because the nature of like the layered prison kind of keeps things interesting. And

it's not like things aren't interesting otherwise, because we have had plenty of surprises

dropped on us in other episodes. This show can be super unpredictable, so

It's not like inherently having something be divided into levels like this is always going

to be a winning strategy. But I just personally really like being everything being

organized in a very specific way so that I know it's going to be basically

themed everywhere we go, and I get to sort of anticipate how that's going

to manifest, because it's one thing to just be told, oh, yeah,

this place is going to be hot, and it's another thing to actually

get there and like see the way it works and how strangely it's built and

everything. It's just a very, very different vibe, and I can anticipate

some of it but not others, which is sort of fun because I get

to play a game where I'm trying to imagine a thing and see if I'm

right, And also I do you guys. I am just such a fan

of the weird team up, not only obviously with our old villains but with

Boa as well, and I just keep being like brought up short at how

weird a choice it was for them to be, Like, what if we

just made Boa fall in love with Loofy? Like I keep forgetting that's the

direction we went, and being reminded and going Oh yeah, right, weird.

So anyway, let's start things off here. Word in Magellan's strategy.

Like you guys have warned me before not to read the titles of the episodes

ahead of time because they can be spoilery. I'm gonna be totally honest.

I completely read this title, not on purpose, but because I was trying

to find my spot and make sure that I was watching the right ones.

And so when I saw that it was like the entrapment was complete. I'm

gonna tell you guys what I thought was in fact, that this wasn't even

about Ace. I thought maybe it was going to be, Oh, we

captured Ace so that we could entrap Loofy because we knew he would come to

rescue him, which does seem kind of far fetched. Like, you know,

I don't know that I would really have loved that if it were true,

but that was what I was sort of thinking we were about to do

based on that title. So you know, I just wanted to let you

all know that sometimes you can get spoiled kind of and still wind up drawing

the wrong conclusions and wind up in the wrong place. So yeah, you

know, it's great to see how much my brain just does what it feels

like, even when it's directly being given information, it can still go haywire.

So this whole sequence here, y'all is really great because the main first

thing that we have is a like confrontation is the wrong word. Boa is

leaving the facility. She's being led out by that weird hot guard woman who

also seems to like have a crush on her, which you know that follows

because all of her citizens also seem to kind of have a crush on her.

And when she says thank you for everything, this girl turns rosy and

it's like, oh, of course. And as she is about to leave,

she says, one last thing, did I hear correctly that there was

a report of an intruder earlier? And this girl says, well, yes,

but like you know, there's no possible way that this guy is going

to get out of here because this is airtight and we're just going to lock

it down so that he can't get out. He's going to become a permanent

resident. And I think that all Boa was attempting was to find out the

status of Loofy as of right now, you know, and just to see,

like, have you caught him? Like what exactly is going on here?

And I really was like, I was sort of wondering if she was

going to try and come up with some other means of I don't know if

I want to say saving him, but like assisting him, you know,

doing something to distract them. I don't know. I don't even really have

like a firmly jelled idea of what that would be. It seems like she

just left, which I was a little surprised by, but I'm not mad

about it, because what is she going to do. Really what she says

as she's leaving is essentially there is no way Lufy wins going up against Magellan.

His power is too much. So I just hope that Lufy has the

sense to bail, because he does need to get the fuck out, like

there's no hope for him. And I was kind of gratified considering how often

we have seen Boa be really self assured that there was an enemy for whom

she had some respect, because so much of the time it has seemed like

she's just going, oh, I could take care of this guy, no

problem, and probably for her because she is able to manipulate Magellan because of

being hot. She wouldn't have a problem, and she's probably just thinking this

in terms of like, well, what's Lufy going to do? Probably nothing,

which we do wind up seeing how few options he actually has. I

don't know how you guys felt watching this fight like the way that it begins,

but I will freely admit I was truly concerned, and I love when

this happens. The show can be very good at that where I'm like,

there's no doubt in my mind. Of course we're getting out of here.

Of course our friends are surviving. Of course we're we have, like,

you know, four hundred more episodes to go more than that. But when

they can still make me kind of go ooh, I don't know if he's

gonna make it out of this. That's talent, you know, making me

really tense and lufy going up against Magellan and they're being like, so so

few options open to him. Everything that he would normally do is gonna get

him killed, because just touching this guy is a death sentence. That's quite

intimidating. And I don't know if we have ever encountered I feel like we

have, and you guys could help me out if you want. I feel

like we have encountered an enemy before that Lufy couldn't physically touch, but I

can't remember who that is. I may not be right about that, but

the fact that he can't is not quite registering for him. Which I'm jumping

ahead here, but this leads to Bonclay like throwing himself in the way of

Lufy's gatling, which that's a hell of a hit. These days, Lufy'

has gotten so much stronger, you know, So when he throws himself in

the way, I was like, that's a real friend right there, because

he is just doing what he needs to do. He's already warned Loofy,

like he said to him, you can't touch him or you'll buy in as

basic language as you could say it in, and Lufy is just ignoring it.

