- 0:00Speaker 1: M nice day to talk baseball in Alabama. Look at
- 0:08Speaker 1: at video bombing right at the top of the show
- 0:12Speaker 1: on national television. Guys, yeah, on national television.
- 0:16Speaker 2: There you go. So your wife goes where you're at.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hope your wife knows where you're at. She knows.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Now, some good fair harbor on you, Bron Persinski krats
- 0:27Speaker 1: with you. We're excited for some good guests later today,
- 0:29Speaker 1: so we look forward to that. We'll hit some good
- 0:31Speaker 1: stuff at the top. I want to do my shoutouts
- 0:33Speaker 1: again because we're not going to have time for all
- 0:36Speaker 1: of these. I was telling aj about Bryce terrang Kratz.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Do you know how many home runs he has this month?
- 0:43Speaker 1: You probably heard me already eleven maybe not nine. Do
- 0:48Speaker 1: you know how many home runs he had entering this month,
- 0:51Speaker 1: three six, and the prior two years it was six
- 0:56Speaker 1: and seven homers. So he's done more damage this month
- 1:00Speaker 1: basically than his entire career. That's cool.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I meantimes it just click Scott.
- 1:05Speaker 1: He does a lot of other things. Well, if he's
- 1:06Speaker 1: got pomp.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Now he's leading the charge for the brewker that's where
- 1:09Speaker 2: they got the best record in baseball. One of many
- 1:11Speaker 2: reasons they pitch they played defense, and they can swing
- 1:15Speaker 2: a little better than people give them credit for. And
- 1:17Speaker 2: they have a little more pop I think than people.
- 1:19Speaker 2: How many homers is Christian? Christianlis always has thirty, doesn't
- 1:21Speaker 2: he twenty eight or twenty nine?
- 1:23Speaker 1: Contraras has really picked it picked it up. That's why
- 1:25Speaker 1: when you look at that King Vaughan, Yeah, when you
- 1:28Speaker 1: look at the home run number for the year, I mean,
- 1:30Speaker 1: you're probably better off looking at it, say in the
- 1:32Speaker 1: second half or over a shorter period of time, to
- 1:35Speaker 1: see what that looks like. So props to Bryce best
- 1:38Speaker 1: trade pick up so far. I've got a name for.
- 1:43Speaker 2: You, Bryce Best. I mean Andrew Vaughn's got to be
- 1:45Speaker 2: high in the list.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Yeah, around the deadline. I wasn't thinking about that, but
- 1:51Speaker 1: you're right. Ramon Lariano, Oh yeah, he's Grand Slam yesterday.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Kratz.
- 1:58Speaker 1: He's been insane for them. He's got I think almost
- 2:00Speaker 1: a seven hundred slugging percentage in the last few weeks
- 2:03Speaker 1: since he joined them. That's good.
- 2:04Speaker 2: He's gonna play and.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Now he's gonna screw around and get at bats against righties.
- 2:08Speaker 3: They're not pinch hitting for him when they bring a
- 2:10Speaker 3: righty in like somehow they have romanely around up and
- 2:15Speaker 3: Gavin Sheets in the same lineup, and they're mixing in
- 2:18Speaker 3: O'Hearn at bats like it was a huge pickup. That's
- 2:22Speaker 3: clam glam yesterday.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Slam Diego, Slam diego. It was a good game.
- 2:28Speaker 1: We'll get to it later on and then one more.
- 2:30Speaker 1: This is going to lead into our first topic. Do
- 2:33Speaker 1: you know who returned yesterday and looked really good starting
- 2:37Speaker 1: pitcher was badly needed for this team that year. Yeah,
- 2:41Speaker 1: Kyle Bradish.
- 2:42Speaker 2: But I mean it's too little, too late.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I know. I'm just saying good to see him back.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Level on an individual Thursday, and he was you saw, Yeah,
- 2:50Speaker 2: he was in the locker and he was excited to
- 2:52Speaker 2: be able to pitch this year.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Bradish. Trevor Rodgers, your won two punch. Maybe Grace come
- 3:00Speaker 1: comes back. I'd still pick up a starter or two
- 3:04Speaker 1: in the off season. But anyway, walking back to him,
- 3:09Speaker 1: Chicano will be a free agent again. He gone, yeah,
- 3:14Speaker 1: we'll see, they'll have some Hopefully they take it seriously
- 3:17Speaker 1: this time around, and someone else is back. Let's charge
- 3:19Speaker 1: them ount charge. It had been one hundred games. You're down.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Alparez returns for the Astros. Over two, a couple of
- 3:31Speaker 1: walks walked in his first trip to the plate. That
- 3:34Speaker 1: doesn't matter. He's back and he was raking for his
- 3:36Speaker 1: several games in the minor leagues the way up, how
- 3:41Speaker 1: big this is for them?
- 3:43Speaker 3: Here?
- 3:43Speaker 2: Do you know? You don't need the fact that it's
- 3:45Speaker 2: our opening salvo on the show is tells you how
- 3:48Speaker 2: big it is for the Astros. Then when they give
- 3:50Speaker 2: Jake Myers back, I don't think Parades is probably coming
- 3:54Speaker 2: back this year because his hamstring tear poll was a
- 3:58Speaker 2: lot worse than they mentioned, like Shaun case style, But
- 4:02Speaker 2: it doesn't really matter. It's his presence in that lineup.
- 4:05Speaker 2: His presence in the lineup changes a lot of things. Yes,
- 4:08Speaker 2: I know they lost yesterday. It was one game, but
- 4:12Speaker 2: it's just a different lineup because they don't have that
- 4:14Speaker 2: lefty thumper when he's not in there, and they're very
- 4:17Speaker 2: right hand heavy. Now he's back, they have the lefty
- 4:19Speaker 2: dumper to break up the right He's what you need.
- 4:22Speaker 1: By the way, Kratz Parates is still hinting how to
- 4:25Speaker 1: comeback because he chose not to go with surgery and
- 4:28Speaker 1: to rehabit to give that outside chance of returning, So
- 4:32Speaker 1: I'm just throwing that out there. He's apparently been putting
- 4:36Speaker 1: stuff out on socials. On Monday, a couple of days ago,
- 4:40Speaker 1: he reposted a friend's photo of the news of his
- 4:43Speaker 1: season ending injury on his Instagram story, with the caption
- 4:47Speaker 1: coming soon Stronger Pradies.
- 4:53Speaker 3: That's great. I mean, it's great for the Astros, but
- 4:59Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean, you gotta you gotta make
- 5:02Speaker 3: sure you're back. Is eighty percent of Eastcoc parades better
- 5:07Speaker 3: than one hundred percent of whoever else they're gonna put
- 5:10Speaker 3: out there. I don't know, probably maybe, maybe big pinch.
- 5:14Speaker 3: We're gonna Kirk Gibson at bat off the bench EASTOC
- 5:18Speaker 3: Parades pull hooks one into the Crawford boxes and the playoffs.
- 5:24Speaker 3: He has the ability to They gotta make it first.
- 5:27Speaker 3: They gotta make it, and they really need They're not
- 5:30Speaker 3: gonna get that buy, but they really need to be
- 5:33Speaker 3: able to have their ducks in a row because of
- 5:36Speaker 3: the fact that their bullpen is much shorter. But we're
- 5:40Speaker 3: not talking about playoff chances. We're talking about your Don Alvarez.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Okay, so your lineup Bangrafts against Righty's Jeremy Pan, you're
- 5:50Speaker 1: leading off great year. Carlos kra in.
- 5:52Speaker 2: The two spot hot since he got to Houston.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Yep, Jose al two Bay in the spot. DH, you're
- 5:58Speaker 1: down Alvarez or you're done d H and Jose in
- 6:01Speaker 1: the outfield whatever they're doing there by the way, I
- 6:03Speaker 1: mean you're done. You're pretty much going to h right, Yeah,
- 6:06Speaker 1: more than likely. Yeah, or you would hope he mostly DHS,
- 6:11Speaker 1: Christian Walker, nop he's been better. He has been better.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Heyzus Sanchez after the.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Opra, Now you got five hits I did last week?
- 6:19Speaker 1: Ye, Ninds good hitting catching.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Him and Karatini, Kartini.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And Kartini, Yeah, kind of a wash. And then Dubon
- 6:28Speaker 1: and Meltain. It's a pretty good lineup.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 2: When's Jake Myers come back? I don't know his timetable
- 6:34Speaker 2: because he's having a great year.
- 6:36Speaker 1: He was Rake Myers and then I know they lost
- 6:39Speaker 1: yesterday to the Rockies six to one. But you've got
- 6:44Speaker 1: Hunter Brown, Franbervaldez if you catch him in a good
- 6:47Speaker 1: time period, which which is usually the case up until recently.
- 6:51Speaker 1: How do we feel about this team with jord On?
- 6:56Speaker 2: I think they're better, They're still in first place, which
- 7:00Speaker 2: is the crazy thing. They're They're just hanging on to
- 7:03Speaker 2: first place. It's like everyone's like, oh, the Mariners are
- 7:05Speaker 2: just gonna blow past them. It hasn't happened. So yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 2: every it's like every time the askers answers are two
- 7:13Speaker 2: up in the lost column.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Still they keep losing at the same time.
- 7:15Speaker 2: That's it's funny they win the same time, they lose
- 7:17Speaker 2: at the same time. Right, So how do I feel
- 7:20Speaker 2: about it? I mean, I think that they're gonna get
- 7:23Speaker 2: in now. The question is if they win the division,
- 7:24Speaker 2: then they got to play some other teams. Uh, they
- 7:27Speaker 2: lose that by They're pitching is a little short with
- 7:29Speaker 2: a bullpen especially, I don't know. But Houston, I'm not counting,
- 7:32Speaker 2: ever counting out Houston until someone buries them. That's it.
- 7:37Speaker 3: They're not variable. They're not gonna be variable, especially with
- 7:41Speaker 3: with or done. That's a that's a great lineup on paper,
- 7:44Speaker 3: but you take Jordan out of that lineup. Why was
- 7:47Speaker 3: this team in such a funk offensively? Were they trying
- 7:51Speaker 3: to do too much? Is it something that all you know,
- 7:55Speaker 3: this is their this is their window. They have to
- 7:58Speaker 3: win here and they're just not able to get it
- 8:00Speaker 3: done is too much pressure because they don't have who knows,
- 8:04Speaker 3: teams go through slides during the year. But when you
- 8:07Speaker 3: talk about that lineup compared to other lineups in the
- 8:11Speaker 3: American League, it's got to be one of the better ones.
- 8:15Speaker 3: That's why they're in the position that they're in. But
- 8:18Speaker 3: this team is going to They're going to go as
- 8:21Speaker 3: far as their lineup takes them. So this last month
- 8:24Speaker 3: of the season, month and a half, they're gonna have
- 8:26Speaker 3: to really show what they have and win a lot
- 8:31Speaker 3: of seven to six ball games.
