- 0:48Speaker 1: winning author, lifestyle blogger and owner of nineteen lifestyle magazine.
- 0:53Speaker 1: We always talk about love, life, mindset, healing, growth and
- 0:58Speaker 1: all the things that help us be the best versions
- 1:01Speaker 1: of ourselves. Today I am joined with a very special guest.
- 1:06Speaker 1: But you guys know you're not new to the platform.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I like to give my guests the opportunity to tell
- 1:11Speaker 1: you who they are, so I am going to turn
- 1:14Speaker 1: it over to him so then he can tell you
- 1:16Speaker 1: who he is Idealika, thank you for coming to Kicking
- 1:21Speaker 1: with Me today.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Kiki, it's a pleasure to be here now. I've been
- 1:26Speaker 3: blessed in my life. I was a world leading cosmetic
- 1:30Speaker 3: surgeon for over thirty years, but you know, in two
- 1:34Speaker 3: thousand and three life changed for me. I was walking
- 1:39Speaker 3: in Disneyland with my wife and my youngest daughter. And
- 1:42Speaker 3: my wife looked at me and said, what's wrong with you? Hon?
- 1:47Speaker 3: I was taken aback. I didn't know anything was wrong.
- 1:50Speaker 3: She said, listen to your foot. I said, that's the
- 1:54Speaker 3: dumbest thing you ever said. She said, no, it's not.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Listen to your foot. And I did. And my right
- 2:01Speaker 3: foot had suddenly and mysteriously developed a foot drop. It
- 2:07Speaker 3: was flapping on the pavement with each step I was taking.
- 2:11Speaker 3: So she said, did you have a stroke? I said, dear,
- 2:15Speaker 3: you're a doctor. I'm a doctor. If I had a stroke,
- 2:18Speaker 3: I'd be probably lying on the pavement twitching and sputtering.
- 2:24Speaker 3: And while she said, when you get back, you better
- 2:28Speaker 3: get this checked out. And what do you do when
- 2:31Speaker 3: your significant other says, get it checked out, Kiki.
- 2:35Speaker 1: You get it checked out?
- 2:36Speaker 3: You do? And I did. I saw friends that were
- 2:39Speaker 3: doctors and they were befuddled. They sent me to more
- 2:44Speaker 3: doctors and more doctors. They did cat scans, brain scans,
- 2:49Speaker 3: and scan scans. You know what they showed at the
- 2:53Speaker 3: end of the day, nothing nothing, nothing. And you know
- 2:59Speaker 3: what doctors do when they find nothing research, Well, they
- 3:04Speaker 3: do one of three things. They say oh, it's all
- 3:07Speaker 3: in your head, or they refer you, or they do
- 3:11Speaker 3: more tests. And my doctors were stubborn, so they did
- 3:14Speaker 3: more tests and more tests and more tests, and at
- 3:17Speaker 3: the end of the day they still found absolutely nothing.
- 3:21Speaker 3: So that's when they got together and they sent me
- 3:24Speaker 3: to a world leading neurologist, the brain guy that has
- 3:30Speaker 3: the answers to all these questions. So I walked in.
- 3:33Speaker 3: He was sitting at an amazing elaborate glass desk and
- 3:38Speaker 3: he had one piece of paper on it. He said,
- 3:42Speaker 3: doctor Leika, you better be sitting down when I tell
- 3:46Speaker 3: you this. I said, why, I have a dropped right foot.
- 3:49Speaker 3: He said, no, you don't. You have als lou Gerrigg's disease.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Get your affairs in order. I said, is there a
- 4:00Speaker 3: way to prove this diagnosis? He said, of course, an autopsy. No,
- 4:09Speaker 3: he had the bedside manner of doctor House on TV.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Right. Oh wow.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I said, no, I'm not going to die to prove
- 4:17Speaker 3: you long, and so I stamped out of that offense.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I slammed the door and I literally lost it. I
- 4:26Speaker 3: went to my car and I cried for hours. Sometimes
- 4:30Speaker 3: somehow I made it home and I told my wife
- 4:34Speaker 3: the diagnosis, and she said, no, I don't believe it.
