- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:25Speaker 2: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:30Speaker 2: We are back with our ninth installment of The Way
- 0:32Speaker 2: Home Listener Mailbag in advance of tomorrow's season finale, and
- 0:38Speaker 2: y'all buckle up because this episode is a doozy.
- 0:42Speaker 1: You brought it like you have never brought it before.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Quick reminder if you want to send in thoughts, We
- 0:49Speaker 2: will be doing one final listener mailbag for The Way
- 0:52Speaker 2: Home next week after the finale. Email us Girls Gone
- 0:57Speaker 2: Hallmark at gmail dot com. The listener mail bags continue
- 1:01Speaker 2: in another form after that.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I believe the answer is yes, I'd love to. Yeah.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So what we want from you is as listeners.
- 1:12Speaker 2: The Way Home maybe ending, but our coverage of homework
- 1:15Speaker 2: movies is not. So feel free to email us. Your
- 1:18Speaker 2: thoughts on movies were reviewing. Maybe your thoughts on movies
- 1:21Speaker 2: were not.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Yeah, thoughts on our reviews. Feel free to disagree with
- 1:26Speaker 1: us chime in thoughts on Hallmark in general.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yeah, let's just start the conversation. Keep it coming, Girls
- 1:33Speaker 2: Gone Hallmark at gmail dot com. We are going to
- 1:37Speaker 2: start with reviewing some YouTube comments.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Our first comment is from XO Abby nineteen and they
- 1:46Speaker 1: say there was a promo photo released of adult Colton
- 1:50Speaker 1: and teen Cat in the steps of the farmhouse in
- 1:53Speaker 1: nineteen ninety nine, and Colton seems to be holding a metal,
- 1:56Speaker 1: gold piece of something. I think that whatever this piece
- 2:01Speaker 1: is is what Elliott finds in the bottom of the
- 2:04Speaker 1: clock in episode nine, and this is the key to
- 2:08Speaker 1: future time travel, given that it has been mentioned a
- 2:11Speaker 1: lot more recently, and this could be from something that
- 2:14Speaker 1: Colton and Jacob were tinkering with, but Jacob doesn't remember.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I am pulling up the promo photos as available.
- 2:25Speaker 1: For episode ten. It must be for episode ten, right,
- 2:29Speaker 1: mm hmm steps of the farmhouse, steps of the farm. Oh,
- 2:33Speaker 1: while you're pulling that up, I wonder where XO Abbey
- 2:37Speaker 1: nineteen saw this promo photo, because, as you and I know,
- 2:42Speaker 1: we have access to the Hallmark Press site. Yeah, but
- 2:46Speaker 1: I think Hallmark often releases these promo photos on their Instagram.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I agree, But sometimes I see on Reddit and in
- 2:55Speaker 1: other like Big the Way Home groups photo shared that
- 3:01Speaker 1: I know or not out that shouldn't be shared yet. Yeah,
- 3:05Speaker 1: and I am wondering, like, who's doing that. Yeah, don't
- 3:09Speaker 1: do that. Don't spoil it for the people anyway, because
- 3:12Speaker 1: obviously started to like lock down some of the press
- 3:15Speaker 1: access as a result of that. Maybe hotel is not
- 3:18Speaker 1: on the Hallmark channel Instagram. Oh interesting the photo I
- 3:22Speaker 1: just zoomed in Colton is holding it looks like a keychain.
- 3:26Speaker 1: In fact, it is a keychain. It's hard to tell
- 3:29Speaker 1: what's on it.
- 3:30Speaker 2: You could just see the keychain and then some sort
- 3:32Speaker 2: of maybe metal or it looks like metal. It honestly
- 3:37Speaker 2: could just be keys. It doesn't look exactly like that
- 3:43Speaker 2: item that Elliott found on the clock, that goal that
- 3:46Speaker 2: long piece of metal. Yeah, the tool that we could
- 3:49Speaker 2: not identify. H But that doesn't mean that that's not
- 3:54Speaker 2: going to play in somehow.
- 3:55Speaker 1: To the clock repair in the future. I'm really hoping,
- 4:00Speaker 1: really hoping that there's going to be some future time
- 4:04Speaker 1: travel we do. And I'm really hoping that this the
- 4:08Speaker 1: whole this whole clock stuff isn't just some like distraction. Yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 1: but there's there's there's a lot of comments on actually
- 4:17Speaker 1: the clock.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Okay, Nate and Heather said, I love how Dell pulled
- 4:21Speaker 2: up at the vineyard and was like, Jacob, put the
- 4:23Speaker 2: bier down and get your butt in the truck.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And he did it. Yes, She finally like used her
- 4:27Speaker 1: mom voice with him. Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 2: No, it is kind of funny that he just obeys
- 4:31Speaker 2: and drives off, drives off.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it is, it is funny. I mean, god, dude,
- 4:37Speaker 1: you're making such a terrible decision. Really's hero writes on YouTube.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I can't take credit for this, but heard on another
- 4:47Speaker 1: podcast at the person that could be sending the letters
- 4:51Speaker 1: is the man that sold the Herald back in season
- 4:55Speaker 1: two Byron. Byron he was going to Mora, Morocco. Let
- 5:02Speaker 1: me just pause there, Morocco. I do remember going to
- 5:06Speaker 1: an even mentioning Morocco this season two on a Morocco talk. Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I wonder if that's purposeful. I don't know. Perhaps he
- 5:15Speaker 1: and Evelyn got close, okay, and shared shared stories with him.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Remember she willed all the files to Catherine and had
- 5:25Speaker 1: her portrait hanging in Lingermore. Who else would have access
- 5:29Speaker 1: to an old typewriter.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I mean, let's keep in mind that Evelyn was planning
- 5:34Speaker 2: to go to Morocco in nineteen seventy four, and Byron
- 5:38Speaker 2: was going there in twenty twenty three, so whether or
- 5:41Speaker 2: not Evelyn would still be there.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Was Evelyn dead in twenty twenty three. I don't remember
- 5:48Speaker 1: when Evelyn died, pretty darn close, I'm sure I think
- 5:52Speaker 1: she was in her Lingermore recluse face. Yeah. User sylvest
- 5:56Speaker 1: Glenn says.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Regarding the clock, on the Reddit the Way home page,
- 5:59Speaker 2: someone found the clock and posted pictures. I think it's
- 6:02Speaker 2: German from the mid eighteen hundreds and has this weird
- 6:06Speaker 2: wire configuration at the top. Some people on Reddit were
- 6:09Speaker 2: positing that the girl at Coyle's who talks to Alice
- 6:13Speaker 2: might be Elliott's mom since she's reading TS Elliott.
- 6:19Speaker 1: After we recorded last week's podcast, I remember I was
- 6:23Speaker 1: thinking because I was like, who's this random chick? Yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 1: you know, nothing's random on this show. So I would
- 6:30Speaker 1: be interested to see if that plays out this season
- 6:34Speaker 1: or next. Use your fig racula one love to comment
- 6:40Speaker 1: on YouTube. The parts with the clock are for a
- 6:43Speaker 1: flying pendulum that goes on the top of the clock.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Maybe when the clock is fixed, time travel will be
- 6:52Speaker 1: fixed and people can travel forward or backwards in time,
- 6:56Speaker 1: or they can go and correct things that happened in
- 6:59Speaker 1: the past, like save Colton and Rick. Can I just
- 7:03Speaker 1: say two comments back to back about clocks. I'm kind
- 7:08Speaker 1: of surprised so much so many clock experts weigh in. Yeah,
- 7:13Speaker 1: there's a lot of clock comments.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I'm impressed with the clock knowledge in the Way Home community.
- 7:19Speaker 1: That's it. I'm going to title this episode clock Knowledge.
- 7:22Speaker 1: So look, I love Colton, I love adult Colton, I
- 7:27Speaker 1: love Jefferson Brown. I love Colton so much, and I
- 7:32Speaker 1: don't think that saving Coulton should be our goal. Oh why?
