: that way. So yeah, him and Shock used to bump
- 49:40Speaker 3: hands A little bit about that, Yeah, a little bit,
- 49:42Speaker 3: he said. He's skinning about about that though. He said,
- 49:45Speaker 3: well I put that baby on me.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Smooth, smooth, cooler, that's right, he got.
- 49:51Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, right off.
- 49:56Speaker 4: With you did?
- 49:59Speaker 3: You should have you should have got damn jobs. I
- 50:03Speaker 3: was like, I was like eight point two or something.
- 50:05Speaker 3: I wasn't like off man, I was, Man, I changed
- 50:07Speaker 3: my life for that.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Yo?
- 50:08Speaker 4: Why had full time cook? I was eating good like
- 50:11Speaker 4: you had to, like you got to buy in. Yeah,
- 50:13Speaker 4: like you got a buy in to keep it up.
- 50:15Speaker 5: So like I mean me, when I went to Miami,
- 50:17Speaker 5: you know, were going out, We're going to see Booby
- 50:19Speaker 5: Trap whatever it is Live like living there and playing
- 50:22Speaker 5: there and knowing that you got a body fat thing
- 50:24Speaker 5: every Monday?
- 50:25Speaker 2: What's that like? Do y'all go out?
- 50:27Speaker 1: Man?
- 50:28Speaker 4: We did.
- 50:31Speaker 3: I ain't gonna lie. I'm gonna tell you this. The
- 50:33Speaker 3: staying room became my best friend. The staying room like
- 50:36Speaker 3: that was that was a big part of my resume.
- 50:38Speaker 3: But yeah, we have to go out, man, How you're
- 50:39Speaker 3: gonna not go out? We're in Miami's And then you know,
- 50:42Speaker 3: I was in Miami when Live first started and it
- 50:45Speaker 3: was just getting popping, like everybody was just starting to
- 50:47Speaker 3: come there, and then it's to be turned up. I
- 50:50Speaker 3: tell people, I never partied and played basketball bro like
- 50:53Speaker 3: that in my life. I went to Miami. Can't help it, man,
- 50:56Speaker 3: it's eighty five degrees outside chain ready, fifteen eighty five.
- 51:00Speaker 4: You know everybody in town. So I had to discipline myself.
- 51:04Speaker 3: So I started doing like this, like and then you
- 51:06Speaker 3: got friends on every team, so everybody call you like
- 51:09Speaker 3: and they don't care about They don't even care about.
- 51:13Speaker 3: Miami got the best secret in the world home court events.
- 51:17Speaker 3: They don't even care. They call it like, Yo, I
- 51:19Speaker 3: want to get out, so you gotta go out.
- 51:21Speaker 4: That's the night.
- 51:21Speaker 3: I don't drink, though you're gonna I'm gonna go out.
- 51:23Speaker 3: I'm gonna take you out, but I ain't gonna drink
- 51:25Speaker 3: that night. I'm gonna try not drink that night, wait
- 51:28Speaker 3: till they gone.
- 51:29Speaker 2: That was Atlanta though.
- 51:30Speaker 5: Everybody, especially the West Coast teams, they come for that
- 51:34Speaker 5: one game that year. Everybody be drunk everything. Next day
- 51:37Speaker 5: we knew he was gonna beat your about twenty.
- 51:39Speaker 4: Oh yeah, you definitely got oh definitely. They don't get wasted.
- 51:43Speaker 3: Everybody that's the only thing about a tough part about
- 51:47Speaker 3: playing that you got to have discipline. You have to
- 51:49Speaker 3: discipline yourself something. It's just nice every day. Man, you
- 51:52Speaker 3: know you're coming out of practice eighty five degrees because
- 51:55Speaker 3: it's hard. You play good in Miami though, Yeah, I
- 51:58Speaker 3: try like twelve thirty yeah, something like that. But you
- 52:02Speaker 3: know I caught I caught the prime D way. Yeah
- 52:05Speaker 3: that the way that was thirty six.
- 52:09Speaker 2: S.