- 4:37Speaker 3: I don't know what you have that you don't have
- 4:41Speaker 3: that diagnosis. But that's when you go through the immerse
- 4:45Speaker 3: emotional carnage. You go through the phases of death and
- 4:50Speaker 3: dying that Elizabeth Googler Ross wrote in her book on
- 4:53Speaker 3: Death and Dying. Go through anger. You go through anger.
- 4:57Speaker 3: You're angry at the world. Why because the world has
- 5:02Speaker 3: been taken away from you. So you're angry at the world.
- 5:06Speaker 3: So then you go through bargaining. Oh God, please don't
- 5:09Speaker 3: let this happen. I'll do anything if you don't let
- 5:12Speaker 3: this happen. Well, he wasn't listening to me then, at
- 5:16Speaker 3: least so I thought. And then you go through denial.
- 5:20Speaker 3: You deny anything's happening. But then my right hand became
- 5:26Speaker 3: involved and it wasn't functioning. And that's a problem if
- 5:30Speaker 3: you're a right handed cosmetic dermatologist. Right, But do you
- 5:35Speaker 3: know what you do if you're a right handed cosmetic
- 5:38Speaker 3: dermatologist and can't use your right hand, retire, No, you
- 5:45Speaker 3: become a left handed dermatology right, Okay, And you know
- 5:50Speaker 3: you got two of those things. So if you practice
- 5:53Speaker 3: something ten thousand times you become proficient at it. Right
- 5:57Speaker 3: what I did, I wasn't going to retire or I
- 6:00Speaker 3: was stubborn. So I use my left hand for everything
- 6:04Speaker 3: that my right hand used to do, and so with
- 6:08Speaker 3: time I became very proficient at it and was good
- 6:12Speaker 3: at it. But you know, at the end of the day,
- 6:15Speaker 3: you become depressed. Have you ever been depressed, Geeki? I have, yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 3: and I'm talking really depressed. You know, everything is black,
- 6:26Speaker 3: the days are nights and the nights are days. You
- 6:30Speaker 3: can't sleep, you can't eat, nothing has any meaning. You know,
- 6:35Speaker 3: you can stay in bed all day long, and why
- 6:38Speaker 3: shouldn't you. You're gonna die anyhow. So you know, at
- 6:43Speaker 3: the end of this I had a plan to kill
- 6:45Speaker 3: myself because I wasn't going to die drowning in my
- 6:49Speaker 3: secretions like many people with ALSA. But you know, if
- 6:53Speaker 3: anybody out there is that dark, don't do it. Don't
- 6:58Speaker 3: do anything stupid. Look, I'm living proof that if you
- 7:04Speaker 3: fight through it and get through it, there's meaning at
- 7:08Speaker 3: the end of the tunnel. So listen, if you're that dark,
- 7:13Speaker 3: call nine to one one, Call your psychiatrist, call your
- 7:17Speaker 3: family doctor, call your family, call your friends. You know,
- 7:22Speaker 3: get some help you need it, right, you know. I
- 7:27Speaker 3: went to my wife and I said, Dear, I'm not
- 7:30Speaker 3: doing so good. She said, you're smart, you'll figure that out.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I said, how can I I've seen every doctor known.
- 7:39Speaker 3: She said, perhaps you haven't seen the right doctor yet.
- 7:43Speaker 3: And that's when I said, Okay. Back in two thousand
- 7:46Speaker 3: and three, something new was invented. It's called the Internet.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Ever hear that magic beast geeky just a little bit,
- 7:57Speaker 3: just a little bit, yeah, But back then it was primitive.
- 8:00Speaker 3: You had to use dial on connections to get onto it.
