Today we're going to revisit something practical. Luna: Oh good, because I need a refresher. Buying chicken at the market, right? Lucas: Exactly. We covered it in Episode 110, but a little review never hurts. Let's start with the basics. Luna: So the first phrase: 'Saya mahu ayam.' That means 'I want chicken.' Lucas: Yes. 'Saya mahu ayam.' Repeat after me: Saya mahu ayam. Luna: Saya mahu ayam. Lucas: Good. Now, to ask the price per kilo: 'Berapa harga sekilo?' Say it with me: Berapa harga sekilo? Luna: Berapa harga sekilo? Lucas: Perfect. And if you want half a kilo: 'Saya mahu setengah kilo.' Let's try that. Luna: Saya mahu setengah kilo. Lucas: Great. Now, you might want to ask if the chicken is fresh: 'Ayam ini segar?' Luna: Ayam ini segar? That's 'Is this chicken fresh?' Lucas: Yes. And finally, if you want it cut: 'Boleh potong?' Luna: Boleh potong? Can you cut it? Very handy. Lucas: Exactly. Let's put it all together in a little scene. Picture yourself at the market. Luna: Okay! I'll be the customer. Lucas: And I'll be the seller. So you walk up and say: 'Saya mahu ayam.' Luna: Saya mahu ayam. Lucas: And I ask: 'Berapa harga sekilo?' No wait, I ask the price. Actually, you ask me: 'Berapa harga sekilo?' Luna: Right. Berapa harga sekilo? Lucas: I say: 'Lima belas ringgit sekilo.' Fifteen ringgit per kilo. Then you say: 'Saya mahu setengah kilo.' Luna: Saya mahu setengah kilo. Lucas: Then you can ask: 'Ayam ini segar?' Just to be sure. Luna: Ayam ini segar? Lucas: I nod and say: 'Ya, segar.' Then you ask: 'Boleh potong?' Luna: Boleh potong? Lucas: I say: 'Boleh.' And that's it. You've bought half a kilo of fresh chicken, and asked for it to be cut. Luna: That feels really doable now. I think I could actually do that.