- 52:10Speaker 3: That's the greatest finals ever, Bro.
- 52:11Speaker 4: I caught the active D way.
- 52:13Speaker 2: You think that's the greatest finals the way you know, we.
- 52:16Speaker 3: Talk ship, we love you the way you know what
- 52:18Speaker 3: I mean. You can't, folks, but that his finals performance
- 52:23Speaker 3: is the greatest of all time, bro.
- 52:24Speaker 2: And better than dirt. Yes, that's tough.
- 52:28Speaker 3: The way average I might be off.
- 52:31Speaker 4: You know, I'm gonna give me you out. Yeah study
- 52:33Speaker 4: five oh too, so yeah right.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Miami and shout out to Twine and them. But he
- 52:41Speaker 3: this old school. Now, everybody was like, I.
- 52:47Speaker 4: Like the Wade and there's two other ones I liked.
- 52:50Speaker 4: I thought was special, that.
- 52:53Speaker 3: Old school one m J against Phoenix with something special
- 52:57Speaker 3: and then honest, but.
- 53:00Speaker 2: You bro, I just missed the first game. He was
- 53:06Speaker 2: kell throw whole that the whole. He was terrible before that.
- 53:10Speaker 5: Bron.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Oh that makes I would love to see that's the best.
- 53:21Speaker 4: To come back.
- 53:22Speaker 3: But I think the n b A is really got.
- 53:25Speaker 3: I gotta rethink that I forgot about Bron and d
- 53:29Speaker 3: Wade was ill. Bro No he was saying, he said,
- 53:32Speaker 3: but I'm just saying that Bro him averaging that like
- 53:35Speaker 3: on that team, Bro as such a young his yea
- 53:38Speaker 3: third year in the league. Bro and willing, y'all to
- 53:41Speaker 3: the final there, Bron.
- 53:43Speaker 1: And what's so far about your team? I had a
- 53:45Speaker 1: lot of like savvy and good Jay Will what that
- 53:48Speaker 1: will point?
- 53:50Speaker 4: Yeah, Jake Will was good? What was good for d Wade?
- 53:52Speaker 3: And now that people don't know this was g P
- 53:55Speaker 3: say g GP was older and what's the same GP?
- 53:59Speaker 3: But g he allowed d Wade not to have to
- 54:02Speaker 3: guard the main score the two guards. GP guarded them.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Like a lot of people don't know that that GP
- 54:07Speaker 3: closed most of the games out. Jay Will obviously started
- 54:10Speaker 3: and everything, but GP closed a lot of the games out,
- 54:14Speaker 3: so d Wade didn't have to guard at the two spots.
- 54:17Speaker 3: GP would guard those guys and Posey Posey was really good,
- 54:22Speaker 3: you know, guarded uh, Guarden perimeter guys too. So that's
- 54:25Speaker 3: that's what it was special about that team, d Way
- 54:27Speaker 3: who was able to protect him where he could be
- 54:29Speaker 3: him on offense. So what was your game plan for Dirk?
- 54:34Speaker 3: Let them see different looks you d started on them.
- 54:38Speaker 3: I got him post guard him, let them see like
- 54:41Speaker 3: four or five different guys. It didn't really it didn't
- 54:43Speaker 3: really work. He still had a great series. But you know,
- 54:46Speaker 3: you know how you can get used to one guy Guarden.
- 54:48Speaker 3: You know, we wanted to make sure he saw different bodies,
- 54:50Speaker 3: different looks, you know what I mean. Like you you
- 54:53Speaker 3: know he's smaller, you d like six six six seven.
- 54:55Speaker 3: You gonna do a lot more fun, go in front
- 54:58Speaker 3: him a lot more than they maybe I will, Yeah,
- 55:00Speaker 3: you know what I mean. And so it's just like
- 55:01Speaker 3: posy Obviously, you can't put on the floor poles hand,
- 55:05Speaker 3: so we gave him a lot of different looks. I
- 55:07Speaker 3: think that was our that was our advantage for him.
- 55:09Speaker 3: They still played great though, he still put up some numbers.
