- 0:02Speaker 1: Good morning, everybody, and welcome to a brand new Furish
- 0:05Speaker 1: episode of Vowel Territory alongside Aj Pierzinski and Eric Kratz.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I'm Alana Rizzo in for Scott Braun. Do not worry, guys,
- 0:13Speaker 1: Scott Braun is back tomorrow. I am just pinch hitting
- 0:16Speaker 1: for him. I think he might be at some sort
- 0:17Speaker 1: of bodybuilding competition or something. I'm not sure what Scott's
- 0:20Speaker 1: into at the moment, but don't forget to join the
- 0:22Speaker 1: conversation hashtag ft live on Twitter, and of course you
- 0:26Speaker 1: can get your comments in the chat. Check out our
- 0:29Speaker 1: merch at foul Territory shop dot com. Good to be
- 0:32Speaker 1: with you both a lot to get to, gentlemen, so
- 0:35Speaker 1: let's charge the mounds.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Charge about.
- 0:41Speaker 1: AJ a couple of inches away from a World Series championship.
- 0:45Speaker 1: In twenty twenty five, the Toronto Blue Days have awarded
- 0:50Speaker 1: both John Schneider, their manager, and Ross Atkins their GM
- 0:54Speaker 1: an extension, so it looks like they're going to be
- 0:56Speaker 1: around Toronto for the foreseeable future. It looks like Atkins
- 1:01Speaker 1: it was extended until twenty thirty one and John Schneider
- 1:05Speaker 1: was extended until twenty twenty eight. Good move.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Here.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Absolutely, what's not to like about this move. I just
- 1:12Speaker 4: wish the only thing I don't like is that we
- 1:14Speaker 4: were just there and they could have announced it when
- 1:15Speaker 4: I was sitting next to John Schneider or Mark Schapiro,
- 1:18Speaker 4: either one. You could have told us that this was
- 1:20Speaker 4: coming down the pike. But good move for both these guys. Listen,
- 1:22Speaker 4: John Scheider was probably on the hottest seat of all
- 1:25Speaker 4: going into last year, and all he did was take
- 1:27Speaker 4: that team to Game seven and inches away from beating
- 1:29Speaker 4: Alana's Dodgers in the World Series. So I love this move.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Ross Atkins made some moves, John Schneider made some moves.
- 1:35Speaker 4: They got Vladdie extended, They went out and made some
- 1:38Speaker 4: signings this offseason Akamoto and some other things. So I
- 1:43Speaker 4: love this move. And the Blue Jays are doing exactly
- 1:46Speaker 4: what you're supposed to do as an organization. When your
- 1:48Speaker 4: team is good, you go out and you use the
- 1:50Speaker 4: money that you're making off the team and you spend
- 1:52Speaker 4: it and you reinvested in the organization. And they're doing
- 1:55Speaker 4: that to a t. So congratulations Snids and congratulations Ross Atkins.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Be there for a while, at least getting paid for
- 2:01Speaker 4: a while.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Eric It's crazy because, as AJ was just saying, it
- 2:05Speaker 1: seems like, you know, John Schneider was kind of on
- 2:07Speaker 1: the hot seat. Is he going to make it through
- 2:10Speaker 1: the rest of the season. What kind of moves is
- 2:12Speaker 1: he making? What's going on here? It's amazing e K
- 2:16Speaker 1: how winning changes everything.
- 2:18Speaker 3: H Yes, it does.
- 2:20Speaker 5: And they had been winning, and I would have said
- 2:22Speaker 5: ross Atkins was even on more of a hot seat
- 2:25Speaker 5: than Schneid's was, because he went from building a winning team.
- 2:30Speaker 5: I think he made a lot of good moves to
- 2:33Speaker 5: the fact that he didn't bring enough offense back, didn't
- 2:35Speaker 5: bring back a guy like Matt Chapman who played Platinum
- 2:38Speaker 5: Glove defense for him at third base, and like it
- 2:40Speaker 5: was pitching in defense, and then they just needed to
- 2:42Speaker 5: add a bat and they never did it last year,
- 2:46Speaker 5: and they added Anthony Santander. So essentially the players are
- 2:51Speaker 5: the ones that picked up ross Atkins on this one,
- 2:53Speaker 5: because Anthony Santander didn't even play. But the trade to me,
- 2:58Speaker 5: I think the trade for gabrielle Moreno, which looked terrible,
- 3:03Speaker 5: where they traded Gabriel Moreno to the Diamondbacks and then
- 3:06Speaker 5: he ended up going to the World Series. Blue Jay
- 3:08Speaker 5: fans were up in arms, and ross Akins stayed the path.
- 3:12Speaker 5: He knew Dalton Varshow was going to give them goal
- 3:14Speaker 5: glove defense in center field. He knew what type of
- 3:17Speaker 5: team they wanted to play around, and they extended Alejandro Kirk.
- 3:22Speaker 5: He was able to extend obviously with ownership's approval. Vladimir Guerrero.
- 3:27Speaker 5: They didn't go after bow. Is that gonna end up
- 3:30Speaker 5: hurting him?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Well?
- 3:30Speaker 5: They fill in now with Andre Semenez, another goal glover
- 3:33Speaker 5: like he built a team that is has his fingerprint
- 3:37Speaker 5: on it. Only thing I don't like about this is
- 3:41Speaker 5: he Schneids should get a longer extension. It's really not
- 3:44Speaker 5: that long of an extension for a manager, But you
- 3:47Speaker 5: know what, that's that's where we're at right now. Besides council,
- 3:51Speaker 5: very few. I guess Dave Roberts's was long also, But
- 3:55Speaker 5: besides those guys, not many guys are getting more than
- 3:57Speaker 5: two maybe like a third year option contract.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, look at Kurtsuzuki, he got one year. That shows
- 4:03Speaker 1: you the faith that Ardie Moreno has in him. But
- 4:05Speaker 1: the Angels are a disaster anyway. I would like to see.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Of course, Schneider be kind of tied to Atkins and
- 4:11Speaker 1: extend him to two thousand and thirty one. It's funny
- 4:14Speaker 1: we were talking about both of those guys, perhaps on
- 4:16Speaker 1: the proverbial hot seat, but it was just a couple
- 4:19Speaker 1: of years ago. I feel like you, guys, as you
- 4:21Speaker 1: will start with you, that we're constantly talking about the
- 4:24Speaker 1: window closing with Vladimir Geruro Junior and Dante or Bobaschet
- 4:28Speaker 1: together right. Well, obviously Vladdie is there for the long
- 4:31Speaker 1: haul and Bo is now a member of the New
- 4:35Speaker 1: York Mets. What do you think was the biggest change
- 4:40Speaker 1: for the Blue Jays in terms of being able to
- 4:43Speaker 1: get to where they were when a couple of years
- 4:46Speaker 1: ago it seemed like they were so in flux and
- 4:48Speaker 1: here we are thinking they could have easily won the
- 4:51Speaker 1: World Series last season.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Uh, just stability, good pitching, the right moves, all of
- 4:56Speaker 4: the above. And listen, Bo's not there anymore. Fine, they
- 5:00Speaker 4: have Jimenez, they have a Kamoto, they have other things.