- 8:04Speaker 3: So you had to put your phone on a cradle
- 8:07Speaker 3: and it would go for fifteen minutes and if you connected,
- 8:15Speaker 3: you will get to the other side, right, And you know,
- 8:19Speaker 3: that was where the magic happened. And I literally got
- 8:23Speaker 3: to the other side, and I had friends that would
- 8:28Speaker 3: help me navigate and surf the web because the web
- 8:32Speaker 3: was much like it is now, full of garbage cans
- 8:39Speaker 3: as well as books, but you had to communicate by
- 8:42Speaker 3: a primitive language called dost, so you couldn't just do
- 8:46Speaker 3: it by yourself unless you were a computer nerd, which
- 8:50Speaker 3: I was not. So my friends helped me find and
- 8:53Speaker 3: I found a doctor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, by the
- 8:57Speaker 3: name of David Martz was very similar to me, except
- 9:01Speaker 3: he got worse much more rapidly, and he was on
- 9:05Speaker 3: his deathbed within two weeks of having this diagnosis. Wow,
- 9:10Speaker 3: So I said, Wow, this guy's very similar. So I
- 9:15Speaker 3: followed his story. But it was a fascinating story because
- 9:20Speaker 3: he was so sick. People from around the world were
- 9:23Speaker 3: coming to say goodbye to David. And the doctor came
- 9:27Speaker 3: up from Texas, a doctor Harvey, and looked at David
- 9:29Speaker 3: and said, I don't think you have ALS. David whispered
- 9:33Speaker 3: and said, what do I have? The doctor said, I
- 9:36Speaker 3: think you have chronic limes disease. I think you've been
- 9:39Speaker 3: hidden by a tick and it's mimicking ALS. Now, you see,
- 9:44Speaker 3: back then, chronic limes disease wasn't even known. People didn't
- 9:48Speaker 3: even think of it. So he started David on treatment
- 9:53Speaker 3: and he got better within two weeks. He was like lacerous,
- 9:57Speaker 3: rising from the dead. So it was magic that had happened.
- 10:03Speaker 3: So I knew I had to get in touch with them.
- 10:05Speaker 3: So I phoned every hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and
- 10:10Speaker 3: I got in touch with him at the Methodist Hospital
- 10:13Speaker 3: and We talked for hours. He said, could you come
- 10:16Speaker 3: down and see me, doctor Laka, I said when he said,
- 10:20Speaker 3: you know right away, I said, David, it's Thanksgiving in Canada.
- 10:25Speaker 3: My wife's invited thirty people over. He said, aren't there
- 10:29Speaker 3: any planes in Canada? So I got on a plane
- 10:35Speaker 3: from Edmonton to Denver. It was great, But then I
- 10:41Speaker 3: got on a plane from Denver to Colorado Springs. It
- 10:44Speaker 3: was a rinky dink puddle jumper. Kiki, have you ever
- 10:48Speaker 3: been on a RinkyDink puddle jumper?
- 10:50Speaker 1: I don't think I would too.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Well, and you shouldn't because it's like the drop of
- 10:54Speaker 3: Doom at Disneyland, over and over and over again. Flying along,
- 11:01Speaker 3: it would drop one hundred feet without warning, it would
- 11:04Speaker 3: climb back up, drop two hundred feet without warning. It'll
- 11:08Speaker 3: fly up and drop three hundred feet without warning. You know,
- 11:12Speaker 3: it's because turbulence is coming off the desert at the
- 11:14Speaker 3: end of the day, and that's what the problem is,
- 11:17Speaker 3: and those eddies are causing all this. So at the
- 11:21Speaker 3: end of that fifteen minute flight, I crawl off the
- 11:24Speaker 3: plane and there was David at the tarmac to meet me.
- 11:28Speaker 3: You see, back then, there weren't all these prohibitions and
- 11:32Speaker 3: things like that that had been installed yet. So I said, Okay,
- 11:36Speaker 3: this is gonna be great, and you're gonna get together.
