- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good next to you.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Well, good morning. Welcome
- 0:13Speaker 1: to a beautiful Wednesday. More treats coming your way before
- 0:17Speaker 1: you get to school. We want you to have your
- 0:19Speaker 1: cloud nine concert tickets. And how about some Michael tickets
- 0:23Speaker 1: from 987 movie night. Stay with us here on the show.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Don't go anywhere. Singapore's number one hit music station. Good
- 0:29Speaker 1: Morning Sunshine.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Well, um, with the lead up to Coachella Wee two
- 0:34Speaker 1: coming up very soon, I'm not sure if you've seen
- 0:37Speaker 1: all the videos that's been coming up. Can I just
- 0:40Speaker 1: address one in just a while? Let's go. In fact,
- 0:43Speaker 1: I think more than one influencer has done this. OK.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And wait, wait, wait, before you, you face palm, OK,
- 0:49Speaker 1: can you guess what you think it's about? Just take
- 0:52Speaker 1: a guess. Coachella, Coachella, Coachella expose.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Not exactly. Not exactly, but it's got to do with
- 1:00Speaker 1: people trying to hustle for free tickets into VIP. But
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'll tell you what the ploy was, OK, and I
- 1:08Speaker 1: think more than one influencer has been busted for doing
- 1:11Speaker 1: this already. OK, let's do it. More details in just
- 1:13Speaker 1: a bit. OK, so, um, sorry, I went to get
- 1:16Speaker 1: my coffee.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Um, time for a little bit of tea when it
- 1:19Speaker 1: comes down to Coachella. I mean, it's becoming a bit
- 1:23Speaker 1: of a festival where they make you aspire to go there, right?
- 1:28Speaker 1: They make it seem as if they are the pinnacle
- 1:31Speaker 1: of festivals around the world. I mean, OK.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I think the intention was right from the start. You know,
- 1:37Speaker 1: if you read up the history of Coachella, how it
- 1:39Speaker 1: began and all that, as with every music festival, it
- 1:42Speaker 1: begins with a passion for music. Can I be honest
- 1:44Speaker 1: with you? Social media ruined everything. No, exactly, exactly. So
- 1:48Speaker 1: what happened was, um, for this year's Coachella, there were
- 1:52Speaker 1: a couple of um influencers, not, not from Singapore, I
- 1:56Speaker 1: think mostly like in the US, OK. Um, they came
- 1:59Speaker 1: out to do like a video and it's one of
- 2:01Speaker 1: those like POV kind of videos.
- 2:03Speaker 1: And I watched one of those videos firsthand, and she
- 2:07Speaker 1: starts by like having a very like panicky face, you know,
- 2:10Speaker 1: she's like, oh my gosh, guys, you know, I'm, I'm
- 2:12Speaker 1: packing for my flight right now.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Um, and I'm going to Coachella, but the brand that
- 2:18Speaker 1: was supposed to pay for my entire trip there ghosted me. Yeah, so, um,
- 2:25Speaker 1: you know, we're now appealing to any brands whatsoever who
- 2:29Speaker 1: are already having activations there to, um, to maybe host
- 2:33Speaker 1: us or, you know, work with us. Uh, please, like
- 2:36Speaker 1: we've already, you know, done this and that and we've
- 2:38Speaker 1: already prepared everything. Legit or not. Exactly. So when more
- 2:43Speaker 1: than one influencer.
- 2:44Speaker 1: started doing this, um, I think brands actually started looking
- 2:47Speaker 1: into their list, right? And all across the board, because then,
- 2:52Speaker 1: how many brands are actually officially working with Coachella, right?
- 2:55Speaker 1: I mean, could be many, but, um, most of them
- 2:59Speaker 1: actually came out to say like, we don't have record
- 3:01Speaker 1: of engaging any of these influencers. So I think brands
- 3:04Speaker 1: decided to like come up and defend themselves also because
- 3:07Speaker 1: this is actually a really bold claim, saying that like
- 3:10Speaker 1: a brand engaged you then dropped you or ghosted you.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I mean,
- 3:14Speaker 1: So people are starting to call these influencers out saying, guys,
- 3:17Speaker 1: I don't think this is even legit. Don't try to
- 3:19Speaker 1: fool us. You know trying to scam out, you know,
- 3:22Speaker 1: like hustle for a free stay. Very good on the
- 3:25Speaker 1: brands for doing this. I feel that they should name
- 3:27Speaker 1: and shame these influencers from overseas. I really hope no
- 3:30Speaker 1: Singaporeans did this.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Even though I know that we do have people, I
- 3:34Speaker 1: think Jade Rassi is at Coachella. Yes, she's there. Shout
- 3:37Speaker 1: out Ian Gan as well. Oh, he's there too. Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 1: he's there, but I believe on his own expense. OK, OK. Look, honestly, yeah,
- 3:45Speaker 1: it's aspirational to be working with a brand that will
- 3:47Speaker 1: fly you to certain places, right? But if you truly
- 3:51Speaker 1: love an act or music, I encourage you just try
- 3:54Speaker 1: and save up and go and attend it because from experience,
- 3:57Speaker 1: as Joakim and I can tell you, it will be
- 3:59Speaker 1: a very different experience when you are.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Representing a brand, you got to worry about a lot
- 4:03Speaker 1: more and deliver a lot more. At this point I
- 4:06Speaker 1: don't ask for much. Let me just successfully.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Joe, it has not happened for me in my whole lifetime. OK,
- 4:15Speaker 1: so I'm not sure. This time around, we do have
- 4:17Speaker 1: tickets for you to catch Media Corp's Cloud nine as
- 4:20Speaker 1: you just heard. We got not 1, not 2, but
- 4:23Speaker 1: 4 tickets for you. It's happening May 9th, but Sonia,
- 4:27Speaker 1: I have a question.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Before we do the whole cloud nine ticket giveaway, do
- 4:31Speaker 1: you believe in the phrase strength in numbers? Sometimes, yes,
- 4:36Speaker 1: sometimes I do. I think it's applicable. For example, if
- 4:38Speaker 1: you see a big threat, one Sonia Chew might not
- 4:42Speaker 1: be enough to eliminate this big threat, right? I mean,
- 4:45Speaker 1: depends on what threat. Have you heard me scream?
- 4:47Speaker 1: Oh, have you heard my voice? It's very loud. Yes,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I have. OK, so using that theory, I want to
- 4:53Speaker 1: take you over to Sungai Bulo. Oh, OK. What's happening now?
- 4:57Speaker 1: Another crocodile sighting reserve here in Singapore. You are absolutely right.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Oh really? Crocodile sighting, but I think the crocodile, even
- 5:05Speaker 1: though it's just chilling over there, yeah, guess who was
- 5:09Speaker 1: not happy.
- 5:11Speaker 1: The monkeys. No, no, wait, wait, wait, give me, give
- 5:15Speaker 1: me a clue.
- 5:17Speaker 1: The otters. Yes, the otters were not happy. The crocodile
- 5:21Speaker 1: was there. What do they want to do? Honestly, it's
- 5:25Speaker 1: like one otter fighting a crocodile. The otter might lose,
- 5:28Speaker 1: but there was a gang of otters. They believe in
- 5:31Speaker 1: strength and numbers, and they chased away the crocodile. Oh
- 5:36Speaker 1: my God, it actually was successful. It's like watching 7
- 5:39Speaker 1: Sonia Chews chase away one Joakim Gomez, but actually 1
- 5:43Speaker 1: Sonia Chew is enough to chase away 1 Joakim Gomez
- 5:46Speaker 1: as well.
