- 0:35makeup artist found her career with a leading cosmetic brand
- 0:38abruptly ended due to an AI recruitment tools interpretation
- 0:42of her body language during a video interview.
- 0:45This incident sheds light on the growing reliance on artificial
- 0:49intelligence in the recruitment process, particularly in the
- 0:52United Kingdom, which is now recognized as a front runner in
- 0:55integrating AI with human resources.
- 0:59The makeup artist Anthea Mordois experienced his unexpected turn
- 1:04in her career trajectory following a compulsory RE
- 1:07evaluation of her position at Mac Cosmetics during a furlough
- 1:10period and despite her commendable performance in the
- 1:14video interview, the AI system developed by High Review, a
- 1:17recruitment firm based in the United States, scored her low on
- 1:21nonverbal communication, leading to her dismissal.
- 1:25Now this case comes at a time when the United Kingdom is
- 1:28reported to be the second largest adopter of AI in the
- 1:31field of recruitment and human resources, following closely
- 1:34behind India and on par with United Arab Emirates.
- 1:38A study conducted by IBM in November of this year
- 1:41encompassed 20 countries found that 41% of the companies are
- 1:46now leveraging AI to streamline the recruiting and HR functions.
- 1:52Now this controversy surrounding this dismissal highlights the
- 1:56ethical and practical concerns associated with AI in employment
- 2:00decisions. High Review's decision to
- 2:02discontinue its facial analysis feature in 2020 was a response
- 2:07to the growing unease amongst workers about the implications
- 2:11of such technology on their careers and their personal
- 2:14well-being now. This ordeal had significant

- 2:22feeling unjustly outed from a career she passionately pursued,

- 2:54expressions and gestures and video interviews, AI is

- 3:02applications through platforms like LinkedIn, indicating a
- 3:05shift towards more digitalized employment processes.
- 3:09However, the effectiveness and fairness of AI is selecting the
- 3:13most qualified candidate remains subject of debate.
- 3:17Critics argue that despite the cost saving advantages for
- 3:19companies, there's scant evidence to suggest that AI
- 3:22consistently identifies the best suited candidates for positions.
- 3:26And the growing use of AI in HR has raised alarms about the
- 3:30transparency in such practices and the need for regulatory
- 3:33oversight to protect workers rights.
- 3:35The concern is that employees and job seekers are often
- 3:38unaware of the extent to which AI influences their employment
- 3:42prospects and workplace evaluations.
- 3:46Now, legal experts and labor unions in the UK are advocating
- 3:50for stringent regulations to govern the use of AI and
- 3:53employment decisions. The goal is to ensure that these
- 3:56technologies are applied ethically and that there are

- 4:55Now I'm not sure how I feel about this.
- 4:58I think there are some parts of AI that are great.
- 5:04It helps us go through the HR process when scanning resumes
- 5:08very easily. Candidates that aren't going to
- 5:11work out get weeded out very quickly.
- 5:14Candidates that wanna rise to the top, they can do that
- 5:17relatively easily if we use AI technology to scan the resumes.
- 5:22But the body language thing, that's what's getting me here.
- 5:27Because some people, they just don't have the same body
- 5:31language as other people. They don't know how to express
- 5:33themselves and they never have. And it's OK if they get the work
- 5:36done in my opinion, but they're a great worker.
- 5:39They they know their industry and they can produce really
- 5:44great products. There's no reason for them not
- 5:46to get hired or for them to be fired.
- 5:48Sometimes communication is something that people have to
- 5:51work on and that's OK. So for right now, this is still
- 5:57up in the air. Estee Lauder and Hire View have
- 6:00both defended themselves and it looks like they're going to
- 6:03continue to use products like this in their hiring process.

- 12:09Training Range operated by the Department of Defense, and it

- 12:23own solar system some 4.5 billion years ago.