- 11:38Speaker 3: He said, doctor Lackey, you don't look too good. I said,
- 11:41Speaker 3: I don't feel so good. It's probably a metaphor, he said,
- 11:44Speaker 3: of all the things going on in your life. And
- 11:47Speaker 3: we talked for hours, and he said something magic. He said,
- 11:51Speaker 3: I think history is repeating itself. And you see, he
- 11:56Speaker 3: started me on treatment, and that's where I'm here in
- 12:02Speaker 3: two thy and twenty six, thriving, not just you know,
- 12:08Speaker 3: I went through my deepest darkest days. And I tell
- 12:12Speaker 3: the story because everybody in your audience is going through
- 12:17Speaker 3: difficult times. They may not be going through health issues
- 12:21Speaker 3: like I did, but they might be going through a divorce,
- 12:24Speaker 3: they might be going through financial issues. They might be
- 12:28Speaker 3: going through other things, family issues that are they may
- 12:32Speaker 3: be going through addictions. But I'm telling them this story
- 12:38Speaker 3: because there's hope at the end of the tunnel, even
- 12:42Speaker 3: in the deepest darkest days.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Absolutely, I love that. Thank you for sharing your journey
- 12:51Speaker 1: with that. I have a friend that had chronic lives disease.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Shout outs to Serena Whales and her story is kind
- 12:59Speaker 1: of like yours. Is some amazing how she went to
- 13:01Speaker 1: doctor efter doctor misdiagnognosis and all the things. So in
- 13:08Speaker 1: all of that, how did your mindset shift so that
- 13:14Speaker 1: you can overcome what you were going through? You know?
- 13:18Speaker 3: I think the biggest thing is you have to realize
- 13:21Speaker 3: you can get knocked down nine times, but if you
- 13:26Speaker 3: get up ten times, that's all that matters. It's not
- 13:31Speaker 3: what life does to you that, it's what you do
- 13:35Speaker 3: with what happens. So remember that it's not what happens
- 13:40Speaker 3: to you, it's what you do with what happens. The
- 13:45Speaker 3: more you realize that, the more you'll take control of
- 13:50Speaker 3: your life. You can't control any circumstance, but what you
- 13:56Speaker 3: can control is the fact that you can control your
- 14:02Speaker 3: reaction to the circumstance. So remember that. And if somebody
- 14:08Speaker 3: treat you the wrong way. Uh huh get it? Remember that?
- 14:16Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 14:18Speaker 1: You have to and you sometimes you just have to
- 14:20Speaker 1: speak positivity over yourself. I know when I was I
- 14:24Speaker 1: was in that dark place, like you were numb to everything, emotional,
- 14:30Speaker 1: didn't want to be around family, friends, Getting out of
- 14:33Speaker 1: bed was a task that I just didn't feel like
- 14:36Speaker 1: doing every day. And one day I woke up and said,
- 14:39Speaker 1: this cannot be my life. I cannot. I stopped taking
- 14:42Speaker 1: the medications. I started going outside. And you know what
- 14:46Speaker 1: I did, I started grounding, walking outside barefoot, and that
- 14:51Speaker 1: helped more than I thought it would.
- 14:56Speaker 3: You know, I wrote a little book to help people,
- 14:59Speaker 3: and it's called Break, Reset, to rebuild. You know, every
- 15:04Speaker 3: day we tell ourselves hundreds of false statements. You know,
- 15:11Speaker 3: you first have to break that and say no, that
- 15:15Speaker 3: statement is not true. For example, let's suppose yourself, I'm
- 15:21Speaker 3: not smart enough. Okay, that is a false statement. God
- 15:28Speaker 3: has given you enough smarts to get through anything, right.