- 55:12Speaker 3: But and it was good for the guys too, because
- 55:15Speaker 3: everybody have to have that assignment by theirself. Sometimes you
- 55:18Speaker 3: gotta take that punching by yourself.
- 55:22Speaker 2: I had d rof. Nobody else switched off on them.
- 55:26Speaker 2: V I'm damn switch you first time ever played in
- 55:32Speaker 2: the playoffs?
- 55:32Speaker 4: Really oh wow?
- 55:34Speaker 2: Yeah, they didn't want to switch nothing, but it's all good.
- 55:37Speaker 5: I was gonna ask you because I was a part
- 55:39Speaker 5: of a championship team. We ain't had no after party.
- 55:44Speaker 5: We wanted chick People went home with their families ate
- 55:46Speaker 5: chicken nuggets like that. What did it y'all do when
- 55:49Speaker 5: y'all want it?
- 55:51Speaker 3: So we went in Dallas, which is not good, but okay,
- 55:54Speaker 3: we wanted to die. So Pat Rowles he went out,
- 55:57Speaker 3: wanted the ballroom. So yeah, guys had their family. So
- 55:59Speaker 3: we start party in there, DJ food. Everybody was kicking
- 56:04Speaker 3: it and then we told ers want to go home.
- 56:07Speaker 3: We want to go to Miami. So we ended up
- 56:11Speaker 3: leaving like six in the morning. A lot of people
- 56:13Speaker 3: don't know that. We flew back at six in the
- 56:14Speaker 3: morning the next that morning, after partying, I was like, everybody,
- 56:18Speaker 3: get their stuff, pack your bag, leave your family here.
- 56:20Speaker 4: They got to get home.
- 56:21Speaker 3: We're gone, and we went with at Miami. We did
- 56:24Speaker 3: uh we did Kings of Diamonds, man, damonds, it was diamonds.
- 56:28Speaker 3: I'm sorry it was called Diamonds. We went the Diamonds
- 56:31Speaker 3: the next night. We spent about one fifty in that
- 56:35Speaker 3: Bro the singles, but it was all of us though.
- 56:38Speaker 2: You know what that looked like.
- 56:40Speaker 4: Yeah, we was on the stage with the dance.
- 56:45Speaker 2: One jersey crazy Yo.
- 56:54Speaker 4: We went.
- 56:55Speaker 3: We partied right there, Bro, and then for me personally,
- 56:58Speaker 3: I left them after the ray, I went on my
- 57:01Speaker 3: thirty day hiatus.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Bro.
- 57:03Speaker 4: I went thirty days, thirty nights. I at the fool.
- 57:08Speaker 2: I thought I was going to get.
- 57:09Speaker 4: Right right.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Man.
- 57:15Speaker 3: I grabbed my boy from grabbed my boy Joe from college.
- 57:17Speaker 3: I'm like, YO, were finish hit it. So I started
- 57:20Speaker 3: in Chicago, had a draft party, I mean, had a
- 57:22Speaker 3: championship party in Chicago, and took off. I just hit
- 57:25Speaker 3: all the hot cities. Bro went on tour after I
- 57:27Speaker 3: went on too far and I was supposed to met
- 57:29Speaker 3: the team care how crazy it was, so we got
- 57:32Speaker 3: you know, when you win it, you get it back
- 57:33Speaker 3: to the espis. So we're supposed to be the champion
- 57:35Speaker 3: team to go to ask me, Bro, I got alcohol poison.
- 57:38Speaker 3: I killed myself. I couldn't even I couldn't even make it.
- 57:41Speaker 3: I'm in la in the bed at the esp couldn't
- 57:44Speaker 3: even get couldn't even make it with the guys. Man,
- 57:46Speaker 3: I missed asks that year? Was it was that day
- 57:49Speaker 3: twenty five, my day twenty because you was like, I
- 57:57Speaker 3: was like, like day twenty I.
- 57:59Speaker 2: Try to go.
- 57:59Speaker 4: Third day, I'm not frin I try to. I ain't never.
