- 0:02Welcome to another edition of the Rancher Radio Podcast.
- 0:05My name is Jim Watkins. I'm a long time reader and
- 0:09student of the 5th epical Revelation, and I love talking
- 0:13about it. There's so much to delve into in
- 0:15this super terrific philosophical religious texts
- 0:19and I appreciate you stopping by.
- 0:22And today we're going to be talking about the phenomena of
- 0:25death as it is outlined in Paper 112 of the Urantia Book.
- 0:30So that should be very interesting.
- 0:32Plus some anecdotes on current events and some new projects.
- 0:36All exciting stuff right here on the Urantia Radio Podcast.
- 1:12Welcome to another edition of the Urantia Radio podcast.
- 1:15It's good to have you here and you are enjoying the music of
- 1:19David Dinger and he has a great selection of music.
- 1:25David R Dinger, to be specific, from Norfolk, VA, long time
- 1:31student of the Urantia book as well.
- 1:34And I consider him a friend. We've talked a few times.
- 1:38We talked a lot about what's going on in the world.
- 1:40Boy, it's in fact all of my Urantia friends.
- 1:46We all are gravely concerned about what's happening in the
- 1:49world today. And there's a lot, there's a big
- 1:54battle, I think, going on from historical terms between and I'm
- 1:58sure that our unseen friends take note that there is a real
- 2:03ideological struggle going on between Islam and Christianity.
- 2:08Now my simple observation, or a passing observation for me is
- 2:13that Christianity in the West has lost its savour.
- 2:21Maybe not among Christians. Christianity seems to be making
- 2:25a comeback because I think the new generation has seen what a
- 2:30world without Christianity looks like and they don't like it too
- 2:33much. On the other hand, the fervor of
- 2:38Islamic faith is that they've got a global intifada underway,
- 2:45according to their religious leaders, at least the Shias.
- 2:48And so we don't know the unpredictability of that, But we
- 2:51do see from a anthropological scale how the migration has
- 2:57occurred. Now, you know, the Urantia book
- 2:59speaks a lot to how the different races and cultures
- 3:03have migrated since the beginning of time.
- 3:06And we're definitely seeing a migration shift.
- 3:11Is it particularly in Europe, Western Europe?
- 3:14And it's having an effect, a cultural effect.
- 3:16Look what's happening in England.
- 3:18And it's almost like it's filling in a vacuum.
- 3:20I'm just making an observation that when Christianity retreats
- 3:25and then you have this other more aggressive religion such as
- 3:29Islam, it's naturally going to fill that void.
- 3:33And if it wasn't for the incessant wars, much of them
- 3:36being propped up these days by forces that we can only imagine
- 3:41you've we forget that many of these migrants are leaving the
- 3:45Middle East because of war. Look at Syria a few years back,
- 3:50look at Gaza. I mean, those people have to go
- 3:52somewhere. And I think that sort of is the
- 3:56prelude to what we're it's not just all of a sudden we had a
- 3:59migrant problem. There were forces that created
- 4:02that migration. And it's definitely having an
- 4:06effect. But there's also a lot of anger
- 4:10in the world More day more now than before because of social
- 4:13media. I am convinced that
- 4:16sociologically it was probably too much for people to handle.
- 4:20We're essentially reading each other's minds at this point
- 4:25because everybody's online expressing their opinions about
- 4:28a a million different things. So that's unsettling to the
- 4:32human condition. It's it's like an episode of the
- 4:35Twilight Zone, right? All of a sudden, every, you can
- 4:38hear everybody's thoughts. And sometimes those thoughts,
- 4:42not only are they fleeting and temperamental, but they're also
- 4:45very harming. I hate to say that I don't want
- 4:48to sound like Big Brother or anything, but do we really all
- 4:51need to be on social media all the time telling everybody
- 4:54exactly how we feel? Because again, feelings change.
- 4:59What you think today or what you thought today can be changed
- 5:02with new data, new facts. But in the meantime, you're on
- 5:06record is stating a position. So that's one of the reasons I
- 5:12stay away from Facebook. I I've never liked Facebook.
- 5:16To me, Facebook was like peering into somebody's home when
- 5:19they're not looking. And I don't want to know that
- 5:23much. I mean, TMI, too much
- 5:24information, right? Secularism also has been a main
- 5:29concern of mine just because without the absence of of God,
- 5:34which the Urantia book asserts a million times, it's a good idea.
- 5:39They say that you think you can live without God, but at the end
- 5:42of the day, without God, nothing else really holds itself
- 5:46together. God is the cohesive cosmic glue
- 5:50and it's the it's the purpose. It's the purpose for everything.