- 15:33Speaker 3: So once you have to sit is replace that thought
- 15:37Speaker 3: is I'm not smart enough with I can't learn anything
- 15:42Speaker 3: aligned with my purpose. So first you break the thought,
- 15:47Speaker 3: say no, that thought is not true. Then you reset
- 15:52Speaker 3: it and by putting the reset button on you then
- 15:58Speaker 3: rebuild it by putting the oper thought in your mind. Now,
- 16:03Speaker 3: I put together in this little book one hundred and
- 16:06Speaker 3: twenty false thoughts so that you can rebuild them and
- 16:12Speaker 3: help yourself on a daily basis. So when you have
- 16:17Speaker 3: a false thought, you break it, you take the proper thought,
- 16:24Speaker 3: put it every place you can trip over it and
- 16:28Speaker 3: then make sure you repeat it over and over again.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Put it on a three by five cards and then
- 16:37Speaker 3: literally make sure you say it over and over and
- 16:44Speaker 3: over again.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Absolutely because you have to hear certain you have to
- 16:49Speaker 1: hear and see certain things a certain amount of times
- 16:52Speaker 1: in order for it to stick. And I think that
- 16:54Speaker 1: positive sales talk and positive affirmations, positive words and sayings,
- 17:00Speaker 1: they are pivotal when you are trying to reset your mindset?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Are reset a tradition? Are something that you were taught
- 17:09Speaker 1: to be one way and you discovered that it's not
- 17:13Speaker 1: so that. Where can't we get the book?
- 17:16Speaker 3: It's available on Amazon. It's available to help you in
- 17:22Speaker 3: every part of your life. And I have another book
- 17:26Speaker 3: that helps a lot of people. It's called The Secrets
- 17:30Speaker 3: to Living a Fantastic Life, and it's based on thirteen
- 17:36Speaker 3: golden pearls that a person can use in their living day.
- 17:42Speaker 3: The reason I love the pearl is and I refer
- 17:46Speaker 3: to golden pearls as golden pearls actually exist. The exist
- 17:53Speaker 3: in the South Pacific, and a single solitary golden pearl
- 17:58Speaker 3: is worth an ex says of ten thousand dollars. The
- 18:04Speaker 3: reason why they're so valuable is they're so rare. Can
- 18:09Speaker 3: you see what forms a pearl is a little grain
- 18:13Speaker 3: of sand gets inside of the shell of an oyster,
- 18:19Speaker 3: and instead of getting destroyed for it, the oyster walls
- 18:26Speaker 3: it off and it becomes something that's that much better.
- 18:31Speaker 3: And that's how it forms the pearl. So these little
- 18:35Speaker 3: challenges are golden pearls inside of you, and they bring
- 18:41Speaker 3: out the best of you. And I've identified thirteen of
- 18:46Speaker 3: those that you can live in your life. I'll just
- 18:49Speaker 3: mention a couple of those, Okay. One is love. Love
- 18:55Speaker 3: is one of the most important things that can never
- 18:59Speaker 3: have happened to you because without love, where would we be? Geeki?
- 19:04Speaker 1: Right, I really don't want to know. I love love.
- 19:10Speaker 3: And I'm going to say every one of these chapters
- 19:14Speaker 3: has a little story. Do we have a few minutes
- 19:16Speaker 3: for a story for me to share? Sure? Okay. There
- 19:21Speaker 3: once was a little three year ago old girl who
- 19:25Speaker 3: was very happy. She was angelic with red curly hair.
- 19:31Speaker 3: She was always singing and playing. She never walked, She
- 19:35Speaker 3: skipped everywhere she went. The world was her oyster. From
- 19:42Speaker 3: sun up to sundown. Everyone who saw her had a
- 19:46Speaker 3: smile on her face. Now, she lived alone with her
- 19:50Speaker 3: father because her mother had died earlier. And one day
- 19:56Speaker 3: her father punished her for wasting a roll of old
- 20:01Speaker 3: wrapping paper. You see, money was tight, and he became
- 20:05Speaker 3: infuriated when the child tried to decorate a shoe box
- 20:10Speaker 3: that was empty under the tree. So when he actually
- 20:17Speaker 3: emptied it, he lost it and became angry with her.
