- 0:18Speaker 1: Good morning. Yesterday as we spent a little time with
- 0:21Speaker 1: Jesus during our devotion, we talked about the leaves beginning
- 0:25Speaker 1: to fall and how we have to trust God enough
- 0:28Speaker 1: to let go of what belonged to another season. And
- 0:32Speaker 1: this morning as I really got to praying and thinking
- 0:36Speaker 1: about the devotion time the Lord really wanted to kind
- 0:40Speaker 1: of expound on that just a little bit deeper because
- 0:44Speaker 1: there's another aspect of that that we really need to
- 0:47Speaker 1: discuss before the Lord and just kind of make sure
- 0:50Speaker 1: we understand what going into a new season really entails
- 0:55Speaker 1: Isaiah 43 in verse 18 and 19 I want you
- 0:59Speaker 1: to listen to what the word of God says here
- 1:01Speaker 1: it says remember ye not the former things Neither consider
- 1:06Speaker 1: the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Now it shall spring forth. Shall ye not know it?
- 1:18Speaker 1: This morning, as we look at that, we talked about
- 1:22Speaker 1: kind of leaving one season and entering into another season.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Sometimes we call it new chapters in our lives or
- 1:28Speaker 1: a new direction, no matter what you call it. Because
- 1:31Speaker 1: I was using a tree and the falling leaves as
- 1:34Speaker 1: an analogy, I just chose to kind of talk about
- 1:37Speaker 1: seasons in our lives. But the thing that the Lord
- 1:41Speaker 1: really wants to talk to us about this morning is
- 1:44Speaker 1: you can leave something physically and still carry it with
- 1:48Speaker 1: you mentally and emotionally. And you can walk into a
- 1:53Speaker 1: new season while your mind is still replaying the old one.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Have you ever done that? Have you ever been there?
- 1:59Speaker 1: Maybe you're doing that right now. Physically, you've made the
- 2:03Speaker 1: decision to move into A new area of your life.
- 2:07Speaker 1: A new season in your life. But mentally and emotionally.
- 2:11Speaker 1: You're just not there yet. Now spiritually speaking. You can
- 2:14Speaker 1: step through a new door. While your heart is still
- 2:17Speaker 1: standing in the room you just left. You can even
- 2:21Speaker 1: accept that something is over. And still allow your emotions.
- 2:26Speaker 1: To be connected to it. And determine how you live today.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And here's what will happen eventually. That will begin to
- 2:34Speaker 1: affect you spiritually. Because God told His people, Remember ye
- 2:38Speaker 1: not the former things, neither consider the things of old,
- 2:42Speaker 1: because I will do a new thing. And when we
- 2:45Speaker 1: look at that scripture in context of what we're talking
- 2:48Speaker 1: about this morning, there comes a time when moving forward
- 2:52Speaker 1: requires more than just changing your surroundings. It requires changing
- 2:57Speaker 1: what we allow to occupy our thoughts and to control
- 3:01Speaker 1: our emotions. See, maybe the last season of your life
- 3:05Speaker 1: caused you heartache. Maybe someone disappointed you. Maybe things didn't
- 3:11Speaker 1: turn out the way you had prayed or hoped for.
- 3:14Speaker 1: We've all been there. But maybe you made some mistakes
- 3:18Speaker 1: that you wished you could go back and change. Or
- 3:22Speaker 1: maybe the last season was actually very wonderful and part
- 3:25Speaker 1: of you simply doesn't want to accept that life is
- 3:28Speaker 1: changing and you need to move into a new season.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Either way, we have to be real careful not to
- 3:36Speaker 1: measure the new season against the old one. And this
- 3:41Speaker 1: is very important this morning. This kind of came to
- 3:44Speaker 1: my spirit, but I really want us to bear down
- 3:46Speaker 1: on this one thought this morning. New people in your
- 3:49Speaker 1: life should not have to pay for what other people
- 3:52Speaker 1: have done in the old season. New opportunities should not
- 3:56Speaker 1: be approached with yesterday's fears. And today shouldn't constantly have
- 4:01Speaker 1: to compete With our memories of yesterday. God I hope
- 4:06Speaker 1: that speaks to you this morning. Because there are some
- 4:09Speaker 1: things that we can never forget. But we can decide
- 4:13Speaker 1: that they will no longer control us moving forward. That
- 4:17Speaker 1: is where spiritual growth becomes so important. Because before we
- 4:22Speaker 1: can fully embrace what God is doing next. Sometimes we
- 4:26Speaker 1: have to surrender not only where we've been. But also
- 4:30Speaker 1: what that season did to us. See, the tree doesn't
- 4:34Speaker 1: drop its leaves and then spend all winter trying to
- 4:37Speaker 1: gather them back. It stands where God planted it, trusting
- 4:42Speaker 1: that a new season is coming. Maybe that's the invitation
- 4:46Speaker 1: for all of us today. Leave the old season where
- 4:51Speaker 1: it belongs. Take the wisdom from it. Take the lessons
- 4:55Speaker 1: that you've learned. Take the testimony that has come out
- 4:58Speaker 1: of it, but leave behind the bitterness and the regret,
- 5:02Speaker 1: the fear, the disappointment, the anxiety, and anything else that
- 5:07Speaker 1: will keep your heart, mind, and emotions living somewhere that
- 5:12Speaker 1: God has already brought you through. God is doing a
- 5:17Speaker 1: new thing in your life right now. Make sure you
- 5:22Speaker 1: don't miss it. Today you be safe, you be strong,
- 5:26Speaker 1: and you be blessed. And embrace this new season physically, mentally, emotionally,
- 5:35Speaker 1: and spiritually. Lord's will, we'll see you back here again tomorrow.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Have a great day.