- 58:03Speaker 3: I won't want to calls here pro bo. You couldn't
- 58:05Speaker 3: tell me nothing. Remember that's song the champions here. I
- 58:09Speaker 3: have a DJ, I get him a hunted.
- 58:12Speaker 2: The champions here.
- 58:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that was my thing right there. Man, I had
- 58:18Speaker 3: a ball boy. I never won a championship the NBA chip.
- 58:22Speaker 3: I have to hear all them stories. Man, I enjoyed
- 58:24Speaker 3: myself and everybody else did I know what I did?
- 58:28Speaker 1: Y'all squad had a lot of people who was looking
- 58:30Speaker 1: for that first raade too, So that was super up
- 58:31Speaker 1: to see how y'all sell situation? Man.
- 58:33Speaker 3: Probably Elizo probably was what's the happiness all for? Man,
- 58:37Speaker 3: there's a lot of people don't know, and I'm surprised
- 58:40Speaker 3: nobody ever talked about it. You know, to see him, bro,
- 58:42Speaker 3: he was taking like eighty pills a day to make it,
- 58:44Speaker 3: you know, because for his kid and getting strong. So
- 58:47Speaker 3: to watch him every day. You know what I'm saying.
- 58:48Speaker 3: I had to take the pills and go through all
- 58:50Speaker 3: of the treatment he had to do just to play
- 58:52Speaker 3: that Season's special for him, like you know, for all
- 58:55Speaker 3: of us to see him actually get one. Uh, that's
- 58:58Speaker 3: what I really felt it for because and a lot
- 59:01Speaker 3: of us would have just retired a lot of people
- 59:03Speaker 3: when they went through that challenge their health and they
- 59:06Speaker 3: and doing their health in that situation to play basketball.
- 59:09Speaker 3: And he was obviously a big part of our team
- 59:11Speaker 3: and what we were doing that year. So to see
- 59:13Speaker 3: him go through that and get one for him, it
- 59:15Speaker 3: was speciale as fire man, Yeah, the man he meant
- 59:20Speaker 3: to be used to take them pills like skilled. Was like,
- 59:22Speaker 3: I'm like, he's got to take like forty fifty pills
- 59:24Speaker 3: a day to keep his numbers. After the game we
- 59:28Speaker 3: all leave and he back there with the training with
- 59:30Speaker 3: the doctor making sure it's numbers right. They can leave
- 59:33Speaker 3: like you know, that's out the games and stuff like that.
- 59:35Speaker 3: So that was especially a part of that guy with
- 59:39Speaker 3: quick y can't take it till now. It's crazy to
- 59:46Speaker 3: see him to see him come back, man, to see
- 59:48Speaker 3: him be a part of that and play the huge
- 59:49Speaker 3: part and what he did the game shot.
- 59:53Speaker 4: Yeah, that was that was That was the one guy
- 59:55Speaker 4: that was special to see him enjoy that championship for sure.
- 59:58Speaker 2: Man, we talk about you a of the game.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Who are some young players from Madre your game or
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: some of the young players you rock with out right now.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Right now in the league. I ain't gonna lie. I
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: love watching He's not I mean, don'ta play the same position.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: But I'm loving watching Anthony Edwards right now. I tuned
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: it to him every night, every time I get a chance. Obviously,
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: you know I'm a little biased, but I love them boys,
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Yes, sir, you know, watching
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: them especially over the last couple of years and getting
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: to know them personally being around an organization. I love
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: what they're doing up there. And then I still I'm
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: still I'm still honest fan, man, I still I still
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: like Joannis.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: I still like when Jannis is doing it in Milwaukee.
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: People get bored with great and it's kind of because
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: even though the same thing, and then.
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: The regular guys, you know what I mean, I still
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: appreciate KD.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: You know what I mean, what he's doing on a
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: daily basis and obviously, I know they're not having as
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: much you know, team success, but you know, I'm a
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: little biased to guys at six eight to sixteen that
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: can you know, shoot it, put it on the floor.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: Kind of my favorite guys. I'm starting to fall in
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: love now. We call Anthony Towns man over the last
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: two years, you know what I mean, the way he's
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: transformed his game now and mixing and matching, you know,
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: with the three and going inside now.
