- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I know there are three that I'm very proud of
- 0:14Speaker 2: that I think are legitimate. One is the Marconi, the
- 0:17Speaker 2: other one is the Star on the Walk of Fame,
- 0:19Speaker 2: and the other one is Radio Hall of Fame.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Those three are on my desk.
- 0:23Speaker 2: And by the way, if you ever come to my
- 0:25Speaker 2: house and I invite you in to look at the awards,
- 0:29Speaker 2: if you get near them, I'm taking a fork and
- 0:32Speaker 2: I'm jamming it into your eyeballs.
- 0:34Speaker 1: No one gets near those awards. Okay, and now handle
- 0:41Speaker 1: on the news, ladies and gentlemen. Here's Bill Handle.
- 0:47Speaker 2: It is a holiday, Wednesday, February eighteenth. Let me start
- 0:52Speaker 2: with Kno, you don't have your camera on, so I
- 0:55Speaker 2: cannot see you. So there you have me to put
- 0:59Speaker 2: a base ball cap on in a South book. Yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 2: and it's some kind of a hoodie. Yeah. I would
- 1:04Speaker 2: like that at all a lot. All right, Cono, good morning,
- 1:07Speaker 2: good morning. I'd like to see people. One of the
- 1:10Speaker 2: things about home broadcasting, or at least my home, is
- 1:14Speaker 2: I have everybody on a screen. I've explained this before,
- 1:17Speaker 2: and so I'm looking at everybody, which is actually far
- 1:19Speaker 2: better than when I'm in studio in terms of connecting
- 1:22Speaker 2: to people. For example, Will Coleschreiber is right there, and
- 1:26Speaker 2: I would never see him in studio because he's down
- 1:30Speaker 2: the hall. And so good morning, Will, good morning. And Amy,
- 1:35Speaker 2: who is in the news little closet we jokingly call
- 1:40Speaker 2: a newsroom, which I don't know how we can say
- 1:42Speaker 2: that with a straight face. And there's Amy in the
- 1:44Speaker 2: KFI newsroom. She is the I can see her, but
- 1:49Speaker 2: the glass is so glary I really can't see her.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So here it gets really easy. And then Anne and
- 1:56Speaker 2: Neil are in front of me, so it works out well. Also,
- 2:00Speaker 2: so I don't know how long, Well, let me ask
- 2:01Speaker 2: you this before we get into Will, how long does
- 2:04Speaker 2: it take you to get to work? About fifteen minutes?
- 2:06Speaker 2: Fifteen minutes, Cono, how long does it take you to
- 2:08Speaker 2: get to work? Fifty eight minutes?
- 2:10Speaker 3: Fifty eight that's a long one.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Amy fifteen, fifteen minutes, Neil two two minutes, three minutes.
- 2:20Speaker 2: If I'm you know, kind of scurry, I know, I'm
- 2:23Speaker 2: talking about when you go when you go into the studio.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Oh, when I drive into the studio, Yeah, it takes
- 2:28Speaker 4: fifteen fifteen eighteen minutes.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Okay, fair enough, and then there is and.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Good morning, good morning.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm about to say like eighteen to twenty okay,
- 2:38Speaker 2: you got, you got. They have to put the mute on.
- 2:41Speaker 2: So here's the way it works with me. I have
- 2:44Speaker 2: to drive in an hour and a half, so I don't,
- 2:49Speaker 2: I mean, I will, you know, a couple times a month,
- 2:50Speaker 2: I'll go up there for a couple of days and
- 2:53Speaker 2: say hello, hang with everybody, meet with clients, et cetera.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Otherwise, I have a thirty foot commute.
- 3:01Speaker 2: That is my idea of a commute, rolling downstairs, you know,
- 3:08Speaker 2: peeing and then hitting the stairs, and sometimes doing him simultaneously,
- 3:12Speaker 2: because I.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Get pretty good stairs when you pee. Sometimes, dude, you're
- 3:16Speaker 5: doing it wrong. Yeah, I think I am. And occasionally
- 3:20Speaker 5: lately the alarm has gone off. The arm never goes off.
- 3:23Speaker 5: All right, we're all here. We've got plenty to cover
- 3:26Speaker 5: this morning, as we always do. I don't know if
- 3:28Speaker 5: you're keeping up with the Olympics.