- 5:47Speaker 1: OK, um, I just have a question. How big was
- 5:50Speaker 1: this crocodile and is it always around? I, I'm trying
- 5:53Speaker 1: to figure out whether is it the same crocodile that
- 5:55Speaker 1: doesn't have a tail. No, it's a different one. It
- 5:58Speaker 1: looks massive, you know, and it's a crocodile. You, you
- 6:01Speaker 1: would think the predator will definitely prey on the otters. No,
- 6:04Speaker 1: but you know, otters can be really fierce. They can have,
- 6:07Speaker 1: they're small, but they got a lot of attitude. It
- 6:09Speaker 1: sounds like me. From the looks of it, yes. Also, um,
- 6:13Speaker 1: just in case you were wondering.
- 6:15Speaker 1: A group of otters is most commonly known as a raft,
- 6:19Speaker 1: a raft of otters when they're in the water. Yeah,
- 6:22Speaker 1: because they hold hands when they float. It's so cute.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Apparently it's called a romp of otters on land.
- 6:30Speaker 1: But people also call it like a bevy of otters
- 6:32Speaker 1: or a family of otters. Just, just fun facts for
- 6:35Speaker 1: you this morning. And the way they're populating here in Singapore,
- 6:38Speaker 1: a romp is correct. We got a very special treat
- 6:43Speaker 1: 3 times this week for you. Uh-huh. So if you
- 6:45Speaker 1: call in today, you automatically walk away with 4 tickets
- 6:50Speaker 1: to Media Corps cloud nine happening 9th of May 8 different.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Snacks for you to enjoy. And if you do want
- 6:57Speaker 1: to purchase tickets, it's going for just $28 over at Ticketmaster.com.sg. Yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 1: but you know what, um, we want to treat you
- 7:04Speaker 1: and your friends, of course, because if you think about it, OK,
- 7:07Speaker 1: one ticket is $28 but if you want to go
- 7:09Speaker 1: as a big group, right, that's, that's gonna cost quite
- 7:12Speaker 1: a little bit more. Um, yeah, so we wanna get
- 7:15Speaker 1: you covered with that. 4 tickets just for you to
- 7:18Speaker 1: catch the likes of 50/50.
- 7:21Speaker 1: And also so many incredible regional and local acts that
- 7:24Speaker 1: will be joining us too. We've got we've got uh
- 7:27Speaker 1: Max coming up. M, Kiara, Lucas, Ozzie, K Click. Think
- 7:33Speaker 1: about this, you are 28 divided by 8. It's 350
- 7:37Speaker 1: for an act. Yeah, and we're covering most of the
- 7:41Speaker 1: cost for you. I mean barring 50/50 and maybe.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Ozzie, who's really big in the Asia continent. The rest
- 7:47Speaker 1: of these artists, think about this. You could be their
- 7:50Speaker 1: day one fans. They just need that one extra push
- 7:53Speaker 1: to become worldwide celebrities. I think is kind of there,
- 7:57Speaker 1: you know, yeah, definitely. So we would love for you
- 7:59Speaker 1: to catch it. 669-11987. Call us right now. Tell us
- 8:04Speaker 1: what school you're from.
- 8:06Speaker 1: You know, maybe even if you just graduated not too
- 8:08Speaker 1: long ago, or you just want to give your alma
- 8:10Speaker 1: mater a shout out, why not, you know, tell us,
- 8:12Speaker 1: let us know what's so great about your school as well,
- 8:15Speaker 1: and we can even slip in a song dedication for you.
- 8:18Speaker 1: So I believe we had Tanjong Katong Girls Primary. Was
- 8:21Speaker 1: it yesterday? Yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Sorry, I'm losing track of time. Tanjong Katong Primary I'm
- 8:25Speaker 1: not wrong. OK, OK. Hi, good morning. I'm Stella. Hello, Stella.
- 8:29Speaker 1: What are you doing? What are you up to? Um,
- 8:31Speaker 1: I'm actually done dropping off my children. Oh, dude, you
- 8:36Speaker 1: sound so young. I literally thought you're a poly student.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 8:41Speaker 1: What a nice thing to hear in the morning. Yeah,
- 8:44Speaker 1: fantastic show. I come from Jokim Aya. Which school were
- 8:46Speaker 1: they headed to in the morning then, Stella? Um, they're
- 8:48Speaker 1: primary school children, so one of them is in Rainmas
- 8:51Speaker 1: Primary and the other one is in CHIJ Kellogg. Oh, OK. So, um,
- 8:56Speaker 1: just a quick question. If you do walk away with
- 8:58Speaker 1: these tickets to Catch me to C Cloud nine, who
- 9:01Speaker 1: are you gonna bring with you? Is it gonna be
- 9:02Speaker 1: like a family thing? Yes, definitely. Alright. So you know
- 9:06Speaker 1: what then, Stella, let's just give you these 4 tickets
- 9:09Speaker 1: to cloud nine happening 9.
- 9:14Speaker 1: You made my day. Thank you. Yeah, you're most welcome. I,
- 9:17Speaker 1: I just want to give a shout out to my
- 9:19Speaker 1: ex-students in Clementi To Secondary as well. Hi everyone. Miss Liu,
- 9:24Speaker 1: which subject did you teach? Uh, I teach English. Oh well,
- 9:28Speaker 1: as you can hear, I'm as you can hear.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Joakim's worried for his own English. You know what, I
- 9:34Speaker 1: just googled this. I realized C H I J Kellogg
- 9:36Speaker 1: is walking distance to Radima's Primary, 11 minute walk away.
- 9:40Speaker 1: That's right. Coming up after 7, aside from the fact
- 9:45Speaker 1: that yes, we've got $8000 for you, um.
- 9:49Speaker 1: There's an incident that happened not here in Singapore, but
- 9:52Speaker 1: somewhere across the causeway that got me thinking as well, wow,
- 9:56Speaker 1: food prices are really going up. OK, we have that.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Can I ask you a question, Sonia? OK. Where do
- 10:03Speaker 1: you not want to see a video screen? A video screen.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Where do I not want to see you. OK, OK. In,
- 10:17Speaker 1: in a library. I don't remember the last time I
- 10:19Speaker 1: went to a library.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I never really thought about that. What a weird question.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Putting screens in cars, right? Oh no, really? Wait, but
- 10:34Speaker 1: this has existed for a while. It's just that I
- 10:37Speaker 1: never thought anyone really does that. It's slowly growing here
- 10:39Speaker 1: in Singapore.
- 10:41Speaker 1: So, um, well, speaking of home, at home right now
- 10:43Speaker 1: in Singapore, you would know that people are saying, oh,
- 10:46Speaker 1: things are increasing in price, you know, food is increasing
- 10:49Speaker 1: in price, everything's increasing. I think I saw a video
- 10:51Speaker 1: that prices have gone up increasing by $1 or so.