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: So I'm loving what he's doing over the last couple
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: of years.
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: So I'm I'm them the guys I like watching him
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: tune then too is the guys that you know that
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: are versatile, and I mean, I think for this game now,
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: I do still believe the point guard opposition is the toughest.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: I think every night you don't get you don't get
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: a night off. You think the league's in your hands
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: though post Lebron and then when they've done hang it up. Yeah,
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: because I think it's more balanced. I think even if
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: you look at the records now, it's no real no
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: complete domination, you know what I mean, you ain't got nobody,
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: you know, I know a couple of team's got decent records,
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: but you ain't got nobody really dominating the league where
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: you know they're gonna be. It was a one stretch
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: and you guys knew that. We knew Golden State and
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Cleveland's gonna be. I mean that stretch, we knew no
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: matter what went on, we knew Lebron was coming out
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: the East, and we knew nobody be. You don't think
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: Boston got a landslide over everybody. I do, but I
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: think they vulnerable. Obviously, I am biased. I do believe
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: they got gonna I like the I like the additions
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: they made. I like they said their first seven to
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: eight guys are really good. I think Jason Tatum has
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: a chip on the shows. I think if he could
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: win a chip this year after how the thing happened
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: in the Olympics, I think would be speak values because
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: I know he would have to play a big part
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: in them to actually win it. But it's just I
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: think it's I think it's more balanced. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: I think which is good for the league. I don't
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: I'm not a big fan of the end season tournament.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: I'm a little old school. I know sometimes people say that,
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: but I like the ground of the A two game season,
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: and and I think, you know, when you start putting
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: the money emphasis that just for the tournament, I think
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: it still devalues it, you know what I mean, Because
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: that's what it's really fun. Guys like, Okay, well I
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: ain't get half menon I won a part of that,
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: you know what I mean. I don't the guys are
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: taking it as serious, But I like I like the
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: ay two game season grind man.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: I like the original way. And that's just ground for
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: eighty two.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: Who can stay healthy, who can put together they runs,
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: who can stay focused.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: I like that, And that's one thing people discount a lot.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: It's just like, well, it ain't always the best team
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: to wins. The team that's most healthy will. That's a
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: part of like playing the eighty two game season is
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: you have to do all these things to win.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: It's not easy to win a championship. Yeah.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: And then but then you watch the tournament and then
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: you see some of the guys that eleventh to fifteenth
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: man get a extra half million, you feel real good,
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. So that's the part that
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: you love about it because those guys, you know, guys
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: making the league minimum and stuff like that, so you
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: feel good for those guys. So it's nice in that sense,
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: But just as a basketball guy, I still like the
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: eighty two game season ground. I do like cutting the
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: preseason down. Those games don't mean anything. So it's different now.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: I remember you used to go to training camp.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: Bro.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: It should be twenty two to twenty three guys in camp,
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: so you can actually be your guys a day off,
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: your main guys. Now guys are coming to training camp
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: with just their their right So that's why I think
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: it makes it. You know, it's a little different now
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: they ain't bringing twenty two to twenty three guys to
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: training camp no more.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: I was gonna Actually, I know you had a quote
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: and they actually why you shoot so many threes?
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: And you said, because it's no force. How do you
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: feel about the league now? Like Loston shooting that's one
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: of the hardest quotes I've ever seen. But on average,
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: I'm gonna shoot forty eight to fifty three.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: Is a game?
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I just it's just shot sixty nine.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: So how do you feel like being a guy who
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: said it was enough?
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: I see I'm hating Bro for real.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: Yeah, because Bro, I took so much punishment no, two
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: years back to back. I think I led at the
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: league in three point attempts and now used to kill me.