- 3:30Speaker 2: We're doing eh, and then eh, you know, I'm not
- 3:32Speaker 2: doing so well this time around. Also, the Nancy got
- 3:39Speaker 2: three disappearance DNA is being found. None of it was helpful,
- 3:43Speaker 2: and now they're going to the second tier. We'll talk
- 3:45Speaker 2: about that a little bit later on. And what else
- 3:49Speaker 2: is happening? Oh, of course Jim Keeney happens with us
- 3:53Speaker 2: every Wednesday. Jim back from the Olympics. Is he back yet?
- 3:57Speaker 3: Do we know he is back?
- 3:59Speaker 2: And I know he went to a few events. I
- 4:02Speaker 2: think he went to some hockey events and he went
- 4:04Speaker 2: to figure stating events. Oh. Have you looked at the
- 4:08Speaker 2: price for opening ceremonies in Los Angeles? Because I was
- 4:15Speaker 2: thinking of going to opening ceremonies because that's really what
- 4:20Speaker 2: interests me. It is it's beyond tens of thousands of
- 4:27Speaker 2: dollars for a seat. I mean, it is crazy. Amy,
- 4:31Speaker 2: you're looking right now on stub Hub.
- 4:33Speaker 6: Or any of the other tickets are available yet.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I know, but they're well, no, people, they're already sold out. Yeah,
- 4:39Speaker 2: they're already sold out. I mean they sold out instantly.
- 4:42Speaker 2: So we'll see that's we look, that's what it was. Yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 2: I think so, I think so opening ceremonies not yet.
- 4:52Speaker 6: So there is an LA twenty eight website that you
- 4:55Speaker 6: can go to get in a lottery for the opportunity
- 4:58Speaker 6: to purchase tickets, and I thought that that wasn't until
- 5:01Speaker 6: next month, but I'll check.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, because I if I have a shot at
- 5:05Speaker 2: going to opening ceremonies, I'm going to do that. Because
- 5:07Speaker 2: that is a bucket list thing. There's no no question
- 5:10Speaker 2: about that.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Okay.
- 5:11Speaker 6: So if you do, you need you need to go
- 5:13Speaker 6: to the You need to go to LA twenty eight,
- 5:18Speaker 6: and you need to register to get in a lottery.
- 5:23Speaker 6: And if your name gets chosen, then you get the
- 5:25Speaker 6: opportunity to buy tickets to the events.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Oh and we don't know, and we don't know, I've
- 5:29Speaker 2: already done it. That's not how Bill works.
- 5:31Speaker 4: What he's saying is if anyone's listening, ohntcha give him tickets?
- 5:38Speaker 2: Yeah? Of course. One second. Yeah, I'm going to get
- 5:40Speaker 2: that someone. Someone is going to give me tickets. I
- 5:42Speaker 2: got news for you, buddy, It's it's going to be
- 5:44Speaker 2: harder for me to get tickets to opening ceremonies than
- 5:48Speaker 2: it was for you to get a kidney. Okay, I'm
- 5:50Speaker 2: far better off asking for a kidney. Are they still
- 5:55Speaker 2: in me and trade it for tickets? Yes? Right there
- 5:58Speaker 2: you go.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Are they still so five partial?
- 6:00Speaker 6: Yeah, it's it's so fine. And it's also at LA
- 6:03Speaker 6: memorial COLLI sanp Bill, I can put in a good word,
- 6:06Speaker 6: you can apply to work.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Would I would do that in a heartbeat. First of all,
- 6:12Speaker 3: I get kicked.
- 6:13Speaker 2: First of all, I would get kicked out instantly because
- 6:14Speaker 2: you know how it would treat people. But at the
- 6:17Speaker 2: same time, I would love to go. That means you're
- 6:19Speaker 2: probably going to work opening ceremonies, isn't it. That is exciting? Okay,
- 6:22Speaker 2: good for you, Good for you. All right, put my
- 6:25Speaker 2: name on the no I'm going to put my name
- 6:26Speaker 2: on today LA twenty eight. I'm going to do that today.
- 6:29Speaker 2: And then I'm assuming well on the secondary market is
- 6:33Speaker 2: and I don't know how many tickets are going to
- 6:35Speaker 2: be bought by the bots. I don't think any of
- 6:37Speaker 2: them at this point. I think it's going to be
- 6:39Speaker 2: a true free for all.
- 6:40Speaker 6: I think they should ban the bots on this.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I think there's a move to do that. You just
- 6:44Speaker 2: can't do it because it's that whole We've done stories
- 6:46Speaker 2: on that. That's crazy. Okay.