- 10:58Speaker 1: For what is it like the cost of or what's
- 11:01Speaker 1: the reason again? The total value just in general, is it? OK, OK. Well, um,
- 11:06Speaker 1: we're not spared even when we go across the causeway.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Because I think for most Singaporeans, the reason why we
- 11:11Speaker 1: want to go to like places like Johor or JB
- 11:14Speaker 1: in particular is that it is cheaper to eat, to shop,
- 11:18Speaker 1: you know, to do anything is a little bit cheaper there.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Significantly cheaper though, I would say, not, not a little bit, significantly.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Is it still 3 to 1? Uh, I'm not sure
- 11:27Speaker 1: about the currency right now, but for this Singaporean man who, um,
- 11:30Speaker 1: went to this food stall over in JB, he ordered
- 11:33Speaker 1: like a, you know, something like nasikanda kind of vibes, right?
- 11:36Speaker 1: So it's, it's, uh,
- 11:38Speaker 1: You order a bunch of, it's like it's like tai
- 11:40Speaker 1: fan but nasikanda, right? Yeah, OK, so, um, over at
- 11:43Speaker 1: this restaurant, he decided to order a squid, like one sotong, OK.
- 11:48Speaker 1: So typically, according to sources, one sotong, one full sotong
- 11:53Speaker 1: should not cost more than like 4 or $5 Singapore dollars, OK,
- 11:58Speaker 1: in JB because it's the whole, it's the whole piece.
- 11:59Speaker 1: It's not just sliced. You are looking at the alive.
- 12:03Speaker 1: You look like atong right now. Thank you very much.
- 12:06Speaker 1: He unfortunately was charged $11.60 Singapore dollars for one.
- 12:12Speaker 1: One piece of Sotong, which works out to be 36 rm. Yeah, exactly. So, um,
- 12:19Speaker 1: when he was charged $11.60 you know, he was obviously mortified, right?
- 12:23Speaker 1: When he looked at the receipt, he was like, what? He,
- 12:25Speaker 1: he took to social media immediately, said it feels like
- 12:27Speaker 1: a rip-off, um, and you know, that was just one
- 12:31Speaker 1: item that he ordered in his nasi champo, right? So
- 12:34Speaker 1: including everything.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Else, it was going to cost him up to almost
- 12:38Speaker 1: like what, like, I'm assuming almost $20 for his meal.
- 12:41Speaker 1: And given how he's in JB, would he dare argue
- 12:44Speaker 1: with the store owner. So I think he just kind
- 12:47Speaker 1: of took to social media. I don't think he made
- 12:48Speaker 1: a scene or anything at all. Um, so his meal
- 12:51Speaker 1: reportedly totaled to up to 17++ dollars, which is quite
- 12:56Speaker 1: expensive if you go to JB and eat this meal, right?
- 12:59Speaker 1: Um, and I think from another store owner that's near
- 13:02Speaker 1: this particular shop that overcharged for the Sotong, um, they
- 13:06Speaker 1: did say that typically it's going to be $490 Sing
- 13:08Speaker 1: dollars for one whole Sotong, OK.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Um, netizens are saying, hey, you know what, as tourists, right,
- 13:15Speaker 1: we encourage you to confirm the prices before ordering. So look,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I think, um, even their own netizens are saying, hey,
- 13:22Speaker 1: if you are visiting here, just make sure that you check,
- 13:24Speaker 1: $17 for Nasi Chassanda, that's like food court prices here
- 13:32Speaker 1: in Singapore, man. Is it that expensive here in Singapore?
- 13:36Speaker 1: I mean.
- 13:36Speaker 1: In certain areas like have you been to a nasi
- 13:39Speaker 1: padang store in a food court in a mall? You
- 13:41Speaker 1: mean MBS, this kind of vibe MBS Vivo City, even
- 13:45Speaker 1: like your more upmarket malls. Yeah, 2 meat, fish, and
- 13:49Speaker 1: one vegetable, $19. Think about it. You never know, yeah.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I mean, it's, yeah, yeah, you're not wrong, but um, yeah, this, uh,
- 13:56Speaker 1: let this be a reminder to all of us wherever
- 13:59Speaker 1: we go, wherever we travel, I'm sure.
- 14:02Speaker 1: People will realize that we're tourists. So just be extra
- 14:04Speaker 1: careful and check before you pay. Try to find a
- 14:07Speaker 1: menu with the prices, yeah. More often than not, these
- 14:10Speaker 1: places menu. I'm joking. This happened to me yesterday, and
- 14:15Speaker 1: then this morning I was scrolling through some news publication
- 14:18Speaker 1: websites here in Singapore. I actually saw on a citizen
- 14:22Speaker 1: journalism website that somebody called this out as well. And
- 14:25Speaker 1: this can happen on your Grab.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Tadas, ride, whatever apps you use, OK, where if you
- 14:32Speaker 1: book a car and the car's slightly new and high
- 14:35Speaker 1: tech and all that, they could have a video screen
- 14:39Speaker 1: right next to the driver, and sometimes I've entered cars
- 14:43Speaker 1: where the driver is streaming off YouTube playing songs. That's
- 14:48Speaker 1: OK because it's just a song that's playing, but some
- 14:51Speaker 1: are actually watching.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Shows and streaming movies or drama series or even YouTube
- 14:59Speaker 1: music videos. OK, to, to be honest, like as a driver,
- 15:03Speaker 1: I feel like streaming any video of any kind that's
- 15:06Speaker 1: right next to me is distracting enough. Like music, I
- 15:09Speaker 1: need music, that's for sure, but the visuals, is very distracting.
- 15:14Speaker 1: And if he is not subscribed to YouTube Premium, there'll
- 15:16Speaker 1: be ads that play.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And sometimes for these ads, and this happened to me yesterday,
- 15:21Speaker 1: it's the, the, the mummy movie that's being shown in
- 15:24Speaker 1: cinemas now. It's the, it's the scary one, right, with
- 15:27Speaker 1: the little girl. Yeah, so I was a little bit alarmed. Yeah,
- 15:31Speaker 1: it's not your thing. So I was telling my driver, bro,
- 15:34Speaker 1: if you think you can switch or turn it down.
- 15:37Speaker 1: He said, Hey, why I can multitask la. Oh my God,
- 15:40Speaker 1: that's not the point. You shouldn't be multitasking when you're driving. Yeah,
- 15:43Speaker 1: and this exact same.
- 15:45Speaker 1: situation happened to somebody and this person shared it online
- 15:48Speaker 1: saying that I feel a bit alarmed whenever I see
- 15:51Speaker 1: a video screen in a car because by right the
- 15:54Speaker 1: driver should be focusing and even without a video screen,
- 15:58Speaker 1: there will be accidents. Yeah, true. Why do, why do
- 16:01Speaker 1: you want to encourage more accidents with a video being
- 16:03Speaker 1: played while you're driving? Actually, correct me if I'm wrong.
- 16:07Speaker 1: If you're tuning in now and you know more about
- 16:08Speaker 1: tech and stuff more than more than me but um
- 16:11Speaker 1: from what I
- 16:13Speaker 1: I understand. Certain cars actually, they do have a safety
- 16:15Speaker 1: feature where you cannot play. It may come with an
- 16:17Speaker 1: inbuilt screen, but it doesn't allow you to play videos.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Like even if you fire off like Netflix or YouTube, the,
- 16:23Speaker 1: the visuals don't go up. The audio comes out, like
- 16:26Speaker 1: you can listen to music if you want, but it
- 16:28Speaker 1: doesn't come out on the screen. So I think this
- 16:31Speaker 1: could be a safety feature for some cars because you're
- 16:34Speaker 1: looking at the roads, you're looking at your phone for directions,
- 16:37Speaker 1: you're looking at your phone for bookings.