And I kind of wanted to be like, Loofy, sir, you

made your friend get punched in the gut because you can't listen. Can you

just stop for a second. But it's sort of understandable that Lufy doesn't take

that quite as literally as he should, because that's a quite an intense concept

to just be like, oh, I am not allowed to lay a finger

on this person. That is their defense is that fighting the way I would

normally is what would kill me. That sucks. So anyway, I'm sorry

I'm jumping ahead, but let's back up a little bit. I love the

fact that Magellan once he like tunes in again and realizes how bad things have

gotten in the prison. The other guard who I want to call him Hannibal.

I know that his name isn't exactly Hannibal, but I'm just kind of

gonna go with that if that's cool. But yeah, that guy is wasting

no time blaming him for what's happening here. And Magellan tries to do the

whole like, oh, what are you saying? This is my fault?

Like he's challenging this narrative, and I love it. This guy is like,

yeah, like, that's literally exactly what I'm saying. I thought I

was very clear. Did you not get that? I mean, I could

say it in a different way if you need. And I was laughing a

little bit inside because we get a flashback of Magellan literally being told all of

this is going on, and then her just going, well, can't we
11:33
see the prisoner right now? And him just going of course right away and

immediately caving. And I was like, oh yeah, it doesn't get much

more literally responsible than something like that. And we also get a sort of
11:52
plan of attack here because Sadie is in the mix and she is wanting to

like the main thing that they have to figure out is where they're going to

concentrate their security forces and how they're going to organize this, because you know,

Lufy is trying to get down lower, but they also have other prisoners

who are trying to escape, and whether or not they they should spend more
12:22
time preventing escape than they do, like trying to keep Loofy from reaching his
12:28
brother, And what they end up doing is assigning most of their resources toward

keeping Loofy from reaching Ace, and they put a very minimal security on the
12:41
way out, which leads to a whole other thing later. Let's see Florian

says, well, he was not able to touch croc but the sand did
12:52
not hurt him by touching him. I think that is what I'm thinking of

Florian, was the fact that he couldn't even quite like land a hit,

which that's also pretty intimidating in its own way. I remember crocodile feeling really

scary to me. So anyway, this fucking thing with Sadie. You guys,

I can't get over her costume. I still am not. I'm not

used to the fact still that she basically just like moans wildly as she is

about to say literally anything, y'all, what are we doing? I mean,

this is so much like I just really that is so over the time,

you guys know, I am over the time, like this is that

is exactly my jam. And every time I think that I am this show

does something that I'm like, it would literally never occur to me to take

it this far. Like it's just they go so hard, I say,

they oda goes so hard, although I know that some things are not necessarily

like in the manga. Does she moan in the manga the way that she

does in the anime just out of curiosity because it is just like, it's

so it's so creepy. Anyway, This is when Magellan is asking, like,

who is stationed where, and she says Minotauris is on the prowl and

Minotaurus. I can't like the style of the animation here. What they do

is have all of the demons in sort of silhouette with just like red eyes,

which makes them look extremely intimidating, and then we get the reveal of

what they actually look like and it is so hilarious. You guys, this

like these creatures are so fucking goofy, after all this build up, after

all these like, oh my god, what's going on? It's just I

can't That's all I have to say about that. The Minotaurus, I don't

know why they have both like all of them with like running noses. This

is like such a thing in anime in general, is having running noses be

like a character design thing, which just I get squeaked out so much by

So that's just my personal thing. But Minotaur especially, it's just a really

underwhelming reveal when you have just had a like hulking shadow that's sort of faceless

with just the eyes that are so intimidating. To then pull back the curtain,

so to speak, and have men a Taurus revealed. What a letdown

I am. And this is not really meant to be like a criticism.

It's not I'm not mad about it. I don't dislike it. It's funny,

if anything, but it I think my issue is that it is unclear

to me how much it's supposed to be a joke. I think it is.