- 6:48Speaker 6: So the just to answer though, what the actual price
- 6:52Speaker 6: of the tickets is going to be is anywhere from
- 6:54Speaker 6: three hundred dollars for upper level seats to almost twenty
- 6:59Speaker 6: four hundred dollars for the premium seats, but that's if
- 7:01Speaker 6: you get them through through LA twenty eight.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I would pay recently, I would pay twenty four hundred
- 7:07Speaker 2: dollars in a heartbeat. I know that's pricey, but man,
- 7:09Speaker 2: how often do you ten know how often how Taylor
- 7:14Speaker 2: Swift front out row seats or third row you're paying
- 7:16Speaker 2: five thousand or eight thousand or twelve thousand dollars? Okay,
- 7:20Speaker 2: but bucket list opening ceremonies the Olympics, Yeah, you bet.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I would do that in a heartbeat. Okay, let's do it, guys,
- 7:28Speaker 2: we have some news for you. It's time for handleing
- 7:30Speaker 2: the news with Amy Neil and me lead story and
- 7:40Speaker 2: let's do it. Nancy got three update the DNA results.
- 7:43Speaker 2: They did get DNA from those gloves. Nothing, nothing, not
- 7:48Speaker 2: into I think codex is the platform the database of
- 7:54Speaker 2: which criminals anybody's been arrested, as well as of course convicted.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Usually they go to first that no match there, and
- 8:02Speaker 2: now they're going into the secondary genealogical databases of ancestry
- 8:10Speaker 2: twenty three and meters and ancestry whatever it is, and.
- 8:13Speaker 3: So nothing goes on. You know, this reminds me of
- 8:16Speaker 3: the oj trial.
- 8:17Speaker 2: If you remember that, as the trial was going forward,
- 8:23Speaker 2: a juror was kicked off of the jury. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 8:29Speaker 2: I remember that. And he was asked because once he
- 8:32Speaker 2: was done, he was asked, oh no, I would have
- 8:35Speaker 2: voted OJ not guilty. And the reporter said, but look
- 8:40Speaker 2: at how about all the blood evidence. I am now
- 8:43Speaker 2: going to quote the jur And this goes to show
- 8:46Speaker 2: you how brilliant jurors are. Everybody gots blood. That doesn't
- 8:54Speaker 2: prove that it was OJ's blood. Everybody got blood. That
- 9:01Speaker 2: is who our zerrors are. Congratulations, the big mazles of
- 9:06Speaker 2: So there you are.
- 9:09Speaker 4: It's it's easy to cover this just as a story,
- 9:12Speaker 4: but can you imagine It's one thing that a loved
- 9:16Speaker 4: one dies suddenly or a horribly in a murder or something,
- 9:21Speaker 4: but this family to have you know, your your matriarch
- 9:28Speaker 4: absconded with kid and have no don't.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Know, no idea, Which is why when you look at
- 9:34Speaker 2: the Hamas Israel Israeli war, how big a deal they
- 9:37Speaker 2: made on the returning of the bodies for the families
- 9:40Speaker 2: to have closure. I mean they were prepared to keep
- 9:43Speaker 2: on a war because of that.
- 9:46Speaker 6: Uh varied this story is no, boy, No. A group
- 9:52Speaker 6: of skiers was doing back country skiing around Trucky up
- 9:56Speaker 6: near Lake Tahoe, and so they had been out for
- 10:00Speaker 6: like three days and they were heading back to the
- 10:03Speaker 6: trailhead yesterday morning when an avalanche happened because they've just
- 10:09Speaker 6: been pounded with snow that sent a wave of ice,
- 10:12Speaker 6: rocks and debris crashing into them. They were able to
- 10:17Speaker 6: get six people out and nine are still missing, and
- 10:21Speaker 6: it took hours for the rescue crews to even get
- 10:24Speaker 6: to where the where they were because of the weather
- 10:26Speaker 6: and that kind of stuff.