- 5:03Speaker 4: You know, David Schneider, Ernie Cleman has stepped up for him,
- 5:08Speaker 4: right so, But I think for some reason when they
- 5:10Speaker 4: signed Bo to that extension, it just changed everything in
- 5:13Speaker 4: this organization. The fan base, settled down and said, oh
- 5:15Speaker 4: we got at least we have Vlad forever. It gave
- 5:18Speaker 4: the organization confidence, and I think it just took them
- 5:21Speaker 4: to that next level that the Vlad signing, along with
- 5:24Speaker 4: the pitching now you know, Gosman, Bassett, Sures or Beaver,
- 5:27Speaker 4: all the moves that they made along the way all
- 5:29Speaker 4: helped you Savage coming up and being a stud I think.
- 5:32Speaker 4: But the Vlad contract is what started it off and
- 5:35Speaker 4: got this thing rolling in the right direction. And now listen,
- 5:38Speaker 4: they're expected to make the playoffs again like they did
- 5:40Speaker 4: last year. I just think it was the Vlad extension
- 5:44Speaker 4: that got all this rolling. And now Schneider's off the
- 5:46Speaker 4: hot seed, Atkins off the hot seed, and they can
- 5:49Speaker 4: just go do their job, which they've done fairly well
- 5:51Speaker 4: because they have made the playoffs a lot lately.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I think. Yeah.
- 5:54Speaker 5: I think it's one of those things too that people say, well,
- 5:57Speaker 5: then everybody should extend the certain guy. Well, not that
- 6:01Speaker 5: there was a cloud hanging over the fact that Vladdie
- 6:04Speaker 5: would have been a free agent, but just the fact
- 6:07Speaker 5: that it gives some type of stability to the fact that,
- 6:12Speaker 5: you know, maybe there was some pressure taken off of
- 6:14Speaker 5: George Springer, we don't know health wise all this stuff.
- 6:17Speaker 5: George Springer had an incredible year after having some down
- 6:19Speaker 5: years and making that contract look like whoa, this is
- 6:23Speaker 5: legit while also adding his leadership. Alijnd Kirk ended up
- 6:27Speaker 5: getting extended. Does Alijandra say yay or nay to that
- 6:32Speaker 5: contract extension without Vladdie there?
- 6:34Speaker 3: We'll never know.
- 6:35Speaker 5: Does Dylan Ce say yes, I want to sign with Vladimir?
- 6:40Speaker 5: Where you know where Vladimir Guerrero is going to be
- 6:42Speaker 5: for a while. He's a transcendent type of star for
- 6:46Speaker 5: the Blue Jays. Would he have been the same type
- 6:47Speaker 5: of star for another team? I don't know, but I
- 6:50Speaker 5: think there's rare times when a guy who was born
- 6:55Speaker 5: in Canada because his dad was playing in Montreal, drafted
- 6:59Speaker 5: by the Blue Jays, came up through the system, had
- 7:01Speaker 5: some you know, flashes of really incredible superstar years, and
- 7:06Speaker 5: then you extend him. I think the Blue Jays kind
- 7:08Speaker 5: of took a little bit of a gamble hoping that
- 7:11Speaker 5: he was going to be the guy that they thought
- 7:12Speaker 5: he was, and then you just saw you saw him
- 7:15Speaker 5: really take off in the playoffs. You almost hope he
- 7:18Speaker 5: has a better year this year than he did last
- 7:20Speaker 5: year during the regular season, because he's like, WHOA, I
- 7:24Speaker 5: can really lock in during the playoffs?
- 7:26Speaker 3: Can I do that? For one hundred and sixty two?
- 7:28Speaker 5: If that's the case, you're talking about Vladdie as an
- 7:32Speaker 5: MVP type of candidate for the next four or five
- 7:36Speaker 5: years in a row. And that extension gives them a
- 7:39Speaker 5: lot more stability along with the rest of the lineup saying, hey,
- 7:44Speaker 5: you know what, we're going to have this identity, and
- 7:47Speaker 5: that identity was low, strikeout, lots of contact and see
- 7:52Speaker 5: what happens, and everybody saw it.
- 7:55Speaker 6: Aj Baseball season is finally here, and there's nothing like

- 8:56Speaker 1: I don't know if it was a recency bias, but
- 8:58Speaker 1: last year's World Series was the World Series I've ever seen.
- 9:01Speaker 1: It's exactly what you wanted. Game seven, coming down to
- 9:04Speaker 1: the last thing. A j are the Toronto Blue Jays
- 9:07Speaker 1: the team to beat in the American League? Who is
- 9:10Speaker 1: better than them right now on paper going into this season?
- 9:17Speaker 4: Honestly, I mean the Mariners would make the case. The
- 9:20Speaker 4: Yankees would make the case just because they had the
- 9:22Speaker 4: same amount of wins last year. But I think the
- 9:25Speaker 4: Blue Jays if they everything, I can't. This is what's
- 9:28Speaker 4: funny about baseball. Everything lines up. Everyone stays healthy, right,
- 9:32Speaker 4: It's like, yeah, it's always if everyone stays healthy.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I mean I think the Yankees, Blue Jays and Mariners.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Are probably the pride of the of the American League
- 9:40Speaker 4: for me, and I think you right now, because the
- 9:42Speaker 4: Blue Jays are the way they played in the postseason,
- 9:44Speaker 4: you'd have to put them number one.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I agree, They're not the only ones in terms of
- 9:48Speaker 1: Russ Atkins and John Schneider Eric that got an extension. Recently,
- 9:52Speaker 1: the Phillies have also extended Christopher Sanchez. This is not
- 9:56Speaker 1: his first extension either, they extended him back in twenty
- 9:59Speaker 1: twenty two, but good on him. His new deal essentially
- 10:01Speaker 1: has the Phillies picking up his old club options in
- 10:05Speaker 1: twenty and twenty nine and two thirty tomes are Lucky, who,
- 10:08Speaker 1: of course covers the Phillies plus adding thirty million per
- 10:11Speaker 1: season in thirty one and thirty two and a thirty
- 10:14Speaker 1: three club option worth forty four and a half million dollars.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Interesting ek because the Phillies didn't have to do this
- 10:22Speaker 1: at that time, but they did. What do you make
- 10:25Speaker 1: in the move?