- 7:37Speaker 2: Because I think there are tales from the past that
- 7:42Speaker 2: teach us that trying to undo deaths like that, there's
- 7:47Speaker 2: some other ripple effect. Unfortunately, bad things happen, and I
- 7:52Speaker 2: think the better thing here is understanding why it happened,
- 7:57Speaker 2: Understanding for Dell, maybe understanding why Colton may or may
- 8:01Speaker 2: not have shared things with her, Getting closure unders yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 2: the first things. But to understand, to be ever, to
- 8:09Speaker 2: be better able to live with the events of what.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that's really good.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I think I think should be the goal here. As
- 8:14Speaker 2: much as I love Colton, like we didn't really get
- 8:17Speaker 2: to know Rick. It's tragic that this teenager died, but
- 8:21Speaker 2: I think undoing deaths, in my personal opinion, as much
- 8:26Speaker 2: as I could understand that being the motivation of their
- 8:28Speaker 2: family members and their close friends.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I don't I don't think that should be our ultimate
- 8:32Speaker 1: goal here. I hear you and I especially because the
- 8:37Speaker 1: writers have done such a good job of continuing to
- 8:39Speaker 1: include j Jefferson Brown. We get him on camera so much.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I just love it so much. I love this actor
- 8:46Speaker 1: so much more. Please be more Homewark Movies. Michelle Cassida
- 8:52Speaker 1: five three five two said it.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Looked like Elliott was about to say mom when he
- 8:56Speaker 2: saw her, which I said in our episode, and more
- 8:59Speaker 2: than one person message to say the same thing. Shan
- 9:03Speaker 2: says also on YouTube. I'm thinking maybe somehow Susanna is
- 9:07Speaker 2: going to end up being Elliot's mom. I know it
- 9:09Speaker 2: sounds crazy, but I really think he got his five
- 9:12Speaker 2: minutes with his mom.
- 9:14Speaker 1: What do you think? Well in that moment when he
- 9:19Speaker 1: walked up to her, I thought it was going to
- 9:20Speaker 1: be more significant as we discussed in the episode. I'm
- 9:25Speaker 1: willing to buy that it was simply that this was
- 9:29Speaker 1: a family member that he could be proud of if
- 9:33Speaker 1: he was meeting, and that was significant enough for him.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Piggybacking on Elliott's mom, Nate and Heather Right, the girl
- 9:43Speaker 1: that quoted ts Eliott to Alice seemed like a weird
- 9:47Speaker 1: ad to the scene. I agree, I think that could
- 9:50Speaker 1: be Alice's daughter. She was definitely trying to encourage Alice
- 9:53Speaker 1: to follow her dreams, and she seemed like she could
- 9:56Speaker 1: be out of time. I still don't think that case
- 9:59Speaker 1: is Alice kid. Yeah, that was a definite or moment
- 10:05Speaker 1: for me. When that girl turns around. As mentioned in
- 10:09Speaker 1: that previous comment, she is kind of the right age
- 10:12Speaker 1: for her and Vic to be around the same age
- 10:15Speaker 1: in nineteen seventy four, So yeah, she did kind of
- 10:19Speaker 1: seem a little bit, maybe younger than teen teen Alice
- 10:24Speaker 1: and Evelyn when she turns around. Yeah, so the comment
- 10:28Speaker 1: above that suggests that maybe she's Elliott's mom a released
- 10:33Speaker 1: hero comments.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Kat and Thomas were never meant to be. Kat and
- 10:36Speaker 2: Elliott's relationship needed to be tested to make good television.
- 10:40Speaker 2: This is why they brought Emma back. It's a typical
- 10:42Speaker 2: homework storyline. There's always a conflict in the middle, and
- 10:44Speaker 2: then they realized that the person is the one for them.
- 10:47Speaker 2: That's all Thomas a test to their relationship. Even though
- 10:51Speaker 2: they had amazing on screen chemistry. So going into the finale,
- 10:57Speaker 2: it did really feel to me like they put a
- 11:00Speaker 2: button on the Thomas relationship in the last episode.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Where are you with that? I agree with you. I
- 11:06Speaker 1: don't think I'm happy about it, but I agree with you.
- 11:10Speaker 1: It just seemed like with Kat and Thomas having their
- 11:14Speaker 1: like big kind of final conversation, not through return, but
- 11:20Speaker 1: Elliott showing up in eighteen whatever and then playing his
- 11:23Speaker 1: girl and then they're a little like bro nod. Yeah,
- 11:27Speaker 1: I think that's the end of it, which kind of
- 11:28Speaker 1: BOMs me out, Like, give me a spinoff with Thomas maybe, Yeah,
- 11:33Speaker 1: I would love that. I just love the actor, I
- 11:37Speaker 1: love the character. He's a fun watch for me, So
- 11:41Speaker 1: that's why I like, give me the spinoff. When he
- 11:43Speaker 1: goes to New York. I want to see him establish
- 11:45Speaker 1: his life there. They won't. Somebody writes some fan fiction
- 11:49Speaker 1: please Thomas and Jasper. What's the deal there? Yeah? This
- 11:54Speaker 1: username is funny to me. It's probably like just an
- 11:57Speaker 1: automated user GS seven fpce M I six R. If
- 12:02Speaker 1: that's you, raise your hand. I've been thinking about the
- 12:05Speaker 1: rules of the Pond. I believe the showrunners when they
- 12:07Speaker 1: say they are staying true to the rules, but we
- 12:10Speaker 1: don't necessarily know all the rules yet. At the beginning,
- 12:15Speaker 1: Elliot that time travel only worked for Alice, but then
- 12:17Speaker 1: Kat time traveled and we learned that Jacob went into
- 12:20Speaker 1: the pond, so he thought only a landry could time travel.
- 12:24Speaker 1: But then Elliott realized that a non landry can travel
- 12:28Speaker 1: to the pass provided they're traveling with a landry. What
- 12:32Speaker 1: if there are similar exceptions that we don't know of yet.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Everyone says the pond won't let you.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Travel forward in time, but what if it's possible for
- 12:41Speaker 2: a landry to do so, providing they're traveling with another
- 12:45Speaker 2: landry from the future. If Casey really is from the future,
- 12:48Speaker 2: for example, what if Colton used them to take him
- 12:51Speaker 2: forward in.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Time to look for Jacob.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I keep thinking there are some forward time travel happening
- 12:56Speaker 2: concurrently that we still don't know about.
- 13:00Speaker 1: There is.
- 13:00Speaker 2: The sheer volume of things that we don't know about
- 13:04Speaker 2: is so huge that I'm not willing.
- 13:06Speaker 1: To let go of the idea of future time travel.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I know there are people in the community that think
- 13:11Speaker 2: it's antithetical to the ideas that we have going on here,
- 13:16Speaker 2: but I'm not ready to let it go yet.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Here's a thought. What if we just don't know on
- 13:20Speaker 1: the way home that every single person is a time traveler,
- 13:23Speaker 1: Like we've made up these like weird rules. I mean,
- 13:27Speaker 1: the writers have made up these weird rules, right, we
- 13:30Speaker 1: don't know any of them to be fact, every single
- 13:33Speaker 1: person in port Haven could be a time traveler. So yeah,
- 13:38Speaker 1: So I'm saying, like, could there be time travel happening concurrently, future,
- 13:43Speaker 1: backward sideways, whatever? Yes, I think so. I think so too.
- 13:48Speaker 2: The only reason I'm going to push back on that
- 13:50Speaker 2: about everyone being a time traveler, well, I guess it
- 13:54Speaker 2: could happen. Here's what I'm thinking. The writers have said
- 13:57Speaker 2: that they are sticking to the rules of the Pond
- 13:59Speaker 2: as they have been established, and one of the rules
- 14:01Speaker 2: of the pond is you can only try and travel
- 14:03Speaker 2: with a landry. So I guess the same way this
- 14:08Speaker 2: user is suggesting is that as long as someone's traveling
- 14:11Speaker 2: with a landry, anybody could be a time traveler. Elliott's
- 14:15Speaker 2: the only one we've seen do like a ride along
- 14:19Speaker 2: time travel You're right, it's an interesting sci fi twist
- 14:25Speaker 2: that we find out that, like people are just jumping
- 14:27Speaker 2: in out of that pond all day long. I don't
- 14:29Speaker 2: know if it's at the top of my list of
- 14:31Speaker 2: believable theory.
- 14:32Speaker 1: My point is, like, you know how they say that
- 14:37Speaker 1: theory like you never see your neighbors bring groceries in?
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, all in a simulation. Yes, I think about that
- 14:42Speaker 2: all the time. I never see my neighbors.
- 14:44Speaker 1: I know that. But I'm like, what, so maybe the
- 14:48Speaker 1: people of Port Haven are living in this like whatever?
- 14:51Speaker 2: You know, Yeah, maybe there's gonna be some big reveal
- 14:54Speaker 2: at the end, some big pullback, and we're gonna go
- 14:57Speaker 2: what yeah death Naitan Heather asked, what if the clock
- 15:02Speaker 2: will allow people to rewind time and they can rewind
- 15:04Speaker 2: Colton's death and save him.