- 10:27Speaker 2: So, yeah, that is a horrific story. But let me
- 10:29Speaker 2: ask you something. Knowing what weather was coming in and Amy,
- 10:32Speaker 2: you've been talking about the weather and the storms and
- 10:34Speaker 2: the fronts that are coming in, who goes backcountry skiing
- 10:39Speaker 2: under these weather conditions up in the mountains? I truly
- 10:46Speaker 2: I don't get it. But we say that about hikers, yes,
- 10:49Speaker 2: that's true. Things like that. We say that about anybody
- 10:51Speaker 2: that doesn't eat frozen burritos and sits on the couch
- 10:55Speaker 2: all day. That is very difficult to get hurt doing that. Well,
- 10:59Speaker 2: sometimes you know, on the way to the freezer, you
- 11:01Speaker 2: can stub your toe. But for the most part, no,
- 11:06Speaker 2: all right.
- 11:07Speaker 4: We talked about this yesterday with the LAUSD board. They
- 11:11Speaker 4: approved voted to narrowly by the way, to send out
- 11:15Speaker 4: thirty two hundred notices a possible layoff. Well, it looks
- 11:18Speaker 4: like about six hundred and fifty seven layoffs are what
- 11:22Speaker 4: they're looking at.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Now.
- 11:23Speaker 4: This is all dealing with that massive budget that they
- 11:27Speaker 4: have that is just out of control. Even though they
- 11:30Speaker 4: have a current they began the school year with a
- 11:34Speaker 4: five billion dollar reserve that they say they're going to
- 11:38Speaker 4: go through that pretty much.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, Neil, I think we have to reset
- 11:41Speaker 2: your microphone out because there's golding a lot of Yeah,
- 11:45Speaker 2: am I the only one that he's hearing it or
- 11:48Speaker 2: everybody else we're hearing it to? Okay, all right, so
- 11:50Speaker 2: we'll we can't. I think he's working on it. So
- 11:55Speaker 2: we're going to be probably for a few minutes without Neil,
- 11:58Speaker 2: thank goodness.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Okay, Amy, the.
- 12:02Speaker 6: Head of Instagram taking a stand. Mark Zuckerberg is expected
- 12:06Speaker 6: to testify in LA today in that landmark case about
- 12:10Speaker 6: whether social media platforms are intentionally trying to addict children
- 12:17Speaker 6: so they can increase profits. He is expected to answer
- 12:20Speaker 6: questions about it, and about a twenty year old woman
- 12:24Speaker 6: who claims her early use of social media got her
- 12:27Speaker 6: addicted to the technology, made her depression worse and made
- 12:32Speaker 6: her have suicidal thoughts.
- 12:35Speaker 2: This, I think is going to be a tough one
- 12:37Speaker 2: for the prosecution. Of course, Zuckerberg is saying no to
- 12:42Speaker 2: any of it. And it doesn't look like there's a
- 12:44Speaker 2: smoking gun email there, I don't think so. Where you
- 12:48Speaker 2: remember the Ford case with the pintos that exploded, there
- 12:51Speaker 2: was a smoking gun email. With the Stella case with
- 12:56Speaker 2: the burnt the coffee that fell on her lap, there
- 13:00Speaker 2: was a smoking gun email Big Tobacco, there was a
- 13:04Speaker 2: smoking gun email where he had an internal email. Yep,
- 13:08Speaker 2: this is causing cancer. Is this with a jury? I
- 13:11Speaker 2: think it is okay. So now the jury has to
- 13:14Speaker 2: understand the complexity of programming a platform like this and how,
- 13:22Speaker 2: and you can bet you're going to see experts thrown
- 13:25Speaker 2: at this thing where the jury just shake their heads,
- 13:28Speaker 2: because you can confuse a jury, much like back of
- 13:31Speaker 2: the OJ case when the prosecution put on the DNA
- 13:37Speaker 2: evidence that confused everybody. No one had any idea what
- 13:41Speaker 2: was what was being said and testified to.
- 13:45Speaker 3: So We'll see what he.
- 13:46Speaker 6: Does, Zorn Mom, Donnie is not disappointing his supporters. He
- 13:54Speaker 6: wants to raise taxes. The mayor of New York City
- 13:59Speaker 6: says that he wants wants to get a millionaire's tax passed.
- 14:03Speaker 6: The problem is the governor of New York doesn't support that.
- 14:07Speaker 6: So he said, as a last resort, if he doesn't
- 14:10Speaker 6: get the millionaires tax passed, then he would like to
- 14:16Speaker 6: propose raising property taxes in New York City by nearly
- 14:19Speaker 6: ten percent.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Yeah, how about that.