- 10:27Speaker 5: I mean, I think I think if both if both
- 10:31Speaker 5: parties are amicable in this, like if Christopher Sanchez says yes,
- 10:35Speaker 5: I would love that that is thirty million is less
- 10:38Speaker 5: than you know a lot of pitchers that some people
- 10:41Speaker 5: say today I'm better than then he saying, okay, I'll
- 10:47Speaker 5: take a little bit off the table for the guarantee
- 10:49Speaker 5: that I get this money. So I love it for
- 10:53Speaker 5: I love it for Christopher Sanchez. I love that he
- 10:57Speaker 5: was able to you know, really his first full season
- 11:02Speaker 5: of not being like in flux.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Even in twenty four.
- 11:07Speaker 5: There was talk Clowd, you know, you don't know where
- 11:09Speaker 5: he's gonna fit in in a rotation. He definitely has
- 11:11Speaker 5: solidified his spot in a rotation, but he was coming
- 11:14Speaker 5: off with twenty three where he had you know, he
- 11:17Speaker 5: had some time where it was like rotation triple a bullpen.
- 11:22Speaker 5: And so his career in the big leagues, while he
- 11:24Speaker 5: has some years of service, is kind of young as
- 11:27Speaker 5: a solidified guy on this rotation, and so for him,
- 11:32Speaker 5: it's like, sure, that's a recency bias for him. He's like,
- 11:36Speaker 5: he's thinking, I remember what he was like to get
- 11:38Speaker 5: sent down in twenty twenty two, in twenty twenty three
- 11:42Speaker 5: and say well, I don't think I deserved it, and
- 11:44Speaker 5: now they're dangling thirty million dollars out there for you
- 11:47Speaker 5: per year. I think it's a I think it's a
- 11:49Speaker 5: great move for him, and I think it's also a
- 11:52Speaker 5: good move for the Phillies because you see what if
- 11:54Speaker 5: he becomes that ace, that the money that he could
- 11:59Speaker 5: come in, you know you're gonna have to and you
- 12:02Speaker 5: need an ace because Nola's getting older. Wheeler's contracts ending
- 12:07Speaker 5: and he said he's not playing after this contract. You
- 12:09Speaker 5: don't know what Andrew Paynter is going to be. Jesus
- 12:11Speaker 5: Lozarda has already extended. So you have two really good
- 12:14Speaker 5: lefties that have some stability because they know if they
- 12:18Speaker 5: get hurt, they're still paid. But the Phillies also know
- 12:21Speaker 5: they have two really good lefties in their rotation for
- 12:23Speaker 5: a while.
- 12:24Speaker 1: AJ resident GM on foul Territory Jim Bowden said that
- 12:28Speaker 1: this is setting a horrible precedent because the Phillies didn't
- 12:31Speaker 1: need to do it at this time. He tweeted that
- 12:33Speaker 1: the way that the Phillies reworked the contract of Sanchez
- 12:36Speaker 1: sets a horrible precedent for teams. Great for Sanchez, to
- 12:39Speaker 1: Ek's point, generous of the Phillies, but now a player
- 12:42Speaker 1: that has far outperformed has agreed upon contract might ask
- 12:45Speaker 1: his club to do the same. SXM eighty nine top
- 12:48Speaker 1: of the r that's he is promoting his show. But anyway,
- 12:51Speaker 1: the point is, do you agree with Jim that this
- 12:54Speaker 1: is a terrible precedent. I mean, obviously team friendly to
- 12:57Speaker 1: a certain extent. However, it's good for the player to
- 13:01Speaker 1: get that security, get the bag when you can. What
- 13:04Speaker 1: do you make of it?
- 13:06Speaker 2: Why is this bad?
- 13:07Speaker 4: This is bad for Jim Bowden because he was a
- 13:09Speaker 4: former GM and he wants every team to get a
- 13:11Speaker 4: cheap deal. But man, good for the Phillies for recognizing
- 13:14Speaker 4: a guy that they won in their rotation for the
- 13:16Speaker 4: next how many ever years and they get it done.
- 13:20Speaker 4: I don't understand how this is bad for anyone other
- 13:22Speaker 4: than I don't know who this is bad for other
- 13:25Speaker 4: than other.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Gms, But that's their own problem.
- 13:27Speaker 4: If they got a guy that wants to do this
- 13:28Speaker 4: on their organization, then go do this.
- 13:30Speaker 2: And you have an owner that's willing to do this.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I don't ever understood this.
- 13:34Speaker 4: This guy just signed a deal for you know, that
- 13:36Speaker 4: sets his family up for the rest of his life
- 13:38Speaker 4: and his family's family up for the rest of their life.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Why is this bad? This is good? This is what
- 13:43Speaker 2: we want in baseball.
- 13:44Speaker 4: We want guys that will stay with an organization for
- 13:49Speaker 4: a long time. Guess what the Phillies just guarantee Christopher
- 13:52Speaker 4: Sanchez if he wants to be a Philadelphia Philly to
- 13:54Speaker 4: what twenty thirty two, twenty thirty three. I think it
- 13:57Speaker 4: goes to that's seven more years that they have him
- 14:00Speaker 4: locked in, and we don't know what's gonna happen with
- 14:02Speaker 4: the CBA. So Sanchez is dang, you guys are offering
- 14:04Speaker 4: this much money and the Phillies say, hey, we have
- 14:07Speaker 4: this money.
- 14:07Speaker 2: How is this bad? It's this isn't going to be
- 14:09Speaker 2: every team.
- 14:10Speaker 4: I mean, listen, if every team was going to do this,
- 14:12Speaker 4: the Pirates, the Marlins, the you know whoever, the Rockies,
- 14:15Speaker 4: they don't do these things.
- 14:16Speaker 2: But the Phillies did. So good for the Phillies.
- 14:18Speaker 4: This is good for the game, This is good for
- 14:20Speaker 4: Christopher Sanchez, and this is good for the Philly fans.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I agree with you that you mentioned. You ended there
- 14:26Speaker 1: aj with this is good for the Phillies fans. Eric,
- 14:28Speaker 1: you live in Philadelphia. You know what those fan bases like.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I mean, what is it like? What does it say
- 14:33Speaker 1: to these fans like, hey, we're willing to spend the
- 14:35Speaker 1: money and keep arguably our race in a Phillies uniform
- 14:39Speaker 1: for the next six seven years.
