- 0:00Speaker 1: Coach, the energy out there felt different. What changed for
- 0:03Speaker 1: the team today?
- 0:03Speaker 2: It was the new game day scratches from the California
- 0:06Speaker 2: Lottery players.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Everything.
- 0:07Speaker 4: Those games sent the team's energy through the roof.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Are you saying it was the off field play that
- 0:11Speaker 1: made the difference on the field.
- 0:13Speaker 5: Hey, little play makes your day, and today it made
- 0:15Speaker 5: the game that's off of now, coach.
- 0:18Speaker 1: One more question play than New Los Angeles Chargers, San
- 0:20Speaker 1: Francisco forty nine ers and Los Angeles ram scratchers from
- 0:23Speaker 1: the California Lottery. A little play can make your day.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Peace made responsibily. It must be eighteen years or older
- 0:29Speaker 1: to purchase plate or claim there.
- 0:30Speaker 4: You get so many ideas, so on a Monday you
- 0:33Speaker 4: might get ten opportunities that present themselves. And when I
- 0:37Speaker 4: was first gun in, I was thinking, Oh, every idea
- 0:39Speaker 4: sounded amazing. Whoa that yeah, that's oh my yeah, that's unbelievable.
- 0:45Speaker 4: That's great, that's great. And then I quickly realized that
- 0:51Speaker 4: it's not about the idea necessarily, it's about the people
- 0:54Speaker 4: who's behind the idea. You're invested in that person to
- 0:58Speaker 4: execute on that business. So like put the what been
- 1:03Speaker 4: because a lot of the best ones that I've invested
- 1:05Speaker 4: in the boring I would They don't excite me, but
- 1:09Speaker 4: the people behind it are trusting that person. I'm believe
- 1:13Speaker 4: in that person. Actually the idea is a good idea,
- 1:15Speaker 4: but I believe he can actually pull through this and
- 1:19Speaker 4: do what he's saying if he has the right resources
- 1:21Speaker 4: around him.
- 1:23Speaker 6: My graduates from my school being forced bad drop my draft,
- 1:30Speaker 6: bad drop.
- 1:41Speaker 5: All right, guys, welcome back, e y l u K.
- 1:45Speaker 5: This is a very very special iconic episode.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Please like you're the Trumps, please.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Both shout to my guy sorely for making this possible. Yes, yes,
- 2:01Speaker 5: it's been a great resource for us. We've been getting
- 2:04Speaker 5: a lot of love in London, a lot of hospitality.
- 2:06Speaker 5: People are very very welcoming people and going out of
- 2:09Speaker 5: their way to just you know, add value.
- 2:12Speaker 4: So thank you. We appreciate that.
- 2:15Speaker 5: So Rio Ferdinand is a legend in the sport of football.
- 2:22Speaker 5: I was gonna say soccer, but I'm gonna be respectful
- 2:24Speaker 5: for it.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Let's check out surround this football with.
- 2:27Speaker 4: You, so football.
- 2:29Speaker 5: If you A lot of our listeners live in America,
- 2:32Speaker 5: so I'll give an education. What we call soccer is
- 2:36Speaker 5: the biggest sport in the world by far. It's not
- 2:40Speaker 5: the biggest sport in America, so a lot of Americans
- 2:42Speaker 5: don't have a full appreciation of soccer or football. But
- 2:45Speaker 5: every other continent Africa, Asia, South America, Europe.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Definitely it reigns supreme and real.
- 2:54Speaker 5: He's a legend. He played for Manchester United. I believe
- 2:57Speaker 5: you were the captain of the England national team.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Right on. You got to say that. That's like I
- 3:04Speaker 3: want a super Bowl.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Yeah yeah. But what's even more impressive is that he's
- 3:11Speaker 5: transitioned to become a superstar entrepreneur. So we actually in
- 3:16Speaker 5: his facility right now, which he just told me. Upstairs
- 3:19Speaker 5: is his sports agency, and the downstairs where we are
- 3:22Speaker 5: now is media company.
- 3:24Speaker 4: And he's an angel.
- 3:25Speaker 5: Investor, he's a real estate investor, he's a sports commentator. Yes,
- 3:30Speaker 5: anything else I'm missing, Great dad, Great dad, I got
- 3:34Speaker 5: a foundation.
- 3:35Speaker 7: That founding is important. He is obviously on the media side.
- 3:39Speaker 7: He's won awards for his documentary.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Uh and uh. He knows a little thing about cryptal currency.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Not so much, but a little bit. First and foremost,
- 3:51Speaker 4: thank you for joinings. Appreciate it. No, you know what,
- 3:53Speaker 4: when I got the call from Sula to come on man,
- 3:55Speaker 4: I was just like, you didn't have to introduce you guys.
- 3:56Speaker 4: You sent me a couple of YouTube clips and stuff
- 3:58Speaker 4: like this, and I know these guys. I've seen this stuff.
- 4:02Speaker 4: So yeah, it's a pleasure for me to get on. Nah,
- 4:05Speaker 4: I appreciate it. So it's importing what you guys do
- 4:07Speaker 4: as well. I think just to just to add thank you,
- 4:09Speaker 4: thank you.
- 4:10Speaker 5: So I think this is going to be a very
- 4:12Speaker 5: interesting conversation beco we can cover a lot of different stuff,
- 4:15Speaker 5: but I want to start with sports because we do
- 4:17Speaker 5: have a large listenership in America and a lot of
- 4:20Speaker 5: the sports guys listen to us. So like a lot
- 4:22Speaker 5: of NFL players, NBA players, and I think the reason
- 4:26Speaker 5: why they's so tapped in is because they need some
- 4:28Speaker 5: level of guidance, Like I don't know how it is here,
- 4:30Speaker 5: but in the stage it's a statistic where like seventy
- 4:34Speaker 5: percent of NFL players go bank f up five years
- 4:37Speaker 5: after they get finished playing, like fifty percent of NBA
- 4:39Speaker 5: players and they make millions of dollars and people are like, well,
- 4:42Speaker 5: how does this happen? So I understand your career, you
- 4:47Speaker 5: had made some mistakes when you were young, but then
- 4:49Speaker 5: I think when you got to MA and you everything
- 4:51Speaker 5: started to change, right, Is that correct?
- 4:54Speaker 4: Yeah? I think listen people from that customer, our backgrounds,
- 4:58Speaker 4: like financial literally, it's just something that isn't there. Like
- 5:02Speaker 4: even in the education and curriculum, we don't get taught
- 5:05Speaker 4: like you get talk maths and you get taught English,
- 5:07Speaker 4: you get talk science, but you don't get taught reality.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Yeah in in in school, I don't know what it's
- 5:13Speaker 4: like in America, but we don't get taught real like
- 5:17Speaker 4: every day financial literacy. We don't get taught about mortgages, really,
- 5:21Speaker 4: what the yield is, what rent means, what. We don't
- 5:25Speaker 4: get taught none of that stuff like insurance that I
- 5:30Speaker 4: bought my first car. I spent all the savings I
- 5:33Speaker 4: had on the car, and then the man said, talk
- 5:36Speaker 4: to me about insurance, and I said when he left, yeah,
- 5:44Speaker 4: it's crazy. And the stories are the same, exactly what
- 5:47Speaker 4: you say about America's happens here. And it's basically down
- 5:50Speaker 4: to education and that our parents weren't people that manage
- 5:56Speaker 4: big amounts of money. So then the people that you
- 5:58Speaker 4: look up to and look to for guidance, information, experience,
- 6:03Speaker 4: they don't have it. In that field. So you've got that,
- 6:05Speaker 4: you've got to then look further a field. But then
- 6:07Speaker 4: you're you're you're caught up in this mad life that's
- 6:09Speaker 4: going so quick. You're becoming a big superstar overnight, the
- 6:13Speaker 4: loads of money on the table, invited to every event,
- 6:17Speaker 4: everybody loves you, and you're just like, I don't even
- 6:21Speaker 4: know what to do. I don't know how, how, what where.
- 6:24Speaker 4: It's just crazy, man. It's because it's so quick that
- 6:28Speaker 4: before you know it, you look in your bank account
- 6:30Speaker 4: and you're looking and thinking, raight, I'm meant to be
- 6:32Speaker 4: People think I'm a millionaire, and I haven't really got
- 6:35Speaker 4: any savings. I've bought my mom and dad big houses.
- 6:38Speaker 4: I've bought myself a big apartment somewhere. I've got more
- 6:41Speaker 4: cars than I need. I've got every item of clothing
- 6:45Speaker 4: that I need that's new out every single month. And
- 6:49Speaker 4: I meant to be a millionaire, but I ain't got
- 6:50Speaker 4: If someone said to me, pull up a million pounds, now,
- 6:52Speaker 4: I couldn't when you're when you first start out, so
- 6:57Speaker 4: but people would say he could easily pull up a
- 6:59Speaker 4: million pound easy. And you're sitting there thinking, right, if
- 7:01Speaker 4: you only knew and you're embarrassed and it's hard to
- 7:04Speaker 4: then talk to people and then let people know that
- 7:06Speaker 4: you're in that situation. So it's very difficult. So I
- 7:09Speaker 4: understand them stories one percent.
- 7:12Speaker 7: It sounds exactly about like the athletes where we're from.
- 7:16Speaker 7: So is there a person at United or maybe prior
- 7:19Speaker 7: to that, who you saw and say, you know what,
- 7:23Speaker 7: that person's.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Doing it the right way? Can you mentor me? Can
- 7:25Speaker 3: you help me?
- 7:26Speaker 7: Or are these just growing pins that you had to
- 7:28Speaker 7: learn and then you kind of got the experience from
- 7:30Speaker 7: the lessons you learned.
- 7:31Speaker 4: You learn from experience. That's the way I learned from experience.
- 7:34Speaker 4: And you know what as well, you learn from what
- 7:36Speaker 4: you see as well. So now we're able to see
- 7:39Speaker 4: so much more on social media, which will help educate.
- 7:42Speaker 4: That's why what you guys are doing is so important
- 7:44Speaker 4: because there will be loads of athletes around the world,
- 7:47Speaker 4: not just athletes but people in general looking at what
- 7:50Speaker 4: you guys are doing and going, oh, actually, there is
- 7:52Speaker 4: a way and the right way and the wrong way,
- 7:55Speaker 4: and I see both and I can work it out
- 7:56Speaker 4: for myself based on the information that I'm getting, whereas
- 7:59Speaker 4: before or social media, it's just trying to test trial error,
- 8:04Speaker 4: trial error, and some people don't get back from their mirrors.