- 14:23Speaker 2: And the first thing he said during that press conference
- 14:27Speaker 2: in Immortal World's World of Words and the Immortal Wars
- 14:31Speaker 2: of Karl Marx, we must tax anybody who makes more
- 14:34Speaker 2: than six thousand.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Dollars a year.
- 14:37Speaker 2: And yeah, terrific. By the way, he is certainly bringing
- 14:41Speaker 2: in the table what he said.
- 14:43Speaker 6: Oh yeah, he's doing what he said he was going
- 14:44Speaker 6: to do, tryingly, and.
- 14:45Speaker 2: He got elected. Much like President Trump, where people bitch
- 14:48Speaker 2: and moan, President Trump is bringing exactly to the table
- 14:52Speaker 2: what he said during his campaign.
- 14:55Speaker 6: So, speaking of that.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Prices haven't dropped in half.
- 15:00Speaker 6: Moving on, Yeah, so speaking of Trump, who's afraid of
- 15:03Speaker 6: the Big bad Trump? Well, maybe maybe a network is
- 15:08Speaker 6: Stephen Colbert has blasted CBS after the network killed a
- 15:12Speaker 6: planned interview with Texas Senate candidate James Tallerico. The network
- 15:16Speaker 6: cited concerns that going through with it would raise the
- 15:19Speaker 6: ire of the Trump administration. Colbert said, let's just call
- 15:23Speaker 6: it what it is. Donald Trump's administration wants to silence
- 15:26Speaker 6: anyone who says anything bad about Trump on TV because
- 15:28Speaker 6: all Trump does is watch TV.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Yeah, and you have Brendan Carr ahead of the FCC
- 15:34Speaker 2: is doing what he can to make sure that there
- 15:38Speaker 2: is there is no anti Trump sentiment being broadcast, especially
- 15:43Speaker 2: at late night, which is all anti Trump sentiment. So
- 15:46Speaker 2: he's bringing in the rule of which is equal time
- 15:53Speaker 2: rule for all candidates that are in their particular race. So,
- 15:57Speaker 2: for example, let's say you have a congress person that
- 15:59Speaker 2: is running. How hard is it to have people sign
- 16:04Speaker 2: up for the run for Congress? What is it two
- 16:07Speaker 2: hundred bucks? Four hundred dollars? And if it's sequel time,
- 16:11Speaker 2: Let's say I interview a candidate and then there are
- 16:14Speaker 2: twenty two people that sign up, and by the way,
- 16:17Speaker 2: there's probably more than that. During a race, I've got
- 16:20Speaker 2: to interview all twenty two people for the same time. Okay, yeah,
- 16:26Speaker 2: that's going to screw things up.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Hugh Hefner, who Bill had interviewed years and years and
- 16:32Speaker 4: years ago, who's now very dead. His widow has come
- 16:37Speaker 4: out this week and said that the foundation that he
- 16:40Speaker 4: set up maybe in possession of a couple of things.
- 16:43Speaker 4: One a diary that's very detailed. Gotcha, Okay, buddy, Relax everybody, Jesus.
- 16:54Speaker 3: No, because usually I get hit for that, not muting,
- 16:57Speaker 3: but this one.
- 16:58Speaker 2: He was on you yet, just me so.
- 17:02Speaker 4: That he has a diary that has detailed sex and
- 17:06Speaker 4: all kinds of stuff, But he also has these books
- 17:09Speaker 4: of photos, these books of photos.
- 17:12Speaker 2: That may have young girls that.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Were compromised with drugs and stuff like that in there,
- 17:20Speaker 4: and I guess she's trying to get them back or
- 17:24Speaker 4: keep them out of the hands of certain people.
- 17:27Speaker 2: But interesting story. Indeed, Yeah, he was pretty sexual. Obviously
- 17:31Speaker 2: Playboy was founded based on sex. Yeah, I think so.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I once interviewed Hugh Haffner, went to the Playboy mansion
- 17:38Speaker 2: actually to interview him, and he comes down at three
- 17:40Speaker 2: o'clock in his silk pajamas and robe. And at that
- 17:44Speaker 2: time he was dating someone that was twenty two years
- 17:46Speaker 2: old and he was in his seventies and I asked
- 17:50Speaker 2: him a year old man with it? I asked him, yeah,
- 17:53Speaker 2: with a twenty two year old. And I asked him
- 17:54Speaker 2: straight out, you know, how does that work? You? You know,
- 17:58Speaker 2: how does someone in their seventies day to twenty two
- 18:00Speaker 2: year old and frankly, how do you stup? And he
- 18:03Speaker 2: looked it at me and he smiled and he said Viagra.