- 20:23Speaker 3: The little girl laughed and said, silly, father, I blew
- 20:28Speaker 3: kisses in that box and they're all for you. Aw,
- 20:34Speaker 3: it's amazing, and she You know, the story goes on
- 20:39Speaker 3: because one day, in a tragic accident, the little girl
- 20:45Speaker 3: died and the father became upset and he became moribund,
- 20:52Speaker 3: and you know, he was heartbroken and he realized that
- 20:58Speaker 3: his daughter, is most valuable thing was gone. But you know,
- 21:03Speaker 3: occasionally he'd hear her giggling, occasionally he'd feel her on
- 21:09Speaker 3: his lap. But you know, one day he died and
- 21:13Speaker 3: went to heaven and there was Saint Peter at the
- 21:15Speaker 3: pearly gates, and he said, we can't let anybody in here.
- 21:20Speaker 3: You have to give me something to make sure that
- 21:24Speaker 3: we let the best in. And he gave her him
- 21:28Speaker 3: the box, and Saint Peter said, you have given me
- 21:33Speaker 3: the gift of pure love. Come on in. And when
- 21:38Speaker 3: he walked in he met his daughter. He said, oh,
- 21:42Speaker 3: I missed you so much. His daughter said, why, I
- 21:47Speaker 3: was always with you when you were sad. I sat
- 21:52Speaker 3: on your lap when you were needing some help. I'd
- 21:56Speaker 3: whisper in your ear. You see, God may be an angel,
- 22:01Speaker 3: and I was always with you no matter what.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I love that story. Wow, And you have each one
- 22:13Speaker 1: of the chapters have a story like that in there
- 22:16Speaker 1: in the.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Book, right at the beginning. And that's why everybody should
- 22:20Speaker 3: read this book. They should they read this. They should
- 22:24Speaker 3: read this because I think it's an important to make
- 22:28Speaker 3: sure you have words of inspiration to help you in
- 22:35Speaker 3: your given day. You know, every day you need to
- 22:42Speaker 3: motivate yourself and get yourself beyond the hump. Every day
- 22:47Speaker 3: you have to decide how you're going to live each day,
- 22:51Speaker 3: and without living your day to the fullest, you're wasting time.
- 22:56Speaker 3: You know, That's what I do every day. Every day
- 23:00Speaker 3: I get out of my bed, I say, oh my God,
- 23:03Speaker 3: I have another beautiful day to really make a difference.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Absolutely. I love that. And so that brings me to
- 23:12Speaker 1: a question that I want to ask because we love
- 23:15Speaker 1: your sharing and storytelling and thanks for giving us those books.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Doctor Laka has seventeen over seventy how many you've written now,
- 23:24Speaker 1: because I know you have seventeen for.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Sure, I have probably you know. When I was a
- 23:30Speaker 3: cosmetic doctor, I wrote seventeen and since I've retired, I've
- 23:34Speaker 3: written at least five, and I've got three more in
- 23:38Speaker 3: the works, okay, because I think it's important to help
- 23:42Speaker 3: people in there there every day. My most recent project
- 23:48Speaker 3: is a book that I've written that I want to
- 23:51Speaker 3: get into the hands of everybody that's surviving trauma. It's
- 23:57Speaker 3: called When Life Changes Everything, and it's Bastede for caregivers
- 24:03Speaker 3: such as health professional and patients that are going through trauma,
- 24:08Speaker 3: whether it's trauma of a car accident, whether it's cancer,
- 24:13Speaker 3: whether it's anything else, because we know it's not just
- 24:17Speaker 3: the person going through the trauma. It really is everybody
- 24:21Speaker 3: around them that goes through it as well. So my
- 24:25Speaker 3: goal is to get this in the hands of millions
- 24:29Speaker 3: and get them to have this wonderful book. And I
- 24:37Speaker 3: wouldn't even call it a book. I call it a
- 24:40Speaker 3: resource because it gives you a plan to deal with
- 24:43Speaker 3: these traumatic times.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Does it talk a little bit about loss as well?