- 15:05Speaker 1: We know how I feel about that. I mean, I
- 15:08Speaker 1: feel like a hater.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I just I think we've established on this show that
- 15:14Speaker 2: their participation is less to change the past and more
- 15:19Speaker 2: to understand it or to facilitate it. The next YouTube comment,
- 15:24Speaker 2: it's from carry l Jin Carol Jen I apologize. If
- 15:28Speaker 2: Thomas had a daughter, I bet he would name her
- 15:30Speaker 2: after Catherine and her name would be Casey.
- 15:32Speaker 1: That said, I actually think it's.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Just as likely that Thomas and Kat have a baby
- 15:36Speaker 2: together in the eighteen hundred's birth control who and for
- 15:38Speaker 2: whatever reason, they have to send the baby down the
- 15:40Speaker 2: river to the landry house at some point in time.
- 15:42Speaker 2: That's really the only place a rogue baby could be raised.
- 15:45Speaker 1: So it's got to be somebody we've met already. Yeah.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I don't like the idea of the baby being put
- 15:54Speaker 1: on the river on well, it's not a river in
- 15:56Speaker 1: the pond, it's a pond. I don't like the idea
- 15:58Speaker 1: of the baby in the pond. I feel like the
- 16:00Speaker 1: baby is left behind for a reason. I don't know
- 16:02Speaker 1: what that reason is. I don't know who's supposed to find.
- 16:04Speaker 2: But I don't believe the idea of the baby going
- 16:08Speaker 2: through the pond as discussed, feels real dangerous to just
- 16:12Speaker 2: jump into a pond with a baby who cannot swim.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it does not know to Holt's breadth. Yeah, you're
- 16:17Speaker 1: logistically really hung up on that. On a show about
- 16:20Speaker 1: time travel, huh, I think some I think some things
- 16:23Speaker 1: we have to push back on, And I'm pushing back
- 16:24Speaker 1: on tossing a baby into a pond hoping it time travels.
- 16:28Speaker 1: What if the person jumping into the pond with the
- 16:30Speaker 1: baby time travels and the baby doesn't. Yeah, no, I know.
- 16:34Speaker 1: And then the baby is floating in the water. Yeah yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 1: it's not great. Yeah, I hear you, I hear you.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Sandy Forest five five ninety three writes very disappointed that
- 16:45Speaker 1: the writers decided to end the epic romance between Thomas
- 16:49Speaker 1: and Catherine. Apparently they don't care about half of their
- 16:52Speaker 1: fan base. Maybe they care about the Elliott cat fan base.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't really riled some people. I know.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I mean, I hear you. I enjoy the Thomas and
- 17:05Speaker 1: Catherine of it all as well.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I mean, what's funny is another comment from Nola Kelg
- 17:11Speaker 2: came in and said, I'm so sorry you guys don't
- 17:13Speaker 2: like Elliott.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I don't think we don't like Elliott. Yeah, I don't.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I don't dislike Elliott. I'm married in Elliott, guys, so
- 17:24Speaker 1: come on. I don't dislike Elliott, but comparison between Thomas
- 17:31Speaker 1: and Elliott I find myself more. It's intentional, though, don't. Yes,
- 17:38Speaker 1: I want it to be like go for the hot
- 17:41Speaker 1: guy from the past, like smoldering as opposed to the
- 17:44Speaker 1: like dependable, smart guy. Yes, yes, I mean.
- 17:51Speaker 2: This user goes on to say, I like Elliott I
- 17:53Speaker 2: don't find smart, curious, well read people boring, but that's just.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Me same I enjoy Elliott too.
- 18:02Speaker 2: They were intentionally leading us down a path to make
- 18:05Speaker 2: us doubt Kat's relationship with Elliott. They wanted us to
- 18:08Speaker 2: be torn in who we're rooting for. It's purposeful and
- 18:13Speaker 2: it was well done because Thomas was an excellent distraction,
- 18:18Speaker 2: an excellent reason for Kat to discover the things that.
- 18:21Speaker 1: She needs in a partner exactly. Let's move on to
- 18:24Speaker 1: some Instagram comments. Melissa writes, I have a theory about
- 18:29Speaker 1: the baby that was left by the pond. I don't
- 18:32Speaker 1: think I have seen anyone say this, but I think
- 18:34Speaker 1: Evelyn adopts that baby. Maybe she never married and that's
- 18:38Speaker 1: why they both have Goodwin as their last name. I
- 18:41Speaker 1: haven't watched episode nine yet, so not sure if there
- 18:45Speaker 1: was anything about that in this storyline. Well, yes, in
- 18:50Speaker 1: episode nine we did learn that Evelyn was married at
- 18:54Speaker 1: one point and drop that married name, but we don't
- 18:58Speaker 1: know how Lewis Goodwin came to be. Yeah, I feel
- 19:03Speaker 1: like we're to assume that she changed her son's name
- 19:09Speaker 1: as well. Max tells Alice like she had a bad marriage,
- 19:12Speaker 1: she changed her name back but Max doesn't say and
- 19:16Speaker 1: changed my father's name as well, so we get half
- 19:20Speaker 1: of an answer to that question. Michelle mentioned old clocks
- 19:24Speaker 1: need to be wound, they didn't have batteries. What he meaning, Elliott, right,
- 19:30Speaker 1: what he found was the key. She sent a screenshot
- 19:34Speaker 1: of an explanation about clocks needed to be wound. Yeah,
- 19:37Speaker 1: that is a good point, that one that I didn't consider.
- 19:42Speaker 1: It feels like Elliott the science teacher, may have understood that,
- 19:46Speaker 1: like the raisin, the clock doesn't work is because it
- 19:49Speaker 1: needs to be wound, and it's just not straight up broken.
- 19:53Speaker 1: But Michelle goes on to say.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Do we know who the girl that quoted ts Eliott
- 19:57Speaker 2: to Alice in nineteen seventy four at Coyles was? And
- 20:02Speaker 2: she says season three, episode seven, Rita says it's always
- 20:05Speaker 2: the person you least expect.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Could that have been Rita? And she knows more than
- 20:08Speaker 1: she's letting on? Oh, I didn't thought about Rita.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Michelle continues, saying, dying to know who Evelyn Mary? That
- 20:17Speaker 2: was so bad she dropped the name maybe quote Sam
- 20:21Speaker 2: mmm mmmm, he did come to.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Town after Evelyn died.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Michelle says the big tell all from Colton would make
- 20:29Speaker 2: a nice wrap up of unanswered questions if the show
- 20:33Speaker 2: had to end. I really hope we get another season.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I haven't heard any official announcement.
- 20:39Speaker 1: When you want to talk about that at the end
- 20:41Speaker 1: of this episode or do you want to talk about
- 20:43Speaker 1: it now, we'll just do it, okay. So, yes, Hallmark
- 20:47Speaker 1: has not announced if The Way Home is coming back
- 20:50Speaker 1: for a season four yet. This has been a big
- 20:53Speaker 1: topic of conversation in our Girl's Gone Hamewark facebook group. Yes,
- 20:58Speaker 1: I would like you to weigh and hear about what
- 21:01Speaker 1: you said. In our Facebook group.
- 21:03Speaker 2: There's been a lot of discussion, as Wendy said, about
- 21:05Speaker 2: The Way Home renewal and why we haven't heard anything,
- 21:07Speaker 2: And in our group, a lot of people are discussing
- 21:11Speaker 2: the ratings. Here's why I don't think we can make
- 21:14Speaker 2: a leap from the ratings to the show being canceled.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Ratings are down across cable networks. Overall, people access Hallmark
- 21:25Speaker 2: shows The Way Home on Peacock on Hallmark Plus they
- 21:30Speaker 2: have DVRs. Ratings are not a direct way of measuring
- 21:35Speaker 2: how much people are watching, and I would imagine that
- 21:37Speaker 2: Hallmark has back end ratings of Peacock viewing with their
- 21:40Speaker 2: partnership with Peacock, and of course Hallmark Plus Viewing giving
- 21:44Speaker 2: them a better picture of who's engaged in this show.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I'm not saying the show is not going to be canceled.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I'm just saying, for me, with all the talk during countown.
- 21:53Speaker 2: To Christmas about how the ratings did not live up
- 21:55Speaker 2: to twenty twenty three, that's not enough of a reason
- 21:58Speaker 2: for me. The other thing is there's a lot going on.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Hallmark initially announced this show was going to be on
- 22:05Speaker 2: Hallmark Plus. They had to reverse course after huge backlash
- 22:07Speaker 2: from the fans, and that forced them to put the
- 22:10Speaker 2: show on Friday nights because they had already, for whatever reason,
- 22:13Speaker 2: filled their Sunday timeslot and they couldn't with the Wind Calls.
- 22:15Speaker 1: The Heart, that's right, Yeah, that's right.