- 16:39Speaker 1: If you were to look at the screen, even a
- 16:40Speaker 1: small glance during like a jump scare or an exciting scene,
- 16:44Speaker 1: what's to say something won't happen? Yeah, no, I mean,
- 16:47Speaker 1: like you said, right, um, I, I hope that they
- 16:53Speaker 1: have some regulation about this. I don't needs to be
- 16:57Speaker 1: looked at. Actually, I think, you know, the, the screens
- 17:00Speaker 1: at the back of the driver's seat to entertain the passengers,
- 17:03Speaker 1: it used to be a thing. It used to be
- 17:04Speaker 1: a thing like I, I remember this.
- 17:06Speaker 1: When they started installing it and stuff, that's fine because
- 17:08Speaker 1: you can turn it off if you want. So again,
- 17:10Speaker 1: disclaimer to all drivers here in Singapore, private hire drivers,
- 17:13Speaker 1: we're not taking away your fun. This is more of
- 17:15Speaker 1: a safety thing, to be honest with you. And as
- 17:17Speaker 1: a passenger, I, I feel more. Actually, I think I
- 17:22Speaker 1: worry more as a passenger than I do as a driver. Well,
- 17:25Speaker 1: we know you. We know you love money. I think
- 17:27Speaker 1: all of us do. How about $8000 in cold hard cash.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Yeah, fantastic. You know what I always wondered? How's the
- 17:35Speaker 1: cash delivered to them? Is it a pay now transfer?
- 17:38Speaker 1: Is it a check? Is it what is it? Cash
- 17:40Speaker 1: cashier's check. Yeah. No, you know what, that's something I
- 17:44Speaker 1: want to ask boss Janice, like how do we award
- 17:47Speaker 1: every year that goes by, we always give out cash prizes.
- 17:49Speaker 1: How do we award these winners? I feel like whoever
- 17:52Speaker 1: wins Secret Sound, we should the person. And can you
- 17:55Speaker 1: imagine if they really received a payout and the note
- 17:58Speaker 1: was Secret Sound winner like right there.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Can you give us more credit? OK, 987. OK, let's
- 18:06Speaker 1: boss and ask her, OK? OK. How do they usually
- 18:08Speaker 1: transfer the money to the winner? Let's ask her right now.
- 18:10Speaker 1: I'll do it now.
- 18:12Speaker 1: 87 Secret.
- 18:17Speaker 1: What's that sound
- 18:19Speaker 1: Hello, good morning. I'm AK here. Hello.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Is this your first time calling through? Yes. Alright, I
- 18:27Speaker 1: must say though, 8K sounds quite close to 8K, could
- 18:31Speaker 1: this be a sign? Let's go. Is it written in
- 18:34Speaker 1: the stars? The universe giving us signs here. Listen very carefully.
- 18:40Speaker 1: AK, for $8000 what is a 987 secret sound? Abacus.
- 18:47Speaker 1: What we learned in primary school, right? Abacus. I wonder
- 18:50Speaker 1: whether do we still learn it in this day and age,
- 18:53Speaker 1: but let's see.
- 18:54Speaker 1: You are incorrect. Your chance to play 987's secret sound continues.
- 19:02Speaker 1: That.
- 19:04Speaker 1: AK, I'm so sorry to say that Abacus has been
- 19:08Speaker 1: guest before. So it is not the correct answer. You
- 19:12Speaker 1: have to tune in every show, OK? Thank you. Bye bye.
- 19:17Speaker 1: So one guess, win this.
- 19:22Speaker 1: What's that? OK, so, um, something just happened this morning
- 19:26Speaker 1: where my own partner Germs dropped me a message. OK.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Congratulations are in order for one of our friends because
- 19:33Speaker 1: he just proposed and, and she said yes. Congratulations. Yeah, congrats. So, uh,
- 19:39Speaker 1: it was a long time coming, you know, they've been
- 19:41Speaker 1: together for a bit now and I think we were
- 19:43Speaker 1: all kind of expecting, anticipating for it to happen this year,
- 19:46Speaker 1: sometime this year.
- 19:47Speaker 1: And uh the interesting thing is, when that friend of
- 19:51Speaker 1: theirs sent the picture to the group chat, it was
- 19:54Speaker 1: just a picture of, um, well, a little picture of
- 19:58Speaker 1: the setup, but really nothing much was explained in the photos.
- 20:03Speaker 1: He had no caption, no other text. He just sent
- 20:04Speaker 1: the photo. So it's not like the selfie of my finger. No, no, no,
- 20:09Speaker 1: no such selfie. So it was just a picture of
- 20:11Speaker 1: the ring box.
- 20:12Speaker 1: And the sign that said, will you marry me, right?
- 20:15Speaker 1: And he sends that to their chat with like no context,
- 20:19Speaker 1: just like that. OK, it's self-explanatory. And the chats 3
- 20:22Speaker 1: of them. So 3, they're really close, like 3 really
- 20:25Speaker 1: close friends. And so one of the bros goes, congrats! OK.
- 20:31Speaker 1: And then, wait, let me just read out the rest
- 20:33Speaker 1: of it to you. Oh, here we go. So it goes, congrats.
- 20:39Speaker 1: And then, um, Germs replies, congrats, and the other guy goes, nice.
- 20:45Speaker 1: And that's the end of the conversation. The guy who
- 20:48Speaker 1: said nice, nice, yeah, was he trying to be different?
- 20:52Speaker 1: Just nice. Just say like congrats. So I was like,
- 20:58Speaker 1: when Germs send me the screen grab because of course
- 21:00Speaker 1: I went to text them and say congrats as well. Nice.
- 21:03Speaker 1: But um, when he sent me the screen grab, I
- 21:05Speaker 1: was like, oh my Lord, you bros are like men
- 21:09Speaker 1: of little words or what? OK, before you bunch me
- 21:13Speaker 1: up with them.
- 21:14Speaker 1: You would know that, OK, when you say man, man,
- 21:17Speaker 1: it's not me lah. I'm, I'm more new age. I'm
- 21:20Speaker 1: more dramatic, I'm more expressive. dramatic. So, OK, but also
- 21:25Speaker 1: I feel on this episode of Men Explained, I, I,
- 21:28Speaker 1: I feel like um it's also in relation to the
- 21:32Speaker 1: picture that was sent.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Um, OK, hold on, hold on. So Germs, when we
- 21:38Speaker 1: got engaged, Germs sent the same bro chat, a picture
- 21:41Speaker 1: of us, and I was laughing and holding my hand up.
- 21:45Speaker 1: They also responded with one or two words like, oh,
- 21:48Speaker 1: so I thought this is a guy thing or what? Like, OK,
- 21:51Speaker 1: here's the, here's the thing, OK. So the way I
- 21:54Speaker 1: Shared with my friends, you would know because you're one
- 21:56Speaker 1: of them. I immediately called people. I called the group chats,
- 21:58Speaker 1: I video called people, you know, but of course, the
- 22:00Speaker 1: first people I called were my parents, um, and, and
- 22:03Speaker 1: they were all like video calls and all screaming and responding.
- 22:06Speaker 1: So there's a huge difference when women announce something big
- 22:11Speaker 1: versus men. no.
- 22:13Speaker 1: There is a difference. This is not gender specific, OK.