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: They killed me. The media would kill me.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: I think I shot like six hundred and something twice
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: and they I would get negative write ups about it.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: And now I see it now it's such a big
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: part of the game. It's like the championship team is
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: like their biggest weapon, you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: in that sense, no, you be hating like that. And
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: then I wanted like that, but I could play this
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: damn era. I probably left one hundred meal on the
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: table for sure. You know, I left money on the
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: table if I could play in this era. So I'll
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: be hating in that sense.
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: But I like it. I mean, it just depends. I
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: think it can get a little carried away.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: I do hate the fact that nobody's posting up like
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: nobody's posting up, yeah, and that that I do hate
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: that part because we did have some great low post players,
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: guys that can post up everybody.
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, you used to have good playguards that
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: can post up. Nobody wants to post up.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: Mark Jackson.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: I do hate that part of it, that we don't
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: have no guys though I was a part of it. Yeah,
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: but I look at but I see I called Anthony
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: Towns and I see other big guys making threes and
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: then beg part of it.
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: I feel good.
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: I'd be like, yeah, I mean you get to see
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: that because you see more guys being able to step
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: outside and make it.
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: I mean, shit, look at Wombi crazy five.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: Well he's made in the change and you see I mean,
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: obviously we know Pop has been sick, but whoever thought
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: we'll see a guy on Pop team shooting fifteen three?
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: Never thought I'd see that straight up.
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: I wanted to ask you to, like, who was your
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: favorite teammate man your whole career? Who was that guy
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: that you was my favorite favorite teammate man man?
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: Probably Paul, Yeah, because we got to spend the most
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: time together.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: We went through that grind trying to get the Celtis
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: back to respectability. But I think it more importantly, me
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: and Paul hung out a lot off the court, And
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: you guys know this, and Jeff, you know that a
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: lot of guys sometimes we be teammates, but you don't
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: really hang out tick it. But me and Paul got
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: to really spend a lot of time together our families.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: Paul will obviously come up here and support me in
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: anything I'm doing. I'm gonna support him, and so we
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: built a real special bond, so that that's probably my favorite.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: That's why, like a lot of people give me a
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: hard time, even like the Wade when they asked y'all
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: remember the comparison between him and d Wade and stuff like.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: That's tough for me because I mess with the Wade
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: from the crab, good friend, but then being Paul like brothers,
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, So it makes it hard.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: So I was just that much respect for him, but
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: just the grind, the ground we went through every day.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: Man was specially trying to and get that story franchise
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: back to respectability. And it's crazy now we don't see
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: each other a lot, but we in Boston together and
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: picked right back up, you know what I'm saying, Like clockwork,
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: how did y'all go about?
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Like?
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: Who?
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: Like I know you say, y'all games never gotten away
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: of each other. But was it like moments so you like, shit, Paul,
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: don't pass that before keep shooting at her?
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: Oh yeah all the time. Yeah, yeah, like that, Like
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: I wasn't never like I was.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: I was all like trying to win, like, and his
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: skill set different than mine, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: So you got to respect guy's skill set. Paul one
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: of those guys like you don't go he can go
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: for twenty five in the quarter. I want the guy
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: can go for twenty five in the quarter. I could score,
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: you know what I mean. I can have my moments,
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: but that wasn't never my thing. Paul had he can
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: get to the foul line. You know, I was one
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: of those dudes. They get twenty texts a year, so rests.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: You know what I mean, I get twenty text a year.
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Like, yeah, so I'm I'm
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: I'm one of those dudes. So Paul, out of respect,
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: he gonna get to the line. So I would go.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: I would defer to Paul, like, bro, you're gonna get
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: to the line you can get to like like, ILL
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: respected the fact of that, and I just knew and
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: I love this competitiveness.
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: That's what we think.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: We really hit home, man, like we both are super competitive,
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: Like Paul, when I wanted to go at Kobe Melo
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: and Lebron James like he loved them matchups, like that's
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: what he looked forward to. And you look at his
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: numbers against those guys, bro, he got those numbers.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: I used to run that play. Uh up he run.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: I used to be like, that's a bucket. They gonna
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: get a foul or a buckety bucket.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: I mean to throw it over the town. Tell me
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: he's gonna let me know what his hand.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: He tell me he do this. He wanted to go
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: over the top. If not, if he still him throw
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: it in the middle. I get three assistant game like
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: that draft that's the insane for our needs.