I'm pretty confident this is purposeful the way it's revealed, But there's usually

when there's a reveal of a character design that feels underwhelming, there's a sound

effect that's played that's like a boom and and a sort of rattle meant to

indicate like this was really disappointing. And they don't have that sound effect here,

which is what's making me kind of stop and go like is this something

that I am supposed to think is as funny as I do? Anyway,

So minotaurres turns out to actually be a pretty solid opponent, Like he is

extremely fast, way faster than he should be considering how big he is,

and Loofy has to kind of give it his all and they're still they're in

level three, so it's like really really hot, and it's taken kind of

a lot out of him to, you know, to get this fight to

the level it needs to be to take this dude down. And I just

really like love the fact that later on we find out Loofy just throws the

Minotauris and sends him flying, but he doesn't actually kill him. It's not

it's very explicitly said by Bonclay, Well, you gave him something to think

about, but he's not gone. And so we find out later that when

he threw him, literally, this guy like landed on Buggy and mister III

and they both have come running with this guy right behind them. Y'all.

That cracked me up so bad. I don't know why the we didn't even

get to see the moment, but just the idea of them thinking that they're

getting away and they've they're in the clear and then this giant creature landing on

them from a great height that is so good. But anyway, Yeah,

the two of them are like still trying to find their way out by the

way, while Loofy and Mister two. It turns out mister two had said

that he wanted to see somebody, and we find out who it is.

He says that it's the King of the Island. That uh coincidentally, Soanjy

because I love it so much. It's like the the whole I know that

this is supposed to be like a joke that is is disrespectful, but it's

hitting for me because what this is what the equivalent of this for me is

is when you like see a this is the future liberals want kind of meme

from boomers, and they actually have made a comic that I'm like, Wow,

you're right, that is the future I want. That looks rad like

they're trying to be like, oh, this is a cautionary but in fact,

what they're displaying is just like socialized medicine, you know, queer relationships

And that's kind of the vibe for me with Bonclay and the way he's

this very un ironically, it turns a corner and I wind up being like,

am very sincerely into what they're doing, even though I know it wasn't done

in a way that's meant to be kind. So Lufy says, there's somebody

that you wanted to see too, Who do you want to risk your life

for? And mister two says, I've heard that he's called the miracle Worker.

He's a true hero who deserves to be free, and his friends call

him Iva. He's the Queen of the Cambac Kingdom, the pink paradise of

the grand Line. He is the leader of the queer folk, the Queen

of all queens, and Lufy responds, the Queen of all queens sounds like

a pretty important guy. That's awesome. And can I just say I love

Lufy's being one ironically supportive of this venture. This is what I'm here for.

with the fucking minotauris right behind them, and we get a bit here that

is very funny, where Buggy is like, I think I have a weapon

blew up half the town with that really impressed you and scared the hell out

of all your friends, which of course I remember, and Lufy doesn't remember,

and I like, I know, Lufy isn't a liar. Lufy is

not the type of character who wants to bring somebody down a peg and so

lies that he doesn't remember something that is so not his energy. But I

do find it quite surprising that he doesn't, because the I mean, the

buggy ball made quite an impression on me at least, like that's it's branded

he's got, like it's a very specific the whole thing, you know.

Anyway, the bit goes on with like Buggy trying to remind him what it

is and being like, oh, I'm sure that you just blocked it from

your memory because you found it so traumatizing. All of it. It's just

very very good you guys, And in the end he just is like,

fine, whatever, I'm just gonna go ahead and use it. And what

he's using it turns out, is called the muggy ball, not the buggy

ball, which is a sort of I don't like he makes it sound also

here like he's only got the one, but we find out later that he

has another one, which they're in his shoe. I don't even understand how

that works, but it's fine. He uses it. He really fully thinks

clearly that he has done some irreparable damage to the minotaurus. So when this

thing just like gets up a little bit later, he is extremely upset about

it because he keeps thinking he's doing shit and it winds up not hitting literally

or figuratively the way that it should. And the episode that episode ends with

all of them coming together in order to take it down. And I love

that mister three is using his wax power and it like works in the moment

for this one instant because as he says to Lufy, it's gonna melt in

three seconds, and Lufy's like three seconds there is plenty of time to do

what I want to do. So basically Lufy like wraps his fist and wax

to increase the weight of it and punches this thing and it goes down down

like real hard and does not seem to be getting back up again. That's

the end of this guy for now, and that later on they're all like,

oh, this, like my power is the one that saved the day,

and they're each going through what their contribution was, and even mister three

starts to do it, but then he stops and he's like, actually,

I don't think my power did all that much. And I just fell out

laughing on that because he like he's in the spirit of it with everybody else

just being like no, no, no, I'm the best. And then

he just cuts himself off and is like, m I guess not really,

so let's see. Oh right, So we go back to uh Boa here

and she's talking to this dude whose name I keep forgetting, and he's explaining

the plan of how everything is supposed to go down and that Ace is safe

and that they're going to be transferring him in the morning, and she is

just trying to be cool, but she's freaking out about whether Lufy is okay

still. And when we go to the like tower here, this is the

well tower that they are in, is where you can drop down to level

four. The thing is loofy is like the he describes standing just standing on

the edge as being like standing on a frying pan. And I can't understand

how this is going to work. What Bonclay says is that if you drop

down from here and you land in the wrong place, you will die instantly.