- 5:55You know, I often explain the Urantia books interpretation of
- 5:59deity in a very simple way. At at some point, some
- 6:04philosophical point of time, God made the decision that he, it
- 6:09was not enough to be an existential deity of perfection.
- 6:14It wasn't enough. It had to be experiential.
- 6:18Everything has to be experienced.
- 6:20And so the Supreme Being emerges from that experiential God of
- 6:26experience with the existential God of perfection.
- 6:30And, and we all get to participate in that, if we
- 6:33choose to participate in it. That's what the point of the
- 6:36spirit fragment is in his image points to that fragment spirit
- 6:42which the Urantia book calls the thought Adjuster.
- 6:46And the thought adjuster is that part of God that resides in
- 6:49every human mind correction, every normal human mind.
- 6:55And it gets us from here to there, you know, and the
- 6:59challenge for a lot of people when they talk about the
- 7:01afterlife, which is very heavy subject to begin with, is that
- 7:07no one really knows for sure what happens.
- 7:10We think we know what happens. We hope we know what happens.
- 7:14Many of us don't even believe it's possible that there could
- 7:17be some sort of people are more inclined to believe more in
- 7:21reincarnation than resurrection. And, and a lot of people discard
- 7:29the whole notion as being nothing more than a myth.
- 7:32And that's what we're going to kind of talk about here today in
- 7:36the phenomena of death in the Urantia book, it's Paper 112.
- 7:40And they're kind of giving us some insight as to what
- 7:44constitutes personality. That personality is, is the
- 7:50Organism reacting to its environment.
- 7:53That's what constitutes living. We are we are organisms and we
- 7:58are reacting to the external stimuli as we move through space
- 8:02and time. But the one unchanging
- 8:06underlying principle is the personality, the cohesive person
- 8:11personality that we all possess. We are all each individual
- 8:16unique, non totalable personalities.
- 8:20We are only and from God's perspective, we are only in this
- 8:25relationship from a qualitative standpoint because he is a
- 8:28personality. And so in the phenomena of
- 8:33death, it, it covers a lot of areas.
- 8:35So I want to delve right into it because it is important,
- 8:38especially within the context of how people feel today.
- 8:42People do feel lonelier than they've ever been.
- 8:44According to all the statistics, mental illness is is rising.
- 8:49It's off the charts, there's no question about that.
- 8:52We've talked about that. So maybe this will give us some
- 8:56insight as to how we can tackle some of these issues both
- 9:00personally and collectively. So let's examine what the
- 9:04phenomena of death really is. And in we'll pick up from
- 9:09Section 3 the phenomenon of death.
- 9:13It says your answers generally recognize only one kind of
- 9:16death, the physical cessation of life energies.
- 9:19But concerning personality survival, there are really three
- 9:22kinds. Number one is spiritual, the
- 9:25soul death. If and when mortal man has
- 9:28finally rejected survival, when he has been pronounced
- 9:31spiritually insolvent, morantually bankrupt in the
- 9:35conjoint opinion of the adjuster and the surviving Seraphim, When
- 9:39such coordinate advice has been recorded on Universa, and after
- 9:43the sensors and the reflective associates have verified these
- 9:46findings. Thereupon do the rulers of
- 9:49Orvington order the immediate release of the indwelling
- 9:53monitor the fragment. But this release of the adjuster
- 9:57in no way affects the duties of the personal or group seraphim
- 10:01concerned with that ingestor abandoned individual.
- 10:05So even after the spirit fragment has left that mortal,
- 10:09the, the, the group Seraphim, they were concerned with his or
- 10:13her livelihood is still there. The the human doesn't get
- 10:19abandoned. But this kind of death, it says,
- 10:22is final in its significance. Irrespective of the temporary
- 10:25continuation of the living energies of the physical and
- 10:29mind mechanisms. From the cosmic standpoint, the
- 10:32mortal is already dead. The continuing life merely
- 10:36indicates the persistence of the material momentum of cosmic
- 10:40energies. So I'll ask you a very
- 10:42challenging and important question.
- 10:45Do you know someone who was already spiritually dead?
- 10:50Do you know someone in your life?
- 10:52I know a lot of atheists in my life.
- 10:54Some of them, I think they're just ignorant.
- 10:56Especially young people, a young atheist, there's no way that a a
- 10:59young person can make any evaluation during that early
- 11:04state of thinking and thought process.