- 22:19Speaker 2: So when Calls the Heart is on Sundays, they're like,
- 22:21Speaker 2: we're gonna drop it on Thursdays on Hallmark Plus. People
- 22:23Speaker 2: went crazy and they were like, well, the only room
- 22:25Speaker 2: we have is on Fridays. That's a terrible time slot.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Fridays is a bad time slot. And so could that
- 22:31Speaker 2: have affected the ratings?
- 22:32Speaker 1: Yes? Would it be short sighted for Hallmark to be
- 22:35Speaker 1: like really put it in a time slot it tanked. Bye.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Maybe there's a lot of factors that go into this.
- 22:42Speaker 1: I also feel, and I say to Wendy, there's something
- 22:45Speaker 1: about this season and the way people talk about it
- 22:49Speaker 1: that is giving me the same vibes as.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I get when people talk about political conspiracy theories, and
- 22:57Speaker 2: sometimes people reference articles from sources I've never heard of.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I know that girls Conhollmark dot Com is not a
- 23:05Speaker 2: bastion of journalistic integrity. I do not consider us on
- 23:09Speaker 2: par with entertainment news sites like Variety and People. But
- 23:15Speaker 2: what we report there we report based on facts and information,
- 23:19Speaker 2: and we don't have an agenda other than to provide
- 23:23Speaker 2: information and perhaps be entertaining.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Mm hmm. This is a long way to say I'm
- 23:29Speaker 1: gonna be real sad if the show is canceled. I
- 23:33Speaker 1: said I would write in the streets of Kansas City.
- 23:36Speaker 1: It was kind of with me talk about cancelation dates,
- 23:40Speaker 1: so it says you know what I mean, Yes I do.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Hallmark picked up the drama for its third season just
- 23:46Speaker 1: ahead of the finale episode in the second season, and
- 23:50Speaker 1: during season one it was renewed just six episodes into
- 23:53Speaker 1: the first season.
- 23:55Speaker 2: You and I just recently on an episode talked about
- 23:58Speaker 2: some changes in leadership in Hollmark and we knowing absolutely
- 24:02Speaker 2: nothing positive that perhaps that's affecting some of the Hallmark
- 24:07Speaker 2: scheduling the changeover. Perhaps as one person was exiting, things
- 24:12Speaker 2: weren't maybe in progress as much as they should have been,
- 24:15Speaker 2: and they're playing a little bit of a game of
- 24:17Speaker 2: ketchup and in.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Order to do that.
- 24:19Speaker 2: You know, renewing a show isn't just like Hallmark saying
- 24:22Speaker 2: we want it back, as Hallmark saying we want to
- 24:25Speaker 2: back and this is what we're going to pay you
- 24:26Speaker 2: for it, and this is how we're going to do it,
- 24:27Speaker 2: and then everybody needs to get on board and sign
- 24:29Speaker 2: their contracts before.
- 24:30Speaker 1: They can announce. Yeah, you know, you get a friend's
- 24:33Speaker 1: situation where they're like, we're not coming back unless we
- 24:35Speaker 1: get X amount of money. I'm not suggesting that's what's
- 24:38Speaker 1: happening here, but there's as me to fall into place.
- 24:40Speaker 1: There's a lot of things that could be happening totally
- 24:43Speaker 1: behind the scenes that we are completely unaware of. I
- 24:47Speaker 1: am not naive.
- 24:48Speaker 2: I know shows get canceled and maybe it will, and
- 24:50Speaker 2: I know beloved shows get canceled I also know that
- 24:54Speaker 2: podcast listenership has zero direct correlation to who's watching things. However,
- 25:00Speaker 2: are the Way Home episodes have a higher listenership by
- 25:05Speaker 2: a noticeable margin than our other episodes?
- 25:07Speaker 1: Are the regular Saturday night movies are mysteries?
- 25:10Speaker 2: Correct, They have a bigger audience, They have a more
- 25:13Speaker 2: engaged audience. And there's other reasons for that, right, people
- 25:18Speaker 2: need a Way Home recap in a way they don't
- 25:21Speaker 2: need a recap of a royal movie. So I understand
- 25:23Speaker 2: why someone would be more inclined to listen to it
- 25:25Speaker 2: recap of the Way Home. I'm just saying I'm not
- 25:28Speaker 2: ready to write the show.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Off me neither. I hope it comes back for as
- 25:32Speaker 1: so do I. We will be here. I really don't
- 25:35Speaker 1: want to wait another year, but I know we're going
- 25:37Speaker 1: to have to. Oh, of course we're gonna have to.
- 25:40Speaker 2: So those are our deep thoughts on the Way Home renewal.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Send your thoughts to Girls Gone Homemark at gmail dot com. Also,
- 25:46Speaker 2: this is Monday that we're recording. This episode comes out
- 25:48Speaker 2: on Thursday. Things could change, And so if you're hearing
- 25:51Speaker 2: this conversation going yo, dummies.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Didn't you hear it? Got renewed. We are recording a
- 25:57Speaker 1: little bit of ahead of time. We do not have
- 26:00Speaker 1: future time travel at Artis, so we do not know
- 26:02Speaker 1: magic clock on this mantle. All right? Packed to thoughts,
- 26:06Speaker 1: Why don't you read what Wayne has to say? Superfan?
- 26:09Speaker 1: Wayne gives two thoughts. One, if Jacob brought Elliott to
- 26:12Speaker 1: eighteen something and just ran back to the pond, he
- 26:16Speaker 1: had no idea Kat was okay and able to bring
- 26:19Speaker 1: Elliott home. These Landryes are so willy nilly about using
- 26:23Speaker 1: the pond and doing whatever they want. Here you go, Elliott,
- 26:25Speaker 1: welcome to the pass. I think because I didn't go
- 26:28Speaker 1: and verify with you. Now go through the path and
- 26:30Speaker 1: you'll either find a landry farm or dysentery. Good luck.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Wayne is not wrong. I'm telling you I am uncomfortable
- 26:39Speaker 1: this entire season with just like jump into the pond
- 26:43Speaker 1: and see where it's gonna take you. You're hoping you're
- 26:45Speaker 1: going to end up where you want to end up.
- 26:48Speaker 2: And without fail, it takes them to the moment they
- 26:51Speaker 2: want to go. They play fast and lose with their
- 26:53Speaker 2: time travel abilities.
- 26:54Speaker 1: I don't like it. It makes me worried. Wayne also
- 26:59Speaker 1: adds one quick note, nothing is random. Who was that
- 27:02Speaker 1: girl with the ts Eliot quote? You're not wrong, Wayne,
- 27:07Speaker 1: I'm I'm sure she wasn't some random chick like I
- 27:11Speaker 1: thought she was. Definitely not. The scene like they're practically
- 27:15Speaker 1: like hello, pay attention here when she turns around, I
- 27:19Speaker 1: mean like she's like holding up her book and quoting
- 27:22Speaker 1: I wrote the whole thing down. It's meaningful, and I
- 27:25Speaker 1: don't know what the meaning that it is full of
- 27:28Speaker 1: is correct. Also, credit where credit is due.
- 27:31Speaker 2: As we discussed the continuation of our Mailbag episodes beyond
- 27:35Speaker 2: the Way Home, Wayne is the one who was like, yo,
- 27:38Speaker 2: keep it going.
- 27:39Speaker 1: They do not have to end. Janna says, I don't.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Know what's frustrating the hell, and I mean with this
- 27:44Speaker 2: season's the Way Home, the fact that they build up
- 27:46Speaker 2: all these mysteries to either go unanswered or the answer
- 27:49Speaker 2: being so benign that you question why it's a cliffhanger.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Casey jumped into the pond. The next episode they're not
- 27:55Speaker 2: even shown. I hate that too. It is frustrating the
- 27:59Speaker 2: number of unanswered questions. We are going into the finale
- 28:02Speaker 2: with our extreme.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Yeah, because the problem with that is, give me a
- 28:07Speaker 1: couple nuggets along the way through the season that satisfied me.
- 28:11Speaker 1: But instead it's like we build up to our season
- 28:15Speaker 1: finale episode where I feel like they are not going
- 28:19Speaker 1: to be able to answer everything that has remained unanswered
- 28:24Speaker 1: in forty five minutes.
- 28:25Speaker 2: No, and they have to leave some things unanswered in
- 28:28Speaker 2: order to make for an interesting fourth season to make
- 28:32Speaker 2: people want to come back.
- 28:33Speaker 1: So I hear that, But they also like even drop
- 28:38Speaker 1: new nuggets that, yeah, they could work in season four.