- 29:45here with us now. This mission, along with others

- 32:13upcoming catch of the Starship booster at Starbase, Texas.
- 32:18Now one of them is the current launch tower that they're using
- 32:22for IFT 1, IFT 2 and IFT 3. Now after this IFT 4, IFT 5,
- 32:29probably IFT 6, they're going to continue to build Tower Two at
- 32:33the launch site in the foreseeable future.
- 32:37So what does that mean? That means that one the launch
- 32:40area that they're using currently will be the launch and
- 32:44the catch tower, or #2. They're building the second
- 32:49tower as primarily a catch tower, as sort of a Pathfinder
- 32:54as a test, a beta and alpha if you will.
- 32:57So they can learn how to catch before they destroy any sort of
- 33:02systems if they do it on the current tower.
- 33:05So they have a lot to lose if they do it on the current tower.
- 33:08If something goes wrong, shrapnel goes everywhere.
- 33:13The systems, the ground systems could get damaged and it could
- 33:16take them months to fix them, which would push them way behind
- 33:19schedule for the IFT 4, IFT 5 launch and then push them back
- 33:24even further for the Artemis 3, even though that's been pushed
- 33:26back already. So what I believe is going to
- 33:29happen is they're going to continue building Tower Two at,
- 33:33I was going to say Boca Chica. It's not really Boca Chica
- 33:35anymore. They switched it to just
- 33:36Starbase. Now to Starbase.
- 33:38They're going to keep building Tower Two at Starbase.
- 33:41We're going to see something very similar to what they have
- 33:44now. But I think what's going to
- 33:46happen is that tower two is going to be a catch tower and
- 33:51they're going to integrate some systems there so they can catch
- 33:54the booster, but then also lower it and then maybe use a crane to
- 33:58put it on a transport. And then, you know, move it to
- 34:02where they have to refurbish it, fix it up, clean it up and get
- 34:05it ready for the next flight. Now there is option two, though.
- 34:08So everything that they've learned from the first tower,
- 34:11they're putting into the tower at Kennedy Space Center as well,
- 34:15because they're building one over at Kennedy Space Center at
- 34:17NASA. And whatever they learned from
- 34:19the first tower, they're making it better.
- 34:21They're making improvements to the Kennedy Space Center tower.
- 34:24And anything they learned at Kennedy Space Center, they're
- 34:26probably going to build a better tower at the STAR Base facility,
- 34:31the launch facility. So if that were the case and
- 34:34they divert all the plumbing from what they have now, Tower
- 34:38One to Tower Two, and then they use Tower One to catch the
- 34:42booster from now on, that's not out of the realm of possibility,
- 34:46but it's going to be a long time before they get Tower Two built.
- 34:49It might actually be about a year or so.
- 34:51It's taking them a while to get Kennedy Space Center Tower even
- 34:55sort of functional. So it could be about a year for
- 34:58Tower Two at Starbase. So expect maybe 2025 for the
- 35:05first catch attempt at Starbase, maybe first quarter, second
- 35:11quarter, may early second quarter 2025.
- 35:13But it's going to take them a lot of work to get that done and
- 35:16their primary goal right now isn't to get a new tower up like
- 35:20they're not going to get a ton of people down there at Starbase
- 35:23to build the second tower. What they're doing is they're
- 35:26working on I FT3, IFT 4, IFT 5. They have to hit these
- 35:29benchmarks in order to get to the Artemis program.
- 35:32Artemis 3, they don't even have to land the booster for Artemis
- 35:353. You know, that's not part of the
- 35:36contract. All they have to do is get a
- 35:40ship up into orbit and then refuel the ship and then get
- 35:43that ship to the moon. So if they can do that and they
- 35:46can expend some boosters along the way, they might just wait
- 35:51for a while to try to catch boosters.
- 35:54Because I guess that's option three at this point.
- 35:57Because if they if they don't catch any boosters, that's OK
- 36:00too. They're not wasting a lot of
- 36:02money. They know that in the future
- 36:04they're going to make all this money back that they use on
- 36:06expendable boosters, sort of like what they did with Falcon
- 36:09One and Falcon Nine in the beginning.
- 36:11They didn't land a Falcon 9 for a while, so it took them, took
- 36:15the many flights for Falcon 9 before they actually landed 1
- 36:18precisely. And even then they had mishaps
- 36:22here and there where the booster would land, the Falcon 9 booster
- 36:25would land and then tip over or would land and bounce.
- 36:28And you know, we've all seen the videos like how not to land a a
- 36:31rocket booster or whatever it was, and they explode.
- 36:36So that could also happen at Starbase.
- 36:38And that's not good because the Super heavy is built with
- 36:43stainless steel. Stainless steel explodes.
- 36:46It becomes shrapnel, Shrapnel like throwing knives everywhere.
- 36:51I mean, they'll be ridiculous. The ground systems would get
- 36:55exploded everywhere. So I think they're going to play
- 36:58it safe. They're going to land a bunch of
- 37:00these in the Gulf of Mexico. Get very precise with this.
- 37:04Very, very precise. Make sure it works absolutely
- 37:07perfect every time. Make sure they can guide it
- 37:09perfectly. I think what they're going to do
- 37:12is they're going to do three or four precision landings in the
- 37:16Gulf of Mexico, and then after that maybe think about landing
- 37:20them on a tower. They have to make sure this
- 37:22works perfectly though. They might even do a hover test.
- 37:25I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
- 37:26It seems ridiculous if they would do a hover test.
- 37:29I don't think they would though. I don't think they would do a
- 37:31hover test. I think they're going to do full
- 37:33testing and then they're going to bring it back.
- 37:35They're going to do a kickback, they're going to do the flip and
- 37:37then they're going to bring it back.
- 37:39So I think that's what's going to happen 2025, early 2025,
- 37:43maybe quarter 2/20/25. We're going to see the steps put
- 37:46in place where maybe we're going to see a catch of a booster.
- 37:50And another option could be that SpaceX builds a whole new
- 37:55infrastructure for test catch tower, whatever it is, #2 could
- 38:02they do all the infrastructure and they root it through one or
- 38:05two, or do they do it to both? I think they might do it for
- 38:09both. I think it looks like the
- 38:11systems are in place for both. But could they do a substantial
- 38:14amount for the tower two and just use what they have now for
- 38:18tower one that's up in the air 2?
- 38:21Because they always change down there and everything always
- 38:23changes at Starbase. So like, we don't really know
- 38:26what's going on down there until SpaceX does something.
- 38:29It's all kind of speculation until SpaceX starts moving the
- 38:32pieces and the parts around. And then we see what's actually
- 38:35happening at Starbase. Jack Sweeney, a University of
- 38:40Central Florida student who's made headlines by tracking the
- 38:43private jet movements of celebrities Elon Musk and also
- 38:47Taylor Swift. And he uses publicly available
- 38:50flight data. Now with this practice has led
- 38:52to a legal confrontation with Swift's attorneys sending
- 38:55Sweeney A cease and desist letter alleging that his social
- 38:59media posts about her jet movements caused her direct and
- 39:02irreparable harm, as well as emotional and physical distress.