- 14:41Speaker 5: It says that they're not just willing to do it
- 14:44Speaker 5: for a little while. They've been willing to spend the
- 14:46Speaker 5: money for a minute now, you know, ever since they
- 14:49Speaker 5: brought in Harper, then Castianos, then Schwarber, then Trey Turner,
- 14:53Speaker 5: like it was like almost Boba Schett. This offseason, the
- 14:57Speaker 5: Phillies are in a spending mode. Middleton. Middleton is an
- 15:01Speaker 5: owner who wants a ring, and he's he's willing to
- 15:05Speaker 5: go out there and continue to spend. This signifies that
- 15:08Speaker 5: the fact that they went and extended Hayes, Loose Lozardo
- 15:11Speaker 5: not that long after Ranger Suarez, who was a successful
- 15:14Speaker 5: pitcher for the Phillies, signed and exten signed a contract
- 15:18Speaker 5: with the Red Sox. They got Hayes, Louiselizardo locked up,
- 15:21Speaker 5: Now they have Christopher Sanchez locked up. Philly fans are
- 15:24Speaker 5: gonna say, Okay, we're gonna still have pitching. Yeah, some
- 15:28Speaker 5: of these some of these stars are gonna age. Trey
- 15:30Speaker 5: Turner's gonna age. Bryce Harper is going to age. They
- 15:33Speaker 5: are the two with the really the longest contracts, So
- 15:36Speaker 5: it shows Philly fans that they're not just going to
- 15:39Speaker 5: take an abrupt twoenty thirteen hiatus from making the playoffs, like, ah,
- 15:46Speaker 5: we just can't you know, we have all these aging stars.
- 15:48Speaker 5: We're not gonna make any moves. And then they brought
- 15:51Speaker 5: in some some guys in the front office that, in
- 15:53Speaker 5: my opinion, made some brutal moves that that set the
- 15:58Speaker 5: organization back. But I think John Middleton is saying, this
- 16:02Speaker 5: is what's going to be the future outlook for the Phillies,
- 16:06Speaker 5: and we're going to continue to try to win by
- 16:08Speaker 5: spending money, and Philly fans are going to continue to
- 16:11Speaker 5: pack the seats. Hey, if you hit the age where
- 16:14Speaker 5: everything feels a little bit more difficult the jim yes,
- 16:18Speaker 5: but everything like energy crashes in the afternoon.
- 16:23Speaker 6: You know, you might have been reading about low T
- 16:26Speaker 6: and you see your doctor about it and they want
- 16:28Speaker 6: to give you basically shots every week for the rest
- 16:31Speaker 6: of your life. Oh cool, that sounds fun. And then
- 16:34Speaker 6: you dig deeper and you realize what you're signing up for,
- 16:36Speaker 6: and it's three grand a year to shut down your

- 17:19Speaker 1: The regular season opener is just days away. It's a
- 17:22Speaker 1: night game, the New York Yankees the San Francisco Giants.
- 17:25Speaker 1: We don't have to have another weekend, gentlemen without Major
- 17:28Speaker 1: League Baseball. That counts a couple of names I wanted
- 17:32Speaker 1: to talk to you about in terms of players being
- 17:34Speaker 1: optioned to at least begin the regular season. First of all,
- 17:39Speaker 1: any surprises that perhaps stick out to you, EK will
- 17:41Speaker 1: start with you. Dylan Cruz, Bryce Eldridge, Hisan Kim, Christian
- 17:45Speaker 1: Campbell of the Socks. Anybody kind of stick out.
- 17:47Speaker 3: To you, come in. I'm gonna take the easiest one.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Connor Griffin.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Connor Griffin, Yeah, that's.
- 17:53Speaker 3: That's not fair.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Like to me, while he may not have had the
- 17:57Speaker 5: spring training that they wanted them to have wanted to have,
- 18:01Speaker 5: you look into his numbers and you go, okay, like
- 18:04Speaker 5: what if he had hit four hundred, would this have
- 18:06Speaker 5: been different? Would this have been a you know, would
- 18:09Speaker 5: they have sent him? And then the question would have been, well,
- 18:12Speaker 5: who cares what he hit in spring training? So when
- 18:14Speaker 5: you bring up stats, I just have a hard time saying, okay,
- 18:18Speaker 5: like he should have made the team or he shouldn't
- 18:20Speaker 5: have made the team. To me, the question has to
- 18:23Speaker 5: be the Pirates clearly want to win. The Pirates went
- 18:27Speaker 5: out and they added offense. They didn't add offense for
- 18:30Speaker 5: like five six year transition here, No, they added offense
- 18:35Speaker 5: for this season and possibly next season. And so is
- 18:39Speaker 5: Connor Griffin better than Nick Gonzalez Triolo at short like
- 18:44Speaker 5: whatever that's going to be at shortstop? Is he one
- 18:46Speaker 5: of the best nine guys that they can put out there?
- 18:48Speaker 5: And if he is, to me, I think he should
- 18:51Speaker 5: have been on this roster. And I hope it's nothing else.
- 18:54Speaker 5: I hope there's nothing else that you know went into
- 18:57Speaker 5: this decision. But to me, if they don't believe that,
- 19:02Speaker 5: then who cares what he did in spring training?
- 19:05Speaker 3: Tell him beforehand?
- 19:06Speaker 5: Hey, you know what, we don't see you as somebody
- 19:08Speaker 5: that's ready to be in the big biges.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Are you talking about just the manipulation of the contract
- 19:12Speaker 1: in terms of that type of thing? Is that what
- 19:14Speaker 1: you mean are you talking about? I mean, it's a
- 19:15Speaker 1: lot to put on a nineteen year old though, right AJ.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I mean, well, Eric, let me allow you to finish
- 19:20Speaker 1: your thought there. I mean, what do you mean by that?
- 19:23Speaker 1: You hope that?
- 19:23Speaker 5: I just mean, like, I hope there wasn't contract extension
- 19:27Speaker 5: talks that weren't agreed upon. I hope there wasn't, you know,
- 19:30Speaker 5: some type of service manipulation so they can have him
- 19:34Speaker 5: for another year. I hope there wasn't some of the
- 19:37Speaker 5: old tricks that I think have kind of been mitigated
- 19:40Speaker 5: against because of well it's in the CBA, I think things.
- 19:45Speaker 5: You know, there's incentives to call up the best players.
- 19:49Speaker 5: I just hope there's not something else something like that
- 19:52Speaker 5: going on that's like, oh, man, like really like he's
- 19:55Speaker 5: not obviously I don't see him every day. But I
- 19:58Speaker 5: also don't sit there and go, oh, the Pirates, they
- 20:01Speaker 5: make so many good moves. We talked to Babba Chandler.
- 20:04Speaker 5: They called him up. He was a starter's entire career
- 20:06Speaker 5: and they call him up to throw out of the bullpen.
- 20:08Speaker 5: And he kind of hinted like, oh, he's got to
- 20:10Speaker 5: earn it. He was kind of told that he's got
- 20:12Speaker 5: to earn it.
- 20:13Speaker 3: What. No, he's a starter. He's going to be a
- 20:16Speaker 3: starter for you for a long time. What are you doing?
- 20:19Speaker 5: So I go into the situation going, is this everything?
- 20:23Speaker 5: Are we getting all the information? Because I could care
- 20:25Speaker 5: less about spring training stats.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I agree with that, Aj. Is it too much to
- 20:30Speaker 1: ask of a nineteen year old kid to come up?