- 28:42Speaker 2: I know the fact that in episode nine we're getting
- 28:44Speaker 2: random seventy four girl dropping quotes like I don't need
- 28:48Speaker 2: more questions, people, I don't need more questions, Jannis says. Also,
- 28:52Speaker 2: the way Elliott was staring at Susannah, I was sure
- 28:55Speaker 2: he was going to walk up to her and say, mom, Now,
- 28:58Speaker 2: that would have been good television.
- 28:59Speaker 1: I h agreed. I agree. Nobody consulted us, Jannis.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Let me take a quick break, and we're gonna come
- 29:07Speaker 2: right back with our emails.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Nicole writes in an email subject titled Casey, Hi, Megan
- 29:22Speaker 1: and Wendy. With so much going on the season, I
- 29:24Speaker 1: started to feel like I missed a lot in previous seasons,
- 29:28Speaker 1: so I decided to do a rewatch. I probably still
- 29:32Speaker 1: missed a lot, but I just caught something interesting. In
- 29:35Speaker 1: season two, episode three, Casey comes to the newspaper office
- 29:39Speaker 1: and asks Kat for an internship. When Kat is hesitant,
- 29:44Speaker 1: Casey says, quote, it would be dream come true to
- 29:47Speaker 1: experience print media firsthand, dot dot dot before it's dead.
- 29:52Speaker 1: On first watch, I just thought they were being a
- 29:56Speaker 1: dramatic teen, but this time it sounded to me like
- 29:59Speaker 1: they live in a time without print media. Also, when
- 30:03Speaker 1: Kat says, quote, so you're Evelyn's granddaughter, they say yep,
- 30:08Speaker 1: but avoids eye contact and looks nervous. Kat asks if
- 30:13Speaker 1: it would be weird for them to go through the
- 30:15Speaker 1: Goodwin archives, and when they say something like it would
- 30:20Speaker 1: be nice to learn about my family in a different way,
- 30:24Speaker 1: they also say they don't really know Evelyn, and of
- 30:28Speaker 1: course they wouldn't if Evelyn died before they were born. Later,
- 30:33Speaker 1: when Alice comes in, Casey acts nervous and then is
- 30:36Speaker 1: very disappointed when Alice doesn't seem interested in a friendship.
- 30:40Speaker 1: The theory of Casey being from the future is already
- 30:43Speaker 1: incredibly strong, and these interactions seem to point in that
- 30:47Speaker 1: direction as well. Thanks for the podcast. It gives me
- 30:51Speaker 1: my fix Between episodes. Thank you for listening, Nicole. I
- 30:54Speaker 1: think we've established Casey us from the future. Does this
- 30:58Speaker 1: go back to my Alice is dead in the future
- 31:01Speaker 1: and Casey is trying to.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Reforge your relationship with an aunt or their mom or
- 31:12Speaker 2: someone they didn't get the chance to know.
- 31:15Speaker 1: I mean, I do remember during season two I thought
- 31:21Speaker 1: it was interesting Alice's kind of reluctance to Casey. But
- 31:27Speaker 1: now in season three, Alice's reluctance to Casey is that
- 31:31Speaker 1: she believes Casey might be her child. Right, very different
- 31:35Speaker 1: motivations there. Yeah, so I I don't know.
- 31:39Speaker 2: The next email comes from Lisa, who says, I believe
- 31:42Speaker 2: Alice is the one that Fern and then later Fern
- 31:45Speaker 2: and Kat talk about Alice's last name is Dewan, which
- 31:48Speaker 2: when you pronounce it sounds like the one.
- 31:51Speaker 1: The one I really think it is just that obvious
- 31:57Speaker 1: is Alice de one? I that it's really interesting. Actually no, no,
- 32:04Speaker 1: Sue emails she says, Hey, ladies, I love listening to
- 32:07Speaker 1: your podcast and all of your theories and opinions. I
- 32:09Speaker 1: do have a question for you. In episode eight, you
- 32:13Speaker 1: mentioned that Claire Nick's fiance could be Susannah. Are you
- 32:17Speaker 1: thinking that Susannah is from the future and then travels back.
- 32:21Speaker 1: If that's the case, she would have to be a
- 32:24Speaker 1: landry because didn't they say that only landryes could time
- 32:28Speaker 1: travel and you can't travel to the future, you can
- 32:31Speaker 1: only travel back in time. Thank you for your podcast. Well,
- 32:37Speaker 1: I responded to this because I wanted to clarify, so
- 32:40Speaker 1: I'm just going to read my response. I said, I
- 32:42Speaker 1: think for this theory to be true, we're relying on
- 32:45Speaker 1: the theory that the clock allows future time travel, which
- 32:48Speaker 1: would allow Susanna to come forward in time, perhaps alongside
- 32:53Speaker 1: a landry. I don't know.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Also, people can travel with a landry when the pond allows,
- 32:58Speaker 2: like when Elliott went back with Alice to see Colton
- 33:03Speaker 2: this episode that she's referring to, and this email was
- 33:05Speaker 2: sent before episode nine dropped, but again we also see
- 33:09Speaker 2: Elliott go back with Jacob to get to Cat. I said, obviously,
- 33:14Speaker 2: there are a ton of what ifs in these scenarios,
- 33:17Speaker 2: theories based on theories. This email comes from Christy who says, Ladies,
- 33:21Speaker 2: I love the Way Home recaps and listener mail bags.
- 33:23Speaker 2: The writers have planned out so many important details regarding time, place,
- 33:27Speaker 2: and characters. Their attention to detail is phenomenal, the sticker
- 33:31Speaker 2: on Alice's guitar and the story behind it being a
- 33:34Speaker 2: prime example. Did you ever think about the Landry house itself?
- 33:39Speaker 2: The building has provided a home for several generations. As
- 33:42Speaker 2: a colonial farmhouse, I would think it would have more
- 33:45Speaker 2: than three bedrooms. It's a minor detail. But having Cat
- 33:49Speaker 2: move in with Elliott simply as a numbers game doesn't
- 33:52Speaker 2: seem to hold up. Surely you could put a futon
- 33:55Speaker 2: in there somewhere. I don't know anything about colonial farmhouse construction, but.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Would they be bigger? Would a farmhouse be big.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Or would it just be the bare minimum amount of
- 34:11Speaker 2: space needed to house and sleep the people who live there.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I have no idea our family's bigger. But yes,
- 34:18Speaker 1: I agree Kat did not need to move to Elliott's.
- 34:24Speaker 1: There is another solution they could have come up with
- 34:29Speaker 1: Minelliot renovates his entire house. You're telling me they couldn't
- 34:31Speaker 1: have made the basement levable if it was necessary, sure,
- 34:35Speaker 1: or that they couldn't have thought maybe Jacob could move
- 34:38Speaker 1: to Elliott and Kat could cann't do to live in
- 34:40Speaker 1: the home or her daughter lives. You're not wrong Christie
- 34:44Speaker 1: that it's a it's a wild leap to Wow. There's
- 34:47Speaker 1: a lot of emails. I know you guys, every time
- 34:50Speaker 1: we open our our Gmail account, we're recording. It's great.
- 34:54Speaker 1: We love it genuinely. We yeah, we do our next
- 34:57Speaker 1: emails from Lisa, I love your podcast. Thanks for all
- 35:02Speaker 1: of your sharing and insights. I was wondering if you
- 35:05Speaker 1: think that the girl talking to Alice about the ts
- 35:08Speaker 1: Eliot polme was a young Casey. Also wondering if somehow
- 35:13Speaker 1: Kat ends up with Louis and Casey is their daughter,
- 35:17Speaker 1: which is kind of far fetched, but it crossed my
- 35:20Speaker 1: mind as I was listening to the podcast. But I
- 35:23Speaker 1: also think that Casey is Jacob's child, But who would
- 35:27Speaker 1: he marry and why is their name a good Win?
- 35:34Speaker 1: And now we know that Cyrus is not responsible for
- 35:36Speaker 1: the wonderful, awesome town at Port Haven. But Susannah is
- 35:41Speaker 1: one more episode and then we will wait to see
- 35:44Speaker 1: if Hallmark renews it for a fourth season.
- 35:47Speaker 2: I do not like the idea that Kat marries Lewis
- 35:51Speaker 2: because I think Lewis.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Is a is a bad guy at heart. I think
- 35:57Speaker 1: he's play acting. I think he set Jacob up as
- 36:00Speaker 1: mentioned in our last recap, I think he set him up.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Oh interesting, Did I have that reaction? Did we talk
- 36:07Speaker 1: about him being set up?
- 36:10Speaker 2: I talked about the fact that I thought Lewis made
- 36:13Speaker 2: such a sharp one eighty from his appearance at the
- 36:15Speaker 2: book party to his comb be my soil Whisperer that
- 36:18Speaker 2: I was suspicious of his intention.