- 8:34Speaker 1: You right on, Albres is by far their best bat,
- 8:36Speaker 1: their most clutch bat, such a danger in the playoffs.
- 8:39Speaker 1: They didn't have him for one hundred games.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I know. But here I disagree with what Crusher said.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Their lineup doesn't this team will go as far as
- 8:45Speaker 2: their bullpen carries them to because of the way with
- 8:49Speaker 2: Hater out and the way their bullpen of Brady is
- 8:52Speaker 2: being used now. So to me, it's not as far
- 8:54Speaker 2: their lineup takes them, it's how far their bullpen and
- 8:56Speaker 2: how many outs can joe a spot of steal from
- 8:58Speaker 2: the starters to save the bullpen at some point.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Okay, but I think the bullpen's gonna need to be
- 9:05Speaker 3: gonna need to be in there, and there's gonna be
- 9:07Speaker 3: some runs that have to be scored to back those
- 9:09Speaker 3: guys up. They have to be able to tack on
- 9:13Speaker 3: those extra runs. I'm not saying other teams don't, but
- 9:16Speaker 3: the Padres. The Padres have they have two bullpen nights,
- 9:21Speaker 3: they have three to four guys that then they can
- 9:24Speaker 3: roll out the next night and run three to four
- 9:26Speaker 3: guys out there. Obviously, we're talking about extremes. A team
- 9:29Speaker 3: that just lost one of the best closers in the
- 9:32Speaker 3: game and hater and now their bullpen is shrunk to
- 9:35Speaker 3: the team that has all bullpen in the Padres. So
- 9:39Speaker 3: that's the extremes. But this offense has to be able
- 9:43Speaker 3: to keep a whoever the long relief guy, I'm not
- 9:46Speaker 3: sure who's getting the bulk innings, the long relief innings
- 9:49Speaker 3: out of that pen. They're gonna need to be able
- 9:50Speaker 3: to keep the lead to the point where a spot
- 9:53Speaker 3: of feels like I can keep that guy out there.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yeah, bullpen's problem, That's what I'm saying to me. It's
- 10:01Speaker 2: more important and the lineup can break all you want,
- 10:03Speaker 2: but if you can't hold leads.
- 10:04Speaker 1: It doesn't matter, especially in the playoffs. Bennetts Us is
- 10:06Speaker 1: hurt and shut down for a couple of weeks. I
- 10:08Speaker 1: think he's a week into that right now too.
- 10:10Speaker 2: If use those guys, they've heard those guys pretty hard.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Yeah all right, so we'll see. But Houston still there
- 10:16Speaker 1: at the top and they get their big boy backpack,
- 10:18Speaker 1: then might have to slug their way to some wins.
- 10:24Speaker 1: FT fam, Welcome to the World's most comfortable swimwear For
- 10:28Speaker 1: a moment, we are talking about Fair Harbor. We actually
- 10:31Speaker 1: have some show and tell today. This is the liner
- 10:35Speaker 1: that you're working with inside of the shorts and the
- 10:40Speaker 1: bathing suits.
- 10:41Speaker 2: You know what the best part is about this, Scott
- 10:42Speaker 2: what they have a lot of different options because these
- 10:44Speaker 2: are clearly yours because I would never order this pattern.
- 10:47Speaker 1: But that is so mazing. That is so many these
- 10:49Speaker 1: are so.
- 10:49Speaker 2: You Mine are a little bit more plain than this, yes,
- 10:52Speaker 2: but they are super comfortable. The liner. I love liner shorts.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Some people don't, but these liners are better than most
- 10:58Speaker 2: that I've had on if not all.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the best liner out.
- 11:01Speaker 3: There, no mash all the above.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Is perfect, exactly, It's really good. You got to give
- 11:06Speaker 1: it a shot. Also fun random fact. You get a

- 11:22Speaker 1: use that promo code foul so they know.
- 11:24Speaker 3: FT sent yet.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Smells good too.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I stand by that Fair Harbor shirt smell fantastic. I'm serious.
- 11:31Speaker 1: They just they smell different like the SEC. It's just different.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Clayton Kershaw looking like he might be a postseason starter
- 11:38Speaker 1: for the Dodgers. He might mess around and start a
- 11:40Speaker 1: playoff game for them, right guys? I mean aj sub
- 11:43Speaker 1: two era in August five innings, one run against Cincinnati,
- 11:46Speaker 1: three oh six ERA on the season.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Is he starting a playoff game right now? He is?
- 11:49Speaker 2: But let me let me explain something.
- 11:50Speaker 3: You.
- 11:51Speaker 2: We had a whole talk with multiple people on the
- 11:53Speaker 2: Dodgers about Clayton Kershaw on Saturday. You know what the
- 11:56Speaker 2: city does. It's kind of like when I kept talking
- 11:58Speaker 2: about Jason Alexander. He kind of throws under the hitting speed.
- 12:01Speaker 2: But he knows. It's like a Maddox when we've talked
- 12:04Speaker 2: to Maddox earlier, and when he comes on when he's
- 12:06Speaker 2: running his ye, his whole thing about like I knew
- 12:09Speaker 2: where to put the ball and I knew how to pitch.
- 12:12Speaker 2: That's what Kershaw does know. He knows how to throw
- 12:13Speaker 2: that big curveball. He can backdoor the slider, he can
- 12:16Speaker 2: backfoot the slider and then he runs ninety up there
- 12:19Speaker 2: at the top of the zone and people swing and
- 12:20Speaker 2: miss at it because they're not ready for it. But
- 12:22Speaker 2: he knows how to pitch. He's just good at what
- 12:25Speaker 2: he does. He's one of the best of all time
- 12:27Speaker 2: for a reason. I don't care how already throws. He's
- 12:28Speaker 2: Clayton freaking Kershaw. He's good.
- 12:30Speaker 1: You have to kratz when you've got the stuff like that.
- 12:33Speaker 3: These days, can we can we stop having the surprised
- 12:36Speaker 3: voice that Scott had when he was like Clayton Kershaw.
- 12:40Speaker 3: He did good. I mean, is he a playoff? No,
- 12:44Speaker 3: I don't think he's starting for them right now in
- 12:47Speaker 3: a game, because you have you want to have Snell
- 12:49Speaker 3: Glass now and Yamamoto, So I don't think the time
- 12:52Speaker 3: starting unless they get to a game seven. I think
- 12:55Speaker 3: he started not starting before those three guys fourney. If
- 13:00Speaker 3: they need a fourth guy, he's the guy. But let's
- 13:02Speaker 3: stop being surprised. Clayton Kershall does this every year. He's
- 13:06Speaker 3: on the mount.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Hot corner time. One of the best pitchers in baseball
- 13:12Speaker 1: this year is Nathan e. Baldi, a one to seven,
- 13:15Speaker 1: three ERA, one hundred and thirty innings and now likely
- 13:19Speaker 1: done for the season with the rotator cuff strain. He
- 13:22Speaker 1: said he was a little surprised when he saw the results,
- 13:24Speaker 1: but it is not looking good for him to return.
- 13:27Speaker 1: It is also very much not looking like the Rangers
- 13:30Speaker 1: are going to make the playoffs this year, a team
- 13:31Speaker 1: that many picks to do some damage.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, well, you see the list right there. They've
- 13:37Speaker 2: lost to Valdi, Carter, Sumi, and Gray for the season
- 13:39Speaker 2: are close to it, so it makes it really hard.
- 13:41Speaker 2: They haven't hit all year. They pitched really well. I
- 13:43Speaker 2: don't know if they still do, but at one point
- 13:45Speaker 2: they had the best dra in the league, so I
- 13:47Speaker 2: don't know if they still do. I haven't checked the
- 13:49Speaker 2: stats lately, but they're they're four and a half back.
- 13:52Speaker 2: They're five in the loss look at the losses. Forget
- 13:54Speaker 2: the wild card games back like, look at the you
- 13:56Speaker 2: gotta look at the losses because you can't make those
- 13:58Speaker 2: losses up. So, yeah, they're five hundred team. That's what
- 14:02Speaker 2: they've been all year. They're just a They're a five
- 14:03Speaker 2: hundred team with a lot of stars that just aren't
- 14:05Speaker 2: doing what they do they should be doing offensively, especially.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Dang it, dang it. When you've seen Nathan EVOLDI get hurt.
- 14:14Speaker 3: That's all I say. Like, people need to look into
- 14:17Speaker 3: the numbers that he was putting up this year under
- 14:20Speaker 3: two era. He's thirty, I forget thirty five years old.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Thirty five years old, and this is a guy that,
- 14:31Speaker 3: to me, I think he changes teams because of the
- 14:34Speaker 3: fact that if you're in the playoffs, you can trust
- 14:38Speaker 3: him to come into big spots. There's he's on a
- 14:40Speaker 3: short list of big time playoff pitchers. And they're not
- 14:45Speaker 3: gonna make it this year. I think they've been out.
- 14:47Speaker 3: They've been on the outside looking in for a while now,
- 14:50Speaker 3: but the numbers got close. There are a few games out.
- 14:53Speaker 3: They're making a run, but the run happened when they
- 14:56Speaker 3: were when their offense was going. There has to be
- 14:59Speaker 3: an adjustment there, and I don't know that that adjustment
- 15:03Speaker 3: can be made this year. It has to it has
- 15:06Speaker 3: to be made next year, unfortunately, and hopefully all these
- 15:09Speaker 3: guys come back healthy from their various injuries.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I remember at some point early in the season, or
- 15:15Speaker 1: it might have even been before the season, we were like,
- 15:18Speaker 1: how many starts from Jacob de gram for this team
- 15:21Speaker 1: to be a division winner or a rid everyone has
- 15:24Speaker 1: right if I told you Jacob de Graham, at thirty
- 15:28Speaker 1: seven years old, has made twenty five starts with a
- 15:29Speaker 1: sub three ERA this year. Like, damn, the Rangers are good.
- 15:33Speaker 2: That's what you saying. They haven't hit for two years now.
- 15:36Speaker 2: They haven't hit for two years now, the way that
- 15:38Speaker 2: we think they're cable, Maybe this is what they are.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Maybe twenty three was a fluke.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Sometimes hangovers can last a really long time.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I've heard watch one of those movies. I don't drink,
- 15:49Speaker 2: so I don't know.
- 15:49Speaker 1: All right, but if you did, it could last years.
- 15:52Speaker 1: It's lasting two years in Arlington right now.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I will say when you say something.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the Rangers are stacking cups, they're stacking strikeouts,
- 16:05Speaker 1: They're they're not scoring runs, crats.
