- 0:00Speaker 1: And finally Tapathon. Now what is a tapathon? I hear
- 0:04Speaker 1: you ask, well, tapithon Tapathon keV. Yeah, Tapathon is a
- 0:11Speaker 1: UK charity dance routine for children in need. It's an
- 0:14Speaker 1: attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the greatest
- 0:17Speaker 1: number of people performing the same tap routine at the
- 0:21Speaker 1: same time. It's not something that goes on for hours
- 0:24Speaker 1: and hours, just one song performed by tap dancers at
- 0:27Speaker 1: different venues around the country simultaneously. That's the thing. Now locally,
- 0:33Speaker 1: Kirsty Marie's dance group will be performing at Palmar School
- 0:38Speaker 1: at one o'clock on Sunday. Now, Kirsty's group consists of
- 0:41Speaker 1: six dancers, two mums and daughters. And at this point
- 0:46Speaker 1: I want to say hello to Lisa and Blossom Kelly.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I'll tell you a little bit more about that in
- 0:51Speaker 1: a minute. And of course I want to say hello
- 0:52Speaker 1: to Flow Flow Ska. They came in last year. I'll
- 0:55Speaker 1: tell you about that in a minute. And so where
- 0:58Speaker 1: were we, uh, two bums and daughters, an older lady
- 1:01Speaker 1: and Kirsty herself. Now the current world record, I think,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I hope I got this right. For all these dancers
- 1:07Speaker 1: to dance together is seven thousand, five hundred and ninety six.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Hello, they doing it all to the same song.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they are doing it all to the same
- 1:17Speaker 1: song at the same time. So you could probably be
- 1:20Speaker 1: walking anywhere in the country and think, what's that who's
- 1:22Speaker 1: banging that hammer? You know that you could hear them? Okay,
- 1:25Speaker 1: interesting anyway, KM dancers there and will be also performing
- 1:31Speaker 1: at the Folks and Christmas light Switch on on Saunday
- 1:34Speaker 1: the twenty third of November, and they're also dancing at
- 1:37Speaker 1: the Light Up Dover on Saturday the seventh and right
- 1:41Speaker 1: we were saying that. Now, Kirsty and Blossom and Flow
- 1:46Speaker 1: came into the studio last year just after they'd done
- 1:49Speaker 1: the tapathon and it was so lovely to speak to them.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So I did find out that Lisa and Blossom are
- 1:55Speaker 1: doing it again today, so good luck to them. And
- 1:58Speaker 1: we're trying to get them in again into the studio
- 2:01Speaker 1: with young children if you like, as long as they
- 2:04Speaker 1: come in with an adult. Of course, it's difficult because
- 2:08Speaker 1: we need to get them in where they're not at school,
- 2:11Speaker 1: So we're working on.
- 2:12Speaker 2: That one coming on Saturday on Saturday. Of course, visually
- 2:20Speaker 2: it won't be that brilliant but we get to do
- 2:23Speaker 2: something now.
- 2:24Speaker 1: If you want to know more about what's going on
- 2:27Speaker 1: dance wise, the user's point of contact is the km
- 2:30Speaker 1: Dance Facebook page or their Kirstymrie Dance dot co dot
- 2:34Speaker 1: uk website. They hold classes at the High Sports Pavilion
- 2:37Speaker 1: on a Friday and it's a John's Church hall focused
- 2:41Speaker 1: on on a Tuesday. Now, I'll talking to a friend
- 2:45Speaker 1: of mine this morning about this tapathon A randomly okay
- 2:49Speaker 1: to start at the beginning. Ray Mirrorbo is a friend
- 2:52Speaker 1: of mine who I went to school with many many
- 2:54Speaker 1: years ago, and we meet up sort of once a
- 2:57Speaker 1: year and have a little chat. And he's a sprightly
- 3:01Speaker 1: seventy four year old and only took up tap dancing
- 3:04Speaker 1: a couple of years ago.
- 3:06Speaker 2: And he and his.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Group, I've got this right. The Shirley Tappers and Hotfoot
- 3:11Speaker 1: Tappers are performing and there's fifteen of them in the
- 3:15Speaker 1: area in front of the public notice board for passing
- 3:18Speaker 1: passages on Victoria Station today. Yeah, I mean some of
- 3:23Speaker 1: the venues I bet there is absolutely awesome.
- 3:26Speaker 2: We'll be packed anyway.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, you could you see what you have
- 3:31Speaker 1: to do? Because I asked, I played back my interview
- 3:34Speaker 1: with Kirsty last year and what they had to do
- 3:36Speaker 1: to verify that there's so many in your class. They
- 3:41Speaker 1: have to video the amount of people on the phone
- 3:46Speaker 1: and send it off and then they get to clarify verification.
- 3:53Speaker 1: So anyway, I want to say good luck to the
- 3:56Speaker 1: group leader and Maria Taylor. You've got a lovely job
- 3:59Speaker 1: on your hands. Love to see the video this one
- 4:01Speaker 1: that Victoria Station. And by the way, Ray is having
- 4:05Speaker 1: the time of his life as he is the only
- 4:08Speaker 1: fella in the group. So yeah, sneaky about that. I'm
- 4:13Speaker 1: very nice as a chance you this morning. Okay. Now,
- 4:16Speaker 1: the thing is they all dance to one particular song
- 4:20Speaker 1: and so at around about twelve thirty this song will
- 4:25Speaker 1: be playing.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Okay, here we go. I don't even need to tell
- 4:29Speaker 2: you what it is.
- 4:30Speaker 1: You'll know