- 20:33Speaker 1: I mean, you met him, you talked to him when
- 20:35Speaker 1: you were at Pirates camp. Is the maturity there? What
- 20:38Speaker 1: do you make of him starting the season at least
- 20:40Speaker 1: to begin with in Triple A.
- 20:43Speaker 4: I think the Pirates needed to put him as their
- 20:45Speaker 4: shortstop and opening a shortstop. I mean, I've said that,
- 20:49Speaker 4: I'll be on the record saying that I think that
- 20:52Speaker 4: this is not a Chris Bryant situation for me, this
- 20:55Speaker 4: is a I don't know why he's not their starting shortstop.
- 20:58Speaker 2: If he's going to be their Listen, and here's what's
- 21:00Speaker 2: going to happen.
- 21:00Speaker 3: We all know this.
- 21:01Speaker 4: He goes, he's going to go down to Triple A,
- 21:03Speaker 4: more than likely it's going to be freezing. He's going
- 21:05Speaker 4: to get off to a decent start in a month,
- 21:06Speaker 4: then they're going to call him up, and then they're
- 21:08Speaker 4: going to say it wasn't service time manipulation. It was
- 21:10Speaker 4: he just needed to get better because he hit one
- 21:12Speaker 4: eighty in spring training. I don't care about the spring
- 21:14Speaker 4: training stats. If the Pirates are really trying to make
- 21:16Speaker 4: a run and trying to win their division and trying
- 21:19Speaker 4: to make the playoffs like they say they are, for me,
- 21:21Speaker 4: Connor Griffin should be on the team.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Okay, fair enough. Anybody else, Guys that kind of stands
- 21:25Speaker 1: out to you, I'll read the list.
- 21:27Speaker 5: I don't.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I don't expect you to have it off the top
- 21:28Speaker 1: of your head. Christian Campbell of the Red Sox. This
- 21:30Speaker 1: is a kid eka that they gave a pretty decent
- 21:33Speaker 1: extension to. It was like forty million or something a
- 21:36Speaker 1: couple of years ago, and he is starting the season
- 21:39Speaker 1: in Triple A. Jason Domingez, the Martian Justinson Garcia also
- 21:46Speaker 1: of the Pirates. Anybody else, stick out.
- 21:48Speaker 5: To you one thing more with Connor Griffin before you
- 21:52Speaker 5: go there, because Christian Campbell he signed a eight year,
- 21:55Speaker 5: sixty million dollars deal just in spring training last year
- 21:59Speaker 5: and now he's changed positions and he's back in Triple A.
- 22:02Speaker 5: To me with Connor Griffin too, he's going down to
- 22:06Speaker 5: Triple A to do what nothing against Triple A pitchers.
- 22:09Speaker 5: I played in Triple A for a long time. The
- 22:10Speaker 5: best pitching you're gonna see is gonna be in April,
- 22:13Speaker 5: because there's guys that are like, oh, we don't know
- 22:15Speaker 5: we have a spot forty man, blah blah blah. You're
- 22:18Speaker 5: gonna see better pitching, but in general, you're gonna see
- 22:22Speaker 5: ninety to ninety four aw rs and you're just going
- 22:27Speaker 5: to get guys throwing out of the bullpen that may
- 22:29Speaker 5: throw ninety six to ninety eight. You don't know where
- 22:32Speaker 5: it goes. You don't control the zone very well, and
- 22:35Speaker 5: you you build up numbers or if he doesn't do well,
- 22:39Speaker 5: so to me, it doesn't look good for Conor Griffin.
- 22:42Speaker 5: So yes, can he develop? Yes, you can learn. You
- 22:45Speaker 5: can learn a lot of things if you have like
- 22:46Speaker 5: veteran guys that are there that can help him make
- 22:49Speaker 5: that transition. But it just seems it seems like I
- 22:52Speaker 5: watch for a team that wants to win. But back
- 22:54Speaker 5: to the list, back to the list. I have to
- 22:58Speaker 5: pull the list back up. But to me, it's it's
- 23:01Speaker 5: Jason Dominguz, Jason Domingaz. If you go by numbers, you
- 23:05Speaker 5: go wholl This guy had an incredible spring training as
- 23:08Speaker 5: a player. You're sitting there going, I had an incredible
- 23:11Speaker 5: spring training. So did I really have never have a shot?
- 23:14Speaker 5: As soon as they brought Cody Bellinger back in, who
- 23:17Speaker 5: was a late sign right before camp, Like, is that
- 23:21Speaker 5: when you know my ticket to Triple A was?
- 23:23Speaker 3: Pitt was punched.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Because Jason Domingaz his his issues. His issues were he
- 23:30Speaker 5: couldn't hit right handed. Okay, he he got quite a
- 23:35Speaker 5: few at bats against lefties. He did well. So the
- 23:38Speaker 5: numbers are there, Like what does that mean? The biggest
- 23:41Speaker 5: thing is he's never really had setbacks in the sense
- 23:45Speaker 5: that you know, he was the Martian he got a
- 23:49Speaker 5: record signing bonus. They thought he was gonna be the
- 23:51Speaker 5: next Mickey Man or even our own pinstriped territory. Derek
- 23:55Speaker 5: Lewandowski was like, oh my gosh, Jason Domingoz is gonna
- 23:59Speaker 5: be unbelieved. Reality is, you have to do it in
- 24:02Speaker 5: the big leagues, and when you're in the bright stage
- 24:04Speaker 5: of New York, you don't get four hundred at bats
- 24:07Speaker 5: to figure it out. And we swing it back to
- 24:09Speaker 5: Connor Griffin. The Pirates can give Connor Griffin four hundred
- 24:12Speaker 5: at bats to figure it out, and that's where he
- 24:14Speaker 5: should be figuring it out in the big leagues.
- 24:18Speaker 2: For me, it's still in Cruise.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Dylan Cruz was about the second pick overall in the
- 24:21Speaker 4: draft a couple of years ago out LSU behind Paul Skeans.
- 24:24Speaker 4: And he's ever hitting the big leagues and from what
- 24:25Speaker 4: I've heard from people, he won't make adjustments. There's adjustments
- 24:28Speaker 4: that need to be made. They brought in different hitting coaches,
- 24:31Speaker 4: they brought in more of a drive line attitude to him,
- 24:33Speaker 4: and he needs to Maybe they're talking about making him
- 24:36Speaker 4: swing changes and this and that, and he hasn't done that,
- 24:39Speaker 4: and he has been He's the one Christian Campbell. He's
- 24:41Speaker 4: never making this team. So that's not a disappointment. He's
- 24:43Speaker 4: got his money. That's why you signed these extensions because
- 24:46Speaker 4: if it doesn't work out, you still have sixty million
- 24:47Speaker 4: dollars in the bank, right But for me, it's still
- 24:51Speaker 4: and Cruse. Dylan Cruz was supposed to be the guy
- 24:53Speaker 4: who was the face of the Nats franchise going forward,
- 24:55Speaker 4: and it hasn't worked out.