- 16:08Speaker 3: I think this. I think the stadium changed. I think
- 16:11Speaker 3: that's the big thing. Like I don't even know what
- 16:14Speaker 3: they're calling the stadium now, but the new stadium is
- 16:18Speaker 3: playing so tough for these hitters. It is playing twenty three.
- 16:24Speaker 2: They won it there in twenty three, and I'm about
- 16:28Speaker 2: the same stadium, globe life.
- 16:30Speaker 3: And what did what did we all change? There's no
- 16:33Speaker 3: they didn't like renovate the new stadium. What did we change?
- 16:36Speaker 3: I think they got the Human Door too. I think
- 16:39Speaker 3: something about that change made a huge difference there and
- 16:44Speaker 3: another team that had a really, really good offense that
- 16:47Speaker 3: now their offense is kind of gone down a little bit.
- 16:50Speaker 3: I think it changed more than people want to.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Look at the other team. What's the other Atlanta?
- 16:55Speaker 3: Atlanta? Atlanta's the second highest elevation in baseball.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yes, we know this is it. The Human Door has
- 17:04Speaker 2: been in play for more than two years.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Actually, theories. I get really excited about them. Crowd at
- 17:11Speaker 1: least one a week and it's.
- 17:13Speaker 2: So do you tell me the reason they can't hit
- 17:14Speaker 2: on at home or on the road is because of
- 17:16Speaker 2: the humid door. I mean they can't hit four sing
- 17:20Speaker 2: fastballs because the balls are more humid. So therefore they
- 17:22Speaker 2: stay straighter. Just but every if every team's using the
- 17:25Speaker 2: human humid door, every ball should move the same, right they.
- 17:29Speaker 3: So they just stopped hitting forcing fastballs. Dolly's gonna say it,
- 17:33Speaker 3: just stopped stopped hitting forty homers.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Age has up to you.
- 17:39Speaker 3: They all got they all got older, They all got
- 17:42Speaker 3: a year older. Every team got a year older. Corey
- 17:45Speaker 3: Seeger is still in his prime.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Okay, he's doing fine. He's doing fine. Marcus Simons a
- 17:51Speaker 2: little bit older now.
- 17:54Speaker 3: All of a sudden, All of a sudden, Jonah got hurt.
- 17:56Speaker 2: He can't. Jonahan got hurt. He's not as good anymore.
- 17:58Speaker 1: We have to bring Brett Boone back on and find
- 18:00Speaker 1: out what he has observed over the last few months.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I mean, Evan Carter has been hurt pretty much since
- 18:06Speaker 2: the World Series. Listen, they called lightning in a bottle.
- 18:08Speaker 2: I was on a team that did done in two
- 18:09Speaker 2: thousand and five. We callt lightning in a bottle, and
- 18:11Speaker 2: everything went right, we won right.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Evan Carter was ridiculous.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Evan Carter was ridiculous, but the whole Rangers team that
- 18:17Speaker 2: year was unbelievable. That's what I'm saying. For two years
- 18:21Speaker 2: now a Dullis hasn't been the same guy. Simeon has
- 18:24Speaker 2: really fallen off the shwayat Langford. Hasn't been what they
- 18:26Speaker 2: thought he'd be. He's a good player, but they thought
- 18:27Speaker 2: he was going to be a superstar. No, he's still
- 18:29Speaker 2: got plenty of time.
- 18:30Speaker 1: To get there, time to spend some money in the
- 18:32Speaker 1: off season for some bats.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Yeah, but they've they've you know, they've brought Yeah, not
- 18:39Speaker 2: that so Josh Young hasn't been what they thought he
- 18:41Speaker 2: was gonna be.
- 18:42Speaker 1: What Cedar and Semi and it was four years.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Ago, Okay, but yes, but I'm saying they brought in
- 18:49Speaker 3: guys that were doing exactly what you guys said. Their
- 18:51Speaker 3: issue is they can't hit the four same fastball. Who
- 18:54Speaker 3: are we going to go get four same fastball hitters
- 18:56Speaker 3: all of a sudden they can't hit a four same
- 18:59Speaker 3: fastball either.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Josh Peterson is older. Jake Berger was in Triple
- 19:04Speaker 2: A this year.
- 19:06Speaker 3: I'm saying it didn't work. I'm saying it didn't work.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Something is not working there and the stadium has to
- 19:14Speaker 3: be affecting these guys in some way or else. Hey,
- 19:18Speaker 3: you know what, maybe we just need to look at
- 19:20Speaker 3: twenty twenty three as an aberration and this is a
- 19:23Speaker 3: five hundred two.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Well that's more of what it is. They just summed
- 19:28Speaker 2: it up right there.
- 19:28Speaker 1: We said it about the Blue Jays, Oh they can't hit.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Suddenly with the renovations, now they can hit this year.
- 19:34Speaker 1: We said it about the Mariners, Oh they can't hit there.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Now they can hit this year.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah, well they went and got some dudes that can hit.
- 19:39Speaker 1: That's my point.
- 19:39Speaker 2: I mean, cal rawling, he's got fifty home runs in
- 19:41Speaker 2: a place where you're not supposed to be able to
- 19:42Speaker 2: hit home runs.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Randy Roseraina looks damn good too.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Yeah, So listen, gldlife is big. It is large, and
- 19:50Speaker 2: you have to hit it to get homers out of there.
- 19:53Speaker 2: It is a big part. It is a large part.
- 19:55Speaker 2: And trust me, when you go in there and you
- 19:57Speaker 2: see it and you hear the hitters talk about it,
- 19:58Speaker 2: they're like, oh, man, you got a crush and you
- 20:00Speaker 2: get it out of here. But both teams have to
- 20:02Speaker 2: do that, and the other kids are scoring runs there
- 20:04Speaker 2: against them enough to not help them come in. And
- 20:06Speaker 2: they also play anyone games on the road. They're pitching
- 20:09Speaker 2: anyone games on the road.
- 20:11Speaker 3: You do, but their pitching staff is one of them.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Has the best era, had the best era in baseball?
- 20:17Speaker 3: Watch how de gram is pitching? Is it? And you
- 20:19Speaker 3: of all these pitching two dudes that would routinely sit
- 20:22Speaker 3: ninety eight to one hundred. Are they getting older? Yes,
- 20:25Speaker 3: I agree they're getting older, but maybe make Mike Maddox's
- 20:29Speaker 3: help them understand that, dude, balls are not coming out
- 20:33Speaker 3: going out of this ballpark. Let's pitch a little bit.
- 20:36Speaker 3: And it's starting to work. Teams might have to change
- 20:39Speaker 3: how they how they go after their offseason acquisitions. A
- 20:43Speaker 3: team that spent over a billion dollar, over half a
- 20:46Speaker 3: billion dollars on two guys in Seeger and Simeon to
- 20:49Speaker 3: increase their offense, and maybe they're going to go just
- 20:53Speaker 3: all pitching from now on.
- 20:56Speaker 2: It works. They won the World Series. You always say
- 20:57Speaker 2: it doesn't matter if you win the World Series. It worked.
- 21:00Speaker 2: They won a World Series. Boom, move on. I mean,
- 21:02Speaker 2: maybe they just had a great year and everything came together. Great,
- 21:05Speaker 2: that happens. Stuff happens every once in a while. That happened.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Hard to create a dynasty in baseball. How many back
- 21:10Speaker 1: to back jamps since the Yankees a quarter century ago? None? Oh?
- 21:17Speaker 3: Game.
- 21:17Speaker 1: That's why it's fun to cover.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Oh wait, no, we don't we have it.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Yeah, hey, Mallar was just on he said thriving right, yeah, yeah, krats.
- 21:33Speaker 1: If you need to pay rent for your apartment and
- 21:35Speaker 1: you're not getting anything for it, then you probably haven't
- 21:37Speaker 1: heard of Built.
- 21:39Speaker 3: You have to pay rent every single month, why not
- 21:42Speaker 3: get some points that you can redeem for other things
- 21:44Speaker 3: that are a lot more fun than paying rent, like flights, hotels,
- 21:48Speaker 3: uber rides.
- 21:50Speaker 1: That's right, and it doesn't stop there. Built is about
- 21:53Speaker 1: making your entire neighborhood more rewarding. You can dine at
- 21:56Speaker 1: your favorite local restaurants, and you can earn additional points
- 21:59Speaker 1: with the IP treatment at certain fitness studios, and you
- 22:02Speaker 1: can also enjoy exclusive experiences that are just for Built members.
- 22:06Speaker 1: They announce them every month. Built is turning a monthly

- 22:12Speaker 1: best that your neighborhood has to offer. Your rent is
- 22:15Speaker 1: finally working for you, and you can earn points on
- 22:17Speaker 1: rent and around your neighborhood wherever you call home by
- 22:20Speaker 1: going to join Built dot com slash foul that's j
- 22:23Speaker 1: O I n b I l t dot com slash
- 22:26Speaker 1: f o u L make sure to use our ur
- 22:28Speaker 1: L so they know that FT sent you get after it. Hey,
- 22:35Speaker 1: Wilson Contreres got six games, not Hefty, Sorry, Bob our
- 22:40Speaker 1: Buddy Bob Nightingale tweeted, hefty that.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Is, if Rob's got ten, why did he only get six?
- 22:47Speaker 2: Because it doesn't make sense.
- 22:48Speaker 1: And he's appealing, so it'll probably go to five.
- 22:51Speaker 2: But if Roblay's got ten for chucking about, why did
- 22:53Speaker 2: controls only get six?
- 22:56Speaker 1: He was attempting physical harm on it ump twice they
- 23:00Speaker 1: held him back. He looked like he was ready to
- 23:02Speaker 1: punch the guy.
- 23:03Speaker 2: He had those eyes that you don't want to mess
- 23:04Speaker 2: with when you see certain looks and certain when you
- 23:06Speaker 2: see looks and eyes, there are just times where you're like, somebody,
- 23:10Speaker 2: let's grab him and just gonna take a whole lot
- 23:12Speaker 2: of us to find him.
- 23:13Speaker 1: But so now the president is sent craft. If you
- 23:16Speaker 1: throw a bat at an umpire and it doesn't hit him,
- 23:18Speaker 1: it's six games.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Maybe they deemed it wasn't thrown at the umpire. Maybe
- 23:23Speaker 3: he was trying to throw it at Brent Brown's face.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I don't yeah, right, but like I said, like I
- 23:29Speaker 3: said yesterday, maybe it's maybe it was the malicious intent
- 23:33Speaker 3: of it, Like this was just kind of like a
- 23:35Speaker 3: like a backhand flip kind of John.
- 23:38Speaker 2: But I mean, you can't justify this. Quit trying to
- 23:44Speaker 2: justify you can't. He threw his bat in the direction
- 23:46Speaker 2: of the umpire. Everyone's trying to justify it. He didn't
- 23:48Speaker 2: throw it as hard as Rodblaze. He also hit his
- 23:50Speaker 2: hitting coach in the face with a bat.