- 24:50Speaker 1: Because I have a couple of friends who just lost
- 24:53Speaker 1: their fathers, like within months of each other, and I
- 24:57Speaker 1: would love to get them a copy of this book.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Yes, for sure, Okay.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I would definitely When life changes everything.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Yeah, wow, it's just the process of getting on Amazon now.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Also give us Okay, I was about to say when
- 25:14Speaker 1: when we when can we expect it?
- 25:17Speaker 3: Two weeks?
- 25:17Speaker 1: Probably two weeks?
- 25:19Speaker 3: All right, Yeah, we're just in the final editing stages.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Got it. I want to ask you a question, and
- 25:27Speaker 1: you you kind of touched on it a little bit,
- 25:29Speaker 1: but I want you to tell the listener someone who
- 25:32Speaker 1: may be needing this answer because they are feeling some
- 25:36Speaker 1: type of way today, not in a good way, what
- 25:40Speaker 1: brings you the greatest joy these days? Because I know
- 25:43Speaker 1: you've You've been an award winning doctor, you have so
- 25:46Speaker 1: many accomplishments, You've overcome like so many things. So what
- 25:50Speaker 1: brings you the greatest joy today?
- 25:53Speaker 3: You know? You know, every day I realize I can
- 25:57Speaker 3: help people. I can help people live a newer and
- 26:02Speaker 3: better and I really can make a difference every way
- 26:07Speaker 3: I can. So the very fact that I serve people
- 26:12Speaker 3: and help them get to another level. That is what
- 26:16Speaker 3: helps me the most.
- 26:18Speaker 1: I love that. So we want to get to know
- 26:22Speaker 1: you better, more than the storytelling in the books and
- 26:26Speaker 1: things like that. So I'm gonna ask you some questions
- 26:28Speaker 1: and you just answer the Just give your answer like
- 26:31Speaker 1: the first thing that comes to mind.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Okay, sure, all.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Right, So we're gonna talk about coffee r tea.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Coffee rty Okay, just so we're on the same page.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Just tell me what you mean by.
- 26:46Speaker 1: That, Geeki, which one would you prefer.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Let's talk about coffee.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Okay, Why coffee over tea?
- 26:56Speaker 3: You know, I think it gives you more an immediate perk. Now,
- 26:59Speaker 3: I love tea at one time of my day, after lunch,
- 27:03Speaker 3: and I'll tell you why I love tea. Then, when
- 27:07Speaker 3: I was a cosmetic doctor, you know, you'd be running
- 27:10Speaker 3: around like crazy, and what would happen is you'd be
- 27:18Speaker 3: stressed out. Well, I found every day my staff would
- 27:23Speaker 3: give me a cup of tea after lunch and that
- 27:27Speaker 3: would help me to get going. Coffee in the morning
- 27:32Speaker 3: I find really a nice way to start my day.
- 27:36Speaker 3: And I like usually an expresso or something stronger than that.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I find that really makes a difference for me and
- 27:46Speaker 3: helps to make me get things going.
- 27:50Speaker 1: I love that I'm a tea person. I love tea.
- 27:53Speaker 1: I mean I'll drink like an iced coffee air and
- 27:55Speaker 1: one in to get that little perk. But I'm more
- 27:58Speaker 1: of a tea person. Peppermints is favorite.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and this one is what I find uh. You
- 28:06Speaker 3: know my tea is actually my favorite tea is something
- 28:09Speaker 3: called Lady Gray tea.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I like that too.
- 28:14Speaker 3: You know a lot of people haven't heard of Lady Grey.