- 11:08It's sometimes it's just easier to not to deny because it feels
- 11:12liberating. But the older people, the people
- 11:15who who don't believe in God and they're actually antagonistic
- 11:19against religion. I sometimes wonder if if many of
- 11:23these people are actually already dead, at least
- 11:25spiritually. And, and I know that, you know,
- 11:30people that are absolutely antagonistic towards
- 11:34Christianity, towards faith. Bill Maher might be a good
- 11:38example of that. Certainly some of these
- 11:41atheists, what is it, Hutchins? Others like that, that they're
- 11:47so absolute in their fervor that there is no afterlife.
- 11:51I wondered, are they constitutionally have the
- 11:55Orvington rulers ruled on them yet, or did they give them the
- 11:59chance of their life until their last breath?
- 12:03So the second kind of death is intellectual death, and it
- 12:06describes it as follows. When the vital circuits of
- 12:09higher adjutant ministry are disrupted through the
- 12:11aberrations of intellect or because of the partial
- 12:15destruction of the mechanism of the brain, and if these
- 12:18conditions pass a certain critical point of
- 12:21irreparability, the indwelling adjuster is immediately released
- 12:25to depart. For Divinnington on the Universe
- 12:29Records, a mortal personality is considered to have met with
- 12:32death whenever the essential mind circuits of human will
- 12:36action have been destroyed. And again, this is death
- 12:40irrespective of the continuing function of of the living
- 12:44mechanism of the physical body. The body minus the volitional
- 12:49mind is no longer human, but according to the prior choosing
- 12:53of the human will, the soul of such an individual may survive.
- 12:59So we can think of all kinds of examples, people with
- 13:02Alzheimer's, advanced stage dementia or Alzheimer's, people
- 13:05who are who get into an accident, some sort of physical
- 13:10accident where they injure their brain, people who are on life
- 13:14support perhaps. So those are just varying
- 13:16degrees of people that have met with intellectual death.
- 13:20Although you could argue that intellectual death also has to
- 13:23do with when a personality no longer has what they call will
- 13:28to action. And that might be somebody
- 13:32defined as either very sub intelligent living in the worst
- 13:38possible of circumstances, or perhaps they're so outright evil
- 13:42that they don't even have control over their own actions
- 13:45anymore and they're just simply driven by animal instinct.
- 13:49So I think that could qualify as someone who has died
- 13:53intellectually. And then there's three, which is
- 13:56the most common, the body and mind.
- 13:58Death, it writes. When death overtakes a human
- 14:00being. The adjuster remains in the
- 14:03citadel of the mind until it ceases to function as an
- 14:07intellectual, intelligent mechanism, about the time that
- 14:11the measurable brain energies cease their rhythmic vital
- 14:15pulsations. Following this disillusion, the
- 14:19adjuster takes leave of the vanishing mind just as
- 14:22unceremoniously as entry was made years before.
- 14:27And this adjuster, the spirit fragment proceeds to
- 14:31Divinnington by way of U versa, Divinington.
- 14:36Where is Divinington? Is it?
- 14:40Is it in the Havona? Well, maybe we could look that
- 14:45up. But Divinington is where the
- 14:48fragments of the of the spirit of the Father reside.
- 14:53That is their home until their partner, their sole partner is
- 14:59resurrected on the Marancha or resurrection worlds, the mansion
- 15:03worlds. And it's at that point that the
- 15:06adjuster is reunited with its partner, its personality
- 15:13partner, and the the ascendant journey continues on.
- 15:18And that would be the explanation of how the soul
- 15:22survives physical death. It concludes after the death of
- 15:27material body, returns to the elemental world from which it
- 15:31was derived from dust to dust, right, But two non material
- 15:36factors of surviving personality persist.
- 15:40The pre existent thought Adjuster, with the memory
- 15:43transcriptions of the mortal career, proceeds to Divinington,
- 15:48and there also remains in the custody of the Destiny Guardian
- 15:53the immortal Morontia soul of the deceased human.
- 15:57These phases and forms of soul, these once kinetic but now
- 16:02static formulas of identity, are essential to re personalization
- 16:08on the Marancha worlds, and it is the reunion of the Adjuster
- 16:12and the soul that reassembles the surviving personality that
- 16:17re conscious sizes you at the time of the Marancha awakening.
- 16:23For those who do not have personal seraphic guardians, the
- 16:27group custodians faithfully and efficiently perform the same
- 16:31service of identity safekeeping and personality resurrection.
- 16:37The seraphim are indispensable to the reassembly of the
- 16:41personality upon death. The thought of gesture
- 16:45temporarily loses personality but not identity.
- 16:48The human subject temporarily loses identity, but not
- 16:52personality on the mansion worlds.