- 50:06projects in Arizona and the upcoming factory in Germany is

- 50:13effectively and strengthening the resilience of the
- 50:16semiconductor supply chain. The announcement of TSM, CS
- 50:19Second Vavage Japan has been met with a lot of optimism too, as
- 50:23evidenced by the positive performance of its stock, which
- 50:25has outperformed broader market indices.
- 50:28So this is showing that there's investor confidence in TSMC
- 50:32strategic investments and its ability to capitalize on the
- 50:35growing demand for semiconductors driven by
- 50:37advancements in technologies like artificial intelligence and
- 50:41AI. Now the company's decision to
- 50:43expand in Japan is a strategic move that aligns with global
- 50:46trends and the need for diversification of manufacturing
- 50:50hubs. Now this plant in Japan is a
- 50:53response to demand from customers as well for more
- 50:57semiconductor production capabilities and capacity.
- 51:00It's part of TSMC strategic plan to enhance its manufacturing
- 51:04capabilities globally worldwide and ensure it can meet the
- 51:07growing needs of industries reliant semiconductor technology
- 51:12like EVs and also AI. Now the decision to establish
- 51:17the second fab in Japan strengthens TSMC and they're
- 51:22supporting the technological advancements and supply chain
- 51:25requirements of their global clientele.
- 51:28The construction of the second TSMC plant in Japan set to begin
- 51:31by the end of 2024 too with operational capabilities
- 51:35targeted by the end of 2027. This timeline reflects TSM CS
- 51:39urgency in responding to market demands and its commitment to
- 51:43supporting Japan superconductor industry resurgence.
- 51:47And the collaboration with JASIM and the backing of major
- 51:50Japanese companies like Toyota and also Sony shows that there's
- 51:55a strategic importance of this venture to all parties involved.
- 51:59And it is also going to bring on 3400 skilled jobs through TSM CS
- 52:04expansion. And this employment boost is
- 52:07particularly timely as TSMC faces project delays in other
- 52:10regions such as Arizona. Now this Arizona project,
- 52:13initially set for an earlier start, has experienced delays
- 52:16pushing the operational timeline to 2027 or 2028.