- 24:56Speaker 2: It's become James Wood and c. J. Abrams. So for me,
- 24:59Speaker 2: it's still in Cruise.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean real quick on Cruz.
- 25:04Speaker 5: I think it's part of a generation of players that
- 25:07Speaker 5: have said, you know what, the organizations go, Yeah, Triple
- 25:11Speaker 5: A is not as good, We're gonna call you up
- 25:13Speaker 5: to the big leagues. And you're talking about like Hall
- 25:15Speaker 5: of famers that got called up to the big leagues
- 25:17Speaker 5: without any minor league time, and you know, right around
- 25:20Speaker 5: the league. Now you're talking about Dylan Cruise, Wyatt Langford.
- 25:26Speaker 5: Obviously Paul Schemes is working out, it's gonna be He's
- 25:29Speaker 5: gonna be legit. But very rarely do you not need
- 25:33Speaker 5: some seasoning in the big in the minor leagues. So
- 25:35Speaker 5: I'm kind of contradicting what I said about Connor Griffin
- 25:38Speaker 5: when I say that, But there's like there's history that
- 25:42Speaker 5: like it takes a little bit to Not everybody has
- 25:45Speaker 5: the same trajectory just because they were awesome in college.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I think it depends too on what your big league
- 25:50Speaker 1: club is. There's certain guys that are going to toil
- 25:53Speaker 1: away in the minor league because there's people blocking them
- 25:55Speaker 1: in the big leagues. There's no reason Connor Griffin shouldn't
- 25:57Speaker 1: be the starting shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates to start
- 26:00Speaker 1: twenty twenty six.
- 26:02Speaker 6: This is it Kratz opening weekend of the season. And
- 26:06Speaker 6: if you're looking for tickets for an MLB game and
- 26:08Speaker 6: they're either sold out or you're just a little bit
- 26:11Speaker 6: lost and you need some help, see Geek is there
- 26:14Speaker 6: for you. It's not just a spot where you buy
- 26:16Speaker 6: the tickets. Is where you feel good about buying the
- 26:19Speaker 6: tickets because they have your back with their features.
- 26:22Speaker 5: And you know you're going to get a good price.
- 26:24Speaker 5: That's that's the deal that everybody's looking for. But especially
- 26:27Speaker 5: early in the season up here in the Northeast, you
- 26:30Speaker 5: kind of want to go to a day game where
- 26:31Speaker 5: you're still going to be in the sun. It might
- 26:33Speaker 5: shift during the summer, but hey, you know what, Seeke
- 26:35Speaker 5: will let you know exactly where you're sitting and if
- 26:38Speaker 5: it's a good spot to watch the game.
- 26:39Speaker 6: That's right. Each ticket is rated on a scale of
- 26:42Speaker 6: one to ten, so you know you're getting a good deal.
- 26:43Speaker 6: So look for the green dots. Green means good, red
- 26:45Speaker 6: means bad. And of course we have a code for you.
- 26:48Speaker 6: You can use code Territory ten for ten percent off
- 26:51Speaker 6: your next set of tickets at Sea Geek. That's ten
- 26:53Speaker 6: percent off any tickets with promo code Territory one zero.
- 26:57Speaker 6: Make sure you click the link in the description to
- 26:58Speaker 6: download the app and have the would automatically added to
- 27:01Speaker 6: your account so you can use it later.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Look out, guys, you never know when you're gonna get
- 27:13Speaker 1: whacked in the face with the bat. Look at this
- 27:15Speaker 1: on deck circle near accident. This freaked me out when
- 27:18Speaker 1: I saw this the first time. So Paul de Young
- 27:19Speaker 1: is swinging right, he's basically timing the picture. In the
- 27:22Speaker 1: on deck circle, Jason Dimingez comes out of the dugout
- 27:25Speaker 1: and the Marsian almost gets drilled by a bat. Scary,
- 27:31Speaker 1: scary right.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Glad he had an appercut. Glad he was working on
- 27:35Speaker 5: getting that back hip into it, because had he gone
- 27:38Speaker 5: straight level swing, Jason Dimingez.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Would have been cooked.
- 27:43Speaker 2: He wanted to.
- 27:44Speaker 3: He wanted to.
- 27:45Speaker 5: He wanted to get on that first bus back. There's
- 27:47Speaker 5: usually first buses back, or there's you know, a ride. Oh,
- 27:51Speaker 5: I gotta get back to I gotta get back to
- 27:54Speaker 5: Tampa kind of thing.
- 27:55Speaker 3: He goes rolling out of there. That could have been
- 27:58Speaker 3: just sent down.
- 27:59Speaker 1: That is Uh, that's one way to get on the
- 28:02Speaker 1: early bus. I've been hit on a baseball field five times,
- 28:06Speaker 1: four with the ball, one with the bat. Two of
- 28:09Speaker 1: the balls that hit me hit me in the head,
- 28:11Speaker 1: one was in the back, one was on the hand,
- 28:13Speaker 1: and then I got hit with Carlos Gonzalez's bat on
- 28:17Speaker 1: the left side. Have you guys, I mean, you're pitch
- 28:21Speaker 1: your catchers, so you're constantly getting hit in the face
- 28:24Speaker 1: and the mask and all the things. But have you
- 28:26Speaker 1: almost been hit by a like how many times you've
- 28:28Speaker 1: been hitting in the head with the backswing.
- 28:31Speaker 4: I mean it happened a lot. I mean not a lot,
- 28:33Speaker 4: but it happened. It happened a few times a year. Yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 4: it wasn't that stuff happens. I've seen a guy actually
- 28:39Speaker 4: seen a guy get hit in the face. I don't,
- 28:41Speaker 4: I don't. I actually did see a guy get hit
- 28:44Speaker 4: in the face by a bat. I forget who it was,
- 28:46Speaker 4: but I did see that happen, and it wasn't good.
- 28:48Speaker 4: They broke their I don't want to say they broke
- 28:49Speaker 4: their nose or bust at their lip or something. So
- 28:51Speaker 4: I actually have seen this happen. It was It was crazy.
- 28:54Speaker 4: It was kind of the same thing. They weren't paying
- 28:56Speaker 4: attention and the guy swung and didn't realize with someone
- 29:00Speaker 4: behind him and hit them. It happens. It's not good,
- 29:03Speaker 4: but yeah, this stuff happens. It's scary world out there.
- 29:06Speaker 4: Be careful. You gotta, as I tell my son, you
- 29:08Speaker 4: gotta have situational awareness on what's going down.
- 29:10Speaker 2: I make sure.
- 29:11Speaker 4: I mean every time there was anyone with a bad
- 29:12Speaker 4: I was always walking around like And that's why.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I'm glad that they did put the nets up. I
- 29:17Speaker 1: know ek people had differing opinions of putting nets up
- 29:21Speaker 1: along the baselines, but there's so many people that go
- 29:23Speaker 1: to games that are not paying attention to what's happening
- 29:26Speaker 1: on the field, and they have little kids down there.