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: I gotta I'm gonna get three assister game off that.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: Paul Man to me, I mean, I know you're gonna
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: go in the Hall of Fame, but he's one the
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: most underrated players. So when they had that conversation I
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: get a little upset about those conversations because he is
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: in that conversation. You can take your pick on who
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: you like that that's not for me to judge or
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: what you like, but he in that conversation. May national
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: commercials and the national notoriety sometimes are those guys. But
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: now he in that conversation without a question, Yeah, you know,
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: it's like Mellow. You know a lot of sometimes people
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: don't talk about Mellow and that he and that them
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: guys in that conversation them killer.
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: First life killers, like put that ball in the whole
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: in different ways.
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Like so, I'm like, so I get upset sometimes because
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: I know nationally in the in the media gives the
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: d Ways and you know, the Lebron James and all
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: those guys the recognition. But I think they appreciate that
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: more from their peers like you and Jeff, people who
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: played against them give them their flyers to you know
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: what I'm saying.
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: Paul piss Man.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: And like the Mellow, I got the most and I
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: got to see it day of the day and you
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: got to go Mellow on the post.
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: Oh yeah, earlier, I got the early Mellow, Denvil Mellow.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: I got that Dallas, that Dallas Mellow photast.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: The Raging Bull. I got a four times in China Shop,
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: Young Mellow. That was wicked.
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I was how did you prepare for that?
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: What was that?
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: Like? Bro?
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: I mean I had to play Dan Dallas. That was
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: a game we played. We played zone and that zone
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: we had Sean Bradley, you know, Sean Bradley.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Seven six Christian Yeah, he get it that we.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: Played to the three zone. So I gotta I gotta wait.
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: But the league it's crazy playing two three bro.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: Sure man, Man, you know that.
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: You know, Dirk, I love that.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: You don't know that, but Dirk one guard them premier
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: file and the small forwards, power forward.
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: You got them like man. I never played.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: The sound like.
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: For sure, Man, I.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: Tell pus quick. I learned how to take a charge
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: when I went to Miami. I'm like, man, I'm just
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: put my body in front of somebody. You're telling me
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: the god Tim dunk and KG back to back. Nah, man,
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: you can see me some help the front though. I

- 1:11:39Speaker 3: to do it. You know, you take a charge.
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: I think you're playing.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: Yeah, what we call it false, but you played, man,
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: I'm Jeff, you're playing with all the kids.
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: What god?
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: I know everybody highlights that's a fact. Watch look at this.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: But you was the era with the point guard might
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: have been the best position in the league. Wasn't started.
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: Every we talked about the other day. Every team had
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: us almost an All Star point guard.

- 1:12:17Speaker 4: he was tough for you.
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: Yeah, Like you got even guys that people wouldn't even
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: think was like like that. You would be like ship,
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: you have a nightmare against them, like young Kimball was
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: a nightmare. Or like you think who was in Utah
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: at the time. Darren Williams was in Utah. He was crazy. Yeah,
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: he was unbelievable. Portland, you had b Roy sometimes running
- 1:12:38Speaker 5: the point, and then you still have guys like Andre
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: Miller and all those dudes were still playing point guard too.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: So yeah, you had a tough.

- 1:13:08Speaker 3: up Philly. But yeah, all, yeah, you had your nights.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: It's probably about ten killers at that power forward spot.
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: I'm gonna say about fifteen point ward fifteen to twenty sleep.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: You had to get your sleep.

- 1:13:37Speaker 3: you got to get your sleep. You got to think
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: about it every night you got. You might get up
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: Mike Conley in his prime.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Man, you know what I'm saying, You would be like
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: the Griz, Like we played Mike and you're about to
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: run about and then you might get Rondo the next day,
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: and that's the worst. You gotta block him out.
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: Like yeah, it's still don't know. What would you say
