- 0:43- Here is today's prayer.
- 0:50- Hello, and welcome to today's daily prayer.
- 0:54- Today, we're talking about
- 0:57- why it's so hard for us to slow
- 0:59- down. And
- 1:00- the scriptural base that I wanna pull from
- 1:03- today comes from Psalms forty six and ten
- 1:05- and says, be still and know that I
- 1:07- am God.
- 1:09- You know,
- 1:11- I think we would all agree
- 1:13- that life
- 1:14- has,
- 1:15- as the years go by, gotten
- 1:18- a whole lot busier.
- 1:20- You know, I often say that
- 1:22- if you
- 1:24- want to increase your workload and go fast
- 1:27- with life,
- 1:29- get married because that'll give you some responsibility.
- 1:32- And then if you wanna go faster,
- 1:36- have some children because
- 1:37- tending to their needs
- 1:39- will make the time go by real fast.
- 1:42- Right?
- 1:43- And so while we're trying to tackle
- 1:45- this thing called life,
- 1:48- it can come with a lot
- 1:50- of
- 1:53- movement.
- 1:54- And and the idea of sitting still is
- 1:57- not always,
- 2:00- maybe conducive or makes sense to us when
- 2:03- we're trying to to complete all of the
- 2:05- daily tasks.
- 2:07- And so consequently,
- 2:09- we fill every moment with noise, whether it's
- 2:12- music or, you know, listening to something, scrolling,
- 2:16- or whatever the distraction is.
- 2:19- Stillness
- 2:19- feels uncomfortable
- 2:21- because we've forgotten how to simply be with
- 2:23- God.
- 2:24- And
- 2:26- I wanna say that it can be really
- 2:28- challenging
- 2:29- because
- 2:31- in an earlier,
- 2:32- prayer episode, we talked about how
- 2:35- the prophet Elijah,
- 2:36- he was emotionally and spiritually tapped out, and
- 2:40- God gave him an earthquake
- 2:42- and fire.
- 2:43- And yet it wasn't in either of these
- 2:45- things
- 2:47- that God
- 2:48- spoke where Elijah could hear him, but in
- 2:51- the still
- 2:52- quiet
- 2:52- voice.
- 2:54- And the key here to remember is is
- 2:57- that
- 2:57- life is going to
- 3:00- raise
- 3:01- your volume.
- 3:02- The volume of life is is going to
- 3:04- increase. And so in order for us to
- 3:07- survive
- 3:08- and and and and work through it
- 3:11- successfully,
- 3:13- we have to be intentional about turning it
- 3:16- down
- 3:17- and
- 3:18- focusing
- 3:19- on being quiet
- 3:20- before God.
- 3:22- And when we do,
- 3:25- not only will he
- 3:27- reinforce
- 3:28- our peace,
- 3:29- build our trust,
- 3:31- but we'll be able to feel his heart
- 3:34- and know what his plan is
- 3:36- and have the comfort that we need to
- 3:39- be able to deal with whatever it is
- 3:41- we're facing.
- 3:42- That being said, let's pray together.
- 3:45- Heavenly father, teach us to slow down.
- 3:49- Help us
- 3:50- resist the urge to constantly stay busy or
- 3:53- distracted.
- 3:55- Let stillness become a place of intimacy instead
- 3:58- of discomfort.
- 4:00- Quiet our racing thoughts and help us to
- 4:02- rest in your presence.
- 4:04- Remind us that we don't have to earn
- 4:06- your love
- 4:07- because you are love.
- 4:09- We just simply need to remain close to
- 4:12- you.
- 4:14- In Jesus' name, amen.
- 4:17- If this was encouraging to you,
- 4:20- follow for tomorrow's prayers.