- 22:18Speaker 1: If my friends get engaged or they announce they're having
- 22:20Speaker 1: a baby, I will video bubble myself saying, Oi, congrats.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Oh my God, I'm so happy for you. You know,
- 22:27Speaker 1: it's those people who
- 22:30Speaker 1: We might not show emotion too much. That's the congrats. Nice!
- 22:35Speaker 1: Exclamation mark. OK, let's let's let's find out from you
- 22:39Speaker 1: tuning in right now. 669-11987. Do you think there is
- 22:44Speaker 1: a big difference in the way men and women react?
- 22:48Speaker 1: I don't have to good news. You say don't have,
- 22:50Speaker 1: I have. It's how comfortable you are showing emotion.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Perhaps, perhaps, but I think for the most part men
- 22:56Speaker 1: don't show as much emotion. That's the thing. Then there's me, yeah,
- 22:59Speaker 1: I know, but you already said that you're different and
- 23:01Speaker 1: you're more, you're dramatic. Yeah, yeah, you're like a sis
- 23:04Speaker 1: to me, you know, drama mama. They chelorette. You're not
- 23:08Speaker 1: a girl.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Um, one of our friends just got engaged and it
- 23:11Speaker 1: triggered off a bit of a conversation between Joakim and I.
- 23:15Speaker 1: In the difference between the way men and women react
- 23:19Speaker 1: to pieces of news like that, like when you have
- 23:22Speaker 1: something exciting to announce your chat, do the guys and
- 23:25Speaker 1: the girls react differently? Let's.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Go to our messages first. I want to say good
- 23:29Speaker 1: morning to Ali, who says, morning Sokim. Unfortunately, I have
- 23:32Speaker 1: to disagree with Joakim. Oh, OK. There's a huge difference
- 23:36Speaker 1: between men and women. I have two chat groups, the boys'
- 23:40Speaker 1: chat groups and the mixed chat group. When I share
- 23:42Speaker 1: good news, the boys' chat did.
- 23:46Speaker 1: The mixed chat buzzing. But one thing to note though,
- 23:50Speaker 1: the boys don't show much emotion, I know for a
- 23:52Speaker 1: fact they'll be there for me anytime, anywhere like the Avengers. Yes, really.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I mean, wait, wait, wait, Ali, so you mean to
- 23:59Speaker 1: tell me when you share good news, none of your
- 24:01Speaker 1: bros go, Hey, bro, hey, congrats, man, bro, but the
- 24:05Speaker 1: conversation will die very fast.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Really, really, that's what I noticed with the guys in
- 24:09Speaker 1: the chat. You know what, maybe I've been hanging around
- 24:12Speaker 1: you too much, but you have a lot of female friends.
- 24:15Speaker 1: That's the thing. Now I realize, I'm the kind, Hey bro, congrats.
- 24:17Speaker 1: How did it happen? Oh, why, why today? You ask
- 24:20Speaker 1: a lot of follow-up questions, right? To which I realized
- 24:23Speaker 1: like germs and his bros, they don't ask these kind
- 24:25Speaker 1: of follow-up questions.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Like, why are there no follow up? You're not asking
- 24:30Speaker 1: the right questions. OK, calm down. Joshua just texted in. Hey,
- 24:35Speaker 1: Sonia and Joakim, sharing my thoughts here. I tend to
- 24:37Speaker 1: think that ladies tend to use capital letters more.
- 24:41Speaker 1: But when I look back, it's more context-specific. I think
- 24:44Speaker 1: sports loving men will react more dramatically, you know, when
- 24:47Speaker 1: menu scores late winners. Yeah, OK, I, I, I get
- 24:50Speaker 1: it I get it. You react to different things, different
- 24:52Speaker 1: things make you feel emotional, I guess. I don't know. OK,
- 24:55Speaker 1: I got one here from MK. It says, for me, yes,
- 24:58Speaker 1: men and women.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Have their differences in reacting to good news. Women, yes,
- 25:02Speaker 1: we know, are a bit more emotional. For example, you
- 25:04Speaker 1: can tell a woman, you're pregnant. They'll instantly video call you,
- 25:08Speaker 1: express their emotions, they might even cry for you. But men,
- 25:11Speaker 1: they'll be like, hey, congrats, good job. Nice. So yes,
- 25:14Speaker 1: that's my take on today's topic. I do agree.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Sonia, it's true, it's true. If you ever tell me, Joe,
- 25:21Speaker 1: I'm pregnant and I reply to you, nice, deleting you.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Unfollow, block, delete. Nice. With the thumbs up, right? OK, uh,
- 25:32Speaker 1: we're hilarious convos here. Keep it going. 669-11987 if you'd
- 25:36Speaker 1: like to call us or drop us a message 90050987
- 25:40Speaker 1: in exchange a pair of tickets for you to be
- 25:42Speaker 1: the first in Singapore to catch Michael. Um, it's based
- 25:45Speaker 1: on the life of Michael Jackson. Critic reviews are in good?
- 25:49Speaker 1: It's so far. Very good. OK, so we want you there.
- 25:52Speaker 1: We want you there for sure. 987.
- 25:53Speaker 1: night in just a week's time. And Joakim's just uh
- 25:56Speaker 1: run on down to get a quick breakfast. So I
- 25:59Speaker 1: think he ordered something and he's gonna be back in
- 26:01Speaker 1: just a couple of seconds because we're gonna take some
- 26:03Speaker 1: calls very soon. But first, more messages coming through now.
- 26:06Speaker 1: This really just cracked us up this morning because um
- 26:09Speaker 1: I had a little text message coming through this morning
- 26:12Speaker 1: that one of our friends got engaged, and I was like, oh, congrats.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Oh my God. I was like, how did it happen? Where?
- 26:17Speaker 1: Where did he do it?
- 26:18Speaker 1: Um, and, and it was so funny because my own
- 26:20Speaker 1: partner Germs, he sent me like a screen grab of
- 26:22Speaker 1: his boys chat where it was announced, and literally the guys,
- 26:26Speaker 1: there are 3 of them in that chat, they exchanged
- 26:28Speaker 1: like one-liners and like one word, you know, congrats, not
- 26:31Speaker 1: even congratulations, so happy for you, just congrats, full stop.
- 26:35Speaker 1: To which I said, wow, um, such a different way
- 26:39Speaker 1: that men and women react sometimes. I don't know if
- 26:41Speaker 1: it's gender-specific or personality-wise, but from what we're hearing so far,
- 26:45Speaker 1: it could be gender-specific. Um, saying hi to, to A here,
- 26:51Speaker 1: you didn't quite leave your name.
- 26:52Speaker 1: You said, morning, Sojo. Yes, the guys and the girls
- 26:55Speaker 1: always have different reactions to things. For ladies, they always
- 26:59Speaker 1: react to emotions. Guys react to levels of importance. Um,
- 27:03Speaker 1: but when it comes to gossip or saying things about
- 27:06Speaker 1: other people, now that will blow up the chat. You're
- 27:09Speaker 1: not wrong. You're not wrong when it comes to that.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Uh, we're gonna hit to phone lines actually. We've got
- 27:14Speaker 1: Sam on the line. Sam, what do you think? 100%.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Why so? Tell us, Sam. I want to hear from you.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Give us an example.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Well, I think like a guy, it's always like, oh,
- 27:23Speaker 2: good job, and, and that's it. We've got too emotional.
- 27:26Speaker 2: People think we're too involved, and then.