- 8:09Speaker 4: So is that the reason why you started the sports agency? Yeah,
- 8:13Speaker 4: one of the reasons also because I just felt that
- 8:17Speaker 4: there was a better way to manage players. A lot
- 8:21Speaker 4: of the time you see agents and you hear a
- 8:23Speaker 4: lot of the horror stories where players aren't getting all
- 8:25Speaker 4: the level of information that they need. There's no transparency,
- 8:29Speaker 4: there's no real clarity with situations, and you kind of
- 8:33Speaker 4: go into a deal almost feeling and going, I don't
- 8:38Speaker 4: even really know if this is the right deal. If
- 8:40Speaker 4: I don't even because I don't know everything, and I
- 8:43Speaker 4: didn't want that for the people that I'm going to
- 8:45Speaker 4: be involved with, and I thought, you know what, let
- 8:46Speaker 4: me just try and build something that would be that
- 8:49Speaker 4: and it would kind of take away a lot of
- 8:50Speaker 4: the questions that I had as an athlete, but a
- 8:53Speaker 4: lot of questions mainly that I see from a lot
- 8:55Speaker 4: of people that I played with, because you ask some
- 8:57Speaker 4: of the question a lot of the time when I
- 8:58Speaker 4: was growing up playing what other teams did you have
- 9:01Speaker 4: to come for you? And I've already heard on the
- 9:04Speaker 4: great vine off through other people that they had maybe
- 9:06Speaker 4: six or seven teams that wanted to take them out.
- 9:08Speaker 4: There was only one other club. And then you realize, okay,
- 9:11Speaker 4: that was just the agents actually placed him where it
- 9:14Speaker 4: benefited him rather than the player. And that happens like
- 9:17Speaker 4: that's just one example. There's loads of different examples, and
- 9:21Speaker 4: not knowing the financial implications of certain things that go on,
- 9:24Speaker 4: and all of a sudden getting a knock on the
- 9:26Speaker 4: door from the taxman. Actually that that that you've got
- 9:30Speaker 4: to pay that. No, I thought that was my agent
- 9:32Speaker 4: and to pay No, No, you got to pay that.
- 9:35Speaker 4: How come you didn't tell me? I go, no, I
- 9:37Speaker 4: did tell you, because your last gand so fast he
- 9:39Speaker 4: just gets caught up and you go, actually, I've got
- 9:41Speaker 4: the money, I just pay it. So these type of
- 9:44Speaker 4: things happen all the time, and I wanted to create
- 9:47Speaker 4: a safe place for an athlete to be able to
- 9:49Speaker 4: come and go. You know what, I know when I
- 9:51Speaker 4: go to sleep, or when the parents go to sleep
- 9:53Speaker 4: with this athlete, they know that they're sitting there and going,
- 9:55Speaker 4: I'm completely comfortable that these guys will go out and
- 9:57Speaker 4: fight for my child or fight for me as an
- 10:00Speaker 4: athlete with that big corporate company or with that big
- 10:04Speaker 4: football club to make sure they get the best deal
- 10:07Speaker 4: for me, not for them.
- 10:09Speaker 7: So how is it being in your position as one
- 10:12Speaker 7: of the greatest players in the country's ever seen, to
- 10:15Speaker 7: actually trying to get clients.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Does it become easier because one of the things you.
- 10:20Speaker 7: Said earlier is like people for where I'm from, obviously,
- 10:23Speaker 7: if there's people who are in these environments and they
- 10:26Speaker 7: look at you as the guy who made it out,
- 10:28Speaker 7: does it become an easier process for you to get
- 10:30Speaker 7: clients or are you still fighting an uphill battle? Because
- 10:33Speaker 7: I guess you went from player to now this form
- 10:36Speaker 7: and there's people who are experience and saying I know
- 10:38Speaker 7: more than him, even though he's just an athlete.
- 10:40Speaker 4: You're always going to have fights. You're always not fight,
- 10:42Speaker 4: but you're always going to have competitors. And the thing
- 10:46Speaker 4: that the old school would probably lean honest the experience
- 10:49Speaker 4: that they have, but that experience is different to my experience.
- 10:54Speaker 4: I've got experience being the player, so I understand it
- 10:56Speaker 4: from the players perspective so that I can actually try
- 10:59Speaker 4: and give them the best situation that suits them based
- 11:03Speaker 4: on what I've gone through. But listen, some people are
- 11:07Speaker 4: going to pay people to be with them. So there's
- 11:10Speaker 4: always going to be obstacles, but I just believe in transparency.
- 11:13Speaker 4: I think I always look at it from a parent's
- 11:16Speaker 4: point of view as well an athlete. Do I trust
- 11:20Speaker 4: this guy? Do I really trust this guy to get
- 11:24Speaker 4: me the best deal for me? Or is he going
- 11:26Speaker 4: to at some point? Am I going to think he
- 11:27Speaker 4: might go and do a deal that's going to suit
- 11:30Speaker 4: him over me? And when you get to the bottom
- 11:32Speaker 4: of that art question, I have confidence that that will
- 11:37Speaker 4: normally come back around to me as being the right
- 11:39Speaker 4: person to look after your child or look after you
- 11:41Speaker 4: as an athlete. And as I said, you want to
- 11:46Speaker 4: work with clean hearted people. You want to people that
- 11:49Speaker 4: also and be confident in the fact that I want
- 11:53Speaker 4: to be a success still, Like I've had a career
- 11:55Speaker 4: which has been great for me, but I still want
- 11:57Speaker 4: to be successful again. I have that driving determination every
- 12:01Speaker 4: day to better myself and be and me being better
- 12:05Speaker 4: means you're going to get a better deal, You're going
- 12:06Speaker 4: to get a better service who's working with me one
- 12:09Speaker 4: hundred percent?
- 12:10Speaker 3: So it's like the new challenge. I was greening in
- 12:12Speaker 3: this as but can I be as green in this one?
- 12:14Speaker 4: Bro? That's it that's it for me. Like if I,
- 12:18Speaker 4: if I, if I in twenty years, thirty years, what
- 12:21Speaker 4: however long I'm going to live, maybe long, hopefully longer,
- 12:25Speaker 4: finish off and retire and I people are still going
- 12:31Speaker 4: the first thing they say, that's real. Third they play
- 12:33Speaker 4: play football for me united and for this and that
- 12:38Speaker 4: with I life, I said, I'll be disappointed in that.
- 12:41Speaker 4: I'll be disappointed. I'll be honest. I want someone. I
- 12:44Speaker 4: need something else that stands up alongside that. At least
- 12:47Speaker 4: the people go, that's you know, he's part of that,
- 12:50Speaker 4: or you helped create that, or if I that's that's
- 12:53Speaker 4: my drive and that's why I get out of bed.
- 12:55Speaker 4: That's why I work so hard. That's why my kids
- 12:57Speaker 4: sometimes say. I know they're thinking, yeah, that he works
- 13:00Speaker 4: a lot, man, but they need to see that example.
- 13:03Speaker 4: But also I have to have that passion in me
- 13:05Speaker 4: to be able to produce something else. That's why trying
- 13:08Speaker 4: to create different businesses is a big part of my life.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I love it.
- 13:11Speaker 5: When did you get into the entrepreneurial space while even
- 13:14Speaker 5: still playing? Or I have to retire?
- 13:16Speaker 4: No, when I was playing, because I just always thought
- 13:19Speaker 4: that when I retire, your name kind of fades quick.
- 13:23Speaker 4: I've got traction now as a player, I need to
- 13:27Speaker 4: utilize that. Albeit after I got to a point where
- 13:31Speaker 4: I was experienced enough to be able to juggle both.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Like I don't like seeing really when there's young kids
- 13:36Speaker 4: doing it, when they haven't really mastered their craft. I
- 13:39Speaker 4: find it hard to believe that you can do both.
- 13:41Speaker 4: There may be that guy can you can, but I
- 13:44Speaker 4: think it's a big challenge because there's so much to
- 13:46Speaker 4: consider when you're a young player just finding your feet
- 13:49Speaker 4: in that sport. To be able to then take your
- 13:53Speaker 4: focus off of that completely and really put big energy
- 13:56Speaker 4: somewhere else, I think it's difficult. But once I got
- 14:02Speaker 4: to a position where I knew that I knew what
- 14:04Speaker 4: I needed to do every day to be the best athlete,
- 14:07Speaker 4: I felt very comfortable and then exploring other avenues and
- 14:10Speaker 4: other ways of building stuff or being part of different businesses.
- 14:14Speaker 4: And to be honest you that my United were happy.
- 14:17Speaker 4: They didn't like it, no, because I understand it, like
- 14:22Speaker 4: I'm an asset They've paid millions of pounds for they
- 14:25Speaker 4: pay me good money as a wage. Why is my
- 14:29Speaker 4: focus not one hundred percent there? I'll get that. But
- 14:32Speaker 4: for me to be the best athlete I could be
- 14:34Speaker 4: at that time. I needed to have the ability to
- 14:36Speaker 4: spread my wings a little bit and sometimes take my
- 14:38Speaker 4: mind off of football, and what better way to do
- 14:42Speaker 4: it than to do business.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Everyone has an opinion when it comes to the foods
- 14:45Speaker 2: we eat. This food's good for you, this one's bad
- 14:48Speaker 2: for you, this diet works best. But who actually has
- 14:51Speaker 2: the right answer. You don't need rules to lose weight,
- 14:53Speaker 2: You just need proper information to build smarter, more sustainable habits.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Normals here to change the way we view food, but
- 14:59Speaker 2: not on looking at what we eat, but also how
- 15:02Speaker 2: we eat. Instead of making you feel guilt, NOOM empowers
- 15:05Speaker 2: you to keep going. Not everyone wants to be on

- 16:07Speaker 2: it over there now.
- 16:08Speaker 7: I think that it's like a double ed sword though, right,
- 16:10Speaker 7: because if you're actually creating a brand for yourself and
- 16:15Speaker 7: you're playing for the team, the bigger you get, they
- 16:17Speaker 7: still will remember that, like you said for now, that
- 16:21Speaker 7: that's he's the man you right, So it actually helps
- 16:24Speaker 7: their brand too.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of interesting that they didn't really see.
- 16:26Speaker 4: That's what I tried to tell them, that me being
- 16:29Speaker 4: like I created this magazine called five. It's now evolved
- 16:34Speaker 4: into like a YouTube channel and stuff like that, a
- 16:37Speaker 4: football community, but this was like when was it like
- 16:41Speaker 4: twelve twelve years ago something like that. It's like a
- 16:44Speaker 4: digital online magazine, like one of the first ones. One
- 16:46Speaker 4: loads of awards on Apple Store and stuff. But it
- 16:49Speaker 4: was it was like kind of marrying up football and
- 16:53Speaker 4: lifestyle and culture, fashion and music. So the first interview
- 16:57Speaker 4: was with like fifty cent Lebron was on there. We
- 17:01Speaker 4: spoke to Drake before he blew Roger Federer like big
- 17:06Speaker 4: massive sports stars, entertainments from the entertainment world, music and
- 17:09Speaker 4: film and stuff. And the club was saying to me,
- 17:12Speaker 4: what's going on?
- 17:13Speaker 3: Why are you doing this?
- 17:14Speaker 4: And I'm saying, guys, you don't get these type of
- 17:19Speaker 4: stars marrying up with the main United brand, like this
- 17:22Speaker 4: is only enhancing what you're doing. This is bringing more
- 17:24Speaker 4: eyebills because people will look at me talking to these
- 17:26Speaker 4: guys and go, where's he from. Oh, he's playing a
- 17:28Speaker 4: may Unite. It's more fans. But that was before that
- 17:33Speaker 4: cross pollinating of audiences is now a thing. It wasn't
- 17:36Speaker 4: a thing back then. No one could see it.