- 36:20Speaker 1: That's right, might be. I guess we'll have to wait
- 36:23Speaker 1: and see.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Laura says a few thoughts from throughout the season before
- 36:27Speaker 2: we hit the finale. In episode eight, I don't think
- 36:29Speaker 2: I heard you mention this. When Alice finds Max Goodwin
- 36:32Speaker 2: sitting in her house and he comments nice set about
- 36:35Speaker 2: the chess set and before he talks about his grandmother
- 36:38Speaker 2: Evelyn playing with him, Alice mentions that the chess game
- 36:41Speaker 2: was a gift from her grandmother's friend Sam for her birthday.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Another piece of the puzzle of a chess piece being
- 36:49Speaker 2: found in the Lingermore attic, the fact that the piece
- 36:52Speaker 2: is a bishop, and then Sam Bishop specifically gives that
- 36:55Speaker 2: as a gift to Dell.
- 36:57Speaker 1: I knew he was trouble when he walked in.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Not really, but since he made the funny face of
- 37:01Speaker 2: the eighteen hundred coins in season two, episode ten at
- 37:05Speaker 2: the Landry dining room table.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Also in episode eight.
- 37:09Speaker 2: I did not catch the guy spying on Cat and
- 37:11Speaker 2: Thomas from the cliff side in the eighteen hundreds was Jasper.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I can't be bothered.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Either to remember exactly what year in eighteen hundred it was.
- 37:18Speaker 2: I assumed it was a Cyrus crony that then followed
- 37:20Speaker 2: them to see that Cat Win in the tunnels.
- 37:22Speaker 1: To see Susanna.
- 37:24Speaker 2: At Lingermore and simply told on them to Cyrus. I
- 37:27Speaker 2: rewatched that scene a bunch. I just can't tell. His
- 37:30Speaker 2: demeanor is so different than Jasper, it seems hard to
- 37:32Speaker 2: believe it would be the same person. If in fact
- 37:35Speaker 2: it is the same actor. Could it be a Coil ancestor?
- 37:38Speaker 1: Who knows?
- 37:40Speaker 2: Episode in episode nine, the hokey comment around Elliot's remark
- 37:44Speaker 2: to Susanna. This is in reference to Elliott finding or
- 37:48Speaker 2: to Wendy finding Elliot's Susanna meeting to be a little hokey.
- 37:51Speaker 2: I chalk that up to Elliott's dorky, and that's just
- 37:53Speaker 2: what he would say in that instance. I mean, this
- 37:55Speaker 2: is a guy who talks about the Avian flu and
- 37:57Speaker 2: chicken hen reproduction while cooking with eggs as a fun
- 38:00Speaker 2: fact said with love.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I do love Elliott, I.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Will say, with all the tomcat passion and excitement, I
- 38:06Speaker 2: did actually like seeing Elliott take big action for once.
- 38:09Speaker 2: He made a big thought out plan, an effort to
- 38:11Speaker 2: travel to the eighteen hundreds to get to Kat, and
- 38:13Speaker 2: I enjoyed finally seeing a passionate kiss between Kat and Elliott,
- 38:17Speaker 2: given the awkwardness we've seen from them all season. I
- 38:20Speaker 2: was sick of the wishy, washy Elliot we get a
- 38:22Speaker 2: lot of the time.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Good email Michelle W. Wrights. Wow, I had all the
- 38:30Speaker 1: feels in regard to episode nine of The Way Home.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I just listened to your podcast and had to jump
- 38:36Speaker 1: in once again. Cat fixing adding the Cyrus chapter broke
- 38:42Speaker 1: something she doesn't know better. Thomas and Kat scene was weird.
- 38:47Speaker 1: I wanted one more kiss, and honestly, besides Alice, Kat
- 38:50Speaker 1: doesn't have a life in the present at this point,
- 38:54Speaker 1: I'd stay for the diseases to be with Thomas and
- 38:57Speaker 1: an extra tetanus and penicillin is worth it. I heard
- 39:00Speaker 1: an interview with Chris so holden Reid last year on
- 39:03Speaker 1: another podcast. He still fences and did modern patathlon. Oh
- 39:07Speaker 1: he's a modern patathlon athlete, swim run, shoe ride. I
- 39:11Speaker 1: wanted to duel between him and Elliott science versus the
- 39:15Speaker 1: real deal. Of course, Elliott would bore him to death
- 39:17Speaker 1: talking about science of the sky. Oh hot takes. As
- 39:21Speaker 1: for a kiss, count Cat has had four with Brady
- 39:26Speaker 1: the Vet, Andy, Elliott, and Thomas. Alice has had three Nick,
- 39:32Speaker 1: Noah and Max. Who the heck is Andy the Vet? Andy?
- 39:37Speaker 1: I don't I think that was in season one? And
- 39:42Speaker 1: the gal the high school friend hooked her up, the
- 39:46Speaker 1: gal that worked at or who owns the Point Deep Cut. Yeah.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Thank you so much for your coverage of the show.
- 39:53Speaker 1: It makes my week.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Pleasa sent a video that we will include in the
- 39:57Speaker 2: show notes. The email is titled horror Ovar Flying Pendulum
- 40:02Speaker 2: Clock The craziest clock in the World. And when you
- 40:07Speaker 2: look at the video it does appear to be much
- 40:12Speaker 2: like the clock and the piece that was found.
- 40:16Speaker 1: It is a weird It has a pendulum that swings
- 40:20Speaker 1: back and forth and wraps around two different poles, and
- 40:23Speaker 1: that piece that Elliott found in the bottom of the
- 40:25Speaker 1: clock is at the top. So obviously my powers of
- 40:30Speaker 1: description are terrible. Will include the video so you can
- 40:34Speaker 1: you can see for yourselves what this clock may look
- 40:37Speaker 1: like when it is fully put together again, I'm so
- 40:40Speaker 1: impressed with like the people who know so much about clocks, I.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Know, and it even looks if you did you look
- 40:46Speaker 2: at the video there dead there's little floral details on
- 40:50Speaker 2: the front which looked just like the ones on Elliott's clock,
- 40:53Speaker 2: which to me, those little floral details the kind of.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Reminiscent of the Augustine ring. Oh don't know if there's
- 41:00Speaker 1: any correlation there, Francisco writes in he says so much
- 41:07Speaker 1: to say, but not all about cat. Lol. Francisco is
- 41:11Speaker 1: our resident cat hater. That's right, Wendy and Meghan. I
- 41:14Speaker 1: know my subject line said not all about cat, but
- 41:18Speaker 1: what would a week be without some cat bashing? Lol?
- 41:22Speaker 1: Question mark. I think her saying to Susannah here's my
- 41:26Speaker 1: twenty first idea was a typical cat blunder. I did
- 41:30Speaker 1: like the fact that she finally came to the realization
- 41:33Speaker 1: that this dalliance but Thomas really wasn't going to work out.
- 41:38Speaker 1: So she has a life to live, a daughter to
- 41:40Speaker 1: still raise, and hey, let's not forget about the herald.
- 41:43Speaker 1: When she was crying, I thought, what are you crying
- 41:46Speaker 1: about Thomas, the fire, all of it. I think we're
- 41:50Speaker 1: seeing season one cat again. I do agree with the
- 41:54Speaker 1: comment on Elliott. Also quote my Elliot, what the hell
- 42:00Speaker 1: question Mark? You just said my Thomas. I thought Thomas
- 42:03Speaker 1: was going to challenge Elliott to a duel for a minute.
- 42:06Speaker 1: That's two emails now reference it was a duel. I
- 42:11Speaker 1: mean that would make a cool scene for sure. Regarding Alice,
- 42:15Speaker 1: I liked the scene with Colton answering a lot of
- 42:18Speaker 1: the questions. I think that was a good way to
- 42:20Speaker 1: do it. Also, I liked seeing that Kat actually was
- 42:24Speaker 1: parenting her and showing interest in her child. I don't
- 42:28Speaker 1: see much in a trip to ninety nine to play Mash.
- 42:32Speaker 1: It was a silly game, says you, Francisco, and I
- 42:36Speaker 1: feel like I grew up on Mash. He asked, what
- 42:39Speaker 1: so it can tell us that Alice marries Nick and
- 42:41Speaker 1: lives in a mansion Nick Nick Nick? No oh, if
- 42:48Speaker 1: they're playing in ninety nine, Okay, I see how she
- 42:50Speaker 1: could marry Nick. Yeah, okay. I don't know if I
- 42:54Speaker 1: can say this, but Susannah was a total badass in
- 42:58Speaker 1: this episode in Ca in like one at the Landry Farm,
- 43:03Speaker 1: I think Elliott was just an awe of one of
- 43:05Speaker 1: his ancestors. Also writes, Jacob is really going through it.