- 23:53Speaker 3: It's so dangerous when you throw a bat, and I
- 23:55Speaker 3: think in.
- 23:56Speaker 1: The middle of a scrum, you throw a bat soft
- 23:59Speaker 1: like it was this same thing with the Roblay stuff.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Because I've gone back and forth all week with fans
- 24:02Speaker 1: who are like, well, did you see the background with
- 24:05Speaker 1: the pitcher and whatever else? And I'm like, totally get it.
- 24:07Speaker 1: What was going on there with him getting hit was wrong.
- 24:09Speaker 1: He should have charged the mound and slubbed him in
- 24:11Speaker 1: the face with his hands. Hey, busy day on the
- 24:16Speaker 1: waiver wire yesterday six veterans placed on outright right, Bob
- 24:20Speaker 1: Nightingale reporting on it. The name that stands out for most,
- 24:24Speaker 1: Carlos Santana didn't work out for the Cleveland Guardians.
- 24:29Speaker 2: No, And you know what, they're not probably gonna make
- 24:30Speaker 2: the playoffs. So if they have a young guy in
- 24:32Speaker 2: Triple A, they can bring up and let him have it,
- 24:33Speaker 2: let him have a little run here.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Well, he already lost playing time, comments Arter and tjkfis
- 24:37Speaker 1: sir grabbing all the playing time?
- 24:39Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 24:39Speaker 1: And for Santana Kratz, I mean he still can take
- 24:43Speaker 1: a walk, but at no pop, this is nothing on
- 24:47Speaker 1: him in his careers at a great run. But when
- 24:49Speaker 1: they made this little switcheroo in the off season, Carlos
- 24:52Speaker 1: Santana is not Josh Naylor Cleveland. Was it worth the
- 24:56Speaker 1: pick and slay CHACONI? I don't think so. I'm my mind.
- 25:00Speaker 1: If you were trying to compete this year.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Not Yeah, that's the biggest part. Not this year. I
- 25:05Speaker 3: don't think it was worth it this year. Is it later?
- 25:08Speaker 3: You know they weren't gonna they weren't gonna bring Naylor
- 25:11Speaker 3: back after this season. Did they feel like this year
- 25:14Speaker 3: was the year? They always feel like this year is
- 25:17Speaker 3: the year, But they make decisions for the next year,
- 25:21Speaker 3: which is the year. And this is why a team
- 25:23Speaker 3: like the Guardians, you are gonna have some up and
- 25:26Speaker 3: down times. Man, I didn't I didn't see Santana dropping
- 25:31Speaker 3: off this much, but he did. And you see what
- 25:35Speaker 3: Naylor's doing, especially now he's going to gone to Seattle.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I mean he made adjustments, lowered his strikeout rate up
- 25:42Speaker 3: to his walk raid, He's stealing bases stuff. It'll be
- 25:47Speaker 3: nice to have because the Guardians have been in it
- 25:49Speaker 3: for a little minute, for a minute here, and every
- 25:51Speaker 3: little bit counts.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Can we show that tweet again? I just no, okay, sorry,
- 25:57Speaker 2: I was confused.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Sorry, And they can't hit the Guardians can't. And in
- 26:01Speaker 1: the off season I was like, so same price, Naylor
- 26:06Speaker 1: replaced by Santana. No thanks, mistake.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you're right, but they wanted to make that
- 26:16Speaker 2: trade and it didn't work out. Sometimes trades will work out.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Teams try to go and cheaper, and they should have
- 26:22Speaker 2: just kept her.
- 26:23Speaker 1: And he was his heart and soul.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Guys, Naylor was the heart and soul big. They messed
- 26:27Speaker 2: up huge presence in the room.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I know they weren't his term, but like, did that
- 26:34Speaker 1: trade mean enough to you long term that it was
- 26:36Speaker 1: worth not having him for a season when you are
- 26:38Speaker 1: contending in a down al that you just made it
- 26:40Speaker 1: to the Alcs in make it makes sense.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I can't exactly.
- 26:45Speaker 1: So Santana can get claimed. You'd have to pick up
- 26:49Speaker 1: the two million left for him this year. He probably won't,
- 26:51Speaker 1: but a team might pick him up for the league minimum.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that was my question. How many of these guys
- 26:56Speaker 2: get picked up?
- 26:56Speaker 1: Yeah, better than box scores. We go live to our
- 27:04Speaker 1: reporter on the scene in Pennsylvania for the latest on
- 27:07Speaker 1: the Phillies and the Mets series, Sarah Kratz. Have the
- 27:09Speaker 1: Phillies figured out City Field yet?
- 27:12Speaker 3: Yeah? They took down the speaker in center field, so
- 27:15Speaker 3: it should have worked, I mean the microphone in center field,
- 27:18Speaker 3: so they figured it out right, came up on a
- 27:20Speaker 3: losing end again. The concerning part. The concerning part I
- 27:26Speaker 3: think for Phillies fans, which is probably the weakest part
- 27:29Speaker 3: of this team, is the bullpen. And they lost another
- 27:34Speaker 3: lead again. Yes, I get it Lozardo. Those are Lozardo's runs,
- 27:38Speaker 3: but the bullpen in City Field has had struggles, back
- 27:45Speaker 3: to Jeff Hoffman giving up the Grand Slam last year
- 27:49Speaker 3: to Lindor, to last night Johan Duran giving up four hits,
- 27:56Speaker 3: four singles, which I think is a little bit easier
- 27:58Speaker 3: to swallow than walks. Some closers. They give you the
- 28:02Speaker 3: tight rope and it's the walks. But this is I
- 28:06Speaker 3: hear the Phillies fans. They are like, we can't beat
- 28:08Speaker 3: the Mets and the players. We have to face the Mets.
- 28:11Speaker 3: We're not gonna win. There's no way we can't face
- 28:14Speaker 3: the Mets in the playoffs.
- 28:17Speaker 1: It's concerning. There's no Wheeler uh, Diz out pitched, Daran
- 28:21Speaker 1: Diaz was great in the eighth and Duran gives.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Poor Kylee cover cannot of d If you look at
- 28:27Speaker 2: those numbers, you want to see some good numbers. Look
- 28:30Speaker 2: at that number.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Can't hit at City Field?
- 28:32Speaker 2: And now because they take the microphone down, you know
- 28:34Speaker 2: what they're.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Calling it the bone mic, like a boom mic. They're
- 28:37Speaker 1: like the bone mic.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. You know when he said I effing
- 28:41Speaker 2: don't like this places. Yeah, I should have said that
- 28:43Speaker 2: about City Field and the mic. Yeah.
- 28:45Speaker 1: But in all seriousness, should Phillies fans be concerned or
- 28:48Speaker 1: is it more of a Mets fans excited that this
- 28:50Speaker 1: team's turning things around.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Oh, the Met's gonna win. Are the Mets gonna win
- 28:53Speaker 2: the division?
- 28:54Speaker 1: They're five games back. I think they're on I think
- 28:57Speaker 1: they need maybe one or two more to win the
- 28:58Speaker 1: season series, still tall task they play each other again, though.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Yeah, one more to win the series.
- 29:07Speaker 1: For the Mets, right, So then if you do level up,
- 29:10Speaker 1: then you get the advantage. I mean, still krats five
- 29:14Speaker 1: games with a few weeks to go.
- 29:17Speaker 3: I don't think. I don't think there's concern about the division. Look,
- 29:20Speaker 3: if they lose the division, the Phillies have some serious issues.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Their offense will go in the tank, all their starting
- 29:27Speaker 3: pitchers will have gone in the tank. Like, I don't
- 29:30Speaker 3: I don't think they're losing the division. Do you want
- 29:34Speaker 3: to beat a team that then goes into another city
- 29:36Speaker 3: and plays lackluster. Yes, But the Mets clearly are getting
- 29:41Speaker 3: up for the Phillies. Vento's Mark Ventos is hitting the
- 29:46Speaker 3: ball to the opposite field now and driving runs in
- 29:49Speaker 3: like he was at the end of last season. At
- 29:51Speaker 3: lengthens their lineup out, they're taking their walks, they're taking
- 29:54Speaker 3: pitches like to me yesterday, Lozardo had great stuff. He
- 29:59Speaker 3: was ninety nine nine to one hundred, and in some
- 30:02Speaker 3: of the at bats his velocity kind of dipped a
- 30:05Speaker 3: little bit and then ray at the end when he
- 30:07Speaker 3: got into some trouble. He tried to bring it back up.
- 30:10Speaker 3: But you know the Mets. The Mets weren't just all
- 30:13Speaker 3: or nothing. They put together good at bats. They're figuring
- 30:16Speaker 3: out ways to beat this team. Even after Bader comes
- 30:19Speaker 3: up with a huge swing. I still think some of
- 30:22Speaker 3: the underbelly issues of the Mets are gonna be their
- 30:26Speaker 3: biggest issues. And Hellsley showed that last night. They're starting
- 30:30Speaker 3: pitching isn't going past five and they don't need that
- 30:34Speaker 3: in the playoffs, but you need it to get to
- 30:36Speaker 3: the playoffs to make your bullpen healthy.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Fourteen runs, ten and runs in ten appearances for Ryan
- 30:42Speaker 1: Helsley Right now with the Mets.
- 30:43Speaker 2: It hasn't been good. I mean he's been a closer
- 30:46Speaker 2: and now he's asked to pitch the eighth inning. It
- 30:49Speaker 2: hasn't been good. It hasn't been good, especially for a
- 30:51Speaker 2: free agent year. He wanted to go in there and
- 30:53Speaker 2: do well, and you know he listened. They brought him
- 30:55Speaker 2: in there to get bridge the gap to Diaz. He
- 30:57Speaker 2: has been great all year. He has been unbelieve well,
- 31:00Speaker 2: won five ERA, one six ERA or something like that.
- 31:03Speaker 2: So yeah, they brought him in. He he just hasn't
- 31:06Speaker 2: been able to do it. And by the way, Schwarber's
- 31:08Speaker 2: oh for ten with eight punches off of Edwin Diaz
- 31:10Speaker 2: in the regular season and the playoffs. Theers more and
- 31:13Speaker 2: some guy in the chat said, he almost hit a
- 31:15Speaker 2: home run last night. Yeah, Well, I almost did a
- 31:16Speaker 2: lot of things in my life and they didn't work
- 31:18Speaker 2: out and I stuck out.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Hey, one more X factor here, in addition to the
- 31:23Speaker 1: fact that the Phillies have lost twenty three of twenty
- 31:25Speaker 1: nine at City and the Mets have really turned things
- 31:28Speaker 1: around on offense. By the way, the most run scored
- 31:30Speaker 1: since August twelfth. That's a solid two and a half
- 31:33Speaker 1: week stretch. They couldn't hit with a run scoring position
- 31:35Speaker 1: all year. Now their second best in the month of August, right,
- 31:38Speaker 1: So the offense is finding it lately. They decided Kratz
- 31:43Speaker 1: that they did not do everything right in the offseason
- 31:46Speaker 1: with picking winners pitching wise, so they actually have done
- 31:49Speaker 1: a really nice job of developing high end pitching prospects.