- 17:37Speaker 7: Because that could I mean thinking about that, he said
- 17:39Speaker 7: fifty and Drake, he said Lebron like that might have
- 17:42Speaker 7: introduced him into this space and now he's an investor
- 17:46Speaker 7: in Arsenal.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Yeah, he could have been perhaps spurred me and you.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Well, Drake told me that he was a May nighted fan.
- 17:51Speaker 4: He came in all May United drip, we had all
- 17:52Speaker 4: May Night and everything. And then about a month later
- 17:55Speaker 4: I saw himuch Chelsea and then after that I see
- 17:58Speaker 4: him somewhere else and I was like, bro, are you
- 18:00Speaker 4: a main United fan? Would die hard or not? But
- 18:04Speaker 4: to Drake tell us man, you may not need to
- 18:06Speaker 4: know man, But like cross pollinating audiences is a thing
- 18:11Speaker 4: you grow an audience. That's the only way you grow
- 18:13Speaker 4: an audience. Like huge is like speaking to different people
- 18:17Speaker 4: in different industries to help bring their numbers to you.
- 18:20Speaker 4: And that's what I was trying to do at the time.
- 18:23Speaker 4: But listen, we will go at different speeds.
- 18:25Speaker 5: So as far as the media company you're talking about,
- 18:28Speaker 5: the far can you expand upon that like where it
- 18:31Speaker 5: started and where it is today?
- 18:33Speaker 4: Well, we had the football agency which was which was
- 18:37Speaker 4: great and doing well, but we wanted to kind of
- 18:40Speaker 4: have like a free sixty approach where we could kind
- 18:43Speaker 4: of manage the outside interests and the commercial elements that
- 18:47Speaker 4: the players come with, and like we have players you
- 18:49Speaker 4: want to expose themselves in different industries and do different things,
- 18:53Speaker 4: then we wanted to be able to control that inside
- 18:55Speaker 4: because that just was like, if we're going to outsource
- 18:58Speaker 4: all the media stuff that we do or commercial opportunities
- 19:01Speaker 4: that we're going to get for the players, someone else
- 19:04Speaker 4: is controlling almost the image and the destiny of a
- 19:07Speaker 4: player that's under our umbrella. And I just didn't feel
- 19:09Speaker 4: comfortable with that because their narrative they're trying to right
- 19:12Speaker 4: just might not fit with how we see it. So
- 19:15Speaker 4: to bring that control, we just we set this company
- 19:17Speaker 4: up to be able to play a part in doing that,
- 19:19Speaker 4: so not just for our own players, but we do
- 19:21Speaker 4: it for players who are other companies as well. We'll
- 19:24Speaker 4: have treatments and ideas and we'll go to other players
- 19:27Speaker 4: bring them in. Other companies will come to us and say,
- 19:29Speaker 4: like do a consulting role where we have this project,
- 19:33Speaker 4: can you go and get the talent for us? So
- 19:36Speaker 4: we do a little bit of everything.
- 19:37Speaker 7: In that sense, it sounds like what we have as
- 19:41Speaker 7: the Players Tribune, you know, it's like the player you
- 19:43Speaker 7: get to hear that directly from the athletes, so no
- 19:45Speaker 7: one gets to shape their narrative. And then obviously that
- 19:48Speaker 7: brings more attention to it because it's like, oh, we
- 19:50Speaker 7: didn't know that about the player. Now we can say,
- 19:53Speaker 7: all right, well we'd want to do business with them.
- 19:55Speaker 7: We hadn't known that before, especially like in others of
- 19:58Speaker 7: football where you don't really hear if you're not a superstar,
- 20:01Speaker 7: especially in the NFL, we don't see you number one
- 20:04Speaker 7: because you have a helmet on. And then most of
- 20:06Speaker 7: time we don't hear your voice if you're not the quarterback.
- 20:09Speaker 7: And so that those type of outlets give a voice
- 20:12Speaker 7: to the athlete.
- 20:14Speaker 5: I love shout out to Brandon Marshall. It was just
- 20:17Speaker 5: with him a couple of weeks ago. And it also
- 20:19Speaker 5: sounds like another athlete that's doing a sports agency in
- 20:23Speaker 5: the media company.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Yeah shut good god. It's come to the UK a
- 20:29Speaker 4: couple of times. Yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 5: So you know, they got the sports agency arm with
- 20:34Speaker 5: Rich Paul and Collect Sports, and then they got spring Hill,
- 20:38Speaker 5: which is the media company to like the barbershop stuff
- 20:41Speaker 5: like that where they bring athletes in and they have
- 20:43Speaker 5: like conversations like that on interrupted.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Most of his name is doing it as well. Durant.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Ye, yep, he has the boardroom.
- 20:51Speaker 4: What's his partners? I forgot his partner?
- 20:53Speaker 7: Uh, it's actually rich Finement is his agent. His agent
- 20:56Speaker 7: is his partner.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's needed because I feel like for a
- 20:59Speaker 5: long time athlete, it was just well, you.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Know, well sorry to intrubt. Why why did you Why
- 21:04Speaker 4: do you think all these big athletes in the game
- 21:06Speaker 4: now go with rich Pool and Clutch bigger relate. It's
- 21:11Speaker 4: relatable because they trust Lebron. They trust Lebron. Lebron's got
- 21:15Speaker 4: an image to protect that he isn't going to lowble
- 21:19Speaker 4: or do something that's just going to be crazy out
- 21:21Speaker 4: there that's going to affect this young talent that comes
- 21:24Speaker 4: in the dog because he's got an image and a
- 21:25Speaker 4: brand to protect. But there's that there's a lot of
- 21:28Speaker 4: these other agents who are behind that curtain that you
- 21:32Speaker 4: don't see their face, so they can afford to do
- 21:34Speaker 4: mad moves and do mad stuff knowing that. Listen, if
- 21:36Speaker 4: something comes out negative about me or this, you don't
- 21:39Speaker 4: see me, no one knows me. Got no image to protect.
- 21:42Speaker 3: And he's still going to the supermarket.
- 21:44Speaker 5: And exactly I've never actually participated in the sport anything.
- 21:48Speaker 5: It's kind of like Michael Jordan's and in brand Jordan.
- 21:52Speaker 5: That's how he's able to sign a because they all
- 21:54Speaker 5: looked up to Michael Jordan the whole himself, who's not
- 21:56Speaker 5: going to sign the team Jordan's.
- 22:00Speaker 7: Pieces that were actually watching it happen like and so
- 22:03Speaker 7: they look at it now it's more than an athlete.
- 22:06Speaker 7: That's their tag Frace, but it is more than an athlete.
- 22:08Speaker 7: He's in space jam, he has the movie production. These
- 22:11Speaker 7: guys are looking at it like I want to do
- 22:12Speaker 7: that too.
- 22:13Speaker 4: And whatever he's doing, he's bringing that. Bringing that opens
- 22:17Speaker 4: the door for everyone come under after that. That's the
- 22:19Speaker 4: whole ethos of what we do. Like I've done documentaries,
- 22:22Speaker 4: I've been involved in making different types of films. I've
- 22:26Speaker 4: been involved in with fifty actually one of the films
- 22:29Speaker 4: even that there's so many other fashion and whatnot like them.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Doors have been opened, and like that's why I always thinking,
- 22:34Speaker 4: if you're a certain level, you've got leverage, you've got
- 22:37Speaker 4: to use that to help impact other people. And that's
- 22:39Speaker 4: what that's the only thing I try and do is
- 22:41Speaker 4: that if I've opened the door, that's been very hard
- 22:43Speaker 4: to get through for people before me. And I've managed
- 22:45Speaker 4: to open that door. Why am I going to close
- 22:47Speaker 4: that door behind me? I want to even open for
- 22:50Speaker 4: someone else who looks like me, who's from a background
- 22:52Speaker 4: like me, People that come from our type of background.
- 22:56Speaker 4: They need to come through that door with me. But
- 22:58Speaker 4: someone's got to open it. What you do with We're done?
- 23:01Speaker 4: A film? Was it called dead Man running? Didn't do
- 23:04Speaker 4: that well? Man, but fifty were sharp? He's acting Withn't
- 23:09Speaker 4: that sharp? I'm joking now, but you know what I
- 23:12Speaker 4: liked about him? You could see the energy man. The
- 23:14Speaker 4: energy this guy had. It was like it's just it's
- 23:18Speaker 4: inspiring because like he's just again the background he's come from,
- 23:23Speaker 4: the hunger which he shows constantly, the way he's reinvented
- 23:25Speaker 4: himself again in a different industry. Again he conquered music
- 23:29Speaker 4: and or in one way now he's conquering that the
- 23:32Speaker 4: making serious like he is on different networks and like
- 23:35Speaker 4: he's basically made a network almost. So it's just like
- 23:38Speaker 4: crazy to think that somebody who came out in the
- 23:41Speaker 4: club has gone and done that.
- 23:42Speaker 5: It's like, yeah, so let me ask you this. You
- 23:46Speaker 5: seem like everything you do is very strategic. You're also
- 23:49Speaker 5: a sports commentator. What was the idea with being a
- 23:52Speaker 5: sports commentator. Was that done to further your brand or
- 23:57Speaker 5: you just felt that was something that would be a
- 23:59Speaker 5: good way to, you know, keep your name going, or
- 24:01Speaker 5: you just genuinely just enjoy it like it was it.
- 24:04Speaker 4: First of all, I just love football, so it was
- 24:07Speaker 4: just a natural progression to be in the game. I
- 24:09Speaker 4: really wanted to be a manager when I was playing,
- 24:11Speaker 4: but then life circumstances changed and so I had to
- 24:15Speaker 4: kind of just put that to one side and take
- 24:17Speaker 4: that away out of the equation. So being a football
- 24:20Speaker 4: pundit commentator was I'd be doing that in my house
- 24:24Speaker 4: with my friends anyway. I'd be in the in the
- 24:26Speaker 4: in the bar with my or the pub with my
- 24:27Speaker 4: friends talking about the game. So why not go to
- 24:30Speaker 4: the games? Why not be paid for it and still
- 24:34Speaker 4: keep your name relevant within the sport that you love.
- 24:36Speaker 4: And I think it helps also with the business the
- 24:38Speaker 4: businesses that I've got. It supports that as well. You
- 24:41Speaker 4: can almost be part of narratives that are coming out
- 24:44Speaker 4: in the game, and the game's given me so much,
- 24:48Speaker 4: why would I just walk away?
- 24:50Speaker 3: Do you ever have to call a game that your
- 24:52Speaker 3: client is playing in.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Yeah, also friends or your friends, like a lot of
- 24:56Speaker 4: my friends are people. A lot of the players now
- 24:59Speaker 4: that are playing I've had a played against or with,
- 25:02Speaker 4: and that can be.
- 25:03Speaker 7: I can imagine because like we we know like guys
- 25:06Speaker 7: like Stephen Ay, Yeah, but he's not he doesn't have
- 25:09Speaker 7: an agency where his players playing like it's in your
- 25:12Speaker 7: best interest shutting sharp, shouting a sharp another guy, right,
- 25:15Speaker 7: But they're not agents right like you are. And your
- 25:18Speaker 7: client is on the field, on the pitch like that,
- 25:23Speaker 7: and I mean, obviously he's in the best interest to
- 25:26Speaker 7: have them perform well. You don't want a negative connotation
- 25:28Speaker 7: around them. So how do you How do you manage that?