- 43:09Speaker 1: I don't think Lewis set him up, but he needs help.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Sabotaging the vineyard now doesn't affect Cyrus. I'm glad dal
- 43:15Speaker 1: stopped him, but I knew there wouldn't be an explosion.
- 43:18Speaker 1: I mean it's not Yellowstone, okay. I think Hallmark needs
- 43:22Speaker 1: a to do a spin off with young Evelyn traveling
- 43:25Speaker 1: the world and exploring mythical objects in places like Indiana. Jones,
- 43:28Speaker 1: I'm there for it, Signed Francisco, I have a question
- 43:33Speaker 1: for you. We talked earlier in this episode about a
- 43:35Speaker 1: spinoff for Thomas. Would you love a spin off with Evelyn?
- 43:39Speaker 1: I love Evelyn, I love young Evelyn, and I am
- 43:44Speaker 1: sad to potentially see her left in the past. Me too?
- 43:48Speaker 1: What an actress's name? Devin Devin Cicchetto. On her Instagram recently,
- 43:54Speaker 1: she shared some pictures and I commented, from our Girls
- 43:57Speaker 1: Gone Hamework, I was like our Queen Evie liked it.
- 44:00Speaker 1: I saw it. I was like, God, she sees that.
- 44:02Speaker 1: I saw that. I love Evelyn. Me too, me too?
- 44:08Speaker 2: I really excellent, excellent, addition to the cast this season. Yeah,
- 44:13Speaker 2: Paula writes, Hi again love the recap. Hopefully this is
- 44:16Speaker 2: my last take on Tomcat and Elliott and Susannah. You
- 44:19Speaker 2: were right last week there was never gonna be a
- 44:20Speaker 2: cat Sanna Hallmark wouldn't do it outside of the slick portmanteau.
- 44:24Speaker 2: I don't get the appeal rewatching Cat's brush off. She
- 44:28Speaker 2: was describing Elliott in what she wants in a lover.
- 44:31Speaker 2: It took Thomas to make her realize that. What did
- 44:33Speaker 2: Thomas do?
- 44:35Speaker 1: That said? I wouldn't be surprised if I bring this
- 44:37Speaker 1: back up. I hope the nineteenth century is done some
- 44:41Speaker 1: other things. The promo for episode ten said everything's being
- 44:43Speaker 1: wrapped up. I doubt it. I can't count the loose ends.
- 44:48Speaker 2: I think Jacob being set up by Goodwin is just
- 44:50Speaker 2: too obvious. Does anyone think gets odd that Nick rhymes
- 44:54Speaker 2: with Rick and Vic?
- 44:55Speaker 1: Do we know Nick's father? Plus the mysterious Claire, There's
- 44:58Speaker 1: got to be more to that story.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Why does young Dell have such a different action than
- 45:02Speaker 2: old Dell? How did she pick up a twang living
- 45:04Speaker 2: in Canada for fifty years? It's got nothing to do
- 45:06Speaker 2: with the plot. Just bugs me.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I think that's just Andy McDowell. Yeah, acting choices actresses.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Assuming Sam Bishop is a bad guy? Could he be
- 45:16Speaker 1: from Dell's past? Was the horse of setup because he
- 45:19Speaker 1: knew about her family? Is Casey still a character in
- 45:22Speaker 1: this show? Good question.
- 45:24Speaker 2: I'm trying to figure out what happens in ninety nine.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Kat had good memories, but it seems like cliffhanger material.
- 45:30Speaker 2: I think the introduction of the T. S. Eliott GROUPI
- 45:33Speaker 2: means nineteen seventy four or may not be done.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Read that poem.
- 45:37Speaker 2: It fits into the theme of the Way Home. Could
- 45:38Speaker 2: she be like Gruster? I don't know what that means?
- 45:42Speaker 1: What is Gruster? Gruster was a character in The Chicken Sisters.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't know what it means to be
- 45:50Speaker 2: like Gruster.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Me neither. Paula. Write in and explain yourself. I want
- 45:55Speaker 1: to go back to one of Paula's notes. Is Casey
- 45:58Speaker 1: still a character in this show? Agree? There has not
- 46:02Speaker 1: been enough Casey in this season overall for me.
- 46:07Speaker 2: No, and particularly given it such a driving plot point
- 46:10Speaker 2: about who they are. Yeah, I mean Alice is in
- 46:14Speaker 2: an existential crisis about the fact that she may be
- 46:18Speaker 2: a mother to this totally.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Jessica writes, I'm so bummed that these Mailbag episodes are
- 46:24Speaker 1: wrapping up. You ladies have done a great job. Hey, Jessica,
- 46:28Speaker 1: we want to keep Mailbags going. We hope you're a
- 46:31Speaker 1: regular Hallmark movie watcher. Please write in yep. This one's
- 46:34Speaker 1: on you, y'all keep it going. I hypothesize that the
- 46:38Speaker 1: young woman quoting T. S. Eliott to Alice was Elliott's mom.
- 46:43Speaker 1: The scene was clearly meaningful, and why else have a T. S.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Eliot quote from some random younger chick. It has been
- 46:51Speaker 1: days and I'm still mourning the Tomcat goodbye. While I
- 46:56Speaker 1: understand it from a intellectual standpoint, it's so stinking sad.
- 47:00Speaker 1: It's also frustrating because I agree with you that future
- 47:04Speaker 1: travel is coming. Plus, Thomas says he has relatives in
- 47:08Speaker 1: New York, so he doesn't necessarily need to actually go
- 47:12Speaker 1: there to fulfill what Jasper told us. I think the
- 47:16Speaker 1: writers did the best they could to try and give
- 47:19Speaker 1: a satisfying goodbye, but the reality is for a lot
- 47:23Speaker 1: of viewers it would never be enough. At least half
- 47:27Speaker 1: the viewers right along in this thread, I'm team Francisco.
- 47:34Speaker 1: This is my.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Favorite because I love that these mailbag episodes are such
- 47:40Speaker 2: a part of the canon now that people are all
- 47:44Speaker 2: in on other writer inners.
- 47:46Speaker 1: This brings me so much joy, so much joy. Oh
- 47:51Speaker 1: my gosh, I am Team Francisco and I'm super annoyed
- 47:54Speaker 1: with Kat. Elliott jumps to eighteen fourteen, and all of
- 47:57Speaker 1: a sudden, she's calling him my Elliott and happy with
- 48:01Speaker 1: him again, when scenes before she basically told Thomas she
- 48:05Speaker 1: wasn't sure if Elliott was enough. She is constantly flip
- 48:08Speaker 1: flopping and getting annoying. I also agree with you. I
- 48:12Speaker 1: don't get the scene where they embrace. It was not earned.
- 48:17Speaker 1: Was this just showrunners trying to speed things along to
- 48:20Speaker 1: say they were getting back together. A lot of the
- 48:23Speaker 1: past two episodes feel very rushed, like this season could
- 48:27Speaker 1: have been twelve episodes and not ten. Can't wait till
- 48:32Speaker 1: your final summary episode, Jessica. I love the idea of
- 48:38Speaker 1: this being twelve episodes and not ten. Me too, I
- 48:41Speaker 1: think we could use more Team Francisco. Francisco, you got fans,
- 48:46Speaker 1: Karen writes, Kat and Elliott do not look like they
- 48:48Speaker 1: have a future. Their relationship is weak and awkward. Kat
- 48:51Speaker 1: and Tomas look good together and she needs to work
- 48:53Speaker 1: it out with him. What's a little time difference when
- 48:55Speaker 1: you're in love? You know they're temporally under desirable. But
- 49:01Speaker 1: other than that, Laurie sends an email titled the Clock
- 49:04Speaker 1: and the Raison de Tree from the Founding Families. Fancy
- 49:08Speaker 1: what's that mean? I think it's the reason for existing. Hi,
- 49:13Speaker 1: Wendy and Megan.
- 49:14Speaker 2: I know that many people have proposed that the clock
- 49:17Speaker 2: in the wall is meant to be a time travel
- 49:18Speaker 2: device and to the future, But honestly, if a man
- 49:21Speaker 2: made German clock from the nineteenth century, as the saying
- 49:24Speaker 2: capabilities as a natural phenomenon created thousands of years ago,
- 49:28Speaker 2: I will be disappointed.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 49:30Speaker 2: There are stories from all cultures dating back centuries of
- 49:33Speaker 2: thin spots in nature where the realm between worlds can
- 49:35Speaker 2: be traversed given the right circumstances. It's only in relatively
- 49:40Speaker 2: recent history that the idea of time travel or travel
- 49:44Speaker 2: between worlds can occur through man made devices has been
- 49:48Speaker 2: part of various stories.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Our listeners are so smart, I know. I was just like, Laurie,
- 49:53Speaker 1: do you want to take my spot on this podcast?