- 31:54Speaker 1: They go, you know what, we're thinking Nolan McLain next year.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Let's call him up this year and give him a shot.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Two good starts join a tongue. The best stuff in
- 32:01Speaker 1: the minor leagues right now, dominating in the upper levels
- 32:04Speaker 1: all year, twenty something starts, I think like a one
- 32:07Speaker 1: something era strikeout to walk ratio elite. They did not
- 32:11Speaker 1: think at the beginning of the season he was going
- 32:13Speaker 1: to be a part of the mix for them in
- 32:14Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. He's starting on Friday, so you might
- 32:18Speaker 1: have a new looking rotation for the New York Mets.
- 32:22Speaker 3: I mean, if he does what McLean's done in his
- 32:25Speaker 3: short stint in the big leagues, and supposedly everybody's saying
- 32:29Speaker 3: his stuff is better from a command and a stuff standpoint,
- 32:34Speaker 3: I don't know whatever it's called stuff. Plus it's yep,
- 32:38Speaker 3: it's impressive. He's an athletic. They're both athletic pitchers. The
- 32:43Speaker 3: starting rotation needs this jolt. And now it's going to
- 32:46Speaker 3: be up to Mendy to be like, Okay, you normally
- 32:49Speaker 3: call up a rookie and you go, hey, we're not
- 32:52Speaker 3: gonna push it. We're not going to push him past five. Well,
- 32:55Speaker 3: that's their issue. They only they need dudes to start
- 32:58Speaker 3: and do well. Yes, but they need to do the
- 33:00Speaker 3: start and go past the fifth inning, go past their
- 33:03Speaker 3: ninety pitches. So if Mendy can figure out a way
- 33:06Speaker 3: to get these guys to throw six innings, God forbid
- 33:10Speaker 3: seven innings. This is this is huge. I mean there
- 33:14Speaker 3: they want to win. So if you've done well in
- 33:16Speaker 3: this organization, they're gonna bring me up.
- 33:20Speaker 2: The Mets are in. By the way, all you saying,
- 33:22Speaker 2: oh the Reds res mes in four up.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Four up, and the lost get them, I just said
- 33:26Speaker 1: they're no in the mix.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I mean not longer. They're one. Now they're four back
- 33:30Speaker 2: in the loss. They're done. Okay, sorry, I'm sorry, I'll
- 33:34Speaker 2: say no pretty much, pretty much. Both leagues just said.
- 33:38Speaker 1: We're gonna start doing porst mortem for teams.
- 33:39Speaker 2: So you want to old Rockies, Pirates, White Sox, twins,
- 33:45Speaker 2: a lot more than that, we can get going Cardinals.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Hey, let's get Carlos Mendez, a Mets manager, on Jonah
- 33:51Speaker 1: Tom Carlos.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Have you guys decided to go with Tom? Yes, that'll
- 33:56Speaker 2: be on Friday, on Friday? Yes? What what led you
- 34:00Speaker 2: guys to make that decision after such little time for
- 34:03Speaker 2: him in the in the miners.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Or yeah, I mean I think it's all about him
- 34:07Speaker 4: dominating the minor leagues. Uh, you know, you can make
- 34:10Speaker 4: a case, or he's double A, you want to give
- 34:12Speaker 4: him a better look at the triple A level. But man,
- 34:15Speaker 4: you know, a couple of outings and you know, I
- 34:18Speaker 4: think he's just he's hard to keep him there, you know.
- 34:22Speaker 4: So here he is now. You know we we knew
- 34:25Speaker 4: we were gonna need a six starter, and he put
- 34:28Speaker 4: himself in the conversation and.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Here he is.
- 34:30Speaker 4: Now, I'm gonna get an opportunity for us.
- 34:33Speaker 1: I am all about this. Don't waste bullets in the
- 34:35Speaker 1: minor leagues. And what's the worst that happens He comes
- 34:38Speaker 1: up and start Okay, you know what.
- 34:40Speaker 2: They should do. Make him a bulk reliever at the
- 34:42Speaker 2: end of the game, so you can come in and
- 34:44Speaker 2: pitch four in the pirates, the.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Fake I don't know.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Throw them out there and let's see what happens.
- 34:52Speaker 1: See what happens.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Why not you got a little cushion, You got four
- 34:55Speaker 2: game cushion in the standings to make the last wild card.
- 34:58Speaker 2: If he's been this good in the throw him out
- 35:00Speaker 2: there and see what happened.
- 35:01Speaker 1: They just did this ten days ago. It worked, and
- 35:04Speaker 1: it's worked. Even think about this for a team that
- 35:06Speaker 1: has had to pick up some dubs down the stretch here.
- 35:09Speaker 1: As much as you say the Reds are out like
- 35:10Speaker 1: stuff to pick up those wins, Nolan McLean comes in
- 35:13Speaker 1: helps them win games. John and Tong might do the
- 35:15Speaker 1: same thing. Some of the offseason moves this year for
- 35:17Speaker 1: the Mets for pitching didn't work out like they did
- 35:20Speaker 1: a year ago. They have pitching prospects. Yep, that's the
- 35:24Speaker 1: beauty of it.
- 35:25Speaker 3: You know.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Sometimes scratch, you'll say, with a big market team, Oh,
- 35:27Speaker 1: they spend their way out of the problems. Actually that
- 35:29Speaker 1: this time they kind of did the reverse. They made
- 35:32Speaker 1: mistakes on the spending side. But they've done a nice
- 35:35Speaker 1: job of getting a farm system together, which is something
- 35:37Speaker 1: they didn't have even four or five years ago. They
- 35:41Speaker 1: did not have this type of option. Even twenty twenty three,
- 35:43Speaker 1: our first year right where they had the massive team payroll,
- 35:47Speaker 1: and they missed and it was one of the most
- 35:48Speaker 1: disappointing years. They didn't have this in the can when
- 35:52Speaker 1: Berlander got hurt, right remember Berlander got hurt the beginning
- 35:55Speaker 1: year for them all that they didn't have this. Now
- 35:56Speaker 1: they have this that they can bring in at the
- 35:58Speaker 1: end of the season, and if these guys deal, they'll
- 36:01Speaker 1: be starting playoff games.
- 36:04Speaker 3: That is, that's a lot bill start playoff games in
- 36:08Speaker 3: this in the big city for this team as rookie.
- 36:11Speaker 3: You have two rookies starting playoff games. I don't know.
- 36:15Speaker 3: This is also something Mendy said it. He said, you know,
- 36:17Speaker 3: because we're going to six man rotation, you need more
- 36:20Speaker 3: pitching depth in an organization when you have to keep
- 36:23Speaker 3: guys on a six man rotation. Yes, that's an awesome,
- 36:27Speaker 3: awesome luxury to have that you have six man rotation,
- 36:30Speaker 3: all that stuff, but now you have to have more
- 36:32Speaker 3: guys to be able to fill in that depth. It'll
- 36:36Speaker 3: be interesting. Is this kid's fresh into his twenty second
- 36:39Speaker 3: year of life like he's twenty two. I don't think
- 36:42Speaker 3: you need more time and triple A to me the
- 36:44Speaker 3: numbers he put up in double A. He had a
- 36:47Speaker 3: one to five e r A and double A. Go
- 36:50Speaker 3: get it, you throw strikes. It's the same game, just
- 36:54Speaker 3: the lights are a little brighter.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Yep. I'm excited. It's gonna be a fun dayview on Friday.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Prospect This is cool, it's fun to watch.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Let's see, let'see what these kids got. I mean, so
- 37:05Speaker 2: scared to throw the prospects and see what they got. Man,
- 37:08Speaker 2: if you think they're special, then they'll be specially when
- 37:10Speaker 2: they get to the big leagues.
- 37:11Speaker 1: And worst case, he doesn't have a great start.
- 37:13Speaker 2: But if you go, okay, if you look at the
- 37:15Speaker 2: Mets rotation right now and they get they get to
- 37:17Speaker 2: the wild card round, Peterson's got to start game one?
- 37:20Speaker 2: Maybe probably, Yeah, you're not going to be at home.
- 37:27Speaker 2: They're going to be on the road. So do you
- 37:29Speaker 2: go Sanga on the road? You go Peterson? Because right
- 37:32Speaker 2: now the who would they play? The three the three seed?
- 37:35Speaker 2: Who is the could be a bet right now the Dodgers.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Do you go Senga on the road against I mean
- 37:43Speaker 2: in Dodger Stadium? Peterson?
- 37:45Speaker 1: Until you got game three? Said and also he's not
- 37:48Speaker 1: looking as good lately. I'm Peterston. Game one?
- 37:52Speaker 2: Then who.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Man? Game two?
- 37:55Speaker 2: Want to go left left? Okay, I don't know. It's
- 37:59Speaker 2: an interesting and you split those two, you split those
- 38:02Speaker 2: two up.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Yeah, so maybe it's.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Three games series. By the way, it's three games. I'm
- 38:06Speaker 2: going got three games.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Peterson, maybe one of the youngsters and.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Then man I at home or mini game three? All
- 38:13Speaker 2: three games will be on the road.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. We got to.
- 38:17Speaker 3: If it starts today. If it starts today, they're not
- 38:20Speaker 3: putting one of the youngsters in. To me, you're gonna
- 38:22Speaker 3: get to see five more starts if I have my
- 38:26Speaker 3: math right, because they have thirty games left, you see
- 38:29Speaker 3: five more starts of both of them. They could prove it.
- 38:32Speaker 3: But I have a tough I have a tough time
- 38:35Speaker 3: saying they're gonna throw one of those guys out there.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Maybe both, Maybe just go with both lefties. Aren't the Dodgers?
- 38:43Speaker 1: I mean, what are their show? I gotta look at
- 38:45Speaker 1: the splits show.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Hey, Mookie, will Smith, Freddy Monty Oscar left left. You
- 38:52Speaker 2: don't get to go home though all three games are
- 38:54Speaker 2: on the road, aren't they. Oh, three games are in
- 38:56Speaker 2: l A. You don't get to go home. So I
- 38:58Speaker 2: would think you would go Peterson saying Anaya slash kid,
- 39:03Speaker 2: you don't get to go home. You played three in
- 39:05Speaker 2: a row, and that's the advantage.