- 25:30Speaker 4: I think I based a lot more I base my
- 25:33Speaker 4: relationship with the players that we manage on honesty. So
- 25:37Speaker 4: I'm not going to say anything on the TV that
- 25:39Speaker 4: I would not say to their face or haven't said
- 25:41Speaker 4: to their face with the same type of energy. And
- 25:44Speaker 4: I think the players have always appreciated that. Now, if
- 25:46Speaker 4: a player plays really well, I'm not going to go
- 25:48Speaker 4: crazy about it. I'm not going to go overboard. I'll
- 25:50Speaker 4: be the same as which I would be of a
- 25:51Speaker 4: player who I don't manage. But likewise, if a player
- 25:54Speaker 4: plays poorly or makes a big mistake, I'm not going
- 25:56Speaker 4: to go overboard and go crazy about like I wouldn't
- 25:59Speaker 4: go of any plant. I just state the obvious and
- 26:01Speaker 4: the fact. Listen, he's made a mistakes. I want to
- 26:03Speaker 4: learn from that, and you move on. But I won't
- 26:06Speaker 4: be sitting there giving them favors and trying to talk
- 26:09Speaker 4: them up. When I talked, I wouldn't be looking to
- 26:11Speaker 4: talk them up above their station, because I just you
- 26:15Speaker 4: got to keep some type of integrity.
- 26:18Speaker 5: So I was anging about real estate. You are a
- 26:20Speaker 5: real estate investor. When did you get turned on to?
- 26:24Speaker 3: Like?
- 26:24Speaker 4: How did that start? As far as your real estate career?
- 26:28Speaker 4: Too late for my liking, Like, you know what, I've
- 26:32Speaker 4: been lucky that I've met some good people earlier in
- 26:35Speaker 4: my career. I got stung a lot with properties, and
- 26:38Speaker 4: I was buying stuff kind of off plan, not looking
- 26:42Speaker 4: at the paperwork, not looking at the small print, and
- 26:45Speaker 4: then all of a sudden, a year or two down
- 26:46Speaker 4: the line, when it's actually not what it said it
- 26:48Speaker 4: was going to be, or the yield isn't what it
- 26:51Speaker 4: said it was going to be, or so again living
- 26:54Speaker 4: by learning by mistakes. And then I met some good people,
- 26:58Speaker 4: people with developers, people who get to know about certain
- 27:02Speaker 4: things in the industry more like in terms of pace
- 27:05Speaker 4: quicker and getting to the punch earlier. And then you
- 27:09Speaker 4: just start to build and you build up your own portfolio,
- 27:13Speaker 4: and it's more about for me, just having that mix
- 27:16Speaker 4: of different types of property commercial, residential, not all in
- 27:22Speaker 4: one place. Like I used to think, oh, buy loads
- 27:24Speaker 4: in this one area, and it's like, if that area, thanks,
- 27:27Speaker 4: you are banging trouble. So that's just diversifying the portfolio
- 27:30Speaker 4: the right way and just having the right people around you.
- 27:32Speaker 4: And I think that's a lot of the way a
- 27:33Speaker 4: lot of the players fall down is that we end
- 27:36Speaker 4: up employing the wrong people who look like they know
- 27:40Speaker 4: everything but actually don't have your best interests at heart.
- 27:43Speaker 4: And like I always go back to this with the
- 27:45Speaker 4: management or with people I do businesses. Do I trust
- 27:49Speaker 4: this guy, because you've got to go with the gut
- 27:52Speaker 4: feeling because normally I've always felt that the people that
- 27:55Speaker 4: I weren't sure about and had a bad gut feeling
- 27:57Speaker 4: about at the beginning, they always end up turning sour.
- 28:01Speaker 4: So now I don't mess about with that. Once I
- 28:03Speaker 4: get that feeding, whether I like them or not, I
- 28:05Speaker 4: just say, business wise, we can go for a drink
- 28:07Speaker 4: or dinner or whatever, but business let's just leave it
- 28:10Speaker 4: and keep it moving something else.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Yeah, majority of the portfolio is invested in the UK
- 28:16Speaker 3: or the other country.
- 28:17Speaker 4: Yeah. I got burned when I invested in I don't
- 28:20Speaker 4: want to name the countries. I invested in the country
- 28:23Speaker 4: and like put money down, loads of people that I
- 28:27Speaker 4: know put money down, and then the rules in the
- 28:31Speaker 4: country change and we lost a good bit of money.
- 28:33Speaker 4: So yeah, I'll just that just burnt me and I
- 28:35Speaker 4: ain't going to get burnt again. Is it like multi
- 28:40Speaker 4: family own? Is it flat? Is it commercial buildings? No?
- 28:44Speaker 4: Like commercial that you rent out, yeah, which you get
- 28:46Speaker 4: good tenants in, which has been good. They yield decent money.
- 28:50Speaker 4: But it's long term leaseholders which are great. But also
- 28:56Speaker 4: the residentials, like you buy it and you kind of
- 28:59Speaker 4: get you yield off of them with rent. But also
- 29:04Speaker 4: I think as well that social holising was a good
- 29:06Speaker 4: thing for me, big thing for me. I think social housing.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Do you have that in America? Socializing the public housing?
- 29:16Speaker 3: Public housing?
- 29:16Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, so you do
- 29:20Speaker 4: different stuff, and you can work with governments, and you
- 29:22Speaker 4: can work with local councils and just giving people an
- 29:27Speaker 4: opportunity to get on the property that at a lower rate.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Obviously it's good for because it's long term leases as well,
- 29:35Speaker 4: and long term stuff that you do with the councils.
- 29:38Speaker 4: But you're trying to help people as well, which engine
- 29:41Speaker 4: in the end helps you as well as a business.
- 29:42Speaker 4: But I don't think there's any better way to do
- 29:44Speaker 4: business and help someone else help yourself as well in
- 29:47Speaker 4: terms of just from a pure business standpoint. Yeah, we
- 29:50Speaker 4: were just talking.
- 29:51Speaker 5: We just had an episode about that in the States,
- 29:53Speaker 5: Like it's called like government housing and they get vouchers.
- 29:56Speaker 5: And that's one good thing about having that is that
- 29:59Speaker 5: you don't have to work the rent being paid because
- 30:01Speaker 5: the government's paying the rent. So's as good for a
- 30:04Speaker 5: landlord as long as you know you have a selection
- 30:07Speaker 5: process in place. So okay, So so you're doing all
- 30:11Speaker 5: of this stuff, and we didn't even talk about the
- 30:13Speaker 5: NFTs and all that. How do you How are you
- 30:15Speaker 5: managing everything? Because being a sports commentator can be like
- 30:18Speaker 5: a full time gig within itself, and then you got
- 30:21Speaker 5: the media side. You're a real estate investor, you're family man,
- 30:25Speaker 5: you got the sports agency. How are you managing all
- 30:30Speaker 5: of this at the same time.
- 30:31Speaker 4: I don't know. Man, my mom, I got a pa
- 30:33Speaker 4: in it. So people without a PA and a wife,
- 30:36Speaker 4: I'll be under this table because it's just it's a
- 30:39Speaker 4: lot to do. But when you're passionate about stuff, it
- 30:42Speaker 4: doesn't seem like a lot. That's what I found. Like
- 30:45Speaker 4: the stuff does hard work and tears you up in
- 30:48Speaker 4: your mind and leaves you feeling really mentally tired, physically drained.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Is the stuff that you don't care about a lot
- 30:56Speaker 4: of the time. So I try and kind of I'm
- 30:58Speaker 4: in the process actually now trying to cleanse myself of
- 31:01Speaker 4: the stuff that I don't have any passion for and
- 31:04Speaker 4: just sticking with the stuff that I have most passion for.
- 31:07Speaker 4: And the stuff we've talked about is that also I'm
- 31:12Speaker 4: involved in. I like, I love investing as well. I've
- 31:15Speaker 4: got to be honest, I've investing in terms of my
- 31:18Speaker 4: time to take equity or through financial and especially in
- 31:26Speaker 4: tech startups. I love it. And I was lucky. I
- 31:29Speaker 4: met a guy, a guy called sork Client shout out
- 31:32Speaker 4: Sorklian one of the best investors in Europe is that,
- 31:34Speaker 4: if not the best, at different levels, different stages. He
- 31:39Speaker 4: had a thing that he'd done and it was just
- 31:42Speaker 4: at that point in that moment. Then my previous wife
- 31:45Speaker 4: died at the time, and I was kind of looking
- 31:49Speaker 4: for something in my life to kind of just feel
- 31:53Speaker 4: tired and keep in mind occupied. And I met this
- 31:56Speaker 4: guy at a website where I was talking actually, and
- 32:01Speaker 4: he was there and he said, listen, coming on a Monday.
- 32:03Speaker 4: We do like a like a like a Dragon's then,
- 32:06Speaker 4: like a shark tank type thing where we have people
- 32:09Speaker 4: come and pitch us ideas and stuff, and we invest or.
- 32:12Speaker 4: We help them set up the business and try and
- 32:14Speaker 4: amplify what they do. And I used to go. I
- 32:17Speaker 4: went in there for about eighteen months. I was going
- 32:19Speaker 4: in there on and off, and I was just just
- 32:22Speaker 4: meeting new people in this guy man, his perspective on
- 32:25Speaker 4: everything life or business all just kind of just was like, well,
- 32:29Speaker 4: this guy's from a different planet. He's like an alien man,
- 32:31Speaker 4: just see things differently. Good heart, good energy. And then
- 32:35Speaker 4: I've invested in a few things that we've done with him.
- 32:37Speaker 4: I've invested with other people, but through him, I started
- 32:40Speaker 4: to understand the space more. Yeah you made some of
- 32:43Speaker 4: them didn't do well, but the ones that do well
- 32:45Speaker 4: are just crazy. So it's just been a great experience
- 32:49Speaker 4: and just to go into a new life, new world,
- 32:53Speaker 4: meet new people, and just be part of creating new
- 32:57Speaker 4: like wonderful businesses that kind of a change in certain industries,
- 33:02Speaker 4: which is just it's just crazy.
- 33:04Speaker 7: The same format you're getting into these these tech companies
- 33:07Speaker 7: in the early seed rounds with the aspiration of its
- 33:10Speaker 7: own public one day and wants to all buy out,
- 33:12Speaker 7: all buyout and then obviously you do well.
- 33:15Speaker 3: You stage driving.
- 33:21Speaker 4: That the angel n VC world is interesting.
- 33:24Speaker 5: I want to get a lot of guys in America
- 33:26Speaker 5: like Nass he's heavy and that got in coin base,
- 33:29Speaker 5: got in ring, got in pill pack, he smashed it.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a hell of a run.