- 28:16Speaker 3: They've heard of Rule Gray. Lady Gray, yeah, as a
- 28:20Speaker 3: more citrusy favor. And I learned that when I used
- 28:23Speaker 3: to be when I went to Australia on a rotary
- 28:26Speaker 3: exchange and I used to live in some of the
- 28:30Speaker 3: houses of rotarians and it was a very popular drink
- 28:35Speaker 3: down Under.
- 28:37Speaker 1: And it's it's funny that you said it because my husband,
- 28:40Speaker 1: he loves tea, so he always like looking for different
- 28:44Speaker 1: ones to try and he had some of the Lady
- 28:46Speaker 1: Gray and I tried it and I fell in love
- 28:48Speaker 1: with it. So yeah, it's amazing. If you guys get
- 28:51Speaker 1: a chance to try some, you won't regret it.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Yeah, you won't, And you might have time for it.
- 28:58Speaker 3: I know Amazon has it. When I order it from Amazon,
- 29:02Speaker 3: I think they order it all the way from England.
- 29:05Speaker 3: But it shows how wonderful the world is and how
- 29:08Speaker 3: short the world is, how things can be transmitted. Right.
- 29:13Speaker 1: What is one book everyone should read?
- 29:17Speaker 3: Oh? You know, I think you would never be upset
- 29:22Speaker 3: if you read anything by zig Ziegler. Zig Zigler was
- 29:28Speaker 3: an amazing human being and an amazing teacher. One of
- 29:34Speaker 3: the first books that I wrote read years ago was
- 29:39Speaker 3: See You at the Top, and I'd still recommend that
- 29:43Speaker 3: to everybody. And by the way, if I'd been asked
- 29:50Speaker 3: to help organize zig Ziegler's hundredth birthday party, which will
- 29:55Speaker 3: be held in October in Nashville, Tennessee, So if anybody
- 30:01Speaker 3: would like some information, just drop me a line and
- 30:05Speaker 3: I'll gladly get you some information for that. Because this
- 30:10Speaker 3: is going to be the event of a lifetime. There
- 30:13Speaker 3: will be guest speakers who were influenced by zig Ziegler himself.
- 30:18Speaker 3: That people will be able to see all the amazing
- 30:22Speaker 3: things he's done to change the world.
- 30:27Speaker 1: And if they wanted to get information from you, what
- 30:29Speaker 1: email or how would they cut out?

- 30:52Speaker 1: ask you this question, and I ask all my guests
- 30:54Speaker 1: this question, and I'm just I'm anxious say to hear
- 31:00Speaker 1: what your answer would be. All right, So, when life
- 31:04Speaker 1: challenges you and love stretches you, what mindset keeps you grounded?
- 31:12Speaker 3: Remember it's not what happens to you, it's what you
- 31:16Speaker 3: do with what happens. Remember that mindset. You have choice
- 31:23Speaker 3: every day in every situation. So remember that you are
- 31:29Speaker 3: in control and you're one hundred percent responsible for everything.
- 31:36Speaker 3: So if love challenges you, remember you can change that.
- 31:42Speaker 3: If life changes you, remember I've I've got this beautiful
- 31:48Speaker 3: book coming out called When Life Changes Everything, you know.
- 31:54Speaker 3: I think people should often look to others to help them,
- 32:01Speaker 3: their friends, their family, God, they should look to resources
- 32:07Speaker 3: in their library. I think people should be reading all
- 32:12Speaker 3: the time because you're not the only person that's had
- 32:17Speaker 3: these problems. So remember that as you move forward.
- 32:24Speaker 1: I loved it. Thank you doctor like for coming to
- 32:27Speaker 1: kicking with me today. I know that was I said
- 32:30Speaker 1: that that was the last question, but any final thoughts
- 32:32Speaker 1: on words of encouragement that you would like to lead
- 32:35Speaker 1: the listeners with today before we close out.