- 39:06Speaker 1: All right, We've got time, We've got time.
- 39:08Speaker 2: You know. It's just it's an interesting thought to start
- 39:10Speaker 2: thinking of your Carlos Mendoza.
- 39:11Speaker 1: That would be a banger wildcard series.
- 39:14Speaker 2: What about the other one? The jump?
- 39:16Speaker 1: The other one is going to be Padres, Cubs Cubs.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Another banger.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Nationally, it's like SEC right now, it's just different.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Although the Dodgers are only one game behind the Phillies.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Can you imagine if it's Mets Phillies Mets Wildcard round
- 39:31Speaker 2: and I was there for the Ds, it was crazy.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Can you imagine Phillies Mets Wildcard Round?
- 39:35Speaker 1: Phillies don't want that oh Man at home.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Padres would be at home.
- 39:39Speaker 3: They at least have a chance in city field. They
- 39:42Speaker 3: don't have a no chance a poppy.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Hey, this is a Philly guy saying Phillies have no
- 39:50Speaker 1: chance in Queens if they're playing all the games there.
- 39:54Speaker 1: You heard it here first.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Don't want to hear that.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Just read the numbers. Raid the numbers. I'm talking stack
- 40:00Speaker 3: cast oh and eight. In their last eight games, nine
- 40:05Speaker 3: of ten, nine of their last ten, they've lost in
- 40:07Speaker 3: city field twenty three of twenty nine. It's not good.
- 40:13Speaker 1: This is a good team for years. There's six and
- 40:15Speaker 1: twenty three at city field the last few years.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Pause Horse, everyone has it, twins have the Yankees. Phillies
- 40:21Speaker 2: have city field?
- 40:22Speaker 1: There you go, all right, if you're catching this afterward,
- 40:24Speaker 1: let us know your thoughts on these two teams and
- 40:26Speaker 1: what's gonna happen the rest of the way. Mets fans,
- 40:28Speaker 1: if you want to lay out your rotation for us
- 40:30Speaker 1: for the postseason as of right now, we'll take it. OKKP.
- 40:37Speaker 1: This is your first arena club experience. We're gonna open
- 40:39Speaker 1: a slab pack together. So first off, we're gonna buy
- 40:42Speaker 1: one of those twenty five dollars slab packs and we
- 40:44Speaker 1: get to see what is in the pack. There. It
- 40:47Speaker 1: is the Grail, which is the best card in the
- 40:49Speaker 1: pack and worth the most. There are some other cards
- 40:52Speaker 1: that we're chasing, and you can see the entire lineup
- 40:54Speaker 1: so that you know what you're in the running for.
- 40:56Speaker 1: There's the Yamamoto signed card. Now let's open up our
- 41:01Speaker 1: pack and see how we do. We have ourselves a
- 41:06Speaker 1: really cool graphic and then a show. Hey, O Tani,
- 41:11Speaker 1: fifty to fifty card from last year. What do you
- 41:14Speaker 1: want to do? Should we sell it right back to
- 41:15Speaker 1: them for sixteen or should we keep it?
- 41:18Speaker 3: You should give it to me, I'll.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Keep good answer, fine, I will give it to you.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Since the Blue Jays didn't GETO Tani, you can get
- 41:25Speaker 1: this fifty to fifty card instead. Use the code foul
- 41:28Speaker 1: foul to get yourself twenty percent off your first slab
- 41:31Speaker 1: pack or card purchase. Yes, you get to keep that
- 41:33Speaker 1: card if you want it, they send it to you.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Foul at Arena club dot com slash foul. Should we
- 41:40Speaker 1: be talking about Colson Montgomery more?
- 41:42Speaker 2: Who did I tell you to make your home run
- 41:44Speaker 2: pick yesterday?
- 41:44Speaker 1: He's got homer in four straight, fourteen homers in his
- 41:48Speaker 1: first forty three games in the big leagues. He's on
- 41:50Speaker 1: the White Sox, by the way, if you haven't been
- 41:51Speaker 1: paying attention, so he homered in every game against the Twins,
- 41:54Speaker 1: and Byron Buckson asked him for assigned card. He says,
- 41:56Speaker 1: sure if I get assigned bat in return, and there's
- 41:59Speaker 1: a pick. Sure, if you're watching right now, and if
- 42:02Speaker 1: you're listening, we'll explain it. Sign bat nice photo?
- 42:06Speaker 2: Cool? What big Leakers do?
- 42:08Speaker 1: What do you got on Montgomery? Is this a future star?
- 42:11Speaker 2: He hits homers?
- 42:13Speaker 1: That's good.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Yeah, he's rocking the one too in Chicago too, So
- 42:17Speaker 2: you got to be good if you wear that number.
- 42:18Speaker 1: All. I look at him, I'm like, WHOA, But.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Listen, these guys got a chance to be good at
- 42:22Speaker 2: first round pick. Been a big prospect kind of the
- 42:24Speaker 2: last couple of years has kind of fallen off a
- 42:26Speaker 2: little bit. They made some swing adjustments. He's doing better.
- 42:28Speaker 2: He's got pop. The biggest thing for him is he's
- 42:30Speaker 2: just got pop and he keeps hitting homers. Yeah, but yeah,
- 42:35Speaker 2: he's got a chance. The White Sox are much in
- 42:38Speaker 2: a much better place at this time last this year
- 42:39Speaker 2: than they were last year because they have hope and
- 42:42Speaker 2: they have energy, and they have guys that are actually
- 42:45Speaker 2: pretty good ball players instead of some of the guys
- 42:47Speaker 2: that are running out there that you're like, ah, why
- 42:48Speaker 2: not just bring up the young kids and let them roll.
- 42:50Speaker 2: And they've done that and they've provided a little bit
- 42:52Speaker 2: of spark and some energy, which is great.
- 42:54Speaker 1: It calls some Montgomery's rating really well defensively too. Kratz's
- 42:58Speaker 1: top top reading.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna talk about his hitting. It's crazy.
- 43:03Speaker 3: You rarely see a dude struggle in the minor leagues
- 43:07Speaker 3: and hit better in the big league. So hopefully the
- 43:10Speaker 3: big league is easier for him, because so far he's
- 43:12Speaker 3: making it look like it is. And he played in
- 43:14Speaker 3: Charlotte where dingers were super easy to hit or are
- 43:18Speaker 3: super easy to hit.
- 43:20Speaker 1: During the game in Saint Louis last night. Wow, welcome
- 43:22Speaker 1: back to the seventies. This is what he used to
- 43:23Speaker 1: look like. I was there pre whity Herzog buying shag
- 43:27Speaker 1: carpet asap, a major rebuilt and proster and trust better becoming.
- 43:31Speaker 1: One can only hope it's coming right when I swear
- 43:33Speaker 1: to AKA good luck, Hi am Bloom reading for you.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Seventeen thousand ish.
- 43:39Speaker 2: Walls crowd ever, Yeah, smallest crowd ever at the new
- 43:42Speaker 2: Bush Walls crowd ever.
- 43:45Speaker 3: They're regular sized people, but not a lot of them.
- 43:48Speaker 3: The crowd, the people in the crowd weren't small. How
- 43:50Speaker 3: many there was just to clarify.
- 43:52Speaker 1: It, yes, bad though.
- 43:55Speaker 2: But for Joe Buck, a guy who's Saint Louis born
- 43:58Speaker 2: and bred, like yeah this is this has got a
- 44:01Speaker 2: crush Joe Buck to have to send this tweet out
- 44:04Speaker 2: and have it come and fans get it. He goes
- 44:07Speaker 2: back to the small I just I'll say the smallest
- 44:10Speaker 2: crowd ever because.
- 44:11Speaker 1: They're new protesting is they don't like the product on
- 44:14Speaker 1: the field, right, Oh yeah, it's a very good and
- 44:15Speaker 1: the fans. He got a lot of fan replies like hey,
- 44:19Speaker 1: it's not us, and he's like, no, I'm with you.
- 44:20Speaker 1: He's like, you guys are awesome. You guys, I see
- 44:23Speaker 1: the messager sending to the franchise right now. It's not
- 44:26Speaker 1: good enough, but.
- 44:27Speaker 2: It's gonna take three or four years unless they spend money,
- 44:29Speaker 2: which the Dewett family has not been willing to do so.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Unless they spend money for heine Bloom, it's not gonna matter.
- 44:34Speaker 2: It's still going to take three to four years for
- 44:36Speaker 2: them to get back. Because listen, say what you want
- 44:38Speaker 2: about heine Bloom, but in Boston, hein Bloom did everything
- 44:40Speaker 2: that he was supposed to do. Trade the first thing
- 44:43Speaker 2: they told him, trade Mookie Betts. Okay, I gotta get
- 44:46Speaker 2: whatever I can get. Connor Wong is the one player
- 44:48Speaker 2: that came back in the deal. It's been decent for
- 44:50Speaker 2: the Red Sox, right yep. And then they're like, rebuild
- 44:53Speaker 2: the farm system. Guess who Roman, Anthony, Marcelo Meyer, all
- 44:55Speaker 2: those guys are drafted by hein Bloom. Heinm Bloom did
- 45:00Speaker 2: what he was told to do. Cut the payroll, get
- 45:02Speaker 2: the team, get prospects. We have prospects coming up, keep
- 45:04Speaker 2: the keep the organization sustainable. And guess what they did.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Sorry him, you're not good enough. See you what.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Cardinals fans might be really happy about that coming up,
- 45:15Speaker 1: because if they're not going they got to look forward
- 45:17Speaker 1: to spend with the big boys. Then you need to
- 45:19Speaker 1: be able to do more with your farm system. And
- 45:22Speaker 1: that's something that the Cardinals did really well for a
- 45:23Speaker 1: long time. And remember, Katie we were wrote a great
- 45:26Speaker 1: story about how they dumbed things down with their player
- 45:30Speaker 1: development and the time and the effort and the money
- 45:33Speaker 1: that they were putting into that.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Well what what they were what they were told is
- 45:36Speaker 2: that the development every year Mosaalic was given a certain
- 45:40Speaker 2: number and that number was for the whole organization. And
- 45:44Speaker 2: so then he had to try to build a big
- 45:45Speaker 2: league team without upping the payroll. But he also had
- 45:48Speaker 2: to try to So what they did is they cut
- 45:50Speaker 2: they cut back on the minor league people in order
- 45:52Speaker 2: to try to put more money into the big league team.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 45:55Speaker 2: So they I mean, I heard they don't have a
- 45:57Speaker 2: catching coordinatory don't have they don't have They have like
- 45:58Speaker 2: the fewest coaches in them of any team, which is crazy,
- 46:02Speaker 2: and they're working on fixing that.
- 46:10Speaker 1: We found an article that we're going to read to AJ.