- 33:35Speaker 5: So what you said you was educated, Like what did
- 33:38Speaker 5: you learn? What did you learn to help you actually
- 33:41Speaker 5: have a better education, because I don't think people still
- 33:43Speaker 5: fully understand that they know Angel Investing. You invest in
- 33:46Speaker 5: a company and they might have heard about seed rounds,
- 33:48Speaker 5: but that's probably it.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Like what did you learn that really have a good understanding? Okay,
- 33:52Speaker 4: I know how this works. I think one of the
- 33:54Speaker 4: best that you get so many ideas, so on a Monday,
- 33:57Speaker 4: you might get ten opportunities that present them else And
- 34:01Speaker 4: when I was first going, I was thinking, oh, every
- 34:03Speaker 4: idea sounded amazing, like whoa that Yeah, that's oh my god,
- 34:08Speaker 4: Yeah that's unbelievable, that's great, that's great. And then I
- 34:12Speaker 4: quickly realized that it's not about the idea necessarily, it's
- 34:17Speaker 4: about the people who's behind the idea. You're investing in
- 34:21Speaker 4: that person to execute on that business. So like put
- 34:26Speaker 4: the what been because a lot of the best ones
- 34:28Speaker 4: that I've invested in are boring that I would they
- 34:31Speaker 4: don't excite me, but the people behind it are trusting
- 34:36Speaker 4: that person. I believe in that person. Actually the idea
- 34:38Speaker 4: is a good idea, but I believe he can actually
- 34:41Speaker 4: pull through this and do what he's saying if he
- 34:44Speaker 4: has the right resources around him and so understanding that
- 34:48Speaker 4: you can't get emotionally attached and caught up with like
- 34:52Speaker 4: it's a great idea, this is going to be brilliant,
- 34:54Speaker 4: this is this is exciting, it looks looks sexy, and
- 34:57Speaker 4: that's just got a guy out the window. But it's
- 34:59Speaker 4: hard to do that I mean, because you actually don't
- 35:01Speaker 4: start thinking, I'm an investor, man, this idea, I'm going
- 35:03Speaker 4: to have to put it. So and if I just
- 35:08Speaker 4: if I talk to that guy to come in as well,
- 35:09Speaker 4: and all of a sudden you realize, actually, the guy
- 35:12Speaker 4: who's running that good idea is ship like, he ain't
- 35:15Speaker 4: got a clue what he's doing. You don't know what
- 35:16Speaker 4: he's saying, what he's doing. He actually's sucking up my
- 35:18Speaker 4: money as well. So then you start becoming actually, this
- 35:22Speaker 4: is more business. Take all that excitement out of it.
- 35:26Speaker 4: And then once I started doing that, Listen, you're still
- 35:28Speaker 4: going to make mistakes. Listen, all the good ones we
- 35:30Speaker 4: hear about, even Nas was invested in. I'm sure there's
- 35:33Speaker 4: a load of them behind that are found and then
- 35:35Speaker 4: he'll probably tell you that, but they're not publicized. So
- 35:38Speaker 4: everyone thinks everything you do is a hit, where it's not.
- 35:41Speaker 4: So it is a It is a crazy business, but
- 35:45Speaker 4: there's so many talented people out there. But the big
- 35:48Speaker 4: thing for me, and we were talking about this before
- 35:50Speaker 4: he came on, but it's just that it's I want
- 35:54Speaker 4: to be part of something that gives people that come
- 35:57Speaker 4: from our culture, our background and opportunity to see this like,
- 36:02Speaker 4: not at the last stage where there's no room for
- 36:05Speaker 4: big margins. I wanted them to get where actually you
- 36:07Speaker 4: can get in early and see these these future unicorn
- 36:11Speaker 4: companies at a real early stage, if not seed from
- 36:15Speaker 4: the next stage, so that because we don't get to
- 36:18Speaker 4: see even us as athletes, we get to see it
- 36:21Speaker 4: quite far down the line. It's only lucky that I'm
- 36:22Speaker 4: kind of plugged into a few guys who are big
- 36:24Speaker 4: in that industry and big in that market and know
- 36:26Speaker 4: the game and want to help.
- 36:29Speaker 3: Erness what's up.

- 38:50Speaker 4: But a lot of time you come in and actually,
- 38:52Speaker 4: you know what, can you just induce this for us?
- 38:55Speaker 4: I don't want to induce man, I don't want equickly,
- 38:56Speaker 4: I'll just give me, yeah, I do. I want to
- 38:59Speaker 4: keep you ex.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Bro.
- 39:02Speaker 4: I would rather take everything in equity, or depends where
- 39:06Speaker 4: you are in life. You might want to take half,
- 39:08Speaker 4: half and half. But I don't want to really talk
- 39:10Speaker 4: unless I'll get some equity. So but it's it's it's
- 39:14Speaker 4: about having an understanding and experience. And I think a
- 39:16Speaker 4: lot of the young players, but it's changing more now
- 39:18Speaker 4: because they're seeing shows like yours. They're seeing I am
- 39:21Speaker 4: athlete who talk about this type of this type of stuff.
- 39:23Speaker 4: Actually it ain't all about and that's where Jordan set
- 39:27Speaker 4: the blueprint in that and then then from what I
- 39:30Speaker 4: gather they say it's one of the it's a great deal,
- 39:33Speaker 4: but it's a bad deal at the same time. Yeah,
- 39:35Speaker 4: yeah for them what he for what he brought to
- 39:37Speaker 4: the team, all the private Yeah, the private jets. Key's
- 39:40Speaker 4: buying that. Yeah, down to them.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Join thirty percent of it and the other seventies ninety.
- 39:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:47Speaker 5: Well, I think that's why Easy Situation is so unique.
- 39:50Speaker 5: Hens a hundred percent of the Easy brand, even though
- 39:53Speaker 5: it's distributed to the ideas. But you know, it's I
- 39:58Speaker 5: think every generation learns, you know what I'm saying that
- 40:00Speaker 5: that's the benefit of it, And especially now with social
- 40:02Speaker 5: media and people being vocal about it, it's like it's
- 40:05Speaker 5: not hidden.
- 40:05Speaker 4: You can actually see the mistakes.
- 40:07Speaker 5: Okay, this person made this mistake, so I know, going
- 40:09Speaker 5: to forward, I can't make that mistake, you know, do
- 40:11Speaker 5: it this way. But let's talk about the NFTs because
- 40:16Speaker 5: I know that that's something that you was passionate about
- 40:18Speaker 5: as well. How do you feel about the NFT space
- 40:22Speaker 5: because a lot of people feel like it's a bubble,
- 40:25Speaker 5: it's going to crash. I don't necessarily feel like it's
- 40:27Speaker 5: a bubble, but I kind of feel like it's very
- 40:30Speaker 5: similar to the early dot com or even.
- 40:33Speaker 4: Crypto a few years ago.
- 40:34Speaker 5: With it probably will come back down because there's a
- 40:38Speaker 5: lot of projects that's not really worth anything. But the
- 40:41Speaker 5: NFT space is here, here to stay. So what's your
- 40:44Speaker 5: thoughts before I ask you specific questions, like, what's your
- 40:46Speaker 5: thoughts on broad range the NFT space right now? Because
- 40:48Speaker 5: this is on fire right now. Yeah, I think it's
- 40:50Speaker 5: not going nowhere. I think it's like it's like like
- 40:55Speaker 5: you said, the dot Com boom. Everyone at the time
- 40:56Speaker 5: was saying, no, this is a myth. This is going
- 40:58Speaker 5: to be here.
- 40:58Speaker 4: Come today, you come tomorrow like it's gonna I think
- 41:01Speaker 4: NFTs will be here because it gives the creators the
- 41:05Speaker 4: artist's power again, so that I don't think that will
- 41:08Speaker 4: be relinquished. It's just that I think probably ninety eight,
- 41:13Speaker 4: ninety five, even more ninety eight percent of the stuff
- 41:16Speaker 4: that you see coming out today will probably be gone
- 41:18Speaker 4: and there'll be more blue chip. The strong ones of
- 41:21Speaker 4: today I think will stay and grow, but there'll be
- 41:24Speaker 4: there's a lot of ship and you just got to
- 41:26Speaker 4: just distinguish what you believe is back the right horse.
- 41:30Speaker 7: That's what I said, it's back in the right horse. Right,
- 41:32Speaker 7: even though there's a dot com, there was a dot
- 41:34Speaker 7: com bubble, there was still and that was on in there.
- 41:37Speaker 7: You're still a yeahoo in there, right, there was still
- 41:39Speaker 7: an eBay in there.
- 41:41Speaker 4: Yeh's a bad example.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Well it's still here Google. It's not excite dot com right,
- 41:46Speaker 2: the yeah, who's still here? We can't we can't knock it.
- 41:49Speaker 2: It's not excite.
- 41:50Speaker 3: We know that.
- 41:50Speaker 7: And a bunch of others that we don't even see anymore,
- 41:53Speaker 7: aol like a bunch of those that we don't see anymore.
- 41:56Speaker 3: So it's about just finding the right one.
- 41:58Speaker 7: But who introduced you to it or did this become
- 42:01Speaker 7: something again that you just kind of found it interesting
- 42:04Speaker 7: and said, let me study this because this is going
- 42:06Speaker 7: to be in the way.
- 42:07Speaker 4: I think like everybody else, I just was on social
- 42:10Speaker 4: media and then you start you go to links and
- 42:12Speaker 4: you look at stuff, you research, you look at different
- 42:16Speaker 4: industries that are taking it on. Is it Kings of
- 42:19Speaker 4: Leon who'd done it with want to left with a
- 42:21Speaker 4: song or an album? Yeah? And then all of a
- 42:24Speaker 4: sudden you see Nike buying a lab like and it's
- 42:26Speaker 4: just like added that's now going in the space. I
- 42:28Speaker 4: think Guccia negotiating or something. You just see it's like snowballing.
- 42:32Speaker 4: You think, how can I not get interested in this?
- 42:35Speaker 4: And then opportunities start presenting themselves and you think, let
- 42:38Speaker 4: me have a little look to what's going on, and
- 42:40Speaker 4: oh that done? Okay, that was okay. And I just
- 42:44Speaker 4: don't think it's a space that's going to go anywhere.
- 42:45Speaker 4: And I think there's there's I think regulations might change
- 42:49Speaker 4: around it a little bit and kind of tighten things
- 42:52Speaker 4: up to a certain extent, but I don't see it
- 42:55Speaker 4: being something that can be deleted. I think it's too
- 42:58Speaker 4: there's too much power for the creators and that the
- 43:01Speaker 4: musicians and different people that mean something that can actually
- 43:04Speaker 4: benefit from this for it to be able to go anywhere.
- 43:07Speaker 4: Do you have a n f T. Yeah, I've got
- 43:09Speaker 4: a couple of n f t's I've got. You know
- 43:12Speaker 4: what it's. It's more about like I got involved in
- 43:17Speaker 4: a company called Sora, which is basically an n FT company,
- 43:21Speaker 4: which is basically like in America, is it top Shot?
- 43:27Speaker 4: Top Shot? So it's like that but for football, for
- 43:29Speaker 4: our football, for soccer, And as soon as I heard
- 43:34Speaker 4: the idea, I just said, WHOA like you can trade players.
- 43:37Speaker 4: You can buy a part of a player that you
- 43:39Speaker 4: feel like you could start at this level, but you're
- 43:41Speaker 4: back in that he's going to grow, and all of
- 43:43Speaker 4: a sudden you get the growth and like it's I did, actually,
- 43:46Speaker 4: be honest, I didn't completely understand it, but I believed
- 43:48Speaker 4: in the team behind it and that and these guys
- 43:51Speaker 4: and the influence of the guy I mentioned Saul before
- 43:55Speaker 4: he said, real, I'm grinding this as well, and I
- 43:57Speaker 4: was like, you know what, I've got a guy as well.