- 29:29Speaker 1: They're not paying attention. There's somebody that obviously does not
- 29:31Speaker 1: have catlike reflexes that can take a screaming line drive
- 29:34Speaker 1: right to the noggin and it could kill somebody. I'm
- 29:37Speaker 1: glad that they have the nets. Have you seen anything
- 29:40Speaker 1: like that on the field, Eric, or you know, if
- 29:42Speaker 1: someone got hit with the backswing or whatever.
- 29:45Speaker 5: The video when we talked about this, the video of
- 29:47Speaker 5: Ryan Braun swinging on the top of the dugout and
- 29:51Speaker 5: he caught Jean Sigura back when they were both playing
- 29:54Speaker 5: together with the braid like the Brewers like that one was,
- 29:59Speaker 5: but I wasn't. I wasn't there live for it. So no,
- 30:01Speaker 5: I've never seen anybody get hit like that. But fans,
- 30:05Speaker 5: you talk about the nets, man, I'll never forget one.
- 30:08Speaker 5: In Indianapolis, I was playing Triple A and a mom
- 30:11Speaker 5: got hit in the side of the head and like
- 30:13Speaker 5: immediately she projectile vomited and she had her kids there,
- 30:18Speaker 5: Like it was just an awful scene that every like.
- 30:20Speaker 5: It still gives me chills to think about. But we
- 30:23Speaker 5: also talk about all your injuries. Aj got hit one
- 30:26Speaker 5: hundred and twenty nine times a lot, and you're talking
- 30:28Speaker 5: about the four times you got hit in the hand.
- 30:31Speaker 3: He got one hundred and twenty nine times. That's a
- 30:34Speaker 3: lot of baseball.
- 30:35Speaker 1: That is. That's a lot. That's a lot. And I'm
- 30:37Speaker 1: not trying to compare my injury stage. It is by
- 30:39Speaker 1: any stretch of the imagination. But I also was not
- 30:42Speaker 1: suited up and all four tiersome. Here's a fun fact
- 30:45Speaker 1: for you boys. All four times I got hit with
- 30:48Speaker 1: the ball were all in the San Francisco visiting well,
- 30:53Speaker 1: all four times. So that is a death a death track. No,
- 30:58Speaker 1: I was on the air, I mean.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Sometimes didn't like the Dodgers. They didn't like the Dodgers Rogers.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Yeah, but I was also with the Rockies too, so
- 31:06Speaker 1: it was like an NL West thing as well. But yeah,
- 31:08Speaker 1: that's crazy. Remember when Chris, my husband, got hit in
- 31:11Speaker 1: the face with the ball ninety three miles an hour
- 31:13Speaker 1: fastball he was he was playing for the Diamondbacks and
- 31:16Speaker 1: a pitcher. It was like garbage time. Diamondbacks were up
- 31:19Speaker 1: huge and this kid comes in, has no idea where
- 31:22Speaker 1: it's going, hit him right here, broke three of his teeth.
- 31:24Speaker 3: He had.
- 31:25Speaker 1: He had to cut out a huge piece of his lip.
- 31:27Speaker 1: That was That was a good time. That was a
- 31:28Speaker 1: good time. Anyway, Moving on same thing, Jeremy Meyer, our director, saying,
- 31:33Speaker 1: in here a producer. Same on the tea box. No
- 31:35Speaker 1: drivers to the Chicklets watch out, don't stand in people's backswing,
- 31:39Speaker 1: all right, Ryan Divish, who covers the Mariners. A statement
- 31:42Speaker 1: from Randy a Rosa Renna. I understand that with opening
- 31:45Speaker 1: day a few days away, I don't want it to
- 31:47Speaker 1: be a distraction call. And I have talked and I
- 31:49Speaker 1: apologize for what I said after the game. Nothing in
- 31:52Speaker 1: the WBC takes away from the fact that we are
- 31:54Speaker 1: brothers and teammates. He's family, and we are both focused
- 31:57Speaker 1: on helping the Mariners win the World Series. This comes
- 32:00Speaker 1: off of the cuff of Randy Arozarena wanting to shake
- 32:06Speaker 1: Cal Raley's hand and he said, no, nay on today.
- 32:10Speaker 1: So they've they've squashed this.
- 32:13Speaker 2: He was told to say this.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Let's be honest.
- 32:15Speaker 4: I'm sure you didn't say this out of nowhere. He
- 32:17Speaker 4: was told to say this because, again, like I said earlier,
- 32:20Speaker 4: the guys who they can trade, they can trade Randy Roserena,
- 32:23Speaker 4: guess who they ain't trading. Cal Rowlin, guess who they
- 32:27Speaker 4: I mean. Let's be honest, this is it Randy and
- 32:30Speaker 4: Cal talk. They had already talked. I don't understand why
- 32:34Speaker 4: this became such a big deal because it only became
- 32:36Speaker 4: a big deal because Randy said some things about Cal
- 32:39Speaker 4: later on that he didn't need to say after the
- 32:41Speaker 4: whole thing, and Cal told him not to do it.
- 32:44Speaker 4: He told Naylor not to do it. Now, Naylor handled
- 32:46Speaker 4: it better by making a joke out of it. Randy
- 32:48Speaker 4: then proceeded to say some bad things about Cal. I mean,
- 32:52Speaker 4: we all love Randy's personality, we all love the fun
- 32:54Speaker 4: times he has.
- 32:55Speaker 2: On the field.
- 32:56Speaker 4: But you don't, I don't care what happens. You don't
- 32:57Speaker 4: cuss out a teammate after anything.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 33:00Speaker 4: You take the team in inside the locker room and
- 33:02Speaker 4: you talk to him when you get back to Mariners camp.
- 33:05Speaker 4: You handle it internally. You don't cuss him out in
- 33:07Speaker 4: front of the world, So I think did. Randy was told, hey,
- 33:11Speaker 4: we need to squash this because even when he went
- 33:13Speaker 4: back to Marrinors camp, he kept us in going. So
- 33:15Speaker 4: it's over now. Hopefully we don't have to talk about
- 33:17Speaker 4: it again and the Mirrors can just go try to
- 33:19Speaker 4: get to the World series for the first time in
- 33:21Speaker 4: their existence.
- 33:23Speaker 6: AJ This episode is brought to you by our friends

- 33:48Speaker 2: the games on the Fox one app. You can watch

- 34:03Speaker 6: to change. Go to Fox one for complete terms and conditions.
- 34:07Speaker 6: Box one streaming now.