- 46:12Speaker 1: It's from our Buddy, Jim Boden and the Athletic the
- 46:14Speaker 1: biggest concern for each MLB contending team down the stretch.
- 46:19Speaker 1: I will present options to you in the National League.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Then later we'll get to the American League, but we'll
- 46:23Speaker 1: start with the NL. You'll have your options on the board.
- 46:26Speaker 1: I'll read them out for everyone and you'll choose one. Okay,
- 46:29Speaker 1: are you ready to play? No, that's more of an
- 46:35Speaker 1: off season thing. It's cold and lonely in the winter,
- 46:37Speaker 1: but right now it's the summertime and we're going over
- 46:40Speaker 1: those contending teams. So let's throw it up there. I'm
- 46:42Speaker 1: going to read the National League for you and give
- 46:44Speaker 1: you your options. The Brewers, here's one concern, lack of
- 46:47Speaker 1: home run power. Phillies life after Wheeler, Dodgers, Bullpens cubbed
- 46:52Speaker 1: Kyle Tucker's summer slump, Padres, the rotation, Mets, the bridge
- 46:57Speaker 1: to Edwin Diaz, and the Reds haven't played in clean
- 47:03Speaker 1: pick one. That means something to you.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Uh, Phillies, I'm gonna go Phillies life without Zach Bieler.
- 47:09Speaker 2: I'm a stee cratz is thunder because I get to
- 47:11Speaker 2: go first.
- 47:12Speaker 4: Uh.
- 47:12Speaker 2: They still have Sanchez they still have Ranger Suarez, who's performed.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Nola's gonna come back and have a great last month,
- 47:18Speaker 2: be pumped for the playoffs. And I think they're bullpen
- 47:21Speaker 2: with Duran, They're gonna keep Romano out of it, and
- 47:23Speaker 2: they're gonna have the bullpen lined up nicely with Rob Thompson.
- 47:26Speaker 2: They're gonna slug their way. So I don't this. Yes,
- 47:29Speaker 2: is this a huge loss, Yes, but I think they
- 47:32Speaker 2: have enough depth in the rotation out they lose another guy,
- 47:35Speaker 2: I'm worried. But if they keep Sanchez Lozardo Suarez and Nola,
- 47:40Speaker 2: and if Taiwan Walker keeps going, which is a lot
- 47:42Speaker 2: of ifs, I know, But I like the Phillies and
- 47:44Speaker 2: I don't. I think this is a big deal, but
- 47:47Speaker 2: it's not the end of the season blow that people
- 47:48Speaker 2: think it might be.
- 47:51Speaker 3: That's fair. I like that, except it's just the same
- 47:55Speaker 3: question I said to Kevin Lallar. Would the Red Sox
- 47:58Speaker 3: be better with Raphael Devers in their line? Would the
- 48:00Speaker 3: Phillies be better with Zach Wheeler in their rotation? Absolutely?
- 48:05Speaker 3: But you can't do anything about it. Grat's your pick, Brewers,
- 48:14Speaker 3: What is the exact wording lack of home runs, lack
- 48:18Speaker 3: of home run power. I would kind of disagree with
- 48:21Speaker 3: that because they have Yelly with twenty six Cheerio be
- 48:27Speaker 3: healthy soon seventeen fifteen for William Contreres, who has hit
- 48:33Speaker 3: thirteen of those since I think June thirtieth, I think
- 48:38Speaker 3: that was the date. Then you have Bryce Terrang who
- 48:42Speaker 3: has hit, like we said earlier in the show, nine
- 48:44Speaker 3: of them in the last month, and Rhys Hoskins hasn't
- 48:50Speaker 3: been playing for the last two months. When he comes back,
- 48:53Speaker 3: it's gonna be another added boost to that lineup. And
- 48:56Speaker 3: all that to me, they don't have as much power
- 48:59Speaker 3: as say the Yankees, who have the most home runs,
- 49:02Speaker 3: but the Yankees don't have as many stone bases as
- 49:04Speaker 3: the Brewers do. The combination of both, they have enough power.
- 49:09Speaker 3: I would say they have enough power.
- 49:15Speaker 1: But is it enough? When I mentioned and I heard
- 49:17Speaker 1: you mentioned it the other day too, last five World
- 49:22Speaker 1: Series winners have finished in the top four in home runs.
- 49:27Speaker 3: It's enough. It's enough because the question is if that's
- 49:30Speaker 3: not gonna happen, then we should just eliminate the Blue Jays,
- 49:34Speaker 3: we should eliminate the Padres, and we should eliminate the Brewers.
- 49:43Speaker 3: I think it's enough. In my opinion, I think it's
- 49:46Speaker 3: enough for the Brewers. I think they're built enough to overcome.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Can they get over the whole? Can they get up?
- 49:54Speaker 2: The biggest question for the Bruis? Can they get over
- 49:56Speaker 2: the hull?
- 49:56Speaker 3: Hey?
- 49:56Speaker 2: How are we doing? Poe? Hey, we got a surprise, guest?
- 49:59Speaker 2: How we claim most commission about being the commissioner?
- 50:04Speaker 1: Just the commissioner.
- 50:05Speaker 2: Don't play and be the commissioner commission Keagan didn't pick himself.
- 50:10Speaker 1: It's exactly the right decision.
- 50:13Speaker 3: I'm shocked, exhausted.
- 50:17Speaker 1: You know, there used to be player coaches in baseball.
- 50:20Speaker 2: The Brewers. Can the Brewers get over the hump with
- 50:24Speaker 2: with power?
- 50:25Speaker 1: Because the last you work with Tom Berducci, the last
- 50:29Speaker 1: five winners are top four in homers.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Give him your mic, play speed, no strikeouts. They absolutely
- 50:37Speaker 2: can get over the hump because they make it a
- 50:39Speaker 2: nightmare on fishers. They do.
- 50:41Speaker 3: They make it a nightmare, and if they get the
- 50:42Speaker 3: right matchup, they can get over the hump.
- 50:46Speaker 2: I'm gonna burdy this last hole. Who's winning your group? Close?
- 50:51Speaker 2: It's the worst golf I played in a long time,
- 50:53Speaker 2: But I'm so happy you guys are here.
- 50:54Speaker 1: We are pumped to be here. But we're gonna have
- 50:57Speaker 1: a good conversation tomorrow about this whole commissioner while playing situation.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Hey, get your rest, Get your rest, Okay, get your rest.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Been as strong for a SMULTI that's the commissioner of
- 51:08Speaker 1: the pro live on ft John Smoltz. That's fine. Hey,
- 51:15Speaker 1: it's not his best round of golf. It's not his
- 51:17Speaker 1: best week of golf. He is definitely working hard here
- 51:20Speaker 1: to run the whole tournament, but he still has time
- 51:23Speaker 1: to stop by. Where's the ball for him?
- 51:26Speaker 2: I think it's a close one up there, the one
- 51:27Speaker 2: that's not marked on the green. It's about twelve to
- 51:31Speaker 2: fifteen ft It's hard to tell because it's a hill,
- 51:33Speaker 2: but twelve ish fifteen ish feet away short.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Does he get a burst of energy from a conversation
- 51:39Speaker 1: with us?
- 51:40Speaker 2: You know what I love about Smoltzy. He said, I'm
- 51:42Speaker 2: gonna burdy this last hole and get ready for tomorrow.
- 51:44Speaker 2: So he believes that he can make this putt.
- 51:47Speaker 1: And he probably needs it to stay in the mix.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Joe Pavelski's leading this thing. Sorry, we got distracted for
- 51:53Speaker 1: a moment, but.
- 51:53Speaker 2: It is already cool.
- 51:54Speaker 1: I mean We've got eighty very significant names out here.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Wait, you don't know what happened a win, wit chump
- 52:01Speaker 2: must have chunked his second shot.
- 52:03Speaker 1: There's a lot of baseball on the top ten, but
- 52:05Speaker 1: not all baseball. Joe Pavelski, Marty Fish.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Oh that is a good shot by wit. Look at him,
- 52:12Speaker 2: he's running. Oh no, that's not a good shot. Never mind,
- 52:17Speaker 2: never mind, just kidding. We'll try and get the multi
- 52:20Speaker 2: rolled way past, way past. Let's back.
- 52:23Speaker 1: I got more minutes.
- 52:26Speaker 3: I had a live drone were drum so I'm watching
- 52:29Speaker 3: the whole tournament.
- 52:31Speaker 2: What are we talking about?
- 52:33Speaker 3: We're talking about now?
- 52:37Speaker 1: Hmm and cue the American League.
- 52:40Speaker 2: We said it's smolt stay tomorrow, by the way, Rangers out.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Okay, but let me just read the lists, travel schedules.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Hold up there, there's people that listen to this on
- 52:51Speaker 1: the podcast. I want to lay out what we're working
- 52:53Speaker 1: with here. Biggest concern for each American League contending team,
- 52:56Speaker 1: Tigers not getting ahead of themselves despite their lead. Blue
- 52:59Speaker 1: Jays bullpen depth, Jeff hoffmany A right, by the way,
- 53:02Speaker 1: it's close to five, had another rough day yesterday, Astro
- 53:05Speaker 1: staying healthy. Red Sox backup the rotation, Yankees lack of
- 53:09Speaker 1: defensive stability, Mariners travel schedule, Hey, East Coast trip is
- 53:15Speaker 1: roight for them, Royals run production from the bottom of
- 53:18Speaker 1: the lineup, and the Rangers.
- 53:20Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 53:21Speaker 1: I'm not gonna read it.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't have to.
- 53:23Speaker 1: It's actually the first or one of the segments earlier
- 53:26Speaker 1: in our show.
- 53:27Speaker 2: True, I'm going Mariners travel schedule, What the heck we
- 53:32Speaker 2: talking about? When they fly private jets, everyone says they
- 53:34Speaker 2: also travel way more than everyone else. So that's been
- 53:37Speaker 2: always been a thing for the for the Mariners, is
- 53:39Speaker 2: the travel they have to travel. Their closest competition is Oakland.
- 53:42Speaker 2: Oh wait, they're not there anymore. So it's no Sacramento.
- 53:45Speaker 2: It's still a two and a half hour flight. It's
- 53:46Speaker 2: not like it's right up. People think, ah, Sacramento and
- 53:49Speaker 2: Seattle right next to each other. It's still a two
- 53:51Speaker 2: and a half hour flight. It's kind of like Boston
- 53:54Speaker 2: Boston thinking, Oh, Boston and New York are so close
- 53:56Speaker 2: to each other, it's still paint in the butt to
- 53:58Speaker 2: get there.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Who set up the Ironers crats with the East Coast swing?
- 54:02Speaker 1: They just did right, and I think they went too
- 54:06Speaker 1: and eight or something. Now they got another one coming
- 54:09Speaker 1: up this weekend eleven Day three City.