- 44:00Speaker 4: Companies has gone from I think late hundreds to two hundreds.
- 44:03Speaker 4: Now it's like companies doing well, doing well.
- 44:06Speaker 7: So it is a similar in the set of tap shot,
- 44:09Speaker 7: where it's highlighted the players and then you can have
- 44:12Speaker 7: ownership of the highlights or something a little difficult.
- 44:15Speaker 4: It's more, it's more more, it's just the actual player.
- 44:18Speaker 4: It's like a picture of the player and that's it.
- 44:20Speaker 4: But that's something that will be introduced at some point,
- 44:22Speaker 4: I'm sure. But there's a lot of regulations, especially with football,
- 44:25Speaker 4: with the rights of the club team. Yeah, like the
- 44:28Speaker 4: Premier League will own the rights for they sell the
- 44:32Speaker 4: rights obviously to like the big companies that we have,
- 44:34Speaker 4: BT and sky Sports here and Amazon, so the actual
- 44:39Speaker 4: highlight reels and stuff like that. It's quite a complex situation.
- 44:43Speaker 4: So the NBA and the NFL do it very different,
- 44:46Speaker 4: quite differently, I think a little bit a few sports questions.
- 44:51Speaker 5: Well, first, so being in America, we only release, we
- 44:57Speaker 5: don't really have a full grasp of what goes on overseas.
- 44:59Speaker 5: We just see, like we just hear reports and we
- 45:02Speaker 5: just see things. One thing that was very disturbing that
- 45:05Speaker 5: we were seeing and it's kind of an ongoing thing
- 45:07Speaker 5: in different countries throughout Europe, is the racism at football
- 45:12Speaker 5: games of matches you played obviously for a very long
- 45:18Speaker 5: time at the highest level. What's your thoughts on that?
- 45:22Speaker 5: And how is it as bad as it looks? Because
- 45:25Speaker 5: it looked like the brother I think it was in France,
- 45:32Speaker 5: and then I think even Jay Z was gonna invest, well,
- 45:35Speaker 5: he's gonna invest in a team out here, but then
- 45:37Speaker 5: he pulled back when he when he did some more research.
- 45:41Speaker 4: Some long story short, how is it? How is it
- 45:44Speaker 4: racism here?
- 45:45Speaker 3: Man?
- 45:46Speaker 4: Like, I'm actually shooting a documentary about it at the moment,
- 45:50Speaker 4: so which is going to be real good and it
- 45:53Speaker 4: will be very insightful, especially like for guys overseas like
- 45:55Speaker 4: yourselves to kind of understand the culture here very different.
- 45:58Speaker 4: It's it's toxic. Social media plays a big part in
- 46:02Speaker 4: that in facilitating and escalating racists and that ignorant behavior,
- 46:08Speaker 4: but discrimination of all forms. Really, I think a good
- 46:13Speaker 4: case is to three England players who were black, black
- 46:15Speaker 4: guys rushed for Sancho and the three young English players
- 46:22Speaker 4: like young like young English boys, all black, mister penalty.
- 46:25Speaker 4: And the mad thing about it is that the majority
- 46:28Speaker 4: of the people in the stands in that day, in
- 46:30Speaker 4: the stadium or at home watching, before they even stepped
- 46:33Speaker 4: up to take the penalties, all were saying to themselves,
- 46:36Speaker 4: they said it to someone who was with them, or
- 46:38Speaker 4: they thought if they missed, man, they're going to get abuse. Yeah,
- 46:44Speaker 4: if these guys miss they're going to get racially abused,
- 46:46Speaker 4: and and it played out like that, so it was
- 46:48Speaker 4: no surprise when it happened. It's terrible. It's disgusting to
- 46:52Speaker 4: think that today's we're still seeing this stuff and still
- 46:55Speaker 4: having to argue and fight because he's tiring man having
- 46:57Speaker 4: to answer these questions on race all the time. It's
- 47:00Speaker 4: been going on for so many years. When I was
- 47:01Speaker 4: a kid that was going on. They see it's getting
- 47:03Speaker 4: worse now because of social media and the ability to
- 47:06Speaker 4: really touch people and get to people direct. So it's yeah,
- 47:10Speaker 4: it's it's it's it's a nightmare, really, But I don't
- 47:14Speaker 4: think the powers that be, the stakeholders in our game
- 47:17Speaker 4: at least do enough. And I've been interested to hear
- 47:23Speaker 4: what you guys say about like we look at the NBA,
- 47:25Speaker 4: but I love watching the NBA and the way that
- 47:28Speaker 4: you the players in the NBA kind of came together
- 47:33Speaker 4: and they set out a game or weekend one of
- 47:37Speaker 4: the games that's never happened here, that would never happen
- 47:40Speaker 4: here right now. Should it happen? I think so at
- 47:44Speaker 4: some point, if stuff continues the way it continues going,
- 47:48Speaker 4: can it happen? I don't know, because the way that
- 47:50Speaker 4: the NBA seems correct if I'm wrong, it just seems
- 47:52Speaker 4: like a more of a tight knitted players union players group.
- 47:56Speaker 4: They have more power, They have power, and they utilize
- 47:59Speaker 4: that power in positive ways to get some sort of
- 48:03Speaker 4: change or shift in mindset or regulations and in the system.
- 48:08Speaker 4: But here it's not as tight kit. It's not and
- 48:11Speaker 4: it's just finding a way of helping that. And I'm
- 48:15Speaker 4: going to LA actually soon to hopefully meet some NBA
- 48:19Speaker 4: players or some decision makers just to find out a
- 48:21Speaker 4: bit more detail in how they do that, to bring
- 48:24Speaker 4: that kind of information back to kind of say to
- 48:26Speaker 4: look like this is potentially that I don't know it.
- 48:29Speaker 4: It's it's so that's what we were talking about before.
- 48:32Speaker 4: It's funny like in America, shit happens, and like England
- 48:36Speaker 4: we follow. In the UK and Europe we follow probably three, four,
- 48:39Speaker 4: five years, sometimes ten years later. Because you guys have
- 48:43Speaker 4: I don't know why, it's just it's just in a
- 48:44Speaker 4: lot of the stuff that that that just happens, and
- 48:46Speaker 4: it's the way and I feel with I'm not saying
- 48:49Speaker 4: you guys have got the racism issue down or you've
- 48:51Speaker 4: got it perfect, but there's certain things that you guys
- 48:53Speaker 4: have done that I feel that where we could learn from.
- 48:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I think the NBA has done a great job
- 48:59Speaker 5: with the having like real control.
- 49:01Speaker 4: The NFL is still not really there.
- 49:04Speaker 5: And that's why even with that kneeling situation with Colin Kaepernick,
- 49:07Speaker 5: and it's still the owners still have a lot more
- 49:10Speaker 5: control in the NFL, but the NBA.
- 49:14Speaker 4: It's more of a league.
- 49:16Speaker 5: It's more of a players league, and it's been that
- 49:18Speaker 5: way for a long time. Even in the the CBA,
- 49:23Speaker 5: where they got like fifty one percent of the revenue,
- 49:26Speaker 5: like they get more of the revenue.
- 49:27Speaker 3: They just associated that it was like fifty five forty five.
- 49:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:31Speaker 3: Wow.
- 49:32Speaker 5: So it's maybe you can learn the dynamics of that
- 49:34Speaker 5: and see how to play. It's because it's it's very
- 49:36Speaker 5: interesting because you can see like which leagues have the
- 49:39Speaker 5: power like that, you can see the stark contrast between
- 49:41Speaker 5: the NBA and the NFL from a lot of stuff
- 49:43Speaker 5: that happens that the NFL would never let happen.
- 49:46Speaker 4: The premier league don't get no power. Players ain't got
- 49:49Speaker 4: no power.
- 49:50Speaker 3: It's like that is like you.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Get paid to play. Be quiet. That's it.
- 49:54Speaker 7: So when the when the young gentleman, because everything you're
- 49:57Speaker 7: saying is one hundred percent you As I'm watching this,
- 50:00Speaker 7: like these guys got subbed into the kicks, and I'm like,
- 50:04Speaker 7: I hope they make it for their sake, I hope
- 50:06Speaker 7: they make it. But when they didn't and there was
- 50:08Speaker 7: turn on from everything that was going around them. Is
- 50:12Speaker 7: this where you step in as a senior statesman to
- 50:15Speaker 7: the national team and saying I need to go talk
- 50:17Speaker 7: to these guys.
- 50:18Speaker 4: Yeah, you reach out, man, you reach out, and I
- 50:22Speaker 4: know that a couple of the guys that look after
- 50:24Speaker 4: these boys too as well, and you speak and it's
- 50:26Speaker 4: like it's difficult for a man because it can be
- 50:31Speaker 4: a lonely place as much as they've got huge followings
- 50:34Speaker 4: on social media and the future of the national team there,
- 50:37Speaker 4: the future of the football in this country. And it's
- 50:39Speaker 4: like one minute before that they were cheering these guys
- 50:42Speaker 4: and then all of a sudden, now there's the hate
- 50:43Speaker 4: that's being spilled on these guys. It's just like you
- 50:45Speaker 4: just can't believe how it can go from one way
- 50:47Speaker 4: situation to another that quick. But yeah, and I think
- 50:53Speaker 4: I think it's about championing these boys. Like you can
- 50:56Speaker 4: speak up, you can miss a penalty, it's fine, still
- 50:59Speaker 4: walk with your head because you're doing something that no
- 51:01Speaker 4: one really gets a chance to do. And you've you've
- 51:04Speaker 4: you've done really well to get where you are. You
- 51:06Speaker 4: guys are champions really, so just continue And I think
- 51:09Speaker 4: it's about just reinforcing that to these guys. But it's difficult,
- 51:13Speaker 4: and I think that that the powers that be the
- 51:17Speaker 4: stakeholders in the game need to make people on social
- 51:20Speaker 4: media or the social media companies accountable for really leaving
- 51:25Speaker 4: the players in a position where their mental health is
- 51:29Speaker 4: really at stake. When you get these type of situations.
- 51:31Speaker 5: It's extremely difficult situation to play, I mean, because it's
- 51:34Speaker 5: like the thing that's shocked us is not the racism part,
- 51:37Speaker 5: because America is built on racism, so we're not We're
- 51:40Speaker 5: used to that, but just the vocalness of it, like
- 51:42Speaker 5: you'll never see bro and man's not coming up to
- 51:45Speaker 5: your face here and going to right black this black.
- 51:49Speaker 5: But on social media, the energies like almost like I
- 51:52Speaker 5: could say what I want, what it is. I can
- 51:54Speaker 5: say what I want because there's gonna be no repercussions,
- 51:56Speaker 5: there's gonna be no I ain't going I'm not going
- 51:58Speaker 5: to jail. No one's gonna come and get me not
- 52:00Speaker 5: there's no police going to come to my door. So
- 52:02Speaker 5: I can say what I want. I don't know how
- 52:04Speaker 5: it can be like that, Yeah, yeah, hopefully hopefully, you know.