That's how. And when they're looking down, it's all like steam basically

that's coming up. It is impossible to see. I'm sure once we get

into that part of the story, you know it'll suddenly be the visibility improves

because we have to for the story. But as I'm wanted, I found

myself getting so anxious. You guys, this really looked so like impossible to

me, And I like what I don't I don't feel like I even fully

understand. Like if this is the burning hell floor and you land the wrong

place and you die, what is it that they're even doing with the prisoners

down there? Like are they just is it just existing in that heat that's

alone supposed to be the torture, because it feels like that would be more

than enough, Like who works there? Does anybody actually work down on that

level? The whole thing just feels like I it's so when I was talking

earlier about how unpredictable the levels have been, this is the one that feels

the most unknown and therefore frightening to me, because it's truly it could be

like they set this up to look like anything, and I have no idea

how you fight against that. Saraphim says. The people on the island Oda

is legit in his support, it's just a mix of the anime overdoing it

with the sanjy stuff and Justin's cultural view differences in how certain portrayals are or

aren't insensitive. Uh, Saraphim says, Muggy Ball is like a portmanteau of

like cracking underneath them. And also, you guys, I hate looviy is

picking his nose, which they normally just have a character be picking their nose

to indicate that they're not fully focused, that they're kind of a slob whatever,

and they stop, and it's just a little moment for the audience here

Lovie's picking his nose and I'm just like mentally just willing it to stop because

I hate that so much. It's like the only thing worse than just snotty,

drippy noses. But then he pulls his finger out and looks and says,

wow, Wow, that's one big bloody booger I just picked. And

I just shriveled up and died. This is so here's my criticism of this

section, and it is not a criticism that is really meant to be taken

that seriously. This combined with the endless potty humor of Magellan, this was

really teetering on a little bit too much for me. Like, I have

a hard time with this super low brow humor. I can do. You

guys know, I make a lot of dick jokes on my show. I

will hint at things that are kind of gross and uncomfortable. But I'm not

out here with like a soundboard just playing fart sounds, I mean. And

part of this is also that Rashaan just hates the word for so much that

she won't say it. She calls it the F word. So I have

gotten in the habit of simply not doing that when I record with her,

which is led to me doing it almost never. But the whole thing with

Magellan, like, there are some jokes that I did even though it was

like toilet humor, I was still like, that's pretty good. For example,

the reveal that the throne he sits on is actually a toilet and that's
33:27
why it's like closed off. But uh, mostly I just found myself cringing

so hard every time that they were like, Okay, let's lean into this,

you know this joke about how he's taking a shit again, let's lean

into how loud his fart is. Right here. There was just a lot

of bits where I wanted I wanted it to stop so bad it was reminding

me of And I've probably mentioned this because it's my go to exit. The

first Austin Powers movie is one of the best of its kind, Like as

far as a spoof movie. It's so good. I the jokes, so

many of them hold up. There's a lot that is probably extremely problematic going

back and looking, but because it's spoofing material, that's incredibly problematic. I

let it get away with a lot in that respect. But when they decided

to introduce the character of fat Bastard, it all completely shit. The bed

pun intended to me because that character, the entire joke is how much he

eats and how much he shits, and it's so boring and it's not funny.

when I was, like, you know, beginning to develop my taste for

media, that this type of humor is a major turn off for me and

makes me instantly start to dislike a character and eventually a plot line. So

anyway, all this to say that it's such a weird thing how Magellan has

simultaneously got a truly scary power and then it's all undermined a moment later,

which is like part of the joke, right, especially in that one scene

where everybody thinks that he is about to unleash his you know, unimaginable power,

and then he just shuts the little thing again, and they're like,

what he's dumping again? But mostly I wouldn't mind if we just let this

die. Let's just call it quits on this. I don't get what we're

doing here anyway. So they're in the mid of like arguing whether or not

they're gonna go down there and wondering about the sound and the rushing sensation before

they realize, oh my god, wait, we're falling and they have gone

down to the fourth level. And I love this is when they're all like,

oh, I must have done so much damage with my attacks, blah

blah blah. When they get down there, it's so hot that they're like

dancing in place. And the thing that's a little bit confusing for me is

how it's sort of inconsistent whether or not it's hot enough to actually injure them.

Like sometimes they behave as if it is, and then it'll like,

you know, because the script needs them to just be able to do the

next thing, all of a sudden it's forgotten and it seems like it's no

problem for right now, which is fine. It is like that there's sort

of no way around that to a degree. But yeah, so this whole