- 54:13Speaker 3: I saw them at the end of that ten game
- 54:16Speaker 3: road trip in Philly, and obviously I don't watch them
- 54:19Speaker 3: all year, so maybe I'm just making a face to
- 54:22Speaker 3: face judgment. But it was the second to last game
- 54:26Speaker 3: of that series in Philly, and it was a close game.
- 54:29Speaker 3: Watching the guys come off the field, they just looked exhausted.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Maybe I'm over maybe I'm over dramatizing it, but that's
- 54:38Speaker 3: what it looked like face value in the moment, and
- 54:41Speaker 3: I was like, man, why these guys so tired?
- 54:45Speaker 2: And I want to get your ass kicked. When you
- 54:46Speaker 2: get your ass kick, you don't have a lot of
- 54:48Speaker 2: energy and you look draggy.
- 54:49Speaker 1: It's an.
- 54:52Speaker 2: It doesn't matter, does matter? Doesn't matter when you're losing, losing, losing,
- 54:59Speaker 2: it's like hitting. Everyone's like, oh, this team has no energy.
- 55:02Speaker 2: Well they've also got three hits in four games, so yeah, no,
- 55:04Speaker 2: no one has energy when they're not hitting it scoring runs.
- 55:07Speaker 2: You lose, You had to go to the East coast,
- 55:08Speaker 2: you got a six hour flight back. Guess what you do.
- 55:11Speaker 2: You're like, we lost again.
- 55:14Speaker 1: That's what happened. So from April twelfth through the twentieth,
- 55:17Speaker 1: they lost two to three to Baltimore, two of three
- 55:19Speaker 1: to the Mets, and they were swept by the Phillies. Now,
- 55:25Speaker 1: starting this weekend, they hit the road. Three at Cleveland,
- 55:30Speaker 1: three at Tampa Bay Tampa, and three in Atlanta. Now
- 55:35Speaker 1: those are teams that are not eight years, so.
- 55:38Speaker 2: They should win those series.
- 55:39Speaker 1: None of those series are push off pushover series. Cleveland
- 55:43Speaker 1: can still pitch and play.
- 55:45Speaker 2: Tampa still got some parts, Atlanta still got some pieces.
- 55:50Speaker 2: It all depends on who you get starting pitching wise
- 55:52Speaker 2: for both those teams too.
- 55:53Speaker 1: Yeah, those can be spoiler teams. That's not fun. They
- 55:57Speaker 1: do have four Angels and three Rockies left in their schedule,
- 55:59Speaker 1: which is nice.
- 56:01Speaker 2: But it's good the end of the year.
- 56:04Speaker 1: Two mm hmm, damn it. I just clicked out. But
- 56:06Speaker 1: Astros are on their Dodgers are on there, so we'll see. Okay,
- 56:09Speaker 1: that's your pick.
- 56:11Speaker 3: My pick is the Red Sox. It's the back of
- 56:13Speaker 3: the rotation we're talking about for the playoffs. The back
- 56:17Speaker 3: of the rotation. Who cares? Who cares? If you can
- 56:21Speaker 3: find by the end of the season three good starters.
- 56:25Speaker 3: I'll keep saying that. I get it. You need a
- 56:27Speaker 3: fourth starter, and that's what it's gonna come down to.
- 56:30Speaker 3: But to me, Gilito's throwing well, Beyo's solidified himself as
- 56:37Speaker 3: the number two in that rotation, and Crochet I don't
- 56:41Speaker 3: really care who the fourth and fifth guys are, because
- 56:44Speaker 3: your fourth guy in Game four of the World Series
- 56:47Speaker 3: NLCS is gonna throw two or three innings, especially with
- 56:51Speaker 3: a bullpen that has Chapman at the end of it,
- 56:55Speaker 3: that has Whitlock, that has the third best era in baseball.
- 57:00Speaker 3: To me, I think that's the least biggest concern on
- 57:03Speaker 3: the American League list.
- 57:06Speaker 1: It does to make and give you a few innings.
- 57:09Speaker 2: A really good playoff Bueller might step up and give
- 57:11Speaker 2: them a big, big innings along the way.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Playoff Bueller is different. True, we have two minutes left,
- 57:16Speaker 1: so I actually want to point out the Blue Jays.
- 57:19Speaker 1: I mentioned the relief pitching.
- 57:21Speaker 2: You don't get to pick Scott.
- 57:22Speaker 1: I just want to point it out and see if
- 57:24Speaker 1: any of you will bite.
- 57:26Speaker 2: It's an issue. It's an issue.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Yeah, Hoffman has I think seven or eight blown saves.
- 57:31Speaker 2: Their starters are great, can they score enough and can
- 57:34Speaker 2: they get Yeah? I mean it is an issue we've
- 57:36Speaker 2: we've talked about it all year, the Blue Jays bullpen.
- 57:39Speaker 2: Can they solidify that bullpen somehow? Someway? And that's a
- 57:42Speaker 2: big that's a big thing. Still, it's not going away.
- 57:44Speaker 2: It's all like they didn't do a whole lot of
- 57:46Speaker 2: the trade deadline to solidify it.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but were they big enough?
- 57:49Speaker 2: I mean they went Bieber, They went and got Bieber.
- 57:51Speaker 2: Right now, do they bounce it lour or someone into
- 57:54Speaker 2: the bullpen to try to help out? Maybe?
- 57:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Louis Barland hasn't pitched well, but he
- 57:58Speaker 1: might turn it around right year up until the last
- 58:01Speaker 1: couple of weeks.
- 58:02Speaker 2: I'm telling you sometimes when people get traded to a
- 58:04Speaker 2: new team, it's just everything is new, and when you
- 58:07Speaker 2: get traded, you're like, I have to do so much
- 58:10Speaker 2: better because you don't just do the same, do the same.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Any others that we missed let us know. Obviously we
- 58:20Speaker 1: included all the contenders on here, but if there's something
- 58:23Speaker 1: we overlooked from a storyline perspective, drop your thoughts. Nicer
- 58:27Speaker 1: mean in the comments coming up next, not mean, no mean,
- 58:30Speaker 1: and last slappands you can be mean to means. We're
- 58:36Speaker 1: here having a good time.
- 58:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm drinking ginger ale one was water, Yeah, chairs.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Good for your stomach. Ginger all right, kratz hat, especially.
- 58:42Speaker 2: After that dinner Mark took us to last night.
- 58:44Speaker 3: Oh it wasn't I know. It wasn't seafood, Mark.
- 58:51Speaker 2: It was seafood. It was seafood exactly. Mark got a burger.
- 58:57Speaker 3: You thought my you thought my hat was a giant.
- 59:00Speaker 3: It's you're way off. It's the Astros, the leading al
- 59:04Speaker 3: team in the West. Get it right. It's an easy
- 59:07Speaker 3: thing to say, just like Kershaw pitches, well, the Astros
- 59:11Speaker 3: win the West.
- 59:13Speaker 2: There you go, there you have it.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Hey, I wanted to give a shout out to Lucas Giulito.
- 59:17Speaker 1: There's a story inside the story here. So he was like, yeah,
- 59:21Speaker 1: I was going for the note hitter, hell yeah, and
- 59:23Speaker 1: eventually gave up four. But when eight innings he's been
- 59:26Speaker 1: dominant for the Red Sox lately, shut down the Orioles.
- 59:30Speaker 1: But there's a story inside the story. But as he
- 59:34Speaker 1: gets to one hundred and forty innings, he's a free agent.
- 59:36Speaker 1: If he doesn't, I mean yeah, no, he needs twenty
- 59:40Speaker 1: and two thirds with one month to go and probably
- 59:43Speaker 1: five starts.
- 59:44Speaker 2: He gets her, Well, what if he has one bad one,
- 59:47Speaker 2: doesn't matter.
- 59:47Speaker 1: He's getting removed in the second innings.
- 59:49Speaker 2: Then he goes eight. The next time, he'll tell bro
- 59:52Speaker 2: I'll throw three hundred pitches. Just leave me out there.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Gets weird. If you got heat, good way to prep
- 59:59Speaker 1: for the playoffs, krats.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: Good way to prep for the playoffs. Pushing your innings
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: limit coming off of Tommy John your first season, so
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: that you're ready for the playoffs. Let's put it this way.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: I'm not trying to write a storyline. Well, Lucas Giolito
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: is needed for the playoffs. If he doesn't do well
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: and they find out he pushed his innings innings a
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: little bit, not gonna be too happy in being town
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: just saying Jeremy Meyer.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Yeah, but if he if he's five starts, let's say
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: it's five, which it should be at least five.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Yeah, fine, that's four innings to start. Basically, I don't
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: know if I'm assuming. I'm assuming Alex kra is one
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: of the managers too, because I played for managers that
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: didn't care about incentives, and then I played for managers
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: that totally were all about like can I get my
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: guys to get the incentives, and those are the guys
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: you want to play for.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: No fan, he should get them.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Yeah. By the way, Happy birthday Jim Tomy, Jim Tomey's
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: birth day to day. Yeah, Jim Tomy Happy birthday. Old
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: he's old though it's old Oran, you little, he's older
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: than me. Six hundred homers.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Happy birthday, Jam one of the nicest dudes. Did you
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: know that the Dodgers lost Alex Bessia obleak strain?
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: No, I did not know that that guy was pitching
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: last night. That's what happens when you pitched one hundred
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: and thirty five games out of one hundred and thirty two.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: He's a workhorse.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: Oh, Tomy's fifty five, of course, I was told plus tax,
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: plus tax.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Fifty. Yes.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: Vessio was one of the guys that I think was
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: hurt by the fact that they've kind of been holding
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: other guys back. Not saying that he wouldn't want to pitch,
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: but if you're not even at the end of August
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: yet and you have sixty appearances, that is a lot
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: of appearances, and he was. He was one of their
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: guys out of the pen. I think he even had
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: like four or five saves at this point in the season,
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: like he was getting meaningful innings because Trinan's been out,
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: because Tanner Scott's been out, because Kope's been out. So
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: this this sucks. This is why they have such depth
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: to try to keep guys healthy. It's a big loss
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: right now, but he could probably five weeks of the playoffs.
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: I'm thinking two to four weeks hopefully, and he can
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: be back.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: I hope.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: So.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: I like him.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: He's he brings, he's really fun.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: He can be really good, but he can also be
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: really bad, and when he's really bad, he kind of
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: melts down, which is also fun to watch.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: He is I don't.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Yes, awesome, He's cool, all right.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Greg Maddox on the show tomorrow. John Smoltz on the
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: show tomorrow. Maybe Phil Nevin Dev's in the pro in
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Alabama with Cody Ross as well. Maybe we'll see you.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Then, Tody. You can swing big on your next MLB parlay.