- 16:54Both reunite in eternal manifestation.
- 16:59Never does a departed thought adjuster return to Earth as the
- 17:03being of former indwelling. Never is personality manifested
- 17:07without the human will, and never does a disadjusted human
- 17:12being after death manifest active identity or in any manner
- 17:18to establish communication with the living beings of Earth.
- 17:22Such a disadjusted souls or such disadjusted souls are wholly and
- 17:27absolutely unconscious during the long or short sleep of
- 17:31death. There can be no exhibition of
- 17:36any sort of personality or ability to engage in
- 17:40communications with other other personalities until after
- 17:44completion of survival. Those who go to the mansion
- 17:48worlds are never permitted to send messages back to their
- 17:52loved ones. It is the policy throughout the
- 17:55universes to forbid such communications during the period
- 18:00of a current dispensation. Now I'm reminded by Byron
- 18:06Belezza's book. I believe it's the the book he
- 18:10wrote about the soul and he refers to a lot of near death
- 18:15experiences, Ndas, and there's some great observations that he
- 18:19makes. And I'm wondering if perhaps
- 18:21when certain humans, when they have that near death experience,
- 18:26they haven't died and that their body is still functioning and
- 18:30their thought adjuster hasn't left their body.
- 18:33And it might be the reflectivity of the thought adjuster who's
- 18:37more easily communicating with its parent or subject host to
- 18:44communicate glimpses of the, the mansion life or the Marancha
- 18:48life. So that's worth a, a real good
- 18:50discussion. But wow, so much is displayed.
- 18:54I mean, this, this one paper explains the whole process of
- 18:57what happens when you die and the different kinds of death,
- 19:01which is something that a lot of religious texts do not touch.
- 19:06And I, and I, and I also like the fact that this, this section
- 19:09or this paper clarifies that we don't talk to ghosts.
- 19:14This one of the reasons why the Urantia book has the credibility
- 19:18it has because it, it definitively explains the
- 19:22process of dying, but it also affirms that transactional
- 19:27communications of a sort between previously lived human beings
- 19:31can somehow communicate, you know, and through seances or
- 19:35channeling. And this book says, no, that's
- 19:37not, that's not allowed. So I think that's an interesting
- 19:42aspect of this book. So that's this paper 112.
- 19:46And it's, it's a pretty, pretty good read, I would say.
- 19:50And I think we should leave it there.
- 19:52I I do want to, as we play a little bit more music here with
- 19:57my good friend David Dinger. I do we have it.
- 20:01Are we going to play it? Yeah, Let's let's go out with
- 20:05this. I've taken some liberties here
- 20:08and I'm, I may put this up on the podcast.
- 20:10So you might want to have to check back on this.
- 20:13But I've taken the shroud of turn images of Christ just to
- 20:17show what technology allows us to do now.
- 20:21And I've taken the image from the shroud of turn that was
- 20:23digitized back around, I don't know, 2015 or something.
- 20:26And I've created a, a, a photograph through artificial
- 20:30intelligence. And it looks, if it's not
- 20:34Jesus's face, it sure looks like someone who would look like
- 20:37Jesus, if that makes any sense. And I, and I'm taking the
- 20:42liberty of taking certain phrases out of the Arantia book,
- 20:47some of them that are also recognizable as being part of
- 20:52like scripture and, and turning them into these two-minute
- 20:57pieces where it actually looks as if Jesus is speaking his own
- 21:00words. And I'm, I'm hoping that that
- 21:02could be something that could go viral because I think right now
- 21:06the message of Jesus is really important.
- 21:08Don't you? I mean, right now the, the West
- 21:12needs a, a booster shot of, you know, Jesus's teachings.
- 21:17And, and there's so many great ones.
- 21:20And I think we certainly me could do a better job of getting
- 21:24those teachings out there and technology can aid us in that.
- 21:28And I, and I think that's, that's a good thing.
- 21:31So be on the lookout for some of these Jesus things on getter and
- 21:36Instagram. It's pretty remarkable one
- 21:40there's I have to watch it 10 times and it just blows me away.
- 21:43But we'll continue on and we're hoping to get a guest on next
- 21:48week who is going to talk about Urantiopaedia.
- 21:52And I've talked about that a little bit.
- 21:53It's a great website. It's inspired by Dwayne Fogg's
- 21:57perrimony. We'll talk about that in the
- 21:58next edition of the Urantia Radio Podcast.
- 22:03And of course, if you want to reach out to me
- 22:05urantiabookradio@gmail.com. Thank you again and God bless.