- 27:29Speaker 2: As for the ladies, it's natural to be expressive and emotional, right? True,
- 27:33Speaker 1: true.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Like we can't cry. I mean, I have to, I
- 27:36Speaker 2: had to share like the day when my wife told
- 27:37Speaker 2: me that she's pregnant. I'm like, good job.
- 27:40Speaker 1: No way you said that, really? Wow, Sam, why like this? OK,
- 27:45Speaker 1: but judging from Sam's mentality, right, in that case, I'm
- 27:48Speaker 1: involved in everyone's business. The way I react to things.
- 27:52Speaker 1: I mean, look, I'm the kind that will ask a
- 27:54Speaker 1: lot of follow-up questions too. I don't know whether it's
- 27:55Speaker 1: inherently like the ladies that might do that, but, OK, does,
- 27:58Speaker 1: does your wife feel like you lack a lot of emotion, Sam? Probably,
- 28:02Speaker 2: probably, but, well, that, that again, joking, it's you're unique,
- 28:06Speaker 2: you're special. Be yourself and please continue to be you.
- 28:10Speaker 2: This
- 28:11Speaker 1: is such a very condescending tone of life. I love
- 28:13Speaker 1: that for you.
- 28:15Speaker 1: It's 3 years old. Sam, has your wife given birth yet?
- 28:20Speaker 2: Yes, of course. When you
- 28:21Speaker 1: held your baby for the first time, can you at
- 28:24Speaker 1: least cry? Give us something, man.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I remember that the moment she, the moment the, the,
- 28:31Speaker 2: the gynae took her up from the, the tummy, I
- 28:33Speaker 2: was like, oh my God, she's so pretty. Oh,
- 28:38Speaker 1: Sam has emotions after all. I love that. Speaking of
- 28:41Speaker 1: the different ways men and women react, simply because um
- 28:45Speaker 1: an incident happened this morning where
- 28:47Speaker 1: I heard one of our friends got engaged, to which, uh, Germs,
- 28:51Speaker 1: my partner actually sent me the screen grab of what
- 28:53Speaker 1: happened in his buddy's chat, which is just like three bros,
- 28:56Speaker 1: and the way that they shared the engagement news was
- 28:59Speaker 1: so matter of fact and so like one-liner, one word,
- 29:03Speaker 1: you know, the responses included things like congrats, full stop, um,
- 29:08Speaker 1: nice exclamation mark.
- 29:10Speaker 1: To which I said, hey, you know what, the girls'
- 29:13Speaker 1: chat is lit, ah, compared to your boy's chat. OK lah.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I mean, when my best friend Iggy told me that
- 29:18Speaker 1: he got, uh, he, he, he proposed, yes, to his now, sorry,
- 29:23Speaker 1: tongue tied for a bit. I went, hey, bro.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Tell me how it happened, and I said no need lie.
- 29:30Speaker 1: She said yes, that's the most important thing. OK, so
- 29:32Speaker 1: he's a very like he's a typical bro. He didn't
- 29:34Speaker 1: give any details. He can if he wants to. If
- 29:37Speaker 1: the topic is of his interest, he will give all
- 29:40Speaker 1: the details he loves. That means gossip or tea la. Yes,
- 29:44Speaker 1: I say good morning to Aisha. Aisha says morning, Soki.
- 29:48Speaker 1: At least you didn't get a K. Yeah, stop. Many
- 29:52Speaker 1: men and boys are capable of that, are capable, yes.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Had to, sorry. OK. 87. Alexo gonna be here in
- 30:01Speaker 1: Singapore this weekend, by the way, so make sure you
- 30:03Speaker 1: catch him. I think tickets for Palm Tree Music Festival
- 30:06Speaker 1: still going. Oh, it's Palm Tree. Yeah, Palm Tree. I
- 30:09Speaker 1: almost hit Palm Beach. Palm isn't it Palm Tree? Yes, yes,
- 30:13Speaker 1: Palm Tree Palm Tree Music Festival.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Palm Palm Beach is the seafood restaurant, right? Oh, that's
- 30:19Speaker 1: Long Beach, I think. Joe, you're getting it all mixed up.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Pretty sure the seafood restaurant is called Long Beach. There's
- 30:25Speaker 1: a Palm Beach Seafood. Oh, there is Fullerton Road. Oh,
- 30:28Speaker 1: I didn't know that. Got it. OK, but you didn't,
- 30:29Speaker 1: you didn't know it was that one, right? No, no, no.
- 30:31Speaker 1: You were thinking of Long Beach, right?
- 30:34Speaker 1: I already know. See from your face. OK, more messages
- 30:38Speaker 1: coming through. We're talking about the main differences between the
- 30:40Speaker 1: way men and women react in your girls' chats versus
- 30:43Speaker 1: your boys' chats. I feel like there's always a massive difference.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Say hello to A on WhatsApp. I'm with Sonia on
- 30:49Speaker 1: this one. Men definitely react differently to big news. My
- 30:53Speaker 1: close circle is made up of
- 30:54Speaker 1: Mostly girls. I love how we express our joys and
- 30:57Speaker 1: excitement when we share big news with each other. Even
- 31:00Speaker 1: random sharings get follow-up questions from my girls. Yeah, that
- 31:04Speaker 1: makes you feel like you belong in your group, right?
- 31:08Speaker 1: Men work differently. My partner is a great example. When
- 31:12Speaker 1: I share big news with him, he goes, yay.
- 31:15Speaker 1: See, I told you. When I share a photo of
- 31:18Speaker 1: my lunch or dinner, he goes, yum. Yeah, same. I mean,
- 31:21Speaker 1: same as germs, very similar. OK, again, I think it's
- 31:25Speaker 1: the expressions and the emotions part because if I had
- 31:28Speaker 1: a partner and she shared her lunch with me, I'll say, oh,
- 31:30Speaker 1: what made you crave this? How's the food? Is it spicy?
- 31:33Speaker 1: Is it that's way too much.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Just a lunch picture. That's too much. That's too much.
- 31:37Speaker 1: What's the right way to react to a lunch? No, nothing.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Just for me, if it's a lunch picture, it's not
- 31:43Speaker 1: that big of news, right? I guess. So I'm OK
- 31:45Speaker 1: with just a one word response. It's fine. But like
- 31:48Speaker 1: I don't. I don't need the follow-up questions. Yeah, unless
- 31:51Speaker 1: I cooked it, then maybe I'll tell you more about it.
- 31:54Speaker 1: So you got to judge the situation joking. Next time
- 31:56Speaker 1: I'll send you a picture of my lunch. I'll screenshot
- 31:59Speaker 1: your reply. I will just give you a thumbs up
- 32:02Speaker 1: because it's you, because it's you.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Maddie, what about you? I think yes. Um, no, actually sorry,
- 32:09Speaker 1: it's for me. It depends on the person's personality. Yeah,
- 32:16Speaker 1: we agree with. OK, do you have an example for us? OK,
- 32:19Speaker 1: so I have been with my friends, right, since JC time,
- 32:22Speaker 1: so we've been together for 12 years. A lot of
- 32:25Speaker 1: things have happened. So any new thing that comes up
- 32:28Speaker 1: in one of our lives, right?