- 49:56Speaker 1: Because I'm blowing away by the thoughtfull of this response. Also,
- 50:02Speaker 1: the writers themselves have stated future time travel is an
- 50:05Speaker 1: integrity issue as part of the Landry lore, and part
- 50:10Speaker 1: of the Landry lore is that you don't tell others
- 50:12Speaker 1: their futures. In episode nine, Cat states that no one
- 50:16Speaker 1: should know their future, and while that might be a
- 50:18Speaker 1: character stating her opinion, it could also be the writer
- 50:22Speaker 1: stating something they hold sacro sank through the mouth of
- 50:24Speaker 1: one of their characters.
- 50:27Speaker 2: I know others have stated this. The Landries are focused
- 50:29Speaker 2: on the past, the Goodwins on the future, and the
- 50:31Speaker 2: Augustines on the present. Hey, the Landryes reflect as the
- 50:36Speaker 2: pond is a reflection on the past, and learn from
- 50:39Speaker 2: what happens. The Goodwins look to the future and founded
- 50:43Speaker 2: a town, started a shipping business, and created a winery.
- 50:46Speaker 2: The Augustines in the world, the Augustines and the words
- 50:50Speaker 2: of Elliott observe and record. He stated at Founder's Day
- 50:54Speaker 2: that the Augustines contributed by recording the town's stories, and
- 50:56Speaker 2: they are still doing that today. Perhaps the Clock is
- 51:00Speaker 2: about recording information or has provided the Augustines of the
- 51:04Speaker 2: past ways to observe It will be interesting to see.
- 51:09Speaker 2: I honestly think there are far fewer time travelers than
- 51:11Speaker 2: fans have been postulating. The Lander's ability seems to be
- 51:14Speaker 2: tied to the fact that they dwell on the land,
- 51:17Speaker 2: that they are stewards of the land. Even their last
- 51:20Speaker 2: name hints at that. People just want to see time
- 51:22Speaker 2: travelers everywhere, when like with Outlander, it's just a select few.
- 51:27Speaker 1: I'm convinced that writer and her Lori is the showrunner
- 51:30Speaker 1: up right, this show. It's really thoughtful.
- 51:34Speaker 2: And as I'm reading this, I'm thinking about the thoughtfulness
- 51:38Speaker 2: of the creation.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Of that show. This show.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Yeah, because when you think about the Augustines being the historians,
- 51:50Speaker 2: and we have Susanna Augustine in her book, and then
- 51:52Speaker 2: we have Elliott Augustine and his journal, and I just
- 51:56Speaker 2: think the thoughtfulness of all of that to come together
- 51:59Speaker 2: over these seasons.
- 52:00Speaker 1: I'm very impressed with Lorie's observations and with the fact
- 52:05Speaker 1: that those things exist. Yeah, And I know she says
- 52:08Speaker 1: in her email that others has stated all of that.
- 52:11Speaker 1: That's the first time I've ever it's ever been laid
- 52:13Speaker 1: out used to me. Yeah, Lindsay writes in Hello, my mom,
- 52:16Speaker 1: and I love listening to your podcast. Hey, we're hitting generations, Megan,
- 52:22Speaker 1: thank you for good to listen to you, guys. We
- 52:24Speaker 1: just discovered it a couple of weeks ago and wish
- 52:26Speaker 1: we had found it sooner. We'd love all the possible theories.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Do you think the younger girl that talks to Alice
- 52:33Speaker 1: in nineteen seventy four could be Elliott's mom? She said
- 52:37Speaker 1: her favorite author is T. S. Elliott. That's got to
- 52:40Speaker 1: be a clue. When y'all were talking about the man
- 52:44Speaker 1: who looked like Jasper in the eighteen hundreds, I've found
- 52:47Speaker 1: this comparison in one of the Facebook groups, and she
- 52:50Speaker 1: sends a screenshot of the photos of the actor playing Jasper.
- 52:57Speaker 1: These are from his IMDb because I shared these same
- 53:00Speaker 1: photos in our own Facebook group, I will also drop
- 53:06Speaker 1: this collage of photos in our show notes for this
- 53:09Speaker 1: episode too, so if you guys want to get eyes
- 53:11Speaker 1: on it, you can see. In regards to who is Sam,
- 53:15Speaker 1: I saw an interview with the actor who said that
- 53:17Speaker 1: he wasn't right about what he thought and he didn't
- 53:21Speaker 1: even know who he was yet. I heard the season
- 53:25Speaker 1: ends on a cliffhanger. I really hope the series gets renewed.
- 53:29Speaker 1: I know we'll get some answers in the finale, but
- 53:31Speaker 1: I'm sure there will be lots more questions too. I
- 53:34Speaker 1: heard it's a real tear jerker, so we better buckle up.
- 53:39Speaker 1: I have a question for you.
- 53:41Speaker 2: So many people have written in that ts Eliott is
- 53:44Speaker 2: a very clear nod to Elliott. Are you little embarrassed
- 53:47Speaker 2: we didn't get there?
- 53:48Speaker 1: I am, But you know what it's like when you
- 53:54Speaker 1: have an episode. It's easy to Monday Morning quarterback. Right
- 53:58Speaker 1: when we watched these episodes were like taking furious notes.
- 54:03Speaker 1: There's so many things coming at us, and then over
- 54:07Speaker 1: the next week we kind of start processing it. Yeah, exactly, So, yeah,
- 54:11Speaker 1: I'm embarrassed. That was my excuse to be, like, guys,
- 54:16Speaker 1: there's so much habbity in here.
- 54:18Speaker 2: One final email from Anita who says I think Delilah
- 54:21Speaker 2: is pregnant in nineteen seventy four with someone else's baby
- 54:24Speaker 2: and Cat is not Colton's child. Anita, I refuse to
- 54:29Speaker 2: accept that energy that Cat is not Colton's child. Also,
- 54:32Speaker 2: the math doesn't math if Delilah is pregnant in seventy four,
- 54:35Speaker 2: that baby.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Is not Cat. That baby would be fifty one years old.
- 54:39Speaker 1: Correct the you were backwards mathing that from your own
- 54:48Speaker 1: Cat is not born for eight more years. In nineteen
- 54:52Speaker 1: ninety nine, Cat is sixteen or seventeen years old, so
- 54:57Speaker 1: she would have been born eighty three. So yeah, we're
- 55:02Speaker 1: like nineteen eighty two were we're like eight years out
- 55:05Speaker 1: from Cat being born.
- 55:06Speaker 2: So while there was some evidence that Dell was pregnant
- 55:10Speaker 2: in nineteen seventy four, the baby is not Cat.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and again they dropped these little like hints. To me,
- 55:18Speaker 1: it seemed like, oh, Delilah is pregnant, but then it's
- 55:22Speaker 1: never talked about again. Nothing. I know, there's all these
- 55:25Speaker 1: little threads that we chase and then they're nothing. Yeah,
- 55:27Speaker 1: it's just she was sick. Yeah, the showrunners are laughing
- 55:30Speaker 1: their asses at us right now. And that is a wrap.
- 55:36Speaker 1: It was a big one. I anticipate in next week's
- 55:39Speaker 1: is going to be pretty big as well.
- 55:41Speaker 2: So many questions to answer going into the finale. How
- 55:45Speaker 2: much satisfaction are we going to get? I know they're
- 55:48Speaker 2: going to leave some questions unanswered. I hope we get.
- 55:51Speaker 2: I hope we get a decent volume of questions answered.
- 55:54Speaker 1: Me too, some satisfaction pez begging.
- 55:57Speaker 2: We'll be back Friday night, five pm Pacific time with
- 56:01Speaker 2: our recap of the finale of the way home, come
- 56:05Speaker 2: back for that. Tell a friend, share these episodes. Thank
- 56:09Speaker 2: you for your emails, thank you for listening, and goodbye bye.
- 56:25Speaker 1: All right friends, before we go, just to quick heads up,
- 56:28Speaker 1: you're about to hear some ads. These little gems help
- 56:30Speaker 1: us keep the show running and the Hallmark love flowing.
- 56:33Speaker 1: So do with that info what you will, Grab a
- 56:36Speaker 1: s neack, hit the skip button, or maybe just maybe
- 56:39Speaker 1: listen in and discover your new favorite product. Bye.
