We'll practice the same phrases from before, but today we'll do more repetition and a little scene. First up: 'Jag skulle vilja ha en semla.' That means 'I would like to have a semla.' Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha en semla. Lucas: Yes! Notice the 'skulle vilja ha' — it's polite. Now, if you want one with almond paste, you ask: 'Har ni någon med mandelmassa?' Luna: Har ni någon med mandelmassa? So 'mandelmassa' is almond paste. Lucas: Exactly. And you can answer: 'Jag tar en semla, tack.' Means 'I'll take a semla, thanks.' Luna: Jag tar en semla, tack. Lucas: Then to ask the price: 'Hur mycket kostar en semla?' Luna: Hur mycket kostar en semla? Let me guess — 'how much does a semla cost?' Lucas: You got it. And after you've eaten it, you say: 'Tack, det var gott.' — 'Thanks, that was good.' Luna: Tack, det var gott. Alright, let's put it together. I walk into a bakery, and I say: 'Jag skulle vilja ha en semla.' Lucas: The baker asks: 'Har ni någon med mandelmassa?' Luna: Wait, I think the baker would ask me that. So I say: 'Ja, tack. Jag tar en semla, tack.' Lucas: Then you ask: 'Hur mycket kostar en semla?' Luna: They say thirty kronor. I pay, eat, and say: 'Tack, det var gott.' Lucas: Nailed it. Let's do it once more, but I'll be the baker. You come in. Luna: Okay. 'Jag skulle vilja ha en semla.' Lucas: 'Har ni någon med mandelmassa?' Luna: 'Ja, tack. Jag tar en semla, tack.' Lucas: 'Det blir trettio kronor.' Luna: 'Hur mycket kostar en semla?' Oh wait, you just told me. So I'd say 'Tack, det var gott' after eating. Lucas: Exactly. You're getting it. Now you can confidently order a semla in Swedish. Luna: Tack, Lucas. Det var gott — I mean, the lesson was good. Lucas: Glad to hear it.