- 34:12Speaker 3: It will be a distraction.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Stop like they're going to play. Randy wants to play
- 34:17Speaker 5: for his free agent year. Cal is going to do
- 34:21Speaker 5: Cal things. It won't be a distraction.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Okay, this is scary. I didn't know about this. I
- 34:27Speaker 1: don't think many people knew about this, guys. But MLB
- 34:30Speaker 1: dot COM's Brian McTaggart, who covers the Houston Astros, wrote
- 34:34Speaker 1: an article that said Carlos Correa and his son nearly
- 34:39Speaker 1: drowned in a lake last summer. That's insane. He nearly
- 34:43Speaker 1: drowned on a Minnesota lake last summer. His brush with
- 34:46Speaker 1: death has brought him closer to his faith and has
- 34:49Speaker 1: given him a new calling. I promise you, this is
- 34:51Speaker 1: a quote. I promise you that if you saved me
- 34:53Speaker 1: from this one, I will serve you, and I will
- 34:55Speaker 1: serve you forever. So apparently he has started organizing aj
- 35:01Speaker 1: Bible study at his home last offseason. He's delivering a
- 35:04Speaker 1: thirty minute sermon at a retirement home in December in
- 35:06Speaker 1: front of you know, twenty to twenty five people that'll
- 35:10Speaker 1: do it. You know, when you have a brush with death,
- 35:12Speaker 1: especially when your child is involved, that's got to give
- 35:16Speaker 1: you some perspective.
- 35:17Speaker 4: No, yeah, one hundred percent. I'm never going to knock
- 35:20Speaker 4: anyone faith or what they do or good for you.
- 35:23Speaker 4: Carlos Korea, I'm sure it was a scary incident. Didn't
- 35:26Speaker 4: DJ Kali the rapper, didn't he have something like this,
- 35:29Speaker 4: have one on a jet ski and he also did
- 35:32Speaker 4: this something like this. I thought it was I thought
- 35:34Speaker 4: I saw a story about something like that where he
- 35:36Speaker 4: almost died on a jet ski and he kind of
- 35:38Speaker 4: did the same thing. So good for you, Carlos Korea.
- 35:41Speaker 4: It's weird we just now are hearing about this later almost,
- 35:44Speaker 4: you know, a year later.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Whatever.
- 35:45Speaker 4: And then also wear your life jacket. People, wear your
- 35:49Speaker 4: life jacket. Make sure you have a life jacket on.
- 35:50Speaker 4: And make sure your children, which I believe Carlos Is
- 35:52Speaker 4: did have one on. Make sure you wear your life jacket.
- 35:55Speaker 4: And there are people around that are paying attention to
- 35:57Speaker 4: what's happening in the wad.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:58Speaker 1: So Korea managed to reach booeye Ek, but slipped off
- 36:01Speaker 1: of the booy he fell under the water. This is
- 36:04Speaker 1: again according to the article by Brian McTaggart. He fell
- 36:07Speaker 1: under the water and grabbed the chain and during his
- 36:10Speaker 1: left hand with Kylo's weight on his shoulder. Kylo is
- 36:12Speaker 1: his oldest son. By the way, Koreas switched to his
- 36:14Speaker 1: right hand, then his left, and back to his right.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's terrifying. To stay above the water.
- 36:20Speaker 1: He yelled toward the boat for help. It was his
- 36:22Speaker 1: last gasp. I can't think of a more horrific death
- 36:27Speaker 1: any anything that your child is involved in, obviously, but
- 36:29Speaker 1: I can't think of a more horrific death than drowning
- 36:32Speaker 1: or perhaps being you know burned to death, but imagine
- 36:35Speaker 1: the terror in Carlos's mind, in his son's mind, and
- 36:39Speaker 1: whoever was watching. That'll make you rethink some things.
- 36:45Speaker 3: I can't.
- 36:46Speaker 5: I can't imagine it. I'm glad they're safe. I'm glad
- 36:48Speaker 5: it brought him closer to the Lord. I'm glad it
- 36:51Speaker 5: put him in a spot where he's appreciating you know,
- 36:54Speaker 5: every day that he has. And you know, as a
- 36:57Speaker 5: veteran on a team, you start making impact on different
- 37:00Speaker 5: people on your team when you're you're really intentional about everything,
- 37:07Speaker 5: intentional about your relationships. So you know, there's a positive
- 37:11Speaker 5: that came out of this, and that's it for him.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:15Speaker 1: He also talked about in the article, spoke of the
- 37:17Speaker 1: challenges you guys he endured as a player, fracturing his
- 37:20Speaker 1: ankle in two places in the minor leagues in twenty fourteen,
- 37:24Speaker 1: and how that injury later caused both the Giants and
- 37:26Speaker 1: the Mets to back out of mega deals with him.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Seven years later, he wound up signing with the Twins
- 37:31Speaker 1: after leaving the Astros at the end of the twenty
- 37:32Speaker 1: twenty one season. Obviously, he is back with the Stros.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I imagine he'd finish his career there. I'm just happy
- 37:38Speaker 1: that he's okay, and I'm happy that his son is okay.
- 37:53Speaker 1: In case you missed it, a big week for Andrew Painter.
- 37:56Speaker 1: He makes the Phillies opening day roster. He gets engaged
- 38:00Speaker 1: in the same week his fiance Shelby said, we both
- 38:03Speaker 1: got promoted this week. So good for these guys. Very
- 38:06Speaker 1: nice week for Andrew Painter and his future bride Shelby.
- 38:11Speaker 2: It's a big weekj Congratulations in.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Your in your life, that's the biggest week.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Uh week? Sure?
- 38:19Speaker 2: Sure, Like maybe.
- 38:23Speaker 1: You had a baby in the same week that you
- 38:24Speaker 1: got a hole in one. I don't know.
- 38:26Speaker 3: It's got to be some It's just kids. Just kids birth,
- 38:31Speaker 3: that's it.
- 38:32Speaker 4: It's kids kid's birth, is I mean? But then you
- 38:35Speaker 4: have more than one, so then you've got to pick
- 38:36Speaker 4: a favorite.
- 38:37Speaker 3: So sure everyone a favorite for him and then he
- 38:41Speaker 3: can pick my favorite.
- 38:43Speaker 1: That's tough though for you though, because you have three
- 38:45Speaker 1: to choose from. By the way, congratulations to Jeremy Myers
- 38:49Speaker 1: Iowa Hawk Eyes. They beat A. J. Pearson University of
- 38:53Speaker 1: Florida Gators in a thriller A J seventy three to
- 38:56Speaker 1: seventy two. What happened.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Uh, Iowa made shots when they had to. They played better.
- 39:02Speaker 4: That's usually what happens to Lona when you lose in
- 39:04Speaker 4: these games. The other team launches threes and makes them
- 39:08Speaker 4: and they play better. Congratulations Iowa.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I wouldn't know what that's like. I went through
- 39:12Speaker 1: Northy Colorado. We're never in the tournament, all right, guys,
- 39:15Speaker 1: have a great night. Scott Brom's back tomorrow. Appelad