- 52:08Speaker 5: I don't know how you change it, but it is
- 52:10Speaker 5: something that, like I said, just from an observer, it's
- 52:13Speaker 5: just disturbing, like even like to see like fans chanting
- 52:17Speaker 5: racial spurs, like you'll never see that in the States,
- 52:19Speaker 5: and you'll never see like people throwing bananas on the
- 52:21Speaker 5: field like they that just happened, you know what I mean.
- 52:25Speaker 5: It's just it's beIN Gano for years, like so it
- 52:29Speaker 5: hasn't changed obviously, Like it went quiet for a while,
- 52:32Speaker 5: but then all of a sudden, a few racist situations
- 52:34Speaker 5: pop up and you're like, whoa, Actually it was just
- 52:37Speaker 5: swept under the carpet because it's there. Speaking of sports
- 52:42Speaker 5: switching topics, how do you feel about the metaverse? Because
- 52:46Speaker 5: I feel I personally feel like have you ever tried
- 52:49Speaker 5: the oculus for Facebook?
- 52:50Speaker 4: Yeah, you tried it? What you experience you like it?
- 52:54Speaker 4: It takes them getting used to man. I feel like
- 52:58Speaker 4: especially like sports.
- 53:00Speaker 5: Like boxing, basketball, probably even football as well. I feel
- 53:05Speaker 5: like that's the future of metaverse, Like if you can
- 53:07Speaker 5: put oculus glasses on and be like right there in
- 53:11Speaker 5: the action, Like to me, as a sports fan, I
- 53:14Speaker 5: would pay for that. So I'm interested because like in
- 53:18Speaker 5: the in the States, uh, the NBA is moving heavy
- 53:22Speaker 5: into the metaverse, Like they just did something All Star
- 53:24Speaker 5: Weekend where the commissioner was talking to a hologram and
- 53:28Speaker 5: the Brooklyn Nets was the first NBA team to broadcast
- 53:32Speaker 5: games in the metaverse.
- 53:33Speaker 4: So netaverse they call it. They're actively moving into that.
- 53:38Speaker 5: I don't know if that's happening here, not yet, but
- 53:41Speaker 5: how do you how do you feel about that, Listen.
- 53:45Speaker 4: I think that the landscape change is so quick in tech,
- 53:49Speaker 4: and I just think that it's that that's something that
- 53:51Speaker 4: is definitely coming. Like you, like I said before, you
- 53:53Speaker 4: see so many these big companies that are already invested
- 53:55Speaker 4: in the metaverse that they've already been buying space. They're
- 53:57Speaker 4: already saying we're going to be coming in that space
- 53:59Speaker 4: right now. So I think as a matter of time,
- 54:02Speaker 4: I think the media, the media companies like in this country,
- 54:07Speaker 4: like BT, like Sky, like Amazon, that I know there's
- 54:10Speaker 4: gonna be plans to be going into that area. Football clubs,
- 54:15Speaker 4: I definitely see it, but I think by tradition, football
- 54:19Speaker 4: clubs are very, very skeptical of new things, old school,
- 54:24Speaker 4: and they'll wait to see the Brooklyn Nets, the NFL,
- 54:27Speaker 4: the NBA trial and error and then going after that.
- 54:31Speaker 4: I think I don't see it happening like immediate, but
- 54:35Speaker 4: but that's just because of the culture that's here because
- 54:39Speaker 4: football is quite an old school It's got old school
- 54:41Speaker 4: traits and they a lot of people really cling onto that,
- 54:44Speaker 4: and it's part of what makes football special as well.
- 54:47Speaker 4: So to to bring new elements to the game, like
- 54:50Speaker 4: we've only just got var and replays to help with
- 54:53Speaker 4: refereeing decisions like in the NFL. How long you've been
- 54:55Speaker 4: doing that, Yeah, I mean long time. We're exactly like
- 54:59Speaker 4: where we're probably twenty twenty five years behind in that sense.
- 55:03Speaker 4: That's and that's that is tech and essentially, so I
- 55:06Speaker 4: feel we'll be definitely coming up behind you guys at
- 55:09Speaker 4: some point.
- 55:10Speaker 7: One of the things that you talked about in the
- 55:13Speaker 7: media companies that you're shooting the documentaries, but I think
- 55:16Speaker 7: what kind of gets overlooked is that you actually have
- 55:19Speaker 7: autobiographies these book deals. Was that something that you in
- 55:24Speaker 7: your mind you knew you wanted to get your story
- 55:25Speaker 7: out to that format or with somebody like, hey, this
- 55:29Speaker 7: would be good for you as well.
- 55:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:31Speaker 4: I think it's also about controlling your narrative as well,
- 55:33Speaker 4: because I think a lot of things are said about
- 55:36Speaker 4: players and athletes over the years that like are they
- 55:39Speaker 4: really true? A lot of mate, a lot of them
- 55:40Speaker 4: aren't true and being able to control that. I think
- 55:45Speaker 4: with book deals, I think it's it's because a lot
- 55:47Speaker 4: of books do get written about certain players, but a
- 55:51Speaker 4: lot of time the player hasn't actually agreed to it
- 55:53Speaker 4: and been a part of the process. So to be
- 55:56Speaker 4: able to control that and be a part of that
- 55:57Speaker 4: is I think important for players if they if they
- 56:00Speaker 4: desire and want is out there for you to write
- 56:02Speaker 4: a book. But also, like with the documentaries that I've
- 56:04Speaker 4: done that are about my life and about certain aspects
- 56:06Speaker 4: of my life, a lot of it is to help
- 56:08Speaker 4: other people that what I went through with my wife
- 56:12Speaker 4: and my mum in quick succession, both passing away my
- 56:16Speaker 4: previous wife talking about that as a man and kind
- 56:23Speaker 4: of people always look at that masculine, that that machoism
- 56:27Speaker 4: that comes with men. Sometimes you have to be vulnerable
- 56:31Speaker 4: at times and showing emotion at times. I think there's
- 56:35Speaker 4: a lot of people out there that are probably unaware
- 56:37Speaker 4: of as to how that can benefit you when you're
- 56:40Speaker 4: going through really bad and downtimes. And I think just
- 56:44Speaker 4: showcasing that on a documentary for people to see it
- 56:47Speaker 4: and visualize it, I think can be powerful and can
- 56:50Speaker 4: change people's kind of fortunes a lot of the time. Yeah,
- 56:55Speaker 4: for sure.
- 56:56Speaker 5: Mental health extremely important, extremely important, especially for me, especially
- 56:59Speaker 5: for black men for sure.
- 57:03Speaker 4: Man feelings not cool? Yeah cool? Yeah. Music.
- 57:08Speaker 5: I understand you your big music enthusiasts too. I love music, man,
- 57:12Speaker 5: I love music.
- 57:13Speaker 4: How did you? I was just playing some big l
- 57:14Speaker 4: actually just introduced one of the guys.
- 57:17Speaker 5: He's just like, I don't I don't know this guy knows.
- 57:24Speaker 5: So what's your what's your vibe? Because I've been getting
- 57:28Speaker 5: educated on music in the U K. And I already
- 57:32Speaker 5: know like the drill music is heavy right now, and
- 57:35Speaker 5: then drill music is heavy in New York and its influence.
- 57:37Speaker 5: But then he was telling me that there's a music
- 57:38Speaker 5: that pre pre dates drill music, grime scene, the grime scene,
- 57:45Speaker 5: and then of course we know about scat that, we
- 57:46Speaker 5: know about gigs the national and we're gonna find it.
- 57:52Speaker 5: And what's my guy now Central City to it. I
- 58:00Speaker 5: feel like you guys in the culture right back to it.
- 58:04Speaker 5: So yeah, so what's the what's the vibe in lending
- 58:06Speaker 5: like as far as what's your musical taste that you
- 58:08Speaker 5: grew up on and what's like what's happening now that
- 58:10Speaker 5: you did, you like what I grew up on was.
- 58:13Speaker 4: Like, like my dad was big music that I used
- 58:16Speaker 4: to have vinyl along one wall in the house, so
- 58:19Speaker 4: we used to go out. I used to just put
- 58:21Speaker 4: like if he ever found out if I was a kid,
- 58:23Speaker 4: I don't known about it, but we used to go
- 58:25Speaker 4: to Sneak and just put like the Violet, Marvin Gay
- 58:27Speaker 4: and stuff like that, old school Barry White and stuff,
- 58:29Speaker 4: and then Temptations. And then as I got older, I
- 58:33Speaker 4: was just like I loved R and B, New Jack
- 58:36Speaker 4: swing hip hop. I love that as a kid, like Nas.
- 58:39Speaker 4: I used to love Nars when I was young, love
- 58:42Speaker 4: n Nas. But then like all Joe to see that
- 58:46Speaker 4: type of H Town and stuff like that, you know,
- 58:48Speaker 4: the moments you need in.
- 58:49Speaker 3: Your life, the moments I will cry.
- 58:54Speaker 4: Forever my lady and H Town. So like all that
- 58:58Speaker 4: type of stuff, jagged the exactly all them to have that.
- 59:06Speaker 4: That's that was, like I said, Donnelle Jones, like he
- 59:08Speaker 4: actually sang up my birthday when I was younger. Yeah,
- 59:10Speaker 4: I don't know, Yeah, it was. It was cool. So
- 59:12Speaker 4: all all that type of stuff. And then obviously as
- 59:14Speaker 4: you get like reggae has been a huge influence on
- 59:16Speaker 4: my life, Like raggar reggae, like that Barty Killer all
- 59:22Speaker 4: that I love, that's my probably go to Garnet Silk
- 59:28Speaker 4: people like that. But then you've got like that in England,
- 59:33Speaker 4: that's the thing. There was like jungle house grime and
- 59:39Speaker 4: then it's like obviously now you've got drill. But the
- 59:42Speaker 4: grime stuff was like when I was younger and I
- 59:44Speaker 4: was out and I was about it, like with like
- 59:47Speaker 4: you know, don't know if you know that Cano, Dizzy, Rascal, Skeptic, Jammy,
- 59:51Speaker 4: all them boys were coming out that you were. Now
- 59:53Speaker 4: like they're like part of the culture, deep in the
- 59:56Speaker 4: culture and set the standard and set everything for the
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: young guys now to come and they're just like they've
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: just killed it. All these young daw rappers and all
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: these other artists now are doing hip hop and rap.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: They're just they're actually making proper money, whereas the guys
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: before in their early days, it was difficult for them
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: to make money and that the system wouldn't really allow it.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: It wasn't as accepting. You look at the charts now,
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: afro Beats even you heard some afro beats yea, yeah,
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: he's in Nigeria. We interviewed David a wicked nice guy.
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: He's a United fan. Yea good guy.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: Chelsea the other day took a picture he was in
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: my DMS. Like wrong, wrong, I thought, Arsenal.
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: Arsenal, Yeah, yeah, you know that's that's good. But no,
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: like all that type of music, I love like and
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: I just love music in general. It's like, I'm not
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: too like, oh, I only listened to this music and
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: I hate that time. I just love good music and
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: hip hop like is a massive, especially the older hip hop.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: I'm more like, I like a lot of new stuff.
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: But nineties and early two grew up in the same time. Yeah,
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: so yeah, Biggie like big girl played this to these
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: young guys who don't understand. Man, they don't get the
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: same vibes we got.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: We gotta take them New York real quick.