- 18:07Speaker 2: That's the magic drug Viagra.
- 18:09Speaker 4: That's what he said. Disgusting old man with a younger woman.
- 18:14Speaker 2: With a younger woman. Yeah, fifty years younger, I might add, okay.
- 18:20Speaker 6: Gross AI for all. Microsoft says it's on track to
- 18:24Speaker 6: invest fifty billion dollars by the end of this decade
- 18:27Speaker 6: to help bring artificial intelligence to lower income countries. So
- 18:33Speaker 6: the comments came at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, India,
- 18:38Speaker 6: where leading tech executives, government officials, and AI researchers are
- 18:41Speaker 6: debating how to use AI to solve real world problems.
- 18:45Speaker 6: And they say one of the problems with AI is
- 18:48Speaker 6: that the richer company countries will adopt it quicker and
- 18:53Speaker 6: that will widen the income and development gaps between rich
- 18:56Speaker 6: and poor countries.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I mean, you go and use AI for example in
- 19:00Speaker 2: South Sudan, and you come up with fifty different recipes
- 19:04Speaker 2: to cook sand and it works out very well.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Costco an interesting recall, if you know how sometimes they
- 19:15Speaker 4: sell gift cards and things like that for restaurants. Well,
- 19:20Speaker 4: this is a recall for those very things. There's this
- 19:24Speaker 4: company that supplies them called Synergy Restaurants Gift Cards, and
- 19:29Speaker 4: if you purchased one between October twenty seventh, twenty twenty
- 19:32Speaker 4: five and January twenty sixth, twenty twenty six, they will
- 19:37Speaker 4: do something they've never done before, and that is buy
- 19:41Speaker 4: them back from you, so you can't return them normally.
- 19:43Speaker 2: But they went bankrupt, so the cards are no longer good. Right.
- 19:48Speaker 2: This is the company that the Synergy Restaurant gift cards,
- 19:52Speaker 2: and frankly Costco does not have to buy them back,
- 19:55Speaker 2: but it does anyway. This is Costco coming to the
- 19:58Speaker 2: table and the company, the third party company, Synergy, is
- 20:03Speaker 2: filing for Chapter seven, not Chapter eleven. Chapter seven is
- 20:08Speaker 2: out of business, complete liquidation of everything. Yeah, no reorganization,
- 20:13Speaker 2: no reorganization at all, which is the vast, vast majority
- 20:16Speaker 2: of bankruptcy filed by businesses more missiles.
- 20:21Speaker 6: The US plans to deploy more high tech missile systems
- 20:24Speaker 6: to the Philippines to help deter aggression in the South
- 20:28Speaker 6: China Sea. Beijing has repeatedly expressed alarm over the installation
- 20:34Speaker 6: in the northern Philippines of a US mid range missile
- 20:37Speaker 6: system and of an anti ship missile launcher, which was
- 20:41Speaker 6: already done last year. It said US weapons were aimed
- 20:45Speaker 6: at containing China's rise and warned they were a threat
- 20:48Speaker 6: to regional security.
- 20:50Speaker 2: The president tried to call the President of the Philippines
- 20:54Speaker 2: and reached the call center.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Hello, my name is Carl Soon. Can I help you?
- 20:59Speaker 2: Interesting the name of the President of the Philippines. And
- 21:04Speaker 2: this is real field. Look it up. Bong Bong Marcos.
- 21:09Speaker 2: How is that for a name? Smokes a lot of pot.
- 21:14Speaker 2: It sounds like a morning FM show.
- 21:17Speaker 6: Hey, Bong Bong and Jeered.
- 21:22Speaker 4: All right, bay or ag Now they're the company that
- 21:25Speaker 4: for sixty six billions, sixty billion. They're German conglomerate that
- 21:31Speaker 4: bought Monsanto, if you remember, well they inherited a string
- 21:34Speaker 4: of these lawsuits dealing with Roundup, you know, the weed
- 21:39Speaker 4: killer stuff. And this has been going back and forth
- 21:41Speaker 4: for for a long time. And now they're preparing to
- 21:44Speaker 4: announce a ten point five billion dollars settlement with the
- 21:47Speaker 4: hope to push to resolve this current any future cancer
- 21:51Speaker 4: lawsuits over round Up. So if this is going on,
- 21:57Speaker 4: how come you can still get round Up in? Because
- 21:59Speaker 4: I don't because they haven't pulled it yet. Because this
- 22:02Speaker 4: is a settlement. It has not been pulled by the authorities.