- 32:29Speaker 1: be like, oh, OK. So for example, one of our
- 32:32Speaker 1: friends got married, we'll be like, Oh, congrats. Oh, when's
- 32:35Speaker 1: the date? We'll be there. We might not be there. Hi,
- 32:39Speaker 1: so yeah, my friend, she was married for like 3 months,
- 32:43Speaker 1: and then after she dropped us a bomb text saying that, guys,
- 32:47Speaker 1: I'm officially free from the marriage now, and we were
- 32:50Speaker 1: just like, oh, how did that happen? And she just replied,
- 32:55Speaker 1: you know.
- 32:55Speaker 1: One sentence, it just happened like that. Oh my gosh, what?
- 32:59Speaker 1: That's like no details, very matter of fact. And so,
- 33:04Speaker 1: so we know her, her personality is just like that.
- 33:07Speaker 1: We don't, we don't really ask too many questions. So
- 33:10Speaker 1: she just says it as it is. Yeah, so you
- 33:12Speaker 1: know who, because I'm more dramatic. I cannot get to express,
- 33:17Speaker 1: you know who I express it to? I express it
- 33:19Speaker 1: to my husband.
- 33:22Speaker 1: You know what, me too. And, and can I guess,
- 33:26Speaker 1: a lot of the time your husband and my own
- 33:28Speaker 1: partner does this too. Sometimes if we go on for
- 33:30Speaker 1: too long, their expression starts going blank because they're zoning
- 33:33Speaker 1: out already. like, what? Why is it? What's going on?
- 33:38Speaker 1: What happened? I'll.
- 33:41Speaker 1: You know, he's the man for you. He's the man
- 33:44Speaker 1: for you. Talking about the main differences between the way
- 33:47Speaker 1: men and women react. Sometimes in your guys's chat or
- 33:50Speaker 1: your girl's chats, right, you get very different types of reactions.
- 33:54Speaker 1: You can trust the girls' chats to always give you
- 33:56Speaker 1: the kind of reaction and emotion you want. The bros
- 33:59Speaker 1: chat may be one-worded. Hey, it's true. I disagree. It's facts,
- 34:03Speaker 1: but never mind. Want to say good morning to Delilah.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Hey there, Delilah.
- 34:08Speaker 1: My team leader is a female. She replies with no emotion,
- 34:12Speaker 1: even at gossip. I quit telling her anything, gossip or not.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Her replies are usually, thanks. OK. Oh really? Did you
- 34:21Speaker 1: message him? No! With no exclamation marks. Oh, no expression
- 34:25Speaker 1: and no emojis. Oh man. No wonder she has no boyfriend.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Yo, that burn though Delilah giving us the burns in
- 34:39Speaker 1: the mosque. Somebody called her CDS is probably not her
- 34:41Speaker 1: real name actually at this 0.1 coming in from MK.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Hey guys, MK here for me.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Yes, men and women have their differences in reacting to
- 34:50Speaker 1: good news, as women are more emotional than men. Again,
- 34:53Speaker 1: I disagree. For example, you can tell the women you're
- 34:56Speaker 1: pregnant and they will instantly video call you and express
- 34:59Speaker 1: their emotions. Some will even cry tears of joy for you,
- 35:02Speaker 1: but as for men, on the other hand, they reply
- 35:04Speaker 1: with a, Hey, congrats, good job. So yeah, that's my
- 35:07Speaker 1: take on today's topic. It's true, it's true. I completely agree,
- 35:10Speaker 1: and for that we give you those tickets.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Congratulations, MK. Now, like, we always say it's very difficult
- 35:18Speaker 1: to choose a winner because look, all of your answers
- 35:20Speaker 1: are great, right? But um, hey, you know what, you're
- 35:22Speaker 1: the lucky winner here today. Those two tickets to be
- 35:25Speaker 1: the first in Singapore to catch Michael.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Can I, uh, just tell you what MK typed to
- 35:31Speaker 1: us right now? Three capital letters OMG Woohoo. Well, it
- 35:36Speaker 1: really sounds like you enjoy the movie. Now, this is
- 35:39Speaker 1: how men will react.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Three letters, right? Exactly. So, to the point, once again,
- 35:46Speaker 1: please enjoy 987 movie night happens in just a week.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Sonia and Joe came here with you. Justin Bieber, of course,
- 35:52Speaker 1: having had a big weekend over the past week. I mean,
- 35:55Speaker 1: not just big weekend but big paycheck. Oh yeah, that's
- 35:58Speaker 1: for sure. $10 million. Wow.
- 36:01Speaker 1: You know, you know, you've made it when you can
- 36:04Speaker 1: invoice someone 10 million, that many zeros. I don't know
- 36:07Speaker 1: if we'll ever see that in our lifetime. That's quite
- 36:09Speaker 1: close to Chinese New Year period. That's nuts, man. Yeah,
- 36:16Speaker 1: but hey, you know what, this, it is what it is.
- 36:18Speaker 1: This is life, and I think it's quite relative because
- 36:21Speaker 1: um for people if they are.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Of that level already, right? Charging $10 million for example,
- 36:27Speaker 1: that could be our version of like $10,000. You know
- 36:31Speaker 1: what I mean? Because it's relative to them, like their
- 36:33Speaker 1: spending is different too and all that. I wonder how
- 36:38Speaker 1: much Sabrina Carpenter was paid for both Coachellas happened last
- 36:41Speaker 1: weekend and this weekend. And I believe that according to sources.
- 36:45Speaker 1: It was one of the more expensive sets, la, so
- 36:47Speaker 1: we'll see. I don't know. Anyway, coming up in just
- 36:50Speaker 1: a little bit, like we mentioned, I've got some food
- 36:52Speaker 1: news just for you. This time number one hit music station,
- 36:55Speaker 1: Sonia and Joe came here with you. Justin Bieber, of course,
- 36:58Speaker 1: having had a big weekend over the past week. I mean,
- 37:01Speaker 1: not just big weekend but big paycheck. Oh yeah, that's
- 37:04Speaker 1: for sure. $10 million. Wow.
- 37:07Speaker 1: You know, you know, you've made it when you can
- 37:09Speaker 1: invoice someone 10 million, that many zeros. I don't know
- 37:12Speaker 1: if we'll ever see that in our lifetime. That's quite
- 37:15Speaker 1: close to Chinese New Year period. That's nuts, man. Yeah,
- 37:21Speaker 1: but hey, you know what, this, it is what it is.
- 37:23Speaker 1: This is life and I think it's quite relative because
- 37:27Speaker 1: um for people if they are of that level already, right.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Averaging $10 million for example, that could be our version
- 37:34Speaker 1: of like $10,000. You know what I mean? Because it's
- 37:37Speaker 1: relative to them, like their spending is different too and
- 37:40Speaker 1: all that. I wonder how much Sabrina Carpenter was paid
- 37:43Speaker 1: for both Coachellas happened last weekend and this weekend. And
- 37:48Speaker 1: I believe that according to sources, hers was one of
- 37:51Speaker 1: the more expensive sets, so we'll see. I don't know.
- 37:55Speaker 1: And it's time for some food news. You're gonna see
- 37:57Speaker 1: me sing this live on TikTok right now at 987.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Here we go. 123, food news. Food news. Sonia with
- 38:05Speaker 1: the good food news. Give it to us, Miss Chuw. OK,
- 38:08Speaker 1: so like I said earlier, um, it's got to do
- 38:10Speaker 1: with sandwiches, which I think both of us enjoy very much.
- 38:13Speaker 1: It's just that I take very long to finish one
- 38:15Speaker 1: sandwich and you wolf it down in like 5 seconds.