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: I gotta do this from from a sports standpoint because
- 1:01:23Speaker 7: in America, probably one of the two, two of the
- 1:01:27Speaker 7: three most famous people that we knew it was David
- 1:01:30Speaker 7: Beckham and obviously Christian Ronaldo.
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: He's been around both.
- 1:01:34Speaker 7: What has that been like watching like that level of like,
- 1:01:38Speaker 7: I guess I don't even know what the level.
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: You know, do you know a mad thing. I'm not
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: like dropping names here. I went to say with David
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: David Beckham, whenever you turned up anywhere with Becks, it
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: was like it was like the Beatles to turn up.
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: It was just like it was just a crazy experience.
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: The hysteria that follows that guy is just mad. Like
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: he would turn a whole room upside down. From the
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: chicks to the old men to the kids, They're all
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: going upside down to get near and get a picture
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: of him. And you know what, it's mad because I
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: should just sometimes step back. Like I remember I was
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: at a fashion show in Paris once and Usher was there,
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: and I've done some stuff with Usher years ago. He
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: was there and we were talking and Bex was there
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: doing his thing, and obviously loads of people was around
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: him going crazy, and he went to me, don't don't you,
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: don't you get involved and stuff like that. So I
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: just said to me, I said, bro, I just like,
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: you've got to let him do what he's gonna do. Man,
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: I don't want to get caught up and all that stuff.
- 1:02:34Speaker 4: It's that crazy, like and he's at a fashion show
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: with a listers everywhere, and they're going nuts from and
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: he retired years ago. It's crazy. And then you've got
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: Natte Cristiano Ronaldo, who is just like another one's like
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: he flipped the game on its head in terms of
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: like numbers now that numbers on Instagram, and then everyone
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: looks at who's the biggest on Instagram and and probably
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: everyone in America would never really know that he's the
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: biggest guy on Instagram.
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: Peop were just having this conversation yesterday and we were
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: saying that somebody, one of our friends said that anywhere
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: he goes in the world, people is going to know
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: who he is. And I'm like, nah, not really, because
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: a lot of people in America, not really.
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: Anywhere outside of America he goes in the world. Everyone
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: that I don't think there's a place he goes in
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: the world outside of America. Listen, there's gonna be states
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: in America that people now, but when he turns up,
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: there will be there's everywhere he will go. Someone but
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: the hysteria. If you were saying who gets more craziness
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: around him, I'd say Christiano. Wow, you were saying him
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: versus Lebron And I'm saying anywhere outside of America, Christiano's
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: easy easy, Like, you know, the American sports stars like
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: they are fucking huge. They are like it's crazy, and
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: you look at it and the amount of money the
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: ones nowadays are making even years ago, but they amount
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: of money they're making. And for all of that, outside
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: of America, they can't compete with the top five, top
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: maybe top ten football players in the world in terms
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: of eyeballs and saying and hysteria. It's very different.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: As I said, even like from an Instagram standpoint, it's
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: not even close.
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: Bro neymar not even am Messi out of here? And
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: the money pog bar and is my guy money money? Christiano?
- 1:04:30Speaker 7: I mean Floyd he might be past them now, Floyd
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: Billionaire boys Club.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: They're the Billionaire boys Club. Messi is right there. He's
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: on it with number one like he was he had
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: he got to it.
- 1:04:40Speaker 7: Yeah, Well, Tiger Michael and Tiger bron Christiano Messi, they're
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: right there and they I meant.
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: I think the difference is is the endorsement deals in
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: America are different, right, They're crazy.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: They get these liars like the naked contract, They're crazy.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: One thing that mess before we grap I have this
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: question because I took a lik in the Neymark and
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: I was following his career and I remember when he
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: signed some deal it was crazy and they had to
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: pay like twenty million year.
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: Olds to transfer fee fee? What is the what's can
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: you explain that? So that in England, say a player
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: is signs a five year deal. Anytime in that five
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: years a club can approach the club who owns the
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: player and say we want that player, and the club
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: who owns that player will say, okay, if you want him,
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: we value him a one hundred million pounds. If you
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: want him, you can buy him and then you take
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: his contract, you renegotiate his personal contract, but you've got
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: to pay one hundred million pounds and you get to
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: take the player to the club. You paid one hundred
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: million pounds from club to club. Then the player then
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: negotiates his contract where you can't do that in American sports. No,
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: you can trade it, you get trade or you go
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: with your car. There's no but there's no transfer, whereas
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: in football with there's a fee. Every player has a
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: value so and back pay. Now if he's if he's
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: going for a free transfer, so he's he's at the
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: end of his contract, say he might have signed a
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: five year deal. He's now got his contract down to
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: at the end of the season will be zero, no years,
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: so there's no transfer fee. So you imagine what wages
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: he'll be asking for. He'll be saying, I'm worth two
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: hundred and fifty million pounds as a players and one
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: off fee to get my wages, I need to see
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: something that two hundred fifty million pound because I'm saving
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: you that by going to a free a zero on
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: my contract in length in time.
- 1:06:28Speaker 7: I think what Messy's contract was. It was rawan to
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: be like six hundred and sixty million.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: Yeah, his contract was crazy, man, serious.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: Six hundred and sixteen million.
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: So that's before endorsements.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Right, just the contract to play.
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: Crackers play. I've played in the wrong era, man, I've
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: played in the wrong era. Do you know what? I
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: used to have this conversation with one of my partners
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: in football, me and the Manu Vitach. Any football fans
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: out there, you'll know he is, and we sit there
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: and I sit there and go to him.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: Bro, we got it at the best time. We earned
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: the most money.
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: Oh my god, do you guys from five years ago,
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: ten years ago, they're looking at us like crazy, and
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: he used to go, yeah you think we are, So
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: he ain't going hard on this bro. These guys are
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: cleaned up different, but it's good to good luck to them.
- 1:07:15Speaker 7: We had this conversation the other day. We were saying, like,
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: such a great player, such a young talent. Every year
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: seems like there's a there's some type of transfer that's
- 1:07:23Speaker 7: about to happen with him.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: Why is it when he's playing for PSG with two
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: other all time grades? Why what? Like, what's the science
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: behind that?
- 1:07:31Speaker 7: Is he wants to be his star of his own
- 1:07:34Speaker 7: situation or like how does that way?
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: What's the psychology behind that?
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: I think it's because he's been there for about four
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: or five years and he's like, what more can I
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: do here? I need a new challenge. I think also
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: for I think it might be about like culture as well,
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: like to be considered the best in the world. Just
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: just imagine he's got to share the spotlight with two superstars.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: That are bigger than him.
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: Yeah yeah at the moment. But in terms of playing
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: who's playing the best football and you could argue say
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: it's him, But in terms of superstardom, he's probably third
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: on the wrong because of the time he's been in
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: the game compared to these guys, so he just made
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: Also that league isn't considered the best league that he
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: plays in. Gotta come here, We'll come to the Premier
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: League or the league will have two big clubs, Barcelona
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: and Real Madrid. And everyone's saying Madrid that he's gonna
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: go there, but historically they're huge clubs, so they still
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: have huge pool. It's like, it's like I'm in America.
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: You guys, what would be the NBA team that everyone
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: goes down? Lakers you got to go and pay for
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: If you get a chance away for the Lakers, you
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: got to do it. And that's what it's like when
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: you look at Sir Piers's a very new team.
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: And they always get a guy, so like they had
- 1:08:42Speaker 7: Koby Residents and then they got Brian so they lost.
- 1:08:45Speaker 9: Obviously, Christiano Ronaldo left to go to Italy. Take that
- 1:08:48Speaker 9: to yeah, and then Harland as well. Don't forget Harland.
- 1:08:51Speaker 9: He's he's other big talent. He's coming from Dortmund and
- 1:08:54Speaker 9: he's in I think he'll probably go to Barcelona maybe honestly,
- 1:08:57Speaker 9: he comes to the Premier League. But lost Messi so
- 1:09:00Speaker 9: it's just it's crazy. It's similar speaking of messy. This
- 1:09:03Speaker 9: is the age long debate, the old messy. Who is
- 1:09:08Speaker 9: the best? Let's add to it. Are you gonna say
- 1:09:10Speaker 9: all time?
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: Yeah, likes who's better career?
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: Are we putting in this conversation?
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: No? No, no, I'm not gonna say. That's a whole different conversation.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: Yea all the time?
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: Or he's the great he's like. It's difficult though, to say,
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: you know why, because look at the amount we can
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: see of these of these two guys, we see their
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: whole catalog. But with Pele, what do we see? We
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: don't have that history to be able to go, oh,
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: we only saw the World Cup really when he played
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: every day, so the World Cup came around every four years.
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: We only saw him really every four years. So to
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: judge him just on that, I think, is like I
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: almost have to put him to one side and say, yeah,
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: he's a great, maybe the greatest of all time. But
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: I wouldn't put him against these guys. I don't know
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: enough these two in this era. There's no one there.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: The numbers that these two have done, the consistency sustained
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: over a long period of time never been seen before
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: never ever. It's just it's outrageous time And at the
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: same time, it's like in tennis when you had like
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: I don't know, Federer and Djokovic, like you've really got that.
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: In football you had like mar Donald was the man,
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: Pelly was the man, but different eras now we had
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: two of them fighting against each other from Afar. It
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: was just a beautiful story. Who's the best? I like
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: to put it, I don't know, man, do you know what?
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: He's a man? You know, you know what careful.
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: Messy mess That messy is the artists of artists. Like
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: what he does on a pitch, providing chances for other people,
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: scoring beautiful goals, almost like just painting pictures around the pitch.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: He was just mesmeric to watch. You just was like,
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: this guy is from a different out of space. Cristiano
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: is the most decisive footballer.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: I've ever seen, size, talent, speed.
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: Just he decides games and you look through his career,
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: the biggest moments, this guy just steps up and just
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: scores and like they're both great, and it's almost like
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: it's just enjoy them, no matter who's the best, Just
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: to enjoy them, you know what I mean? Because it's
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: that close as well for me. When he's back here,
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: he's back in Manchester. They're not a good time many
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: having a good time.
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: Yeah, what'st when he started, It's been a pleasure my brother,
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: nice man.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: Thank you again. I'm a fan of the show Man,
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: so appreciate it. Appreciate it. Thank you for the hospitality.
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: Anything you want to tell the people before we rat
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: any projects you're working on anything?
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: No, you know what, I've got a sick project coming
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: out soon and we've actually got a crowd fund that
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: you guys might want to be interested in at some point.
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: But it's it's called We Are Eight. Go on the
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: app store. We Are eight. Go on to app store
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: and search it out. It's it's an unbelievable platform, social
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: platform where there's no hate, no toxicity, helps the environment.
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: But al's what the most import well, one of the
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: most important things it does alongside that is that it
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: economically empowers people. You watch an advert, you get paid.
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: And that's something that I've never seen before and never
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: gets done. I could never give back to my fans
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: or people that have championed me on social media. That's
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: enabled me to go and get big deals with other
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: commercial brands. Now I've got a viable, sustainable way of
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: giving back to the people that are championed me. As
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: long as they download that platform, download the app, they
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: can get paid to watch an advert two minutes a day.
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: Don't sick. So, by the way, don't forget where we are.