- 22:06Speaker 2: This is simple a civil suit between individuals and companies
- 22:10Speaker 2: against bay or age. Now they paid sixty six billion
- 22:13Speaker 2: dollars from Nsanto and inherited all of these lawsuits. Sure,
- 22:18Speaker 2: I don't know if it made any money. I don't
- 22:20Speaker 2: know what kind of a financial decision happened here, Whether
- 22:25Speaker 2: the people that bought Monsanto just bought a pig and
- 22:29Speaker 2: a poke, or it still makes money even with having
- 22:34Speaker 2: paid this much and round Up still still out there.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know of any When I think
- 22:39Speaker 2: of weed killers, I think of I think of round Up,
- 22:44Speaker 2: don't you. It's the only one I can think of exactly.
- 22:46Speaker 3: That's the point.
- 22:51Speaker 6: What happened at the ranch may not stay at the
- 22:53Speaker 6: ranch much longer. New Mexico's House of Representatives has decided
- 22:59Speaker 6: to put together a bipartisan special committee to investigate the
- 23:03Speaker 6: ranch that late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein owned in New Mexico.
- 23:08Speaker 6: They say they want to look into allegations of criminal
- 23:11Speaker 6: activity on the property known as Zoro Ranch. They said
- 23:15Speaker 6: for a lot of years there were allegations of sexual
- 23:17Speaker 6: assault and abuse at the ranch here in New Mexico,
- 23:21Speaker 6: and basically said local authorities didn't investigate, the FBI didn't investigate.
- 23:26Speaker 2: So we're going to Yeah, this has a lot to
- 23:28Speaker 2: do across the board with the Epstein case. For years,
- 23:31Speaker 2: the FBI knew about the complaints and did nothing, and
- 23:35Speaker 2: now we're looking at New Mexico. It's I tell you,
- 23:40Speaker 2: Fstein got a pass across the board and I don't
- 23:43Speaker 2: understand why.
- 23:45Speaker 3: And I saw the Olympic news go, I'm sorry.
- 23:47Speaker 2: And that's been over multiple presidents. Oh yeah, over decades.
- 23:52Speaker 2: That's nuts.
- 23:53Speaker 6: It is nuts, friends, a lot of money.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Yeah, this is a weird one.
- 23:59Speaker 4: So the hot arenas at the Milan Courtina Olympics, they
- 24:04Speaker 4: had to change them. I guess they had these dark
- 24:09Speaker 4: boards or yeah, they were replacing these dark boards in
- 24:13Speaker 4: the back of the hockey arenas for light ones. The
- 24:16Speaker 4: players were complaining that they couldn't see the puck. There
- 24:19Speaker 4: was not enough contrast to.
- 24:20Speaker 2: See the puck. So the wit who decided that those
- 24:23Speaker 2: boards that are around the arena should be the exact
- 24:27Speaker 2: same color as a hockey puck. Yeah, that's a little ruah.
- 24:31Speaker 2: That's the problem, isn't it.
- 24:32Speaker 6: But it looked good. Show me the money. Android users
- 24:40Speaker 6: could get between one hundred and one hundred and thirty
- 24:42Speaker 6: five million dollars as part of two new Google settlements.
- 24:45Speaker 6: So one of them is that the Android operating system
- 24:51Speaker 6: was collecting cellular data without users permission. The other lawsuit,
- 24:56Speaker 6: filed at the same time, accused Google of enabling its
- 25:00Speaker 6: voice activated assistant to spy inappropriately on users, so they're
- 25:05Speaker 6: doing the settlement. Google denies wrongdoing, but says we are well,
- 25:09Speaker 6: we're pleased to resolve this case.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Of course. Of course, my question is when I first
- 25:13Speaker 2: read the story, I'm going between one hundred to one
- 25:15Speaker 2: hundred and thirty five million dollars. I can understand one
- 25:18Speaker 2: hundred dollars. Who gets one hundred and thirty five million dollars.
- 25:21Speaker 6: Nobody, the individual people get one hundred dollars.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Yes, that's what I'm thinking. So that's kind of an
- 25:27Speaker 2: interesting headline. All right, guys, we are done. KFI AM