- 38:19Speaker 1: The same amount of time Sonia takes.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Finish a 6 inch. I finish my foot long. That's true. No,
- 38:23Speaker 1: it's true, honestly. And I think if Joakim were to
- 38:26Speaker 1: try and eat at the same pace as me, he
- 38:28Speaker 1: would just like fall asleep of boredom. He will. It's
- 38:32Speaker 1: not that bad. But um, I'm not sure when you
- 38:35Speaker 1: went to New York. I know you've been to New
- 38:37Speaker 1: York once and you've been to the US more than once, right?
- 38:40Speaker 1: You've heard of places like Cat's Deli, for example, right?
- 38:43Speaker 1: Famous delis. Um, they do have, I mean, the.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Because they love their sandwiches. They usually have like a
- 38:48Speaker 1: thick slice of cheese, you know, your meats and stuff
- 38:51Speaker 1: like that. Wow, it's so delicious and piping hot. A
- 38:53Speaker 1: tuna melts. Yes. So, um, coincidentally, today is the date
- 38:59Speaker 1: that you need to save because a new sandwich deli
- 39:02Speaker 1: is coming to town, joining the ranks of other popular
- 39:06Speaker 1: sandwich joints here. Um, this place is called Between Buns.
- 39:12Speaker 1: They're not entirely new to the scene. Um, they started
- 39:14Speaker 1: as a booming home-based business, giving a shout out to
- 39:18Speaker 1: Chef Amir actually during the pandemic, they won hearts for its, uh,
- 39:22Speaker 1: fried chicken semis. So the sandwich is really good. Then,
- 39:25Speaker 1: you know, they had pop-ups and things like that to,
- 39:28Speaker 1: I guess, test the market and test the crowd a
- 39:30Speaker 1: little bit.
- 39:30Speaker 1: And guess what? Now, they've got a permanent home at
- 39:33Speaker 1: SBF Center along Cecil Street. So this is directly targeting
- 39:37Speaker 1: your working crowd. I think it's super smart because you
- 39:39Speaker 1: can just walk on in, buy a sandwich, pop off,
- 39:42Speaker 1: or you want to just stay there, it's fine as well,
- 39:44Speaker 1: but they've got um,
- 39:45Speaker 1: Classic deli staples like what you mentioned, tuna melts, hearty
- 39:49Speaker 1: breakfast sandwiches, cold brew coffees, fresh baked, wow, the list
- 39:52Speaker 1: goes on. I just realized you said SBF Center, right?
- 39:55Speaker 1: It's just below my gym. Oh, I'm gonna try it. OK. Oh,
- 39:58Speaker 1: I didn't know your gym was at Robinson Road for
- 39:59Speaker 1: lunch now. OK, 160 Robinson Road. Check around. It's gonna
- 40:03Speaker 1: be good news. Nothing bad. Which kind of cuisine for
- 40:07Speaker 1: this one? It will be, wow, this one is tough
- 40:09Speaker 1: to say, but it's related to.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Sandwiches. And it's time for some food news. You're gonna
- 40:15Speaker 1: see me sing this live on TikTok right now at 987.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Here we go. 123, food news. Food news. Sonia with
- 40:23Speaker 1: the good food news. Give it to us, Miss Chuw. OK,
- 40:26Speaker 1: so like I said earlier, um, it's got to do
- 40:28Speaker 1: with sandwiches, which I think both of us enjoy very much.
- 40:30Speaker 1: It's just that I take very long to finish one
- 40:33Speaker 1: sandwich and you wolf it down in like 5 seconds.
- 40:36Speaker 1: The same amount of time.
- 40:37Speaker 1: So it takes to finish a 6-inch. I finish my
- 40:40Speaker 1: foot long. That's true. No, it's true, honestly. And I
- 40:42Speaker 1: think if Joakim were to try and eat at the
- 40:44Speaker 1: same pace as me, he would just like fall asleep
- 40:47Speaker 1: of boredom. I have to? He will. It's not that bad,
- 40:51Speaker 1: but um, I'm not sure when you went to New York.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I know you've been to New York once and you've
- 40:56Speaker 1: been to the US more than once, right? You've heard
- 40:58Speaker 1: of places like Cat's Deli, for example, right? Famous delis. Um,
- 41:02Speaker 1: they do have, I mean.
- 41:03Speaker 1: In the US they love their sandwiches. They usually have
- 41:06Speaker 1: like a thick slice of cheese, you know, your meats
- 41:08Speaker 1: and stuff like that. Wow, it's so delicious and piping hot.
- 41:11Speaker 1: A tuna melts. Yes. So, um, coincidentally, today is the
- 41:17Speaker 1: date that you need to save because a new sandwich
- 41:19Speaker 1: deli is coming to town, joining the ranks of other
- 41:23Speaker 1: popular sandwich joints here. Um, this place is called Between Buns.
- 41:30Speaker 1: They're not entirely new to the scene. Um, they started
- 41:32Speaker 1: as a booming home-based business, giving a shout out to
- 41:36Speaker 1: Chef Amir actually during the pandemic, they won hearts for its, uh,
- 41:40Speaker 1: fried chicken semis. So the sandwich is really good. Then,
- 41:43Speaker 1: you know, they had pop-ups and things like that to,
- 41:45Speaker 1: I guess, test the market and test the crowd a
- 41:47Speaker 1: little bit.
- 41:48Speaker 1: And guess what? Now, they've got a permanent home at
- 41:50Speaker 1: SBF Center along Cecil Street. So this is directly targeting
- 41:55Speaker 1: your working crowd. I think it's super smart because you
- 41:57Speaker 1: can just walk on in, buy a sandwich, pop off,
- 42:00Speaker 1: or you want to just stay there, it's fine as well,
- 42:02Speaker 1: but they've got um,
- 42:03Speaker 1: Classic deli staples like what you mentioned, tuna melts, hearty
- 42:06Speaker 1: breakfast sandwiches, cold brew coffees, fresh baked, wow, the list
- 42:10Speaker 1: goes on. I just realized you said SBF Center, right?
- 42:13Speaker 1: It's just below my gym. Oh, I'm gonna try it. OK. Oh,
- 42:15Speaker 1: I didn't know your gym was at Robinson for lunch now. OK,
- 42:18Speaker 1: 160 Robinson Road. Check it out. That's for sure. Well,
- 42:22Speaker 1: we've really had back to back studio guests this week. Yeah,
- 42:25Speaker 1: I mean, it's all it's timely, timely, because for our
- 42:30Speaker 1: next guests in the studio.
- 42:31Speaker 1: We'll come back after the break. This one you've definitely
- 42:34Speaker 1: seen the video, especially if you've did high rocks here
- 42:36Speaker 1: in Singapore. High rocks all over the world. I think
- 42:38Speaker 1: it's actually made the news. Yes, it. It's it's made
- 42:41Speaker 1: some headlines as well here in Singapore. I want to
- 42:43Speaker 1: give a shout out to a certain gym over at
- 42:45Speaker 1: the Kallang Riverside, Fire City. If you're tuned in, come
- 42:49Speaker 1: log on using your phones on TikTok Live and leave
- 42:52Speaker 1: a comment for your trainer Sam in the studio. You

- 42:56Speaker 1: on air in just a second. We're already on TikTok,
- 42:58Speaker 1: so we'll get a bit of an exclusive start.
